Human Brain Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of the human brain is no simple task. The human brain, with
its complexity and vastness, presents a challenging subject that requires careful research,
analytical thinking, and effective communication. Delving into this topic demands a deep
understanding of neuroscience, psychology, and related fields.
Firstly, one must navigate through an extensive body of scientific literature to comprehend the
various aspects of the human brain – its structure, functions, and the intricate network of
neurons that govern our thoughts and actions. This requires sifting through research papers,
academic journals, and authoritative sources to extract relevant and up-to-date information.
Moreover, articulating these complex concepts in a coherent and engaging manner poses another
challenge. Balancing the scientific terminology with accessible language for a broader audience
while maintaining accuracy is a delicate task. The writer must possess a skillful command of
language to convey intricate scientific concepts without oversimplifying or overwhelming the
reader.
Addressing the ethical and philosophical dimensions of studying the human brain adds yet
another layer of complexity. Exploring topics like consciousness, free will, and the implications
of understanding the neural basis of human behavior requires a nuanced approach. It demands
the ability to integrate scientific knowledge with philosophical perspectives, making the essay
not only informative but also thought-provoking.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the human brain demands a multifaceted skill set that
includes scientific literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication. It is a challenging
endeavor that requires dedication, time, and a genuine interest in unraveling the mysteries of the
most intricate organ in the human body.
For those who find themselves grappling with the complexities of such a topic or any other
challenging essay, there are resources available. Assistance can be sought from platforms like

Voodoo
Amanda Gutierrez
Voodoo which means spirit in Fon, was born in the West African country of Benin
and is practiced by more than 4 million believers. The origins are not well known but
it is thought to have evolved from ancestor worship and animism. While practitioners
believe in only one true God they communicate with him through thousands of
different spirits and shrines. It is practiced in many different countries and although
they all have for the most part the same beliefs some of their practices are different.
Spirit possession occurs in the Birth of Voodoo when the daughter of a Voodoo
priest is chosen to be a spirit medium. She is claimed by the Earth spirit, Sakpata,
and is thought to be dead; she lies for three days without ... Show more content on

Also in New World Voodoo you see many people making the sign of the cross while
chanting Voodoo chants and many people are wearing a crucifix. The man becoming
possessed also says the blood that you shed cleans your body, the way Christ did.
When African slaves were introduced to countries they had to make do with what
they had and integrated with other religions around them. Over all I think
Catholicism and Voodoo have more in common than most people

Both Teams To Score (BTTS) is a great concept that help players win lots of money.
However, it can become quite challenging to apply BTTS to the right matches, so
we have develop an efficient system that finds the best candidate matches
providing a high chance both teams would score. Read on for more to find out the
possibilities. STRATEGY FOR THE BTTS SYSTEM The main question is how to
choose the best team that will most likely score. You can do this by evaluating
player s talents, analyzing past scores, and viewing their track record. Moreover, see
if they have a strong offensive mind before game time because that hungry energy
will push them forward to beat the opponents. A win for them is a win for you.

Roman Architecture And Architecture
As the Roman empire expanded their infrastructure over the years, they created some
of the most astounding engineering architectural developments. The Romans were
world known for their bridges, roads, tunnels, arches, vaults, and impressive
aqueducts. In addition, the Roman builders were able to dominate the landscape with
massive man made monoliths (Engineering an Empire, 2014). Their extensive
experience with the use of concrete enabled them to produce some elaborate meeting
halls, baths, and amphitheaters. Many of their constructions are still standing today
showing their exceptional engineering skills, practicality, and resourcefulness.
Ultimately, Roman leaders and engineers improved on past ideas and developments
by modifying materials and techniques that revolutionized architectural construction.
The Romans were constantly expanding their empire outward and realized that
running water was life. Therefore, they decided to look inward into improving and
preserving their quality of life in their capital city through a water distribution
system. The aqueducts developed by Roman engineers delivered 200 million gallons
of fresh water a day into Rome s major cities as well as a drainage and sewer system.
However, the construction of aqueducts was quite challenging. The Romans
engineered their aqueducts by approaching the city on a gradual gradient
(Engineering an Empire, 2014). The gradient was consistently calculated from long
distances to the actual source in the

A Research Study On College Students
On a daily basis you are introduced to new people around you. The connections you
make with the people you meet are relationships. Relationships can vary from
person to person based on the type of connection you have with them. There are the
relationships with family, relationships with friends, and then the relationship with
a significant other. With sufficient amounts of research being done daily on all
aspects of relationships and how they work, there is a significant gap in the study
of college students and how they view the importance of a committed relationship.
With the appearance of this gap, I am doing my research in this field and on
college aged students. The key concept when developing this study is how serious
and committed relationships are built and treated among college students. This
study will examine the way males and females in college perceive the importance
of relationships and how they participate in the different variations and if these
variations change the way students look at relationships. Recent research barely
touched on relationship styles, especially in college age males and females. I would
like to know what males and females in their freshman and senior year in college are
looking for in an intimate type of relationship. The purpose of this study is to identify
how males opinions about serious committed relationships change from their
freshman year in college to their senior year in college and how females opinions
about serious committed

Colossal Statue Of King Tutankhamen And The Lamassu
The Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen and the Lamassu are two very remarkable
pieces in the history of artwork. The Lamassu is an enormous piece in weight as well
as height. The Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen is also an enormous piece, but
instead, the height is the only thing that sets it apart from the Statue of King
Tutankhamen. The height of both pieces is very intimidating because they are both
taller in relation to people. With both pieces being this tall, the viewer is able to
interact with the pieces more than the smaller ones. The statues are both reliefs, but
the Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen is around relief. This statue allows the
viewers to walk around the statue and get a clear idea of what the artist was trying
to express with this piece. The Lamassu is also a relief sculpture, but instead, the
viewer is unable to fully walk around the relief. This artwork can only be seen from
the very front as well as the side, this was how the artist intended to express the
artwork.
The artwork is similar as well as very different in many ways. The styles of birth of
the pieces are extremely different and this is very noticeable. The Colossal statue of
King Tutankhamen looks very Egyptian based on the way the statue is designed
many of the facial features resemble the Egyptian culture. The Lamassu statue
resembles more of an Assyrian style based on the facial features. The structures of
both pieces are basically different from one another. The statue of
Gene s Time Period
This passage shows the time period that Gene s story begins, which is the summer
of 1942 (Knowles 28), and when most of the prominent events in the story take
place, therefore setting the plot rolling for what happens in the following year.
However, it is mentioned in the beginning of the novel, by Gene, that [he] was a
student there fifteen years before (Knowles 9), meaning that the time period in
which he is writing down, or looking back on, his story is roughly 1957; after the war
has ended and he has had time to reflect on and accept what happened during his
years at Devon. During the summer session in 1942, Gene is a boy who is known for
his good grades and is someone who follows the rules, while Finny is his athletic

Gene has attended this private school for a number of years and begins his story
during the summer session at Devon in 1942, which consists of a very calm,
relaxing, and childish attitude. During the summer, Gene experiences the better
things that the school has to offer, like regular outdoor activities and minimal
supervision, along with Finny and his eccentric personality. However, during the
regular school year, the atmosphere at Devon quickly becomes more dark, with the
pressure to enlist in the war one of the top student concerns. Finny s broken leg also
causes problems with continuing the cheerful attitude from the summer because of
the unresolved tension between him and Gene, which impacts the overall
atmosphere of Devon because Finny used to be a strong and influencing character
in the school. Devon is also where Brinker, one of Gene s friends, holds a trial
among their classmates to determine whether or not Gene is really guilty of hurting
Finny, which also ends in disaster when Finny falls down a flight of stairs and breaks
his leg again. The final, and most impacting, event that Devon holds for Gene is the
end of a friendship when Finny dies due to bone marrow reaching his heart, causing
him to realize that the true enemy is the one within himself, not the ones being
attacked in the
Design Of Design And Technology
Design and Technology flourished out of hands on craft base subjects, with the
original focus on developing students physical skills. Practical lessons in craft based
subjects became firmly established in secondary schools in the UK in the 1960s
through to the 1970s. Design and Technology was first introduced into the school
curriculum in England and Wales in 1989. (Martin and Owen Jackson, 2013, Owen
Jackson, pg.65) Design and Technology originates from craft based traditions,
industrial and manufacturing practices and embracing new technologies. Design and
Technology is both a skill focused and knowledgefocused subject in that it is about
what they make and also what they learn. Design and Technology is a dynamic
endlessly changing subject with the skills and knowledge surrounding the subject
developing with time. Principles and concepts surrounding Design Technology must
remain relevant to the time in order for students to gain the most from the subject.
The National Curriculum was first introduced in 1988 with technology as a
compulsory subject for pupils aged 5 16. In 1995 it was revised and renamed
Design Technology which include Resistant Materials, Systems Control, Food and
Textiles. In 2007 Design Technology became compulsory for pupils in Key Stage 1
to 3, and KS4 and KS5 students had a choice as to whether they wanted to study it
further as a GCSE or A level. (Owen Jackson, 2008. Pg1). Since the review of the
National Curriculum in 2011 (Barlex et al,

