The True Meaning Of Justice In Plato s The Republic
Philosophers for centuries have deliberated the true meaning of justice and what it means to be a just
human. Is it a social contract made by men? Or is it a virtue possessed by certain people within their
souls? Plato in his book The Republic gives us his view of how justice is a human virtue and extension
of ones soul.
Socrates envisioned a city later called the city of pigs . His idea of an ideal utopia was people living in
constraint of their basic needs. People would lead simple lives and perform tasks they were naturally
good at. This way the whole city would be interdependent on each other, everyone working to their
own and contributing to the economy. Farmers, builders, traders were necessary as their skills would
help people gain the basic needs of life such as food, shelter and clothing. Each person performing one
job would make them specialized in their trade, ensuring production remains at the highest efficiency.
(Plato, the republic, 369 373) Socrates says, And if so, we must infer that all things are produced more
plentifully and easily and of a better quality when one man does one thing which is natural to him and
does it at the right time, and leaves other things. said Socrates. (Plato, the republic, 222)
Socrates does talk about three different classes that include the proletariats, the craftsmen and the
traders who would reside in the city. He believed in absolute simplicity and thought that since
everyone worked towards a common goal, the city would

By this point we are 60 to 70 years old and ready to retire in some level of comfort and dignity,
without having to work anymore retirement and our declining years, they say. That lasts another dozen
years, give or take a decade. The level of comfort and dignity one enjoys during those final years is
measured mostly by the wealth we have managed to accumulate during the 3 or 4 decades we toiled at
those chosen professions we spent so many years preparing for. For most of us, that wealth consists
mainly in something modern society calls a pension. Because most of us lack the discipline,
sophistication, or skills needed to set aside and invest money during our working years, the task of
accumulating pension funds is left mainly up to our employers, who in turn hire highly specialized
teams of people to administer those pension funds. Some of them do that extremely well; others not so
much. Because not all employers offered pensions, in 1935 Congress passed legislation authorizing
the federal government to tax workers and their employers, in exchange for guaranteeing a basic
pension. That legislation was the Social Security Act. Social Security was never intended to replace
employer provided pensions, or to discourage workers from accumulating their own retirement funds.
Rather, the intent was that Social Security would provide a guaranteed base upon which workers and
their employers could build. Employer provided pensions are not

Gaddaf Research Paper
An ideology is any set of fixed, predictable ideas held by politicians and citizens on how to serve the
public good . Muammar al Gaddafi s ideology as a revolutionary , meaning he was involve[ed in] or
support[ed] a political revolution ; as a Bedouin , who are Arabic nomads and believe that society
depends on its people to support it ; and as an Arab nationalist, meaning pride in Arab achievements
and desire for unity among Arab nations , worked together to form his belief system. Muammar al
Gaddafi was hindered by his ideology in successfully preventing and ending uprisings in Libya?
First, Gaddafi was deluded by his beliefs as a revolutionary, in that he thought that his people would
not rise against him . Even during the Libyan revolts in 2011, Gaddafi said in an interview that, They
love me. All my people [are] with me. They love me all. They would die to protect me . His views
made it difficult for him to believe that the Libyan people would revolt because that notion completely
contradicts his view that he was harmonious with Libya itself. Even while he was in the middle of
dealing with uprisings, he put the blame on outside influences, like the West or Al Qaeda drugging
Libyan people. He may have known the reality of the revolts but chose to ignore ... Show more

His ideology clouded his judgment and he stayed in denial, which precluded him from predicting the
uprisings and taking measures to prevent them from happening. Even as he was aware that the
uprisings in Egypt may spread to Libya, he stubbornly condemned those uprisings while well aware
that some Libyan people were in solidarity with those in Egypt. Therefore, Muammar al Gaddafi was

Short Story On The Roof Woof
Woof, woof! is a simple expression of feeling that makes my day better. You most likely already have
in mind that the expression you just heard was a dog. But, have you thought about letting them inside?
Dogs every day pass on to a better life than what we gave them. At least that s what I believe in. I
believe in an afterlife for all. Humans and animals all deserve a better life. But when you think about
it, dogs have feelings and can feel pain too. Leaving dogs outside this season is wrong, and you need
to do something about it.
Let them at least go outside and do their business, but take them inside and wrap them up in a blanket
of some kind afterwards. This will warm them up and melt any ice that may have stuck to their paws
or body. Also, don t give them cold water. Warm it up in a microwave or in a tea ... Show more content

He has an extra claw on the back of his paws to assist him in climbing the Alps. He s also a guardian

Back to the moral of the story, don t leave your dogs in the cold, wet snow! They definitely don t like
it, and when they get frostbit, it s basically the end of the story. Dogs greatly deserve respect from us,
and don t deserve to be betrayed outside to freeze to death, while we are inside in the heat and eating

Text Analytics And Natural Language Processing
IV. SENTIMENT ANALYSIS A. The Sentiment analysis process i) Collection of data ii) Preparation
of the text iii) Detecting the sentiments iv) Classifying the sentiment v) Output i) Collection of data:
the first step in sentiment analysis involves collection of data from user. These data are disorganized,
expressed in different ways by using different vocabularies, slangs, context of writing etc. Manual
analysis is almost impossible. Therefore, text analytics and natural language processing are used to
extract and classify[11]. ii) Preparation of the text : This step involves cleaning of the extracted data
before analyzing it. Here non textual and irrelevant content for the analysis are identified and
discarded iii) Detecting the sentiments: All the extracted sentences of the views and opinions are
studied. From this sentences with subjective expressions which involves opinions, beliefs and view are
retained back whereas sentences with objective communication i.e facts, factual information are
discarded iv) Classifying the sentiment: Here, subjective sentences are classified as positive, negative,
or good, bad or like, dislike[1] v) Output: The main objective of sentiment analysis is to convert
unstructured text into meaningful data. When the analysis is finished, the text results are displayed on
graphs in the form of pie chart, bar chart and line graphs. Also time can be analyzed and can be
graphically displayed constructing a sentiment time line with the chosen

