2. No More Tom Ripley Analysis
No more Tom Ripley than Dickie Greenleaf, he returned to New York City behind a confused
veil of anonymity. Occasionally, a sharp memory would point its way to the forefront of Ripley
s mind for just a moment: a moment that lasted just long enough for the piercing thought to
puncture his brain. Guilt had Ripley in a stranglehold, periodically loosening its grip to allow
fear to take over. Caught in a downward spiral that disguised itself as an endless loop, Ripley
found himself regretting decisions he hadn t yet made. Enough trauma came about on the trip
back to New York: twenty four hour cycles comprising mental re enactments of Peter s death,
staring at blank walls, and wondering how many extra murders it would take to cover the
previous ones up. Ripley could never progress while brooding in a sombre cabin without so much
as even a smirched window for a glimmer of light, let alone solve his problems entirely.... Show

However, the good intentions subsided once fear of Meredith, Marge, and Dickie s parents
meeting struck in. It was difficult to comprehend how such a small event such as Marge
convincing Greenleafs about Dickie s death could spark such an immense series of repercussions
for Ripley. After all, New York City was a small place when you considered the tight social circles
of the Greenleafs wealthy lifestyles. Ripley s mind had grown accustomed to a certain path of
thinking, funnelling into an obvious solution; but the Greenleafs might not have even gone close to
encountering Marge since he had returned, and Meredith may have still been in Italy, for all he
knew. It wasn t a path he wanted to follow, but then, it never

3. Ncfe Teaching Assistant Essay
The primary objective of a teaching assistant is to support the school by carrying out a variety of
tasks in order to create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment thus allowing teachers
more time to focus on teaching. It is therefore paramount to remain flexible at all times. The
purpose of this essay is to summarise the major learningpoints from the Teaching Assistant Diploma
Course. I will address the nine subject areas separately.
Supporting the teacher Teachers are incredibly busy and the teaching assistant is a valued asset to
ensure that under the guidance and supervision of the teacher the classroom is organised and
maintained.
The ways in which this can be done is by preparing and maintaining the learning ... Show more

Unlike physical development that is visual, a child s social and emotional development is also
generalised according to age but can t be seen. Every child is unique and for that reason although
general milestones can be used as a guide to expectation, it must be remembered that each child
will develop at his/ her own pace.
The brain development of a child can be seriously affected by their well being during the early
years. Genetic illness, social/ economic factors, culture and influence of carers, stress and harm
caused by lack of stimulation, engagement and positive relationships can all influence development.
Signs such as behavioural problems, low self esteem, apprehension, lack of concentration and
attention seeking could all be signs of emotional distress. In order to support the pupil, teaching
assistants need to have strategies to cope with pupils displaying such symptoms. Schools need to
provide a safe, positive, supporting environment with equal emphasis on pastoral care as much as
academics.
Pupils should be encouraged to strive for independence and take responsibility for their actions and
learning. This may be through input into rules, choices regarding behaviour, or identification of
success criteria and evaluation of learning.
The classroom provides opportunity for self expression in a variety of curriculum areas. The
teaching assistant should support

4. Lou Gehrig’s Farewell Speech Essay
Lou Gehrig s Farewell Speech Throughout the course of American history, there have been
copious amounts of famous speeches, spoken by many different people. From political figures
to sports players; these people have provided deep thoughts and great insights about who they
are and the world we live in today. Being a sports enthusiast, a memorable speech comes to my
mind. Lou Gehrig s farewell speech , given on July 4th, 1939, to more than 62,000 fans at New
York City s Yankee Stadium, has become a cornerstone in the history of baseball in America. Lou
Gehrig is considered one of the most under rated sports players of all time. Gehrig played in the

Gehrig was not removed from playing baseball; rather, Gehrig took himself out, after not being
able to leg out an infield hit. Gehrig was diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease called
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig s disease); Lou Gehrig would never play
baseball again. The purpose of his farewell speech was to formally address his fans all over the
world, and confirm the rumors that Gehrig would never play baseball again. There are several
different structures that could be used to describe this speech, but the main structure is cause
and effect. A lot of Gehrig s fans believed that this unfortunate diagnosis would cause some sort
of depression, anger within himself, or withdrawal from the American people. This was not the
case, however. Gehrig s first line of his speech, Fans, for the past two weeks you have been
reading about the bad break I got. Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this
Earth. Clearly shows cause and effect structure. The diagnosis of Lou Gehrig s disease did not
cause Gehrig to be depressed; rather, it caused Gehrig to be thankful for what he had. Throughout
this speech, each form of rhetoric is used. The first obvious rhetorical appeal would be Ethos. A
prestigious sports figure like Lou Gehrig definitely has ethos appeal. Lou Gehrig got the attention
of thousands maybe millions of people when he gave his

Overall consensus on living learning communities is resoundingly positive from both the students
who take part in them and the colleges that administer these programs. In terms of the past
research, LLCs benefit students in a variety of ways. As described by multiple students in a
conducted interview, LLCs provide a home away from home by creating a sense of hearth that is
unparalleled to anything else found on campus (Brower, 2010). This creation of a specific type of
environment that feels welcoming to the students helps ease the transition from the experiences of
either a community collegeor highschool, to that of a university. Specifically in the case of at risk
students, undergraduates deemed likely to drop out of schooling for academic,... Show more content

