FINAL REFLECTION
TEACHING IS ONE BIG
ADVENTURE
2
Thinking retrospectively, I can say that the development of this project had a hard
and constantly effort, since I had to be well organized to divide time between the
organization with work, the house, the family and the practicum.
Preparing all the material for the different lessons was a very interesting and
motivating challenge.
I really loved to be more creative than usual, I always imagined what kind of things
will get the children's attention and I tried to do it. It helped me to enrich the learning
process motivating the children for the acquisition of the second language.
The topic I used for all the lessons was "the family", it was been proposed thanks to
the courseteacher. The schoolin that month celebrates the family month. I think that
the main goal of this experience moreover ofteaching a second language was to give
the opportunity to all the children as students ofthe schoolto learn asecond language
from an early age, and I think that it was a great opportunity to show the importance
of teaching ESL in the childhood and to articulate this important subject with their
everyday life.
On the other hand, I believe that giving the opportunity to learn the language at this
age through meaningful activities or games and songs and incorporate it to their
routines was a great chance for the teacher and the children to assimilate it in a
natural way.
The observations helped me to deeply understand the group and how they work and
learn. The teacher provided me all the necessary help to develop my activities and I
realized that they had an active participation with the her. It was also really enjoyable
becauseall of the students had the flexibility to learn another language more quickly
and were usually very enthusiastic with the new activities and the colorful material
I showed to them.
3
Besides creating new, colorful and meaningful material to start
with the lessons I had to learn to incorporate new ways and
techniques of work because it was my first time teaching little
kids so I had to learn songs, chants and poems that helped me
to enrich my lessons, making them more attractive.
I can say that the practicum helped me to understand how the
children really learn a new language through the play or the help
of songs.
All the activities made me realize how easy is for little children
learn a second language and how they acquire new vocabulary in suchan enjoyable
way.
All the activities were as simple and short as possible, because the students do not
have long attention spans and are easily distracted so I tried to be most interesting
possible and use colorful and attractive material all times. Like most of the students
the children have a hard time sitting still during class so I plan activities that let them
move around to look for their things or pointed things that they want to show to
make a relationship between a new word.
Thinking inward I finished my practicum
experience and it made me feel happy, relaxed
and satisfied with my work. I realize that all
the material we had read and the information
we had learnt in Didáctica was really
important and significant in this process. All the theories and materials join with the
resources I had studied in Didáctica help me to choosethe correct way to write and
4
plan each lesson. It helped me to reflect and think in different points of view at the
moment of teaching a second language.
I think was a fantastic experience and hard work. Ifelt anxiety and nervousness about
the practicum because it was my first time in front of little children, I was a bit lost
at the beginning because I felt that I did not know what to do but when I started to
revise all the materials and could put into practice it was different. All the resources
the teacher presented us make me feel more confident.
I believe that the practicum and the material I have studied and used for
each lesson had contributed to enriched my pedagogical
perspective.
I made all my lessons taking into account socio
constructivism theory and Dr. Howard Gardner's Theory
of Multiple Intelligences because I think both of them are related and
works very well together. I tried to encourage the different areas of learning because
not everyone learns in the same way, byusing games, movement and song, all things
that moststudents enjoy when they are learning new things, in that way it was a fun
and positive experience. The environment of play and games is a relaxed
environment and allows the students to learn without the stress or fear of possible
failure.
I believe that I understood how important is, for all, teachers and students to work in
confidence and respectful environment always based on a coherent and meaningful.
I tried to give and apply to each teaching practices varied and colorful resources, I
believe that I created zones of proximal development (ZPD), by sharing with peers
and interacting in a social context.
5
To reflect on the world around us, I think that in all areas it is very important to
have groups that give the necessary support and motivation to contribute in the
exchange of information, experiences, ideas, that
helps in the teaching process. The good
relationships benefits the environment in where we
work emotionally ,professionally and meaningfully
since it helps to enrich our work and knowledge in
a collaborative and critically way.
I believe that as EAL teachers we have to know
about children's development, needs and interests.
