Polytetrafluoroethylene
Polymers have been changing the way we live for over 100 years. Their availability and diverse
qualities ensure that they are always in high demand, and new polymers are always being discovered.
Where does this leave the now commonplace polymers which once were ubiquitous in commerce?
Polymers such as polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride (Bakelite) and polytetrafluoroethylene
(PTFE) were first synthesised in 1907 and 1938 respectively, making them old by polymer standards.
Although the original polymer applications are now redundant, they have found uses in new areas of
society. This dynamic aspect of polymers is due to their unique structure. Polymers are created from
many small molecules (or monomers) reacting with each other, and arranging ... Show more content

It was discovered in the 60s that a reaction between PTFE and magnesium produced a violent and
exothermic reaction. This occurred because magnesium is a highly reactive metal, which when
burned, gives of an intense, white light. (S.I.F., 2013) In addition, magnesium emits infrared when
burned, making it ideal for military use as a decoy flare. However, magnesium requires an oxidiser a
material that takes electrons from the fuel allowing the reaction to take place. This is why flares are
made of PTFE and magnesium, as it is the fluorine in PTFE that allows the reaction to take place.
Fluorine is a proficient oxidiser, more so than oxygen, as it contains more gaps for valence electrons,
allowing the reaction to obtain a higher temperature of combustion. Figure 6 shows magnesium s
preference for reacting with the fluorine in teflon over oxygen to form MgF2(l), a discovery made in
an experiment undertaken by L.V. de Yong and K.J. Smit in

China And The United States
China and the United States has its own unique culture. What is culture? According to Kluckhohn and
Kroeber Culture consists in patterned ways of thinking, feeling, and reacting, acquired and transmitted
mainly by symbols, constituting the distinctive achievements of human groups (Dowling, Festing,
Engle, 2013, p. 24). There are many interesting facts surrounding their culture. In this paper I will
compare China s culture to the culture of the United States to determine if China is a good match for a
United States multinational firm who is looking to enter a foreign market. The aspects of culture
difference I will be focusing on will include the following: language, religion, music, cooking, social
norms and customs. The paper will end with a conclusion of my findings. The Chinese and English
language have many significant differences. China does not have a single language, they have many
different versions or dialects that include Wu, Taiwanese and Cantonese. Mandarin, also known as
Northern Chinese is the mother tongue of about 70% of Chinese speakers and is the accepted written
language for all Chinese ( Language differences: English Chinese, n.d.). However, English is the only
language of the United States. Another difference between language in China and the United States is
that the Chinese language do not use an alphabet system, they use a system call logographic where
instead symbols represent words ( Language differences: English Chinese, n.d.). The

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge
Forty five minutes south east from the city of San Francisco is an area I ve been meaning to write
about since I started this blog. Mostly because as an outdoor enthusiast I feel thrilled and somewhat
obligated to provide highlights for the conservational efforts that help preserve and protect the natural
world that I love. The Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is one such area.
Founded in 1974, by the congressman who is its namesake, this preserve spans 30,000 acres of salt
ponds, marshes, and open bay. It s notable not only for its ability to sun burn even the hardiest visitor,
but this place is an ornithologist s dream. Featuring a large diversity of wildlife from over 280 species
of birds (including raptors), endangered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But here in this coastal landscape I witnessed something that brought me to question the domination
of the apex predator. Rounding the path where the hills turn to marsh, a flock of birds swarmed
inflight before me. Watching, their movements seemed frantic. Diving and rising. Sporadically flying
this way or that. Some coming so close, that it felt as if I could reach out and touch them midflight.
And yet as they flew over my head I realized their motions weren t without form. They flew in unison.
Guided by instinct or habit or experience. The reason: predation. The flock of thrushes were harassing
a lone raptor. Probably because it ventured too near to their nest. The birds kept toe to toe with the
predator s dives and changes in direction. This seemingly defenseless prey was shepherding this
hunter. Working as group for their full survival. I watched them until they flew are beyond my sight.
Over the hills into the surrounding landscape. As I stood there for a while, with the smell of salt
lingering in the coastal air, I manage to lose myself in despite the closeness of industry around me. It
was a reminder that the nature is still so full of surprises. And without the contribution of others that I,
as well as the rest of the world around me, won t survive. For that I give thanks for all the hard work
of people who came before me. So that places so naturally wonderful, like this, still

The Curious Case Of Marilyn Monroe
The Curious Case of Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was one of the biggest stars in her era, and as stars do, they die; and Marilyn was no
exception. Much like the life of Marilyn Monroe, her death was also one that was shrouded in
mystery. People have proposed many theories as to why Marilyn died; the most popular conspiracy
theory being the result of her death by the hands Kennedys. However, some people may say that there
is evidence to support this theory, but these are just fabricated lies spread by people trying to harm the
Kennedy s reputation. It is evident that Marilyn Monroe died from drug overdose due to the fact there
is evidence supporting she overdosed, there are many factors in her life that lead to her doing drugs,
and her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The investigation went on for three months and one would think that after a thorough three month
investigation that trained investigators would find evidence to support the fact that Monroe was
murdered. However, they did not find any evidence because there was no credible evidence to support
the fact that she was murdered. Although, there was plenty of evidence found by investigators to
display that she died of an overdose. Including her autopsy, this displayed no signs of foul play but an
abundant amount of drugs. If she was murdered, there would obviously be signs of foul play. Lastly, it
is important to note that Marilyn had a drug addiction, and this was not the only time she had tried
drugs. Since she had heavily relied on pills in her daily life to just function normally and maintain the
image that she was still rather normally, she became heavily dependent on those pills, which
inevitably lead to an addiction. The pills Monroe was addicted to were used to control her behavior,
which leads to the assumption that she was plagued with mental issues, and it is not uncommon for
someone with a mental disorder to want to end their life. Therefore, it is evident that there is credible
evidence to support the fact that Monroe died from an overdose because the amount of drugs in her
body was way passed the lethal amount, a thorough investigation was conducted to look for evidence
that she was murdered and there was none, and lastly she suffered from

