The Effect Of A Us Recovery
A2: Global Interdependency
A: Effects of a US Recovery
Introduction
In this paper, we analyse the effects of cheaper energy in the US that could spur the total productivity
growth in the country. We also intend to understand how the US central bank and the government tend
to behave regarding to the higher total factor productivity, and how the rest of the world and the major
economies are affected. We have used some diagrams of macroeconomics theories to estimate the
outcomes by running the software called RunGem.
Assumption
The main assumption that we made in our model is both the nominal wage in the labour market and all
the coefficients of Cobb Douglas production stay constant. In the first case of our model, we assume

Since the net foreign investment function is a function of investment minus the total domestic saving,
the net foreign investment decreases due to the increase in the total saving. As a result, the NFI curve
shifts to the left.
(b) The foreign exchange market
When the level of household income rises, people will tend to consume more foreign goods, and thus
the net import curve shifts upwards. The current account deficit contracts due to a reduced amount of
capital account surplus in the financial market. Since, as shown in the figure below, the new
equilibrium is higher than the initial equilibrium point, and this implies the real rate depreciation in the
economy.
(c) The money market
The money demand curve shifted upwards as a result of the higher output in the economy. However,
the interest rate decreased in response to the lower real rate of return, therefore the money supply
curve shifted to the right to reach the new equilibrium. Since, in this case, the central bank is using the
price level targeting; the money supply must increase as following the macroeconomics theory. The
expansion of money supply in the US is around 7.35% and this is comparatively higher than in all
other countries.
(d) The labour market
As we observed a drop in the unemployment rate of the US by 17.7%, the increase in the total factor
productivity increases the marginal product of labour for each

Summary Of Letter To Ron
A) As stated in a letter that Chris wrote to Ron, he believes that pure happiness comes from
experiencing new things. The way he was living was something he couldn t accept any longer. He
didn t feel at home when he was home anymore. The only way to satisfy his want for new experiences
was to venture into the wild. This want is also fed by the writings of his favorite authors including
Tolstoy and Thoreau.
B) Chris was raised in a comfortable upper class household. His parents did everything they could for
him including giving him a good education, and positive attention throughout his childhood. Chris
became resentful towards his family once he discovered that his father had a child with his former
wife. Chris was baffled by this news and

The Battle Of Fort Wagner
The Battle of Fort Wagner consisted of two battles the second being the most deadly and the most
famous of the battles. There were several events and terrain features that cost the Union these battles
during the attempted siege of Fort Wagner. Even though the Battles were a complete loss there s
several things that came from the battles that had lasting impacts on the war and America.
The Union Army wanted to destroy Fort Sumter to allow the Union Navy access to Charleston Harbor
so they Navy could attack the city directly. Before the Union could wage an attack on Fort Sumter
they had to destroy Fort Wagner so they could gain control of the Fort bombard and destroy Fort

Putnam. In the battle of Fort Wagner Gillmore also worked closely with Rear Adm. John A. Dahlgren
s Federal fleet.
The first battle of Fort Wagner took place early morning on July 10th and 11th, 1863, where the Union
Army began with an amphibious assault from the south which drove all Confederate forces back to
Fort Wagner. During this battle the Union Army captured 150 Confederate soldiers. Some historians
speculate that Fort Wagner could have possibly been destroyed if Gillmore wouldn t have rested that
day of the 10th when he drove the Confederates back to the Fort. Because Gillmore rested after the
first battle it gave Taliaferro more time to reinforce the Fort for the following day where the
Confederate army repelled an attack against the 7th Connecticut infantry. This mistake cost the Union
army 330 men and the Confederate side only lost 12 men.
At 8:15am on July 18, 1863 the second battle of Fort Wagner commenced. It was initiated by four
federal land batteries and the Federal Fleet that shelled from the sea using 11 ships to include the USS
New Ironsides, a veritable floating gun platform sheathed in iron. The Confederate soldiers incased all
14 cannons in sandbags hoping they would last the unrelenting shelling of the Federal Fleet, which
hurled shells at the Fort weighing up to 400 pounds. The Confederate men retreated to the belly of the
Fort where they held out the shelling suffering zero casualties and amazingly loosing few

Types Of Courtly Performance During The Modern Court
In the early modern court, the illusion of power could be just as important as power itself. If courtiers
participated in the various performances of the court, they had the potential to gain significant
amounts of influence and prestige. These types of courtly performances were shared by monarchs,
courtiers and lesser figures albeit in sometimes very distinct manners. This performance of the court
consisted of various different aspects, including: associating with influential individuals, royal
ceremonies, courtliness, and bodily performance. One type of courtly performance, which was
primarily a concern of the courtiers and lesser court figures, was the association and ingratiation of
one s self with influential court figures in order to gain status and respect. This was a performance in
that courtiers were, in a way, required to form relationships on the basis of status and in the court
friends were primarily a tool to advance one s standing in the court. A prime example of this is
William Chiffinch the Page of the Backstairs of Charles II s court. A man of humble origins, Chiffinch
was able to rise to a position of significant power and influence through his connection to a powerful
individual, the king. Like many of Charles II s household servants... Chiffinch had begun this intimacy
with the king before the Restoration. He and his elder brother, Thomas, had been introduced to the
Prince of Wales and Charles I s Oxford camp by Bishop Duppa of Salisbury (Allen

