verberant mixture. In 16 a minimum mean square error (MMSE) based technique is planned to
estimate the ideal multi threshold mask (IMM) that has been utilized in the realm of monaural
speech improvement. It contains 2 stages, specifically training stage and enhancement stage. Within
the training stage, a man made neural network is trained by exploitation the SNR of every T F unit
of training information. Second stage uses the calculated SNR to estimate IMM and to separate the
target speech from clamant signal.
This analysis work proposes a method to scale back the impact of musical noise pro duced by
IBM, by planning a soft mask which might be utilized in speech separation applications. Genetic
algorithmic rule (GA) is employed during this work to search out the optimum soft mask weights
between 0 and 1. the objective measures like S/N improvement and perceptual evaluation of
speech quality (PESQ) are used to measure the performance of planned optimum soft mask with
the prevailing IBM 22 and IMM16 based speech separation systems. Rest of the paper is organized
in the following manner. Section two provides an outline of computational auditory scene analysis
(CASA). Section three presents the proposed optimum soft mask based speech separation system.
Section four provides the experimental results of IBM, IMM and also the planned soft mask.
Section five deals with the conclusion and future work.

Essay about Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147
Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147
Light/Dark. Comfort/Despair. Love/Hate. These three pairs of words manage to sum up William
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147, while also demonstrating the duality of Shakespeare s
heart. Sonnet 116 reveals to a careful reader the aspects of Shakespeare s concept of what ideal love
is. However, Sonnet 147 shows the danger of believing in this ideal form of love. These two
sonnets perfectly complement and clarify each other while also giving the reader insight into
William Shakespeare s life. To understand these two sonnets completely, one must first have a little
background information concerning the sequence of the Sonnets and William Shakespeare s life. ...

Each poem reflects the emotions that Shakespeare experiences with the duality of his love.
Although each of these poems only show one half of this duality, Sonnet 144 expresses both
while giving a further basis for the understanding of Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147. Sonnet 144
opens with the line Two loves I have of comfort and despair, (1). When used as a foundation, this
opening line reveals that the reader can expect one of the two sonnets to deal with the comfort
of love while the other deals with the despair of love. Shakespeare goes on to say, The better
angel is a man right fair, / The worser spirit a woman, colored ill. (144.3 4) which shows that he
considers his young friend to be the comfort aspect of love and his dark woman to be the despair
aspect of love. Shakespeare goes on to say that the dark woman tempted his young friend from
his side. This shows that an affair has occurred between the young man and the dark woman.
Taking this poem as a basis, the reader can better understand how Sonnet 116 deals with the
comfort of love and how Sonnet 147 deals with the despair of love. Sonnet 116 can be viewed
by the reader in two different ways. It can be seen as a soliloquy by the author written to his
young friend about their friendship or it can be seen as a letter written to the young friend about
Shakespeare s view of what ideal love is. In either case, it was written after the affair between

President Herbert Hoover Bonus Marchers
Once again, President Herbert Hoover s ability to lead a nation during a national crisis was called
into question. In July 1932, World War I veterans attempted to persuade Congress to release funds
owed to them for their military service. For two months, the Bonus Expeditionary Force took over
the streets, abandoned federal buildings, and greenways in an effort to rally Congressional support
for their monetary bonus. However, joining the Bonus Marchers in Washington D.C. were known
criminals, socialistic, and communistic agitators. The veteran s efforts to secure the release of
funds proved unsuccessful and most of the marchers left the area without incident. However,
communist agitators sent there by their soviet handlers antagonized and

Orientalism As The Populatio In Pepe Le Moko
According to a paper by Buchowski, Orientalism was originally defined by Edward Said as a set of
discursive practices through which the West structured the imagined East politically, socially,
military, ideologically, scientifically and artistically. (Buchowski abstract) In film Orientalism most
commonly refers to offensively portraying characteristics, customs or qualities of people in the
Orient, an imagined name for the countries in Asia and North Africa. In academic discourse,
Orientalismis a tool used to enforce Eurocentrism, the belief that Western society is the center of the
world. (Shohat and Stam 2) Edward Said claimed that the European representation of these people
is a typical cultural creation that enables those powerful to legitimize their domination over those
subjugated and conquered. (Buchowski abstract)

