David Geffen Hall Concert Report
On the 27th of April, I attended an open rehearsal for the New York Philharmonic at the David Geffen
at Lincoln Center. Going to the David Geffen Hall for the first time, I came with high expectations on
the size of the place. The venue wasn t as big as I thought it would be, but it was big enough for the
standard orchestra size. The setting of the place as I entered was quiet and serene, with the spotlight on
the orchestra and conductor Alan Gilbert. In order to fully enjoy the performance no phones or
speaking were allowed when they performance went on. The audience followed this rule with
conviction, and made it easier for a new comer like me to try to understand the pieces that were being
played. One thing that impressed me with my fellow audience members was that fact that they were
able to identify the pieces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I enjoyed this because it was easier to understand and made more sense. Compared to Apres by Franck
Krawczyk which was came off as a collection of random sounds the Brahms s piece flowed together
nicely and felt more uniformed. Symphony No.2 in D major, Op 73 by Johannes Brahms is an
estimated 46 minute piece that is composed of four movements. The first movement is in Allegro non
troppo, the second movement Adagio non troppo, the third movement Allegretto grazioso and the
fourth movement Allegro con spirito. The music period the symphony is from the Romantic era.
Although my program didn t outright state what the piece was about, it did gave off a nature like vibe.
The nature vibe I got from the piece is a prime aspect of Romantic music, which was all about nature
and the supernatural. As mentioned in my program a key feature of Brahms Symphony No.2 in D
major, Op 73 is its similarity to Beethoven s Symphony no.6 in F major, Op 68 (Pastoral Symphony).
Both works give off a feeling of nature. However Beethoven s piece lets the audience know what it is

A Brief Note On Death By Social Media
Death by social media. Social media, for most of world, was introduced with MySpace. They could
reconnect with people they had lost touch with over the years and really share their day to day lives
with each other. Social media was the beginning of a new era. As social media grew and continues to
grow today the world is reaping the benefits. With many websites and smart phone apps, it is an
important communication tool used all over the world. However beneficial, social media is extremely
flawed. The world is seeing a loss in productivity and vital communication skills needed for day to
day life. People all over the world are less productive since social media hit the big time. Lost
productivity effects their personal lives, work lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has happened to me one too many times at home. Instead of taking care of the pool or the lawn I
was too busy telling people that I was going to do it. Most people, including myself, will say they are
going to do something, wait for a bit of recognition and that gratification is enough to make them feel
as good as if they had done the activity. They end up feeling great about their hard work but in reality
none of the work has been done. Social media is used for just about everything so it is no surprise it is
seen in the work place. Many businesses use social media to promote their work and bring in revenue.
But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the envelope and see what
they can get away with. I once worked in a factory, in an area by myself and I knew I could have my
cell phone out. With that came the temptation to socialize, via social networking. It was so bad at one
point that I spent over an hour using social media without realizing. This type of behavior led to
questions as to why my work was not done in a timely manner. Companies are losing money and
valuable time because of the craze that is social media. Education is also suffering because of social
media. Students everywhere, especially the younger generations, are extremely involved with social
networking. When I was in high school I was involved in about twelve

Affordable Health Care Act 2014
The Affordable Health Care Act, worldly known as Obamacare , went into action on January 1, 2014
changing the rules for health insurance companies, business, and common people. Health care
companies are no longer able to turn down anyone that has pre existing health conditions and are not
allowed to discriminate or charge higher rates for people of a certain gender. Also, insurance
companies are not able to establish annual spending caps on essential health benefits. However, along
with all the good qualities come the bad. Obamacare required most individuals to secure health
insurance (Levy). Citizens deciding not to buy insurance in 2014 will be charged an annual penalty

The Indian Stock Broking Industry
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of the report is to primarily analyze the Indian stock broking industry and the various
forces which affect the competitive position of firms within the industry. A three phase analysis is
carried out in which the first phase involves detailed research about the history of stock markets in
India, the evolution of capital markets over the years during pre independence era and later stages
after independence. Important historical events which had a significant effect on the capital market
industry as a whole were analyzed. A comprehensive study on macroeconomic policies which were
brought about by the then Indian government in 1991 and their impact on the stock market and stock
broking industry is carried out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
The stock market in India is one of the efficient and dynamic markets for securities in Asia. Shares
trading market started growing in India from 19th century when a bunch of stock brokers in Bombay
formed Native Share and Stockbrokers Association in 1875. This association played a key role in
devising the codes of conduct in stock broking industry and helped in mobilizing capital for
investment in various corporate companies. It was later known as Bombay Stock Exchange, the oldest
stock exchange of Asia. BSE National Index was launched by January 1989 and consisted of 100
stocks listed at 5 major exchanges in India. After liberalization of Indian economy, stock brokerage
has become the center point of all activities related to investment driven by increasing globalization.
SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India), the body which regulates the activities in capital
markets across the country brought in various reforms to ensure greater transparency in securities
trading and investment in India. With the backdrop of these reforms, Indian stock markets have
undergone tremendous improvements over the last two decades. Stock broking industry has grown as
one of the most sought and vibrant industries in India. As per IRCA, the

Analysis Of Blake Pierce s Cause To Kill, A Murder Mystery
Cause to Kill, a murder mystery written by Blake Pierce is a story about Avery Black, a homicide
investigator, and her struggle to complete and solve her first murder case. Avery Black is written to be
both passive and emotionally stable, and knowing Avery s past and current state of being, this is seen
to be untrue. If Pierce used more depth, detail and information, Avery s character could be greatly
developed. The way Avery carries herself, her past, and her present, is strong and powerful. Knowing
specific details about Avery s reactions and thoughts to specific people and powers would better help
Avery Blake live outside the book.
The way Pierce describes Avery s interactions with other people makes her seem passive and an easy
target for taunts, but knowing her past, the readers know this to be false. As the book begins, Avery is
being introduced by Captain Mike O Malley: Last but not least, He said in his thick accent, I d like to
welcome Avery Black to Homicide Squad. A few perfunctory claps filled the room, which otherwise
remained embarrassingly silent (Pierce 20). This dialogue does not take Avery s actions and feelings
into accountability. If these aspects were shown and developed, it could clue the reader in on Avery s
personality and mind. Avery Black, a previous defense attorney, had her life crumble due to a mistake
in the field, and even though everything in her life is shattered, she somehow remains stable. Knowing
this promotion to the Homicide Squad is a large risk for all parties involved, one person in such a
position would most certainly unable to keep their cool. Officer Ramirez was the only officer who
would work with Avery, and the response of bystanding officers shows how Avery s normal treatment
will be. Go get her tiger. Break her in right. Avery shook her head Nice, she said (Pierce 30). Avery s
response is not the one expected, and she lets the comments slide. Knowing the position she was in
and how she was treated, it is a surprise that a strong female protagonist like Avery would let foolish
men be this way to her. The author does not give the readers much insight to how Avery had taken
their actions, therefore lacking the needed character development The issue at

