Abstract
Solar energy is one of the most used energy sources that all living things depend
upon. Man has been able to capture some of the sun s energy and uses it for
cooking, heating and to power everyday appliances. Solar energy technologies have
come a long way. Solar cells, commonly referred to as photovoltaic cells, transform
the solar energy into electrical energy. Owing that solar energy is renewable and
could be the most dependable source of electricity, it is worthwhile to drive the
production costs further down to enable growth in the photovoltaic manufacturing
sector. Research in the solar cell manufacturing field indicates that influences ... Show

In converting solar enagy to electrical energy for use, Solar cells commonly known as
photovoltaic cells are used. Technology innovations in the solar photovoltaicsis
anticipated to significantly reduced the cost of energy across the globe (Kalkman et
al, 2015). This paper will look to investigate and research on prospective production
practices and innovations that will help to drive down expenditure involved in the
production of photovoltaic materials.
In the past four decades, there have been numerous strides made in the
photovoltaic enagy field which has seen has seen the emergence of PV as a viable
source of renewable energy. One significant development is the progressive
reduction in the unit cost of photovoltaic cells made from silicon. For instance, an
analysis of the cost in dollars per watt of Crystalline Silicon from 1977 indicates
that the cost has been declining steadily. In 1977, the cost in dollars per watt
($IW) over $76, in the year 2000, it stood at $5 and surprisingly, in 2015 it was at a
low of $0.30 (Kalkman et al, 2015). Due to the decline in cost per unit watt,
photovoltaic energy production has reached grid parity in 40 countries of thereabout.
In it projected that by the end of this year, it would have attained grid parity in more
than half of the countries of the world (Balfour Shaw, 2011).
Albeit the cost of c Si cells has become very affordable, its low cost has made it hard

3. Analysis Of Michael Jackson s The Equalization Of...
Throughout our generation today, the equalization of blacks and whites is a very
big controversy in everyday life. This year white actor Joseph Fiennes was
reportedly chosen to cast as the role of the superstar Michael Jackson in a British
movie about a road trip Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marlon Brando took after the
incident of 9/11. This articles speaks about the uproar of the African Americans about
the decision to have a white man play the artistic icon of African Americanculture,
Michael Jackson. It discusses who is able to assume a specific role in movies based
on raceand culture of the character compared to the person playing the character.
Without getting the opinions of people on who they think should play the iconic
popstar, they chose a white man. Joseph Fiennes, a white British man, was given
the role of Michael Jackson in the upcoming British film Elizabeth, Michael,
Marlon . Many people, particularly African Americans, were outraged with this
decision, especially since this was the second year in a row that all the Academy
Award nominees were white. African Americans feel that Michael Jackson,
considered to be a cultural hero and greatest song and dance man of the 20th
century should be played by a black actor. It makes you wonder if a white actor can
play a black character or vice versa. This discussion demonstrates two different
sociological concepts. One being of racial socialization as it relates to the raceof the
actor who should play Michael

The privacy issues surrounding social networking sites are nothing new by any
stretch of the imagination, but it seems that many people have mismatched
expectations when it comes to privacy and social networks. Social
Network Sites (SNS) are websites that allow users to upload information to a public
profile, create a list of online friends, and browse the profiles of other users of the
SNS. The websites have membership rules and community standards. Users disclose
identity relevant information via their profile to others. This information is

Laws to minimize privacy threats
Not all threats for privacy in Social Network Sites materialize and damage users in
the same way. A risk analysis approach is needed to incorporate these insecurities
into the analysis. The experts identified multiple threats for users of Social Network
Sites. When these threats materialize, they become incidents that affect a certain
amount of people. However, not all of these incidents damage users in the same way.
The damage incurred depends on the type of threat and the perception of the user.
Laws are directed at preventing the threats from materializing. More specifically,
American tort laws create means for people to find compensations against the
damages they incurred. Experts rate to what extent the tort laws address the threats
for privacy and resulting damages they identified. The ratings of the various tort laws
are depicted in illustration below.
In 1986, Congress passed the Stored Communications Act as part of the Electronic

What is Peacemaking Criminology?
The process in the criminal justice that is currently used in the US is based on
solving conflicts with force, usually referred as fight fire with fire. The approach
used violence to solve crime related problems. Richard Quinney developed an
approach that tends to solve crime in a peaceful manner. He suggest that peace
keeping method can be used to create peace within the society. The normal process
of solving crime issues used violence to solve violence. Peacemaking approach
emphasizes on respecting the dignity of the individual. This process of solving crime
problems if used properly can be able to reduce the amount of crimes in the criminal
justice. This is because, the basic principle of this approach is to use non violent
approach to solve crimes hence is a long lasting solution.

6. LSD and the 60s Music Scene Essay
In the sixties, the psychedelic music scene was at its prime and the world was full
of hippie musicians that loved to drop acid and create some of the most interesting
and innovative music known to man. During this time, drugs were a very popular
part of the hippie culture and the prevalence of LSD helped to create the distinct
genre of psychedelic musicknown as psychedelic or acid rock. Many bands and
artists such as Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, and The Byrds were
heavily influenced by LSD, which led to the creation of some very popular music.
This decade was full of adventure, music, sex, and drugs, and it was all made
possible due to this powerfully trippy drug.

The goal of LSD, along with other psychedelic drugs, was to open the mind and
find a new light to look upon things (Bacig). Many artists took this approach to their
music and would drop acid before composing music. This gave the music of this era
a distinct sound and without LSD, the world would not have psychedelic rock. During
this time, many artists referenced LSD in their songs because of the profound
effect it had on them. In order to produce the psychedelic feel, the artists would
write esoteric lyrics, often describing dreams, visions, or hallucinations as well as
use other techniques such as distorting and delaying the sound, and playing
sections of the song backwards. Another important part of psychedelic rock is the
influence of Indian music. Bands such as The Beatles popularized this technique of
using exotic instruments like the sitar, the tambura, and the tabla in their music
(Psychedelic Rock). The Beatles were a very well known and popular band in the
sixties. The use of LSD and other drugs heavily influenced two of their albums,
Revolver and Sgt. Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Their first experience with the
drug within the band was when John Lennon and George Harrison accidentally took
acid in 1965. After their eye opening incident, Lennon and Harrison decided that Paul

