Essay about Comparison of Japanese and American Cultures
COMPARISON OF JAPANESE AND AMERICAN CULTURES
As Mahatma Gandhi said, No culture can live, if it attempts to be exclusive (Mahatma). Our
culture identifies who we are and how we behave in social environments and provides us with a
foundation in which to live our lives and raise our families. Each individual culture has certain
customs and courtesies that are important. Exposure to the cultures of others can be intimidating
and can leave a person feeling confused and unsure about how they fit in (Schaefer 60). Culture
shock can leave a person feeling out of place in an unfamiliar culture (Schaefer 60). Our diverse
societies demand understanding and acceptance of other cultures. Learning and understanding these
cultures before being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Visits are generally arranged in advance and are very rarely spontaneous (Japan). When
someone comes for a visit they must remove their shoes in the entry area of the home and place
them together, pointing toward the outdoors; slippers are usually worn while inside (Japan). It
is also customary to remove your coat prior to stepping into the entry area (Japan). Guests are
usually modest and reserved when they are visiting and will be offered the most comfortable
seat in the home (Japan). When offered a meal it is customary for the guest to hesitate slightly
before accepting it and will then accept with gratitude (Japan). Guests do not usually offer
compliments on household items, as this may embarrass the host (Japan). It is customary to
bring fruit or cake to offer as a gift for the host which is given and accepted with both hands and a
slight bow (Japan). It is considered rude for a host to open a gift from a visitor at the time it is
given (Japan).
Many of the customs followed by Americans come from the upbringing of the individual. As adults,
Americans may form their own special customs that will be unique for their family. The greetings
and visiting customs may vary from family to family, but generally most Americans have a
simplistic approach. American greetings are generally informal. Men and women greet each other
with a smile and a firm handshake (United States). Close friends and relatives will welcome each
other with a hug or a

The Transition Process Is A Crucial Stage Of The Academic...
The transition process is a crucial stage in the academic life of students with disabilities. Parents
and students both tend to experience many concerns, since it is a period in which student s transit
from the controlled environment of school to adult life and the possible hardships that accompanies
it. As the students close this chapter of their life, certain services and supports that were provided in
school continue to be necessary as they begin the new one. That is mainly why the effective
transition of these students to adult life is the primary concern for both parents and the school
districts.
Initially, the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) was
authorized. This body of laws focuses on providing all students with disabilities a free and
appropriate public education ( FAPE) that place importance on special education and services that
is developed to meet the students individual needs and prepare them for adulthood (IDEA, 2004).
In order to comply with the demands of IDEA, it is fundamental to grasp the significance of the
transition planning in the lives of both students and their families (Test, Aspel, Everson, 2006).
Etscheidt (2006) defined the transition services as group of activities that are established to provide
positive outcomes that support student s transition from school to post school. During the transition
process a myriad of services that focus on higher education, employment, vocational training,

Slows Down The Aging Process
1. Slows Down the Aging Process
A study done by researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine tracked 500 older
runners over the span of 20 years. At the end of the study, researchers found that runners had fewer
disabilities, were half as likely to have an early death and had a longer span of active life when
compared with nonrunners. When researchers began studying the runners in 1984, they had
predicted that running would do the elderly more harm than good. Many people believed that
runners would experience more orthopedic injuries. The study showed that the opposite was true.

Personality Assessment Instrument Critique
An individual s personality is measured with a personality assessment instrument that encompasses
theories and technique. Traditionally psychoanalytical theories provided an outline for accepting
behavior that was abnormal and perceptions that prophesized the outcome for prospect behavior.
Since projecting personality trait occurs, career counselors, and organizations utilize personality
assessment instruments for screening potential employees for qualification. Additionally,
personality assessment instruments are used in detecting personality disorders and abnormal

Latest dispute concerning the competence of the Rorschach with specific concerns as an
assessment instrument and the sufficiency of its data has at spells slanted and distorted vital

essential embryonic area of analysis is the Rorschach s scientific usefulness as a cross cultural

Lack Of News Coverage In The United States
Journalism in America is one of the biggest and most important industries our country has.
Usually it keeps one up to date with many things that are going on in society. However, recently
America has faced a downfall in the reporting of foreign news. As Americans there is a need for
an increased amount of foreign coverage because there are many worldly issues we must know
about, news networks are beginning to focus only on the everyday life of Americans, and the
internet (specifically, social media) is slowly taking away the reality and realness of international
news.
The United States is a country that is heavily involved in the affairs of other countries. It is
important that international news coverage stays as relevant as any other news because of how
much the United States is involved. Goodman shares, with hundreds of thousands of Americans
deployed...domestic politics grappled with the merits and consequences of a global war on terror

Goodman adds, news of the world is becoming more relevant to the day to day experiences of
American readers and it is rapidly disappearing . Due to the lack of foreign news coverage, news
is becoming American based. This is very dangerous because not only does it confine news
organizations to basic and perfunctory stories it blinds Americans to what is really going on in the
world. For example, an American who watches their local news will know about what school just
opened in their neighborhood but nothing about a school that was burned down in a neighboring
country. By limiting foreign news coverage Americans are selfishly hindering themselves from
gaining important knowledge about what is going on around

Explain The Three Strikes Law For Juveniles
The Three Strikes Law For juveniles
The three strikes law are meant to raise the prison sentences for offenders being incarcerated for
a serious felony such as a violent crime and who have previously committed two other felonies
that were serious or very violent crimes. The three strikes law places a life sentences on those
types of criminals. The reason for this law to be created was to deter crime and keep offenders from
reoffending, also the courts and the community felt that the law needed to get tougher on crime.
The punishment of course must be proportionate to the crimes, some of the crimes for example
were Murder, Arson, Rape with force, violence or threat or great bodily harm, lewd or lascivious
acts, Kidnapping, Assault, Attempted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have committed drug and alcohol crimes such as drunk and disorderly, drug abuse, sexual
offenses, such as prostitution and rape. There are instances where juveniles are tried as adults
depending on the offense, the severity of the crime and age. Juveniles have been sentenced to a
life sentences and have also stood on death row. I think that if a juvenile at the age of 15 or 16
commits a crime violent or not and knowingly knows that it is wrong should suffer the
consequences of his actions. I think if the court can prove intent, mental stability, has evidence
and can show the juvenile understood his actions he should be liable. I agree that a juvenile can
and should be given the three strike law, but only under the conditions that the law states, one
his/her age should be a factor, their history, the past crimes and if any were in fact felony violent
crimes and how severe they were. According to an article juvenile offense can count towards the
three strike law under California penal code 667(d)(3)(a). For it to qualify the offender had to of
been 16 when the crime was committed, if the prior offenses was considered serious or violent,
determined to be ward of the court and fit to be dealt with under juvenile court. So, if the court
could use your juvenile offenses against you then why shouldn t the three strike laws apply to
juveniles if it s a serious felony. Yes, juveniles can be more apt to change, but there are those who
do not change and continue to commit crime, Juvenile crime has continued to rise, and you see
more of them becoming violent. The slap on the wrist, boot camp, and probation just isn t working.
Juveniles are becoming very disrespectful towards authority and the law. You see many reoffending
and going back into the system

The Economic Background Of A Student
Economics:
The economic background of a student has an impact on where he or she decides to live after
school. Even if a student does not move out after high school, there is a chance that they will move
out of a parent s house after college. Research shows that 85% of students returned home after
college especially during the time of recession back in 2011. This information is from Boomerang
kids: 85% of college grads move home by Jessica Dickler, who is a staff writer for CNNMoney.
Today a college graduate has really slim chances of finding a job as soon as graduating from
college. College Graduates Tackle Depressed Job Market by David Faulk stated, when the
economy is poor, the trend would be to try to stay near one s support system, students already
have their friends and family to rely on, and moving is expensive, Faulk states. This shows that
when times are tough it is easier to rely on your family and loved ones to help support you which
is why students move back home after graduation.
In the Opinion article, Growing Up, Then Going Home, The New York Times revolves around
various college graduates stories about moving back home after graduating. All the stories revolve
around the same concept, how one feels after being independent in college but moving back in with
your parents after graduating. All had the same feeling, as if they were a burden to their parents and
questioned if their parents even wanted them there. One writer, Rachel, writes At 22, being taken

