1980s Technology Research Paper
In this ESSAY I will be discussing all of the type s technology that was popular in
certain eras, and what influenced in its popularity. Technology is the application of
scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry, machinery and
devices developed from scientific knowledge. The eras that I will cover are the
1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. I have chosen these eras because I would like to
learn about some of the technologies while I m researching for technologyin these
eras, and to get a better understanding of how some of them influenced in the grate
technologies we have today.
In the amazing era of the 1980s some of the most popular technologies were the

the way that the people thought of a smart phone and what it could do. Another
piece of technology that was developed in the 2000s was of course face book and
twitter, face book was first released and went active at the beginning of 2004 and
this was that popular that till this day it still has over 350 million users. Face book
is known as the one of the world s largest photo sharing site. Twitter is also another
social networking site that allows people to let other people know what they are
doing 24/7 and twitter was developed in march 2006 and was launched in July
2006 by Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams and stills receives 340 million tweets to this

Jennifer Schuett Research Paper
According to E Newspaper 48 Hours, In the small town of Dickinson in Texas, on
August 9th 1990, 8 year old Jennifer Schuett was abducted by Dennis Earl
Bradford. After being taken straight from her bed through her bedroom window,
Bradford attempted to calm Schuett by reassuring her he was an undercover
officer. Bradford then strangled, raped and lacerated Shuett s neck, leaving her to
bleed out in a field. Shuett recalls him asking her Am I scaring you little girl? Am I
scaring you? Schuett was left helpless and immobile until she was found by
children playing a game of tag. Bradford was not identified or arrested for his
actions until 19 years later. However, before he could be tried, Bradford committed

A Step Toward A Healthier Lifestyle
Recognition is the first step toward a healthier lifestyle The hardest part of starting
a workout and nutrition program is taking the first step. Recognizing that you are
in need of a healthier lifestyle means you have to admit that you are heading down
the wrong path. You have to then admit that you have made mistakes along the
way and no one likes to admit they have made mistakes. It is not so bad. These
mistakes are reversible. You can make changes right away a little mental drive,
support from you friends and family and a sound game plan. Let s start with the
first day of your recognition. This may be the worst day of them all, but it only gets
better from there. You will never look in the mirror again and see the same person you

After this first time, the scale is not your best indicator. It is better to measure your
progress by body fat testing or by your measurements. Many people do not lose
weight on the scale at first, but will lose inches. That is the most important part.
Our goal is to change our body composition so that our lean mass (muscle and
bones, etc.) goes up and our fat mass (body fat percentage) goes down. The more
lean mass your body has the quicker your metabolism will be. The quicker your
metabolism is, the more calories your body will burn and ultimately the more
calories you can eat to maintain your desired goal. The next step is to figure out
how much time you have to devote to exercise. A sedentary person could begin
with a 15 minute routine three times a week until they begin building up their
endurance and strength. Each week add five minutes to each workout. For an
oversized person (35 percent body fat or more) that has never worked out before, it
would be alright to start with your nutritional program for a few weeks. Once you
feel more energetic, start with a walking program. Get outside and start moving.
The more you move the better. Each calorie counts whether it goes in or out. If
you are already an active individual, then it is time to get serious about exercise.
Start with 25 to 30 minutes of cardio and do a full body workout two to three times
per week. 70 percent of your healthy lifestyle is comprised of your daily nutritional
program. This
The Seven Dimensions Of Aba
The Seven Dimensions of ABA Applied to Individuals with ASD The hallmarks of
autism spectrum disorder (ASD) involve marked deficits in social interaction as
well as engagement in repetitive behaviors and language difficulties (Leblanc,
Richardson, Warnie, 2005). Although autism can have a profound impact on the
capabilities and functioning of the individual, emerging research indicates that
applied behavioral analysis (ABA) can be an effective tool for addressing many of
the deficits that children with ASD face (Boutot Myles, 2016). In fact, emerging
research indicates that when ABA is utilized for the treatment of young children
with ASD many of the challenges faced by this group can be ameliorated (Boutot
Myles, 2016). With these issues in mind the current investigation considers the
seven elements of ABA identified by Baer, Wolf, and Risley (1968) in their
seminal article on applied behavioral analysis and their application to individuals
with ASD. Through a critical review of the seven elements of ABA in relation to
ASD it will be possible to illustrate how this approach can be effective for
improving outcomes for individuals diagnosed with autism. Application of the Seven
Elements The seven elements of ABA identified by Baer et al. (1968) include:
applied, behavioral, analytic, technological, conceptual, effective, and generality.
Cooper, Heron, and Heward (2007) provide a succinct review of each of the seven
elements. According to these authors, applied refers to

The development of every person is the journey from childhood to adulthood
through the challenging period of adolescence. This period leads to a great
transformation of the human body which also has a great effect on the
psychological state of a person. Such transformation of a unique intersex person is
discovered by Jeffrey Eugenides in his novel Middlesex that became a bestseller
and won a Pulitzer Prize. The author fills the novel with numerous autobiographic
details, whereas the work traces the story of a biological male who was raised as a girl
until the truth is revealed in the period of adolescence. I also have found a variety of
moments that resonate with my feelings and experiences of adolescence during
puberty that was still far from the hell Calliope faces. The example of the
transformation illustrated by Eugenides in Middlesex can be viewed as a change
that any person goes through, but that is much more radical in its effect. The main
character is introduced in the following first lines of the novel; I was born twice:
first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and
then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in
August of 1974 (Eugenides 8). The rebirth of the main character that is performed
in adolescent age is one of the most crucial themes of the novel. Until the age of
fourteen, Calliope was a girl, and despite how she faced her differences from the rest
of the girls, she did not suggest

