Circumstantial Evidence Analysis
Evidence is every considerable type of proof legally presented at a trial it also must be approved by a
judge. The reason why we use evidence is to help convince the judge or jury of supposed facts that
relate to the case. Witnesses who testify, an expert who has information on certain fields of work,
paperwork, records, photos etc. are all types of evidence that could be used in a case. Circumstantial
evidence is evidence that aims to come to a conclusion by stating the cause while logically trying to
prove the facts. The arguments and statements lawyers present to the judge and a judge who wants to
make a statement can be ruled with an objection therefore it is not consider evidence. During a
testimony a witness must swear under oath to say nothing but the truth that way her testimony can be
considered the truth since they no way of know if it is the truth or not. If they are caught in a lie
consequences will be brought down on the witness and in some cases it can completely throw out the
case. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has to have the potential to hold in court and must be relevant to the case, can not be immaterial, or
must be able to pass all standards which means no objections if not it is consider inadmissible
evidence which is not relevant to the case. On certain occasions a person may try to present certain
evidence that has nothing to do with the case or determining a fact. For example, gory details to prove
support a point or fact may possibly be irrelevant, so it may outweigh its value. Criminal cases that the
courts handle are usually much more strict on letting the jury hear such inappropriate details because
of the possibility in undue prejudice. The court only wants the jury to hear the passive aggressive
version of facts in cases especially those that involved

The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children...
The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children
It s a girl! or It s a boy! is typically the first thing parents hear after the birth of a child. This simple
statement of fact sets the groundwork for every interaction they will have with their daughter or son,
and for every experience that child will have throughout her or his life. Gender identity the private
experience of being female or male forms a core part of one s sense of self (Welker). The nature of this
private experience is enormously influenced by what we are taught it means to be a girl or a boy, and
these lessons are typically fraught with instances of gender bias what Beverly Stitt, author of Building
Gender Fairness in Schools, defines as a set of beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our society, males are the preferred sex. Mothers show a 2:1 preference for male children, and
fathers even more so (The Pinks and the Blues). Parents stereotype their child from birth: they think
that boys are more alert, more coordinated, stronger, bigger, and less attentive, while girls are softer,
weaker, and more attentive (Stockman). Research by Bloch at U. C. Berkeley revealed that parents
encourage differences in their children; with sons, parents emphasize achievement and value
independence and self reliance, while with daughters, parents emphasize proprieties and supervise
their daughters activities more than their sons (The Pinks and the Blues). I observed a videotape, titled
The Pinks and the Blues, of a family interview in which first the son and then the daughter were asked
to solve a puzzle with their parents present. With the son, Dad emphasized the cognitive aspects of the
task and checked for understanding, while Mom looked on. With the daughter, Dad emphasized the
affective relationship (the father daughter interaction) and stressed that the important thing was to
have fun, while Mom provided help to the point of interfering with the daughter s performance.
In addition to parents, the other primary agent influencing children at this age is the media, via
television. Little girls can watch Spiderman swing high

Insight Therapy Paper
Insight Therapies and Action therapies Name Institution Introduction Therapy refers to treatment
methods aimed at making people feel better or function in a better way. Insight therapy and action
therapy fall under psychotherapy. Psychotherapy refers to therapy of mental disorders, which involves
the individual talking to a professional psychologist to solve his problem. This paper focuses on
insight and action therapies. It looks at the goals, the techniques, as well as the approaches applied in
the two different kinds of therapy. The primary objective of insight therapy is helping the patients
understand and gain insight of their behavior, thought, and feelings. The main purpose of action
therapy, on the other hand, is to change poor or inappropriate behavior and correct it so that the
individual acts in a normal way. Insight therapy involves various techniques (Glaser, 2000). These
include psychodynamic therapy, person centered therapy as well as Gestalt therapy. Action therapy, on
the other hand, focuses on methods such as behavior therapy, cognitive ... Show more content on

Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Essay
Psych: Drug Addiction
The meeting I attended was held in Millersville University at Lehr Hall at 9:30 Am. I attended the
meeting alone and was initially very hesitant and uncomfortable with the idea. At the beginning not
unexpected occurred really happened. It appeared to be a very informal meeting that everyone seemed
to already be acquainted. All the members directed each other by name and I was welcomed by, what
seemed to be, a regular attendee as well as a new member. I sat down and initiated conversation with
the member next to me. She informed me that she goes to multiple meetings and this was her first time
at the specific location. She asked me of my major and other information. A member of the group,
who seemed to be the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This put the topic more towards forgiveness rather than anything else. The only topic discussed, as I
recall, was forgiveness. Many members gave their accounts of moments in which they felt sorry and
how they handled the situation. I will refrain from going into further detail about any of the members
of the group to keep their anonymity. The meeting concluded with the serenity prayer. I was not
familiar with this prayer so I just held the hands of those near me and bowed my head out of respect.
Specific attendees of the meetings appeared more active and attentive than others. Some of them
seemed as though they did not want to be there and looked miserable. About one or two of the
members even fell asleep a couple of times. Maybe some members went because they had to or
because they just wanted to help tell themselves that they are trying. This really interested me because
it is important to take notice that some people go and progress due to being active and others are just
forced. In the case of being forced it is very easy to go to the meeting and just not be attentive or
active. During the meeting I felt very enlightened. The topic of forgiveness is very broad and is even
relevant in my own life. The viewpoint on the topic was very different and interesting. They talked
more about being forgiving of ourselves because we are the ones that cause ourselves to react
negatively to life s daily hassles and stressors. They also spoke on the control

