Japanese Yen The And Monetary Regimes
Japanese YEN and Monetary Regimes Wall Street Journal author Chelsey Dulaney, discusses the
appreciation of the Japanese YEN (ВҐ) and its impact on its own economy and foreign investors.
For the past quarter, the USD was the strongest amongst its competitors until it fell about 0.1% to
ВҐ 108.1. However, as frequently described within the article, there are no signs of slowing
growth for the YEN and Japanese government officials are now proposing a plan that will halt the
YEN s growth. Factors that are contributing to this hike include investors placing safe haven assets
within the country and general worries about the overall health of the global economy. Despite
plans for future intervention, Japan recently implemented monetary policy changes during the first
half of the year. Japan hoped that by lowering interest rates in the negatives, it will encourage
economic growth, making exports globally competitive. However, despite these changes, Japan s
economy is in dire need of growth stimulation and most foreign strategists believe that Japan will
not implement any changes until they are essentially cutting it close , keeping in mind that Japan
is still in a recession. Strategist, Merill Lynch for Bank of America claims that Japan will most
likely act when YEN falls down to ВҐ100, a figure that has not been seen since 2013. After careful
analysis and further research, the Japanese YEN is an incredibly recent and remarkable example of
the way international monetary regimes

Courier over Postal Service
QUESTION
EXPLAIN THE ADVANTAGES OF COURIER SERVICES OVER PUBLIC POSTAL SERVICES
A courier service is an organization which offers special deliveries of packages, money, documents
or information. Courier services usually boast faster delivery times than any alternative method of
transporting documents, and many services in the modern world rely on them. The idea of couriers
and a courier service has been around almost as long as civilization, with rulers in antiquity using
couriers as a means to make new laws and edicts known throughout their lands. In the modern age of
international business, the courier service has become a keystone of enterprise, even as emerging

This is an excellent way for them to get their items delivered to their loved ones at home. Rather
than use slow mailing services, most tourists are now utilizing this type due to the reasons given
below. Basically, a courier is an agency that aids customers with their delivery packages, such as
money and documents, and provides a faster service. Those people who are always taking a tour
will be able to send postcards and even souvenirs back home no matter where they are. Tourists
also do not have to worry about payments since there are convenient ways to transfer money for
the service, such as automatic billing and online interfaces. More often than not, a courier
company also offers delivery guarantees, along with insurance on shipments and other perks,
making it an imperative part of every traveler s life. So, if you are a frequent holidaymaker, you
will enjoy great benefits from using this type of mailing service. You can be sure of secure
shipments and on time deliveries wherever you may be spending your vacation.
Easy and Convenient: What all you need to do in order to send a courier or parcel to any corner
of the world, is just to call a courier company. The company not only just picks up the parcel from
the desired location, but also makes arrangements for packing, loading and unloading. Unlike the
typical postal service, you don t need to visit any office to book your shipment. Further, you can
also book your parcel delivery online and

Case Study on Nucor Corp
Case 2: Nucor Corporation: Competing Against Low cost Steel Imports
The Company, Nucor Corporation, started its operation in nuclear instrument and electronics
business in early 1950s to early 1960s. Facing bankruptcy, the board of directors opted for a new
leadership and appointed Kenneth Iverson as president and CEO. He concluded that to be able to
avert bankruptcy is to exit the nuclear instrument and electronics business and rebuild the company
around its subsidiary, Vulcraft, which is engaged in steeljoist business. After its integration, it has
expanded its operation in steelmaking seeing opportunities on newly emerging technology to
produce steel more cheaply.

These strategies have been very effective in terms of expanding its resources as well as
conceptualization of new technology (using electric arc furnace as alternative to conventional
furnace) and improvement of plant efficiency thru equipment upgrades. The usage of the
technology has allowed low investment cost for facilities and equipment that eliminated
expensive steps in steel making. Also the use of scrap materials has lessened the purchase of ore
for steel making. Furthermore, joint ventures have given them option to join global market of
steel producers. However, Nucor should be also wary on possible entrants that could offer low
cost steel which might be a reason for a loss of customers which in turn loose potential income and
worst cut jobs.
Steel, being a commodity that is dictated by market demand, has been changing continually. But
being a low cost provider, it has resulted to numerous customers entering into non cancellable
contracts.
Organization and Management in Nucor had a simple and streamlined structure to allow
employees to innovate and make quick decisions. The company was highly decentralized with
most day to day operating decisions made by division or plant level managers and their staff. When

Human Beings Have a Right to Die Essay
Do people have the right to die? Is there, in fact, a right to die? Assisted suicide is a controversial
topic in the public eye today. Individuals choose their side of the controversy based on a number
of variables ranging from their religious views and moral standings to political factors. Several
aspects of this issue have been examined in books, TV shows, movies, magazine articles, and other
means of bringing the subject to the attention of the public. However, perhaps the best way to look
at this issue in the hopes of understanding the motives behind those involved is from the perspective
of those concerned: the terminally ill and the disabled.
Imagine, if you can, having altzheimers disease. Sometimes you are completely ... Show more

In the nursing home, they are understaffed, and do not have the proper understanding of your
condition to care for you as you need to be. Instead, you are left to lie in bed day after day, unable
to use anything but your mind.
Once having a mere glimpse into the lives of the terminally ill or disabled, some are able to
understand their plight; but usually most are not. In most cases, these people are able to take
what they ve been given and deal with it. However, in some cases, some simply can not tolerate
their lives as they are. They feel that the only solution to their problem is to end their lives.
Unfortunately, in some cases, the terminally ill or disabled are not capable of accomplishing this
task by themselves, and are left trapped in a life that they do not want. In these cases, when one
wishes to end his life and is terminally ill, disabled, or otherwise unable to do so independently, he
should have the right to die by assisted suicide. Although most people that are terminally ill or
disabled do not wish to end their lives, there are still those few who do. While examining the issue
of assisted suicide, three facets of the controversy must be considered: the political, the moral, and
the human or compassionate views. By supporting their decision, we support their right to choose
and decide what they want to do with their bodies and their lives, we do not

The Similarities and Differences Between Client-Centered...
The similarities and differences between client centered and psychodynamic therapies are:
Client centered therapy: An approach to counseling where the client determines the general
direction of therapy, while the therapist seeks to increase the client s insightful self understanding
through informal simplified questions. The client is the focal point of the sessions, the therapist
takes a back seat to learn about the person, and watch as the client moves toward the achievement of
their full potential through creativity.
The difference with client centered therapy than psychodynamic therapy is the client directs their
own development and moves at their own pace. The therapist is a source of understanding and
encouragement, with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the many differences there are some main similarities between client centered and
psychodynamic therapy in that they are both approaches to counseling helping clients overcome
obstacles to personal growth and to bring a better quality of life for the client. Also both are
focused on the problems/issues that may or have already hindered the client from successful
relationships. They are both based on empathy, acceptance and understanding providing ways of
responding to a wide range of human needs and providing opportunities for those seeking help to
work towards ways of living in more satisfying and resourceful ways.
My article for this week was The Client Counselor Match and the Corrective Emotional Experience:
Evidence from Interpersonal and Attachment Research written by Annie Bernier and Mary Dozier
from the University of Delaware. The article suggest the client counselor match as a helping
condition for a healing emotional experience and revisits the appropriate facts from attachment and
interpersonal studies. In reading the article this week I believe it does lend validity to client
centered therapy, with client centered therapy, the therapist and client must have a building
relationship, understanding and a meeting of the minds so to speak.
It is generally recognized that the