Review of Ten Best CodePlex project for ASP.NET Developers
Preface
New technology brings with it the puzzle of how and where from to get
experience. Software developers are divided between the use of a very freshly
made technology to come up with an effective plan and how to get up the scale as
a competent developer without developing substantive projects. That apparently
super illustrates to us the egg chicken riddle. These days, there is pretty limited
time to carry out assignments, that is, days, as opposed to before when one could
do a single task in months. Therefore, developers have no the luxury of learning
through trial and error as it would only waste time which is also a resource in
production. There should be economic time use. More so, the project idea should
also be attractive to draw people in for the soup.
Instead of learning through trial and error, most application builders apprentice
through other established developers. They look at the source codes of these
successful developers. Websites like GitHub, Microsoft and SourceForge, share a
vast wealth of knowledge on coding and this is precisely the trend in which the open
source community gains knowledge on codes. The realization of CodePlex has
however made code distribution more effortless and intense.
The Ten Best CodePlex Project for ASP.NETDevelopers article sheds light on those
projects that will help one to
The Controversial Issues Of Abortion
One of the most highly controversial issues plaguing our country today is that of
abortion. This debate arose in the mid to late 1800 s when states began passing
laws to make abortion illegal ( History of Abortion ). Although each law varied
from state to state, the reason for making it illegal seemed to be similar: All
surgical procedures, including abortion, were risky and hospitals and well practiced
doctors were not common in most areas. Back alley abortions (illegal abortions)
were very common during this time. Even when the scientific methods and
technology became more advanced, women were still getting unsafe abortions. It
wasn t until the Roe v. Wade debate in 1973 that women were able to get a safe,
legal abortion from a well trained medical professional. It also ruled that women had
their right to privacy, and it was the women s right to decide whether or not she would
have children. There have been many restrictions and guidelines put on abortion such
as parental involvement, mandatory waiting periods, and biased counseling. As of
right now, abortion is legal. Abortion should remain legal because of the following
issues child bearing women can potentially face: medical issues, safety concerns, and
rape/incest situations. Women considering abortion may be undergoing this
procedure due to very serious medical issues, either with the child or themselves. A
common, fatal condition in children where most women choose to terminate their
pregnancy is Trisomy 18.
Prison Case Study
Creating a New Program
Dallas County Jail houses inmates that are currently awaiting trial for cases that
they have be charged or alleged to have committed. Many of the inmates of the
Dallas County jail are eligible for a bond that is previously set by Magistrates
/ Judges upon the inmate s arrest for the alleged offense. The inmates often face the
possibility of losing employment and housing as well as possible family crisis as a
result of current incarceration. Many of the inmates face the task of finding adequate
childcare while they are incarcerated. The inmate often faces the difficult decision of
having access to monetary amounts to afford the down payment for the scheduled
bond amount set by the Magistrates/Judges. According to ... Show more content on

The incardinated population includes defendants that suffer from various mental and
medical issues where provisions and accommodations are limited due to staffing and
funding issues. The current cost to house the nearly 6000 inmates in Dallas County
jail is roughly $60 per day. The enormous cost toward housing these inmates can be
detrimental to the budget as often times a Defendant is awaiting trial for over 12
months. Many of the inmates housed have also been charged with non violent
offenses or have been charged with offenses that are substance abuse. Many inmates
that are been housed in Dallas County jail have ties to the community with family
and employment and would be candidates for Pre Trial Bond Supervision.
Creating A New Program In creating a new program this will allow many of the
inmates that are currently in custody awaiting child to be released on bond and be
supervised in the community under the new Pre Trial Bond Supervision Program.
The Judges would set minimal and affordable bonds based on the nature of the
offense, risk they pose to the community, employment status and family dynamics. In
the creating this new program it would save taxpayers money, reduce possible jail
overcrowding and allow defendant the opportunity to maintain a somewhat normal
lifestyle. This program will also allow those who have been placed on community
supervision and have violated probation conditions to be released from custody and
continue to report to a

Special reagents are required for the derivatization of chiral compounds which are
superimposable and grouped as enantiomers. The reaction of purely chiral reagents
with enantiomeric compounds will proceed to the formation of a racemic mixture
that is two derivative enantiomers of one compound and is separated using gas
Chromatography to give separate diastereomers for each enantiomer. Chiral
derivatization is in high demand due to research on chiral
The Negative Effects of Concentrated Animal Feeding...
Introduction
Where do happy cows actually come from? Most of our minds create an image of
large fields where cows and other animals are free to roam and graze. In reality,
however, most farms today are actually large corporate factories, not the vast fields
and red barns that most Americans imagine. These consolidated operations known
as CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) are able to produce meats in
high volume but have little to no regard for animal or human welfare, the
environment, or food safety. CAFOs in the United States are able to produce and
process these large amounts of meat year round by providing sheltered farms for a
range of livestock such as cattle, swine, and sheep. However, within these farms
animals are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent outbreaks of strains of the influenza only further support stricter regulations
on CAFOs. One such case is the H1N1 epidemic, more commonly known as the
swine flu. Since its outbreak in 2009 this particular strain of the flu has infected
over 150,000 and killed another 12,000 people in the US (CDC). It name comes
from its alleged origin, a swine CAFO in La Gloria, Mexico operated by Smithfield
Foods, the world largest. The CAFO itself has been described as grotesque because
pigs are crammed into giant building, kept in stalls so small they can t even turn
around... The pollution from their waste is so noxious that you must wear a gas mask
to enter the building (Brainard). These conditions lead to the misuse of antibiotics
which results in strains like H1N1 that cannot be treated with regular antibiotics. If
this continues, many of our medicines will become obsolete. Current statistics show
that an estimated 70% of all antibiotics and related drugs used in the United States
are given to food animals to promote faster growth and to hold off diseases in highly
crowded CAFOs, with the resulting total antibiotic resistance already causing U.S.
health care $4 billion annually ( Hidden Costs of CAFOs ). With this pressing issue,
the EPA needs to change policies in order prevent epidemics. A closer look reveals
that many CAFOs are able to sidestep through
The Roles of The National Security Enterprise
The National Security Enterprise (NSE) is the overarching government apparatus
responsible for national security decision making. This is generally thought of as the
National Security Council (NSC) and the Department and Agencies they represent.
However, Roger Z George and Harvey Rishikof point out in The National Security
Enterprise: Navigating the Labyrinth that national security decision making may rest
with the President and the NSC but is significantly influenced by the Modern Media
(including the traditional Press), lobbyist, think tanks, and the US Congress. A
significant role for the NSE is ensuring that these different elements of government
can exchange information, share responsibilities, and collaborate to avert or at least
minimize damage to U.S. foreign and domestic interests.(George and Rishikof 2011)
The National Security Act of 1947 created the National Security Council. The
National Security Council (NSC) is the principal White House institution that is
responsible for coordinating national security strategy, advising the president on
national security issues, overseeing policy implementation through the interagency
process, and responding to national security crises. (George and Rishikof 2011) The
exact make up of the National Security Council has fluctuated with the changes in
Presidential administrations. It has always consisted of the Vice President, the
Secretaries of Defense, and State, the two statutory advisors the Chairman of the Joint

Do you agree with the view expressed in source three that the diplomatic situation
was the main reason for Henry s failure to obtain an annulment of his marriage to
Catherine by 1529? We can clearly see that there is more than one reason why Henry
wanted to gain an annulment to Catherine in 1529, and that it wasn t purely down to
reasons all diplomatically related. Although saying this, it s also clear that the
diplomatic situation at the time was a huge contributing factor for the failure. It most
definitely did slow down the progress Henry made in achieving his annulment. At the
time of the annulment, it was known that the Popewas hugely influenced by Charles