7. The Rights Of Service Delivery
In this paper I will provide an argument, and prove how rights based approaches to
development intersect with the discussion of service delivery proposed by Batley et al.
Batley et al argue that people, if organized, have the power to affect the services
they are provided. They provide a statement from the World Bank as their basis.
Direct accountability of service delivery organizations to users implies that citizens
can both organize demand for services and monitor their performance (p. 279). The
collective action of consumers becomes easier when the service they are being
provided is located in a small territory where users can encounter each other easier (p.
280). This collective action, bottom up approach, to demand and/or ... Show more

494). This intersects with the idea of Batley et al. that customers, if organized, are
able to use their power to demand or modify services provided. Additionally,
according the Batley et al. for citizens and clients to organize, the specific service
they desire to improve need to be in a territory with high density where users can
encounter each other (p. 280). This allows citizens to exchange daily debates about
the lack or poor quality of services. As a consequence, citizens organize around
shared desires to either improve or demand services. One example of the rights talk
approach intersection with Batley et al s service discussion is the work being done
by Shacks Dweller Internationals (S.D.I.), an NGO that works with slum community
members in various countries. This NGO raises the awareness of residents about their
sanitation issues. They provide a platform for community members to fight for their
right to have sanitation, while also providing a space for the residents to have
political inclusiveness in the process. Empowerment, inclusion and collective action
are essential principles to get desired results.
Batley et. al. would argue that slum citizens are able to organize because they are
located in a high density location. As a result they are able to share daily
experiences about either the bad quality or lack of

One historic even that impacted Mexico was the Mexican American war. This war
was brought on due to border disputes between Mexico and America. Even though
Mexico was able to gain quick victories over the United States, eventually the United
States would win the war. This lead to Mexico losing about half of its land and
impacting the country forever. Another historic event that impacted Mexico was
assignation of Francisco Madero. When he was assassinated, Madero was the
president of Mexico. His assassination led Mexico to fall back into Civil War. This
would lead to the eventual one party rule of Mexico and would impact the country
forever.
5.Mexico is a very unique country. Spanish is usually the language spoken, but
other more ancient language that predate the Spanish Conquest of Mexico are still

can trace back their heritage to the Mayans or Aztecs while also people from Spain

people immigrating to it. Most of the population live in towns or even cities. The
most common religion is by far Roman Catholic. In Mexico, children from ages 5 15
must attend school. Life for many Mexicans within the major cities is very
comparable to the United States. In Mexico, it is not uncommon for many

9. The American Justice System Is Corrupt
Do you believe that everyone should be free? Well the thing is that America is really
taking that away from people who have done something wrong even when it s for
petty stuff like writing a bad check. Some stuff is understandable like murder or other
stuff, but some is outrageous. The American prisonpopulation has been absolutely
ridiculous; it s crazy for the U.S. To have such high prison rates. The more you
know about it the more frustrating it gets, and if you ask almost anyone you would
think so too. The only people who might agree are big business s owners like
American Express and Bank of American. The American justice system is corrupt.
In the 80 s, the rising number of people locked up as a result of the War on Drugs
and the wave of privatization that occurred under the Reagan Administration saw
the rise of the for profit industry. Prior to the 80 s, private prisons did not exist is
the US. In a 2011 report by the ACLU, it is claimed that the rise of profit prison
industry is a major contributor to mass incarceration, along with the stuffed state
budgets. Louisiana, for example, has the highest rate of incarceration I in the world
with the majority of its prisoners being privatized prisons, profit facilities. Such
institutions could face economic failure without a steady influx of prisoners. A 2013
Bloomberg report states that in the past decade the number of inmates in for profit
prisons through the U.S. Rose 44 percent. Corporations who operate prisons,
10. Huckleberry Finn And 1984 Comparison Essay
In both George Orwell s 1984 and Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn, the main characters struggle with the preconceived notions of good and bad
in each of their societies and openly challenge these concepts. In 1984, Winston
considers the ethics of his society and initially sees Big Brother as bad, but after
his time spent in Room 101 and the Ministry of Love, he changes his perspective
and now sees Big Brother as good. The ideas of good and bad are simply constructs
of what the government deems right and wrong, just matters of perspective.
Similarly, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck considers the morality
behind helping Jim escape slavery and lying about things and decides that what his
society deems bad doesn t seem so bad after all, and that he must not succumb to the
pressures of the racism that plagues his society. The motif... Show more content on

Winston feels alone in how he remembers parts of the past and knows that the
government has lied many times, but must abide by the party s principles: The
sacred principles of Ingsoc. Newspeak, doublethink, the mutability of the past. He
felt as though he were wandering in the forests of the sea bottom, lost in a
monstrous world where he himself was the monster. He was alone. The past was
dead, (Orwell, 25). Winston s unique perception of Big Brother s regime allows
him to consider the morality of this society and see that the lack of truth and
reality is bad, however his view of Big Brother drastically changes after his time
spent in Room 101 where he ultimately learns to love the government, as Orwell
describes But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He
had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother, (Orwell, 245). This change
in perception of Big Brother s government shows how perspective molds morality,
and when perspective changes, so do the concepts of good and
11. Chemistry Of Glow Sticks Lab Report
Chemistry of Glow Sticks Glow sticks, like many other everyday items, have
chemistry involved with them. Glow sticks were discovered by Edwin Chandross
in the 1960s. He was a young chemist at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey.
Edwin Chandross actually discovered the glow stick on accident. All along he was
just trying to find a general way to explain chemiluminescence. By mixing florescent
lightand hydrogen peroxide with oxalyl chloride, he discovered how to create a
glowing chemical light. From Chandross original discovery a lab team called
American Cyanamid, led by Michael M. Rahurt, created an oxalate ester named
phenyl oxalate to replace the oxalyl chloride. This lab team then sold their new