Iago’s Use of Language and Villainous Behavior in...
Iago s Use of Language and Villainous Behavior in Shakespeare s Othello
In Othello, Shakespeare forms the villainous character, Iago through his complex language. Iago
shows his evil nature towards Roderigo through his use of demeaning animal imagery. Iago also
uses an extended metaphor to try and trick the ignorant Roderigo and (unknowingly to Roderigo),
insults him. Lastly, Iago uses repetition to beguile Roderigo to keep paying him. Iago s slyness is
clearly seen through his deceiving language towards the end of Act I.
In Act I, scene iii, line 319, Iago addresses the issue of love and lust through an extended
metaphor. In this speech, after Roderigo says he wants to kill himself, Iago tries to convince
Roderigo not to end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because nettles, hyssop, and thyme can all be referred to as weeds, Roderigo gives a negative
tone. However, this is not the only place where it is seen that Iago uses negativity.
Iago also uses animal imagery to beguile the ignorant Roderigo. In Act I, scene iii, line 314, Iago
uses degrading terms again in his dialogue; he states, Ere I would say I would drown myself for
the love of a guinea hen, I would change my humanity with a baboon. By expressing this, Iago is
saying that he would rather be a baboon than kill himself for a woman. The terms guinea hen,
being a negative term for a woman, and baboon, being a racial label, are both stated with the
intent to insult Roderigo. Iago also states, Come, be a man. Drown thyself? Drown cats and blind
puppies! (Act I, scene iii, line 334) which infers that Roderigo is weak and juvenile. Iago uses
demeaning animal imagery to express his thoughts towards the end of Act I.
Lastly, Iago uses repetition in the plot against Othello. In lines 337 355, Iago reiterates the
statement, put money in thy purse to convince Iago not to give up on trying to pursue
Desdemona. Iago wants Roderigo to keep his feelings for Desdemona so that he can be successful
in his plot and plan accordingly. Iago also uses the statement put money in thy purse for Roderigo
to pay him. Iago craftily uses his repetition to assure ignorant Roderigo s part in the

Similarities Between Hamlet And The Lion King
The critically acclaimed Disney movie, The Lion King and world renowned play, Hamlet bear
many resemblances. This may be attributed to that the filmmakers of The Lion King used major
plot points of Hamlet when developing their storyboard. As the two works act supplementary to
each other main characters are seen with their own counterparts. One of the first major plot
alignments of the two stories is both main protagonists, Hamletand Simba s fathers, King Hamlet
and King Mufasa die at the hands of their very own brothers, Claudius and Scar. This devastates
these characters, which made room for the introduction of the roles of Timon and Pumbaa later that

Winter Camping Disadvantages
5 Types of Winter Shelters Fit for Camping Enthusiasts
Everyone knows that summer camping is a blast. With great weather, plenty of gorgeous views and
basically every other outdoor enthusiast in the country vying for a camping spot it can be glorious
but also a bit crowded at times. With winter camping on the other hand, you ll still get the great
views but you ll also have the opportunity to enjoy some solidarity on your travels. However, the
one big difference between summer and winter camping is finding the perfect camp shelter to keep
your group safe and warm.
Tents
When it comes to winter tent camping, you ve got 2 main choices for shelter, you can go with a
hot tent or a cold tent. Hot tents are typically made of canvas and designed to accommodate a
woodstove. Great for keeping the heat in and letting moisture out, hot tents are meant to work as
a base camp and stay put. Alternatively, a 3 season cold tent is much more portable and ideal
for those who plan to move from place to place during their outdoor excursions. As long as you
have picked a camping site that is safe from high winds, avalanche risks and winter storms a cold
tent can be made comfortable with a few great camping essentials like a good sleeping bag and a
comfy sleeping pad.

Predicting Athletic Performance Using The Five Factor...
The article, Predicting athletic performance using the five factor model of personality by Ralph L.
Piedmont, David C. Hill, Susana Blanco seeks to address how the five factor model of personality
when utilized, is a suitable predictor of athletic performance and how it is can assist in gaining an
insight and understanding of the competitive nature within athletes, to show if there was a
correlation between personality traits within different competitive sport. There have been many
other studies used to evaluate personality within sport such as Cooper s study (1969) that concluded
that those that are more athletic in a competition sense are inclined to be socially confidence,
aggressive and have an increased motivation to achieve. (Piedmont, R., Hill, D., Blanco, S. 769 777,
1997). Therefore the authors aim was to utlise several testing method to gain a greater insight to
there questions and compliment other studies findings or determine different things. The five
factor model constructed by McCrae and John, 1992 is a scale based self and peer rated scale on 5
traits, these being Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness.
Each personality trait has several other correlating traits which contribute assist in determining
personality within competition. Examples of results of low neuroticism correlate with high self
confidence and low anxiety. High conscientiousness and extraversion are greatly link with an

Television Impact On The Television Industry
The television industry is growing, with so many genres to explore, and varying age groups
producers can target, there is always a show to watch. In western cultures the hours spent watching
television has drastically increased with the television market opens up the potential of more
variety. This escalation of televisionattraction has affected the way young people interact with
each other. Television has transformed the concepts of identity and commonalities among peers.
To understand whether this transformation is a good or bad, a study was done looking at the
effects watching one show has on a group of people. The study included five people, three
females, and two males, all of whom are currently watching The Vampire Dairies (TVD) based
on the novels by L. J. Smith, starring Ian Somerhalder, Paul Welsey, and Nina Dobrev. Two
females who had been watching it in the past but have sense ceased were also included in this
study, in order to get the fuller picture. The accounts all shared how the experience of watching
television among young adults at the Canadian Mennonite University has had a positive impact on
their friendships. The first major theme I found during this study was the perception everyone had
about what television meant to him or her and how that reflected how he or she defined
community. No matter if it was the previews that caught their attention, or he or she had free time
to spare, or him or he had heard from friends that it was a decent show, they

What Are The Causes Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution began in 1775 19th of April and it ended in 1783 on September 3rd. The
American Revolution began in the Lexington and Concord battle (April 1775). With tension
building up between the thirteen colonists and the British the Lexington and Concord battle started
the American Revolution. The shot at Lexington marked the first blood spilled in the war of
American independence. There were many key causes, including the taxes that the British were
charging America, the Boston Tea Partyand the clash at Lexington and Concord.
I think that the most important cause of the American Revolution was the issue of taxes. When the
French and Indian war (also known as The Seven year war ) took place (1754 1763) King George
III lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Patriots would cover the tax collectors in hot, sticky tar and feathers. It would burn the tax
collector and they would be black for days. The Americans thought that taxing them was unfair as
they had helped the British win the war and they did not deserve to be taxed. The thirteen colonies
had to pay taxes on things such as dice, playing cards, sugar, tea, printed documents and much
more. I think that this is a key cause of the American Revolution because if you are not used to
paying taxes and all of a sudden you have to pay a lot of taxes it can lower your budget for daily
things like groceries and water. I also think that this is one of the main causes because after a
seven year war the British are making them pay for their own help. I think that this caused many
people to feel frustrated, angry, fooled, offended and as if they hadn t done anything for the
British. The Americans understood that they had to be taxed but they wanted a say in for what
they had to be taxed and how much they had to pay. The Patriots started to see King George III as
a tyrant. They wanted him gone and have a say in the Parliament. They came up with the slogan,