If the Other is primitive, as the film suggests, and association with the Other causes the Westerner
to become part of the local culture, the Westerner must escape to preserve his identity. Pepe s
suicide was one method of escaping said cultural dissolution, the tainting of his white heritage
through association with the Other. Pepe s extended exposure to Oriental culture justifies his
escape. To maintain that the West is culturally superior to the East, as Orientalism seeks to do,
Pepe must prove that he can conquer the allure of the Arab Casbah. Instead of hiding amongst the
natives and seeking protection from the law, Pepe flees to the port, where he attempts to meet with

My Big Decision
My Big Decision
Every day, from the minute we wake up, till the time we go to bed, we are faced with choices.
The choices we face on a day to day basis range from getting out of bed and starting our day, to
investing our hard earned money into buying a new car or house. We make so many choices in just
one day and most of the time we don t even ponder the decisions we end up making. Recently, in
the past year, after being involved in an automobile accident I was faced with, what seemed to be a
very big decision. This very big decision was whether or not to move back to Cleveland after living
on my own for five years. I pondered this choice for a very long time and in the process many
thoughts crossed my mind. I had a considerable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

my parents off my back about finding a job and it also got me out of the house for a couple hours
a day. At the time I was okay with going back into retail sales but I wasn t planning on it being
longer term what so ever.
Upon moving home I left all my friends and at that time many of my friends from growing up no
longer lived in Cleveland. I was concerned with how I would meet new people and make new
friends. Since my accident, I ve made some big changes to my life and the bar scene is one I
occluded. I was really unsure of how I was going to meet new people and make friends.
Moving back to Cleveland was one of the best decisions I made because it has brought me to this
moment in time. In moving home I decided that I wanted to go back to school. Since my
accident, wanting to become a nurse is something I ve grown very fond of and in moving home I
ve accomplished part of that goal. I have everything I need and all the support to be successful in

Steganography Is The Method Of Hiding A Secret Message
Abstract: Steganography is the method of hiding a secret message with in a cover medium. The
intention of steganography is secret communication to hide the existence of a message from a third
party. It has found use in variously in diplomatic, personal, military and intellectual property
application. This paper emphasis is on digital applications and current and future use of
steganography, focusing on hiding information in online image files. Examples of software tools
that employ steganography to hide data inside of other files as well as software to detect such
hidden files will also be presented.
Introduction: In today s information technology era, the internet has played a crucial part in the
communication and information sharing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of those use redundant bits to replace by message bits. Therefore Text steganography is not a
famous technique; rather it is less likely used as a cover medium as it contains less redundant
information. Similarly audio and video steganography are less used method for their large size and
complex algorithm for compression and coding. Again in protocol steganography, messages are
inserted in network layer. Which may result in increasing the network congestion. So image
embedding is a famous technique in the area of steganography because it contains larger amount of
redundant bits and changes in least significant bit is unrealizable to human eye. In short:
steganography_medium = hidden message + carrier + key
Digital Image Carrier Methods:
In digital steganography techniques mostly graphical images file are used as the carrier medium
because of large amount of redundant bits and its simplicity. Messages can be hidden in digital
media in number of ways. The most common steganography method in image files employs some
type of least significant bit substitution or overwriting. In this method high order or most
significant bit is the one with the highest arithmetic value (i.e., 27=128), while the low order or
least significant bit is the one with the lowest arithmetic value (i.e., 20=1). In this approach only
few bits of image are overwritten by the message (ASCII) value, the numeric value of the byte

the reason i think this book is very understanding, is because the author did a very good job at
vocalizing the words right. When Lois Duncan explains the fear the characters get she makes
them sound very articulate, meaning using a good choice in words to make me feel the fear in
the charaters place. For example, when the author explains the way Julia feels entering the
driveway to Daniel Gregg s house, whom they killed (on accident). the author makes it articulant
by stating Julia felt her heart contracting...She had reached the point of being physically ill she

Essay about D2 counselling
Counsellors do not offer advice as such but instead give an insight into a client s feelings and
behaviour and they help the client to change their behaviour accordingly. They do this by actively
listening to what the client has to say and comment from a professional perspective. Counsellors
are trained to be effective helpers, especially in sensitive and difficult situations. They have to be
independent, very neutral and professional as well as respecting the privacy and confidentiality of
a client. Counselling can help clients to clarify their problems, identify the changes they wish to