This certain reaction is a redox reaction or a reduction/oxidation reaction. A redox
reaction is any chemical reaction when a molecule, atom or ion gains or looses an
electron. The chemical reaction for glow sticks is as follows:
H202(AQ) + C14H10O4(AQ.) + DYE C6H2Cl3OH + 2CO2 + EXCITED DYE
Here are a few of the common dyes:
Blue 9,10 diphenylanthracene
Green 9,10 bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene
Yellow 1 chloro 9,10 bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene
Yellow Rubrene
Orange 5,12 bis(phenylethynyl) naphthacene
Orange Rhodamine6G
Red Rhodamine B
This is exactly what happens during the reaction:
1.The hydrogen peroxide oxidizes the phenyl oxalate ester, resulting in a chemical
called phenol and an unstable peroxyacid ester.
2.The unstable peroxyacid ester decomposes, resulting in additional phenol and a
cyclic peroxy compound.
3.The cyclic peroxy compound decomposes to carbon

itself constitute a response to Zeno s arguments against motion?
Democritus is known as one of the founders of atomism in the ancient world, along
with Leucippus (although not much is known of his works). Most of Democritus
work survived through Aristotle s reports. ( http://plato.stanford.edu/entries

(according to Democritus and Leucippus) come in any shape or size. Democritus

two complement each other. Atoms could not exist without the void because there

Following from this, an arrow is not moving or resting at any given moment due to

For years, brain drain issues have been hot potatoes throughout the world. Brain
drain is also academically known as the human capital flight, refers to the large
scale migration of highly educated, skilled and talented people of developing
countries to highly developed countries of the world (Wikipedia, 2016). The brain
drain originated in 1960, when most of human resources like scientists, engineers,
and technologists emigrated from United Kingdom to America (Wikipedia, 2016).
This phenomenon has become a global issue, and it is happening all over the world
in particular for developing countries. China, which is the largest population country
with a remarkable economic growth, is also suffering from severe brain drain
issues. In recent years, China is one of countries facing the highest loss of top
talented people. An official from mainland China s Office of Central Talent Work
Coordination Group noted that estimated 87 percent of talented individuals choose to
stay overseas, particularly in the fields of science and engineering (Zhang, 2013).
China is also considered as the biggest worldwide contributor of emigrants

17. The Human Female, Pregnancy, And The Birth Of One Or
More...
For the human female, pregnancy is a period of time that is celebrated in most
cultures. However, reaching the point where a pregnancy successfully results in the
birth of one or more healthy offspring can take more than one attempt. Wilcox et al.
(1988) provided the conservative estimate that thirty one percent of all pregnancies
were unintentionally lost, with twenty two percent of pregnancies being lost before
they were clinically detected using delicate detection of hCG hormone levels in a
sample the pregnant woman s urine. There are many unique health risks, such as a
woman being diagnosed with endometriosis, that increase a woman s chances of
having a spontaneous abortion(Santulli et al., 2016). But for healthy women without
any observable health risks, for the rate of spontaneous to be abortion this high when
healthcare is arguably the best it has ever been in all human history makes it is worth
examining the possibility that spontaneous abortion might carry an evolutionary
advantage for humans that doesn t make sense in a simply modern context. Before
looking at the potential factors that cause a woman to have a spontaneous abortion, it
would be beneficial to examine the parameters that define an atypical pregnancy. It is
simple to define a typical human pregnancy as the birth of one healthy child per
gestation, so an atypical pregnancy would result in something different. A common
variation that occurs in human pregnancy is the gestation of multiple fetuses.
18. The Invention Of The Gas Turbine Essay
The modern gas turbine was born from two early fields of technology: the steam
turbine and the internal combustion engine. [1] In 1678, Ferdinand Verbiest designed
a horseless carriage that relied on an early steam jet for power and propulsion, this is
thought to be the first self propelled automobile in history. Eventually, inventors
attempted to create an alternative to the steam engineand the idea of the gas turbine
was born. While the claim to inventing the gas turbinehas never truly been resolved,
it can be traced back to as early as the late 1700s. Over the next century and a half
many pioneers have attempted to solve the challenge of the early gas turbine in order
to create a power source that could compete with steam turbines of the day. In truth,
the invention of the modern day industrial gas turbine can be contributed to the
combined works of many inventors.
It is nearly impossible to talk about the history of the modern gas turbine without first
mentioning the late history of the steam turbine. The industrial revolution was born
through the invention of energy conversion devices that could be used to replace the
natural power sources such as wind and water movement. In 1712, Newcomen
created the first functional steam engine. Despite the fact that it was allowing people
to break away from the dependence on wind and water power, this engine had low
efficiency compared to the previous power sources. James Watt improved this with
the addition of a condenser

20. Steps to Survival Essay
The Day in Pat Frank s Alas, Babylon is that one terrifying, unanticipated, and
shocking day when bombs drop on many large and important cities in the United
States. This day puts many people into situations that they are not used to. They
must adapt to the world rather than try to live their regular live which is now
nonexistent. If one is sick, good luck getting medication; scared, good luck finding
food when the supply runs out. The mentally and physically strong survive and the
weak die, that is the rule of life. Randy Bragg was forced into a leading position

the nuclear war ends or until there is no need to travel anymore. The only other
physical preparation varies from a number of things that are essential and
sometimes overlooked by many. The most important steps to survival are those
that are instinct and essential. When the bombs are dropped there is not much
time depending on how far away the bomb is to prepare. Some basic things that
most people do not think of like are opening windows and doors downstairs and
filling up pails and bath tubs with water (Frank 97). Any water after the bombs
would become radiated. This means once one run out of water in the pails and
tubs, one will need to find a way to make the radiated water drinkable, or find an
alternate source of water. In Pat Frank s Alas, Babylon, this alternate source was
the artesian water which smelled like rotten eggs but was better than no water at all
(Frank 151). Another alternate source of water is wells and water tanks, no
contaminated water or particles have a chance to get into the water so it is safe to
drink (Kearny 71). Water is an essential item that many people take for granted in
normal life. Many

The representation of youths in A Clockwork Orange and If....
I will be investigating how youth is represented in the films A clockwork orange
(1972) and If.... (1968) and how the films affected the views of the time and how the
films influenced youths.
I have chosen to investigate these films because of how both films were released at
the time of the relaxation of violence in cinema.
I also chose these films because the similar themes in both films, as both films focus
on youths in society and there place in society, And also how Malcolm McDowells