Title: Transport Across the Plasma Membrane
Introduction
1. Briefly describe each of the following plasma membrane functions.
a. importing needed for continuation, of the metabolic processes of the cell. It is also needed for
normal cell function. (example: taking in organic molecules and salts).
b. exporting sends molecules out of the cell after they are created (example: cell secretions).
c. communicating when a substance from one cell generatesthe transport of chemicals across the
plasma membrane of another cell. This may make action potential possible.
Types of Transport

The water concentration inside the cell is higher so the direction of osmosis will be away from the cell
and water leaves the cell.
Primary Active Transport
8. Describe primary active transport mechanisms using the sodium potassium pump as an example.
A membrane pump used to maintain electrochemical gradients in neurons. Requires ATP.
Secondary Active Transport 9. a. Define secondary active transport. Uses previously fixed gradient of
Na+ or hydrogen ions to move other chemicals.
b. How does secondary active transport maintain low calcium concentrations in the cytosol and/or
absorption of nutrients into cell?
In many cells antiporters move calcium out of the cell while sodium drifts in. This sustains the low
calcium concentration in the cytosol.
Endocytosis
10. Contrast each of the following types of endocytosis and describe how each is used by cells.
Phagocytosis A familiar form of endocytosis. It is known as the eating cell. It helps keep the body safe
against disease. Once the pseudopod surrounds particulate matter such as bacteria it pinches off into a
vesicle. The vesicle binds with a lysosome where the bacteria will be

Examples Of Foolishness In King Lear
In Shakespeare s King Lear the relationship between wisdom and foolishness is explored through the
characters Lear and Gloucester. Throughout the play, both characters were foolish based on their
decisions, and after losing everything they had, they came to see how inappropriately they acted.
Through this realization they gained wisdom by taking responsibility for their actions, and by making
amends with those they had let down. In this play, Shakespeare demonstrates how gaining this insight
can be difficult, heartbreaking, and often times one may end up with nothing but a new found wisdom.
The beginning of these characters journey to insight must unfortunately start with foolishness. The
play starts with King Lear asking his 3 daughters how much they love him. Whoever loves him the
most will receive the biggest piece of land that he plans to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Lear asks his youngest daughter, Cordelia the same question, she says, Unhappy that I am, I
cannot heave/ My heart into my mouth: I love your majesty/ According to my bond; no more nor less.

sincerity of Cordelia s gesture or the genuine words she has spoken, is only offended and enraged that
she did not flatter his ego like her sisters. Lear disowns Cordelia and decides to split his kingdom
between selfish sisters Regan and Goneril. This decision is the snowball that keeps on rolling;
growing into a bigger and bigger mess throughout the story. King Lear was idiotic in not analyzing the
situation. He could not see that Cordelia was the only daughter that truly loved him and that Regan
and Goneril only loved what he had to give them. Lear s second foolish decision was physically
giving his land to Regan and Goneril. Since Lear couldn t see how selfish his daughters were in their
answers, he gave all his land and all his power to them. Lear also had people bring to his

Vada Sultenfuss In My Girl
The movie I have chosen to explore is My Girl. The main character, Vada Sultenfuss, is an 11 year old
girl experiencing middle childhood with her best friend, Thomas J (Zieff, 1991). This paper will cover
the following points, identity and self esteem, gender roles and sexuality, and dealing with death in
middle childhood.
Identity and self esteem
According to Erik Erikson s eight stages of grief, the main character is in stage four, industry versus
inferiority. Between the ages of five and twelve, industry versus inferiority occurs. During this time if
the child cannot develop a specific skill he/she feels society is demanding then the probability of
experiencing feelings of inferiority is highly likely (Sigelman and Rider, 2015).
Vada announces she wants to become a writer when she grows up. She ... Show more content on

Loved ones will experience these five stages after a death. The five stages are denial, anger,
bargaining, depression, and acceptance. There is not a set amount of time for any stage, a stage may be
skipped or repeated, and a person may stay suspended in one stage (Sigelman and Rider, 2015). Vada
experiences death twice during the movie, with her mother and her best friend.
Vada s mother died from complications of giving birth to Vada. Vada is stuck in the stage of
depression because she believes she is at fault for her mother s death. Through the first half of the
movie, Vada is so sure she is dying that she has become a hypochondriac. She takes herself to the
doctor to let him know she is dying. She lays on the floor writhing in false pain and dying. Vada feels
so guilty about causing her mother s death, that she feels she needs to be punished. The ultimate
punishment for Vada would be her own death. The expression of her feelings and her father s
willingness to listen and explain might have propelled Vada through the stages and on to

inquiries about.
Store #1: For this assignment, I visited my local Korean/Chinese supermarket. The store is called
Nations Fresh Food, located at 7600 Weston Rd, Woodbridge between HWY 7 and Weston. The store
is an independent supermarket; it has a food court, grocery area, and catering.
I inquired about the products that are not available at other supermarkets such as Korean Pears,
Korean treats, and Korean takeout. I asked the store employees if these products can be found in
mainstream grocery stores such as Costco, Walmart, and No frills.
Store #2: I then visited Empress Dollar Convenience to fax a document. The store is located at 2563

Describe the owner/manager s experience with dealing with each supplier. What service level do the
vendors provide and how do they differ?
Store #1: Since Nations Fresh Food is a grocery store, they rely on multiple suppliers to operate the
store as it should be run. Thus, they have different experiences dealing with each vendor. For example,
Korean pears require a personal relationship with pear suppliers in Korea.
According to the produce manager, National Fresh food purchases their pears from a vendor in China
over the phone or online. The pear vendor can only ship products in the fall and spring because that is
when the pears are in season. Also, the produce manager said that the goods arrive on time and in
good condition and that they receive a refund if the products are damaged.
Moreover, the vendor deliveries that product to the store in a pre designed box with the product name
and logo on it. The pears are sold in boxes of 12 and 24. This type of packaging is different from other
produce suppliers because the pears come pre packaged and ready to sell as is unlike other providers.
For example, bananas are packaged in boxes that have to be opened by staff and placed on the

The Reality as Opposed to the Disney Versions of Snow...
Presently, many books and fairytales are converted movies and often, producers alters the original
tales to grasp the attention of a large audience. However, some of these interpretations hide the
primary interpretation. The original interpretations of the Disney classics Snow White and Sleeping
Beauty are greatly reinvented from the original fairytales Sun, Moon, and Talia and Snow White and
the Seven Dwarfs because of the brutal nature of the treatment women in these original forms.
Although there are differences in certain aspects from the original tales to the movies, there are many
issues that are influential to the young girls who are still watching the Disney version. I realize this

Although Talia is really dead, her beauty is perpetual. He immediately raped her because of her
irresistible beauty. Doesn t that show that princes can use women, especially when they are
vulnerable? The King is infatuated with Talia who is passive. After he is finished pleasuring himself
with Talia, he leaves. The King disposes of Talia after is done using her. The lesson once can take

that the King had lifted the curse with his action. Talia becomes pregnant and when one of the twins

The Commercial Sexual Exploitation Of Children
The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children proposed an international commitment to prevent
the exploitation of children in pornography, trafficking, prostitution, and other crimes of a sexual
nature. They suggested the commitment in late 2001, and they committed to improving local, regional,
national, and international laws to help combat sexual crimes against minor children. They developed
laws to coordinate agencies and push for laws that help prosecute anyone conducting illegal activities
against children. The cooperation of all countries that accepted the commitment made it easier for law
enforcement to find, track, and eventually prosecute persons who exploit child for the before
mentioned crimes. The CSEC conducted studies on different

The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in...
The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in Germany
The reformation was a movement that fundamentally challenged the authority of the Roman Catholic
Church. The role of the clergy was undermined and the relationships between national countries and
the Roman Catholic Church were threatened.
The renaissance began in Italy during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries through patronage and the
flourishing society, and Rome achieved cultural prominence. It later spread throughout Europe and
began a rediscovery of classical thoughts and influenced painters, such as Raphael and Michelangelo,
sculptors such as Donatello and writers, such as Johann Reuchlin, Ulrich Von Hutten and Desiderius ...