The head administers and creators of the NSLLP, Dr. Karen Inkelas and Dr. Keith Brower both

field of living learning communities. Launched in 2001, the NSLLP is a survey tool which assesses
how participation, or lack thereof, in a living learning program/community influences the social,
academic, and developmental paths of colleges students. The survey, which is based on previous
literature on LLCs, takes in inputs such as a student s demographics or high school achievements as
well as various environmental factors. These factors, such as the student s major, peer and teacher
interactions, and extracurricular activities are all taken into consideration by the administers of the
survey. The algorithm then outputs the percent chance of dropout risk, their sense of belonging,
and and appreciation of diversity among other things (Brower, 2004). The NSLLP was
administered to both students in and not in a living learning community in order to accurately
gauge the effects that LLCs have on a student. The study, which was repeated once in 2007 and
again in 2014, has become the cornerstone of the majority of research done in the the field of

English III Honors Period 4 Prohibition Prohibition was the eighteenth amendment. It prohibited
the production and consumption of alcoholic beverages. People would have never thought of
excoriating alcohol until the 19th century (Tyrrell 16). During this time widespread crime and
dismay arose. Some beneficial things did come out of this period of chaos such as women were
able to prove themselves as people their temperance movements. During this time many things
happened that led to Prohibition s strongest point and to its fall. Prohibition proved to be a failure

This marked the end to a lengthy thirteen year period of the great experiment, which was
prohibition. When the Great Depression began people complained the prohibition took away jobs
and money for the government. At this period in time, people had little money or hope and alcohol
was a way out. In conclusion in an effort to limit crime, alcoholism, prostitution, and poverty the
United States government failed, but women had a chance to show their competency and their
ability to voice their opinions. Prohibition did indeed lead to the birth and growth of organized
crime. The great experiment that was prohibition did not accomplish its goals of solving the social
problems of America or eliminating alcohol consumption. But, it will always be remembered for
causing Americans to reflect on the effects of alcohol on society. Works Cited Coffey, Thomas M.

9. Enlightenment Philosophers Dbq Essay
The Enlightenment Philosophers: What Was Their Main Ideas? Big ideas are the start of big
changes. In the 17th and the 18th century in Western Europe, well educated philosophers or
philisophes came up with ideas to change society and base things off of individual freedom and
individual decisions. Philosophers used natural laws and observation to form their ideas and to
change society. The philosophers believed that great individual freedom would improve society.
This was true in the aspects of political, economic, and gender equality freedom.
John Locke argued that people should have the right as an individual to create a good government.

possessions and persons, as they think fit within the bounds of the law of nature... (Doc A). Humans

believes women are seen as ignorant and inferior, but to make women equal to men, they should
be allowed to study the same topics as men. As Wollstonecraft said, Make them free, and they
will quickly become wise and virtuous... (Doc D). Women did house chores all day as men
would go to school or work. When the men come home and talk about their day, the women can
not have a conversation because they are not educated. To have an actual conversation, women
need to be educated in the same topics as men. Wollstonecraft s main idea was to have gender
equality and social freedom. Everyone should have the freedom as an individual to be able to get

Haiti and Jamaica were both colonized for economic purposes. Like the other Caribbean islands
that were initially inhabited by native peoples such as the Taino, they traded hands as one
European power after another fought each other claiming territory for their selves. Haiti
eventually fell to the French and England took Jamaica. Both islands were used for sugar
production and both France and England relied on slave labor for success. The native populations
were not a part of the European slave system because they were either wiped out during the initial
conquests or were able to emigrate to familiar lands in the Caribbean. France and England
capitalized on the existing slave market of western Africa to supply the demand for labor. European
exploitation of slaves from Africa increased the slave trade so that, until the trade was abolished in
the late nineteenth century, millions of humans were stolen from their homeland and transported

11. The Story Of Ghosts By Henrik Ibsen
Duty To Death The story of Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen shows us a multitude of issues, whether the
readers think the piece as a basic form of literature or believe that the scripture shows the issues
and lies or the fighting facts of injustice in the text. The constant fight between free will and duty in
this story triumphs the characters of Mrs. Alving and Pastor Manders as they convene over what
they think is right and what they are bound to do, even as the smaller character of Regine slightly
deals with the same issue.
Duty comes up in repeated cycles throughout the script of Ghosts, and the roles people are bound
to in their life relays to the role they act in society. The duty of Mrs. Alving is no soft tale, as we
are told of her husband s horrid affairs. The wife and mother of her nature and setting is duty
bound to protect her husband s reputation, no matter how unsavory he is, and to sacrifice
everything for her son. In return, the son must love his mother. In a way, we question the duty
of the mother and ask whether or not it was right of Mrs. Alving to cover her husband s actions
from her son, Osvald. Despite Ibsen s opinion of conspiracy, the cover up and how he writes the
script as if he supports the hiding and the sacrifice, the reader on their own must make a choice in
the matter. For Mrs. Alving to know her motherly duty and protect her son during his young years
was a courageous execution for the paths she found available. As said by George Bernard Shawin