This is one of the main theories I will be applying to the two films I will be
analysing, IF.... And A Clockwork Orange .
One of the main things I that is important in both films are the costume, in both
film are uniforms seen on many of the characters throughout the film, in a
clockwork orange, set in a dystopian future Britain, Alex and his Droogs wear a
specific uniform and so do other gang type groups of youths in the film, this is
intertextuality of youth at the time were many teenager became part of a group by
the way they dressed with the Mods, Rockers, Teddy boys and later the Punks, it
was very commonly know that wore these types of uniforms. The youthful
characters in if.... Also wear a uniform, the film is set in a boarding school in
England so most of the characters you see, except the teachers wear a school
uniform. In both films there is also a clear difference between the teenage
characters and the character that represent authority in each film, in A Clockwork
Orange when Alex is arrested all of the prisoners wear matching suits and the
prison guards and anyone that has authority over is wearing a suit, this is the a
stereotype a the typical man accepted in society showing how Alex is being
changed to fit this stereotype in the film when is his realised from prison and he s
wearing a suit and so are some of this old friends.
There is also a change in costume in if...., for the final scene, the main protagonists

Comparing Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet versus Arthur Laurents West Side Story
In approximately 1594, William Shakespeare began to write one of the most well
known tragedies in history, Romeo and Juliet. Arguably, no author to date has
matched Shakespeare s skill and beauty in the creation of this work. However,
authors have regurgitated and will continue to regurgitate the theme, star crossed
lovers , for centuries. Martha Duffy remarks in West Side Glory , Slang may change
and violence escalate, but the theme of star crossed city kids has never dated, nor has
its appeal diminished (p. 1). The only viable attempt is the work of modern dramatist
Arthur Laurents. However, Laurents West Side Story originally written as an attempt

Mr. Houghton also comments, Doc, who is obviously intended as a counterpart of
Friar Laurence, takes no comparably active role in the plotting (p.10). Houghton
also agrees, More significantly, the false report that the boy receives of the girl s
death is carried by Anita through the gang as a willful act, not as an unfortuitous
happenstance, such as befell Romeo because of the erroneous information
Balthasar conveyed and the prevention of Friar John s delivery of the secret of
Juliet s feigned death (p.10) The greatest alterations in the plot of West Side Story
occur in the final scene. In Romeo and Juliet, the final moment is as expected from
a Shakespearean tragedy, almost all of the main characters die. However, Houghton
explains that Laurents totally abandons Shakespeare s ideals in his final scene.
Laurents eschews Shakespeare s scheme of the fake death of Juliet induced... to
allow time for a reunion with Romeo according to Houghton. Due to this
abandonment, Laurents must create his own quasi tragic ending. Laurents does
create the desired ending, and with this creation he removes the slaughter and
implants somewhat believable ending. At the end, Laurents Paris and Juliet (Chino
and Maria) are still very much alive, and Tony does not take his own life; he is
killed by Chino. Some suggest this ending to be a mere alteration to please the
Broadway audience. However, Houghton agrees, This can hardly be valid, for a truly

way to conduct and operationalize the topic was to be in a crowded area, so I

people to be walking by or just hanging out. This is because the more people you

What is unconditional love? According, to the children s poet Shel Silverstein it can
be understood through his book The Giving Tree that was written approximately fifty
years ago.
Unconditional love is known as affection without any limitations or without
conditions. Since the book was first published, over 5 million books have been sold
worldwide and over 10 million in print.
Repeatedly throughout this book the boy takes things from the tree, but never gives
back. The tree only wanted the boy to be happy and she would do anything to ensure
the boys happiness at any cost to the tree herself. The tree consistently displayed
examples of unconditional love. The boy would always come back throughout the
years with something else he wanted or needed from the tree. The thesis of this book

Time goes by and the boy returns once more wanting a boat. The tree offered her
trunk to the boy, so he could build his boat that he so desired. Again, the boy takes
her sturdy trunk to build his boat, but does not give back to the tree.
After a long time, the boy returned to visit the tree and surprisingly he did not want
anything except for a place to sit and rest. The tree after giving all she had was still
able to give the boy one last thing, a comfortable stump to rest on. Throughout the
story, the tree consistently showed the boy
unconditional love through her generous acts of kindness, but the boy in return did
not show the same kindness throughout his life. Was is it right for the boy to just

2The hardest thing that I have ever had to hear was that my child died. The
hardest thing that I have ever done is to live everyday since that moment. This is a
famous quote that emphasizes the feelings of parents who have lost a child. It is
frequently said that the grief of bereaved parents is the most intense grief known;
therefore, bereaved parents are at risk of developing mental disorders (Fasse Zech,
2015). In addition to this unimaginable loss, one must address how to process the
loss of
a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, this dual process model indicates that bereaved people oscillate between
these
3two orientations as they deal with the death of a loved one, illustrating how
oscillation
can be a predictor of complicated grief. In relation to the one child policy China, most
people have been restricted to conceive one child. This policy has influenced the time
needed to process grief for bereaved parents in China, with outstanding long term
effects.
For instance, it was reported that 5335 children died or were missing in the massive
and
30. enormously devastating earthquake that occurred in the mountainous central region of
Sichuan province in China on May 12, 2008 (Cao, Jiang, Li, Lo, Li, Dou, 2013). A
great number of parents lost their only child, and because this child was their only
hope.
To lose a child is to lose everything for Chinese parents (Cao, etc., 2013, p.205).
Therefore, the death of a child in China can bring substantial grief than bereaved
parents
from Europe. The loss orientation is an important component within grief work. It
allows
Chinese bereaved parents to focus directly on the loss itself, and on the effects for
their
everyday life. This model predicts that the emotional experiences can wane over time,
and the positive emotions can begin to emerge (Lister, 2008). For instance, it is
reported
negative emotions from the bereaved parents in Sichuan earthquake have moderated

The Financial service authority and other regulatory bodies also have also suffered