Religion Is A Spiritual Way Of Life
Religion is a spiritual way of life that tells you how to act in this life and ultimately affects life after
death. It is something that is completely faith based because there is no way to prove whether or not it
is real. It doesn t matter what religion you choose to follow; it is imperative to have an understanding
of other religions of the world. The knowledge of other religions gives you the understanding needed
to not be afraid of the unknown. A great example of this is after 9 11, our country was full of fear.
Anyone who looked like they were Muslim was a target of this fear. Most people were not educated
about the Islamic religion but if they had been they would have known that it did not condone
violence. It was an extremely radical group who did not represent the Muslims as a whole.
The knowledge of other religions is beneficial in your everyday interactions with people or when you
are traveling. I grew up all around the world and one thing I did learn was that when you are in a
foreign country, they appreciate when you try to learn and do their customs in their homes. While I did
not grow up in India, I did spend three years in a small borrow outside of London, England where I
met many Hindus. I was only eight years old when I met Pia. We became best friends quickly but it
was going to her house to play that I learned her family was different from mine. I had to take off my
shoes before entering her house, which was full of exotic fragrances. They had a little

Essay on Jet Blue
Jet Blue has an opportunity to remain cutting edge in the airline industry by continuing to be low cost
and expanding carrier. A great market for Jet Blue to expand to would be towards the Caribbean s. As
well as possibly lobbying Washington to lift travel sanctions in Cuba, which at one point was a major
vacation getaway for Americans. This opportunity fits into Jet Blues current business model of short
distance flights at a lower cost than the competition.
Jet Blue is a shinning star in the gloomy airline industry. Jet Blue has been showing great earnings and
growth since its incorporation in 2000. Jet Blue uses innovative strategies to further their success in a

Along with reducing the amount of middlemen customers have to deal with, added to his reduced
expense structure which in turn proved to be cost effective.
David Neeleman originally worked for South West Airlines and helped increase there business, but
wanted to venture out on his own. Neelemen experienced set backs because his prior employer made
him sign a no compete contract for five years. During those five years Neeleman was able to complete
a solid business plan, which would use South West Airlines business model but with better marketing
strategies
Jet Blue was built on a strong foundation with experienced and knowledgeable people making
decisions. Neeleman felt that certain key employees needed to be put in place to have this organization
grow the way it has. So a solid team was put in place and the machine has been oiled. In order for Jet
Blue to have obtained such a significant market they needed unique marketing. Jet Blue approached
and targeted specific markets which they serviced with certain marketing incentives.
Jet Blue set up its main head quarters in New York s JFK which is one of the biggest airports in the
world. This was a strategic plan due to the lack of domestic flights going in and out of JFK, that
minimized there competition which allowed them to continue on a path which led them to there
success. Through targeting specific markets and concentrating their efforts on those markets they

What Is The Purpose Of Romantic Poems By Wordsworth
LYRICAL BALLADS, A EXPERIMENT
SULAIM SARFRAZ
In the Advertisement included in the 1798 edition of the lyrical ballads, Wordsworth explained why
this project of his was an experiment
The majority of the following poems are to be considered as experiments. They were written chiefly
with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower classes of
society is adapted to the purpose of poetic pleasure. (Lyrical Ballads, Wordsworth)
The basic purpose of this experiment was to revolt against the existing poetic practices that were
completely devoid of emotion and based purely on logic and reason like the poetry of the Augustan
Age. The lyrical ballads officially marked the start of the Romantic Revival of English ... Show more

It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan age.
Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time, the preface
and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many poems Wordsworth
himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation of lyrical ballads Coleridge
himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the criticism on Wordsworth s theory of
poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely i.e. that of poetic diction and the language
of real men etc while he still believed in the great importance of Nature in poetry that is the common
characteristic of all romantic literature, but at the same time his poems are not solely based on the
natural. He believed that the objective of poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is
the complete opposite of what Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence
of which is that just like a living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without
injury, all parts of a poem must fit together as a whole. In his work, Coleridge in addition to writing
about his own ideas, praised

How Do We Relate In Of Mice And Men
And will there be rabbits, George? Yeah, Lennie. There ll be rabbits.
There is a certain curse attached to the most familiar lines in literature. Because we know them so
well, we tend to smile when we encounter them, and they can break the reality of the story they re
trying to tell. What stage Hamlet has not despaired of getting through To be, or not to be? in one
piece?
In John Steinbeck s novel Of Mice and Men, made into an enduringly popular movie, the lines about
the rabbits have became emblems for the whole relationship between George and Lennie the quiet
spoken farm laborer and the sweet, retarded cousin he has taken under his arm. I would not have
thought I could believe the line about the rabbits one more time, but this movie made me do it, as
Lennie asks about the farm they ll own one day, and George says, yes, it will be just as they ve
imagined it.
Lennie is played by John Malkovich and George is Gary Sinise, who also directed this film, using an
adaptation by Horton Foote. The most sincere compliment I can pay them is to say that all of them
writer and actors have taken every unnecessary gesture, every possible gratuitous note, out of these
characters. The story is as pure and lean as the original fable which ... Show more content on

reckless. They can t find the balance, and get into a lot of trouble. The buried theme is similar to the
one in Of Mice and Men : Two men together form a workable partnership, but neither is complete
separately. You can sense how important this material is to Sinise. So important that in this movie he
doesn t fool around with it; the story itself says all he wants to