Chivalry In Today s Society
In today s society when the word chivalry is discussed we usually think back to medieval times where
knights were atop horses in shining armor. What is chivalry? Chivalry is the act and responsibility of a
person to have respect and courtesy in everyday situations. Although in today s world we assume that
it was only a thing from the past, an old relic from the time of knights and castles, but really chivalry
is still alive and prominent in modern times.
If you go to a restaurant or store today you will most likely see some examples of someone being
chivalrous. For example, at a restaurant you may see someone pull out another s chair or not have
their elbows on the dinner table while they eat, this shows manners and respect while eating. At stores
you may see someone hold open the door for someone to go through or see two strangers help each
other with groceries; this is what being chivalrous in our world looks like. What this all shows are that
even though we aren t aware of it at the time chivalrous acts are always happening around us wherever
we go and that in fact chivalry is not dead. These acts whether consciously made or unconsciously
made just show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But in today s world it is highly unlikely for someone to die over something like chivalry. Although
both eras have completely different interpretations of being chivalrous where one would die over it
and the other just thinks of it as another daily thing, they can both relate to how chivalry has stood the
test of time. For instance, during medieval times one of the main points of chivalry was being
respectful and courteous to ladies, the same can be said about chivalry in modern times because in
today s world we think of chivalry mainly when we are with the opposite sex. This just shows how
ideals from before are still around today even if they have changed a bit, it shows how chivalry is
indeed not

The West Vs. Reality
The West Versus Reality
Since the beginning of history, the rise and descent of civilizations has molded history influencing
what nations have become today. The approach of using a strong military and a dynamic economy can
be seen as template for civilizations when trying to dominate parts of the world since this template has
been consistently used. The Clash of Civilizations, an essay by Samuel P. Huntington, argues that, as a
result of the Cold War, global politics would be centered around the conflicts between the world s
civilizations. Huntington perceives the conflict between Islam and the West an extremely impactful
conflict. However, The Clash of Ignorance, a literary piece by Edward W. Said, critiques and
disapproves Huntington s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His argument would have been significantly stronger if he showed the darker side of the West as
opposed to making it appear like the West never did anything resulting in a negative impact.
Huntington emphasizes the importance of culture within a civilization by describing it as a cultural
entity (Huntington 2). Culture, along with history, language, and religion, is what distinguishes
civilizations from each other (Huntington 2). Similarly, he speaks about the significance of being
aware of one s own civilization and what makes it unique from others. He describes this awareness
using term civilization consciousness and believes that this awareness can sometimes lead to conflict
(Huntington 3). This idea is similar to the idea of nationalism. Nationalism is commonly used to
engender a sense unity within civilizations with the goal of fighting external forces, but nationalism
can be certainly dangerous. For instance, in the film Promises and Betrayals, Arabs and Jews had an
ongoing conflict after the British promised them their independence, which made them victims of their
own sense of nationalism. However, Huntington also mentions actions like Asianization and re
Islamization that have the goal of understanding cultural differences showing the non violent side of
civilization consciousness (Huntington 4). An increase in tolerance to

College Is A Essential Tool For Life Essay
The research topic of the connection between students who are in college and the level of stress they
inquire financially and generally has had a huge impact on society. College is a very essential tool for
life. College is meant to learn and experience a variety of techniques to use in your everyday life. On
the other hand, college can become a very stressful place, whether it s because of your financial status
or in general. The increase in responsibilities after transitioning from a young adolescent to an adult is
a cause of stress. There are two different sources of stress, external stress and internal stress. External
stress is getting a bad grade on an assignments/test or relationship problems. Internal stress are
motivators that put high expectations on one s self to accomplish or achieve something. Financial
stress is worrying about how you are going to pay for something and where you will get the money to
pay for it. In academic communities financial stress can cause low performance in school work. Also,
stress can cause the low rate of attendance in the academic communities. The amount of workload
assignment wise and job wise can significantly bring stress due to the balance between the two. A
solution for financial stress and general stress could be to make more scholarships and grants available
to students, and find ways to relieve stress. In the article Surviving Stress and Anxiety in College

The Progression of Film
The biggest problem humans have been having since the dawn of time is, how do we entertain
ourselves? . One would assume it began with fire, something that aroused the eyes and entertained the
mind.Though fire may have been the beginning, centuries upon centuries later a much more highly
intelligent form of entertainment revolutionized the world, motion pictures. In the dog eat dog world
of entertainment Film reigns alpha dog. Film has some of the biggest influence on the world around

Motion pictures became the leading attractions on the vaudville bill. Owners of vaudeville theaters
could choose the filmt they desired from the Edison inventory and show them in whatever order they
pleased. The Edison Company developed a more efficient projector known as the Projectoscope or
Projecting Kinetoscope in November 1896, and abandoned marketing the Vitascope (About). In the
modern world of Film, money rules all. Critic reviews have little to do with the status of your film,
production companies are typically intersted box office results. In the media, films that gross the
highest are considered the best, but some patrons of cinema disagree. Many cult films such as
Napoleon Dynamite or Dazed and Confused did poorly in the boxoffices and are now considered
classics. This is where the politics of a sort come to play in the industry. Many directors and writers
are creating works of art, in which they pour their feelings into, yet the media occasionally portrays
major production companies as only being concerned with financial profit. It can create quite a quarel
between the creators and the companies covering the costs. Due to ticket inflattion and the changing of
currency values, it is difficult to determine what is the highest grossing films through the entire history
of motion pictures. Some say Snow White did amazing in the box office and could even compare to

Keats Use Of Figurative Language
In the poem When I Have Fears That I May Cease to be, John Keats reveals his overbearing fear of
dying young. What if he never gets to feel the passions of true love? What if he never gets to write the
mountains of books that he wishes to write? What if he never gets to experience the fame that he so
desires? Fear of not being able to complete our goals before we die is a fear that lurks in the dark
crevices of all of our minds. We must all find a way to fight this fear. Most people do it by blocking it
out completely, but not Keats. Keats confronts his fear full force by announcing it to the public.

Readers of Keats s story begin to realize that the fear of a young death is a demon that haunts us all.
This was Keats s goal as a romantic writer: to connect with the reader, to portray his ideas in the form
of art, and to make the reader see from his point of view. With his use of colorful figurative language,
such as repetition, imagery, and personification, Keats accomplishes his goal. The reason that Keats is
so successful in painting a clear picture is because he uses his imagination to write (King). By writing
his poem in the form of a Shakespearean sonnet consisting of three quatrains (King), Keats, like any
great artist, clearly states the point he is trying to make. Apprehension of a young demise is a plague
that haunts us all. In When I Have Fears That I May Cease to be, Keats takes our hands and reassures

What Is Voyeurism In Rear Window
I chose to critique a movie called Rear Window, a realist film by Alfred Hitchcock produced in 1954.
Starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly and, Wendell Corey. The genre is thriller and the sub genre
suspense infused with mystery. Therefore, Rear Window one of Alfred Hitchcock s highly inspired
audience participation films. When a person watches it, he feels, tantalized, shocked, and exhilarated.
Further in this essay, I will summarize the plots, discuss the styles used, and deconstruct parts of the
film.

