Personality And Gender Essay
Personality, Gender and their Relationship in a Kinesiology Program A person can be defined in many
ways: sex, age, hair colour, weight, and most importantly personality. The personality of a person can
be a determining factor of many areas of a person s life. Personality can be a predictor of whether a
person likes or dislikes sports, how much schooling there will go through and what occupation a
person may chose. There are many aspects to a person s personality and there are an numerous ways
to determine a person s personality. One of the ways to determine an individual s personality is by
using The Big Five Model, which began with the research of D.W Fiske (1949) followed by a
numerous amount of other researchers: Norman (1967), Smith ... Show more content on

There have been many studies that have supported the hypothesis of the connection between the two.
Including one study that suggested that one can determine vocational interests by using different
personality tools and these ...alternative factors may provide direct indicators of individual s
preference for certain vocational interests... (Roberti, Fox Tunick, 2003, p.4). Furthermore, another
study that was preformed was one in which researchers attempted ...to examine the prediction of
career indecision using personality and vocational interests (Burns, Morris, Rousseau Taylor,2013
p.1). Additionally, the personality of a person literally affects every decision an individual makes and
there have been many studies that support theories similar to this. For example, personality and gender
can be used to predict grades, among other things, for first year post secondary students. There is a
relationship between a few personality traits and the quality of effort put forth by a first year post
secondary student. A personality trait like extroversion is significantly related to effort given by the
student in social and academic activities and males are less agreeable than woman (Bauer Liang, 2003,

Client/Server Network Model and Virtualization Network Model are the best. Virtualization is more
complex when compared to Client/Server Model and the training and maintenance costs are high
when compared to Client/Server Network Model. Peer to Peer Network Model is the least expensive
and stable network model but does not offer security and fast access to the shared resources. In
comparison the Client/Server Network Model and Virtualization Network Model provide high security
and fast access. Recovery and backup is also possible with Client/Server and Virtualization Models,

Horror Of The Horror Movie
Weenie. That is the word that comes to mind when I think about myself watching horror films. I am
the girl that shields her eyes, jumps at the slightest jump scare, and cringes at the tiniest amount of
gore. But contrary to what this previous information might tell you about myself, I love a good horror
movie. I believe there is nothing that can bring a group of friends together like a good ol scary film on
a crisp, Autumn night. A film that I discovered last Fall was The Babadook, written and directed by
Jennifer Kent. This film is a psychological horror, meaning it uses different twists and tricks to scare
you rather than using creepy creatures or gore. The main plot of this movie is about a widowed
mother, named Amelia who is still struggling with the effects the death of her late husband has on her
while she is raising their son, Samuel. The antagonist in this film is the monster, The Babadook, who
is the manifestation of the mother s depression. This film has become a favorite of mine because it
uses a monster to showcase how scary a very common, real life problem is. Samuel and Amelia live
alone in a small home in a quaint, Australian town. Samuel has proven to be a problem child as he is
always getting into some sort of mischief at school or at home. He also is still afraid that monsters are
living in his room even though Amelia tries everything she can to help him cope with his fears but
nothing seems to help and the failure just adds fire to her internal storm she has. One night she tries to
help calm Samuel by allowing him to pick out a book to read as a bedtime story. Sam picks out the
book Mister Babadook. Obviously, this book tells the tale about the real life monster The Babadook
and it scared the child so bad he just laid in his mother s lap and screamed the entire night. This
screaming fit drove Amelia crazy and was sort of the straw that broke the camel s back to send her
into her depressive state. In the days after they read Mister Babadook, Samuel blamed his mischievous
behavior on The Babadook as it was beginning its haunting. Amelia believes Sam is just up to his
usual antics until she too starts feeling strange things occurring in their lives. After getting rid

Benefits Of Going To College And Getting A Bachelor Degree
All high schoolers face the same daunting problem. What they are going to do with their lives. A
choice made as an 18 year old, determines future paths for the rest of their lives. Recently the subject
of going to college and getting a four year degree has become very controversial. HIgh school students
are choosing other alternatives, such as trade school, community college, or even not getting any
further education at all. However even with many other options, going to college and getting a
bachelor s degree is valuable for everyone. Going to college and getting a four year degree earns
individuals more money. Those people make 98% more an hour than those without degrees.
(Leonhardt 1) Over the course of a lifetime, a person with a bachelor s degree will make 1.1 million
dollars opposed to average of 393,000 over a lifetime of someone without a bachelor s degree. (Hamm
4) The more money one makes, the more opportunities one is offered. Traveling the world,
materialistic items, living location, providing for family, are all examples of opportunities requiring:
money. College let s one attain these opportunities by giving degrees that will earn people higher
paying jobs. A very big issue that people have with attending a four year college is the cost of college
tuition. College is very expensive. Even after paying a large sum of money, the average amount of
student loans is 30,000 dollars. (Bonder 1) The cost to get a bachelor s degree is 127,000 dollars.

The Pros And Cons Of Global Inequality
Global inequality is the state that the world s circumstances are unequal. Many people around the
world are facing this global issue happening. Throughout history, it is seen that ,all the provinces in
the world, have varying degrees of poverty. For my report, I will be focusing on Nepal (Asia) . Nepal
is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is home to Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world, and
another 7 mountains which are among the ten tallest mountains. Nepal s capital city is Katmandu. I
will be comparing Nepal to Australia. Australia (Commonwealth of Australia) is an island country
(Oceania). Surrounded by the Pacific and Indian oceans, it is the largest country in Oceania and 7th
largest country in the world. Australia s capital is Canberra but its economical capital is Sydney. There
are many essential aspects of life which include; income, education, food and water, health and
shelter. Income is money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments. The
weekly income of a laborer in Australia is $622.20 ($476.11 USD) whereas a Nepalese laborer would
make 2000 NPR ($19.31 USD) . Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic
instruction, especially at a school or university. The expected amount of schooling years in Nepal is
12.2 years. Now, compare that to 20.4 years in Australia. The average cost of living in Australia is
$2835 ($2169.31 USD) while the cost of living in Nepal is 500 1100 NRs ($4.83 $10.62

Medicine in Ancient Egypt
The world of medicine in Ancient Egypt is a cloud of mystery and very little is known other than what
has been salvaged from surviving papyri. What the papyri can tell one who examines them is that the
Egyptians had some knowledge of the anatomy and had constructed their own approaches to medical
issues. Compared to other civilizations such as the Babylonians and the Greeks, who used more
rational and logical approaches, Egyptian medicine might seem less sophisticated. In earlier clinical
writings there has been less magic mentioned than in later times, which could be due to the endurance
of the Old Kingdom boosting their confidence in the power of mankind and their king. So knowing
that the Egyptians relied very much on magic and the supernatural to provide them knowledge of the
ailments of the body, some of it was also the root of reason and plain common sense. With the passage
of time, new archaeological discoveries, increased knowledge of Egyptian language and writing, and
the appearance of more sophisticated medical techniques, new life was given to the study of disease
and health in the ancient Nile Valley. It was this period that saw the academic study of Egyptian
disease divided into three categories:
Most of what the world knows today about medicine in Ancient Egypt comes from the papyri that
have survived all these years; second is the study of the artistic representation of disease in the Nile
Valley; third, and perhaps most obvious, is the study of human

