Grandmother Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Grandmother" can be both a daunting and emotional task.
On one hand, the personal connection to the topic may flood your mind with memories,
anecdotes, and a myriad of emotions. On the other hand, the challenge lies in translating these
intricate sentiments into a coherent and engaging narrative that resonates with the reader.
Your grandmother, a figure of immense importance and influence in your life, deserves an essay
that not only captures the essence of her character but also does justice to the profound impact
she has had. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between personal anecdotes and
universal themes that allow readers to connect with the narrative on a deeper level.
Navigating through the vast sea of memories and selecting the most poignant ones can be a
formidable task. As you delve into the intricate details of your relationship with your
grandmother, you may find yourself grappling with the challenge of choosing which aspects to
highlight and which to omit. The fear of leaving out a crucial detail or not doing justice to the
complexity of your feelings can add another layer of difficulty to the writing process.
Moreover, the struggle to convey the uniqueness of your grandmother's character while avoiding
clichГ©s and stereotypes can be a tightrope walk. How do you paint a vivid picture of someone
who means the world to you without resorting to overly sentimental language? Striking the right
tone becomes crucial in ensuring that the essay reflects the authenticity of your emotions while
maintaining a universal appeal.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of your grandmother demands not just writing
skills, but a delicate balance between emotional vulnerability and literary finesse. It requires the
ability to weave a narrative that transcends the personal and becomes relatable to a broader
audience. The challenge lies in capturing the essence of a deeply personal relationship and
translating it into a piece of writing that is both impactful and universally resonant.
If you find yourself overwhelmed by this task or simply seeking assistance, it's worth noting that
help is available. Services like HelpWriting.net offer a platform where you can order essays on
various topics, including those as personal and nuanced as a "Grandmother Essay." They provide
support in crafting essays that meet your specific needs, allowing you to focus on the emotional

Dragonfly Research Paper
Now that we have covered what exactly an arthropod is and why they (specifically
the uniramians class) are so successful, we can focus on one specific organism and
look deeper into how they evolved to be so successful in the environment they are
in today. The organism that we are going to be focusing on is the dragonfly. The
dragonfly has been around for 300 million years and has manage to stay alive and
thrive in its environments. Back then an ancestor of dragonflies roamed the planet,
its name was Meganeura. Meganeura is a genus of extinct insects from
approximately 300 million years ago, they are related to modern day dragonflies.
In this group one member known as M. permiana was first described be
researchers in Kansas in 1937 as having a wingspan of over 2 feet or 0.6 meters
long. It is still considered one of the largest insects ever to be alive on this planet. To
better understand why prehistoric dragonflies were bigger than modern ones we
must go back in time to take a look at what potentially happened and how the
dragonfly evolved into what it is today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wingless insects first appeared approximately 380 million years ago. The
evolution of insects happened in four stages but for the dragonfly it appears in the
second stage so we will only be looking into the first and second stages. The first
stage is called the Apterygote stage, this term broken down basically means without
wings. During this stage the simplest forms of insects were developed. They had no
wings, or developed leg/ body parts. They also did not go through metamorphosis,
instead they went through something known as ametabolous development.
Ametabolous development basically means that the immature closely resembles the
adult except for the presence of
Essay On Pcr And Gel Electrophoresis
DNA is commonly used in the modern legal system to release the innocent or
imprison the guilty. There are two different ways to create DNA evidence through
science technology, PCR and gel electrophoresis. Polymerase Chain Reaction, PCR,
is used to create thousands to millions of copies of DNA, out of a small piece of DNA
, this piece is used to make a DNA profile. Doing this makes it easier to test the
DNA. PCR is used to find if a gene has pathogens. They are an infectious agent that
creates illness or disease and it s commonly a virus, parasite or bacteria. (1) Gel
electrophoresis is the technique used to separate molecules from DNA, RNA or
proteins, based on the size or electric charge. It can be used in DNA fingerprinting,
the findings and purification of nucleic acids and proteins. Gel electrophoresis can
be used to find pathogens that can be found in blood, tissues or sources like food.
(2) These are some of the methods that are used in court and police cases to discover
DNA.
The process of PCR has 3 steps that repeat in cycles shown in image 1. The first one
is the separation of the two strands of the DNA molecule. This happens by the initial
material being heated to 95 В°C. Every DNA ... Show more content on

Gene probes glow under UV light and have a fluorescent chemical attached to a
short section of single stranded DNA. The chemical is then added to a DNA
strand which contains a complimentary base sequence to a gene responsible for
coding for a particular disease, such as cystic fibrosis. If the gene that is being
looked for is present, then the gene probe will fix to it as it has the same
complimentary base sequence. Once the gel is under UV light it will glow where
the gene is present showing that the specific sequence is in the DNA tested. (5) Gel
electrophoresis can be used to create a DNA profile for forensic purposes, paternity
testing, evolutionary associations amid organisms and to look for genes associated

Objectivity And Standpoint Epistemology
Throughout the history of epistemology, we are baffled by the haunting spectre of
objectifying our knowledge claims to attain certitude in our knowledge systems.
There are different systems in accordance with our different times and we are
always in the drive to dispute those who have come before us. However, the main
question is what does it mean to be objective? Philosophers have always anchored
the perspective of objectivity along the lines of truth the allegiance of our claims to
the reality of the world. Others have anchored it on the opposite of subjectivity which
is the knowledge away from personal biases and conditionings. Standpoint
epistemology brings forth its attempt to break or permeate this barrier between our
objectivity and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I, for one, believe that my discipline is in itself socialized in that our primary method
is in ethnography and interview method. Our data is primarily gathered through
immersion to societies and key individuals. However, the thing that I think we lack is
the analysis of the data and the texts that these societies have. I believe the discourse
analysis can bring us closer to understanding the people through the ways their
language function in structuring their thoughts and actions and the ways they interact
with people lying outside the contexts of their own
The Affects of Methamphetamines
Sometimes people forget that methamphetamine hurts not only individuals, but
families, neighborhoods and entire communities as well. You might not be using
methamphetamine or know anyone who is but that doesn t mean it s not having
an effect on you. A methamphetamine lab can operate unnoticed in a neighborhood
for years, causing serious health hazards to everyone around. The problems with
meth are widespread. Children and the general public may be affected by the
fumes from meth labs operating in or near their homes. The prison system is
overwhelmed by the needs of incarcerated meth users. Hospital emergency
departments (ED) report that meth is a significant drug problem. The cost of meth
labs to society is large. A study done by the University of Arkansas found the cost
to prevent abuse in one county to be around $20 million. Although many measures
have been placed, abuse has been steadily increasing. In 2003, there was a 68%
increase in workers who tested positive. Surprisingly, over 70% of users are
actively employed. In particular, the lab problem is growing significantly in the
Midwest and Mid Atlantic areas since they migrated from California in the early
80s. The popular meth production method known as the shake and bake liter bottle
method results in serious burns. To prevent seizures by officers, meth labs are
frequently guarded by attack dogs. Many labs are found in secluded areas and hikers
and campers have been shot after accidentally coming across them.

Judgment Of Io and Callisto

Judgment of Io and Callisto
The uncompassionate nature of the mighty Olympian Gods leads to the hardships of
two maidens; Io and Callisto as described in Ovid s Metamorphosis. The struggles of
both maidens; one a mortal and the other a divine nymph are fairly similar but have
subtle differences. Bothwere victims of a sexual violence committed by Jupiter; were
punished by his jealous wife Juno; were changed into animals by the Gods. The
terrible treatment by the Gods and the uncompassionate attitude of the divine towards
them is a theme shared in the two stories. Helpless, Io and
Callisto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the two myths it is clear that the Gods have no regards for these two
maiden s lives and morals. They have an uncompassionate attitude towards Io and
Callisto. As leader of the Gods and having no one to hold him accountable for his
actions, Jupiter rapes both maidens with no regard to what the consequences his
actions will have on Io and Callisto. Jupiter, seeing her there weary and
unprotected, said Here, surely, my wife will not see my cunning, or if she does find
out it is, oh it is, worth a quarrel!? (prior to the rape of Callisto). However,
Jupiter is not the only one who displays that same attitude toward the maidens.
Juno s jealousy and frustration in her inability to control her husband s infidelities
leads her to alter Io and Callisto s fates by punishing them for her husband s
actions. She is vengeful with no regard to those she punishes. The Gods, Jupiter
and more specifically Juno display a cruel mind set toward these women. When
Jupiter transforms Io into a heifer, she is still able to remember her former life as a
human: she licked her father s hand and kissed his palm, could not hold back her
tears, and if only words could have come she would have begged for help, telling
A Day in the Life of a Dj
Have you ever wondered as you were driving down the road listening to the radio,
How do they do that? I certainly have, and so for my junior job shadow experience
I chose to shadow Mike Shannon from 99.7 WDJX, a very popular radio
personality in Louisville, Kentucky. I chose to shadow him because I was
interested in how DJs do their job and how a radio station is run. I thought that the
job would be fun, exciting, and I thought it would be interesting. Going in to the
Radio station I already knew that it was probably a high stress job and that on
occasion it was very exciting. Some of the questions I had going into the situation
were, what kind of history is behind the radio and radio personalities and what kind
of education do you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self employed DJs usually pay for everything themselves. Some DJs become well
known among the community and are asked to make public appearances around
the community. Most DJs that are well know are the charismatic ones who are
wild and crazy on air. Which leads me to my next question I had what kind of
personality do you need to be a radio personality and what is the environment like?
DJs are always trying to please the people. If people don t listen to you the ratings
go down. When I asked Mike what kind of personality is needed he responded by
saying, The person needs to be positive and outgoing. Also you need to be very
patient with people who call in because not everyone is going to be nice and happy
when they call in. So you need to be able to hold back rude comments you might
want to say to them. (Mike) DJs must be able to multitask and between watching
the clock, choosing music, answering the phones, reading reports, entertaining
guests and the audience. Again everything is about timing. DJs are required to plan
ahead and be able to keep up with everything that is going on. They must be able to
play the next song or commercial on time. It can be difficult to keep up but once
you do it for awhile it gets easier. Working at a radio station can be fun but stressful
at the same time. Dust and temperature control are very important parts of keeping
the equipment running and in good condition. DJs may not always have jobs either,
especially
How Did Chaucer Influence His Age
There is an age called the age of Chaucer. At that time, there was a social and
intellectual movement, and then there was the terrible epidemic called the Black
Death which brought poverty, unrest and revolt among the peasants, and the growing
spirit of inquiry, which would cause people to be critical of the ways of the church.
In those era, there was a very famous poet. His name is Geoffrey Chaucer with his
masterpiece entitled The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer was a great writer in a well
developed period and had close connections with the rulers of his era, so it was not
surprising that the age was given the same name as his name. Based on that, in this
essay will discuss about his life, his work, until his death.
Geoffrey Chaucer is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is considered the first writer to show the power of the English language to write
literature and not to use French or Latin. Canterbury Tales (1378 1400) is a framed
story about a pilgrimage to Thomas ГЎ Becket temple in Canterbury, Kent. Thirty
pilgrims gathered at the Tabard Inn, Southwark. They agreed to hold their
wandering contest, and Harry Bailly, the innkeeper, acted as the host of the
contest. Most of the pilgrims were introduced with a short sketch called General
Prologue. In total there are 24 stories interspersed with short scenes containing the
conversation, and usually between the host and the pilgrim. Chaucer did not
complete this story fully, because only 24 pilgrims told of his wandering. The 24
stories are The Knight s Tale, The Miller s Tale, The Reeve s Tale, The Cook s
Tale, The Man of Law s Tale, The Wife of Bath s Tale, The Friar Tale s, The
Summoner s Tale, The Clerk s Tale, The Merchant s Tale, The Squire s Tale, The
Franklin s Tale, The Canon s Yeoman s Tale, The Physiscian s Tale, The Paleon s
Tale, The Shipman s Tale, The Priestess s Tale, The Tale of Sir Thopas, The Tale of
Melibeus (in prose), The Monk s Tale, The Manciple s Tale, and The Parson s Tale
(in prose), and end with Chaucer s Retraction. Not all pilgrim stories are complete,
some of which contain only prologues and
Edgar Allan Poe s Short Story Effect
Edgar Allen Poe asserted that a story should be constructed to achieve a single effect
and every word, detail, character, and incident in a story should contribute to this
effect. Poe will commonly establish the story s theme and its single effect within the
first paragraph of his short stories. The main characters in his short stories are often
bizarre, mad men, and the atmosphere of the story is very commonly dark and
tenebrous. Poe evokes terror initially by trapping the reader in an ominous room
along with the characters, building onto the terror by revealing the narrator s constant
derailing of thought and lack of communication with Lady Rowena. Initially the
narrator is so infatuated with Ligeia, however... Show more content on

