Who Is Meursault s Irony In Albert Camus The Outsider
Albert Camus novel The Stranger follows the life of M. Meursault, a sales clerk in 1940 s Algiers,
from the death of his mother to his execution. Meursault, throughout the novel, embodies Camus s
absurdist philosophies: he disregards emotion, speaks his mind, and seems apathetic about his life.
Meursault s apathy is unusual, and thus, according to the incongruity theory of humor, is funny for
most readers. As the theory states, however, Meursault s apathy is only funny to the reader that does
not expect it, and thus the humor in the book only applies to a sect of the readers. Yet the themes of
rejection and hopelessness in the book appeal to all readers and diminish the humor in the novel.

While waiting for his trial, a chaplain shoves a cross in Meursault s face and asks Do you know what
this is? (68) Meursault asserts his atheism and thus rejects religion. The humor in this scene stems
both from Meursault s character and the chaplain s conviction to convert Meursault. First, Meursault is
easily distracted and his comments are unexpected, and, following the incongruity theory, are funny.
While the chaplain is yelling at Meursault, Meursault says [it was] hard to follow [the chaplain s]
reasoning because it was hot and big flies kept landing on my face. (68) Second, the chaplain is
determined to reveal Meursault s [belief] in God ; thus, Meursault s continual rejection of the God,
according to the relief theory, is funny (69). The crucifix, in the scene, symbolizes more than
christianity: it represents the afterlife and the search for a higher being, values that are deeply
ingrained in society. Thus, Meursault s rejection of the crucifix, which aligns well with Camus
absurdism, serves as a shunning of hope for a better life in the moment and an afterlife. In his essay,
The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus exemplifies his point from The Stranger by saying that the whole being
is exerted toward accomplishing nothing. (1) The hopelessness and meaningless nature that both The
Myth of Sisyphus and The Stranger identify cannot, and does not, make for comic or even humorous
material; the big philosophical questions

Role Of Fate In The Odyssey
When determining life choices our subconscious directs ous to our fate. No matter what decisions you
make the outcome will always be the same because it s a future that was destined to be for you. You
can alter how things are expected to be by our own intentions on wanting to be different, but in a way
it all comes back to what was already meant to happen. In order to be able to configure our own path
we have to leave behind old habits of accusing other individuals for existing sadness or errors that we
make in life, we are compelled to recognize the standpoint that all things are on account of our own
control. In The Odyssey of Homer all that happens, happens by fate because of their unwillingness of
wanting to accept the past.

Democracies are more likely to win “Total Wars” than...
The term total war has been attributed to a small number of conflicts. The term was originally coined
by the German military officer Erich Ludendorff in his book The Total War . Previous to this the
renowned military theorists Carl von Clausewitz and Antoine Henri Jomini both touched on the raw
principles of total war , but failing to ever recognise the term Ludendorff went on to fashion. It was
not until the 1950s that the term re emerged to describe the nature of the conflict during the First and
Second World Wars, whilst a number of wars previous to this have characteristics of total wars , the
primitive state of national economies and refusal to fully mobilise the economy purely for war can
explain why these conflicts were more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of violence to repress and monitor was a common theme used by dictators to control their
peoples. This was uncommon in democracies, for example the British Prime Minister Winston
Churchill did not have his own personal guard, answerable only to himself; it was Churchill who was
scrutinized by the people, the reverse of the situation pertaining in both Germany and the Soviet
Union. Totalitarianism endangers the stability of a nation as there will be growing internal unrest due
to the excesses of terrorism, the denial of rights and the inability of large segments of the population to
participate in public affairs . It was these basic democratic principles which were absent throughout
the totalitarian regimes of the 20th Century; as a single man s ideology was allowed to develop
unrestricted, with little input from either a strong government or the general public.
In the autocratic governments of wartime Europe the chain of command was rigidly maintained from
the top down, unlike democracies where the chain was more susceptible to variation. The effects of
the totalitarian administrative structure manifest themselves in subordinates inability to question
orders and policies which leads to further disregard for the negative consequences of such commands.
A fine example of this would be German high command s inability to make intuitive judgements
without the Fuhrer s expressed permission, on the day of

Charles Dickens Biography Essay
Charles Dickens, the son of John and Elizabeth Dickens, was born in Landport on 7th February 1812.
John Dickens worked as a clerk at the Navy pay office in Portsmouth. He later found work in
Chatham and Charles, the second of seven children, went to the local school.
John Dickens found it difficult to provide for his growing family on his meager income. In 1822 the
family moved to Camden Town in London. John Dickens debts had become so severe that all the
household goods were sold. Still unable to satisfy his creditors, John Dickens was arrested and sent to
Marshalsea Prison.
Charles, now aged twelve, found work at Warren s Blacking Factory, where he was paid six shillings a
week wrapping shoe black bottles. Six months after being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike most radical newspapers such as the Poor Man s Guardian and The Gauntlet, the True Sun did
pay the 4d. stamp duty.
Despite having to charge the heavy tax imposed on newspapers, the True Sun sold 30,000 copies a
day. In his articles, Dickens used his considerable knowledge of what went on in the House of
Commons to help promote the cause of parliamentary reform. Charles Dickens was pleased when
Parliament eventually agreed to pass the 1832 Reform Act, however, like most radicals, he thought it
did not go far enough. The new reformed House of Commons passed a series of new measures
including a reduction in newspaper tax from 4d. to 1d. As a result, the circulation of the True Sun
increased to over 60,000.
In 1833 Dickens had his first story published in the Monthly Magazine. Using the pen name of Boz ,
Dickens also began contributing short stories to the Morning Chronicle and the Evening Chronicle.
These stories were so popular that they were collected together and published as a book entitled
Sketches by Boz (1836).
The publisher, William Hall, now commissioned Dickens to write The Pickwick Papers in twenty
monthly installments. This was followed by Oliver Twist, published in Bentley s Miscellany (1837 38)
and Nicholas Nickleby (1838 39), also published monthly. Dickens was now the most popular writer
in Britain and over the next few years he wrote a series of popular

