Analysis of I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died and Because I Could Not Stop for Death by Emily
Dickinson
Emily Dickinson wrote many poems in her lifetime. She writes two of my favorite poems. They
are: ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died? and ?Because I could not stop for Death?. They both have
similarities and differences from each other.
There are similarities in these two poems such as the theme and the observentness of the narrator.
Both of the poems themes involve death. In ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died?, the poet writes, ?
And then the Windows failed ? and then I could not see to see , which means that the narrator?s
eyes would not open no more; they had died. In ?Because I could not stop for Death? it shows the
theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poet writes, ?We passed the School, where Children strove At Recess in the Ring We passed
the Fields of Gazing Grain ? These are a few similarities between the two poems.
There are differences in these two poems such as the setting and where the narrator went after
he/she died. In ?Because I could not stop for Death?, the setting is outside where it is cool. I
know this because the poets write, ?We slowly drove ,? and ?The dews drew quivering and chill
? In the poem, ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died?, the setting is in a warm and moist room. I know
this because the poet writes, ??The Stillness in the Room Was like the Stillness in the Air ?. The
narrator in ?Because I could not stop for Death?, died and had an after life where death is
leading him/her. The poets tells us this, ?Since then tis Centuries and yet Feels shorter than the
Day I first surmised the Horses Heads Were toward Eternity?. The narrator in the poem, ?I heard
a Fly buzz when I died?, did not have an after life. I know this because the poet writes, ?And when
the Windows failed and then I could not see to see?. These are a few differences between the two
poems.
My reactions to the two poems were about the same in both. I like in, ?I heard a Fly buzz when I
died? the description of how the room felt and then disturbing of the narrator?s final resting place
by the fly. In the poem, ?Because I could not stop for

It is stereotypically correct to say that pink is a girl s color, but that wasn t always so. The history
of how pink came to represent feminism started in WWII, it was up until then the men that were
dominantly wearing pink and were dominantly the gender that was employed. At that time, there
was a female equality/ feminist issue with women being barred into employment. Because of
WWII, most of the men in America were drafted out to war and women substituted in the absence
of men s labor. Accompanying that, women started to wear pink uniforms and aprons, including an
inspirational womanto women leader, Rosie the Riveter. This is an uprising merge of female labor
into the workforce (Stamberg, 2014). This generation started to associate the... Show more content

After making these changes the company declared themselves as the fastest growing wireless
company in the nation. If one takes these three marketing strategies and compare it to how women
are being targeted by retail, one will see that they are the same. According to the research done
by Time, there s a stronger emotional and personal connection to their mobile devices by
females. The key differences between men and woman in relation to their mobile devices is that
a woman is more engaged with her phone in a way that there is more fulfillment in getting
things done with her mobile device. The Un carrier movement is a solution primarily to
American females. The strategy of getting personal interactions with the customers is what
females prefer rather than taking to an automated help line. The second strategy of a faster data
service provides an expedited access for females to turn a passive time into an active time. For
instance, when a woman does her daily activities; there are some down time that she would rather
prefer to spend some time on her phone. This is the time that is referred to as the mobile device
is a substitute for a human engagement. T Mobile s third strategy on rebranding the company into
an edgy and highly differentiated market is definitely targeting women because on all of the
promotion and advertisements there is the color pink present. What s also associated with the
marketing materials are more of an alternative punk rock vibe. An electric guitar is playing in the
background and the color is used in a monochromatic theme, whereas the color pink is the only
color that is apparent. One thing that will be guaranteed in all the marketing materials since the Un
carrier would be the distinct shade of pink; which is magenta. This shade of pink is present in all of
the materials that target women. The Un carrier movement is a solution

Social Control In Deviance
What is deviance? Deviance maintains the idea of nonconforming to societal norms with very
outlandish ideas, thoughts, and action. They are many different types of deviances, ranging from
subtle deviant behavior to extreme deviant behavior. The idea of a government creating certain
sanctions, rules, and ideas to enforce a level of societal control and avoid chaos is social control.
With social control is four different elements or variables to why deviants or criminals commit a
crime; which is, attachment, commitment, involvement, and beliefs. The first variable of social
control is attachment; attachment is when a person forms a certain type of emotional or mental
identification and ties with certain things, people or ideas. For example, our attachment to our
family, friends, personal items or pets show our level of sensitivity whereas those who lack that are
considered more selfish. The second social control variable is commitment; which is an indirect
type of rational element to the theory; which highlights the conventional lines in one s actions
showing that there was motivation to invest in a type of social engagement or career. The action
taking place is much more conventional, an example would be a commitment to pursuing a degree
in a university even though the course curriculum is very challenging. The third social control
variable is involvement, the lines of whichever activity that is felt comfortable along with the time
spent on it. Such as a student preparing to

The Effect of Amercan Wars on the Societal Views of Women
From the earliest times of man, women seemed to always be seen and treated as inferior, and
certainly not equal. With the birth of the United States, and the wars that followed, the female
population finally gained the confidence to voice their thoughts of their roles in society. The impact
of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War
, and the Progressive Eraimpacted the roles that women
played in society in momentous ways because all three of these events were times of partial
chaos with which came the more confident voices of women voicing their concerns about
society s views of them. The Revolutionary War was a time when thoughts and views were not as
easily muted and, because of this, women, for the first time in history, took advantage of this and
voiced their concerns verbally and through their actions such as Abigail Adams and the Sons and
Daughters of Liberty. Due to similar unrest, the Civil War proved to be an exceedingly
important time for women because they were able to partake in a actions such as speaking out
against slavery, filling male positions in factories, and even aiding wartime doctors. A final event
that created arguably the most change for women is the early Progressive years and the spin off
actions that followed such as the call for women s votes, the rising leadership roles that they
called for, and even their aiding of the poor and sick in places such as the Hull House.
The Revolutionary War gave rise to a nation like none the world had seen before;