Essay on Intelligence Analysis
If you had that one piece of the puzzle that would have prevented the bombings of the twin towers in
New York and the Pentagon on September 11 2001 would you know it? If you saw someone do
something weird or suspicious before the attack on September 11 2001, would you have called the
police? If someone had walked into a United States Embassy in a foreign country and said that they
know someone was going to use a plane to destroy New York in two days, could this have stopped the
attack? Intelligence Analysis puts the raw sources of information together, make predictions based on
the data, and finally publish the results. Stephane Lefebvre wrote that intelligence analysis is the

underneath (Pillar).

Essay about Farming The Tambopata Reserve
Tambopata Peru is one of the poorest and most underdeveloped regions of Latin America. The area is
home to undernourished children, lack of secure work and education.
There is an imperative need not just for Tambopata, but all of Peru to increase its economy and enable
the access of basic needs to its citizens. While the area of Tambopata has many arguments for its
potential use, sustainable soybean cultivation is the best approach to improve Peruvian infrastructure,
economy and future preservation of natural areas.
There are many potential land uses for the Tambopata Reserve. One of which, that gains much
environmentalist backing, is slash and burn agriculture. While this method of agriculture has long
traditionally been employed and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same study, 3.3 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be lessened by 2020 through
sustainable soybean production. These methods allow for a reduction in overall costs due to decreased
overhead in both machinery and herbicide applications (Green, 2010).
Perhaps the greatest benefit of using conservation tillage soybean production over other potential land
uses is the consecutive insurance of high yields in small areas. Due to these high yields per hectare,
more land can be saved for the Tambopata Reserve and its inhabitants. Additionally, if soybeans that
were raised within the reserve were taxed, money can come back into the park to aid in its prosperity
and protection of the local soybean market. Many guidelines have been implemented in neighboring
Brazil and Paraguay to ensure both economic growth and rainforest protection that could be
implemented in Tambopata.
If soybean production were undertaken in Tambopata, the crops would be raised under World Wildlife
Federation and the Nature Conservancy s guidelines of Forest Friendly Soy (Schnoecker, 2007). This
means that at least eighty percent of farmers land must be preserved as forest to make up for the
twenty percent farmed. The World Wildlife Federation recently awarded Paraguay with the Leaders
for a Living Planet award in recognition of their Zero Deforestation Law, which prohibits the
conversion of forested to agricultural

Psilocybin Research Papers
Hallucinogens are a type of drug that cause hallucinations
Hallucinogens can be found in some plants and mushrooms or can be man made, and they are
commonly divided into two categories: classic hallucinogens (such as LSD) and dissociative drugs
(such as PCP).
Psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, and Salvia divinorum are commonly used research suggests that they
work at least partially by temporarily disrupting communication between neurotransmitter systems
throughout the brain and spinal cord that regulate mood, sensory perception, sleep, hunger, body
temperature, sexual behavior, and muscle control.

The Struggle Of Women By The Sherlock Holmes Stories By...
In crime fiction, many themes are encountered in crime stories, enabling the reader to reflect on the
cultural and moral values of the society. These stories discuss various topics such as race, ethnicity,
sexism, and femininity. In the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the independence
of women is shown as a conflict in society that must be solved and controlled by men. This may be
demonstrated by the poor representation of single women present in the Sherlock Holmes stories, such
as Mary Morstan and Irene Adler who are considered as a problem in this society, because they do not
have the presence of a male figure guiding them in their everyday lives. In the stories, the issues
caused by these women are redundantly resolved by marrying a man. This implies an unacceptable
prejudice towards the female gender.
Firstly, in the stories, single women who are alone appear to be problematic due to the lack of men in
their everyday lives. Mary Morstan is isolated, and must be saved by men, whereas Irene Adler is
presented as being a scandalous woman who must be restrained. As Mary Morstan first approaches
Holmes and Watson to state her case, she explains that her mother has deceased, her father has
disappeared, and that she does not have any other family member close by to be there for her,
therefore, she is alone. She says: My father was an Indian regiment, [...] My mother was dead, and I
had no relative in England. (Conan Doyle,

The Theories Of Economic Economics
Imagine a peaceful world where nobody argued about anything and everyone was at peace. That
would be nice, but not possible in reality. There is at least two sides to every story, or in this case two
sides to every subject. Economists have different views on the world, and they cannot agree on a
single viewpoint. There is the popular, mainstream economists, known as the neoclassical economist
and there are the heterodox economists which covers the nonmainstream views. Although the
mainstream economics is the one taught in school, its assumptions are there to achieve a certain
outcome. The heterodox economist s assumptions are based on the fact to eliminate extraneous
factors. I believe that heterodox economics will start to be considered more in the world of academics
and may take the place of the current mainstream economics.
The theories of consumption have different viewpoints. Neoclassical consumer theory is the
explanation of how consumers allocate incomes to the purchase of different goods and services. In
other words, it is how individuals make choices given their income and the price of goods and
services. This is how the neoclassical economist is able to understand tastes and how income
influences the demand curve. This view is the one that all major textbooks use and the type of
economics that students are taught. In the viewpoint of the neoclassical economist, consumers are
rational decision makers. The consumer behavior is best understood by

The Revolutions of 1848 Essay
The Revolutions of 1848
The Revolutions of 1848 have been described as the greatest revolution of the century 1. From its mild
beginnings in Palermo, Sicily in January 1848, it did not take long to spread across the rest of Europe
(Britain and Russia were the only countries not to experience such revolutions). In 1848 more states
on the European continent were overcome by revolution than ever before and ever since 2. The
Revolutions became more radical but after June 1848 these revolutionary events began to overlap with
those of counterrevolutionary actions, thus enabling the old regimes to return to power. 1848 was
described as a sunny spring of the peoples abruptly interrupted by the winter of the princes 3.