This hold Ligeia has over the narrator shines through as the narrator doesn t speak
to Lady Rowena while she s almost dead, instead he saw not so Rowena but he
became distinctly aware of a gentle foot fall upon the carpet, and near the couch .
The narrator focuses on something he perceives as Ligeia, further contributing to
feelings of terror, as one cannot be sure if this is a real sighting of Ligeia. If Ligeia
was truly in the room with the narrator and Lady Rowena, then it would have to be
a ghost or simply a hallucination from the opium. Terror is also instilled into the
reader, as one must fear for Rowena. She is left unattended while just about on her
death bed, and the only one within ten feet of her to take care of her is her opium
addicted, hallucinating husband. The narrator is perceived as so dosed with
drugs that he can t tell what s real or just a hallucination and doesn t seem the least
bit interested in speaking to his wife. Poe reveals that out of nowhere the narrator
sees four large drops of a brilliant and ruby colored liquid . This obscure liquid is
foreign to the narrator, who fails to tell Rowena about it because he doesn t believe
it was really put in her wine. The ambience at this moment is extremely intense
because one cannot know if this poison is real or a figment of the narrator s drugged
imagination. This theme of terror is very prominent in other Poe works as
Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
Every man has opinions, some which are stronger than others, but do these
thoughts define the man? In Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee s play Inherit
The Wind opinions do not define the people who advocate them. Each character in
this play has viewpoints that influence their actions. The bravery, honesty and
determination required to express an opinion defines a person more than the
opinion, allowing one to respect a man who advocates unpopular opinions. When a
man stands up for his beliefs despite their unpopularity, he exemplifies great
bravery. While Bertram Cates may not have been the most brave man when the
trial began, he later addresses the courtroom by saying, I feel I am... I have been
convicted of violating an unjust law. I will continue in the future, as I have in the
past, to oppose this law in any way I can, (115). Bert bravely states his point of
view in his speech and makes it clear that he stands behind Darwinism. While picking
the jury members, Drummond [objects] to all [the] Colonel talk, (42) because he
believes it interferes with a fair trial. In addition to annoying Brady, Drummond
objects to the title because he is brave enough to stand up to what he thinks is unjust.
On a more general note, Drummond had the braveryto go to Hillsboro as the defense
attorney for Bert even though winning the case was nearly impossible and there was
no pay. Although their opinions were not popular in the play, Bert and Drummond
show great bravery by standing up for

screen captures that guide you through the potential of their eLearning solution. The
system that Intellinex would set up is very different than one of a traditional
eLearning provider. They actually specialize in setting up a system very similar to
that of a traditional eLearning provider. Intellinex develops a system for companies
that allows them to create an index of classes. Customers can have their program set
up so employees can request courses and supervisors approve the course. They
provide the program that monitors the student s progress. They even have software
that allows the client to set the content completely on their own. The client can
choose everything from the display and content of information to the type of
questions that will be developed to assess the student. Their market is larger
companies that that have a need to create their own internal online courses specific to
the company needs rather than an individual consumer. Individuals would have no
need for their services. Their project contracts are usually over $1 million. (Howell 2)

This assembly of the playground area took a total of two and a half weeks, and the
remainder of the month was left to rigorous testing of the structure.
Month 3: Splash Area Construction, so far, has gone as planned, until a three
straight days of rain occurred. This pushed back the start of the splash area (see
appendix diagram Splash Area) by a week. This part of the process did not include the
community involvement and was completed by the hired construction crew plus a
structural engineer. The elements of the splash park include galvanized steel parts to
make the different structures that water will shoot, spray, and pour down. Also,
during the laying of the foundation process, holes were made in order to allow for
water to shoot up from the ground, allow for the placement of made structures, and
to drain the water out. The different colors chosen were to help bring about good
vibes and fun times. Once every structure was composed, it was set and mounted in
its respective place. The process took four week exactly and passed the structural

Gender Roles In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ« tells the story of the title character as she grows
from a child to a young woman who becomes a governess and falls in love with her
employer, Edward Rochester, whom she works as a governess for. Sandra Gilbert and
Susan Gubar present their analysis of the novel in their work titled Madwoman in the
Attic. One reputable argument presented states that BrontГ« depicts Jane and
Rochester as spiritual equals through their interactions, but shows that there is an
underlying inequality through the existence of Rochester s secrets.
During the Victorian era, it was unheard of for women and men to be equals. While
men held all positions of power, women were expected to be submissive, being
confined to the household doing domestic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He himself senses this trickery as a source of power, and therefore, in Jane s case
at least, an evasion of that equality in which he claims to believe (Gibert and Gubar
354). Rochester s previous experience with women and his hidden knowledge of
sex in general does inhibit the two characters from being equal especially after the
two are engaged, as Jane is practically clueless in the area. The biggest secret of the
novel, the fact that Rochester has hidden his wife, Bertha Mason, locked in the attic
for ten years, is actually the one factor of the story that suggests the master,
Rochester, is inferior to the servant, Jane. It is revealed that Rochester married
Bertha for status, money and sex, which goes against everything Jane stands for
(Gilbert and Gubar 356). Rochester also tells Jane about his relationship with his
daughter Adele s mother, Celine, whom he was never married to. He does tell Jane
that he is extremely shameful of his past actions, causing her to eventually forgive
him for his wrongdoings despite feeling completely betrayed upon the discovery of

Descriptive Essay About Six Flags
About seven years ago, I went to Six Flags for the first time ever. I was only about
ten years old at the time, and of course I was extremely nervous. I had a lot of
questions about it because of course it was all new to me with it being my first
time going to an amusement park. I had asked about the big rides they have of
course, the really popular water park they have at Six Flags, and of course I had to
ask about the good amusement parkfood. As soon as I got there, my heart instantly
dropped.
I was at the park, and it was me and my family taking a trip to the best amusement
park in missouri. We took off from the house, in Fulton, Missouri. It was about an
hour and a half drive to get to Six Flags in St. Louis. We finally got there, the lines
were super long, and the park was packed already at about eleven in the morning.
Me and my little sister were both extremely excited to get past the long line, since
it was both of our first time being there. We walk through the gate, and my heart
instantly dropped on spot. The rides were super big. With loops and corkscrews, and
that made me go from excited to scared quick.I was only about ten years old;
therefore, I was not able to ride that many rides, and I was kind of relieved to hear
that from my family. Since I was too young and too short to ride any rides, me and
my sister went to the water park. The rides were still really big and scary, but also
very fun at the same time, there was quite a few cool water slides that I
I Disagree With Kenneth Waltz’S Positionthat Nuclear...
I disagree with Kenneth Waltz s position that nuclear proliferation makes the world
a safer place, and how best to measure the spread of nuclear weapons, particularly
in regimes that are developing, unstable, or third world. 1 While some scholars see
nuclear weapons as a threat to stability and peace due to their mass destruction
capability and the potential for horrific fallout triggered by ethnic and geopolitical
instability, others see those weapons as holding the power to maintain an appropriate
balance of power between opposing regimes at times of tension and during periods of
low level conflict. This debate is reflected in international relations.
Waltz argues that nuclear weapons keep the world secure, as states would not take the
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for second strike deterrence, Waltz states that there are two necessities: survival
of a first attack and the ability to inflict sufficient damage. Without absolute
certainty of destruction of the opposition s arsenal, a country would be less likely
to attack. Because of uncertainty about the size of another country s arsenal size,
nations would not take the risk of retaliation; Even the largest states recoil from
taking adventurous steps if the price of failure is the possible loss of a city or two
1. The problem I see with this position is that nations may sometimes benefit from
spotting signatures that are carelessly sent to enemy intelligence agencies which may
inadvertently reveal secret information about the size and location of otherwise
hidden military forces. For example, Pakistani road construction crews inadvertently
signaled the location of secret M 11 missiles by placing wide radius roads at
Sargodha Missile Base . The failure of the Soviet military to keep its 1962 missile
deployment in Cuba secret was similarly caused by construction crew routines that
produced signatures which highlighted the location of the missiles. The Star of
David pattern of air defense missile battery placements and slash marks on missile
pads gave away the Cuban secret to the Americans.
Regarding the accidental use of nuclear weapons, Waltz dismisses this
How Did Industrialization Affect The Economy After 1870

was the fuel and lighting prices during this era, with the high of 150 in indexed