If there is any emotion which give the most purest and divine feeling, and lets you acts your best

Often it is alleged, love is the most wonderful thing that can ensue to a person. People are onto

Krishna s love and wanted to marry him, but Krishna fell for Radha. Both the souls carve up
eternal love, respect and bond for each other that no one could ever match.
Humanly issues that prevented the two to become one were many. It is often said that Radha
was 10 years older to Krishna. She was also engaged to some one is also one myth that comes in
tale. Their family status was furthermore not matched to that of Krishna s family. Back in that

Comparing The Different Classes Of Glutamate Receptors Essay
Compare and contrast the different classes of glutamate receptors.
Glutamate as a neurotransmitter
In the brain, neurons communicate between each other and with target cells via a great numbers of
chemicals they release, so called neurotransmitters. A signal in the brain is sent from a presynaptic
neuron to a postsynaptic cell through synaptic transmission, allowing the brain to process
information in a rapid way. (SГјdhof, Starke and Boehm, 2008)
One of the most important transmitters within the vertebrate nervous system for normal brain
function is known to be glutamic acid also known as glutamate. In the mammalian central nervous
system (brain and spinal cord) is acknowledged that almost all excitatory neurons are glutamatergic
and approximately more than 40% of the synapses in the brain release the amino acid glutamate.
(Purves et al., 2001)
The interaction of this major neurotransmitter with different cells in the brain is dependent on
whether the cells express receptors for glutamate on their surfaces, to which they can bind and
activate. (Hu, Ondrejcak and Rowan, 2012)
Glutamate interaction with glutamate receptors plays a role in the efficacy of synaptic plasticity,
which is fundamental for many neurological functions such as memory, learning, behaviour and in
addition during development in the formation of neural connections within the central nervous
system (CNS), thus allowing neurons to communicate with each other (Sundaram, Gowtham and
Nayak, 2012)

Adoption
When a person decides to adopt, he takes the responsibility of raising a child who is not
biologically his own. There are various reasons why people decide to adopt. Some say adoption is
the best thing for certain children and many successful stories prove it to be true. However, there
are also numerous tragic reports of adopted children being abused. Basically, what adoption meant,
and still means, is that someone (the adoptive couple) is promising to assume all responsibilities
for taking care of someone else (Powledge 4). How the adoptive parents go about raising the child
is completely up to them. Although there are many different types of families in today s society,

There have been many various surveys taken concerning adoptees. Times reported various
horror stories concerning adoption. Some stories include children being poisoned, a child being
shaken to death, and children being sexually abused (Gay 89). Unfortunately these are just a few
examples of many. Adoptees often suffer from attachment disorders, which are more common in
older children. These disorders caused by adoption are extremely noticeable and should be taken
seriously. These unattached kids often experience unresponsiveness to affection, serious
problems with hoarding or stealing food, abnormal eye contact problems, often thinking about
blood or fire, and are often overfriendly to strangers (Adamec 73). Also identity and self image
problems are a major cause of distress to adopted children (Harnack 21). Counseling and therapy
are highly recommended to help kids deal with these disorders. Even though there are numerous
negative stories about adopted kids, there are also lots of success stories. Either way the adoptive
parents are totally responsible for the outcome of all situations concerning the child they decide to
adopt. Families may have different structures but they are all responsible for providing basic needs
(Foster 99).
Adoptive parents and biological parents are both fully capable of providing all the basic needs.
Some people see adoption as a cruel decision an

Ted Lavender Characteristics
If you were to ask any individual what their idea of a hero is, they ll most likely give you a
perfect description of superman, but that s the fictional visual that s been placed into the minds of
the general public. What is a true hero? A true hero is selfless, brave, and determined; someone
like Ted Lavender. Lavender was highly respected, he was as brave as he could be without needing
recognition, and he took a bullet to the head. He will never be stripped of his humble and heroic
reputation.
A man who puts his life on the line; a man who does what he feels he must do. It s evident that no
man wants to go into war, anyone could run from it like Tim O brien when he was drafted into the
Vietnam War, but Lavender faced a terrifying scenario head on. A herois selfless, brave, and
determined. The act of fighting in the war automatically makes a hero all of the above; wartime
hero s put their life on the line, they commit to their duties and they never know whether they ll
come out of it alive. These hero s demonstrate many of the characteristics of a hero and they do so
with dignity. A hero impacts all aspects of someone s life and leaves a positive impression, but

What Is The Connection To Lord Of The Flies
We re all so busy chasing the extraordinary that we forget to stop and be grateful for the ordinary

The Difference of North and South
Even though the North and the South origins were both from Europe, their customs and living
habits were different. The North and the South began to notice these differences as they broke away
from Britain in the Revolutionary War. The North and South emerged into two different regions,
due to their various differences. These differences included the geography, the economy, the social
and classification status, and transportation.
One of the most striking differences between the North and the South was the climate and
geography. The North s climate was full of warm summers and cold winters; the terrain was
rocky and hilly, which wasn t good for farming. But the North did have little farms. Most of the
forest was used for shipbuilding, and cities were used for trading centers. The rivers were fast
and shallow which made it hard to navigate. Also in the North people used waterpower to run
factories, because it was a cheap source of energy. The South was somewhat different; the climate
was generally warm and sunny. The summers were long and hot, and the winters were pretty mild.
Due to the South s climate they were able to grow different crops in large amounts, unlike the
North. The south had large farms, called plantations. In the South cities developed near rivers,
because of rich soil which made it easier for them to farm.
There were various economic differences between the North and South. In the south their economy
was based on agriculture. That s why they believed

Born a slave, Booker T. Washington was an educated man who gave his life to promote the

Washington had similarities in their ideas. Both Washington and DuBois tended to blame Negroes
themselves for their condition. They both placed emphasis on self help and moral improvement