The situation was the same across central and west Europe. Revolutionaries found that the high hopes
they had held in 1848 were pushed aside by the reality of different aims. As a result the counter
revolution continued to develop and gain the upper hand, particularly in the Habsburg monarchy,
where rivalries within the monarchy itself and the confusion of competing national claims made
counter revolution easier, and in the Italian states where a lack of support had proved too powerful.
This division amongst revolutionaries was further heightened by the continued existence of social and
economic problems throughout Europe. It was these social problems which had helped bring about the
1848 Revolutions in the first place. In the 1840s there was increased food shortage and business
failure along with high unemployment, which had increased the dissatisfaction with the existing
conservative or moderate regimes. Although this economic discontent had not been enough on its own
to bring about the 1848 Revolutions, it definitely played a key part in their development and their
collapse. These problems were still apparent in 1848 and consequently took some of the focus away
from the revolutionaries cause. Along with the growing strain on food supplies and the increase of
unemployment, Europe was also suffering from cholera and the plague. The plague had spread across
Europe, starting

An Analysis Of Joyas Voladoras By Brian Doyle
Brian Doyle s short story Joyas Voladoras , named after a species of hummingbird, focuses on hearts.
The story first details how hummingbird hearts are quick and necessary for flight, but also that they
are so prone to damage and scarring. It then points out the size of the whale s heart, likening it to a
room. Doyle goes on to compare the hearts of different organisms, noting that all organisms are
always moving, swirling, changing in an eternal dance. Finally, he explains that even though we try to
harden our hearts against the pain we feel, to stop others from seeing inside of us, it is impossible,
because our hearts will open at even the smallest emotional instance. The author suggests that all
living beings have a sense of vulnerability to emotions and pain because of their hearts, uniting all
creatures despite their vast differences. First analyzing the hummingbird, Doyle writes, A
hummingbird s heart beats ten times a second. A hummingbird s heart is the size of a pencil eraser...
their hearts beating faster that we could clearly hear if we pressed our elephantine ears to their
infinitesimal chests, emphasizing the diminutive status as well as the rapid beat of the hummingbird s
heart. Writing Their hearts are stripped to the skin for the war against gravity and inertia, the mad
search for food, the insane idea of flight. The price... is a life closer to death; they suffer more heart
attacks and aneurysms and ruptures than any other living creature, Doyle shows

USS NEW YORK
USS NEW YORK
Where were you on September 11, 2001? In order for senior leaders to pave the way for their juniors,
they need to have a full understanding of historical data, mission capabilities and what that means to
be a service member. This paper discusses the history, mission, and the symbolism of the USS NEW
YORK.
History
There have been five ships named after the state of New York. The first was a gondola built on Lake
Champlain in 1776. The second, commissioned in 1800, was a 36 gun frigate used to fight against the
Barbary Pirates. The people of New York funded her construction. The third was an armored cruiser
built in 1890. She served as the North Atlantic Squadron flagship during the Spanish American War.
The forth was a battleship; BB 34 was in service from 1914 1946 serving in both World War I and II.
Most recently, the fifth ship with the namesake, USS NEW YORK, commissioned in New York City
on November 7, 2009. She is the fifth in the San Antonio class of amphibious transport docks, LPD s

Economics Essay On Maggi
ECONOMICS PAPER 1
We all love Maggi, is it safe to eat Maggi? Will the government take actions to ban Maggi?
The Indian Central Government has declared a nationwide ban on Maggi due to excess of MSG and
lead in the product, which is manufactured by the company Nestle India. The ban has forced the
organization to cut its production of the product by one third as costumers discard the product amidst
health concerns. In brief, the supply is cut down due to the decrease in demand. Demand is the
willingness and the ability of the consumer to buy goods. Supply represents how much a market can
offer.
The sudden decrease in the demand of Maggi is because of higher level of MSG (Monosodium
Glutamate) and lead in it. Maggi noodles have been found to contain large quantities of MSG, which
is one of the leading causes of Obesity and Hypertension. In addition, Experts say that the ... Show

MSG and lead. The sales could be near about the same but due to the impression created by the ban on
Maggi, people might not consider buying something from a defamed company.
To conclude, I d like to say that the ban on Maggi has both positive and negative impacts. Many
people will loose their jobs as a result of the ban, while the ban has made people concerned about their
health and also the ill effects of consuming packed food.
Well, it looks like we won t be getting Maggi in the near future but there is some hope that the ban on
this renowned product will be lifted given that Nestle complies with the rules and regulations of the

Ambush Tim OBrien Analysis
War is a place where deaths, and unimaginable tragedies happen. If you speak to anyone who has been
part of a war, they most likely do not enjoy reminiscing and telling stories of it. That is because war is
a traumatic place, where the things soldiers see is so awful, that it should not be repeated. In the short
story Ambush by Tim O Brien, man s young daughter knew her dad served in the army, this
knowledge sparked her curiosity. This curiosity led her to ask her dad if he has killed anyone, he
denies doing anything of that sort. The story is him telling her the truth when she is older of what
actually happened. There are three messages that can be derived from Tim O Brien s short story
Ambush death is awful, and traumatic, also that death is sometimes necessary, finally war changes
people. Death is awful and traumatic, that is a message that can be derived from the short story
Ambush by Tim O Brien. The worst crime that a human can commit is murdered, that is because
human life is invaluably precious. Most people realize this fact, and that is why war is so hard on
soldiers. Killing someone is probably the most traumatic thing in the world, that s why some soldiers
come back with post traumatic stress. Those soldiers can not handle the guilt that comes along with
killing someone. In the story Ambush the soldier kills a man while on watch of a camp, with a
grenade. He seriously regrets this, before the grenade even went off he wished that he could take it
back.

Harriet Beecher Stowe And His Family Essay
During the 1800s slavery was common. Although, many people thought it was wrong and sinful, some
actually did not mind the practice. Harriet Beecher Stowe and her family were one of many who were
activists in the anti slavery movement. She was born in Litchfield, Connecticut on June 14, 1811. Her
father, Lyman Beecher, was a Calvinist preacher, and her mother, Roxana Foote, died when she was
four. When Stowe was 25 years old, she married Calvin Ellis Stowe, who was also against slavery and
a well known minister. Stowe s sister, Isabella Beecher Hooker, was an advocate for women s rights.
Another of her sisters, Catherine, founded a school to offer education for young women. Uncle Tom s
Cabin is about the life of Tom, an african slave, who was sold to a trader because of the debt owed by
his master. He was being moved to the South where he would begin his life like he has never done.
Slavery has always been a sorrowful topic, so when we were given the years between 1492 to 1870, it
came to mind right away. Google gave a handful of books to read, but only this mysterious title stroke
curiosity.
The book started off with a conversation between two men, Mr. Shelby, a farmer, and Mr. Haley, who
is a trader. They were discussing the conduct of their slaves. Mr. Shelby had a plethora of positive
things to say about his slaves because he was a very nice person. Mr. Haley on the other hand, was
very negative and did not trust any slave. Shelby spoke about this one particular slave