12. Two Types Of Contraction
Types of contractions
Isometric: During isometric contractions, muscles stay in a static position and this helps
muscular endurance as you will be working on the muscles endurance on how long it will be
able to last whilst static. For example when you stop halfway through a press up or if you are
doing a plank, these are good examples as you have to stay in an isolated position. Also another
example of this would be dorsal raises in a static position, when you hold your head up and your
legs up when you are laid on your front. This type of muscle work is easy to undertake but it can
cause sharp increases in blood pressure as the blood flow is increased and it is also rapidly leads to
fatigue.
Concentric:

at a constant speed so therefore you would need it at a suitable weight to do these contractions
correctly. If you had it at a high weight you would get worn out and start struggling at the end of
the set of repetitions. An everyday example of isokinetic example would be doing your teeth as
you would be doing it at the same pace and contractions and shortenings would take

13. Literary Analysis Of Out-Out, By Robert Frost
The poem, Out Out , by Robert Frost, is a rather peculiar poem that primarily may be tricky to
understand. Nonetheless, it is intriguing and full of key examples of complex poetic terms,
vocabulary, and structure. A key part of any literary work, the purpose, can be drawn from Out Out
, that being to show that deathcalls to many people at any given time, and that no one dwells on
the death of people or cares about others at all, and should. The first part of the purpose of the
poem Out Out is to show that death calls to many people at any time. Evidence for this can be
easily located on lines 1, 7, and 8 of the poem, where it says, The buzz sawsnarled and rattled in
the yard... the saw snarled and rattled snarled and rattled As it ran light, or had to bear a load.
(Frost 1, 7, and 8). This bit from the poem shows a repetition pattern that the buzz saw is being
worked hard and is under stress, and rattling is a sign that something isn t working right in any
tool. This could allude or lead up to a deadly accident, key word being dead(death), showing that
the saw could be an allusionto a death, or the calling of death. More evidence can be seen on lines
15 20, and 31 32 where it says, ... To tell them Supper. At the word, the saw As if it meant to
prove saws knew what supper meant, Leaped out at the boy s hand, or seemed to leap He must
have given the hand... Neither refused the meeting... Half in appeal, But half as if to keep the life

14. Results And Discussion On Weight Loss
3 Results And Discussion 3.1 Wear Test Figure 4 shows the results of loss in weight for the
samples as a function with the applied load. It has been found that the wear behavior of
unreinforced alloy is higher compared with the composites. This behavior back to the hard
ceramic material protects the surface from the severe contact [30 32]. The results given in
figure 5 show that the weight loss decreases as the percentage of the nano SiC particles increases
from 0.5% to 4.5%. This could be occurred because the ceramic material on the composite
surface protects the matrix from severe contact. Figure 4 reveals also, that when the applied
load increases, the wear rate of all investigated samples increases. Conditions of the severe wear
were clearly seen from the rate of weight loss. The recognized pattern is steady with that
perceived by Alpas and Zhang [33] they propose the wear rate increment bit by bit with the
connected load in the gentle wear area. Then again, at a discriminating load that relies upon
sliding speed, the wear rate suddenly increments reflect the condition termed serious wear. From
figure 6 we can see that the composites weight loss is less than that of matrix alloy. The obtained
weight loss results show that no single, unique wear mechanism operates over the wide range of
the used weight (0 4.5%). Rather, there are several mechanisms while the change in their relative
importance as both the weight % of nano ceramic particles was varied and the

15. How Companies Are Managing The Foreign Exchange Risk...
1.Executive Summary
This paper discusses how companies are managing the foreign exchange risk through the use
currency options. For instance, some companies who didn t not take risk management seriously
had resulted in inefficient use of capital, increased liabilities, and reputation risk. Moreover, a
lack of certainty can cause confusion as to what a company s acceptance of risk is, such as a level
of acceptance. Without risk management, a company can become overconfident in its methods,
which could lead to a financial crisis. The failure to objectively take risks leads to bad results like a
company taking inappropriate risks not in the best long term interests of the firm. Furthermore,
poor risk management in finance could amount to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to minimise the effect of the potential losses due to foreign currency exchange rate, it
essential to understand the use of financial instrument.
Foreign exchange risk consists of three main types of exposures. First, transaction exposure is
when a firm has a contractual obligation under which it supposed to receive or pay a certain
amount in a currency that is different than its home currency. Transaction exposure has an effect of
the firm s income statement because the accounts payables or receivables can be affected by
currency exchange rates. Second foreign exchange exposure is the translation which impacts the
balance sheet of the firm. It occurs when consolidating financial statements of foreign units into a
company s home currency. The third type of foreign exchange exposure is the economic which
influences a firm s cash flows when exchange rates change. This type of exposure can impact
assets, liabilities, or any type of anticipated foreign currency cash exchange.
The starting point of any foreign exchange risk management plan is to identify the exchange
exposure faced. In controlling the foreign exchange risk, currency options have attained acceptance
as very helpful tools due to their exclusive nature. They are very critical and convey a much wider
range of hedging alternatives. Call options provide the right to the buyer to purchase the

