The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between providing comprehensive
guidance and avoiding overwhelming the reader. To effectively communicate the art of crafting
a compelling argumentative essay, one must delve into the intricacies of thesis formation,

utilization of logical reasoning, persuasive language, and effective organization. The challenge
lies not only in explaining these concepts but also in illustrating their application through relevant

Your Honor, I rise in favor of NYC, I believe it was constitutional for New York
City to arrest Student for Peace. In the Celebrate Lower East Side Day in Tompkins
Square Park, the festival was meant for the the diversity, creativity, and community in
the Lower East Side, but the Student For Peace did the complete opposite. Student
for Peace put up graphic photos that were inappropriate for children. When parents
complained about the photos to take them down they didn t obey. The recruiters tried
to stop it from being dangerous but it caused more chaos. The Students for Peace

for Peace is a small group of people that are just causing a danger in a park. In the
United States everyone has a right to the 1st Ammendment. People doesn t want their
rights to be violated because of a small group of people.
It wasn t the right time or place for the Student for Peace to start a riot. If a person
is charged or arrested for doing something it matters what time and where was it
done. In Schenck v. United States (1919), Justice Holmes stated, What someone is
constitutionally allowed to do depends upon the time and place in which it is
done. This quote means that if someone is allowed to do something it all depends
on what time or place it was done. For example, a person can t just yell Fire in a
crowded movie theater if there isn t actually a fire. That would ve caused a lot of
chaos that can cause injuries and also death. It all depends on the time and place.
This applies to Student for Peace because it was a park and there was a festival. In
the park there are supposed to be kids Student for Peace were handing out graphic
photos that were inappropriate for kids. Even if kids didn t take the flyers, in
festivals flyers are all over the place like the ground. So, kids can eventually see it.
Also, it was a festival to be a community not to fight.

Practice
The purpose of this paper is to thoroughly analyze a patient from a pathophysiological,
social, and philosophical perspective. The World Heath Organization (WHO) social
determinants of health will be applied to the patient data, emphasizing a
phenomenological approach to analyze the determinant of physical environment. By
understanding these various influences on a patient s health status, we can provide a
more holistic approach to health care for future patients.
Discussion of Assessment Findings and Application to Social Determinants A 59
year old male, whose initials have been changed to J.S. due to confidentiality
purposes, will be the patient for this paper. J.S. was admitted on January 12, 2014 to
the Emergency Room (ER) complaining of vomiting every 15 minutes and
abdominal pain rated at eight out of ten, on a scale where ten is the highest pain
level. J.S. described his abdominal pain as expanding from the inside of my stomach
(personal communication, January 15, 2014). J.S. was assessed and had an X ray
and Computed Tomography (CT) scan preformed while he was in the ER. The X
ray showed that his small bowel was distended as much as five to six centimeters,
and filled with air and gaseous. A CT scan of his abdomen and pelvic region showed
a narrowing of the GI tract lumen (J.S., Medical Chart, January 15, 2014). J.S. s
admitting diagnosis was a Small Bowel Obstruction (SBO), which is a form of

Sarah walked into the Doctors office. She was just turning 15, and had long black

would laugh and make fun of her, just because she had pimples.
Sarah McMahon s here for her appointment, Sarah s mother told the receptionist.
Sarah went and sat down in the waiting room. There were little children running
around, playing with toys. Sarah missed those day s. No one made fun of her for
her acne, and the biggest problem in life was who s turn it was to play in the sand box.

A few weeks?! Really? Sarah asked.
Yea, why don t we go into my office and we can look through a few of the ways to

colleagues had to deal with gender discrimination. When they tried to change the
unjust treatment, they were told by the university officials that you should just take
the basic salary because the rest of the services that men get you don t need (Maathai,

she became the first woman in East Africa to earn a Doctorates Degree. Her
experience with gender discrimination and her love for the environment enabled her
to join organizations that advocated for women s rights as well as environmental

King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature
Masculine by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette, and HarperCollins Publisher. The
book is about the 4 type of archetype of Masculinity, but it is use with different
purpose. I love the pace of the book and the message the author is trying to get across
is prominent, but there is somethings that I don t completely agree with.
Masculinity has four types of archetype, but they also come with different purpose.
The first archetype is the king. There is two different types of kings: King in his
fullness and The divine child. In king in his fullness is divided into a positive and
a negative, the positive is the tyrant and the negative is the weakling. The divine is
divided into a positive and a negative also and the positive is the high chair tyrant
and the negative is the weakling prince. The king is the source of the kingdom,
everything goes through him and when a king dies so is the kingdom, but soon
after the king dies he is replace by another well deserved king.. When the king is
wise and smart, all of his people will be safe from any harm and will be eating
good food. When the king becomes weak the kingdom s security goes down too and
the people feels unsafe. Basically, the king provides the blessing and fertility to the
kingdom.
The second archetype is the warrior. A warrior is the type

Daphne du Maurier is one of the most interesting female authors of Gothic literature