Examples Of Adaptation In Harry Potter
We are constantly surrounded by adaptations, from BBC One s adaptation of Ann Cleeves Shetland, to
Harry Potter. Adaptation is an integral part of our lives as we long always strive for meaning in
everything, adaptation can allow us to see new meanings in what we watch and take something we
would not necessarily have seen in the original.
Adaptation is the application of previous concepts to new concepts, taking for instance a play onto the
big screen, whilst the original conditions are lost a new concept and ideals occur for the adaptation.
Adaptations are palimpsests, for example, in the Harry Potter films they take from the books that
Ginny is in love with Harry and all the girls want to be her friend, however in the films she is mainly
seen as helplessly in love with Harry and not much is seen regarding her life at Hogwarts. Adaptations
can be both good and bad, however they openly admit being an adaptation, so they must adhere to
having a connection to the original. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst an adaptation will have elements of its original text it will have its own unique take and spin on

have changed over the years but have primarily retained the same basic structure. Fundamentally,
adapting something is to change a quality whilst maintaining elements of the original so that it is still

Frances Ha Essay
Frances Ha, released in 2012, is a film primarily focused on a young quirky white girl named Frances
who lives in New York City and is trying to figure out what she is supposed to be in her life. The film
is edited together as a series of montages that display her appealing character moving through a dark
period in her life where she is having trouble functioning as an adult, to where she discovers and
embraces what is in herself that she excels at. Nearly all of the scenes in the film have Frances as the
lead subject, only cutting away from her to show activities that are proceeding around her. Greta
Gerwig s unique professional career and personal life made her perfect for the lead role as Frances, a
character full of hopefulness, spontaneity and quirkiness. Although Greta s performance appears on
the surface to be improvisational, an examination of her background, use of body language and
representational dialogue shows that she is more of a method actor. When Greta is playing Frances,
she uses the technique of method acting to make the scenes feel more realistic to the audience, which
makes this film unlike many mumblecore films. The technique of method acting is used ... Show more

This belief is relating directly to the strong relationship Frances, and Sophie have with one another.
There is also a scene later on during the film that plays out the description of this belief. Much of this
film is Frances trying to find the true person she is; part of that process is discovering what type of
relationship she wants with other people. During the beginning of the film, she ends her relationship
with her boyfriend. For the duration of the film, Frances is discovering what she wants out of life, with
one of those things being a meaningful relationship with her best friend Sophie. By giving Frances this
belief, Greta can better form into the character while still using the technique of method

Philosophical And Scientific Pointers To Creatio
On philosophical and Scientific Pointers to Creatio Ex Nihilo Where did our universe come from? It is
one of the most fascinating questions that we can think about. One thing that makes this question so
interesting is the fact that there are only two possible answers; God, or some other being like God
created our universe, or a natural process created our universe, but which is it? Did God or Nature
create the universe that we live in? All those questions need a deep breath and good analysis to find
the answer. On William Lane Craig s Philosophical and Scientific Pointers to Creatio Ex Nihilo, Craig
has an amazing argument about the beginning of the universe. Craig supported his idea, which is the
universe has a beginning, by a series of premises. The first one is that an actual infinite cannot exist,
the second one is that a beginningless series of events in time is an actual infinite, and the last one is
that a beginningless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Craig started his series of supporting by saying that an actual infinite cannot exist, the meaning of the
term actual infinite is crucial toward the understanding of this argument. An actual infinite means that
nothing further may be added or subtracted. One of the unique traits of an actual infinite is that part of
the set is equal to the whole set. For instance, in an actually infinite set of numbers, the number of
even numbers in the set is equal to all of the numbers in the set. This follows because an infinite set of
numbers contains an infinite number of even numbers as well as an infinite number of all numbers. By
contrast, a potential infinite is a set of things that can be added to without ever reaching infinity. Such
a set may be ever increasing without limit yet is at all times finite. Whereas actual infinites are definite
collections, potential infinites contain an indefinite collection of

The Perfect Homecoming
The Perfect Homecoming
J.K. Rowling once said, Rock bottom became the foundation on which I rebuilt my life. In 2017 the
United States had one of the harshest hurricane seasons in a long time, leaving a lot of people at rock
bottom . During the season Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Houston. The Washington post said,
Harvey has unloaded 9 trillion gallons of water. The Weather Channel stated that Rockport, TX
experienced 130 MPH winds. The storm was devastating, flooding most of the city which destroyed
countless buildings and homes. When one thinks of home, the first thing that comes to mind is not
always school. But to the students and staff of Lutheran South Academy, their school was not just a
place to learn; but a community where everyone feels like they are a part of a family. When disaster
strikes, people lean on family for support. The disaster of Hurricane Harvey did a number on the
campus, destroying many of the buildings belonging to this community. The flooding of the LSA
campus due to Hurricane Harvey displaced the institution forcing them to struggle with the efforts of
rebuilding what was destroyed in the flood. However, if people would endure the struggle together
and help rebuild instead of leaving when complications arrive then LSA would be restored in better
time and of better quality.
The devastation of Harvey on the LSA community forced them to move into the facilities of Sagemont
Church, near I 45 and the Sam Houston Tollway. The church was very

The Pharmacological Treatments For Opiates, Drugs, And Drugs
In this essay, the effectiveness of the pharmacological treatments for opiates, nicotine, cocaine, and
alcohol in relation to addiction relief and prevention will be critically evaluated. This will be
accomplished through an investigation of the respective substances and their current treatment s
methods and levels of success, such as the use of Substitution Therapy, agonist and antagonist
treatments, and preventative drugs. Furthermore, the generation of directions for future research and
treatments will be performed, particularly assessing the potentiality for remedying addiction through
substance tailored vaccinations and suggestions for solidifying a scientifically accepted methodology
for the treatment of cocaine dependency.
Concurrently, pharmacological treatment efficacy has been assessed heavily within academic texts.
The present essay will incorporate a multitude of these findings, in order to appraise the effectiveness
of current addiction prevention proposals in determining empirically and clinically substantive
degeneration of the largely aggressive symptoms, and the possible detrimental short and long term
effects, correlated with addiction to opiates, nicotine, cocaine, and alcohol. Opiate dependency is a
result of addiction to specific prescription drugs such as oxycodone, morphine, hydrocodone, etc., as
well as the illegal drug, heroin. According to the 2012 United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

Auditory Hallucinations
Hallucinations can be auditory. The types of auditory hallucinations that people experience vary. Some
people can hear mean voices one telling them to do something wrong and the other telling them not
too. Auditory hallucination can be like a radio talk show so you are hearing the voice, but not an actual
participant in what you are hearing. Another auditory hallucination that is very common is hearing
music and it can be any kind of music. People that experience these types of hallucinations are normal
people like you and me. There are many theories as to why people experience auditory hallucinations
such as a greater activation in the primary auditory cortex, or some think it because we can t recognize
the auditory hallucination as our own.