Hitchcock, the director points it out to the audience as he concentrates on Jeff focusing on what s
happening inside his neighborhood. Allowing the audience to stay focused, as we become voyeurs
watching the various dramas unfolding. Moreover, Alfred Hitchcock has unlimited technical brilliance
with a boundless ability to portray a story in a very distinctive manner. Using the techniques of
dramatic variation of size to achieve other desired emotions from the audience, by cutting from long
shots to extreme close ups. The story line in the film revolves around voyeurism, guilt, friendship, and
sexuality. Moreover, the editing techniques in the film raise attention to the events that unfold in front
of us. The shots in the movie are edited in a relatively subjective style. According to Hitchcock
Editing shouldn t be in terms of cutting but rather in terms of assembly or Mosaic (Hitchcok, 1963,
p.4). Therefor, Montage is the process or technique of selecting and piecing together separate sections
of film to form a continuous sequence. When two shots juxtapose in such a way it gives the third shot
another meaning. This is one classic examples of Alfred Hitchcock s way of thinking. The voyeurism
practiced in the film makes the audience conscious of why the protagonist is behaving in a certain

ABSTRACT
There are various issues in intrusion detection system. It must detect the malicious activities going on
in a network and deal with the enormous amount of network traffic. In this paper, things like accuracy
and efficiency using CRFs and Layered Approach have been addressed.
The CRFs reduce the number of false alarms thus improving the attack detection accuracy, while the
overall system efficiency can be improved using Layered Approach. Thus, an obvious way it to sum
them up for building a system that accurately detects attacks.Four attack layers are selected related to
the attack groups(U2R, DoS, R2L, and Probe) and perform feature selection for each layer. The results
from individual classifiers at a layer are not combined at any later stage in the Layered Approach,
hence,we can block the attack at the detected layer.

past four decades. There have been observed 70% increase in damage by floods and streams.
According to recent UN report, Economic losses from disasters since 2000 are in range of $2.5
trillion, almost 50% higher than previous international estimates. The economic losses from disaster
sometimes occur out of control and require partnership with private sector. The losses from earthquake

Many U.S. investors own shares of companies in other countries which can put investor at a risk with
natural threat associated with these areas. There has also been seen a significant effect on a price of
commodity after a disaster. For example, earthquake in Chile (2010) choked copper market and results
an increase in Copper price worldwide. With increase in price of a commodity, there is an obvious
decreased diminished margin left for industries. Scarcity rules and the price inflation is then not just

Before 1448, European had to use the Silk Road to trade with Asia. In 1453, Muslim took over
Constantinople; the only way to Asia had been cut. European nations started to use the Maritime way,
and they took over many places in Asia as their access to an easier trade system. Among these
European nations, like what they did to America, their goals and the way they achieved their
initiatives in Asia are different from one another. Portuguese was the first group that explored the way
to Asia without going through Muslims. Because of their special geography, Portugal had advanced
technology. They had outgun ships and controlled the sea area. They also established bases in key
locations of the places they conquered. They created trading post empire by force. They conquered

I Attended University Dance Theatre
I attended University Dance Theatre over the weekend, and after just recently becoming interested in
dance and appreciating dance as an art form I was excited to watch a live dance performance. There
were a total of nine dances, each of which, were choreographed by different people. Not surprisingly,
every dance was extremely different, and left the audience feeling different emotions.
It was hard picking two dances that I enjoyed the most because they were all fantastic. I picked two
that were simple, in the sense that anyone could determine the reason behind the dance. The first is
powerful, and the second is humorous. It was interesting breaking down the dances, determining the
choreographic and theatrical elements, and concluding the meaning of the dance if any. My
expectations were high going in, and I was not disappointed. Beginning with the powerful dance in the
first half Still?. Still? was preformed by two African American women. I found this dance interesting
because the music was spoken text by Martin Luther King, Jr. in the beginning and towards the end
was poetry that was spoken with strong emotion. The stage lighting was turned down, almost
completely dark, and the two women had dark clothing, which, indicated sorrow, frustration, and
anger almost. The dancers only used a small portion of the stage with no props and a completely bare
stage the focus was directed to the two dancers.
The women had relatively low to medium, sharp movements in some parts

Antonio Vivaldi s The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi was a composer in the baroque period of music.
He was born March 4, 1678 in Venice Italy, and died on July 28, 1741. He lived most of his life in
Italy where his dad taught him how to play the violin. At often times he and his father played together.
Vivaldi was at one time a priest but his bad asthma held him back. He was often called the red priest
because of his beautiful red hair. His father Giovanni Vivaldi was also a professional violinist, while
also being his music teacher. He left to study for the priesthood when he was around 14 or 15, and was
ordained in 1703. When Vivaldi was 25 he was given the name master or violin at the Devout Hospital
of Mercy. Antonio was also incharge of a girls orphanage. His two most renowned operatic works
were Furnace, and La costanza trionfante. They were revived multiple times during his life. Added on
to Vivaldi s regular employment, he also accepted many short term positions funded by Rome, and
Mantua. While in Mantua he wrote one of his masterpieces, The Four Seasons . He pared the piece

Animal Testing Unnecessary
Animal testing has a long history, with great minds such as Aristotle and Copernicus partaking in
order to further their research. Scientists have used animals for biomedical research to help further
their limited understanding of anatomy and physiology for thousands of years. It could be argued that
the use of animal testing in the past has led to the current level of understanding and medical research
that has saved many lives. However, the techniques used by Aristotle and others should now be
considered antiquated. There is technology available today that makes animal testing unnecessary, but
greed has caused major companies to continue testing on animals because it is less expensive than
investing in cruelty free methods. Animals are also used for cosmetic testing, to find which ingredients

Up to the point where this quote leaves off, we have not heard much of Lady Macbeth. When she

