At its very heart, the role of mobile, both in 2014 and since its inception, is to connect us. Mobile connects us to each other: we live in a society that is increasingly mobile first and where mobile is a part of all of our lives. Mobile connects us to the world around us: the Internet of Things means that we are becoming increasingly interconnected with all aspects of our day to day lives, both on a personal and global level. Mobile also connects us to businesses and brands, providing new and expanding avenues to connect with consumers and new technology with which to do it. We live in a mobile first world, and mobile connects us to every part of it. Matt Hunt shares the experience that Apadmi has gained during their time at the forefront of the mobile industry, detailing not just why mobile is connecting us, but how.

Post 1:
With the emerging trends in technology, phones were updated to smart phones, there are two major type of OS leading in the phone market. One is Android and other is iOS. Each OS has their own pros and cons. Android is an Open Source software which belongs to Linux family whereas iOS is closed source model belongs to OS X, UNIX family and is used in Apple devices. It is difficult to transfer a file from a non-apple device like iPad and iPhone, the transfer has to go through iTunes or cloud. Communication between apple eco system is easier, faster with a feature called Airdrop which is available in all iOS and OS X [1]. Coming to the security part, iOS is more secure than Android because, iOS doesn’t reveal source code to developers where as android releases source code to its developers. The vulnerabilities can be easily found and can put the phone and tablet to risk.
On a whole, I would say that Android has huge popularity due to the number of apps available in the google play store. As lot of developers are there for open source applications, android devices get to customize more according to user’s wish. Android owners can change the source code according to their preferences [2]. This appears to have both pros and cons. Pro is that use can customize and see changes while con is that cybercriminals can alter the source code if there is an open end while editing the source code. On the other hand, Apple’s iOS has more difficult controls and review process to add an app is difficult. iOS users can’t customize ROMs on their devices and it is controlled by Apple alone. It has better security than android devices.

Android Design Patterns in Mobile Application Development - Michalis Grigorop...Michail Grigoropoulos
Design patterns help developers and designers to solve common design problems by using tested and user friendly solutions. The term can be applied to both directions to build a thing and the thing itself. The purpose of this study is to present such solutions and examine their applicability in android application development and user experience. For the study's purposes, an application called "Messeme" was developed based on some of the design patterns that are presented in the Second section of this Thesis.
How To Develop IoT Mobile ApplicationsAshish Kumar
Know how to develop an IoT mobile application for connected devices. IoT is a technology for future but it is still in early stages so it is required to know and get Internet of Things training of common IoT platforms like IBM Watson, Google Brillo, Microsoft Azure IoT Suite, Apple HomeKit etc.
Here are some things to bear in mind while IoT mobile applications:
• Layered Architecture of IoT mobile apps
• Choice of Platform
• IoT application must solve a problem
• Embedding applications with security

Yet another Operating System for mobile devices… sponsored by the
Chinese government.
COS – for Chinese Operating System – for mobile is
expected for 2015 and is supposed to compete directly
with Google’s Android, which operates 90% of the
Chinese smartphones.
China is already preparing the battlefield: it started developing COS
(based on Linux, as Google Android, but not OpenSource) for desktop
PCs, expected to be distributed end of this year, and launched actions
against Microsoft (based on security and anti-monopolistic reasons…),
especially banning Windows 8. Google may be another kind of
opponent, but if COS for mobile is good enough to run Xiaomi or Huawei
smartphones and tablets, the Internet giant may have some serious
troubles coming forward.

More and more Android devices and more and more
fragmentations*.
Android ecosystem definitely lacks some policies in the way vendors
and operators are supposed to deliver OS updates to end-users.
Vendors have to struggle with compatibilities against the existing
devices and operators (carriers) have to make sure a OS update won’t
damage the device they sold. If the device didn’t really caught attention,
there is rather unlikely it’s OS will be updated…
The most complicated issue to address given that fragmentation is the
applications layout: it has to be admitted that an Android app does not
look perfect on all Android devices.
Developing Android applications feels more and more like developing a
mobile site… (*) http://opensignal.com/reports/2014/android-fragmentation/

Beacons (working with Low Bluetooth Energy technology) are the big hit of
connected devices*. Despite they basically only know their positions and can
send very simple messages to surrounding devices…
Estimote, a pioneer of beacons, is building a new kind of beacons, thinner and
smaller than its first version, and, moreover, with a temperature and a motion
(accelerometer) sensors. This opens up numerous new possibilities of using
beacons, because they can be attached to moving objects and therefore
provides nearby information but in different locations.
Such connected devices leads the path to the Internet of Computing, much
more than to the Internet of Things; connected devices will be able to provide
relevant pre-processed information based on their environment, position,
location, etc. and therefore be useful as small data computer, participating to a
broader computing landscape involving smartphones, tablets, servers, etc.