Criminalization Vs Criminalization
1. Criminalization is a process where people outside of the dominant social norms is labeled as a
criminal, and is influenced by racism, sexism, and nationalism ideologies. In criminalization, laws are
made to make certain bodies and acts criminal, and is a multi step practice in which media
representation helps shape popular views of criminal behavior and criminals. Examples are laws
forbidding homosexuality and minimum sentencing for possession of drugs. A person can be
criminalized for same sex loving because it falls out of dominant heteronormativity, even though it
doesn t feel like a criminal act. The prison industrial complex is based on privatized prisons in which

Politics and culture dictates what the dominant social norms are in terms of who you have intimate
relationships with and what behaviors are appropriate . These political and cultural influences hold
implications in the workplace. For example, if heteronormative values are predominant in the
workplace, a person who identifies as homosexual or has same sex inclinations may be more discreet
in engaging in their sexuality in order to fit in the culture and not prevented from moving to higher
positions.
3. Globalization is the process of integrating culture and economy among people, businesses, and
governments of different nations. It is facilitated by media, international financing institutions, trade
agreements, and national immigration policy. In terms of flows of products, companies can expand
globally through the international free market in order to exploit cheap labor in the production of
goods. The national market may be dominated by companies that expands their business overseas,
such as Walmart who imports products from more than 200,000 suppliers internationally. This can
produce inequalities on different levels. For one, there is a wealth disparity for corporations in the
Western world who are benefitting more than the people producing the goods, and typically the cheap
labor is found in countries that have unstable economies and therefore can be exploited. In addition,
local businesses face inequalities as they are outcompeted by companies in the global

The Atomic Bombing Of Hiroshima
An Unnecessary Action The atomic bombing of Japan was an unjustified decision that many
considered was inhumane. Through the use of atomic bombs, many innocents were harmed in one
way or another. Berger described the atomic bombing of Hiroshima as a terrorist act and that it was
evil . While Berger s argument was extreme, the U.S. still remains unjustified because they did not
know exactly how much damage the bomb would actually cause. Bombing Japan, the U.S. harmed
thousands of civilians and displayed the effectiveness of the atomic bomb despite having other options
to end the war. By bombing Japan, many civilians were killed as a result of the U.S. s desire to use a
new weapon. Laurence describes the bomb as, a thing of beauty to behold and Never before had so
much brain power been focused on a single problem (11). This demonstrated how the U.S. saw Japan
as a problem that needed to be dealt with quickly and that the new and supposedly destructive weapon
was the best choice. While the targets, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were both production areas ,they
were inhabited by a number of civilians. By choosing to drop the bomb, thousands were annihilated
and any survivors began to suffer from radiation sickness shortly after. Because of its destruction, the
U.S. believed the atomic bomb was a quick solution to the war. Although the atomic bomb was a new
and quick solution to the war, the U.S. could have chosen other options to finish it. As a result of
bombings

Analysis Of The Poem The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
Montresor moved at a brisk pace through the dark catacombs, looking back periodically. He had the
creeping feeling that, although obviously impossible, someone or something was following him. He
shook the idea from his head; Impossible! he said, trying to convince himself.
Even so, he still felt that odd feeling on the back of his neck.
As he hurried through the damp and foreboding passageways, he replayed the evening s events in his
mind. As he recalled Fortunato s desperate, yet futile, screams and pleadings, he felt a slight twinge
of...regret?
No, no, Montresor mumbled to himself. A man s character is his fate. He took in a shaky breath as he
walked up the vault s staircase. The fool brought it upon himself.
He paused at the top, straining his ears. Is that a cry I hear? he muttered. Or just my damned
conscience? he finished, silently.
Again, he shook the thought from his head, cautiously making his way through the palazzo; he needed
to be sure that his servants had disobeyed.
He let out a sigh of relief when the entrance was in sight. With a nervous smile, he pushed open the
doors to his home. Nemo me impune lacessit. he whispered triumphantly, emerging onto the street.
more Three days later, there is a buzz about town; the Lady Fortunato had reported that her lover had
gone missing without a trace. Considering his drinking habits, one would not think twice if he were to
be gone for one night, but three(with no word from him!) was simply unprecedented.

Hope From a King
Darkness cannot drive out the darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love

much needed solace, and hope in today s troubled world. The darkness that Dr. King refers to can
symbolize many things today and the hate he mentions is as strong today as it was four decades ago;
only we are dealing with a different kind of hate.
In today s world, darkness is apparent every corner you turn, with the daily atrocities being committed
in southern Sudan and the ongoing conflict in Iraq serving as prime examples. Over 30 countries are

There are still ways in which light can drive out the darkness that is prevalent in our world today.
Every nation claims that they are building up arms to defend their people in case of an attack. This is a
perfect example of the darkness that is embedded in the world. People s psyches are so concerned
about the worst of possibilities that we seldom look at the positive ways in which we can improve our
world for the better. The light that can offer some answers may be the consent of all nations to reach
an agreement on every major international issue such as the battle over nuclear weapons. I find it hard
to believe that in a world where we have so much potential to rid the ills of society with diplomacy,
we often resolve to arms and violence.
Dr. King was referring to the plight of African Americans (particularly in the South) when he said that
hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Dr. King was in essence preaching to those that
wanted integration, and civil rights that the only way you can achieve anything is with love. Dr. King
knew that hate often results in violence, and using violence as a means to a gain at a time when our
nation was engaged in a deadly war will not have been in the best interest of a nation that needed
cohesiveness amongst all its citizens. In the history of the world, hate has never produced a good
result. Hitler s hatred of Jews resulted in the massacre of over six million Jews. In Rwanda, over

