This document summarizes an FMP evaluation project focused on photography. It includes sections on research, planning, time management, technical qualities, aesthetic qualities, audience appeal, and peer feedback. The planning section describes creating a style sheet, layout, and mood board. Time management discusses issues booking equipment and re-taking blurry photos. 3. Research
For my research, I chose images from the Internet that were going to be
similar to what I was going to do. The images helped with what kind of
background I was going to have, the colours they had chosen for the leaves
and if they’ve edited it or left it natural. Also, it helped the positioning of the
person. Other things I considered for my photography were the lighting so I
had to do on a day it wasn’t raining, costume – the person was wearing shirt,
black jacket with jeans and brown boots, the only I used for props was a
school bag which he was either wearing or had the bench and then the
location was outside on the grass near the trees and also used the bench for
some shots. Some weaknesses of the research was trying to find at pre-1990
image to analysis but I used a magazine cover instead.

4. Planning
For my planning, I had a style sheet which I put all the colours that I was thinking
of using, images that were similar to what I was doing for ideas and fonts for my
portfolio even they had their own on the website I was using so I didn’t end up
using the fonts that I wanted. The style sheet was helpful because it had
everything useful for what I needed. There was also, a layout where I could put
down my idea so I knew what it was going to look like. So, for my first layout I
chose an image from the Internet of two leafs on top of each other and I changed
the brightness of the image and put my name on it. At the start I put together a
mind map of three different media things to do and then when I finally chose
what I was going to do I did a mind map completely on that with all my ideas on it.
I also, put together a mood board of different images that were similar to what I
was going to do. This helped because it showed me how it was going to look and
then I could change it if I needed to. I looked at different photographers as well to
get inspired, one photographer that I put on final idea was Sebastian Kim who
does photographs for celebrities etc. A weakness was when I was doing my final
idea because I didn’t have much to write about it so instead I just used images to
fill the page.

5. Time Management
I had a problem in the first week we started our project because all the
cameras were booked out for the other classes so I had to wait till the next
week. I booked out a camera for the next week and took the photographs I
needed. I had to re-do my photographs because the first lot were blurry. After
I got all the photographs I needed I then started to edit them and make them
different from each other. I did not stick to my schedule that I made because
when I was making it, I was unsure on what I was doing anyway. I did
everything in the week that I had and stayed behind Friday to finish the
power points and editing. I think I had enough time to do everything in that
week because I usually stay behind on Fridays, so it didn’t bother me,
however, I wish I did have more time just to take some more photographs and
edit them so my portfolio had more on it than less.

6. Technical Qualities
One thing that is similar are the theme of the
image which is Autumn.
A difference is the image with the female model in is
edited and the other image isn’t. You can tell this image
is edited because the have selected different parts of
the image and made it brighter or darker.
Another similarity is both images
have props. In the left image she is
holding a basket and in the right
image he has a bag on the bench.
Another difference is they have used accessories in the left image such as, a
hand band which goes with the theme of Autumn whereas in the right image
its only the background that shows the theme more than what he is wearing.

7. Aesthetic Qualities
I took this image off the internet and edited it by
using the saturation and brightness tool and darken
the background so then the leaf stood out more by
making it brighter in the middle where it is yellow. It
is not as creative as I could have made it because I
would have taken a photograph of a leaf from
outside and then tried to edit it and make it my
own.
Some strengths of this image is its different and
unique. I did two different types of images and
showed them to different people to see which one
they liked best and this was the they liked better
because it was aesthetically pleasing.
Some weaknesses was trying to find an image
different from others ideas that I had searched.

8. Audience Appeal
My idea was to do a fashion themed photography
portfolio. My target audience was 19 to 15 years
old of both genders. It would appeal to my
audience because they would want to have
similar fashion or to keep up with latest fashion
trends. The main objective of this photography
was the editing. I have changed the colouring of
the tree to a darker green and purple. I have also
used the same tool on the bushes behind. From
my questionnaire, I got that the majority of my
audience prefers nature photography than the
other kind of photography. So this image and the
other may appeal to them more than the others.

What did you like about the product?
One thing I liked about the portfolio was the colour scheme. The colour
scheme linked in very well. Also, it was a very well chosen background colour
to link in with Autumn.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
To improve the product next time, you could have more images that you have
taken and then edited.

A good thing about the portfolio, it was creative how she made the first
image of the leaf her own and it was very well edited.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
You could have put the model into some Autumn looking clothing and then it
would have looked better with the background.

I, personally like the models positioning in the photographs. I think the one
where he is sat on the bench is the best one. The product was very well put
together.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
You could have done an opening page to your portfolio, like an introduction
about your work. This would have made it more interesting and want me
wanting more.

13. Peer Feedback Summary
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with all the feedback that I got from my peer’s because I think I could
have made it better myself. However, I did run out of time so if I did this next
time I would make sure I had enough time to do what I wanted.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I do not disagree with any of my feedback because I think it helps when you
get feedback to improve on your own work as that is the way it will look
visually appealing.

14. Peer Feedback Summary
From my feedback, I have taken into consideration everything said. At the
start, when I did my survey, I put the question about which photography my
audience liked the most and out of that I found out that black and white
photography was very well liked so I put some black and white photographs
in even though the main subject isn’t, the background is. Next time I do a
portfolio I will take this advise from my feedback and think about changing
the models clothing into something more Autumny to fit in with the theme
more and do some sort of introduction into my work because this would
make my work look professional even though it isn’t. Unfortunately, I didn’t
get enough time to do more photographs which I wish I did so then my
portfolio didn’t look empty and it could look more like a portfolio and then
edit them.