She is famous for many literary successes during her lifetime. Her literature is
unique because she was capable of adding a romantic twist to her gothic style of
writing. She borrowed ideas from many other gothic authors and mixed them
together so that the finished product was her very own (Buzwell). Some of her fans
also believe that Daphne s different style of writing resulted from her odd childhood (

dangerous, even fatal. It is experience, no innocence, knowledge, not ignorance,
which enable the narrator to survive (432). Daphne also showed how dangerous she
thought it was for women to be too submissive to men in this novel, she thought it
was deadly for both people in the relationship. Readers who have read Rebecca

9. Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs
Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout
history, one can see many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog
has grown in popularity over the years, which has encouraged people to buy an
English bulldog before even researching about them. In order to become a good
owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dogitself, and how to
properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the
breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have
shorter lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs
require a soft palate surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft
palates narrows the airways in bulldogs, causing increased airway resistance. This,
in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even death. Bulldogs also tend to have
problems with bones and joins. Chondrodysplasia, a structural defect found in

medical issues at a cheaper price, or one can buy a more expensive bulldog that has

that is just for the dog itself. A well bred bulldog usually is priced from a range of
1,500 to 4,000 dollars. The better the breeder, the more expensive the dog. On top
of that, the owner has to buy special insurance for a bulldog because of all its
health issues. They also have special diets and specific food allergies, which means
that the owner has to buy special bulldog food to fit their needs. Bulldogs all have

10. Identity in Cindy ShermanВґs Contemporary Art
Identity is one of the most significant aspects in the discourses of contemporary art.
An artist s identity can reveal cultural and personal truths about them through the
employment of specific subjects, techniques, and colors incorporated into their
artwork. Cindy Sherman, the famous feminist artist, portrays a plethora of different
identities in her photographic works in order to highlight societal issues such as
stereotypes, perceptions, and biases. Although Sherman does not blatantly set out to
become an activist for femininity, audiences inherently view her work as attempting
to cross boundaries and bring forth political statements because of the myriad
androgynous, feminine, and sexist facets integrated into her images. In order to
display the importance of identity in culture, Cindy Shermanrefrains from revealing
her own identity in her art and because of these ambiguous images, she allows for the
identities of her audience to be reflected back at them, bringing forth awareness of
inequality, while quietly calling for the anticipated change of these enduring stigmas.
Cindy Sherman began focusing her creative outlets through photographyduring her
time at Buffalo State College, NY in 1972 1976. Despite her future success with
photography, Sherman had considerable difficulty honing the techniques of darkroom
development. Nevertheless, the real magic clearly displayed in her photographs
began to occur in the very confines of her bedroom few years later. According to
11. California Prison System
The California prison system was created in response to the increased amount of
criminal activity that sparked during the Gold Rush years. Prior to the Gold Rush,
California had prided itself on being a land of health, beauty, and opportunity
(Bookspan, xviii). However, immigration and population growth surged, especially
amongst foreign convicts and aliens , resulting in increased crime. At first, it was
decided that punishment for small crimes would be a beating by whip while
punishment for serious crimes, like robbery or murder, would be hanging
(Kidport). After becoming a state in 1850, the California governor John McDougal
reacted to this method of punishment by beginning what is known as the California
PrisonSystem. The first prison within California was San Quentin, which began to
receive inmates in 1854, next was Folsom State Prison in 1880, then California
Correctional Institution in 1933, California Institution for Men in 1941, and
California Institute for Women in 1952 as well as multiple California state prisons
that have opened since then in cities such as San Diego, Sacramento, Chowchilla,
Avenal, Corcoran, Susanville, Vacaville, Crescent City, and many more (California
Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation). The early California prison systems
were very much influenced by the Auburn prison system, from the Auburn
Correctional Facility in Auburn, New York. This system imposed solitary
confinement to silence prisoners and promote meditations, but still
12. Mechanisms of Neuronal Repair Following Nerve Damage
Introduction
The normal function of the central and peripheral nervous systems depend highly on
the successful functionality of afferent and efferent neurons. Neurons are cells that
have the ability to transmit sensory and motor messages throughout the body. These
signals are promoted by electrically insulating myelin sheaths that surround the axons
of neurons. These sheaths are produced by Schwann cells and other glial cells. When
a neuron is damaged, a communicative circuit is compromised and essential
signals cannot be transmitted throughout the body. A major site of injury that puts
many essential neurons at risk is the spinal cord, which contains many neurons
essential for proper motor functionality. The spinal cord is made up of nervous
tissue within spinal vertebrae. The spinal cord receives sensory information from
the skin, muscles, joints, tissues, as well as other parts of the body, and then relays
information to and from the brain. Injury to the spinal cord can cause dislocation
of vertebrae, resulting in various paralyzing disabilities such as quadriplegia
(paralysis from the neck down) or paraplegia (paralysis of the lower body). The
severity of the disability depends on the location of the injury (Schwab et al. 2002).
There are two main phases of spinal cord injury. The first phase is physical tissue
destruction, which is followed by tissue loss caused by irregular blood supply to the
injury site. Because of this disrupted blood supply,
13. The Cask Of Amontillado And The Birth-Mark
Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne focus on concepts that relate to the darker
side of the human experience by creating characters that embody the relationship
between evil and abnormal psychology. The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan
Poe and The Birth Mark by Nathaniel Hawthorne feature characters that engage in an
abnormal or unusual behavior and suffer from a flawed, obsessive psyche that causes
them to commit evil or immoral acts. Montresor and Aylmer, the two main characters
of each short story, both exhibit obsessive compulsive behavior with one character
fixated on revenge and vengeance and the other attempting to transcend the limits of
human capabilities by altering nature to achieve perfection. Poe and Hawthorne are

