Freakonomics Chapter 1 Summary
Freakonomics discusses odd questions that relate together. These were weird to consider at first.
After reading the text and seeing what the relationships these odd questions have in common, it is
very interesting. Unfortunately, most of the practices that the chapters refer to are not how God
intended for us to behave and live.
In the first Chapter of Freakonomics, it discusses what Schoolteachers and Sumo Wrestlers have in
common. The thing that they have in common is cheating. I never knew that sumo wrestlers could
cheat. I guess they could if they wanted to throw a win. Shocking though, is that is exactly what
they do. They lose on purpose. They lie. One of the very Ten Commandments that we are to follow
every day states that we are not to lie. Ironically enough, so do some schoolteachers cheat to have
their teaching abilities look a lot better. They change the grades that their students get on tests to...

I couldn t figure it out, but the answer is as simple as having knowledge of information that
others do not know. Real Estate agents can be schemers when it comes to the knowledge of the
real estate market. They have a pretty good idea of how much a house will be worth. They will
try to talk clients into selling their houses at a lower price in order to make money quicker by
having a quicker turnaround time. The findings even showed that agents would keep their house
on the market of an average of 3 weeks longer than a non real estate agents house (Levitt Dubner,
2005). Real estate agents will also make a house sound better by specific terms that they use when
listing it. They try to make it sound better than it is, but other real estate agents know what they
mean. The consumers and sellers do not know. This is deceiving and not how God wants people to
behave when they are supposed to be helping others. Just as 1 Corinthians 6:8 9

The Transcript Of Chicken Dinner
In the transcript of Chicken Dinner , two couples are shown eating a meal together. Each line
has abbreviated the following names: Shane (SHA), Vivian (VIV), Michael (MIC), and Nancy
(NAN). The focus here is between lines 33 through 55. Line 39 has Shane turn his body followed
with the statement, all of a sudden. Shane and Michael then engage in a mutual eye gaze. This
suggest Shane wants to grab the attention of Michael, that he is the primary recipient, and the
mutuality of the gaze suggest Michael is attentive to Shane s story. When Shane continues by
saying, dis guy go EH, followed by an imitation of the sound of the car s horn and the iconic
gesture of one pressing down on the horn, the eye gaze from Michael is broken and shifted

This article by Brooke Boucek includes useful information about the public reporting system of
universities and how the federal laws lead administrations to under report sexual assaults. Boucek
begins the article by describing the current Title IX laws for colleges and explaining other legal
procedures and acts relating to sexual assault on campuses. The article then includes the
perspectives of those accused of rape and how one college decision permanently affected their life;

The Violence of Care: Rape Victims, Forensic Nurses, and Sexual Assault Intervention. NYU Press,
2014.
As an anthropology professor at Marquette University, Semeena Mulla has the qualifications to
discuss forensics, but she connects her background to the cases of sexual assault victims. Mulla
investigates the methods nurses use to collect and preserve evidence while simultaneously
discussing the role of assault victims as patients; she argues that incorporating care and forensic
investigation with one another allows victims to understand their own situations. Another point the
author makes is the importance of caring for the victim during a collection of evidence rather than
committing a secondary rape. Mulla explains the importance of care in terms of medicine and
forensics, a different approach than my other sources. Still, her explanation of the victim s role as
an active member of the medical, investigative, and forensic processes provides refreshing insight
on making the victim feel represented. The author has the credentials for discussing forensics, so
her connection of this science to the psychology of the patient may extend beyond her area of
expertise, but she effectively delivers her

Burma Shave Compare And Contrast
I found these two companies are historically different from one another in such big ways. The
Burma Shave Co. advertising tactics were innovative for their time. In fact, so much so that
they enjoyed a thirty seven year run. They initially started out with very slow sales. Then the
founding members took a few hundred dollars and bought some wood and poles and created
their signs. A series of short poems broken down in to one liners that were spread out over short
distances along the highways of America. A part form theses signs they had very little if any ad
space in media like magazines and newspapers. One short poem along the highway read Our
fortune / Is your / Shaven face / It s our best / Advertising space / Burma Shave . That short
roadside ad really sums up Burma Shave s ad campaign. They wanted to connect with as many
buyers as possible for the cheapest pricepossible. Advertising along America s most traveled
highways of the time was the best most efficient way to do so. In fact the many they saved on
marketingmost likely made it possible to do product promotions like large give a ways. One Burma

Analysis Of Langston Hughes s Hip Hop
Langston Hughes and Mos Def are writers of different epochs but still have a lot in common; the
black experience. Langston Hughes wrote poetry from a 1920 s era point of view. Mos Def wrote
Hip Hop that portrays what is happening now in the black culture. Although from different times,
both writers still had to deal with the issues of being black in America. Writers that wrote poetry
during the Harlem Renaissancewanted to be treated equally and fairly. They also wanted to show
the world that they were educated and want to be taken seriously. Mos Def song Hip Hop looks at
how hip hop has effected the African Americansociety as a whole. Mos Def s Hip Hop looks at the
road blacks has taken to where blacks are today. We went from picking cotton, to chain gang line
chopping to be bopping, to hip hopping (Def 585), Mos Def is describing the progress blacks
has made since the Harlem Renaissance. The writers from the Harlem Renaissance was looking
for the dream, Mos Def response to Harlem Renaissance is that blacks are living the dream. There
are many flaws but there has been some progression since the earlier times of the Harlem
Renaissance.
Langston Hughes poem I, Too was written during a time when segregation was in affect, blacks
was not allowed to have a voice. I, Too spoke volumes to the people of the Harlem Renaissance, it
showed that blacks would rise and would become part of the American dream instead of facing
ongoing segregation. African Americans would

Student Observation Essay
On November 6, there was a sub the for 7th period and most of the students sat in their assigned
seats. The sub explained her expectation and how respect is her one of her rules. She then
continues to explained the instruction for the two worksheet that the teacher left for the class.
Within 15 minutes into class, I noticed that there many groups forming like a group of girls would
be grooming/putting on makeup, others would be talking, and the rest of the class would be doing
the worksheet. I then observed one student and the sub for twenty minute, and the student for the
most part was doing the worksheet and collaborating with his partner. The sub did walk around the
class several times to make sure that students were doing part of the worksheet. She would event
ask the student question over it, but mainly because she wanted to know what they were learning. I
was able to help out some students, but most student were off task. A student had an accordion, he
would play it until the sub told him to put it away. Most of the student finished the first sheet, but
not the second worksheet. Towards the end of class, she let the student with the accordion play it.
Then I observed the first 15 minutes of 8th period. The sub greeted the student at the door and
passed out the first worksheet. She then takes attendance and explained the worksheet and her
expectation before I had to leave.