Critical Analysis Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find By...
Flannery O Connor was often shocked to find how people interpreted her stories. Some readers of A
Good Man is Hard to Find believed the grandmother was evil, even a witch. Soon O Connor set out,
quite explicitly, in letters and lectures to detail the theology of the story and the importance of the
grandmother as an agent of grace. In a letter to John Hawkes, she explained how violence and grace
come together: More than in the Devil I am interested in the indication of Grace, the moment when
you know that Grace has been offered and accepted such as the moment when the Grandmother
realizes the Misfit is one of her own children. These moments are prepared for (by me anyway) by the
intensity of the evil circumstances. When O Connor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally O Connor chalked up all the misreadings and confusion to the spiritual shortcomings of the
modern reader: Today s audience is one in which religious feeling has become, if not atrophied, at
least vaporous and sentimental. But the discrepancies between how O Connor is often read and how
she claimed she should be read cannot simply be explained by her theology of grace or by the lack of
religious feeling among readers. Critical opinion over the years has tended to line up behind O Connor
s own explanations; however, O Connor s analysis of A Good Man Is Hard to Find still seems baffling
and occasionally a critic has questioned the theology of the fiction. Andre Bleikasten, focusing on O
Connor s novels, claimed that the truth of O Connor s work is the truth of her art, not that of her
church. Her fiction does refer to an implicit theology, but if we rely, as we should, on its testimony
rather than on the author s comments, we shall have to admit that the Catholic orthodoxy of her work
is at least debatable And Frederick Asals recalls D. H. Lawrence s advice that a reader should trust the
tale and not the teller. Of A Good Man Is Hard to Find, Asals claims: BLOCK QUOTE One can easily
pass over her [O Connor s] hope that the grandmother s final gesture to The Misfit

Sugar sweetened beverages have high caloric values and low nutritional value. The positive
association between SSB consumption and cases of increased weights and risks for diabetes has
certainly drawn public attention. Other medical problems that are correlated include metabolic
syndrome, hypocalcemia, kidney stones, increased blood pressure, hypertension, and coronary heart
disease (DeSantis). According to a study commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO),
20% of weight gain over thirty years in the US was caused by SSB consumption in children and
adults. An additional serving of one SSB per day is equated to an additional 0.06 unit increase in body
mass index per year and one half pound of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the penny per ounce tax were to be implemented nationwide, over ten years, there would be an
estimated savings of $9.6 billion for diabetes related costs and $7.4 billion for cardiovascular disease
related costs (Wang). Moreover, the reduction in numbers of strokes and premature deaths linked to
the consumption of SSBs further savings on medical costs. As a result, the nation can reduce wasteful
healthcare spending and focus on funding medical improvements.
Key Players
Though the tax is levied against the distributors of the sugar sweetened beverages, the concept of tax
passing is apparent as prices of taxed beverages is passed on to consumers. Differing from the
common sales tax, an excise tax is levied on producers and... passed on to the consumer via the
product s price tag (Wang). Data collected by the Public Health Instituted displayed that, in Berkeley,
where the excise tax had passed in 2014, store prices of taxed beverages were bumped up. Adjusted
for tax and inflation, prices for tax beverages rose from December 2014 to March 2016 by about
$0.0107 per ounce in large supermarkets and $0.0131 per ounce in small chain supermarkets and gas
stations (Silver). Customers are being forced to pay prices increases than the penny per ounce policy
in order to obtain a single beverage.
On the other hand, smaller businesses experience more difficulty in the face of the SSB tax. According

Abortion a Problem for Teenage Girls
Abortion a problem for teenage girls
The purpose of this essay is to bring awareness to the medical procedure of abortion, which is a very
dangerous procedure that needs to be solved. The target audience is those teenage girls that are
deciding to abort using irrelevant procedures. This problem is an increasing trend that is affecting
younger and younger girls as time passes due to poor sex education involvement in schools, and
family discussions. Sometimes girls have rational reasons of why they decide to abort, like when they
have serious diseases, when their economic situation is not the best, or when they were victims of
sexual abuse. Thus, there have been many cases in which girls just decide to abort for no reason at all

Also, the articles from Olukoya amp; Kaya, relate to the one from Cumberland because they state that
girls should have private advising at schools in order to orient them towards the right track. Even
though, Cumberland goes more into detail about what s one of the ways to solve the problem, like
implementing sex based classes in schools, the article also heads the same approach to promote
counseling to pregnant girls. Cumberland, as well as Olukoya amp; Kaya approach the problem of
abortion based on education programs available, how these programs might help parents understand
the situation of their daughters, and how they can help them make the right decision.
Also, the second solution to undecided abortions is to telling relative girls trust in order to receive
emotional or economic assistance. This solution is really good when the communication within the
family is good, but it s not the best solution to the problem. The reason for this is because sometimes
family members can have emotional conflicts, and they might not take the idea of pregnancy
positively. This can affect the girl s decision because their feelings are dependent on their background;
they can feel shyness, fear, or anger towards the idea of pregnancy. Additionally, girls can end up
killing the baby and themselves because they were not aware of the correct precautions to take when
aborting. On the other hand, sometimes telling a relative can bring many positive effects on the
decision because

The Role Of Sports Coach A Good Leader
An important role of a sports coach is to be a motivator. A motivator is someone who encourages and
creates an incentive for someone, such as a performer, to do well. A motivator may prompt a
performer by emphasising their progress in a positive way such as praising them on a good
performance therefore inspiring them to want to do well again. An example of a motivator would be
Kelly Holmes. Not only has she achieved gold in both the 1400m and the 800m in the 2004 Athens
Olympics but she has set up the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust which engages with more than 3,000
vulnerable young people aged between 16 and 25 and provide them with a stepping stone into

Responsibilities
Management and planning:
A coach has a lot of aspect to manage and plan, from equipment and the facility to transport and
competitions.
Many sport accidents occur as a result of activities taking place in unsafe or inappropriate facilities.
Learning to recognize potentially dangerous situations is therefore an important responsibility for any
coach. Prior to the start of the season the coach should ensure that the facility meets minimum safety
standards and also plan that the facility should be inspected regularly and maintained in safe
condition. A coach should also undertake an accurate equipment inventory at the start of the season to
establish the status of equipment and ensure that the correct amount of protective equipment is
available and that the equipment fits their participants.
A coach should be also able to find appropriate competitions for participants and arrange transport to
and from sports events. Without organising to go to competitions participants wouldn t be put to their
sporting limit and tested to see where they need to improve to succeed. Also without planning to
compete in competitions the performers may become bored as they don t have a