This was significant, as the church had seen itself as the sole interpreter of the bible; this made the
bible the main authority for religious belief and not the church. The circulation of literature also meant
that much of the laity had access to knowledge and so become literate and consequentially the
Catholic Church s monopoly over education and communicating was broken up.
Martin Luther, a scholar and Augustian Friar, had also been influenced by the renaissance and
humanism and had developed his own ideas about salvation, the treasury of merits and the issues
taught by the Roman Catholic Church. His ideas were based upon the scriptures, sola scriptura, as
these were the only things that were beyond fallibility, he believed that original texts should also be
studied. Luther also believed that it was by man s own faith that he could achieve eternal salvation,
sola fide, and that god alone decided a man s fate, therefore good deeds and the purchasing of
indulgences and merits were worthless.
In 1517, Johann Tetzel came to England, authorised by the Archbishop Albrecht to sell indulgences, to
raise money for he debts he owed to Rome. Selling of indulgences exacerbated Luther. He felt that the
Roman Catholic Church, who were supposedly trying to help people reach eternal salvation; were not
fulfilling its duty, as a truly repentant Christian had already gained remission from

Exodus Identity Analysis
Exodus created an identity for the Israelites through the form of Moses, which also defined the main
relationship with their God. Through Moses, the Israelite people were eventually granted access to
leave their bonds in Egypt and begin the journey to their promised land. However, God s covenant
with the Israelites is extremely conditional. No other forces may be worshipped other than the true
God, and everyone must follow the Ten Commandments, as well as trusting in Moses and his words.
Those who did not follow directions were usually treated to a plague, widely seen throughout Exodus
7 12, when the Pharaoh refused to let the Israelites go during God s words via Moses. This continued
on through the entire passage to the promised land.

Legalize Marijuana Essay
Cannabis sativa or Marijuana as is commonly known worldwide is a hard drug with adverse side
effects to the users. With this reason it is an illegal drug in a majority of parts in the world. However
according to research statistics, with this illegality there is still a high rise of both users as well as
those initiated into the practice annually with the United Nations placing it first among the illicit
substances widely used in the world (UNODC 198). Having worked previously in a number of
facilities for juvenile delinquency and correction in California I observed and participated in the

It is also widely used for medicinal purposes as prevention for nausea and vomiting and hunger
stimulation in patients undergoing chemotherapy and those suffering from AIDs among others. Its
long term effects on the other hand include a change in brain operation and disruptions in fertility.
Numerous articles have thus been written with the debate whether the use of marijuana should be
made legal or not.
Most laws have therefore been put in place to prevent the planting, possession and transfer of
Marijuana in relation to these and more effects of the drug. However, laws in some countries have
been reviewed with regards to the possession of low amounts of Marijuana. Although this is a great
step, it still does not provide a full solution in reducing excess consumption of the drug. This is
because most young people who indulge in excessive use of the drug do so as an experiment to get the
good feeling of being on the other side of the law. To prevent this, it would be appropriate to legalize
the use of the drug without restrictions. This would result in the moderate use if not the total
abandonment of the drug when not necessary.
There are numbers of instances when the drug use is fully permitted and protected by the law such as
in its use for medicinal purposes in the treatment of severe chronic pain. This group of people is
allowed to grow their own cannabis, employ someone else to do it for them or form groups where they

Suicide Is Reaching Epidemic Proportions All Across The Globe
Suicide is reaching epidemic proportions all across the globe. What is causing such an outbreak in
young adults? Most people have heard about the get help hotlines and the advertisements associated
with suicide. Although we ve all heard about it, not much is being done about it. Johnson states the
facts about suicide, claiming 39,518 lives in 2011, or more than 6,889 more than in 2005 (10). This
small piece of information goes to show just how much suicide has increased in the last few years.
Besides being the number 10 cause of death among all ages in the U.S., it is the 2nd leading killer of
adolescents, or people between ages 15 and 19 (Peacock 1). Also, the number of completed suicides
only touches the surface on the dilemma it truly is; this is because there are 25 suicide attempts per
every suicide (731). What goes unnoticed is that suicide is on the rise for a number of reasons
including mental illness, bullying, social media, and high expectation perfectionist teens.
Mental illnesses, including the number one untreated cause for suicide, depression, account for 90% of
suicides (Randall 532). Depression causes serious negative consequences that may lead to suicidal
behavior if not taken care of properly (Martinez 2). Anxiety, another mental disorder, may cause worry
and over analysis in even simple tasks. The risk for suicide is noticeably higher within the first year of
diagnosis for those with anxiety and depression. However, patients with schizophrenia,

We Should Wear Pants
A pant refers to any cloth that is worn under/inside an individual s outer clothes. Elizabeth Smith
Miller was the first woman to discover an inner ware in 1851. She sought to come with a reformed
system of women s dressing code.Innerwares are of different categories and are meant to serve diverse
purposes. For instance some men widely use shorts to serve as their undergarments. Other related
undergarments that serve the same purpose as the pants include the t shirts, vests and others. There are
some contentions on whether the women specifically should wear pants. Christians argue that women

The zip of the trouser may accidentally inflict injuries to the penis when closing it.However, since the
pants serve the purpose of holding tight the private organs; it is difficult for the zip to inflict injuries to
them. Specific types of Pants are used by different professions depending on the nature of the work
that these people are doing. Policemen and horse riding wear long pants. Motorbike riders also use the
long pants. The pants protect them in several ways. For example, the motorcycle rider is normally
protected from being burnt by the hot parts.furthermore; the individual is protected from getting
bruised in case of an accident. Pants also provide an extra covering to the skin. This has the purpose of
preventing an individual from being damaged by tools in the industry or from other accidents.
Exposure to chemical substance in the environment is dangerous. Materials such as nails are also
dangerous. Individual do wear pants to prevent the substances from harming them in case of an
occurrence of an accident as they are working on the environment such as cleaning (Rushton Susie,

cancer as a result of the Ultraviolet radiation. Long pants are normally worn to prevent this. Pants

Rachel Carson Silent Spring Summary
Rachel Carson s Silent Spring tries to convey the message that humans alter the environment by using
chemicals that enter water, food, soil, and many species, causing effects related to many concepts in
environmental science. Pesticides can get into water, one of our most precious sources, which causes
many effects. They can get into groundwater, which Carson states on page 40 that the majority of
them most likely come from agricultural uses on farmlands, which are brought to the water by rain
(Carson, 1962). Carson on pages 46 through 50 talks about the effects Clear Lake has received from