18. The Importance Of The National Anthem
The decision, made by Colin Kaepernick and a handful of other NFL players, to kneel or sit down
during the playing of the American Nation Anthem is an immature and disrespectful gesture to this
country and to our flag. There are better more respectful ways to protest and put out word about
your cause. While it is our first amendment right to not stand up for the National Anthem, it is my
opinion that kneeling for the flag shows disrespect for this country, our armed forces, and the flag
itself.
The flag has a section of code in the U.S. law books called the flag code. This was adopted on
June 14, 1923, by the National Flag Conference which Navy and Army representatives attended.
Title 4 chapter 1 section 9 states, All other persons present should face the flag and stand at
attention with their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their
right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. While there are no legal
repercussions to violating these codes, it shows a great disrespect to the flag and to the country.
This section of code also states that citizens of other countries should stand in attention to show
respect for the nation.
A great example of a foreign athlete showing respect to the United States National Anthem would
be Usain Bolt. During a trackside interview that was being conducted with Mr. Bolt, the U.S.

19. Compare And Contrast Edwards Vs Aguillard
In the late nineteen eighties, Edwards v. Aguillard argued that a Louisiana law was against the First
Amendment of the Constitution. This law prohibited public schools from teaching about evolution
and the evolutionary processes unless the topic was taught alongside religious based creation
theories. More specifically, this law imposed on public schools was argued to have broken the
Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. This clause simply says that absolutely no law can
establish or support a religion ( Establishment Clause , 2011). Many people challenged the state s
law including local parents and teachers as well as men and women with religious affiliations.
Ultimately, the Supreme Court found that the state s act was unlawful according to the
Establishment Clause of the First Amendment due to the fact that there was no non religious basis
to the act. The creation theories are entirely based around the idea that an all powerful god created
the human race. Therefore the state is promoting this religious teaching. Although it was argued
that the act was to give students more opportunities to learn, the point was made that the teachers
lost the power to make decisions in his or her own classroom. Furthermore, the law inhibits the
learning of children by banning the teaching of evolution unless creation is also taught in the
classroom. The law... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It is hard for a person to stay quiet when everyone knows your name, for Marilyn Monroe this

and talent was already recognized, life kicked in like a rocket for Monroe from the moment she
was born. Doors of opportunity were constantly being opened for her. Singing Happy Birthday for

(Jackson, Denny). Marilyn Monroe s career may seem as if she made it all by herself; instead, she

The iconic sex symbol of the 50 s has history unlike any other Hollywood superstar. Marilyn
Monroe was born into an unstable family, and soon later given up for adoption. However, two

Everyone looks at the Holocaust as just a time in history to be remembered. That was exactly my
perspective, until actually looking into this topic. After reading these many articles, ID cards, and
oral histories, my view was instantly switched; almost too much. As most people don t like to think
about the past and bad things that have happened, I think everyone needs to take a few minutes just
to understand the holocaust. The people of the Jewish community during this time had it hard.
They were attacked for no reason and were treated like dirt when they are the same as anyone else.
Imagine being abused just for your ethnicity, or anything else you don t have control over. Nazi

22. The Endogenous Growth Theory Developed A Little Over Two...
The endogenous growth theory developed a little over two decades ago puts technological
innovation at the vanguard of explanations of differences in living standards across economies
and time. This calls attention to features such as imperfect competition, economies of scale,
creative destruction, and produce widespread policy implications. Using empirical analyses and
literature gathered from various resources, I aim to try and address the problem of scale effects
on growth. As it is the most visible result of increasing returns, tests of the theory tend to focus on
the scale effect prediction of the models proposed by Romer (1990), Grossman and Helpman
(1991), and Aghion and Howitt (1992) (R GH AH). A scale effect in per capita

New ideas, И¦, are also produced using labour and the existing stock of knowledge: И¦/A =
ОґLA(2) In the R GH AH model, each unit of research effort can produce a proportionate increase
in the stock of knowledge. Finally, to close this simple model, we assume that a constant fraction s
of the total labour force L works in research, so that LA = sL and LY = (1 в€’ s) L, with 0 s 1. With
these assumptions, it is easy to see that the growth rate of output per worker, defined as gy, is
given by: gy = бєЋ/Y Д№/L = ОґsL (3) Permanent transformations in research intensity, s, in turn
follow enduring changes in growth in this model. However, the growth effect of scale is also
apparent: with exponential population growth, the growth rate of per capita income in this simple
model is itself growing exponentially. Amongst many who criticized the issue, the most noticeable
critique was presented by Charles Jones (1995b) himself. He pointed out that this prediction
originates from the assumption that the productivity growth rate is proportional to the specialist
labour engaged in R D. He also documented that the assumption was inconsistent with the time
series data on R D

2.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents the literature review which explains theme park features and introduce the
concept and dimension of service quality. This literature review research also shows some research
on the theme park products, and also determinants of service quality towards visitors intention to
revisit. These ideas were highlighted by Kotler (1994) and also Swarbrooke (1995).

Theme park can be defined as a place that provides facilities and landscape based on a particular
theme which offers other services, such as food, drinks, merchandising and often accommodation
that are usually connected to the theme (Daneshku, 1995).