This pushes responsibility back on the other person and increases commitment to the solution.
Decision making techniques can provide invaluable help to someone that is confused by
helping them to paint their scenario options and then looking into the future and imagining
them playing out. The client can then predict how their will manage this type of situation, how
they would feel and how successful this option may be. The counsellor should also explain how
unproductive it is to stay tortured about things and not come to a decision. Counsellors should
help the client to sort through what they need to consider and make a date in order to meet a
certain and effective decision. Counsellors should also analyse decisions and make sure the
client has the necessary commitment to carry them out. Counsellors should make client s
realise that not all decisions will feel great, sometimes they are the best of two painful outcomes
and may involve a loss. If a decision is delayed or must be delayed for any reason, a new date
must be made for finalising it. Force field analysis is a very useful decision making technique. It
helps individuals to make decisions by analysing the forces for and against a change and it helps
them to communicate with the reasoning behind the decision. It can be used for two purposes: to
decide whether to go ahead with a change and to increase your chances of success by strengthening
the forces supporting the change

Karma, Clarity, Superstition, And Reality
Alex Miradoli
COLI 110

Essay 2
Karma, Clarity, Superstition, and Reality Karma is a powerful influence on humans, but only
when one gives it the power to be influential. The sum of a person s actions in the past can decide
one s fate in the future; this belief is artificial but impacts our moral decision making nonetheless.
Those that walk the path to light are rewarded, and those that travel the road to darkness are
punished. The acceptance of this value may shape one s actions, but in reality this precedent is
simply just a surrogate to fate. In The Story of the Stone, Cao Xueqin used the theme of karma to
illustrate how characters are highly affected by the superstitions they hold. I believe that generosity
and kindness will trigger fruitful benefits in the future, and that unjust actions will come back to
haunt you as well. However, I do not believe that these paths are set in stone after the initial action.
Those that possess good morals should not be rewarded if they become immoral, and those that
commit something unjust should have the chance to redeem themselves. This theme demonstrates
what Marjorie Garber calls the use of literature as a way of thinking in that characters make
decisions due to their belief in this fabricated guideline. Karma has the power to configure the way
we think and act, and its impact on these characters ultimately prompts the reader to do the same.
Those that believe in karma hope that their generous actions will

Aroused and adrenalized, I was dancing uncontrollably as I held my premium collection of

Unanticipatedly, the metal ring that attached both ends of the lanyard snapped, leaving both of us
tumbling backwards on the bed. All of the ducks were scattered, as they rolled beneath the bed and
became less visible in sight.
Without any warning, she started to hit me with a great force. Every hit she threw at me made my
anger intensify rapidly. HA! That s what you deserve for trying to steal my ducks! She roared. You
have no right to touch my property! She said as she continued to hit me.
I clenched my teeth and stood up, as my eyes were overflowing with rage. I took my fingernails
and started to swing them in hasty circles, only managing to make contact with her flesh a couple
of times. Exasperated and outraged, my sister swatted my arms away. Then, I felt a powerful force

I felt myself descending as the air from the ceiling fan washed over my face. The vision of my

This project, primarily intends to poetically reconstruct events from the story of the life of Daniel,
a God fearing man, extremely knowledgeable, wise, from a royal bloodline who faced extreme
difficulties and immensely dire circumstances because of his faith. Under the continually changing

Causes Of German Imperialism
Differing interpretations Fischer, Taylor and McMeekin all have different views on the extent to
which German imperialism was the predominant cause of the First World War. Fischer argues that
German imperialism bears the onus for the Great War, as he concluded that they had gone to war to
achieve European and worldwide domination. He states that Germany had confidence in the
invincibility of her military strength, implying that Germany had been building up their forces.
This indicates Germany must have already been preparing for war, strengthening her army until she
saw that both France and Russia were militarily weak in comparison to the extent that German
elites believed they would remain somewhat unhindered in their continuation of aggressive
intentions. This is significant for several reasons. First, it was controversial as these ideas
challenged the pre existing general consensus of historians outlook since the 1930s: that all
involved European nations shared a collective war guilt from the First World War. Fischer rejects
this view. He references a document written by Bethmann s private secretary on 9 September 1914,
outlining the Chancellor s plan for peace negotiations which he anticipated would soon take place,
as according to the September Programme. Fischer extrapolated that these detailed plans (that
already had the support of the wider political nation in Germany) must have existed in August and
July, and that this was indication towards Germany s