Montresor s obsession was rooted in wrath and vengeance against a man who
supposedly had done him wrong. In fact, the very first line of the story discusses
his plan for revenge, which implies just how severe his obsession was. Poe writes,
The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he
ventured upon insult I vowed revenge (116). This insinuates that Montresor has been
dealing with this repetitive thoughts and obsessive behaviors for an extended period
of time and that at this point, they are interfering with his ability to live normally.
Poe continues with Montresor saying, It is equally unredressed when the avenger
fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong (116). This
haunting line also implies that Montresor is completely consumed with this idea of
revenge that he feels as though he has no other choice but to seek retaliation. This
plays into the larger idea of the relationship between evil and abnormal psychology in
a variety of ways. This indicates that Montresor was motivated by haunting, anxiety
fueled obsessive thoughts to commit the murder of Fortunato because of his distorted
perception of reality. Another example of this obsession can be seen when Montresor
is discussing his intricate, pre mediated plan for his murder. He had thought about
every possible detail of his master plan, from

Achieving personal goals is a great way to develop skills and abilities. It must be
borne in mind that the tragedy in life doesn t lie in not reaching your goal. It lies in
not having a goal at all, Benjamin E. Mays stated. So make sure you have a goal and
complete your goal. Goals have to be achieved and not with someone if it s a
personal goal. Some goals could be getting good grades, becoming what you wanted
to be and being a good sister or brother. It doesn t matter what your goals are or how
to achieve them all you have to do is achieve them. In Home Tip has a goal to save
her mom and see her again since she misses her mom.

16. The Effects Of Writing On Feminist Theory
The Effects of Writing on Feminist Theory
Throughout known history, societies that have developed across the globe have
favored men. Men were permitted to be lawyers, doctors, voters, and land owners;
however, one of the most influential, yet underpaid occupations for an individual is
the writer. Men have served for centuries as the mouthpiece for truth regarding all
things, until early feminists pushed for girls to receive education including key
success skills such as reading and writing. Most men were not thrilled about this
revolutionary change. Their efforts to uphold the traditional roles of women are
expressed through the character Gaston in Disney s Beauty and the Beast: It s not
right for a woman to read, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feminist theory was developed to recognize injustices against women, and proposes
action to change the situation universally (Young 20). The 1960s and 70s brought
second wave feminism, which occurred during the same time as the Civil Rights
movement and protests against the Vietnam War (Rich 7). The second wave of
feminism was said to be a transition focused on individual rights (Freedman 3).
Feminists who belonged to other minority groups received poor recognition from
mainstream feminists (Rich 31). Many issues among feminists themselves can be
seen on a larger scale throughout society itself; however, in order for second wave
feminism to be a success, cultural issues such as homophobia and racism needed to
be ironed out from within the group before feminists could expect any forward
progress. Due to poor recognition from white feminists, Black Feminism, as well as
several other subcategories of feminism, developed during this time (Freedman 4).
Black feminism arose from the civil rights movement and mainstream feminism.
From civil rights activists, black women were treated as second class citizens , and
racism came from their fellow feminist sisters. Black women ran an uphill battle,
fighting racism, classism, and even at times homophobia (Rich 32).
Black women are inherently valuable, and that our liberation is a necessity not as an
adjunct to somebody else s but because of our need as human persons for autonomy
(Rich 31).

The vibration in my pocket wasn t the first indicator that something was wrong, but
instead the last. It was the day after Thanksgiving, every shopper s favorite day and
every retail worker s least Black Friday. I was an hour into my shift at Barnes and

Reluctantly I let the phone call go to voicemail. A tight lump in my throat began to

18. The Pros And Cons Of Human Cloning
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of an existing, or
previously existing, human being or growing cloned tissue from that individual
(Science Daily). It does not occur naturally. Cloning used to be a subject that would
only arise in science fiction novels and movies; now it is one of the most
controversial topics today and becoming a reality. Cloninghas came up in popular
movies such as Star Trek Nemesis and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (
Best Clone Movies ). If human cloning has been featured in movies such as these,
what makes this so unacceptable? What s the harm in having a clone of yourself
walking around? Plants and animals have already been successfully cloned ( 10
Advantages and ). The next step is... humans. Human cloning violates human rights
and morals. If we fail to ban all forms of human cloning, society s continued ability to
regulate or ban future scientific research will be seriously diminished in the name of
autonomy and utilitarianism (Weldon). Human cloning is unethical and should stay
banned.
Cloning has seen numerous amounts of failures. Dolly the sheep, the first cloned
mammal, was born on July 5, 1996. This experiment took 270 trials before the
scientist, Ian Wilmut, succeeded. However, a major setback happened in 2003
when she died at only six years old ( History ). The average lifespan of a sheep is 10
12 years old, so when she mysteriously died, this raised many questions. The animals

