Essay On Favorite Book
Writing an essay about a favorite book can be a challenging task, as it involves not only
summarizing the plot but also delving into the deeper themes, characters, and messages
conveyed by the book. It requires a thorough understanding of the text, critical thinking skills to
analyze its various aspects, and the ability to articulate personal opinions and interpretations
effectively.
Furthermore, the difficulty lies in striking a balance between providing sufficient information
about the book to engage the reader while also avoiding spoilers for those who haven't read it.
Crafting a compelling introduction that grabs the reader's attention, followed by a well-structured
body that explores different facets of the book, and finally, a conclusion that ties everything
together cohesively, adds to the complexity of the task.
Moreover, writing about a favorite book can be emotionally challenging, as one might feel a
personal connection to the story or characters, making it difficult to remain objective and
unbiased in the analysis.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of a favorite book can be a daunting endeavor
due to the need for deep analysis, effective communication of ideas, and emotional involvement,
it can also be a rewarding experience for those passionate about literature and storytelling.

How Social Exclusion Affects The Feeling Of Physical
Coldness
Psychologists Chen Bo Zhong and Geoffrey Leonardelli from the University of
Toronto wanted to analyze the idea that social exclusion generates a physical
response of coldness. In 2008, they did just that by carrying out an experimental
study to address two questions in two different experiments; whether recall of a
specific (social exclusion) event influences the feeling of physical coldness. The
second experiment is based on the hypothesis of the first, given that coldness leads to
the liking for warm or coldfood. The present paper examines whether or not notions
such as cold and lonely are expressions that can be applied to reality and not just an
abstract illustration. Empirical evidence is adequately provided supporting the... Show

The purpose was to revive their feelings of isolation and loneliness. Comparatively,
the other group recalled an experience in which they had been socially acknowledged
and included into a group. Researchers hypothesized that priming social exclusion, as
opposed to inclusion, would lead participants to report lower room temperature in
experiment 1 and thus prefer hot food and drink in Experiment 2. The results of the
experiments were in line with the experimental predictions that social exclusion
leads to physical coldness and that the lack of social acceptance leads people to seek
hot food and drinks. The following paragraphs will analyze Zhong s research,
evaluating strengths, limitations, and possible improvements for Experiment 1 and 2.
Going through the methodology, the participants were students at the University of
Toronto and were asked to recall a social exclusion event. It is a between
participants design, making it interesting to analyze individual differences in recall
and how cold they felt afterwards. However, this doesn t equate for external validity,
as it is very unclear by what event the participants referred to as social exclusion. The
researchers refer to previous studies carried out by Bargh, Chen, Burrows (1996) in
the introduction about the physical signs of social influence. This experiment
however, is carried out in Toronto; the
How Did Ben Carson Overcome Poverty
Poverty. Anger. Bad grades. Becoming a surgeon is hard enough without having to
over come other hardships. Ben Carson persevered though many obstacles to
become one of the most influential surgeons in history. A major hardships that
Carson had to overcome was poverty. Ever since he was a young boy, money was
an issue. Carson s father wasn t in the picture and his mother, who had a 3rd grade
education, worked multiple jobs in order to provide for Carson and his older
brother, Curtis. He explained his living situation in an interview saying, ...what it
was like living in an environment where you walk into a room and turn on the light
switch and it looked like the wall was moving because there were so many roaches,

He has saved the lives of many through medicine and his public speaking. Carson
received the most acknowledgement after being the first surgeon to successfully
separate siamese twins joined at the head. This procedure was difficult and
extensive but after the 22 hour surgery, it proved to be a success (Encyclopedia).
Carson also helped a little girl named Maranda who was having over 100 seizures a
day by performing a hemispherectomy which is the removal of half the patient s
brain. This procedure saved the girl and many others to whom he used this
procedure on. Carson has saved many others such as Beth who also had many
uncontrollable seizures, Bo Bo who had major head trauma after being hit by a
car, Danielle who was born with a brain tumor, a boy who was hit by a car, Mathew
who had a deadly brain tumor, and many more (and). Carson is said to have
performed over 500 surgeries a year (Encyclopedia). Not only does Carson help
those with a medical problem, but he helps those who have obstacles to overcome.
He speaks to children and gives them hope. After speaking to an unprivileged group
of kids at a school they went from being very disrespectful to Carson to giving him
their full attention. When asked what he did to them, Carson responded by saying,
They re the same kids. It s just that I just spent an hour telling them what they could

Essay On Chronic Pancreatitis
Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a persistent inflammatory state of the pancreas. This
disease is characterized by progressive damage to the pancreas that leads to extensive
fibrosis, loss of the lobular morphology, and changes in the arrangement and
composition of the islets. This is an irreversible damage that results in impairment of
endocrine and exocrine functions. The incidence of chronic pancreatitis ranges from
3.5 to 10 cases per 10,000. (A. Catharine Ross, Benjamin Caballero, Robert J.
Cousins, Katherine L. Tucker, Thomas R. Ziegler, 2014). Risk factors of chronic
pancreatitis are associated with environment and genetic factors such as alcohol
consumption, nicotine consumption, hereditary factors, nutritional factors, and

The nutritional management changes through the different phases.
During the early chronic pancreatitis total abstinence from alcohol and smoking is
recommended. Recommendations for macronutrient composition are 30% of
calories as fat, and 1 to 1.5 g/kg of protein daily. It should be given frequent
nutritionally balanced small meals (4 8 times a day), and a low fat diet, also it may
be required multivitamin mineral supplement. It is recommended a low fiber diet.
High consume of fiber may absorb enzymes and delay the absorption of nutrients.
Late disease results in a decrease of lipase secretion. Medium chain triglycerides
(MCT) may be administrated to the patient if steatorrhea persists and weight gain is
insufficient. MCT are rapidly absorbed via the portal vein, even in the absence of
lipase, although doses higher than 50 g / d could have secondary effects such as
production of ketone bodies, cramps, diarrhea, and nausea. Fat soluble vitamins (A,
D, E and K), vitamin B12, and pancreatic enzyme should be
Oscar Wilde Dichotomy
Oscar Wilde works combine the importance of his own life with his ability to write to
create famous short stories, plays and novels. A few of his most famous works
include The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest. This Irish
writer used unique themes and techniques to separate himself from many other
writers of his time. Themes such as homosexuality, individualism and aestheticism
frequently which make his works especially stand out. His most important techniques
include characterization, criticism and structure which enable Wilde to explain his
way of seeing the world through his works. His themes and techniques work closely
with his stylistic usage of fairy tales, pessimism and dichotomy to bring his works

Standard British comedy plays used in that time period for a variety of reasons. At
the time most comedic plays used as much pace and physicality in their plays as
possible while Wilde s plays had performers that were much more seriously
absorbed in the roles and seemingly didn t not realize or understand the humor.
Wilde made sure his actors were well aware that his plays were not to be acted out
in the standard way and it was part of his own unique style. Raby also states that