Compare And Contrast American Football Vs Rugby
Third Draft American Football vs Rugby.
Patriots, Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, ever heard of any of these teams? Chances are you have and
probably the Super Bowl as well. All of these teams and the Super Bowl itself are part of the NFL or
National Football League, which if you haven t heard of before is a well run organization that
specializes in running a national league for American Football inside the United States. My thesis ·
that American Football is the better sport financially as its organized significantly better an ugly and
therefore its more successful thanks to financial funding and backup. American Football is
undoubtedly the most watched sport in the US racking up over 16.5 million views on average in the
2016 NFL season. This was a substantial drop from 2015s 17.9 million views but still enough to rank
it the most watched show in the United States and the 2016 2017 Super Bowl between the ... Show

that is more or less 15% of the Japanese population tuning in to watch a Rugby game. So, even though

The Good And Bad Teacher In Ishmael By Daniel Quinn
On the first day of school, the first thing that comes to a student s mind is what teacher they are going
to have and if they are a good teacher or not. No student wants a teacher who is extremely difficult
and makes the class teach themselves the material instead of teaching it to them completely. A good
teacher makes their students reflect on their work and leaves time in class for discussion of thoughts
and ideas the students may have about a certain topic or story. On the other hand, a bad teacher doesn t
give their students feedback and leaves them wondering whether they are on the right path with their
ideas and thoughts. A bad teacher does not hand his students what they need to learn or know, nor is
he ever present when a student needs help. However, some teachers can have both good and bad
attributes. In the novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, Ishmael the gorilla takes on the role of a teacher
after placing an ad in the local newspaper calling forth any citizen with a desire to save the world.
Eventually he is approached by the narrator who is interested in the ad, and Ishmael begins teaching
him all there is to know about the takers and the leavers culture. Ishmael is not a normal teacher, and
teaches the narrator the important lessons through different methods because he thinks people rely too
much on the teachers who spend their lives simply passing knowledge on to their students without a
second thought. Although Ishmael may come across to some as a bad teacher, he

Impulsive And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare characterizes Romeo s character to be both impulsive and
immature in things that include love and things that don t include love. Romeo s rash behavior and
hasty decisions are one the reasons for the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. Despite Romeo and Juliet
both being the heirs of two enemies, they fall in love rather quickly, forgetting hardships that would
come, proving that it s better to think before you act. Before Romeo meets Juliet, he is in love with
Rosaline, so much so that when she rejects him, he mourns for her, acting unhappy and downhearted.
As a result of that, he creates a depressed environment around him as Montague says, Shuts up his
windows, locks fair daylight out, and makes himself an artificial night (1.1.142 143). Revealing just
how much Rosaline s rejections affects him. Rosaline has taken an oath of chastity, this plays a big
role in his sadness as this leaves her uncharmed by Romeo, making her, in strong proof of chastity
well armed, from love s weak childish bow she lives uncharmed (1.1.218 219). Romeo s love for
Rosaline seems more like an obsession than love as it affects Romeo s ... Show more content on

The Feminism And The Role Of Female Representation On The...
We seem to being more and about the feminism and importance of female representation in the
workplace and all aspects of life. An important area that often gets discussed is female representation
in movies and media. This is particularly important because people often use movies to form the
opinions on how one should act, talk or even look. Although it may seem like we have made great
efforts to treat women equally, it s important to actually look into whether or not that s happening.
Women are still underrepresented in film and often given roles that fit into a certain stereotype.
Although not the first actress, Florence Lawrence was one of the most recognizable women (Klein) in
American silent films in the early 1900s. Although she was in a large amount of films she still only
played a typical female role of a wife, daughter, sister, or lover. She did get to sometimes play a role
that we would even know today such as Cleopatra or Juliet (Klein) we still never got to see in a strong
independent role. Some of the biggest actresses in the 1930s and 1940s Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis,
Joan Crawford, and Rita Davis. Although they all were successful and some even won an Oscar or
two, a stand out from this time period was Katherine Hepburn. Hepburn is one of the most successful
female actress having one four Oscars, only surpassed by Meryl Streep (Hossain). Although a great
actress, Katherine Hepburn lost popularity for a while because she chose to live a life

Capitalism And Socialism In The Jungle By Upton Sinclair
During the 1900s many immigrants were coming to the United States for a better life. Companies
would hire immigrants from all over to work in their so called meatpacking industry which had
unsanitary conditions. The Jungle written by Upton Sinclair which aimed at the meatpacking industry
through the use of socialism. Upton advocated socialism more than capitalism which was used in the
book. After the book was written an act was passed known as the Meat Inspection of 1906 which
prohibited of misbranding meat products and better conditions for workers.
The Jungle showed that the immigrants were taken advantage of, and the main protagonist was Jurgis,

The monograph flows naturally as it is in chronological order on how immigrants would come to the
United States for the American Dream, and were working in horrible jobs and work conditions.
Upton Sinclair was very biased due to fact that he wanted a socialist country rather than capitalism.
The author shows the atrocious side of capitalism so that way he can promote socialism. He believes
that capitalism takes over individuals lives because the bosses of these facility want to pay the workers
less in horrible working conditions.
The Jungle s Critical observation proves the main point on how capitalism can affect immigrants and
to take grant of them. At the end of the book Upton Sinclair still has a stance on Socialism, he
advocates socialism which in the end used Jurgis to be a faithful socialist.
The background of Upton Sinclair is very credible due to the help of passing the Meat Inspection Act
which helped millions of immigrants work in better conditions. The author wrote several books.
In Conclusion, Upton Sinclair advocated Socialism, he wanted to end capitalism which was affecting
immigrants in many ways. He helped passed several acts which affected millions of workers for better

Holy Trinity
What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions the Trinity? Do Christians have a
good understanding of what it means to serve a Triune God? Do we explain ourselves in a precise way
or do we leave people with unanswered questions and confusion? I would like to explore the historic,
orthodox Christianity and the classic Wesleyan Arminian consensus beliefs on the person of the Holy
Spirit.
First let us seek what it is that the orthodox Christians and the Wesleyan Arminian believe according
to the Trinity.
Orthodox Christians believe in a single God who is both three and one (triune); the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit, one in essence and undivided . The Holy Trinity is three unconfused and distinct divine

helps unify the church. He shows us the correct way to be relational with each other. One cannot help