20. Francis And Al-Kamil
Francis and al Kamil shared stories of faith with one another. They met regularly and
discussed matters of faith. Although the two did not share the exact same beliefs,
they grew a profound respect for one another. When Francis left to return home, al
Kamil presented him with a trumpet made of ivory.
By 1220, the order numbered five thousand friars and needed to be governed more
cogently. Francis could no longer handle the duties of overseeing so many people, so
Pope Honorius III required him to bring more organization to the order. At this
time, Francis appointed Peter of Catanii as minister general to oversee the order.
Within a year, Francis wrote a more formal letter to govern the order. Over the next
few years, he would debate and revise the rule. In 1223, Pope Honorius III approved
the Third Order.
The Beginning of the End
Over the next few years, his health would continue to deteriorate. He contracted a
form of leprosy and was mostly blind. He returned to San Domiano and was placed
under the care of Clare and the sisters. He asked to be taken back to Portiuncula. It
is there that he dies and is buried in 1226.

21. Nt1310 Unit 1 Network Analysis
Written Assignment Unit 1
In general, on the internet, every packet follows 5 layers of structures
(Application, Transport, Network, Data Link, and Physical). Since I have to talk
about Connection Oriented and Connectionless as a service, I will focus on the
Transport layer because they are part of this layer. It allows multiple applications
to use one network connection simultaneously, the layer will create ports on your
computer allowing them to be reserved and used by the Application layer. Let s say
that port 3600 will be used to send a message to port 80 of some other computer,
whenever the port is ready to send a message, it passed on to Transport layer. In this
layer, it wraps the message inside the Segment which contains some additional ...

Also, UDP is connectionless which means that there is no need for creating a
connection first before sending out data and have more control over when data is
sent out. Because data corruption is a common occurrence on the internet, UDP has a
primitive form of error detection but it is not that reliable because it doesn t
recover the error it just will be discarded. Even if the network is busy, UDP will try
to cram packets in the network and this is a bad strategy because it will cause
more collisions. Here where TCP comes, for having certain features that make the
connection more reliable. However, it also has a bigger communication over than
UDP. TCP s connection is based on negotiating first before doing anything, this
known as the three way handshake. If any error is detected, TCP offers
retransmission when a receiver doesn t get a delivery a package. So, it will send it
again guaranteeing your data to reach its destination in time and without
duplication. Since all the work is done by the operating system, It automatically
breaks up data into packets for you. So you just need to sit back and watch the
show. Even the debugging is taken care of by your OS and if there are bugs in your
OS, then you will face many problems like problems in surfing and downloading
contents from the net. I do prefer the TCP service because it does all the work for you

Compare and contrast the social policies of the Clark Labour Government (1999
2008) with those of the Key Government (2008 present)
Introduction
Key Government has many similar ideas as the Clark Labour Government. In order
to compare two different governments, we need to know the context of the whole
society including economy, politics, culture, international environment. The problems
and needs in these society, the causes of diverse problems, the ideology and value of
different governments and policies they promote are also significant. In this essay,
we are going to discuss the similarities and differences of policies between the Clark
Labour Government and the Key Government from the aspect of ideology.

Actually, the Clark Labour Government got a number of positive outcomes during its
days and had achieved an acceleration in the rate of economic growth, the lowest rate
of unemployment and the realization of treasury surpluses under the Third
Way(Cheyne, O Brien Belgrave, 2008).
On the other hand, under the economy background of global financial crisis and
economic recession in New Zealand, the Key Government took over the
government from the Clark Labour Government in 2008. Being different from Clark
Labour Government, the Key Government has been considered as a practitioner of
neo liberalism. Neo liberalism has been defined by David Harvey (2005, p2)as :
a theory of political economic practices that proposes that human well being can best
be advanced by liberating individual entrepreneurial freedoms and skills within an
institutional framework characterized by strong private property rights, free markets
and free trade.
There is no doubt that neo liberals In belief, the state s intervention will really destroy
freedoms, equalities, and liberties, this intervention can only emerge when necessary,
and individuals should not depend on government services but to take responsibilities
for themselves, according to neo liberals views.