Opcracy In The Friar s Tale
Karl Marx famously called religion the opiate of the masses (par. 4). There is no denying that
many people derive comfort, purpose, and meaning from religion. However, it is equally true
that throughout history, religion has been used frequently as a tool to oppress the poor and
uneducated. In fourteenth century England, where abuses of clerical power were rampant,
members of the clergy preyed upon the fears of the masses in order to fill their own coffers. In
The Friar s Tale, Geoffrey Chaucer criticizes the clergy by revealing how they used the
repressive ideology of religion to oppress and exploit the working class in a highly class
conscious society. Medieval English society was highly classist. The population was divided into
three socioeconomic classes, or estates: those who governed/fought, those who prayed, and those
who worked. These classes were fairly fixed. For... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a pre scientific era, people turned to religion for the answers to all questions that were beyond
their understanding. However, the working class, because of their poverty and lack of
education, were likely more heavily influenced by religion and the authority of clergymen than
those at higher levels of society. Therefore, such people would make easy prey for those who
would take advantage of them. The Summoner is not calling upon rich people to demand fines
from them. Rather, he preys upon the poor, the uneducated, and the elderly, such as Mabely, an
old rebekke/That hadde almost as lief to lese hire nekke/As for to yeve a peny of hir good./I

power to punish his parishioners for a wide variety of sins, and to make them pay fines. Chaucer

The Use of Biometrics in Forensic Science
1. Biometric Applications
In recent years there have been heightened concerns about security due to the advancements of
networking, communications, and mobility. This has led to the increase in biometrics in different
applications for authentication and identification. The applications can be divided into 3 main
groups Forensics, Government and Commercial (Jain, Flynn Ross, 2008).
1.1 Forensics
The use of biometrics in forensics has been used for a long time. Usage of fingerprints as an
identifier has been used to link suspected criminals to the crime scene by collecting fingerprints
then comparing it. Nowadays as computer technology has become more available. Large
Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) are used to match unknown fingerprints
against a database. Today AFIS is used in every law enforcement agencies worldwide. It is
important to note that the AFIS may not give the exact result of the candidate but a short list of
potential suspects. A forensic specialist would then be required to examine the prints. Biometric
data can also be used for victim identification based off characteristics of the human remains. This
can be achieved by physical evidence. This includes soft biometrics such as height, gender, color
of skin etc. Specific characteristics such as scars, tattoos, moles, can also be useful if matched with
the ante mortem. Genetic identification can also be used to compare DNA with the victims
suspected family s DNA. This could be

The Properties of Hydrostatics
Three containers are filled with water to the same height and have the same surface area at the
base: hence the water pressure and total force on the base of each is the same. Yet the total weight
of the water is different for each. Explain this hydrostatic paradox
The key to this problem is that the force on a container due to the hydrostatic pressure is always
perpendicular to the surface of the water. According to Newton s 3rd law, the container will push
back on the water in the exact opposite direction, also perpendicular to the surface of the container
Consider what happens when you push both a pin and the blunt end of a pen against your skin with
the same force. Decide what determines whether your skin is cut. The net force ... Show more

Will an empty balloon have precisely the same apparent weight on a scale as a balloon filled with
air? Explain.
If air is incompressible, then yes.The full balloon will have more weight (more downward
force), due to the mass of the air in the balloon. The full balloon will also have an upward
buoyant force on it, equal to the weight of the air displaced by the balloon. Since the balloon is
both containing air and floating in air, the weight of the air inside the balloon is the same
magnitude as the buoyant force. Filled balloon has a higher apparent density compared to empty
balloon.
IF you dangle 2 pieces of paper vertically a few inches apart and blow between then, how do you
think the papers will move?
The papers will move toward each other. Bernoulli s principle says that as the speed of the gas
flow increases, the pressure decreases (when there is no appreciable change in height). So as the
air passes between the papers, the air pressure between the papers is lowered. The air pressure on
the outside of the papers is then greater than that between the papers, and so the papers are pushed
together.
Children are told to avoid standing too close to a rapidly moving train because they might get
sucked in under it. Is this possible? Explain.
It is possible. Due to viscosity, some of the air near the train will be pulled along at a speed
approximately that of the train. By Bernoulli s principle, that air will be at a lower pressure than air

Froelich was a grain elevator operator, and every harvesting season he would go a thresh farmer

The Pains Of Sleep By Robert Southey Essay
The couplets encompass the odd tension of The Pains of Sleep : the ending is both over long,
extending the natural length of the stanza by an additional two lines, and abrupt, answering the
universal despair of wherefore fall on me? with an admittedly lacklustre response. The insistent
repetition such , wherefore , love furthers the resounding resolution of the poem. Coleridge s
draft of the poem in a letter to Robert Southey suggests that there is potential for movement
beyond the declaration of the last line, for he affixes c c c c c onto the end of the line, and
whilst a large portion of the draft is altered for its publication in 1816, this line remains
untouched. Perhaps the clue is in one of the lines from The Pains of Sleep which is altered for its
1816 publication but exists in the draft version sent to Southey as well: The self created Hell
within. (Letter to Robert Southey, September 12 1803.) The unfathomable Hell within. ( The Pains
of Sleep , line 46.) The poem can be seen as a verbal translation of the self created Hell within :
whilst the poem is structurally contained, the unfathomable interior world it describes, and the
claustrophobic blending of reality and unreality, all contribute to it seeming incomplete upon
interrogation. Coleridge rejects the universal question in favour of a personal answer because the
poem cannot adequately make sense of the distorted images it contains. Unlike

Domestic Violence And Social Learning Theory
Social learning theory is described by different environmental factors that s influence the
behavioral response of a person (Bandura, 1965). For example, social learning theory assumes a
person bases their responses through an actual environmental stimuli, such as violence. In addition,
when applied to the domestic violence, social learning theory states the actual act of violence is
learned, through role models, such as parents, siblings or relatives as a natural coping mechanism
when conflict is present. As described in the book (I am not your Victim) the countless abuses that
Sam did over Beth was a form coping mechanism for him to avoid the conflicts around. Sam s

How Did Henry Ford Revolutionized Society
I will build a car for the great multitude (Ford in Foner Garraty). This was the promise and the
realization of Henry Ford, who created the Model T for the common man. The Model T influenced
everyday life for the Middle class, whom could not afford a car in the early 20th century. Henry
Ford is one of the most significant people in American history because he revolutionized the
automobileindustry in the United States, he revolutionized mass production and the assembly line,
and he revolutionized the economy with production of the Model T. Henry Fordrevolutionized the
automobile industry by creating a simple and affordable car. He set out to build a car large
enough for the family but small enough for the individual to run and care for. [It must also be] so

