Mirari Marzol completed her practicum period teaching 5th grade English at her former primary school. It was challenging since the students were accustomed to a different teaching style, but both the students and teacher adapted well. The experience allowed Mirari to apply what she had learned in her studies and develop her teaching skills. Both she and the students found the experience meaningful, and it helped Mirari grow as an educator and influenced her future goals. Overall, Mirari was satisfied with how she conducted the practicum and felt it was a valuable learning experience.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

My reflection on Primary School Practicum Period
I have finished my practicum period on ‘Vicente López y Planes’ Primary School.
This is the school where I studied when I was a child and it is the only Primary
School of my town. When I was a teenager I coursed high school at this school,
because it functioned for Secondary too. In 2011 the government built a new
building for Secondary level.
The original aim of this practicum period was to show my teaching skills in Primary
level. I chose 5th
grade in order to do my practicum period and although I am used
to teaching children of this age, it was a challenge for me because I did not know
the students and they are used to another way of working. However, it was a great
experience and now that I have finished this period I can say that the objectives,
activities and resources I used were coherent with a pedagogical perspective
because all these aspects allowed me to reach the aims.
I can say that this experience was significant for the students because they could
know a different teacher as well as a different learning environment. They could
experience a way of learning to which they weren’t used to but they liked it and I
could see they felt really motivated with the process. I strongly believe that this was
a significant period that they will always remember.
In order to develop this experience I had to appeal to the knowledge I have
acquired from the different subjects I have coursed on the previous years and I also
had to put into practice my teaching skills and attributes. I have learnt a lot through
the different subjects and all this knowledge has been really useful on my
practicum period.
2. If I have to say what I have learnt from this experience I would say that I have learnt
that sometimes students use their skills and knowledge to adapt themselves to
different teaching styles. What do I mean with this? I mean that I could observe
that my students could adapt themselves to my teaching style that is completely
different to their teacher’s style, and they could spend a great period with me.
Honestly, if I had the chance to develop this experience again I will not change
anything. I don’t know if I’m right or wrong but I believe I did a great job and this
fills me with proud. When I started the period I was afraid and nervous because the
local teacher doesn’t use English in class, but after the first lesson I could see that it
wasn’t a problem because children understood me really well. So as I said before in
my reflection of Kindergarten, speaking English the whole lesson is an aspect that I
won’t definitely change.
My experience in Primary School will definitely influence my future goals and
pedagogical decisions because it is an enriching experience. I believe that each
experience in life will influence on my future.
My practicum Period on Primary School was really important for me because it was
a new experience. Although I teach English at home, I had never worked at school
so it is a new experience that helped me grow and gave me the possibility to
explore a different environment and know different learning styles.
I have to say that I am really satisfied with the way I developed this practice
because I could see that it was meaningful for students and I also received a good
feedback from the local teacher. I believe that this experience not only helped me
grow as a teacher but it also helps me improve my intellectual and ethical
development. This period was a good way to show myself as a teacher and it gave
me the opportunity to put into practice my skills. During this experience I felt great
and proud.
To finish my reflection I have to say that, although I thought the fact that the local
teacher doesn’t speak enough English would be a problem, it wasn’t a big deal
because I could deal with it. In the classroom we will always face some problems or
difficulties but it is important to think there is always a possible solution.