Essay on The Million Man March by Maya Angelou
Almost a million people who were deprived of any sort of human rights had stood up against the
government to make a change. The voices of the people come from the poem A Million Man March
by Maya Angelou which proves that together people can make a big difference even when they go
against the government. Before this big change had happened though the dark skinned part of the
nation were treated horribly and were pushed over the edge, this was explained using imagery. Also a
stanza was repeated very often to remind people of the horrors they had to go through and that is s
time for change using the power of metaphors. Finally during the march there was a fair amount of
repetition which was used to make the people stronger and more ... Show more content on

For a long time the participants had suffered from being treated almost inhuman like but there was a
moment when the blacks where ready to stand up and fight for their rights. Maya Angelou used lots of
metaphors to describe the people s feelings and make the reader fell them too: I say the night has been
long (The Million Man March, line 1 but repeated through out the poem). The nigh has been long is
used metaphorically to say that enough suffering has been endured. This quote is related to suffering
because when darkness is present monsters and such lurk about (scared). I say is metaphorically used
to show strength and leadership. So I say the night has been long stands for stop being cowardly, you
don t need to suffer just come together with all your strength. Although Maya Angelou is showing that
the participants have strength she also shows where it s coming from: The wound has been deep, the
pit has been dark and the walls have been steep (The Million Man March, lines 2 4 but repeated
through out the poem). These phrases remind the people of what they had to endure in life and they
get strength from this to go against the government and make a change. The wound has been deep
represents the pain the dark skinned people had to endure in their lives which they know their children
might have to too. The pit has been dark and the

Disadvantages Of Garlic
Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is a bulb crop belonging to the family Alliaceae. It is the second most
widely cultivated crop after onion (Hamma et al., 2013). It is grown worldwide in all temperate to sub
tropical areas as an important spice and medicinal plant (Fritsch and Friesen, 2002). Garlic is among
the most important bulb vegetable crops used as a seasoning or condiment of foods because of its
pungent flavor. Garlic adds a taste to foods as well as helps to make them more palatable and
digestible (Higdon, 2005). Garlic contains remedies that can be used against heart problems,
headache, bites, worms and tumours (Keusgen, 2002) and can be used as herbal remedy that reduces
multitude of risk factors and play a decisive role in the genesis and progression of arteriosclerosis
(Brewster, 1994; Rubatzky and Yamaguchi, 1997; Siegel et al., 2000). Generally, garlic is a
fundamental component of many or most dishes in various countries including Ethiopia. In Ethiopia,
the Alliums group (onion, garlic, and shallot) are important bulb crops produced for home
consumption, spices, medicinal plant and as a source of income to many peasant farmers in many
parts of the country as described by Getachew Tabour and Asfaw Zelleke (2000). Garlic contains

The Dangers Of The Atomic Bomb
On August 6, 1945, at 8:15 am America released an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima in Japan,
(Hersey 1). This action was done to put an end to World War II, and bring the soldiers of America
back home. For many Americans, the dropping of the bomb meant nothing but to do what had to be
done. The end results were not taken into account because there was no way to know what could
happen when using new technology, (Okazaki). The results of the atomic bomb alone had a casualty
rate of about 135,000 people, of that 66,000 died and 69,000 were injured, (The Atomic Bombings).
Prior to the atomic bomb, Japan had already lost their a majority of their defense, only had their navy
left and was nearly destroyed. From data, we were able to find out an equivalent to that bomb had
more power than two thousands tons of TNT, (Hersey 49). The excessive amount of power did not
help to solve anything, it only created a race for nuclear power, (The Cold War). The dropping of the
Atomic bomb was an inhumane use of power and all countries should destroy the use of atomic power
because it does not single out the enemies from Japan, but it also affects Japan s civilians in that area
innocent or not. All within a few seconds, families and friends were torn from each other without a
chance for any last words, all at the hands of the American people. The result of this action led very
few people who were able to care for those who needed help because very few people were left
uninjured. The

Tomkey Family By David Sedaris
In the first few paragraphs of David Sedaris memoir, the author is forced to realize that some people
live different realities than he does. Upon learning that his new neighbors, the Tomkey family, have
very different views on modern technology than most of first world society, he grows curious of them.
The way the neighborhood reacts to this situation has a lot to say about how society tolerates other
opinions and beliefs. Observation of their reactions shows how they feel more distant and
uncomfortable towards the Tomkey family. David s own curiosity could be explained by his new
lifestyle change, considering the narrator transitioned from a very secluded neighborhood to a much
more cramped city lifestyle. When Sedaris learns that his new neighbors were definitely much more
diverse than his family, he begins to question their beliefs. He then starts to spend a lot of time around
their house. During nighttime, he gets much closer. By watching the family through their window, he
learns how the family acts during different activities throughout the day. Eventually, Sedaris is able to

Not Without My Daughter
Film Analysis: Not Without My Daughter The film Not Without My Daughter depicts both positive
and negative responses to the Islamic religion. The film starts off with the couple of Moody and Betty,
and their daughter, Mahtob. In the opening scene, the family is depicted of being loving, humorous,
and supportive. The culturally unbiased and multi faceted portrayal of Islam in this film is
accomplished by including both negative aspects, through depicting gender discrimination and
positive aspects, by presenting women as being respectful.
Moody is employed as a doctor. In the break room, Moody overhears his coworkers talking poorly

Iran. Due to media, Americans tend to stray away from different ... Show more content on

She learns that most women in Iran choose to wear the Chador as a sign of respect. I consider this as a
positive aspect of Islam. It is the women s choice to wear a veil which is looked at as being respectful.
From this film, I could understand that gender roles are very important in the depiction of Islam. After
Moody tells Betty that he had been fired from the hospital, he comes up with the idea of living in Iran