Another diplomatic situation that stacked against Henry, was the lack of allies he
had, and especially the fact that he had no powerful allies to support him in his
struggle, or powerful enough to oppose the Pope and Charles. With it looking that
Henry had absolutely no diplomatic power or control in this situation, it was
looking that he would stand almost no chance in changing the mind of the Pope
and Charles into agreeing to the annulment. Although it s beginning to look like
diplomatic status was the only reason that caused the failure in the annulment,
there were other factors such as Wolsey. At this point in time,Wolsey was widely
unpopular, especially in England. He had previously had huge influence amongst
the ranks of the courtiers, but they now felt no need to obey his orders. Due to this,
he justlike Henry had very few allies, and the few he did have weren t powerful
enough to help him in his cause. Due to this he was faced with great issues when it
came to convincing Campeggio that Henry had plausible reason to gain an
annulment. Arguably the biggest fault of Wolsey, would be his very poor relations
with the Vatican and the papacy. Source J says that Wolsey s only real hope at
obtaining Henry s annulment would be to turn the people on Charles and gain more
powerful allies such as
Cornel West s On Black-Jewish Relations
In On Black Jewish Relations Essay, Cornel West starts by analyzing the reasoning
for why Black Jewish relations in the United States seem to be deteriorating over the
years. These ongoing competitive fights are called Black Anti Semitism and Jewish
Anti Black Racism. Consequently, West points out that both Jewish and African
Americans have come from a hard past where they have experienced oppression,
humiliation and discrimination many times by other ethnic and/or racial groups.
West then alleges that at one time, African American and Jewish leaders like Martin
Luther King and Abraham Joshua Heschel worked for this problem and decided to
form alliances between the two ethnic groups. Unfortunately, this strong helping
relationship was totally unsuccessful and the two ethnic groups went opposite
direction, making the tension between them rise steeply.
Furthermore, West conveys that hatred of Jews began at the center of medieval and
modern European cultures (such as Christianity), and was based on religious and
social motives. One of these reasons is the Christian stereotypes of Jews as Christ
killers. Nevertheless, my stand on this particular issue is that I both agree to a certain

African Americans now seem to despise the Jews and see them as their

I have yelled, whispered, written and even thought this simple sentence a million
times in my life. For as long as I could remember, I ve always hated reading.
I hated reading assignments, books from school, books mom made you choose from

Why?
It was a waste of time.
I craved experiences and figuring things out on my own. Reading got in the way of
that. So I did my best to avoid reading as much as possible. But it wasn t easy, the
older I got the harder it was to get around reading.

I also joined a few online book clubs, just to get suggestions for books to read. One of
my favorites is Ryan Holiday s Reading Recommendation List, it s completely free.
Every month Ryan posts an update about the books he read and recommends that
month. I also write down books that are mentioned in other books, and add them to
my list. So inevitably, when I check off a book from that list, I add several more,
never making any headway on the list, but that excites me.
It lets me know that there is always more to learn, more to gain, more to be added to
my life.
In all likelihood, the list will never stop growing. But it s not something that has to
be accomplished. It s something to experience, to take in, digest, and explore
through your own eyes. I now believe there is something to be taken from each
book. Something that can be applied to your life, either as something to embrace
and weave into your personal fabric or something that perhaps you see in yourself
that needs to be eliminated for a better you. Or perhaps the book just offers another
opinion, a different angle on a question, event, or experience for you to consider to

Results indicated caregivers burden was negatively correlated with their quality of
life. (Tay et al., 2014). Although the focus is on evaluating the caregivers quality
of life, it is important to acknowledge how the patient themselves are in terms of
well ness when analyzing the caregiver, as varying levels of dementia can
determine the amount of care needed. Shua Haim, Hain, Shi, Kuo Smith (2001)
found that caregivers who cared for patients with depression were 3.1 times more
likely to develop depression themselves, than those who took care of non
depressed patients. Baumgartern et al. (1994) older study indicated relatively
similar results. After taking the CED scale, caregivers of dementia patients were
2.1 points more depressed than compared to the non dementia caregiver group.
These studies indicate, if the patient resembles depressive like symptoms,
caregivers will likely do the same. It is also important to consider the patient s
symptoms and behavior as a factor on burden and the emotional toll it takes on the
caregiver. Beach et al. (2005) found patients who needed more care in their
activities of daily living, were more likely to report potentially harmful caregiver
behaviors. This suggest possibly a higher negative impact on informal caregivers,
caring for loved ones with more severe dementia. Positive Outcomes Although the
negative effects of dementia on caregivers quality of life is a great concern, recent
research looks to evaluate the positive

How many of us would like to turn every dull moment into a fun with a game?
Veitch s main idea is that that everything mundane in life can be turned into fun if
you find the right game. I agree with Veitch because I feel we can have fun of every
moment with a game. We have access to everything and everything has access to us
because of the internet, you can unsubscribe from something and still be contacted,

Everything has access to us and we have access to everything because of the

Analysis Of Michael Moore s Sicko
Michael Moore has been known to create films in which in my opinion has shown
how liberal minded and bias he can really be, a truly unsatisfying quality, when you
think of the issues that are covered in his films and the power he has to carry out
real change. However, in this film Sicko he has really grown from the Michael Moore
we all have grown to dislike, the film is very insightful, generating quality thoughts
and questioning, why do we not fight more to advocate for a better health care
system? Mr. Moore gave some exceptional facts with exception towards the end of
the film, when he uses sarcasm and clearly political propaganda to show war
enemies receiving the best of care, while hard working Americans receive subpart
care. I guess the old saying rings true that you can t teach an old dog new tricks.
This film focuses on one of our nation s biggest issue, The Health Care System. At
every presidential election debate, the topic is brought up to gage on how each
candidate will, during their presidency, rectify or even improve the current system
that is already failing thousands of Americans. Mr. Moore has tried to exposed the
industry for what it truly is, a profitable billion dollar business, with well paid CEO
s and Doctors that get paid more based on how many surgeries the perform for ill
patients and not by how well they ve treated patients with preventive care to avoid
diseases.
This film seemed more pathos, even with the addition of some facts and figures on
How Biases Affect Jury Duty In Twelve Angry Men
The play Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose demonstrates how biases can affect
jury duty. A bias is a prejudice in favor of a particular group, person, or thing
resulting in unfairness. This play gives readers an example of how biases influence
the thoughts of many. Each juror is biased in their own way, whether it is race, age,
or gender. These bias prevent people from seeing the truth to a side of a story. The
twelve jurors must determine the fate of the eighteen year old boy without leading
their biases in different interpretations of the evidence. Biased stereotypes tend to
combine with the tendency to repent information proving evidence. More times than
not the ones who are biased do not realize it. They proceed to input their conscience...