Dostoevsky as Performer Essay
Dostoevsky as Performer
Storytelling and reading aloud played a valuable part in young Fyodor s life,
influencing his own later successful writing endeavors as well as his performance of
literature. His nanny and wet nurse introduced the Dostoevsky children to folklore
and lives of the saints through the stories they told. Nanny Alyona Frolovna told the
children stories of ancient Russia, of Saint Sergey of Moscow subduing a bear by
the power of his holiness, of heroes and legends and folk tales, Christianity and
Russian myth intertwined ; the stories were so vivid and frightening that the children
had trouble sleeping (Gunn 10). During the winter their former wet nurses would

The Gothic novels of Ann Radcliffe were favorites of the Dostoevskys. Frank
contends that Dostoevsky, influenced by Radcliffe, would later incorporate Gothic
techniques of plot, character, and atmosphere and carry them to a peak of perfection
that has never been surpassed (1976, 55). Among the literature read and discussed
by the Dostoevsky fireside were the Bible, writings of Nikolai Karamzin, including
History of the Russian State, Letters of a Russian Traveller, and Poor Liza; the poets
Vasily Zhukovsky, Mikhail Y. Lermontov, Gavriil R. Derzhavin, and, of course,
Alexander Pushkin; and the novelist Sir Walter Scott. Frank believes that the readings
in the family circle were designed to stimulate and benefit the children and to turn
them into Godfearing and loyal citizens of the Tsar (1976, 5960). Geir Kjetsaa
reports that the Dostoevsky parents were fine readers and the two oldest boys
[Mikhail and Fyodor] did not lag far behind them and is convinced that for Fyodor
these reading sessions served as a literary foundation for his entire life (10).
The influence of Fyodor s mother, his first teacher, was no doubt strong as she
conveyed her love of poetry and novels as well as music. Fyodor began to read for
himself at the age of four from an antique volume containing a hundred and four
Bible tales and conceived a passion for the book of Job
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites In Oil
Industry
COMPOSITES IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
Composite materials are multiphase materials obtained through the artificial
combination of different materials in order to attain properties that the individual
components by themselves cannot attain. They are not multiphase materials in which
the different phases are formed naturally by reactions, phase transformations, or other
phenomena. An example is carbon fiber reinforced polymer. Composite materials
should be distinguished from alloys, which can comprise two more components but
are formed naturally through processes such as casting. Composite materials can be
tailored for various properties by appropriately choosing their components, their
proportions, their distributions, their morphologies, their degrees of crystallinity,
their crystallographic textures, as well as the structure and composition of the
interface between components. Due to this strong tailor ability, composite materials
can be designed to satisfy the needs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the use of them, mass of construction is reduced up to 80%. Composites are
already greatly used for the production of pipe systems for fluid transport, pressure
vessels, drill pipes and their couplings, tanks for fluid storage, risers, pipes for coiled
drilling installations, partitions on platforms for the protection against fire etc. Basic
advantages of the use of composite materials when compared to conventional material
which is steel, are reduction of mass of primary and secondary constructions,
introduction of new technologies (for example installation of conducting
infrastructures into drill pipes), better physical and chemical characteristics
(corrosion resistance, buckling strength), longer life time of the construction (for
example within 25 years carbon fibers lose 2 10% of initial strength), easy installation
of the construction, higher safety at work, and minimum
Child Labour And Indi Causes, Challenges And Legislations
Child Labour in India: Causes, Challenges and Legislations to combat the malaise.
Abstract: Child labour continues to be a problem even today in many parts of the
world. These children are mostly inhabitants of poor undeveloped nations of South
America, Africa and Asia. They live in harsh conditions with almost no access to
education. The income earned by them, however minimal, is necessary to feed and
clothe their families who are dependent on them. The families have no other option
but to push their children to work in various informal industrial and agricultural
sectors in order to make ends meet. They are simply not aware of the harm this does
to their young children nor is there an orientation to send these children to school
instead. The Government of India has taken a lot of legal initiatives in order to
address this serious issue of child labour. The National Human Rights Commission
(NHRC) has been proactively involved in the eradication of this malaise plaguing
Indian society. India is also a participant in the United Nation s International Program
on Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) under the aegis of ILO. The present paper
will look at the various causes which lead to child labour, the international and
national legislations that are in place to eliminate this glaring menace and the steps
which must be taken in order to abolish child labour in the country.

Prevalence Of Diabetes Among The Americans
Prevalence of Diabetes in Kuwait
Today, Diabetes happens to be the most challenging medical disorder existing in the
world, with an alarming rise in the number of individuals contracting and dealing
with the same. Among the 10 countries worldwide, having the highest prevalence rate
of Diabetes, Kuwait backs the ninth position. Kuwait has an alarming 23.3% of
prevalence of Diabetes and that is estimated to rise in the next 10 years.1, 2
There are many contributing factors for the increasing prevalence of Diabetes among
the natives of Kuwait like drastic epidemiological and cultural changes, sedentary life
style, unhealthy eating habits, ageing, over weight and urbanization.2, 3 Studies
reveal that the occurrence of Type II Diabetes mellitusis also increasing among the
younger individuals, mostly covering the ones below 30 years of age.4 It was also
found that 73.4% of the people with Diabetes are below 60 years of age , i.e. in
their productive years, especially in Arab regions including Kuwait, which may
adversely affect the capabilities of individuals and the quality of life in the long
run.36 Also, the onset of Diabetes is characterized to be gradual, with around 30% of
the patients presenting with complications at the time of diagnosis5 and an
asymptomatic time period of 10 years in which the disease remains undetected.6, 7
Hence, Diabetes poses a huge burden over the economy as a consequence of loss of
productivity and cost of health treatments.36

Auditor Independence
Introduction Independence is a fundamental to the reliability of auditors reports. It is
an attitude of mind characterized by integrity and an objective approach to
professional works. A professional auditor should work both independent and seen to
be so. Nowadays, but, the trend of providing non audit services to auditclients seem to
be sweeping accounting firms all over the world; impacts of independence
impairment caused by this trend should not be ignored.
The Meaning of Independence The essential feature of an audit is its independence
and, if an accountant performs the accountancy work and then checks it himself, this
checking cannot be viewed to be an audit because it lacks independence. From

Under APB Ethical Standards the concept of auditor independence shifted in favor of
objectivity and neutrality in the reporting of the financial position and the results of
operations, rather than loyalty to a particular party.
The Ethical Standards allow audit firms to offer consulting services such as internal
auditing and information technology but are subject to certain restrictions, and audit
firms are required to disclose fees received from auditing and all non audit services.
However, without providing clear distinctions which makes grey area exists, the rules
should err on the side of caution. Auditors and their clients are likely to continually
test the limits of what is permissible, including by litigating restrictions they oppose.
UK s Combined Code on Corporate Governance only recommends that audit
committees develop policies to govern the future provision of non audit services, but
does not require a pre approval of non audit services by audit committees. No specific
enforcement mechanism ensures that management does not become involved,
directly or indirectly, in selecting auditors or determining audit fees and the scope of
audit. Ethical code requirements should focus to a greater extent on the issue of to
what extent client management may still be able to influence the audit fee and the
scope of audit engagement.

Description of your tour stop 3 marks
With a lake depth of 86m and is 1.5% of the world s fresh water, Lake Ontario is one
the five Great Lakes located on the borders between the United States and Canada.
As the name suggests, this Lake Ontario is in the province of Ontario as well as the
state of New York. As one of the Great Lakes
, the lake provides many with fresh water
(once it has been filtered). When starting from left to right, Lake Ontario is the last
lake in the chain of Great Lakes through links of small bodies of water. It is also
linked to the St. Lawrence River which is connected with the Atlantic Ocean. This
lake also serves as a harbour to cities that are situated around it which are used for
importation and exportation purposes.