Canada Should Not Re-Open The Constitution
The story of the Canadian Constitution is a long and rocky one. It began in 1864 during the
Charlottetown conference in 1864, lead to the implementation of the British North America Act in
1867, before finally being patriated in Canada in 1982 (Dodek 2013, 21, 28). However, it was
patriated without the signature of Quebec, putting the future of Canada in peril. Future attempts to
open the constitution were messy, and ultimately failures, but there are still some who think Canada
should give one more kick at the can (Dodek 2013, 31). The paper will argue that Canada as a country
should not re open the constitution. The paper will be organized in the following way. First, it will
look at the two historical attempts to open the constitution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While some may say it is necessary to create an elected senate, there are other options to give the
Senate more legitimacy. Just because a body is appointed does not mean it cannot have a measure of
popular support. Take for instance the Supreme Court of Canada, which is an appointed body that is
wildly respected, and the reason they are respected are because they are professionals who perform a
crucial role in society. A better class of senate could be achieved by changing the process to appoint
senators by cutting down on patronage and partisan appointments to give it more legitimacy (Crowley
Et al 2014, 13).
In a similar vein of creating a senate that is not beholden to political parties, and their masters, making
it a more independent body is to continue along the route that Primer Justin Trudeau started in 2014,
by kicking out Liberal Senators from his caucus (Cudmore 2014). By creating independent senators,
and attempting to make them the new normal it would make the senate a true chamber of sober second
thought. These are just two proposals to help the senate, but they provide a wider idea of what is
possible beyond the few suggestions the Harper

Reaction Paper On Hooke s Law
Take a simple idea and take it seriously
Charlie Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway
This quote taken from Charlie Munger, best describes the invention of the retractable pen. The
mechanism behind the retraction and the extension of a pen may appear straightforward but the impact
it has made in people s lives is larger. As a student, I have to use a pen in my everyday work and
without it I cannot get any of my assignments done. In the process of using it, I always wonder how a
simple spring within a pen, plays a major role in the functioning of the pen. This led to my interest in

Influence of Lifestyles, Socioeconomic Status and Disease Management
In present society and in some lifestyles and media outlets, sleeping around is overly glorified to
children and young adults; the influence is the more the person sleeps around, the more popular the
person becomes. Particularly in the African American culture, video s depict rappers, surrounded by
women dressed scantly, influencing more provocative behavior among children and teens; promoting
sexual innuendos. A lower socioeconomic status may produce individuals with lower education, poor
health, and poverty. A person living at a lower socioeconomic status may not be able to obtain decent
employment to acquire health benefits; living in a poverty stricken neighborhood will not contain
accurate or up to date medical resources and services and sexual education will become shelved as a
non important issue within these communities. For HIV/AIDS management the individual must
receive up to date information and education on available HIV/AIDS resources, build a plan
specifically created by his or her physician, obtain equipment, and supplies necessary for treatment,
and assess nutritional information, which is extremely vital in preventing additional illnesses.
Furthermore, the individual may want to build a support team including his or her partner, and family

Our Dependence on Others for Information in The Ignorant...
Having read The Ignorant Schoolmaster, the book informs an individual about the intellectual quests
of Joseph Jacotot, a man who put in great effort to advance his views of intellectual emancipation in
the 18th and 19th centuries. He explains how people are too dependent on others in order to obtain
knowledge which they can do on their own. *Upon reading his argument, I begin to agree with his
view on our education system and how it s dulling the minds of individuals. *
In the first chapter, An Intellectual Adventure, Ranciere believes that most individuals think they
cannot gain knowledge without a master; someone needs to directly teach them the material. He
believes that the normal way of teaching is dangerous, if a student is always being told what to learn
then in some sense they are being trained to think that they cannot figure out what to learn without
having someone actually telling them. What Ranciere sees as dangerous is not that we have things
explained to us, but that we develop attitudes of inferiority and superiority. The issue is we believe
others cannot learn something without us explaining and we think we cannot learn if we are not
explained to. Ranciere wrote, The book is made up of a series of reasoning s designed to make a
student understand some material. But now the schoolmaster opens his mouth to explain the book. He
makes a series of reasoning s in order to explain the series of reasoning s that constitute the book. But

the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed
those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great
importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy,
audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience
Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this
speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I
won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a
connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of
them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators,
those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something
about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience,
Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection.
Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just
another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their
actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience
connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part
of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou
used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying
In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Violent uproar is all
around, which makes this quote from the speech incredibly relevant. The entire Eulogy by

Book Thief Theme
Alexis Javier Mrs. Rosenwasser English 9H October 13, 2014 The Book Thief by Markus Zusak The
Book Thief is a text set in Germany during the time of World War II, focused on the life of the
protagonist, Liesel Meminger. Liesel, a young German girl, loses her family including her brother
Werner who died on a train on the way to Munich. She comprehends the feeling of loss and pain and
is conscious that she is existing in hard times. The narrator of the story, Death, witnesses her brother s
demise and kneels down to extract the boy s soft and cold spirit as Liesel shakes Werner in an attempt
to resuscitate him (Zusak 21). Of course, it does not work as Death questions Liesel s struggle to
restore her fallen brother. Thereafter, Lisel picks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, one interesting theme is forming ties with others. In Liesel s journey, she meets many
people, exclusively through her love of books and words. For instance, Liesel and her foster father,
Hans Hubermann, did not have a strong bond with each other. It was evident that Liesel did not want
to be with Rosa and Hans Hubermann. Later on, Liesel would have to deal with the constant remarks
of Saumensch, Saukerl, or Arschloch by Rosa. On the other hand, she became more comfortable living
with them because of reading and learning words from The Grave Digger s Handbook. Hans and
Liesel establish a deeper and more involved relationship with these books. For example, Hans and
Liesel study the alphabet which shows their bond developing. [Hans] patted the girl s hair. She d fallen
into his trap. With a smile like that, you don t need eyes. He hugged her and then looked again at the
picture, with a face of warm silver. Now for T (68). Moreover, Hans gifted Liesel with books for her
birthday such as The Mud Men, which intensified their relationship even more. Based on this
evidence, it is palpable that Hans and Liesel s bond strengthened through books and words from the
moment of Liesel s arrival through the end of their

Happiness In Hume s A Treatise Of Human Nature
In Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle claims that the human good is happiness, which can be understood
as activity in accordance with reason. Happiness here should be described as living well or doing well,
or living in a virtuous manner. Aristotle, from this, implicates that moral distinctions are derived from
reason. However, in Hume s A Treatise of Human Nature, particulars of Aristotle s claim become
contradictory. It can be seen that through Hume s argument of
Aristotle believes there to be one ultimate end that humans hope to achieve. As all actions lead to
some good or end, and these ends are useful for another desired end, the latter end is the one that is
truly desired. If all ends lead to another end, eventually there will be what would be considered the
highest end, one in which all other ends are aiming towards reaching. Aristotle believes this end to be
Eudaimonia, or happiness. It can be said that all other ends achieved are in hopes of achieving
happiness, and that happiness is an end for the sake of itself. This end then would ... Show more