The Sports And Public Relations Essay
Public relations and public relations practitioners focus heavily on maintaining mutually
beneficially relationships. Through these relationships, public relations allow companies and
products to gain exposure and public acknowledgement, without the need to pay for advertising.
This paper will focus on the sports industry in Australia, specifically focusing on the illegal drug
use in the Essendon Football Club that came to the medias attention in late 2011. Due to the
severity of the doping occurring within the club, sponsorships were lost and most recently, players
and staff were banned from the game they love. The media follows the Australian Football League
(AFL) with great priority during the playing season. Without public relations, clubs would not be
able to relay information such as player injury updates, team statistics and club news to the public.
Through discussing the drug scandal within the Essendon Football Club, the way in which public
relations deals with crisis within professional sport will also be reviewed. In doing this, theories;
framing and relationship management will also be demonstrated and appropriately discussed in
relation to how the above case study was handled by the public relations team.

Importance Of Pitching In A Nursery
First you need to know that you want to pitch. If you don t want to pitch then don t do it. So,
first you need a good pitching stance. You should get someone that knows the rules of pitching.
If you are pitching wrong than it can be called a bok. A bok is like a penalty. If you do it once you
will get a warning. If you do it again, all the base runners will advance one base. That isnВґt good.
After you found a good stance, you need to work on gripping the ball a good way. When you
have a good grip you need to start slow. Throw the ball a few times slow. When you start getting
the hang of it go a little faster and faster until you throw at a good speed. There is a lot more to

Suffering has changed the priest s physical appearance as well as his character. It has made him

unlike the soft hands of the priests in old days before the persecution. It has also made him

that even though they didn t live it or see it, it s still apart of them. Their cultures might be
different based on where they grew up but in the end, this is also apart of their culture.
The frame story that the grandmother tells is, in fact, her own life story, her identity, transformed
in a way the girls can be fascinated and entertained by. The identity of the main character is empty
so much so that the granddaughters tried to imagine Wen Zhiqing daughter. What did she look
like? How old was she? Why hadn t anyone remembered her name? . (Chang 178) I believe the
grandmother did this purposely, not to let the girls try to figure out it was her, but for them to focus
more on the story than the person. In American culture, the mother s maiden name is something that
is remembered. In Chinese culture, the father s full name has that much importance and even more.
Which explains why the father name is mentioned it represents her full identity being from her
father s seed and his fathers and so on. Breaking down the title Water Names I believe Water refers

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Computer Science Proposal
The following memorandum contains my rhetorical analysis on a computer science proposal.
The authors John E. Laird and Michael van Lent propose that human level AI researchers use
video games for AI research. Throughout the memorandum I will analyze what audiences the
article can reach and how it can persuade them in a sense. I will also analyze the conventions of
the article and where it seems to lose track of its main objective. As well as analyzing how the
document correlates with ethos, pathos, and logos. Audience AnalysisPrimary Audience: The
primary audience of the proposal is human level AI researchers. These are the main people the
authors want reading their proposal. The proposal does a very good job at stating what the
reason for the article is and whom the article is meant for in their introduction.Secondary
Audience: The secondary audience could be the abundant number of video game companies.
Some of these video game developing companies could take interest into what the authors are
proposing AI researchers do. These companies could either lend a helping hand to AI researchers
or use their own resources to make their own AI breakthroughs before researchers do. External
Audience: An example of an external audience could be the players of video games. The authors
brought up many interesting ideas that could attract gamers to join in the push for AI research
using video games. The authors describe how more developed AI in video games creates different
genres. The

Breastfeeding Essay
Exclusive Breastfeeding
Deciding to breastfeed is one of the best choices you can make for you and your baby. Breast milk
has all the nutrients that your baby needs, when your baby needs them. That is why many women
who can choose to breastfeed exclusively.
A change in hormones during pregnancy causes your breast tissue to grow and increases the
number and size of your milk ducts. These hormones also allow proteins, sugars, and fats from
your blood supply to make breast milk in your milk producing glands. Hormones prevent breast
milk from being released before your baby is born as well as prompt milk flow after birth. Once
breastfeeding has begun, thoughts of your baby, as well as his or her sucking or crying, can