Bhopal Plant Responsible For The Production Of Carbaryl
The Bhopal Plant
As previously stated, the Bhopal plant was responsible for the production of Carbaryl, otherwise
known as Sevin which was released under the brand name Eveready. The plant itself aided Bhopal
somewhat with attracting new people with the promise of jobs and fixing the inconsistent electricity
supplied to the city. While the plant was initially very profitable, eventually the market changed,
leaving the factory making a loss every year. The plant eventually stopped producing Sevin due to a
large backlog of Methyl Isocyanate and little demand in the market for it[1]. Many of the safety
features could have reduced the severity, or completely stopped the Bhopal Disaster altogether.
However, with none of these active, very little stopped the Methyl Isocyanate cloud from descending
upon Bhopal. In addition staff size was reduced below recommended levels, leaving very few workers
on shifts with only a single supervisor[1]. Available positions would now be a less attractive prospect
to workers, leading workers with fewer skills than previously to take up positions in the plant. Over 50
tons of Methyl Isocyanate in liquid form was stored in two tanks beneath the plants (though some
workers claim that a 3rd reserve tank was in use too), and were kept there for several months.
This makes it exceedingly likely that much of the maintenance and security features were turned off to
prevent losing money every year. The parent company likely ignored many safety suggestions

The big Kennedy assassination was the assassination of John F. Kennedy who was the United States
President from 1961 to 1963. He was a popular, good looking, and young President which the people
of the United States favored very much. Due to that, America was very shocked as his assassination
was a huge to blow the country. America then quickly put their trust into his Vice President, Lyndon

maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty. Don t worry, I said. They ll be fine. Your

The Ozone Hole And Polar Regions
The Ozone Hole and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions of the Earth have slowly been fading away
in the past two centuries, but with the introduction of a new and growing problem, the ozone hole, the
Polar Regions are more vulnerable than ever before. The depletion of the ozone within the atmosphere
has caused the atmosphere to alter its radiative effects and raise the overall climate of the Earth. The
Earth s ozone layer has continued to dwindle down in size and it has had profound effects on its
radiative ability. The Earth s undergoes a natural process, known as the greenhouse effect, which
involves greenhouse gasses to absorb heat and radiate it back towards Earth. This allows Earth to have
a temperature that can support life. Due the widening of the ozone hole, the greenhouse effect has
become accelerated. The substances that destroy ozone molecules, including CFCs, are also very
strong greenhouse gasses which intensify the greenhouse effect and cause the lower troposphere to
warm. Furthermore, the depletion of ozone allows ultraviolet rays to easily pass through the
stratosphere and hit Earth, which, in turn, raises the temperature of the lower atmosphere. This rise in
temperature has caused a great deal of implications in the Polar Regions.
The Climate Change and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions are made mostly of ice and are very
susceptible to heat. The accelerated Greenhouse Effect has caused Arctic temperatures to increase 3°C
in the past 100 years. This

The Events Of The Holocaust
Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies of morality in the modern world were those acts committed by
Hitler s regime in WWII. Wherein, several million people lost their lives, homes, careers, and rights.
The largest of these people were the Jewish, but also people that Hitler deemed as subversives
homosexuals, disabled, etc. In the holocaust these people were systematically oppressed through a
degradation of rights; murdered in gruesome methods; and enslaved for the duration of the war. It is of
the utmost importance that we do not forget about this great tragedy. It is my hope that we can all
remember those lost and learn the lessons of morality the holocaust taught us. Perhaps one of the most
important aspects of the Holocaust was the leading events to the final imprisonment and
extermination. These events allowed the German people to dehumanize Jews and subversives too such
a point that they thought of them as nothing more than animals. This was a complete degradation of
rights and respect. It is not easy to sum these events up as it follows a long timeline, however, there
are a few critical events I will mention. At the end of WWI Germany was fully blamed and owed a lot
of money in reparation. This eventually bankrupted Germany and caused a great amount of anger and
hate to build. On Jan 30th, 1933 Hitler is appointed as chancellor of Germany and all hell begins to
break loose ( Holocaust Timeline ). The Jewish people have many rights stripped away such as land

Why is the killing of 1 million a lesser crime then the killing of one person? (Scream Bloody Murder).
Throughout history groups of people have been killed by ruling powers, but the unlawful acts went
without title until recent events in the

Genocide refers to the widespread murder and other acts committed by governments or other groups

The worldʼs foremost superpower, America, has almost never acted to stop a race of people from
being exterminated, even when confronted with overwhelming evidence
(Rusesabagina 137). Itʼs hard to reach out in so many different areas, but itʼs also hard to see countries
allowing genocide to continue when they could help end it. Many lives couldʼve been saved if
America had helped to end the Holocaust, but it chose to avoid the involvement. The world closed its
eyes, closed its ears, and turned its back on what was happening (Rusesabagina 98). The Holocaust
went on for years and people couldʼve chosen to investigate, but instead they left it to its undoing.
World War II and the Holocaust was the result of harsh conditions in Germany after the conclusion of
World War I. The war ended in disaster for the German nation...not only the economy, but the spirit of
the country was destroyed by the
Versailles Treaty of 1919 (Rossel 9). The rules set up for Germany were unfair because fault for war
cannot be placed on a single country. More problems arose in the 1930ʼs when the Depression spread.
By 1932 over three million Germans were out of work...More and more the military leaders looked to
Hitler for an answer (Rossel 17).