Analysis Of Lip s Narrative Fiction
Lip wakes up for his 3pm class with a pounding headache and a burning feeling in his
chest.
He immediately recognizes the first feeling as drinking too much last night. He
recognizes the second feeling shortly after as Mandy.
He doesn t remember what they spoke about last night, only that they spoke. With
how little he remembers of every night this week, he s starting to think he has a real

He crawls out of bed long enough to grab an Advil from his desk. Pulling his phone
out of the covers, he plugs it in, before it starts to come back to him.
He said he would call Mandy. Her voice is stuck in his head, pleading him to call

It takes almost two hours, with all the stops, and he s getting antsy. He wants a

The Hershey Company By Milton Hershey
The Hershey Company was founded by Milton Hershey in 1909. In 1894 they
decided to produce a sweet chocolate as a coating for his caramels. The company
was originally located in Lancaster Pennsylvania. The company is now headquartered
in Hershey, Pennsylvania and is a global confectionary leader. They are known for
their chocolate, sweets, mints and other snacks.
In 1900, Hershey Company started making milk chocolate bars, wafers, and other
shapes. He was able to lower the unit cost and produce milk chocolate bars in mass
production. Chocolate was only affordable by the wealthy; However Milton
Hershey made it affordable to all. One of Hershey s earlier slogans was a palatable
confection and a most nourishing food.
Due to the great success of Hershey s low cost and high quality milk chocolate
Hershey s increased his production facilities in 1905. In 1907, he was looking to
expand his product line and introduced the Hershey s Chocolate Kisses . The
company had the Hershey Kiss trademarked in 1924.
Over the next two decades, The Hershey Company added more products to its line
that included the Mr. Goodbar, Hershey s Syrup, Hershey s Chocolate Chips, and
the Krackel Bar . Even through the Great Depression in the 1930 s the company
was able to avoid laying off anyone and maintain a profit. The Hershey bar even
went to war during World War II and was passed out to many of the military. They
received an award for its contributions to the war
Marie-Bealer Sangee Lauder Quotes
In the book all the lights we cannot see, the prevailing mystery is whether or not the
sea of Flames is cursed. The curse was this: the keeper of the stone would live
forever, but so long as he kept it, misfortunes would fall on all those he loved one
after another in unending rain. But if the keeper threw the diamond into the sea,
thereby delivering it to its rightful recipient, the goddess would lift the curse.

Things that shouldn t be all that scary but over time have developed a stimulus that
causes a reaction (Field Purkis, 2012, cited in Weiten, 2017). There are four basic
terms that are very key in understanding classical conditioning. First, unconditioned
stimulus (UCS), is a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without
previous conditioning (Weiten, 2017). The unconditioned stimulus is a stimulus that
occurs naturally without any outside interaction. This is something that happens in a
person s daily life, with no thought given to it. The second term is the unconditioned
response (UCR), an unlearned reaction to a nonconditioned stimulus that occurs
without previous conditioning (Weiten, 2017). This is the natural reaction to the
natural stimulus. Nothing has been learned or conditioned yet, these are both
baseline things happening in a natural form. Third, conditioned stimulus (CS), a
previously neutral stimulus that has, through conditioning, acquired the capacity to
evoke a conditioned response (Weiten, 2017). Time after time the neutral stimulus
slowly become the conditioned stimulus, it has slowly been developed and learned to
create a stimulus. It is not something that is recognized while it is happening,
gradually helps itself in the forming of the stimulus. Lastly, the fourth term,
conditioned response, a learned reaction to a conditioned stimulus that occurs because
of previous conditioning (Weiten, 2017). This is where the

Spoken language is at the heart of human interaction, at home, at work and in
society. Speaking and listening skills are important in all contexts in which learning

Police Misconduct and Corruption
Week 1 Assignment
In order for a Police agency to prevent and deter Police misconduct, there must be a
definition to what actions and behaviors that the term will encompass. The term
police corruption has been used to describe many activities: bribery; violence and
brutality; fabrication and destruction of evidence; racism; favoritism or nepotism.
Many different scholars differ in their own examples of the definition. Before
attempting to the question of whether a precise definition is possible, it is worth
examining the range of activities that might be included within a broad discussion of
corruption. In (Bayley and Perito, 2011), it is defined as police corruption is a
contested phrase with narrow and broad meanings. Narrowly ... Show more content

Reforming recruit training is the most common response among police agencies
attempting to deal with corruption. There is, in this regard, a straightforward link
between training, competence and malpractice/corruption. Straightforwardly, the
better officers are at using legitimate means, the less they will need to have recourse
to illegitimate ones. Police agencies that train their officers, and provide them with
the resources they require to achieve the goals of the job legitimately should find that
its officers are less likely to fall into corruption or misconduct.
There have been several studies and implemented policies within agencies all over
the world directed to prevent and deter police misconduct / corruption. In the early
1990s, the Mollen Commission of Inquiry revealed a serious police corruption
problem in the New York City Police Department (NYPD). One of the key
recommendations of the commission was that their internal investigative structure
the Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB) be reconstituted as it had failed to effectively
tackle the problem. Almost a decade since the establishment of a new IAB, it is
hailed as a noteworthy example of how such a structure should operate if police
corruption is to be adequately dealt with. (Newham, 2003).
One additional strategy against Police misconduct that I would like to mention is the
involvement of departments in becoming accredited. The goal of the organization
Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti-Hero...
Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti Hero
Critics have referred to Kosinski s Being There as his worst novel. Perhaps,
Kosinski s prosaic style is deceptive in its apparent simplicity (especially when
contrasted with The Painted Bird). What Kosinski seeks to do, as Welch D. Everman
relates, is to stimulate the reader s recreative and imaginative task by offering only
the essentials...Kosinski s style draws the reader into the incident by refusing to
allow him to remain passive (25). This essay will propose that Being There is a
major existential work following in the tradition of Sartre and Camus in which Chance
, the main protagonist, mirrors Camus s Mersault in A Happy Death and in which
Koskinski demonstrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chance has been given his name because he had been born by chance , yet as
Everman shows, this is true of everyone, and so his given name is hardly a name at
all....In addition, he loses this rather tenuous name early in the book... and therefore
is without a real name (63).
Furthermore, no one in the book exists without some type of tangible record proving
existence. When Mr. Franklin, the Old Man s executor, interrogates Chance, he
seeks commodified proof of Chance s existence; he asks for, among other items, a
checkbook, driver s license, insurance card, tax forms. Chance, encountering the
existential dilemma, the quest for identity, counters: you have me. I am here. What
more proof do you need (18)? Of course, mere existence proves useless and Chance
is excommunicated from his beloved garden. Why does a writer who displays such
brilliant technical skills and prosaic style resort to utilizing such a one dimensional
character? Perhaps Koskinski has simply found the next logical step in the chain of
psychological evolution. Yet, rather than the natural heir to Benji Compson, Chance
is, instead, the natural descendent of Patrice Mersault.
After Nietzsche declared God dead, we spent the next half century in an angst ridden
frenzy. Sartre, Beckett, and Camus best exemplify this condition in their writings.