Bodhisattvas Maitreya Research Paper
Bodhisattvas Maitreya
This sculpture represents Bodhisattva Maitreya. Bodhisattvas are knowledgeable characters who
defer their sanctification to support all sentient individuals (Rambelli, 207). Unlike other Buddha
statues the Bodhisattva is an invented character, not a replica of an exact character to Buddha.
Bodhisattvas have several of those attributes of Christian benefactors (Gresham and Dunham, 400).
They are sympathetic characters who assist congregants. Contrary to saints; nonetheless, they are
not affiliated with historical individuals, hagiographies, or suffering.
In some Buddhist practices, the term of the Buddhist Law is classified into several phases: the

It apparently was variegated or ornated and occupied a base, the front that was engraved with a

the first centenary B.C. and the seventh centenary A.D. in the region that is momentarily north
western Pakistan and East Afghanistan (Gresham and Dunham, 401). The technique had its roots in
Greco Roman society: ancient influences surface in the sculpted peculiarities of this Bodhisattva s

Industrialization Vs Industrialization
Industrialization had better effects on men and women of the upper and middle classes, than
with the men and women of the working classes. Industrialization began in Europe, at the time
there was a large rise in population. The population of London grew from 750,000 to 9 million in
just two years (11/9). Due to the large growth in population, people were forced to develop new
ideas such as new productions of energy and multiple story buildings. The number of factories
grew exponentially and as a result, the massive extraction of nonrenewable raw materials to feed
and to fuel industrial machinery...altered the landscape in many places (Strayer, 568). The
production of factories and work created migration to urban areas, during this time middle class
people began needing servants. People of the upper class would have anywhere from three to four
clothing changes per day, and it was typical for their staff to consist of forty to one hundred people.
Considering the size of the staff, upper classhousing had to be large enough for the staff and
family to live in, and not see each other (11/9). This was a very different way of living from those
in the working class. Living conditions were better for those in the upper and middle classes than
those in the working class, and some ideas presented in the age of Enlightenment carried over into
the Industrial Revolution.
During the time of the Industrialization, the central value of the middle class culture was

The Problem Of Nuclear Family
Imagine being on the cusp of adulthood during the 1950s when the term nuclear was becoming
more common in regards to the matter of families. The idea of that a nuclear family, a family
consisting of a man, his wife, and their children under one roof, is the only type of family that
should exist was often shoved into the faces of young Americans. The nuclear familyhad been
around for centuries, only truly developing the title of nuclear in the early twentieth century. It s
the concept that any family that doesn t fit the structure laid down by the idea isn t a family that
should be welcomed into society. During the 1950s, this took a step farther. It was expected for
someone to marry once they reached a certain age and many people considered something to be
wrong with someone if they weren t. . Though it is of note that not even before the 1950s had
passed, changes had already begun. Its best for families to move out of the narrow minded
structure it had before that isolated and secluded several groups. The positive changes show up in
many different forms over the years, whether in movements, expansions of personal freedoms and
choices, and/or in the most basic extension of open mindedness in new generations. Movements of
various strengths and sizes funneled into a dynamic shift of responsibilities in relationships. Back
in the 1950s example, it was commonplace for the father to work while the wife took care of the
house and children. Though early in the 1960s, the

Empirical Formula Of Zinc Iodide Lab Report
Introduction: The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the empirical formula of zinc
iodide, and in addition, validate the law of conservation of mass by precisely determining the
quantities of reactants and products. Empirical formula is the simplest type of chemical formula.
The simplest ratio of the number of atoms of each element in the compound is determined by the
empirical formal of a compound. Typically the ratio provided by the empirical formula contains
whole numbers. On the other hand, there are molecular formulas in which gives the definite
number of atoms of the element. Glucose (sugar) has a molecular formula of C6H12O6 and an
empirical formula of CH2 O. Finding the mass of each of the elements... Show more content on

Next, a glass stirring rod was used periodically in which dissolved the iodine. It continued to boil
for about twenty minutes and at this point in the boiling process the dark brown color of the
dissolved iodine subsided and this was an indication that displayed that the reaction had been
complete. At this moment, there was observable unreacted zinc granules in which remained at
the base of the flask. The reaction was then completed and the flask was removed from the hot
plate using tongs, the aluminum foil used to cover the top of the flask was removed. Following
that a 250 mL beaker was clean, dried and then weighed. After doing that the mass of the empty
beaker was recorded. Then a glass rod was placed across the neck of the flask and poured out into
a beaker in which was previously weighed, and left the unreacted zinc in the flask. The zinc was

Financial services differ greatly depending upon where you are at. Different countries have different
currencies, markets, laws, and accounting practices to list a few. Because of this most financial
institutions use a similar organizational structure. Goldman Sachs breaks their operations into four
segments: Institutional client services, investment management, investment banking, and
investment and lending (GS).
Institutional Client Services
They have a global structure to ensure satisfaction with strategic and financing needs of clients
around the world. In the institutional client services segment they facilitate client transactions and
make markets in fixed income, equity, currency and commodity products primarily with
institutional clients (GS). In addition to this they make markets and clear client transactions on
major stock options and futures exchanges worldwide, provide financing, securities lending and
prime brokerage services (GS). Although revenues from these activities are decreasing it is still by

Competition in the market is something Apple is going to continue to expect. Competition is
constantly growing especially since new competitors are always coming into the market.
Companies like Microsoft and IBM are Apple s direct competition in the computer market. This
has in some way affected Apple s profit margin, when computer companies such as Asus can sell
a laptop at a third of the price of an iMac laptop. But despite the increase in competition Apple, has
created a cult like atmosphere with their brand. Having worked in various studios, there are
engineers around the world who are die hard Apple computer lovers.
Important Internal Strengths and Weaknesses Internal environmental analysis is defined as factors

Mexico As A Liberal Democracy
Mexico, a country full of culture and beauty. However, many have been questioning what kind of
government does Mexico really have. There has been debate over the years if Mexico can be
considered as a Liberal Democracy. One can believe that Mexico can be considered liberal
democracy because their people are not forbidden or restrained from doing many things. Their
government treats them like the government treats people from the United States, they are free to do
what they want as long they follow the law their government has for them. The article From

Lean Vs. Lean Manufacturing Industry
Lean accountings primary use is in the manufacturing industry. A lean manufacturing company in
which lean accounting is used looks to attack wastes in all forms. This in turn reduces the cost of
goods sold. Lean accounting instead uses value stream costing. Lean accounting experts believe that
accounting itself can be lean, which can contribute to profit rather than just calculating it. Costdo not
exist to be calculated. Costsexist to be reduced (Taiichi Ohno). Lean accounting accentuates
removing waste, increasing product turnover and reducing inventory levels in the manufacturing
and production processes. The focus is on producing to meet customer demand while also achieving
the shortest production cycle. Three benefits, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This results in making it almost impossible to calculate standard costs, standard material usage, and
standard labor rates that show up on the financial statement. Examples of some companies that use
lean accounting are Toyota, Lantech, Intel, Caterpillar Inc., Ford Motor Company, and John Deere
just to name a few. Intel suggests that it use to take fourteen weeks to introduce a new chip but it
has since been reduced to ten days since its implementation of lean manufacturing and accounting.
Some of the techniques used by Ford Motor Company are effective work groups, zero waste/zero
defects, aligning global capacity with global market demand, optimizing production throughout, and
using total cost to drive performance (Ford Motors Company) Lean accounting is organized
differently than the cost accounting. Cost accounting uses departments, the product moves to the
next department for completing that phase, and then on to the next department all the while
material, labor, and factory overhead are accounted for separately in each department in order to
control cost and give assessments where waste is happening. This helps management to implement
processes to regulate losses and make changes to productivity. Unlike this traditional system, which
has been used in the early 1900 s lean accounting, uses value streams. A value stream includes
everything that is done to create value for a customer and can be easily associated with the product

Employee Industrial Relations and Strategic Hrm
Employee industrial relations strategic HRM Employee industrial relations and strategic HRM
plays an important role in how the organization manages its resources. There are many aspects of
industrial relations and strategic HRM that impact employees. Following are few major ones.
Engaging employees: Employee engagement is very important aspect of Industrial relations and
strategic HRM. Employee engagement means putting employees first. As mentioned in an
interview with Gary Burkett (managing director of FedEx). He said he joined FedEx Canada