Juror Eight seems to be the opposite, feeling sympathetic for the boy because of his
poor upbringing. He demands to overview the case evidence given by the old man
and the old woman, seeing as there is plausible doubt in the details. He refuses to
let Juror Three s accusations of him and the defendant upset him instead he
proceeds to convince the remaining jurors that the boy is not guilty. The race of the
characters are never announced because the play is supposed to be interpreted in
any way the reader wants to see it. Juror Eight is clearly more intelligent than Juror
Three considering Three sticks to his prejudices and does not allow the other jurors
to sway his mind. After defending his side throughout the duration of the play, Jurors
Four and Three begin to feel pressured. They end up giving in to the other jurors at
towards the end of the play as they communicatively persuade a stubborn

Legend Of Orpheus Comparison
Throughout Opera s long history, the myth of Orpheus has been one of the genre s
most recognized stories. Many operas have been based on the Greek legend of
Orpheus. The legend of Orpheus tells a story of the demigod musician whose
songs conquer Hades itself with their beauty. The use of music in the Greek legend
serves the same purpose, as music does in operas, to show the power of music, and
how it can change emotions, and how intertwined music and love is. This tale of
love, a love so strong it can overcome death, shows how true passion can bring
music to life. The Operas show that music is able to soften any heart and overcome
any obstacle.
Out of all the Operas composed based on the Orpheus legend, there are two that stand

When Benedetto Handel advised Gluck that his works had not pleased the public
he traveled to Paris where he was very much influenced by the operas of Jean
Philippe Rameau. From 1755 to 1761 he was in Vienna, where he began reforming
opera along the more dramatic lines suggested in Marcello s Teatro alla moda. Gluck
composed his piece Orfeo ed Euridice in 1762.
In the legend, Orpheus is considered the greatest musician to have ever lived. He
was the son of the God Apollo, the god of the son, music, truth and prophecy.
According to the story, Orpheus wife Euridice was unfortunately bitten by a snake
and killed while trying to escape from Aristaeus, a Shepard, who was overcome by
her beauty and was pursuing her through the woods. When Orpheus learned of
Euridice s death he was grief stricken and sang, he sang a tune so beautiful it
deeply touched everything, living and not living, in all the world and the heavens
above. He descended into Hades, and when he played his song, even managed to
melt Hades cold heart. He was told that he told take Euridice, but only on one
condition, he could not look upon her until they were out of the underworld. As
foreshadowed, Orpheus could not resist looking back before they had fully escaped
the underworld, and he lost her forever along with meeting his own death soon after.
Both operas replace the tragedy of the original myth with something more suiting and
cheerful. In L Orfeo, the opera ends with Orpheus being
The Giver Vs Pleasantville
A Meaningful Life The beautiful unrepayable gift of life we receive at the moment
of birth has to be one of the most complicated things to understand. People go
through so many experiences in a lifetime to learn and grow up to be unique
individuals. Life is an incredible experience, but why do some of us spend our time
following uneventful lifestyles that restrain us from attaining happiness? Using a
transition from a black and white world to one of color, both the novel The Giver
and the film Pleasantville, suggest the importance of living a life of meaning as
each narrative s main character embarks on a quest to discover the beauty of
emotions and the individuality of which they have been deprived. The Giver lives in

A BRIEF HISTORY OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION
Until it crystallized into a political concept and became the long term goal of the
Member States of the European Community, the European idea was unknown to all
but philosophers and visionaries. The notion of a United States of Europe was part of
a humanistic pacifistic dream which was shattered by the conflicts which brought so
much destruction to the European continent in the first half of this century. The
vision of a new Europe which would transcend national antagonism finally emerged
from the resistance movements which had sprung up to resist totalitarianism during
the Second World War. Altiero Spinelli, the Italian federalist and Jean Monnet, the

The Community expanded southwards with the accession of Greece in 1981 and
Spain and Portugal in 1986. These enlargements made it even more imperative to
implement structural programmes designed to reduce the disparities between the

During this period the Community began to play a more important role
internationally, signing new agreements with countries in the southern Mediterranean
and countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, which were linked to the
Community by four successive Lome Conventions (1975, 1979, 1984, 1989).
With the agreement signed in Marrakesh on 14 April 1994 , between all the member

The objective is to determine the most cost effective method to decrease the project s
deadline. The project plan discussed below has been generated through the use of a
projectplanning scheduling technique, Critical Path Methodology, to secure the
scientific approach. The program schedule provides a quantitative basis to make
managerial decisions to shorten the implementation time of the overall project.
2. Assumptions and Approximations
The mathematical model created to schedule all the projects is based upon a number
of simplifying assumptions and approximations. These need to be taken into account
in order to make an independent judgment about the model s usefulness.
The assumptions and approximations of this model are:

The National Park Is Truly One Of America s Greatest
Gems
Yosemite National Park is truly one of America s greatest gems. Its beauty and
majesty have been formed over hundreds of millions of years through numerous
geological events and processes. Yosemite has long been a popular topic for
research for geologists, as the geological processes that formed it are of great
interest. Yosemite has an interesting geological history, as many different processes
are responsible for its features today. About 500 million years ago, the Pacific plate
started to subduct under the North American plate, causing melting due to the water
in the subducting oceanic plate (Huber, 1987). These melting rocks rose and intruded
into other rocks. The rise of the magma caused the uplifting of the range that we
today call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its rocks, largely granitic in composition are a product of the volcanism that
occurred in the area during the subduction of the Pacific plate. Sedimentary and
metamorphic rocks are quite rare in Yosemite, as the igneous granite dominates
the landscape. (Huber, 1987). There are many different types of granite in
Yosemite and the different granitic formations are called suites . The type of
granite depends on what type of granitic magma intruded up into the rocks when
the magma rose after the subduction of the Pacific plate (Huber, 1987). There is a
large amount of glacial till and volcanic rocks in the Northeastern corner of the
park, and pockets of metamorphic rock in the Southeastern and Southwestern
parts, and most other rocks in the park are some sort of granite (Huber, 1987).
Overall, the nature of Yosemite s rocks are a product of the various geological
processes that formed them. Water has also been important in forming the park s
rock formations, cutting through canyons and eroding great faces of rock. When
Yosemite started to uplift, the gradient of the streams increased as the streams cut
deeper and deeper into the canyon (Huber, 1987). Over time, Yosemite s streams
have eroded the rocks away, but because granite is not very permeable, once the
granitic core of the Sierra Nevadas was exposed, erosion slowed down. The erosion