These genetic changes are small a change in one gene which can, for instance, decide whether a
colony has one or multiple queens. However in most cases all ants start with the same genes with the
exception of males. Ants generally have 4 development stages, egg, larva, pupa and adult(2002
Myrm)10. The larvae (see figure 3) are only capable of some minor movement, such as bending their
head toward a food source. It is in the larval stage where differing the level of care and nourishment
leads to different development pathways. When resources are low most larvae will develop into sterile
female workers. Only if the developed colony has an abundant food supply will worker ants map
selected larvae using pheromones. These then receive better nourishment than others which triggers
select genes to activate(1978 Edward O. Wilson.)11 These larvae develop into, normally winged,
sexually mature female ants (See figure 4)which leave to find a male (Drone) and start a new colony.
In some colonies for whatever reason there is no queen; in this case a female worker (all ants apart
from drones are female) becomes fertile and lays fertile eggs. The Queens main role is to allow gene
flow in the gene pool. She mates with one or more males from other colonies before starting her own.
This is the only sexual interaction between ants from different colonies. This important role exhibits
the significance of variation within a species. Diversity within

Krishna, From The Ramayana

Are Krishna, from the Bhagavad Gita, and Rama, from the Ramayana, really that different from each
other?
The Bhagavad Gita is a story about the conversation between Arjuna and Krishna when Arjuna is
questioning if he should fight in a war. While The Ramayana is about the life of Rama during his exile
and going back to his kingdom. Although these two stories are very different, they do include some
similarities. For example, both stories have characters that are avatars of Vishnu, Krishna and Rama.
The stories also revolve around the theme of dharma and how important it ... Show more content on

In the book it states, . . . Evil would still cling to us when we d killed these men her, with their bows
drawn (p12: 36). This shows that he is concerned about bad karma. After Arjuna tells Krishna his
reasons why he does not want to fight, Krishna begins to tell him it is his dharma to fight in this war.
He states, Do not become a cowardly eunuch, Son of Pritha; this is not fitting for you. Let go of this
lowly weakness of the heart and stand up, Scorcher of the Enemy! (p16: 3). Krishna is telling Arjuna
being a warrior is what he was born to do and a warrior should never be weak. Krishna also says,
Death is fixed for those who are born, and birth is fixed for those who die; since such an end is certain,
you should not grieve (p23: 27). He is basically telling Arjuna the way of life, so he should not be
worried since this is the cycle of life. Krishna proceeds to tell Arjuna this is his dharma as a warrior.
He suggests, If you will not engage this fight for the sake of dharma, you will have shunned your own
dharma and good name, and shall cause harm (p25: 33). Meaning if Arjuna believes he should not
fight because of what he thinks is his dharma, he will destroy his real dharma of being a warrior and
will cause himself bad karma. Krishna then talks about yoga in action. Krishna says, The person who
has practiced yoga, restraining all these senses, should sit, with me as a pinnacle;... (p32: 61). This

Comparing Two Personality Theories
For this assignment, we are asked to compare and contrast two personality theories from the course
that we have learned this far. I decided to write about Erich Fromm and Victor Frankl. I feel as though
both are very important theorist and they reflect us in everyday life.
Erich Fromm was a German social analyst and psychoanalyst, who related to the Frankfurt School of
basic hypothesis. He was known for building up the idea that opportunity was a key a portion of
human instinct, and for testing the hypotheses of Sigmund Freud.
Fromm was an exclusive tyke destined to Orthodox Jewish guardians in Frankfurt on March 23, 1900.

and neurology, concentrating on the regions of suicide and dejection. As a medicinal understudy in the
late 20s, he effectively guided secondary school understudies to practically take out suicide. Due to
these achievements, he was requested that head the suicide anticipation branch of the General Hospital
in Vienna. In the wake of treating a great many individuals over the four years he was there, Frankl
took a position as the leader of the neurological division at the Rothschild Hospital, one of only a
handful couple of offices that permitted Jews to practice medication around then. In 1942, Frankl and
his folks, spouse, and sibling were captured and sent to the Thereisienstadt death camp; Frankl s dad
kicked the bucket there inside six months. Through the span of three years, Frankl was moved
between four death camps, including Auschwitz where his sibling passed on and his mom was
executed. Frankl s better half passed on at Bergen Belsen. At the point when Frankl s camp was freed
in 1945, he learned of the demise of all his close relatives, except for his sister who had emigrated to
Australia. In the camps, Frankl and fellow detainees endeavored to address the melancholy they saw
in different prisoners. With an end goal to forestall suicide endeavors, Frankl and others tried to help
different detainees confronting serious discouragement by urging them to ponder positive
recollections, scenes, and contemplations. Frankl utilized his encounters as a part of the camps to
build up his hypothesis of logotherapy, at times alluded to as the Third Viennese School of
Psychotherapy, because Frankl came after Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler. Frankl trusted that even
amidst dehumanizing and abominable conditions, life still had meaning and that agony had a reason.

