Effects on Warp.
and Working titles
What is Cross Media
     Convergence and synergy ?
Cross Media Convergence:
- Media production companies use a variety of media to display their
  products.
- This is possible because of technology (Internet, TV, mobile phones)

Synergy:
- Synergy happens when two or more companies work together to produce
    one thing
    for example:
          - Samsung makes phones
          - O2 offers a network
          - for the phone to work it needs to be connected to a network
Both benefit from cross media convergence as
means to a market their products

Warp benefits from :
- The synergy with other production companies and funding bodies
- Word of mouth support of Facebook/Short-film/film websites/BBC films etc.

Working Titles benefits from:
- The marketing operation that Universal has at its disposal
- Films made by WT can be distributed on general release at cinemas and on
  DVD, TV and Blu-ray
- They can be shown on a variety of TV stations owned by Universal Nationally
  and Globally
How does it effect Working titles
              and Warp. Pictures ?

• Institutions benefit from Vertical Integration and can control distribution
  process.
Working titles produces films all by its own and lets Universal distribute it.
Warp pictures is able to control the expenses for production and distribution.

• While it is relatively straight forward to make a film it is distribution/marketing
  that requires funds.
Working Titles works together with Universal studios which have a large
  amount of money for distribution.
Warp. saves money because of low production costs and distributes more
  effectively.
• Working Titles generated from Film4 which made British films; even if
they had limited success at box office they provided TV material; BBC
  films the same.
So working titles can be sure even if the film they make is not shown in
cinemas it will be seen on TV and available on DVD

• Social Networking Sites, I phones, trailers on all formats make a
difference – can be cheap. all make film marketing possible at all
  levels.
Both companies benefit from this because they can distribute their
products very effectively and they can distribute it in Facebook, YouTube,
  MySpace ,etc.
• HD Cameras and editing solutions are cheaper than before;
young filmmakers have a chance – and an audience.
This means both companies might have more competition because
they are not the only ones who can produce films anymore.
• Broadband speed made a difference
• Digital cinema means – potentially cheaper production.
• Streaming of Film will make distribution costs go down.
Because of faster Internet it is a good idea to distribute products
more on the internet, and it is cheaper too.
Nowadays it is a lot cheaper to produce films because of faster
broadband, digital cinema and film streaming.
So again it might be more competition for both companies, but they
can also save some money themselves.
•Cinemas will have to compete with new forms of distribution: will
survive but may effect the stranglehold of the big conglomerates.
The companies will have to think about new ways or different ways to
distribute their products because cinema is not the only option.