Science is simply the pursuit of knowledge, the study of what we know, and the
quest to know more. Therefore, all scientific studies must by necessity be founded
upon the belief that there are objective realities existing in the world and these
realities may be discovered and proven. Without absolutes, what would there be to
study? How may one know that the findings of science are real? In fact, the very
laws of science are founded on the existence of absolute truth. (The Bible Has
Answers, 2002, p. 1). Mankind seeks God, hopes for the future, and answers to
their deepest questions. Religion itself is a good testimony for absolute truth. It is
really evidence that mankind is more than just a highly evolved animal. It is
evidence of a higher purpose and of the existence of a personal and purposeful
Creator who implanted in the hearts of mankind the desire to know Him. He
becomes the standard for absolute truth, and it is His authority that establishes that
truth. (The Bible Has Answers, 2002). What needs to be taught in the classroom is
absolute truth. It should be taught with zealousness for the achievement of the great
commission Matthew 28:19 20: therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you
always, to the very end of the age.
Genetic Mutation
In biology, term mutation has been described as changes to the base pair sequence of
the genetic material of an organism. Mutations can be caused by: copying errors in
the genetic material during cell division, by exposure to ultraviolet or ionizing
radiation, chemical mutagens, or viruses, or can occur deliberately under cellular
control during processes such as hypermutation. In multicellular organisms, mutations
can be subdivided into germ line mutations, which can be passed on to descendants,
and somatic mutations, which cannot be transmitted to descendants in animals.
Plants sometimes can transmit somatic mutations to their descendants asexually or
sexually (in case when flower buds develop in somatically mutated part of plant). A...

Instead there is an abnormal type of hemoglobin S that is inherited as an
autosomal inherited trait. This disease produces chronic anemia, which may
become life threatening when hemolytic crises (the breakdown of redblood cells)
or aplastic crises (bone marrow fails to produce blood cells) occur. The incidence
of this disorder is 1/400 African Americans and 8/100,000 people. The
manifestations of this disease are a result of the fragility and inflexibility of the
sickle red bloodcells. When exposed to a lack of water, infection, and low oxygen
supply, these delicate red blood cells take the shape of a crescent. This then causes
blood cell devastation and thickening of the blood. Sickle cell anemia has the
potential to be life threatening and can affect other body systems and parts of the
body. Those included are the nervous system, bones, the kidneys and the liver.
Maternal PKU is a genetic disorder that stems from point mutation. 1/15,000 people
fall victim to this disorder. Phenylketonuria (PKU) has been shown as a cause of
retardation in infant fetuses. Children in the fetus begin with a normal amount of
phenylalanine hydroxylase but are affected by the mother s elevated phenylalanine
level due to the imbalance of prenatal amino acid. Mental deficiency is clearly
evident in disorder and usually consists of I.Q.s of 50.
Career Prospects Vary For Me
Career prospects vary for me, as I am interested in numerous departments in film,
such as acting, cinematography, screenwriting or directing. Film directing is what
I currently feel most strongly about. A film director is the person who is solely
responsible for visualizing the script from casting, to shot direction, camera
angles, etc. The screenwriter is the person who develops and textualize characters
and concept through a script to be sold off to a producer, with the end goal in it
becoming a moving picture. Through this collaborative process, disagreements
are subject to arise between the writer and director. It is only natural, and
disagreements normally stem from the different visions that each hold. As an
aspired director, I may one day in the future find myself in a situation where I would
vision a female lead versus a male lead as visioned by the writer for a particular story
or script. There is a strong chance that, as a feminist, I may choose to discard the
writer s vision and cast a female as the lead for the film. If a philosopher were to
evaluate my actions, what would he or she say? In Hollywood there are fewer and
fewer opportunities for women to star in lead roles. As a feminist, one who
advocates for the equality of women, I would push for more and more
opportunities for talented actresses to have a chance to star as a lead in a film. In
the future when I am confronted with a script with a lead that can be played by
either a female or male, I will make
Essay about History of the Colorado River
INTRODUCTION According to tree ring scientists from the University of Arizona in
Tuscon, the Colorado River went through a six decade long drought during the mid
1100s. This drought was longer than any other drought know to the region. The
Colorado River is essential to the American Southwest, draining into about 242,000
square miles of land to include seven U.S. states: Arizona, California, Colorado,
Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change predicted in a recent report that the Southwestern U.S. Will become hotter
and drier as the climate warms. With human caused climate change and run off
reduction, it has been predicted that the Colorado River could become dry by 2012.

Today the color of the river is more of a blue green though, due to the creation of the
Glen Canyon Dam in 1963. The silt and sediments that gave the river its reddish
brown color are now trapped behind the dam at the bottom of Lake Powell. Before
the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam, the Colorado river could carry around
500,000 tons of silt and sediment per day through the Grand Canyon. The peak
flow rate before the dam was normally around 85,000 cfs (abbreviation for cubic
feet per second which is used to measure river flow rates). The peak flow rate after
construction was reduced to 30,000 cfs. The reduction in cfs resulted in a smaller
distribution of the iconic red colored silt and sediment. The main reason for the
creation of the Glen Canyon Dam was to stop silt from building up behind Hoover
Dam. The construction of the dam has had a negative impact on the Grand Canyon
environment. The flash floods that at one time scrubbed the canyon clean and
deposited fresh sand along the beaches no longer occurs. The water temperature
used to get as warm as 80 degrees F. It is now icy cold year round and averages
around 42 degrees F. Because of this drastic temperature change, some of the native
fish that used to flourish in the river have become extinct while others have
become endangered. The desert is no place to be without water. It is one of man s

Susan B Anthony (Susan Brownell Anthony) was a suffragist, abolitionist, author,

Early Life: She was on born on February 15,1820 in Adams, Massachusetts and was
the second oldest of eight children. Her parents were Daniel Anthony, a local mill
owner, and his wife, Lucy Read. She grew up in a quaker family and in 1826 her

encouraging the society s cause until the Civil War. When the Civil War ended Susan

In 1866 Susan Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton started the American Equal Rights

In 1872, she voted illegally in the presidential election and was arrested. Susan s trial

Why Did The Incas Left Machu Picchu
Although is believe that the Incas left Machu Picchu after the Spanish conquered,
the Spaniards did not find the settlement. There is no evidence that the place was
altered at any point in time. Only local families knew about the existence of these
place but they were not aware of the real importance of the sanctuary. On July of
1911, the colony was discovered by casualty and the leader of the expedition was
Hiram Bingham. The explorer main focus was to find Vilcabamba, which everybody
thought it was the last ruins of the Inca Empire, but instead, he found a lot more, he
found the lost city . Because of the time gap between the departure of the Incas and
the actual discovery by Bingham most of the routes used by the Incas were hidden.
The
Evaluation Of The Wildlife Photographer, Shooting...
Technical specifications matter. They can also be confusing or overwhelming. Many
of the previously discussed topics will help you know which technical specifications
to research, as only some of them will be important to you and your photography
goals. For the wildlife photographer, shooting tethered is a feature that may never be
used. On the other hand, a portrait photographer or stock photographer may find
tethered shooting invaluable. Other technical details will be determined by your
personal preferences, such as which type of storage or batteries you want to invest in.
These are considerations you can research in general before visiting your camera
store, with specific pros and cons discussed with your salesperson as you discuss ...