Aggregate Demand and Supply Models Economic Critique Ken Drake, ECO 372 Macroeconomics
September 10, 2012 Jason Foster Aggregate Demand and Supply Models Economic Critique In the
United States the economy is currently in a recession, although signs are indicating that the
economy is slowly recovering. In an effort to analyze the Unites States economy the
unemployment rate, expectations, consumer income, and interest rates have been evaluated. The
results of these evaluations are included in this report. Unemployment in the United States fell to
8.1% from 8.3% in July. U.S. employers are said to have added 96,000 jobs in July (KSL News,

Just like looking for a good time to buy into a stock, a person needs to look at several months of
data to find a consistent pattern of troughs and peaks in the supply and demand wave, draw a
line to mark out floor and ceiling, and then buy your stocks as the price climbs and sell before it
reaches the top. Expectation can now be based on past events laid out in a reoccurring pattern.
There is still some guesswork involved however, but not like it was in the past. The downward
spiral of the United States economy can be caused by different factors. For example, record high
gas prices and sub prime mortgage loans are tow key contributors. With the United States gas
prices and unemployment rates at an all time high, it is no secret why consumers naturally
spend less money. Consumers are using more money for their gas tanks just to get to work
everyday, and the though of going on vacation or shopping is just a dream now for most. A
higher price level reduces the purchasing power of the public s accumulated savings account
balances (Aggregate demand and aggregate supply, 2012). A higher price level heavily wears out
the purchasing power of such assets, the general public is much poorer and will automatically
reduce its spending. Sub prime mortgage loans were designed to help people with bad credit
purchase a home when they would not qualify. They were also designed to help people who didn t

Singer s Famine, Affluence, and Morality In the Peter Singer s article Famine, Affluence, and
Morality , he discusses the way that people should take moral in their help toward the support of
the Bengal famine crisis. Singer states three obligations that would help the Bengal region through
the means of a wealthy person, and those individuals living life on a day to day basis. In this
paper I will expound on Singer s goal for each obligation, explain the three counter arguments with
Singer s response, define and identify marginal utility as it relates to Singer s arguments, and
compare the ideas of duty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That persons with very low incomes may merit our sympathy is accepted, but sympathy leads to
charity, rather than to the involuntary exploitation of the better off (Narveson, 2004). Singer also
says that people with a maintainable amount of wealth should give more than the X amount asked
for, being that the predicament that some are not able to give or they can give less than the amount
asked for. Another, more serious reason for not giving to famine relief funds is that until there is
effective population control, relieving famine merely postpone starvation (Singer, 1972). The final
and third counter argument is that Singer question exactly how much we should be giving away.
In this counter argument, Singer talks of giving until one reaches marginal utility; or in the case
where suffering would have greatly increased or decreased in his self, if he gave more than one
can afford to give. One should avoid bad things from happening or sacrificing too much to help
those in need. Giving until you reach your marginal utility is only required. Singer believes we
are obliged to give money away until our sacrifice is of comparable moral importance to the
agony of people starving to death (Specter, 1999). This is our duty to do so. An example

History Of Delta Guitar
Blues guitar originated around the 19th century in the deep south of the United States. In the Deep
South, a large black population existed and many of them succumbed to slavery and racial
oppressions. In these hard times, music became a common language between them. The blacks that
were being culturally oppressed expressed their emotions by playing Bluesmusic. One of the
earliest forms of blues was being formed in the Mississippi delta which is known as Delta Blues.
It reflected the oppressive nature of life the blacks had. It displayed short repetitive phrases and
was more percussive than melodic. The delta blues encompasses bottleneck guitar style as it utilizes
tons of sliding techniques. The slides techniques were adopted by later... Show more content on

A prominent figure in this era will be known as Eric Clapton. He displayed incredible technical
precision in his solos and chords progression. During his time in CREAM, he trademarked a
song composed by Robert Johnson called Crossroads .Clapton did not use open tunning or
sliding techniques but instead his electric guitar featured a heavy style of instrumental backing
and soloing, jumping from a major to a minor in his solo and playing it in the offbeat. Clapton s
improvisation was one of the best freestyles blues that existed due to its originality. Clapton
incorporated blues with rock forming a hybrid type of music. He developed the rock guitar
sound making use of the Gibson Les Paul guitar amplified through a Marshall. Clapton
experimented with its sustain feedbacks and vibrato creating a psychedelic effect by playing his
solo with different harmonies by tuning down the treble in a single called I Feel Free . Clapton
also introduced many technological innovations on electric guitar as he played with the foot

JBC s potential segment(s) and strategy
In order to reach these business goals at a time when growth is nonexistent, Jones Blair must take
immediate action and increase their sales team and refocus their sales energies.
Jones Blair is a regional paint manufacturer that has to compete in a mature market (sales growth
are expected to be the general rate of inflation) and also very concentrated, since the seven major
producers account for upwards of 60 percent of sales.
Therefore, in this market context, Jones Blair will need to increase its sales in volume, but keep its

However, as the sales reps have focused on current customers over the last five years the sales
team has added only five new professional accounts. As well, in the areas outside DFW, 70% of
sales are derived from do it yourself painters. As well, the company could consider increasing
their present sales reps, eight, by an additional representative. At present, 70% of sales within
DFW are derived from professional painters. However, the benefit of cutting the prices would not
increase company sales to a point where they could maintain current contribution margin numbers.
Given that the mass merchandisers are presently not pursuing this market source, the Jones Blair
Company would do well to draw upon their superior salesmen and initiate sales from this
resource. Thus resulting only in approximately a 3% increase in customer purchases, from 15%
to 18%. A posed increase of approximately 3% in the DFW area would increase the company tms
brand awareness by 5%, from approximately 25% to 30%. The company tms sales representatives
have a superior reputation with their dealers. In such an instance, increases in sales come with
increases in variable costs related to the product.
Alternative Courses of Action
The market for do it yourself consumers is forecasted to reach US$ 5.74 billion by the year 2003

Gun Ownership In Early America Summary
In the article Gun Ownership in Early America: A Survey of Manuscript Militia Returns by Robert
Churchill, he discusses how gun ownership in the early 18th and 19th centuries was scarce and at
times the armed militias were the only people who had guns at all. It was because of this that the
government made gun ownership exceptional. This is different from today when gun ownership is
everywhere. Due to the high concentration of guns sometimes it is hard to count how many are
sold in the United Statesevery year. To learn that guns, at one time, were almost non existent is
almost hard to believe. In the article, the author talks about Michael Bellesiles a historian who first

Unlike the 18th and 19th centuries, the government today is much against gun ownership. So much
so that they have enacted gun control laws that would take all guns away from American citizens.
Though guns can be dangerous in the wrong hands, Americans have the right to bear arms. To take
gun ownership away would mean destroying the Constitutional right of every American. Instead of
gun control everyone that buys a gun they should undergo an intense back ground check and be
required to attend gun ownership classes to learn how to safely use the weapon. In the article it is
stated that most guns in the 18th and 19th centuries were owned by younger men and boys. This
would suggest that younger men in those centuries were more mature than those of today. Back
then people had to fend for themselves because money was not as prevalent as it is today, so
owning a gun was more of a necessity. Now when younger people possess a fire arm the outcome
is more violent. The damage inflicted by young people with guns in the last decade has been some
of the worst America has ever witnessed. The Sandy Hook shooting being the most recent string of
school related gun violence. In the 18th and 19th centuries, this type of behavior was never