The Unified Modeling language (UML) was released by the Object Management
Group (OMG) in the effort to provide a standardized design language to build and
develop computer applications. The purpose of the design language is to allow IT
professionals to distribute system structure and design plans in a comprehensible
graphical manner, similar to blueprints of a building. Modeling is an important part
of software projects, large and small. With modeling, the software development
team are better able to work with the end user in providing a visual program design.
Surveys reveal that the development of large software applications have many

The use case diagram s purpose is to help development teams visualize the
functional requirements of a system, including the relationship of actors (human
beings who will interact with the system) to essential processes, as well as the
relationships among different use cases. The class diagram shows how the
different entities (people, things, and data) relate to each other. The Sequence
diagrams is almost self explanatory, it shows a detailed flow for a specific use case
or even just part of a specific use case. The statechart diagram models the different
states that a class can be in and how that class transitions from state to state.
Activity diagrams show the procedural flow of control between two or more class
objects while processing an activity. A component diagram provides a physical view
of the system. Its purpose is to show the dependencies that the software has on the
other software components (e.g., software libraries) in the system. The deployment
diagram shows how a system will be physically deployed in the hardware
environment. Its purpose is to show where the different components of the system
will physically run and how they will communicate with each other. Two main
criticisms of UML is whether diagrams are needed at all, and during what stage of
the software development process they should be used, also, the frequency of any
updates of the diagrams. The other is that the UML diagrams just lack the detail

The book(s) I have ever read is the House of Night series. It is a captivating series
that once you pick up; you will not want to put down. It is an entrancing series that
will draw you in so fast, you won t even realize how it happened. Some reasons I
love the House of Night are the characters, the interesting plot, and all the drama.
First, I love the characters of the House of Nightseries because without them I
wouldn t have read such an amazing and intriguing series. All the characters have
distinct personalities that add to the whole story of this book. Zoey Redbird is the
main character of this series. But, as you get further along in the series, she seems to

particular series. The main character, Zoey Redbird, seems to be the circle of
attention. In the first book, Marked, obviously is where Zoey is marked. Her
mother s husband, John Heffer, believes Zoey is evil when she was marked to

The Physics of a Golf Ball
The first written reference of golf was in 1457. Golf balls have had extraordinary
changes since that time; they ve gone from leather pouches to dried gum to today s
dimpled balls. These dimples help decrease the drag and increase the lift. Different
forces are applied to the golf ball when struck by the club. Golf clubs have grooves
to create backspin. And then there are different variables that affect how a golf
ball will travel, these include: lie angle and the shaft length. A golfer must never
forget about the wind factor . And last but not least , a golfer must flat out use his
own judgment in the game of golf. The game of golf has a science all of it s own,

Therefore, the Gutta percha ball arrived on the scene in 1848 to take on the role of
smooth, solid, dried gum from the Malaysian sapodilla tree. These guttie balls had
two negatives; they sometimes broke into pieces as some modern solid balls have
been known to do and they did not fly as well as the feather balls. None the less, as
these balls were used their surfaces became roughened. Players soon realized,
however, that cut up balls flew further and the concept of dimples was born. But
why are dimples purposely molded into the modern day golf ball? This question
deals with the way that air affects the flight of a spinning object (or aerodynamics if
you will) and that s the bottom line. Moreover, two simple principles will be
discussed in great detail hereafter: lift and drag. Let s not run faster than we are able

about a spinning ball. A British scientist in 1887, Professor P.G. Tait owns all the
credit to the findings concerning the importance of spin on the flight of a golf ball.
He relates that in his youth he was taught that all spin is detrimental and he practiced
assiduously to master the art of hitting a ball almost free of spin. After many
complex and frustrating experiences, Professor Tait states clearly that, a ball driven
with spin about a horizontal axis with the top of the ball coming toward the golfer,

The changes of human behavior in receiving information in the twenty first century
causes businesses to use viral marketing. At present, consumers are more convenient
to access to the information because of the development of technology. To require
the information is only search in the internet by using computers, laptops or even

abundance of access to the information and numerous social networks that influence
consumers make a decision to buy a new products or services by asking individuals

instead of watching advertisement. In an article by Leboff (2012a), customer will
make a decision based on consumer word of mouth by referral or online search. This
means, if there are abundance of positive word of mouth in the internet and
prospective customers can reach that information, there is a potential to convince
prospective customers to buy products or services. Therefore, businesses should

28. Sita Sings The Blues And Ramayana Comparison
The Ramayana is an Indian epic which demonstrates what it means to be the perfect
man or woman in Indian culture. Due to the story s mass popularity, there have been
many renditions created about it. One of those versions is Sita Sings the Blues, an
animated film version of The Ramayana created by Nina Paley in 2008. Because of
the significant time difference between The Ramayana and the modern Sita Sings the
Blues, the values presented in the two works differ, as indicated in several ways. One
particular event within the two interpretations that displays both similarities and
differences is when Sita is captured by Ravana. Although The Ramayana and Sita
Sings the Blues present the epic and its values in very unalike ways, there are still
some elements of the story that remain the same within both works. For instance, in