Assata Shakur Response Paper
Assata Shakur has the most direct commentary out of all of the activists that we have
discussed. One can sense her urgency for the unity of black people and how her past experiences
shaped her into the person she is today. In Assata: An Autobiography, some of her most
intriguing comments were the comments about self hatred in the black community. She is
adamant about addressing and fixing the self hate among black people. However, though
attempts have been made by organizations such as the BPP, activists like Malcolm X, and an
array of others to spread African American pride, the self hate and jokes continue even today.
Shakur discusses and describes the hatred that blacks have within by mentioning the ... Show more

For instance, her involvement
with the Republic of New Afrika, and her violent mentality was a bit too extreme for me.
However, analyzing Shakur made me realize that there was a difference among the activists from
the 19th and early 20th century and the ones from the mid 20th century. Compared to the older
activists we have discussed, there seems to be a push for self worth, not just how to achieve
equal rights or make whites accept black people. Malcolm X pushes for this belief in self worth
and unity among black people as well.3 This becomes important in my opinion because black
people have struggled for centuries attempting to gain equality and during its duration have
naturally endured identity issues. I feel that W.E.B Du Bois idea of double consciousness comes
into play here. His idea that African Americans have basically two identities or thought
processes, one being Black and the other being American or through the eyes of white people
could have possibly created divisions among blacks, causing some to despise themselves. 4
What intrigues me most about not only Assata Shakur, but even Martin Luther King and
Malcolm X, is that there seems to be a move from just equality, but to equality and love. While
each of the three activists expresses their ideas of what love means

This article was interesting to read because I am familiar with Robert s position. I had the same
thoughts and feelings he expressed in the article. One similar thinking was why addict drowns
themselves to drugs. I am amazed how over the years, he has matured in thinking when it comes to
addiction. He is compassionate. Took me a long time to have compassion towards an addict I knew.
My sympathy developed during my freshman college. I did not want to be mad anymore and decided
to have a different approach to thinking. One method of thinking, I never thought of, was how Robert
saw addiction as a disease and in need of treatment. (Wasser, 2017). I found his perspective intriguing.
Also, the article specified that local officers and judges do not treat all addicts as criminals. (Wasser,
2017). This piece of information was eye catching. This article taught me do not give up hope even if
the addict is selfish.
As a future social worker, two tools stand out when practicing in this field involved with drugs. One
tool to practice is compassionate. If Robert can be kind, so can you. Compassionate is not judging the
person based on their actions and not how many times they messed up. Behind every action might
leave a clue why a person does drugs. A person uses drugs to hide wounds and pain or to cover up

One Trip To The Trashcan
Times are tough, and more people are cooking at home than dining out. However, some of them are
starting to get frustrated with how much time it takes to prepare a good meal. Here are three great tips
to make cooking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Cooking Tip #1: Make One Trip to the Trashcan
Running back and forth to the trashcan is aggravating (as well as inefficient). You can make only one
trip by lining a colander, sink strainer, small trash can, or other wide mouthed receptacle with a plastic
shopping bag and keeping it next to your cutting board. If your cutting board happens to be right next
to the sink, place the lined receptacle in the basin. Otherwise place the receptacle at your feet (but be
careful not to trip over it). Toss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Limiting the use of our utilities is not only beneficial to our budget but also to the environment as
well. Here are several useful and lesser known tips in conserving energy while you are in the kitchen.
While being in the kitchen, the stove is one of the main items that will use up the most energy, so it is
important to be wise with your energy consumption when cooking on it. Adjust the burners when
using a gas based cooking top so that the flames just barely touch or are a tad lower than the bottom of
the pans you are cooking on. Flames that curl around a pan waste more energy. However, if you are
using an electric cook top, put the pan on a coil that is similar in size. Place the pan so that its bottom
lies absolutely flat on the burner. This will conserve a great deal of energy. Also, when using an
electric stove, set the burners on high first and then proceed to lower it to finish the cooking. For
dishes that aren t pans, turn off the burner completely at the end as the element will hold the heat for
several minutes. In addition to your stoves, the oven vent on an electrical range can be very useful. If
you are using an oven vent on an electrical range, you will find that the vent is under one of the
burners. While the oven is in use, you will be able to feel the hot air flowing through the vent. For
dishes that you would like to warm, set them on that burner. This will minimize the use of a
microwave and will also optimize the use of your burners. Now, for dishes that need to cook for long
periods of time, particularly over an hour, there is no need to preheat your oven (unless you are
cooking a turkey that needs a crisp skin). For dishes that must be cooked just under an hour, extend
the cooking time for a little bit. The only preheating that is required is for dishes that have a short
baking time. Although this seems like a very obvious tip

A Research Study On Lesbian Families And Lesbian Survivors...
Research Question
The following is my preliminary research question. In Ottawa Ontario, what are the resources or
services that are available to and for lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence, and how do
women that have contacted these resources feel about the adequacy of the services they were offered?
Research Statement
Reflecting on the path my answer might take, it is possible that the resources and services available in
Ottawa reflect a heteronormative belief about society. Put another way; the services could reproduce
the erasure of lesbian experiences of partner violence. In this sense, the experience of heterosexual
women and lesbian women could be conflated, and all women offered the same services. That being
said, lesbian women may not have their needs met in a way that is concrete or meaningful.
Consequently, it is necessary for service and resources that respond to intimate partner violence to
offer services outside of a heterosexual lens to better meet the needs of lesbian survivors.
I believe that my argument matters because lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence deserve the
recognition that their experiences matter. Moreover, the erasure of the lesbian experience in available
services could be viewed as an extension of violence itself. Therefore, my argument matters because
lesbian survivors of partner violence matter. A challenge that could be put forth is that female
survivors of violence have similar experiences based on the fact that they

Universal Symbolism In Theatre
Many different approaches have been taking to theatre for many generations. One of the more people
interpretations would have to be symbolism. Symbolism uses objects or sayings to connect situations
main characters are going through. Symbolism in the theatre can be achieved via characters, colour,
movement, costume and props. This causes the audience to think more and pay closer attention to
minor details in a play. Symbolism is also a powerful force for communicating meaning; certain
themes or ideas affect the mind of the audience more profoundly when presented indirectly through a
symbol than when presented overtly. Plays have been popular among many different cultures and they
will often use symbolism to drive home ideas. Symbolism is used to leave the audience thinking about
underlying issues antaganists are going through. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has become a staple in modern theatre, as well. Contextual symbolism and universal symbolism
have become the main types of symbolism seen in theatre. Contextual relates more to what has been
mentioned in the work and will draw on that. Universal symbolism can relate to anything outside the
story. I would have to say I chose symbolism because it is always interested me, even before this class.
I may not spot what is symbolism but when I do, it draws more depth to the work that I did not notice