I walk into a dark cave. It feels mysterious and very uncomforting. I am slowly losing sight of my

shockingly freezing water washing over my feet within seconds. I start to run, but eventually the

Imperfect Punishments
Imagine a place where tyrants stand up to their ears in boiling blood, the gluttonous experience

punishments for those who are destined to hell for all eternity. Dante attempts to make the
punishments fit the crimes, but because it is Dante dealing out the tortures and not God, the
punishments will never be perfect because by nature, man is an imperfect creature. Only God is
capable of being above reproach and of metering out a just punishment. While Dante s treatment

which does not seem to be a punishment constant with what other sinners face in hell. Dante
correctly assigned the right punishments to each group of sinners, but he misplaced both groups.
Limbo should be outside of Hell because they did not have the knowledge of either Heaven or Hell.
The Ante Inferno should be the first level of Hell, reserved for those who knew about Heaven and
Hell, choose neither side, and now must face the fact that by their indecision, are bound to suffer in
Hell.
While Dante may have geographically misplaced these two groups of sinners, he did correctly
punish most of the sinners in Hell. For example, the river of blood in which boils everyone
/ Whose violence hurt others (Canto XII 41 42) describes the perfect punishment for those who
were violent while they were alive. The degree of the violence committed also factors into the
punishment. Tyrants who slaughtered many people are completely covered in boiling blood, while
those who were violent against only a few suffer with blood up to their torsos. This is the perfect
punishment because violence is a crime of

b) I think investors consider the risk as a whole rather than by each. Nevertheless, if a big part of a

c) Total risk is made by Diversifiable (company specific) risk and market (non diversifiable) risk.
Unique events to a particular firm cause the diversifiable risk while factors that affect all

diversifiable risk can be reduced by diversifying whereas market risk can not be eliminated.

My Dream Of Becoming An Information Security Essay
As a child, I grew up enjoying mathematics and science; this led to my dream of becoming an

profession because over the past couple of years, the world has become more dependent on
technology, which means that there is more technology that needs to be developed and better
network securitywill need to be implanted to meet the progressing world s standards. By being in
this profession, there will always be job opportunities in small and large companies because
networks, computers, cell phones and many other gadgets are prone to being compromised. For
example, Boeing is a prestigious, global company that is one of the leading manufacturers of cyber

graduates will be able to learn reliable information on what they need to become an information

Prior to graduating, future analysts will need to have knowledge of the profession and how they
will be able to become an information security analyst. Graduates should expect to plan and carry

The Softer Side of Resistance
The Softer Side of Resistance
Early Twentieth Century Italy, like the early Twentieth Century in the United States, was a time of
promise for women s progress. The issues forming the women s rights platform seem basic and,
especially because of our current placement in history, not too radical: the right to divorce,
educational and employment rights, and perhaps most extreme, voting rights. In the early years of
the Twentieth Century(although processes there were different from our concepts of democratic
voting), some of these issues had even been brought to the ballot (Pickering Iazza, Mothers, p.38).

42). True to its totalitarian character, this plan brought the state even further into the peoples
private lives. The Fascist government went as far as passing into law a bachelor tax. All eligible
men aged twenty six to sixty five paid exorbitant taxes if they chose to stay single (De Grazia,
p.69). The party outlawed birth control, held national childbearing contests, created monetary
incentives for having at least seven children, and campaigned for a revision of beauty standards
(De Grazia, ch. 3,4). Pursuing a goal that would mean more confining gender roles, for women and
men alike, Mussolini went all out to get his way.
In accordance with these ideals of womanhood, Mussolini saw to it that women s education was
tailored to their future roles as mothers and keepers of the house. Now, if wealthy enough to be in
school, women were taught, even at the university level, how to keep a home (Pickering Iazzi,
Mothers p. 34).
Mussolini also eliminated the most public display of women s potential political power, the right
to vote. One would assume that from the outset of his rule, the Duce would strongly oppose this
form of liberation for women. But his position wavered on this issue as much as it did in several
other areas. In 1919, he answered in an interview: I am a supporter of

When a business use scenario planning to explore the macro environment regarding to social,
technological, economic and political issues , it will obtain significant achievement
(Ratcliffe,2000). For instance, nowadays ANZ is considered as the best famous bank for the fact of
connection between Australian banks. Additionally, it is also in a well establishment in Asia
market because it has planning to be active in Asia. It is clear that ANZ will be further to obtain
long term sustainable growth and profitability.
Different from scenario planning, forecasting is concerned with what will happen. Vander Heijden
(2005) shows that the scenario planning is designed to get people to ask question whereas the task
of forecasting is giving the answer (p.6). According to Choi (2011), forecast will be suggested by
managers which helps to strengthen the relationship between returns of future profits. It is also
increasing the company s future profitability. This report will argue that when Australian banks
adopt forecasting and scenario planning, they definitely have enjoyed success in Asia in time.

dynamics once the registration is chosen. A decent performance of Baroque music, no matter on a
Baroque or a modern day keyboard, relies very much on the variety of touch to sound interesting. I
would therefore like to discuss some crucial concepts that guides keyboard players on how to
effectively control the touch and attack of the keys with correct posture and movement. Friedrich
Wilhelm Marpurg, a German music critic and composer in the 18th century, wrote that It is true that
there are passages that can be fingered in more than one way. But of all these ways, there is always
one which is more suitable to these passages than any other. One should therefore choose among the
good position. Then, between these different possible positions, one must choose the one that
makes the least movement. This highlights the importance of limited movement in the body and
the arm at that period of time, opposing the modern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact that the black notes on the pedal board being nearer to the organ bench than it is
nowadays , playing any notes with the heel was difficult to control and uncomfortable, which will
cause the music created to be unstable. Therefore, all of the pedal notes are generally played with
toes only. As mentioned previously, notes that are next to each other can be played with the same
finger to create natural articulation, the same principal applies with playing with the toe of one
foot only. Compared to organs built recently, it is easier to pedal historical organs with toe only
because the pedals are not only shorter in length but they also have higher benches which makes

You ARE Your Credit Score
You ARE your Credit Score
We at Homepath educate our clients on maintaining a good credit score. Keeping your credit
score as high as possible is the primary factor of your financial health and well being. Whether you
want to go in on a Williamsburg co op or you ve decided to pack up your life as a Hedgefunder and
go back to grad school for mad science training, you re going to need a mountain of money from a
lender or two to take care of the bills, and your credit score better be looking as good as your
dreams.
That being said:
PAY YOUR BILLS
Not just for your mobile phone or cable TV addiction, either. Let s say you ve kept your score in
the 700 s since training wheels, and now you have to choose between paying the bank that
mortgaged your first apartment, where you live, or spending a weekend in Vegas. Well, pay the
bank their due, and go backpacking instead. Because the big credit reporting agencies don t take
late payments lightly. They look at it like you re having serious financial problems, because in
their book paying off your mortgage should be a top priority.
IT MATTERS BECAUSE
Let s get back to your credit score, which is everything. You want to get a nice job? They ll
probably check your credit score. You want to buy that black Jag for your 30th birthday? Then
you better have kept up with the mortgage, because shirkers don t drive Jaguars. If you re happy
with your 99 Forester, great, but if you re hoping to move beyond Compact Disc technology,

