Compare And Contrast Essay Outline.pdf
1. Compare And Contrast Essay Outline
Crafting a compare and contrast essay outline may initially seem like a straightforward task, but
delving into the intricacies of the process reveals its inherent challenges. To begin with,
identifying suitable subjects for comparison requires a keen understanding of the topic at hand.
Selecting two entities that not only share similarities but also exhibit noteworthy differences
demands a thoughtful analysis of the subject matter.
Once the subjects are chosen, the task of developing a coherent outline presents its own set of
difficulties. The structure of a compare and contrast essay demands a careful balance between
highlighting similarities and differences. Ensuring that the essay flows logically and maintains a
clear line of argument requires meticulous planning and organization.
Research plays a pivotal role in enhancing the depth and credibility of the essay. Gathering
relevant information on both subjects and identifying reliable sources demands time and effort.
The challenge lies in sifting through a plethora of information to extract the most pertinent
details that contribute meaningfully to the essay's overarching theme.
Furthermore, maintaining a neutral and objective tone while presenting the comparative analysis
can be challenging. Striking a balance between providing insightful observations and avoiding
biased perspectives requires finesse in language and argumentation.
In conclusion, writing a compare and contrast essay outline entails navigating through the
complexities of subject selection, structuring, research, and maintaining objectivity. It is a task
that demands not only a solid understanding of the topic but also effective communication skills.
However, despite the challenges, mastering the art of crafting compelling compare and contrast
essays can be a rewarding endeavor.

The Spiritual Factor: Examining the role spirituality plays in the development of
African American Males attending Predominately White Christian Institutions
Abstract
This study examined the role that spirituality plays in the development of African
American males who attend predominately white Christian institutions (PCIs). This
hermeneutic phenomenological study focused on Christian college students who
were African Americanmales ages 18 21 and identified as evangelical Christian.
Findings illustrated
The Spiritual Factor: Examining the role spirituality plays in the development of
African American Males attending Predominately White Christian Institutions
Historically, spirituality has played an important role in the lives of African
Americans. Religion and spirituality has saturated various areas of African
American life and its roots can be traced into different areas of life whether directly
or indirectly, some form of religion or spirituality can be found in the cultural fabric
of African Americans ( ). During slavery, slaves relied upon their faith to withstand
the trials and tribulations of the times often using old Negro spirituals to
communicate directions and codes on how to get toward freedom (citation). During
the civil rights era where the Black church was a platform for social change, there
was a frequent use of the church to spread the word of the civil rights agenda from
the pulpit (Battle, 2006). African American families
3. Cesar Chavez Non Violence
A girth of Cesar Chavez s accomplishments as a union leader and labor organizer
came to be in the 60s, as he stressed his union and supporters to use nonviolent
resistance as to means to gain better pay, treatment, and working conditions. Through
Chavez s use of juxtaposition, repetition, and pathos , he attempts to convince the
audience of the progressive impact of nonviolenceand the regressive impact of
violence. Throughout each paragraph, Chavez continuously mentions and
contrasts nonviolence to violence. In paragraph 4, he speaks of the effects of
violence, violence will be escalated and there will be many injuries and perhaps
deaths on both sides or there will be a total demoralization on the workers (Chavez,
Paragraph 4). Chavez has already established that his topic of nonviolence is in
relation to farm workers and is telling those people how regressive violence as a
strategy is to their movement. Defending the nonviolent resistance with the impact of
injury, death, and demoralization of workers as an effect of a violent resistance.
Chavez then follows with the impact, or effect, of nonviolence, we attract people s
support. We can gather the support of millions who have a conscience and would
rather see a nonviolent resolution to problems (Chavez, Paragraph 5). Showing the

This connection helps Chavez further convince his audience that nonviolent
resistance is not only an ideal strategy for just the audience but for all on the union.
He states that violence simply doesn t work and only brings temporary success,
while nonviolence creates a union, allowing masses of people to participate actively
in a cause (Chavez, Paragraph
4. Donald Trump s Foreign Policy Essay
When Donald trump announced his candidacy it was somewhat of a joke to some
of the establish GOP members, but as time went on it became clearer that he is what
the American public wanted. Donald Trump is a man that to the public may seem
like he has no idea what the is doing, but that is not the truth at all. Walter Meade
said that, In both domestic and foreign policy, this century will be profoundly
influenced by the values and concerns of Jacksonian America (Mead 2002, 231).
Donald Trumpembodies those Jacksonian principles almost down to the mark, with a
small percentage of Jeffersonian thrown in. He believes in first and foremost
protecting America and its interests while still protecting the liberties at home, and
that is what has shaped and will shape his foreign policy if and when he becomes
president.
We will examine how Donald Trumps foreign policies align with the Jeffersonian
school of thought first. In Jeffersonianism the core belief is that liberty is infinitely
precious, and almost as infinitely fragile (Mead 2002, 183). This meaning that liberty
is the most important thing to Jeffersonian s. One of Donald Trump s main proposals
is to protect our constitutional liberties (Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. n.d.). He
sees this as an important and vital part of the governments job, like the Jeffersonians
do. Jeffersonians are also skeptical of just about everything, including Washington
insiders, which Donald Trump has taken great pride in not being. It
5. My Study On A Small Sample Size Of Eight School Leaders
I recognize three considerations to my study: (1) sample size, (2) subjectivity, and
(3) trustworthiness of my research that need to be acknowledged. The first
consideration of my study is based on a small sample size of eight school leaders. I
ve come to recognize that my findings in this narrative study can only be
generalized by the lived experiences and told stories given by each of the selected
principals in the study. An important perspective in narrative studies is that a small
sample sizeallows only for researchers to provide the context and content of those
participants in the study. And by capturing the entire story as told by my selected
participants, I will be in the right position to present a more holistic grounding of
their work as school leaders in pursuit of equity. Indeed, additional studies that desire
to engage this kind of researchis sorely needed in order to broaden and/or augment
the findings of such a study. I believe the current value of this study is its ability to
capture the nuances of leadership practices, dispositions, and challenges that can
better inform school leadership for the just rights of others. A second consideration
significant to this study is my positionality. I recognize this research study is
vulnerable to my own positionality and my experiences in educational spaces. Alcoff
(1988) argues positionality results from the influences of our experiences in our
changing historical context and how we choose to act/contribute upon
6. How Does Frieda Escape Inertia
The love and companionship of Liza and Frieda enter the narrative as the only
cures to the protagonists stifling feeling of inertia. However, the men are unable
to escape inertia with their women and therefore slip back into the circular pattern
of inertia as before. Bell presents the idea that, for the Underground Man, Liza can
be seen as an indication of a truly viable alternative to the crystal palace, and
consequently, also to the underground (Bell 142). Due to her willingness to listen to
and connect with the Underground Man, Liza s love could have been the antidote
to the Underground Man s inert solitude. His agony waiting for her to come back to
see her again is proven in his explicit desire to escape inertia, cry with her, and...