Craft Beer And The Beer Industry
From 2012 to 2014, the number of craft breweries in America has grown from 2,401
to 3,418, representing a 42% increase. ( Number of Breweries and Brewpubs in the
U.S. ) Additionally, while US overall beer production fell 1.4% in 2013, craft beer
production grew by 9.6% and now represents 7% of the total beermarket. (Snider).
The brewers association describes a craft brewer as small, meaning annual
production of less than 6 million barrels of beer, independent, meaning less than 25%
of the brewery is owned by non craft brewers in the alcoholic beverage industry, and
traditional, meaning the majority of beers derive flavor from traditional brewing
ingredients and fermentation and further states that these beers tend to be more
expensive than mainstream brews. ( Craft Brewer )
The craft beer industry is rapidly increasing in size and the beers within it tend to
be more expensive, but little academic research exists on the perceived quality of
craft versus mainstream beers. Craft beer is widely seen as generally better than
mainstream American beers such as Budweiser, Coors, and Miller, but no academic
research exists to determine how expectations of differences between craft and
mainstream beer based only on being labeled as craft can effect perceived quality
and flavor.
People s expectations have widely been shown to influence both flavor experiences
and neural responding. Plassman and others (2008) demonstrated this using wine, by
presenting wine to participants that

that Christ be arrested by the guards to be put in prison. The Grand Inquisitor goes

Even though the free will that he gave us caused great suffering, it was also a good
thing for people. Free will gave people the freedom to do whatever they pleased
without being told to do something or not to do something. The Grand Inquisitor
was not a big fan of free will since he believes that it brought nothing but bad things
and caused suffering. In my opinion, I would rather suffer than have no freedom
because suffering can bring us closer to the Church. With having no free will, it
leaves us with no opinion or freedom to exercise our beliefs. One of the major
themes in the Grand Inquisitor is suffering. Ivan tells the story of the sufferings of
innocent children. Some examples of the suffering are the the little girl whom her
father enjoys beating and the boy who is torn to piece by dogs. The people could not
function without Christ, so part of the suffering was there fault and the violence was

Emily Bowen Research Paper
Have you ever been terrified to fall asleep at night? Nightmares are frightful
dreams in which the dreamer can feel threatened, severe anxiety, and deep distress.
Emily Bowen has been experiencing these horrid dreams for the past week. These
nightmares can send you into a movie like trance in which you are the star. Ever
since the nightmares have started Emily has feared her closet and underneath her
bed. Her small walk in closet has a pull string for the light in the middle and several
objects that look scary in the darkness. Underneath her bed she keeps many pairs of
shoes and her lucky stuffed animal which had fallen under there the other night.
Emily has gotten to where she feels really unsafe in her own home, but she chooses

The hideous monster stands about ten feet tall, has three eyes, four arms, and two
legs. It is a grey color and has an enormous mouth with sharp teeth. In her
nightmare, the monster from the closet lures her in. The closet is no longer the
closet anymore; it is an entirely different world. In this world the trees have no
leaves, the sky is not blue and it does not have any clouds. Overall, this world is
dark. The monster takes her down an almost endless road until finally Emily sees a
gigantic building that looks similar to a castle. It takes her inside the building and
into a room. The room s walls are covered in blood and have a vast amount of items
that could be used for torture. The beast then puts Emily into a chair in the center
of the room and ties up her hands. It then goes over to the table on the left side of
the room to grab a mallet. While the monster is turned away, Emily is able to untie
herself and escape from the building. She runs quickly down the almost endless
road. In the distance she sees a staircase. She does not know where the staircase
leads but the monster is not far behind her so she rushes up. As she gets higher up
the staircase she notices some recognizable clothing, such as her bright pink jacket
and her favorite yellow shirt. Emily had made it back into her own world. She felt a
great feeling of joy as she crawled out of the closet and closed the door behind. Little

Modern Hero vs. Anglo Saxon Hero Essay
Today s modern day hero has similarities and differences than the Anglo Saxon hero.
The two heroes each have different values they believe in. Also, they are motivated
to fight for different reasons. An Anglo Saxon hero also fights differently than a
modern day hero. An example of this comparison is Bono from the band U2 and
Beowulf. Both modern day heroes, like Bono and Anglo Saxon heroes, like Beowulf,
try to improve their societies, but do it in different ways and for different reasons.
Anglo Saxon heroes have only a few things in common with modern day heroes. One
of the things is that they both want to improve the society that they come from. That

He raised his arms and seized her by the shoulder (Raffel 509 510). Beowulf and
Anglo Saxon heroes fight their battles with their fists. On the other hand, modern
hero fights with their minds. In 1992 Bono took part in a campaign organized by
Greenpeace against radioactive pollution (The City Council of Turin, no page). Bono
has organized and created many foundations that help and save people all over the
world.
Another Difference these two types of heroes have is why they fight their battles.
I sold my life for this treasure and I sold it well (Raffel 820 821). The Anglo Saxon
heroic code states that Anglo Saxon heroes are seeking fortune. Beowulf makes
many references in the poem of how he seeks wealth. Modern day heroes are the
complete of this. All of Bono s foundations are non profit and the money they raise
goes right to various charities. In modern day society it is considered greedy for a
celebrity to seek money. On the other hand, it is perfectly normal and accepted for an
Anglo Saxon hero to seek wealth.
It was respected and not uncommon for an Anglo Saxon hero to boast. This is a
major difference between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heroes. Bono has not
once bragged about all of the good things he has done, or the money he makes.
Meanwhile, through out the whole poem Beowulf is bragging about his strengths,
riches, and ancestors. All modern day heroes would not be considered heroes
How Did Early European Influence The Development Of

Renaissance intellectuals, artists, and humanists revived classical motifs, values,
models, ideas, and philosophies that glorified humans and made them the measure of
all things, and they formulated new ideas and techniques based on these ideas; most
remained Christians despite promoting ideas that conflicted with Christian views.
The invention of the printing press in the 15th century accelerated the spread of these
new ideas, especially north of the Alps. During the Scientific Revolution, Europeans
developed new approaches to looking at the natural world, natural philosophers and
physicians challenged and scrutinized older scientific and medical systems while
developing new ones, and philosophers gave the emerging scientific methoda sound
foundation with their comprehensive theories. An internal community of natural

Despite this, many Europeans continued to follow traditional explanations of the
natural world, such as witchcraft, magic, alchemy, and astrology. Three trends shaped
the development of early modern politics. These were the centralization of power and
authority, the trend towards an elite consisting of people distinguished by their talents
rather than their family, and the secularization of law and justice. The introduction of
new military technology and strategies started a military revolution that promoted
state centralization. The military revolution raised the cost of maintaining military
power beyond the means of individual lords; it favored monarchs that could increase

John Steinbeck Analysis
People populate the same place, same space, and same planet. People do not see
the world in the same way. John Steinbeck s quote from Travels With Charley
contextualizes his beliefs that there are two types of people, defined by the ways
they travel through life. Maps can be formed, used, and stored in many different
ways. Steinbeck expresses to his readers that while maps are important to any
traveler, people who take pleasure in being guided through life by maps are different
from people who live amongst an ever evolving map that constructs itself behind the
steps of true explores and adventures. Steinbeck wants readers to understand that he
is cut from the latter cloth. So they are aware of what influences his writings.