Invite Three People To Dinner
If you got the chance to invite three people to your dinner party, dead or alive, who would you
choose? I would invite Jensen Ackles, Robin Williams, and Barack Obama to my dinner party because
they re all very humorous and a great inspiration to me. It was a hard choice, but I chose these three
people for many reasons. Jensen Ackles is my number one choice because he has been my biggest
obsession for the past few years. He is an actor in the show Supernatural, where he plays a character
named Dean. I have loved him for a long time not just for his looks, but also for his hilarious
personality. He is also very sweet; right now he is raising money for a community support network

San Antonio Museum Of Art Analysis
Upon visiting the San Antonio Museum of Art I found nothing about art extremely interesting and I
honestly wasn t looking forward to spending a majority of my day looking at art pieces. However, as I
approached the museum I was in awe of how beautiful the building was. The way it was placed in
downtown San Antonio was absolutely astonishing. As I walked through the huge glass doors I knew I
was in for a pleasant surprise. I carefully took the time to examine each artwork and read the
descriptions of each one. I found it extremely difficult to find just one I liked and surprisingly I
disliked a lot more pieces than I thought I would. I ended up having to actually walk through the

This piece was created by Willie Cole in the year 1993. Willie Cole was born in America in 1995. I
found this piece in the contemporary art section. I believe that this piece caught my eye because of
how huge it was, it was exactly 49 x 96 inches. This piece was so huge that it almost took up an entire
wall of the museum. This piece of artwork was made out of oil stick, chalk, and latex on masonite and
wood. To me, it kind of looked like chalk on a chalkboard with nothing else. The way that the word
America is placed out on the canvas gives just enough room below each letter to write words that
begin with each of the letters that spell out the word America. I was unsure as to why this piece was
created the way it was but with further research on the piece I realized that Willie Cole created this art
piece while sitting in front of the television and writing down words said by the news reporters that
contain the first letters of A, M, E, R, I, C, A he also obtained the words by searching through the New
York Times. How Do You Spell America #6 is also one of the eight works that Billie Cole uses a
chalkboard for. The letters that contain the letter A that were popular in the news are Authorized, At,
Abortion, Ask, A, After, Ambushed, Annual, Asprin, Angered, African, An Activist, American, and

Essay On Laser Therapy
Let There Be Light On Her Painful Site: Laser Therapy Offers Safer Treatment for Your Cat s
Osteoarthritis
It can be upsetting to see your cat, who was once so agile and active, curtailing her activities that used
to give her so much joy. Just like their human friends, cats commonly develop osteoarthritis, also
known as degenerative joint disease, as they age. This causes pain and stiffness that can really cramp
her style when it comes to mobility. Traditional pain management drugs are hazardous to your kitty s
health, leaving veterinarians with few options. Laser therapy may be just what the doctor ordered as a
safer treatment choice for reducing her discomfort.

Shining the Light On Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is not a new form of treatment. It has been used for years outside of the United States,
and has provided therapy to Olympic athletes and military personnel. In 2005, the Food and Drug
Administration approved the use of Class IV laser therapy, or cold laser therapy, in the Unites States,
and its use has been embraced by the human medical and veterinary industries. To clarify, a heat laser,
also known as a cutting laser, is used in surgical procedures to cut through tissue. Conversely, a cold
laser emits very a low heat level that penetrates through tissue without cutting. Once the cold laser
light beam enters the tissue, cells respond by emitting a series of chemical reactions called
photobiostimulation, which releases endorphins and promotes healing at a cellular level.
Osteoarthritis and A Whole Lot More
When treating osteoarthritis, cold laser therapy is utilized to accomplish three things in your cat s
body. The common goal of these three things is to relive pain. These three things include the
following:
Reduce inflammation, which occurs through vasodilation
Block pain signal transmission to the brain, which occurs through the stimulation of nerve cells

St. Patrick Leadership Traits
Sometime during 387 AD in Great Britain and the United Kingdom St. Patrick was born. One thing he
was known for, was how he was captured at the age of sixteen by Irish pirates. While he was captured
he became devoted to Christianity through prayer. Another reason he was known was how he spread
Christianity throughout Ireland. Lastly, he is known for the legacy he has left behind in Ireland. St.
Patrick is a leader and shows many great characteristics. (www.wesleyjohnston)
One reason St. Patrick is known is his journey of finding god. In the early fourteen hundreds he was
kidnapped by Irish pirates and he had to work as a slave for six years tending sheep. St. Patrick
confessed that he discovered god during his captivity. He prayed a hundred times a day that he would
escape and that life would be better. Patrick had a vision of children reaching out their hands to him
grew determined to convert the Irish to Christianity. After six years Patrick escaped and traveled two
hundred miles cross country to start his missionary work. After Patrick found god he now had plans to
turn Ireland to nothing but Christianity. (biography.com) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patrick had a successful time spreading Christianity throughout Ireland. His first step in starting to
spread Christianity was becoming a priest. A couple months later he returned to Ireland because he
kept having visions. Patrick s visions showed how we supposed to become a Christian missionary to
spread Christianity to the people of Ireland. Patrick s first church was Saul, he preached to the kings
and their households and met with varied levels of success. He had a method that was to Christianize
the Celtic Pagan festivals. Patrick lit an Easter bonfire on these hills where he also preached the word.
One famous thing is known for while at the lighting of the Easter bonfire is having the three leaf