By now, we are able to recognize Lady Macbeth s nature. Her thoughts are bombarded with dark
images and her mind is set on the murder of the King.
Finally, in the last and most significant part of the sentence Lady Macbeth says, unsex me here. In
context, she wants the spirits to come and take away her soft, feminine characteristics. She feels that
her husband is too nice to get the greatness he is promised, and the only way he can succeed is if she
helps him. From what we have seen, Lady Macbeth seems to be the man of the house. She is willing
to do anything that is necessary in order for her to be queen, including murder. She is also quite smart,
she knows that her husband tends to be passive, and is not about to give up on him now. In the first
half of the novel, Lady Macbeth is the brain behind the operation. She not only provides the actual
plan, but encourages her husband as well. During the period the novel was written, women were
considered to be submissive. However in her case, she is so influential that Macbeth is even persuaded

She cannot absolve herself of liability, however, since she will still be personally liable for her tortious
act.
FAST AS WE CAN DELIVERY LIABILITY
Dawn was, in general, acting on behalf of her employer when the accident occurred. A possible
defense to this would be for her employer to claim Frolic and Detour. Dawn had stopped to do some
shopping before heading to DNA Laboratories. Therefore, Fast as We Can Deliver could argue that
she was furthering her own interests rather than the principals and therefore they should not be liable.
However, courts commonly overlook minor deviations, and thus it is unlikely that this defense would
stand. Also, since she was technically off duty at the time, the courts would likely find that it falls
under the Dual Purpose mission section of negligence (Cheeseman, 2010, p 477). Meaning that in
most jurisdictions the liability would fall on both the principal and the agent if she injuries someone
while on such a mission.
DNA LABORATORIES LIABILITY
The plaintiff in this case is obviously making the claim that DNA Laboratories and Dawn held am
agency relationship. This type of agency would have to be implied, as Dawn and DNA Laboratories
have not communicated to create an express agency contract (Cheeseman, 2010, p. 465). The Superior

the young Dev and Denise s generation will soon rule the nation with version once they become of

Sexual harassment is something that is happening daily. Trying to cope with the emotional damage
can be a lot worse than the harassment itself. It can have an affect on your job, or personal life.
Employees who are harassed report lower levels of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and
job performance. Employees experience higher levels of psychological distress and physical problems
than those who are not harassed. Victims of workplace sexual harassment experience a range of ill
effects, such as job dissatisfaction and absenteeism.
Victims also exhibit nervousness, anger and irritability, low self esteem and elevated stress.

both pity and determined behaviors that attend to the victim s needs, such as helping students deal

approach indicates the use of strategies, such as providing information or advice. A third approach
supports the rights and concerns of accused perpetrators above all others, indicating the need to ask
pointed questions to prove students who make false complaints. Women rarely use complaint
procedures to help with coping of sexual harassment. They usually try to avoid the perpetrator or talk
to a friend and react with rejection and anxiety.
Women who are sexually harassed seek help from a friend or family member. Even though women
may have difficulty coping with sexual harassment, they might find themselves in a dangerous
situation because of the lack of support they get and a sense of separation.

the Anasazi villages banded together to control their water supply with earthen dams and irrigation

AMD is the leading cause of blindness in the elderly population, which was estimated to affect around
200 million people worldwide in 2020[1] and places vast socioeconomic burden. Degeneration of

monolayer of highly pigmented cuboidal cells residing between the photoreceptors (PRs) and Bruch s

and phagocytosis of outer segments[2]. As a layer of epithelium, RPE cells selectively transport

marked by the formation of fibrotic disciform scars on the fovea, which will lead to a permanent

Birth of a Worldview, a Review Essay
In Birth of a Worldview: Early Christianity in its Jewish and Pagan Context, Robert Doran attempts to
analyze the development of Christianity in the early period of its formation and how it related to the
Jewish and the pagan (Roman) religions throughout its development in early times. The text begins
with a historical outline of the development of the early Christian world and then delves into a more
theological analysis in the latter portions. The development of the book mirrors the development of
Christianity itself, which was focused early on with finding ways to worship and expand the faith in a
world that was very anti Christian. Once it had become more accepted throughout the world, Christian

Now that Christianity was favored, many Christians sought to suppress pagan religions. However, the
Edict of Milan promoted acceptance of all religions and so pagan practices were tolerated throughout
much of the fourth century, although this too was to change toward the latter part of the century, when
in 392 emperor Theodosius issued a decree which banned many pagan activities. As a result of these
elements, Christianity had seen drastic changes during a time span of approximately one hundred
years.
The following chapter, Cosmos: The Quest for Order, looks at the development of cosmology as it
related to Christianity during the religion s early years. The Christian ideas on cosmology were
heavily influenced by Stoicism and Platonism, two of the leading philosophic traditions of the time
period (34.) Both schools of thought followed the belief that the universe exhibited clear signs of order
in its design which were clearly the work of a creator.
The Stoic contribution to Christian theology was primarily with the concept of logos, or word, which
is used in the Gospel of John to refer to the Word of God (John 1:1 3.) Plato contributed the idea of an
incorporeal mind or soul which is separate from the body. Philo of Alexandria later used this concept
to explain the two different creation accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, explaining that one relates

Essay on Monetary Policy
Introduction
Monetary policy is among the many tools used by a national government to manipulate its financial
system. Monetary policy refers to the method used by the financial authority of any country to control
the supply and availability of money (Woelfel, 1994). It is often targeted at interest rates to achieve lay
down objectives directed towards economic growth and stability (Woelfel, 1994). Monetary policy
rests on the link between interest rates in an economy, that is, the relationship between interest rates
and the total money supply. It employs a variety of methods to control outcomes like inflation,
economic growth, currency exchange rates and unemployment.
Monetary policy can either be expansionary policy in which case ... Show more content on

One of these approaches is quantitative easing (QE). Quantitative easing is a technique used by central
banks to boost money supply in an economy when interest rates are close to or at zero thus cannot be
reduced further (Woelfel, 1994). To increase the supply of money under such conditions, the central
bank may be forced to buy government assets/securities like government bonds, mortgage backed
securities or government debt from banks thus increase their surplus revenue hence raise or stabilize
prices of such securities and consequently reduce interest rates in the long term.
With this insight in mind, the remaining part of this essay seeks to critically examine the methods of
implementing monetary policy when interest rates are close to or at zero.
Monetary Policy Options at the Zero Bound
Interest rates have the lowest bound at zero mark. When this limit is reached, serious problems occur
in designing appropriate monetary policy approaches since interest rates can never be set below this
mark. Countries like Japan, United States and Switzerland have faced this challenge in the recent past
thus calling for alternative approaches to monetary policy when the nominal interest rate is close or at
zero.
Conventional monetary policy methods are always channeled towards lowering interest rates to
stabilize inflation and other outputs. This is however impossible in situations whereby the interest
rates are already close to or zero calling for