Turning map into an adjective entirely changes its connotation, invoking an image
of a group of people who are characterized by needing maps to live. He continues to
explain they are people whose joy is to lavish more attention on the sheets of
colored paper than on the colored land rolling by This creates an idea of them , and
is emphasized by Steinbeck s anaphoric use of the word colored. The repetition
shows calls to the difference in what gives people comfort to live amongst the land.
Both choices are colored and narrate the land. Yet, they reflect differences in the
way people live. The choice to call maps sheets of colored paper creates the visual
of map people with their heads down constantly having to piece together their
journey through others representations, versus people who see the same colors, but
real land, and can journey through life adding to their own maps as they continue
to live and truly enjoy the land. Steinbeck rhetoric, every road was remembered,
every mileage recalled, and every little countryside discovered stresses the
advantages people who don t not live by maps have. People who just live amongst
the land and experience it as it is presented acquire a wealth and world of
knowledge. Words like remembered, recalled and discovered connect to show the
significance of mental maps, constructed and defined by individuals, creating a more
intimate connection between people and the land. Steinbeck is attributing discovery
as an achievement to those bold enough to risk journeying into the unknown. Then
Steinbeck s return to the contrast of the map using traveler requiring to know in
terms of maps exactly where he is pin pointed at every moment, as though there
were some kind of safety in black and red lines understates opposition to his personal
beliefs. His syntax to say as though there were alludes to that opposing fact not
existing and being

world. At first you might just brush off these theories and ideas thinking that they are
nothing but a bunch of nonsense. Some conspiracies can easily be proven wrong but
In the more popular and well known conspiracy theories such as the 9/11 attacks and
the assassination of JFK there are very credible facts to back up the idea belief that
is being portrayed. Weather you believe in conspiracy theories or not, there is some

On Friday November 22, 1963 in Dallas texas the 35th president of the United
States John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald while
travelling in a motorcade in Dealey Plaza, or that is what is said to have
happened.(Miller, 2017) Some believe that there was a little more to the
assassination then just the one shooter. This conspiracy is that there was more
than just one shooter and that there was a larger group group behind the event
other than just Oswald himself. There are quite a few events that occured that
make this theory that much more believable. The two things that happened that
stand out to me the most are the murder of Oswald just two days after JFK s death
and the fact that after audio analysis the HSCA concluded that there was a fourth
gun shot. Oswald was arrested soon after killing JFK but two days later when He
was being transferred from city jail to county jail he was shot at close range and
killed by Jack Ruby. (Victor, 2017)This lead some people tof believe that Oswald
was part of a larger group or organization that had helped him plan the assassination
and that Jack Ruby was sent to Oswald to make sure he would not expose the group.
The second bit of evidence that is very compelling is in the audio recordings of the
assassination. After analyzing the Audio recording of the assassination the HSCA

The Hyatt Regency Hotel, the newest hotel built in Kansas City Missouri featuring an
open atrium design at its entrance with floating walkways suspended on the second,
third, and fourth floors. Only one year after its final construction did a suspended
walkway fall, injuring and killing partygoers the night of July 17th, 1981. What may
have initially appeared as an accident was the result of many factors including the
design and construction of the walkways supports, but more importantly
communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical
concerns over this tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible
negligence resulting in the deaths and injuries.
The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass
through the fourth floor walkways supporting beams, be supported with nuts and
washers and hang the second floor walkway beneath as shown in the Original Detail
in figure 1 . Due to a late design change for apparent manufacturing issues, the change
was quickly implemented to the As Built design shown in Figure 1.

For my introduction, I started by writing a thesis statement. My thesis statement
stated the problem of class registration at Normandale, and then introduced the four
possible solutions; this gave the reader a brief summary of what to expect. To
organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first topic sentence to define the
problem, and then followed with four topic sentences for my four solutions. Finally, I
rewrote my thesis so I could restate it in my conclusion. After organizing the
introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft.
The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief
background on the essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a hook,
background information on the problem and why it is occurring, and then my thesis
statement. My essay started with a direct quote I discovered when researching. I
then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my thesis. Also, I
used correct MLA format when citing the direct quote in my paper. It s important to
cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my
introduction was complete, I began writing the body paragraphs.
The main purpose of my body paragraphs were to explain and support my thesis. For
my body paragraph on the problem, I made sure to explain the problem of
registration, give an example, and then state who the problem affected. I then started

Characteristics Of Oedipus The King
Oedipus the Tragic Hero A protagonist is a hero of a tragedy who has a high
authority or power, and is a somewhat okay person, who is brought down by an
error in judgement. A good character example is, Oedipus the King, by Sophocles.
Oedipus is a tragic hero who is characterized by the definition described. Oedipus the
kinghad a hard way of life since after his birth he is abandoned by his parents ,who
wanted him killed when he was cast out of Thebes. This however, does not stop him
from being completely happy in life. Oedipus is a tragic herobecause he is not this
perceived perfect guy. He has bad qualities, but this is not why he experiences a
downfall. Oedipus the King, by Sophocles is a greek tragedyplay about human
suffering and pain, but is good at the same time because a person can learn
something and benefit from it.Oedipus is already considered to be somewhat of a
hero in the beginning, as he is seen as a good person. He made decisions that
ultimately led to the changes that occurred in his life. Oedipus is a perfect
example of a tragic hero which can be seen in his characteristics like his tragic
flaws, the desire to know the truth, and the knowledge gained in the end. The first
thing as a tragic hero that Oedipus has is tragic flaws. Within the play Oedipus
displays two tragic flaws, his pride, and his arrogance, and determination. Tiresias,

In some instances lead reacted very similarly with the alkaline earth metal but very
different in the other reactions such as with iodide. This is due to lead s position
on the periodic table as compared to those of the alkaline earth metals. The
position on the periodic table correlates to an element s atomic radius, ionization
energy, and electron affinity. All of these properties affect an element s chemical
properties such as solubility. A systematic error occurred during my experiment

Essay about A Reflection of My Teaching Philosphy
The purpose of education is to transmit both knowledge and skills needed to live in
our modern world. Learning, such as critical thinking, should light a flame within the
students that is a desire to learn, instead of smothering this desire through rote
memorization. Just as Plato proposed that people must emerge from their caves of
their own reality, students need to be brought forth out of their caves and into the
sunlight by their guides who are teachers. Educationis the process by which students
learn more about themselves and about the world around them. Aristotle proposed
that the purpose of education should be to help a person reach his or her potential.
Without education, learners may not reach their full potential; they may... Show more