Aristotle s implication that moral distinctions can be derived from reason seems to fail under Hume s
of the influencing of the will. First, it is necessary to establish Hume s argument that reason alone can
never be the motive to any action of the will. Hume distinguishes reasoning into two categories;
demonstrative, which is a priori and useful in relations of ideas; and probabilistic, which is a posteriori
and is useful in relating feeling of pain or pleasure to actions through experience. Neither of these,
however, actually determine our actions, they only help us understand the cause and effect of proposed
actions. The true motivation of will is a result of passion. While demonstrative and probabilistic
reasoning may give way to a particular sentiment, i.e. discovering truths or falsehoods, it is from these
sentiments we align our

Recent radar scans in Luxor show evidence of two previously unknown chambers that connect to the
tomb of Tutankhamun. The scans suggest this with 90% certainty, and they also suggest that the
chambers contain organic matter and metal. While the prospect of fresh tombs that have been
untouched for millennia already arouses excitement among anthropologists, archeologists, and many
more, there is speculation that Queen Nefertiti s remains may be found in one of the chambers. While
Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, Egypt s antiquities minister, suggests that the remains could also be of the

like Tutankhamun s tomb was in the 1900s. Still, there is debate

Gender Issues in August Strindberg s Miss Julie
August Strindberg was undoubtedly a contemporary writer, but where gender issues were concerned,
he preferred to support the past. His work reflected the cultural and societal environment around him
in 1887; this suggests themes throughout Miss Julie, such as gender inequality and women s rights,
were inflicted by his own struggle between classes and promiscuous relationships with women. It
becomes apparent in the play that Miss Julie, a self portrait of Strindberg, typifies Strindberg s creative
energy and the close relationship between his writing and lifestyle. Miss Julie s downfall can be
associated with many aspects of her life, ranging from the masculine influence in her life, to her
degenerated brain, thus making her a damaged, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mind you, Strindberg believed women to be of secondary form, despite him preaching equality of the

Miss Julie , as in his patriarchal society, men had control of who is at the top, and who is at the
bottom, hence the use of metaphors I m on top of a high pillar . Therefore, it is applicable that the
battle of sexes and gender inequality are responsible for Miss Julie s inevitable fate. Because I m a

that Jean is allowed to play with fire empowering himself over Miss Julie. On top of this, Miss Julie is

Certainly, it seems that the winner of the battle claims power as a prize, and thus Jean s feeble attempt

The first theories talked about within chapter 4 are the inferiority and superiority complex theories
developed by Alfred. The infinity feelings are the source of all human striving, and is normal among
us all. It is brought about as soon as we are born, as we must compensate for our lack of size or
independence. The greatest example I can give of the inferiority feeling happened two days ago with

A female patient from New York City is obviously going to be much different than a female farm wife
from Oklahoma. Personality doesn t depend wholly on biological forces, but depends much more on
the environment we was raised in. Horney believed that childhood was dominated by the safety need,
which is a higher level need for security and freedom from fear. She placed great emphasis on the
infant s helplessness. The more helpless children feel, the less they dare to rebel against their parents.
She also dwelled on anxiety which she called basic anxiety. Basic anxiety is a pervasive feeling of
loneliness and helplessness, that becomes the foundation for neurosis. In childhood we try to protect
ourselves against basic anxiety by securing affection, being submissive, attaining power, and by
withdrawing. These self protective mechanisms serve the one goal of defending basic anxiety. Karen
also developed a list of ten neurotic needs. A neurotic need is an irrational defense against anxiety that
becomes a permanent part of personality and affects behavior. Then ten neurotic needs are: affection

In the early twentieth century, film maker and producer Adolph Zukor met Jesse Lasky, owner of Jesse

On May 6, 1993, three eight year old boys were found savagely murdered in West Memphis Arkansas.

outcasts. With nothing but circumstantial evidence mounted upon these teenage boys, the community

The absence of blood on the bank and lack of mosquito bites on the boys bodies suggest that they
were murdered at another location and simply dumped at the creek. This leads to the speculation that
the boys were with someone that they trusted at another location when they were killed. Christopher
was the only one of the boys that had defensive wounds. This piece of evidence implies to two things:
first, all of the boys were comfortable with their attacker, and second, Christopher had possibly been
abused by the attacker before and knew what was coming (Steel). This would lead one to believe that
Chris was the target.
The police were convinced that they had found their killers in the three teenagers after hearing and
recording Jessie s so called confession to the crime and his tying Damien and Jason to it as well. Even
though alibis were presented by the boys the police ignored them and went ahead with the arrests. It is
rather obvious, that basing the whole case and investigation on the coerced confession given by Jessie
is a seriously flawed decision on the part of the West Memphis police and brings the credibility of the
department into question. Police discovered a knife in the Byers household belonging to John Mark
Byers. Forensics stated that the type of blade on the knife was the same type used to cut and mutilate
the three young boys; yet the blood found on the knife was never analyzed. When asked about the

Many acts of violent crimes have connected to young players and violent videos games. These young
players aren t supposed to be playing this game anyways. There is a reason these games are labeled

The Holocene Extinction, the Sixth Extinction or the Anthropocene Extinction, and whether we like it

deforestation, hunting, pollution, the introduction of non native species into various regions,
destruction of vast tracts of land, river systems, and habitats, and the widespread transmission of

Haynie believes the cause of this distorted reporting is due to three main problems: money, The
Bedford Guide for College Writers, 10th edition, includes the article: As Attitudes Shift on PTSD,
Media Slow to Remove Stigma, by Mike Haynie. Haynie, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is also the founder

military service to mental illness and violence (547). He reiterates President Bill Clinton s imperative
that Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. In Haynie s view, the inevitable financially driven
media outlets are the main cause of the continued stigma casting military veterans as criminally

Ernest Hemingway
But man is not made for defeat, he said. A man can be destroyed but not defeated. (Hemingway, 29).
This is one of the lines that Ernest Hemingway uses in one of his books, titled, The Old Man and The
Sea. It was published in 1952, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize the following year. The story of an
old fisherman s journey, his long and lonely struggle with a fish and the sea, was considered to be the
most popular of all his works. Fortunately for this well known author, he has many more books,
novels and short stories that his readers enjoy. Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park, Illinois on

(during World War I). There, he signed on and became an ambulance driver in Italy. In his non fiction

how rescuers had to collect the shredded fragments of dead people. He was wounded by mortar fire,
but despite that managed to carry an Italian soldier to safety, and was awarded the Italian Silver Medal

Hemingway was only eighteen at the time. He had several wounds on both legs, and had to be

Hemingway was devastated by Agnes rejection, and he followed a pattern of abandoning a wife before
she abandoned him in future relationships. Personally, one might think that there is more to the way
Hemingway was than what a reader may believe.

