3. Summary of ideas
• Magazine name: MM (music matters) I have decided on the name music matters because it is simple just
like the name ‘MOJO’ however it is still showing the importance of Music and the Magazine.
• GENRE: The genre of my magazine is going to be Classic rock, as my magazine of inspiration’s genre
is also classic rock.
• Content: facts and information about artists, facts about there music, latest in classic rock…
• Artists: Rolling Stones, ACDC, Iron maiden, Guns and roses etc.
• Colour scheme: Black, red and white. I have chosen these colours for my magazine because most classic
rock artists have used black, red or white for there logos, for example Kerrang, Mojo and Q magazine,
Therefore it fits in with the genre of music.
• Form and style: Dimensions of the magazine–210mm x 290mm, I have chosen the dimensions of my
magazine to be 210mm x 290mm as these are the dimensions of Mojo magazine.
• Target audience: The target audience for my magazine is classic rock fans, 18+ as classic rock is more of
a mature genre of music apposed to pop.
6. Mood Board conclusions
• From my mood board I have discovered that the colours, red, black, yellow and
white are very popular in classic rock therefore they are the colours I will feature in
my magazine.
• Secondly My mood board shows that the stereotypical classic rock fans are people
who like to live their lives based around rebellion, alcohol, sex, and drugs, commonly
bikers.
• My mood board has shown me examples of artists to select for my magazine, for
example some of the ones shown on my mood boards are – the rolling stones,
ACDC, kiss, guns and roses.
• From my mood board I can tell that classic rock fans are mainly male and aged 35+
as most photographs of the artists are black and white, suggesting the artists are
significantly old themselves, therefore not many of the younger generation will know
about them.
• Also I can see that the main fans of classic rock are male as the colour scheme on
my mood board collected from classic rock artists isn’t very feminine and the
rebellious behaviour shown on my mood board isn’t very “lady like”.
• Another observation that gives me reason to believe that most classic rock fans are
male is because there are no female artists shown on my mood board suggesting that
women aren’t into classic rock as much as men.
• Also the men shown on the mood boards are all partially scruffy, unlike the typical
boy band women tend to go for.
7. Magazine Ideas

red, because most
classic rock artist
have used black and
red for there logos.
Therefore it fits in
with the theme

my masthead• In
order for me to get
some really cool and
bold fonts I am going
to use dafont.com. I
am hoping I will find
some fonts that I like
and suits will with my
title name and the
genre I have chosen
(indie/pop). The
fonts on the
computer are fine but
for me to archive and
make my magazine
look like a music
magazine I would
need to use
something else. Here
are some fonts that I
liked and that suited
the genre.

9. Masthead – Final Idea
I have chosen the Name ‘MM’ ( music matters ) as I want my magazine to show the
importance of music and the magazine as music plays a big part in everyday life.
I have chosen the chosen to use white text on a black background as it makes the text
stand out from the background.
Also I have used a simple but bold font much like my magazine of inspiration (mojo
magazine) as if the font were to be too over the top it would draw attention away from
the images and content, be too overpowering and possibly tacky.

14. Conclusion
I will most likely use my second hand drawn
drafts for my magazine as I feel they meet the
target audience better than the first, Also I
feel like it catches the audiences eye better
than the first one due to its “free CD”
promotion.
I feel like the 2nd hand drawn draft is suitable
to compete with mojo magazine due to its
similarity in content.