The Call Of Isaiah
The introduction of this passage in Isaiah the six chapter begins by giving the reader an account
of what is known as the the call of Isaiah . We also can see that Isaiah is more than just a prophet,
but he is a visionary, leader, priest, and a messenger of things to come. Not much about Isaiah is
known except the names of his father, and last two sons. We also see in Scripture, according to
Isaiah8, that he is married, and his wife is a prophetess, but her name isn t mentioned in
Scripture. There has never been a vision in scripture so clear that depicts God as sitting on a
throne . Yet the imaginative details of Isaiah s vision opens the door for the reader allowing him

For years the king had lived in alienation and separation, under divine displeasure (2Ki. 15:5; 2Ch.
26:16ff.), and as his death approached he remained, to the human eye, uncleansed. Thus, Uzziah, as
the darkness of death closed in upon him, was symbolic of Isaiah s view of the nation, its plight
and its problems.
Another question that arises during the reading of this narrative is, what is the tension between the
prophetic office and the political position? Again, as stated before, this is unusual behavior for a
prophet to make mention during the time of his call. I can understand that Isaiah is possibly
standing in the office of priest during this time but how does this transitional calling influence the
people around and the culture of the social climate. In looking into the later parts of the vision, it
could be possible that the position of God sitting on a throne is a revelation that mirrors God being
identified as Lord and moving Isaiah from one office of responsibility to the next.
Next Isaiah gives a picture description of the beginning part of the vision. He references God
sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and his train feeling the Temple . This for some scholars has
given implication that Isaiah is present in the Temple during the time of the vision, thus suggesting
that he is also a priest during the time of his call. But the divine was not present alone in this
experience. Isaiah also mentions the presence and the attendance of

How Did Charles Darwin Impact Society
Gerzee Blalock

Charles Darwin
Many people get involved in negative aspects in life. Nowadays, it is all about violence and
robberies. To some people, the world is seen as a bad place to be because of all the negative
minded people and the impact they leave on others. Fortunately, not all people are negative
minded; the world has good people who do positive things to impact the world. In fact, Charles
Darwin is a prime example of a good person who made a positive impact on the world. Darwin
signed to become a naturalist, came up with the theory of evolution, and he also wrote a book,
Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection explaining his life s work. It is important that
people know and understand the importance of Darwin and the theory of Evolution and Natural
Selection. Darwin was an English naturalist. According to an article, Darwin established that all
species of life have descended over time from common ancestors, and proposed the scientific
theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural
selection, in which the struggle for existence has a similar effect to the artificial selection involved
in selective breeding. Darwin s theory of Evolution and Natural Selection shows how humans
developed from one stage to the next. According to the article Darwin s Theory of Evolution: The
Origin of Species by Parmentier, Romain and Probert, Carly, Darwin came to the

The Gynamic Character In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
William H. Macy is well known for his role as Frank Gallagher in the hit TV show Shameless.
From the beginning, we learn that Frank, who is a father of six, is extremely narrow minded and
selfish. He has a hard time understanding his children s thoughts and feelings, which is unusual for
the average father. Like Frank, the narrator in Raymond Carvers short story Cathedral demonstrates
his inability to understand others thoughts and emotions because of his own narrow minded, selfish
thoughts and actions. This is portrayed throughout the beginning of the story. First, we are shown
his prejudicial thoughts towards the blind man simply because he is blind. He then expresses his
selfishness as well as a hint of jealousy when he comments on the relationship between the blind
man and his wife, while displaying an overall negative attitude about the man s visit. Despite his
negative characterization, much like many other intriguing dynamic characters, the narrator comes
realize his own blindness towards the end of the story. This encourages him to be more self aware,
as well as sympathetic to others and the world around him.
Raymond Carver chose to make the narrator a dynamic character to successfully illustrate how
many people, at some point in their life, will realize a certain, unsettling conflict they have within
themselves and learn from it. The narrator being a dynamic character, symbolizes those members in
today s society. In the story, the narrator realizes his internal conflict when despite the image of a
cathedral being on the TV right in front of him, he cannot verbally explain what it is. This creates
an unsettling feeling within the narrator. This then helps him to later realize his own shallow nature
and, in a sense, how he himself is blind . Many people experience this unsettledness within
themselves at some point throughout their life. Once they see these issues within themselves, and
overcome their conflict, they grow as a person, just as the narrator demonstrates throughout the
story.
From the start, author Raymond Carver, expresses the narrator s selfishness by his inability to
understand others thoughts and feelings. This is a major factor indicating his overall blindness. In
the beginning of

Analysis Of As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner
Before you were born, there came a time where your parents had to make a decision regarding
what they were going to name you. It was a lot of pressure knowing that this name would be one
that people knew you by, and it would be your title for the rest of your life. They could have
chosen a name that had a special ring to it, one that reminded them of something in the past. They
could ve named you after an important family member as a way to honor them. Perhaps they could
ve named you because there was a deeper meaning behind the letters. The father of the novelAs I
Lay Dying, William Faulkner, had the same perspectives as your parents when choosing a name to
represent each character: Addie, Anse, Darl, Jewel, Cash, Dewey Dell, and Vardaman. The names
Faulkner uses to represent his characters and unravel a deeper understanding than just print on the
paper, but rather the indication of qualities (Foster 105) and the truth behind who one really is. Let
s start out with the family name Bundren. If you switch a few letters around, readers often make the
connection that it sounds like burden . The Bundren bunch face many obstacles throughout their
journey through the Mississippi countryside. The burden of poverty strikes the family resulting in
little funds to keep the family upright. The youngest son, Vardaman, makes this realization when
he is in town looking in a shop window full of toys and recognizes rural boys like himself can t
have such things. Along with

Ethical, Moral And Moral Theory
The ethical reflections taught in this course, have generated awareness in to our own ethical
reasoning allowing us to focus morality on our own lives. The ethical pluralism that is referred to
by the title of our text helps to examine the various aspects of our own ethical moral theory. Ethical
moral theory dominates our lives on a daily basis. Determining actions we consider being right or
wrong depending on the availability of the situation. But, as situations vary, so does the reasoning
behind activities. Although each individual has his/her own mindset and beliefs, the ethical moral
standards which create the baseline of our own morality, differs with our individual teachings.
The pluralistic approach conveyed through Hinman s text, describes various viewpoints of moral
theory. Although these theories change with the dependence of the individual, there are basic
principles that are accompanied by all. Many of these behaviors, although innocent at times, may
have lasting effects on the moral righteousness in our culture. In culture, there are regular questions
focusing the topic of judgement with ethical relativism, as discussed in Hinman s text.
Judgement according to the Webster s Dictionary is the ability to make considered decisions or
come to sensible conclusions. For the application of our own reflection, this definition will work.
The theory of ethical relativism illustrates judgement of our own ethical or moral values may be
judged by others who differ in

The Effect of Fast Track Care on Length of Stay in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery
Alisa Ruffner, BSN
Fall 2014
University of Tennessee Health Science Center: College of Nursing
NSG 819: Evaluation of Practice
Introduction Cardiac surgery is among the most frequently performed surgical procedures in the
United States. According to the American Heart Association, over 575,000 open heart surgeries
were performed in 2005. Until relatively recently, sedation and prolonged ventilatory support
through the first twelve to eighteen hours post operatively have been standard. This allowed
adequate time for the patient s hemodynamic, respiratory and coagulation physiological ... Show

