We Often Fall In Love With People And Think Long And Hard
We often fall in love with people and think long and hard about what it is that we really love
about them. Is it their smile? Personality? Laugh, maybe? The eyes? We can all agree that we all
have the same problem. That we can t exactly explain why we love the person. Well in this case,
sonnet XVII, Pablo Neruda loves his beloved from the inside, not the outside features. Pablo
Neruda was born in Chile and his sonnets are originally written in Spanish. He published the 100
LoveSonnets in 1959. He had an affair with his second wife with Matilde Urrutia. Later, they got
married in 1966, but they have been together since 1946. Apparently, Urrutia is the inspiration for
100 love Sonnets. So let s assume that the sonnets are about... Show more content on

Looking at the original Spanish version, we see the rhyme scheme. The octave lines end with the
words topacio, fuego, oscuras, alma, lleva, flores, cuerpo, and tierra. The rhyme scheme is aabc
cbac. The sestet lines end with the words dГіnde, orgullo, manera, eres, mГa, and sueГ±o. These
words give the sestet a rhyme scheme of bac bca. With this writing style, in this case, free verse,
Neruda is able to convey the message effectively. Through his words and style of writing, we can
get an idea of what kind of guy he is. In the first stanza, he describes what love is not. Neruda
says I don t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz, or arrow of carnations that propagate fire.
Here he uses nature to describe what love is not. But again, later we see that he uses plants to
declare his love. Moreover, the rose of salt is a reference to a type of rose that grows by the
ocean. A carnation usually symbolizes purity of love and affection and a topaz is a mineral that
comes in many colors. The first two lines indicate that his love for his partner is not the same as
the love one has for materialistic things or flowers. The line I love you as one loves dark things,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul. Neruda suggest what his emotional placement of love
is. It is deep in his soul and heart. He describes his love to dark things, but what does he mean by
that? It makes me think that there is something

The True Meaning Of Love In Love With My Best Friend
Whenever I was a junior in high school, I fell completely in love with my best friend. I know
this sounds cliche, but this experience lead to many lessons. I did not realize another human
being could have such an impact on my life. Love is crazy because it is unexpected and smacks
you right in the face. I did not realize this person would be my every thing for the next two years.
I did not realize all the lessons I learned and growing I did. I not only learned the true meaning of
heartbreak, but the true meaning of loveand life. With this experience, I reached out to see how
different people cope, what I have learned, and how this shaped me into who I am. The craziest
thing about love is that it is abstract. You may love an object or person, but you can not grab
love. I am not going to go on about my relationship, but the after math. The intimate details do
not matter to me anymore. After every thing went down, I felt broken. I felt like nothing in my
life was going to be okay again. Isn t it unimaginable how something you can not even see makes
you feel this way? I shut out every thing around me and pushed people away. All because one
person decided to give up when I did not want to. Even after the horrible exchanges of words
were tossed back and forth, I still did not want to give up. I was hoping his love would be strong
enough to realize how much I cared. But it did not. It did not mean anything to that careless boy. I
d rather walk barefoot across broken glass. Weeks

Excellence in Customer Service Organisations Often Fail...
BSBCUS501C
Work Related Project
Question 1
Excellence in customer service is the objective of all organisations wishing to be successful.
However, there is often a gap between customer expectations and management perceptions of
customer expectations. Organisations often fail to get close to their customers and correctly read
their expectations.
Other reasons for customer service problems include: * not listening to or collecting information
from customers * poor, or no, focus on the actual design of processes to turn identified customer
needs into products and services * gaps between what the organisation intends to produce for its
customers and what its systems do actually produce * gaps between what the system is ... Show

Segmentation is usually done to understand the needs of customers more elaborately or distinctly.
When asking customers for their input or feedback, they need to feel as if their opinions matter,
they are more likely to continue supporting the organisation if they feel their feedback has been
taken seriously and into consideration. Listening to the customer and acting timely on their
feedback is important for the organisation, failing to understand a customer s needs can result in
widespread negative comments about the organisation and the loss of customers and potential
customers.
By not listening to customers and understanding what they need from a product or service will not
allow the organisation to maintain its effectiveness in the market place, producing poor quality
products or service and effecting overall profitability for the organisation.
Each organisation needs to develop and establish procedures, standards and guidelines for customer
service requirements and communicate these to all staff.
By establishing courses of action to accomplish specific goals, utilising information and data
obtained through feedback will assist in identifying and acting upon the customer s needs. These
may be established through strategic or action plans that identifies the customer s need, arranges
for, and obtains resources needed to accomplish the desired goals and objectives. By collecting
information and data, planning areas for improvement that will improve the final