Students learn through a variety of ways, depending on their own needs. Some
students learn through modeling, for example, while others learn best by
investigation. Students should be taught, as John Locke wrote in his Some Thoughts
Concerning Education, almost in playing. Learning should not be in rote, but rather be
a guided discovery. Students should be given the chance to use their imaginations to
produce conclusions under the guidance of their teachers. In Emile, Rousseau
describes the ideal student as thus, If he knows nothing by heart, he knows a great
deal by experience. This means that a person learns the best through experience, not
memorization. It is important for today s students to go beyond what they have only
read and to instead be able to use their education. Students also need a motivation to
learn, or they may just absorb the knowledge mechanically without incorporating it
into their thought process. This real world thinking should be expanded beyond their
own realities and into the outside world, such as the wider community.
Students should be taught how to be citizens of the global world, rather than just a
small focus on their own communities. Paulo Freire notes in his Pedagogy of the
Oppressed that students must communicate with the world in order to achieve
authentic thinking. Skills such as communication are necessary to understand the

Stereotypes Perception Of African American Hair
I have decided to use portraiture to create a narrative between the portrait and the
viewer, allowing the viewer to understand the individual that is being depicted
through their physical characteristics and their personality. I see portraiture as a mean
to express the issues concerning stereotypes towards African Americanhair and how
those stereotypes influence the way society to perceive African Americans. My
overall set of works, tell a story that reveals how these viewpoints oppress African
Americans through images of their hair.
Through collage and drawing, I show the relationship between these women and how
historical stereotypes effect the way that American culture represents African
American hair. Many of those stereotypes are generated
Gamestop Growth Strategy
Within the video game industry today, GameStop will be a good long term
investment. The evolution of technology has been huge in the industry. Although
technology has caught up to GameStop, they have had a few technology strategies
to keep them at the top of the industry. However, in the midst of the technology
challenges they went away from what made them unique to stay above their
competitors In order for GameStop to be a great long term investment they need to
uphold what their mission and vision statement says. In 2010, it was predicted that
GameStop will end up filing bankruptcy like Blockbuster due to online streaming of
the video and game. For a few years it was looking that way as GameStop was
steadily declining. With a change in management,... Show more content on

Not only just stick to what they do but add on with innovations and affiliations like
that have been doing. Their originality of the buy sell trade concept is what makes
them unique and keeps them at the top. That resource will always stay protected
because they are the only in store company to do all three and sell used and new
games. Consumers can do all three online, however as previously stated there is a
big inconvenience in many ways with doing things online and shipping products.
GameStop has established loyalty with customers over the decades that no other
competitors can take away. They has seen a bit of a depression once online gaming
was introduced, but they seemed to have gotten out of that and look to continue to
make their way to the top. GameStop should form more partnerships with
companies to maintain leverage in the industry and continue to market their brand.
One of their major partners is Microsoft which allow them to sell digital content at
retail stores, and be advertised in their ads. It also allows them to migrate their
website from a purely e commerce site to a gaming platform that users can visit to
play, learn and purchase games. In order to reach long term goals, CEO, Paul Raines
states, The strategy is to be a multi channel aggregator for gaming. We want to be the
destination for gamers, whether they are getting content via online,
Benefits of the Jewish Chicken Soup
Food is only one aspect of cultural tradition, but it is probably one of the most
prevalent. Because of the significance of food in our lives, many ethnic and
religious groups incorporate it into special occasions. Funerals, weddings, birthdays,
festivals, fairs, political holidays and religious celebrations would all loose a bit of
their sparkle without the pleasure of food. Various foods are given symbolic and even
transformative connotations. This is a universal truth in most cultures.
A very popular food with cultural significance is chicken soup. It is prepared very
differently in different cultures. From Mexico s chili spiked sopa de Fideos, to
China s gingery QiguoJi, cultures have a love affair with chicken in a pot. In
Bulgaria, chicken soup is often seasoned with lemon juice or vinegar. The Taiwan
style of chicken soup includes dried jujube fruits, tea, and other various herbs. The
Columbian version of is called ajiaco and includes sweet corn, several types of
potatoes, avocado, capers, an herb called guascas, and a dollop of cream. Polish
chicken soup is commonly served with fine noodles and sometimes a ground almond
broth called ros贸艂. In the United States and Canada, chicken soup often has
noodles or rice. The Campbell Soup Company coined the phrase chicken noodle soup
in the 1930s and it has endured to this day.
While no single culture can claim chicken soup as exclusively its own, chicken soup
is a traditional dish of the Jewish kitchen. No Shabbat,
Ebert s Central Station Review
The critique of Ebert s Central Station Review
Central Station is a film directed by Brazilian producer Walter Salles. The film is
portrayed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and its about two characters; a young boy named
Josue and an older woman named Dora. The two characters are on a journey to find
out. The film also shows the drastic change that both Josue and Dora have in their
relationship. Ebert reviews this film with positive vivid language, however,he also
forgets to describe some the majority of the symbolism in the film. Roger Ebert
connects with the film with a very positive mindset. He uses vivid language to
describe the atmosphere in the film as well as many of the characters personality.
Walter Salles implements the use of a dynamic ... Show more content on

Ebert does not mention how any of the cinematographics implement a way in
which the viewer watches and understands the film. For example, in the early
stages of the film, Salles wants the viewer to lament the situation Josue goes
through, almost as if the viewer is a character of the film. Ebert also completely
disregards some of the symbolism implemented in the film. Nowhere in his review
does he write about the significance of the Dora applying lipstick and how that
begins to change her character s personality throughout the film. Not to mention
another character who goes through the dynamic change as Dora in Josue. Josue
hated Dora in the early stages of the film, however, finally gets along with her as the
film moves on, and even calling her pretty when she applies makeup. In the end of
the film, a scene which Josue and Dora in bed talking shows how their relationship
has completely changed throughout the film. To conclude, Ebert completely
disregards the original soundtrack of the film. Depending on which tune was being
played, it really fit into the situation that the movie was on. For example, when Dora
yelled at Josue when they with the pilgrims, a fast but sad tune played in the
background to adjust to the
Indian Premier League
Project IPL
A revolution in Indian Sports Entertainment