Organic Chemistry Of Chemical Reactions
Organic Chemistry
Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds. It deals with the structure, properties and
reactions of compounds that contain carbon and includes those from nature as well as synthetic
compounds. Organic chemistry, often termed as the chemistry of design , allows new molecules to
be created such as in the manufacture of plastics, polymers, fuels, soaps, detergents, drugs and
medicines. These, if carefully designed, have important properties for the improvement of mankind.
One such example of manipulating organic compounds through chemical reactions is the
development of Aspirin and later, other associated analgesics or non steroidal anti inflammatory
drugs.

world. Armstrong, also known as Satchmo or Pops , became the foundation of the 1920s jazz.
African Americans were having a strong influence on music and began developing their own
musical styles. Armstrong was such an example, having experimented with nearly every musical
style, including Hawaiian, gospel, bluegrass, and popular music of the twenties. Armstrong s

Geogram And Ecomaps
Throughout this entire semester, I have gained a lot of knowledge as it pertains to genograms
and ecomaps. I would look at videos just to understand how to actually put the geogram and the
ecomap together so that it may be beneficial to me in the near future. This essay paper will be a
break down into how I was able to understand what a geogram and a ecomap is and how I was
able to put it together to the best of my ability. I learned that a geonogram is a tool to display an
individual family tree. An ecomap is a display of informal and formal systems in the child s
background. Both can be information gathered about an individual s mother, father, children,
caregiver, network, or even someone outside the family. In the beginning process, a counselor,...

Demand Estimation Has Been At The Heart Of Many Studies
Literature Review Demand estimation has been at the heart of many studies that focus on questions
regarding market power, merger and acquisition, research and innovation and valuation of new
brands in differentiated products industries. Under the framework of demand estimation, Bresnahan
(1987) constructs equilibrium models of oligopoly under product differentiation and studies the
competition and collusion in the 1995 price war in the American automobile industry. Gasmi,
Laffont and Vuong (1992) study the collusive behavior on price and advertising in the U.S. soft

Firstly, there would be a large number of parameters to be estimated. For example, in a log log
demand system, where logarithms of quantities are linear functions of logarithms of all prices,
without additional restrictions, we would have 10,000 parameters if there were 100 differentiated
products in the market. The second concern introduced when doing demand estimation for
differentiated product is the heterogeneity in consumer tastes. Dixit and Stiglizt (1997) suggest a
representative consumer approach to deal with this. They assume that consumer preferences are
of the right form so that an average consumer exists; there exists a demand system that lends itself
to the level of differentiation observed in the marketplace. However, the required assumptions are
strong and empirically false for many applications (Nevo, 2000). The above two problems are
addressed by logit demand model (McFadden, 1973). The logit model solves dimensionality
problem by projecting the products onto a space of characteristics; in this way, the dimension of the
attribute space instead of the square of the number of products becomes the relevant size. However,
due to the restrictive way of modeling heterogeneity and the property of independence from
irrelevant alternatives (IIA property) in the logit model, substitution pattern between products is
driven completely by

ROMANIA
Topic 1: State sponsored description based on sexual orientation
Description about Romania
Although Romania was originally a part of the Ottoman Empire, several principalities gained their
autonomy and then united to join the Axis powers. The greatest impact on Romanian people came
from Soviet occupation of the Eastern bloc, which caused an establishment of communism as the
main government ideology and led to slow economic growth during the 20th century, a time of
rapid industrialization and growth for many nations across the globe. Today, Romania is a member
of both the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU). Situated
between Bulgaria and Ukraine, it is home to one of the sputtering economies in the region, which is
based on manufacture of industrial capacity machinery and chemicals to other trade partners such
as Germany and Italy. Romania also boasts one of the largest labor forces in the world. One major
issue with Romania is its problem with drugs, as it serves as a conduit for laundering through
government officials and financial institutions.
Overview of the topic
In the past two decades, the rapidly expanding trend among countries has been towards decrease in
human rights allegations against LBGT people. With the emergence of regional government

The Concert At The Athenaeum Theatre
The live performance that I attended was called Circling the Square. The performance consisted
of two pieces the first called Trio M and the Second called ASCENDance. The choreographer for
these pieces was Jan Bartoszek a highly skilled choreographer who has choreographed more than
65 dances in her artistic career. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local
Chicago based DanceCompany. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago
from April 8th to April 9th, 2016. Each performance was a contemporary dance piece showing
the strength of each dancer s movements with different props to help express the meaning of
each piece. The pieces were independent from each other and had their own flow to them as well
as story behind them. The dancers for each piece showed discipline in their performance as well as
physical strength; as modern dance is all about having clean cut movement in order to fully express
the story.
The first performance was called Trio M, performed by three male dancers and only one prop on
the stage, a red bench. The meaning behind the dance from what I could gather was that the red
bench signified much more than just a bench it exemplified power. The dancers had to compete
with each other to obtain the bench and gain the glory. The movements that the dancers produced
were executed with a sense of fluidity and expression. In order to covey the fight for dominance
there had to be a struggle to reach the red bench which

Perils and Scope of Practice in Emergency Medicine
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics are the most at risk to sustain injury
and the most critical short term health care provider because of the nature of their job, because
of the scope of their skills, and because of the skills they have and procedures they are authorized
to perform. The job of EMTs and paramedics are to quickly arrive at the scene of the most
gruesome accidents, and render aid to potentially fatal injuries. The stakes for an EMT or paramedic
are extremely high. If the paramedic is successful he will save lives, if not people will die. These
high stakes demand a sense of urgency that is not found most forms of employment. Delivery of
such crucial critical care demands speed. This speed is required to show up in time to make a
difference and makes the job of a Paramedic extremely dangerous. Problem Work related injury
and fatality rates US paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are higher than the
national average for all occupations (Maguire and Smith 376).The majority of fatal injuries
sustained by EMTs and paramedics are happening on the way to render critical triage care. From
1992 to 1997, there were an estimated 114 fatalities to emergency medical services(EMS) workers.
Primary causes of these fatalities were ground transportation and air medical crashes. (Reichard et

Pro Abortion (Anti Abortion Rebuttal) Essay
Pro Abortion
Abortion is defined as the expulsion of a fetus by a pregnant female before the normal end of a
pregnancy. Many times and in most cases, specifically in the article titled ABORTION by
Jimmyissmart on oppapers.com, abortion is seen as an act of violence and inhumane murder. It is
mainly for this reason why people who are anti abortion support their point of view. However, to
murder the victim must first be alive, but what is the meaning of life? According to dictionary.com
life is defined as the sum of the distinguishing phenomena of organisms, esp. metabolism, growth,
reproduction and adaptation to environment. Hence, a fetus can not be alive because it lacks the

In some cases women who abort pregnancies do it because at that specific moment in their life
they are just not ready for a baby but look forward to having one at a later date in their life.
Surgery for one is costly and secondly and most importantly once a sterilization of a female is
complete it is highly unlikely for this process to be reversed. In the case that a responsible female
takes the proper precautions by using a condom or taking a pill and still ends up with an unwanted
pregnancy should she drop out of school get a job at McDonalds work for minimum wage and raise
a baby in poverty or should she post pone her getting a baby get an education first then, when she
is more capable to raise and manage a happy and healthy baby do so?
Thirdly, Rape is a big excuse for people who are for abortion. Women who become pregnant
through rape and even incest rape suffer the most severe form of emotional tragedy. Should they
still go through with having that child even though they may be at a time in their life where a child
may completely destroy their life and also the fact that, that child will be the embodiment of that
one moment in their life that they try to forget? One of the underlying themes in Jimmyissmart s
paper is humanity. However, how ironic is