Aditive Approach
The United States is full of different ethnicities and races with different cultures and are accustomed to
a variety of different behaviors and ways of learning. It is essential that the curriculum within the
Nation s schools, colleges, and universities are reflected to the ethnic, cultural, and racial diversity
within the United States. Schools, colleges and universities are using various approaches to inspire
ethnic content into the curriculum, including the contributions, additive, transformation, and social
action approaches. To respond adequately to the ethnic realities with the nation and the world, the
curriculum should be transformed and should help students to develop decision making and social
action skills. According to the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Major goals of instruction in this approach are to educate students for social criticism and social
change and to teach them decision making skills. For example, promoting human rights and peace at
schools and working to ensure that the schools building and activities do not harm the environment.
To empower students and help them obtain political efficacy, the school must help them become
reflective social critics and skilled participants in social change (Banks 1989). The traditional goal of
school has been to socialize students so they would accept unquestioningly the existing ideologies,
institutions, and practices within society and the nation state.
I believe that each approach stated by James Banks is important in its own way and do not over power
one another. The four approaches to the integration of ethnic content into the curriculum I described
above are often mixed and blended in actual teaching situations. An important goal that all of these
approaches share are teaching about racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity which should be to empower
students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to participate in civil action that will help
transform our world and enhance the possibility for human

Let s Take Football Players
Let s take football players, for instance. During the season many are told to bulk up or gain weight.
But what happens after the season is over? By bulking up during the season the players are eating
many more calories than necessary and are often eating the wrong foods. So after the season is over
the athletes have established bad habits and are carrying excess weight around. Now, on the opposite
side of the spectrum, many athletes are not eating enough. Their caloric intake is too low for the
amount of physical activity being partaken in. Sports that are known for having problems with this are
ballet, distance running, wrestling, cheerleading, and swimming. According to NPR, skinny ballerinas

When athletes are not properly fueled they may become fatigued, and they are more prone to illness
and injury. This will most certainly affect their performance. But there is something we can do about
this. Matzkin says that anytime a young female athlete comes to her office with shin splits or fractures,
she now asks about nutrition and menstruation. We may be able to identify the root cause of bone
mineral density problems, she says, and patients can be helped early to chart a new course in eating. It
s not just about eating enough, Matzkin says. It s also about eating the right things like fruits,
vegetables, protein and foods rich in calcium and vitamin D. It s critical to build bone when you can,
she says, because there s literally a countdown to how long women have to build strong bones. (Patti
Neighmond) Neighmond in this radio show says that it is all about what they eat. By not fueling their

for you at all. Actually the bigger is better mentality in football can endanger professional