thoughts are beginning to arise in the her train of thoughts. Mrs. Millard s way of showing emotion in
a way showed that her relationship might not have been all that great, maybe people don t know the

she wasn t ok. With a weak heart and her husband gone, her family couldn t help but watch Mrs.
Mallard the whole time she had received the news to make sure she wasn t going to suffer from severe
heart problems. Mrs. Mallard sitting down in an arm chair symbolizes that she has faced the
realization that her husband is truly gone and there is no way of bringing him back to her. She then
realized that it was time to figure out what was to come next now that her husband has left her all
alone. She knows if there s any good time to start to move on the best time would be right then and

The Negative Effects Of Social Media On Body Image
Approximately 80% of U.S. women don t like how they look. The number of women who feel
confident in their body is dwindling quickly and is being fueled by edited pictures they are comparing
themselves to on social media. In the article How Social Media Is a Toxic Mirror by Rachel Simmons
in Time magazine she tells of the risk for everyone to feel self conscious about their bodies. However,
those most at risk are teenage girls who spend a significant amount of time on any form of social
media. In response to the article, I agree with the information about body confidence and its negative
effects on body image of teenage girls. I also discuss how logos and pathos strengthen the article and
what would make it a stronger and more credible source for information on teen body image.
In the beginning of the article, the author shows a progression of teenage girls comparing their bodies
to those they see in movies and magazines for the previous generation to social media for millennials.
The ever evolving social media is constantly allowing for the opportunities to compare themselves to
unrealistic versions of the human figure. A world where there are hundreds of apps that can airbrush
everything from waist lines to teeth, teenage girls are having a harder and harder time separating the
ways their body should look and the way media thinks they should look. The article expresses concern
for the rate of which sources of comparisons for teenage girls bodies are multiplying.

Digital Image Analysis Of Eye Fundus Images
ABSTRACT: Digital image analysis of eye fundus images has several benefits than current observer
based techniques. The characteristic symptoms of different systemic diseases like hypertension,
glaucoma, diabetes and cardiovascular disorder etc. affects retinal vessels. Diseases like diabetes show
abnormalities and diameter changes in retinal blood vessels. In hypertension retinal blood vessels
show dilatation and elongation of main arteries and veins. Arteriolar to venular diameter ratio (AVR)
express high blood pressure levels, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Among other
image processing operations the estimation of AVR requires vessel segmentation, accurate vessel
width measurement and artery or vein classification[1]. Hence the identification of arteries is essential
to detect eye diseases. The work has been done on automated classification of retinal vessels and
hence it is a challenging task. Nowadays for image analysis graph based methods have been used
which are useful for retinal vessel segmentation, retinal image registration and retinal vessel
classification[2]. The segmented vessels are analyzed using type of intersection and then assigned
artery or vein labels to each vessel segment. So the combination of labels and intensity features
decides final artery or vein class.

After many deaths from suffocation, air holes were drilled into the cell doors and those doors are still

Retail Location Strategies
Learning the New Rules for Site Selection Will Keep You Ahead of the Game.
Nationwide, the retail sector enjoyed robust growth during the first half of the decade, due in great
part to the continued expansion of big boxes. The excitement, however, is dying down, as several
category killer retailers experience slowing sales. The once zealous players are becoming more
cautious, and once again the rules of the game are changing for developers and commercial brokers.
New Development Drivers
Traditionally, retail centers have been defined as either regional, community, or neighborhood, with
standard tenants for each of these categories. Recently, though, the lines have blurred, as discount

Many of the nation s retailers are discovering the substantial dollar volumes that are largely untapped
in the major urban markets. Obsolescent industrial buildings in A locations are making way for new
supermarkets, Wal Marts, and Home Depots across the country. In fact, Wal Mart is considering
obsolescence in its new prototype by designing stores that can be converted into multifamily housing
in the future. Communities with enterprise zones and other economic incentives are getting a second
chance as retailers rediscover downtown in more affluent markets. A shining example is the Circle
Centre redevelopment in Indianapolis.
B locations, or those neighborhood centers once anchored by supermarkets, are getting a breath of
new life from Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS as consumers yearn for service and convenience.
In addition, the surviving supermarkets and large discount department stores are anchoring regional
malls. K mart now focuses on its superstore concept in metropolitan locations, with Wal Mart
continuing to identify gaps in suburban markets. There are fewer active big box players; therefore,
opportunities for regional mall locations, as they become repositioned, will become more prevalent.

This research paper is about the events that happened on December 13th. I will take you through sum
very interesting events that happened on this date, which is also my birthday. Personally I didn t know
that there were events like this that happened on this day. It was very interesting what I learned during
this research project. I will be able to take the knowledge that I absorbed by doing this project with me
through high school, college and eventually a career that fits me.
My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting for their country.
This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers
who were in its path. Witnesses say the avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the
enemies on the mountain, soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the
actual fighting itself. The French and Russians were against the Germans and Austrians. Most of the
battle camps were set up directly under unstable snow, so whoever was in there at the time of the
avalanche, they would have died. Only a few people were found out of thousands of soldiers in the
battles.
Another interesting event was the capturing of Saddam Hussein. Operation Red Dawn was the plan
that the U.S. would try to find and execute Saddam Hussein for good He was raised into a poor family