It was only through the continuation of their love that both of them would be able
to combat inertia, which Pepi directly states when talking to K. (Kafka 270). In
both cases, both the men and the women understand their love as an escape.
However, by giving money to Liza for her act of love, the Underground Man
destroys his opportunity to escape from his state of inertia (Dostoevsky 119 120).
In K. s case, his negligence of his love caused her to abandon him. This moment
destory s K. s previous drive for progress: I am tired, I long to be even more
entirely unoccupied (Kafka 268). While previously he was inspired to work for
her wellbeing, when Frieda leaves, K. loses his desire for working and explicitly
embraces inertia in longing to be even more unoccupied (Kafka 163). To cope with
their loss of love, the two protagonists return to their inert state and try to
rationalize it as the best situation. The Underground Man sees his inertia as a thing
to be proud of: the rest of the world is too cowardly to reject society like he has
(Dostoevsky 123). Even though his degradation is not pleasant, it is better than the
Crystal Palace way of life, and he sees no feasible other alternative, given that he
threw away his one potential

1) Interest in Position
Explain why you are interested in the RA position and what skills you possess that
make you a good candidate for the position.
My interest in a Resident Assistant position comes from my desire to help. I was
born with a very strong sense of empathy and if I see that a person is struggling I
do all that I can do to alleviate them. Whether it is a person with a learning
disability who struggled in class to the weirdo in high school who just wanted a
friend, I ve been there for them. Nothing is more painful to me than seeing a
person being mistreated, under respected or neglected and I do all I can to protect
people from this. My goal is to make every person feel as if they have someone on

By living my life intentionally, I hope that others will follow suit. 4) Community
Development
What is the importance of community? Please talk about your experience with
working with diverse groups of people and how you interact with others that are
different from you in a community setting.
Community is the difference between being and belonging. It is just too easy to
just be a part of a group, but to feel like you belong to the group is far more
meaningful. You can go to the meetings and know everyone s names but none of that
means anything if you don t feel that you are a significant component in a group. To
be a part of a community means that you are a part of group where inclusion, support
and friendship are highly regarded. The beauty about community is that everyone has
their own gifts, talents, opinions and experiences to offer to it, therefore making each
member valuable. As a Resident Assistant, I intend to create an inclusive community
in which each person is accepted and encouraged regardless of race, gender, religion,
sexual orientation or ability. By promoting diversity in my community, I hope that
everyone gains a sense of belonging. In my community, I will have an open mind and
tolerant attitude and will encourage my residents to do the same. Because
understanding that no two residents are the same, I will conduct myself through
equity. I will try to learn about my residents individually so if
8. Feminist Criticism In Shilooh By Bobbie Ann Mason
I really enjoyed reading Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason, which was a great short
story that signified feminist criticism. Feminist criticism is known to be portrayed
as criticism formed and based of a feminist theory, in other words it s the way society
sees gender roles. In this case, in the short story Shiloh, they mention many points
and examples throughout the story on how one of the main characters Norma Jean,
has to face many issues and overcome obstacles based on her gender, being a woman.
They basically imply the way society sees woman playing only certain roles but at
the same time challenging the idea of it.
In the story Shiloh, Norma Jean faces many dilemmas involving gender roles. To
begin with she got married when she was 18 which resulted in her having a baby.
Her mom, Mabel, didn t want her to have a kid knowing that it wasn t going to turn
out good, which was proven correct when Norma lost her baby at 4 months old.
Since then she had been living with her husband Leroy, who happened to hardly be
home due to work. Throughout that whole time while Leroy worked, she stayed
home like a typical housewife but things started to change after some time. Norma
started getting used to his absence, provoking her to do her own thing and to
become her own person. For once she had felt independendent like she was able to
do her own things instead of living up to everyones else expectations. When Leroy
got into the car accident at work that drastically affected Norma preventing

administrator I need to familiarize myself with the Special Education Rules Title
511 Article 7 Rules 32 49 (Indiana Dept. of Ed, 2014). Article 7 was brought to my
attention by my special education coordinator at Laurel School Mrs. Christy Sheehan.
This article will help me access the guidelines of Least Restrictive Environment

Mrs. Sheehan. This article will help me indicate what key areas I need to know as
a future administrator. As I become an administrator I know I will have to
familiarize myself with the entire 134 page article, but for now I will focus in on
five areas. This article and area of study is new to me being a physical education
teacher that isn t familiar with all the laws of special education. It can be
overwhelming looking into this document, but as an administrator I need to
familiarize myself with all aspects of education. When diving into the article the
first area I noticed that would help me as a future administrator was identification
of homeless students and how to identify them. This issue probably isn t discussed
by many in our class. As a Title I, educator I have experienced a lot of students who
do not have the best home life. At Laurel School we have several students who do
not live with their guardian s full time and bounce from home to home. As an

