The palatine tonsils are dense lymphoid tissue located in the lateral wall of the oropharynx and represent the largest accumulation of lymphoid tissue in Waldeyer's ring. They receive blood supply from branches of the maxillary, facial, and lingual arteries and drain into the internal jugular vein.