How does fast track care compare to conventional care after cardiac surgery?
Methods
An electronic review of literature was conducted through PubMed, Clinicalkey, and MEDLINE
OVID databases. Key words and phrases searched included fast track , cardiac surgery , length of
stay , intensive care unit , and protocols . The evidence in the articles were evaluated and
examined in the attached table. The evidence was also categorized for quality using the Grade
model rating from A to D.
Findings
The most significant publication found involving fast track care was a Cochrane review entitled
Fast track cardiac care for adult cardiac surgical patients . This review examined 25 trials and
included over 4,000 patients. The trails included in this review were randomized control trials that
compared the use of low dose opioid based general anesthesia versus high dose opioid based general
anesthesia, and early extubation using time directed protocols versus usual care for extubation
(Zhu, Lee, Chee, 2012). This review examined several outcomes including mortality, post operative
complications, time to extubation, ICU length of stay, hospital length of stay, and inpatient costs.
The authors concluded, based on these studies, that fast track care was safe for patients undergoing
low to moderate risk cardiac surgery. The
combination of low dose opioid anesthesia combined with a rapid extubation protocol post
operatively is shown to decrease the time on

Examples Of Rambling Autobiography
Rambling Autobiography Nicholas Hill My only memory of first grade is learning cursive and
having far worse handwriting than other classmates. Probably my favorite memory from
elementary school is recess and playing with friends. Middle school came around and was
probably the first time I was really nervous to go to school, but by the end I realized how fun it
was and all the trouble I got into. Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside
climbing trees. Every time fall came around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves,
carving pumpkins and halloween. In 8th grade I started skiing which is my favorite winter
hobby. The first time I went on a airplane was last year(2016) when we went to Florida then took
a cruise to the Bahamas. I m hate spiders and snakes especially big snakes and spiders. One of
my favorite memories as a child is when went on a short vacation in New Hampshire and stayed
in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made for the best sleep ever. Another time I
went to New Hampshire was with my Aunt and Uncle and we stayed in a house they own near
Hampton Beach, which was the first time I ever went to a big beach. In 6th grade my family
and my friends family went to the Damariscotta Lake State Park almost every day and had
barbecue chicken on the regular, along with hamburgers and hotdogs. We also went to the
majority of state parks in Maine because we got a state park pass book and there is a challenge in it
to get a stamp

Nathanial Meeker Massacre Analysis
The Meeker Massacre of 1879, though viewed as a single violent altercation between Indian
Agent Nathanial Meeker and the Utes of Colorado, presents a wider narrative of understanding
how altercations over land reflect deeper value systems regarding environments. The changing
nature of the land on which the Ute Reservation resided further complicated U.S. Ute relations. In
looking at the events leading up to and following the Massacre, historians can better understand
what the Utes and federal government were looking for, and why it was so difficult to agree upon
what they had found. Historians can also realize how the conflict may have not been avoided even
with other considered factors. The Ute wars were not just about the Utes and agents... Show more