Originating from the Glacial Lake Iroquois 13000 years ago, Lake Ontario was
only a portion of Lake Iroquois. Like many other lakes, these lakes were formed
through the process of glaciation. During this process, the advancing glaciers
began to carve out Earth s crust and as the glaciers receded, the water filled the
carved out spots that were previously created. The lake was exceptionally popular
for trade after the war of 1812 as Lake Ontario had canals built. It was a location of
commerce for many until the construction of the railway. Lake Ontario was first
visited and named by Samuel de Champlain who called it Lac de St. Louis in 1632.
Afterwards, the lake was dubbed
The Pros And Cons Of Praising God
The word praise, from Old French and Latin, means to praise someone, to glorify
and extol through song or compliments and dedication. Praising the Lord is an
ocean of feelings at once. Praising the Lord is expecting a song and acquiring a
torrential downpour of adoration and acceptance; everything pales in comparison.
Praising the Lord is expecting disdain and attaining complete acceptance of every
element of you. It is finally realizing how flawless He made you. Falling from the
path He created for you does not suggest that you cannot be forgiven of your sins
and be accepted totally. A thousand times I ve failed/ Still Your Mercy remains

dollars for. It is sweet and your favorite and truly does not cost half as much as she
accuses it of. It does not require too much time or cause you to be tired when the
day comes to a close. In fact, worshipping is what revitalizes you for the week and
helps you experience life with composure and a focused mind. Praising the Lord is
dedicating your life to a Godwho is real and who created the heavens and the universe.

Sinners In The Hand Of An Angry God And The Crucible
Puritan Literature Puritan literature is full of the Puritan values and beliefs. One
of those beliefs is that only by following strict religious rules can a person have
God s approval and get to heaven. Of Plymouth Plantation , Sinners in the Hand of
an Angry God , and The Crucible show this belief. Of Plymouth Plantation talks
about a proud and very ungodly young man, one of the seamen, of a lusty, able
body, which made him more arrogant. He condemned the poor, sick people aboard
the ship and cursing them daily with angry words. It also talked about how he
hoped to cast half of them overboard before the end of the journey. The story notes
that it pleased God before they made it halfway to Cape Cod for the sailor to come
down with a deadly disease. He died in a desperate manner and was the first to be
thrown overboard. The Puritans explains his curses lights on his own head, and it

your lives, look not behind you, escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed. ,
which means God s wrath is coming, do your utmost to escape before it s too
Mars Delusion On Mars
Blayne:
Mars: What is the evidence that water once flowed on Mars?
In last couple year s evidence of water on mars has grown exponentially. The
geography of Mars suggests that water was once there. This is because they have
found runoff channels in the southern highlands and outflow channels that are almost
exact to how they are on Earth, which obviously does have water. The Mars
Reconnaissance Observer and Mars Express found deposits of clay in the southern
highlands that some researchers say is a strong sign that water was there. Some
others argue that the clay could be formed by other elements on Mars, such as wind.

that there is possibly another planet in our solar system that orbits beyond Neptune
but is large in size. Two scientists recently announced evidence that a body nearly
the size of Neptune that orbits the sun every 15,000 years. Since it has never been
seen, because it only orbits every 15,000 years, scientists and researchers cannot
make a factual claim on the body even though there is strong evidence of its
Television And Behavioral Analysis
Television is one of the most widely used forms of communication today; it is used
for broadcast purposes on entertainment, education, and information to people from
all around the world. There are a number of different genres a person can choose to
watch on television, all without taking a step out of their front door. Criminal
televisionshows classify as one of these genres and are one of the most popular. Most
of the time, the production of a criminal television show is where an author examines
an actual past crimeand then uses re enactments to help draw in their audience; some
common ones that are usually heard of, in the United States specifically, are CSI,
Law Order, Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc. As incorporated in the title, Criminal... Show

It is said that the harshness and brutality of this genre is crossing the borderline
and not giving exact reenactments like it s supposedly assumed to. In fact, Georgia
Hakin, in Artifice Magazine, states that, The leader of the FBI s Behavioural
Analysis Unit on Criminal Minds, Jason Gideon, departed the show after season
two for reasons revolving around familiarity of these dark scenarios, a stance
written to appear almost as art imitating life . This actor, Mandy Patinkin, had
complete access to seeing everything layed out before even put behind screen, but
still felt that this show was too dark and he should have taken into more thought on
what he was getting himself into. Instances arising out of this situation were negative
comments on the content that was showed in Criminal Minds specifically; some
people saw it as too harsh and even sick. A few of the substances that these remarks
were made off of were things like rape, abduction, hostage, torture, and the murdering
of victims. The debate at hand is whether or not this material is civilized enough for
watchers to access.
Furthermore, it is pointed out that viewing violence and then later performing violent
behavior has been proven to have a high correlation. In order for people to acquire
a knowledge of aggressive behavior, they have to be exposed to it first. According to
Steven F. Messner on JSTOR, ...residents in communities with high levels of
exposure to television violence might be less likely than those in communities with
lowers levels of exposure to report criminal incidents to the police. From past
researches, it was said that this is because of the possible fear and mistrust which is
connected with television
Mr House Case Study
Mr. House is a 55 year old white male. He has never been married, and has no
children. Mr. House was in a relationship, but his girlfriend recently broke it off but
he began to take pills again. In his professional life he is a board certified
diagnostician specializing in infectious disease and nephrology.
Mr. House talks openly about his childhood. He is the only child of John and
Blythe House. John is a retired marine, and Blythe is a stay at home mom. When
Mr. House was 12 years old he discovered that John was not his biological father.
He never found out who his real father was. Mr. House said he often rebelled
against his father, and as a result his father would discipline him by making him
take ice baths and sleeping outside. He said his father was both physically abusive
and emotionally distant. He also described his dad as both harsh and demanding.
Mr. House believes his dad s abuse may have been his way of expressing his
frustration over his wife s infidelity. Mr. House describes his mother very differently,
describing her as both loving and enabling.
Throughout his adolescent years Mr. House described himself as a loner. He said his

chronic feelings of emptiness, and inappropriate intense anger (APA, 2013).
Histrionic personality disorder can also be characterized by rapidly shifting emotions,

Media Reflective Essay
One of my clients (let s call her Alicia) has always delayed her responses to media
inquires or requests. In my line of work, we deal with monthly, weekly and even
daily deadlines, so this type of behaviour has clearly costed us many opportunities in
getting exposures in the media.I used any possible means to reach my clients, being
extra proactive while making sure she responds before the deadline. I suggested my
superior to mention it to regional office as this situation affects our business as their
public relationsconsultant. If we don t get enough media exposures as targetted, we
may lose them as a client. Alicia has started to respond the inquries and requests
almost promptly. The use of casual communication mean such as Whatsapp for a
friendlier reminder has been more effective in getting her to work as fast as our pace.
During the month of Ramadan, one of our clients held a social activity by
providing dinner box to taxi drivers around the city to break their fasting. I have
briefed our photographer to get the exact poses we needed to produce photos for the
press release. Turned out the event wasn t prepared accordingly by the management
staff and I trusted the photographer too much that I didn t supervise directly, and
resulted the photos were not press release quality. In the meantime, we needed to
distribute the press release as soon as possible as it was nearing the end of the holy

The Leading Cause Of Rumors In The Crucible By Arthur
Miller
The Truth About Rumors
Rumors are among the many dilemmas afflicting the human condition. They eat away
at society like a parasite, undermining morality and infecting good intentions with
malice and decay. Despite the fact that rumors are not always accurate, they still
spread like wildfires. Rumors are the leading cause of negativity in society. In Arthur
Miller s work, The Crucible, rumors spur mass hysteria in the colonial town of Salem
by changing people s views of a situation, undermining the self confidence of victims,
and inspiring fear among friends and neighbors.
Likewise, a person s perception and viewpoint drastically changes from rumors
whether the rumors are true or not. People often tend to believe everything they
hear, which causes society to conclude that the rumor is true without knowing all the
facts. In the Crucible, a character named Parris illustrates this by saying, She may
be. And yet it has troubled me that you are now seven month out of their house, and
in all this time no other family has ever called for your service (Miller 1 26). In
addition to their assumptions, the gossip itself leads to the false accusations of Abigail.
No matter how much gossip gets into the people of Salem s head they would never
choose to talk to the person, just about them (Decter). Jumping to conclusions causes
people to judge others unfairly and without merit causing physical and emotional
damage to anyone affected by the untruth of the rumor. This is an identical
Effects Of Media Violence On Society
Effects of Media on Society
Media violence has numerous negative consequences on youth today to commit
criminal acts in the society.
Violence in the media will never be stopped as long as the society spends more time
on violent movies and video games.
Media violence has been tremendously growing and attaining the hazardous extents.
Around 60 % of TV shows contain some kind of violence. Most self involving video
games contain some violent matter in it. For example, if you manufacture guns, you
do not need to give any advertisement, because it is done by the amusement
industry. Aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, hallucinations, and fear
of being mishandled were caused by the media violence, was explained in a 2009
Policy Statement on Media Violence, by the American Academy of Pediatrics
(Arline, 2012). The increase in aggressive behavior happens by watching violent
video shows on TV, and by playing violent video games.
The researchers found that boys and girls who played a lot of violent video games
changed over the school year. Media violence is not probable to convert a child
into a violent criminal. But, someday by just smoking a cigarette can increase the
likelihood of a lung cancer. Likewise, a violent show can increase the likelihood of
behaving in an aggressive way (Bushman and Huesmann, p. 248). There are many
reasons to be worried about the level of violence in the society, it is clearly simplistic
and confusing to hold that the major cause of criminal
Communication Is An Important Part Of Lives
Communication Challenges Communication is an important part of lives.
Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with good communication skills. Poor
communication can cause conflicts in our personal and professional lives.
However, good communication will strengthen relationships and lead to success
both personally and professionally. A little over a year ago, I went to the eye doctor
for my yearly exam; I told him that I was having trouble reading things up close.
Much to my surprise my vision had improved and my contacts were just too strong.
Before I left, we talked about ordering new contacts and new glasses since my
prescription had changed. A month later I called my eye doctor s office to see if my
new contacts had come in since I had not heard from them.
It seems that Dr. Thomason and I had a miscommunication, he thought I was coming
back to pick out glasses when he received some new frames and I thought he was
ordering contacts and I was coming back to look at the new frames when they came
in. This is just one example of how poor communication can cause problems.
In this case we were both guilty of not listening or hearing only what we want to.
Poor listening can lead to many problems. Unfortunately, even when we are good
listeners there can still be communication problems. Sometimes it is difficult to
understand what the speaker is saying. There were a lot of times at my former job
when my boss was telling me something and I did not know what he was talking
Importance of Symbols Essay
Importance of Symbols
In all novels the use of symbols are what make the story feel so real to the reader. A
symbol as simple as a bird can mean so much more then what you see. Whereas a
symbol as complicated as the sea, can mean so much less then what you thought. It
is a person perception that brings them to the true meaning of a specific symbol.
Symbols are message within a word that must be analyzed to discover. In The
Awakening, Kate Chopin conveys her ideas by using carefully crafted symbols that
reflect her characters thoughts and futures.
Early in the novel, while Edna attempts to escape from society s strong grasp, birds
emphasize her entanglement by forecasting her actions and monitor her development

