Andrea Cantaroni completed her teaching practicum at Primary School No. 75, where she taught English to fourth graders. She felt nervous at first but found that preparing detailed lesson plans helped her teach effectively. The students engaged well with the lessons on parts of the house and colors. Going forward, Cantaroni wants to incorporate more interactive activities and technological tools. She believes the experience has helped her learn how to adapt lessons to different student groups and use various pedagogical strategies and resources. The peer and tutor feedback in the online forum also helped her improve. Overall, Cantaroni feels the practicum was a valuable learning experience that will help her continue developing as a teacher.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. Some time ago, I asked for permission to do my teaching practicum at Primary School Nº
75 “Ciriaca Palau de Laspiur”, because it is a very appreciated and recognized institution
inthe community. It is an institution supported by the State, but many other institutions
support it as well, such as "Sindicato de Obreros Metalúrgicos".
The principal of the school is Adriana Lamas, who assigned me to the fourth grade and
introduced me to the teacher in charge of the group, Mariela Moteprieta. They were very
kind and helpful with me throughout this period.
The course was formed by twenty-six students aged ten. It was a nice group of very young
students and it was my first teaching practicum experience.Another important
characteristicof this group is that they had very good behaviour, this helped me organise
and develop the activities in a better way. I could see that they behaved very well when
they were busy doing the tasks such as whitening a short text , but when they were not
working because they had finished, they started to behave badly. In those cases, I
suggested they did other tasks in order to go on working .
In order to work with the group, I focused on the students’ characteristics and preferences
and the theories I had worked with during the course of studies.
In my lessons, I used a variety of topics such as the family, colours and others. I worked
very hard in order to plan a lesson according to the age, their learning style and their
knowledge about their context.
I realised that planning the lessonswas a fundamental and basic tool in order to reach a
successful result in my teaching practicum. I spent a lot of time preparing the lesson plans,
the classes and the different resources in order to use them correctly.

THINKING BACK
4. The day I started my first teaching practicum class, I felt nervous and anxious about
itbecause I had a lot of expectations .I had to face an important part of mycourse of
studies, my teaching practicum. Irealised that the theory I learned helped me a lot and
were very useful at each stage of the teaching practicum.Actually, I was afraid of being in
front of a group of very young students teaching them a foreign language and being
observed and assessed at the same time.
The original aim of my experience was to learn how to apply in the classroom all the varied
theories from different authors such as from Piaget and many others , pedagogical
resources , such as visual aids , pictures , an appropriate context according to the level
,age and many other important factors to be considered. And also ,I could use the four
different language skills in the class ,such as writing, reading and writing that I have learnt
along the course of studies.
My main fear was the organization of each class in order to stimulate children to work and
feel comfortable when they are learning a second language. I prepared the lesson plan
with a presentation , then I started with different activities and the closure that it was
related with the rest of the lesson plan. During this experience, I think I reached my
objectives, because when I presented a new topic related to parts of the house, I did so
taking into account a meaningful context, because I worked with a story about a character
called Zappy and his friends. Children felt engaged in each part of the story
astheyparticipated a lot and also they learnt quickly new lexis through many
communicative activities such as describing Zappy and interacting with different pairs .
The pedagogical resources were very useful to me to teach the new topic. After that we
started with the following topic, colours, and they were alsoinvolved in each activity. It was
very significant for both children and me because when I presented a new topic they
responded with enthusiasm and they worked a lot waiting anxiously for the next activity.
They had a positive attitude towards the activities and they worked a lot during the class.
Ilearnt withthis experience because I can see how students respond positively when the
class is organized and it has a logical sequence of activities. In addition, I learnt how to
plan a lesson so it was a great learning opportunityfor me.

5. THINKING FORWARD
Now that I finished my teaching practicum, I feel that I have a lot of aspects to improve. The
lessons I gave at primary school helped me to learn how to work at this level and also how
to use the different pedagogical tools that I have learnt during the course of studies. And
also in the future I want to use the different technological tools such as power point ,
slide, prize or others. I enjoyed working in class with students because they were eager to
work. The group were very anxiousand demanding, they did not want to wait for their
classmates to finish the activities.
In the future, I would like to be more dynamic and give more activities such as to prepare
more interactive and communicative activities because when a group finished the task,
they asked for me to check it. This experience of teaching at this level influenced my future
teaching experiences in other levels. I think that I have to adapt my objectives according to
the group of students and their contexts. In the future I‘d plan the activities according to
them in order to be successful. Also, the motivation and climate are very important to
encourage the students to work with enthusiasm and happiness.
THINKING INWARD
My personal belief about this experience is that it was meaningful to me as a teacher
because I learnt many pedagogical strategies, while, at the same time, I learnt how to
apply each one of them in my lesson plans. I have also learnt how to adapt the lesson plan
according to the group of students. I have enjoyed a lot working with children, but I
acknowledge that Ihave to prepare very well in order to be successful. It is important to
use a variety of pedagogical resources in the classroom because, this way, students get
more easily involved.
THINKING OUTWARD
This practicum at Primary school was an important part of my teaching career. In order to
do the practicum, Iwas helped by the peer corrections in each lesson plan and bythe forum
and the tutors' corrections.
Atthe beginning, it was a challenge to take into account so many things at the sametime,
but then I started to learn how to organise each part of the class or how to correct the
lessons plan in order to reach the requirements provided by the tutors. I shared many
doubts in the forum, for example, how to follow the guidelines, because I read the
instructions many times, but it was difficultfor me to organisemyself.
Now, I can understand the instructions more and Iam also trying to follow them carefully.
In the forum, I could share experiences with my peers and tutors. Thanks tothat, I began to
feel more confident and even able to give some suggestions to my mates. I consider that
all the situations that my peers faced are possible problems that I may face in the future,
so the forum was extremely useful.

CONCLUSION
6. In conclusion, now that I finished this second period of my teaching practicum, I can say
that I feel encouraged to go on working in this training with enthusiasm and energy
because I felt happy withthis experience. I enjoyed these English classes because I really
had an unforgettable teaching experience. I realise my positive and negative aspects of
my teaching practicum. I want to be able to take into account the positive aspects I
learned from this interesting experience and continue working in order to improve in the
future.
To sum up, this second teaching practicum has been a great experience for me as a
teacher. Now, I believe that I can continue using different tools that the course of studies
provided me to improve all my teaching in every course.