Importance Of Apple Trademarks And Patents
1 Why are trademarks and Patents so important to a company like Apple? What benefits do they
provide? What kind of role did Apple patents play in its case against Samsung?
Trademarks and Patents are important to big companies like Apple because the trademark gives them
the right to decide who and who cannot use their patented invention. This benefits them because if
they were not to have the trademark, anyone could recreate their product without the company s
consent and make money off of the product and they can sue other companies with their patent. People
could resell Apples products in mass amounts legally without a patent. Apple s patent protected their
creative and inventive rights on their product. Against Samsung, it protected Apples creative rights
over their product, the Iphone. After Apple released their new Iphone, Samsung recreated it and
therefore they put themselves at risk of litigation. The Trademark law allowed Apple to sue both the
company and the distributors of the product because of recall.
2 How is Apple changing the field of Trademark protection? What is a non traditional trademark?
Why is Apple in pursuit of such trademark?
Apple is changing the field of Trademark protection because of the new exceptions involved in
Trademark protections. Now companies can defend their products patent for the shape and feel of it.
The Ipod shape Trademark has given Apple a new weapon to knock out the competition. This
Trademark is known as a non traditional

Javert, the inspector who chased Valjean, had one major turning point in Victor Hugo s novel.
Throughout the novel Javert hunted Valjean with a sense of justice and law. Javert believed in
enforcing society s law to such an extent it made him not think whether the laws were just. However,
throughout the novel it became evident that Javert not only wanted to follow the law, but also started
to enjoy hounding Valjean. Then, with a demonic and sensual pleasure, he settled down to enjoy

The Effects of Periodontal Disease on Arthrosclerosis Directly and Indirectly
Introduction
In the oral cavity, therapeutic edentulation, a treatment in which treating chronic diseases caused for
tonsillectomies or tooth extractions, sometimes taking all a patient s teeth, was common as a result of
the popularity of the focal infection theory. The theory of focal infection stated that center of sepsis
were responsible for the initiation and progression of a variety of inflammatory diseases such as
arthritis, peptic ulcers, and appendicitis (7). A countless number of teeth were removed due to this
theory, even if there was no true evidence of an infection and generally resulted in the initial
symptoms of patients never being relieved and the discrediting of theory. Recent progress in
classification and identification of oral microorganisms, and the realization that certain
microorganisms are normally found only in the oral cavity, have opened the way for a more realistic
assessment of the importance of oral focal infection. It has become increasingly clear that the oral
cavity can act as the site of origin for spreading of pathogenic organisms.
Periodontitis is a ubiquitous chronic inflammatory disease initiated by periodontal pathogenic bacteria
which accumulate as subgingival biofilms in periodontal pockets (4).

Theme Of Satan In Paradise Lost
Sympathy for Satan An Emotional Monster
(Analysis of Satan both psychological and physically as he is portrayed in Milton s Paradise Lost)
In John Milton s Paradise Lost, Satan is one of the major figures of the book. The poem s intense
focus on his temperament portrays psychological information of someone with a conflictive
personality, one that pushes and pulls at his emotions. Differing from his fellow fallen angels, he has
no regrets for his decisions and is a fearless leader, but in private his deeper, darker thoughts take hold.
Lisa Ampleman, a managing editor of the Cincinnati Review says he is not the absolute evil we may
have expected, and a sympathetic devil is a dangerous devil (Ampleman). This danger creates an
interesting story of the creation of man and how man came to fall just as Satan had. As ... Show more

One cannot help but believe that everything they do is for the greater good. As well as one cannot
deny the quest and thirst for power, humans constantly are driven by this thirst, driven to do evil
things to get what they want. Milton shows this side of Satan, the leader and epic hero of his own
story. Yet tragedy befalls him and he lays victim to his own pride and greed, making him the villain as
well. Satan knows this to be true and inevitable in the eyes of God. Satan says them himself through
his soliloquies. Barbara Lewalski, author of Paradise Lost and the Rhetoric of Literary Forms says that
Satan s soliloquy here still carries with it the literary significance in terms of his position in the poem,
the often insightful and emotional confession, as well as the overall impact of the tragedy itself
(Lewalski). In the end, Satan can t be a hero, and leaves him to take on the role of the villain because