10. Essay on Charles W. Chestnutt’s The Conjure Woman
Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman
The first half of Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman begins with the
interaction between a Northern white male and the conventional portrayal of a
slave. In the novel an old ex plantation slave, Julius, recounts stories that he says he
heard as a child. The audience of the stories is the white Northern male, who is the
narrator of the story, and his sickly wife, Annie. The stories are told for many
purposes but my favorite reason behind the telling of the tales is Julius attempt and in
most cases achievement to acquire several things by this sly action.
From the time that Julian the slave meets John, the Northerner and narrator, the
stories begin to roll off his tongue. Julian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the stories where Julius is able to get something he desires is the one of Po
Sandy. The drastic lovestory and conjuring magic are just enough to distract the
couple from perceiving what is occurring. Julian tells of how two slaves are in love
with one another, Sandy and Tenie, but Sandy is passed around to different
plantations because of his great work. Tenie decides that to keep them together she
can turn him into a tree. He becomes a tree but one day Tenie is away in town
taking care of someone and the tree is cut down to make the past owner s wife. The
rumor began that one is able to hear moans from the lumber in the newly built
kitchen. It ends up that Tenie dies on the floor of the kitchen and the narrator, John,
believes that the story is unbelievable while Annie seems to be worried about the
outcome of the black couples love. The whole story is initiated with the narrator
saying he is going to make the old schoolyard into the kitchen. Julian then chimes in
that it is a bad idea because it is haunted and then it shows immediately following the
story Julian is holding church meetings in the supposed haunted schoolhouse that no
one should be alone in.
11. The Importance Of An Epic Hero In Beowulf
An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great
achievements or affected by grand events. The epic hero, a cultural legend, embarks
on a quest in search of fame and glory, and encounters challenges throughout their
journey. No matter the adversity, the epic hero maintains bravery and courage,
never backing down. However, what the epic hero does not know is that the real
reason for a quest is always self knowledge (Foster 3). In the epic Beowulf,
Anonymous employs the affection of a king, bravery in battle, an eternal quest
and a lasting legacy to show Beowulf as an epic hero. Beowulf embodies the Anglo
Saxon archetype of an epic hero. A key moment in Beowulf, is when king Hrothgar
welcomes Beowulf to his kingdom and says But to table, Beowulf, a banquet in
your honor:/Let us toast your victories, and talk of the future (ll. 223 224). Here it
is shown that even a king is acknowledging Beowulf s bravery and is throwing him
a feast, one of the highest honors a king could bestow upon anyone, showing
Hrothgar s great admiration for Beowulf. During the feast when Unferth questions
Beowulf s honor, Beowulf refutes his claims and inspires king Hrothgar with a
speech: The Geats will show him courage, soon/He can test his strength in battle. And
when the sun/Comes up again, opening another/Bright day from the south, anyone in
Denmark will be able to enter Herot (ll. 335 338). Much like they typical Anglo

13. Alcohol and the Brain
Alcohol and the Brain
In chemistry terms, alcohol is any organic compound where a hydroxyl group is
bound to a carbon atom, which is has single bonds to three other atoms. The type of
alcohol that can be consumed is called Ethanol which is a liquid and psychoactive
recreational drugs. If a person drinks Ethanol, or alcohol, it affects the central nervous
system, which causes decrease in activity, anxiety, tensions, concentration, and
judgement. There are also several cases of memory loss due to heavy drinking that
cuts off the supply of oxygen to the brain.
Most of us have witnessed the effects of alcohol, whether it be slurring words, lack
of balance, or lack of judgement. These physical signs occur due to the effect of
alcohol in our brains and central nervous system. Although many of us have
witnessed or experienced effects of alcohol, very few of us have knowledge of what
exactly is happening to our body and brain when consuming alcohol. It has always
been evident that alcohol has an effect on the brain, which can in turn impair the
behavior and thinking processes of individuals. However, most of society is unaware
of the chemical reaction that is occurring within their body and brains every time they
consume alcohol. Alcohol affects brain chemistry by the altering levels of
neurotransmitters. Alcohol increases the effects of the inhibitory neurotransmitters
GABA in the brain, causing slower or sluggish movements and slurred speech that is
a common occurrence with
14. Division Of Labor By Adam Smith
Intro In this chapter, Adam Smith argued about the concept of division of labor
because you have to use resource in the right way that you can get the highest
productivity. Division of labor in manufacture is the way that the firm subdivided
labor into the steps, different labor divide in different step like the example about pin
factory in the book.
In this chapter, Adam Smith introduces the idea of improving production to
increasing the quantity of work by subdivided process of operation. The division of
labour is Smith s idea that can help society to have better performance of working

In some particular works, however, this idea might not helpful to some businesses.
The example that Smith gives in this situation is agricultural operation because the
process of preparing the field, plowing and harvesting most likely use same person
and hard to be divided since they are seasonal. Furthermore, Smith also said that the
agriculture cannot be improves by the use of the division of labour. Like the corn, the
price in developed countries is almost the same as undeveloped countries, while the
developed countries have cheaper manufactured goods.
How the division of labour makes improvement
Smith makes a note that while workers improve dexterity, they become expertise in
their individual skills. They have more ability to better work. Increasing quantity of
the production, the division of labour makes the opulence in society among all. For
a given example, Smith telling that the complication of making a simple dress is as
hard as a prince s coat. He finally concludes this idea that there are not only goods
that interconnected in a complexity of particular specialized workers, but also all the
branches of

16. What Are The Theme Of The Poem I Too
Poetry plays an important role of changing helpless people s situation. Poets are
required figures in the modern and contemporary poetries because they explore,
express and discuss almost everything about the lives of almost all people who are
under threat in America including African Americans and other nationalities and
religions like Indians and Muslims . Although each poet has his or her own voice,
style, poetic form, life perspective and personal experience, all these poets share the
same basic goal of making their poetry a turning point of America s history and future
and their lives. Thus, this essay will compare between three poems in term of their
themes, some literary techniques and forms. These poems are: one contemporary

Themes that are related to African Americans such as American s identity, dream and
equality. This poem not only shows Langston s dream, but also shows the dream of
all African Americans dream for a better life. A life that is empty of discrimination
and segregation. Hughes and other African American poets seek for a new America
that all Americans, Blacks, Whites and others can sit together in one table. Also,
they are looking for having the same chance of achieving the American dream. This
poem consists of five connected stanzas that are spoken by a black American who
could be a servant for a White American. The speaker speaks with calm and quiet
tone to show that he is sure of his words. Obviously, he is speaking to all people,
and especially to Americans. In the beginning of the poem, I, too, sing America is
just one line that forms a stanza. The speaker from the beginning stats that also
African Americans have the right of celebrating and singing their belonging to
America and being American. Moreover, the poem offers more information about
the speaker. The speaker introduces himself as the darker brother to indicate that
although he is black, he still a brother. Obviously, the speaker here is using the
image of two brothers, one is black and the other is white. However, the darker
brother here is not treated as a brother. He is hidden from other White people, sent to
sit aside, separated from his White brother when others visit them. The speaker shows
how White Americans discriminate against Black Americans. In general, the speaker
is calling for brotherhood and equality. Moreover, being sent to places that are
supposed to be places of working hard shows the intended meaning of not giving the
African Americans the chance of achieving their dreams and goals. Hughes shows
that African Americans are victims of White Americans just because they are born

The Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) set out a model of the Nuclear
Weapons Convention (NWC) in 1997. The model underwent revision and reforms in
2007. The text puts a proposal that international law completely eliminates and bans
the use of nuclear weapons. The proposal has general support from the international
system. Over the years, security at the international level has faced opposition when it
comes to the disarmament of nuclear weapons. Discussions that are concerned with
the risks of nuclear weapons and the options for disarmament have been featured in
several international law conferences with the increase in the back up for a world

Shortly afterwards, there was a comprehensive report that called for a world free of
nuclear weapons by the Canberra commission. The abolition of nuclear weapons was
supported by former presidents, military officers, among others (Jurgen, Wolfgang,

nuclear powers stopped their programs for nuclear testing. The Comprehensive Test
Ban Treaty (CTBT) was finalized in 1996, but has not been implemented due to the
lack of ratification by the necessary states.
From that time onwards, the disarmament conference in Geneva has not had
progress. However, there have been discussions about the reduction in production of
materials for nuclear weapons. Since 1998, the disarmament conditions became
worse. There have been several nuclear tests by North Korea, Pakistan, and India, the
re introduction of defense missiles, space weapons, nuclear tactics, the 2001 terrorist
attacks and the war on terror. There was abandonment of the foes for negotiation on
disarmament as well as the Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty (ABMT) agreements to
control arms.
Other regimes for control were under threat like the Biological Weapons Convention

18. Act 2 Scene 2 Comparison Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet Act 2 Scene 2 Comparison There are millions of different well
known plays around the world, some of these plays have been performed many
times over and over again. Even though these plays are repeatedly performed,
every time there is a difference, every time something has changed. Directors have
this power and ability, to be able to change how a character looks, or the point of
view, or even just the facial expressions of the character. All of these little
differences affect the play and make it look brand new every single time. This will
be shown through the comparison of two different Romeo and Juliet production of
Act 2 Scene 2, the balcony scene. One of the productions is by Franco Zeffirelli and
the other by Baz Luhrmann. In my opinion, the production that was the most... Show

Setting is an element which can be looked over by the viewer. Sometimes what
makes a scene work can be fully tied to its setting and props. With a setting that is
realistic and well thought, you can truly tie a scene together. In the Franco
Zeffirelli version of the play, we can see that the setting is around the Capulet
mansion, by Juliet s balcony. Romeo is below hiding in the bushes. The leaves of
the bushes and how Romeo is below them show us how he is hiding and can t be
seen by anyone, the night sky and how dark it is in this scene also hide Romeo.
Juliet is sitting on the ledge of her balcony. In this production, the balcony is made
very wide, so in the scene, Juliet can walk along the entire balcony before Romeo
speaks. This also gives her enough space to run away when she is scared by Romeo
s voice. The plot is not affected too much by these choices other than being able to
have Juliet almost run away from Romeo. Through these setting options that Franco
Zeffirelli took during his production, we have a medieval time period look and a
more original looking production. However, the

There are several types of relationships, and all require a commitment and an
understanding between two or more people. There are friendships, relationships
formed with family members and relationships in which two people are intimate.
Although the type of relationship may differ, the longings are similar; to have an
impeccable union between those in the relationship. However, since people are
merely human, a perfect relationship typically does not exist. When relationships are
fragmented there comes a time in which people must decide if it is significant enough
to mend the pieces back together. Relationships are vital because they give people a
sense of fulfilment, success, and enjoyment. Relationships are essential due to the

When people build relationships with others it is evident that levels of stress tend to
diminish because they have people to confide in. Normand Anderson, in Paying with
Our Health , stated that Seventy five percent of Americans report experiencing at
least one symptom of stress (9). People all have tough days, whether it be health
related, money related, or work related. Thankfully, due to the relationships that
individuals build, there is always someone to talk to about the stresses of the
everyday life. Therefore, it is important for people to maintain healthy relationships
to help reduce the amount of stress of everyday life. In addition to relationships
influencing a reduction in stress levels, they increase confidence and sense of
belonging. Another benefit of positive relationships is that people encourage each
other to grow. People need to surround themselves with positive influences and
relationships. This is because true friends enjoy seeing friends succeed, achieve their
goals and enjoy pushing one another to accomplish more and build confidence. On
the other hand, friends may lift you up but they may also keep you level headed.
They keep each other in check in certain situations and bring the harsh truth to

Should drivers test be harder and actually challenge peoples driving skills?
As much as 33000 fatalities happen each year in the United States by the cause of
car crashes. People don t realize the number of crashes occurring because of people
that don t know how to drive. El Paso is the number 8 city in Texas with fatal
crashes. And it all goes back to how they got the privileges for driving in the first
place. I believe that Texas DPS or Texas Department of Public Safety don t test
people in the right manner for them to drive properly. In my experience, I have
witnessed people slacking it and by my observations I believe that it is fairly easy to
pass a driving test and anybody can pass it without even having to practice.
People ages 18 through 24 have to take an adult course in order for them to their
drivers license. The class is 6 hours long and ends with 2 tests which they have to
pass in order to get their certificate. The class is very useful for understanding and
comprehending road signs and driving rules and laws. But at the end of the class
when its time to take the test they don t take it seriously. The teacher will let the
students use their book, notes and in cases students can also copy without the
teacher even knowing. So at the end it is almost guaranteed that everybody will pass
the test, and it is possible that people passing the tests do not even know anything or
know very few stuff that they were supposed to learn.