The Federal Reserve Transparency Act
When discussing various issues affecting the federal government, transparency issues have to be
put on the front line because the Federal Reserve s should have one of the most transparent
systems. The Federal Reserve transparency act was formulated in order to ensure that there is
transparency in the federal reserves through making the federal government publicize most of the
financial institutions that it offers loans to and the organizations which use the open market
operations in order to purchase bonds. It s more likely to embarrass the central bank in the
exposure of the federal transactions and that can lead to political pressure in the congress. This
study is aimed towards exploring the issue of auditing the federal reserves or... Show more content

Most of the balance sheets concerning the federal government activities and the financial
statements have to be made clear to the public through auditing. This is because most of these
reports are not detailed in terms of the various transactions with the foreign governments in the US
and the central banks in the US. This forms a major concern in terms of auditing the federal
reserves. With the proper support of auditing the federal reserves, it can make the various reports to
be conclusive in terms of transactions carried out between the federal reserves and the other
governments. Most of the working balances dealing with the foreign currencies and offering
contracts are not related to the monetary policy operations in the FRBNY. In the financial
statements, most of these incomes are recognized as others. Most of the proponents in support of
auditing want to know the why, the who and the how much money was involved in such dealings.
Greater details would be able to signify issues of accountability and not indicating using one
number, others in the financial statements.
There is less public knowledge in issues dealing with FOMC meetings and that has been able to
affect the issues of transparency in the monetary issues. Through the meetings, the monetary
policies regarding the global issues are discussed and therefore the public is entitled to now the
progress of the various meetings. This can be done through

The White Bollywood
From Raja Harishchandra (1913) to The Good Road (2013), the cinema of India, an extremely
important part of our cultural identity celebrating its centenary this year. Has been working as an
ambassador of India to a global audience since the day of its inception. In India, it is often seen
that films made in Hindi targeted at a larger audience, commonly known as mainstream movies or
Bollywood films, employ a different grammar of filmmaking than that is used in so called
sensible or parallel cinema while representing or portraying different aspects and sections of
society, race, culture, gender and class. In this paper, I try to focus on the representations of

If Hollywood has techniques that permit its fictional world to appear internally coherent and
invisibly put together, Indian films are orchestrated by another sensibility of coherence and
reality (Jaikumar 25). This another sense of coherence and reality often plays a vital role in the
portrayal of characters belonging to different ethnic backgrounds in the mainstream Bollywood
flicks. The reason why non Indian characters from the subcontinent, i.e. the Pakistanis,
Bangladeshis, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Afghans or Sri Lankans are not being considered in this
discussion is that the socio cultural gap between India and her neighbouring countries are
relatively less and how they are portrayed in Bollywood films demands a new discussion
altogether due to extremely convoluted bilateral or multilateral political, social and historical
relationships between India and any of these countries. Unlike the Hollywood, where in the
1930s, white actors had to play Asian roles by putting on extra make up, Hindi films had white
actors playing white characters. Among the Hollywood films, we see Douglass Dumbrille
playing Mohammed Khan and Noble Johnson playing Ram Singh in the famous Gary Cooper
film The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (dir. Henry Hathaway/ 1935), C. Henry Gordon as Surat Khan,
J. Carroll Naish as Subedar Major Puran Singh and Scotty Beckett as Prema Singh in the Errol

Shame, By Tim O Brian
Throughout this quarter we have read many books and many genres, at first glance they don t seem
to have any intertwining themes or ideas. Yet when you dig deeper than face value you can see that
there is many underlying themes that the average reader might easily overlook. Shame is an overall
human element that is seen all throughout; The Things They Carried, the Fifth Child, and Pocatello.
Shameis the key to good literature, it is what drives the other emotions, and without shame
people would not be people. The Things They Carried, was riddled with the idea of shame. One
simple example is when Tim O Brian was drafted and he wanted to run away to Canada to be
safe from the U.S. military. This was an important internal battle for him, which he ultimately
decided to fight against and join the army, as law required. Shame was important in this piece of
literature to bring out the soldiers feelings and their true intentions. Shame also came out in the
burning of First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross letters from his sweetheart, Martha, after a man in his
company died. He felt shame. He hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his men, and as
a consequence Lavender was now dead. He burned the letters because he was ashamed that he let
the letters get to him and distract him from, what he decided was more important, the war. Ben
had to deal with a kinds of shame, he had his family ashamed of him and he was ashamed of
himself. His whole family was disgraced the way he look and