Cost-Benefit Analysis
Sports is one of the largest recreational activities in canada, with over 2 million kids aged 5 to 14, took
part in sports. However, our government has decreased its funding over sports. From 2014 to 2015,
201.98 million dollars were funded but from 2015 to 2016, only 196.78 milion dollars were funded on
sports. Moreover, sports participation of kids is declining. Boys now are less likely to regularly
participate in sports than they were back in 1992 and those who do compete are involved in fewer
sports. The decline rate will continue unless our government promotes sports heavily, through schools
and community sport programs. Our governent should dedicate more money on these programs
because sports are mainly promoted by such means, sports have heath benefits and sports make us
smarter. Firstly, kids develop physical literacy through schools and community sport programs.
According to the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD), kids from age 6 to 8 belong to

P3: Compare different research methodologies for health and social care. In this assignment I will be
comparing the different types of research methodologies for health and social care. INTERVIEWS:
Interviews are usually taken for people when they are looking for jobs or looking places in college and
universities. There are many advantages of interviews, one being that they will be able to get good
information and some data, also they will develop their communication skills too when talking to the
other individual. However there are also many weaknesses such as, time consuming, the person being
interviewed could be lying and also the questions may not be clear. Another weakness is that there
could be a language barrier between the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method includes the observer not being part of the group and just watching from a far distance.
The advantage of this method is that the observer may get some good data as they are observing
closely. Easier to record data as you are not participating, also it is very cheap and simple. However,
the disadvantages are that you may not get as much data as you are not a part of the discussions so you
may not get a lot of information as you would like. BOOKS: Books are in formation written down by
people. They can be written down as knowledge or real life stories. The advantages form getting
information and writing data from a book is that you will find out a lot of information that you didn t
already know. Also you will extend you knowledge by reading. However, the information may not be
accurate and could be false. Another weaknesses form getting information books is that it is also quite
time consuming looking for the answers and information when reading a book. WEBSITES: This
method is another way to get data from. Websites are also very good because they can find you
reliable information about any topic you want to gain knowledge from. However a disadvantage for
websites is that they could contain false information. Another advantage is that there are wide ranges

Movies have a lot of work put into them in which us the audience tend to not really pay attention to. In

Even the little things that people tend to ignore can make the major difference in a film. Editing which
combines all the shots together in which it takes various cuts to get to the final product, then
cinematography which gives us the views of the moving images in the film whether it being characters
or any important point of view that they are trying to show. Lastly sound which helps the film feel
more real and grab its audience with background music if they have any, to follow it would also show
its mood to introduce the characters or set the pace of the film or perhaps link scenes and set the time
and place. All of these elements weren t as in depth in the past as they are now, which indeed has

How Has Basketball Changed Over The Years
Basketball has been played all around the world and there are many different rules and regulations
when playing this sport. Basketball has many different levels of experience. There is a level at the fifth
and sixth grade level, the seventh and eighth grade level, the junior varsity level, the varsity level in
high school, the college level, and the professional level or National Basketball Association (NBA).
Basketball was invented in 1892 by a Canadian doctor named James Naismith. He started with having
simple rules so all the players were able to get used to playing the sport very easily. Basketball has
changed over the years and it will continue to change in the future. For all the different levels of
basketball, there are different rules and judgments on how the game should be played. Basketball has
many different ways to play effectively. It is a very competitive sport and as a player it is his/her job to

Mel, I spent all day yesterday reviewing last fall s process fruit operations at receiving plant #1 [RP1]

Those That Founded The Constitution Intended For A President
Those that founded the constitution intended for a president to be a man of impeccable prestige but not
a man with and excessive amount of power. A great amount of people harbored a considerable amount
of rear about if their chief executive became too powerful. Over the time of the Progressive Era, US
citizens did not only shift their mindset and notion concerning what the national government should
do, but also their views about how strong the president should be.
The trident of the Progressive Era Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson collectively held office from 1901 and
1921. Though opposing in many ways, they all possessed a strong obligation to reform. They

Roosevelt believed that Taft would ensure reform in his program. That being said, two men were
complete opposites. Roosevelt was outspoken and loved the limelight, whereas, Taft was quiet and
reserved. Roosevelt took bold actions, Taft was cautious. In short, Taft was a apprehensive, lackluster
campaigner. Yet, Roosevelt s backing was the catalyst that truly caused him to obtain victory.
As president, Taft sustained the movement for reform. He battled to bind the supremacy of big
corporations and added land to the national forest system. That being said, Taft did not see eye to eye
with other progressives. Progressives sought reduced tariffs on imported goods. The result of this
would cause foreign products to be less expensive for American consumers. On top of that, lower
tariffs would likewise cause a surge competition, forcing American manufacturers to lower their
prices. All the leading businesses preferred high tariffs. Although Taft ran for president on a low tariff
platform, yet in 1909 he settled to sign the Payne Aldrich Bill, which raised tariffs. This action
tarnished Taft s record as a progressive.
The 1912 election also highlighted a few candidates. Woodrow Wilson, a man of firm progressive
principles, represented the Democratic Party. Labor leader Eugene V. Debs, who ran as a socialist,
sponsored more radical change, urging voters to make the working class

The Legal Protections For Disabled People
Disability in America Legal protections for disabled people in America are essential because disabled
people face overwhelming discrimination, and the legislation helps provides equality in an unfair
world.
Imagine driving home late at night, falling asleep behind the wheel, and swerving into oncoming
traffic. When you wake up in the hospital, you can t use your legs. You might not be disabled today,
but what about tomorrow? Some people are born with a disability, and some people become disabled.
Some disability rights activists use the term temporarily abled to describe how there isn t a line set in
stone between us and them . Disabled people face discrimination because they are dehumanized and
seen as lesser than abled people. As a result, politically correct terms used to describe disabled people
change frequently, an example of the euphemism treadmill . Ableism is when disabled people are seen
as broken and able people are seen as superior, which results in words used to describe disability
becoming insults. When a child calls someone stupid, or retarded, or dumb, or an idiot, or lame, or
moronic, they aren t thinking about how the words they are using oppress disabled people by turning
who they are into an insult. Our society raises children to believe that some people are better than
others, an example of the entrenched discrimination disabled people face. Only 45 countries in the
world have laws that specifically protect disabled people (CITE), but disabled

Confronting an ongoing world economic recession and very high rates of unemployment throughout
certain parts of the world such as Europe, the EEC was looking for many new ways to get the most out