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Patents
1. The market reward rationale for the patent system is based on the ability of patents to reduce
transaction costs and serve as a transferable asset, thereby allowing for inventor to control the supply
of the technology, and for the technology to maintain competitive pricing in the marketplace and
recover costs of invention. Specifically, a patent allows for disclosure which prevents inventors from
overlapping efforts or from keeping the technology a secret, thereby reducing transaction costs and
making it easier to work with interested parties. The transferability of the patented technology further
eases collaboration and commercialization efforts, allowing inventors work with appropriate
companies who are well able to commercialize the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a company creates a new drug to treat a certain disease, for example, they can get a patent for it and
can charge supra competitive prices as they are the only market player, since the patent restricts other
competitors from manufacturing the same medication.
3. The Ex post rationale focuses on the economic functions of patents after they are granted, claiming
that the patent system incentivizes the technology to be constructively utilized, enhanced, and
commercialized post patent. In particular, this rationale holds that patents improve economic
efficiency (i.e. by reducing transaction costs, allowing for transferability divisibility, promoting
collaboration), allowing for a more efficient marketplace, and promoting investments in the patented
technology due to the chance of large rewards in the marketplace in return. For example, the
University of Illinois develops a significant amount of patented technology, including the Dry Grind
Corn Milling Process. The patent on this technology signifies to investors and other interested parties
in the important functions of the technology in terms of processing corn into more corn products, and
the fact that it was developed at a credited institution, initiating outside firms to invest in, enhance,
and commercialize the product, improving the technologies competitive edge in the marketplace. The
University of Illinois similarly has an incentive to ensure that the technology is productively

Three Types Of Truth
What is truth? It is a very confusing word since people cannot definitely describe what is identical
truth. Where is the border of lie and truth which makes them different and separates them? People tend
not to tell every detail, and it makes the other party understand situation in a wrong way. For example,
one boy fought with someone in school also fell off stairs at the same time. Afterwards he goes home
and his mother asks him what happened to him? He just tells her that he fell off the stairs however,
this is not the exact truth. Does this kind of situations define truth? Therefore, truth is a mysterious
matter. First of all, Oliver Kim claims that there are three types of trues. Correspondence theory of
truth, coherence theory of truth and the pragmatic theory of truth: Correspondence, states that
proposition is true if it corresponds to (or reflects) reality. If someone mentions that it is snowing (the
proposition), then it is true when we see the snow falling outside. Nonetheless, what is the reality in
this matter? It is true to everyone that human senses can deceive people. Hence, it can be true that
something reality does exists. Furthermore, coherence theory of truth states, a proposition is true if it
is with other things that are considered true . Depending on this idea whether the statement is real or
not is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It interferes to people s daily life, mind and responses. It might have three types however, with it is
existence in logic; it is clearly shows that truth is an essential phenomenon. It is really hard to define
it, understand it and claim what really the truth is. First three paragraphs in forms that depending on
people s mind, state and mentality truth is changing. It usually differs for every person and is always
changeable depending on situation. Nevertheless, everyone accepted three types of truth, and they
apply it into their every day

Karen Miss Representation
Miss Representation speaks to many of the principles of representation we have learned in this course.
The film s overarching message that there are not enough good role models and too many bad ones for
women in media directly relates to the ideas of descriptive representation. Moreover, the consumption
of media that objectifies and sexualizes women, as well as the call to boycott said media, while not
stated in the film, is based upon the ideas of representative claims making and the acceptance and
rejection of these claims. Descriptive representation is one the themes addressed throughout the film.
At one point, it is stated that Without more women in politics, we just don t really have democratic
legitimacy . An example was given of Karen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, at the end of the film, there is a call to action to boycott media that seek to objectify women
and instead support those that highlight women s accomplishments. Here, these media are the makers
of the claim that their subject, the accomplished woman or the objectified sex symbol, represents
women, the object , to their audience, the consumers. Of course it is the audience that decides the
whether to accept or reject the claim (Saward 2010). Thus, the film s argument in its call to action is to
reject the claim that the sex object represents women rather than the accomplished woman, using the
strategy of boycotting the medium. At the same time, it is implied throughout the film that women are
passively accepting the former claim through its existence alone. Instead of active acceptance or
rejection of the claims made by media to represent women, the film argues that it is this hegemony, the
sheer amount of media that make this claim to objectify women, that causes the claim to be accepted
by the audience. Of course, it is not only women that are the audience to this claim, and not all women
choose to passively accept this claim. Some women noted in the film, such as Sally Ride, the first
female astronaut, chose to reject this claim rather than waiting for a female astronaut role model . On
the other hand, many men, as consumers of media and thus also the audience of these claims to
represent women, choose to accept the sex symbols as valid representatives for women. Thus, the film
cites how women like Carol Jenkins receive hate mail that is against her gender and sexuality and how
men believe that a woman cannot be a surgeon or a news anchor or President of the United

A Multi Agent Cross Platform Modelingand-
NetLogo: Where We Are, Where We re Going
Paulo Blikstein, Dor Abrahamson, and Uri Wilensky
ABSTRACT
NetLogo [3], a multi agent cross platform modelingand simulation environment, has been enhanced
with new capabilities. We explain selected simulations from our Models Library and describe recent
enhancements (e.g., 3D) and demonstrate extensions
(e.g., music). We focus on H u b N e t [5], a technological infrastructure for facilitating participatory
simulations [6], run these activities with participants, and discuss learning experiences afforded by
these activities.
INTRODUCTION
NetLogo [3] is a multi agent programming and modeling environment for simulating complex
phenomena. It is designed for both research and education and is used across a wide range of
disciplines (e.g., Figure 1, across) and education levels. NetLogo
NetLogo s low threshold, high ceiling design philosophy is inherited from Logo [1]. NetLogo is
simple enough that students and teachers can easily design and run simulations, and advanced enough
to serve as a powerful tool for researchers in many disciplines. Novices will find an easy to learn,
intuitive, and well documented programming language (see Figure 2, across) with an elegant graphical
interface. Researchers can take advantage of NetLogo s advanced features, such as
BehaviorSpace that runs automated experiments, 3D visualization, user extensibility, a System
Dynamics
Modeler that enables mixing agent based and aggregate representations, and