Indian Premier League (IPL)
A revolution in Indian sports and entertainment
Over 200 million Indian viewers, 10 million international viewers, 4 million live
spectators: the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a sports and entertainment revolution
in the making, surpassing all records of viewership on ground and on media.
Advertising revenue and ticket sales have exceeded all expectations, making IPL
highly profitable for the organisers, broadcasters and successful team owners.
Zealous fan following even hostility for visiting teams shows local loyalties are
building up faster than anyone expected. As we enter the last phase of the first
edition of IPL, numerous new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ad rates for 10 second spots, which were Rs200,000 at the start of the tournament
have climbed rapidly, to Rs500,000 now, and look set to rise further, to Rs1m for
the final. (For comparison, SET charged Rs800,000 per 10second ad spot for the
T20 World Cup final between India and Pakistan.) Sony Set Max s revenue market
share has reportedly gone up from the pre IPL 5.7% to 28.8% now. Its share of
prime time is now at 29%, which is higher than the cumulative market share of the
top nine Hindi general entertainment channels. IPL has also expanded the
demographics of cricket viewership by bringing more women to cricket s fan
base, making it more lucrative for advertisers. IPL s ad revenues will be more than
7% of total TV advertising in India We reckon Sony will gross about Rs6.5bn in
advertising revenues from the next year. That would be 7% of the Indian advertising
industry s estimated TV revenues of Rs90bn in 2008. Collateral damage: Bollywood
and other channels take a hit The runaway success of IPL has hit other mainstream
entertainment media. Estimating the extent of their losses is tricky, but consider the
anecdotal evidence: multiplexes have reported 10 30% declines in ticket sales;
Bollywood movies leading producers like Yash Raj, Devgan Productions and Rakesh
Roshan got poor openings despite heavy marketing; and television prime time has
taken a significant hit,
Cultural Differences and Global Marketing
Cultural differences and global marketingCultural differences and global marketing
The progress of humanity and human beings can be attributed to one important factor
and that is the strong capability of human beings to understand and adapt to cultural
differences. Respecting cultural differences has brought the human beings close
together and has tied them in a strong bond. The conquering of the cultural
differences has also introduced us to a new terminology, global economy, which is a
global system of production, distribution and consumption. The world has become a
singular unit because the pace of economic development has accelerated due to an
increase in marketing not only at a local level, but also at a global level. Global ...

The advertising should be planned in such a manner that it appeals to the customers
in the international market. Some cultures show an open attitude towards
advertisements, while others may not have such an open attitude and may not like to
be targeted directly. The advertisements should be created after a careful study of the
international market and always by keeping a watchful eye on the cultural differences.
The global marketing mixes like product, price, placement and promotion should also
be planned on the basis of the cultural differences. The product should be modified
based on the taste and the requirements of the particular country being targeted for
the sale of the product. The sales will boost up only if the companies keep in mind
the demands of the particular culture. The success story of Nissin Food Products
Company Ltd. gives us strong evidence that it is necessary to keep in mind the
demands of the international market when developing the products. Nissin s products
are sold in more than 100 countries and the company has branches and also
manufacturing units in ten countries, which includes China, Hong Kong, the
Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Germany, The United States and The Netherlands.
The company has profited because the products are manufactured according to the
relevant taste and demand of the customers belonging to different cultures.
The second factor of global marketing mix to be considered in the international
Apachain Research Paper
Introduction
This proposal is to help bring to life the Semester on the Appalachain, a semester long
expedition on the Appalachian Trail for a group of ten participants, in order to
provide an environment that can not be replicated in a typical classroom setting. In
the proposal, it will provide research on the benefits of experiential and expedition
education, improvement on psychological health, and organizations that run similar
programs.
When you picture a classroom, what do you think of? You more than likely picture a
chalkboard, desks for all the students and teacher. A new way of teaching has
developed that removes students from the stereotypical environment and places they
in a new and engaging environment. This is experiential education. ... Show more

Compared to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, the Appalachian
Trail is widely regarded as the safest options of the three. This is because the
Appalachian Trail is accepted by the communities it runs through. It is common to see
members of the community be at the trailhead and offer assistance to those that are
passing by. Also, the spans between communities are relatively small. On the
Appalachian Trail Conservancy website, they state that do not need to carry more
than 6 days worth of food maximum because of how close resupply points

Essay On Favorite Book.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Favorite Book Writing an essay about a favorite book can be a challenging task, as it involves not only summarizing the plot but also delving into the deeper themes, characters, and messages conveyed by the book. It requires a thorough understanding of the text, critical thinking skills to analyze its various aspects, and the ability to articulate personal opinions and interpretations effectively. Furthermore, the difficulty lies in striking a balance between providing sufficient information about the book to engage the reader while also avoiding spoilers for those who haven't read it. Crafting a compelling introduction that grabs the reader's attention, followed by a well-structured body that explores different facets of the book, and finally, a conclusion that ties everything together cohesively, adds to the complexity of the task. Moreover, writing about a favorite book can be emotionally challenging, as one might feel a personal connection to the story or characters, making it difficult to remain objective and unbiased in the analysis. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of a favorite book can be a daunting endeavor due to the need for deep analysis, effective communication of ideas, and emotional involvement, it can also be a rewarding experience for those passionate about literature and storytelling. • 2. How Social Exclusion Affects The Feeling Of Physical Coldness Psychologists Chen Bo Zhong and Geoffrey Leonardelli from the University of Toronto wanted to analyze the idea that social exclusion generates a physical response of coldness. In 2008, they did just that by carrying out an experimental study to address two questions in two different experiments; whether recall of a specific (social exclusion) event influences the feeling of physical coldness. The second experiment is based on the hypothesis of the first, given that coldness leads to the liking for warm or coldfood. The present paper examines whether or not notions such as cold and lonely are expressions that can be applied to reality and not just an abstract illustration. Empirical evidence is adequately provided supporting the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose was to revive their feelings of isolation and loneliness. Comparatively, the other group recalled an experience in which they had been socially acknowledged and included into a group. Researchers hypothesized that priming social exclusion, as opposed to inclusion, would lead participants to report lower room temperature in experiment 1 and thus prefer hot food and drink in Experiment 2. The results of the experiments were in line with the experimental predictions that social exclusion leads to physical coldness and that the lack of social acceptance leads people to seek hot food and drinks. The following paragraphs will analyze Zhong s research, evaluating strengths, limitations, and possible improvements for Experiment 1 and 2. Going through the methodology, the participants were students at the University of Toronto and were asked to recall a social exclusion event. It is a between participants design, making it interesting to analyze individual differences in recall and how cold they felt afterwards. However, this doesn t equate for external validity, as it is very unclear by what event the participants referred to as social exclusion. The researchers refer to previous studies carried out by Bargh, Chen, Burrows (1996) in the introduction about the physical signs of social influence. This experiment however, is carried out in Toronto; the

Ben Carson persevered though many obstacles to become one of the most influential surgeons in history. A major hardships that Carson had to overcome was poverty. Ever since he was a young boy, money was an issue. Carson s father wasn t in the picture and his mother, who had a 3rd grade education, worked multiple jobs in order to provide for Carson and his older brother, Curtis. Carson also helped a little girl named Maranda who was having over 100 seizures a day by performing a hemispherectomy which is the removal of half the patient s brain. This procedure saved the girl and many others to whom he used this procedure on. Carson has saved many others such as Beth who also had many uncontrollable seizures, Bo Bo who had major head trauma after being hit by a car, Danielle who was born with a brain tumor, a boy who was hit by a car, Mathew who had a deadly brain tumor, and many more (and). He speaks to children and gives them hope. After speaking to an unprivileged group of kids at a school they went from being very disrespectful to Carson to giving him their full attention. When asked what he did to them, Carson responded by saying, They re the same kids. It s just that I just spent an hour telling them what they could do, not what they