32. An Offensive Ad Displaying A Child As A Sexual Object
My project responds to an offensive ad displaying a child as a sexual object. The ad
I found had communicated this sense of pedophilia and that it is acceptable;
However, I disagree with that idea. The message my artwork sends is that pedophilia
is not okay. I started with generating ideas using a words web and asking random
people around me what they thoughtof when they heard specific words. After I made
the web I started to keep a list of any ideas that came to mindfor my art project. The
list started with a lot of ideas of how to include the symbols into my work and
slowly started to become more specific and detailed. I started coming up with ideas
such as dressing a teddy bear up as a sexual object and that be my piece and then I
thought of the ideaof using photography as my media.
My first idea was to use my film camera to photograph a young girl as if I were
stalking her throughout the day, then take the film and put it on a light table for the
audience to view the photos through a magnifying loop. I really enjoyed the
intimacy the viewers would get from being so close to the small photographs on a
lit table, and the idea also really put the audience in the perspective of the pedophile.
Then I realized a ginormous fault in my plan. I was encouraging pedophilia just as
much as the ad was without even realizing it. I needed the girl to gain power
throughout the photo series and overcome the traumatic experience. To do this, I
thought of having her see the pedophile
33. Soul Theory Paper
The goal of the following paper is to convince that soul theory is directly linked to
one s personal identity. This paper will also point out an objection raised to the
theory, and to finish will prove how that objection is incorrect, leaving soul theory
as the only answer to what makes someone who they are. Soul theory argues that
what makes a person who they are is not their physical presence, however, it is a
person s soul that differentiates them from an other living being (Perry, pp 3). The
soul is one s consciousness, their mind, allowing them to be present, experience
and make decisions (Weisberg, January 2016). One s personal identity is directly
linked to one s soul, if one has the same soul they are the same person (Perry, pp 4).
The soul is a non material substance that somehow has a connection with one s
living body (Weisberg, January 2016). When the body dies, the connection
between mind and physical being is broken (Weisberg, January 2016). After death,
the body will rot away and parish. However, one s soul, being a non material
substance, can not be destroyed, and with that, it is possible for a person, rather, a
person s soul and who they are, to live on after death (Weisberg, January... Show

but we would be able to be aware that it has happened when it is over. Everyone has
a distinct personality tied to their soul and would notice a difference in themselves if
that personality changed over night, or, as in the example above, every ten seconds

A. Current Issues: Teacher Merit Pay: States were asked by the U.S. Department
of Education in their 2010 application for Race to the Top monies to include
proposals for implementing teacher merit pay based on classroom performance
(Woessmann, 2011). Merit pay or performance based pay is a bonus for teachers
whose students show above average growth over a set period of time measured by
many different standards that are picked by local and/or state districts. The hope is
that teacher merit pay would have an immediate impact on student achievement.
Teacher merit pay stirs an emotional response from teachers, politicians, and parents.

Cons: Opponents to merit pay believe it would result in a counter productive
narrowing of teacher s goals and competition between educators who otherwise would
promote meaningful collaboration (Ritter, 2010). In most instances, teachers can earn
a pay raise in only two ways: experience and additional education credentials such as
advanced degrees (Cowley, 2011). Cultural expectations for student performance are
high in Asia which may mislead claims that performance pay increases student
achievement (Woessman, 2011). A merit pay system may discourage top scholars
from majoring in education. The evaluation instruments used to measure teachers
performance are typically flawed and do not have strong research to back them. If
we want teachers to support merit pay, we should be considering plans that offer
substantial awards in the 10% to 20% of base salary; however, this is often not the
case. Evaluations of teachers for merit pay are often subjective leading to widely
inaccurate measurements. The first reaction of most teachers is skeptical and
provokes anger (Ritter, 2010). Denver s Professional Compensation for Teachers plan,
the leading national example of performance pay, awards more money for earning
another degree than for demonstrated performance in the classroom (Buck,
35. The Group Of Warrior Women
The group of warrior women known as The Amazons has fascinated people for
centuries with the idea of these women warriors popping up the media we
consume. The first time I heard about these women was when I was reading about
Greek mythology when I was younger. It was amazing to me that the idea of
warrior women was addressed in the myths I was reading. To me the myths were
about usually these buff and quick witted men who were always the ones who were
the central figures of the stories I was reading. I thought these women were amazing
but I only thought of them as fictional characters in the myths. I could never have
dreamed when I was younger that The Amazonsmight be real.
I had no idea when I was younger were based at all on any resemblance of fact
when to me they seemed to only be a fantasy or fictional character put into the
story to move the story along so the main characters could accomplish their goal.
As I found out later in my life the Amazons are most likely way more real than was
previously thought. Theses myths about these amazing warrior women may have
actually been based on fact. I believe that the Amazons were based on fact and not
some myth created to entertain people or teach a lesson. They lived and fought and
were not some wisp of an idea twisted into a myth or only characters in somebody s
mind but were flesh and blood. People today are not the only ones who have been
fascinated with the Amazons. The Amazons were immensely popular with the

36. Music, Music And Music
There is no better way to measure how far society has evolved, but through music. It
has been a vessel used to evince key emotions when words do not seem to be enough.
The dulcet hum of the violin or even the sharp notes from an electric guitar are more
than enough to express those intangible, yet impressionable feelings that cannot be
fully appreciated through words. However, combine words and musictogether and the
composer has a tool that can awaken a thousand souls all at once.
Over the millenniums, music has had a profound ability to capture revolutionary
moments, condemn injustice, and raise hope for change in the future. In particular,
music and singing have played an integral role in inspiring, mobilizing, and giving
voice to civil rights movements around the world.
The freedom songs are playing an active and vital role in our struggle, said Martin
Luther King, Jr, during the Albany Movement. They give the people new courage
and a sense of unity. I think they keep alive a faith, a radiant hope, in the future,
particularly in our most trying hours . Or as Folk Singer Phil Ochs once said, one
good song with a message is capable of bringing across a point more deeply to more
people than a thousand rallies.
However, fast track to the modern era, and more infrequent are the antiwar sentiments

however, the decision on whether to breastfeed or formula feed an infant seems to

formula feeding, the benefits of breastfeedingare substantial for both mother and

In fact, it s free. Components such as nursing pads, nursing bras, and breast pumps
are not necessities and are completely optional. Therefore, no materials are
required. Moms who choose not to obtain these particular items will save
hundreds, (even thousands) of dollars each year. Nevertheless, formula feeding is
highway robbery. Formula feeding requires materials such as bottles, nipples, and
sterilizing bags which are fundamental in order to ensure that such materials are
aseptic for the baby. KidsHealth voices that, During the first year of life, the cost
of basic formula can run about $1,500.00, depending on the brand of formula
(KidsHealth). Who wouldn t mind having an extra $1,500.00 in their bank
account? If that wasn t enough, the United States Department of Agriculture states
that A minimum of $3.6 billion would be saved if breastfeeding were increased
from current levels (64 percent in hospital, 29 percent at 6 months) to those
recommended by the U.S. Surgeon General (75 and 50 percent) (USDA). Aware
that breastfed infants are collecting antibodies and other healthy nutrients so they
are less likely to become sick, formula fed infants are at jeopardy for developing
illnesses. Frequent cases of illnesses can lead to recurring doctor visits. Moreover,
[recurring doctor visits can lead to an abundance of co pays and prescriptions]
(KidsHealth). As a result, moms pay more when they formula feed. Electing to