Territorial Expansion DBQ
Manifest destiny and territorial expansion divided the United States from 1830 to 1860 through views
on Texas, disagreements regarding whether or not it was justifiable to travel west for land, and how to
handle the war that may have arisen as a result of territorial expansion. There was much division
among Americans regarding what should be done with Texas. Some argued that it should join the
other states so that there could be peace between them and Texas (Document F) and that it would
make the slaves more comfortable by providing them with more land and support (Document C.)
However, others argued that annexing Texas would create a dangerous imbalance of slave and free
states. In Document B, Reverend William Ellery Channing claimed that By annexing Texas, we shall
not only create [slavery] where it does not exist, but breathe new life into it, where its end seemed to
be near. In other words, by including Texas as a free state, slavery would only continue to spread for a
longer amount of time than it would have originally. This would, of course, extend the entire conflict
of whether or not slavery was just. This controversy over Texas greatly divided the states amongst
themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The dreams start occurring in the very beginning of Invisible Man. In the infamous Reefer Dream , IM
talks about a dream he had after he used narcotics. In this bizarre dream, IM hears a speech on the
blackness of black , is assaulted by the son of a former slave, and is run over by a speeding machine.
All of this occurs while listening to What Did I Do To Be So Black and Blue? (pgs 9 12). This is one
of the most significant dreams in the book.
In another important dream, IM s deceased grandfather gives ... Show more content on

Then he dreamed of a hill, that no matter how fast he climbed, it seemed farther away, until finally he
reaches the top. On top of the hill is a white house. Trueblood went in the house, and there is a room
that is totally white. Inside the room is a white girl who wants Trueblood to snuggle up with her. But
he just pushes her on to the bed and, the woman just seems to sink outta sight, that there bed was so
soft.... Then swoosh! All of a sudden, a flock of little white geese fly out of the bed(Ellison 55 58).
Soon after, Trueblood wakes up and is going to tell his wife about the dream, but when he wakes up,
he is on top of his daughter. This is important because this dream eventually gets IM kicked out of
college. The reason for IM s expulsion is because Norton had a heart attack due to the shock of
hearing this dream.
Dr. Bledsoe is a target of IM s rage. IM often dreams of publicly humiliating Bledsoe by forcing him
to eat chitterlings. The reason IM feels hatred towards Bledsoe is because IM feels Bledsoe is fully
responsible for IM moving to Harlem. He also feels like he has been stabbed in the back by Bledsoe,
because Bledsoe wrote letters of recommendation that were really letters of degradation. These are the
reasons that IM often dreams of revenge.
IM s grandfather is a constant figure in most of IM s dreams. In a dream after IM joins the
Brotherhood, his grandfather tells him that, You start up Saul, and end up Paul

Incivility Essay
There was once a time in history in which people were scared to say the wrong thing at the wrong
time. According to Many aspects of Society Are Less Civil by Paul Thoms, manners may have been a
form of strict etiquette society had a form of courtesy. Civility was once only used by the upper class
from their former homes in Europe. The public wanted to execute a level of sophistication to copy the
ways of royalty. Though many of these practices were different from what there is today, the middle
and lower class had no sense of these ways. But in the 21st century Americans have accustomed
themselves to present a state of incivility. According to Merriam Webster incivility is defined as a rude
or impolite attitude or behavior: lack of civility. Incivility can be seen in many different ways in this
society, resulting in informality. Incivility is a problem caused by the influences around us, ... Show

Technology has just made it easier for society to show this type of disrespect. Having the ability to do
with it with an anonymous avatar gives a person a certain fell of stimulation. Majoo believed that s its
only people being nasty, and the groups that are important or influence our society, will be minimized
in what actually might be important. Media has always been around but not the way it is today. Since
there are so many different forms of media, these programs show us more incivility than we saw thirty
years ago. Society has either became lazy or they just don t have filters. Polite interaction may no
longer seem to yield solutions (Heldenfels). Incivility is the very problem cause by the influences
around us, without this technology advancing so much we wouldn t have people such as web trolls. I
am not saying this technology has ruined us but our disrespect and cowardness has ruined our civility

Summary Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi
Title One of the natural instincts of intelligent beings is in the case of fear to fight, or to run away;
however, in some cases like in the concentration camps in Germany during World War II it is hard to
do either of those two natural responses. This issue, with not being able to enact on this natural
instinct because of the restriction of being closely controlled, is related to Primo Levi in his
autobiography Survival in Auschwitz he was a captured Italian Jew who was able to survive
Auschwitz because of how he internally thought with himself to stay alive. The Holocaust is one of
the most researched events during World War II; and Levi is one of the, relatively, few who survived,
and went on to be able to tell his story. In Survival in Auschwitz Levi detailed the horrible conditions
the soldiers lived and worked in as well as the malnutrition he experienced. Levi also detailed his
struggle to stay human which, along with climbing up the social ranks, helped him survive; As a result
of these struggles Levi seems to believe there is at least a slight lesson to learn from his survival.
During World War II, if a person was labeled as a Jew, whether they were actively practicing or not,
and was captured then sent to a concentration camp life was absolutely brutal. Unless you were in Ka
Be, the concentration camp version of an infirmary, there were hardly any sanitary places. Even the
bathroom which should be clean and at least have clean running water was disgusting; as

State Tournament Case Study
Calaveras Enterprise Sports Editor Guy Dossi spoke with Calaveras High School head wrestling coach
Vince Bicocca Monday Feb. 26 before practice. The two spoke of the recent Masters Tournament, the
continued success of the program and the upcoming California State Tournament.
GD: As we look around the wrestling room, there are only a few bodies in here. Compare that to a few
weeks ago when it was packed. Now with only two Calaveras wrestlers moving on to compete at the
State Tournament, is it weird to see the room so empty?
VB: It s different, but I wouldn t say that it s weird. When you funnel down to the end of the season,
that s what happens. There has been years where we don t have anyone this week and that s a bad
feeling. But this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You must be pretty thrilled that they have advanced this far?
VB: Any time you get to the state, especially getting through our section, you have a shot at placing.
That s how I feel with Elliot and Victor.
GD: Victor and Elliot are both going to state, but there was a chance that the senior duo of Seth Puisis
and John Kelley could join them. But both Puisis and Kelley lost in the final seconds of their matches.
That must have been tough to see them get so close and miss by just a few seconds.
VB: John and Seth both had a tremendous season. They both placed at the masters. They missed the
top six, which is the qualifiers for the state, by seconds. John gave up an escape with four seconds left.
So he was four seconds away from winning that match. Seth was 10 seconds away. He gave up a
takedown in the last 10 seconds. We came so close to sending four kids to the state, which would have
been a new record for us. But Seth and John have surpassed my wildest expectations.
GD: Your program had another successful season. Two Mother Lode League championships and two
section titles is just about as good as it gets. Have you been able to sit back and reflect on the quality