Because Henry Ford wanted to make an affordable car he needed workers to build the car. Ford
paid assembly line workers $5.00 per day at a time when prevailing wages averaged about $2.35

who had no job before Henry Ford came along. The main reason Ford paid his workers this wage
was to be sure his employees could buy his product. If Ford were to never introduce this wage to
his employees, they would not have been able to buy his cars. Known as the most dramatic event
in the history of wages Henry Ford increased the wages to $5.00 and reduced the work day by 90
minutes (Dunn, et al.). Henry Ford nearly doubled the average wage to ensure that people would
work for him. Because Henry Ford increased the wage, the middle class formed. The automobile
became the fulcrum for a new economy. It spurred travel, pushed the growth of cities outward and
eventually helped create suburban life (Dunn, et

How Was The Mexican And American War Unjust
The Mexican and American war was a very controversial war. Some think it was just and others
think it was unjust. The war started after the Texas wanted to annex on to the united states. Mexico
and Texas both thought they owned a strip of land in between But the Texans thought it was there.
The undisputed territory both sides wanted and the U.S even was willing to pay for it, but Mexico
turned it down! One event that sparked that was the president of the United StatesJ. K. Polk wanting
the war to happen. As so he sent troops to build a fort on the disputed territory in hopes of the
Mexicans attacking. This plan worked and they attacked. So Polk got congress to declare war.
One question is was this a just war and who owned the disputed land.

The Idle No More Movement
Friedrich Nietzsche is a German philosopher that has a great influence on Western philosophy.
One of his works called On the Genealogy of Morals discusses an overlying theme of superiority
and power as well as good and bad . This book discusses the difference that the power that
superior people have compared the the weak and poor. Nietzsche exemplifies how the powerful
seem to forget about issues that do not pertain to themselves where as the weak fight for the
issues (Nietzsche, 2007, pp 14). This idea of the powerful overlooking the weak in On the
Genealogy of Morals, directly relates to the Idle No More movement. The Idle No More movement

The Canadian government has continually entered indigenous protected land to have diamond,
gold, and oil mines, as well as run oil pipelines. These operations have given the Canadian
government billions of profits. Unfortunately, only little of that profit gained by the Canadian
government is given to the aboriginal peoples. I believe that that the fact that the Canadian
government is profiting off of illegal activity and not sharing a large portion of the profits with
the rightful owners of the resources is wrong. This action and lack of respect for the law goes
directly against Nietzsche s idea of utilitarianism. Nietzsche describes the idea of utilitarianism
as involving how we ought to be made of finer stuff than Utilitarianism (Lecture, 2016). He
describes it as a pursuit of pleasure and good that has a positive and maximized effect for the
majority of people (Lecture, 2016). This idea is how indigenous people live their life. They live
their life so that the future generations can use the same land as they used it. If one person were
to destroy the land for the pursuit of profit, then it should create wealth for the greater number of
people. Christoff s article on Idle No More exemplifies this when Chief Spence says great riches
are being taken from our land for the benefit of a few, including the government of Canada and
Ontario, who receive large royalty payments, while we receive so little, outlines Chief

Well, this is one of the most straightforward circumstances to maintain a strategic distance from,

leave quickly as if you simply flushed it or you have to fill the toilet with water while holding
the plunger over the gap, you at that point expel the plunger, and the water will quickly leave the
bowl, the key is to have the water sufficiently high to leave the bowl. If you pull the plunger far
from the gap and the water just stays there then set the plunger back in and cover the opening. This
time top the bowl off to the base of the edge and after that evacuate the plunger if the water quickly

Sometimes the bully believes his or her actions are justified as a means of climbing the corporate
ladder. When the word bully is mentioned, many people think of an aggressive, mean person.
However, in my experience and from a managerial/supervisory standpoint, most workplace bullies
are actually non aggressive (from a physical standpoint) but they are extremely aggressive from a
non physical standpoint. For example, the cunning workplace bully employs methods of deception,
misrepresentation of information and intentional misdirection of blame onto another person.
These types of deliberate acts, which are completed in an attempt to gain power, respect or
influence, in this student s opinion can be equal to the more common form of physical bullying.
Hananel (2013) reports that non physical on the job bullying can be seen as a supervisor s verbal
abuse or threats, cruel comments or relentless teasing by a co worker. Hananel (2013) also
indicates that employers list the majority of bullying incidents as verbal abuse, such as shouting,

Thornton Research Paper
An increase in the production of domestic magazines, primarily aimed at women, coincided with
the stricter expectations of female behaviour. The Lady s Magazine, in which the exposГ© of
Thornton appeared, was the first to survive any length of time. It was issued monthly and
contained news but largely consisted of poetry, sheet music and stories. Its cost made it largely an
upper class magazine, as it was the equivalent of a full day s pay of a skilled artisan. Lower class
literature too experienced a large growth in production. Street literature, including broadsides and
ballads, had long been popular since the sixteenth century and by the early nineteenth were sold in

By the early nineteenth century, newspapers were an integral part of daily life for both men and
women. Both sexes would have read about Thornton s story in the newspaper. While it is clear
that women read newspapers, the size of the female readership remains extremely unclear . It
was this female readership that the articulators of separate spheres ideology were concerned
with reaching. The basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political
life and employment was naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was
the realm of women. The conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century
was the product of fears of societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual
order became a striking metaphor . Domestic magazines and newspapers worked to create and
proliferate a baseline of acceptable behaviour for women and offered definitions of what would be
tolerated. The attempts in the print media to reflect the model behaviour for the sexes is apparent

Company Overview of Garmin
Executive Summary In a span of 5 short years, GPS manufacturer Garmin has gone from a
specialized producer of niche equipment to a Wall Street champion in 2007. Since that time, the
company has diminished into a relative has been according to many analysts. For example, in
late 2007 the Garmin stock price reached a record high of over one hundred twenty dollars a
share. However, in 2008, the stock price fell below twenty dollars a share and today the stock
rests in the mid forties after a mild recovery from the fifty two week low. This analysis looks into
the financial aspect of Garmin and draws parallels to the overall trends in the industry. Although
the company could have managed some aspects of the business better, the fall of Garmin s
financial attractiveness cannot be entirely attributed to the company itself. Company Overview
Garmin is a worldwide provider of navigation, communication, and information devices as well as
their related applications which are all associated somehow to Global Positioning System (GPS)
technology. The company offers products around the globe through subsidiary operations however
the parent organization is located in Taiwan. There are four broad categories in which individual
products within the company s product mix can be labeled; the automotive, outdoor/fitness,

Richard Samuelian Research Paper
INTRODUCTION In 1928, when he was 11 years old, Richard Samuelian lived Fresno,
California. Here in Fresno, it is usually very calm, but not when he was 11. Richard lived
through prejudice for being Armenian, being guinea pigs for teachers at school and other
things. He also did many other risky and serious things such as building boats and working on
other projects. Richard did all this and still had time to mess around with his friends.
BACKGROUND Richard Samuelian, my Grandpa, is an 89 year old Armenian man. He has
lived in Fresno, California for his entire life. In 1928, when he was 11, lived an interesting life.
Richard had 2 older brothers named Harold and Morris. Morris is currently 99 however Harold