Americans. WEB Dubois said The history of the American Negro is the history of this strife, this
longing to attain self conscious manhood, to merge his double self into a better and truer self. In
this merging he wishes neither of the older selves to be lost... He simply wishes to make it
possible for a man to be both a Negro and an American... This shows that WEB Dubois is blaming
the Negroes for their condition. In reaction, Booker T. Washington said The man who has learned to

believe that the poem is more in agreement with Christian ethnicity. The author of Beowulf uses
both Christian and pagan elements in the poem to define the heroic warrior, Beowulf, and the evil

of his finest soldiers. When Beowulf and his men met Grendel the weapons of Beowulf s army

faith from God to defeat Grendel without the use of weapons. Beowulf was able to hold onto
Grendel s arms until they were ripped off. Beowulf put his life at risk by using his courage and

Another evil that Beowulf was able to concur using the help of God was Grendel s Mother.
Grendel s Mother was furious about the death of her only son and came into Hrothgar s kingdom.
While in the kingdom she captured one of Hrothgar s men and devoured him. Before Grendel s
mother flees she takes the arm of her son which is hanging in the hall as a trophy. Beowulf then

They could not get jobs because of their education and because they knew nothing of factories and

IRISH IMMIGRATION IN 1850 S 3
Most of the Irish immigrants faced many prejudices and segregation. The nativists and the other
immigrants were afraid of them because of their religion and beliefs. They were forced to live in
slums and in poverty because they could not find jobs. The only work they could find was in
servitude and menial labor jobs. They were under educated and poor. The Irish were thought to be
stupid and ignorant, so they stayed to themselves.
The Irish emigrants entered a land with new social and cultural differences. At this time the African
Americans and Asian Americans were involved in disputes, along with the European Americans.
Add to this the disruptions between the Catholics and Protestants and there was not much peace in
the neighborhoods. During this time, they developed political partisanships which brought into line
a group called the Know Nothing Party and later the American Protective Association (APA).
Neither of these parties lasted for long, but the Irish were later associated with the new Democratic
Party.
Also during this time, Irish immigrant soldiers played a big part in the Civil War

Thomas Paine And John Paine Essay
Introduction Thomas Paine was born to Joseph Paine and Francis Cocke Paine in January, 1737.
Paine s father was Quaker, and his mother was Anglican. The religious controversies haunted
Paine throughout his life. His personal life ended in divorce and destitution. After barely avoiding
debtor s prison in 1774, a mutual friend introduced Paine to Benjamin. This introduction would
change the course of Paine s life. Franklin was immediately impressed with Paine and wrote a
letter of introduction for him. Paine suffered physical illness on his journey that very nearly killed
him, but he managed to survive the trip and arrived in Philadelphia September of 1774. After this
new start, Paine began his career of publishing articles and pamphlets in the colonies. His first
published essay was African Slavery in America. This article argued that slavery was unjust and
inhumane. Paine also wrote and co edited the Pennsylvania Magazine. He used this format to
express new ideas and learn about his audience. In January of 1776, Paine published Common
Sense, which would unite his fellow colonists on a path to either freedom or high treason. Paine
continued to publish throughout the ensuing revolution. He published a series of essays titled the
American Crisis Papers. These sixteen papers flamed the embers kindled by Common Sense; they
urged the colonists to fight against their perpetual enslavement by Great Britain. Although Paine s
early works often sold out, his contemporaries later

Why Is Technology Important In The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War, a proxy war fought primarily between North Vietnam and South Vietnam
with the support of the US, the deployment of new technology is seen by some to have a pivotal
impact on the nature of warfare. The Vietnam War does however highlight how other factors may
have been equally influential as despite America s large preponderance in the sense of technology,
weapons and ultimately economic wealth it was counteracted by the intense motivation to win and
leadership shown by the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong, provoking their victory. As a
result, it raises the question if new technology alone influenced the nature of warfare in this period
or if it was a combination of other aspects including public support, organization,... Show more

This photograph (left) taken by Eddie Adams, shows the execution of a Vietcong soldier who
assassinated the families of several South Vietnamese police officers, being executed by General
Nguyen Ngoc loan, the South Vietnamese National Police Chief. Although the executed was
guilty of heinous crimes, when the photograph was broadcasted it galvanized the anti war
movement and was used as anti war propaganda across the world . This source is reliable as it
visually depicts the reality of war and what was going on in Vietnam. It is an example of why
America experienced a rapid decline of public backing from 1968 to 71, by the end of which
only 28% of America s public were in favor of the war. It was not only ordinary people who
determined the Governments choices on warfare but influential leaders such as Martin Luther
King. King once referred to the US government as the greatest purveyor of violence in the world
today during his 1967 Beyond Vietnam speech . This statement cannot be taken lightly as at this
time King would have been a supporter of the Government in order to assist the Civil Rights
Movement and therefore it would have been a great deal for him to speak out against their actions.
For King to do so it highlights that the level of public disgust against the military action used in

Differences On Body And Tissue Weights
Results and Discussion
Body and Tissue Weights
The initial body weight of rats was similar (p value=0.19). At the end of the experimental period,
the HFFr+S rats had a near doubling of visceral fat weight, compared to the control group
(6.9В±1.1 g vs. 3.4В±0.4 g, p value=0.009), while it was slightly and non significantly lower in the
other groups, especially in the rats gavaged with the high dose of metformin (200 mg/kg/day). After
60 days, no significant differences were found between the groups regarding the final body weight
and liver/body weight percentage (Table 2). This suggests that the excess energy intake of HFFr
rats have led to a greater adiposity, but not to a higher body weight.

improvement in fasting and post challenge glycemic control, and either in the increased serum