Rama simply begins searching for her and only asks, In which direction did they

results in opposing values because Rama s behavior in The Ramayana suggests that
the perfect man should not show emotion and should on fulfill his duties, that being
to save Sita in this scenario. However, Sita Sings the Blues makes it seem as though
men were valued when they appeared emotional, which was not the case. Overall,
The Ramayana is a very valuable epic due to how successfully it describes ancient
Indian values and culture. Sita Sings the Blues, despite its differences, does a great
job illustrating the story and making it entertaining for a modern

P4: Describe the features and functions of information systems
In this document I am going to describe the features and functions of an information
system. The businesses I am going to use are Campsmount Academy and Wabtec.
An information system is a combination of People, IT and business processes that
helps management make decisions to run their business successfully.
Features of an information systems
Data
Data is a very important feature in an information system. The data in these systems
are stored in its original form. This is because the important information in the system
can be used when needed to do specific functions. For example, WABTEC s
integrated information system. In this system important data is stored. Such as,
personal information (address, name, department), shift patterns, different contract
information and supplier information. All this information is placed in one
document with drop down menus. This allows the user to search and find the
information easier and it is simple. Also the data will be clearer and easier to
understand as there will be only that piece of data that has been searched for seen.
People
People that use these types of information systems need to be trained and qualified to
use them as this will help reduce the risk of incidences happening and losing valuable
information. Qualified people are required to make the system so that they are
familiar that the companies system. If they don t make the system they need to be

her brother was a traitor, he banned his rights to be buried, having his body rot on

shows her grief and foreshadows her suicide. I urge no more; nay, wert thou

Gender relations and inequality is experienced through lack of educational matters
and unfair treatment of women and children, thus in many cases forcing women to
run households, while the men are away at work in various seasonal migration jobs at
unviable wages. As defined in a classic article, income inequality is the distribution of
total income amongst the represented population (Gehring13). In outlined studies;
evidence can conclude that poor genderrelations in fact can be convoluted into other
issues such as overpopulation, child malnourishment, low levels of GDP, and GNI.
This in fact sounds to be true for what India is experiencing today. The predominant
issue of gender inequality has led many down the pathway to poverty... Show more

Social equality, along with liberty and fraternity, was one of the core ingredients of
the Western Enlightenment and the humanist revolution, which infused even
common men with rights.
Another supported claim that attributes to this idea of inequality and gender relations
is the insights from three indigenous scholars living in India, which I had the
privilege of looking in depth to their encounters. They were able to infer that female
fetuses are often at times killed off and men are always subject to be the dominant
figures in societal practices. They have provided insights that advancement in
technology has provided a way that women wouldn t be treated like valueless
customers, but rather provide population control incentives such as nation state
prosperity. (Dube, R., Dube, R., Bhatnagar) This will be a future planning strategy
that might undermine well with the current situation of this issue at hand today.

33. Sunset Song Analysis
Sunset Song is one of the most revered and acclaimed Scottish novels of the 20th
century, dealing with subjects such as sexuality or violence in a way that was not
common at the time. The novel focuses on the life of Chris Guthrie, a young woman
living in rural Scotland who goes through many adversities related to family, farming
life, and love. War is an important background factor to take into account as well.
This question raises various issues, in terms of the plot itself, and how Chris evolves
throughout the story, and how her opinion and feelings about the land change. She is
seemingly uninterested in the family s way of living at the beginning of the novel,
although she always seems more compliant than her brother, who revolts several
time against his father s authority, and eventually leaves the farm in favour of
Argentina, accompanied by his young bride Molly. We must, however, take into
consideration the way the novel does not start with the Guthrie s story, but rather
with a tale of myths, and battles. This seems to give the reader a sense of wonder,
as if they were reading about something almost mystical, divine. This impression
quickly changes, as they are introduced to this family, who s members are unhappy,
some to the extreme of deciding on taking their life and others . Such is the example
of Chris mother who, after being raped by her own husband, and bearing two more
unwanted children, is driven by her own misery to take her life and the twins . This
seems to present the reader with the harsh reality the characters face, even with the
poetic narrative softening things up.
Throughout the course of the novel, the narrative voice seems to be even more
mystical when it is focused on Scotland, especially Aberdeenshire, and the land itself,
making the reader feel as though they were there, contemplating something magical.
Once again, the events that take place bring them back into this cruel reality where
they find the father trying to convince Chris to lay with him, but eventually fails,
since he is bedridden because of a stroke he had. Here and many other times it is
obvious the main character struggles with the idea of Kinraddie, and the farm, but this
is usually related to family issues.