Mademoiselle Reisz says, it is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised,
exhausted, fluttering back to earth (83). This bird symbolizes Edna?s struggle to
become the master of her own life as well as her failure to achieve this goal.
Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna cannot fight society and uses birds to
demonstrate this knowledge. The bird, like Edna, is the only one who possessed
sufficient candor to tell the truth about society (23).
Finally, Edna moves to what she calls her exhausted pigeon house. The name that
Edna chooses for this house implies the defeat of a bird that, in turn, implies the
defeat of Edna. Throughout Edna s life, birds reflect her actions and feelings.
All through the book, sleep is an important and reoccurring subject. Edna often
sleeps in order to recover from the stress of her awakenings. After her first solo
swim she feels the physical need for sleep [begin] to overtake her; the exuberance
which had sustained and exalted her spirit left her helpless and yielding to the
conditions which crowded her in (34). She needs sleep to repair her disheveled
emotions after her aesthetic and physical awakenings. Without sleep, Edna is
physically and mentally unable to realize her ambitions.
Another symbolic example of Edna sleeping occurs at the Church of Our Lady of
Lourdes in Cheniere Caminada. There, Edna is overcome by her emotions during
service. She realizes that she is going against

Neolithic Revolution Turning Points
Political, economic, and social conditions have often led to turning points that have
changed the course of history for nations and peoples. For instance, neolithic
revolution and the fall of Rome has greatly contributed to changes that has occurred
in history. The Neolithic Revolution was a great shift from a nomadic style of living
such as hunting into a settled down society. The idea of farming was created making
the society s life more structured. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the renaissance came
to full power. This introduced a newer and broader outlook on life. The society s
view became more secular. This became the turning point in history, causing people
to look more into logic and reasoning, causing the enlightenment. Before the
Neolithic Revolution, there was nomadic lifestyle of hunting and gathering food for
survival. People stayed in one place as long as the sources they needed to survive
was present. If sources weren t available, people would move to another place for
survival. Therefore, there was no permanent or final settlement.Due to the discovery
of farming, the Neolithic Revolution began. Once the techniques of... Show more

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that first began in Florence, Italy, and then
it later spread throughout Europe. It started around 1350 and ended around 1600.
Renaissance structured the educational and cultural advancements. Education became
more on science than simply learning what ancient authorities said. Before the
Renaissance, in the middle age, the outlook of the society was very narrow. People
believed highly on superstitions and myths rather than on the truth and the scientific
facts. Education was usually centered around the Church. It was based on Biblical
teachings and its whole purpose was to get people ready to be leaders in the
The History of Aerial Flight
On August 17th, 1917, General Jan Christian Smuts, of the Royal Flying Corps,
captured the significance that aeroplanes would play not just as an auxiliary force,
but a new form of warfare:
There is absolutely no limit to the scale of its future independent war use. And the
day may not be far off when aerial operations with their devastation of enemy lands
and destruction of industries and populous centres on a vast scale may become one
of the principal operations of war, to which the older forms of military and naval
operations may become secondary and subordinate.
It was upon this recommendation in a report written to the Air Ministry and the Air
Staff to combine the two fronts of Britain s aerial presence, to create a single
independent military branch, the Royal Air Force. On April 1st, 1918 the Royal Air
Force was formed by an Act of Parliament, and would be the only thing that stood
between them and the Nazi Luftwaffe.
The history of aerial flight is often looked at from the perspective of the great
moments, from the first flight of the Wright Brothers in 1903, to the Battle of Britain,
but many less than stellar moments have perhaps shaped the formation of aviation in
ways that may have been overlooked. Heavier than air flight, as it were, was in its
infancy of development in Britain, due to stringent financials and unwilling risk
takers. For instance, the Wright Brothers were turned away from England because the
Treasury was unwilling to financially back the

The Theory Of Language Development
As of the present, humans are the only species that are able to put together structural
linguistic formations, such as words and sentences. Throughout the years there have
been many theorists trying to master the acquisition of human language and
demonstrate the theory of how language is developed in early years of life. This is a
question people, including myself often think about. Using two theorists, Burrhus
Fredrick Skinner (1904 1990) and Avram Noam Chomsky(1928 present) we will
explore the two theories they studied in their lifetime and dedicate their life to, and
contrast the two theories of language development, exploring the Behaviorist Theory,
studied by Skinner and the Nativist Theory, studied by Chomsky.
These two theories of language development differ greatly from each other. Both
Skinner and Chomsky believed strongly in their theory. The first difference in the
development of their theories lies greatly in both of their occupations. Skinner was a
psychologist and Chomsky was a linguist. Skinner believed in the psychological side
of language development and believed that children learn to acquire language by
using taught responses where he used his reinforcement theory and believed it had
nothing to do with any mental processes or devices in the brain that develop
language. Chomsky on the other hand used the idea where he believed strongly in the
human brains capability to use the Language Acquisition Device used in the brain, and
the natural inbuilt ability

Chaucer s Parody To Courtly Love Essay example
Chaucer s Parody To Courtly Love
After the Knight tells his story, the Miller insists very rudely to tell his tale.
Chaucer uses the aspect of courtly love which is found in the Knights tale and
makes a parody of it; He uses the Miller?s character to mock the Knights idea of
courtly love.
Miller describes the heroine of his story Alison, as a wife of an older man and also
an infidel. She?s compared to a ?wezele? sly and cunning. The description of Alison
clearly indicates that she is very different from an innocent girl from courtly love
stories instead she?s well aware of her husbands jealousy and wears elaborate cloths
to show off her beauty.

Miller firstly describes Nicholas as a young scholar who stays as a paying guest with
the carpenter,
?And al above ther lay a gay sautrie,?he mad a nightes melodie?
Nicholas is described to have a decorated room, he is a lively man and depends on his
friends as he cant afford to pay all of his rent.
Chaucer continuously uses the word ?hende? when ever he refers to
Nicholas this word would usually mean gentle but as we see that
Nicholas is not described to be courteous or gracious the word is ironically used to
suggest that he is sly and opportunist. Again there is no sign of a hero from courtly
love romances.
Nicholas openly expresses his lust to Alison ?love me al atones, or I wol dyen?.
Again reflecting back to the Knights tale in which the lovers stay calm and modestly
await the time till when they can get their love. But here Miller completely mocks
that idea of the Knight and so makes a parody out of it. Alison who at first refuses to
kiss
Nicholas then within seconds agrees to sleeping with him, Nicholas very easily
persuades Alison ?spak so faire, and profred him so faste,? Chaucer shows how the
miller parody?s this with the courtly love tale of the Knight as Emily in the Knights
tale is extremely innocent about matters of love.
The second lover that the Miller introduces is Absolon who is suppose to be a parish
clerk but has extraordinary talents. He takes more care of his appearance
Argumentative Essay Abortion
Have you ever considered legalizing abortion in the country? Do you think it s a
good idea to take an innocent life? Do you think it s right to take away privileges
from an innocent child? Absolutely not! I strongly believe that legalizing abortion
will allow individuals to avoid handling responsibilities, and take away innocent lives
for no apparent reason.
In this argumentative essay, I would be arguing against legalizing abortion in the
country. The negative consequences and impacts from abortion is so enormous that it
can t be overemphasized. One of the greatest problem of legal abortion is the
horrifying inhumane prospect of abortions on demand at any point in pregnancy. I
strongly believe every unborn child have a right to live. And the termination of this
unborn child willingly for whatever reason can only be murder. The rate of abortion
in the united states per live birth as of 2015 is 12.1 abortions per 1,000 live births of
women between the ages of 15 and 44. According to statistical medical records, the
high abortion rate was mostly recorded among women in their 40 s.
In the legal aspect unlawful killing of a human being with some level of intent.
California law includes a deliberate intention unlawfully to take away the life of a
fellow creature. The only thing preventing abortion from being included in the
definition of murder is that it s currently not unlawful. But basic science proves that
an unborn child is a human being. No mention of
What Does Corinthians Mean To Me
One scripture that I enjoyed reading and analyzing was 1 Corinthians 13: 4 7 from
the New International Version. The scripture states Love is Patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is
not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does
not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes always preserves. This particular scripture stuck out to me because sometimes
I believe people forget the true meaning of love and we get so consumed with things
we think are love. This distinct scripture comes from the religionof Christianity. 1