In this study, HFFr diet, calcium vitamin D3 supplementation and oral gavage administration of
metformin did not alter the serum concentrations of triglycerides, total cholesterol and Non HDL

compared to the groups receiving recommended levels of calcium and vitamin D3. Moreover,
the levels of serum CTRP3 (also known as cartonectin, cartducin, CORS 26) was significantly
higher in the +Met200 group, compared to the other groups (except the +CaD+Met200 group).
There was no effect of HFFr diet and no additive effect of metformin and CaD on serum HDL C

This is a huge aspect to understanding people and why they act the way they do. By understanding
each quadrant and which one each person fits into you can determine what motivates them, what
upsets them, and how to lead a conversation.
A Q1 person is very domineering and they tend to be insensitive towards other people. This
behavior is when a person thinks they are right all the time. They believe that you are typically
lazy if you don t like their ideas. They are very abrasive and demeans other people regularly. When
a person exudes this type of behavior they usually get a Q2 or Q3 reaction from the other person.
A Q2 person is very reluctant and unresponsive. They tend to be pessimistic and critical of new
ideas. A Q2 needs to feel secure in their job position. Some of the intangible benefits a Q2 would
want is reassurance that they still have a job or that nothing will be changing with their job. A Q2
will get other people to show signs of Q1 or Q2 depending on the person.
A Q3 is similar to a Q2 but they are more social. They tend to be more easy going and passive.
Something a Q3 hates is conflict so they try and avoid it at all costs. They will agree to your
face just so they don t have to deal with any negativity. These type of people want everyone to be
friends and always happy. They will smooth over any type of disagreement and won t make many

Calvin Johnson Research Paper
Calvin Johnson has been the best wide receivers in the NFL in his whole career being 6 5 240 he
is the toughest receiver to cover and his stats prove it. As seen in the picture from CBS sports.
In 2012 he had 1,964 yards which is the most ever in a season in the entire history of the NFL
and with his stats not dropping that much a lot of people thought he still has a lot of time left to
make an impact in his career. Except he announced a couple weeks ago saying that he was
retiring at only age 30. Many people have there opinions on why he is retiring although he has
not completely said why he is retiring. Granted, retiring at younger ages is becoming more
popular in the NFL but there has never been a player of Calvin s caliber to retire early. Many
experts say that he is retiring just because of how much he got hit during his career, being the

Organizational Development Heralds From The Industrial Era...
In the midst of one of our many design sessions, a member of the team expresses how he s feeling
the sense that he s in this alone , that he doesn t feel any support from the team. With that a stark
shift is felt in the room, both in the way the conversation and the concept under scrutiny is being
approached by everyone at the table away from pure analytical reductionism towards an
appreciative approach of discovering the possibility beyond the potential issues, the basis for
innovationin all respects. His personal experience awoke us to good practice.
(Petousis, Journal 4, 12 May 2015)
Organisational development heralds from the industrial era, and was primarily focussed on
efficiency in working roles, as well as the effective communications for the supply chain to
function smoothly (Beckhard, 1969; Garrow, 2009). In that landscape the realms of personal life
and personal experience were determined as mere distractions from the work at hand. What is
being alluded to in the above excerpt (which is explained further below) is the power of subjective
experience in the modern context of organisations. In the modern context the simplicity of the
industrial era s inputs and outputs, the role based formulas for successful operations are commonly
challenged (Martins Terblanche, 2003; Nadler Tushman, 1999; W. O. Nilsson, 2009). This is
especially true in a creative economy, where innovation is in the limelight, and new models are
being called for to overcome the inefficient

Evolution Of Athenian Democracy Essay
Evolution of Democracy and the Athenian Constitution
Democracy is defined in modern times as government by the people. To put that in perspective and
better understand all that democracy entails we must consider its origins. It is surprising indeed
that even today tyrannies and dictatorships exist in the world when more than two and a half
thousand years ago the ancient Athenians had developed a functional and direct form of democracy.
What contributed to this remarkable achievement and how it changed the socio political scene in
Athens is what will be considered in this paper.
The paper will have three sections, each detailing the various stages of political development from

Honor was a competitive concept in Greek society. This held true not only for individuals but
also for the highly competitive city states or poleis. Hence they were constantly at war with each
other whether to add to their holdings or on issues of politics with the losing side ending up
enslaved (for example the Messenians who were defeated and enslaved by the Spartans). This
constant internal military pressure was the very catalyst that caused gradual changes over
hundreds of years. Since kings were hereditary therefore it was always not possible to find a
capable general as well as administrator in one person. The inevitable result was that the ancient
warrior class the aristocrats who formed the bulk of the army as the cavalry by virtue of owning
horses took the power of the general for themselves. This was the beginning of the second stage in
the development of the constitution. Thus the office of Polemarch (leader in war) was instituted
due to incompetence in war of some kings (Aristotle and Xenophon, p: 148).
Consequently the office of Archon was established to manage the administration of the state and
now the king, who was called King Archon, was left with only the vestigial religious functions.
According to Aristotle, for the early offices the tenure was initially for life and then for ten years.

Absolutely no software cost:
Computer requires both the hardware and software for its smooth functioning. The computer
software costs more than the hardware, therefore, many users have been deprived of buying it.
Instead, they resort to use the illegal version of the software. This does not give them any legal right
to own, distribute or use the product in the open environment.
2. No virus attacks:
We often complain of many viruses on our computer, this causes the computer to be formatted at
least once a month. Besides this, we are constantly targeted by the spammers. This is primarily due
to, the 90% of the computer users highly depend on the commercial softwares for their daily
activities. Only the 10 % of the users depend on the open source applications. Therefore, all the
spammers and viruses aim at destroying the majority of computers.
Thus, there will always be a less scope for hackers for targeting the open source applications.
Let us take an example from Microsoft, every one of us uses the Windows as our preferred
operating system. We constantly receive warnings from spammers, viruses and other notifications
about the problems with our illegal versions of Windows. During such occasions, we can neither
contact the Microsoft since Windows has been manufactured by it, nor use the illegal and corrupted