Bix Beiderbecke Leon Bix Beiderbecke was born on March 10, 1903 in Davenport.
Bix was named after his father, Leon Bismark Beiderbecke, even though there is
dispute over whether his legal name was also Leon Bismark, or if it was in fact
Leon Bix. He was one of the most sought after cornetists in the 1920s, while he only
became famous many years after his death in 1931. Today he is careful one of the
early jazzmusicians skilled enough to be related to the great Louis Armstrong, and

However, Bix was a piano teacher, though impressed with the child s expected

ii.With the aid of diagrams explain the difference between a Series and Parallel
Hybrid Electric Vehicles.
Both series and parallel hybrid electric vehicles primarily contain the same parts,
however, they are configured differently. Both types of hybrid electric vehicle
contain a gasoline based engine, a battery which is rechargeable, an inverter,
transmission and an electric motor. The main difference between the two,
disregarding the difference in sizes of the separate parts, is that series hybrid
electric vehicles have a generator whereas in a parallel hybrid electric vehicle the
motor acts as a generator. Moreover, in a parallel HEV, the engine is directly
connected to the wheels, however this is not the case in a series HEV.
In a parallel HEV, the motor and the combustion engine work in accordance to power
the vehicle. The gasoline based engine and motor are both connected to the
transmission. As fuel travels to the engine or the battery is turned on, it propels the car.
In a series HEV, the motor is charged by the battery or generator (powered by
gasoline based engine). Thus, the gasoline engine does not directly propel the car,
unlike in the parallel HEV. The transmission is responsible for determining how
much energy is required and whether to retrieve it from the battery or the generator.
Pictured above, is a parallel HEV system, as made obvious by the position of the

23. Asteroids Impact On Society
Asteroid Impact Asteroids are rocky objects that move in the asteroid belt , which is
between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter. Asteroids vary in size, composition, and how
they orbit. It is estimated that more than 100,000 asteroids are orbiting too close to
the earth. Asteroid impacts have affected the Earth remarkably with great damage.
Hopefully these impacts will not be as bad in the future. Clemens Rumpf from
University of Southampton, and his associates, speculated the casualties from an
asteroid and how it would impact Earth. These researchers studied the effects it would
cause on Earth by researching, asteroids that burn up ompletely [sic] before impact,
those that hit the ground and those that strike in water (Crane 1).... Show more content

Until 2004, Spaceguard survey astronomers, did not think about the effect of an
impact and how important it is to look for asteroids that can corrupt Earth in the
future. In 2004, an asteroid event took effect on Earth that changed the way the
Spaceguard astronomers thought. The first event took place on, January 14,
2004. This asteroid was named AL00667 and had a twenty five percent chance of
hitting Earth between thirty six hours. Even though this asteroid missed Earth by
millions of miles, organizations were formed so there could be warnings for any
threatening object that will affect Earth in the future. The second event that took
place was the discovery of Apophis June 19, 2004. Apophis was only imaged for
two nights and was later seen by, Gordon Garradd, from the Siding Spring
Observatory, in New South Wales observatory, December 18, 2004. After his
observations of the minor planet, it was predicted that there was a one out of three
hundred chance that Apophis will hit Earth in 2029 by a software at NASA s NEO
Program Office and at the University of Pisa in Italy. The odds continued to
decrease as astronomers observed throughout the years. As 2029 approaches,
questions still afloat. Will April 13, 2029 be the end of the world? In conclusion,

24. Silence Shusak Endo Analysis
Everyone believes in something or someone to a certain extent. That extent is
revealed when consequences are laid out on the table. In the intriguing novel
Silence, by Shusaku Endo, the pathway of the Jesuit priest, Sebastian Rodriguez, is
followed as he embarks to Japan during the height of the country s persecution of
Christians in the 1600s to perform missionary work. One of his goals for this trip
was to find out why one of his old teachers renounced their faith after being captured
and tortured. However, as time would tell, Rodrigues found himself in a position of
torture where he too had to decide whether or not he would renounce his faith by
stepping on the fumie in front of the Japanese men. After facing a mental battle

I am glad that this historical message was delivered in this particular form because
it seems to me that most history classes only involve books that are filled with
factual events or backgrounds on people. Even though the story of Rodrigues is
full of details on his life, by reading it in the form of a novel that is comprised of
diary entries and other writings, makes the information easier for me to interpret. I
find it difficult to read through textbooks, but when it comes to stories, I think they
are much more enjoyable. In addition, novels of history make it easier for me to
imagine and picture what individuals were going through because I am able to
become attached to the characters involved. With that in mind, when Rodrigues was
faced with the choice of whether or not to step on the fumie, I already knew in my
head what I wanted him to do because I was emotionally attached. Throughout the
entire novel, I read about the trials that Rodrigues faced in order to perform his
missionary work. After picturing him fighting through the hardships, I desperately
wanted to see him continue to stand up against the Japanese oppression. So when he
made the decision to step on the fumie, I was filled with disappointment. As a result
of this, I found the problem to be with Rodrigues himself for making the wrong
25. Richard Ramirez As A Serial Killer
We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there
will be more of your children dead tomorrow. This quote was said by Ted Bundy, and
it explains how anybody can turn out to be a serial killer. A serial killer s childhood
environment plays a major role in why they became a serial killer. Nurture often plays
a bigger role in somebody becoming a serial killer, rather than their nature. This
statement can be proven by looking at Richard Ramirez s life, and how it shaped
him into becoming a serial killer. Richard Ramirez snuck into people s homes in
California at night and killed them. There are many factors that lead Richard Ramirez
to become a serial killer, the main factors include his cousin, parents,... Show more

Mike, his cousin, was a Vietnam war veteran and he told Richard a lot of gory
stories for the war. Mike Ramirez told Richard about how he had raped and
mutilated many Vietnamese women and showed Richard polaroid pictures of his
victims. Mike would also give Richard marijuana at a young age and would help
Richard skip school. Mike also taught Richard how to fire a gun and Richard even
watched Mike kill his own wife. One day Mike s wife, Jessie, was complaining to
Mike about how he needed to get a job, and he shot her in the face. Richard
Ramirez just stood and watched while Jessie was killed. All of these things Mike
did had a huge psychological impact on Richard Ramirez. Mike taught Richard that
it was alright to hurt and kill people. Richard was not born with the sense that
killing people was socially acceptable. He learned this by watching Mike kill his
wife and listening to Mike s stories about hurting women. This further shows that
Richard Ramirez s nurture drove him to become a serial killer. Furthermore,
growing up poor also contributed to Richard Ramirez becoming a serial killer.
Richard was surrounded by drugs because of where he lived in Texas. Richard
starting smoking marijuana as a 10 year old and he started doing LSD as a teenager.
Richard was sent to live with his older sister, Ruth, and her husband. Roberto, Ruth s
husband, would take Richard to watch women through their windows at night. This
experience is what probably led to Richard Ramirez