Your photography goals will help determine which sensor size is required. If you
have already decided that you are purchasing a medium format camera, this
information is less important for you than for others since the medium format
camera uses the medium format sensor. However, if you expect to purchase one of
the other camera types, such as an SLR, DSLR, or a compact/mirrorless camera, you
will want to learn more about the common sensor sizes.
It s important to be aware that sensor size and sensor resolution are different, and
that the resolution of the final image is related to both of these, plus other,
specifications. The largest sensor size commonly used in the more common
camera types is called the full frame sensor, which is most similar to 35mm film.
The APS H, APS C, and Four Thirds sensors have smaller dimensions and are
commonly called crop sensors. Note that for each of these dimensions, the
sensitivity or number of pixels can vary, resulting in potentially different resolutions
for that particular sensor size. Manufacturers are pushing the technical capabilities
and hardware as much as possible, so be sure to read about their most recent
releases if resolution is a priority for you. Very generally speaking, the larger sensor,
the higher the potential resolution. If your goal is large sized, fine art prints, the
larger the sensor you can reasonably purchase makes sense. Otherwise, for smaller
sized prints, including social media, crop

S: Darling, where re you? We ve already been sitting here for 20 minutes. Come on!
Leave your В«BabeВ» for a while. It s important!
L: Yeah, daddy, please. I m very tired and I want to snooze
(вздремнуть), but mom said that I wouldn t go to bed until we came
to an agreement.
O: All right, all right. I m here. В«BabeВ», I ll be back soon.
S: Oh, your car won t disappear unlike us. If you want to stay at home with your dear

we with Susan will travel the world alone.
O: Oh, women women, what a wet blanket they are! (Murmuring)

L: Nothing serious, it was just a little joke, but it was so laughable to see your eyes

Brief History And Evolution Of Las Vegas
A Brief History and Evolution of Las Vegas and its Casino Marketing Strategies
Angela Rossetti Abstract Every year Las Vegas attracts nearly thirty five million
tourists. What was once a barren desert is now one of the most well known cities
in the world. Known for its neon lights and license to sin, it is no wonder that the
success story of the city of Las Vegas appears to just be beginning. This paper will
look at the history of Las Vegas, various marketing strategies within Las Vegas, and
take a closer look at specific marketing strategies of some of the most successful
hotels currently in the city that lives under the famous neon lights. History of Las
Vegas Las Vegas found its humble beginning in 1905 when the Union Pacific

Sixty six slot machine licenses were issued to store, restaurant, and club owners by
the city that year. Las Vegas was now on the map. Its slow but steady growth
resulted in newly paved roads, new construction, and an increase in tourism. A
controversial law allowing divorce after the shortest required period of residency
in the country brought considerable income to the city as well as thousands of new
residents hoping to get unhitched. Construction of the Boulder Dam began that
year as well. Workers and their families flocked to the outskirts of Las Vegas with
nothing but time and extra money from their new jobs. Construction workers
comprised the majority of the gamblers for this town early on. Despite the bad
press that the workers were bringing to Las Vegas, their gambling losses provided
the revival that the city so desperately needed. As the completion of the construction
of the Boulder Dam neared, the city launched an advertising campaign to promote
tourism in Las Vegas. Flyers were distributed across the southerwestern states.
Advertisements were posted in train, airline and bus ticket offices across the nation.
The town continued to diversify through water and nature events at Lake Mead,
sporting events, rodeos, and the like. These events were promoted via talk radio in
surrounding states. Las Vegas welcomed a new wave of tourism with open arms and
began to see growth like never before. While divorces helped sustain Las Vegas
financially,
Vivaldi s Seasons
Vivaldi s winter one of the amazing parts to Vivaldi s work of art known as Four
Seasons does an outstanding job showing the poetry through the music. He starts
off from the very beginning of the piece with teeth chattering. If you were to take a
look at the poem he is referring to the very first line is Frozen and trembling among
the chilly snow . Vivaldi demonstrates these actions by using fierce, fast, and high
pitched sounds all throughout the piece. He then continues to demonstrate the
second line around the one minute and thirty second mark by using a violin to
demonstrate the Horrid Winds (line 2 Stanza 1). The violin is played to an allegro
tempo and by being played in such a manner; it gives off this cold, dark,... Show more

These things continue till you reach the three minute and fifteen second mark. At
this particular point in the piece you hear legs tremble with cold (line 3 stanza 1);
you also hear the teeth chatter with the frightful cold (line 4, stanza 1). Then as
you get closer to the three minute and a half mark the allegro tempo seems to slow
down and three minutes and thirty three second Vivaldi takes a full measure of
rest which could be portrayed as line 5 in stanza 2. Line five in stanza two clearly
states We move to the fire and contented peace . The rest was intentionally put into
the piece in order to emphasize the contentment. At the five minute mark, you hear
the tempo of the harmony speed up a little bit which could emphasize walking
which is taking place in lines seven and eight in stanza 2. Stanza three lines nine
through eleven is clearly shown at the seven minute forty seconds mark. The
harmony is dark, yet the melody is light like the snow. He used instruments to give
the listener a circular motion feeling which shows that he is emphasizing the fall to
earth (line 9 stanzas 2). At the very end of the piece he speeds the tempo back up to
allegro and ends with

Our goal is to change our body composition so that our lean mass (muscle and bones, etc.) goes up and our fat mass (body fat percentage) goes down. The more lean mass your body has the quicker your metabolism will be. The quicker your metabolism is, the more calories your body will burn and ultimately the more calories you can eat to maintain your desired goal. The next step is to figure out how much time you have to devote to exercise. A sedentary person could begin with a 15 minute routine three times a week until they begin building up their endurance and strength. Each week add five minutes to each workout. For an oversized person (35 percent body fat or more) that has never worked out before, it would be alright to start with your nutritional program for a few weeks. Once you feel more energetic, start with a walking program. Get outside and start moving. The more you move the better. Each calorie counts whether it goes in or out. If you are already an active individual, then it is time to get serious about exercise. Start with 25 to 30 minutes of cardio and do a full body workout two to three times per week. 70 percent of your healthy lifestyle is comprised of your daily nutritional program. This