Computer And Smartphone Addiction ( S ) Are Becoming More...
Computer and smartphone addiction(s) are becoming more and more prevalent every year. From a 1
year old children to grown adult men and women. At first glance, these electronics look harmless. But,
if used in excess, someone can easily become addicted and not even know it. Smartphones have social
media apps such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; that s only naming a few. Many people around
the world habitually use and check on these apps, on an hourly to an everyday basis. Continuously
checking these apps will ultimately lead to addiction if not recognized and controlled. Computers have
the same effect along with help from the internet; video games, Netflix, Youtube, can all entertain
someone for a few hours. That time can easily be doubled, tripled and/or quadrupled, because of how
entertained or bored someone can be. Society needs to start realizing how much time they are
spending on their smartphones and computers. There has to be some sort of equilibrium to establish,
in order to not cause addiction or obsessive behavior. Smartphones and computers are going to keep
growing and expanding for decades. Technology impacts most of us in our life; we are surrounded and
engulfed by it. Our lives have been made easier and a little more fun by the help of technology. For
example, computers and smartphones. But, these technologies could actually be quite harmful. Can
people really become addicted to these technologies? Cooke 2 Over the last decade, computers and

effective parenting
You might not often think of being a single parent family as a bonus for your kids. There have been
many sacrifices along the way, and plenty of times when you wished things were different. However,
there are some positive effects of single parenting that you should bear in mind as you raise your
children:
Positive Effect of Single Parenting #1: Developing Strong Bonds
Spending quality one on one time with your kids allows you to develop a unique bond that may
actually be stronger than it would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some parents may experience a sort of kicked in the gut feeling, others may be sad and withdrawn,
and still others, angry with themselves, the child, the situation, or God. In fact, theory and research on
the grieving process indicate that parents may have any or all of these reactions, and may alternate
between emotional states. Regarding your marriage, the most important factor is that you are able to
communicate with each other about what you are experiencing individually and as a couple, and that
you allow each other the space and time to process whatever feelings you experience in response to
your child s condition.
Fact
Elisabeth Kübler Ross identified five stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance.
Developmental psychologists have learned that not everyone experiences all of the stages in response
to loss, and that they can alternate, and even overlap. Overall, the goal is to accept and move through
the changeable process, not to finish grieving.
Parenting Style
Because a large part of your child s recovery will involve reassurance that his world is safe and
manageable, it will be important for you and your spouse to assess your parenting styles. Diana
Baumrind, in her classic work, identifies three different parenting styles: Authoritarian, Permissive,
and Authoritative. Authoritarian parents take the reins of control fully, and adhere to strict rules and
expectations for their children.