  • 2. Who Is Meursault s Irony In Albert Camus The Outsider Albert Camus novel The Stranger follows the life of M. Meursault, a sales clerk in 1940 s Algiers, from the death of his mother to his execution. Meursault, throughout the novel, embodies Camus s absurdist philosophies: he disregards emotion, speaks his mind, and seems apathetic about his life. Meursault s apathy is unusual, and thus, according to the incongruity theory of humor, is funny for most readers. As the theory states, however, Meursault s apathy is only funny to the reader that does not expect it, and thus the humor in the book only applies to a sect of the readers. Yet the themes of rejection and hopelessness in the book appeal to all readers and diminish the humor in the novel. Camus essay The Myth of Sisyphus furthers the idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While waiting for his trial, a chaplain shoves a cross in Meursault s face and asks Do you know what this is? (68) Meursault asserts his atheism and thus rejects religion. The humor in this scene stems both from Meursault s character and the chaplain s conviction to convert Meursault. First, Meursault is easily distracted and his comments are unexpected, and, following the incongruity theory, are funny. While the chaplain is yelling at Meursault, Meursault says [it was] hard to follow [the chaplain s] reasoning because it was hot and big flies kept landing on my face. (68) Second, the chaplain is determined to reveal Meursault s [belief] in God ; thus, Meursault s continual rejection of the God, according to the relief theory, is funny (69). The crucifix, in the scene, symbolizes more than christianity: it represents the afterlife and the search for a higher being, values that are deeply ingrained in society. Thus, Meursault s rejection of the crucifix, which aligns well with Camus absurdism, serves as a shunning of hope for a better life in the moment and an afterlife. In his essay, The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus exemplifies his point from The Stranger by saying that the whole being is exerted toward accomplishing nothing. (1) The hopelessness and meaningless nature that both The Myth of Sisyphus and The Stranger identify cannot, and does not, make for comic or even humorous material; the big philosophical questions ... • 3. Role Of Fate In The Odyssey When determining life choices our subconscious directs ous to our fate. No matter what decisions you make the outcome will always be the same because it s a future that was destined to be for you. You can alter how things are expected to be by our own intentions on wanting to be different, but in a way it all comes back to what was already meant to happen. In order to be able to configure our own path we have to leave behind old habits of accusing other individuals for existing sadness or errors that we make in life, we are compelled to recognize the standpoint that all things are on account of our own control. • 4. Democracies are more likely to win “Total Wars” than... The term total war has been attributed to a small number of conflicts. The term was originally coined by the German military officer Erich Ludendorff in his book The Total War . Previous to this the renowned military theorists Carl von Clausewitz and Antoine Henri Jomini both touched on the raw principles of total war , but failing to ever recognise the term Ludendorff went on to fashion. It was not until the 1950s that the term re emerged to describe the nature of the conflict during the First and Second World Wars, whilst a number of wars previous to this have characteristics of total wars , the primitive state of national economies and refusal to fully mobilise the economy purely for war can explain why these conflicts were more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of violence to repress and monitor was a common theme used by dictators to control their peoples. This was uncommon in democracies, for example the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill did not have his own personal guard, answerable only to himself; it was Churchill who was scrutinized by the people, the reverse of the situation pertaining in both Germany and the Soviet Union. Totalitarianism endangers the stability of a nation as there will be growing internal unrest due to the excesses of terrorism, the denial of rights and the inability of large segments of the population to participate in public affairs . It was these basic democratic principles which were absent throughout the totalitarian regimes of the 20th Century; as a single man s ideology was allowed to develop unrestricted, with little input from either a strong government or the general public. In the autocratic governments of wartime Europe the chain of command was rigidly maintained from the top down, unlike democracies where the chain was more susceptible to variation. The effects of the totalitarian administrative structure manifest themselves in subordinates inability to question orders and policies which leads to further disregard for the negative consequences of such commands. A fine example of this would be German high command s inability to make intuitive judgements without the Fuhrer s expressed permission, on the day of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Dickens worked as a clerk at the Navy pay office in Portsmouth. He later found work in Chatham and Charles, the second of seven children, went to the local school. John Dickens found it difficult to provide for his growing family on his meager income. In 1822 the family moved to Camden Town in London. John Dickens debts had become so severe that all the household goods were sold. Still unable to satisfy his creditors, John Dickens was arrested and sent to Marshalsea Prison. Charles, now aged twelve, found work at Warren s Blacking Factory, where he was paid six shillings a week wrapping shoe black bottles. Six months after being ... Despite having to charge the heavy tax imposed on newspapers, the True Sun sold 30,000 copies a day. In his articles, Dickens used his considerable knowledge of what went on in the House of Commons to help promote the cause of parliamentary reform. Charles Dickens was pleased when Parliament eventually agreed to pass the 1832 Reform Act, however, like most radicals, he thought it did not go far enough. The new reformed House of Commons passed a series of new measures including a reduction in newspaper tax from 4d. to 1d. As a result, the circulation of the True Sun increased to over 60,000. In 1833 Dickens had his first story published in the Monthly Magazine. Using the pen name of Boz , Dickens also began contributing short stories to the Morning Chronicle and the Evening Chronicle. These stories were so popular that they were collected together and published as a book entitled Sketches by Boz (1836). The publisher, William Hall, now commissioned Dickens to write The Pickwick Papers in twenty monthly installments. This was followed by Oliver Twist, published in Bentley s Miscellany (1837 38) and Nicholas Nickleby (1838 39), also published monthly. • 6. Compare And Contrast American Football Vs Rugby Third Draft American Football vs Rugby. Patriots, Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, ever heard of any of these teams? Chances are you have and probably the Super Bowl as well. All of these teams and the Super Bowl itself are part of the NFL or National Football League, which if you haven t heard of before is a well run organization that specializes in running a national league for American Football inside the United States. My thesis · that American Football is the better sport financially as its organized significantly better an ugly and therefore its more successful thanks to financial funding and backup. American Football is undoubtedly the most watched sport in the US racking up over 16.5 million views on average in the 2016 NFL season. • 7. The Good And Bad Teacher In Ishmael By Daniel Quinn On the first day of school, the first thing that comes to a student s mind is what teacher they are going to have and if they are a good teacher or not. No student wants a teacher who is extremely difficult and makes the class teach themselves the material instead of teaching it to them completely. A good teacher makes their students reflect on their work and leaves time in class for discussion of thoughts and ideas the students may have about a certain topic or story. On the other hand, a bad teacher doesn t give their students feedback and leaves them wondering whether they are on the right path with their ideas and thoughts. A bad teacher does not hand his students what they need to learn or know, nor is he ever present when a student needs help. However, some teachers can have both good and bad attributes. In the novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, Ishmael the gorilla takes on the role of a teacher after placing an ad in the local newspaper calling forth any citizen with a desire to save the world. Eventually he is approached by the narrator who is interested in the ad, and Ishmael begins teaching him all there is to know about the takers and the leavers culture. Ishmael is not a normal teacher, and teaches the narrator the important lessons through different methods because he thinks people rely too much on the teachers who spend their lives simply passing knowledge on to their students without a second thought. • 8. Impulsive And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare characterizes Romeo s character to be both impulsive and immature in things that include love and things that don t include love. Romeo s rash behavior and hasty decisions are one the reasons for the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. Despite Romeo and Juliet both being the heirs of two enemies, they fall in love rather quickly, forgetting hardships that would come, proving that it s better to think before you act. Before Romeo meets Juliet, he is in love with Rosaline, so much so that when she rejects him, he mourns for her, acting unhappy and downhearted. As a result of that, he creates a depressed environment around him as Montague says, Shuts up his windows, locks fair daylight out, and makes himself an artificial night (1.1.142 143). Revealing just how much Rosaline s rejections affects him. Rosaline has taken an oath of chastity, this plays a big role in his sadness as this leaves her uncharmed by Romeo, making her, in strong proof of chastity well armed, from love s weak childish bow she lives uncharmed (1.1.218 219). • 9. The Feminism And The Role Of Female Representation On The... We seem to being more and about the feminism and importance of female representation in the workplace and all aspects of life. An important area that often gets discussed is female representation in movies and media. This is particularly important because people often use movies to form the opinions on how one should act, talk or even look. Although it may seem like we have made great efforts to treat women equally, it s important to actually look into whether or not that s happening. Women are still underrepresented in film and often given roles that fit into a certain stereotype. Although not the first actress, Florence Lawrence was one of the most recognizable women (Klein) in American silent films in the early 1900s. Although she was in a large amount of films she still only played a typical female role of a wife, daughter, sister, or lover. She did get to sometimes play a role that we would even know today such as Cleopatra or Juliet (Klein) we still never got to see in a strong independent role. Some of the biggest actresses in the 1930s and 1940s Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Rita Davis. Although they all were successful and some even won an Oscar or two, a stand out from this time period was Katherine Hepburn. Hepburn is one of the most successful female actress having one four Oscars, only surpassed by Meryl Streep (Hossain). Do we explain ourselves in a precise way or do we leave people with unanswered questions and confusion? I would like to explore the historic, orthodox Christianity and the classic Wesleyan Arminian consensus beliefs on the person of the Holy Spirit. First let us seek what it is that the orthodox Christians and the Wesleyan Arminian believe according to the Trinity. Orthodox Christians believe in a single God who is both three and one (triune); the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one in essence and undivided . The voices of the people come from the poem A Million Man March by Maya Angelou which proves that together people can make a big difference even when they go against the government. Before this big change had happened though the dark skinned part of the nation were treated horribly and were pushed over the edge, this was explained using imagery. It is grown worldwide in all temperate to sub tropical areas as an important spice and medicinal plant (Fritsch and Friesen, 2002). Garlic is among the most important bulb vegetable crops used as a seasoning or condiment of foods because of its pungent flavor. Garlic adds a taste to foods as well as helps to make them more palatable and digestible (Higdon, 2005). Garlic contains remedies that can be used against heart problems, headache, bites, worms and tumours (Keusgen, 2002) and can be used as herbal remedy that reduces multitude of risk factors and play a decisive role in the genesis and progression of arteriosclerosis (Brewster, 1994; Rubatzky and Yamaguchi, 1997; Siegel et al., 2000). This action was done to put an end to World War II, and bring the soldiers of America back home. For many Americans, the dropping of the bomb meant nothing but to do what had to be done. The end results were not taken into account because there was no way to know what could happen when using new technology, (Okazaki). The results of the atomic bomb alone had a casualty rate of about 135,000 people, of that 66,000 died and 69,000 were injured, (The Atomic Bombings). Prior to the atomic bomb, Japan had already lost their a majority of their defense, only had their navy left and was nearly destroyed. From data, we were able to find out an equivalent to that bomb had more power than two thousands tons of TNT, (Hersey 49). The excessive amount of power did not help to solve anything, it only created a race for nuclear power, (The Cold War). • 15. Tomkey Family By David Sedaris In the first few paragraphs of David Sedaris memoir, the author is forced to realize that some people live different realities than he does. Upon learning that his new neighbors, the Tomkey family, have very different views on modern technology than most of first world society, he grows curious of them. The way the neighborhood reacts to this situation has a lot to say about how society tolerates other opinions and beliefs. Observation of their reactions shows how they feel more distant and uncomfortable towards the Tomkey family. David s own curiosity could be explained by his new lifestyle change, considering the narrator transitioned from a very secluded neighborhood to a much more cramped city lifestyle. When Sedaris learns that his new neighbors were definitely much more diverse than his family, he begins to question their beliefs. He then starts to spend a lot of time around their house. The film starts off with the couple of Moody and Betty, and their daughter, Mahtob. In the opening scene, the family is depicted of being loving, humorous, and supportive. The culturally unbiased and multi faceted portrayal of Islam in this film is accomplished by including both negative aspects, through depicting gender discrimination and positive aspects, by presenting women as being respectful. She is adamant about addressing and fixing the self hate among black people. Compared to the older activists we have discussed, there seems to be a push for self worth, not just how to achieve equal rights or make whites accept black people. Malcolm X pushes for this belief in self worth and unity among black people as well.3 This becomes important in my opinion because black people have struggled for centuries attempting to gain equality and during its duration have naturally endured identity issues. I feel that W.E.B Du Bois idea of double consciousness comes into play here. His idea that African Americans have basically two identities or thought processes, one being Black and the other being American or through the eyes of white people could have possibly created divisions among blacks, causing some to despise themselves. 4