On May 24, 1856, John Brown and his small army of men raided Lawrence, Kansas,
killing five unsuspecting civilians. The attack ended in the capture and hanging of
Brown, as the action was seen as treasonous. Since this event, debate has incessantly
surrounded the figure due to the violence and morality of the situation. Despite the
lives lost, John Brownwas a hero because of the reasoning of the raid and the lack of
alternative options.
The event, known as the Pottawatomie Massacre, is one of honorableness since it
was enacted to promote the liberty of the real victims of the time, the slaves. To only
acknowledge the five civilians as the targets would be to ignore the history of deaths

When removed from social theory, generational nicknames have an uncanny

Naming them before we learn their true character traits is tantamount to label a piece

youngest generation is already rich with names, yet so poorly understood as a cohort
of more than tiny consumers. Over the last few years at least half a dozen

40. My Trip To Mackinaw Island-Personal Narrative
It was last summer around July when my family and I woke up around 7:00 A.M
to drive to Mackinaw Island. Preparing for this trip was extremely hectic because we
had to pack all of our clothes and food that we wanted for the car ride. We were all in
the car around 7:45 with all of our things packed. We locked all the doors up and
turn all the lights off. The drive took us about 4 hours to get to St. Ignace. My sisters
and I watched a movie during the car ride, read and did homework so that we were
occupied during the long car ride. My favorite part when we were driving was
probably when we went across the Mackinaw Bridge because, it felt like our car
was driving on the bright blue lake which was cool. My mom was frightened to look

My older sister Peyton did not want to go on the zipline because she had already
done it before when she went to 6th grade camp. My Dad went up desk and paid
for two tickets, one for me and one for my sister Lauryn. First we had to step
through a harness and buckle it around our waste. Next, we had to put on a red
helmet that had the company s logo and a strap to put around our neck. Once all of
our safety gear was on we moved to the tall platform. I could hear my heart starting
to pound out of my chest. I was beginning to have second thoughts. I could feel my
hair blowing in the wind. It was time for me to go. The man pushed me off the
platform. Suddenly my feet were dangling in mid air. I felt like I was flying in the
sky. Beneath us were people playing mini golf. I was wondering what would
happen if I fell down, but I realized that I was going to be safe and that it would be
unrealistic. Once we reached the end of the zip line we had to walk all the way
back to where we started. We went on the zipline again because my parents got the
tickets where you got to go two times. After that, we thanked our parent because we
knew that this was something that we were going to remember. My sister Peyton
also regretted not going on the ride because she saw how much fun we really had.
This is a time where my sister and I had the courage to do something that most
people don t get a chance to do at a
41. Capacity Planning Using Linear Programming
Company R s Strategic Capacity Planning
Using Mixed Integer Linear Programming
ABSTRACT
Company R is experiencing 2.07 more days in producing a certain line of hotdogs.
Thus, incurring 51.75% more cost of Php 5, 764. 62 per week.
Through work sampling and time study, it was found out that the sealing section of
the packaging line is the bottle neck activity with a standard processing time of 2.86
min/kg. Additional machine is needed.
Employing strategic capacity planning through formulation of mixed integer linear
programming model, to meet the annual demand, the resulting optimal machine
combination was 3: Two single chamber floor model vacuum sealers and one double
chamber floor model vacuum sealer. This gives the maximum net ... Show more

Furthermore, it is desired to formulate a mixed integer linear programming model that
finds the optimal combination of machines and maximizes the net present value of
such project subject to budget, demand, and available machines constraints.
V. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT To maximize the impact of the project, the study
focused on the hotdog line that comprises almost 73% of the demand being
processed every week. Only the packaging line of the hotdog process was dealt
with. Data collected were from the outputs of January 2011 to February 2011.
Future demands for all hotdog lines were gathered. The company set policies for
acquiring and maintaining equipment were also considered. VI. REVIEW OF
RELATED WORKS AND LITERATURE
According to Anderson et al, linear programming framework has served many
applications in a wide variety of production, finance, marketing, and distribution
problems. The authors added that linear programming models can help managers in
efficiently maximizing profits or minimizing costs when faced with constrained
resource allocation decisions.
Several applications of linear programming in the business are scheduling,
transportation, managerial and cost accounting. Profit oriented companies greatly
evaluate capital investments they are to shelf out, since miscalculations will incur
great damage to them and so the more efficient LP models are used. Most

42. Exposure Of Radiation Exposure On Medical Practitioners
Exposure to ionizing radiation is of concern to many medical practitioners. The risks
of radiation exposure are well documented within the scientific literature and include
cataract formation, skin cancer, thyroid disease and leukaemia.1 Medical staff who
work in the operating theatre are a sizable population potentially at risk for these
complications.2 With advances in medical technology in past decades and an ongoing
trend towards minimally invasive techniques, there has been a significant increase in
the use of fluoroscopy.3 5 During fluoroscopic procedures staff are exposed to both
direct and scattered radiation. Procedures that require long fluoroscopic screening
times, such as interventional radiology, cardiology and orthopaedic surgery, place the
proceduralist at high risk of radiation exposure. Orthopaedic surgeons must often
remain close to the x raybeam during procedures and cannot use distance to reduce
radiation exposure.
In recent years, there is a rising alertness concerning the harmful effects of
exposure of long term low dose irradiation. In 2005 a report by Mastrangelo et al
identified orthopaedic surgeons as having an increased cancer risk.6 In 2010 Chou
et al reported that the prevalence of cancer within female orthopaedic surgeons was
1.9 fold greater than that of women in the general US population.7,8 Specific
orthopaedic procedures such as closed intramedullary nailing of the femur are
responsible for a high level of scattered radiation