In order to effectively combat these issues, leaders must implement new courses of action that
involve fundraising and awareness through the use of rhetorical sensitivity. According to Lloyd F.
Bitzer, associate professor of speech at the University of Wisconsin, a rhetorical situation arises
when a circumstance requires the attention of an audience. The audience must overcome obstacles
to achieve a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising
provides one way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote
more jobs for local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware
that there is no reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially,
leaders must have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s
wildlife, the protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the
community. This positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the
companies, aiding in achieving the goal s fulfillment. Rhetorically sensitive fund raisers may
present the exigence and constraints to their audience. In the case of ecotourism, the audience
consists of foreign tourists who bring new money to circulate throughout the struggling South
African communities. If leaders do not make a convincing

China s Low Rates Of Air Pollution
China, after an economic boom and great success in rapidly expanding in their markets and
manufacturing, has become the perfect opposite case example to the United States in recent times.
China began its rise to a modern global economic power in the 1980s, but never once had any
strong, well enforced environmental regulations until 2013. As unregulated factory and automobile
use increased, China s rates of pollution quickly surpassed that of the United States, leaving China
much more affected by air pollutionthan the United States in recent times. In China, there is a
much higher rate of cardiovascular disease than in the United States due to the high rates of air
pollution. In China in 2012, 98% of people have been exposed to small particles that result from
burning coal that are known to cause respiratory conditions like asthma and lung cancer as
compared to 16% in the United States (Zhang et al 5323). An estimated 1.2 million people die from
exposure to outdoor air pollution in China as compared to 200,000 in the United States. Due to
recent improvements on enforcement of environmental protection regulations in China, that
number is decreasing. (Jiang et al 2). In 2013, more than half of the days out of the year were
considered unhealthy or even worse in Chinese cities. Levels of harmful air particles were as high
as 40 times higher than the World Health Organization recommends. By 2017, with the
implementation of environmental protection regulations in the area, the

Common Law And Equity Law
COMMON LAW AND EQUITY
Introduction
During the 12th and 13th century, a survey was conducted on tradition, custom and law under the
common law system of England. This survey originally developed as court decisions. In England,
the equity laws are developed after the creation of the common law. The analysis based on
development of justice and is now used in the royal courts. This gives us the story of the 1066
when the England was attacked and concluded that there is no common law system, but the local
court system. It is called the power of traditional dishes such as Shires and counties. The
foundations of the common law have known in public as customary law. In this assignment, me the
author will describe the development of the UK system of common Law and Equity. Arguments
about judge s role in the development of legal principles will be made.
The Common Law
During the conquest in 1066, William applied old legal customs in generalizing to the entire
kingdom. It was the origin of the Common Law; the essential characteristic was that it was rooted
deeply in Roman law to be based on the customs and practices from medieval traditions. These
customs are still mainly oral; procedures are carried out by royal courts who judge case leaving
significant room for interpretation. Gradually, the common law is insufficient and ineffective for a
number of disputes.
The Equity
Individuals appeal directly to the king, arguing the fairness of their problems. This procedure, called

There have been extensive research in field the integrated photonics and industry in recent years.
There photonic circuits are advantageous as compared to conventional electronic circuits in a vast
range of applications.. Therefore, so much research have been done on photonic devices, such as

electronic devices.

High index contrast gratings have been a very appealing choice over conventional DBRs in terms
of high reflection, size etc, also unlike DBRs, they provide phase and polarization control of light.

waveguide and the output waveguide with a smooth bend waveguide. The modified D flip flop
structure has been operated with a delay of more than two fold of the basic structure by having
nearly the same CR at the output. The simulation results as well as compact design of the proposed
structure make it suitable to be a part of photonic integrated circuit.
Takeo Katayama et al. 2016 [42] have done research on the optical coupling between a polarization
independent high index contrast grating (HCG) and two orthogonal in plane waveguides. They
have fabricated HCG with waveguides on a SOI (silicon on insulator) substrate. The proposed
waveguide coupled HCG can be used into a polarization bi stable vertical cavity surface emitting
laser (VCSEL), which would switch the output waveguide by changing the lasing polarization of
the VCSEL. It has been demonstrated that we can switch a waveguide with a strong output by
changing the polarization of light injected into the HCG. The light is more strongly coupled to the
waveguide in the direction perpendicular to the polarization of the incident light than to that in the
parallel direction.

Rational System Perspectives
There are two key elements characterizing rational systems:
1) Goal Specificity
Specific goals support rational behavior in organizations by providing guideli nes on structural
design, which leads to specify what tasks are to be performe d and how resources are to be allocated.

Reconciliation Between Victims And Perpetrators
Throughout the course of human history, violence has been a reoccurring theme in the conquest for
power in countries across the planet. Understanding the ideology behind some of this violence have
puzzled historians and psychologists for centuries; furthermore, the presence of reconciliation
between the victims and perpetrators after some of these horrific acts of terror is even more
astonishing. This form of reconciliation was a significant factor during South Africa s Truth and
Reconciliation Commission(TRC) formed in 1996. After close analysis, I have been able to identify
the difference between the similar terms of reconciliation and forgiveness, understand the
evaluation process of reconciliation between victims and perpetrators... Show more content on

Negotiated forgiveness consists of the perpetrator and the victim to confront one another and
discuss the motives and understand the perpetrator s intentions. With the dialogue between the two
opposing parties, reconciliation can finally emerge. Kraft states the need for negotiated forgiveness,
In the context of truth commissions, unilateral forgiveness is forgiveness, and negotiated
forgiveness is reconciliation. During truth commissions, forgiveness appears as an internal
disengagement from the perpetrator, independent of the actions of the perpetrator. In contrast,
reconciliation is a dialectical process of acceptance, involving direct interactions between
perpetrators and victims, (Kraft 115). This is why reconciliation is extremely important, to resolve
reconciliation is essential in promoting peace. With a strong understanding of the contrast between
forgiveness and reconciliation, one can intensely evaluate the process of reconciliation during the

the perpetrators were to confront the committee and the victims and discuss, in detail, their crimes.

the perpetrator. As perpetrators gave testimony, they divulged their crimes, but they also revealed

Miracles In The Book Grand Miracle By C. S. Lewis
Miracles by C.S Lewis centers on miracles in his book he wrote about the Grand Miracle which
can be found in chapter 14. He mentioned how these miracles and other biblical stories have
influenced the Christian worldview. In the sense that Miracle as laid this foundation for Christians
and their basic makeup of the world. He stated his views about miracles he believes there are two
ways we can view and interpret miracles which is nature and supernature. The fitness or credibility,
of the Grand miracleitself cannot obviously, be judged by the same standard (page 174). The
people who view miracles from a supernatural perspective accept that there is an empirical proof
which is not just clear in history that can validate all the importance of the Grand Miracle that the
Christian religionbelieve exist. While the people who view miracles using the natural perspective
disagree that there is no any empirical proof. Most people in the 21st century believe that these
biblical miracles really happened and some believe it did not happen. Thinking in the 21st century

things that really happened to so many people. There need to be a stance in which perceptive

The Importance Of Power In Antigone
Today, we see a lot of people in power. Some of those people know how to use their power.
Others do not. Power in cases throughout history or in literature is good while other times that
power is abused and turns out to be dangerous which leads to bad. However, today, we are seeing
power in the bad light . With power being taken to another level for the worse or power that
causes all out chaos, power shows the bad in people. Antigone is a great way to show how power is
taken to another level for the worse. The king of this book, Creon, rose to the throne by the deaths
of two of his nephews, who fought for the throne which led to their ultimate deaths and crowned
Creon king. Creon, who had a favoritism towards Eteocles, one of the nephews, gave him an
honorable burial while Polynices, another one of his nephews, did not even get a proper burial,
therefore leaving Antigone, sister of Eteocles and Polynices, to go against Creon s law which
forbade anyone to even show the smallest amount of pity towards Polynices and try to give him
any sort of burial. While she did not bury her brother, Creon did find out that Antigone happened to
throw dirt on Polynices, which was a form of showing respect to him. Creon then took Antigone
into captivity to punish her for breaking the law. Ismene, another character and sister to Antigone
followed along with Antigone to carry out this task, was also taken into captivity, although she
denied helping Antigone since she was afraid of Creon