In Document B, which was explained by David A. Wells, an engineer and

but as a private in the ranks, obeying orders, keeping step, as it were, to the tap of

the modern factory are, as a rule, taught to do one thing to perform one and
generally a simple operation; and when there is no more of that kind of work to
do, they are in a measure helpless. (Document B) Which meant that workers at the
factory basically don t hold responsibility to themselves, as workers mainly are

how union were created, to regain benefits, as well for better working
Ancient Rome And Its Effects On The World
Ancient Rome was built on hills, the people living on the top of the hills, and farming
closer to the bottom. The climate of Ancient Rome was humid and cool and ranged
from 55 to 95 Fahrenheit year round. The Alps to the far north of Rome protected
them from threats coming from North Europe, while not isolating them on the
peninsula. Being on the Italian peninsula was useful for trading and sailing to other
areas in the Mediterranean to conquer land. Rome did not trade as much as some
other civilizations around the Mediterranean such as the Egyptians. Most people in
Ancient Romewere farmers and sold most of what they grew to the markets. Rich
landowners had lots of land and either rented it to poorer farmers, or had their many
slaves farm it for them. Some wealthier shopkeepers sailed around the Mediterranean
trading for papyrus and similar items that ordinary people could afford; however,
some traders went further into the Indian Ocean, or West Asia, some traders even
imported silk all the way from China, which only the richest could afford.
The richest and most powerful people in Ancient Rome were the patricians. The
patricians were the wealthiest and were usually part of the Senate, or other
governmental figures. Each year an assembly of the citizens and equites/landowners
would vote new members of the Senate into office. The social structure of Ancient
Rome was a hierarchy. The highest class were the patricians, followed by the
plebeians, who were ordinary citizens
Is Shakespeare Still Relevant Essay
It has been over 400 years since William Shakespeare s death in 1616, and it is
continually debated whether or not his works of literature are still relevant.
Shakespeare not only built a framework for the universal themes of life and human
nature, but he also engaged in a role involved in transforming the English language.
Furthermore, a number of words and phrases spoken today are derived from various
Shakespearean plays. The phenomenon behind Shakespeare remains relevant in our
current society; his works are an essential piece in understanding the themes of love,
loss, betrayal, and tragedy. The essence of Shakespeare s playscan be described as not
of an age, but for all time, according to Ben Jonson.
The primary basis of Shakespeare s plays relies on the complexity of the English

Films and novels are two sources of media that continue to emphasize Shakespeare
s work in order to highlight certain themes. Two notable portrayals of Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet include West Side Story and Gnomeo and Juliet. The primary
basis of this play focuses upon forbidden love. By adapting this work to film,
audiences are better able to understand the complex message behind such a play. If
Shakespeare wasn t still a relevant component after hundreds of years, authors and
filmmakers would not be attempting to convey his message in order to captivate an
audience.
Furthermore, Shakespeare s relevance is also portrayed as part of national
campaigns. One particular motivational campaign, Pass It On, developed a
billboard in regards to Shakespeare that states, Words never had it so good. Do thy
best. In honor of Shakespeare s relentless creativity, Pass It On wants to encourage
its viewers to continue to strive for the better. If Shakespeare can make an impact,
any other individual can do the same by doing their

Financial statements provide information of value to company officers and various
external parties, such as investors and lenders of funds. Publicly owned companies
are required to publish general purpose financial statements that include a balance
sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows. Financial statements issued for
external distribution are prepared according to generally accepted accounting
principles (GAAP).

Essay on The Evolution of Reggae Music
The Evolution of Reggae Music
Reggae has sustained the test of time and remains one of the world s last genuine
folk music. The evolution of Reggae music can be traced back to the early 1900 s
with Mento , which is a simple music art form of Jamaican folk music with strong
African roots. Reggae music is protest songs against racism, corruption and injustice.
It has close links with a religion based around the Bible that is re interpreted from a
black s perspective, Rastafarianism .
The key features of Reggae music are the 4/4 time signatures, the emphasised beats 2
and 4 of each bar melody, the short repeated bass/guitar riffs, the syncopation, the

The first ever reggae tune was Nanny Goat , by Larry and Alvin. Millie Small, and
her debut single My Boy Lollipop was the perfect example of the success that this
new generation of peppy horn melodies and up tempo vocal sounds. My Boy
Lollipop was the song responsible for creating a massive explosion of Reggae music
in the local industry. During the Reggae era, artists like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and
Bunny Wailer, Jimmy Cliff, King Stich and Burning Spear started to emerge and
incorporate the offbeat syncopated music style of Reggae into their songs,
transforming the songs into popular hits. Bob Marley was born in 1945 and he
first joined Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer to form The Wailers . Then he produced
his own soul, rock steady (romantic soul), ska and close harmony doo wop style
songs, for example Catch a fire and I shot the Sheriff .
With the war era of the 60 s approaching, reggae finally took form with a mellow
beat, conscious and emotional lyrics and bands that spoke the words of the people.
The spiritual influence of reggae captured fans worldwide and for the first time
ever; reggae was a real influence internationally. Bob Marley and the Wailers
produced songs of hope and freedom that related to the wars happening between
Vietnam. The song War by Bob Marley and the Wailers impacted the world. These

Essay about Our Trip to Wyoming was Beautiful
Wyoming is a beautiful place We never drove farther west than Iowa. Going to
Wyoming was something my brothers and I were looking forward too. Talking
about all the activities we will be doing and places we will be stopping at made us
more excited. It got me wishing we were going that day, but I knew we had to wait
a couple a weeks. Waiting was the worst part of the trip. I could not focus on
anything besides getting ready for the trip. As those long weeks came by we
finally were packed to go. It was 4 a.m. and my parents were packing the car and
telling us to bring everything out. We decided to take the minivan, so there was
plenty of space. My older brother always got the back seats to himself so he had his
bags back there with him. My... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then we wanted to make no stops from here to Yellowstone. Driving along by the
mountain near Yellowstone they told us to go around but we did not want to
waste 2 hours so we went up the mountain nice and slow. Since the mountain was
so steep it burned our tires. When we reached Yellowstone we made my dad pull
over and we stopped at Yellowstone Lake. I remember my dad telling us that the
ice just melted from the mountain so it was cold. We did not care we went in
anyway, he was right. It was freezing cold so as we came out and our dad was
smiling, he bet us we could not reach to the middle of the lake. We decided to try
and make a raft to get us to the middle and to paddle with are hands there and back.
As we tried to make a raft out of the huge logs we found near by we could not find
anything to tie them together so we just decided to hold on to all of them. As you
can only imagine, it failed and we went into the water. We gave up after a half hour
and got back in to the car. It was so beautiful going up the side of the mountain. I
remember going up and seeing a mama wolf, she had two little cubs playing by the
logs. We stayed in Yellowstone that night. We got up early the next morning and
saw old faithful waiting for it to irrupt. Saw other geysers and some colorful ones.
We went back to the cabin and as we were eating diner we saw a pack of wolves run
by. That night all we heard the wolves so close but then it disappeared in the middle

Social Intervention For Depression And Social Isolation
Social Intervention for Depression and Social Isolation Among the Elderly Social
isolation can be a major health problem for many older adults (Dickens, Richards,
Greaves, Campbell, 2011). Social isolation involves, individuals lacking social
connections and engagement with others (Nicholson, 2012). Depression in elderly
populations has become more prevalent with the aging population (Pittock, 2012).
Depression has negative effects on many facets of an elderly persons life, including
quality of life and functional abilities (Ell, 2006). Depression rates in those 65+
living alone has been found to be between 1% 4% (Mojtabai Olfson, 2004). A recent
meta analysis found, those with strong social networks had a 50% reduction in the...

While Fukukawa et al. (2004) found that family social support moderates the
negative consequences of health problems which in turn reduces depressive
symptoms. Emotional and instrumental supports were also found to be protective
factors. Chou, Chi and Chow (2004) found that family social support is a mediator
between financial independence and depression, finding that financial strain acts
as a partial mediator between welfare participation and depression. However, in
contrast to previous research findings they found that family social support was
not a moderator for source of income and depression. Researchers have identified
several main gaps in this research area. These include difficulties in measuring
social isolation, lack of randomisation in studies, as well as small sample sizes,
meta analysis being conducted purely on English written studies and very limited
research that has been carried out in Australia (Dickens, et al., 2011). Very few
studies who look at social isolation in both urban and rurall environments (Luggen
Rini, 1995). Bruce (2002) emphasised that psychosocial factors needed to be
studied in the context of biological variables. While Pittock (2012) stresses the need
for more research into cost effective treatment options for social isolation and
depression in the elderly research into residential care is lacking, as well as limited
studies focusing on protective factors for social isolation and depression. Grenade and
Graphic Novel Conventions
I used five different conventions in my Graphic Novel. I used different lengths
panels to symbolize how long the time in the panel is and also to emphasize the
moods in them. For example, when Ursula tells Sylvie how she feels about
remembering events from her previous life. Also I used facial expressions in order
to help the reader sympathize with the characters and to help further, show the
emotions of the characters. Hand actions also helped with showing the expressions
and it helps the ready to know in which tone the character is saying their line. In
order to show a memory, I used blurred edges of the panel to symbolize that it is
unclear as it is not happening right this moment. Also I used the dotted box in order
to symbolize whisper and to extenuate that it is not a common belief that some people
have a second sight.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
EVERYTHING FAMILIAR SOMEHOW was the first thing Ursula said in this
chapter, so I decided to keep it as it gets the entire scene going. I kept it in all
capital letter, in order to keep it as close as possible to original text. Also I used the
yelling bubble to further emphasize Ursula s frustration that will be evident later on
in this scene. Words and phrases echoed themselves, strangers seemed like old
acquaintances. It is like things had happened many times before Ursula says this
when Sylvie does not believe her and says that she has dГ©jГ vu. I used a facial
expression, which shows worrisome, in order to emphasize that Ursula is saying
this because Sylvie does not believe her. I constantly have the terrible fear, fearful
terror that I carry around inside me. The dark landscape within. I think this is an
important quote because it shows how Ursula is feeling about having these
memories. I emphasized it by her facial expression and her hands to show that she is
scared. Also in this scene Sylvie s expression shows concern for
Rousseau Versus Mill
The term civil or social liberties is one that garners a lot of attention and focus from
both Rousseau and Mill, although they tackle the subject from slightly different
angles. Rousseau believes that the fundamental problem facing people s capacity to
leave the state of nature and enter a society in which their libertyis protected is the
ability to find a form of association that defends and protects the person and goods
of each associate with all the common force, and by means of which each one,
uniting with all, nevertheless obeys only himself and remains as free as before
(Rousseau 53). Man is forced to leave the state of nature because their resistance to
the obstacles faced is beginning to fail (Rousseau 52). Mill does not... Show more