Breastfeeding helps to burn calories and helps you lose the weight gained during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding makes your uterus contract to its prepregnancy size faster and slows bleeding
(lochia) after you give birth.
Breastfeeding helps to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and
breast or ovarian cancer later in life.
BENEFITS OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
The more often your baby breastfeeds, the more milk you will produce. By exclusively
breastfeeding, you help to ensure that your baby has an ample supply of milk. Supplementing with
water or infant formula when your baby would otherwise be breastfeeding may send a message to
your body that less milk is needed. Your baby may become full from the supplements and
breastfeed less. This can interfere with the establishment of your milk supply.
Exclusive breastfeeding helps to develop your baby s immune system in a healthy way. Your
breast milk contains antibodies your baby needs to to fight off germs that cause infections.
Breastfed babies are also less likely to develop food allergies. When your baby is introduced to
foods other than breast milk too soon, his or her body is more likely to interpret that food as an
allergen, making antibodies against it. This is what causes food allergies. If your baby
breastfeeds less because he or she is also receiving supplements, he or she may have a harder time
fighting infections or be more likely

Rose For Emily Foreshadowing
In both short stories A Rose for Emily and Barn Burning both written by William Faulkner, the
point of view is one of the areas where the two stories bare a similarity. This point of view allows
the reader ample time to analyze the various clues provided by the narrator, to discover the final
outcome. In addition, the use of clues, or foreshadowing is another similarity found in both
stories. Although, the point of view and the use of foreshadowing is similar, the delivery of these
elements are not. In A Rose for Emily the narrator uses a first person plural (community/group)
point of view in which those telling the story have a limited perspective compared to Barn Burning

In fact, the story opens from the first person plural When Miss Emily Grierson died, our whole
town went to her funeral: the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument,
the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her house, which no one save an old man
servant a combined gardener and cook had seen in at least ten years. (Section 1 1) Instead of
using facts through direct observation, personal relationships or hands on experience; gossip,
hearsay and rumors are used to tell the story. For example, the townspeople speculate on Emily s
relationship with Homer; At first we were glad that Miss Emily would have an interest, because
the ladies all said, Of course a Grierson would not think seriously of a Northerner, a day laborer.
(Section 3 31) Another example, is the narrator s portrayal of Homer as a homosexual or an
eternal bachelor. Then we said, She will persuade him yet, because Homer himself had remarked
he liked men, and it was known that he drank with the younger men in the Elks Club that he was
not a marrying man. (Section 4 43) There s also the matter of the poison; So the next day we all

Book Vs Story
Books each have their own story to tell, similar to a person s story. The story never contains a
final denouement, just like how a person s story can always grow. In this way, books and lives
are intertwined together into a tightly knit network. A network that has always been there, and
always will be there. Therefore, life is a library of unfinished books. Books are never quite
completely finished. There is always more you can add to make your book better. Revisions,

The Audacity Of Hope Analysis
In Service of the People
As Abraham Lincoln famously stated in his Gettysburg Address, government is of the people, by
the people, [and] for the people (Lincoln). In the memoir The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama,
the disconnected world of politics is explored, with the aim of finding the essence of American
government, the body that was able to keep America united through civil rights struggles, numerous
wars, and financial depressions. That unifying force, through the government, is the American

When Obama made the decision to forego the comfort of traveling by jet between Washington

reasons. Senator Marco Rubio from Florida believes that we need to make sure our government
programs encourage work, not dependence (Rubio). He argues that government assistance will
lead to a culture of government dependence, instead of truly helping people out. Others, such as
President Grover Cleveland back in 1887, believe that should not intervene ever, even for

General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no

The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay
The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films portray paranoia,
mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the
themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to
achieve similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While
the original movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. Demme did
changed the location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In 1962, the

The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials
to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and genteel ladies garden party is a
stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are
also used to convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor s husband,
Senator Iselin, presents the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in
the state department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused
communists during the red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and
political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that Eleanor, who had her
husband present the fake number of communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of
a mother is also satirized in the film. The 1950 s portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome,
however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on
keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. In the
original movie, the audience is shown, as well as told by the narrator, that the platoon was captured
and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in the remake, Major Marco and the

Tenant Evictions
The landlords have all the power and tenants have none. (Giwargis) The San Jose city council

of landlords must be protected and sometimes changes to the law are needed to ensure these rights

The triumph of the Eastern Orthodoxy In 726 AD, there was a massive eruption by the Santorini