Personality And Gender Essay Personality, Gender and their Relationship in a Kinesiology Program A person can be defined in many ways: sex, age, hair colour, weight, and most importantly personality. The personality of a person can be a determining factor of many areas of a person s life. Personality can be a predictor of whether a person likes or dislikes sports, how much schooling there will go through and what occupation a person may chose. There are many aspects to a person s personality and there are an numerous ways to determine a person s personality. One of the ways to determine an individual s personality is by using The Big Five Model, which began with the research of D.W Fiske (1949) followed by a numerous amount of other researchers: Norman (1967), Smith ... Additionally, the personality of a person literally affects every decision an individual makes and there have been many studies that support theories similar to this. There is a relationship between a few personality traits and the quality of effort put forth by a first year post secondary student. • 4. Horror Of The Horror Movie Weenie. That is the word that comes to mind when I think about myself watching horror films. I am the girl that shields her eyes, jumps at the slightest jump scare, and cringes at the tiniest amount of gore. But contrary to what this previous information might tell you about myself, I love a good horror movie. I believe there is nothing that can bring a group of friends together like a good ol scary film on a crisp, Autumn night. A film that I discovered last Fall was The Babadook, written and directed by Jennifer Kent. This film is a psychological horror, meaning it uses different twists and tricks to scare you rather than using creepy creatures or gore. The main plot of this movie is about a widowed mother, named Amelia who is still struggling with the effects the death of her late husband has on her while she is raising their son, Samuel. The antagonist in this film is the monster, The Babadook, who is the manifestation of the mother s depression. This film has become a favorite of mine because it uses a monster to showcase how scary a very common, real life problem is. Samuel and Amelia live alone in a small home in a quaint, Australian town. Samuel has proven to be a problem child as he is always getting into some sort of mischief at school or at home. He also is still afraid that monsters are living in his room even though Amelia tries everything she can to help him cope with his fears but nothing seems to help and the failure just adds fire to her internal storm she has. One night she tries to help calm Samuel by allowing him to pick out a book to read as a bedtime story. Sam picks out the book Mister Babadook. Obviously, this book tells the tale about the real life monster The Babadook and it scared the child so bad he just laid in his mother s lap and screamed the entire night. This screaming fit drove Amelia crazy and was sort of the straw that broke the camel s back to send her into her depressive state. In the days after they read Mister Babadook, Samuel blamed his mischievous behavior on The Babadook as it was beginning its haunting. Amelia believes Sam is just up to his usual antics until she too starts feeling strange things occurring in their lives. After getting rid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Benefits Of Going To College And Getting A Bachelor Degree All high schoolers face the same daunting problem. What they are going to do with their lives. A choice made as an 18 year old, determines future paths for the rest of their lives. Recently the subject of going to college and getting a four year degree has become very controversial. HIgh school students are choosing other alternatives, such as trade school, community college, or even not getting any further education at all. However even with many other options, going to college and getting a bachelor s degree is valuable for everyone. Going to college and getting a four year degree earns individuals more money. Those people make 98% more an hour than those without degrees. (Leonhardt 1) Over the course of a lifetime, a person with a bachelor s degree will make 1.1 million dollars opposed to average of 393,000 over a lifetime of someone without a bachelor s degree. (Hamm 4) The more money one makes, the more opportunities one is offered. Traveling the world, materialistic items, living location, providing for family, are all examples of opportunities requiring: money. College let s one attain these opportunities by giving degrees that will earn people higher paying jobs. A very big issue that people have with attending a four year college is the cost of college tuition. College is very expensive. Even after paying a large sum of money, the average amount of student loans is 30,000 dollars. (Bonder 1) The cost to get a bachelor s degree is 127,000 dollars. (Hamm 1) Even if ... Throughout history, it is seen that ,all the provinces in the world, have varying degrees of poverty. For my report, I will be focusing on Nepal (Asia) . Nepal is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is home to Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world, and another 7 mountains which are among the ten tallest mountains. Nepal s capital city is Katmandu. I will be comparing Nepal to Australia. Australia (Commonwealth of Australia) is an island country (Oceania). Surrounded by the Pacific and Indian oceans, it is the largest country in Oceania and 7th largest country in the world. Australia s capital is Canberra but its economical capital is Sydney. There are many essential aspects of life which include; income, education, food and water, health and shelter. Income is money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments. The weekly income of a laborer in Australia is $622.20 ($476.11 USD) whereas a Nepalese laborer would make 2000 NPR ($19.31 USD) . Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. The expected amount of schooling years in Nepal is 12.2 years. Now, compare that to 20.4 years in Australia. The average cost of living in Australia is $2835 ($2169.31 USD) while the cost of living in Nepal is 500 1100 NRs ($4.83 $10.62 ... • 7. Medicine in Ancient Egypt The world of medicine in Ancient Egypt is a cloud of mystery and very little is known other than what has been salvaged from surviving papyri. What the papyri can tell one who examines them is that the Egyptians had some knowledge of the anatomy and had constructed their own approaches to medical issues. Compared to other civilizations such as the Babylonians and the Greeks, who used more rational and logical approaches, Egyptian medicine might seem less sophisticated. In earlier clinical writings there has been less magic mentioned than in later times, which could be due to the endurance of the Old Kingdom boosting their confidence in the power of mankind and their king. So knowing that the Egyptians relied very much on magic and the supernatural to provide them knowledge of the ailments of the body, some of it was also the root of reason and plain common sense. With the passage of time, new archaeological discoveries, increased knowledge of Egyptian language and writing, and the appearance of more sophisticated medical techniques, new life was given to the study of disease and health in the ancient Nile Valley. It was this period that saw the academic study of Egyptian disease divided into three categories: Most of what the world knows today about medicine in Ancient Egypt comes from the papyri that have survived all these years; second is the study of the artistic representation of disease in the Nile Valley; third, and perhaps most obvious, is the study of human ... • 11. Essay about Farming The Tambopata Reserve Tambopata Peru is one of the poorest and most underdeveloped regions of Latin America. The area is home to undernourished children, lack of secure work and education. There is an imperative need not just for Tambopata, but all of Peru to increase its economy and enable the access of basic needs to its citizens. While the area of Tambopata has many arguments for its potential use, sustainable soybean cultivation is the best approach to improve Peruvian infrastructure, economy and future preservation of natural areas. There are many potential land uses for the Tambopata Reserve. One of which, that gains much environmentalist backing, is slash and burn agriculture. While this method of agriculture has long traditionally been employed and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the same study, 3.3 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be lessened by 2020 through sustainable soybean production. These methods allow for a reduction in overall costs due to decreased overhead in both machinery and herbicide applications (Green, 2010). Perhaps the greatest benefit of using conservation tillage soybean production over other potential land uses is the consecutive insurance of high yields in small areas. Due to these high yields per hectare, more land can be saved for the Tambopata Reserve and its inhabitants. Additionally, if soybeans that were raised within the reserve were taxed, money can come back into the park to aid in its prosperity and protection of the local soybean market. Many guidelines have been implemented in neighboring Brazil and Paraguay to ensure both economic growth and rainforest protection that could be implemented in Tambopata. If soybean production were undertaken in Tambopata, the crops would be raised under World Wildlife Federation and the Nature Conservancy s guidelines of Forest Friendly Soy (Schnoecker, 2007). This means that at least eighty percent of farmers land must be preserved as forest to make up for the twenty percent farmed. • 13. The Struggle Of Women By The Sherlock Holmes Stories By... In crime fiction, many themes are encountered in crime stories, enabling the reader to reflect on the cultural and moral values of the society. These stories discuss various topics such as race, ethnicity, sexism, and femininity. In the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the independence of women is shown as a conflict in society that must be solved and controlled by men. This may be demonstrated by the poor representation of single women present in the Sherlock Holmes stories, such as Mary Morstan and Irene Adler who are considered as a problem in this society, because they do not have the presence of a male figure guiding them in their everyday lives. In the stories, the issues caused by these women are redundantly resolved by marrying a man. This implies an unacceptable prejudice towards the female gender. Firstly, in the stories, single women who are alone appear to be problematic due to the lack of men in their everyday lives. Mary Morstan is isolated, and must be saved by men, whereas Irene Adler is presented as being a scandalous woman who must be restrained. As Mary Morstan first approaches Holmes and Watson to state her case, she explains that her mother has deceased, her father has disappeared, and that she does not have any other family member close by to be there for her, therefore, she is alone. She says: My father was an Indian regiment, [...] My mother was dead, and I had no relative in England. (Conan Doyle, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is at least two sides to every story, or in this case two sides to every subject. Economists have different views on the world, and they cannot agree on a single viewpoint. There is the popular, mainstream economists, known as the neoclassical economist and there are the heterodox economists which covers the nonmainstream views. Although the mainstream economics is the one taught in school, its assumptions are there to achieve a certain outcome. The heterodox economist s assumptions are based on the fact to eliminate extraneous factors. I believe that heterodox economics will start to be considered more in the world of academics and may take the place of the current mainstream economics. The theories of consumption have different viewpoints. Neoclassical consumer theory is the explanation of how consumers allocate incomes to the purchase of different goods and services. In other words, it is how individuals make choices given their income and the price of goods and services. This is how the neoclassical economist is able to understand tastes and how income influences the demand curve. This view is the one that all major textbooks use and the type of economics that students are taught. In the viewpoint of the neoclassical economist, consumers are rational decision makers. • 15. The Revolutions of 1848 Essay The Revolutions of 1848 The Revolutions of 1848 have been described as the greatest revolution of the century 1. From its mild beginnings in Palermo, Sicily in January 1848, it did not take long to spread across the rest of Europe (Britain and Russia were the only countries not to experience such revolutions). In 1848 more states on the European continent were overcome by revolution than ever before and ever since 2. The Revolutions became more radical but after June 1848 these revolutionary events began to overlap with those of counterrevolutionary actions, thus enabling the old regimes to return to power. 