Observing Social Behavior In Better Call Saul
Observing Social Behavior Social behavior is everywhere in society, hence why I didn t go far
to observe it. I observed social behavior by watching the first episode of Better Call Saul with no
sound, observing only the characters actions and the setting, to try and decipher the plot. By
doing this, I have gathered what I trust to be, the plot of the show. I believe it s a flashback to a
young lawyer, James McGill, trying to make it in his field. Between the struggle to make it and
presentday, something has gone wrong. He is very skittish and afraid someone is going to come
after him. We see this when he is working at his present job, as a Cinnabon employee, and a man
is staring at him. James starts panicking, you can see him gulp down his spit, he is afraid this man
is after him, but then the man goes to greet his others outside the entrance and James is relieved. He
then goes home to an empty house which is nicer than what a Cinnabon worker could afford and
then the scene changes and the flashback begins. At the time, I couldn t tell this was a flashback,
originally believing it was just another character. Throughout careful observation, I came up with
the theory of the show being a flashback of James McGill s life.
The flashback starts in a court room and the entire room of people look annoyed, as if they are
waiting for someone. The lawyer is pacing back and forth, talking to himself, showing his nerves
about the case in the men s restroom. When he finally enters the

Abstract Abnormal respiratory rate is considered to be a important predictor of conditions like
cardiac arrest, tachypnea and hypervolemia. Estimating respiration rate of an individual using non
invasive techniques such as by using Photoplethysmogram (PPG) and Electrocardiogram(ECG)
have been widely discussed and several methods have been proposed to extract respiratory rate
information from these signals. However, maintaining a high degree of accuracy in measuring
respiratory rate has been a problem. This paper uses Autoregressive Modeling (AR) technique and
digital filters to estimate respiratory rate from the PPG signal revealing that this technique has
better results in term of accuracy and computational efficiency.

Potential Non Pharmacological Interventions Pharmacological interventions is a must for patients
experiencing schizophrenia, but non pharmacological interventions are always important as well.
Non pharmacological interventions range from coping skills all the way to therapy. Other mental
disorders may not require as strenuous of interventions because the disease process is not as
dangerous. For instance, for mood disorders, exercise and eating correctly are two very easy non
pharmacological interventions a client can implement to better their disease process. With
schizophrenia it is often harder because to clients have to gain insight, and understand why they

The True Nature Of The Gladiators
Introduction
Gladiators have long been regarded as entertainers performing spectacles of great violence for an
avid audience. Many scholars debate whether the gladiators could be considered athletes due to the
stark differences between the Greek athletes of the Olympics and the Roman gladiators of the
arena. There are many myths surrounding the gladiators. Most people think that the gladiators were
savage and would fight each other to the death every time they entered the arena. Many people are
also unaware of the training that each gladiator would undergo. The virtue of the gladiators is often
brought into question because they are seen as vicious and thoughtless. In this paper, the true
nature of the gladiators will be investigated by analysing the cultural context surrounding the
definition of an athlete throughout history.

Sport, 33(1), 37 49.
The article Was the Roman Gladiator an Athlete by Heather Reid discussed the debate many
historians have regarding the nature of the events and spectacles in which Roman gladiators
typically engaged. Heather Reid has published many articles in ancient philosophy, especially as it
relates to sport and athleticism. She is a professor of philosophy at Morningside College in Iowa.
Many historians do not consider Roman gladiators to be ancient athletes. Historians classified
gladiators more as entertainers than athletes due to the fact

Ulcerative Proctitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease of the large intestine where the inner
lining of the colon becomes inflamed and develops tiny open sores, or ulcers, that produces pus or
mucous and may cause bleeding. It affects the innermost lining of the large intestine and the
rectum. The rectum is always involved in ulcerative colitis. When inflammationonly occurs in the
rectum, the disease is called ulcerative proctitis. If the inflammation extends into the upper parts of
the colon and the whole colon is involved, it is called universal proctitis or pancolitis (Christian
Novdqvist). Swelling causes the bowel to move its contents quickly and evacuate frequently. It
rarely affects the small intestine.

The most common symptoms include rectal bleeding, rectal pain, abdominal pain, and the urgency
to defecate. Symptoms include variability depending on the extent of the inflammation and its
location. Most people have periods of remission that can last weeks or years (NIDDK).
The diagnosis of this condition is insinuated by the symptoms of rectal bleeding, abdominal
bleeding, and diarrhea. The doctor must rule out other possible causes. Some tests may include a
stool test to check for infection, a blood test to reveal what the white blood cell count is, a
colonoscopy to examine the rectum and inside of the colon, and a barium enema x ray. A medical
and family history also aids in diagnosis.
There is no cure for ulcerative colitis, only medications to reduce symptoms or surgical
intervention. The type of medication depends on the seriousness of the condition. Medications help
induce and maintain remission, improve one s quality of life, and minimize the side effects and the
risk of cancer (NIDDK). Surgery is reserved for those with severe inflammation and life threatening
complications. A procedure called ileoanal anastomosis constructs a pouch from the end of the
small intestine and directly attaches it to the anus, allowing one to expel wastes normally (Mayo

Lately with the development of distributed computing, issues services that utilizes web and require
enormous amount of data come to forefront. For Organizations like Facebook and Google the web
has developed has a vast, distributed data repository for which handling by conventional DBMS is
not sufficient. Rather than extending on the hardware capabilities, a more realistic approach has
been accepted. Technically, it is an instance of scaling through dynamic adding servers from the

Dealing with this issue was more and more difficult using relational database technology.
Pioneering work from large companies generated tremendous interest and open source NoSQL

Importance Of Communication Skills In Leadership
Communication Skills and Effective Leadership
Leaders in an organization must be able to understand employee needs, recognize employee skills,
motivate employees, and communicate with employees. If leaders fail in these areas it can
become difficult to maintain a positive work environment. The issue I will address is that leaders
need to poses strong communication skills in order to be an effective leader.
Effective Leadership
Leadership is not any easy thing and being a good leader is even harder. What makes leaders
effective and sets them apart from being a leader and be and effective leader? These are issues
that come up every day in whatever your line of work is there is leadership. There are some
people that are naturally great at leadership and some people that have to learn how to be and
effective leader. As a leader you are in charge of making sure things run smoothly. There are many
different studies and journals on how and what skills are needed in order to be an effective leader
and one thing that stand out amongst all of these is that communication skills play a huge roll in a
leader effectively leading their team. Whether a team is made up of 1 person or of 500 people if the
leader isn t utilizing their communication skills then the rest of the team is going to struggle with
communication. Without communication things tend to fall apart and tend to make leaders
ineffective.

