2. In general
I have done a different layout for my Double page
spread. Now I want to compare the two layouts, show
them to different people and listen to what they say or
what ideas they have.
I did another layout, because I was playing around with
the placement of the images and I liked what came out,
so I took it a step further and finished another double
page spread.

3. 1 st Layout
You have already seen this layout.
It took a while till it was finished
and in my opinion it shows a lot of
Photoshop skills and follows the
conventions of a music magazine.
I showed to some people and they
said that it does look professional,
but Mr Aske said it could be better
that is why I tried something
different.

4. 2nd Layout
This is the 2nd layout and as you
can see it is very different to the
first one. It doesn’t show that
much Photoshop skills as the
other one, but I really like the
whole composition and mood
that this piece has. The framing is
also much more relaxed, because
less is going on, but it still has a
feel of depth, like the other
layout.

5. I asked a friend, what he thinks about the
second layout and he told that it looks
really good, but not really like a music
magazine.
He said that it looks more like an article
about a boxing event.
So I went on Google images and had a
look and there I saw that he was totally
right the boxing poster and the Double
page spread do have some similarities,
like the two guys facing each other.
So this might be a real problem, because
the other layout is clearly supposed to be
a music magazine and people recognize it
as one.

6. Conclusion
After a lot of thinking and advice taking and listening to
other peoples opinions, I decided to change the first layout
a bit and give it a bit more organisation, because that is
what most of the people liked about the 2nd one.
But I will upload the variant cover as well and you can
comment and let me know what you think.

7. Final Layout
The text in the
bottom left is now in
a column instead of
following the outline
of the text. To do that
I had to cut some off
the text, but that
wont make much
difference. I also
isolated the text in
the bottom right and
brought the
background images
closer together, so
you can see their
faces a bit better.