The Palace Of Knossos By King Minos
Part A: The Palace of Knossos is the most complex structure existing from the ancient Minoan
Civilization on the island of Crete. It was built in the Minoan political center of Knossos by King
Minos around 1900 BC. The palace is an extremely intricate building standing five stories with
large, beautiful paintings on its walls known as frescos; it even had indoor plumbing. It is apparent
that only the most important people in Minoan society lived in the palace because of its grandeur
and beauty. The Palace of Knossosis important to history because the palace gives us a window into
Minoan culture. We can deduce from the Palace of Knossos that the Minoan Civilizationwas both

Linear B writing emerged in Knossos after Linear A writing but before the fall of the Palace of
Knossos. We can then deduce that people writing in Linear B (Mycenaeans) conquered those
writing in Linear A (Minoans), or at the very least, Minoans allowed the Linear B writers into its
political center as a peaceful accommodation. Nonetheless, finding the Linear B tablets at the
Palace of Knossos is important because it lets us know that at some point Mycenaeans had lived
on the Island of Crete. Finally, discovering Linear B tablets allows us to see how the Greek
language evolved because the tablets show Greek language its very earliest form. Linear A is
the writing system of the Minoans that lived on Crete. Like its child system Linear B, Linear A
writing is a system where one symbol represents one syllable in language. The reason Linear A
writing was developed by the Minoans is because the Minoans wanted to keep record of what
was bartered. Essentially, the Minoans developed a writing system so they could keep receipts.
Sadly, the language that Linear A displayed is still unknown to us today. The Mycenaeans really
admired the culture of the Minoans. As a result, the Mycenaeans based their writing system off of
the Minoans Linear A writing. Without Linear A, we would not have been able to see the first
Greek writings in Linear B. Essentially, without Linear A the first Greek writings would not have
been recorded in Linear B. Homer spoke and wrote in

Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God
Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God
For thousands of years the idea of God have been questioned and proposed by philosophers,
scientists and scholars alike. Many have argued for and against its existence and it s still a subject
of heated debates in the present day. Since God is a notion about an entity that was never seen or
heard from by anyone, it has been a strenuous struggle to substantiate his existence. Yet, great
philosophers have always found a way to validate the idea of God through their own way of
reasoning. The philosophical discussions about God s existence began with pre modern
philosophers such as Plato, Saint Augustine, and it was further examined by modern philosophers
such as Descartes etc. In this essay I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However much they may lack form, and however great may be their propensity not to exist,
nonetheless some form remains in them so that they do exist in some way.. so this should be
enough of a proof that all good things come from God, since everything that exists whether that
which has understanding, life, and existence or that which has only life and existence, or that
which has existence alone is from God. (Williams, 1993, p.53) In other words all finite things
owe their existence to God and these things in turn must be good, since they are creatures of
God. To demonstrate the goodness of God and its creatures, Augustine stretches the idea of lack
of the good. Evil, he believes, is the privation of the good. Thus, evil is created by the absence of
the good and by the absence of God. The conclusion is all good and powerful God exists.
Another major philosopher Rene Descartes who attempted to prove God s existence wrote a book
titled Meditations, which was composed of six essays, each of which tried to answer different
philosophical questions about self existence, human nature, distinction between body and mind and
about existence of God, etc. The idea of God was so important to Descartes that he devoted an
entire essay to the discussion and substantiating of God s existence. In Meditations, similarly to
Augustine, Descartes begins his evaluation of God by first proving his own existence, because
how can he prove God exists if he