Mill might be tempted to argue that there are aspects of the general will that
citizens should be fearful of. One of the forces that Mill identifies as the most
stifling towards liberty is the force of the popular opinion. Clearly, some sort of
protection against tyranny of the magistrate is necessary but not enough as there
needs protection also against the tyranny of the prevailing opinion feeling; against
the tendency of society to impose, by other means than civil penalties, its own
ideas and practices (Mill 9). Mill is noticeably placing more emphasis on the
individual aspects of freedom as opposed to Rousseau who is more in support of a
freedom that only can only be attained through the forfeiting of some these
individual liberties in order to become a part of the collective and achieve his
version of civil freedom, the most important of all liberties. Diversity of opinions
is a highly valued societal good for Mill and he believes this to be an important
path to revealing the truths and securing liberty. In ensuring people will enjoy the
liberty they deserve, Mill leaves a lot more room for government intervention than
Rousseau does in his version of the best society. This can be mainly attributed to the
fact that Rousseau seems to have more faith in people and sees them as inherently
good as their only source of evil was the corrupting forces of the

Human And Social Development Level Of Development
Originally, the proverb what gets measured gets managed is applied to the
business field. However, in this essay, the writer tries to explain this principle in
the social development level. At first, this essay argue the reason why we need to
measure the level of development, it is because producing measurements about an
activity gives you a handle on it, a way to improve it. This paper goes on to
critically examine the varied ways to measure development. A developed country is
one with a high Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, as defined by the World
Bank. But this does not tell the whole story, country s level of development is not a
fixed state. In addition to the factors of economic growth, human and social
development also playing an important role. In the end, the advantage and
disadvantage of these methods are summarized, some points need to be studied more
are also given. What is development? Measuring development is about how advanced
one country is compared to other countries, or to the same country in the past. But to
answer this question, one must first have a conceptual framework about what
development means. Though the term development usually refers to economic
growth, it can apply to political, social structure as well. It is true that economic
growth may produce greater income in a country. But history offers a number of
example, by increasing nation s wealth, without improving the average living
standard. This happened in oil producing
Tomorrow When The War Began
The movie Tomorrow When The War Began is directed by Stuart Beattie. This
movie is about a group of adolescents whose their country has been invaded and
destroyed. Ellie Linton is the main character in this movie, she is the leader of the
team. She also had a mess relationship with Lee. The challenge that Ellie has to face
is that when the soldiers coming to catch them, she blows up the soldiers with the
lawnmower.
In the movie, the scene when Ellie used Kevin s clothes to wrap around the stick,
lit the stick; through to the lawnmower. In this scene, we can see a very low
camera angle to show the dramatic, how she solved the problem and set up the
ground level. At this point, Ellie remains calm and collected and is still able to use
good judgment when everyone else is panicking. When the mower exploded, the
orange fire cloud just like it going to hit the viewer. The thing that scared me most
was the thought that maybe all the violent things I d been doing, with the ride on
mower and the truck, had transformed me in the space of a couple of nights into a
raging monster. This quote shows Ellie had no time for anything time to think what
going to happen next. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Saving Private Ryan Historical Accuracy
Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 movie directed by Steven Spielberg about World War
II Invasion of Normandy. This film, was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and
won many other awards among the cast, picture, and so forth. Spielberg did a great
job on getting a lot of things correct to what happened in real life. Although, the
movie isn t entirely correct with certain scenes and topics. At the very beginning of
the movie they showed the United States Army invading the Omaha Beach. In this
scene, they showed all of the casualties on the beach. The scene was able to show
the sand was just covered in blood and bodies. Those bodies lying on the sand
weren t all dead either. Some of the bodies on the sand were people still alive, they
were just suffering from their wounds from the gun fires and bombs. This particular
part in the movie was completely true to what actually happened in real life during
WWII. Another thing the movie got correct was them showing a scene of the
Normandy cemetery. The Normandy Cemetery in the movie is actually the cemetery
in France, also known as the Normandy American Cemetery. The cemetery honors
the American troops who died in Europe during the World War II. The movie
portrayed a lot of deaths in the movie. Some people think that the movie was
overexerting, which the movie wasn t. There was a lot of deaths that... Show more

and Copyrighted Material. The purpose of this report was to inform the audience of
the influences of Software Piracy and Copyrighted Material, whilst discussing
examples in which this has happened in society today. The main points that are
mentioned in this report for Software Piracy and Copyrighted Material are
Economic Impacts, Demand for Software, The Future of Software whilst the against

Software piracy may have been happening for a long time, but it can display
variations of positive/negative impacts as stated by Antonio R. AndrГ©s, Rajeev
K. Goel (2012). For example, increasing productivity is a positive impact, due to
many users eager to program, possibly investing in software or wishing to be
involved in software doings. However, it can also present a negative effect as it
can decrease productivity alongside affect economic growth. Yet, if a superior
amount of piracy can fail to provide for developers, then investments will slow
down and economy growth will reduce. On the other hand, piracy can have a good
impact in being able to augment growth in many cases that may result in additional
investments stimulating the economy; as it can tend to become more predictable.
In the figure below, this shows a relation between piracy and economy growth: The
figure above shows that the positive constant of piracy, and growth is effective in
productivity. Nevertheless, piracy can also lower growth in low revenue homelands,
which is something that the government should consider when monitoring the effect
of piracy; in their own nations. 1.3 Demand for Software With software piracy
tending to cover many influences in society, cultural factors has become a key part.
In many cases, one popular factor is software such as video games, as it has a big
influence with people having a high demand for video games
Risk Assessment As A Way Of Profiling Risk
Risk refers to a likelihood, probability, a chance that a loss may occur in a given
organization. Most of the times, there is a high risk when there is vulnerability. In
this case, vulnerability refers to a weakness that the organization has. Risk
assessment refers to the process of identification of potential hazards and proper
analysis of the expected losses if those hazards occur (Homeland Security, n.d.). Risk
assessment as a way of profiling risk according to impact to the organization. Some
organizations have business impact analysis exercises geared towards determination
of potential hazards based risk assessmentapproaches. Organizations risk differ
depending on the size and the type of business they are doing. The disparity in
organizations risk call for different adaptation of risk assessment approaches. Even
with the disparities of the businesses, proper risk managementnot only ranks the risks
according to the seriousness but also identifies the best methods to control risks in an
organization.
Good risk assessment requires an elaborate plan. A risk management plan is a
project management type that helps ensure that an organization reaches desired
goals in a given project (Gibson, 2010). Like every plan, caution should be taken to
make sure that goals of the assessment are achievable given the best accommodation
of time and cost. This calls for organization to have a risk scope. Risk scope simply
identifies the boundaries of a given risk assessment. This is
Influenza Virus Essay
Industrialization and urbanization make people live and work in indoors, and some
studies found that people in industrialized countries spend around 90% of their
lifetime in the inside of the building [1, 2]. Therefore, it is important to recognize
that, indoor air quality is an important determinant of public health [3]. In indoor air,
the microbial fraction of aerosols present is of fundamental environmental and public
health importance. This fraction is commonly termed bioaerosols and is a mixture
of viable and nonviable microorganisms. The definition of bioaerosol includes
airborne fungi, bacteria and viruses. Influenza viruses are one of bioaerosol in indoor
environment and are among the most common causes of human respiratory
infections. Influenza viruses are among the most significant because they cause high
morbidity and mortality [4]. Influenza viruses are spreaded with different ways such
as; direct contact, indirect contact, large respiratory droplets and aerosols that are

The Effect Of Spending Time On Nature And Its Stress...
Counselors dedicate their lives to helping people emotionally in need, and eventually
this dedication begins to produce distress which, if not dealt with can lead into more
serious issues. One of the more serious issues that counselors are at higher risk to
experience as job related stress increases is burnout. In order for counselors to
maintain healthy levels of compassion while maintaining their ability to help their
clients, implementing a self care plan. This self care plan enables counselors to
effectively cope with frequent job related stress. If the self care plan does not
effectively cope with this stress, then burnout is likely to be experienced. However,
there are successful strategies to prevent burnout and enables the counselor to help
hurting people for the long duration. One such plausible self care plan that effectively
copes with job related stress includes frequent exposures to nature and the outdoors.
In this paper, I examine the relationship between spending time in nature and its stress
reducing capabilities. Because burnout is a stress induced syndrome, attempts to
decrease stress levels with nature exposures, should also prevent burnout.
Unfortunately, most counselors who experience burnout seldom engage in healthy
coping strategies nor do they engage in them frequently enough. It is important for
counselors to maintain healthy coping strategies in order to help their clients to the
best of their abilities for the long duration. By
Analysis of The Waste Land by T. S. Eliot
If RenГ© Descartes Cogito Ergo Sum embodies the essence of what it means to be a
unified and rational Cartesian subject, then T.S. Eliot s heap of broken images
eagerly embraces its fragmented and alienated (post)modern counterpart. The
message this phrase bears, resonates throughout the entire poem: from its title, The
Waste Land, to its final mantra Shantih shantih shantih . All words, phrases and
sentences (or just simply images) which make up this poem seem to, in Levi Strauss
words, be a valeur symbolique zero [and the signifier] can take on any value required
, meaning that the images Eliot uses do not have one fixed signification and
consequently conjure up thought provoking ideas that need to be studied (qtd. in...

