The book Orchid of the Bayou was eye opening. Cathryn (Kitty) Hoffpauir Fischer did a good job
of being honest, which really allowed the reader to get a better understanding of what being deaf in
this time period meant. Her writing really allowed me to see the different struggles that deaf
children had to face, and how these struggles were overcome by Kitty. This book taught me many
things about Deaf culture. First, this book allowed me to see the negative way in which deaf
people were perceived. This book is not old by any means, and I was taken aback by the way deaf
children were perceived by not only others in the community, but often times by their own parents

This also discouraged some parents from enrolling their child because they did not want them to
be away for such long periods of time. Now schools for the deaf are more common, and deaf
children can attend mainstream public schools also; making it apparent that just because a child
is deaf does not mean that they are dumb by any means. Also, Kitty has a disease called Usher
Syndrome. Before reading this book I had never heard of it, and thus never realized how
common it really is. This disease takes away two vital senses; hearing and vision. Kitty really
opens up about her fears about losing her sight. The idea of total isolation is scary, without a
doubt, and in my opinion she handles it with more courage than I could have ever imagined.
Sign language is visual, and once Kitty loses her ability to see it will be very difficult to
communicate with her family, and nearly impossible to communicate with hearing people who
she most of the time needs an interpreter to communicate with anyways. I was very impressed by
Kitty s courage throughout her life. As a child she is extremely brave considering she in unable
to communicate with her family, and is very confused by most of what goes on in her life because

Procedure
The process of conducting research is to gather information that relates to your I search question.
The I search question that I am seeking answers to happens to be; what is the definition of family
in today s society? There are many methods of investigation that can be used to answer this question
, but I have limited it to eight methods. The eight methods I have chosen are going to give me in
depth information about my purposed I search question.
The first method of investigation for my I search project that would best help me gather
information for my project is interviewing both in person and by email. The interview process is
beneficial to my project because it gives me in depth and comprehensive information. The
interviews will consist of ordinary people in todays, society both younger and older the young will
be aged from four to thirty and old will consist of anyone over thirty. I am doing the interviews to
gain answers to my secondary questions which are based on gender and age. Also interviews
provide personal experiences and better understanding of the subject matter in this case family.
The second method of investigation will be scholarly journals. I am using journals because family
is a big topic to be covered and it has been discussed and written about over many years. Many

Abstract: A new CMOS clocked dynamic comparator using two input single output differential
amplifier as latch stage suitable for high speed analog to digital converters with the performance
of high speed, low power dissipation and low immune to noise. The conventional dynamic
comparator requires more power and has more delay. A conventional double tail dynamic
comparator consumes less power and works at high speed than its predecessor, the conventional
comparator. There is very much need to reduce the delay and power consumption which is
possible by strengthening the positive feedback during the regeneration. This can be achieved by
adding few transistors to the double tail dynamic comparator. Using the inverter based differential
amplifier to design a novel double tail comparator for reducing the no of transistors and better
characteristics. The performance of this method is to be analyzed with the existing two designs at