Pros and Cons of Having a Professional Code of Ethics
Introduction
A professional code of ethics acts as a guide concerning ethical conduct in a given profession.
However, over time, it has been termed as an impediment to intellectual and moral developments.
This way or another, there are advantages as well as disadvantages that emanate from applying the
professional code of ethics depending on the context of practices. For this reason, this paper
discusses both sides: positive and negative effects of adopting professional standards. For the
purpose of this assignment, it is important to mention that a professional code of ethics comprises
of pros and cons that need serious intervention. Professionally, organizations tend to implement
ethical practices that guide workers through legal frameworks, which violate the very definition of
ethics. In line with this argument, it is clear that specific principles that cultivate human behavior
have their weaknesses leading to the debate on whether or not codes of ethics are appropriate for
organizational development. In extension, an attempt to codify standards through substantial
agreement contradicts the principles of ethics, which define individuals as self directed and moral
agents. In fact, attaching the code of ethics to the workplace reflects intellectual confusion about the
roles of the predetermined standards. However, its weaknesses do not imply that the professional
code of ethics is irrelevant to organizations, so it

Owens and The Ohio State University
Owens achievements on the track in high school were so phenomenal that he caught the attention
of several Big Ten universities, including The Ohio State University and the University of
Michigan. It came down to which school had the best offer, and in the end, OSU s proposal that
Owens could work part time as a freight elevator operator at the State House while training and
going to classes was the winning one. After passing a series of exams that summer to qualify him
to enter college (he was a few credits shy of graduating from high school), Owens started classes at
OSU in the fall of 1933.
At the time of Owens matriculation, The Ohio State University had only one men s dorm, and
Owens was barred from it because of his race. He instead shared a boarding house with several other
African American students on East 11th Avenue, where they cooked their own meals and
sometimes ate in the student union. No restaurant along High Street would serve them, nor were
they allowed to go to most movie theaters. Owens, though, made the best of the situation, focusing

Abstract
Poliomyelitis (polio) is an infectious disease caused by the polio virus and is spread from person to
person through faecal oral transmission which means; stool entering the mouth or consumption of
food containing stool from an infection person. The poliovirus resides in the intestinal tract and
mucus in the nose and throat. Contact with infected respiratory secretions or even saliva can cause
poliovirus transmission. This mode of transmission is known as oral oral transmission. Polio
became prevalent in the United States of America (U.S) in the 1940s and 1950s.this was followed
by outbreaks of the disease that crippled tens of thousands in North America. Polio eradication is
aimed at reducing the global incidence of polio to zero through deliberate efforts to a point that it
requires no further control. Polio eradication is to be achieved through interruption of endemic
transmission of poliovirus through vaccination. This saw the wide use of the inactivated polio virus
(IPV) that was administered orally (OPV); oral polio vaccine. Polio free U.S Polio eradication is
defined as the reduction to zero of global incidence of poliomyelitis through deliberate efforts to a
point that it requires no further control measures. High rates of vaccination are at the center of

warning that America s industrial economy had been taken over by a handful of corporate giants

32. Political Regimes And Degree Of Pluralism
Introduction
The decolonization process after the Second World War brought a new hope for a more democratic
world. In Africa, however, the process did not provide the results expected by the West as most of
the African states turned rapidly into various forms of authoritarian regimes with only a few
adopting more democratic rule. Reasons for that are manifold. Authoritarianism, in the African
context, is defined by a lack of state and ruling elites capacity to transform [...] power into
effective political, economic, and cultural policies thus undermining the presence of an
overarching authority and being often, but not always, repressive (Fatton Jr, 1988, p. 255). The
differences in political regimes and degree of pluralism can be analysed during the transition
period in early post independence years, determined by ways in which leaders centralized power
differently across Africa (Bratton Van der Walle, 1994, p. 468). While some argue that colonial
legacies have laid the ground for the prevalence of authoritarianism after independence, others
would see this explanation as reductionist and simplistic, failing to consider other historical, social
and cultural aspects. This essay will review some of the structural limitations that emerged in the
colonial period and were reinforced by other factors such as the international environment and
informal politics, upholding authoritarian practices and corruption across almost all of the Sub
Saharan Africa (SSA). First, I will

Olive oil both had an experimental density of 0.92and theoretical density of 0.92
(Hypertextbook.com, 2017). As a result, olive oil had an exceptionally accurate percentage error
of 0%, and means that the experimental and theoretical density precisely represent each other.
Therefore, this data is highly valid (0 5%) and can be used to draw accurate and reliable
conclusions from. Due to the lack of percentage error, there is no random or systematic errors
present. Although this data may in fact be inaccurate as there is a wide range of different brands
and versions of olive oil, and both the experimental and theoretical data weren t based on the exact
bottle of olive oil. Both density experiments could have been completed at different climates
/temperatures at the time of data collection. Additionally, the data was rounded at many points
throughout the experiment to obey the rules of significant figures, losing the accuracy of the data.
Ethanol (rubbing alcohol), obtained an experimental density of 0.76 and a theoretical density of
0.78 (Ausetute.com.au, 2017). Subsequently, ethanol received a small percentage error of 2.6%
because, even though the difference in density was 0.02, in ratio it is larger due to the small
density. This data is highly valid as it is between 0 5% percentage error, meaning it can be used to
draw very close to accurate and reliable conclusions from. The percentage error (2.6%) is smaller
than the percent uncertainty (7.9%) and therefore means that the error was due to a random error.
Random errors result from uncontrollable elements/variables unavoidable in the experiment, which
in this case would be the limitations of the measuring apparatus. It can never be fully eliminated but
can be reduced by an increased number of trials. However, the experimental and theoretical densities
may have been accomplished at different temperatures and the densities