The Seven Dimensions Of Aba The Seven Dimensions of ABA Applied to Individuals with ASD The hallmarks of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) involve marked deficits in social interaction as well as engagement in repetitive behaviors and language difficulties (Leblanc, Richardson, Warnie, 2005). Although autism can have a profound impact on the capabilities and functioning of the individual, emerging research indicates that applied behavioral analysis (ABA) can be an effective tool for addressing many of the deficits that children with ASD face (Boutot Myles, 2016). In fact, emerging research indicates that when ABA is utilized for the treatment of young children with ASD many of the challenges faced by this group can be ameliorated (Boutot Myles, 2016). With these issues in mind the current investigation considers the seven elements of ABA identified by Baer, Wolf, and Risley (1968) in their seminal article on applied behavioral analysis and their application to individuals with ASD. Through a critical review of the seven elements of ABA in relation to ASD it will be possible to illustrate how this approach can be effective for improving outcomes for individuals diagnosed with autism. Application of the Seven Elements The seven elements of ABA identified by Baer et al. (1968) include: applied, behavioral, analytic, technological, conceptual, effective, and generality. Cooper, Heron, and Heward (2007) provide a succinct review of each of the seven elements. According to these authors, applied refers to
  • 6. Review Of Middlesex That Became A Bestseller And Won A... The development of every person is the journey from childhood to adulthood through the challenging period of adolescence. This period leads to a great transformation of the human body which also has a great effect on the psychological state of a person. Such transformation of a unique intersex person is discovered by Jeffrey Eugenides in his novel Middlesex that became a bestseller and won a Pulitzer Prize. The author fills the novel with numerous autobiographic details, whereas the work traces the story of a biological male who was raised as a girl until the truth is revealed in the period of adolescence. I also have found a variety of moments that resonate with my feelings and experiences of adolescence during puberty that was still far from the hell Calliope faces. The example of the transformation illustrated by Eugenides in Middlesex can be viewed as a change that any person goes through, but that is much more radical in its effect. The main character is introduced in the following first lines of the novel; I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974 (Eugenides 8). The rebirth of the main character that is performed in adolescent age is one of the most crucial themes of the novel. Until the age of fourteen, Calliope was a girl, and despite how she faced her differences from the rest of the girls, she did not suggest

Software developers are divided between the use of a very freshly made technology to come up with an effective plan and how to get up the scale as a competent developer without developing substantive projects. That apparently super illustrates to us the egg chicken riddle. These days, there is pretty limited time to carry out assignments, that is, days, as opposed to before when one could do a single task in months. Therefore, developers have no the luxury of learning through trial and error as it would only waste time which is also a resource in production. There should be economic time use. More so, the project idea should also be attractive to draw people in for the soup. Instead of learning through trial and error, most application builders apprentice through other established developers. They look at the source codes of these successful developers. Websites like GitHub, Microsoft and SourceForge, share a vast wealth of knowledge on coding and this is precisely the trend in which the open source community gains knowledge on codes. The realization of CodePlex has however made code distribution more effortless and intense. The Ten Best CodePlex Project for ASP.NETDevelopers article sheds light on those projects that will help one to
  • 9. The Controversial Issues Of Abortion One of the most highly controversial issues plaguing our country today is that of abortion. This debate arose in the mid to late 1800 s when states began passing laws to make abortion illegal ( History of Abortion ). Although each law varied from state to state, the reason for making it illegal seemed to be similar: All surgical procedures, including abortion, were risky and hospitals and well practiced doctors were not common in most areas. Back alley abortions (illegal abortions) were very common during this time. Even when the scientific methods and technology became more advanced, women were still getting unsafe abortions. It wasn t until the Roe v. Wade debate in 1973 that women were able to get a safe, legal abortion from a well trained medical professional. It also ruled that women had their right to privacy, and it was the women s right to decide whether or not she would have children. There have been many restrictions and guidelines put on abortion such as parental involvement, mandatory waiting periods, and biased counseling. As of right now, abortion is legal. Abortion should remain legal because of the following issues child bearing women can potentially face: medical issues, safety concerns, and rape/incest situations. Women considering abortion may be undergoing this procedure due to very serious medical issues, either with the child or themselves. A common, fatal condition in children where most women choose to terminate their pregnancy is Trisomy 18.

Most of our minds create an image of large fields where cows and other animals are free to roam and graze. In reality, however, most farms today are actually large corporate factories, not the vast fields and red barns that most Americans imagine. These consolidated operations known as CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) are able to produce meats in high volume but have little to no regard for animal or human welfare, the environment, or food safety. One such case is the H1N1 epidemic, more commonly known as the swine flu. Since its outbreak in 2009 this particular strain of the flu has infected over 150,000 and killed another 12,000 people in the US (CDC). It name comes from its alleged origin, a swine CAFO in La Gloria, Mexico operated by Smithfield Foods, the world largest. The CAFO itself has been described as grotesque because pigs are crammed into giant building, kept in stalls so small they can t even turn around... The pollution from their waste is so noxious that you must wear a gas mask to enter the building (Brainard). Although it s beginning to look like diplomatic status was the only reason that caused the failure in the annulment, there were other factors such as Wolsey. At this point in time,Wolsey was widely unpopular, especially in England. He had previously had huge influence amongst the ranks of the courtiers, but they now felt no need to obey his orders. Due to this, he justlike Henry had very few allies, and the few he did have weren t powerful enough to help him in his cause. Cornel West s On Black-Jewish Relations In On Black Jewish Relations Essay, Cornel West starts by analyzing the reasoning for why Black Jewish relations in the United States seem to be deteriorating over the years. These ongoing competitive fights are called Black Anti Semitism and Jewish Anti Black Racism. Consequently, West points out that both Jewish and African Americans have come from a hard past where they have experienced oppression, humiliation and discrimination many times by other ethnic and/or racial groups. West then alleges that at one time, African American and Jewish leaders like Martin Luther King and Abraham Joshua Heschel worked for this problem and decided to form alliances between the two ethnic groups. Unfortunately, this strong helping relationship was totally unsuccessful and the two ethnic groups went opposite direction, making the tension between them rise steeply. Furthermore, West conveys that hatred of Jews began at the center of medieval and modern European cultures (such as Christianity), and was based on religious and social motives. Shua Haim, Hain, Shi, Kuo Smith (2001) found that caregivers who cared for patients with depression were 3.1 times more likely to develop depression themselves, than those who took care of non depressed patients. At every presidential election debate, the topic is brought up to gage on how each candidate will, during their presidency, rectify or even improve the current system that is already failing thousands of Americans. Mr. Moore has tried to exposed the industry for what it truly is, a profitable billion dollar business, with well paid CEO s and Doctors that get paid more based on how many surgeries the perform for ill patients and not by how well they ve treated patients with preventive care to avoid diseases. • 27. How Biases Affect Jury Duty In Twelve Angry Men The play Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose demonstrates how biases can affect jury duty. A bias is a prejudice in favor of a particular group, person, or thing resulting in unfairness. This play gives readers an example of how biases influence the thoughts of many. Each juror is biased in their own way, whether it is race, age, or gender. These bias prevent people from seeing the truth to a side of a story. The twelve jurors must determine the fate of the eighteen year old boy without leading their biases in different interpretations of the evidence. Biased stereotypes tend to combine with the tendency to repent information proving evidence. More times than not the ones who are biased do not realize it. They proceed to input their conscience... He demands to overview the case evidence given by the old man and the old woman, seeing as there is plausible doubt in the details. The race of the characters are never announced because the play is supposed to be interpreted in any way the reader wants to see it. Juror Eight is clearly more intelligent than Juror Three considering Three sticks to his prejudices and does not allow the other jurors to sway his mind. After defending his side throughout the duration of the play, Jurors Four and Three begin to feel pressured. They end up giving in to the other jurors at towards the end of the play as they communicatively persuade a stubborn