Family Formation And Structure Of The Nuclear Family
Combining the multitude of factors that contribute to family formation and structure parallels to
mixing ingredients to make a soup that does not always come out with the same taste, as even with the
same contributing factors such as race, gender, and social, economic, and political pressure, one
family can greatly differ from another. The ideology of the nuclear family shape clashed with my
family s more extended and traditional family structure, and upon arrival to the United States from
Korea, initially resulted in opaque gendered behavior and thinking along with muddled male and
female constructs. As the family s stay continued, the idea and shape of the nuclear family began to
whittle away at my grandparents and father s initial ideals, albeit at a different pace. As a result of my
grandparents directing joining the workforce and contributing, the nuclear family ideals had little
influence; on the other hand, my father, after growing up through schooling and having more in depth
experience with American culture, was more affected, and the transition into the ideology of the
nuclear family was nearly complete after having children. As my father came to be the main
breadwinner of the family, the nuclear family shape and ideology was fortified and increasingly
embraced, as my dad was pressured to provide, which promoted male dominance within the
household.
In order to comprehend and identify a family s ideals, it is important to know the structure first. My

Dr Jekyll And Hyde In The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And...
Every human being consists of qualities that form to either their good or bad side. No one is purely
good or evil. To try to fit in society, people are willing to do whatever it takes to hide any
characteristics that might fall short of the social norm. In Robert Louis Stevenson s novella, The
Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the characters demonstrate how every human being consists
of both qualities and how people suppress the qualities that are undesired by society in order to fit in.
However, after a while people can no longer stand to hide part of who they are which leads people to
substance use to take away their conscience in order to show their dark side.

People would rather be miserable and pretend to be someone else, than risk judged for who they really
are. In the novella, Stevenson uses Dr. Jekyll s experiment to show how far people are willing to go to
be freed from judgment of society. Dr. Jekyll conducted an experiment that split his personality into
two people, the good and evil side of him. Dr. Jekyll knew he was risking his life before he started but
he thought it would be worth it to get to be the other side of him for once. I hesitated long before I put
this theory to the test of practice. I knew well that I risked death. (57) Dr. Jekyll was willing to risk
everything to experience his other side. When Dr. Jekyll drank his chemical solution, he transformed
into Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde was completely free to be evil without his conscience telling him it was
wrong. No one really knew who Mr. Hyde was so he had no reason to fear judgment from others. He
was completely free to act as himself. This relates to the real world in that people use drugs and
alcohol to transform into their dark side. When using drugs or drinking alcohol, your body loses all
control over your consciousness. The substances are more powerful and led people to do things they
would normally not even think they are capable of and might regret when experiencing withdrawal of

Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born in 1806 in County Durham, England. She was the eldest of
twelve children born to Edward Barrett Moulin Barrett and Mary Graham Clarke. Elizabeth Barrett
Browning, or Ba , grew up in her family s estate Hope End, Henfordshire. They were part of the upper
middle class, owning a successful sugar trade.
Elizabeth began writing at a very early age. When she was twelve her father had her first epic poem
The Battle of Marathon privately printed (Radley 15). She referred to this work as Pope s Homer done
over again, or rather undone (28). Her diary at this time in her life offered glimpses into her perceptive
and expressive writing style.

Elizabeth suffered from many illnesses at this time. In 1838 her Uncle Samuel Barrett died and left her
an inheritance substantial enough to provide her with living expenses. The following year her favorite
brother Samuel nicknamed Bro , drowned. Elizabeth became depressed for some time.
The 1840s saw many famous works produced by Elizabeth. Some of these include The Cry of the
Children , De Profoundest and The Dead Pan . She also published Poems. Poems contained tributes to
famous poets Elizabeth revered such as Robert Browning and Henry Wordsworth. In 1845 Elizabeth
received her first letter from Robert Browning. He wrote in praise of her poetry. They corresponded
for several months, marrying in 1846. Their marriage was not welcome by her father. Her relationship
with him was never the same. The couple made their home in Florence, Italy. In Italy, Elizabeth
became interested in the country s politics. She hoped the country would unify. She expressed this
feeling in her Poems before Congress , published in 1860 (25).
In 1849, the Browning s welcomed their first and only child, Robert Wiedmeman Barrett Browning,

discussing what there would be in the sense of higher education, many ideas came about. The greatest
achievement in education in the Virgin Islands was the establishment of the College of the Virgin

teachers are underpaid in the Virgin Islands. There are so many reasons for the underpayment of the
teachers that are too numerous to mention. Teachers in the Virgin Islands Education Department are
paid in the salary range of $32,000 to $66,000 a year (3 7). These salaries compared to the national
average are not close to the usual pay rate for teachers. From previous learnings, teachers in the U.S.
are usually paid over $65,000 a year on average. Principals and Assistant Principals in the V.I.
Education Department are paid in the salary range of $70,000 to $95,000 a year (Staff). Department
heads think that there was some sort of budget cut along the way in order to justify receiving such low