Unauthorized Practice of Law Essay
In order to complete this assignment we must first recognize what Unauthorized Practice of
Law is when it comes to paralegals. There is no set definition on what UPL is but as a paralegal
there are guidelines to go by. Some ways they can violate the practice of law would be an
individual holding themselves as an attorney when they are paralegals, giving legal advice as an
attorney would, or representing clients in a court of law. All of the previous are violations and
can be subject to several disciplinary actions [ (Unauthorized Practice of Law, 2010) ]. It has

Now this one is a bit trickier than the other. To give proper advice would be giving legal advice.
Mrs. Smith would have to know the ins and outs of divorce when it comes to adultery and Polly
legally cannot supply the answer. Once again, Polly has the responsibility to let Mrs. Smith
know that she is not a lawyer and she can t give any legal advice. Information that involves the
grounds for any law suit of any matter is considered legal advice. Although Mrs. Smith may feel
that a simple yes or no will not hurt Polly, it will. One thing Polly can do that is not UPL is to
advise Mrs. Smith to seek legal representation [ (Orlik, 2007) ]. This action can save Polly a lot
of hassles and the chance of getting disciplined. Now the reasoning behind prohibiting the
unauthorized practice of law is not to hurt lawyers and anyone legally practicing law. These
were put into place to help from personally damaging cases and individuals alike. What if you
were given advice and used it to help with your case. Then come to find out that this advice or
information was not at all correct and cost you your case. You would be very adamant to return to
the individual to find out what had happened. Then you also find out that this person was not
legally able to practice law in any manner. You would be furious and would want this person to pay
for his/her actions. This is an example of why it is very important why someone that is not

Film Analysis Of Six Degrees Of Separation
The ways in which we learn and understand the world come from the ways we receive
information and how we choose to exist in the world. In Six Degrees of Separation, Paul forces
his way into the lives of upper class white families and reveals the hegemonic social
stratifications that dominate their lives. The literary point of view, how the story is revealed, is
significantly different in the film adaptation to concentrate on the systemic ways people create
relationships with each other and how race, gender, sexuality, and class actively drive the ways
people are able to exist. The film adaptation, Six Degrees of Separation, uses a different literary
point of view than the play to emphasize the social stratifications that exist within the story. The
film, rather than using multiple first person point of view and breaking the fourth wall like in the
play, uses multiple third person point of view. In this way, the story is mostly revealed to the
audience through the telling of the story to the other people that the Kittredges interact with. The
relationships that the Kittredges have are dominated by other people who are just like them, white
and wealthy; this is what accentuates the theme of social stratification. At the end of the play,
Ouisa says, And we turn [Paul] into an anecdote to dine out on. Or dine in on. But it was an
experience. I will not turn him into an anecdote. How do we keep the experience? (Guare, 117). In

Justice Penny White of Tennessee, lost her retention election in 1996 after the Tennessee
Conservative Union campaigned against her, saying she was soft on crime and capital

America Needs Greater Voter Participation Essay
Government and Politics America Needs Greater Voter Participation
We may live in a country that encourages voting in political elections, yet the level of voter turnout
in America is relatively small and continues to decline. Compared to other countries with
democratic governments, the United States falls very near the bottom of the list with its percentage
of voter participation. One explanation for this disturbing phenomenon states that the American
system requires more effort from voters, asking them to participate in more elections for more
levels of government with more elective offices at each level than any other country in the world
(Schudson 159). In most other democracies, the citizens may be asked to vote only 2 or 3 ... Show

This encourages the formation of several parties to represent specific interests and generally, the
wider the selection, the higher the turnout rate (Edwards, Wattenber, and Lineberry 208). For
example, the American presidential election of 1992, when Ross Perot ran as the candidate for the
Reform Party, turnout levels increased (Teixeira 149).
The threat of large, influential socialist parties in many European democracies increase their
incentive to vote. When the decision has to be made between conservative or socialist control of
the government, the consequences for redistribution of income and the scope of government are far
greater than the ordinary American voter can conceive of (Edwards, Wattenberg, and Lineberry
246).
Some countries manufacture incentives by imposing fines on those eligible voters who do not
show up at the polls. Most Americans would consider an imposition of this sort extremely
undemocratic. If such a thing were attempted in America, I believe that we would see the highest
levels of turnout ever in an election, but only long enough to vote that proposition down, and
exercise the power of recall on every elected official that supported it in the first place!
Another explanation for the differences between American turnout and

Doll House
In A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen, a woman named Nora is facing a life altering situation that
stands to both ruin her social and private life. In dealing with the potential outcomes of the
scenario, Nora comes to find that she has been living a convenient mistruth. Nora s greatest and
most damaging lies are lies she tells to herself.
As is seen numerous times throughout the play, Nora hides, withholds, and distorts the truth in
order to please everyone around her, including herself. Nora is presented almost immediately as a
person of questionable character, wherein the first scene she conceals from Torvald having eaten
macaroons. Torvald says to Nora Not even a bite at a macaroon? after suggesting she had been to
the confectionaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This false reality is damaging her ability to be honest, trustworthy and reliable.
Nora s false reality is partially created because she never forms an opinion of her own. Nora is
always afraid of having an opinion because it will disrupt or upset her husband. Nora s life as an
adult is stunted because she isn t her own person. Nora states that when I was at home with papa,
he told me his opinion about everything, and so I had the same opinions; and if I differed from
him I concealed the fact, because he would not have liked it (III.141) and that I was simply
transferred from papa s hands into yours. You arranged everything according to your own taste,
and so I got the same tastes as your else I pretended to (III. 142). Nora is a woman made to be a
doll, and she plays the role with lies and misdeeds. Nora again demonstrates the lack of opinion.
Nora s life as a deceptive doll is further showcased by the dangerous decisions she makes. Nora
takes out a fraudulent loan against her father s name because she wants something and cannot have
it. Nora realizes the burden her actions can put against her father s name and she realizes the legal
action that can result from fraud. Krogstad, Nora s lender states but did it never occur to you that
you were committing a fraud on me? (II.52). Nora replies that I couldn t take that into account; I
didn t trouble myself about you at all (II.52). Again, when Nora is presented with an opportunity to
make a poor choice

Antisocial Personality Theory vs. Social Structure Theory...
Criminology is the scientific study of knowledge in which crime is considered as a social
happening. The study of Criminology includes the ways and methods of breaking laws, making
laws and social/media/cultural reactions of the society to crime. There have been many theories as
to why people commit crime, no one can decide on just one theory to explain this. Two popular
theories as to why people commit crime are antisocial personality theory and social structure theory.
The aspects behind these theories make the most reliable sense as to why people commit the crimes
that they do.
Antisocial personality theory is a combination of traits, such as hyperactivity, impulsivity,
hedonism, and inability to empathize with others, that make a ... Show more content on

It is stated that psychopaths are thrill seekers that engage in high risk antisocial behavior just to
raise their neurological arousal level.
Psychopaths possibly have brain abnormalities which cause them to process emotions much
differently than someone that is not a psychopath. With considering these personality traits, it is
not shocking that researchers have shown that people diagnosed as a psychopath are more likely
to engage in criminal and also violent behavior compared to people consider non psychopathic. It
is known that psychopaths keep going on with their criminal careers long after others have aged
out of their criminal behavior. Psychopaths are continuously in trouble and are more likely to end
up in the penal institutions. Once these prisoners are released, they are three times more likely to
re offend in a year and four more times likely to re offend violently, compared to non psychopaths.
Antisocial personality disorder is highly unresponsive to any form of treatment, main reason why
is because people that have ASPD rarely ever seek treatment on their own. If an individual does
decide to seek help, it is usually to find a relief from their depression or emotional distress.
Although there are medications that are effective in treating some of the symptoms of the disorder,
noncompliance with medication regimens or abuse of the drugs prevents the widespread use of
these medications. ( Mental Disorders. ). The most successful treatment for people

