1. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSIS
At firstI wasconfuse aboutmy compositionformydouble page spread and I wasn’t sure how to do
my layout.However,afterdoing some research on Korean music magazine’s double page spread. I
was able to get an idea and set out my images and texts.
For my double page spread, I decided to take each solo photo of my models because I wanted my
imagestolook-likeastreet photography which is why, I wanted to focus more on fashion as K-POP
singersare dressedupina way whichare hard to pull off bynon-celebrities. As I was trying to make
my photoslook-like streetstyle,throughoutthe whole shoot I was communicating with my models
to make them feel relaxed and not too worked up since the whole point of these photos was to
capture the individual’s unique fashion sense. I dressed my two models Rushali and Bini mostly in
blackbecause thatparticularcolour iseasyto style tomake it lookclassy,casual yetchic at the same
time.Also,Imade sure bothof themhad a fashionstatementforexample,Rushali is wearing a light
blue cardigan while Bini is wearing a white with grey blazer, a sliver chunky necklace and white
socks.
FirstI wantedto putthese imageslike thisonmydouble page spread
on a white backgroundhowever;Ididn’tlike how the images looked
on a white background. Therefore, I decided to remove the
backgroundof the images by using the ‘Erase Tool’ and put it on top
of a colour background.

2. Also,Idecidedto put the images bit far away from each other so
that my audience couldsee the clothesof mymodelsproperly.As
well as, if I had put the images together then, it would look
cluttered and there would be a lot of empty spaces in the
background.

As you can see after I positioned my images far apart, I was able to put at least 6 questions with 2
addition images at the right hand side corner. At first I had this font for my masthead however I
changed it later into other font because I found the new font was more suitable and funky which
matchesthe genre of musicI was doing.Imade mycontentan interview because I thought by doing
an interview it helps to let the audience understand the difference between K-POP singers and
American/British. Ihave followed conventions of a real magazine for most part as my double page
spreadcontainspage numberandissue numberwhichcanbe clearlyseen.AlsoIhave made the first
letterof the paragraph ina large font so the readers can know where the article is starting from. In
orderto tell newreadersaboutthe groupname I have made the fontcolourinwhite soit stands out
inthe darkbackground.I have alsouseddifferentcolourstoaware the readerswho said what in the
interview.

3. Before After
I made changesinmy double spreadpage due tothe fact that the plain dark backgroundcolour
made the double page spreadlooklike aposterinsteadof amagazine.Inorderto developmy
double page spread,Idecidedtochange mybackgroundcolourintoa lighttone of pink as I was
changingthe backgroundcolourthismeantI had to change my textscolourtoo.AlsoI made more
changesinmy double page spreadforexample the layoutof mytextscomposition andimages.
Before the wayI had layoutthe textscompositionlookedlikehow textsare placedinaposterand I
decidedto change thisbychangingthe size of textsandby spreadingthemoutinsteadof just
placingthemina same column.
I decidedtochange the image because the qualitywasnotverygoodand itlookedpixelatedwhen
the image wasbeingstretchedouthence Ichose a differentimage whichhadbetterquality.Ialso
decidedtocut downontextsbecause before the amountof textmade mydouble page spread
lookedlike aposterwhichhada lotof information.Ichangedthe size of the quote because Iwanted
to emphasise the informationwhichwasstatedonthe quote.Aswell as,Ihave includednamesof
the artistsso that the newreaderswill be able torecognise whotheyare andfindoutinformation
whichtheywantto knowaboutthem.