Things that shouldn t be all that scary but over time have developed a stimulus that causes a reaction (Field Purkis, 2012, cited in Weiten, 2017). There are four basic terms that are very key in understanding classical conditioning. First, unconditioned stimulus (UCS), is a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without previous conditioning (Weiten, 2017). The unconditioned stimulus is a stimulus that occurs naturally without any outside interaction. This is something that happens in a person s daily life, with no thought given to it. The second term is the unconditioned response (UCR), an unlearned reaction to a nonconditioned stimulus that occurs without previous conditioning (Weiten, 2017). This is the natural reaction to the natural stimulus. Nothing has been learned or conditioned yet, these are both baseline things happening in a natural form. Third, conditioned stimulus (CS), a previously neutral stimulus that has, through conditioning, acquired the capacity to evoke a conditioned response (Weiten, 2017). Time after time the neutral stimulus slowly become the conditioned stimulus, it has slowly been developed and learned to create a stimulus. It is not something that is recognized while it is happening, gradually helps itself in the forming of the stimulus. Lastly, the fourth term, conditioned response, a learned reaction to a conditioned stimulus that occurs because of previous conditioning (Weiten, 2017). This is where the

There is, in this regard, a straightforward link between training, competence and malpractice/corruption. Police agencies that train their officers, and provide them with the resources they require to achieve the goals of the job legitimately should find that its officers are less likely to fall into corruption or misconduct. There have been several studies and implemented policies within agencies all over the world directed to prevent and deter police misconduct / corruption. In the early 1990s, the Mollen Commission of Inquiry revealed a serious police corruption problem in the New York City Police Department (NYPD). One of the key recommendations of the commission was that their internal investigative structure the Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB) be reconstituted as it had failed to effectively tackle the problem. Almost a decade since the establishment of a new IAB, it is hailed as a noteworthy example of how such a structure should operate if police corruption is to be adequately dealt with. (Newham, 2003). • 14. Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti-Hero... Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti Hero Critics have referred to Kosinski s Being There as his worst novel. Perhaps, Kosinski s prosaic style is deceptive in its apparent simplicity (especially when contrasted with The Painted Bird). What Kosinski seeks to do, as Welch D. Everman relates, is to stimulate the reader s recreative and imaginative task by offering only the essentials...Kosinski s style draws the reader into the incident by refusing to allow him to remain passive (25). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chance has been given his name because he had been born by chance , yet as Everman shows, this is true of everyone, and so his given name is hardly a name at all....In addition, he loses this rather tenuous name early in the book... and therefore is without a real name (63). Furthermore, no one in the book exists without some type of tangible record proving existence. When Mr. Franklin, the Old Man s executor, interrogates Chance, he seeks commodified proof of Chance s existence; he asks for, among other items, a checkbook, driver s license, insurance card, tax forms. Chance, encountering the existential dilemma, the quest for identity, counters: you have me. I am here. What more proof do you need (18)? Of course, mere existence proves useless and Chance is excommunicated from his beloved garden. Why does a writer who displays such brilliant technical skills and prosaic style resort to utilizing such a one dimensional character? Perhaps Koskinski has simply found the next logical step in the chain of psychological evolution. Yet, rather than the natural heir to Benji Compson, Chance is, instead, the natural descendent of Patrice Mersault. After Nietzsche declared God dead, we spent the next half century in an angst ridden frenzy. Sartre, Beckett, and Camus best exemplify this condition in their writings. Camus s Mersualt (perhaps the predecessor to

Ivan tells the story of the sufferings of innocent children. Some examples of the suffering are the the little girl whom her father enjoys beating and the boy who is torn to piece by dogs. The people could not function without Christ, so part of the suffering was there fault and the violence was brought up by the Grand

The room s walls are covered in blood and have a vast amount of items that could be used for torture. The beast then puts Emily into a chair in the center of the room and ties up her hands. It then goes over to the table on the left side of the room to grab a mallet. While the monster is turned away, Emily is able to untie herself and escape from the building. She runs quickly down the almost endless road. In the distance she sees a staircase. She does not know where the staircase leads but the monster is not far behind her so she rushes up. As she gets higher up the staircase she notices some recognizable clothing, such as her bright pink jacket and her favorite yellow shirt. Emily had made it back into her own world. She felt a great feeling of joy as she crawled out of the closet and closed the door behind. Little did she know, she was not safe
  • 21. Modern Hero vs. Anglo Saxon Hero Essay Today s modern day hero has similarities and differences than the Anglo Saxon hero. The two heroes each have different values they believe in. Also, they are motivated to fight for different reasons. An Anglo Saxon hero also fights differently than a modern day hero. An example of this comparison is Bono from the band U2 and Beowulf. Both modern day heroes, like Bono and Anglo Saxon heroes, like Beowulf, try to improve their societies, but do it in different ways and for different reasons. Anglo Saxon heroes have only a few things in common with modern day heroes. One of the things is that they both want to improve the society that they come from. Beowulf and Anglo Saxon heroes fight their battles with their fists. On the other hand, modern hero fights with their minds. In 1992 Bono took part in a campaign organized by Greenpeace against radioactive pollution (The City Council of Turin, no page). Bono has organized and created many foundations that help and save people all over the world. Another Difference these two types of heroes have is why they fight their battles. I sold my life for this treasure and I sold it well (Raffel 820 821). The Anglo Saxon heroic code states that Anglo Saxon heroes are seeking fortune. Beowulf makes many references in the poem of how he seeks wealth. Modern day heroes are the complete of this. All of Bono s foundations are non profit and the money they raise goes right to various charities. In modern day society it is considered greedy for a celebrity to seek money. On the other hand, it is perfectly normal and accepted for an Anglo Saxon hero to seek wealth. It was respected and not uncommon for an Anglo Saxon hero to boast. This is a major difference between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heroes. Bono has not once bragged about all of the good things he has done, or the money he makes. Meanwhile, through out the whole poem Beowulf is bragging about his strengths, riches, and ancestors. All modern day heroes would not be considered heroes