Greeks and Trojans
The Iliad is a book full of poems that talk about the history of Trojans and Greeks. Within the
Iliad, there is a strong urge to show a world in which was are tremendous and the gods have
direct hand in human events and these deities influence fate. The two leading gods, Achillies and
Aeneas, the reader can see the ways in which these two cultural problems entwine and try to
create an image of the ancient world which is at once barbarously real in terms of the depiction of
not just the glory, but also the horrors of war which are filled with supernatural and mystical
figures called the gods.
Each of the main characters are selected by the gods in some ways but however gained favor not
only because of who they are and of their birth but also are fated to prove themselves as a true
warrior and to fulfill certain expectations to prove to see if they are worthy or not.
The gods in the Iliad are manifested not just to have a direct hand in the lives of mortals, but
moreover to be picky about whom they would like to help. Greek religion held powers and fears
of all kinds so therefore the reasons behind their motivation and resolutions is not like the
modern Christian notion where they think that whoever deserves to have the honor will be it.

Clegg s reactions such as blushing when he is asked by Miranda if he wants to kiss her or if he

To touch Miranda would ruin his imaginary persona of her, he contents himself in taking

photos, Clegg states, It was my chance I had been waiting for. I got the old camera and took
some photos, I would have taken more only she started to move a bit, so I had to pack up and

therefore putting the viewer in the eyes of a male. This is similar to what is happening when

Abstract:
As a result of technological advancements, modern businesses seek new and improved methods of
conducting their business processes. Systems have been designed to augment and manage core
business functions such as production, accounting, procurement, and human resources. However,
even with these systems in place, information is unreliable and inconsistent if they are on disparate
platforms. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software tackles this problem by integrating
business processes into a centralized system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the information that was used to compose this paper was taken from prior ERP articles,
online reference tools, and ERP books.
What is an ERP System?
An ERP system integrates an organization s data and services in a single system. ERP systems
combine computer hardware and software during the process of integration. One thing most ERP
systems have in common is the use of a single database that is used to store information for
different system components. To obtain an ERP status, a given software package must successfully
function as at least two systems. For example, a software package can hypothetically be considered
an ERP system if it can execute human resources and financial functions.
Even though this will accomplish the function of an ERP system, ERP applications typically
support much larger business platforms (Wikipedia, 2007).
ERP, in its entirety, provides a single database that stores all the data for its individual modules.
Some of the modules an ERP system supports include, but is not limited to:
Manufacturing
Supply Chain Management
Financials
Projects
Human Resources
Customer Relationship Management
Data Warehouse

fighting for land, one recurring problem was brought along with us, the issue of Slavery. From the
Constitutional Convention in 1786, to the Antebellum Period of the mid 1800 s, Slavery was an

40. Characteristics of Managers and Leaders
Characteristics of Managers and Leaders:
The concepts of leadership and management are viewed differently by different people though
managers and leaders are important in management. Some people view these terms as synonyms
and use them interchangeably in sentences and phrases while others consider them to be extreme
opposites. Actually, people who consider the terms as quite different argue that it s nearly
impossible to be a good leader and a good manager at the same time. Nonetheless, there are some
who stay in the middle ground since they believe that individuals can successfully navigate in both
with the right knowledge. Notably, today s organizations, groups, and teams require both effective
managers and effective leaders to function efficiently. As important people for effective functioning
of organizations, managers and leaders have similar and differing characteristics.
Leadership vs. Management: Leadership is a process with which a person influences a group of
people towards the accomplishment of a common goal. While there are various descriptions for
leadership, some of its central components include being a process, involving influence, functions
in the context of a group, and incorporates the achievement of a common goal (Ricketts, 2009).
However, the components play a minimal role in the utilized description or theory despite of how
leadership is operationalized. Since leadership involves the establishment of a new direction or

41. Neil Shubin s Your Inner Fish Essay
ReviewWith a writing style that is enabled by an obvious adoration of the subject, Neil Shubin
explores the predecessors of the human species in his book Your Inner Fish. Shubin draws upon his
unique background as a paleontologist, embryologist, and geneticist to trace defining phenotypical
traits that are inherent to humans to even the simplest of organisms. He delves into the difficult
details of evolutionthat have long remained mysteries until recent years, specifically analyzing the
transition from water to land, the rise of vision, basic body plans and scent. The magic of the book
is that although these discoveries required the brightest minds of the past two centuries, Shubin
unwraps them in a delightful manner that is interesting to both high school student and university
professor. Your Inner Fish is meant to be persuasive, to educate and formulate opinions. By tracking
these seeming complexities of humandevelopment, Shubin attempts to persuade a broad audience
in the veracity of the common ancestor. Although the premise of the book is based on evolution,
Shubin s purpose in writing the book cannot be defined by such broad terms. He is not interested in