The eruption of Santorini and the invading Muslims caused the emperor to change Christian

Essay On The Tragedy Of King Lear
Up until the mid point of his career, Shakespeare divided his plays between the three major
genres: Comedy, Tragedy, and History. The tragic genre is perhaps the oldest genre in literature,
dating back to the ancient Greeks. It started with the ancient Greek celebrations of Dionysus, the
god of wine and fertility. The very simple plot of a tragedyinvolves a protagonist who desires

The full title of the play itself The Tragedy of King Lear puts the play in the tragic genre. As with
all tragedies, there exists a tragic hero, one who possesses a fatal flaw that initiates the tragedy and

held the highest position in the social chain at the very beginning of the play. His social position
gave him pride as he remarked himself as Jupiter and Apollo . Moreover, according to the
definition of a tragic hero, one must be born into nobility, endowed with a tragic flaw, fail to

Reflection On My Math Class
Since starting this class, I feel as though my background knowledge of math would have been
enough for me to feel comfortable in the classroom but, because of the readings and in class tasks
with my peers I ve become more knowledgeable on many terms and practices of math.
It is clear that within the classroom of my peers we all complete a math problem differently. Some
students answer questions the completely different way than I do but, we get the same answers.
For example, when we were asked to add simple math numbers, two of the four of us thought the
same way. While to other people found different ways to get the answer. Amongst the four of us
there were three different ways to solve one simple addition question. This small task opened my
mind completely. I can see that was in my group of four people, there were three strategies to
answer one question. I can only imagine a number of ways a class of 30 students comes up with.
This will enhance my understanding as a teacher because I know that every student does not think
the same and there is more than one right way to solve a question. This class has also shown me
that using manipulatives is one of the best tools to enhance the students understanding. Using
manipulatives will not only help the students, but it will help me as a teacher to understand the
student s steps in solving questions. The best example in class was when my group was given

more savage, more appalling, more hellish be conceived . . . . (Doyle 229)
In the first printing s description, Doyle credited the idea for a menacing dog in a moor in Hound
to Robinson s eerie story and his description on an evil dog haunting a nearby moor ( The Hound

The Apartheid Of South African Apartheid
The avowal that the apartheid vision for democracy necessitated state terror and repression is
evident when examining the South African apartheid system between 1960 1994. The system of
apartheid spiked significant internal resistance, hence, the ideology for apartheid stems from the
creation of a white state surrounded by economically interdependent and politically dependent black
states, which required state terror and repression to ensure mounting resistance and international
condemnation did not abolish the apartheid system. The government responded to a series of
popular uprisings and protests with police brutality, which increased support for armed resistance.
Detentions were set without trial, torture, censorship and the outlawing of political oppositional
organizations such as The African National Congress, the Black Conscious Movement, the Azanian
Peoples Organisation, The Pan Africanist Congress and the United Democratic Front, were all a
result of the apartheid government due to political resistance.
In 1960 South Africa s policies were subject to international scrutiny and the Sharpeville massacre
resulted in international condemnation. The United Nations conservative stance on the apartheid
changed. The Sharpeville massacre had shaken the global community, with the apartheid regime
threatening that it would possess violent behavior and lead into state terror to repress opposition to
racial inequity. Apartheid was seen as a danger to the global community in

Introduction:
A biometric is defined as a unique, measurable, biological characteristic or trait which is used to
identify individuals. Most widely used biometric characteristics to identify individuals include Face,
Fingerprint, Hand geometry, Retina, Iris, Voice etc.
Biometric identification consists of two stages:
Enrollment: During the enrollment stage, a sample biometric is acquired from the individual.
Unique characteristics this sample are then extracted to form a biometric template which is used for
subsequent comparison.
Verification: During the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most widely used biometric trait for this Biometric Encryption include Fingerprint, Face
Recognition, Hand Geometry, Iris Scan, etc.
The key is generated again only if the correct live biometric sample is provided on verification.
The digital key (password, PIN, etc.) is randomly generated on enrolment, so that the user (or
anybody else) does not even know it. This key is independent of biometric so, it can always be
changed or updated. The Biometric Encryption template can be stored either in a database or
locally (smart card, laptop, cell phone, etc.). On verification, the user presents their fresh biometric
sample (which acts as decryption key), which retrieves the same key or password [2].
Applications of Biometric Encryption:
Access control
Biometric ticketing
Biometric boarding cards for travel
Identification, credit, and loyalty card systems
Consumer biometric payment systems etc.
Advantages of Biometric Encryption:
No retention of the biometric image or template.
The key is completely independent of biometric thus can easily be changed or updated.
Single biometric for multiple accounts.