Theme Of Language Devices In The Joy Luck Club
In The Joy Luck Club, language devices such as figurative language, diction, sentence structure, and
significant detail are used to characterize the different characters in the book. These language devices
capture the characters emotions, personality, qualities of mind, and goals. Amy Tan uses a variety of
language devices to characterize Ying ying s emotions of sorrow, disconnection, shame, love, her
passive, careless personality, and her quality of mind of determination.
The use of language devices creates Ying ying s emotions of sorrow and her passive personality and
quality of mind. Throughout the novel, Ying ying mentions that her daughter Lena and she are ghosts.
The ghost becomes a symbol of passivity, a symbol of not taking action to stop bad things from
happening. The ghost symbol creates Ying ying s voice by representing her passive personality and
quality of mind. Additionally, the author uses significant pieces of detail. In The Moon Lady, Ying
ying gets lost. She observes her shadow and describes it, It was shorter this time, shrunken and wild
looking. We ran together over to some bushes along a walkway and hid (80). This piece of detail
shows a personality shift in Ying ying. It describes the changes in Ying ying s shadow which
represents the change of her restless personality to a passive and silent one. Another language device
used is diction. When introducing The Moon Lady, Ying ying says, And I want to tell her this: We are
lost, she and I, unseen and not seen, unheard and not hearing, unknown by others (64). The words
unseen, unheard, and unknown are related to one another at a certain level, and they create a general
picture of Ying ying s emotion. Ying ying feels anguish for not doing anything in her whole life and
letting herself become a ghost. The diction also reveals Ying ying s anguish for letting her daughter
become a ghost like herself.
Language devices capture Ying ying s emotions of disconnection and her careless personality. Ying
ying starts to talk about her daughter Lena and the effect her passive personality has on her. Ying ying
explains how she lived in America, accepting everything that came her way and how she accepted
Lena s American ways. She says,

electrical systems are arranged, are responsible for killing people and in facilitating structural damage
to property.
2.2 Reason for Buildings Failure during Earthquake
Vertical and horizontal shaking from earthquakes and inertia of buildings that causes frequent changes
in building s weight, and the use of poor quality materials and massive structures are some of the
reasons for building failures. Greater the mass of building, more lateral force is exerted on buildings,
and this alone is the major component behind building damages. When there are no strong joint
components like walls, beam, column, roofs, slabs, in buildings, the buildings move independently on
their own direction, and velocity of their movements are dictated by the buildings weight and
orientation, and all these result in separation of a building. The separation of building components and
failure to support designed force is actually a building failure.

The Effect Of Heat Transfer Fluids Essay
1.3 Heat transfer fluids
Based fluid will meet your system s thermal requirements, you can choose between Heat transfer
fluids are those fluids which allow the heat to transfer through itself. This work surveys the veriety of
heat transfer fluids and the systems in which they are used .The fluids considered are those found in
process and energy application: water(vapour and liquid), gases, organic fluids, moltan salt, and liquid
metal. Refrigrents are not included. For completeness, the basic concept of heat transfer and
thermodynamics that apply are also presented along with pertinent relationship, table aur data and a
few illustration examples. these can be used in various forms gasous or liquid , mixture or simple
solution.Heat transfer fluid selection can involve complication, multi dimensional decisions where
factors such as thermal stability, pumpability, pressure requirements, and more must be weighed in an
effort to achieve the optimum balance of performance and economy in your particular system.
However, you may be able to narrow your range of options with a few basic decisions. First, choose a
synthetic organic fluid, a silicone fluid or an inhibited glycol based fluid based on your temperature
requirements. If your heat transfer application has a maximum use temperature requirement above
175˚C (350˚F), consider a synthetic organic or silicone fluid. For temperatures lower than 175˚C
(350˚F), or if you need freeze protection for a water based system,

Postmodern Deconstructionism In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
No matter what age or generation, people live in a world filled with opposition and conflict. Though
this sounds harsh and unforgiving, this description is completely and utterly accurate. In society,
people run into all sorts of oppositions without realizing it at all. For example, a person could walk
into a darkened room and flip on the light without stopping to ponder the conflict between light and
dark . These examples in our daily lives drones on and on from the difference between hot and cold
water to the difference between your phone when it is on or off. Though these types of oppositions
seem mundane to the average person, to a deconstructionist these distinct concepts are imperative in
deconstructing a text. When people describe deconstructing a text, they are referring to the
postmodern deconstructionism which focuses mainly on these oppositions and the type of relationship
they share. When referring to these oppositions, a deconstructionist uses the word binary which can be
found in literature of all types and through all sorts of literary interpretations. Alice Walker s Everyday
Use is no exception to this concept with its story focusing on lifestyle and heritage differences
displayed between the main characters. Though one can interpret Everyday Use as a story presenting
the two binary aspects of a traditional, heritage based, yet impoverished lifestyle and an affluent,
modern, yet forward thinking lifestyle as completely opposing concepts, one can

Surviving The Applewhites Analysis
In Surviving the Applewhites the main idea is, that with determination anything is possible. This is
shown in how the Applewhites, dedicated themselves to the production of The Sound of Music, even
when it was being canceled they didn t give up and put on the play in their own residence. The Von
Trapps relate to the theme because of how determined Captain Trapp was to stay true to himself and
not give into the Nazi s request. Despite the Von Trapps knowing that as soon as they finished their
performance in the Kaltzberg music festival their father or husband would be taken away, they still
sang beautifully determined to touch the hearts of the audience. The Applewhites were persistent in
doing the production their own way in Randolph s vision, and make the show amazing despite others
doubts. Both the Von Trapps and Applewhites, went through hardships and struggles, to be themselves
and to believe in what they wanted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While all of the Von Trapps could sing well and beautifully, none of the Applewhites can sing well.
Every bone in the Applewhite children s bodies is creative (including E.D), while all of the Von Trapp
children are as clumped as it gets. The Von Trapp children were raised and treated as if they were their
dad s sailors until Maria was there. the Applewhite children were raised freely and are treated as
adults, even at Destiny s age they allow him to make his own decisions. The two families were also
similar in how they both put on some kind of show in the arts for the Von Trapps it was the Kaltzberg
Festival, and for the Applewhites, it was their production of The Sound of Music. Even though both
families are very different, they are just as similar in many