Personal...
Consciousness is the way beings have their own personal experiences in their minds.
In other words, how they experience every day situations in their own personal view
or perspective. Ned Block (1995) explains that phenomenal consciousness is
experience; what makes a state phenomenally conscious is that there is something it
is like to be in that state. Susan Blackmore (2012) said that consciousnesswas
subjective; meaning consciousness is personal and cannot be shared with anyone
else. Study and research on consciousness has advanced and increased in the past
years. The Laboratory of Nuero Imaging states that humans have at least 70,000
thoughts racing through their heads on a normal day. These thoughts make up a part
of our consciousness; our ongoing dose of qualia, or private internal experiences. It is
obvious that humans have consciousness, but do other organisms share this
capability? One experiment compared the cognitive ability of humans and great apes
at the early stages of their development. Mammals, like apes and monkeys, do have
consciousness based on anecdotal evidence, research, and experiments.
Every animal is distinct and diverse, but some share similar traits. Their brain sizes
and capacities differ based on their species. Monkeys and apes are primates that
share comparable qualities. Primates are mammals, and mammals are, according to
Liana Vitali and Lucie Muir (2005), warm blooded vertebrates which nurse their
young on milk produced by the
35. Dante s Inferno And Beowulf Analysis
Importance of Name and Remember in Dante s Inferno and Beowulf
One of the important themes that stands out in Dante s epic poem, Inferno , is a
theme of legacy via endurance of one s name. In other words, the human need to
have one s name and story shared with others in an effort to gain some sense of
immortality. Even from the depths of hell the characters in the Inferno express a wish
to have their stories told. The Inferno tells of Dante s adventure through the depths of
Hell with the spirit of the great Roman poet Virgil as his guide. In this epic
adventure, Dante treks the Nine Circles of Hell and in each circle he encounters
prominent figures in both his personal life and in history. The poem as a whole is a
commentary on sins and transgressions, but the significance of these transgressions
are amplified with the attachment of names we the readers recognize from history
and literature. Among them are figures one would expect to be Hell for their
famous transgressions such as Judas Iscariot, Attila the Hun and Brutus but also
more surprisingly Ulysses, the hero from Homer s Iliad and Odyssey, who is in the
Eighth Circle of Hell for the crime of spiritual theft and Pope Celestine V, whom
Dante condemns for abdicating the papacy and thus allowed Pope Boniface VIII to
become the new pope. This was a transgression worthy of hell in Dante s eyes
because historically Pope Boniface VIII was something of a rival to Dante, who had
been an advocate for the separation of

38. The Short StoryScarlet Ibis, By James Hurst
Atychiphobia is the fear of failure. An abundance of people spend the majority of
their lives attempting to prevent failure, although it is ultimately inevitable. When
individuals attempt to cope with the repercussions of failure, they may experience
feelings of unworthiness, disappointment of loved ones, and a desperation for them
to be successful which can result in them overwhelming themselves to the point
where it may harm them mentally or physically. In the short story Scarlet Ibis, by
James Hurst, the narrator s younger brother Doodle experiences failure since the
moment he is born, making everyone have low expectations for him. He strives hard
to exceed these expectations which ultimately results in his death.
Failure is accompanied with many negative emotions such as disappointment, despair,
guilt, and unworthiness. These emotions can cause individuals to feel unpleasant
mentally and physically. When faced with a feelingof unworthiness, an individual
may attempt to make up for the failure by tackling a nearly impossible task. Doodle
felt unworthy because he was different that the other children, he pushed himself to
incredible lengths just to be considered normal. In order to achieve this Doodle
would swim until he turned blue and row until he couldn t lift another oar (5). The
risk of being physically harmed did not even occur to Doodle because his priority

lives are lost, thousands of innocent people die because of hatred and the needs for
power. The poem Disabled and the text The Last Night are both based on war and
the destruction that war causes: losing lives, losing families, losing body parts and
losing innocence. Disabled and The Last Night both convey the impact of waron the
young, innocent people. Disabled conveys the message of soldiers losing themselves

affected the rest of his life. The two brothers in The Last Night were also young and
innocent but they were unfairly punished for no reason. They were both credulous
on how their sibling bond would soon be broken as they would probably be
separated in the concentration camps. Unfortunately, both authors relay the realities
of war, how misguided the soldiers were when joining the army and how war ruined
the lives of the
41. The Underlying Assumptions Of Consumer Sovereignty
Theory
Consumer sovereignty is the theory that consumers are the main elements in the
economy because they exert ultimate control over the economy. Through their
spending decisions, individual consumers ultimately determine the quantities and
qualities of goods and services produced and the availability of these goods and
services in time and space.
An example of consumer sovereignty is illustrated as follows: A drinks company
introduces two types of drinks in two continents: Drink A and Drink B. Drink A
sells very well in Africa and Drink B in Asia. Only the one that sells well in Africa
(Drink A) will remain in production in Africa whilst the one that sells well in Asia
(Drink B) will remain in production in Asia. Continuing to produce Drink B in Africa
and Drink A in Asia is not economically viable as the consumers in these regions do
not prefer it. Thus, through their purchasing pattern, the consumers have influenced
what goods continue to remain in production.
The underlying assumptions of consumer sovereignty theory in an ideal market are:
i.That the consumers are rational and try to make choices that maximize their utility
ii. That consumers have all the information needed to make the optimal choice iii.
That consumers are able to purchase goods and services in a competitive marketplace
Based on the above, consumer sovereignty in healthcare would imply that society
benefits at large when healthcare providers and organizations compete to develop
high quality products and