Acoustic Spaces And Ambient Noise Levels
Introduction
A range of observations were conducted to assess acoustic spaces in terms of their characteristics
and ambient noise levels. Using a Digitech QM 1589 (see figure one) three studies were measured
in order to successfully account for characteristic behaviours and differentiate between ambient
noise levels. These studies where assessed under A and C weightings and in fast and slow settings.
A weighting follows the frequency sensitivity of the human ear at low
Figure One: Digitech QM 1589 (http://www.jaycar.com.au/) 2016 levels while C weighting is the
frequency sensitivity of the human ear at very high noise levels (Hear Forever, 2013).
Measurement One is the sound pressure level of 8 acoustic environments that where examined to
establish the quietest space possible, maintaining a reliable and consistent source of results.
Measurement Two follows the assessment of Clarendon Street, a busy road; involving the
observations of cars, trucks and trams that share the road. Measurement Three is the analysis
between A and C weighted testing of pink noise from a single speaker repeated at 1 and 4 metres
validating the application of the Inverse Square Law.

In this measurement and observation 8 possibly quiet acoustic spaces where assessed to find the
quietest space possible; among assessed are JMC Academy s facilities including the library,

The Stock Crash Essay
The Stock Crash
It was 1929, and in the United States things could not be better for those smart enough, or for
that matter, brave enough, to gamble on the Stock Market. All of the big stocks were paying off
handsomely, the little ones too. However, as much as analysis tried to tell the people that this
period of great wealth would last, no one could imagine what would come of the United States
economy in the next decade. The reasons for this catastrophic event in American 20th century
history are numerous, and in his book, The Great Crash, John Kenneth Galbraith covers the period
and events which lead up to the downward spiral in the fall of 1929 and the people behind the
scenes on Wall Street who helped this fire spread. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As explained in the book, holding companies controlled large proportions of such facets of the
economy as railroads, utilities and the entertainment businesses. This brought on the constant
danger of devastation by reverse leverage. This meant that money made by these operations was
used to pay interest on the bonds of the holding companies. Thus, when there was a break in the
money coming in, companies could not make payments and were forced into bankruptcy, which
trickled down the ladder. The third reason given was the bad banking structure which was in
place in the 20 s and into the 30 s. Banks at this time were run individually, thus, when a bank
failed or went belly up because of aggregate deposits, it started a domino effect. In 1929 alone,
346 banks closed their doors, leaving people out in the cold, with no money, money which they had
trusted in the hands of these banks. This of course left the people with a bad taste in their mouths,
and caused them to stop putting money in banks, relying instead on the bottom side of their
mattresses. The bad running of banks ties into corruption also. The men who ran banks, men like
Charles E. Mitchell, were more interested in keeping the stock market boom going rather then the
health of the banks which they ran. These men kept interest rates low and gave bad loans to
people who mostly had no hope of ever paying back. The fourth reason stated was the dubious state
of the foreign balance. During the 20 s, America

it must evaluate its position and its future potential and make decisions as to the structure and

An offer is an invitation or proposition to engage in business for mutual benefit. While no specific
legal language is required to make the contract valid, the language that is presented must be
specifically chosen to convey the intent of the proposal (Rogers, 2012). Second, there must be
an acceptance. As Craig Smith says it, acceptance is a manifestation of willingness to be bound
by the terms of an offer (Smith, 2015). Acceptance exists any time someone agrees to engage in
business under the terms proposed. The third aspect is consideration. Consideration comes in
many forms, but includes the exchange of mutual values (Rogers, 2012). The buyer provides
consideration to contracts generally by exchanging money, what most sellers want from the
transaction and the cornerstone of all business activity. The seller provides consideration in the
form of goods or services that the buyer is willing to buy (Rogers, 2012). The next essential
element of contracts is legality. To be recognized and enforceable, the elements and terms of the
contract must be legal and cannot be based upon the performance of illegal activity (TFD, 2015).
Finally, a valid agreement requires capacity. To enter a contract, one must be at least 18 years old,
of sound mind, and competent to perform his or her duties, including an understanding of one s
future obligations (TFD, 2015). While a preliminary version of mutual consideration has been
discussed, no

Organic Chemistry Lab B
Experiment performed on April 30th, 2015
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to prepare isoamyl acetate from isoamyl alcohol and glacial
acetic acid by Fischer esterification.
Introduction Esters are derivatives of carboxylic acids. Instead of having the COOH group, an ester
will include an alkoxy substituent which is a hydrocarbon group of some kind attached to the
oxygen molecule ( OR) (1, 2). Esters emit fruity smells and are widely used as flavor enhancers or
fragrances. Esters are typically the predominant compound in natural fruits and flowers that ... Show

Next, 0.809 g of isoamyl alcohol was added to the vial and weighed. The difference of these two
weights was recorded and considered the precise mass of the alcohol. A total of 2 mL of glacial
acetic acid was added to the vial. Three drops of concentrated H2SO4 and a boiling chip were
added to the vial. The vial was attached to a clamp and rested in a sand bath that ranged between
150 160В°C. A cold, damp kim wipe was placed around the tip of the vial to act as a condenser.
The mixture was refluxed for one hour. Once the hour passed, the reaction mixture was cooled
to room temperature and the sand bath was turned off. After the boiling chip was removed from
the vial, 1 mL of 5% sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO3) was slowly added to the reaction
mixture, capped and swirled. The vial was shaken to mix the contents and the cap was removed
to release the pressure. This was repeated until the bubbles were no longer produced. A Pasteur
pipet was used to remove the aqueous layer which was disposed in a test tube labeled Aqueous
Layer . The extraction of the upper organic layer was repeated two more times with new 1 mL
portions of 5% NaHCO3, placing the aqueous layer in the labeled test tube each

Secrets Of The Bedroom By Samuel Gosling
I.As I continued to read Blink, I came across a section in chapter 1 called The Secrets of the
Bedroom. I instantly thought of intimacy that a couple share on an emotional and mental
perspective like for example the secrets they share, the ones that hides it, the memories, insight ,
and other personality that they keep as a morse code for their relationship to determine if their
communication will be the downfall of them. I admit, I thought this more metaphorical than
literal. It s really was a theme of an idea that Samuel Gosling experimented resulted that a sacred
place such as a bedroom could easily identify the Big Five Inventory of the personality of a person.

Determination Of The Presence Of Herpes Simplex
Determination of the presence of Herpes simplex through Indirect ELISA
Priscilla Mariel M. Cadiz
Biology Department, De La Salle University, 2401 Taft Ave, Manila, Philippines
*Email: cadizpriscillamariel@yahoo.com
Sexually transmitted disease is currently one of the major health concerns in the world today.
Herpes simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV 1
which is often found in the mouth area and HSV 2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used in
order to determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA
involves two antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary
antibody bound to the primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better
amplified signal. Results obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV.
Indirect ELISA however cannot determine what specific type of HSV is present in the sample.
The cause of HSV 1 is the exchange of body fluids particularly obtained through kissing while
sexual contact causes HSV 2. Though it rarely happens, there are possibilities that false positive or
false negative results were obtained in Indirect ELISA. Interference may cause error.