Poetry Comparison There have been many wars throughout time. Most people
learn the facts through: papers, films, books or poems, but I am comparing two
similar poems which have different meanings. Wilfred Owen who wrote the poem
Dulce et Decorum est or Lord Alfred Tennyson who wrote The Charge of the Light

war and thinks it s a good thing to die for your country. His poem was written to
memorialise the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean war (1854 56) he wrote it ten
years later, on: April 10th 1864. He was born in 1809 and died at the age of 83 in

The soldiers are getting defeated But limped on, blood shod. All went lame, all

used coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge shows they are choking on the
gas and smoke but slowly and angrily carry on to battle. The use of repetition
emphasises exactly how he felt and what he saw, All went lame; all blind it makes
it stand out how tired and injured the soldier s really are from Owens view. The
rhythm of stanza one is made by the ten syllables per line, which gives the effect
that the soldiers are marching. The rhythm has changed, there s now a gas attack
and the soldiers are shouting and rushing trying to get there masks on in time Gas!
GAS! Quick, boys! An ecstasy of fumbling . Owen then wants the reader to picture
this so uses caesuras and exclamation marks to emphasise exactly what s happening

describes the gas attack as being under water as under a green sea this suggests Owen
wants you to imagine the movements the

these firms gather personal information from nearly 500 million users but are hesitant

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
One kind of anxiety disorder is obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). This disease
can ruin a person s life because it causes them to have repetitive thoughts and
behaviors towards certain things. Life can become very difficult because this way of
thinking and acting is very difficult to overcome, especially since the obsessions
have no point and are stressful for the person. It begins to interfere with the person s
school, work, and/or home.
Obsessions are the unpleasant thoughts or impulses that cause the person with the
disorder to have lots of anxiety and edginess. The thoughts may include things such as

People used to believe that OCD was caused by the experiences in the patient s
childhood. For example, parents putting unnecessary force on the child for a clean
environment. Scientists have learned that it is due to more than just childhood
experiences. They have realized that the disorder is caused by the environmental
stresses, neurobiological factors, and even what the patient recognizes as being right
or wrong.
People with OCD show differences in brain activity compared to other people. They
also have less white matter in the brain than normal people. These results have been
obtained using brain imaging machines.
Victims of OCD may also have other diseases. Some have Tourette s syndrome. This
is when the person has movement spasms and vocal outbreaks. Others have impulses
to pull out their hair and to perfect their appearance. Yet others are afraid to catch a
disease, even though doctors have reassured them that there are no defects in their
health.
Victims deal with their problem in different ways. Some try to block their
obsessions so they do not have to deal with their compulsions. They are able to
hide their secret during the time they are in school or work. Over the years their
condition gets worse, and they are unable to control themselves. By the time they get
some professional help, they already have had the disease for some time. The
symptoms may last for years with some mild periods and some harsh

Module 6 DQ2: When viewing a team as a closed loop system, each member
becomes dependent on the next. How does this dependency influence the dynamics of
a team, specifically from a systems perspective?
One of the disadvantages of working within a closed loop system is that when a part
of the system is not performing, it affects the dynamics of the entire teams. For
instance, a thermostat works with a furnace to control room temperature is a perfect
example of a closed loop system (Stead, Gregg, Jirjis, 2011). The objective of the
thermostat is to control the desired organization/homeroom temperature. When the
adjustment panel that turns the system off and on malfunction, it directly impacts the

In academic institutions, when a student of the project underperforms, it impacts the

closed loop system interdepend on each system, they complement, shared, and learn
from each other. A closed loop system team interacts with a learningorganization
through the deliverables, the daily involvement in the process, and the involvement
of an active working leader. Mujtaba and Thomas (2005) asserted that values driven
management is one critical application of the system thinking paradigm where
decisions are analyzed regarding its total impact from a holistic approach. Learning
closed loop systems and applying systems thinking concept is a critical leadership and
organizational skill necessary in a learning organization (Mujtaba and Thomas, 2005).
Leaders should search for means to deal with workplace complexity because, it

impact of each generation on the success of learning organizations, to effectively

34. Andrea Palladio And Thomas Jefferson s Monticello
To many, Andrea Palladio is seen as one of the most influential architects that there
have ever been. He is also credited with being the main influence for the architectural
style known as Palladianism. Palladianism developed well through the 18th Century
and can be seen here in the U.S. When you look at buildings like the White House
and Thomas Jefferson s Monticello, we can see how much Andrea influenced others.
His influence is also seen in England looking at different houses belonging to the
royals. Andrea Palladiobuilt many buildings in his time, He built churches, town and
country houses, public buildings and bridges in Venice and on the Venetian mainland
and in and around Vicenza. In my paper, I plan on starting with Andrea Palladio and

Within the Treaty of Union the different national institutions would remain within the
Scottish political system. The Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian, would
remain as the national Church, along with the Scottish legal system. In addition
Scotland would maintain a separate education system and a different system of local
government from that obtaining in England and Wales.
The Scottish legal system is the single most important factor explaining why
Scotland has been accorded separate governmental treatment since the Act of Union.
Unlike the English legal system, the Scottish system has depended more on the
principles of continental jurisprudence derived from Roman law than on indigenous
common law. Whenever a piece of legislation has been intended to apply to
Scotland as well as to England and Wales this has had to be achieved either by a
separate appendix to the measure of by a distinct Act for Scotland. In addition
Scotland has a separate system of courts and its own legal profession. The
independent legal system of Scotland is one of the strongest clues to the existence of
a Scottish Political system. The Scottish people are subject to Laws exclusive to
Scotland. Scottish national institutions are strong and constitutionally protected.
The political culture of Scotland has always been strong on its emphasis on
democratic organisation