  • 2. Freakonomics Chapter 1 Summary Freakonomics discusses odd questions that relate together. These were weird to consider at first. After reading the text and seeing what the relationships these odd questions have in common, it is very interesting. Unfortunately, most of the practices that the chapters refer to are not how God intended for us to behave and live. In the first Chapter of Freakonomics, it discusses what Schoolteachers and Sumo Wrestlers have in common. The thing that they have in common is cheating. I never knew that sumo wrestlers could cheat. I guess they could if they wanted to throw a win. Shocking though, is that is exactly what they do. They lose on purpose. They lie. One of the very Ten Commandments that we are to follow every day states that we are not to lie. Ironically enough, so do some schoolteachers cheat to have their teaching abilities look a lot better. They change the grades that their students get on tests to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I couldn t figure it out, but the answer is as simple as having knowledge of information that others do not know. Real Estate agents can be schemers when it comes to the knowledge of the real estate market. They have a pretty good idea of how much a house will be worth. They will try to talk clients into selling their houses at a lower price in order to make money quicker by having a quicker turnaround time. The findings even showed that agents would keep their house on the market of an average of 3 weeks longer than a non real estate agents house (Levitt Dubner, 2005). Real estate agents will also make a house sound better by specific terms that they use when listing it. They try to make it sound better than it is, but other real estate agents know what they mean. The consumers and sellers do not know. This is deceiving and not how God wants people to behave when they are supposed to be helping others. Just as 1 Corinthians 6:8 9 ... Each line has abbreviated the following names: Shane (SHA), Vivian (VIV), Michael (MIC), and Nancy (NAN). The focus here is between lines 33 through 55. Line 39 has Shane turn his body followed with the statement, all of a sudden. Shane and Michael then engage in a mutual eye gaze. This suggest Shane wants to grab the attention of Michael, that he is the primary recipient, and the mutuality of the gaze suggest Michael is attentive to Shane s story. When Shane continues by saying, dis guy go EH, followed by an imitation of the sound of the car s horn and the iconic gesture of one pressing down on the horn, the eye gaze from Michael is broken and shifted ... American Journal of Trial Advocacy, vol. 40, no. 1, pp. 103 129. This article by Brooke Boucek includes useful information about the public reporting system of universities and how the federal laws lead administrations to under report sexual assaults. Boucek begins the article by describing the current Title IX laws for colleges and explaining other legal procedures and acts relating to sexual assault on campuses. The article then includes the perspectives of those accused of rape and how one college decision permanently affected their life; Boucek includes multiple stories and accounts and thus presents ... As an anthropology professor at Marquette University, Semeena Mulla has the qualifications to discuss forensics, but she connects her background to the cases of sexual assault victims. Mulla investigates the methods nurses use to collect and preserve evidence while simultaneously discussing the role of assault victims as patients; she argues that incorporating care and forensic investigation with one another allows victims to understand their own situations. Another point the author makes is the importance of caring for the victim during a collection of evidence rather than committing a secondary rape. Mulla explains the importance of care in terms of medicine and forensics, a different approach than my other sources. Still, her explanation of the victim s role as an active member of the medical, investigative, and forensic processes provides refreshing insight on making the victim feel represented. The author has the credentials for discussing forensics, so her connection of this science to the psychology of the patient may extend beyond her area of expertise, but she effectively delivers her ... • 5. Burma Shave Compare And Contrast I found these two companies are historically different from one another in such big ways. The Burma Shave Co. advertising tactics were innovative for their time. In fact, so much so that they enjoyed a thirty seven year run. They initially started out with very slow sales. Then the founding members took a few hundred dollars and bought some wood and poles and created their signs. A series of short poems broken down in to one liners that were spread out over short distances along the highways of America. A part form theses signs they had very little if any ad space in media like magazines and newspapers. One short poem along the highway read Our fortune / Is your / Shaven face / It s our best / Advertising space / Burma Shave . That short roadside ad really sums up Burma Shave s ad campaign. They wanted to connect with as many buyers as possible for the cheapest pricepossible. Advertising along America s most traveled highways of the time was the best most efficient way to do so. In fact the many they saved on marketingmost likely made it possible to do product promotions like large give a ways. One Burma Shave... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Langston Hughes wrote poetry from a 1920 s era point of view. Mos Def wrote Hip Hop that portrays what is happening now in the black culture. Although from different times, both writers still had to deal with the issues of being black in America. Writers that wrote poetry during the Harlem Renaissancewanted to be treated equally and fairly. They also wanted to show the world that they were educated and want to be taken seriously. Mos Def song Hip Hop looks at how hip hop has effected the African Americansociety as a whole. Mos Def s Hip Hop looks at the road blacks has taken to where blacks are today. Bodhisattvas are knowledgeable characters who defer their sanctification to support all sentient individuals (Rambelli, 207). Unlike other Buddha statues the Bodhisattva is an invented character, not a replica of an exact character to Buddha. Bodhisattvas have several of those attributes of Christian benefactors (Gresham and Dunham, 400). They are sympathetic characters who assist congregants. Contrary to saints; nonetheless, they are not affiliated with historical individuals, hagiographies, or suffering. • 9. Industrialization Vs Industrialization Industrialization had better effects on men and women of the upper and middle classes, than with the men and women of the working classes. Industrialization began in Europe, at the time there was a large rise in population. The population of London grew from 750,000 to 9 million in just two years (11/9). Due to the large growth in population, people were forced to develop new ideas such as new productions of energy and multiple story buildings. The number of factories grew exponentially and as a result, the massive extraction of nonrenewable raw materials to feed and to fuel industrial machinery...altered the landscape in many places (Strayer, 568). The production of factories and work created migration to urban areas, during this time middle class people began needing servants. People of the upper class would have anywhere from three to four clothing changes per day, and it was typical for their staff to consist of forty to one hundred people. Considering the size of the staff, upper classhousing had to be large enough for the staff and family to live in, and not see each other (11/9). This was a very different way of living from those in the working class. Living conditions were better for those in the upper and middle classes than those in the working class, and some ideas presented in the age of Enlightenment carried over into the Industrial Revolution. During the time of the Industrialization, the central value of the middle class culture was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Problem Of Nuclear Family Imagine being on the cusp of adulthood during the 1950s when the term nuclear was becoming more common in regards to the matter of families. The idea of that a nuclear family, a family consisting of a man, his wife, and their children under one roof, is the only type of family that should exist was often shoved into the faces of young Americans. The nuclear familyhad been around for centuries, only truly developing the title of nuclear in the early twentieth century. It s the concept that any family that doesn t fit the structure laid down by the idea isn t a family that should be welcomed into society. During the 1950s, this took a step farther. It was expected for someone to marry once they reached a certain age and many people considered something to be wrong with someone if they weren t. . Though it is of note that not even before the 1950s had passed, changes had already begun. Its best for families to move out of the narrow minded structure it had before that isolated and secluded several groups. The positive changes show up in many different forms over the years, whether in movements, expansions of personal freedoms and choices, and/or in the most basic extension of open mindedness in new generations. Movements of various strengths and sizes funneled into a dynamic shift of responsibilities in relationships. Back in the 1950s example, it was commonplace for the father to work while the wife took care of the house and children. Though early in the 1960s, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Empirical Formula Of Zinc Iodide Lab Report Introduction: The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the empirical formula of zinc iodide, and in addition, validate the law of conservation of mass by precisely determining the quantities of reactants and products. Empirical formula is the simplest type of chemical formula. The simplest ratio of the number of atoms of each element in the compound is determined by the empirical formal of a compound. Typically the ratio provided by the empirical formula contains whole numbers. On the other hand, there are molecular formulas in which gives the definite number of atoms of the element. Glucose (sugar) has a molecular formula of C6H12O6 and an empirical formula of CH2 O. Finding the mass of each of the elements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reaction was then completed and the flask was removed from the hot plate using tongs, the aluminum foil used to cover the top of the flask was removed. There has been debate over the years if Mexico can be considered as a Liberal Democracy. One can believe that Mexico can be considered liberal democracy because their people are not forbidden or restrained from doing many things. Expectation can now be based on past events laid out in a reoccurring pattern. There is still some guesswork involved however, but not like it was in the past. The downward spiral of the United States economy can be caused by different factors. For example, record high gas prices and sub prime mortgage loans are tow key contributors. Consumers are using more money for their gas tanks just to get to work everyday, and the though of going on vacation or shopping is just a dream now for most. Another, more serious reason for not giving to famine relief funds is that until there is effective population control, relieving famine merely postpone starvation (Singer, 1972). The final and third counter argument is that Singer question exactly how much we should be giving away. In this counter argument, Singer talks of giving until one reaches marginal utility; or in the case where suffering would have greatly increased or decreased in his self, if he gave more than one can afford to give. One should avoid bad things from happening or sacrificing too much to help those in need. Giving until you reach your marginal utility is only required. The issues forming the women s rights platform seem basic and, especially because of our current placement in history, not too radical: the right to divorce, educational and employment rights, and perhaps most extreme, voting rights. In the early years of the Twentieth Century(although processes there were different from our concepts of democratic voting), some of these issues had even been brought to the ballot (Pickering Iazza, Mothers, p.38). And contrary to popular perception, during the early years of Mussolini s rule (which lasted from 1922 1943), public support for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 42). True to its totalitarian character, this plan brought the state even further into the peoples private lives. The Fascist government went as far as passing into law a bachelor tax. All eligible men aged twenty six to sixty five paid exorbitant taxes if they chose to stay single (De Grazia, p.69). The party outlawed birth control, held national childbearing contests, created monetary incentives for having at least seven children, and campaigned for a revision of beauty standards (De Grazia, ch. 3,4). Pursuing a goal that would mean more confining gender roles, for women and men alike, Mussolini went all out to get his way. In accordance with these ideals of womanhood, Mussolini saw to it that women s education was tailored to their future roles as mothers and keepers of the house. Now, if wealthy enough to be in school, women were taught, even at the university level, how to keep a home (Pickering Iazzi, Mothers p. 34). Mussolini also eliminated the most public display of women s potential political power, the right to vote. One would assume that from the outset of his rule, the Duce would strongly oppose this form of liberation for women. But his position wavered on this issue as much as it did in several other areas. In 1919, he answered in an interview: I am a supporter of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When a business use scenario planning to explore the macro environment regarding to social, technological, economic and political issues , it will obtain significant achievement (Ratcliffe,2000). For instance, nowadays ANZ is considered as the best famous bank for the fact of connection between Australian banks. Additionally, it is also in a well establishment in Asia market because it has planning to be active in Asia. It is clear that ANZ will be further to obtain long term sustainable growth and profitability. Different from scenario planning, forecasting is concerned with what will happen. • 41. Baroque Music Essay Due to the fact that Baroque keyboards generally lack the ability to make crescendos and diminuendos, music played on these instruments sound very boring and straight forward unless elements are added to the performance. For organ and harpsichord, the player cannot change dynamics once the registration is chosen. A decent performance of Baroque music, no matter on a Baroque or a modern day keyboard, relies very much on the variety of touch to sound interesting. I would therefore like to discuss some crucial concepts that guides keyboard players on how to effectively control the touch and attack of the keys with correct posture and movement. Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg, a German music critic and composer in the 18th century, wrote that It is true that there are passages that can be fingered in more than one way. But of all these ways, there is always one which is more suitable to these passages than any other. One should therefore choose among the good position. Then, between these different possible positions, one must choose the one that makes the least movement. This highlights the importance of limited movement in the body and the arm at that period of time, opposing the modern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned previously, notes that are next to each other can be played with the same finger to create natural articulation, the same principal applies with playing with the toe of one foot only. • 43. The Call Of Isaiah The introduction of this passage in Isaiah the six chapter begins by giving the reader an account of what is known as the the call of Isaiah . We also can see that Isaiah is more than just a prophet, but he is a visionary, leader, priest, and a messenger of things to come. Not much about Isaiah is known except the names of his father, and last two sons. We also see in Scripture, according to Isaiah8, that he is married, and his wife is a prophetess, but her name isn t mentioned in Scripture. There has never been a vision in scripture so clear that depicts God as sitting on a throne . Yet the imaginative details of Isaiah s vision opens the door for the reader allowing him /her to see an active God, instead of one who just sits at a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For years the king had lived in alienation and separation, under divine displeasure (2Ki. 15:5; 2Ch. 26:16ff.), and as his death approached he remained, to the human eye, uncleansed. Thus, Uzziah, as the darkness of death closed in upon him, was symbolic of Isaiah s view of the nation, its plight and its problems. Another question that arises during the reading of this narrative is, what is the tension between the prophetic office and the political position? Again, as stated before, this is unusual behavior for a prophet to make mention during the time of his call. I can understand that Isaiah is possibly standing in the office of priest during this time but how does this transitional calling influence the people around and the culture of the social climate. In looking into the later parts of the vision, it could be possible that the position of God sitting on a throne is a revelation that mirrors God being identified as Lord and moving Isaiah from one office of responsibility to the next. Next Isaiah gives a picture description of the beginning part of the vision. He references God sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and his train feeling the Temple . This for some scholars has given implication that Isaiah is present in the Temple during the time of the vision, thus suggesting that he is also a priest during the time of his call. But the divine was not present alone in this experience. Isaiah also mentions the presence and the attendance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. How Did Charles Darwin Impact Society Gerzee Blalock Ms.Walker Literature and Composition 13 December 2017 Charles Darwin Many people get involved in negative aspects in life. Nowadays, it is all about violence and robberies. To some people, the world is seen as a bad place to be because of all the negative minded people and the impact they leave on others. Fortunately, not all people are negative minded; the world has good people who do positive things to impact the world. In fact, Charles Darwin is a prime example of a good person who made a positive impact on the world. Darwin signed to become a naturalist, came up with the theory of evolution, and he also wrote a book, Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection explaining his life s work. It is important that people know and understand the importance of Darwin and the theory of Evolution and Natural Selection. Darwin was an English naturalist. According to an article, Darwin established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors, and proposed the scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection, in which the struggle for existence has a similar effect to the artificial selection involved in selective breeding. Darwin s theory of Evolution and Natural Selection shows how humans developed from one stage to the next. According to the article Darwin s Theory of Evolution: The Origin of Species by Parmentier, Romain and Probert, Carly, Darwin came to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Gynamic Character In Raymond Carver s Cathedral William H. Macy is well known for his role as Frank Gallagher in the hit TV show Shameless. From the beginning, we learn that Frank, who is a father of six, is extremely narrow minded and selfish. He has a hard time understanding his children s thoughts and feelings, which is unusual for the average father. Like Frank, the narrator in Raymond Carvers short story Cathedral demonstrates his inability to understand others thoughts and emotions because of his own narrow minded, selfish thoughts and actions. This is portrayed throughout the beginning of the story. First, we are shown his prejudicial thoughts towards the blind man simply because he is blind. He then expresses his selfishness as well as a hint of jealousy when he comments on the relationship between the blind man and his wife, while displaying an overall negative attitude about the man s visit. Despite his negative characterization, much like many other intriguing dynamic characters, the narrator comes realize his own blindness towards the end of the story. This encourages him to be more self aware, as well as sympathetic to others and the world around him. Raymond Carver chose to make the narrator a dynamic character to successfully illustrate how many people, at some point in their life, will realize a certain, unsettling conflict they have within themselves and learn from it. The narrator being a dynamic character, symbolizes those members in today s society. In the story, the narrator realizes his internal conflict when despite the image of a cathedral being on the TV right in front of him, he cannot verbally explain what it is. This creates an unsettling feeling within the narrator. This then helps him to later realize his own shallow nature and, in a sense, how he himself is blind . Many people experience this unsettledness within themselves at some point throughout their life. Once they see these issues within themselves, and overcome their conflict, they grow as a person, just as the narrator demonstrates throughout the story. From the start, author Raymond Carver, expresses the narrator s selfishness by his inability to understand others thoughts and feelings. This is a major factor indicating his overall blindness. In the beginning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Analysis Of As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner Before you were born, there came a time where your parents had to make a decision regarding what they were going to name you. It was a lot of pressure knowing that this name would be one that people knew you by, and it would be your title for the rest of your life. They could have chosen a name that had a special ring to it, one that reminded them of something in the past. They could ve named you after an important family member as a way to honor them. Perhaps they could ve named you because there was a deeper meaning behind the letters. The father of the novelAs I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, had the same perspectives as your parents when choosing a name to represent each character: Addie, Anse, Darl, Jewel, Cash, Dewey Dell, and Vardaman. The names Faulkner uses to represent his characters and unravel a deeper understanding than just print on the paper, but rather the indication of qualities (Foster 105) and the truth behind who one really is. Let s start out with the family name Bundren. If you switch a few letters around, readers often make the connection that it sounds like burden . The Bundren bunch face many obstacles throughout their journey through the Mississippi countryside. The burden of poverty strikes the family resulting in little funds to keep the family upright. The youngest son, Vardaman, makes this realization when he is in town looking in a shop window full of toys and recognizes rural boys like himself can t have such things. Along with ... The ethical pluralism that is referred to by the title of our text helps to examine the various aspects of our own ethical moral theory. Ethical moral theory dominates our lives on a daily basis. Determining actions we consider being right or wrong depending on the availability of the situation. But, as situations vary, so does the reasoning behind activities. Although each individual has his/her own mindset and beliefs, the ethical moral standards which create the baseline of our own morality, differs with our individual teachings. The pluralistic approach conveyed through Hinman s text, describes various viewpoints of moral theory. Although these theories change with the dependence of the individual, there are basic principles that are accompanied by all. Many of these behaviors, although innocent at times, may have lasting effects on the moral righteousness in our culture. In culture, there are regular questions focusing the topic of judgement with ethical relativism, as discussed in Hinman s text. Judgement according to the Webster s Dictionary is the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions. For the application of our own reflection, this definition will work. The theory of ethical relativism illustrates judgement of our own ethical or moral values may be judged by others who differ in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Key words and phrases searched included fast track , cardiac surgery , length of stay , intensive care unit , and protocols . The evidence in the articles were evaluated and examined in the attached table. The evidence was also categorized for quality using the Grade model rating from A to D. Findings The most significant publication found involving fast track care was a Cochrane review entitled Fast track cardiac care for adult cardiac surgical patients . This review examined 25 trials and included over 4,000 patients. The trails included in this review were randomized control trials that compared the use of low dose opioid based general anesthesia versus high dose opioid based general anesthesia, and early extubation using time directed protocols versus usual care for extubation (Zhu, Lee, Chee, 2012). This review examined several outcomes including mortality, post operative complications, time to extubation, ICU length of stay, hospital length of stay, and inpatient costs. The authors concluded, based on these studies, that fast track care was safe for patients undergoing low to moderate risk cardiac surgery. The combination of low dose opioid anesthesia combined with a rapid extubation protocol post operatively is shown to decrease the time on

Middle school came around and was probably the first time I was really nervous to go to school, but by the end I realized how fun it was and all the trouble I got into. Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside climbing trees. Every time fall came around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves, carving pumpkins and halloween. In 8th grade I started skiing which is my favorite winter hobby. The first time I went on a airplane was last year(2016) when we went to Florida then took a cruise to the Bahamas. One of my favorite memories as a child is when went on a short vacation in New Hampshire and stayed in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made for the best sleep ever. Another time I went to New Hampshire was with my Aunt and Uncle and we stayed in a house they own near Hampton Beach, which was the first time I ever went to a big beach. In 6th grade my family and my friends family went to the Damariscotta Lake State Park almost every day and had barbecue chicken on the regular, along with hamburgers and hotdogs.