Sixth Grade Narrative
Sixth grade was possibly the worst year of my life. There were so many fights and I moved for the
last time. I never had any real friends until sixth grade because my mother moved me around so
much. I moved from place to place, got robbed a few times. My life was pretty eventful. I started
sixth grade in another school, before Reeds Brook, and I didn t fit in anywhere in my old school, so
I was by myself a lot of the time. Soon, every summer i came to see my dad, he lived in Hampden
and spoiled me with money because my mothernever did. Soon I became Damaged in my mother s

Research Paper On Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Queen Elizabeth II might be one of the most influential monarchs living today in this era of the
democratic states. With her rule over the Commonwealth Nations lasting for over fifty years, the
Queen has been very much popular with the public, not just in Great Britain or amongst the
Commonwealth Nations, but also amongst all the nations of the world.
The Queen s life might have only begun as the first child to the Duke and Duchess of York, but
instantly she came into attention of the nation with her strong bond with the then head of state,
King George V, who was also Elizabeth s grandfather. The qualities of Elizabeth had been
exemplary from the very start. Although a little mischievous as a child, Elizabeth was quite
mannered, polite and respectful.
After her father, King George VI, was crowned, Elizabeth became the natural successor to the
throne. With this face, a sense of responsibility arose within her, making her more active towards
the matters of national interest. She had already become famous amongst the public with her very
first broadcast to console, strengthen and assure the war stricken children of the nation. Her efforts
to assist the country in the tome of war showed her courage, bravery and love for the nation and its
people.
After her marriage with Duke of Edinburgh and then replacing her deceased father as the head of
the state, Elizabeth had shown immense maturity as she kept working tirelessly to uphold the

An Essay On Cheer Research Paper
I have always believed that joining cheer was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Cheer
has always been a big part of my life; from practices to competitions I have always been kept
busy by it. I can always go to practice and forget about everything else going on in my life. My
coaches and teammates have always had my back and my best interest in mind. Cheer was a safe
haven where only my team and our success mattered. All was good for about four seasons; my
team and i had one most of our competitions and had three national titles under our belt. The next
season, which would be my last since i was in eighth grade, our old coaches had left and many of
the girls had moved onto high school. Now left with a new team, the new coaches had

Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States
The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be
required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the
idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the
United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address
the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual
because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in
order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after
the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set
by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it
changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that
our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality
of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than
human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that
everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of
this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our
constitution, the cruel and

When Deathless Sparknotes
When Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente begins, Marya Morevna is a child at the window,
watching as birds fall miraculously out of a tree only to turn into husbands for her sisters and
carry them off on the eve of revolution. When Deathless ends, Marya Morevna has given birth to
a child of her own, whose entry cracks open the egg of safety she has been concealed in and
foreshadows the onset of another impossible war, an age where we are all dead. All equal.
Broken and aimless and believing we are alive (Valente 343). Deathless, however, is not simply
the story of one woman s suffering and survival indeed, Valente portrays Marya as Russia itself, a
nation whose historical and cultural cycle and identity is paralleled by Marya s own journey.... Show

On the one side is before, and on the other side is after, and what is inside belongs only to dead
(270). Marya bleeds and Russia bleeds and the men die in the millions. It s practically what they
re for (244). Ivan, real, flesh and bone, mortal Ivan, grows increasingly despondent as the war
drags on and the hunger sets in, and his brutal, selfish, human qualities are revived as he accuses
Marya of hording food. Russia Leningrad, Stalingrad, all the great cities that sit on the border of
Russian freedom and German occupation starves as well. In the winter of 1941, after the rats and
birds and other wretched beasts have been eaten, cases of cannibalism occur as the citizens of
Leningrad grow ever more hopeless in their struggle to survive the war. Russia is on the verge of