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags
Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles
making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super
markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing
up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles
making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers
know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only
paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from
creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were
first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ;
made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to
terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out
plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural
resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any
supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t
much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable
bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the
same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric
resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t
be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources.
Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources
than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a
distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone
running out of resources, the creation and

The Progression from spirituals to Black Gospel Music
Many people would refer to gospel music as religious songs or songs regarding to life as a Christian.
Gospel music varies, which gives an alternative to Christian music with a mix of secular music. With
it being many styles of Christian music, the performance, the lyrics, instruments and the formation,
gives gospel music different meanings. To most, gospel is simply thanks and praise and worship to the
Lord. The establishment of gospel goes way back with European and African roots. The first known
use of gospel was in 1874 when a European songwriter named Philip P. Bliss titled a songbook as
Gospel Songs. Tribal African music was highly different than European music in major ways.

Howard Gardner And The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences
Howard Gardner and The Theory of Multiple Intelligences Howard Gardner, born in Scranton,
Pennsylvania, on July 11, 1943 is best known for his Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Gardner, a
developmental psychologist, received his undergraduate degree and PhD from Harvard University.
Gardner has authored many books/articles and received many awards. In his book, Frames of Mind:
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Gardner introduced The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. This
paper will discuss The Theory of Multiple Intelligences and give practical ways this theory can be
used in the classroom.
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences In 1983 Howard Gardner introduced The Theory of Multiple
Intelligences. In his theory, Gardner suggests that all people possess eight intelligences. The eight
intelligences are linguistic (verbal), musical, spatial, logical mathematical, bodily kinesthetic
(movement), interpersonal (understanding others), intrapersonal (understanding self), and naturalist
(observing and understanding natural and human made patterns and systems) (Woolfolk, 2014, p.134).
The first intelligence, linguistic or verbal, deals with language. Someone with linguistic intelligence
has the ability to express themselves easily and understand complex word meanings. They usually
think in words and reflect on the use of language. Linguistic intelligence is the most widely shared
human competence (Gardner, n.d., p.1). These are the poets, public speakers, and authors.

Hector Berlioz Research Paper
During the nineteenth century, music composers got inspiration from sources outside of the musical
world. The encounter with nature, a love tragedy, impressions of a journey, or a play often served as
motives that could be portrayed through music by using different colors, sound effects and moods. In
this type of music, events are described and as such it is called descriptive music. One of the most well
known composers of the nineteenth century of this type of music is Hector Berlioz.
Hector Berlioz was born in Grenoble, France in 1803. At his father s request, Berlioz pursued studies
in medicine before deciding to live his life as a music composer. His angry father decided to terminate
all of Berlioz s living supplies. Thus, while studying music in Paris, Berlioz began his career as a
music critic to earn a living. While in Paris, Berlioz saw a play by William Shakespeare, which greatly
inspired him. Berlioz composed many musical pieces that were inspired by literature works, such as
Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Damnation of Faust and The Trojans. Perhaps the most famous piece by
Hector Berlioz is Symphonie Fanstastique.

The main idea from the first movement comes back again, which later transitions to the waltz theme

when he remembers his love again. The harp playing in the background indicates a sense of loneliness
felt by the artist; he imagines dancing with his love in the ball room when he suddenly realizes that it
is only a dream and he is still in the ball. The louder music is to suggest that there are people in the
ballroom, dancing around the artist. At the end of this part, the music gets faster, which creates a sense

James I Growing Hostility
Use Sources 13 14 and 15 and your own knowledge. Do you agree with the view that the main reason
for hostility towards James I in England, in the years before 1618, was the immorality and corruption
of the royal Court? Before the years 1618, there were various factors which contributed towards the
hostility of James I. These factors include his unpopular decisions, uneasy relations with parliament,
matters of religion and finally the issue of his extravagant lifestyle in which he shared with his
favourites in court at a time when England was already in a poor economic state. However, to a certain
extent in many ways it is proven that that his declining popularity had a lot to do with the immorality
and corruption of the Royal Court. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1613, after a scandalous divorce, Robert Carr married Frances Howard, daughter of the Earl of

Lord Hume and Lord Hay. However the major favourites of his English reign included Robert Carr

was showered with money, gifts and land (including Sherborne Manor which had once belonged to
Raleigh) and created Viscount Rochester in 1611 and the Earl of Somerset in 1616. However due to
the scandal which led to the imprisonment of Carr, Villiers was next in line to fill the vacuum created
at court following the disgrace of Carr. However, Villiers portrayed an equally poor image of the court
as he retained the greatest power in the land. He acquire the position that Essex had craved and
Elizabeth had refused in 1601: a dominant role in the distribution of patronage and effect control of
government. This reinforces James unprofessional attitude in