Love does not dishonor because love is not humiliating, demeaning, or
inappropriate. To dishonor someone means to go against them, and when you
deeply and truly love someone you don t dishonor them. Love is not self seeking.
To seek is to demand and love does not insist on its own way. Love is not
possessive or stubborn. A majority of self seeking individuals are absorbed in the
next big thing some individuals become so demanding they turn into a narcissistic
individual, therefore they are not acting in love. Love is not easily angered this
reminds me of the statement Love is patient. To be patient means to not get easily
angered, love is not easily irritated. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices trusts.
Love takes no joy in evil of any kind, according to bible.org truth must make our
love discriminating, and love must make our truth compassionate and forgiving.
Love always protects, trusts, hopes, and preserves. To me, this means love protects
against all evils, when something goes terribly wrong in life it s the love that helps
us get through it. Love gives us hope for a better
Slavery And The 13th Amendment
Slavery, the state or condition of being a slave; a civil relationship whereby one
person has absolute power over another and controls his life, liberty, and fortune the
subjection of a person to another person, in being forced into work the condition of
being subject to work in harsh conditions for low pay was abolished by the 13th
amendment in 1864. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a
punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist
within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. As the 13th
Amendment abolished the traditional practice of slavery, it also legalized slavery
in a different form. The 13th amendment also creates an exception to the provision
that abolishes slavery stated that it is legal for slavery to be used as a punishment
for a crime. Although constitutionally the traditional practice of slavery in the
United States have now been deemed illegal, the mindset of the average white male
American was still the same and letting go of existing bias was did not come

of my strong points. I have experience leading and people have told me I am good
at it though I know there is always plenty of room for improvement. I do know how
to follow, but I am a leader at heart. I truly enjoy managing various projects and
seeing them come together successfully. Because I think it is important as a student
seeking a degree in Business Management to feel comfortable in leadership
positions not only in the workplace, but also in other areas of life, one of the things I
am most proud of is the fact that leadership is one of my strengths.
Not only am I a leader, but in many ways, I am also an extrovert. Being with people
is something I truly enjoy and look forward to. I believe that the people close to
me know the real me because I tend to be a very open person. I am the type of
person who loves to laugh and spend time with my friends and family, but I am not
afraid to work hard when the time comes.
Care, An Aspect Of Life And Existence Of Our Own
Existence
According to Heidegger, there is an aspect of what he refers to as care in Dasein.
Care is what makes us concerned with things in the world in which we interact with,
as well as the care of interacting with them. It is something that is fundamental to our
being in the word because its foundation it is overall something that underlines all of
Dasein. Care is what causes it to be apprehensive about our own existence. More
specifically, care is what creates the concern for life and existence of everyday things,
and what is behind those things that we interact with. Without care, we would simply
experience the world passively without any knowing of anything around us. People
would go about their days not worrying about their lives and the deeper meanings
behind their existence.
Care is also something that is correlated with Heidegger s idea that we, beings, are
constantly trying to get towards being. We are trying to get towards our original
selves, because that it what we used to be. We were born with knowing of the
nature of being, but we lost knowledge of it and we are constantly trying to gain it
back. Heidegger claimed that it is care that is responsible for the reason that we are
constantly trying to gain the knowledge that we have lost, because it is something
that we care deeply about. Care is additionally responsible for taking action on the
want by pursuing it. For instance, reading philosophy is an action motivated by care
because one of its purposes is

Introduction An ongoing debate is rife in the world of law as to whether computing
has its own law. However this debate had risen to both national and international
levels before it was quelled by individuals such as Judge Frank Easterbrook, who
stated in a ground breaking paper that there is no such thing as computer law
(Easterbrook, 1996). What is commonly called computer law actually refers to a
myriad of connected concepts that exist in current case law, and said laws are
subsequently applied to the claiming of intellectual rights for technologies of
computer software, e mail, security theorems and the Internet and other such
networks. An offshoot of this debate has been further calls for clarification as to the
specific nature of intellectual protection of software, an example of which is the EU
directive draft on the Patentability of software and other computer based inventions.
The draft is being discussed in order to unify the interpretation of the national
patentability requirements and despite it being rejected in 2005, the very existence of
this draft highlights the complex nature that enshrouds how software is perceived and

Military Child Essay

FINAL DRAFT
Military Child: Brat
Pure hell took its course on me as a young innocent girl. Being a military brat
definitely impacted my life in many challenging ways. The term military brat is
usually misunderstood by non military population. A military brat is a child from a
parent who is in the military. My mother was a commanding officer which made me
and my siblings labeled military brat The word brat (by itself) may seem negative.
However, we were taught that its not an insult but actually a term of endearment and
respect. Of course the military has a lot of traveling, family orientated, many free
services, and good food. Being a military brat was not all ... Show more content on

If we moved she would distribute more lashings. My mother was mean and called
her discipline tough love . Yeah right, my ass it wasn t tough love. She could
dissemble my door frame in five minutes taking away my privacy when I would slam
my door from anger.
She would turn off the electricity to my room so that there was no TV, curling
irons, games, or any luxury. The more my mother was a bitch the more I rebelled
with braking my curfew, sneaking out, hiding her badge, taking her files and hiding
them. The consequences of misbehavior for a military brat are generally greater than
for a civilian children.
Being labeled a brat was not a choice by any means. However, due to the challenges
I endured it has shaped and molded me into the woman I am today. A woman with
values, strength, great friendships, and unconditional love for all. No longer that
innocent girl thanks to the military who robbed me of that innocence. And It makes
want to spit when someone refers to me as a military brat. It s not a word that means
endearment or respect as we were taught.

young man named Harney Shepherdson but misses. Huck asks why Buck wanted to

neighboring clan of families, the Shepherdsons. Miss Sophia run away and later the

Huck feels that Mary Jane is very nice and so he should not let the two frauds, the
King and Duke, take all of their money. I say to myself, this is a girl that i m letting
that old reptle rob her of her money (132). Hucks believe it not right to let the two
fraud take all the money from the girls and so he was deciding rather to go tell the
truth to Mary and her sisters. Hucks feels bad for not saying anything and letting the
King and the Duke take their money. And when she got through, they all jest laid
themselves out to make me feel at home and know I was amongst friends (132).
Huck made his mind up to get the money for the girls. Here, Twain thinks it is not
right to not tell the truth and let someone go into trouble. Huck s decision in telling
Mary Jane the truth and to lie to the King and the Duke shows how Twain is saying it
is not right to watch a person take advantage of someone. It showing that telling the
truth is better than lying because not telling the truth can put a person in danger.
Huck is thinking about whether he should tell Mary Jane because the truth because

The Movie Pleasantville
The film Pleasantville shows the changes in American society over the past 50
years by placing two teenagers into the Pleasantville show, which was from the 50
s. The movie depicts how there is no longer the American Dream and no longer a
perfect way of life and the changes the world has made. The world that the teenagers
come from is filled with sex, drugs, money, and is very different from the way the
world was in which the PleasantvilleShow took place in. Morals and values have
changed in the people and in society that the teenagers came from and shows it
would be impossible to return back to the kind of life style the world had in the 50 s.
In the early 1950 s to late 1960 s the American Dream is what everyone strived for....