There is no need to memorize long passwords.
Improved security of personal data and communications.
Greater confidence, trust, and use of biometrics by the public.
Major challenges for Biometric Encryption:
Loss of individual control over one s personal data.
Data matching, surveillance and profiling.
Significant security risks, especially

  • 2. The Effect Of Musical Noise Pro Duced By Ibm verberant mixture. In 16 a minimum mean square error (MMSE) based technique is planned to estimate the ideal multi threshold mask (IMM) that has been utilized in the realm of monaural speech improvement. It contains 2 stages, specifically training stage and enhancement stage. Within the training stage, a man made neural network is trained by exploitation the SNR of every T F unit of training information. Second stage uses the calculated SNR to estimate IMM and to separate the target speech from clamant signal. This analysis work proposes a method to scale back the impact of musical noise pro duced by IBM, by planning a soft mask which might be utilized in speech separation applications. Genetic algorithmic rule (GA) is employed during this work to search out the optimum soft mask weights between 0 and 1. the objective measures like S/N improvement and perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) are used to measure the performance of planned optimum soft mask with the prevailing IBM 22 and IMM16 based speech separation systems. Rest of the paper is organized in the following manner. Section two provides an outline of computational auditory scene analysis (CASA). Section three presents the proposed optimum soft mask based speech separation system. Section four provides the experimental results of IBM, IMM and also the planned soft mask. • 3. Essay about Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147 Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147 Light/Dark. Comfort/Despair. Love/Hate. These three pairs of words manage to sum up William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147, while also demonstrating the duality of Shakespeare s heart. Sonnet 116 reveals to a careful reader the aspects of Shakespeare s concept of what ideal love is. However, Sonnet 147 shows the danger of believing in this ideal form of love. These two sonnets perfectly complement and clarify each other while also giving the reader insight into William Shakespeare s life. To understand these two sonnets completely, one must first have a little background information concerning the sequence of the Sonnets and William Shakespeare s life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each poem reflects the emotions that Shakespeare experiences with the duality of his love. Although each of these poems only show one half of this duality, Sonnet 144 expresses both while giving a further basis for the understanding of Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147. Sonnet 144 opens with the line Two loves I have of comfort and despair, (1). When used as a foundation, this opening line reveals that the reader can expect one of the two sonnets to deal with the comfort of love while the other deals with the despair of love. Shakespeare goes on to say, The better angel is a man right fair, / The worser spirit a woman, colored ill. (144.3 4) which shows that he considers his young friend to be the comfort aspect of love and his dark woman to be the despair aspect of love. Shakespeare goes on to say that the dark woman tempted his young friend from his side. This shows that an affair has occurred between the young man and the dark woman. Taking this poem as a basis, the reader can better understand how Sonnet 116 deals with the comfort of love and how Sonnet 147 deals with the despair of love. Sonnet 116 can be viewed by the reader in two different ways. It can be seen as a soliloquy by the author written to his young friend about their friendship or it can be seen as a letter written to the young friend about Shakespeare s view of what ideal love is. In either case, it was written after the affair between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In July 1932, World War I veterans attempted to persuade Congress to release funds owed to them for their military service. For two months, the Bonus Expeditionary Force took over the streets, abandoned federal buildings, and greenways in an effort to rally Congressional support for their monetary bonus. However, joining the Bonus Marchers in Washington D.C. were known criminals, socialistic, and communistic agitators. The veteran s efforts to secure the release of funds proved unsuccessful and most of the marchers left the area without incident. Orientalism As The Populatio In Pepe Le Moko According to a paper by Buchowski, Orientalism was originally defined by Edward Said as a set of discursive practices through which the West structured the imagined East politically, socially, military, ideologically, scientifically and artistically. Pepe s extended exposure to Oriental culture justifies his escape. The choices we face on a day to day basis range from getting out of bed and starting our day, to investing our hard earned money into buying a new car or house. All of those use redundant bits to replace by message bits. Therefore Text steganography is not a famous technique; rather it is less likely used as a cover medium as it contains less redundant information. Similarly audio and video steganography are less used method for their large size and complex algorithm for compression and coding. Again in protocol steganography, messages are inserted in network layer. Which may result in increasing the network congestion. So image embedding is a famous technique in the area of steganography because it contains