Similarities of the Human Spirit in Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Grey
The human spirit is one of the most beautiful forces in the world, but it is also one of the most
vulnerable. In the novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar
Wilde, this idea of the human spirit is portrayed clearly. Both novels have similar aspects about the
human spirit, but they also have their differences. Both novels have main characters who are
influenced greatly by someone that they admire, and they are destroyed by that influence. The
difference that these novels have is that in Frankenstein, the main character is influenced and
destroyed by something he creates himself, while in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example from the novel is when the monster starts to become familiar with the little
beauties and simplicities of life, but begins to realize that society rejects him because of his
revolting appearance. This is due to Victor s ignorance of the monster s feelings and knowledge,
because Victor never told the monster what he was, a hideous and revolting creature. Victor blames
himself for these innocent crimes committed by the monster that he created and silently goes crazy,
then dies from becoming very ill. Before his death, Victor asked his friend Walton to kill the
monster, because he didn t have the strength. His motivation, the monster, drove him to the brink of
insanity and eventually death.
In the novel The Picture of Dorian Grey, Dorian, the novel s main character, is influenced greatly
by his friend and mentor, Lord Henry, and kills himself because he listens to everything that Lord
Henry says and believes it. For example, Dorian explains to Lord Henry that he went out to the
country and became a changed man, a good man. He had killed Basil and admitted to Lord Henry
that he did so.Lord Henry mocks him and doesn t believe him. Lord Henry tells him that a human
cannot change no matter what.Dorian refuses to believe him but can t help the fact that Lord Henry
might be correct about it.But still, Dorian believes that he is a good man. Later on, Dorian looks at

Al Qaed Terrorist Groups Essay
Founded by Osama bin Laden around the late 1980 s, one of the largest, most terrifying, terrorist
groups known worldwide is the Islamist organization, Al Qaeda.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Jayshree Bajoria and Greg Bruno examine Al
Qaeda as an international terrorist network that seeks to free Muslim countries of profane
influence, and replace governments with fundamentalist Islamic regimes. Originating back to
around 1988, Al Qaeda grew out of a Service Office, run by Osama bin Ladenand Abdullah Azzam.
The Services Office would recruit international Muslims from more than fifty countries, training,
and financing them into foreign mujahedeen and holy warriors. Although Al Qaeda does not
operate at a single headquarters, the bases of all operations are constructed either within
Afghanistan, Pakistan or along the boarder (par. 2, 3, 4). Known as one of the most notorious
terrorist groups in the world, Al Qaeda is considered a terrorist group because of their ideologues
and goals, along with their extreme use of violence. Forming as an effort to support Muslims
against the Soviets in the Afghanistan war, developed a strong hatred towards non Islamic
governments. As a growing organization, Al Qaeda maintained officers in countries including
Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States. The FBI s Testimony on Al Qaeda presented by J.T

Oedipus The King Speech Analysis
Ladies and gentlemen, I am honored to have been invited to talk to you all tonight about OSU s
upcoming production of Oedipus Rex in my capacity as someone expert in
Greek history. Many of you will already be familiar with the outlines of the tragic story and I will
not rehash those plot details tonight. What I would like to highlight are some of the ways that
knowing the background of ancient Greek history helps us understand the play better. For instance,
we could start with the title, usually rendered Oedipus Rex Oedipus the King, Rex of course being
the Latin for king. Yet more accurately the title was Oedipus Tyrannus Oedipus the Tyrant
. Was
Oedipus a good and wise king, or an evil tyrant whose hold on power was seen as illicit? Tonight
I will argue that Oedipus was indeed a good and wise king, however, his power grasp was illicit
due to him not being a proper king, and just a crowd backed ruler. Another important issue
concerns the staging of the play. We are used to serious plays in which a few actors push the
drama along through their speeches and actions. Song and dance with a chorus are something we
might expect from a musical, a lighthearted comedy. We might be tempted to see the singing as a
vestige of a past time, without major function. It is also possible to argue the opposite, that the
music and vocal elements, even more than the speech, provided the main emotional drive for this
play. My hypothesis is that staging and songs during a tragedy was

Abstract
Surface roughness has become the most significant functional requirement and it is an index of the
product quality. In order to increase the efficiency of hard to machine alloys like titanium and nickel
alloys, an Electro Chemical Honing (ECH) process has been employed to achieve highest material
removal rate with the best surface qualities. This extended abstract describes the design and
fabrication of an indigenously developed tooling setup for ECH of external cylindrical surfaces of
Titanium alloys (TI 6AL 4V) and also highlights the key process parameters and their affect on
ECH process. The influence of the machining parameters on the surface finish has been investigated
and optimized the process parameters for improving the surface roughness is also evaluated.
Percentage improvements in surface roughness values Ra and other parameters like electrolyte
temperature, composition and concentration were studied while changing the processing time (PT).
And also the study of surface characteristics of micro and macro level and micro hardness too
examined.