In his article, Why Fukushima made me stop worrying and love nuclear power , Monbiot (2012) uses

nuclear energy on people and the planet is less significant compared to burning fossil fuel. His first

How Did The Gold Rush Affect Immigration
The Gold Rush had an enormous impact on immigration globally, as it brought people from all over

lots of debate about whether St Brigid was a real person, as she has the same name as Celtic goddess
Brigid who is also associated with feast day. There are many legends, folk tales and supernatural
events linked with her. Some scholars suggest that St Brigid is simply a Christianization of the
goddess, and others suggest that St Brigid was real and someone who took on the goddess s
characteristics (En.wikipedia.org, n.d.). Although dying in 525 AD St Brigid is still talked about today

Hearst And Yellow Journalism
Yellow Journalism The term yellow journalism was born in the 1890 and was a style of journalism
that used hyperboles and personal biases in newspapers for political purposes. According to PBS the
use of yellow journalism was credited to Joseph Pulitzer the author of The New York World, and
William Randolph Hearst the owner of The New York Journal began using Pulitzer same style. Also
PBS states the rivalry of the two newspapers relied on headlines that would catch the media s
attention, which would allow both to sell millions of newspapers. The use of yellow journalism is
found in the document that was about the Maine ship sinking. The purpose of Hearst using yellow
journalism, allowed him to make his views public and he gained political status. William Hearst put a
lot of his views in the papers his team of great journalists wrote. As stated by Jeff By. Hearst hired the
best Journalist of the time which were Jack London, Mark Twain, Richard Harding Davis, Ambrose
Bierce, and Stephen Crane. Hearst used his papers to make his haltered of minorities, a concern in the
American media. According to Jeff, By. Hearst portrayed Mexicans as violent, degenerate, job stealers
and marijuana smokers, his hatred may have been caused by him losing around 800,000 acres of
timber land to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The headlines of the document pull at Americans to wonder what caused the explosion of the ship.
The way it states Bomb or Torpedo being the reason the ship exploded causes the media to side more
with the thought of an attack. This caused the American media to want war. As stated by PBS some
historians say that the Spanish American war was the first press driven war. Also Stated by PBS
without the yellow journalism the view that the media had for Cuban intention may have been
different. The use of yellow journalism had a great effect on the American

Percent by Mass of Naco3 in Alka-Seltzer
Lindsey Stockton. 3/2/2013. Section 16093.
Determination of % by mass of NaCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets
Alka Seltzer is an effervescent antacid typically used for pain relief and neutralizing stomach acid to
alleviate indigestion. Alka Seltzer tablets contain Aspirin, Citric Acid (CH3COOH), and Sodium
Bicarbonate (NaCO3). When the tablet is placed in water it undergoes an acid base reaction and
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a byproduct that causes the notorious Fizz . The objective of the lab was to
measure the % of NaCO3 in an Alka Seltzer tablet in different measures of an acidic solution
(Vinegar). Through understanding of stoichiometric relationships and limiting reactants, quantities of
substances yielded or consumed in a reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sources of error include massing the flask with all substances before the reaction was fully completed;
which could be the cause for trial 7 (seen table 1) having a lower average % by mass as the vinegar

mass of the beakers affects the lab results of the initial and final massing between

Tom Sawyer Rhetorical Analysis
Humor Uses of Hypocritical in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Mark Twain claimed in his letter to a friend about The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: It is not a boy s
book, at all. It will only be read by adults. It is only written for adultss (Wall 113). Mark Twain s The
Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a novel about youths, but reviews great truths and philosophy of the
society. The book is too profound for children to understand the moral. He uses a view of a child to
express the humor of the implication of youth s behavior, the ironic religious events, and hypocritical
society.
a. The implication of Youth s behaviors

Twain s language of humor. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

them before would never appear, but would be better than ever. Humans are always acting like this
that no one knows which emotion they express is true. There was also an episode during this farce and
Tom concealed the truth from every character in the book. Actually, Tom was too wistful to sleep on
the island that he slipped to home covertly and witnessed Aunt Polly was truly inconsolable, which
aroused his eager to go home; however, he described this incident as his dream because he knew that
Aunt Polly would punish him anyway. Although at some point the society was hypocritical, there still

Counseling Family Confidentiality
Chapter 10: Counseling Families and Groups Counseling families can be difficult to enforce
confidentiality that can be difficult t o make obligatory in group settings. Therefore, counselors should
make extra efforts to ensure that group members understand the concept on how important
confidentiality is (Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.271). Chapter 10 provides information on developing
diversity and values in family and group counseling.
How is confidentiality different when counseling couples, families, or groups, as opposed to
counseling an individual client? According to the text book, confidentiality is different with couples
and families due to privileged communication. When dealing with married couples, there are
situations where stressful topics are discussed between the husband and the wife and later on a divorce
may occur. One of the spouses may want a counselor to repeat confidential information in a legal
court about the other spouse during their counseling sessions, whereas, the other spouse wants to keep
her information enclosed ( Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.256).When counseling an individual client, the
client is the only person that the counselor have to obligate to when ensuring confidentiality. ACA
Codes of Ethics states that in a couples and family counseling, counselors clearly defines who is
considered the client and discusses expectation and limitation of confidentiality, ( 2014, Standard