David and Jennifer are zapped into the 50 s Pleasantville show and become the son
and daughter.
While in the Pleasantville show, David and Jennifer cause some trouble in the town
and begin to change the views of the other students as well as their own. David and
Jennifer show other students that they can ask questions and that they can make
decisions on their own. You are able to see how people and environment are
influenced by David and Jennifer by how color is added to people and things around
them. Some embrace the changes as others fight against any change. As more
people become influenced by David and Jennifer s ideas the more color is added
to the show, which is depicting how certain changes can have a ripple effect. As
more people accepted the changes, the more color was added to the show and the
changes became their new normal and life wasn t so defined as it had been and there
were a lot more choices and acceptable scenarios of life.
In the world we live in today we understand that experiencing different things is
OK. The black and white in the film is represented by a more traditionalist value
which is how most of the world was. It was when people s personalities were kept
hidden from the rest of the world and even family members. Later in the Pleasantville
show, some characters were starting to change color
Strangeness During The Medieval Period
Strangeness during Medieval Period According to the European history, the period
between years 500 1600 has always been referred to as the medieval period. This is
because the era acted as the transition point from the old Europe to the modern
Europe. The word medieval was invented by European scholars who combined two
Latin words; medium and aevum which meant middle and age respectively.
Numerous changes marked this era. For instance, the era began with the falling of
the Roman Empire. This fall was of great importance to the European community
since it resulted in numerous positive impacts. For instance, apart from the social
and religious changes, other events that transpired during this era included the
agricultural revolution in addition to an increase in the number of scholars. Apart
from providing a detailed analysis of the medieval period, the study also focuses on
how the educated Europeans addressed anomalies in this era as well as the manner
in which they interpreted nature. Whenever there were anomalies, people of the
medieval era never panicked; instead they always strived to come up with an
explanation of the main causes of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the scholars in this era relied on the Bible for interpretations since they
believed that it contained plenty of hidden meanings that only required experts to
figure them out. Whenever there were anomalies, European communities usually
looked up to the present scholars for a solution. Apart from the scholars, they also
obtained solutions from white witches who were regarded as valuable members of
the community. The art of science was discovered in early 1600, hence marking the
end of numerous activities that were being performed during the medieval era. For
instance, apart from the abolition of interpretations, this also marked the end of the
belief in monsters and
Formal Education In Porirua Friday Night By Sam Hunt
In the poem, Porirua Friday Night by Sam Hunt, there is an important idea. An
important idea addressed in this poem is the importance of formal education. Porirua
Friday Night is about a young teenage girl from the perspective of the man in the
poem. Formal education is important to teenagers because it will help their wellbeing
and help them succeed later in life.
An important idea in the poem is formal education. Formal education is education
based inside a classroom, taught by trained teachers and is systematic. This idea of
formal education is apparent in this text as it says certain phrases such as A year
ago, she s now left school meaning that she dropped out of school a year prior to
when this poem took place and multiple quotes indicating that she is a teenager or
she is of young age such as; Acne blossoms scarlet on their cheeks , Fourteen when
I met her first and Pinned across this young girl s breast . Also, the idea of formal
education is apparent in the setting and in the title as it sets place in Porirua, a town
of low socioeconomic status meaning that the residents there have low income and
perhaps discontinuing can be a common occurrence with can explain the low
socioeconomic status with not many people having a high source of income. Being
a student partaking in formal education, I am able to relate to this idea as I like the
idea of formal education as it helps us to learn better and more clear with experienced
teachers and the environment the

The Refugee Crisis In The United States
President Barack Obama once said that The values that we are fighting against
ISIS for are precisely that we don t discriminate against people based on their faith
. This statement does not seem very true with the way that America is responding
to the refugee crisis that it is in right now. Lately it seems as if America is turning
people away due to their religion and where they are from. The people that are being
turned away are refugees specifically from the Middle East. These are people that are
running away from terrorismand war so that they can get themselves and their
families to safety. One of the biggest places that these refugees are looking to is the
United States. But due to fear among people, the U.S. is beginning to put restrictions

is because America can help save these people from the terrorism and war in their
homeland. The U.S. can offer safety and chance a better life to immigrants and
refugees. But as a nation it must make the effort to help these people. This does
not happen much because people do not realize that Refugees are men, women and
children caught in the fury of war, or the cross hairs of persecution. Far from being
terrorists, they are often the victims of terrorism themselves (Jolie). It can be seen
that many of the people that are trying to get into the country are innocent men,
women, and children. In other words, these are families that are trying to get to
safety so that they can have a future. Given that America has the ability to help and
get these families out of their war torn countries it must do so. This nation is a
place that can offer freedoms to people that no other country in the world can offer.
But the people running are not just families, many of them are professionals such as
engineers, dentists, and lawyers (White). So the people running are not just families,
but they are also professionals in very important fields of work. With the U.S. saving
these people, not only will they be helping families and these professionals, but the
U.S. can benefit from having these people in the country due to the services that they
offer. The U.S. having the ability to help and save Middle Eastern refugees from the
dangers in their countries is another reason why the U.S. should accept these
The Pros And Cons Of Slavery
Slavery is a condition of being or existence where man is no longer in control of
his own fate. It is where an individual is progressed towards becoming property of
another to be utilized and disposed of. For quite a long time, millions were utilized
and disposed, as one would do to objects of their possession. From time, men
oppressed other men for his self indulgent needs, using instinctive power and
coercion. Along these lines war turned into an ideal instrument of getting prisoners
that were later made slaves. Slaveryin the United States was the permissible
establishment of human entrapment, predominantly of Africans and African
Americans that existed in the 18th and 19th century. During the 18th and 19th
century, slavery is viewed in two different aspects; indenture servitude and chattel
slavery which is the most common form of slavery which is taught in schools and
even still happening today. Chattel slavery is the idea that the vast majority have
on their mind when they think about the sort of slavery that existed in the United
States previously the Civil War, and that existed lawfully all through many parts of
the world as far back as written history. Slaves were real property who could be
purchased, sold, exchanged or obtained through one s family. Slaves in this setting
have no freedom or perceived rights to choose the manner of their own lives. While
indenture servitude were men and women who signed a contract by which they
agreed to work for a certain number of

The origins are not well known but it is thought to have evolved from ancestor worship and animism. While practitioners believe in only one true God they communicate with him through thousands of different spirits and shrines. It is practiced in many different countries and although they all have for the most part the same beliefs some of their practices are different. • 4. Roman Architecture And Architecture As the Roman empire expanded their infrastructure over the years, they created some of the most astounding engineering architectural developments. The Romans were world known for their bridges, roads, tunnels, arches, vaults, and impressive aqueducts. In addition, the Roman builders were able to dominate the landscape with massive man made monoliths (Engineering an Empire, 2014). Their extensive experience with the use of concrete enabled them to produce some elaborate meeting halls, baths, and amphitheaters. Many of their constructions are still standing today showing their exceptional engineering skills, practicality, and resourcefulness. Ultimately, Roman leaders and engineers improved on past ideas and developments by modifying materials and techniques that revolutionized architectural construction. The Romans were constantly expanding their empire outward and realized that running water was life. Therefore, they decided to look inward into improving and preserving their quality of life in their capital city through a water distribution system. The aqueducts developed by Roman engineers delivered 200 million gallons of fresh water a day into Rome s major cities as well as a drainage and sewer system. However, the construction of aqueducts was quite challenging. The Romans engineered their aqueducts by approaching the city on a gradual gradient (Engineering an Empire, 2014). The gradient was consistently calculated from long distances to the actual source in the

Relationships can vary from person to person based on the type of connection you have with them. There are the relationships with family, relationships with friends, and then the relationship with a significant other. With sufficient amounts of research being done daily on all aspects of relationships and how they work, there is a significant gap in the study of college students and how they view the importance of a committed relationship. With the appearance of this gap, I am doing my research in this field and on college aged students. The key concept when developing this study is how serious and committed relationships are built and treated among college students. This study will examine the way males and females in college perceive the importance of relationships and how they participate in the different variations and if these variations change the way students look at relationships. Recent research barely touched on relationship styles, especially in college age males and females. I would like to know what males and females in their freshman and senior year in college are looking for in an intimate type of relationship. The purpose of this study is to identify how males opinions about serious committed relationships change from their freshman year in college to their senior year in college and how females opinions about serious committed

The Lamassu is an enormous piece in weight as well as height. The Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen is also an enormous piece, but instead, the height is the only thing that sets it apart from the Statue of King Tutankhamen. The height of both pieces is very intimidating because they are both taller in relation to people. With both pieces being this tall, the viewer is able to interact with the pieces more than the smaller ones. The statues are both reliefs, but the Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen is around relief. This statue allows the viewers to walk around the statue and get a clear idea of what the artist was trying to express with this piece. The Lamassu is also a relief sculpture, but instead, the viewer is unable to fully walk around the relief. This artwork can only be seen from the very front as well as the side, this was how the artist intended to express the artwork. The artwork is similar as well as very different in many ways. The styles of birth of the pieces are extremely different and this is very noticeable. The Colossal statue of King Tutankhamen looks very Egyptian based on the way the statue is designed many of the facial features resemble the Egyptian culture. The Lamassu statue resembles more of an Assyrian style based on the facial features. The structures of both pieces are basically different from one another. The statue of