  • 2. The True Meaning Of Justice In Plato s The Republic Philosophers for centuries have deliberated the true meaning of justice and what it means to be a just human. Is it a social contract made by men? Or is it a virtue possessed by certain people within their souls? Plato in his book The Republic gives us his view of how justice is a human virtue and extension of ones soul. Socrates envisioned a city later called the city of pigs . His idea of an ideal utopia was people living in constraint of their basic needs. People would lead simple lives and perform tasks they were naturally good at. This way the whole city would be interdependent on each other, everyone working to their own and contributing to the economy. Farmers, builders, traders were necessary as their skills would help people gain the basic needs of life such as food, shelter and clothing. Each person performing one job would make them specialized in their trade, ensuring production remains at the highest efficiency. (Plato, the republic, 369 373) Socrates says, And if so, we must infer that all things are produced more plentifully and easily and of a better quality when one man does one thing which is natural to him and does it at the right time, and leaves other things. said Socrates. (Plato, the republic, 222) Socrates does talk about three different classes that include the proletariats, the craftsmen and the traders who would reside in the city. He believed in absolute simplicity and thought that since everyone worked towards a common goal, the city would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Challenges in Pension Reform CHALLENGES IN PENSION REFORM A RESEARCH PROJECT SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF NATIONAL UNIVERSITY IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION NOVEMBER 2012 By James Michael Sandburg Capstone Project Faculty Advisor Gary Geiler CAPSTONE PROJECT APPROVAL FORM I certify that I have read the Project of James Michael Sandburg entitled Challenges in Pension Reform, and that, in my opinion, it is satisfactory in scope and quality for the degree of Master of Public Administration at National University. By this point we are 60 to 70 years old and ready to retire in some level of comfort and dignity, without having to work anymore retirement and our declining years, they say. That lasts another dozen years, give or take a decade. The level of comfort and dignity one enjoys during those final years is measured mostly by the wealth we have managed to accumulate during the 3 or 4 decades we toiled at those chosen professions we spent so many years preparing for. For most of us, that wealth consists mainly in something modern society calls a pension. Because most of us lack the discipline, sophistication, or skills needed to set aside and invest money during our working years, the task of accumulating pension funds is left mainly up to our employers, who in turn hire highly specialized teams of people to administer those pension funds. Some of them do that extremely well; others not so much. Because not all employers offered pensions, in 1935 Congress passed legislation authorizing the federal government to tax workers and their employers, in exchange for guaranteeing a basic pension. That legislation was the Social Security Act. Social Security was never intended to replace employer provided pensions, or to discourage workers from accumulating their own retirement funds. Rather, the intent was that Social Security would provide a guaranteed base upon which workers and their employers could build. Employer provided pensions are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gaddaf Research Paper An ideology is any set of fixed, predictable ideas held by politicians and citizens on how to serve the public good . Muammar al Gaddafi s ideology as a revolutionary , meaning he was involve[ed in] or support[ed] a political revolution ; as a Bedouin , who are Arabic nomads and believe that society depends on its people to support it ; and as an Arab nationalist, meaning pride in Arab achievements and desire for unity among Arab nations , worked together to form his belief system. Muammar al Gaddafi was hindered by his ideology in successfully preventing and ending uprisings in Libya? First, Gaddafi was deluded by his beliefs as a revolutionary, in that he thought that his people would not rise against him . Even during the Libyan revolts in 2011, Gaddafi said in an interview that, They love me. All my people [are] with me. They love me all. They would die to protect me . His views made it difficult for him to believe that the Libyan people would revolt because that notion completely contradicts his view that he was harmonious with Libya itself. Even while he was in the middle of dealing with uprisings, he put the blame on outside influences, like the West or Al Qaeda drugging Libyan people. But, have you thought about letting them inside? Dogs every day pass on to a better life than what we gave them. At least that s what I believe in. I believe in an afterlife for all. Humans and animals all deserve a better life. But when you think about it, dogs have feelings and can feel pain too. Leaving dogs outside this season is wrong, and you need to do something about it. Let them at least go outside and do their business, but take them inside and wrap them up in a blanket of some kind afterwards. This will warm them up and melt any ice that may have stuck to their paws or body. Also, don t give them cold water. Warm it up in a microwave or in a tea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Sentiment analysis process i) Collection of data ii) Preparation of the text iii) Detecting the sentiments iv) Classifying the sentiment v) Output i) Collection of data: the first step in sentiment analysis involves collection of data from user. These data are disorganized, expressed in different ways by using different vocabularies, slangs, context of writing etc. Manual analysis is almost impossible. Therefore, text analytics and natural language processing are used to extract and classify[11]. ii) Preparation of the text : This step involves cleaning of the extracted data before analyzing it. Here non textual and irrelevant content for the analysis are identified and discarded iii) Detecting the sentiments: All the extracted sentences of the views and opinions are studied. From this sentences with subjective expressions which involves opinions, beliefs and view are retained back whereas sentences with objective communication i.e facts, factual information are discarded iv) Classifying the sentiment: Here, subjective sentences are classified as positive, negative, or good, bad or like, dislike[1] v) Output: The main objective of sentiment analysis is to convert unstructured text into meaningful data. When the analysis is finished, the text results are displayed on graphs in the form of pie chart, bar chart and line graphs. • 11. Critical Analysis Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find By... Flannery O Connor was often shocked to find how people interpreted her stories. Some readers of A Good Man is Hard to Find believed the grandmother was evil, even a witch. Soon O Connor set out, quite explicitly, in letters and lectures to detail the theology of the story and the importance of the grandmother as an agent of grace. In a letter to John Hawkes, she explained how violence and grace come together: More than in the Devil I am interested in the indication of Grace, the moment when you know that Grace has been offered and accepted such as the moment when the Grandmother realizes the Misfit is one of her own children. These moments are prepared for (by me anyway) by the intensity of the evil circumstances. When O Connor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally O Connor chalked up all the misreadings and confusion to the spiritual shortcomings of the modern reader: Today s audience is one in which religious feeling has become, if not atrophied, at least vaporous and sentimental. But the discrepancies between how O Connor is often read and how she claimed she should be read cannot simply be explained by her theology of grace or by the lack of religious feeling among readers. Critical opinion over the years has tended to line up behind O Connor s own explanations; however, O Connor s analysis of A Good Man Is Hard to Find still seems baffling and occasionally a critic has questioned the theology of the fiction. Andre Bleikasten, focusing on O Connor s novels, claimed that the truth of O Connor s work is the truth of her art, not that of her church. Her fiction does refer to an implicit theology, but if we rely, as we should, on its testimony rather than on the author s comments, we shall have to admit that the Catholic orthodoxy of her work is at least debatable And Frederick Asals recalls D. H. Lawrence s advice that a reader should trust the tale and not the teller. The positive association between SSB consumption and cases of increased weights and risks for diabetes has certainly drawn public attention. Other medical problems that are correlated include metabolic syndrome, hypocalcemia, kidney stones, increased blood pressure, hypertension, and coronary heart disease (DeSantis). According to a study commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO), 20% of weight gain over thirty years in the US was caused by SSB consumption in children and adults. An additional serving of one SSB per day is equated to an additional 0.06 unit increase in body mass index per year and one half pound of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the penny per ounce tax were to be implemented nationwide, over ten years, there would be an estimated savings of $9.6 billion for diabetes related costs and $7.4 billion for cardiovascular disease related costs (Wang). Moreover, the reduction in numbers of strokes and premature deaths linked to the consumption of SSBs further savings on medical costs. As a result, the nation can reduce wasteful healthcare spending and focus on funding medical improvements. Key Players Though the