This epigraph may serve as a way to connect with a certain group of scholars, as not
many people speak the language it is written in, however, when it is read in its
original context it may mean that Eliot does not foresee a very bright future, which
would be in tune with the rest of the poem, furthermore this reference strongly hints at
the use of tarot cards and the notion of randomness in the rest of the poem. The fact
that this epigraph is in a foreign language greatly contributes to the theme of the
poem and is therefore discussed in the next section of this paper. Followed by the
epigraph is a quotation from the Anglican burial service, which serves as the subtitle
of the first part of the poem: 1. The Burial of the Dead . This leads us to additional
intertextuality, ELIOT April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead
land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain.
This time Eliot does not quote another piece of text, however, he does consciously
foregrounds that he uses the opening to Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales (Bennett and

Essay On Orange Is The New Black
Orange is the New Black Orange is the New Black is a television series that
debuted on the online streaming service Netflix in 2013. This show is based on the
memoir, Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women s Prison, written by Piper
Kerman about her time in a minimum security prison. She was convicted of
transporting a suitcase full of drug money ten years prior and sentenced to 15 months
in a Penitentiary in upstate New York. The show chronicles her life in the prisonand
the relationships she forms with the other women she is serving time with. As the
show progresses, you get to know each inmate as a human being, with a large part of
the episodes flashing back to each womans backstory and giving the reason they are
in prison. While some of these women are in for pretty bad crimes, the show has a
way of humanizing them and making the viewers like them. The message that this
show portrays is much louder than the crimes that the women have committed.
Through the past four seasons Orange is the New Black has taken its viewers on an
a emotional roller coaster through the highs and lows of these women s lives in prison.

how this affects its viewers and their perceptions of these groups. By narrowing

Orange is the New Black does shed light on a lot of different minorities, I believe that
the stereotypes it portrays can maintain the ideas that major audiences have about

Turgenev Vs Turrgene
As the title, Fathers and Sons hints, there is a clear split between the landowners
(fathers), and the younger generation when it comes to the peasant question.
Turgenev portrays the landowners as self described progressives who have an
interest in their peasants well being. However, their idea of progress is far more
moderate than what the younger generation believes in, full emancipation. The older
generation seems to still believe that treating the peasants well is in some way an
adequate solution to the troubled system. They don t understand the full breath of
change that must take place. Turgenev also portrays the landowners being
disconnected from peasant life in some unbridgeable way. For example, Turgenev
writes that even though
Bullying And Mass Violence
With sound, scholarly evidence, Newman argues that a majority of school shootings
are caused due to the surroundings of the shooter. Therefore, she examines the
connections of the individual shooters and takes a deeper look at their culture and
communities. She finds that overall, fifty three percent were called names, fourteen
percent were threatened and five percent were physically hurt , and gained the
knowledge that out of many incidents of school shootings, sixty three percent of the
cases were triggered by bullying(Newman 504). There has been a growing body of
research that link a strong relationship between bullying and mass violence. For
instance, Professors Michael Kimmel and Matthew Mahler of Stony Brook
University found that most

all of it helps users to do something, technology is the world. If IT didn t work, and
didn t function, and didn t do what it supposed to do it would be a massive
problem. We won t be able to shop or use ATMs; drive a car or fly a plane; monitor
patients or do the procedures; or communicate the way we do it now. Anything we
touch anything we do is IT related. It s such a powerful tool to create or make a
change, it can diminish the poverty and drive the economy, and if you are someone
who is determined to change the world, IT is the way to do that. People who are
naturally inquisitive, like innovation, cutting edge, excitement and fun will make a
great IT specialist. I think, the world would be a very sad and boring place to live
without technology. Social networking and the way people interact with each other
today gives us so many opportunities to exchange the information, collaborate ideas
and create projects that make our society The Information Technology fields are fast

Essay on Finding Yourself
How can one truly know who they are? It takes years of experience to understand
yourself; your likes, your dislikes, your abilities, and your passions. Sometimes
society will agree with these things, and sometimes it won t. Self identity is the
result of trial and error in terms of resistance to the cultural norms of one s society,
and the lessons learned through such resistance, as demonstrated in Munro s An
Ounce of Cure and Boyle s Greasy Lake.
An Ounce of Cure tells the story of a teenage girl, whom remains unnamed
throughout the entire story, who was brought up in a small town where drinking was
frowned upon, thinking that she was never good enough for her family. She had her
heart broken by a boy at school and became depressed over ... Show more content on

Alice Munro demonstrates the learning of oneself through the resistance to society
via the girl in An Ounce of Cure. Although she knew it wasn t a good idea, and that
her parents and community wouldn t approve of her drinking if they found out, she
resisted that cultural norm and did it anyway. By drinking too much and getting
drunk to the point of being physically sick, she learns that it was not the best idea.
By the social consequences of the rumours spread across her town afterwards, she
suffers loneliness and learns that the boy who started her depression in the first
place was not worth the embarrassment, nor the experience itself. Munro depicts a
teenage girl growing up; learning about herself and coming to terms with who she
is. The girl learns that alcohol (and pills) are not the solution to a broken heart, and
that her time was wasted being miserable over a boy who dumped her.
Greasy Lake depicts the story of a young man, also without a name, who tried to
build a reputation for himself as a dangerous character (p. 33), much like many
other young men of the era. He did many things he considered bad , such as
wearing torn up leather jackets and sniffing glue. It was popular for the people of
his crowd to take their parents cars to Greasy Lake, a local hangout for young adults
which was in all reality just a dumpy murky pond. One night, the boy and his two

Sea Turtle Poe
Sea Turtles and Poe
Sea turtles need to posses the traits of a solitary animal because they are left by
their family at birth. A good name for a sea turtle would be Edgar Allan Poe because
Poe lost many family members and acquaintances throughout his life. Also, Poe lived
in solitude for the majority of his life which made him acquire the loner trait. A
mother sea turtle lays her eggs and then goes off to sea, leaving her babies to fend
for themselves. When the baby sea turtles hatch from their eggs, they begin their
journey towards the sea. Many babies are picked off by seagulls and other larger
animals (Means n. pag). As a young boy, Edgar Allan Poe was unintentionally left by
his mother when she died of tuberculosis. This makes the sea ... Show more content

If the sea turtles do make it to sea, they spend most of their life alone until they find
their partner (Means n. pag). Poe did not find much acceptance throughout his life
and did not have many acquaintances. Sea turtles are very vulnerable animals. Many
sea turtles are hunted by humans and other large predators for meat, eggs, skin,
and shells. In addition, sea turtles are becoming increasingly vulnerable due to
habitat destruction. Many types of pollutants and human interactions are
destroying the seas, which are the homes of sea turtles ( Sea n.pag). Edgar Allan
Poe was a very vulnerable person because he dealt many issues in his life. Edgar
Allan Poe s issues ranged from alcoholism to depression, as well as drug addiction.
These circumstances make both Poe and sea turtles extremely vulnerable
individuals. In addition, both sea turtles and Edgar Allan Poe are similar because
they both migrate throughout their lives. Migration in sea turtles is an
extraordinarily big deal; some sea turtles have been known to travel as far as
50,000 miles (Expert n. pag) Poe, although he did not make a huge migration, did
move from place to place throughout his life. He started out in Boston, then he
attended a boys school in England at age 6, and went to New York City in 1831, just
to name a few (Giordano n.pag). The movements throughout sea turtles and Poe s
lives show one of many other similarities between the
The Weaknesses Of The Articles Of Confederation
Weakness of articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the Untied States of
America as well as the name for the first government practicing the article. Even
though the Articles of Confederation centralized the legislative, executive and
judicial powers, it still distributed too much power to the individual states instead of
the federal government, leading to a loose and ineffective union. It came into force
for only nine years and was replaced by the Constitution written by James Madison
after the Philadelphia Convention in 1789. This essay will focus on the three most
substantial downsides of the Articles of Confederation no power to collect taxes, no
national court system, and low possibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dr. Ron Crandall s Philosophy Of Discipleship,
Leadership,...
Dr. Ron Crandall holds a doctoral degree in Pastoral Theology from Fuller
Theological Seminary. He retired in 2008 from Ashbury Theological Seminary in
Kentucky, where he was a professor of evangelism and practical theology. He has
served as an Elder in the United Methodist Church and is now the Executive Director
of ABIDE. ABIDE the program that he helped come up with to revitalize churches.
Crandall has researched and written in the areas of evangelism, leadership, and church
growth. He is best known for WITNESS: Learning to Share Your Christian Faith, and
Turnaround And Beyond: A Hopeful Future for Small Membership Churches.
Statement of Purpose Crandall has researched and collected data from various
churches that have experienced revitalization and renewal. He believes that the best
way to learn how to turnaround a small church is to learn from those who have been
part of such an experience. Turnaround And Beyond is intended to provide practical
principles insights of renewal from those who have experienced it.
Book Summary Turnaround And Beyond consist of eight chapters that are intended
to provide the reader with practical insights and principles from men and women who
have led their congregations through renewal. Crandall stresses the importance of
leadership right from the start. It is implied that a successful renewal is dependent on
how well a congregation is led throughout the process. He analyzes principles from
the business world, the Bible, and Church
Representations Of Women And Women
Representations of what is believed to be female characters holding weapons have
been previously observed on the fragments of the Oseberg tapestry. The textile
fragments show human esque figures that appear to be either standing in front of
spears or holding them and who wear clothing that is closely representative of long
dresses which were worn by Viking Age women. Some apparently female figures
are also holding swords. The Oseberg tapestry is difficult to interpret, but it has
been suggested that its imagery may represent a procession of some sort, perhaps
one that occurred as part of a funeral. Jesch has also speculated whether the female
figures on the tapestry might be valkyrjur choosing the slain for the honour of
Valhall . Jesch notes the variety of places that female Scandinavian graves can be
found, from Iceland to Russia, yet she is hesitant about presenting this as evidence
of female participation in Viking raids. She says, In spite of the archaeological
evidence that women from Scandinavia accompanied the men who went trading and
adventuring in the east, we are never told this in the written sources. However, what
written sources do contain is a picture of how medieval writers viewed the Viking
Age through a gendered bias. Jesch analyzes the History of the Danes, written by
Saxo Grammaticus in the 12th century, and how he treats warrior women in the
stories such as Lathgertha and Alvid. There is little doubt that Saxo uses the idea of
women as
Health Behaviors Are The Beliefs And Actions Regarding
Health behaviors are the beliefs and actions regarding your personal well being.
These behaviors often stem from adolescence. Observing your mother s sedentary
behavior or watching your father eat a family size bag of chips in one sitting easily
becomes second nature as you grow older. Luckily, it is easy to examine and alter
negative behaviors with today s technology. There are many documentaries, books,