Dissociative Identity Disorder
The DSM 5 defines dissociative identity disorder (DID) as the occurrence of a minimum of two
different personalities and maybe more than two. It also clarifies that the switching between the
distinct personalities can be observed by the individual who is suffering from dissociative identity
disorder or witnessed by others. (Barlow, 2014, P. 1). This disorder used to be known as multiple
personality disorder, which is more recognized and understood to people without a psychology
background. This disorder can be quite intense to including the different identities have different
names, backgrounds, and memories. Dissociative identity disorder is fairly common in clinical
residents. It is believed that dissociative identity disorder has been around for as long as human
populations have been around. The most primitive cases of an individual suffering from DID
correspond with early cases on Mesmerism. Mesmerism was also known as hypnosis or animal
magnetism. There is a reason for these two occurring together in history and that is they have an
inherent association. The main thing DID and Mesmerism share is that they both deal with the
uncovering of several modified states of consciousness that were out of the ordinary.
The early 1800s gave us the first written records that describe dissociative identity disorder in very
accurate terms, some of the terms are similar to the way we still describe them today. In 1811,

The Effect Of A Us Recovery A2: Global Interdependency A: Effects of a US Recovery Introduction In this paper, we analyse the effects of cheaper energy in the US that could spur the total productivity growth in the country. We also intend to understand how the US central bank and the government tend to behave regarding to the higher total factor productivity, and how the rest of the world and the major economies are affected. We have used some diagrams of macroeconomics theories to estimate the outcomes by running the software called RunGem. Assumption The main assumption that we made in our model is both the nominal wage in the labour market and all the coefficients of Cobb Douglas production stay constant. Since the net foreign investment function is a function of investment minus the total domestic saving, the net foreign investment decreases due to the increase in the total saving. As a result, the NFI curve shifts to the left. The current account deficit contracts due to a reduced amount of capital account surplus in the financial market. Since, as shown in the figure below, the new equilibrium is higher than the initial equilibrium point, and this implies the real rate depreciation in the economy. (c) The money market The money demand curve shifted upwards as a result of the higher output in the economy. However, the interest rate decreased in response to the lower real rate of return, therefore the money supply curve shifted to the right to reach the new equilibrium. Since, in this case, the central bank is using the price level targeting; the money supply must increase as following the macroeconomics theory. The expansion of money supply in the US is around 7.35% and this is comparatively higher than in all other countries. (d) The labour market As we observed a drop in the unemployment rate of the US by 17.7%, the increase in the total factor productivity increases the marginal product of labour for each