During the summer, Gene experiences the better things that the school has to offer, like regular outdoor activities and minimal supervision, along with Finny and his eccentric personality. However, during the regular school year, the atmosphere at Devon quickly becomes more dark, with the pressure to enlist in the war one of the top student concerns. Finny s broken leg also causes problems with continuing the cheerful attitude from the summer because of the unresolved tension between him and Gene, which impacts the overall atmosphere of Devon because Finny used to be a strong and influencing character in the school. Devon is also where Brinker, one of Gene s friends, holds a trial among their classmates to determine whether or not Gene is really guilty of hurting Finny, which also ends in disaster when Finny falls down a flight of stairs and breaks his leg again. The final, and most impacting, event that Devon holds for Gene is the end of a friendship when Finny dies due to bone marrow reaching his heart, causing him to realize that the true enemy is the one within himself, not the ones being attacked in the

Practical lessons in craft based subjects became firmly established in secondary schools in the UK in the 1960s through to the 1970s. Design and Technology was first introduced into the school curriculum in England and Wales in 1989. (Martin and Owen Jackson, 2013, Owen Jackson, pg.65) Design and Technology originates from craft based traditions, industrial and manufacturing practices and embracing new technologies. Design and Technology is both a skill focused and knowledgefocused subject in that it is about what they make and also what they learn. Design and Technology is a dynamic endlessly changing subject with the skills and knowledge surrounding the subject developing with time. Principles and concepts surrounding Design Technology must remain relevant to the time in order for students to gain the most from the subject. The National Curriculum was first introduced in 1988 with technology as a compulsory subject for pupils aged 5 16. In 1995 it was revised and renamed Design Technology which include Resistant Materials, Systems Control, Food and Textiles. In 2007 Design Technology became compulsory for pupils in Key Stage 1 to 3, and KS4 and KS5 students had a choice as to whether they wanted to study it further as a GCSE or A level. Dostoevsky as Performer Essay Dostoevsky as Performer Storytelling and reading aloud played a valuable part in young Fyodor s life, influencing his own later successful writing endeavors as well as his performance of literature. His nanny and wet nurse introduced the Dostoevsky children to folklore and lives of the saints through the stories they told. Nanny Alyona Frolovna told the children stories of ancient Russia, of Saint Sergey of Moscow subduing a bear by the power of his holiness, of heroes and legends and folk tales, Christianity and Russian myth intertwined ; the stories were so vivid and frightening that the children had trouble sleeping (Gunn 10). The Gothic novels of Ann Radcliffe were favorites of the Dostoevskys. Frank contends that Dostoevsky, influenced by Radcliffe, would later incorporate Gothic techniques of plot, character, and atmosphere and carry them to a peak of perfection that has never been surpassed (1976, 55). Among the literature read and discussed by the Dostoevsky fireside were the Bible, writings of Nikolai Karamzin, including History of the Russian State, Letters of a Russian Traveller, and Poor Liza; the poets Vasily Zhukovsky, Mikhail Y. Lermontov, Gavriil R. Derzhavin, and, of course, Alexander Pushkin; and the novelist Sir Walter Scott. Frank believes that the readings in the family circle were designed to stimulate and benefit the children and to turn them into Godfearing and loyal citizens of the Tsar (1976, 5960). Geir Kjetsaa reports that the Dostoevsky parents were fine readers and the two oldest boys [Mikhail and Fyodor] did not lag far behind them and is convinced that for Fyodor these reading sessions served as a literary foundation for his entire life (10). The influence of Fyodor s mother, his first teacher, was no doubt strong as she conveyed her love of poetry and novels as well as music. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites In Oil Industry COMPOSITES IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY Composite materials are multiphase materials obtained through the artificial combination of different materials in order to attain properties that the individual components by themselves cannot attain. They are not multiphase materials in which the different phases are formed naturally by reactions, phase transformations, or other phenomena. An example is carbon fiber reinforced polymer. Composite materials should be distinguished from alloys, which can comprise two more components but are formed naturally through processes such as casting. Composite materials can be tailored for various properties by appropriately choosing their components, their proportions, their distributions, their morphologies, their degrees of crystallinity, their crystallographic textures, as well as the structure and composition of the interface between components. • 14. Child Labour And Indi Causes, Challenges And Legislations Child Labour in India: Causes, Challenges and Legislations to combat the malaise. Abstract: Child labour continues to be a problem even today in many parts of the world. These children are mostly inhabitants of poor undeveloped nations of South America, Africa and Asia. They live in harsh conditions with almost no access to education. The income earned by them, however minimal, is necessary to feed and clothe their families who are dependent on them. The families have no other option but to push their children to work in various informal industrial and agricultural sectors in order to make ends meet. They are simply not aware of the harm this does to their young children nor is there an orientation to send these children to school instead. The Government of India has taken a lot of legal initiatives in order to address this serious issue of child labour. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been proactively involved in the eradication of this malaise plaguing Indian society. India is also a participant in the United Nation s International Program on Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) under the aegis of ILO. The present paper will look at the various causes which lead to child labour, the international and national legislations that are in place to eliminate this glaring menace and the steps which must be taken in order to abolish child labour in the country. The geography of Mars suggests that water was once there. This is because they have found runoff channels in the southern highlands and outflow channels that are almost exact to how they are on Earth, which obviously does have water. The Mars Reconnaissance Observer and Mars Express found deposits of clay in the southern highlands that some researchers say is a strong sign that water was there. Some others argue that the clay could be formed by other elements on Mars, such as wind. Television And Behavioral Analysis Television is one of the most widely used forms of communication today; it is used for broadcast purposes on entertainment, education, and information to people from all around the world. There are a number of different genres a person can choose to watch on television, all without taking a step out of their front door. Criminal televisionshows classify as one of these genres and are one of the most popular. Most of the time, the production of a criminal television show is where an author examines an actual past crimeand then uses re enactments to help draw in their audience; some common ones that are usually heard of, in the United States specifically, are CSI, Law Order, Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc. As incorporated in the title, Criminal... In fact, Georgia Hakin, in Artifice Magazine, states that, The leader of the FBI s Behavioural Analysis Unit on Criminal Minds, Jason Gideon, departed the show after season two for reasons revolving around familiarity of these dark scenarios, a stance written to appear almost as art imitating life . This actor, Mandy Patinkin, had complete access to seeing everything layed out before even put behind screen, but still felt that this show was too dark and he should have taken into more thought on what he was getting himself into. Instances arising out of this situation were negative comments on the content that was showed in Criminal Minds specifically; some people saw it as too harsh and even sick. A few of the substances that these remarks were made off of were things like rape, abduction, hostage, torture, and the murdering of victims. The debate at hand is whether or not this material is civilized enough for watchers to access. Furthermore, it is pointed out that viewing violence and then later performing violent behavior has been proven to have a high correlation. In order for people to acquire a knowledge of aggressive behavior, they have to be exposed to it first. According to Steven F. Messner on JSTOR, ...residents in communities with high levels of exposure to television violence might be less likely than those in communities with lowers levels of exposure to report criminal incidents to the police. They eat away at society like a parasite, undermining morality and infecting good intentions with malice and decay. Despite the fact that rumors are not always accurate, they still spread like wildfires. Rumors are the leading cause of negativity in society. In Arthur Miller s work, The Crucible, rumors spur mass hysteria in the colonial town of Salem by changing people s views of a situation, undermining the self confidence of victims, and inspiring fear among friends and neighbors. Likewise, a person s perception and viewpoint drastically changes from rumors whether the rumors are true or not. People often tend to believe everything they hear, which causes society to conclude that the rumor is true without knowing all the facts. In the Crucible, a character named Parris illustrates this by saying, She may be. And yet it has troubled me that you are now seven month out of their house, and in all this time no other family has ever called for your service (Miller 1 26). In addition to their assumptions, the gossip itself leads to the false accusations of Abigail. No matter how much gossip gets into the people of Salem s head they would never choose to talk to the person, just about them (Decter). Jumping to conclusions causes people to judge others unfairly and without merit causing physical and emotional damage to anyone affected by the untruth of the rumor. This is an identical
  • 30. Effects Of Media Violence On Society Effects of Media on Society Media violence has numerous negative consequences on youth today to commit criminal acts in the society. Violence in the media will never be stopped as long as the society spends more time on violent movies and video games. Media violence has been tremendously growing and attaining the hazardous extents. Around 60 % of TV shows contain some kind of violence. Most self involving video games contain some violent matter in it. For example, if you manufacture guns, you do not need to give any advertisement, because it is done by the amusement industry. Aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, hallucinations, and fear of being mishandled were caused by the media violence, was explained in a 2009 Policy Statement on Media Violence, by the American Academy of Pediatrics (Arline, 2012). The increase in aggressive behavior happens by watching violent video shows on TV, and by playing violent video games. The researchers found that boys and girls who played a lot of violent video games changed over the school year. Media violence is not probable to convert a child into a violent criminal. But, someday by just smoking a cigarette can increase the likelihood of a lung cancer. Likewise, a violent show can increase the likelihood of behaving in an aggressive way (Bushman and Huesmann, p. 248). There are many reasons to be worried about the level of violence in the society, it is clearly simplistic and confusing to hold that the major cause of criminal