Patriots Vs Loyalists Analysis
As a slave I would not want to be a part of the Patriots or the Loyalists, because no matter who I
choose both group of people will see me as a slave and not as a person. After being punished for
something that she did not do, Isabel went to fetch some water, and encounter some slaves that were
arguing about the war. The slaves fought between them and tried to convince themselves and the
others which side should they choose the Patriots or the Loyalists. However, an old man said British
or American, that is not the choice. You must choose your own side, find your road through the valley
of darkness that will lead you to the river Jordan (167). I agree with this quote because, that both
Patriots and Loyalists owen slaves and treated them

Economics
Introduction
The willingness of consumers to purchase a product or service is the fundamental source of profit for
any business. Understanding consumer behavior is the first step in making profitable pricing,
advertising, product design and production decisions. In order to make marketing decisions, managers
need to know how consumers choose the bundle of goods and services they actually purchase from all
possible bundles that they could purchase. Managers should be aware of the consumer choice process
when estimating the demand for the firms products, forecasting future demand, and making
advertising decisions.
Consumer Preferences
From all the goods or services available to them, buyers choose a combination of items we call a ...

It measures the number of units of Y that must be given up per unit of X added so as to maintain a
constant level of utility.
MRS = ΔY/ΔX
Figure 1. A typical indifference curve
The consumer is indifferent between combinations A (4food and 45clothing) and B (6food and 30
clothing). Thus the rate at which the consumer is willing to substitute is
MRS = ΔY/ΔX = 45 30 / 4 6 = 7.5
The MRS is 7.5, meaning that the consumer is willing to give up 7.5 units of clothing for each unit of
food added.
4. Indifference curves are the further from the origin, the greater level of utility associated with the
curve. Combinations of goods on higher indifference curves are preferred to combinations on lower
curves.
5. Indifference curves are everywhere dense. Theoretically, any number of such indifference curves
could be generated by slicing the utility surface at different altitudes so that the floor of the surface
might appear dense with concentric indifference curves. The collection of representative indifference
curves may be referred to as an indifference curve map.
Budget line
Consumers normally have limited incomes and goods are not free. Their problem is how to spend the
limited income in a way that gives the maximum possible utility. A budget line is the locus of all
combinations or bundles of goods that can be purchased at given prices if the

Social Effects Of Shintoism
Shintoism evolved out of folk religions, or cults which were developed from tradition and culture of a
community. For example, one of the religion that contributed to Shinto was Shugendo, where they
focused their teachings on pregnancy, childbirth, the location of lost articles, healing, the exorcism of
malevolent spirits, ancestral rites, and pilgrimages. (Jansen), emphasizing on external powers,
especially spirits of a deceased person. Another religion that was founded was Shingaku, the heart
learning religion. Shingaku was founded by Ishida Baigan, whom studied Buddhism, Taoism,
Confucianism, and incorporated those ideas from each religion to form an ultimate school. Due to the
fact that Shinto was based off of other folk religions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the eighteenth century, Buddhist temples had significant political power. The political and
social classes are closely correlated with those of religious ranks. The higher up one may be up in the
hierarchy of social classes, it is more likely that that person is an important figure religiously, such as
a monk or monasteries. Likewise, the temple s attestation was required for marriage, employment,
change of residence, and travel permits (Jansen), therefore the Buddhist temple acted as a sort of
government administration, according to emeritus professor of Japanese history at Princeton
University, Marius B. Jansen. Unlike the Yamatai Koku, men became rulers in each kingdom that
existed within Japan. The gender equality that was present in ancient Japan had changed and had
evolved into a male dominant society. Although Buddhism had a great amount of political and social
power in Japan, it lost its religious followers due to the amount of political powers it attained after the
Meiji Restoration in 1868, as religious ideas were less significant in the socio political system.
Buddhism was veering off into more of a government than it was a religion to guide people away from
suffering. Due to these reasons, many began following a folk religion, Shintoism, that pierced together
ancestor worship, portents, directions, and concern with a beneficent through capricious nature.
(Jensen), unlike what Buddhism had become by the eighteenth

Ethanol Vs Biofuels
Biofuels are better than traditional fuels because they decrease the national dependency on foreign
fuel. The Minnesota biofuel association provides the article ETHANOL AND REDUCING FOREIGN
OIL DEPENDENCY expressing how the dependency of fuels decrease due to biofuels. ethanol has
helped America lessen its dependency on foreign oil. In fact, increased production of renewable fuels
such as ethanol were key components of the Energy (1). Biofuel contains materials that are found
locally. Therefore, there would be no need to find fuels in foreign places. There would be no need to
go underground or under the sea to find fuels. It would also decrease the dangers many people put
themselves through in order to find the fuel. Also the article what