What I Know About Islam Essay
During the 11 years that I lived in India, I had two Christian friends. I never asked them what
kind of Christians they were as I was unaware of the existence of the different sects of
Christianity. I am sure they did not know either as we were too young. I am familiar with
Christianity and Sikhism as I grew up around people who followed these religions. The city that I
grew up in had and still has a large Muslimpopulation; however, I never got a chance to learn
anything about Islam. This was partly due to the high tensions between Muslims and Hindus. I
recall an incident that occurred in India during my childhood years. I must have been 7 or 8,
when riots broke out between Muslims and Hindus after the burning of Godhra Train in the state
of Gujarat. I remember hiding in a tiny room that we had on the rooftop, where most of the
women and children from my neighborhood came to hide while the men were preparing to fight
the Muslim rioters. Thank God nothing happened that night and the information received was
incorrect. Although, my views on Islam has changed as I grew older and learned more about
Islam; initially, this incident left me with a negative impression about Islam. As I grew older, I
realized that I was at fault for generalizing, not all Muslims are bad and this incident certainly does
not make Islam a violent religion. Therefore, when I was provided with the opportunity to do
immersion on other religions than my own, I chose Islam to gain deeper understanding and

With the introduction of the Senior Citizens Freedom to Work Act of 2000, retirement age
individuals were able to continue to work at their full retirement age and still receive benefits. The
Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 added the voluntary
prescription drug program under the Medicare program. With the No Social Security Benefits for
Prisoners Act of 2009, prisoners were prohibited from collecting social security benefits while they
were in prison or in violation of parole or probation. The most recent change enacted to the Social
Security program was the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation
Act of 2010. This Act instituted a 2% reduction in employee s payroll taxes. (www.ssa.gov/history)
The state of our current Social Security program is that there are fewer workers to fund the
Social Security program through payroll taxes due to the decrease in number of birth rates per
woman. Simple math shows that less people to contribute equals less money being funded. Social
Security payroll taxes were just reduced from 6.2% to 4.2% per worker. To be eligible to receive
Social Security benefits, you must earn 40 credits which is equivalent to 10 years of working. The

save their life. The American Red Cross was founded by a woman names Clara Barton on March
21st 1881. When the American Red Crosswas first established they utilized life boats, donated
clothing, and medical supplies for families who have been devastated by disasters such as floods,
disease, tornados etc. Later after World War II, the American Red Cross then began to collect
blood donations to give to patients who had lost mass amounts of blood and in today s society the
American Red Cross supplies 40% of the blood product in the United States(A brief history of the
American Red Cross, 2014). The American Red Cross is governed by the Board of Governors

The principles that the American Red Cross strive to work by are humanity, impartiality,
neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality (Governance, 2014). These
statements are what make being a member of this organization beneficial. A person who desires
to help others should live by these principles as well. This means that they re purpose is to help
the person who is in need to the best of their ability and make the person they are helping feel
safe and secure when they are receiving aid. I believe that a person who gives back to their
community is rewarded with the satisfaction of knowing that they did what was humanly possible
to lift the spirits of the individual or community they are helping by instilling hope that there are

Analysis Of Vasari s The Multivalent Themes And...
The multivalent themes and leitmotifs with which Vasari regales his readers the major and minor
artists, the diligent and the delinquent, the inventive and imitative, the mentors and apprentices,
the fathers and sons, and the mothers, wives and daughters bring the history of Italian
Renaissance art to life in his monumental text. In order for us to understand the purpose of the
preface pages, it is important first to consider the purpose of Vasari s text as a whole. Vasari was
himself a notable artist and architect, however he made it his eventual duty to recognise the
importance of artists in the historical timeline. More significantly, he would endeavour to
distinguish between the good, the better and the best and how their stylistic methods are
indicative of an artist s ability. In his prefaces he relays to his readers the immense body of work
he tasked himself with, how artists were gifted or strived for their art, were innovators or followers,
and how their perception as craftsmen or academics changed, all this in an attempt to educate those
who wanted to learn about the story of art. Vasari divides his Vite into three parts spanning a period
from Cimabue s trecento Italo byzantine style to his present day cinquecento where he places
particular emphasis on Michelangelo. In this time we can observe a shift from a spiritual almost
detached emotion to something more aesthetically substantial, something Vasari surmises as finally
reaching the summit of perfection.

The Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the creature is introduced to four readings that
influenced his outlook on human life. The four books being Paradise Lost By John
Milton,Plutarch s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans By Plutarch,The Sorrows of Young
Werther By Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Ruins of Empires by Constantin François de
Volney . Knowing that these four works influenced the creature to be who he became, I would
change them in hopes of him becoming good. In the story of Frankenstein, the Creature studies or
listens to 4 books. Each book molded who he became and how he thought or felt about society.

Each of these books stand for power and strength in the individual despite the physical and
emotional challenges they face. When the Creature finds the book, it fills his head with wild
ideas. Such as, As I read, however, I applied much personally to my own feelings and condition
(Shelley 114). This is explaining how he became the monster that he is portrayed as. Throughout
Frankenstein, the monster is sad because he cannot read, write, or communicate with others, so
when he finds the book collection he cannot wait to read every single one. When the monster kills
Henry Clerval, he makes it seem like Henry tried to attempt suicide by drowning him. This is taken
right out of Sorrows of Young Werther because of the boyfriend drowning himself. Another writing
that was influential to Shelley s Frankenstein was Paradise Lost by John Milton. This is said to be
the most influential piece of literature that the Creature was based on.Paradise Lost is an epic
poem about a version of the creation story. In Frankenstein, the creature and Frankenstein meet on
the top of Mont Blanc and the Creature starts to tell his life story from the time that he was
abandoned. He tells of the list of books that he read and starts the