The Business Of Mining And Selling Sand And Related...
III. General Background
Since 2011, the Company has been in the business of mining and selling sand and related products.
Primarily, the Company sells a product referred to as dry silica which is largely used in oil gas
operations, particularly in dry casing the wells created through horizontal fracturing ( Fracking )
operations. Secondarily, the Company also sells washed silica sand and fill dirt. Washed silica sand is
generally used as top dressing for sports facilities; particle board; foundry and masonry sand; and
mortar productions. Fill dirt is generally purchased by landscapers and construction contractors.
a. The Refining Process
The Company has its headquarters, and one mine with one pit located in Texas. The Company s Texas
mine is located in the Paluxy sand formation. The Company s Paluxy sand is non consolidated and is
dug out using excavators and shovels. The Company does not perform any blasting to extract its sand.
All sand is extracted through digging.
Once extracted, the sand is hauled via truck to a primary feeder. Once placed in the primary feeder, it
is slurrified and screened to remove overburden and other oversized non sand particles. The sand
slurry is then pumped to the onsite washing plant. The washing plant serves 2 functions, washing and
sizing. Once entering the washing plant, sand is rinsed by fresh water. The sand is then placed into
sizing apparatus.
The Company uses both cyclones and hydrosizers for sand sizing. The cyclones

Comparing Logit And Probit Models Essay
In Logit and Probit models, a dependent variable takes only two values that represent the occurrence
of an event (yes or no) or a choice between two alternatives. In the current case, to model choice status
of each individual WTP for improved solid waste management respondents differed in age,
educational attainment, income, sex and other observable characteristics. These are denoted by S. In
the dichotomous choice method, individuals are assumed to have utility function, U, income (I), and a
set of conditioning factors (S): U(I; S)
Each respondent was confronted with a specified bid value, BID, which she or he may contribute
towards the management initiative. It is assumed that the individual would accept a suggested BID to
maximize his or her utility under the following condition and reject it otherwise (Hanemann, 1984):
U(1, I BID; S)+ ε1 ≥U(0, I; S) + ε0
In the current case, ε1 and ε0 are considered as independently distributed random variables with zero
means. Therefore, the probability that a household would decide to pay for the proposed improved
solid waste management for Delhi is the probability that the conditional indirect utility function for
proposed intervention is greater than the conditional indirect utility function for the status quo. The
dependent variable is dichotomous and equals 1, if the ith household is willing to pay a bid and 0,
otherwise. The general form of the estimation can be written as:

Anglican Communion And Episcopal Communion
Recently, the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have been in a lengthy and complex
disagreement regarding the role of the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members of the church
body and to what lengths the church should go in order to accept all the different sexual orientations
within its congregation. The Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have completely
disagreed on the Communions core doctrine during this debate and have not come even close to

Anglican Communion in hopes for a withdrawal, but the Episcopalians have promised to stand firm

African American Culture In Ralph Ellison s The Invisible Man
American culture had already dominated across the nation by the 1930 s; however, the cherished
traditions of African Americans also began to flourish through the development of their remarkable
presence in the city of Harlem, New York. Ralph Ellison utilizes his perspective on this rise of African
American culture to depict American society during this era, in his 1952 novel, The Invisible Man. His
view on the time is comprised of the prejudice actions against African Americans and the prevalence
of segregation between blacks and whites. Subsequently, Ellison depicts the effects of these actions in
the African American society of Harlem, New York through symbolic features, in order to display how
black stereotypes were a part of the mindset of the typical white American.
Initially, Ellison uses the sambo doll to symbolize these black stereotypes and constant degrading
power of prejudice among the African American societies in the Unites States during the 1930 s. The
sambo doll is mentioned in the instance in which the narrator is looking at a items being sold by a man
he knows, Clifton. Until he takes a closer look at the doll, he doesn t realize its intended purpose and
listens to the seller say, shake him, shake him, you cannot break him For he s Sambo, the dancing,
Sambo, the prancing, Sambo, the entrancing, Sambo Boogie Woogie paper doll. And all for twenty
five cents, the quarter part of a dollar... Ladies and gentlemen, he ll bring you joy, step up and meet
him, Sambo the... (Ellison 358). Through this symbol, Ellison shows how African Americans are just
like puppet dolls used to entertain others, but can be controlled in one way or another, as they are
essentially powerless compared to the whites. The term sambo , in specific, is used as a degrading
term towards African American individuals since the time of slavery, so its reuse during this era gives
the term an even more disheartening connotation. Even today, the use of Sambo Art is a dominant
style of memorabilia in Harvard s Image of the Black in Western Art Archive . This archive contains
around 26,000 images of the blacks in western times; however, gives off a racist impression as the
images they are a part of, are lower quality forms of art

differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of
correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons
between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and
Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh opened
up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in their
attempted creation of a utopian working space. The readings from Childs and the ... Show more

A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus Arles
says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject matter with
descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive quality that he is
searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to
abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less
modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision
After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people
are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a
calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that,
Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue
for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of
civilization in his tropical landscapes. While Van Gogh does feature aspects of modernity in his
painting later

USNA Summer STEM Program
I am interested in attending the USNA summer STEM program because I have the desire to one day
attend the United States Naval Academy and for my love of science, biology in particular. I believe
that gaining the exposure to the academy s campus and the various STEM activities provided will
cause me to become even more determined in reaching my goals. I also bring the aspect of military
lifestyle and the long term future goal of becoming an officer in the United States Navy into my
reason of interest in the program. I would be very proud and honored to graduate from the academy
and go on to serve in the United States Navy, fighting for, and retaining the freedom many before me
have fought to gain and protect. In potentially increasing my knowledge

Remains Of The Day Loyalty
At the center of Kazuo Ishiguro s The Remains of the Day is a lack of loyalty to oneself in the
protagonist, Mr. Stevens, an aging butler at Darlington Hall, who is blindly loyal to his employers,
Lord Darlington and Mr. Farraday. Stevens absentminded loyalty to Lord Darlington in particular has
significant ramifications, most notably affecting his relationship with Miss Kenton, the head
housekeeper at Darlington Hall for many years. Rob Atkinson s assertion that Stevens position in
Darlington Hall resembles what students of the legal profession call neutral partisanship (Atkinson
185) is logical. Atkinson describes how defenders of neutral partisan lawyering are also at pains to
show how the professional role they prescribe serves the public good (187). ... Show more content on

Like these legal defenders, Stevens constantly tries to justify his complete dedication to Lord
Darlington. Stevens believes that the expectation of a distinguished butler is to be as passive and
obedient as possible; discounting whatever an employer does that is morally wrong. This blind loyalty
is quite pathetic, as Stevens suppresses his own emotions in favor of Lord Darlington s. Although
loyalty is usually an admirable quality, in The Remains of the Day, it prompts Stevens to suppress his
own feelings leaving them completely unexpressed. Stevens pursuit of greatness and dignity is a
commendable quest, but he simply goes about attaining it incorrectly, ultimately leaving him to feel
unfulfilled in both his life and his relationships with