42. A Study Of Personality Between Samsung, Samsung And Motorola
Against: ========= The inner characteristics, unique to individuals define their personality it
reflects the individual differences. Some individuals are very social, some are timid, some
adventurous and some methodical. While one s personality is often interpreted by those we
interact with, the person has their own vision of their personality this influences their buying
behaviour. Thus, a study of personality is very important for marketers, as it can help them
differentiate and segment consumers into separate groups on the basis of their personality
traits. Consumers associate they choices with their personality, physical activities, associations
with others and their interests. Thus their buying behaviour is mapped to their choices with
their psycographic measures (how they live, work and play). Personality of the buyer defines
the items that are more likely to be valued. Consumers are willing to pay a premium for items
that reflect their personality. Motorola did a spectacular job with the mobile Moto X . It is
Motorola s flagship phone, priced appropriately for a flagship device. Compare this to other
flagship devices from Samsung, Nokia, HTC or even LG, all these phones are competing on
higher specs of their flagship devices. But Motorola, with its Moto X did not play the specs game

In these transactions the consumer is no longer an individual but now are a committee in an

What s the best way to lower the homicide rate? By stopping homicides before they happen? At

major birth defects in children of moms that use it. Many did not survive, but three were saved.
They had an unwanted gift though. They could successfully predict future homicides by visions
they receive. These children, called precognitives or precogs, help the department of precrime to
completely stop murders in Washington D.C. for 6 years. The system was thought to be perfect,

46. Essay On Bacteriophage Therapy
According to CDC and EMA statistic the annual death toll due to multi drug resistant bacterial

healthcare. The United States is being propelled into an era of medicine where the effectiveness of
antibiotics is rapidly declining. In the United States, methicillin resistant S.aureus (MRSA)

Common names that are associated with the first investigation into the phenomenon of phages
are Frederick Twort, a medically trained bacteriologist from England, and Felix d Herelle, a
French Canadian microbiologist. The history of phage discovery and research is so complicated
that the scientific world has simply accepted referring to the discovery as the Twort d Herelle
phenomenon. Twort was the first to notice and describe the characteristics of lysis associated with
phage infection in 1915. However, Abedon states that it was d Herelle who identified the source of
this phenomenon and coined the term bacteriophage . D Herelle was also the first to use phages
therapeutically and successfully (2). Due to the limitations of the time, and the poor delivery of
phages where intended, most of d Herelle s work was scrutinized throughout the scientific
community.
Treatments throughout the world had mixed success from the very beginning. In one trial of phage
therapy in India, 1931, d Herelle observed a 90% reduction in mortality with 74 lethal outcomes in
the control group and only 5 in the experimental group. However, because of the lack of reliability

by most of western medicine, especially after the introduction of pharmaceutical antibiotics in the

Proud of living and working in Jozi
We all want to live in cities of which we can be proud. We all want smooth operating public
services, less traffic, new roads, attractive and functional buildings, secure public spaces and wealth
opportunities that can change lives for the better.
So why then do we expect local government and municipalities to do it alone?
Isn t it true that in the 128 year history of Johannesburg, the City reached more milestones than any
other city in the country, even more so than some of the bigger cities globally?
Isn t it true that most of the City s achievements were actioned by government and citizens alike,
working together towards a common goal?
And yet, we still demand and expect service delivery perfection every single day, notwithstanding
how difficult it must be to handle the logistics and mechanics of delivering services to a population
of over 8 million people.
Granted, we all pay taxes so the City can perform these functions, and sometimes it feels as if our
money is being wasted. But surely there is far more to it, like personal reputation, character and
pride?

48. Conflict Theory And Symbolic Interactionism
Sociology is the function of the human society, and social problems among us. There are three
different theories that I will be discussing in this essay. The theories are symbolic interactionism,
The conflict theory and functional analysis perspectives. These perspectives help make up the way
society thinks as a whole. All three of these perspectives are alike, as much as they are different.
Symbolic interactionism helps explain both of our individual personalities and the ways the human
society is linked together (p.27). It also helps us differentiate social order and change through a
process. The teachings of symbolic interactionism comes mostly from George Herbert Mead
But,George was not the only one that influenced the thoughts and ideas of symbolic interactionism.
Symbolic interaction is theoretical perspective so it is still changing and evolving. It also has four
kinds of understandings in the population and environment. One of the understandings is that
symbolic interactionism is to understand why people engage or do not engage in social growth of
the population . Symbolic Interactionism assumes that people from different social backgrounds,
and different cultures may see different social issues within their social community. George
Mead,Charles Cooley and Herbert Blumer shaped symbolic interactionism on the predictions of
yourself causing you to behave a certain way so it becomes true. Structural functionalism is a

immigrants who either had harsh feelings toward Great Britain or felt uneasy about fighting
against family members in Germany. These demographics would be swayed by society to reform

These sentiments could be seen across the country, and in worse cases citizens acted upon these
notions. As Farwell recalled, Those bearing German names were often molested, and in places

These views were commonly rooted in the belief that the German immigrants were spies, which
was a nearly identical assumption the Young Turks made against their Armenian demographic.
Nevertheless, these beliefs would dominate the American public throughout the war, and one
cannot help but to theorize that the excessive propaganda and government intervention caused
some of these biases to formulate in a small town like Tulsa. As it would be difficult not to want
to defend one s country if the enemy being presented is of a barbaric gorilla rapaciously clutching

and soured. No person of German heritage was thought. Even the renowned brewmaster Adolphus