Cooking Tip #1: Make One Trip to the Trashcan Running back and forth to the trashcan is aggravating (as well as inefficient). You can make only one trip by lining a colander, sink strainer, small trash can, or other wide mouthed receptacle with a plastic shopping bag and keeping it next to your cutting board. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Limiting the use of our utilities is not only beneficial to our budget but also to the environment as well. Here are several useful and lesser known tips in conserving energy while you are in the kitchen. While being in the kitchen, the stove is one of the main items that will use up the most energy, so it is important to be wise with your energy consumption when cooking on it. Adjust the burners when using a gas based cooking top so that the flames just barely touch or are a tad lower than the bottom of the pans you are cooking on. Flames that curl around a pan waste more energy. However, if you are using an electric cook top, put the pan on a coil that is similar in size. Place the pan so that its bottom lies absolutely flat on the burner. This will conserve a great deal of energy. Also, when using an electric stove, set the burners on high first and then proceed to lower it to finish the cooking. For dishes that aren t pans, turn off the burner completely at the end as the element will hold the heat for several minutes. In addition to your stoves, the oven vent on an electrical range can be very useful. If you are using an oven vent on an electrical range, you will find that the vent is under one of the burners. While the oven is in use, you will be able to feel the hot air flowing through the vent. For dishes that you would like to warm, set them on that burner. This will minimize the use of a microwave and will also optimize the use of your burners. Now, for dishes that need to cook for long periods of time, particularly over an hour, there is no need to preheat your oven (unless you are cooking a turkey that needs a crisp skin). For dishes that must be cooked just under an hour, extend the cooking time for a little bit. The only preheating that is required is for dishes that have a short baking time. In Ottawa Ontario, what are the resources or services that are available to and for lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence, and how do women that have contacted these resources feel about the adequacy of the services they were offered? Research Statement Reflecting on the path my answer might take, it is possible that the resources and services available in Ottawa reflect a heteronormative belief about society. Put another way; the services could reproduce the erasure of lesbian experiences of partner violence. In this sense, the experience of heterosexual women and lesbian women could be conflated, and all women offered the same services. That being said, lesbian women may not have their needs met in a way that is concrete or meaningful. Consequently, it is necessary for service and resources that respond to intimate partner violence to offer services outside of a heterosexual lens to better meet the needs of lesbian survivors. I believe that my argument matters because lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence deserve the recognition that their experiences matter. Moreover, the erasure of the lesbian experience in available services could be viewed as an extension of violence itself. Therefore, my argument matters because lesbian survivors of partner violence matter. A challenge that could be put forth is that female survivors of violence have similar experiences based on the fact that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is essential that the curriculum within the Nation s schools, colleges, and universities are reflected to the ethnic, cultural, and racial diversity within the United States. Schools, colleges and universities are using various approaches to inspire ethnic content into the curriculum, including the contributions, additive, transformation, and social action approaches. To respond adequately to the ethnic realities with the nation and the world, the curriculum should be transformed and should help students to develop decision making and social action skills. When athletes are not properly fueled they may become fatigued, and they are more prone to illness and injury. This will most certainly affect their performance. But there is something we can do about this. Matzkin says that anytime a young female athlete comes to her office with shin splits or fractures, she now asks about nutrition and menstruation. We may be able to identify the root cause of bone mineral density problems, she says, and patients can be helped early to chart a new course in eating. It s not just about eating enough, Matzkin says. It s also about eating the right things like fruits, vegetables, protein and foods rich in calcium and vitamin D. It s critical to build bone when you can, she says, because there s literally a countdown to how long women have to build strong bones.