Lance Kogane
Looking around, all Lance McClain could see around him was ice. There was ice and two
differently colored robot lions collapsed on the ground. There was his own lion the blue one, and
his companion s lion the red one, both of these lions were part of an all powerful being called
Voltron, and currently both lions were out of battery and needed to recharge, leaving Lance and his
partner Keith unable to escape the planet. Keith Kogane wasn t paying attention to the environment
as much as he was repairing the damage to his lion as much as he could, with limited resources
there was only so much he could do.
The two paladins of Voltron quickly realized they would have to wait until their lions reactivated
and they would be stuck on the planet until then, Keith didn t mind this that much given he
preferred cooler weather over heat. Lance had severe problems dealing ... Show more content on

Keith buried himself in the snow right next to Lance so it d be a little warmer and they
continued to wait out the storm while silently praying their lions would reactivate again, but as
luck would have it the lions wouldn t reactivate because the cold air drained the batteries they
kept trying to refill. Once the night finally passed by the two crawled out of their snow cocoons
and desperately tried warming up in the morning sunlight. This warmth also gave the lions the
chance they needed to refill their batteries before the icy winds stole it all away again. Keith took
this opportunity to question Lance about his near breakdown last night. Lance admitted his fear
with slight hesitation, afraid Keith would think he was weak because of his fear. Keith instead
embraced the other male in a hug and told him it was ok to be afraid sometimes, because fear is

large reservoir that serves many purposes including the following: flood control, power generation,
recreation, water supply, and water storage. The US Army Corps of Engineers allowed Georgia to
withdraw water from Lake Lanier. However, Alabama and Florida filed a lawsuit against the
Corps due to the fact that Georgia was withdrawing water from Lake Lanier which decreased the
downstream levels. In the 2009 ruling, Georgia as increased their withdraw amount to the point
exceeding WSA which affected the hydropower generation. In the 11th circuit Appeal, Georgians
were given hope in an increase in withdraws from Lake Lanier, but in the end, the Corps
repudiated Georgia s request. However, there was a problem with the law so the Corps is
reevaluating Georgia s request. Georgia has responsibility issues between water storage and

Musical Conductors In Igor Stravinsky
Musical conductors are individuals that help direct a musical performance. They will ensure that
the band is in the right tempo and that each section of the ensemble enters the performance at the
correct time. The conductors may use hand gestures or a baton in order to guide the band. Many
people believe that musical conductors are beneficial and help improve a band s performance.
However, Russian composer Igor Stravinsky disapproves of the usage of musical conductors as he
believes that they are useless. Through comparisons and sarcastic language, Stravinsky criticizes
the egotistical personalities and deceitful nature of musical conductors.
Stravinsky addresses the artificiality of conductors through comparisons. In the introduction of the
passage, Stravinsky highlights the similarities between conducting and politics. He explains that
both conducting and politics rarely attracts original minds and are mostly used for the exploitation
of personalities Politicians are known for being very dishonest. They often make empty promises
in order to gain popularity and votes from the public. Stravinsky believes that conductors, like
politicians, exist only to satisfy their audience, not to express their own perspective of the music. At
one point, Stravinsky draws a comparison between anglers and musicians. While a conductor might
be a incomplete musician , Stravinsky believes that a conductor must be a compleat angler . Angler
is another term to used to describe someone who

Key Examples Of Modern Racism In The United States
Jacob Robl
Callahan
English 111 060M
24 September 2017
Modern Racism You could say that our country is growing in knowledge over the years, but the
one fact many people lack is that all men and women are created equal no matter their race.
Looking back into the history of the U.S. many of the most memorable building/structures were
built by foreigners that we felt were not the same to whites. We issued them the title of slaves.
Although in the past 100 s of years we have abolished slavery and slowly adopted them into our
ways of living, there are many cases in which we still do not. Racism is a key example of why
you can never say everyone is treated the same. On many accounts, there have been occurrences
such as police brutality, hate crimes, slurs and many other disturbing feats towards people
possibly that you hang out with on a regular basis. All of these can be examples of
discrimination. The obvious dissatisfaction that comes from going online and reading about
another black person shot by a white cop for no apparent reason is just ridiculous. It may not be
that they are targeting people, but actually, just the feeling of discomfort while pulling them over
or catching them. According to Richard Rowe, America s legal system is out of control. Not out
of control in the sense that we can t do anything about it only in that as a system, it has lost all
control of itself (Rowe). I would not go as far to say it is out of control, but rather say it is damaged

Kyler s Short Story
The opportunity arises, he finally has the chance to meet his favorite punk rock band on this
earth. He was willing to do anything, he was willing to kill for the chance. JAM! Magazine was
having a once in a lifetime competition to meet, and go backstage with the band, No Regards!,
Kyler was ecstatic. He had a premonition that he would win, he had too, this was his only shot.
The magazine read, Submit a mock up exclusive article about us and get to write a real one!!!
The second Kyler read that he sat down and started to frantically yet, meticulously write. He
needed no research or studying he had followed this band and everything along with it from day
one. He was one page in and he knew that this was going to be him best work yet. Kyler had
always been a great writer, but it had never come to his benefit till now. Later, while adding his
finishing touches his mother walked in, he frantically hides the paper in his beat up desk. Where
have you been all day, Sport? Just cooped up here in your room! His Mom eagerly asked. His mom

The writing on the front looked handwritten, That has to be a good sign. He thought hopefully. He
quickly ran up to his room in excitement, dodging his mother, along with the furniture and mess
throughout the house. He got to his desk, the same one he sat three weeks prior and wrote his
seemingly unbeatable article, and swiped his arm across it clearing everything in his path. Kyler
sat down with the unopened envelope right in front of him. Thinking of what would happen in he
reprimanded everything his mother had always told him. He sat there for hours, thinking of all the
ways this could play out, none of them ending good for everyone so he grabbed the letter, hesitant
at first, then confidently ripped the envelope to shreds. After throwing it away Kyler ran back
downstairs announcing, Hey Mom, do you want to do anything