In my early late teens to early twenties I started to limit my intake of soda after
learning about the damage it would potentially cause inside my body. I first realize
I needed to drink more water after a visit to my local salon to get my eyebrows
waxed. While I thought nothing of it, the esthetician questioned my water intake.
After stating I drank very little, she said she knew by my skin. As a woman, this
thought blew up in my head. If she could notice my limited water intake by looking
at my skin I wondered what my insides looked like. Naturally, I raced home to chug
enough water to fill a bathtub. After a few days, this practice ceased and I continued
to not drink nearly enough water for my body.
Water may not provide energy, but it is essential to our survival. The benefits

The Gut Microbiome Of Giant Pandas
The giant pandas spend around 14 hours a day eating bamboo which usually doesn
t digest very well. Some of their unique features includes powerful jaw and a
enlarge wrist bone that functions as an opposable thumb to help them eat bamboos.
But when a group of Chinese researchers tested the gut microbiome of giant pandas
by sequencing ribosomal RNA in their feces and comparing it to other mammals like
bears and lions. They are surprised of the results, that showed pandas are lacking the
plant digesting bacteria like Ruminococcaceae and Bacteroides which help properly
digest plants. Instead they carry a bacteria like Streptococcus and Escherichia
/Shigella that can be found mostly in carnivores. This would mean that giant pandas

Abortion (Marry Anne Warren “on the Moral and Legal

Abortion is the process by which an embryo or fetus is removed from the uterus,
resulting in the termination of a pregnancy. Natural or non induced abortions are
commonly known as miscarriages. Abortion has had a long and passionate history. It
has been induced through various methods ranging from, herbal medicines, and the
use of sharpened tools, physical trauma, and other traditional methods. The different
legal and cultural views on abortiondiffer around the world, and in many regions of
the world public debate over the ethicsand legal ramifications of abortion are intense.
The topic of abortion has brought about a series of debates, controversy, and
activism. People often choose a position when it comes to abortion based off of...

In Mill s Utilitarianism, he argues that the principle of utility is the foundation of all
morality. In other words, the greatest happiness principle says to choose the
decision or action that in return creates the greatest amount of happiness for all
that that are involved. He says that every other principle we follow are principles
that we take into our lives based on the fact that they will hopefully help us to
better or quantify our happiness. Abortion satisfies John Stuart Mill s description of
Utilitarianism. Women get abortions for a variety of different reasons. Different
reasons for getting an abortion range from health concerns and rape, to simply not
being ready to take on the responsibility of having, providing, and taking care of
another life. Whatever the reason may be, abortion is not wrong. According to
Utilitarianism, one should do what will make them and everyone around them the
happiest. Now, one could argue that having an abortion may make the other people
around the women unhappy. The simple reply to this is that a women s decision to
have an abortion has nothing to do with other people. Other people will not be going
through the pregnancy and will not have to take care of another human life. Just
because one doesn t agree with a women s decision to have an abortion does not
mean that the decision to have an abortion will make other peoples lives unhappy.
What Is The Purpose Of The Alchemist By Paulo Coelho
Paulo Coelho does not use any actual places or times in his book, The Alchemist
because it takes away from the moral and purpose of the story and uses typical
situations to make it hard to pinpoint the time period. A reader can find men
walking hand in hand (Coelho 36) in the book as well. He adds that into the story
because it has happened since the beginning of time so there is even more mystery
to the time period of the series of events. The story that Melchizedek tells the boy
is about what the wisest of wise men told a boy who came to see him. The wisest
of wise men told the boy to take a spoon full of oil and to let any of the oil out of
the spoon while he went throughout the man s castle. The boy came back and the
wise man asked him