Bacteria And Bacterial Cells
Bacteria are haploid organisms that lack the true nuclei of eukaryotic organisms. They contain one
copy of each gene thus the genotype of bacteria can be deduced from phenotypes. Bacteria can
reproduce asexually by means of binary fission and have the ability to transfer genes by several
mechanisms: conjugation, transformation and transduction. Bacterial conjugation is a process that
involves the transfer of genetic material between bacteria through a contact dependent process. The
gene transfer is carried out from a donor cell that contains a conjugative plasmid to a recipient cell
with no plasmid present. Plasmids are circular, double stranded DNA molecules that can replicate
independently of the host cell genome or can be integrated into the genome and replicate with it
during cell division. Conjugative plasmids are present in both Gram positive and Gram negative
bacteria. The conjugative transfer of this bacterial plasmid encodes resistance of bacteria to
antibiotics. Subsequently, conjugation and spread of antibiotic resistance represents a severe problem
in anti microbial treatment, particularly of immunosuppressed patients and in hospitals.
Conjugative plasmids are also known as F plasmids. During the process of conjugation, F plasmid
DNA molecule replicates and one copy of the molecule is transferred to the recipient while the copy
remains within the donor cell. The F‐plasmid has its own origin of replication (oriV), which is a
specific sequence at which DNA

Different Historical Interpretations of Bloody Sunday
On January 30th 1972, civil rights activists were involved in a protest march against internment
through Londonderry. British paratroopers, who were deployed on the streets, shot and killed 13 of the
marchers and wounded others. Many people have different views on what happened and why.
The main conflicting views are those of the paratroopers and their supporters and the views of the
marchers and the friends and family of those killed. Source A is a newspaper report form the Daily
Mail in September 1999. It is a report on new evidence released from the second enquiry into Bloody
Sunday, led by Lord Saville. The headline reads PARAS IN ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, this would be welcomed by the marchers and families of those killed, as they have always
insisted that those killed were innocent victims of British paratroopers. They were greatly angered at
the findings of the Widgery enquiry and believed that it was a whitewash by the British government.
This new evidence presents a new chance for those who they believe are murderers to be put on trial.
Another change, which discredits the original evidence, is that forensic scientist Dr. John Martin, who
gave evidence to the Widgery hearing that Mr. Wray had been handling guns or explosives, has
reversed his opinion . This is bad for the Paratroopers side of the story, but could suggest that Dr.
Martin had been under pressure to support the soldiers in the enquiry, as their story was based on the
protestors firing guns at them.
Source B is another newspaper report, from the Guardian. The headline reads BLOODY SUNDAY
REVELATION. This backs up what we have been saying all these years: the victims were innocent.
This immediately indicated that the writer of the article supports the view of the protesters and the
families of those killed. This also shows that the article may be biased. The article also does not
include the opinion of the Paratroopers or their supporters on the

King Tutankhamun In Ancient Egypt
The beginning of Egypt is a civilization full of wonders and victories, Especially the people that lived
during that time. During 1550 BC to 1292 BC Many pharaohs rose up to lead the kingdom to riches
and prosperity throughout their ruling. Even through hard times the egyptian people and their leaders
figured solutions that solved their problems. One example of these many great pharaohs, is a young
one that was not known to the modern time till 1922. That king was king Tutankhamun, also known as
king Tut. This king was known as the youngest king to ever rule egypt, he was the son of Akhenaton.
Which however was a very powerful ruler that opposed the idea of many gods but instead worship
only one god that was the sun god. However king Akhenaton indeed had impregnated a younger lady,
to soon give a heir to the family. That heir was prince Tutankhamun. ... Show more content on

After he passed, prince Tutankhamun was only 9 years old before coming to rule. This often meant
that most of his choices were controlled by his vizier, during this time he had as well married
Ankhesenamun. Time went by he grew as a person to make his own choices. The choices he made
would eventually helped his kingdom for the best. One of the choices he decided to do during his
ruling was to secure the relationships with Egypt s neighborhoods, for the reason for this was due to
the region of his father. His father decided to abandon his duties leading forward was to secure the
temples of god that were ruin during the period of chaos, this however helped the belief of the army
knowing the gods were on their side. The encouragement lead his people to great victory, prince
Tutankhamun then had the reputation of slaying foes but sadly it was possible that he didn t involved
himself in the war due to an injury. The injury however was a knee

Theme Of Pride In Antigone
The bible considers pride as one of its 7 deadly sins, it is the inception of sin and the root of all things
evil. This negative view on pride is constant throughout many religions. When one has too much pride
or hubris, as the greeks refer to it; they put themselves on the same pedestal as the gods, they do
reckless things like challenging them which undoubtedly never turns out good, as gods are immortal
beings and are considered above us mortals in all terms. In Antigone, Creon s main reason for his ill
fate is his hubris; it blinded him to such an extent that he became oblivious to all the warnings given to
him as he believed he could never do wrong and thus wouldn t give much thought to others with
opposing views.
The play starts out with Creon as the new king, he alone has complete control over the city of Thebes,
thus it s not hard to imagine how this drastic change in his lifestyle can bring with it a surge of
excessive pride. He went from being just another citizen to king in a short period of time. His first
mistake was being foolish enough to create a law that contradicts a law of the gods. This occurs when
Creon states, it has been proclaimed to our people that none shall grace him with sepulture or lament,
but leave him unburied, a corpse for birds and dogs to eat, a ghastly sight of shame. (Hadas, pg 96) In
Ancient Greece religion a burial of a person is very sacred, it was believed to be an essential rite that
aided the person on their path to the

My Experience At My Life
September 14th, 2011, the last day I have in Manado, Indonesia. My family and friends were in the
airport, waiting for me, while I was checking in my luggage. When I went back, all of my friends were
standing and smiling at me. I know they were sad, but they tried to cover it with their smile. I gave
each one of them a t shirt that has writing about them, and they gave me the same thing. We talked,
laughed, and joked around until it was time for me to go. Tears were falling down on their cheeks,
when they heard that it was time for me to go. I gave my family and friends a hug, and went to the
terminal. My journey started, when I got in to the airplane. It was a long long journey, I thought,
because it took hours to get to Los Angeles. I was excited at first, but then sad again when I think
about home. I was crying while I was on the airplane, thinking, how my life is going to be in Harbert
Hills. I had some stops. The first stop was at Changi Airport, Singapore. We have to stay there for a
night, until the next flight (the next day). The airport is really nice and clean. They have free internet,
a free place to rest, and it is very safe too, so I do not have to worry about my suit case. I was on the
computer most of the night, checking my e mails and Facebook. I could not sleep that night, because I
was thinking about my life at home, and again, how is it going to be in Harbert Hills. The second stop
was at Narita Airport, Tokyo, Japan. It was only 45