43. The Mistreatment of Circus Animals
Imagine being in a circus ring watching tigers and lions leaping through blazing
rings of fire, elephants standing on their heads, and monkeys riding red bicycles
for a colossal crowd of screaming, cheering fans. The elephant s exhausted, worn
body is swamped with intricately designed drapes. The sweet, endearing smell of
fresh cotton candy and popcorn fills the air with excitement. When the show has
reached the grand finale and has come to an end, a trainer arrives with a bull hook
and thrusts it into the elephant s side. Bloody wounds are all over its body from the
mistreatment of the circusindustry. This is the life that circus animals live each and
every day. The animals are mistreated on a routine basis and are crammed into small
boxcars for more than three fourths of their life, serving the public for a moment of
entertainment each night. The life of a circus animal is one of pure, unending misery.
The use of animals in circus shows is inhumane because they are a threat to public
health, and they are mistreated when outside of the public eye.
Beginning the process of putting together a circus show takes a colossal abundance
of work. First, some exotic animals must be captures and trained. The majority of
circus animals are caught in the wild; the animals put in several years of service to
the circuses, such as Ringling Brothers Circus. Animals that are born into the circus
business are held until the need to replace a retiring performer arises (Minutes of

People are not born the same but they are born innocents. People are different in

Racism and discrimination has been noticeable in our world. In the Great War, Native
Canadians Indian men volunteered to join and serve the Allied forces in European
battlefields, inspiring people around the world with their achievements and sacrifices.
In three Day road, Joseph Boyden raises awareness about the discriminationagainst
Native Americans that still exists today. Xavier and Elijah face the struggles of

Xavier doesn t know how to speak English and at times faces discrimination and
racist acts because of his identity. Racist and discriminating comments are made
against Xavier, but he doesn t defend himself with words but with actions on the
battlefield. Xavier had two challenges in the battlefield, one was how to survive
death and the other was fighting discrimination and uncomfort. The military s
official language was English, Xavier s struggle with himself is clearly stated here
as his first language is not English. Whiskeyjack is how they say his name, make it
their own...what sounds to my ears like a longer word for bastard, making his
name a name without a family, explains Xavier Page 154. All of the Canadians are
fighting with each other against a common enemy. The way Xavier deals with
culture division, identifying it and holding on to his culture, and how Elijah
handles it, by settling in the white culture. This shows how Xavier interprets
culture clash. Xavier thinks when Elijah accepts the white pronunciation he is
losing his identity through the culture clash in Xavier s eyes. Xavier cooperates
more with his culture which is why he sees the mispronunciation as a way of
running away of his real identity, and Elijah does not see it the same way. Xavier is
always seeking help from Elijah because Elijah was raised in an English speaking
school which was also an advantage Elijah had over Xavier but unfortunately jealousy
grew between them and
45. Decision Making Models In Hal Rainey s Understanding
And...
In the context of public organizations, there are a number of decision making
models that can applied to the actions of these organizations. In his book
Understanding and Managing Public Organizations, Hal Rainey outlines a number
of different theories of organizational decision making that explain why
organizations do what they do. The three most prominent theories he describes are
rational decision making, incremental decision making, and mixed scanning. Each
of these will be discussed in depth for their merit and shortfalls. Rational decision
making is the first and simplest method of making decisions. It is the least
complex model of decision making and it has essentially four baseline factors that
play into it. According to Rainey, rational decision making takes place when the
actor making decisions is aware of and understands the goal that he or she is trying
to complete. In addition, the actor must be able to determine the importance of the
goals being evaluated and then prioritize them accordingly. After this has been done
the actor looks at and evaluates all the different ways that a goal can be
accomplished, and as a result the actor chooses the action that accomplishes the
target goal the most efficiently and effectively. Due to the often times, complex and
politically volatile nature of the public sector, rational decision making models are
best applied to less important decisions. For example, a rational decision making
model can be applied to day to day
46. The Great Depression By Milton Freidman And Paul
Samuelson
Introduction: Background Information
The Great Depression is defined as an era of hardship and was the economic
downturn in the history of the Western industrialized world . The United States was
predominantly affected by the Great Depression, soon after stock market crash of
October 1929. This fiscal crisis sent Wall Street, the center of economics in New
York into a state of prolonged recession that affected foreign economies.
In the next few years in America, unemployment increased immensely, consumer and
investor spending decreased and by 1933, the Great Depression had reached its nadir
as some 13 15 million Americans were unemployed and nearly half of the country s
banks had collapsed.
Since its occurrence, The Great Depression has sparked debates among economists
and perhaps the most accurately represented are from a television debate in 1969.
Two economists, Milton Freidman and Paul Samuelson presented their positions on
the Depression. Friedman, believed it had a single cause: errors in carrying out
monetary policy in the United States. Samuelson argued it was the result of a series
of historical accidents. These opinions are quite famous when referring to this topic,
but many economists, such as Mr. Charles Kindleberger, believes there are more
factors that should be taken into consideration.

The World in Depression 1929 1939 provides further insight on the Great Depression