Dahlgren s Federal fleet. The first battle of Fort Wagner took place early morning on July 10th and 11th, 1863, where the Union Army began with an amphibious assault from the south which drove all Confederate forces back to Fort Wagner. During this battle the Union Army captured 150 Confederate soldiers. Some historians speculate that Fort Wagner could have possibly been destroyed if Gillmore wouldn t have rested that day of the 10th when he drove the Confederates back to the Fort. Because Gillmore rested after the first battle it gave Taliaferro more time to reinforce the Fort for the following day where the Confederate army repelled an attack against the 7th Connecticut infantry. This mistake cost the Union army 330 men and the Confederate side only lost 12 men. At 8:15am on July 18, 1863 the second battle of Fort Wagner commenced. It was initiated by four federal land batteries and the Federal Fleet that shelled from the sea using 11 ships to include the USS New Ironsides, a veritable floating gun platform sheathed in iron. The Confederate soldiers incased all 14 cannons in sandbags hoping they would last the unrelenting shelling of the Federal Fleet, which hurled shells at the Fort weighing up to 400 pounds. • 6. Types Of Courtly Performance During The Modern Court In the early modern court, the illusion of power could be just as important as power itself. If courtiers participated in the various performances of the court, they had the potential to gain significant amounts of influence and prestige. These types of courtly performances were shared by monarchs, courtiers and lesser figures albeit in sometimes very distinct manners. This performance of the court consisted of various different aspects, including: associating with influential individuals, royal ceremonies, courtliness, and bodily performance. One type of courtly performance, which was primarily a concern of the courtiers and lesser court figures, was the association and ingratiation of one s self with influential court figures in order to gain status and respect. This was a performance in that courtiers were, in a way, required to form relationships on the basis of status and in the court friends were primarily a tool to advance one s standing in the court. A prime example of this is William Chiffinch the Page of the Backstairs of Charles II s court. A man of humble origins, Chiffinch was able to rise to a position of significant power and influence through his connection to a powerful individual, the king. It is something that is completely faith based because there is no way to prove whether or not it is real. It doesn t matter what religion you choose to follow; it is imperative to have an understanding of other religions of the world. The knowledge of other religions gives you the understanding needed to not be afraid of the unknown. A great example of this is after 9 11, our country was full of fear. Anyone who looked like they were Muslim was a target of this fear. Most people were not educated about the Islamic religion but if they had been they would have known that it did not condone violence. It was an extremely radical group who did not represent the Muslims as a whole. The knowledge of other religions is beneficial in your everyday interactions with people or when you are traveling. They were written chiefly with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower classes of society is adapted to the purpose of poetic pleasure. It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan age. Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time, the preface and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many poems Wordsworth himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation of lyrical ballads Coleridge himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the criticism on Wordsworth s theory of poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely i.e. that of poetic diction and the language of real men etc while he still believed in the great importance of Nature in poetry that is the common characteristic of all romantic literature, but at the same time his poems are not solely based on the natural. He believed that the objective of poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is the complete opposite of what Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence of which is that just like a living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without injury, all parts of a poem must fit together as a whole. In John Steinbeck s novel Of Mice and Men, made into an enduringly popular movie, the lines about the rabbits have became emblems for the whole relationship between George and Lennie the quiet spoken farm laborer and the sweet, retarded cousin he has taken under his arm. I would not have thought I could believe the line about the rabbits one more time, but this movie made me do it, as Lennie asks about the farm they ll own one day, and George says, yes, it will be just as they ve imagined it. • 12. Bhopal Plant Responsible For The Production Of Carbaryl The Bhopal Plant As previously stated, the Bhopal plant was responsible for the production of Carbaryl, otherwise known as Sevin which was released under the brand name Eveready. The plant itself aided Bhopal somewhat with attracting new people with the promise of jobs and fixing the inconsistent electricity supplied to the city. While the plant was initially very profitable, eventually the market changed, leaving the factory making a loss every year. The plant eventually stopped producing Sevin due to a large backlog of Methyl Isocyanate and little demand in the market for it[1]. Many of the safety features could have reduced the severity, or completely stopped the Bhopal Disaster altogether. However, with none of these active, very little stopped the Methyl Isocyanate cloud from descending upon Bhopal. In addition staff size was reduced below recommended levels, leaving very few workers on shifts with only a single supervisor[1]. Available positions would now be a less attractive prospect to workers, leading workers with fewer skills than previously to take up positions in the plant. Over 50 tons of Methyl Isocyanate in liquid form was stored in two tanks beneath the plants (though some workers claim that a 3rd reserve tank was in use too), and were kept there for several months. This makes it exceedingly likely that much of the maintenance and security features were turned off to prevent losing money every year. The parent company likely ignored many safety suggestions ... The Ozone Hole And Polar Regions The Ozone Hole and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions of the Earth have slowly been fading away in the past two centuries, but with the introduction of a new and growing problem, the ozone hole, the Polar Regions are more vulnerable than ever before. The depletion of the ozone within the atmosphere has caused the atmosphere to alter its radiative effects and raise the overall climate of the Earth. The Earth s ozone layer has continued to dwindle down in size and it has had profound effects on its radiative ability. The Earth s undergoes a natural process, known as the greenhouse effect, which involves greenhouse gasses to absorb heat and radiate it back towards Earth. This allows Earth to have a temperature that can support life. Due the widening of the ozone hole, the greenhouse effect has become accelerated. The substances that destroy ozone molecules, including CFCs, are also very strong greenhouse gasses which intensify the greenhouse effect and cause the lower troposphere to warm. Furthermore, the depletion of ozone allows ultraviolet rays to easily pass through the stratosphere and hit Earth, which, in turn, raises the temperature of the lower atmosphere. This rise in temperature has caused a great deal of implications in the Polar Regions. The Climate Change and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions are made mostly of ice and are very susceptible to heat. Wherein, several million people lost their lives, homes, careers, and rights. The largest of these people were the Jewish, but also people that Hitler deemed as subversives homosexuals, disabled, etc. In the holocaust these people were systematically oppressed through a degradation of rights; murdered in gruesome methods; and enslaved for the duration of the war. It is of the utmost importance that we do not forget about this great tragedy. It is my hope that we can all remember those lost and learn the lessons of morality the holocaust taught us. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of the Holocaust was the leading events to the final imprisonment and extermination. These events allowed the German people to dehumanize Jews and subversives too such a point that they thought of them as nothing more than animals. This was a complete degradation of rights and respect. It is not easy to sum these events up as it follows a long timeline, however, there are a few critical events I will mention. At the end of WWI Germany was fully blamed and owed a lot of money in reparation. This eventually bankrupted Germany and caused a great amount of anger and hate to build. The larvae (see figure 3) are only capable of some minor movement, such as bending their head toward a food source. It is in the larval stage where differing the level of care and nourishment leads to different development pathways. When resources are low most larvae will develop into sterile female workers. Only if the developed colony has an abundant food supply will worker ants map selected larvae using pheromones. These then receive better nourishment than others which triggers select genes to activate(1978 Edward O. Wilson.)11 These larvae develop into, normally winged, sexually mature female ants (See figure 4)which leave to find a male (Drone) and start a new colony. In some colonies for whatever reason there is no queen; in this case a female worker (all ants apart from drones are female) becomes fertile and lays fertile eggs. • 27. Digital Image Analysis Of Eye Fundus Images ABSTRACT: Digital image analysis of eye fundus images has several benefits than current observer based techniques. The characteristic symptoms of different systemic diseases like hypertension, glaucoma, diabetes and cardiovascular disorder etc. affects retinal vessels. Diseases like diabetes show abnormalities and diameter changes in retinal blood vessels. In hypertension retinal blood vessels show dilatation and elongation of main arteries and veins. Arteriolar to venular diameter ratio (AVR) express high blood pressure levels, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Among other image processing operations the estimation of AVR requires vessel segmentation, accurate vessel width measurement and artery or vein classification[1]. Hence the identification of arteries is essential to detect eye diseases. The work has been done on automated classification of retinal vessels and hence it is a challenging task.