The Secret Law Of Attraction
Almost all of us that nurture a passion for success will face days when it seems as though the
whole world is falling in around us. No matter how we try, Success always seems to remain just
outside of our grasp and difficulties appear impossible to overcome. However, if we ascribe to
the Law of Attraction, it becomes clear that any negativity will only emphasise our despair and
avert our attentions from our Passion for Success. Therefore it is clearly necessary that you start to
nurture a positive mindset to help overcome problems on days where life seems firmly stacked
against you.
The basic principles of the law of Attraction states that we become whatever we create through our
own thought. By allowing negative thoughts to cultivate in our minds, we will by default attract
more of the same into our future. Imagine the moment you open your credit card ... Show more

Qualities Of Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey s reputation as a diva Mariah Carey (b. 1970) is one of the most worldwide famous
and best selling female singers in pop music industry who has been on stage since the early

an extraordinarily talented person who with the power of her voice can convey the emotional
nuances of the music to her audience (Moohan, 2008, 163) and has extravagantly behavior and
claims. Among the essential factors which allowed Mariah Careyto gain her diva status there is a
complex of qualities: her significant voice, her songs authorship, image development, presentation
in video clips and on the media. First of all, it is important to point out that the singer possesses an
exceptionally beautiful voice, high soprano (Vincent, 2017), with the ability to sing in an
outstanding way as she can reach the higher notes than most of other singers. Her husky speaking
voice presents a profound contrast to her high singingvoice, that consequently creates, as recorded,

mother in her desire for building a career as a singer. Later, at the age of 23, Mariah Carey
married her Columbia Records boss Tommy Mottola, 20 years her senior, who had seen the young
singer s potential to become a top star. Their meeting marked Mariah s rise to fame as he turned

about a father who worked at a express train railroad drawbridge. He loved his son so much it was
his only son too. Then one day, he brought his son to work with him because his son loved trains

But, he then sees the express train coming. By then, the father has to make a decision. A, he

Narrative Essay On The Garbage City
Rise! Rise against those who oppress us. Rise and fight! These bodiless words reverberate through
my ears and carries on over the miles and miles that forms the junkyard. Out of instinct, everyone
ignores it, keeping their head down, as they sort through scrap metal and broken machinery.
Seconds later, the yelling starts from the control tower, followed by a short scream and lots of
gunfire. A few individuals around me stiffen, daring a glance at the tower.
I don t.
It was expected. Random killings always follow these unruly messages. If it defies the Angelic
Order, then it s shooting time. The guards instantly kill the nearest humans as if that s going to fix
the problem.
Cruel and unnecessary but it s the way of life.
I knew from experience the gunshots and screaming would follow. I was there in town square of
Garbage City when this same message played for the first time. It created quite a panic, for the
demons. For humans, it was as if someone flipped a switch in their brains and they went crazy,
rebelling.
At least ten demons died that day.
However once the carriers showed, blowing people up, most people got smart and stopped. I
managed to hide through this whole ordeal and by evening, I was cleaning up bloody bodies off
the streets. Over a hundred humans died that night, couple hundred injured. It was a complete mess.
And that was only the beginning of these strange messages. Every time it played, a few people
would rebel and twice as many people would die. It s

Chemical Reaction On Chemical Change
Analyzing chemical change
Abstract
Changes can be chemical or physical in nature. If a chemical change is taking place we will be
breaking bonds and forming new bonds and therefore creating a new substance. In a Physical
change we will have the same substance but simply in a new form. (Dickinson et al. 197). In
order to collect evidence to prove a chemical change is occurring we need a change in the
indicators. The more active a chemical is the more likely it will have a chemical reaction with
another chemical. (Dickinson et al. 180) The higher the element is on the Activity Series the more
reactive it is. (Dickinson et al. 192) A reactive element will replace an element that is underneath it
in the activity series. (Dickinson et al. 192) In this lab we will examine chemical reactions with the
activity series, indicators and the type of chemical reaction it is. The purpose of this lab is to
study chemical change and analyze why and how chemical reactions are created. In this lab we
are going to combine certain chemicals with each other to create a chemical change and we will
observe and record any changes. The chemical reactions listed in the Results had all gone through
chemical change and all the indicators have been recorded. Chemical change is very important and
we need to learn more about them because without chemical change we couldn t perform daily
tasks.