Why Is It Important To Engage Young People In...
Young people bring a new perspective to the concept of leadership. Their age suggests limitations to
what is seen as conventional markers of leadership, however they still have the ability to lead or
influence others within a given context. Freire argues that knowledge gained from living experience
should not be rejected or valued less than developed knowledge. Living experience plays a valid part
in understanding the larger context. Young people may not understand the complexities of the
democratic system and broader contexts, but this does not invalidate their worldview and living
experience of how the decisions made impact them. Moreover, their living experience brings detail
and richness to the decision making process. However, young people can be easily marginalized in the
decision making processes, largely due to the lack of legal standing when under the age of eighteen.
Young people who are unable to vote are largely left to other measures such as protests and petitions
(Freire). Empowerment is, therefore, critical to the participation for them to become active in the
context and power relationships they are involved in. Empowered young people hold elected
representatives and other delegates accountable for the decisions they make, and the power they have

Is it under the constitution that the government is obligated to engage young people in decision
making? Has the government ratified a strategic action plan unique for young people? In order for
young people to be decision makers on policies that affect them, the government, young people and
community organizations need to increase awareness of the importance of youth engagement and
participation. Once the positive effects of youth participation are acknowledged, negative stereotypes
of young people will be eliminated, helping young Americans climb higher on the ladder of youth
participation in local

Marketing Strategy Of Nokia
Background
Nokia was the world s largest mobile phone maker for 14 years. The company was once acclaimed for
its marketing strategy success for changing mobile phones from just a communication device to
everyday fashion accessories. However, in today s global smartphone market, Nokia has only 3% of
the market share and is declining. The company s decreasing sales was an obvious sign of
vulnerability leading to the selloff of its mobile device business to Microsoft in 2013 (Surowiecki,
2013).
Marketing Concept
The marketing concept is the philosophy that companies analyze consumers needs and then develop
products or services to satisfy them ( Marketing Principle , 2012, p. 11). For Nokia, before Microsoft
acquiring its business unit, mobile phone was its number one offerings. The company was able to
create and define the market from its superior smartphone designs and early adoption of technologies
such as operating systems, Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), and built in camera
(Khedekar, 2012).
Marketing Strategy Shortcomings
One of the most significant factors of Nokia s decreasing footprint is its failed marketing strategy. The
shortcomings of Nokia s marketing strategy include the lack of early recognition of its opportunities

SWOT analysis is a crucial tool in understanding internal and external factors contributing to the
product s marketing strategy and the overall business strategy ( Marketing Principle , 2012, p. 41).
The areas that could have changed the history of Nokia are opportunities and threats. On opportunity
side, Nokia did well in recognizing growth opportunity in Europe market. For threat, Apple and
Samsung were clearly the biggest threats from competition standpoint. Nokia had technology to fend
them off, but due to internal pressure and bureaucracy, the company was unsuccessful in maintaining
its market

Cause And Effect Of Tornados
To form a tornado the atmosphere needs to create an instability. The air closest to the ground will be
warm, humid, and have south facing winds. In the upper atmosphere, the air will be cold with west or
southwest facing winds. These two components in the upper and lower atmosphere together create the
atmospheric instability. Another key component to form a tornado is wind shear. Wind shear is the
change in wind speed and direction of wind while the warmer and cooler air are chasing each other
around in the circle, creating the height of the tornado. ( Prepare for a Tornado, 2017) Although
tornados have been recorded in every continent except for Antarctica most are found in central United
States better known as tornado alley a stretch of land from the western part of Texas to North Dakota.
On average, there are two thousand tornadoes annually, but two out of three of those tornadoes happen
in the United States. The states with the most tornados on average are Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and
Florida. Tornadoes form in the central part of the United States most commonly because of the
reoccurring atmospheric instability from the dry polar air that meets the warm moist air from the Gulf
of Mexico. (Prepare for a Tornado, 2017) A storm capable of producing a tornado can occur at any
time but most often they occur in the spring and summer, June and May have the highest number of
tornados recorded. Tornadoes can happen at any time of the day but most often occur between the