Virtual School Research Paper
Considering going to a virtual school? Well imagine this, you re sitting at your computer and you pick
up your phone and go onto Instagram. Your feed is blowing up with pictures from homecoming game
and dance, you feel left out seeing all your middle school friends having the time of their lives while
your stuck at home with your schoolwork. My point is students should not go to virtual high school
for an abounding amount of reasons including lack of structure and social opportunities.
Let me start off by saying virtual school has very minimal structure on students, they re allowed to set
their own schedules and students that have little or no motivation will procrastinate and push their
work off, resulting in lower work ethic coming from the student. With the little amount of structure
virtual schools give, parents will have to monitor their children more closely and frequently. This is a
major toll for parents with priorities or jobs that gather their time during the day on top of all of this,
the state curriculum has changed a multitude of times in the years. The adults may not know how to
help with the work since it s changed since they went to school, this will make it a lot harder for the
student not having anyone around to show them how the work works. An equally important point to
consider is not only is there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the student won t be getting the important one on one tutoring they need to get through
difficult work. Having someone who understands and can help you with the specific issue would
benefit all involved, it gives the student social interaction and the person helping a job. Therefore,
virtual schools are most definitely not the way, unless you want to miss out on developing key skills

Police Accountability
Throughout the past 50 years, there have been great changes in both the legal and constitutional status
of the police forces within England and Wales, (Reiner, 2010:206) and parallel to this, the concept of
accountability within the police forces has become a controversial yet universal concept with regards
to the encompassing regulation of the police, their performance and the use of their approved legal
powers (Jones, 2008). Specifically, within the last twenty years, many issues have triggered
controversy within the general public with reference to police accountability within England and
Wales, such issues including, corruption, abuse of powers, discrimination, racial bias, and the
perceived effectiveness of crime control. In turn, these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With each member obtaining their own function, and being unable to encroach on the duties of the
others, this was employed in order to guarantee that, whilst politics had its place within the policing
system, it would not be able to interfere with the professional duties of the police service and, most
critically, ensured that no singular government agent would be able to control the police for the gain of
others or of themselves. This Tripartite system is interlinked to the concept of constabulary
independence . In the past, such independence has allowed chief constables to direct their identifiable
forces with considerable self sufficiency, free from both accusations of political bias and bribery, with
the risk of criminal charges being brought against them being very minimal. Over the past 20 years,
many questions have been raised by police officers, politicians and the general public alike as to the
effectiveness of these arrangements. As a consequence, there have been many attempts of major
reform of the current procedures, with particular interest to the area of police governance (Home