Baseball changed over time when African Americans were able to join the game of
baseball in the early 1840s when the game of baseball started. Only African American
were able to play the game of baseball due to segregation. Most people did not even
want African Americans to play baseball in the MLB they could have their own

continues to generate major media coverage, while fan attendance remains high at
venues throughout the country. Other international leagues show similar fan
support, with the sport attracting large numbers of spectators in Japan, China, and
Latin America. ( Auerbach, Michael P., ). In 1858, the National Association of
Base Ball Players, the first organized league, was formed by teams around the
country. The style of baseball actually came from the civil war because during the

their style of baseball wherever they were stationed, and the game s popularity

1. Describe the context (why it was done, the general interest and what the
researchers wanted to find out) of the research and research question (what is the
hypothesis). /10
The goal of the study was to identify factors that shape women s responses to in
group members who protest gender discrimination. The participants were all
undergraduate females that were all given the same information prior to the start of
the study. The one difference was the scenario (manipulation) in which the female
lawyer was being discriminated. The researchers told some participants of the study
that the lawyer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To examine these hypotheses, the researchers had the female participant group read
about an unfair hiring decision in which a law firm chose not to grant the deserving
candidate a position, and hired a less experienced male candidate instead.
2. Describe dependent, independent, and moderating variables. How these variables
were measured and manipulated in this study. 10
Independent = Condition either protest or no protest
Dependent = many of them; Outcome measures in case.....(4) We are only replicating
the evaluation of target.
Moderating = Pervasiveness of gender discrimination.
The variables in the study helped to differentiate the participant s opinions on the
female lawyer. In this case, the researchers are only replicating a small part of the
study.
There were 4 possible dependent variables that were measured. 1) Anger Toward the
Target this was measured through statements like I feel angry at Catherine . The
higher the score, the greater the amount of anger was expressed. 2) Evaluation of
Target participants evaluated the likeability of Catherine by measuring statements
like I admire Catherine, I would like to be friends with Catherine . 3) Evaluation of
Target s Response This measure addressed evaluations of the target s response to the
decision. Participants

44. Security In College Sports Essay
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (or NCAA) is a discourse
community that most people know about. The NCAA controls all of the college
sports in the United States, with the common goal for each team to be as successful
as possible and to get as much of a profit as possible. The NCAA features the rules
that each team has to follow as well as the rules that each individual athlete has to
follow.
The NCAA uses schedules and newsletters to inform the public about things going on
around the association, and memos to keep coaches, players, and officials up to date.
There are many different genres that the NCAA use and not everyone realizes just
how many there are.
These rules are set in place so that each student acts in an appropriate manner and
so that they are being as safe as they can be. Security is also a genre in the NCAA;
the NCAA requires a high amount of strict security as to keep athletes safe. The
NCAA has a strict set of rules that each and every player/coach/ and official has to
follow. One example of the context is the amount of time an athlete that is being
recruited can visit each school (and for how long), what the coaches can discuss with
the player while on the visit and what can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ways the NCAA front office does this is though newsletters. Newsletters are
used as injury reports, update on how each team is doing, and other things such as
upcoming events for each team. The newsletters are put in newspapers, online blogs,
and short articles. Sports journals are for some people the most interesting literature
that is written daily and it is constantly changing. Sports journals are a type of
newsletters that are written to inform and to elaborate on events going on in the
NCAA. And sometimes journals are even a place for reporters and analyzers to rant
on why they think each team is doing things wrong and what they really should be
doing to make their teams
45. The Health History Of A Student At The University Of
Arizona
Introduction This paper will look at the health history of a student at the University
of Arizona in the BSN program. This paper will explore the risks this student has of
contracting diabetes mellitus due to a predisposition in her family history. The
reason for the disease, patterns, risk, and preventative measures will be discussed
and explained through the paper. Many people in the world suffer from type II
diabetes [diabetes mellitus(DM)]. This student explored her health history back
tracing diseases through her sibling, parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. This
disease has a genetic component, but is also about lifestyle and choices that can be
made to prevent the severity of this disease.

739). These are all genetic factors that contribute to potentially develop diabetes type
II mellitus. These genetic factors alone are not enough to contract diabetes there
needs to be environmental factors/life choices. Environmental factors include obesity,
hypertension, and metabolic syndrome (McCane, 2014, p. 739). When a person has
the environmental risk factors for type II diabetes with insulin resistance, only those
who have the genetic predisposition to beta cell dysfunction will develop type II
diabetes (McCane, 2014, p. 739). This means that a person who is not considered
overweight, but has hypertension or does not live a healthy lifestyle and is
predisposed can develop this disease as well. This is a rare occurrence in type II
because obesity is present in 60 80% of those with type II diabetes (McCane, 2014, p.
739). Being obese contributes to the development of diabetes in five ways. These
five ways are
1. Adipokines are hormones produced by adipose tissue. /.../ Adipokines have effects
not only on tissues but [also] on the hypothalamic and pancreatic function. /.../ 2.
Elevated serum free fatty acids and high intracellular deposits of triglycerides and
cholesterol. These lead to metabolic overload with interfere of insulin signaling and a
decrease in tissue response to insulin. 3. Obesity causes release of inflammatory
cytokines. /.../ These play an important role in the genesis of a fatty liver [which
impairs the function]. 4.

Case Title: An International Incident Context and Sources I sought out the mediation
context of public policy. More specifically, I was interested in the purpose of
international relations. This sort of large scale mediation can literally affect the world
as a whole, and may prove to be a key for continued survival of the human race. In
researching mediation from an international context, I ran across a number of
interesting articles detailing various viewpoints, advances in the field, shortcomings,
and examples of successful mediation. The articles and authors I used in the creation
of this mediation case are as follows: Alexander, N., Leathes, M., Monberg, T.,

the importance of mediation as a means of conflict prevention and resolution... One
of the biggest problems they face is coordinating discussions between a set of
countries (often more than two) that have so many cultural and structural differences
from language and traditions, to religion, to gender roles, and any number of other
factors. This daunting task also requires a new breed of mediator that are

Have you ever thought about what is would be like to be the person that always has
the struggle of having no money, being the person that is constantly having an
economic disadvantage over everyone else? In the novel Absolutely True Diary of a
Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie, the main character Arnold and his family
suffer impoverished circumstances. Although Arnold s life seems as a ticking time
bomb, he is able to overcome povertywith the help of his friends that are always
available, by remaining optimistic in stressful situations, and moving to a new school
with more hope for himself.
Overcoming such a huge obstacle in society is rough and it all started with Arnold
leaving the Reservation and moving to the upper class school, Reardan. Although,
leaving the Rez was one of the hardest things for Arnold to do, it was a huge
sacrifice but for the better of the good. If it hadn t been for the day in Mr. ... Show