  • 2. Polytetrafluoroethylene Polymers have been changing the way we live for over 100 years. Their availability and diverse qualities ensure that they are always in high demand, and new polymers are always being discovered. Where does this leave the now commonplace polymers which once were ubiquitous in commerce? Polymers such as polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride (Bakelite) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) were first synthesised in 1907 and 1938 respectively, making them old by polymer standards. Although the original polymer applications are now redundant, they have found uses in new areas of society. This dynamic aspect of polymers is due to their unique structure. Polymers are created from many small molecules (or monomers) reacting with each other, and arranging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was discovered in the 60s that a reaction between PTFE and magnesium produced a violent and exothermic reaction. This occurred because magnesium is a highly reactive metal, which when burned, gives of an intense, white light. (S.I.F., 2013) In addition, magnesium emits infrared when burned, making it ideal for military use as a decoy flare. However, magnesium requires an oxidiser a material that takes electrons from the fuel allowing the reaction to take place. This is why flares are made of PTFE and magnesium, as it is the fluorine in PTFE that allows the reaction to take place. Fluorine is a proficient oxidiser, more so than oxygen, as it contains more gaps for valence electrons, allowing the reaction to obtain a higher temperature of combustion. Figure 6 shows magnesium s preference for reacting with the fluorine in teflon over oxygen to form MgF2(l), a discovery made in an experiment undertaken by L.V. de Yong and K.J. Smit in ... According to Kluckhohn and Kroeber Culture consists in patterned ways of thinking, feeling, and reacting, acquired and transmitted mainly by symbols, constituting the distinctive achievements of human groups (Dowling, Festing, Engle, 2013, p. 24). There are many interesting facts surrounding their culture. In this paper I will compare China s culture to the culture of the United States to determine if China is a good match for a United States multinational firm who is looking to enter a foreign market. The aspects of culture difference I will be focusing on will include the following: language, religion, music, cooking, social norms and customs. The paper will end with a conclusion of my findings. The Chinese and English language have many significant differences. China does not have a single language, they have many different versions or dialects that include Wu, Taiwanese and Cantonese. Mandarin, also known as Northern Chinese is the mother tongue of about 70% of Chinese speakers and is the accepted written language for all Chinese ( Language differences: English Chinese, n.d.). However, English is the only language of the United States. Another difference between language in China and the United States is that the Chinese language do not use an alphabet system, they use a system call logographic where instead symbols represent words ( Language differences: English Chinese, n.d.). Rounding the path where the hills turn to marsh, a flock of birds swarmed inflight before me. Watching, their movements seemed frantic. Diving and rising. Sporadically flying this way or that. Some coming so close, that it felt as if I could reach out and touch them midflight. And yet as they flew over my head I realized their motions weren t without form. They flew in unison. Guided by instinct or habit or experience. The reason: predation. The flock of thrushes were harassing a lone raptor. Probably because it ventured too near to their nest. The birds kept toe to toe with the predator s dives and changes in direction. This seemingly defenseless prey was shepherding this hunter. Working as group for their full survival. Much like the life of Marilyn Monroe, her death was also one that was shrouded in mystery. People have proposed many theories as to why Marilyn died; the most popular conspiracy theory being the result of her death by the hands Kennedys. However, some people may say that there is evidence to support this theory, but these are just fabricated lies spread by people trying to harm the Kennedy s reputation. The investigation went on for three months and one would think that after a thorough three month investigation that trained investigators would find evidence to support the fact that Monroe was murdered. However, they did not find any evidence because there was no credible evidence to support the fact that she was murdered. Although, there was plenty of evidence found by investigators to display that she died of an overdose. Including her autopsy, this displayed no signs of foul play but an abundant amount of drugs. If she was murdered, there would obviously be signs of foul play. Lastly, it is important to note that Marilyn had a drug addiction, and this was not the only time she had tried drugs. Since she had heavily relied on pills in her daily life to just function normally and maintain the image that she was still rather normally, she became heavily dependent on those pills, which inevitably lead to an addiction. The pills Monroe was addicted to were used to control her behavior, which leads to the assumption that she was plagued with mental issues, and it is not uncommon for someone with a mental disorder to want to end their life. Therefore, it is evident that there is credible evidence to support the fact that Monroe died from an overdose because the amount of drugs in her body was way passed the lethal amount, a thorough investigation was conducted to look for evidence that she was murdered and there was none, and lastly she suffered from ... • 7. Chivalry In Today s Society In today s society when the word chivalry is discussed we usually think back to medieval times where knights were atop horses in shining armor. What is chivalry? Chivalry is the act and responsibility of a person to have respect and courtesy in everyday situations. Although in today s world we assume that it was only a thing from the past, an old relic from the time of knights and castles, but really chivalry is still alive and prominent in modern times. If you go to a restaurant or store today you will most likely see some examples of someone being chivalrous. For example, at a restaurant you may see someone pull out another s chair or not have their elbows on the dinner table while they eat, this shows manners and respect while eating. At stores you may see someone hold open the door for someone to go through or see two strangers help each other with groceries; this is what being chivalrous in our world looks like. The approach of using a strong military and a dynamic economy can be seen as template for civilizations when trying to dominate parts of the world since this template has been consistently used. The Clash of Civilizations, an essay by Samuel P. Huntington, argues that, as a result of the Cold War, global politics would be centered around the conflicts between the world s civilizations. Similarly, he speaks about the significance of being aware of one s own civilization and what makes it unique from others. He describes this awareness using term civilization consciousness and believes that this awareness can sometimes lead to conflict (Huntington 3). This idea is similar to the idea of nationalism. Nationalism is commonly used to engender a sense unity within civilizations with the goal of fighting external forces, but nationalism can be certainly dangerous. For instance, in the film Promises and Betrayals, Arabs and Jews had an ongoing conflict after the British promised them their independence, which made them victims of their own sense of nationalism. I Attended University Dance Theatre I attended University Dance Theatre over the weekend, and after just recently becoming interested in dance and appreciating dance as an art form I was excited to watch a live dance performance. There were a total of nine dances, each of which, were choreographed by different people. Not surprisingly, every dance was extremely different, and left the audience feeling different emotions. It was hard picking two dances that I enjoyed the most because they were all fantastic. I picked two that were simple, in the sense that anyone could determine the reason behind the dance. The first is powerful, and the second is humorous. It was interesting breaking down the dances, determining the choreographic and theatrical elements, and concluding the meaning of the dance if any. My expectations were high going in, and I was not disappointed. Beginning with the powerful dance in the first half Still?. Still? was preformed by two African American women. I found this dance interesting because the music was spoken text by Martin Luther King, Jr. in the beginning and towards the end was poetry that was spoken with strong emotion. The stage lighting was turned down, almost completely dark, and the two women had dark clothing, which, indicated sorrow, frustration, and anger almost. The dancers only used a small portion of the stage with no props and a completely bare stage the focus was directed to the two dancers. He lived most of his life in Italy where his dad taught him how to play the violin. At often times he and his father played together. Vivaldi was at one time a priest but his bad asthma held him back. He was often called the red priest because of his beautiful red hair. His father Giovanni Vivaldi was also a professional violinist, while also being his music teacher. He left to study for the priesthood when he was around 14 or 15, and was ordained in 1703. Scientists have used animals for biomedical research to help further their limited understanding of anatomy and physiology for thousands of years. It could be argued that the use of animal testing in the past has led to the current level of understanding and medical