  • 2. Japanese Yen The And Monetary Regimes Japanese YEN and Monetary Regimes Wall Street Journal author Chelsey Dulaney, discusses the appreciation of the Japanese YEN (ВҐ) and its impact on its own economy and foreign investors. For the past quarter, the USD was the strongest amongst its competitors until it fell about 0.1% to ВҐ 108.1. However, as frequently described within the article, there are no signs of slowing growth for the YEN and Japanese government officials are now proposing a plan that will halt the YEN s growth. Factors that are contributing to this hike include investors placing safe haven assets within the country and general worries about the overall health of the global economy. Despite plans for future intervention, Japan recently implemented monetary policy changes during the first half of the year. Japan hoped that by lowering interest rates in the negatives, it will encourage economic growth, making exports globally competitive. However, despite these changes, Japan s economy is in dire need of growth stimulation and most foreign strategists believe that Japan will not implement any changes until they are essentially cutting it close , keeping in mind that Japan is still in a recession. Strategist, Merill Lynch for Bank of America claims that Japan will most likely act when YEN falls down to ВҐ100, a figure that has not been seen since 2013. After careful analysis and further research, the Japanese YEN is an incredibly recent and remarkable example of the way international monetary regimes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Case Study on Nucor Corp Case 2: Nucor Corporation: Competing Against Low cost Steel Imports The Company, Nucor Corporation, started its operation in nuclear instrument and electronics business in early 1950s to early 1960s. Facing bankruptcy, the board of directors opted for a new leadership and appointed Kenneth Iverson as president and CEO. He concluded that to be able to avert bankruptcy is to exit the nuclear instrument and electronics business and rebuild the company around its subsidiary, Vulcraft, which is engaged in steeljoist business. These strategies have been very effective in terms of expanding its resources as well as conceptualization of new technology (using electric arc furnace as alternative to conventional furnace) and improvement of plant efficiency thru equipment upgrades. The usage of the technology has allowed low investment cost for facilities and equipment that eliminated expensive steps in steel making. Also the use of scrap materials has lessened the purchase of ore for steel making. Furthermore, joint ventures have given them option to join global market of steel producers. However, Nucor should be also wary on possible entrants that could offer low cost steel which might be a reason for a loss of customers which in turn loose potential income and worst cut jobs. Steel, being a commodity that is dictated by market demand, has been changing continually. But being a low cost provider, it has resulted to numerous customers entering into non cancellable contracts. • 6. Human Beings Have a Right to Die Essay Do people have the right to die? Is there, in fact, a right to die? Assisted suicide is a controversial topic in the public eye today. Individuals choose their side of the controversy based on a number of variables ranging from their religious views and moral standings to political factors. Several aspects of this issue have been examined in books, TV shows, movies, magazine articles, and other means of bringing the subject to the attention of the public. However, perhaps the best way to look at this issue in the hopes of understanding the motives behind those involved is from the perspective of those concerned: the terminally ill and the disabled. Instead, you are left to lie in bed day after day, unable to use anything but your mind. Once having a mere glimpse into the lives of the terminally ill or disabled, some are able to understand their plight; but usually most are not. In most cases, these people are able to take what they ve been given and deal with it. However, in some cases, some simply can not tolerate their lives as they are. They feel that the only solution to their problem is to end their lives. Unfortunately, in some cases, the terminally ill or disabled are not capable of accomplishing this task by themselves, and are left trapped in a life that they do not want. In these cases, when one wishes to end his life and is terminally ill, disabled, or otherwise unable to do so independently, he should have the right to die by assisted suicide. Although most people that are terminally ill or disabled do not wish to end their lives, there are still those few who do. While examining the issue of assisted suicide, three facets of the controversy must be considered: the political, the moral, and the human or compassionate views. The similarities and differences between client centered and psychodynamic therapies are: Client centered therapy: An approach to counseling where the client determines the general direction of therapy, while the therapist seeks to increase the client s insightful self understanding through informal simplified questions. The client is the focal point of the sessions, the therapist takes a back seat to learn about the person, and watch as the client moves toward the achievement of their full potential through creativity. They are both based on empathy, acceptance and understanding providing ways of responding to a wide range of human needs and providing opportunities for those seeking help to work towards ways of living in more satisfying and resourceful ways. • 8. Opcracy In The Friar s Tale Karl Marx famously called religion the opiate of the masses (par. 4). There is no denying that many people derive comfort, purpose, and meaning from religion. However, it is equally true that throughout history, religion has been used frequently as a tool to oppress the poor and uneducated. In fourteenth century England, where abuses of clerical power were rampant, members of the clergy preyed upon the fears of the masses in order to fill their own coffers. In The Friar s Tale, Geoffrey Chaucer criticizes the clergy by revealing how they used the repressive ideology of religion to oppress and exploit the working class in a highly class conscious society. Medieval English society was highly classist. The population was divided into three socioeconomic classes, or estates: those who governed/fought, those who prayed, and those who worked. • 9. The Use of Biometrics in Forensic Science 1. Biometric Applications In recent years there have been heightened concerns about security due to the advancements of networking, communications, and mobility. This has led to the increase in biometrics in different applications for authentication and identification. The applications can be divided into 3 main groups Forensics, Government and Commercial (Jain, Flynn Ross, 2008). 1.1 Forensics The use of biometrics in forensics has been used for a long time. Usage of fingerprints as an identifier has been used to link suspected criminals to the crime scene by collecting fingerprints then comparing it. Nowadays as computer technology has become more available. Large Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) are used to match unknown fingerprints against a database. Today AFIS is used in every law enforcement agencies worldwide. It is important to note that the AFIS may not give the exact result of the candidate but a short list of potential suspects. A forensic specialist would then be required to examine the prints. Biometric data can also be used for victim identification based off characteristics of the human remains. This can be achieved by physical evidence. This includes soft biometrics such as height, gender, color of skin etc. Specific characteristics such as scars, tattoos, moles, can also be useful if matched with the ante mortem. Genetic identification can also be used to compare DNA with the victims suspected family s DNA. This could be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Properties of Hydrostatics Three containers are filled with water to the same height and have the same surface area at the base: hence the water pressure and total force on the base of each is the same. Yet the total weight of the water is different for each. Explain this hydrostatic paradox The key to this problem is that the force on a container due to the hydrostatic pressure is always perpendicular to the surface of the water. According to Newton s 3rd law, the container will push back on the water in the exact opposite direction, also perpendicular to the surface of the container Consider what happens when you push both a pin and the blunt end of a pen against your skin with the same force. Decide what determines whether your skin is cut. The net force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Will an empty balloon have precisely the same apparent weight on a scale as a balloon filled with air? Explain. If air is incompressible, then yes.The full balloon will have more weight (more downward force), due to the mass of the air in the balloon. The full balloon will also have an upward buoyant force on it, equal to the weight of the air displaced by the balloon. Since the balloon is both containing air and floating in air, the weight of the air inside the balloon is the same magnitude as the buoyant force. Filled balloon has a higher apparent density compared to empty balloon. IF you dangle 2 pieces of paper vertically a few inches apart and blow between then, how do you think the papers will move? The papers will move toward each other. Bernoulli s principle says that as the speed of the gas flow increases, the pressure decreases (when there is no appreciable change in height). So as the air passes between the papers, the air pressure between the papers is lowered. The air pressure on the outside of the papers is then greater than that between the papers, and so the papers are pushed together. Children are told to avoid standing too close to a rapidly moving train because they might get sucked in under it. Is this possible? Explain. It is possible. Due to viscosity, some of the air near the train will be pulled along at a speed approximately that of the train. By Bernoulli s principle, that air will be at a lower pressure than air further ... • 13. The Pains Of Sleep By Robert Southey Essay The couplets encompass the odd tension of The Pains of Sleep : the ending is both over long, extending the natural length of the stanza by an additional two lines, and abrupt, answering the universal despair of wherefore fall on me? with an admittedly lacklustre response. The insistent repetition such , wherefore , love furthers the resounding resolution of the poem. Coleridge s draft of the poem in a letter to Robert Southey suggests that there is potential for movement beyond the declaration of the last line, for he affixes c c c c c onto the end of the line, and whilst a large portion of the draft is altered for its publication in 1816, this line remains untouched. Perhaps the clue is in one of the lines from The Pains of Sleep which is altered for its 1816 publication but exists in the draft version sent to Southey as well: The self created Hell within. (Letter to Robert Southey, September 12 1803.) The unfathomable Hell within. ( The Pains of Sleep , line 46.) The poem can be seen as a verbal translation of the self created Hell within : whilst the poem is structurally contained, the unfathomable interior world it describes, and the claustrophobic blending of reality and unreality, all contribute to it seeming incomplete upon interrogation. Coleridge rejects the universal question in favour of a personal answer because the poem cannot adequately