  • 2. Circumstantial Evidence Analysis Evidence is every considerable type of proof legally presented at a trial it also must be approved by a judge. The reason why we use evidence is to help convince the judge or jury of supposed facts that relate to the case. Witnesses who testify, an expert who has information on certain fields of work, paperwork, records, photos etc. are all types of evidence that could be used in a case. Circumstantial evidence is evidence that aims to come to a conclusion by stating the cause while logically trying to prove the facts. The arguments and statements lawyers present to the judge and a judge who wants to make a statement can be ruled with an objection therefore it is not consider evidence. During a testimony a witness must swear under oath to say nothing but the truth that way her testimony can be considered the truth since they no way of know if it is the truth or not. The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children It s a girl! or It s a boy! is typically the first thing parents hear after the birth of a child. This simple statement of fact sets the groundwork for every interaction they will have with their daughter or son, and for every experience that child will have throughout her or his life. Gender identity the private experience of being female or male forms a core part of one s sense of self (Welker). The nature of this private experience is enormously influenced by what we are taught it means to be a girl or a boy, and these lessons are typically fraught with instances of gender bias what Beverly Stitt, author of Building Gender Fairness in Schools, defines as a set of beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our society, males are the preferred sex. Mothers show a 2:1 preference for male children, and fathers even more so (The Pinks and the Blues). Parents stereotype their child from birth: they think that boys are more alert, more coordinated, stronger, bigger, and less attentive, while girls are softer, weaker, and more attentive (Stockman). Research by Bloch at U. C. Berkeley revealed that parents encourage differences in their children; with sons, parents emphasize achievement and value independence and self reliance, while with daughters, parents emphasize proprieties and supervise their daughters activities more than their sons (The Pinks and the Blues). I observed a videotape, titled The Pinks and the Blues, of a family interview in which first the son and then the daughter were asked to solve a puzzle with their parents present. With the son, Dad emphasized the cognitive aspects of the task and checked for understanding, while Mom looked on. With the daughter, Dad emphasized the affective relationship (the father daughter interaction) and stressed that the important thing was to have fun, while Mom provided help to the point of interfering with the daughter s performance. Insight therapy and action therapy fall under psychotherapy. Psychotherapy refers to therapy of mental disorders, which involves the individual talking to a professional psychologist to solve his problem. This paper focuses on insight and action therapies. It looks at the goals, the techniques, as well as the approaches applied in the two different kinds of therapy. The primary objective of insight therapy is helping the patients understand and gain insight of their behavior, thought, and feelings. The main purpose of action therapy, on the other hand, is to change poor or inappropriate behavior and correct it so that the individual acts in a normal way. What kind of role did Apple patents play in its case against Samsung? Trademarks and Patents are important to big companies like Apple because the trademark gives them the right to decide who and who cannot use their patented invention. This benefits them because if they were not to have the trademark, anyone could recreate their product without the company s consent and make money off of the product and they can sue other companies with their patent. People could resell Apples products in mass amounts legally without a patent. Apple s patent protected their creative and inventive rights on their product. Against Samsung, it protected Apples creative rights over their product, the Iphone. After Apple released their new Iphone, Samsung recreated it and therefore they put themselves at risk of litigation. The theory of focal infection stated that center of sepsis were responsible for the initiation and progression of a variety of inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, peptic ulcers, and appendicitis (7). A countless number of teeth were removed due to this theory, even if there was no true evidence of an infection and generally resulted in the initial symptoms of patients never being relieved and the discrediting of theory. Recent progress in classification and identification of oral microorganisms, and the realization that certain microorganisms are normally found only in the oral cavity, have opened the way for a more realistic assessment of the importance of oral focal infection. It has become increasingly clear that the oral cavity can act as the site of origin for spreading of pathogenic organisms. • 20. Theme Of Language Devices In The Joy Luck Club In The Joy Luck Club, language devices such as figurative language, diction, sentence structure, and significant detail are used to characterize the different characters in the book. These language devices capture the characters emotions, personality, qualities of mind, and goals. Amy Tan uses a variety of language devices to characterize Ying ying s emotions of sorrow, disconnection, shame, love, her passive, careless personality, and her quality of mind of determination. The use of language devices creates Ying ying s emotions of sorrow and her passive personality and quality of mind. Throughout the novel, Ying ying mentions that her daughter Lena and she are ghosts. The ghost becomes a symbol of passivity, a symbol of not taking action to stop bad things from happening. The ghost symbol creates Ying ying s voice by representing her passive personality and quality of mind. Additionally, the author uses significant pieces of detail. In The Moon Lady, Ying ying gets lost. She observes her shadow and describes it, It was shorter this time, shrunken and wild looking. We ran together over to some bushes along a walkway and hid (80). This piece of detail shows a personality shift in Ying ying. It describes the changes in Ying ying s shadow which represents the change of her restless personality to a passive and silent one. Another language device used is diction. When introducing The Moon Lady, Ying ying says, And I want to tell her this: We are lost, she and I, unseen and not seen, unheard and not hearing, unknown by others (64). The words unseen, unheard, and unknown are related to one another at a certain level, and they create a general picture of Ying ying s emotion. Ying ying feels anguish for not doing anything in her whole life and letting herself become a ghost. The diction also reveals Ying ying s anguish for letting her daughter become a ghost like herself. Language devices capture Ying ying s emotions of disconnection and her careless personality. Ying ying starts to talk about her daughter Lena and the effect her passive personality has on her. Ying ying explains how she lived in America, accepting everything that came her way and how she accepted Lena s American ways. She says, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Manmade infrastructures are however the major contributor of casualties during earthquake devastations. These structures therefore should be carefully designed and constructed. Greater the mass of building, more lateral force is exerted on buildings, and this alone is the major component behind building damages. • 25. Postmodern Deconstructionism In Alice Walker s Everyday Use No matter what age or generation, people live in a world filled with opposition and conflict. Though this sounds harsh and unforgiving, this description is completely and utterly accurate. In society, people run into all sorts of oppositions without realizing it at all. For example, a person could walk into a darkened room and flip on the light without stopping to ponder the conflict between light and dark . These examples in our daily lives drones on and on from the difference between hot and cold water to the difference between your phone when it is on or off. Though these types of oppositions seem mundane to the average