I have answered all the questions; they are not in order. 1. In the early 19th century,
farmers saw the need to cooperate with government regulation. They started to
believe the government could solve their economic problems if they cooperated as
part of the system. When once they were known as the epitome of the American
dream, independent, and self sufficient, they now submitted to government
regulation. This decision was made in the 1896 elections. As a result of this
transition, many children of farmers left and found work in the city. When
generations past would have stayed on the farm their whole lives, a new window of
opportunity was opening up as the market expanded. 2. Although both the rurals and
urbans began to favor consumption... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also around this time that they began to become involved in lobbying for
economic change. Facets they desired to change were the railroad system and
currency shortage. They believed the railroad system was corrupt due to their fares.
Some citizens were charged more than others, and the way railroad companies
charged for the transportation of goods were oftentimes fraudulent. As the economy
grew, the amount of currency circulating did not. This led to a shortage of money,
which eventually led to inflation. Through several acts, the Grange was able to cut
down railroad costs by enforcing stricter regulations, but they failed in providing a
solution to the increasing

During World War II there were many different medicines/drugs to help revitalize
wounded soldiers. During the war time many medicines were still being discovered to
help fight infections, pain, blood loss and more. There are four different medicines
/drugs that were the top most important ones; Prontosil, Atabrine, Plasma, and
Morphine.
Gerhard Johannes Paul Domagk was a German biochemist. His research with
antibacterial chemicals resulted in the discovery of many new drugs that provided
the first most effective treatments for pneumonia, meningitis, and other bacterial
diseases. This research of Domagk s involved analyzing thousands of chemicals for
their antibacterial properties. In 1932 he tested Prontosil which is a red dye. It had no
antibacterial properties, but when German Biochemist, Domagk, slightly changed the
chemical makeup, it showed a tremendous ability to fight the infections in mice. The
infections were caused by streptococcal bacteria, also known as, strep. He then tested
the drug on his daughter, she was near death from a strep infection and wasn t
responding to any of the other treatments. She surprisingly made a complete recovery.

The customer is always right! And this is no different in my opinion, without
customers there are no sales and no Lululemon. However, the strategy of engaging
with the customers of their products by being knowledgeable of their products in
store, customer demands are met. New products innovation, keeps Lululemon
customers coming back and purchasing the high quality products. Lululemon even
offers to hem to length of the pants you purchase at no additional cost, and they ll
ship it to you! Customers satisfied.
The substitutes for Lululemon customers are knock off yoga pants that do not last,
are not as comfortable and not durable; or not to do yoga! Even consumers who want
to purchase Lululemon products, but cannot afford it, don t purchase the products.

why not just buy
46. The Input Learner Learners Forward Throughout...
Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION
Input is what drives language acquisition ... Without input, language acquisition
cannot happen because it contains the linguistic information, or data, needed for a
learner s second language system to develop over time (p. 627). ... In order to
acquire a language successfully, learners must connect (or map) a wide range of
linguistic forms to their meanings (Barcroft Wong, p. 635).
The Research Problem The question of what in the input guides learners forward
throughout interlanguage development (Young Scholten Piske, 2009) has fueled
empirical investigations in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) for decades. Such
interest over the strength of second language (L2) input gets transpired into a variety

Ellis, 2002). In contrast, the extent to which input exposure may qualify as
meaningful has remained somewhat an under explored territory until recently .
Despite the surge of theoretical (e.g., Andersen, 1983) and empirical (e.g., Shirai
Andersen, 1991) research on how meaning gets encoded through learners use of L2
forms on the output end, there exist significantly fewer such studies on the input end.
One plausible explanation for this discrepancy is: L2 input is often assumed to
mirror the target language in every way by default, including the discourse contexts
and distributional patterns involved. Whether this holds true empirically, and if so,
to what degree, is still an open question. How does meaning get encoded through L2
forms in the input, and where does frequency of occurrence come into the picture?
More importantly, how might meaning (in)consistencies in the input and the
corresponding frequency effects be gauged collectively? Given the weight of
meaning in determining L2 input strength, I will first review how conception over
the role of meaning in L2 acquisition has evolved over the years, focusing on how it
relates to L2 forms in the input where appropriate. Ultimately, it will be shown that
meaning impacts the use of L2 forms at both the local level of morphosyntax, as well
as the more global level of discourse functions. An adequate account

America
The Spanish empire in the Americas faced huge political, social and economic
problems in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The empire was stretched to
its limit politically and socially with the threat of an uprising from the slave
population in its empire. The economy also played a major role and the outlook
was just as bleak for Spain with the American colonies drifting towards
independence. Spain did not seem able to cope with its empire and had found itself
in trouble with regards to mining which was at the centre of political and social
systems, the military and the empire s economic activity. By 1600, mining which
was integral to Spain s prosperity and growth, was under a huge amount of pressure.

Although the economy of the Americas relied heavily on mining there was also a
large emphasis on agricultural development and manufacturing in the sixteenth and
seventeenth centuries. However, the development of agricultural during these two
centuries led to further economic turmoil within the Americas. The agricultural
system was changed from the traditional Indian subsistence agriculture to commercial
crops and plantations. This change in agriculture led to the formation of latifundios
and minifundios which were not as self sufficient as the traditional Indian
subsistence farming. The sugar boom meant that the agricultural system in place led
to a loss of Indian land and water rights. Venezuela became the centre of the
Americas agricultural economy, due to its success of farming cacao in the central
valleys and also due to its livestock. However, the success of its livestock meant that
large and intrusive estancias or ranches were constructed. This was especially true in
the Pampas region of South America, which brought in development of a previously
undeveloped and unspoilt region.
The Americas move towards independence was slowly picking up pace as a result of
its success in manufacturing. For example, wine within the Americas was now

There is yet another disadvantage of the reservation system. The thought behind
reservation was to give everyone equal opportunities and reduce the social gap
between people caused by having different opportunities and responsibility in the
society. But it seems that they may be reinforcing the caste divisions.
Reservation enhances the identity politics and gives castes and ethnicity more
importance in the Indian society. In a country with such a huge diversity in religions,
beliefs and traditions, caste based reservations seem to be another way of fragmenting
the nation instead of bringing people together. (fokusindia.no)(Caste based

In this way, reservation system brutally perpetuates the caste system,a system which
everyone feels we need to do away with for better progress and development.