  • 2. David Geffen Hall Concert Report On the 27th of April, I attended an open rehearsal for the New York Philharmonic at the David Geffen at Lincoln Center. Going to the David Geffen Hall for the first time, I came with high expectations on the size of the place. The venue wasn t as big as I thought it would be, but it was big enough for the standard orchestra size. The setting of the place as I entered was quiet and serene, with the spotlight on the orchestra and conductor Alan Gilbert. In order to fully enjoy the performance no phones or speaking were allowed when they performance went on. The audience followed this rule with conviction, and made it easier for a new comer like me to try to understand the pieces that were being played. One thing that impressed me with my fellow audience members was that fact that they were able to identify the pieces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I enjoyed this because it was easier to understand and made more sense. Compared to Apres by Franck Krawczyk which was came off as a collection of random sounds the Brahms s piece flowed together nicely and felt more uniformed. Symphony No.2 in D major, Op 73 by Johannes Brahms is an estimated 46 minute piece that is composed of four movements. The first movement is in Allegro non troppo, the second movement Adagio non troppo, the third movement Allegretto grazioso and the fourth movement Allegro con spirito. The music period the symphony is from the Romantic era. Although my program didn t outright state what the piece was about, it did gave off a nature like vibe. The nature vibe I got from the piece is a prime aspect of Romantic music, which was all about nature and the supernatural. As mentioned in my program a key feature of Brahms Symphony No.2 in D major, Op 73 is its similarity to Beethoven s Symphony no.6 in F major, Op 68 (Pastoral Symphony). Both works give off a feeling of nature. However Beethoven s piece lets the audience know what it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Brief Note On Death By Social Media Death by social media. Social media, for most of world, was introduced with MySpace. They could reconnect with people they had lost touch with over the years and really share their day to day lives with each other. Social media was the beginning of a new era. As social media grew and continues to grow today the world is reaping the benefits. With many websites and smart phone apps, it is an important communication tool used all over the world. However beneficial, social media is extremely flawed. The world is seeing a loss in productivity and vital communication skills needed for day to day life. People all over the world are less productive since social media hit the big time. Lost productivity effects their personal lives, work lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has happened to me one too many times at home. Instead of taking care of the pool or the lawn I was too busy telling people that I was going to do it. Most people, including myself, will say they are going to do something, wait for a bit of recognition and that gratification is enough to make them feel as good as if they had done the activity. They end up feeling great about their hard work but in reality none of the work has been done. Social media is used for just about everything so it is no surprise it is seen in the work place. Many businesses use social media to promote their work and bring in revenue. But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the envelope and see what they can get away with. I once worked in a factory, in an area by myself and I knew I could have my cell phone out. With that came the temptation to socialize, via social networking. It was so bad at one point that I spent over an hour using social media without realizing. This type of behavior led to questions as to why my work was not done in a timely manner. Companies are losing money and valuable time because of the craze that is social media. Education is also suffering because of social media. Students everywhere, especially the younger generations, are extremely involved with social networking. • 6. Analysis Of Blake Pierce s Cause To Kill, A Murder Mystery Cause to Kill, a murder mystery written by Blake Pierce is a story about Avery Black, a homicide investigator, and her struggle to complete and solve her first murder case. Avery Black is written to be both passive and emotionally stable, and knowing Avery s past and current state of being, this is seen to be untrue. If Pierce used more depth, detail and information, Avery s character could be greatly developed. The way Avery carries herself, her past, and her present, is strong and powerful. Knowing specific details about Avery s reactions and thoughts to specific people and powers would better help Avery Blake live outside the book. The way Pierce describes Avery s interactions with other people makes her seem passive and an easy target for taunts, but knowing her past, the readers know this to be false. As the book begins, Avery is being introduced by Captain Mike O Malley: Last but not least, He said in his thick accent, I d like to welcome Avery Black to Homicide Squad. A few perfunctory claps filled the room, which otherwise remained embarrassingly silent (Pierce 20). This dialogue does not take Avery s actions and feelings into accountability. If these aspects were shown and developed, it could clue the reader in on Avery s personality and mind. Avery Black, a previous defense attorney, had her life crumble due to a mistake in the field, and even though everything in her life is shattered, she somehow remains stable. Knowing this promotion to the Homicide Squad is a large risk for all parties involved, one person in such a position would most certainly unable to keep their cool. Officer Ramirez was the only officer who would work with Avery, and the response of bystanding officers shows how Avery s normal treatment will be. Go get her tiger. Break her in right. Avery shook her head Nice, she said (Pierce 30). Avery s response is not the one expected, and she lets the comments slide. Knowing the position she was in and how she was treated, it is a surprise that a strong female protagonist like Avery would let foolish men be this way to her. • 9. Examples Of Foolishness In King Lear In Shakespeare s King Lear the relationship between wisdom and foolishness is explored through the characters Lear and Gloucester. Throughout the play, both characters were foolish based on their decisions, and after losing everything they had, they came to see how inappropriately they acted. Through this realization they gained wisdom by taking responsibility for their actions, and by making amends with those they had let down. In this play, Shakespeare demonstrates how gaining this insight can be difficult, heartbreaking, and often times one may end up with nothing but a new found wisdom. The beginning of these characters journey to insight must unfortunately start with foolishness. The play starts with King Lear asking his 3 daughters how much they love him. Lear, not thinking about the sincerity of Cordelia s gesture or the genuine words she has spoken, is only offended and enraged that she did not flatter his ego like her sisters. Lear disowns Cordelia and decides to split his kingdom between selfish sisters Regan and Goneril. This decision is the snowball that keeps on rolling; growing into a bigger and bigger mess throughout the story. King Lear was idiotic in not analyzing the situation. He could not see that Cordelia was the only daughter that truly loved him and that Regan and Goneril only loved what he had to give them. The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in Germany The reformation was a movement that fundamentally challenged the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. The role of the clergy was undermined and the relationships between national countries and the Roman Catholic Church were threatened. The renaissance began in Italy during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries through patronage and the flourishing society, and Rome achieved cultural prominence. This was significant, as the church had seen itself as the sole interpreter of the bible; this made the bible the main authority for religious belief and not the church. The circulation of literature also meant that much of the laity had access to knowledge and so become literate and consequentially the Catholic Church s monopoly over education and communicating was broken up. Martin Luther, a scholar and Augustian Friar, had also been influenced by the renaissance and humanism and had developed his own ideas about salvation, the treasury of merits and the issues taught by the Roman Catholic Church. His ideas were based upon the scriptures, sola scriptura, as these were the only things that were beyond fallibility, he believed that original texts should also be studied. Luther also believed that it was by man s own faith that he could achieve eternal salvation, sola fide, and that god alone decided a man s fate, therefore good deeds and the purchasing of indulgences and merits were worthless. In 1517, Johann Tetzel came to England, authorised by the Archbishop Albrecht to sell indulgences, to raise money for he debts he owed to Rome. Selling of indulgences exacerbated Luther. Most laws have therefore been put in place to prevent the planting, possession and transfer of Marijuana in relation to these and more effects of the drug. However, laws in some countries have been reviewed with regards to the possession of low amounts of Marijuana. Although this is a great step, it still does not provide a full solution in reducing excess consumption of the drug. This is because most young people who indulge in excessive use of the drug do so as an experiment to get the good feeling of being on the other side of the law. To prevent this, it would be appropriate to legalize