Descriptive Essay About Gymnastics
A big building that you could see from the highway in my hometown, filled with the smell of
chalk and sweat. To most people it was just a building that they would drive by on their way to
school or work, but to me it was called class act and it was where my love for gymnastics started.
This building was where I learned to do my first cartwheel and it was also the place where I
spent most of my days and weeks when I was younger. I loved this place, and even though I
ended up stopping gymnastics to pursue other sports this was my first sport and it played a part
in shaping me into the person that I am today. Even from a young age I could see that gymnastics
was going to be a sport that consumed a lot of my life.
I was pretty young when I began gymnastics, the age of three to be exact and I ended when I was
about nine. Even though I didn t participate in gymnastics for that long and advance to much in my
own skill level, I watched people ahead of me and on the olympic stage. I was able to see how
gymnastics is an art form, and how much talent it takes to advance. Gymnastics requires a lot of
talent and determination because it takes time, patience, and perfection to learn new skills. A skill
is a new flip on the mats or a trick on the bars or beam. I think this is what is amazing about the
sport of gymnastics, it is not something that can be perfected overnight but it must be practiced and
practiced to achieve perfection.
Each skill that is learned helps the gymnast in the

The Four Horsemen
4 HorseMen
Prologue
On December 17th 1985 it began. Heaven erupted with a fury like no other. Its gates opened up
and a horn blast rang out, with this a white horse appeared. The rider carried with him a crown and
a bow. His goal was to spread a war of conquest across his given portion of the Earth.
After a short amount of time yet another horn blast rang throughout the earth. A second horse, this
one fiery red, appeared through the gate. The rider carried with him a sword held upright as if
ready to go to war. He too set off to his given portion of the earth to spread a war among all those
who inhabit that land.
Shortly thereafter another horn blast cried out. This time a black horse appeared, the rider carried
with him a scale. He too had a set goal, his was to spread a great famine like none the earth had
seen across his portion of the land, killing all in it. He set off to his allotted section and began his
work.
Lastly, another horn blasted out. This time the horse was a dilapidated sickly green horse. The
rider appeared in a black cloak with a large cowl so that his entire face was hidden. He carried with
him a large scythe. He was to spread death to every being who crossed his path in his allotted
section of the earth.
The White horse held a domain upon the area known as North America. A great war between
Canada and the United States broke out. All of South America turned into complete war with no
form of government. Within a week the death toll

The Potential Of The Se Re Innovations
3.Literature Review 3.1Potential for the SE RE innovations SE RE is a fairly new concept but
many researches proves the high potential of its development. First of all, embracing the social
values is the aim of social enterprises, including the environmental sector such as using green
energy, recycling or tracking the fuel poverty. Moreover, growing state support for developing
RET and the technical reserve of RETs (like unmanaged woodlands, garden waste going to landfill,
etc.) (Kellett, 2007), are giving SE a potential market to explore (Van der Horst, 2008). The
Northern Periphery Programme energy cluster has highlighted that social entrepreneurship has not

As mentioned in Section ‎2.1, more constraints may appear including finance, staff,
management, marketing, legal status, etc. Many case studies state, as most investors prefer
established and commercially viable enterprises more than start ups and smaller enterprises, it is
difficult to access capital (Smith, at el., 2014). Moreover, many social enterprises cannot fund
themselves entirely through sales or investment to get a share in traditional financial markets,
which resulting in a financial social return gap (Bugg Levine, at el., 2012). The hybrid nature also
brings challenges to its management level. Except establishing and legitimating organization,
managers also have to find suitable way to committed volunteers and employers and enlarged
governance structures (Borzaga, at el., 2001). The sorry state of the non profit directors (Appendix
‎G) is shown in the recent survey, which is among 924 nonprofit directors carried out by
Stanford researchers (HBR, 2015). Human resources is also one of the challenges social
enterprises need to face. Lack of expertise in business planning, legal and marketing skills is one
reason. Also, hard to provide competitive salaries and even relying on staff commitment to the
social mission to make up it, may lead to staff shortage (Smith, at el., 2014). Social