research that has saved many lives. However, the techniques used by Aristotle and others should now be considered antiquated. • 43. Three Types Of Truth What is truth? It is a very confusing word since people cannot definitely describe what is identical truth. Where is the border of lie and truth which makes them different and separates them? People tend not to tell every detail, and it makes the other party understand situation in a wrong way. For example, one boy fought with someone in school also fell off stairs at the same time. Afterwards he goes home and his mother asks him what happened to him? He just tells her that he fell off the stairs however, this is not the exact truth. Does this kind of situations define truth? Therefore, truth is a mysterious matter. First of all, Oliver Kim claims that there are three types of trues. Correspondence theory of truth, coherence theory of truth and the pragmatic theory of truth: Correspondence, states that proposition is true if it corresponds to (or reflects) reality. If someone mentions that it is snowing (the proposition), then it is true when we see the snow falling outside. Nonetheless, what is the reality in this matter? It is true to everyone that human senses can deceive people. Hence, it can be true that something reality does exists. Furthermore, coherence theory of truth states, a proposition is true if it is with other things that are considered true . Depending on this idea whether the statement is real or not is ... • 44. Karen Miss Representation Miss Representation speaks to many of the principles of representation we have learned in this course. The film s overarching message that there are not enough good role models and too many bad ones for women in media directly relates to the ideas of descriptive representation. Moreover, the consumption of media that objectifies and sexualizes women, as well as the call to boycott said media, while not stated in the film, is based upon the ideas of representative claims making and the acceptance and rejection of these claims. Descriptive representation is one the themes addressed throughout the film. At one point, it is stated that Without more women in politics, we just don t really have democratic legitimacy . An example was given of Karen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed, at the end of the film, there is a call to action to boycott media that seek to objectify women and instead support those that highlight women s accomplishments. Here, these media are the makers of the claim that their subject, the accomplished woman or the objectified sex symbol, represents women, the object , to their audience, the consumers. Of course it is the audience that decides the whether to accept or reject the claim (Saward 2010). Thus, the film s argument in its call to action is to reject the claim that the sex object represents women rather than the accomplished woman, using the strategy of boycotting the medium. At the same time, it is implied throughout the film that women are passively accepting the former claim through its existence alone. Instead of active acceptance or rejection of the claims made by media to represent women, the film argues that it is this hegemony, the sheer amount of media that make this claim to objectify women, that causes the claim to be accepted by the audience. Of course, it is not only women that are the audience to this claim, and not all women choose to passively accept this claim. Some women noted in the film, such as Sally Ride, the first female astronaut, chose to reject this claim rather than waiting for a female astronaut role model . On the other hand, many men, as consumers of media and thus also the audience of these claims to represent women, choose to accept the sex symbols as valid representatives for women. Thus, the film cites how women like Carol Jenkins receive hate mail that is against her gender and sexuality and how men believe that a woman cannot be a surgeon or a news anchor or President of the United ... A Multi Agent Cross Platform Modelingand- NetLogo: Where We Are, Where We re Going Paulo Blikstein, Dor Abrahamson, and Uri Wilensky ABSTRACT NetLogo [3], a multi agent cross platform modelingand simulation environment, has been enhanced with new capabilities. We explain selected simulations from our Models Library and describe recent enhancements (e.g., 3D) and demonstrate extensions (e.g., music). We focus on H u b N e t [5], a technological infrastructure for facilitating participatory simulations [6], run these activities with participants, and discuss learning experiences afforded by these activities. INTRODUCTION NetLogo [3] is a multi agent programming and modeling environment for simulating complex phenomena. It is designed for both research and education and is used across a wide range of disciplines (e.g., Figure 1, across) and education levels. NetLogo NetLogo s low threshold, high ceiling design philosophy is inherited from Logo [1]. NetLogo is simple enough that students and teachers can easily design and run simulations, and advanced enough to serve as a powerful tool for researchers in many disciplines. Novices will find an easy to learn, intuitive, and well documented programming language (see Figure 2, across) with an elegant graphical interface. Researchers can take advantage of NetLogo s advanced features, such as BehaviorSpace that runs automated experiments, 3D visualization, user extensibility, a System Dynamics Modeler that enables mixing agent based and aggregate representations, and ... • 46. Why Is It Important To Engage Young People In... Young people bring a new perspective to the concept of leadership. Their age suggests limitations to what is seen as conventional markers of leadership, however they still have the ability to lead or influence others within a given context. Freire argues that knowledge gained from living experience should not be rejected or valued less than developed knowledge. Living experience plays a valid part in understanding the larger context. Young people may not understand the complexities of the democratic system and broader contexts, but this does not invalidate their worldview and living experience of how the decisions made impact them. Moreover, their living experience brings detail and richness to the decision making process. However, young people can be easily marginalized in the decision making processes, largely due to the lack of legal standing when under the age of eighteen. Young people who are unable to vote are largely left to other measures such as protests and petitions (Freire). Empowerment is, therefore, critical to the participation for them to become active in the context and power relationships they are involved in. Empowered young people hold elected representatives and other delegates accountable for the decisions they make, and the power they have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is it under the constitution that the government is obligated to engage young people in decision making? Has the government ratified a strategic action plan unique for young people? In order for young people to be decision makers on policies that affect them, the government, young people and community organizations need to increase awareness of the importance of youth engagement and participation. • 47. Marketing Strategy Of Nokia Background Nokia was the world s largest mobile phone maker for 14 years. The company was once acclaimed for its marketing strategy success for changing mobile phones from just a communication device to everyday fashion accessories. However, in today s global smartphone market, Nokia has only 3% of the market share and is declining. The company s decreasing sales was an obvious sign of vulnerability leading to the selloff of its mobile device business to Microsoft in 2013 (Surowiecki, 2013). Marketing Concept The marketing concept is the philosophy that companies analyze consumers needs and then develop products or services to satisfy them ( Marketing Principle , 2012, p. 11). For Nokia, before Microsoft acquiring its business unit, mobile phone was its number one offerings. The company was able to create and define the market from its superior smartphone designs and early adoption of technologies such as operating systems, Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), and built in camera (Khedekar, 2012). Marketing Strategy Shortcomings One of the most significant factors of Nokia s decreasing footprint is its failed marketing strategy. • 48. Cause And Effect Of Tornados To form a tornado the atmosphere needs to create an instability. The air closest to the ground will be warm, humid, and have south facing winds. In the upper atmosphere, the air will be cold with west or southwest facing winds. These two components in the upper and lower atmosphere together create the atmospheric instability. Another key component to form a tornado is wind shear. Wind shear is the change in wind speed and direction of wind while the warmer and cooler air are chasing each other around in the circle, creating the height of the tornado. ( Prepare for a Tornado, 2017) Although tornados have been recorded in every continent except for Antarctica most are found in central United States better known as tornado alley a stretch of land from the western part of Texas to North Dakota. On average, there are two thousand tornadoes annually, but two out of three of those tornadoes happen in the United States. The states with the most tornados on average are Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Florida. Tornadoes form in the central part of the United States most commonly because of the reoccurring atmospheric instability from the dry polar air that meets the warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. (Prepare for a Tornado, 2017) A storm capable of producing a tornado can occur at any time but most often they occur in the spring and summer, June and May have the highest number of tornados recorded.