49. Soil Pollution
Presently, most cars run on gasoline and thus gas stations are vital to our everyday
life. In urban cities, gas stations are found in just about every other corner. It has
already been documented that burning gasoline produces toxic fumes that contributes
to air pollution, global warming, and many health concerns. Soil surrounding a gas
station can also be contaminated with gasoline and generate soil pollution. In
comparison with air, soil is more complex in composition and function. It functions
as a sink for pollutants, as a filter which delays the passage of chemicals to
groundwater, and as a bioreactor for organic life. Just as gas is a source of fuel for
cars, soil is an essential component of the earth s ecosystem. It serves as a home to
many microbes and provides the necessary nutrients to plants that dwell in it. The
pondus hyrdogenii (pH) indicates a solution s acidity and alkalinity. A pH value of 7
is considered neutral. A solution with a pH between 0 to 7 is acid and one between
7 to 14 is alkaline. Most biological organisms including plants have a very narrow
range of pH values in which environmental substrates can survive. Plants prefer acidic
substances. This leads to the following questions: Are gas stations in El Paso, Texas a
contributing factor to soil contamination?
Do Gas Stations Cause Soil Contamination?
Soil around the world is a habitat for numerous plants and animals. However, every
day, certain patches of soil are perhaps being

51. A Research Study On Meat Consumption
Research question (modified):
Abstract:
In the next few decades, meat consumption is expected to increase. Currently, U.S is
the highest meat consuming nation in the world. In order to produce meat, livestock
has to be raised, fed, and slaughtered. At the moment, livestock production is
responsible for contributing to the negative environmental effects because livestock
production results in greenhouse gas emissions, livestock production requires a lot of
water, and livestock production takes up a lot of agricultural land. One way to
minimize the environmental damages of livestock production is to replace regular
meat with cultured meat. Studies that compared the environmental impact of cultured
meat to the environmental impact of regular meat were analyzed. The findings of
few scholars who objected to the idea of the cultured meat were also studied. Current
research suggests that large scale production of cultured meat might not be feasible.
Also, cultured meat may not be nutritionally on par with regular meat and may pose
health risks. To conclude, although there are environmental benefits that can spring
up from replacing regular meat with cultured meat, the complications and the
disadvantages involved with the science and the production of cultured meat
outweigh the potential environmental advantages.

52. What Is The Ghost In Hamlet
The presentation is about some instructions that Hamlet s father, the ghost, gives to
Hamlet. As Hamlet mentions in the play, he believes that humans are afraid of death
for the reason that they do not know what will happen after that since no one has ever
returned from death to specify the circumstances that human beings may encounter
after they die.
In the presentation, however, the ghost believes that what may happen after death is
related to what you do throughout your life. Therefore, he encourages Hamlet to
remain silent and not to get revenge on Claudius for the reason that seeking the
revenge may lead Hamlet to indecision about how or when to do that. Moreover, by
avoiding the revenge, Claudius will ultimately discover how terrible his deed was;
thus, it is better to revenge his uncle by letting him regret what he has done other
than killing him. When Ophelia gives Claudius a rue, she tries to make him feel
sorry about marrying his dead brother s wife; even though she seems to be mad. For
that reason, the ghost mentions that rue will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the presentation, the ghost mentions that getting revenge on Claudius is Hamlet s
own choice to make, and he warns Hamlet about what will happen to him if he
avoids remaining silent. In the play, however, the ghost encourages Hamlet to get the
revenge. Ultimately, these two ideas convey the theme of indecision, both in the play
and in the presentation. Since the both sides of this decision that Hamlet should
make are extremely controversial, Hamlet becomes indecisive about his purpose. If
he remains silent, Claudius and Gertrude may become more corrupted, or they may
regret what they did, which may put an end to their corruption. However, if Hamlet
plans to kill Claudius, it would alleviate Hamlet s suffering, but it could also happen
that everyone in the story would die, and no one would gain anything
53. Is Liz Liable for Assault or Murder
When assessing whether Liz is liable for assault, it is necessary to give reference to
her unlawful conduct, and evaluate whether her conduct was intentional. To prove
assault, three factors have to be visible. These include: the act was one of force,
there was intention and the act was unlawful. We are assuming unlawfulness and
thus we will concentrate on omission and voluntariness. Conduct should be
voluntary in order for criminal liability to follow . It is evident that Liz was
suffering from hypoglycaemia, this is classified as sane automatism, which is a
defence for voluntariness. Liz had been fasting for two days (actus reus) and the
accident happened on the night of the second (mens rea) this results in Liz not being
liable for assault regarding the principle of contemporaneity because the actus reus
and mens rea didn t occur at the same time. However antecedent liability is an
opposing principle which states that the actus reus and mens rea don t have to occur
at the same time. The above two mentioned principles are examples of crystalized
categories. Thus it s necessary to prove that Liz is a reasonable person, who has
participated in fasting throughout her life and has subsequently only fainted twice,
thus neither the element of negligence, or the element of intention are evident due to
the contemporaneity principle. Liz couldn t have foreseen that she would faint and
have an accident, and therefore not liable for assault. Word Count: 259 Question B In

most religions, there are special times and places to take part in spiritual events,
which are often called rituals. Rituals that take place in Peyotism can vary widely.
Factors that contribute to how ceremonies are run can include on the region of the

During the movie Flubber, I made connections to this year s physical science class.
The following topics are discussed in this essay, polymers, physical properties,
radiation, renewable energy, other types of energy, flight, and real world
possibilities. In the beginning of the movie, it talks about a propulsive polymer ,
and we learned about polymers in chapter twenty four. We learned that a polymer
is a substance that has a molecular structure consisting of a large number of similar
units bonded together called monomers. These monomers must have been in a
perfect combination to have these unique properties that make flubber seem to be
a fantasy object. The professor could modify these monomers to make the flubber
have many other properties. The substance also has unlimited uses and
possibilities, because it can be applied anywhere easily. The properties of flubber
are ductile, moldable, foldable, can phase shift, ticklish, gullible, and elastic. It
also says it s an elastomer which is a natural or synthetic polymer having elastic
properties, such as rubber. Flubber is also green. The temperature in which the
flubber was formed may have affected the color of the substance. When making
flubber the professor used his hair as a catalyst, which gave flubber human like
properties. The professor made new life, which rewrites all the laws of physics. This
year we learned about radiation and it was inferred that flubber is very reactive to
gamma radiation. We know this,