Critical Opinion On Critical Thinking
Critical thinking involves evaluating and analyzing data in order to form a reasonable judgment
about a particular topic or idea. It is not simply believing a subject matter because someone in
authority or expertise said it, but challenging those arguments in order to form a well thought out
conclusion. A critical thinker will normally not accept an answer without reasoning; they require
evidence to validate or prove their conclusion. The ability to reason logically is a fundamental and
disciplined skill that can be learned over time. The critical thinking process involves knowledge of
the subject matter. Being knowledgeable means that a person has an awareness of facts and
specific information on a topic. People gain familiarity of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Orlando, the party scene happens on Saturday nights. Girls and guys get dressed up to hit the
clubs in the downtown area. Everything seemed normal late that Saturday night and into the
early hours of Sunday morning at Pulse, a gay Nightclub. At approximately 2:02 a.m., people in
the club heard gun fire. That was the beginning of the deadliest mass shooting in US history. The
attack lasted for three hours. People were trapped in the club with the shooter, Omar Mateen,
until the police took him down. Many were wounded and several were killed. The massacre was
terrifying for myself, my family, and my community. The attack happened only fifteen minutes
away from my childhood home, and the house my father still lives in currently. This attack and
the lives that were lost is something I personally will never forget. I do not understand how
something of this nature could happen in our country. I wonder how a man this psychotic could
possess firearms that cause as much destruction as he did. After reading more about the shooter,
Omar, I discovered that he may have been gay or bisexual, but his father was so strict on him that
he felt he could never come out about his sexuality. There are theories about his sexuality. He
viewed this negatively and was ashamed of himself so he went after the LGBT community and the

In the 1900s, two large massacres occurred in different parts of the world leading the events to be

The Ten Year Cultural Revolution
The ten year Cultural Revolution, in essence, was a political power struggle inside of the CCP,
and as Mao died on September 9 1976, the Gang of Four was arrested soon on October 10. Since
Mao s successor Hua Guofeng was politically weak, Deng Xiaoping came back to power. Though
the new leaders tried to help China recover from the revolution and rebuild the economic systems,
the influences of the revolution did not vanish quickly. The Party had to deal with the mistakes that
Mao made during the revolution, make the resolution on the revolution, and formulated the new
road that the country should follow. Other than the political struggles that the Party faced, the
society also created troubles. The intellectuals, especially the sent down youths who illegally came
back to cities, were excited and looking forward to a democratic government, and they again started
to criticize the government and commented on the politics just like their predecessors did in the
Hundred Flowers Campaign. However, this situation did not satisfy Deng, who emphasized that the
correct line for China was to insist the absolute principle of the Party (Meisner, 457), and he then
decided to consolidate his power. In general, though Cultural Revolutionended, the political
struggles that it represented never stopped, and would be continued for years. Meinser points out
that Mao did construct the country and lead its people to reach many striking successes, including
building a modern nation state,

Basic Nursing Care in Pressure Sore Prevention Essay

Throughout this time different pedagogies have been explicated to prevent patients from

Patients get a pressure ulcer for a legion of rationalities. According to Alene Burke of Nursing
Assistant Education, some of the elements why people get them which she cited from Nettina, S.
(2009), are old age, deficient mobility, lack of moisture, and insufficient diet. Moreover, factors
like neurological and other physical problems, friction and shearing, bed and chairs with wrinkled
linens or hard objects and pressure ulcers in the past may similarly predispose pressure ulcer. This
observations implies that in nursing care pressure ulcers are prospected as negligence, however it
is arrogated that pressure ulcers are avoidable on the condition that prime level of care is
continuously rendered to patients and residents. (Burke 2010). Working in a healthcare domain
means providing the most effective and beneficial care for the incompetent patients. Particularly, to
those who needs intimate nursing assistance such as dressing, bathing, eating, toileting and skin
care activities ( Wurster 2007).This is especially true if the person is mentally, emotionally, and
physically dependent like the clients in nursing homes. Nurses, health care assistants or support

Literary Devices In Sleepy Hollow
Washington Irving:
The Author s Use of Fear Washington Irving is known as the father of the American Short Story.
Not only is he significant for the previous reason, but he is also famous for popularizing the
Gothic Tale of Terror. In terms of fear , Washington Irving is one of the most famous authors one
would think of when considering the term because his stories are set up quite literally to send chills
down the reader s spine as they read the story. Irving uses the literary device called effect to attain
that reaction, illustrating the efficiency of effect throughout his works. To begin, Washington Irving
creates a sense of fear through his use of effect at the beginning of the short story, Sleepy Hollow .
Effect is a term that describes the feeling or atmosphere in a story. Irving is the first author to use
this effective writing tool. It is very important in terms of setting up a story to draw in a reader
and to make them believe in the supernatural. In Sleepy Hollow , Irving uses effect from the very
first paragraph that he writes. He begins by describing how A small brook glides through [the
valley], with just murmur enough to lull one to repose; and the occasional whistle of a quail, or
tapping of a woodpecker, is almost the only sound that ever breaks in upon the uniform tranquility
(756). The way Irving sets up the story from the beginning is an almost eery quiet, leading you to
believe that the town is something out of a daydream. He is alluding to