  • 2. Essay about Comparison of Japanese and American Cultures COMPARISON OF JAPANESE AND AMERICAN CULTURES As Mahatma Gandhi said, No culture can live, if it attempts to be exclusive (Mahatma). Our culture identifies who we are and how we behave in social environments and provides us with a foundation in which to live our lives and raise our families. Each individual culture has certain customs and courtesies that are important. Exposure to the cultures of others can be intimidating and can leave a person feeling confused and unsure about how they fit in (Schaefer 60). Culture shock can leave a person feeling out of place in an unfamiliar culture (Schaefer 60). Our diverse societies demand understanding and acceptance of other cultures. Guests are usually modest and reserved when they are visiting and will be offered the most comfortable seat in the home (Japan). When offered a meal it is customary for the guest to hesitate slightly before accepting it and will then accept with gratitude (Japan). Guests do not usually offer compliments on household items, as this may embarrass the host (Japan). It is customary to bring fruit or cake to offer as a gift for the host which is given and accepted with both hands and a slight bow (Japan). It is considered rude for a host to open a gift from a visitor at the time it is given (Japan). Many of the customs followed by Americans come from the upbringing of the individual. As adults, Americans may form their own special customs that will be unique for their family. The greetings and visiting customs may vary from family to family, but generally most Americans have a simplistic approach. American greetings are generally informal. Men and women greet each other with a smile and a firm handshake (United States). Close friends and relatives will welcome each other with a hug or a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Transition Process Is A Crucial Stage Of The Academic... The transition process is a crucial stage in the academic life of students with disabilities. Parents and students both tend to experience many concerns, since it is a period in which student s transit from the controlled environment of school to adult life and the possible hardships that accompanies it. As the students close this chapter of their life, certain services and supports that were provided in school continue to be necessary as they begin the new one. That is mainly why the effective transition of these students to adult life is the primary concern for both parents and the school districts. Initially, the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) was authorized. This body of laws focuses on providing all students with disabilities a free and appropriate public education ( FAPE) that place importance on special education and services that is developed to meet the students individual needs and prepare them for adulthood (IDEA, 2004). In order to comply with the demands of IDEA, it is fundamental to grasp the significance of the transition planning in the lives of both students and their families (Test, Aspel, Everson, 2006). Etscheidt (2006) defined the transition services as group of activities that are established to provide positive outcomes that support student s transition from school to post school. During the transition process a myriad of services that focus on higher education, employment, vocational training, community ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the study, researchers found that runners had fewer disabilities, were half as likely to have an early death and had a longer span of active life when compared with nonrunners. • 6. Lack Of News Coverage In The United States Journalism in America is one of the biggest and most important industries our country has. Usually it keeps one up to date with many things that are going on in society. However, recently America has faced a downfall in the reporting of foreign news. As Americans there is a need for an increased amount of foreign coverage because there are many worldly issues we must know about, news networks are beginning to focus only on the everyday life of Americans, and the internet (specifically, social media) is slowly taking away the reality and realness of international news. The United States is a country that is heavily involved in the affairs of other countries. It is important that international news coverage stays as relevant as any other news because of how much the United States is involved. Goodman shares, with hundreds of thousands of Americans deployed...domestic politics grappled with the merits and consequences of a global war on terror as a Great Recession was blamed in part on global imbalances . Goodman adds, news of the world is becoming more relevant to the day to day experiences of American readers and it is rapidly disappearing . Due to the lack of foreign news coverage, news is becoming American based. This is very dangerous because not only does it confine news organizations to basic and perfunctory stories it blinds Americans to what is really going on in the world. For example, an American who watches their local news will know about what school just opened in their neighborhood but nothing about a school that was burned down in a neighboring country. By limiting foreign news coverage Americans are selfishly hindering themselves from gaining important knowledge about what is going on around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Explain The Three Strikes Law For Juveniles The Three Strikes Law For juveniles The three strikes law are meant to raise the prison sentences for offenders being incarcerated for a serious felony such as a violent crime and who have previously committed two other felonies that were serious or very violent crimes. The three strikes law places a life sentences on those types of criminals. The reason for this law to be created was to deter crime and keep offenders from reoffending, also the courts and the community felt that the law needed to get tougher on crime. The punishment of course must be proportionate to the crimes, some of the crimes for example were Murder, Arson, Rape with force, violence or threat or great bodily harm, lewd or lascivious acts, Kidnapping, Assault, Attempted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have committed drug and alcohol crimes such as drunk and disorderly, drug abuse, sexual offenses, such as prostitution and rape. There are instances where juveniles are tried as adults depending on the offense, the severity of the crime and age. Juveniles have been sentenced to a life sentences and have also stood on death row. I think that if a juvenile at the age of 15 or 16 commits a crime violent or not and knowingly knows that it is wrong should suffer the consequences of his actions. I think if the court can prove intent, mental stability, has evidence and can show the juvenile understood his actions he should be liable. I agree that a juvenile can and should be given the three strike law, but only under the conditions that the law states, one his/her age should be a factor, their history, the past crimes and if any were in fact felony violent crimes and how severe they were. According to an article juvenile offense can count towards the three strike law under California penal code 667(d)(3)(a). For it to qualify the offender had to of been 16 when the crime was committed, if the prior offenses was considered serious or violent, determined to be ward of the court and fit to be dealt with under juvenile court. So, if the court could use your juvenile offenses against you then why shouldn t the three strike laws apply to juveniles if it s a serious felony. Yes, juveniles can be more apt to change, but there are those who do not change and continue to commit crime, Juvenile crime has continued to rise, and you see more of them becoming violent. The slap on the wrist, boot camp, and probation just isn t working. Juveniles are becoming very disrespectful towards authority and the law. You see many reoffending and going back into the system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Economic Background Of A Student Economics: The economic background of a student has an impact on where he or she decides to live after school. Even if a student does not move out after high school, there is a chance that they will move out of a parent s house after college. Research shows that 85% of students returned home after college especially during the time of recession back in 2011. This information is from Boomerang kids: 85% of college grads move home by Jessica Dickler, who is a staff writer for CNNMoney. Today a college graduate has really slim chances of finding a job as soon as graduating from college. College Graduates Tackle Depressed Job Market by David Faulk stated, when the economy is poor, the trend would be to try to stay near one s support system, students already have their friends and family to rely on, and moving is expensive, Faulk states. This shows that when times are tough it is easier to rely on your family and loved ones to help support you which is why students move back home after graduation. In the Opinion article, Growing Up, Then Going Home, The New York Times revolves around various college graduates stories about moving back home after graduating. All the stories revolve around the same concept, how one feels after being independent in college but moving back in with your parents after graduating. Iago s Use of Language and Villainous Behavior in Shakespeare s Othello In Othello, Shakespeare forms the villainous character, Iago through his complex language. Iago shows his evil nature towards Roderigo through his use of demeaning animal imagery. Iago also uses an extended metaphor to try and trick the ignorant Roderigo and (unknowingly to Roderigo), insults him. Lastly, Iago uses repetition to beguile Roderigo to keep paying him. Iago s slyness is clearly seen through his deceiving language towards the end of Act I. In Act I, scene iii, line 319, Iago addresses the issue of love and lust through an extended metaphor. Because nettles, hyssop, and thyme can all be referred to as weeds, Roderigo gives a negative tone. However, this is not the only place where it is seen that Iago uses negativity. Iago also uses animal imagery to beguile the ignorant Roderigo. In Act I, scene iii, line 314, Iago uses degrading terms again in his dialogue; he states, Ere I would say I would drown myself for the love of a guinea hen, I would change my humanity with a baboon. By expressing this, Iago is saying that he would rather be a baboon than kill himself for a woman. The terms guinea hen, being a negative term for a woman, and baboon, being a racial label, are both stated with the intent to insult Roderigo. Iago also states, Come, be a man. Drown thyself? Drown cats and blind puppies! (Act I, scene iii, line 334) which infers that Roderigo is weak and juvenile. Iago uses demeaning animal imagery to express his thoughts towards the end of Act I. Lastly, Iago uses repetition in the plot against Othello. In lines 337 355, Iago reiterates the statement, put money in thy purse to convince Iago not to give up on trying to pursue Desdemona. Iago wants Roderigo to keep his feelings for Desdemona so that he can be successful in his plot and plan accordingly. Iago also uses the statement put money in thy purse for Roderigo to pay him. In western cultures the hours spent watching television has drastically increased with the television market opens up the potential of more variety. This escalation of televisionattraction has affected the way young people interact with each other. Television has transformed the concepts of identity and commonalities among peers. To understand whether this transformation is a good or bad, a study was done looking at the effects watching one show has on a group of people. The study included five people, three females, and two males, all of whom are currently watching The Vampire Dairies (TVD) based on the novels by L. J. Smith, starring Ian Somerhalder, Paul Welsey, and Nina Dobrev. Two females who had been watching it in the past but have sense ceased were also included in this study, in order to get the fuller picture. The accounts all shared how the experience of watching television among young adults at the Canadian Mennonite University has had a positive impact on their friendships. The first major theme I found during this study was the perception everyone had about what television meant to him or her and how that reflected how he or she defined community. No matter if it was the previews that caught their attention, or he or she had free time to spare, or him or he had heard from friends that it was a decent show, they ... The American Revolution began in the Lexington and Concord battle (April 1775). With tension building up between the thirteen colonists and the British the Lexington and Concord battle started the American Revolution. The shot at Lexington marked the first blood spilled in the war of American independence. There were many key causes, including the taxes that the British were charging America, the Boston Tea Partyand the clash at Lexington and Concord. I think that this is a key cause of the American Revolution because if you are not used to paying taxes and all of a sudden you have to pay a lot of taxes it can lower your budget for daily things like groceries and