Poor communication can cause conflicts in our personal and professional lives. However, good communication will strengthen relationships and lead to success both personally and professionally. A little over a year ago, I went to the eye doctor for my yearly exam; I told him that I was having trouble reading things up close. Much to my surprise my vision had improved and my contacts were just too strong. Before I left, we talked about ordering new contacts and new glasses since my prescription had changed. A month later I called my eye doctor s office to see if my new contacts had come in since I had not heard from them. It seems that Dr. Thomason and I had a miscommunication, he thought I was coming back to pick out glasses when he received some new frames and I thought he was ordering contacts and I was coming back to look at the new frames when they came in. This is just one example of how poor communication can cause problems. In this case we were both guilty of not listening or hearing only what we want to. Poor listening can lead to many problems. Unfortunately, even when we are good listeners there can still be communication problems. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what the speaker is saying. There were a lot of times at my former job when my boss was telling me something and I did not know what he was talking

A symbol as simple as a bird can mean so much more then what you see. Whereas a symbol as complicated as the sea, can mean so much less then what you thought. It is a person perception that brings them to the true meaning of a specific symbol. Symbols are message within a word that must be analyzed to discover. This bird symbolizes Edna?s struggle to become the master of her own life as well as her failure to achieve this goal. Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna cannot fight society and uses birds to demonstrate this knowledge. The bird, like Edna, is the only one who possessed sufficient candor to tell the truth about society (23). Finally, Edna moves to what she calls her exhausted pigeon house. The name that Edna chooses for this house implies the defeat of a bird that, in turn, implies the defeat of Edna. Throughout Edna s life, birds reflect her actions and feelings. All through the book, sleep is an important and reoccurring subject. Edna often sleeps in order to recover from the stress of her awakenings. After her first solo swim she feels the physical need for sleep [begin] to overtake her; the exuberance which had sustained and exalted her spirit left her helpless and yielding to the conditions which crowded her in (34). She needs sleep to repair her disheveled emotions after her aesthetic and physical awakenings. Without sleep, Edna is physically and mentally unable to realize her ambitions. Another symbolic example of Edna sleeping occurs at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Cheniere Caminada. There, Edna is overcome by her emotions during service. She realizes that she is going against

The History of Aerial Flight On August 17th, 1917, General Jan Christian Smuts, of the Royal Flying Corps, captured the significance that aeroplanes would play not just as an auxiliary force, but a new form of warfare: There is absolutely no limit to the scale of its future independent war use. And the day may not be far off when aerial operations with their devastation of enemy lands and destruction of industries and populous centres on a vast scale may become one of the principal operations of war, to which the older forms of military and naval operations may become secondary and subordinate. It was upon this recommendation in a report written to the Air Ministry and the Air Staff to combine the two fronts of Britain s aerial presence, to create a single independent military branch, the Royal Air Force. On April 1st, 1918 the Royal Air Force was formed by an Act of Parliament, and would be the only thing that stood between them and the Nazi Luftwaffe. The history of aerial flight is often looked at from the perspective of the great moments, from the first flight of the Wright Brothers in 1903, to the Battle of Britain, but many less than stellar moments have perhaps shaped the formation of aviation in ways that may have been overlooked. Throughout the years there have been many theorists trying to master the acquisition of human language and demonstrate the theory of how language is developed in early years of life. This is a question people, including myself often think about. Using two theorists, Burrhus Fredrick Skinner (1904 1990) and Avram Noam Chomsky(1928 present) we will explore the two theories they studied in their lifetime and dedicate their life to, and contrast the two theories of language development, exploring the Behaviorist Theory, studied by Skinner and the Nativist Theory, studied by Chomsky. These two theories of language development differ greatly from each other. Both Skinner and Chomsky believed strongly in their theory. The first difference in the development of their theories lies greatly in both of their occupations. Skinner was a psychologist and Chomsky was a linguist. Skinner believed in the psychological side of language development and believed that children learn to acquire language by using taught responses where he used his reinforcement theory and believed it had nothing to do with any mental processes or devices in the brain that develop language. Chomsky on the other hand used the idea where he believed strongly in the human brains capability to use the Language Acquisition Device used in the brain, and the natural inbuilt ability

Nicholas is described to have a decorated room, he is a lively man and depends on his friends as he cant afford to pay all of his rent. Chaucer continuously uses the word ?hende? when ever he refers to Nicholas this word would usually mean gentle but as we see that Nicholas is not described to be courteous or gracious the word is ironically used to suggest that he is sly and opportunist. Again there is no sign of a hero from courtly love romances. Nicholas openly expresses his lust to Alison ?love me al atones, or I wol dyen?. Again reflecting back to the Knights tale in which the lovers stay calm and modestly await the time till when they can get their love. But here Miller completely mocks that idea of the Knight and so makes a parody out of it. Alison who at first refuses to kiss Nicholas then within seconds agrees to sleeping with him, Nicholas very easily persuades Alison ?spak so faire, and profred him so faste,? Chaucer shows how the miller parody?s this with the courtly love tale of the Knight as Emily in the Knights tale is extremely innocent about matters of love. The second lover that the Miller introduces is Absolon who is suppose to be a parish clerk but has extraordinary talents. He takes more care of his appearance

In this argumentative essay, I would be arguing against legalizing abortion in the country. The negative consequences and impacts from abortion is so enormous that it can t be overemphasized. One of the greatest problem of legal abortion is the horrifying inhumane prospect of abortions on demand at any point in pregnancy. I strongly believe every unborn child have a right to live. • 45. Care, An Aspect Of Life And Existence Of Our Own Existence According to Heidegger, there is an aspect of what he refers to as care in Dasein. Care is what makes us concerned with things in the world in which we interact with, as well as the care of interacting with them. It is something that is fundamental to our being in the word because its foundation it is overall something that underlines all of Dasein. Care is what causes it to be apprehensive about our own existence. More specifically, care is what creates the concern for life and existence of everyday things, and what is behind those things that we interact with. Without care, we would simply experience the world passively without any knowing of anything around us. People would go about their days not worrying about their lives and the deeper meanings behind their existence. Care is also something that is correlated with Heidegger s idea that we, beings, are constantly trying to get towards being. We are trying to get towards our original selves, because that it what we used to be. We were born with knowing of the nature of being, but we lost knowledge of it and we are constantly trying to gain it back. Heidegger claimed that it is care that is responsible for the reason that we are constantly trying to gain the knowledge that we have lost, because it is something that we care deeply about. Care is additionally responsible for taking action on the want by pursuing it. For instance, reading philosophy is an action motivated by care because one of its purposes is

However this debate had risen to both national and international levels before it was quelled by individuals such as Judge Frank Easterbrook, who stated in a ground breaking paper that there is no such thing as computer law (Easterbrook, 1996). What is commonly called computer law actually refers to a myriad of connected concepts that exist in current case law, and said laws are subsequently applied to the claiming of intellectual rights for technologies of computer software, e mail, security theorems and the Internet and other such networks. An offshoot of this debate has been further calls for clarification as to the specific nature of intellectual protection of software, an example of which is the EU directive draft on the Patentability of software and other computer based inventions. The draft is being discussed in order to unify the interpretation of the national patentability requirements and despite it being rejected in 2005, the very existence of this draft highlights the complex nature that enshrouds how software is perceived and subsequently

This does not happen much because people do not realize that Refugees are men, women and children caught in the fury of war, or the cross hairs of persecution. Far from being terrorists, they are often the victims of terrorism themselves (Jolie). It can be seen that many of the people that are trying to get into the country are innocent men, women, and children. In other words, these are families that are trying to get to safety so that they can have a future. Given that America has the ability to help and get these families out of their war torn countries it must do so. This nation is a place that can offer freedoms to people that no other country in the world can offer. But the people running are not just families, many of them are professionals such as engineers, dentists, and lawyers (White). So the people running are not just families, but they are also professionals in very important fields of work. With the U.S. saving these people, not only will they be helping families and these professionals, but the U.S. can benefit from having these people in the country due to the services that they offer. The U.S. having the ability to help and save Middle Eastern refugees from the dangers in their countries is another reason why the U.S. should accept these