Analysis of I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died and Because I Could Not Stop for Death by Emily Dickinson Emily Dickinson wrote many poems in her lifetime. She writes two of my favorite poems. They are: ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died? and ?Because I could not stop for Death?. They both have similarities and differences from each other. There are similarities in these two poems such as the theme and the observentness of the narrator. Both of the poems themes involve death. In ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died?, the poet writes, ? And then the Windows failed ? and then I could not see to see , which means that the narrator?s eyes would not open no more; they had died. I know this because the poets write, ?We slowly drove ,? and ?The dews drew quivering and chill ? In the poem, ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died?, the setting is in a warm and moist room. I know this because the poet writes, ??The Stillness in the Room Was like the Stillness in the Air ?. The narrator in ?Because I could not stop for Death?, died and had an after life where death is leading him/her. The poets tells us this, ?Since then tis Centuries and yet Feels shorter than the Day I first surmised the Horses Heads Were toward Eternity?. The narrator in the poem, ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died?, did not have an after life. I know this because the poet writes, ?And when the Windows failed and then I could not see to see?. These are a few differences between the two poems. My reactions to the two poems were about the same in both. I like in, ?I heard a Fly buzz when I died? the description of how the room felt and then disturbing of the narrator?s final resting place by the fly. In the poem, ?Because I could not stop for ... • 3. T-Mobile Advertising It is stereotypically correct to say that pink is a girl s color, but that wasn t always so. The history of how pink came to represent feminism started in WWII, it was up until then the men that were dominantly wearing pink and were dominantly the gender that was employed. At that time, there was a female equality/ feminist issue with women being barred into employment. According to the research done by Time, there s a stronger emotional and personal connection to their mobile devices by females. The key differences between men and woman in relation to their mobile devices is that a woman is more engaged with her phone in a way that there is more fulfillment in getting things done with her mobile device. The Un carrier movement is a solution primarily to American females. The strategy of getting personal interactions with the customers is what females prefer rather than taking to an automated help line. • 4. Social Control In Deviance What is deviance? Deviance maintains the idea of nonconforming to societal norms with very outlandish ideas, thoughts, and action. They are many different types of deviances, ranging from subtle deviant behavior to extreme deviant behavior. The idea of a government creating certain sanctions, rules, and ideas to enforce a level of societal control and avoid chaos is social control. With social control is four different elements or variables to why deviants or criminals commit a crime; which is, attachment, commitment, involvement, and beliefs. The first variable of social control is attachment; attachment is when a person forms a certain type of emotional or mental identification and ties with certain things, people or ideas. For example, our attachment to our family, friends, personal items or pets show our level of sensitivity whereas those who lack that are considered more selfish. The second social control variable is commitment; which is an indirect type of rational element to the theory; which highlights the conventional lines in one s actions showing that there was motivation to invest in a type of social engagement or career. The action taking place is much more conventional, an example would be a commitment to pursuing a degree in a university even though the course curriculum is very challenging. • 5. The Effect of Amercan Wars on the Societal Views of Women From the earliest times of man, women seemed to always be seen and treated as inferior, and certainly not equal. With the birth of the United States, and the wars that followed, the female population finally gained the confidence to voice their thoughts of their roles in society. The impact of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War , and the Progressive Eraimpacted the roles that women played in society in momentous ways because all three of these events were times of partial chaos with which came the more confident voices of women voicing their concerns about society s views of them. The Revolutionary War was a time when thoughts and views were not as easily muted and, because of this, women, for the first time in history, took advantage of this and voiced their concerns verbally and through their actions such as Abigail Adams and the Sons and Daughters of Liberty. Due to similar unrest, the Civil War proved to be an exceedingly important time for women because they were able to partake in a actions such as speaking out against slavery, filling male positions in factories, and even aiding wartime doctors. A final event that created arguably the most change for women is the early Progressive years and the spin off actions that followed such as the call for women s votes, the rising leadership roles that they called for, and even their aiding of the poor and sick in places such as the Hull House. • 7. Comparing The Different Classes Of Glutamate Receptors Essay Compare and contrast the different classes of glutamate receptors. Glutamate as a neurotransmitter In the brain, neurons communicate between each other and with target cells via a great numbers of chemicals they release, so called neurotransmitters. A signal in the brain is sent from a presynaptic neuron to a postsynaptic cell through synaptic transmission, allowing the brain to process information in a rapid way. (SГјdhof, Starke and Boehm, 2008) One of the most important transmitters within the vertebrate nervous system for normal brain function is known to be glutamic acid also known as glutamate. In the mammalian central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) is acknowledged that almost all excitatory neurons are glutamatergic and approximately more than 40% of the synapses in the brain release the amino acid glutamate. (Purves et al., 2001) The interaction of this major neurotransmitter with different cells in the brain is dependent on whether the cells express receptors for glutamate on their surfaces, to which they can bind and activate. (Hu, Ondrejcak and Rowan, 2012) Glutamate interaction with glutamate receptors plays a role in the efficacy of synaptic plasticity, which is fundamental for many neurological functions such as memory, learning, behaviour and in addition during development in the formation of neural connections within the central nervous system (CNS), thus allowing neurons to communicate with each other (Sundaram, Gowtham and Nayak, 2012) ... In the midst of one of our many design sessions, a member of the team expresses how he s feeling the sense that he s in this alone , that he doesn t feel any support from the team. With that a stark shift is felt in the room, both in the way the conversation and the concept under scrutiny is being approached by everyone at the table away from pure analytical reductionism towards an appreciative approach of discovering the possibility beyond the potential issues, the basis for innovationin all respects. His personal experience awoke us to good practice. (Petousis, Journal 4, 12 May 2015) Organisational development heralds