water. I also think that this is one of the main causes because after a seven year war the British are making them pay for their own help. Demand Estimation Has Been At The Heart Of Many Studies Literature Review Demand estimation has been at the heart of many studies that focus on questions regarding market power, merger and acquisition, research and innovation and valuation of new brands in differentiated products industries. Under the framework of demand estimation, Bresnahan (1987) constructs equilibrium models of oligopoly under product differentiation and studies the competition and collusion in the 1995 price war in the American automobile industry. For example, in a log log demand system, where logarithms of quantities are linear functions of logarithms of all prices, without additional restrictions, we would have 10,000 parameters if there were 100 differentiated products in the market. The second concern introduced when doing demand estimation for differentiated product is the heterogeneity in consumer tastes. Dixit and Stiglizt (1997) suggest a representative consumer approach to deal with this. They assume that consumer preferences are of the right form so that an average consumer exists; there exists a demand system that lends itself to the level of differentiation observed in the marketplace. However, the required assumptions are strong and empirically false for many applications (Nevo, 2000). The above two problems are addressed by logit demand model (McFadden, 1973). The logit model solves dimensionality problem by projecting the products onto a space of characteristics; in this way, the dimension of the attribute space instead of the square of the number of products becomes the relevant size. However, due to the restrictive way of modeling heterogeneity and the property of independence from irrelevant alternatives (IIA property) in the logit model, substitution pattern between products is driven completely by ... Report on Romania ROMANIA Topic 1: State sponsored description based on sexual orientation Description about Romania Although Romania was originally a part of the Ottoman Empire, several principalities gained their autonomy and then united to join the Axis powers. The greatest impact on Romanian people came from Soviet occupation of the Eastern bloc, which caused an establishment of communism as the main government ideology and led to slow economic growth during the 20th century, a time of rapid industrialization and growth for many nations across the globe. Today, Romania is a member of both the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU). Situated between Bulgaria and Ukraine, it is home to one of the sputtering economies in the region, which is based on manufacture of industrial capacity machinery and chemicals to other trade partners such as Germany and Italy. Romania also boasts one of the largest labor forces in the world. One major issue with Romania is its problem with drugs, as it serves as a conduit for laundering through government officials and financial institutions. Overview of the topic In the past two decades, the rapidly expanding trend among countries has been towards decrease in human rights allegations against LBGT people. The performance consisted of two pieces the first called Trio M and the Second called ASCENDance. The choreographer for these pieces was Jan Bartoszek a highly skilled choreographer who has choreographed more than 65 dances in her artistic career. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local Chicago based DanceCompany. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago from April 8th to April 9th, 2016. Each performance was a contemporary dance piece showing the strength of each dancer s movements with different props to help express the meaning of each piece. The pieces were independent from each other and had their own flow to them as well as story behind them. The dancers for each piece showed discipline in their performance as well as physical strength; as modern dance is all about having clean cut movement in order to fully express the story. The first performance was called Trio M, performed by three male dancers and only one prop on the stage, a red bench. The meaning behind the dance from what I could gather was that the red bench signified much more than just a bench it exemplified power. The dancers had to compete with each other to obtain the bench and gain the glory. The movements that the dancers produced were executed with a sense of fluidity and expression. In order to covey the fight for dominance there had to be a struggle to reach the red bench which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The job of EMTs and paramedics are to quickly arrive at the scene of the most gruesome accidents, and render aid to potentially fatal injuries. The stakes for an EMT or paramedic are extremely high. If the paramedic is successful he will save lives, if not people will die. These high stakes demand a sense of urgency that is not found most forms of employment. Delivery of such crucial critical care demands speed. This speed is required to show up in time to make a difference and makes the job of a Paramedic extremely dangerous. China began its rise to a modern global economic power in the 1980s, but never once had any strong, well enforced environmental regulations until 2013. As unregulated factory and automobile use increased, China s rates of pollution quickly surpassed that of the United States, leaving China much more affected by air pollutionthan the United States in recent times. So in order to increase the delay of the structure ,the input waveguide is extended with sharp bend waveguide and the output waveguide with a smooth bend waveguide. The modified D flip flop structure has been operated with a delay of more than two fold of the basic structure by having nearly the same CR at the output. The simulation results as well as compact design of the proposed structure make it suitable to be a part of photonic integrated circuit. Takeo Katayama et al. 2016 [42] have done research on the optical coupling between a polarization independent high index contrast grating (HCG) and two orthogonal in plane waveguides. They have fabricated HCG with waveguides on a SOI (silicon on insulator) substrate. The proposed waveguide coupled HCG can be used into a polarization bi stable vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL), which would switch the output waveguide by changing the lasing polarization of the VCSEL. It has been demonstrated that we can switch a waveguide with a strong output by changing the polarization of light injected into the HCG. The light is more strongly coupled to the waveguide in the direction perpendicular to the polarization of the incident light than to that in the parallel direction. Understanding the ideology behind some of this violence have puzzled historians and psychologists for centuries; furthermore, the presence of reconciliation between the victims and perpetrators after some of these horrific acts of terror is even more astonishing. This form of reconciliation was a significant factor during South Africa s Truth and Reconciliation Commission(TRC) formed in 1996. After close analysis, I have been able to identify the difference between the similar terms of reconciliation and forgiveness, understand the evaluation process of reconciliation between victims and perpetrators... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Negotiated forgiveness consists of the perpetrator and the victim to confront one another and discuss the motives and understand the perpetrator s intentions. With the dialogue between the two opposing parties, reconciliation can finally emerge. Kraft states the need for negotiated forgiveness, In the context of truth commissions, unilateral forgiveness is forgiveness, and negotiated forgiveness is reconciliation. During truth commissions, forgiveness appears as an internal disengagement from the perpetrator, independent of the actions of the perpetrator. In contrast, reconciliation is a dialectical process of acceptance, involving direct interactions between perpetrators and victims, (Kraft 115). This is why reconciliation is extremely important, to resolve reconciliation is essential in promoting peace. With a strong understanding of the contrast between forgiveness and reconciliation, one can intensely evaluate the process of reconciliation during the events of the TRC. In the amnesty process in the TRC, as previously stated to reach reconciliation, the perpetrators were to confront the committee and the victims and discuss, in detail, their crimes. Power in cases throughout history or in literature is good while other times that power is abused and turns out to be dangerous which leads to bad. However, today, we are seeing power in the bad light . With power being taken to another level for the worse or power that causes all out chaos, power shows the bad in people. Antigone is a great way to show how power is taken to another level for the worse. The king of this book, Creon, rose to the throne by the deaths of two of his nephews, who fought for the throne which led to their ultimate deaths and crowned Creon king. Creon, who had a favoritism towards Eteocles, one of the nephews, gave him an honorable burial while Polynices, another one of his nephews, did not even get a proper burial, therefore leaving Antigone, sister of Eteocles and Polynices, to go against Creon s law which forbade anyone to even show the smallest amount of pity towards Polynices and try to give him any sort of burial. While she did not bury her brother, Creon did find out that Antigone happened to throw dirt on Polynices, which was a form of showing respect to him. All of the big stocks were paying off handsomely, the little ones too. However, as much as analysis tried to tell the people that this period of great wealth would last, no one could imagine what would come of the United States economy in the next decade. The reasons for this catastrophic event in American 20th century history are numerous, and in his book, The Great Crash, John Kenneth Galbraith covers the period and events which lead up to the downward spiral in the fall of 1929 and the people behind the scenes on Wall Street who helped this fire spread. As explained in the book, holding companies controlled large proportions of such facets of the economy as railroads, utilities and the entertainment businesses. This brought on the constant danger of devastation by reverse leverage. This meant that money made by these operations was used to pay interest on the bonds of the holding companies. Thus, when there was a break in the money coming in, companies could not make payments and were forced into bankruptcy, which trickled down the ladder. The third reason given was the bad banking structure which was in place in the 20 s and into the 30 s. Banks at this time were run individually, thus, when a bank failed or went belly up because of aggregate deposits, it started a domino effect. In 1929 alone, 346 banks closed their doors, leaving people out in the cold, with no money, money which they had trusted in the hands of these banks. This of course left the people with a bad taste in their mouths, and caused them to stop putting money in banks, relying instead on the bottom side of their mattresses. The bad running of banks ties into corruption also. The men who ran banks, men like Charles E. Mitchell, were more interested in keeping the stock market boom going rather then the health of the banks which they ran. These men kept interest rates low and gave bad loans to people who mostly had no hope of ever paying back. The fourth reason stated was the dubious state of the foreign balance. An offer is an invitation or proposition to engage in business for mutual benefit. While no specific legal language is required to make the contract valid, the language that is presented must be specifically chosen to convey the intent of the proposal (Rogers, 2012). Second, there must be an acceptance. As Craig Smith says it, acceptance is a manifestation of willingness to be bound by the terms of an offer (Smith, 2015). Acceptance exists any time someone agrees to engage in business under the terms proposed. The third aspect is consideration. Consideration comes in many forms, but includes the exchange of mutual values (Rogers, 2012). The buyer provides consideration to contracts generally by exchanging money, what most sellers want from the transaction and the cornerstone of all business activity. The seller provides consideration in the form of goods or services that the buyer is willing to buy (Rogers, 2012). The next essential element of contracts is legality. To be recognized and enforceable, the elements and terms of the contract must be legal and cannot be based upon the performance of illegal activity (TFD, 2015). Finally, a valid agreement requires capacity. Herpes simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV 1 which is often found in the mouth area and HSV 2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used in order to determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA involves two antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary antibody bound to the primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better amplified signal. Results obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV.