Clubbing is seen and experienced in different parts of the world and music is always a part of this

this paper argues that there is a communicative value attached to musicking and experiencing music
in clubs, entangled with the social value attached to clubbing and music production and

the quotidian understanding of music production and consumption. Musicking in nightclubs also

What is free trade? Free trade is the international trade left to its natural course without tariffs,
quotas or any other restrictions. The first time arguments came around about if free trade was

a ton of opium per day over from India. The people of China grew more and more aggrieved at
the damage it was doing to their people and societies, to prevent this the Chinese tried to close

ways depending on many factors. There are many advantages for many people and countries

music in the coming centuries. His works helped to transform not only church music of the Catholic
Church, but also secular music as well. Giovanni Gabrieli wrote significant works that ultimately

This led to several rebellions, which were silenced for a short time until they could not be repressed
anymore. Finally, in 16th century, Martin Luther and other reformers challenged Roman Catholic
authority and their corruption of the church, which is now known as the Protestant Reformation.
The revolts happened in many different countries the western world, however, they all had
fundamental ideas in common. Two changes they called for were the end of the church s hierarchy,
and the emphasis of everyone being able to access and individually learn the original Biblical
scriptures in their vernacular language (Taruskin, pg. 207 208). Even though the focus of this
revolution was not about music, the ideals ended up influencing church music. Many composers,
including Martin Luther, endeavored to make music more accessible by translating it into the
common, everyday language, shifting the singing in church services to the congregation rather than
just having the choir sing, and making music simpler for everyone to grasp. Luther wrote music in
the form of chorales and strophic union hymns that were taken from Gregorian chant (Taruskin, pg.
206 210). In response to the Protestant Reformation, the Counter Reformation emerged out of the
Catholic Church. Music took on a more inspirational quality, and its primary goal was to affect the
listener. Polychoral music was very popular, in addition to the concerted style (Taruskin, pg.

53. Understanding The Terminology Of The Lgbt Community
Definition Understanding the terminology of the LGBT community is often complicated. LGBT,
which was once known as the gay community, is an acronym that describes different gender
expression or identities. The acronym was created to be more inclusive and have more diverse
groups. It allowed individuals of the LGBTcommunity to fully express themselves in different
ways. The first word of the acronym is lesbian. The word lesbian is defined as an individual who
identifies as a women and who are physically and emotionally attracted to other women (Huegel,
2011). People who identify themselves as lesbian may also choose an alternative word to identify
themselves as, gay. The term gay is often used to describe both homosexual men and women
however in reference to men, gay describes men who are physically and emotionally attracted to
other men (Huegel, 2011). Men more often use the term gay when identifying themselves than
women. According to Huegel (2011), bisexual is defined as people who are emotionally and
physically attracted to people of either sex (p.9). When an individual identifies as bisexual it can
often cause complications within and outside of the LGBT community. They are often told, they
are confused about who they are, or they just cannot make up their minds, however bisexuality has
been scientifically proven as a valid identity (Huegel, 2011). The last word in the acronym is

The reasons to challenge these books are varied. The most common reason to challenge or ban a

In a democracy, one is promised the freedom of speech, and any censorship of speech or
literature goes against that. Even as school boards and parents take to the court to ban books
from school libraries, in most cases, books and materials are not allowed to be censored.
However, it has been noted that there are books that might be too dangerous to be in print. One
such example of this that has been highly controversial through the years is the book, The
Anarchist Cookbook that was published in 1971 by William Powell in response to the Vietnam
war. In the book, Powell details instructions to manufacture explosives, illegal drugs and more
sinister objects. The purpose of the book is obviously to harm people and disrupt society. The
book was published freely until 1991, and then most recently again published in 2012, and it has
been documented to be the source for many different attacks. In 1976, the book was supposed to
have inspired Croatian Nationalists to hijack a plane and plant explosive devices at Grand

Since the beginning of its existence as a country, Italy has faced enormous challenges in
establishing itself as a unified political and social entity. The geographic, economic, and linguistic
differences between its various regions and the artificial manner in which they were amalgamated
created a legacy of internal divisions that continues to dominate the country s political climate to
this day. Italy s numerous historical fiascoes, such as its disastrous involvement in the two World

Originally applied to the government of Agostino Depretis in the 1880s, transformismo quickly
became equated with any ethically questionable, self interested actions taken by public officials
purely for the sake of staying in office and maintaining power. This often manifested itself in the
creation of a smoke screen of reformatory rhetoric intended to satisfy the electorate, without a
subsequent introduction of any real reforms. The colonialist manner in which Piedmont annexed
the other regions to create a united Italy during the Risorgimento and the divisions inherent in the
new kingdom resulted in a historical compromise that made any deliberate social change very
difficult. Consequently, Italianleaders of the destra storica and sinistra storica (the first two eras of
Italian political history) shifted their focus from meaningful governance to the practice of
transformismo, permanently shaping the face of Italian political life. The prevailing motto of this
practice was captured perfectly in a line from Luchino Visconti s 1963 film, The Leopard: Things
must change in order to stay the same.
Attendismo, the other type of quasi action, was a tendency of the leftist Italian parties to passively