larger amount of redundant bits and changes in least significant bit is unrealizable to human eye. In short: steganography_medium = hidden message + carrier + key Digital Image Carrier Methods: In digital steganography techniques mostly graphical images file are used as the carrier medium because of large amount of redundant bits and its simplicity. Messages can be hidden in digital media in number of ways. The most common steganography method in image files employs some type of least significant bit substitution or overwriting. In this method high order or most significant bit is the one with the highest arithmetic value (i.e., 27=128), while the low order or least significant bit is the one with the lowest arithmetic value (i.e., 20=1). In this approach only few bits of image are overwritten by the message (ASCII) value, the numeric value of the byte ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Karma, Clarity, Superstition, And Reality Alex Miradoli COLI 110 19 November, 2015 Essay 2 Karma, Clarity, Superstition, and Reality Karma is a powerful influence on humans, but only when one gives it the power to be influential. The sum of a person s actions in the past can decide one s fate in the future; this belief is artificial but impacts our moral decision making nonetheless. Those that walk the path to light are rewarded, and those that travel the road to darkness are punished. The acceptance of this value may shape one s actions, but in reality this precedent is simply just a surrogate to fate. In The Story of the Stone, Cao Xueqin used the theme of karma to illustrate how characters are highly affected by the superstitions they hold. I believe that generosity and kindness will trigger fruitful benefits in the future, and that unjust actions will come back to haunt you as well. However, I do not believe that these paths are set in stone after the initial action. Those that possess good morals should not be rewarded if they become immoral, and those that commit something unjust should have the chance to redeem themselves. This theme demonstrates what Marjorie Garber calls the use of literature as a way of thinking in that characters make decisions due to their belief in this fabricated guideline. Karma has the power to configure the way we think and act, and its impact on these characters ultimately prompts the reader to do the same. • 16. Causes Of German Imperialism Differing interpretations Fischer, Taylor and McMeekin all have different views on the extent to which German imperialism was the predominant cause of the First World War. Fischer argues that German imperialism bears the onus for the Great War, as he concluded that they had gone to war to achieve European and worldwide domination. He states that Germany had confidence in the invincibility of her military strength, implying that Germany had been building up their forces. This indicates Germany must have already been preparing for war, strengthening her army until she saw that both France and Russia were militarily weak in comparison to the extent that German elites believed they would remain somewhat unhindered in their continuation of aggressive intentions. This is significant for several reasons. First, it was controversial as these ideas challenged the pre existing general consensus of historians outlook since the 1930s: that all involved European nations shared a collective war guilt from the First World War. Fischer rejects this view. He references a document written by Bethmann s private secretary on 9 September 1914, outlining the Chancellor s plan for peace negotiations which he anticipated would soon take place, as according to the September Programme. Fischer extrapolated that these detailed plans (that already had the support of the wider political nation in Germany) must have existed in August and July, and that this was indication towards Germany s ... The dynamics caused the music to fill up my whole room with harmony. I could almost hear the emotions Clementi so desperately kneaded into the measures. Happiness. Heartbreak. Glee. Is this really Clementi? I wondered. I continued to research, trying to understand the composer, just as if I was understanding the true meaning of a book. My previous view on Clementi changed from loath to wonder literally overnight. From then on, I immersed myself in this piece. I spent hours sitting on the cushioned black bench of my piano, trying to mimic the harmony I had heard, ignoring everything else in my way. Two weeks later, I was ready to present my impersonations of Clementi to Ms. Eiko. Wow! You played that beautifully, Maumita! I m glad Clementi worked out for you, Ms. Eiko gleamed, after I finished playing the mastered piece. I grinned widely at her. You have no idea, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Frankenheimer utilizes satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. Demme did changed the location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In 1962, the threat of communism was at the forefront of everyone s thoughts. The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and genteel ladies garden party is a stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor s husband, Senator Iselin, presents the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in the state department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused communists during the red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in the film. The 1950 s portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. The Apartheid Of South African Apartheid The avowal that the apartheid vision for democracy necessitated state terror and repression is evident when examining the South African apartheid system between 1960 1994.