make sense of the distorted images it contains. Unlike ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was the promise and the realization of Henry Ford, who created the Model T for the common man. Henry Ford is one of the most significant people in American history because he revolutionized the automobileindustry in the United States, he revolutionized mass production and the assembly line, and he revolutionized the economy with production of the Model T. The main reason Ford paid his workers this wage was to be sure his employees could buy his product. If Ford were to never introduce this wage to his employees, they would not have been able to buy his cars. Known as the most dramatic event in the history of wages Henry Ford increased the wages to $5.00 and reduced the work day by 90 minutes (Dunn, et al.). This book discusses the difference that the power that superior people have compared the the weak and poor. Nietzsche exemplifies how the powerful seem to forget about issues that do not pertain to themselves where as the weak fight for the issues (Nietzsche, 2007, pp 14). The Canadian government has continually entered indigenous protected land to have diamond, gold, and oil mines, as well as run oil pipelines. These operations have given the Canadian government billions of profits. Unfortunately, only little of that profit gained by the Canadian government is given to the aboriginal peoples. I believe that that the fact that the Canadian government is profiting off of illegal activity and not sharing a large portion of the profits with the rightful owners of the resources is wrong. This action and lack of respect for the law goes directly against Nietzsche s idea of utilitarianism. Nietzsche describes the idea of utilitarianism as involving how we ought to be made of finer stuff than Utilitarianism (Lecture, 2016). He describes it as a pursuit of pleasure and good that has a positive and maximized effect for the majority of people (Lecture, 2016). This idea is how indigenous people live their life. They live their life so that the future generations can use the same land as they used it. The basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political life and employment was naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was the realm of women. The conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century was the product of fears of societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual order became a striking metaphor . By doing this, I have gathered what I trust to be, the plot of the show. I believe it s a flashback to a young lawyer, James McGill, trying to make it in his field. In Six Degrees of Separation, Paul forces his way into the lives of upper class white families and reveals the hegemonic social stratifications that dominate their lives. The literary point of view, how the story is revealed, is significantly different in the film adaptation to concentrate on the systemic ways people create relationships with each other and how race, gender, sexuality, and class actively drive the ways people are able to exist. The film adaptation, Six Degrees of Separation, uses a different literary point of view than the play to emphasize the social stratifications that exist within the story. In this way, the story is mostly revealed to the audience through the telling of the story to the other people that the Kittredges interact with. The relationships that the Kittredges have are dominated by other people who are just like them, white and wealthy; this is what accentuates the theme of social stratification. A retention election is beneficial because it eliminates Justices that feel pity or emotion towards cases and/or people. Justice White for example ordered a new death sentence hearing for the case of State v. Odom and was knocked off the bench in a retention election because of her decision. This retention election process is beneficial because it allows citizens to retain judges who are doing significantly. It also allows us as citizens to vote off Judges who we think are doing poorly or do not represent us as a whole. Justice Penny White... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The implications of a governor targeting this Justice were because she was soft on punishment. The Republican governor as well as the senators opposed her ( Vile 2003 ). Justice White said that the Chief Justice wanted to fill her spot with someone in his party (Denver Bar Association). All the signs of putting someone on death row were there but she preferred not too affirm the death penalty that was imposed in accordance with the law. In this case of State V. Odom (Vile 2003), the people did not like the decision in which Justice White made so she lost in a hotly contest in which voted turnout was a negligible 55 percent. Justice Penny White was not the person the citizen of Tennessee wanted representing them, when it was time for retention election over half ( 55% ) of the citizen voted her off.The reason there is penalty for committing a crime is to deter people from committing the same act again. If you don t be hard on crime then the crime rate will continue to be on the rise . The citizen wanted someone to represent on behalf of themselves and Justice Penny White was not that person. • 41. America Needs Greater Voter Participation Essay Government and Politics America Needs Greater Voter Participation We may live in a country that encourages voting in political elections, yet the level of voter turnout in America is relatively small and continues to decline. Compared to other countries with democratic governments, the United States falls very near the bottom of the list with its percentage of voter participation. One explanation for this disturbing phenomenon states that the American system requires more effort from voters, asking them to participate in more elections for more levels of government with more elective offices at each level than any other country in the world (Schudson 159). In most other democracies, the citizens may be asked to vote only 2 or 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This encourages the formation of several parties to represent specific interests and generally, the wider the selection, the higher the turnout rate (Edwards, Wattenber, and Lineberry 208). For example, the American presidential election of 1992, when Ross Perot ran as the candidate for the Reform Party, turnout levels increased (Teixeira 149). The threat of large, influential socialist parties in many European democracies increase their incentive to vote. When the decision has to be made between conservative or socialist control of the government, the consequences for redistribution of income and the scope of government are far greater than the ordinary American voter can conceive of (Edwards, Wattenberg, and Lineberry 246). Some countries manufacture incentives by imposing fines on those eligible voters who do not show up at the polls. Most Americans would consider an imposition of this sort extremely undemocratic. If such a thing were attempted in America, I believe that we would see the highest levels of turnout ever in an election, but only long enough to vote that proposition down, and exercise the power of recall on every elected official that supported it in the first place! Another explanation for the differences between American turnout and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This false reality is damaging her ability to be honest, trustworthy and reliable. Nora s false reality is partially created because she never forms an opinion of her own. Nora is always afraid of having an opinion because it will disrupt or upset her husband. Nora s life as an adult is stunted because she isn t her own person. Nora states that when I was at home with papa, he told me his opinion about everything, and so I had the same opinions; and if I differed from him I concealed the fact, because he would not have liked it (III.141) and that I was simply transferred from papa s hands into yours. You arranged everything according to your own taste, and so I got the same tastes as your else I pretended to (III. 142). Nora is a woman made to be a doll, and she plays the role with lies and misdeeds. Nora again demonstrates the lack of opinion. Nora s life as a deceptive doll is further showcased by the dangerous decisions she makes. Nora takes out a fraudulent loan against her father s name because she wants something and cannot have it. Nora realizes the burden her actions can put against her father s name and she realizes the legal action that can result from fraud. Krogstad, Nora s lender states but did it never occur to you that you were committing a fraud on me? (II.52). Nora replies that I couldn t take that into account; I didn t trouble myself about you at all (II.52). Again, when Nora is presented with an opportunity to make a poor choice ... • 44. Antisocial Personality Theory vs. Social Structure Theory... Criminology is the scientific study of knowledge in which crime is considered as a social happening. The study of Criminology includes the ways and methods of breaking laws, making laws and social/media/cultural reactions of the society to crime. There have been many theories as to why people commit crime, no one can decide on just one theory to explain this. Two popular theories as to why people commit crime are antisocial personality theory and social structure theory. The aspects behind these theories make the most reliable sense as to why people commit the crimes that they do. Antisocial personality theory is a combination of traits, such as hyperactivity, impulsivity, hedonism, and inability to empathize with others, that make a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is stated that psychopaths are thrill seekers that engage in high risk antisocial behavior just to raise their neurological arousal level. Psychopaths possibly have brain abnormalities which cause them to process emotions much differently than someone that is not a psychopath. With considering these personality traits, it is not shocking that researchers have shown that people diagnosed as a psychopath are more likely to engage in criminal and also violent behavior compared to people consider non psychopathic. It is known that psychopaths keep going on with their criminal careers long after others have aged out of their criminal behavior. Psychopaths are continuously in trouble and are more likely to end up in the penal institutions. Once these prisoners are released, they are three times more likely to re offend in a year and four more times likely to re offend violently, compared to non psychopaths. Antisocial personality disorder is highly unresponsive to any form of treatment, main reason why is because people that have ASPD rarely ever seek treatment on their own. If an individual does decide to seek help, it is usually to find a relief from their depression or emotional distress. Although there are medications that are effective in treating some of the symptoms of the disorder, noncompliance with medication regimens or abuse of the drugs prevents the widespread use of these medications. • 48. Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our constitution, the cruel and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Valente begins, Marya Morevna is a child at the window, watching as birds fall miraculously out of a tree only to turn into husbands for her sisters and carry them off on the eve of revolution. When Deathless ends, Marya Morevna has given birth to a child of her own, whose entry cracks open the egg of safety she has been concealed in and foreshadows the onset of another impossible war, an age where we are all dead. All equal. Broken and aimless and believing we are alive (Valente 343).