1848 was described as a sunny spring of the peoples abruptly interrupted by the winter of the princes 3. It has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The situation was the same across central and west Europe. Revolutionaries found that the high hopes they had held in 1848 were pushed aside by the reality of different aims. As a result the counter revolution continued to develop and gain the upper hand, particularly in the Habsburg monarchy, where rivalries within the monarchy itself and the confusion of competing national claims made counter revolution easier, and in the Italian states where a lack of support had proved too powerful. This division amongst revolutionaries was further heightened by the continued existence of social and economic problems throughout Europe. It was these social problems which had helped bring about the 1848 Revolutions in the first place. In the 1840s there was increased food shortage and business failure along with high unemployment, which had increased the dissatisfaction with the existing conservative or moderate regimes. Although this economic discontent had not been enough on its own to bring about the 1848 Revolutions, it definitely played a key part in their development and their collapse. These problems were still apparent in 1848 and consequently took some of the focus away from the revolutionaries cause. Along with the growing strain on food supplies and the increase of unemployment, Europe was also suffering from cholera and the plague. The plague had spread across Europe, starting ... The story first details how hummingbird hearts are quick and necessary for flight, but also that they are so prone to damage and scarring. It then points out the size of the whale s heart, likening it to a room. Doyle goes on to compare the hearts of different organisms, noting that all organisms are always moving, swirling, changing in an eternal dance. Finally, he explains that even though we try to harden our hearts against the pain we feel, to stop others from seeing inside of us, it is impossible, because our hearts will open at even the smallest emotional instance. The author suggests that all living beings have a sense of vulnerability to emotions and pain because of their hearts, uniting all creatures despite their vast differences. First analyzing the hummingbird, Doyle writes, A hummingbird s heart beats ten times a second. A hummingbird s heart is the size of a pencil eraser... their hearts beating faster that we could clearly hear if we pressed our elephantine ears to their infinitesimal chests, emphasizing the diminutive status as well as the rapid beat of the hummingbird s heart. The Indian Central Government has declared a nationwide ban on Maggi due to excess of MSG and lead in the product, which is manufactured by the company Nestle India. The ban has forced the organization to cut its production of the product by one third as costumers discard the product amidst health concerns. In brief, the supply is cut down due to the decrease in demand. Demand is the willingness and the ability of the consumer to buy goods. Supply represents how much a market can offer. In the short story Ambush by Tim O Brien, man s young daughter knew her dad served in the army, this knowledge sparked her curiosity. This curiosity led her to ask her dad if he has killed anyone, he denies doing anything of that sort. The story is him telling her the truth when she is older of what actually happened. There are three messages that can be derived from Tim O Brien s short story Ambush death is awful, and traumatic, also that death is sometimes necessary, finally war changes people. Death is awful and traumatic, that is a message that can be derived from the short story Ambush by Tim O Brien. The worst crime that a human can commit is murdered, that is because human life is invaluably precious. Most people realize this fact, and that is why war is so hard on soldiers. Harriet Beecher Stowe and her family were one of many who were activists in the anti slavery movement. She was born in Litchfield, Connecticut on June 14, 1811. Her father, Lyman Beecher, was a Calvinist preacher, and her mother, Roxana Foote, died when she was four. Adaptation is an integral part of our lives as we long always strive for meaning in everything, adaptation can allow us to see new meanings in what we watch and take something we would not necessarily have seen in the original. Adaptation is the application of previous concepts to new concepts, taking for instance a play onto the big screen, whilst the original conditions are lost a new concept and ideals occur for the adaptation. • 23. Philosophical And Scientific Pointers To Creatio On philosophical and Scientific Pointers to Creatio Ex Nihilo Where did our universe come from? It is one of the most fascinating questions that we can think about. One thing that makes this question so interesting is the fact that there are only two possible answers; God, or some other being like God created our universe, or a natural process created our universe, but which is it? Did God or Nature create the universe that we live in? All those questions need a deep breath and good analysis to find the answer. On William Lane Craig s Philosophical and Scientific Pointers to Creatio Ex Nihilo, Craig has an amazing argument about the beginning of the universe. For instance, in an actually infinite set of numbers, the number of even numbers in the set is equal to all of the numbers in the set. This follows because an infinite set of numbers contains an infinite number of even numbers as well as an infinite number of all numbers. He had the creeping feeling that, although obviously impossible, someone or something was following him. He shook the idea from his head; Impossible! he said, trying to convince himself. Even so, he still felt that odd feeling on the back of his neck. As he hurried through the damp and foreboding passageways, he replayed the evening s events in his mind. As he recalled Fortunato s desperate, yet futile, screams and pleadings, he felt a slight twinge of...regret? No, no, Montresor mumbled to himself. A man s character is his fate. He took in a shaky breath as he walked up the vault s staircase. The fool brought it upon himself. He paused at the top, straining his ears. Is that a cry I hear? he muttered. Or just my damned conscience? he finished, silently. Again, he shook the thought from his head, cautiously making his way through the palazzo; he needed to be sure that his servants had disobeyed. He let out a sigh of relief when the entrance was in sight. With a nervous smile, he pushed open the doors to his home. Nemo me impune lacessit. he whispered triumphantly, emerging onto the street. more Three days later, there is a buzz about town; the Lady Fortunato had reported that her lover had gone missing without a trace. Considering his drinking habits, one would not think twice if he were to be gone for one night, but three(with no word from him!) was simply unprecedented. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote from a long and memorable list of Dr. Martin Luther King quotes offers some much needed solace, and hope in today s troubled world. The darkness that Dr. King refers to can symbolize many things today and the hate he mentions is as strong today as it was four decades ago; only we are dealing with a different kind of hate. In today s world, darkness is apparent every corner you turn, with the daily atrocities being committed in southern Sudan and the ongoing conflict in Iraq serving as prime examples. Over 30 countries are actively engaged in civil war, and there is the constant threat of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are still ways in which light can drive out the darkness that is prevalent in our world today. Every nation claims that they are building up arms to defend their people in case of an attack. This is a perfect example of the darkness that is embedded in the world. People s psyches are so concerned about the worst of possibilities that we seldom look at the positive ways in which we can improve our world for the better. The light that can offer some answers may be the consent of all nations to reach an agreement on every major international issue such as the battle over nuclear weapons. I find it hard to believe that in a world where we have so much potential to rid the ills of society with diplomacy, we often resolve to arms and violence. Dr. King was referring to the plight of African Americans (particularly in the South) when he said that hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Dr. King was in essence preaching to those that wanted integration, and civil rights that the only way you can achieve anything is with love. Dr. King knew that hate often results in violence, and using violence as a means to a gain at a time when our nation was engaged in a deadly war will not have been in the best interest of a nation that needed cohesiveness amongst all its citizens. In the history of the world, hate has never produced a good result. Hitler s hatred of Jews resulted in the massacre of over six million Jews. In Rwanda, over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From a 1 year old children to grown adult men and women. At first glance, these electronics look harmless. But, if used in excess, someone can easily become addicted and not even know it. Smartphones have social media apps such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; that s only naming a few. Many people around the world habitually use and check on these apps, on an hourly to an everyday basis. Continuously checking these apps will ultimately lead to addiction if not recognized and controlled. Computers have the same effect along with help from the internet; video games, Netflix, Youtube, can all entertain someone for a few hours. That time can easily be doubled, tripled and/or quadrupled, because of how entertained or bored someone can be. Society needs to start realizing how much time they are spending on their smartphones and computers. There has to be some sort of equilibrium to establish, in order to not cause addiction or obsessive behavior. Smartphones and computers are going to keep growing and expanding for decades. Technology impacts most of us in our life; we are surrounded and engulfed by it. Our lives have been made easier and a little more fun by the help of technology. Some parents may experience a sort of kicked in the gut feeling, others may be sad and withdrawn, and still others, angry with themselves, the child, the situation, or God. In fact, theory and research on the grieving process indicate that parents may have any or all of these reactions, and may alternate between emotional states. Regarding your marriage, the most important factor is that you are able to communicate with each other about what you are experiencing individually and as a couple, and that you allow each other the space and time to process whatever feelings you experience in response to your child s condition. Fact Elisabeth Kübler Ross identified five stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance. Developmental psychologists have learned that not everyone experiences all of the stages in response to loss, and that they can alternate, and even overlap. Overall, the goal is to accept and move through the changeable process, not to finish grieving.