tax is levied against the distributors of the sugar sweetened beverages, the concept of tax passing is apparent as prices of taxed beverages is passed on to consumers. Differing from the common sales tax, an excise tax is levied on producers and... passed on to the consumer via the product s price tag (Wang). Adjusted for tax and inflation, prices for tax beverages rose from December 2014 to March 2016 by about $0.0107 per ounce in large supermarkets and $0.0131 per ounce in small chain supermarkets and gas stations (Silver). Abortion a Problem for Teenage Girls Abortion a problem for teenage girls The purpose of this essay is to bring awareness to the medical procedure of abortion, which is a very dangerous procedure that needs to be solved. The target audience is those teenage girls that are deciding to abort using irrelevant procedures. This problem is an increasing trend that is affecting younger and younger girls as time passes due to poor sex education involvement in schools, and family discussions. Sometimes girls have rational reasons of why they decide to abort, like when they have serious diseases, when their economic situation is not the best, or when they were victims of sexual abuse. Thus, there have been many cases in which girls just decide to abort for no reason at all without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the articles from Olukoya amp; Kaya, relate to the one from Cumberland because they state that girls should have private advising at schools in order to orient them towards the right track. Even though, Cumberland goes more into detail about what s one of the ways to solve the problem, like implementing sex based classes in schools, the article also heads the same approach to promote counseling to pregnant girls. Cumberland, as well as Olukoya amp; Kaya approach the problem of abortion based on education programs available, how these programs might help parents understand the situation of their daughters, and how they can help them make the right decision. Also, the second solution to undecided abortions is to telling relative girls trust in order to receive emotional or economic assistance. This solution is really good when the communication within the family is good, but it s not the best solution to the problem. The reason for this is because sometimes family members can have emotional conflicts, and they might not take the idea of pregnancy positively. This can affect the girl s decision because their feelings are dependent on their background; they can feel shyness, fear, or anger towards the idea of pregnancy. Additionally, girls can end up killing the baby and themselves because they were not aware of the correct precautions to take when aborting. On the other hand, sometimes telling a relative can bring many positive effects on the decision because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A motivator may prompt a performer by emphasising their progress in a positive way such as praising them on a good performance therefore inspiring them to want to do well again. An example of a motivator would be Kelly Holmes. Not only has she achieved gold in both the 1400m and the 800m in the 2004 Athens Olympics but she has set up the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust which engages with more than 3,000 vulnerable young people aged between 16 and 25 and provide them with a stepping stone into community sport. It began in 1864 during the Charlottetown conference in 1864, lead to the implementation of the British North America Act in 1867, before finally being patriated in Canada in 1982 (Dodek 2013, 21, 28). While some may say it is necessary to create an elected senate, there are other options to give the Senate more legitimacy. Just because a body is appointed does not mean it cannot have a measure of popular support. Take for instance the Supreme Court of Canada, which is an appointed body that is wildly respected, and the reason they are respected are because they are professionals who perform a crucial role in society. A better class of senate could be achieved by changing the process to appoint senators by cutting down on patronage and partisan appointments to give it more legitimacy (Crowley Et al 2014, 13). In a similar vein of creating a senate that is not beholden to political parties, and their masters, making it a more independent body is to continue along the route that Primer Justin Trudeau started in 2014, by kicking out Liberal Senators from his caucus (Cudmore 2014). By creating independent senators, and attempting to make them the new normal it would make the senate a true chamber of sober second thought. He explains how people are too dependent on others in order to obtain knowledge which they can do on their own. *Upon reading his argument, I begin to agree with his view on our education system and how it s dulling the minds of individuals. * In the first chapter, An Intellectual Adventure, Ranciere believes that most individuals think they cannot gain knowledge without a master; someone needs to directly teach them the material. He believes that the normal way of teaching is dangerous, if a student is always being told what to learn then in some sense they are being trained to think that they cannot figure out what to learn without having someone actually telling them. What Ranciere sees as dangerous is not that we have things explained to us, but that we develop attitudes of inferiority and superiority. The issue is we believe others cannot learn something without us explaining and we think we cannot learn if we are not explained to. She drivingly outlined the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy, audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators, those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience, Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection. Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Happiness here should be described as living well or doing well, or living in a virtuous manner. Aristotle, from this, implicates that moral distinctions are derived from reason. However, in Hume s A Treatise of Human Nature, particulars of Aristotle s claim become contradictory. It can be seen that through Hume s argument of Aristotle believes there to be one ultimate end that humans hope to achieve. As all actions lead to some good or end, and these ends are useful for another desired end, the latter end is the one that is truly desired. If all ends lead to another end, eventually there will be what would be considered the highest end, one in which all other ends are aiming towards reaching. This extinction event is known as The Holocene Extinction, the Sixth Extinction or the Anthropocene Extinction, and whether we like it or not, there is definitely a considerable amount of evidence to prove that this mass extinction is happening, and that the cause is largely due to human activity. Specific research indicates that deforestation, hunting, pollution, the introduction of non native species into various regions, destruction of vast tracts of land, river systems, and habitats, and the widespread transmission of infectious diseases spread through livestock and crops are having the most drastic effects on most species. Current studies even show that the present rate of extinction may be up to 140,000 species per year, making it the greatest loss of biodiversity since the Cretaceous Paleogene Extinction. He reiterates President Bill Clinton s imperative that Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. In Haynie s view, the inevitable financially driven media outlets are the main cause of the continued stigma casting military veterans as criminally unstable. There was much division among Americans regarding what should be done with Texas. Some argued that it should join the other states so that there could be peace between them and Texas (Document F) and that it would make the slaves more comfortable by providing them with more land and support (Document C.) However, others argued that annexing Texas would create a dangerous imbalance of slave and free states. In Document B, Reverend William Ellery Channing claimed that By annexing Texas, we shall not only create [slavery] where it does not exist, but breathe new life into it, where its end seemed to be near. In other words, by including Texas as a free state, slavery would only continue to spread for a longer amount of time than it would have originally. Summary Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi Title One of the natural instincts of intelligent beings is in the case of fear to fight, or to run away; however, in some cases like in the concentration camps in Germany during World War II it is hard to do either of those two natural responses. This issue, with not being able to enact on this natural instinct because of the restriction of being closely controlled, is related to Primo Levi in his autobiography Survival in Auschwitz he was a captured Italian Jew who was able to survive Auschwitz because of how he internally thought with himself to stay alive. The Holocaust is one of the most researched events during World War II; and Levi is one of the, relatively, few who survived, and went on to be able to tell his story. In Survival in Auschwitz Levi detailed the horrible conditions the soldiers lived and worked in as well as the malnutrition he experienced. Levi also detailed his struggle to stay human which, along with climbing up the social ranks, helped him survive; As a result of these struggles Levi seems to believe there is at least a slight lesson to learn from his survival. During World War II, if a person was labeled as a Jew, whether they were actively practicing or not, and was captured then sent to a concentration camp life was absolutely brutal. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ; made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. The encounter with nature, a love tragedy, impressions of a journey, or a play often served as motives that could be portrayed through music by using different colors, sound effects and moods.