Throughout the book Arnold encounters many discouraging situations but remains
positive. In the book, one of the most sad moments is when Christmas comes
around for him and his family. Having been in poverty for many years, his family
can never afford presents so his dad spends whatever money they have on alcohol.
Hey, Dad, I said. Hey, kid, he said. I m sorry about Christmas. It s okay, I said.(Pg.
150) This was his dad apologizing for intentionally making Christmas even worse.
Later his dad reveals his gift for Arnold. I got you something, he said. What? It s in
my boot. (Pg. 151) Arnold had received a $5 dollar bill. Although, he was still a
little upset with his dad, he appreciates that his dad thought of him. So, even though
it seemed like a regular crappy Christmas, Arnold made the best out of it and didn t
let it bring him down. He remained considerate of his family s circumstances and
went on with his
48. Global Warming And Its Effects On Our Communities,
Our...
In this day and age, problems like global warming, widespread fossil fuel use, and
high carbon emissions are having significant and harmful effects on our
communities, our health, and our climate (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2014).
To limit [this], the world is going to have to get a lot better at using energy smartly
(Hope, 2014). One such way is by reducing the amount of energy we consume or
waste on a daily basis; in other words, being more energy efficient. Energy
Efficiency is using less energy to provide the same service. Something is more
energy efficient if it delivers maximum production for less energy input. For
example, energy efficient microwaves provide the same service as conventional ones
however they require 30... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More than half of these greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide which is released during
the burning of fossil fuels. However, by using less energy and committing to energy
efficiency (i.e. driving electric or hybrid type vehicles, creating a lower demand for
energy, buying energy efficient appliances), we can reduce the amount of fossil fuels
needed to be burned and in turn, stop global warming or climate change. In addition
to that, being energy efficient in homes and buying energy efficient appliances can
significantly benefit one s pocket. Simple things like replacing old incandescent
light bulbs with CFL or LED lights can save one up to 30 80% on energy bills ,
and buying Energy Star appliances can save one up to 30% on electricity bills
annually (Alliance to Save Energy, 2012). Also, simple daily tasks done in a
different way (more efficiently), such as washing clothes in cold water or keeping
one s tires inflated, could bring up to $60 of savings annually (Alliance to save
Energy, 2012). These small things done to promote efficiency at home and at work
help cities and countries save on a bigger level. For example, America, the number
one GHG emitter, saved more than $500 billion in energy costs by using 56% less
energy; that s enough to power 12 states for a year (Alliance to save Energy, 2012).
That money that would have been spent on energy could now be spent on improving
energy efficiency by building energy efficient buildings, educating about consuming
49. African American Slaves In The Caribbean In 1789
In 1789 Saint Domingue produced 60% of the world s coffee and 40% of the world
s sugar imported by France and Britain. The colony was the most profitable
possession of the French Empire. Saint Domingue was also the wealthiest and most
prosperous colony, for the plantation owners at least, of all the colonies in the
Caribbean.
In 1789, whites numbered 32,000; mulattoes and free blacks, 28,000; and dark
slaves, an expected 452,000. The most reduced class of society was oppressed
blacks, who dwarfed whites and free non white individuals by an edge of ten to
one. The slave populace on the island totaled portion of the one million slaves in
the Caribbean by 1789. 66% were African conceived, and they had a tendency to be
less tame than those conceived in the Americas. The passing rate in the Caribbean
surpassed the conception rate, so imports of subjugated Africans were important to
keep up the numbers required to work the estates. The slave populace declined at a
yearly rate of two to five percent, because of workaholic behavior, lacking
nourishment and sanctuary, deficient dress and medicinal consideration, and an
irregularity between the genders, with a greater number of men than ladies. A few
slaves were of a creole exclusive class of urban slaves and domestics, who filled in as
cooks, individual workers and artisans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around that time, colonial legislations, concerned with this growing and
strengthening population, passed discriminatory laws that visibly differentiated
these freedmen by dictating their clothing and where they could live. These laws
also barred them from occupying many public offices. Many of these freedmen
were also artisans and overseers, or domestic servants in the plantation houses. Le
Cap Français, a northern port, had a large population of freed slaves, and these
men would later become important leaders in the 1791 slave rebellion and later

ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION AND ITS EFFECT ON INDIAN
ECONOMY
The environmental problems in India are growing rapidly. The increasing economic
development and a rapidly growing population that has taken the country from 300
million people in 1947 to more than one billion people today is putting a strain on the
environment, infrastructure, and the country s natural resources. Industrial pollution,
soil erosion, deforestation, rapid industrialization, urbanization, and land degradation
are all worsening problems. Overexploitation of the country s resources be it land or
water and the industrialization process has resulted environmental degradation of
resources. Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems ... Show more

Nearly 12 million hectares of pasturelands are also substantially degraded. Thus, a
total of 132 million hectares representing 40 per cent of the country s total landmass
have productivity well below their potential (Tejwani Yadav, 1998).
Causes of land degradation
The main causes of land degradation are deforestation, ignorance of soil conservation
practices, extension of cultivation to marginal lands, improper crop rotation,
imbalanced fertiliser use, surface irrigation ironically designed to increase land
productivity, rapid growth in population, paucity of land, economic pressures and
poverty.
Air Pollution The World Health Organization estimates that about two million
people die prematurely every year as a result of air pollution, while many more
suffer from breathing ailments, heart disease, lung infections and even cancer.Fine
particles or microscopic dust from coal or wood fires and unfiltered diesel engines
are rated as one of the most lethal forms or air pollution caused by industry,
transport, household heating, cooking and ageing coal or oil fired power stations.
There are four reasons of air pollution are emissions from vehicles, thermal power
plants, industries and refineries. The problem of indoor air pollution in rural areas
and urban slums has increased. A latest example industrial pollution is the leak of
chlorine gas in Mumbai. On July 14, 2010 nearly 76 people were treated in