Renaissance intellectuals, artists, and humanists revived classical motifs, values, models, ideas, and philosophies that glorified humans and made them the measure of all things, and they formulated new ideas and techniques based on these ideas; most remained Christians despite promoting ideas that conflicted with Christian views. The invention of the printing press in the 15th century accelerated the spread of these new ideas, especially north of the Alps. During the Scientific Revolution, Europeans developed new approaches to looking at the natural world, natural philosophers and physicians challenged and scrutinized older scientific and medical systems while developing new ones, and philosophers gave the emerging scientific methoda sound foundation with their comprehensive theories. John Steinbeck s quote from Travels With Charley contextualizes his beliefs that there are two types of people, defined by the ways they travel through life. Maps can be formed, used, and stored in many different ways. Steinbeck expresses to his readers that while maps are important to any traveler, people who take pleasure in being guided through life by maps are different from people who live amongst an ever evolving map that constructs itself behind the steps of true explores and adventures. Turning map into an adjective entirely changes its connotation, invoking an image of a group of people who are characterized by needing maps to live. He continues to explain they are people whose joy is to lavish more attention on the sheets of colored paper than on the colored land rolling by This creates an idea of them , and is emphasized by Steinbeck s anaphoric use of the word colored. The repetition shows calls to the difference in what gives people comfort to live amongst the land. Both choices are colored and narrate the land. Yet, they reflect differences in the way people live. The choice to call maps sheets of colored paper creates the visual of map people with their heads down constantly having to piece together their journey through others representations, versus people who see the same colors, but real land, and can journey through life adding to their own maps as they continue to live and truly enjoy the land. Steinbeck rhetoric, every road was remembered, every mileage recalled, and every little countryside discovered stresses the advantages people who don t not live by maps have. People who just live amongst the land and experience it as it is presented acquire a wealth and world of knowledge. Words like remembered, recalled and discovered connect to show the significance of mental maps, constructed and defined by individuals, creating a more intimate connection between people and the land. Steinbeck is attributing discovery as an achievement to those bold enough to risk journeying into the unknown. Then Steinbeck s return to the contrast of the map using traveler requiring to know in terms of maps exactly where he is pin pointed at every moment, as though there were some kind of safety in black and red lines understates opposition to his personal beliefs. This conspiracy is that there was more than just one shooter and that there was a larger group group behind the event other than just Oswald himself. There are quite a few events that occured that make this theory that much more believable. The two things that happened that stand out to me the most are the murder of Oswald just two days after JFK s death and the fact that after audio analysis the HSCA concluded that there was a fourth gun shot. Only one year after its final construction did a suspended walkway fall, injuring and killing partygoers the night of July 17th, 1981. What may have initially appeared as an accident was the result of many factors including the design and construction of the walkways supports, but more importantly communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical concerns over this tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible negligence resulting in the deaths and injuries. The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass through the fourth floor walkways supporting beams, be supported with nuts and washers and hang the second floor walkway beneath as shown in the Original Detail in figure 1 . Learning, such as critical thinking, should light a flame within the students that is a desire to learn, instead of smothering this desire through rote memorization. Just as Plato proposed that people must emerge from their caves of their own reality, students need to be brought forth out of their caves and into the sunlight by their guides who are teachers. Some students learn through modeling, for example, while others learn best by investigation. Students should be taught, as John Locke wrote in his Some Thoughts Concerning Education, almost in playing. Learning should not be in rote, but rather be a guided discovery. Students should be given the chance to use their imaginations to produce conclusions under the guidance of their teachers. In Emile, Rousseau describes the ideal student as thus, If he knows nothing by heart, he knows a great deal by experience. This means that a person learns the best through experience, not memorization. It is important for today s students to go beyond what they have only read and to instead be able to use their education. Students also need a motivation to learn, or they may just absorb the knowledge mechanically without incorporating it into their thought process. This real world thinking should be expanded beyond their own realities and into the outside world, such as the wider community. Students should be taught how to be citizens of the global world, rather than just a small focus on their own communities. Paulo Freire notes in his Pedagogy of the Oppressed that students must communicate with the world in order to achieve authentic thinking. Skills such as communication are necessary to understand the

They has seen a bit of a depression once online gaming was introduced, but they seemed to have gotten out of that and look to continue to make their way to the top. GameStop should form more partnerships with companies to maintain leverage in the industry and continue to market their brand. One of their major partners is Microsoft which allow them to sell digital content at retail stores, and be advertised in their ads. It also allows them to migrate their website from a purely e commerce site to a gaming platform that users can visit to play, learn and purchase games. In order to reach long term goals, CEO, Paul Raines states, The strategy is to be a multi channel aggregator for gaming. We want to be the destination for gamers, whether they are getting content via online,

Because of the significance of food in our lives, many ethnic and religious groups incorporate it into special occasions. Funerals, weddings, birthdays, festivals, fairs, political holidays and religious celebrations would all loose a bit of their sparkle without the pleasure of food. Various foods are given symbolic and even transformative connotations. This is a universal truth in most cultures. A very popular food with cultural significance is chicken soup. It is prepared very differently in different cultures. From Mexico s chili spiked sopa de Fideos, to China s gingery QiguoJi, cultures have a love affair with chicken in a pot. In Bulgaria, chicken soup is often seasoned with lemon juice or vinegar. The Taiwan style of chicken soup includes dried jujube fruits, tea, and other various herbs. The Columbian version of is called ajiaco and includes sweet corn, several types of potatoes, avocado, capers, an herb called guascas, and a dollop of cream. Polish chicken soup is commonly served with fine noodles and sometimes a ground almond broth called ros贸艂. In the United States and Canada, chicken soup often has noodles or rice. The Campbell Soup Company coined the phrase chicken noodle soup in the 1930s and it has endured to this day. While no single culture can claim chicken soup as exclusively its own, chicken soup is a traditional dish of the Jewish kitchen. No Shabbat,

The film is portrayed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and its about two characters; a young boy named Josue and an older woman named Dora. The two characters are on a journey to find out. The film also shows the drastic change that both Josue and Dora have in their relationship. Ebert reviews this film with positive vivid language, however,he also forgets to describe some the majority of the symbolism in the film. Roger Ebert connects with the film with a very positive mindset. He uses vivid language to describe the atmosphere in the film as well as many of the characters personality. Walter Salles implements the use of a dynamic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ebert does not mention how any of the cinematographics implement a way in which the viewer watches and understands the film. For example, in the early stages of the film, Salles wants the viewer to lament the situation Josue goes through, almost as if the viewer is a character of the film. Ebert also completely disregards some of the symbolism implemented in the film. Nowhere in his review does he write about the significance of the Dora applying lipstick and how that begins to change her character s personality throughout the film. Not to mention another character who goes through the dynamic change as Dora in Josue. Josue hated Dora in the early stages of the film, however, finally gets along with her as the film moves on, and even calling her pretty when she applies makeup. In the end of the film, a scene which Josue and Dora in bed talking shows how their relationship has completely changed throughout the film. To conclude, Ebert completely disregards the original soundtrack of the film. Depending on which tune was being played, it really fit into the situation that the movie was on. For example, when Dora yelled at Josue when they with the pilgrims, a fast but sad tune played in the background to adjust to the

Cultural Differences and Global Marketing Cultural differences and global marketingCultural differences and global marketing The progress of humanity and human beings can be attributed to one important factor and that is the strong capability of human beings to understand and adapt to cultural differences.