We will provide opportunities to explore the environment and materials, to develop
problem-solving techniques by promoting creativity and EAL through playful and
multimodal activities. Making everyday lessonwith colorful resources formeaning-
making, discovering, creating, listening to stories and playing.
I think that teachers have the potential to interact with students at all stages of
development. A great teacher wants to help students along this path and to play an
important role in the person they will become.
Teaching is more than a job, it is an important contribution we can make to improve
our society, and I am excited about the opportunity to do so.
I think that providing opportunities to young children through creativity and playful
learning experiences, is the way to help them to develop their different skills.
As teachers, we have in our hands the responsibility to create different opportunities
to explore with children ́s experiences
and their natural way of learning.
6
CONCLUSION
After finished my practicum I have to emphasize that as teachers we must
work hard to make all the students wonder, to make them question, to make them
think critically, to make them share their experiences and to make them be creative
and participative.
I will expect every one of my students to want to learn and more importantly to
understand.
I think that all the material proposed through Didactica helped to develop our skills
in teaching practice. As teachers we must be able to see each child as a challenge,
helping them to recognize and develop their strengths and encouraging them to lead
their weakness.
We must find a way to encourage children to be interested in learning, inspiring
and reinforcing their motivation, curiosity and creativity.
I can conclude by saying that through my practicum experience I’ve gained
confidence in my learning and role as a future English teacher for very young
learners.

  • 4. 4 plan each lesson. It helped me to reflect and think in different points of view at the moment of teaching a second language. I think was a fantastic experience and hard work. Ifelt anxiety and nervousness about the practicum because it was my first time in front of little children, I was a bit lost at the beginning because I felt that I did not know what to do but when I started to revise all the materials and could put into practice it was different. All the resources the teacher presented us make me feel more confident. I believe that the practicum and the material I have studied and used for each lesson had contributed to enriched my pedagogical perspective. I made all my lessons taking into account socio constructivism theory and Dr. Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences because I think both of them are related and works very well together. I tried to encourage the different areas of learning because not everyone learns in the same way, byusing games, movement and song, all things that moststudents enjoy when they are learning new things, in that way it was a fun and positive experience. The environment of play and games is a relaxed environment and allows the students to learn without the stress or fear of possible failure. I believe that I understood how important is, for all, teachers and students to work in confidence and respectful environment always based on a coherent and meaningful. I tried to give and apply to each teaching practices varied and colorful resources, I believe that I created zones of proximal development (ZPD), by sharing with peers and interacting in a social context.
  • 5. 5 To reflect on the world around us, I think that in all areas it is very important to have groups that give the necessary support and motivation to contribute in the exchange of information, experiences, ideas, that helps in the teaching process. The good relationships benefits the environment in where we work emotionally ,professionally and meaningfully since it helps to enrich our work and knowledge in a collaborative and critically way. I believe that as EAL teachers we have to know about children's development, needs and interests. We will provide opportunities to explore the environment and materials, to develop problem-solving techniques by promoting creativity and EAL through playful and multimodal activities. Making everyday lessonwith colorful resources formeaning- making, discovering, creating, listening to stories and playing. I think that teachers have the potential to interact with students at all stages of development. A great teacher wants to help students along this path and to play an important role in the person they will become. Teaching is more than a job, it is an important contribution we can make to improve our society, and I am excited about the opportunity to do so. I think that providing opportunities to young children through creativity and playful learning experiences, is the way to help them to develop their different skills. As teachers, we have in our hands the responsibility to create different opportunities to explore with children ́s experiences and their natural way of learning.
  • 6. 6 CONCLUSION After finished my practicum I have to emphasize that as teachers we must work hard to make all the students wonder, to make them question, to make them think critically, to make them share their experiences and to make them be creative and participative. I will expect every one of my students to want to learn and more importantly to understand. I think that all the material proposed through Didactica helped to develop our skills in teaching practice. As teachers we must be able to see each child as a challenge, helping them to recognize and develop their strengths and encouraging them to lead their weakness. We must find a way to encourage children to be interested in learning, inspiring and reinforcing their motivation, curiosity and creativity. I can conclude by saying that through my practicum experience I’ve gained confidence in my learning and role as a future English teacher for very young learners.