  • 1. Grandmother Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Grandmother" can be both a daunting and emotional task. On one hand, the personal connection to the topic may flood your mind with memories, anecdotes, and a myriad of emotions. On the other hand, the challenge lies in translating these intricate sentiments into a coherent and engaging narrative that resonates with the reader. Your grandmother, a figure of immense importance and influence in your life, deserves an essay that not only captures the essence of her character but also does justice to the profound impact she has had. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between personal anecdotes and universal themes that allow readers to connect with the narrative on a deeper level. Navigating through the vast sea of memories and selecting the most poignant ones can be a formidable task. As you delve into the intricate details of your relationship with your grandmother, you may find yourself grappling with the challenge of choosing which aspects to highlight and which to omit. The fear of leaving out a crucial detail or not doing justice to the complexity of your feelings can add another layer of difficulty to the writing process. Moreover, the struggle to convey the uniqueness of your grandmother's character while avoiding clichГ©s and stereotypes can be a tightrope walk. • 2. Dragonfly Research Paper Now that we have covered what exactly an arthropod is and why they (specifically the uniramians class) are so successful, we can focus on one specific organism and look deeper into how they evolved to be so successful in the environment they are in today. The organism that we are going to be focusing on is the dragonfly. The dragonfly has been around for 300 million years and has manage to stay alive and thrive in its environments. Back then an ancestor of dragonflies roamed the planet, its name was Meganeura. Meganeura is a genus of extinct insects from approximately 300 million years ago, they are related to modern day dragonflies. In this group one member known as M. permiana was first described be researchers in Kansas in 1937 as having a wingspan of over 2 feet or 0.6 meters long. It is still considered one of the largest insects ever to be alive on this planet. To better understand why prehistoric dragonflies were bigger than modern ones we must go back in time to take a look at what potentially happened and how the dragonfly evolved into what it is today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wingless insects first appeared approximately 380 million years ago. The evolution of insects happened in four stages but for the dragonfly it appears in the second stage so we will only be looking into the first and second stages. The first stage is called the Apterygote stage, this term broken down basically means without wings. During this stage the simplest forms of insects were developed. They had no wings, or developed leg/ body parts. They also did not go through metamorphosis, instead they went through something known as ametabolous development. Ametabolous development basically means that the immature closely resembles the adult except for the presence of
  • 3. Essay On Pcr And Gel Electrophoresis DNA is commonly used in the modern legal system to release the innocent or imprison the guilty. There are two different ways to create DNA evidence through science technology, PCR and gel electrophoresis. Polymerase Chain Reaction, PCR, is used to create thousands to millions of copies of DNA, out of a small piece of DNA , this piece is used to make a DNA profile. Doing this makes it easier to test the DNA. PCR is used to find if a gene has pathogens. They are an infectious agent that creates illness or disease and it s commonly a virus, parasite or bacteria. (1) Gel electrophoresis is the technique used to separate molecules from DNA, RNA or proteins, based on the size or electric charge. It can be used in DNA fingerprinting, the findings and purification of nucleic acids and proteins. Gel electrophoresis can be used to find pathogens that can be found in blood, tissues or sources like food. (2) These are some of the methods that are used in court and police cases to discover DNA. The process of PCR has 3 steps that repeat in cycles shown in image 1. The first one is the separation of the two strands of the DNA molecule. This happens by the initial material being heated to 95 В°C. Every DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gene probes glow under UV light and have a fluorescent chemical attached to a short section of single stranded DNA. The chemical is then added to a DNA strand which contains a complimentary base sequence to a gene responsible for coding for a particular disease, such as cystic fibrosis. If the gene that is being looked for is present, then the gene probe will fix to it as it has the same complimentary base sequence. Once the gel is under UV light it will glow where the gene is present showing that the specific sequence is in the DNA tested. (5) Gel electrophoresis can be used to create a DNA profile for forensic purposes, paternity testing, evolutionary associations amid organisms and to look for genes associated with a
  • 4. Objectivity And Standpoint Epistemology Throughout the history of epistemology, we are baffled by the haunting spectre of objectifying our knowledge claims to attain certitude in our knowledge systems. There are different systems in accordance with our different times and we are always in the drive to dispute those who have come before us. However, the main question is what does it mean to be objective? Philosophers have always anchored the perspective of objectivity along the lines of truth the allegiance of our claims to the reality of the world. Others have anchored it on the opposite of subjectivity which is the knowledge away from personal biases and conditionings. Standpoint epistemology brings forth its attempt to break or permeate this barrier between our objectivity and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I, for one, believe that my discipline is in itself socialized in that our primary method is in ethnography and interview method. Our data is primarily gathered through immersion to societies and key individuals. However, the thing that I think we lack is the analysis of the data and the texts that these societies have. I believe the discourse analysis can bring us closer to understanding the people through the ways their language function in structuring their thoughts and actions and the ways they interact with people lying outside the contexts of their own
  • 5. The Affects of Methamphetamines Sometimes people forget that methamphetamine hurts not only individuals, but families, neighborhoods and entire communities as well. You might not be using methamphetamine or know anyone who is but that doesn t mean it s not having an effect on you. A methamphetamine lab can operate unnoticed in a neighborhood for years, causing serious health hazards to everyone around. The problems with meth are widespread. Children and the general public may be affected by the fumes from meth labs operating in or near their homes. The prison system is overwhelmed by the needs of incarcerated meth users. Hospital emergency departments (ED) report that meth is a significant drug problem. The cost of meth labs to society is large. A study done by the University of Arkansas found the cost to prevent abuse in one county to be around $20 million. Although many measures have been placed, abuse has been steadily increasing. In 2003, there was a 68% increase in workers who tested positive. Surprisingly, over 70% of users are actively employed. In particular, the lab problem is growing significantly in the Midwest and Mid Atlantic areas since they migrated from California in the early 80s. The popular meth production method known as the shake and bake liter bottle method results in serious burns. To prevent seizures by officers, meth labs are frequently guarded by attack dogs. Many labs are found in secluded areas and hikers and campers have been shot after accidentally coming across them.
  • 6. Io and Callisto Raunak Singh Student Number: 7817259 Dr. Efharis Kostala February 14, 2016 Judgment Of Io and Callisto CLA2323 ASSIGNMENT !1 Judgment of Io and Callisto The uncompassionate nature of the mighty Olympian Gods leads to the hardships of two maidens; Io and Callisto as described in Ovid s Metamorphosis. The struggles of both maidens; one a mortal and the other a divine nymph are fairly similar but have subtle differences. Bothwere victims of a sexual violence committed by Jupiter; were punished by his jealous wife Juno; were changed into animals by the Gods. The terrible treatment by the Gods and the uncompassionate attitude of the divine towards them is a theme shared in the two stories. Helpless, Io and Callisto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the two myths it is clear that the Gods have no regards for these two maiden s lives and morals. They have an uncompassionate attitude towards Io and Callisto. As leader of the Gods and having no one to hold him accountable for his actions, Jupiter rapes both maidens with no regard to what the consequences his actions will have on Io and Callisto. Jupiter, seeing her there weary and unprotected, said Here, surely, my wife will not see my cunning, or if she does find out it is, oh it is, worth a quarrel!? (prior to the rape of Callisto). However, Jupiter is not the only one who displays that same attitude toward the maidens. Juno s jealousy and frustration in her inability to control her husband s infidelities leads her to alter Io and Callisto s fates by punishing them for her husband s actions. She is vengeful with no regard to those she punishes. The Gods, Jupiter and more specifically Juno display a cruel mind set toward these women. When Jupiter transforms Io into a heifer, she is still able to remember her former life as a human: she licked her father s hand and kissed his palm, could not hold back her tears, and if only words could have come she would have begged for help, telling
  • 7. A Day in the Life of a Dj Have you ever wondered as you were driving down the road listening to the radio, How do they do that? I certainly have, and so for my junior job shadow experience I chose to shadow Mike Shannon from 99.7 WDJX, a very popular radio personality in Louisville, Kentucky. I chose to shadow him because I was interested in how DJs do their job and how a radio station is run. I thought that the job would be fun, exciting, and I thought it would be interesting. Going in to the Radio station I already knew that it was probably a high stress job and that on occasion it was very exciting. Some of the questions I had going into the situation were, what kind of history is behind the radio and radio personalities and what kind of education do you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Self employed DJs usually pay for everything themselves. Some DJs become well known among the community and are asked to make public appearances around the community. Most DJs that are well know are the charismatic ones who are wild and crazy on air. Which leads me to my next question I had what kind of personality do you need to be a radio personality and what is the environment like? DJs are always trying to please the people. If people don t listen to you the ratings go down. When I asked Mike what kind of personality is needed he responded by saying, The person needs to be positive and outgoing. Also you need to be very patient with people who call in because not everyone is going to be nice and happy when they call in. So you need to be able to hold back rude comments you might want to say to them. (Mike) DJs must be able to multitask and between watching the clock, choosing music, answering the phones, reading reports, entertaining guests and the audience. Again everything is about timing. DJs are required to plan ahead and be able to keep up with everything that is going on. They must be able to play the next song or commercial on time. It can be difficult to keep up but once you do it for awhile it gets easier. Working at a radio station can be fun but stressful at the same time. Dust and temperature control are very important parts of keeping the equipment running and in good condition. DJs may not always have jobs either, especially
  • 8. How Did Chaucer Influence His Age There is an age called the age of Chaucer. At that time, there was a social and intellectual movement, and then there was the terrible epidemic called the Black Death which brought poverty, unrest and revolt among the peasants, and the growing spirit of inquiry, which would cause people to be critical of the ways of the church. In those era, there was a very famous poet. His name is Geoffrey Chaucer with his masterpiece entitled The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer was a great writer in a well developed period and had close connections with the rulers of his era, so it was not surprising that the age was given the same name as his name. Based on that, in this essay will discuss about his life, his work, until his death. Geoffrey Chaucer is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is considered the first writer to show the power of the English language to write literature and not to use French or Latin. Canterbury Tales (1378 1400) is a framed story about a pilgrimage to Thomas ГЎ Becket temple in Canterbury, Kent. Thirty pilgrims gathered at the Tabard Inn, Southwark. They agreed to hold their wandering contest, and Harry Bailly, the innkeeper, acted as the host of the contest. Most of the pilgrims were introduced with a short sketch called General Prologue. In total there are 24 stories interspersed with short scenes containing the conversation, and usually between the host and the pilgrim. Chaucer did not complete this story fully, because only 24 pilgrims told of his wandering. The 24 stories are The Knight s Tale, The Miller s Tale, The Reeve s Tale, The Cook s Tale, The Man of Law s Tale, The Wife of Bath s Tale, The Friar Tale s, The Summoner s Tale, The Clerk s Tale, The Merchant s Tale, The Squire s Tale, The Franklin s Tale, The Canon s Yeoman s Tale, The Physiscian s Tale, The Paleon s Tale, The Shipman s Tale, The Priestess s Tale, The Tale of Sir Thopas, The Tale of Melibeus (in prose), The Monk s Tale, The Manciple s Tale, and The Parson s Tale (in prose), and end with Chaucer s Retraction. • 9. Edgar Allan Poe s Short Story Effect Edgar Allen Poe asserted that a story should be constructed to achieve a single effect and every word, detail, character, and incident in a story should contribute to this effect. Poe will commonly establish the story s theme and its single effect within the first paragraph of his short stories. The main characters in his short stories are often bizarre, mad men, and the atmosphere of the story is very commonly dark and tenebrous. Poe evokes terror initially by trapping the reader in an ominous room along with the characters, building onto the terror by revealing the narrator s constant derailing of thought and lack of communication with Lady Rowena. Initially the narrator is so infatuated with Ligeia, however... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This hold Ligeia has over the narrator shines through as the narrator doesn t speak to Lady Rowena while she s almost dead, instead he saw not so Rowena but he became distinctly aware of a gentle foot fall upon the carpet, and near the couch . The narrator focuses on something he perceives as Ligeia, further contributing to feelings of terror, as one cannot be sure if this is a real sighting of Ligeia. If Ligeia was truly in the room with the narrator and Lady Rowena, then it would have to be a ghost or simply a hallucination from the opium. Terror is also instilled into the reader, as one must fear for Rowena. She is left unattended while just about on her death bed, and the only one within ten feet of her to take care of her is her opium addicted, hallucinating husband. The narrator is perceived as so dosed with drugs that he can t tell what s real or just a hallucination and doesn t seem the least bit interested in speaking to his wife. Poe reveals that out of nowhere the narrator sees four large drops of a brilliant and ruby colored liquid . This obscure liquid is foreign to the narrator, who fails to tell Rowena about it because he doesn t believe it was really put in her wine. The ambience at this moment is extremely intense because one cannot know if this poison is real or a figment of the narrator s drugged imagination. This theme of terror is very prominent in other Poe works as
  • 10. Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Every man has opinions, some which are stronger than others, but do these thoughts define the man? In Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee s play Inherit The Wind opinions do not define the people who advocate them. Each character in this play has viewpoints that influence their actions. The bravery, honesty and determination required to express an opinion defines a person more than the opinion, allowing one to respect a man who advocates unpopular opinions. When a man stands up for his beliefs despite their unpopularity, he exemplifies great bravery. While Bertram Cates may not have been the most brave man when the trial began, he later addresses the courtroom by saying, I feel I am... I have been convicted of violating an unjust law. I will continue in the future, as I have in the past, to oppose this law in any way I can, (115). Bert bravely states his point of view in his speech and makes it clear that he stands behind Darwinism. While picking the jury members, Drummond [objects] to all [the] Colonel talk, (42) because he believes it interferes with a fair trial. In addition to annoying Brady, Drummond objects to the title because he is brave enough to stand up to what he thinks is unjust. On a more general note, Drummond had the braveryto go to Hillsboro as the defense attorney for Bert even though winning the case was nearly impossible and there was no pay. Although their opinions were not popular in the play, Bert and Drummond show great bravery by standing up for

Month 3: Splash Area Construction, so far, has gone as planned, until a three straight days of rain occurred. This pushed back the start of the splash area (see appendix diagram Splash Area) by a week. This part of the process did not include the community involvement and was completed by the hired construction crew plus a structural engineer. The elements of the splash park include galvanized steel parts to make the different structures that water will shoot, spray, and pour down. Also, during the laying of the foundation process, holes were made in order to allow for water to shoot up from the ground, allow for the placement of made structures, and to drain the water out. The different colors chosen were to help bring about good vibes and fun times. Once every structure was composed, it was set and mounted in its respective place. The process took four week exactly and passed the structural engineer s approval. Month 4: Basketball Court Area And Clean Up The construction of the splash area went over by a week due to rain. This left three weeks left until Memorial Splash Park was completed. The last thing was finishing the full court basketball area (see appendix diagram

Gender Roles In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ« tells the story of the title character as she grows from a child to a young woman who becomes a governess and falls in love with her employer, Edward Rochester, whom she works as a governess for. Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar present their analysis of the novel in their work titled Madwoman in the Attic. One reputable argument presented states that BrontГ« depicts Jane and Rochester as spiritual equals through their interactions, but shows that there is an underlying inequality through the existence of Rochester s secrets. He himself senses this trickery as a source of power, and therefore, in Jane s case at least, an evasion of that equality in which he claims to believe (Gibert and Gubar 354). Rochester s previous experience with women and his hidden knowledge of sex in general does inhibit the two characters from being equal especially after the two are engaged, as Jane is practically clueless in the area. The biggest secret of the novel, the fact that Rochester has hidden his wife, Bertha Mason, locked in the attic for ten years, is actually the one factor of the story that suggests the master, Rochester, is inferior to the servant, Jane. It is revealed that Rochester married Bertha for status, money and sex, which goes against everything Jane stands for (Gilbert and Gubar 356). Rochester also tells Jane about his relationship with his daughter Adele s mother, Celine, whom he was never married to. He does tell Jane that he is extremely shameful of his past actions, causing her to eventually forgive him for his wrongdoings despite feeling completely betrayed upon the discovery of the