from the industrial era, and was primarily focussed on efficiency in working roles, as well as the effective communications for the supply chain to function smoothly (Beckhard, 1969; Garrow, 2009). In that landscape the realms of personal life and personal experience were determined as mere distractions from the work at hand. What is being alluded to in the above excerpt (which is explained further below) is the power of subjective experience in the modern context of organisations. In the modern context the simplicity of the industrial era s inputs and outputs, the role based formulas for successful operations are commonly challenged (Martins Terblanche, 2003; Nadler Tushman, 1999; W. Honor was a competitive concept in Greek society. This held true not only for individuals but also for the highly competitive city states or poleis. Hence they were constantly at war with each other whether to add to their holdings or on issues of politics with the losing side ending up enslaved (for example the Messenians who were defeated and enslaved by the Spartans). This constant internal military pressure was the very catalyst that caused gradual changes over hundreds of years. Since kings were hereditary therefore it was always not possible to find a capable general as well as administrator in one person. The inevitable result was that the ancient warrior class the aristocrats who formed the bulk of the army as the cavalry by virtue of owning horses took the power of the general for themselves. This was the beginning of the second stage in the development of the constitution. Thus the office of Polemarch (leader in war) was instituted due to incompetence in war of some kings (Aristotle and Xenophon, p: 148). Consequently the office of Archon was established to manage the administration of the state and now the king, who was called King Archon, was left with only the vestigial religious functions. The multivalent themes and leitmotifs with which Vasari regales his readers the major and minor artists, the diligent and the delinquent, the inventive and imitative, the mentors and apprentices, the fathers and sons, and the mothers, wives and daughters bring the history of Italian Renaissance art to life in his monumental text. In order for us to understand the purpose of the preface pages, it is important first to consider the purpose of Vasari s text as a whole. Vasari was himself a notable artist and architect, however he made it his eventual duty to recognise the importance of artists in the historical timeline. More significantly, he would endeavour to distinguish between the good, the better and the best and how their stylistic methods are indicative of an artist s ability. In his prefaces he relays to his readers the immense body of work he tasked himself with, how artists were gifted or strived for their art, were innovators or followers, and how their perception as craftsmen or academics changed, all this in an attempt to educate those who wanted to learn about the story of art. Vasari divides his Vite into three parts spanning a period from Cimabue s trecento Italo byzantine style to his present day cinquecento where he places particular emphasis on Michelangelo. In this time we can observe a shift from a spiritual almost detached emotion to something more aesthetically substantial, something Vasari surmises as finally reaching the summit of perfection. ... The US Army Corps of Engineers allowed Georgia to withdraw water from Lake Lanier. However, Alabama and Florida filed a lawsuit against the Corps due to the fact that Georgia was withdrawing water from Lake Lanier which decreased the downstream levels. In the 2009 ruling, Georgia as increased their withdraw amount to the point exceeding WSA which affected the hydropower generation. In the 11th circuit Appeal, Georgians were given hope in an increase in withdraws from Lake Lanier, but in the end, the Corps repudiated Georgia s request. However, there was a problem with the law so the Corps is reevaluating Georgia s request. Georgia has responsibility issues between water storage and hydropower generation. • 44. Musical Conductors In Igor Stravinsky Musical conductors are individuals that help direct a musical performance. They will ensure that the band is in the right tempo and that each section of the ensemble enters the performance at the correct time. The conductors may use hand gestures or a baton in order to guide the band. Many people believe that musical conductors are beneficial and help improve a band s performance. However, Russian composer Igor Stravinsky disapproves of the usage of musical conductors as he believes that they are useless. Through comparisons and sarcastic language, Stravinsky criticizes the egotistical personalities and deceitful nature of musical conductors. Stravinsky addresses the artificiality of conductors through comparisons. In the introduction of the passage, Stravinsky highlights the similarities between conducting and politics. He explains that both conducting and politics rarely attracts original minds and are mostly used for the exploitation of personalities Politicians are known for being very dishonest. They often make empty promises in order to gain popularity and votes from the public. Stravinsky believes that conductors, like politicians, exist only to satisfy their audience, not to express their own perspective of the music. At one point, Stravinsky draws a comparison between anglers and musicians. While a conductor might be a incomplete musician , Stravinsky believes that a conductor must be a compleat angler . • 45. Key Examples Of Modern Racism In The United States Jacob Robl Callahan English 111 060M 24 September 2017 Modern Racism You could say that our country is growing in knowledge over the years, but the one fact many people lack is that all men and women are created equal no matter their race. Looking back into the history of the U.S. many of the most memorable building/structures were built by foreigners that we felt were not the same to whites. We issued them the title of slaves. Although in the past 100 s of years we have abolished slavery and slowly adopted them into our ways of living, there are many cases in which we still do not. Racism is a key example of why you can never say everyone is treated the same. On many accounts, there have been occurrences such as police brutality, hate crimes, slurs and many other disturbing feats towards people possibly that you hang out with on a regular basis. All of these can be examples of discrimination. The obvious dissatisfaction that comes from going online and reading about another black person shot by a white cop for no apparent reason is just ridiculous. It may not be that they are targeting people, but actually, just the feeling of discomfort while pulling them over or catching them. According to Richard Rowe, America s legal system is out of control. Not out of control in the sense that we can t do anything about it only in that as a system, it has lost all control of itself (Rowe). I would not go as far to say it is out of control, but rather say it is damaged in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He quickly ran up to his room in excitement, dodging his mother, along with the furniture and mess throughout the house. He got to his desk, the same one he sat three weeks prior and wrote his seemingly unbeatable article, and swiped his arm across it clearing everything in his path. Kyler sat down with the unopened envelope right in front of him. Thinking of what would happen in he reprimanded everything his mother had always told him. He sat there for hours, thinking of all the ways this could play out, none of them ending good for everyone so he grabbed the letter, hesitant at first, then confidently ripped the envelope to shreds.