person, to a deconstructionist these distinct concepts are imperative in deconstructing a text. When people describe deconstructing a text, they are referring to the postmodern deconstructionism which focuses mainly on these oppositions and the type of relationship they share. When referring to these oppositions, a deconstructionist uses the word binary which can be found in literature of all types and through all sorts of literary interpretations. Alice Walker s Everyday Use is no exception to this concept with its story focusing on lifestyle and heritage differences displayed between the main characters. Though one can interpret Everyday Use as a story presenting the two binary aspects of a traditional, heritage based, yet impoverished lifestyle and an affluent, modern, yet forward thinking lifestyle as completely opposing concepts, one can ... • 26. Surviving The Applewhites Analysis In Surviving the Applewhites the main idea is, that with determination anything is possible. This is shown in how the Applewhites, dedicated themselves to the production of The Sound of Music, even when it was being canceled they didn t give up and put on the play in their own residence. The Von Trapps relate to the theme because of how determined Captain Trapp was to stay true to himself and not give into the Nazi s request. Despite the Von Trapps knowing that as soon as they finished their performance in the Kaltzberg music festival their father or husband would be taken away, they still sang beautifully determined to touch the hearts of the audience. The Applewhites were persistent in doing the production their own way in Randolph s vision, and make the show amazing despite others doubts. Patriots Vs Loyalists Analysis As a slave I would not want to be a part of the Patriots or the Loyalists, because no matter who I choose both group of people will see me as a slave and not as a person. After being punished for something that she did not do, Isabel went to fetch some water, and encounter some slaves that were arguing about the war. The slaves fought between them and tried to convince themselves and the others which side should they choose the Patriots or the Loyalists. However, an old man said British or American, that is not the choice. You must choose your own side, find your road through the valley of darkness that will lead you to the river Jordan (167). • 28. Economics Introduction The willingness of consumers to purchase a product or service is the fundamental source of profit for any business. Understanding consumer behavior is the first step in making profitable pricing, advertising, product design and production decisions. In order to make marketing decisions, managers need to know how consumers choose the bundle of goods and services they actually purchase from all possible bundles that they could purchase. Managers should be aware of the consumer choice process when estimating the demand for the firms products, forecasting future demand, and making advertising decisions. It measures the number of units of Y that must be given up per unit of X added so as to maintain a constant level of utility. MRS = ΔY/ΔX Figure 1. A typical indifference curve The consumer is indifferent between combinations A (4food and 45clothing) and B (6food and 30 clothing). Thus the rate at which the consumer is willing to substitute is MRS = ΔY/ΔX = 45 30 / 4 6 = 7.5 The MRS is 7.5, meaning that the consumer is willing to give up 7.5 units of clothing for each unit of food added. 4. Indifference curves are the further from the origin, the greater level of utility associated with the curve. Combinations of goods on higher indifference curves are preferred to combinations on lower curves. 5. Indifference curves are everywhere dense. Theoretically, any number of such indifference curves could be generated by slicing the utility surface at different altitudes so that the floor of the surface might appear dense with concentric indifference curves. The collection of representative indifference curves may be referred to as an indifference curve map. Budget line Consumers normally have limited incomes and goods are not free. • 30. Social Effects Of Shintoism Shintoism evolved out of folk religions, or cults which were developed from tradition and culture of a community. For example, one of the religion that contributed to Shinto was Shugendo, where they focused their teachings on pregnancy, childbirth, the location of lost articles, healing, the exorcism of malevolent spirits, ancestral rites, and pilgrimages. (Jansen), emphasizing on external powers, especially spirits of a deceased person. Another religion that was founded was Shingaku, the heart learning religion. Shingaku was founded by Ishida Baigan, whom studied Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and incorporated those ideas from each religion to form an ultimate school. The political and social classes are closely correlated with those of religious ranks. The higher up one may be up in the hierarchy of social classes, it is more likely that that person is an important figure religiously, such as a monk or monasteries. Likewise, the temple s attestation was required for marriage, employment, change of residence, and travel permits (Jansen), therefore the Buddhist temple acted as a sort of government administration, according to emeritus professor of Japanese history at Princeton University, Marius B. Jansen. Unlike the Yamatai Koku, men became rulers in each kingdom that existed within Japan. The gender equality that was present in ancient Japan had changed and had evolved into a male dominant society. Although Buddhism had a great amount of political and social power in Japan, it lost its religious followers due to the amount of political powers it attained after the Meiji Restoration in 1868, as religious ideas were less significant in the socio political system. Buddhism was veering off into more of a government than it was a religion to guide people away from suffering. Due to these reasons, many began following a folk religion, Shintoism, that pierced together ancestor worship, portents, directions, and concern with a beneficent through capricious nature. • 32. Virtual School Research Paper Considering going to a virtual school? Well imagine this, you re sitting at your computer and you pick up your phone and go onto Instagram. Your feed is blowing up with pictures from homecoming game and dance, you feel left out seeing all your middle school friends having the time of their lives while your stuck at home with your schoolwork. My point is students should not go to virtual high school for an abounding amount of reasons including lack of structure and social opportunities. Let me start off by saying virtual school has very minimal structure on students, they re allowed to set their own schedules and students that have little or no motivation will procrastinate and push their work off, resulting in lower work ethic coming from the student. With the little amount of structure virtual schools give, parents will have to monitor their children more closely and frequently. This is a major toll for parents with priorities or jobs that gather their time during the day on top of all of this, the state curriculum has changed a multitude of times in the years. The adults may not know how to help with the work since it s changed since they went to school, this will make it a lot harder for the student not having anyone around to show them how the work works. An equally important point to consider is not only is there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Police Accountability Throughout the past 50 years, there have been great changes in both the legal and constitutional status of the police forces within England and Wales, (Reiner, 2010:206) and parallel to this, the concept of accountability within the police forces has become a controversial yet universal concept with regards to the encompassing regulation of the police, their performance and the use of their approved legal powers (Jones, 2008). Specifically, within the last twenty years, many issues have triggered controversy within the general public with reference to police accountability within England and Wales, such issues including, corruption, abuse of powers, discrimination, racial bias, and the perceived effectiveness of crime control. Over the past 20 years, many questions have been raised by police officers, politicians and the general public alike as to the effectiveness of these arrangements.