  • 29. Legend Of Orpheus Comparison Throughout Opera s long history, the myth of Orpheus has been one of the genre s most recognized stories. Many operas have been based on the Greek legend of Orpheus. The legend of Orpheus tells a story of the demigod musician whose songs conquer Hades itself with their beauty. The use of music in the Greek legend serves the same purpose, as music does in operas, to show the power of music, and how it can change emotions, and how intertwined music and love is. This tale of love, a love so strong it can overcome death, shows how true passion can bring music to life. The Operas show that music is able to soften any heart and overcome any obstacle. In the legend, Orpheus is considered the greatest musician to have ever lived. He was the son of the God Apollo, the god of the son, music, truth and prophecy. According to the story, Orpheus wife Euridice was unfortunately bitten by a snake and killed while trying to escape from Aristaeus, a Shepard, who was overcome by her beauty and was pursuing her through the woods. When Orpheus learned of Euridice s death he was grief stricken and sang, he sang a tune so beautiful it deeply touched everything, living and not living, in all the world and the heavens above. He descended into Hades, and when he played his song, even managed to melt Hades cold heart. He was told that he told take Euridice, but only on one condition, he could not look upon her until they were out of the underworld. As foreshadowed, Orpheus could not resist looking back before they had fully escaped the underworld, and he lost her forever along with meeting his own death soon after. Both operas replace the tragedy of the original myth with something more suiting and cheerful. In L Orfeo, the opera ends with Orpheus being

Its beauty and majesty have been formed over hundreds of millions of years through numerous geological events and processes. Yosemite has long been a popular topic for research for geologists, as the geological processes that formed it are of great interest. Yosemite has an interesting geological history, as many different processes are responsible for its features today. About 500 million years ago, the Pacific plate started to subduct under the North American plate, causing melting due to the water in the subducting oceanic plate (Huber, 1987). These melting rocks rose and intruded into other rocks. The rise of the magma caused the uplifting of the range that we today call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its rocks, largely granitic in composition are a product of the volcanism that occurred in the area during the subduction of the Pacific plate. Sedimentary and metamorphic rocks are quite rare in Yosemite, as the igneous granite dominates the landscape. (Huber, 1987). There are many different types of granite in Yosemite and the different granitic formations are called suites . The type of granite depends on what type of granitic magma intruded up into the rocks when the magma rose after the subduction of the Pacific plate (Huber, 1987). There is a large amount of glacial till and volcanic rocks in the Northeastern corner of the park, and pockets of metamorphic rock in the Southeastern and Southwestern parts, and most other rocks in the park are some sort of granite (Huber, 1987). Overall, the nature of Yosemite s rocks are a product of the various geological processes that formed them. Water has also been important in forming the park s rock formations, cutting through canyons and eroding great faces of rock. When Yosemite started to uplift, the gradient of the streams increased as the streams cut deeper and deeper into the canyon (Huber, 1987). Over time, Yosemite s streams have eroded the rocks away, but because granite is not very permeable, once the granitic core of the Sierra Nevadas was exposed, erosion slowed down. The erosion

Science is simply the pursuit of knowledge, the study of what we know, and the quest to know more. Therefore, all scientific studies must by necessity be founded upon the belief that there are objective realities existing in the world and these realities may be discovered and proven. Without absolutes, what would there be to study? How may one know that the findings of science are real? In fact, the very laws of science are founded on the existence of absolute truth. (The Bible Has Answers, 2002, p. 1). Mankind seeks God, hopes for the future, and answers to their deepest questions. Religion itself is a good testimony for absolute truth. It is really evidence that mankind is more than just a highly evolved animal. It is evidence of a higher purpose and of the existence of a personal and purposeful Creator who implanted in the hearts of mankind the desire to know Him. • 38. Career Prospects Vary For Me Career prospects vary for me, as I am interested in numerous departments in film, such as acting, cinematography, screenwriting or directing. Film directing is what I currently feel most strongly about. A film director is the person who is solely responsible for visualizing the script from casting, to shot direction, camera angles, etc. The screenwriter is the person who develops and textualize characters and concept through a script to be sold off to a producer, with the end goal in it becoming a moving picture. Through this collaborative process, disagreements are subject to arise between the writer and director. It is only natural, and disagreements normally stem from the different visions that each hold. As an aspired director, I may one day in the future find myself in a situation where I would vision a female lead versus a male lead as visioned by the writer for a particular story or script. There is a strong chance that, as a feminist, I may choose to discard the writer s vision and cast a female as the lead for the film. If a philosopher were to evaluate my actions, what would he or she say? In Hollywood there are fewer and fewer opportunities for women to star in lead roles. As a feminist, one who advocates for the equality of women, I would push for more and more opportunities for talented actresses to have a chance to star as a lead in a film. In the future when I am confronted with a script with a lead that can be played by either a female or male, I will make

Today the color of the river is more of a blue green though, due to the creation of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963. The silt and sediments that gave the river its reddish brown color are now trapped behind the dam at the bottom of Lake Powell. Before the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam, the Colorado river could carry around 500,000 tons of silt and sediment per day through the Grand Canyon. The peak flow rate before the dam was normally around 85,000 cfs (abbreviation for cubic feet per second which is used to measure river flow rates). The peak flow rate after construction was reduced to 30,000 cfs. The reduction in cfs resulted in a smaller distribution of the iconic red colored silt and sediment. The main reason for the creation of the Glen Canyon Dam was to stop silt from building up behind Hoover Dam. The construction of the dam has had a negative impact on the Grand Canyon environment. The flash floods that at one time scrubbed the canyon clean and deposited fresh sand along the beaches no longer occurs. The water temperature used to get as warm as 80 degrees F. It s important to be aware that sensor size and sensor resolution are different, and that the resolution of the final image is related to both of these, plus other, specifications. The largest sensor size commonly used in the more common camera types is called the full frame sensor, which is most similar to 35mm film. Then as you get closer to the three minute and a half mark the allegro tempo seems to slow down and three minutes and thirty three second Vivaldi takes a full measure of rest which could be portrayed as line 5 in stanza 2. Line five in stanza two clearly states We move to the fire and contented peace . The rest was intentionally put into the piece in order to emphasize the contentment. At the five minute mark, you hear the tempo of the harmony speed up a little bit which could emphasize walking which is taking place in lines seven and eight in stanza 2.