In 1831, northern free slaves began to try to free slaves from forced captivity of southern slave
owners, which began the movement of the Underground Railroad. In 1865, the victory of the
civil war, freed four million black slaves, but white southerners were not happy with the idea of
slaves having freedom so they designed laws to restrict freed slaves from civility and ensure that
they did not lose their labor force. As the years went on and new laws were passed for citizenship,
white southerners continued to come up with ways to restrict Blacks from many social activities in
which they were already granted through the laws of the Constitution.
By the 19th century, many social forms of discrimination existed to keep Black Americans from
being equal to White Americans. Laws like separate but equal where put into places to keep Black
Americans from being in the same places as White Americans, like; neighborhoods, schools,
churches, restaurants, and so on. White Americans also believed that Blacks should not have the
right to vote; which led to many black movements for the continuous fight for equality in the
nation of freedom. By 1954 the Brown vs. Board of Education case reversed the separate but equal
doctrine that previously had been set in 1896, allowing children both White and Black children to

Do We Have Control Over Own Fate Research Paper
Do we have complete control over own fate? An individual might ask. In my opinion, one has
control over their own fate. A person determines what their fut6ure will be like by making your
own decisions. A person determines whether one was to eat healthy or junk food, to exercise or
to be lazy, to have a positive attitude or a bad attitude. In my opinion, the only thing in life that
one truly has full power over is ourselves. It s the only us who holds that power, no one else. At
times it may seem as though someone or something has taken over and is dictating our actions. One
must remember that it was our choicein the first place to give that power up and it is ours to take

It is our lie, every choice or decision that we make has an impact on our fate. Every decision has
a consequence; good or bad. One can only make own choices if one takes the actions to do so. If

This change can be best illustrated by comparison of Figures 1.1 and 1.2 in Appendix 1, wherein
the possible corporate structures may tend to three different values, i.e. cost, differentiation and
responsiveness; Spartan strategy has shifted its focus from a differentiation and responsive model
to a cost effective model.
Job shop method of production to Hybrid method.
The new corporate strategy implies re engineering from a job shop method of production to a hybrid
method of production. The former involved manufacturing operations with several departments,
each of which produced particular components whereas the latter being a flow operation where
multiple stations can work simultaneously. This will mainly allow Spartan to increase volume of
production, reduce lead time and it will further lead in cutting down the carrying cost of inventory,
even though the inventory will be high.
Change in Corporate Culture.
The new strategy will affect the corporate structure of the company. Earlier the work was based
on the specific requirements of the client and it was more of research based but now the focus on
research will be less and it will be more on general requirements. Therefore the type of work would
shift.

K-Pax Rhetorical Analysis
K Pax is a movie about a man, Prot, who claims to be an alien from the planet K Pax. Admitted to
the Psychiatric Institute of Manhattan, Prot is evaluated as delusional by psychiatrist Mark

The Reproductive Right Debate Essays
No other element of the Women s Rights Movement has generated as much controversy as the
debate over reproductive rights. As the movement gained momentum so did the demand for birth
control, sex education, family planning and the repeal of all abortion laws. On January 22, 1973
the Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wadedecision which declared abortionfundamental
right. The ruling recognized the right of the individual to be free from unwanted governmental
intrusion into matters so fundamentally affecting a person as the right of a woman to decide
whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. (US Supreme Court, 1973) This federal level ruling