I had a lot of questions about it because of course it was all new to me with it being my first time going to an amusement park. I had asked about the big rides they have of course, the really popular water park they have at Six Flags, and of course I had to ask about the good amusement parkfood. As soon as I got there, my heart instantly dropped. I was at the park, and it was me and my family taking a trip to the best amusement park in missouri. We took off from the house, in Fulton, Missouri. It was about an hour and a half drive to get to Six Flags in St. Louis. We finally got there, the lines were super long, and the park was packed already at about eleven in the morning. Me and my little sister were both extremely excited to get past the long line, since it was both of our first time being there. We walk through the gate, and my heart instantly dropped on spot. The rides were super big. With loops and corkscrews, and that made me go from excited to scared quick.I was only about ten years old; therefore, I was not able to ride that many rides, and I was kind of relieved to hear that from my family. Since I was too young and too short to ride any rides, me and my sister went to the water park. The rides were still really big and scary, but also very fun at the same time, there was quite a few cool water slides that I

I disagree with Kenneth Waltz s position that nuclear proliferation makes the world a safer place, and how best to measure the spread of nuclear weapons, particularly in regimes that are developing, unstable, or third world. 1 While some scholars see nuclear weapons as a threat to stability and peace due to their mass destruction capability and the potential for horrific fallout triggered by ethnic and geopolitical instability, others see those weapons as holding the power to maintain an appropriate balance of power between opposing regimes at times of tension and during periods of low level conflict. This debate is reflected in international relations. Waltz argues that nuclear weapons keep the world secure, as states would not take the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for second strike deterrence, Waltz states that there are two necessities: survival of a first attack and the ability to inflict sufficient damage. Without absolute certainty of destruction of the opposition s arsenal, a country would be less likely to attack. Because of uncertainty about the size of another country s arsenal size, nations would not take the risk of retaliation; Even the largest states recoil from taking adventurous steps if the price of failure is the possible loss of a city or two 1. The problem I see with this position is that nations may sometimes benefit from spotting signatures that are carelessly sent to enemy intelligence agencies which may inadvertently reveal secret information about the size and location of otherwise hidden military forces. For example, Pakistani road construction crews inadvertently signaled the location of secret M 11 missiles by placing wide radius roads at Sargodha Missile Base . The failure of the Soviet military to keep its 1962 missile deployment in Cuba secret was similarly caused by construction crew routines that produced signatures which highlighted the location of the missiles. The Star of David pattern of air defense missile battery placements and slash marks on missile pads gave away the Cuban secret to the Americans. Regarding the accidental use of nuclear weapons, Waltz dismisses this

The climate of Ancient Rome was humid and cool and ranged from 55 to 95 Fahrenheit year round. The Alps to the far north of Rome protected them from threats coming from North Europe, while not isolating them on the peninsula. Being on the Italian peninsula was useful for trading and sailing to other areas in the Mediterranean to conquer land. Rome did not trade as much as some other civilizations around the Mediterranean such as the Egyptians. Most people in Ancient Romewere farmers and sold most of what they grew to the markets. Rich landowners had lots of land and either rented it to poorer farmers, or had their many slaves farm it for them. Some wealthier shopkeepers sailed around the Mediterranean trading for papyrus and similar items that ordinary people could afford; however, some traders went further into the Indian Ocean, or West Asia, some traders even imported silk all the way from China, which only the richest could afford. The richest and most powerful people in Ancient Rome were the patricians. The patricians were the wealthiest and were usually part of the Senate, or other governmental figures. The highest class were the patricians, followed by the plebeians, who were ordinary citizens

Mill might be tempted to argue that there are aspects of the general will that citizens should be fearful of. One of the forces that Mill identifies as the most stifling towards liberty is the force of the popular opinion. Clearly, some sort of protection against tyranny of the magistrate is necessary but not enough as there needs protection also against the tyranny of the prevailing opinion feeling; against the tendency of society to impose, by other means than civil penalties, its own ideas and practices (Mill 9). Mill is noticeably placing more emphasis on the individual aspects of freedom as opposed to Rousseau who is more in support of a freedom that only can only be attained through the forfeiting of some these individual liberties in order to become a part of the collective and achieve his version of civil freedom, the most important of all liberties. Diversity of opinions is a highly valued societal good for Mill and he believes this to be an important path to revealing the truths and securing liberty. In ensuring people will enjoy the liberty they deserve, Mill leaves a lot more room for government intervention than Rousseau does in his version of the best society. This can be mainly attributed to the fact that Rousseau seems to have more faith in people and sees them as inherently good as their only source of evil was the corrupting forces of the

At first, this essay argue the reason why we need to measure the level of development, it is because producing measurements about an activity gives you a handle on it, a way to improve it. This paper goes on to critically examine the varied ways to measure development. A developed country is one with a high Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, as defined by the World Bank. However, it can also present a negative effect as it can decrease productivity alongside affect economic growth. Yet, if a superior amount of piracy can fail to provide for developers, then investments will slow down and economy growth will reduce. On the other hand, piracy can have a good impact in being able to augment growth in many cases that may result in additional investments stimulating the economy; as it can tend to become more predictable. In the figure below, this shows a relation between piracy and economy growth: The figure above shows that the positive constant of piracy, and growth is effective in productivity. Influenza Virus Essay Industrialization and urbanization make people live and work in indoors, and some studies found that people in industrialized countries spend around 90% of their lifetime in the inside of the building [1, 2]. Therefore, it is important to recognize that, indoor air quality is an important determinant of public health [3]. In indoor air, the microbial fraction of aerosols present is of fundamental environmental and public health importance. This fraction is commonly termed bioaerosols and is a mixture of viable and nonviable microorganisms. The definition of bioaerosol includes airborne fungi, bacteria and viruses. Influenza viruses are one of bioaerosol in indoor environment and are among the most common causes of human respiratory infections. Influenza viruses are among the most significant because they cause high morbidity and mortality [4]. • 35. The Effect Of Spending Time On Nature And Its Stress... Counselors dedicate their lives to helping people emotionally in need, and eventually this dedication begins to produce distress which, if not dealt with can lead into more serious issues. One of the more serious issues that counselors are at higher risk to experience as job related stress increases is burnout. In order for counselors to maintain healthy levels of compassion while maintaining their ability to help their clients, implementing a self care plan. This self care plan enables counselors to effectively cope with frequent job related stress. If the self care plan does not effectively cope with this stress, then burnout is likely to be experienced. However, there are successful strategies to prevent burnout and enables the counselor to help hurting people for the long duration. One such plausible self care plan that effectively copes with job related stress includes frequent exposures to nature and the outdoors. In this paper, I examine the relationship between spending time in nature and its stress reducing capabilities. Because burnout is a stress induced syndrome, attempts to decrease stress levels with nature exposures, should also prevent burnout. Unfortunately, most counselors who experience burnout seldom engage in healthy coping strategies nor do they engage in them frequently enough. It is important for counselors to maintain healthy coping strategies in order to help their clients to the best of their abilities for the long duration. By

The message this phrase bears, resonates throughout the entire poem: from its title, The Waste Land, to its final mantra Shantih shantih shantih . All words, phrases and sentences (or just simply images) which make up this poem seem to, in Levi Strauss words, be a valeur symbolique zero [and the signifier] can take on any value required , meaning that the images Eliot uses do not have one fixed signification and consequently conjure up thought provoking ideas that need to be studied (qtd. in... This epigraph may serve as a way to connect with a certain group of scholars, as not many people speak the language it is written in, however, when it is read in its original context it may mean that Eliot does not foresee a very bright future, which would be in tune with the rest of the poem, furthermore this reference strongly hints at the use of tarot cards and the notion of randomness in the rest of the poem. The fact that this epigraph is in a foreign language greatly contributes to the theme of the poem and is therefore discussed in the next section of this paper. Followed by the epigraph is a quotation from the Anglican burial service, which serves as the subtitle of the first part of the poem: 1. The Burial of the Dead . This leads us to additional intertextuality, ELIOT April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain. This time Eliot does not quote another piece of text, however, he does consciously foregrounds that he uses the opening to Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales (Bennett and Royle 5). This profusion of intertextuality, even before The Waste Land is well and truly on

By drinking too much and getting drunk to the point of being physically sick, she learns that it was not the best idea. By the social consequences of the rumours spread across her town afterwards, she suffers loneliness and learns that the boy who started her depression in the first place was not worth the embarrassment, nor the experience itself. The textile fragments show human esque figures that appear to be either standing in front of spears or holding them and who wear clothing that is closely representative of long dresses which were worn by Viking Age women. Some apparently female figures are also holding swords. The Oseberg tapestry is difficult to interpret, but it has been suggested that its imagery may represent a procession of some sort, perhaps one that occurred as part of a funeral. Jesch has also speculated whether the female figures on the tapestry might be valkyrjur choosing the slain for the honour of Valhall . Jesch notes the variety of places that female Scandinavian graves can be found, from Iceland to Russia, yet she is hesitant about presenting this as evidence of female participation in Viking raids. She says, In spite of the archaeological evidence that women from Scandinavia accompanied the men who went trading and adventuring in the east, we are never told this in the written sources. He says that every other principle we follow are principles that we take into our lives based on the fact that they will hopefully help us to better or quantify our happiness. Abortion satisfies John Stuart Mill s description of Utilitarianism. Women get abortions for a variety of different reasons. Different reasons for getting an abortion range from health concerns and rape, to simply not being ready to take on the responsibility of having, providing, and taking care of another life. Whatever the reason may be, abortion is not wrong. According to Utilitarianism, one should do what will make them and everyone around them the happiest. Now, one could argue that having an abortion may make the other people around the women unhappy. The simple reply to this is that a women s decision to have an abortion has nothing to do with other people. Other people will not be going through the pregnancy and will not have to take care of another human life. Just because one doesn t agree with a women s decision to have an abortion does not mean that the decision to have an abortion will make other peoples lives unhappy.