the use of the drug without restrictions. This would result in the moderate use if not the total abandonment of the drug when not necessary. Even though we spent $100,000 last winter for a fifth Kiwanee dumper at RP1, our overtime costs were still out of control this fall, and the growers are still upset that their trucks and drivers had to spend so ... Some significant trends are observable in Table A. Probably the most important trend was the growing surplus of cranberries produced over those utilized. This surplus was serious enough by 1978 for the growers to resort to the Agriculture Marketing Agreement Act of 1937. Under this act, growers can regulate and control the size of an agricultural crop if the federal government and more than two thirds of the growers agree to a plan for crop restriction. A great amount of people harbored a considerable amount of rear about if their chief executive became too powerful. Over the time of the Progressive Era, US citizens did not only shift their mindset and notion concerning what the national government should do, but also their views about how strong the president should be. Roosevelt was outspoken and loved the limelight, whereas, Taft was quiet and reserved. Roosevelt took bold actions, Taft was cautious. In short, Taft was a apprehensive, lackluster campaigner. Yet, Roosevelt s backing was the catalyst that truly caused him to obtain victory. As president, Taft sustained the movement for reform. He battled to bind the supremacy of big corporations and added land to the national forest system. That being said, Taft did not see eye to eye with other progressives. Progressives sought reduced tariffs on imported goods. The result of this would cause foreign products to be less expensive for American consumers. On top of that, lower tariffs would likewise cause a surge competition, forcing American manufacturers to lower their prices. All the leading businesses preferred high tariffs. Although Taft ran for president on a low tariff platform, yet in 1909 he settled to sign the Payne Aldrich Bill, which raised tariffs. This action tarnished Taft s record as a progressive. • 29. The Legal Protections For Disabled People Disability in America Legal protections for disabled people in America are essential because disabled people face overwhelming discrimination, and the legislation helps provides equality in an unfair world. Imagine driving home late at night, falling asleep behind the wheel, and swerving into oncoming traffic. When you wake up in the hospital, you can t use your legs. You might not be disabled today, but what about tomorrow? Some people are born with a disability, and some people become disabled. Some disability rights activists use the term temporarily abled to describe how there isn t a line set in stone between us and them . Disabled people face discrimination because they are dehumanized and seen as lesser than abled people. As a result, politically correct terms used to describe disabled people change frequently, an example of the euphemism treadmill . Ableism is when disabled people are seen as broken and able people are seen as superior, which results in words used to describe disability becoming insults. When a child calls someone stupid, or retarded, or dumb, or an idiot, or lame, or moronic, they aren t thinking about how the words they are using oppress disabled people by turning who they are into an insult. Our society raises children to believe that some people are better than others, an example of the entrenched discrimination disabled people face. Comparing Logit And Probit Models Essay In Logit and Probit models, a dependent variable takes only two values that represent the occurrence of an event (yes or no) or a choice between two alternatives. In the current case, to model choice status of each individual WTP for improved solid waste management respondents differed in age, educational attainment, income, sex and other observable characteristics. These are denoted by S. In the dichotomous choice method, individuals are assumed to have utility function, U, income (I), and a set of conditioning factors (S): U(I; S) Each respondent was confronted with a specified bid value, BID, which she or he may contribute towards the management initiative. It is assumed that the individual would accept a suggested BID to maximize his or her utility under the following condition and reject it otherwise (Hanemann, 1984): U(1, I BID; S)+ ε1 ≥U(0, I; S) + ε0 In the current case, ε1 and ε0 are considered as independently distributed random variables with zero means. • 38. African American Culture In Ralph Ellison s The Invisible Man American culture had already dominated across the nation by the 1930 s; however, the cherished traditions of African Americans also began to flourish through the development of their remarkable presence in the city of Harlem, New York. Ralph Ellison utilizes his perspective on this rise of African American culture to depict American society during this era, in his 1952 novel, The Invisible Man. His view on the time is comprised of the prejudice actions against African Americans and the prevalence of segregation between blacks and whites. Subsequently, Ellison depicts the effects of these actions in the African American society of Harlem, New York through symbolic features, in order to display how black stereotypes were a part of the mindset of the typical white American. Initially, Ellison uses the sambo doll to symbolize these black stereotypes and constant degrading power of prejudice among the African American societies in the Unites States during the 1930 s. The sambo doll is mentioned in the instance in which the narrator is looking at a items being sold by a man he knows, Clifton. Until he takes a closer look at the doll, he doesn t realize its intended purpose and listens to the seller say, shake him, shake him, you cannot break him For he s Sambo, the dancing, Sambo, the prancing, Sambo, the entrancing, Sambo Boogie Woogie paper doll. And all for twenty five cents, the quarter part of a dollar... Ladies and gentlemen, he ll bring you joy, step up and meet him, Sambo the... (Ellison 358). Through this symbol, Ellison shows how African Americans are just like puppet dolls used to entertain others, but can be controlled in one way or another, as they are essentially powerless compared to the whites. The term sambo , in specific, is used as a degrading term towards African American individuals since the time of slavery, so its reuse during this era gives the term an even more disheartening connotation. Even today, the use of Sambo Art is a dominant style of memorabilia in Harvard s Image of the Black in Western Art Archive . They contain one copy of each gene thus the genotype of bacteria can be deduced from phenotypes. Bacteria can reproduce asexually by means of binary fission and have the ability to transfer genes by several mechanisms: conjugation, transformation and transduction. Bacterial conjugation is a process that involves the transfer of genetic material between bacteria through a contact dependent process. The gene transfer is carried out from a donor cell that contains a conjugative plasmid to a recipient cell with no plasmid present. Plasmids are circular, double stranded DNA molecules that can replicate independently of the host cell genome or can be integrated into the genome and replicate with it during cell division. Conjugative plasmids are present in both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. The conjugative transfer of this bacterial plasmid encodes resistance of bacteria to antibiotics. Subsequently, conjugation and spread of antibiotic resistance represents a severe problem in anti microbial treatment, particularly of immunosuppressed patients and in hospitals. Conjugative plasmids are also known as F plasmids. During the process of conjugation, F plasmid DNA molecule replicates and one copy of the molecule is transferred to the recipient while the copy remains within the donor cell. • 49. Theme Of Pride In Antigone The bible considers pride as one of its 7 deadly sins, it is the inception of sin and the root of all things evil. This negative view on pride is constant throughout many religions. When one has too much pride or hubris, as the greeks refer to it; they put themselves on the same pedestal as the gods, they do reckless things like challenging them which undoubtedly never turns out good, as gods are immortal beings and are considered above us mortals in all terms. In Antigone, Creon s main reason for his ill fate is his hubris; it blinded him to such an extent that he became oblivious to all the warnings given to him as he believed he could never do wrong and thus wouldn t give much thought to others with opposing views. I gave each one of them a t shirt that has writing about them, and they gave me the same thing. We talked, laughed, and joked around until it was time for me to go. Tears were falling down on their cheeks, when they heard that it was time for me to go. I gave my family and friends a hug, and went to the terminal. My journey started, when I got in to the airplane. It was a long long journey, I thought, because it took hours to get to Los Angeles. I was excited at first, but then sad again when I think about home. I was crying while I was on the airplane, thinking, how my life is going to be in Harbert Hills. I had some stops. The first stop was at Changi Airport, Singapore. We have to stay there for a night, until the next flight (the next day). The airport is really nice and clean. They have free internet, a free place to rest, and it is very safe too, so I do not have to worry about my suit case. I was on the computer most of the night, checking my e mails and Facebook. I could not sleep that night, because I was thinking about my life at home, and again, how is it going to be in Harbert Hills. The second stop was at Narita Airport, Tokyo, Japan. It was only 45 ...
