#4 VANISHING POINT PROJECT
WHAT IS A VANISHING POINT?
-The point at which a thing
disappears or ceases to exist.
• Often found in long roads and tall buildings
• Prominent leading line (directs your eyes).
• It’s also called perspective in art.
THIS IS ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE ….ONE VANISHING POINT
2 point perspective = 2 vanishing points
3 point perspective = 3 vanishing points
• What’s this? 1, 2, or 3 point perspective?
1 point
• SO, GET INVENTIVE! THERE’S ALWAYS A NEW PERSPECTIVE
LESS obvious things –
shadows or parts of objects
• Will you capture large or a small depth of
field?
small depth of field
large depth of field
• You can still capture vanishing points with
close-ups & shallow depth
Where are the vanishing points in
these two photos?
• Yet, large depth of field allows for more of
the frame to be seen – more than just the
subject.