495) Abortions were linked to low birth rates of American children, and fear was spread that with
the continuing birth rates, the population would no longer be able to reproduce itself The fear was
that lower class and immigrant children would soon make up the majority. Abortion was seen as a
privilege more available to the higher classes than the lower ones, thus explaining the imbalance in
birth rates. (Linders, 1998) Another key issue in the argument to criminalize abortions was the
attempt by doctors to establish exclusive rights to practice medicine. They wanted to prevent
midwives, apothecaries, and other untrained practitioners from competing with them for patients
and patient fees. Rather than openly admitting to such motivations, the newly formed American
Medical Association (AMA) argued that abortion was both immoral and dangerous. By 1910, all
but one state had criminalized abortion except where necessary, in a doctor s judgment, to save the
woman s life. Should the woman die in that situation, it would not be because of the abortion but in
spite of it. (p.494) In this way, legal abortion was successfully transformed into a physicians only
practice. (Linders, 1998) Unfortunately, the criminalization of abortion did not

however, due to the byzantine and ineffective nature of the Federal Bureaucracy, it is impossible
to verify if the money is even so much as used for its intended purpose. Looking at this budget,
two sections stand out as bloated, which is a statement in a budget that is packed with Pork
barrel spending: Procurement, and Maintenance. Ultimately, should these two areas of the
budget be reasonably downsized, and the others thoroughly audited, the DoD s operating
expenses could be reduced drastically, much to the taxpayer s benefit. Procurement is, by far,
the easiest section of the budget to pare down; a few simple reforms in regards to the process by
which government contracts are granted, coupled with the elimination of several pork barrel
programs, could save federal government millions of dollars. In regards to contracts, all deals
should be strictly held to the original price and time frame; While that might seem like an
obvious step, it is in fact a great leap forward for the DoD, where most programs go over budget.
A Poignant example of this is the F 35 fighter jet, which has cost taxpayers 100 billion more than
expected, and is 7 years behind on production. Further more, if regulations

Orca Whales
The phylum of Orca Whales are Chordata. The subphylum is vertebrata. Animals of the Chordata
family have four key features: notochord, dorsal hollow nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, and post anal
tail. Notochords are a flexible rod shaped structure that is found in the embryonic stage of
development along in the adult stage of some chordatespecies. This feature is located within the
digestive tube and the nerve cord; it provides skeletal support through the length of the body. The
dorsal hollow nerve cord comes from the ectoderm that rolls into a hollow tube during the
development stage. The ectoderm is an outer layer of three tissues within the embryo that produces
the epidermis and nervous system. This feature is usually located dorsally near... Show more content

Jawless fish are similar to other fish expect that did not evolve with any jaw; they instead use a
circular sucker like mouth to attach and suck the blood of their prey. An example would be the
sea lamprey or eels. Cartilaginous fish have jaws but their skeleton is made of flexible cartilage,
they don t have bones. Examples of these animals are sharks, skates, and rays; these organisms are
often the predator hunting for their food. Bony fish are the largest class of vertebrate with about
29,000 species living in various environments like freshwater, coral reefs, and salt water. Bony fish
have a skeleton made entirely of bone; they tend to have good eyesight too. These organisms have
operculum which is a special flap that allows the fish to breathe without swimming by covering and
protecting the gills. Salmon, cod, and sturgeon are examples of bony fish. Reptiles are a four legged
class of vertebrate who have adapted to living on land better than amphibians. These adaptions
include some features like amniotic eggs, tough skin that is coated by keratin, and a respiratory
system that has branching bronchial tubes within the lungs. Amniotic eggs are eggs that have
amniotic fluid nourishing and protecting the embryo within the egg. Another feature that reptiles
have are the capability to molt, which means they shed their outer skin, replacing it with new.
Creatures that fall under reptiles are snakes, turtles, crocodiles and lizards. Amphibians are four
legged creatures that do not lay eggs with amniotic fluid; instead these eggs tend to dry out fast
forcing the amphibian to lay their eggs in water. These creatures use their lungs to capture oxygen
rather than using gills like fish. Amphibians interchange their environment between on land or in
the water. Salamanders, toads, and frogs are examples of amphibians. Birds are

Purchasing is a vital process of the company, 100% efficiency is required at all times. There must be
proper organization and flexibility in this department. People working in this department should
constantly evaluate the current purchasing scheme of the company and adapt to changes at all

Pursuing An Education For Public Policy
During an economics lecture the professor said to my class I do not know whether the increasing
income inequality is an issue or not . I was perplexed. I thought the goal of Economics, as a social
science, was to achieve the maximum welfare of people while efficiently using resources. So how
is income inequality that renders many people worse off, not an issue? By not stating his opinion,
he wished to remain unbiased. However, if everyone were to keep their understanding of justice and
inequality to themselves without meaningful dialogues, no societal issue would gain attention or
action.
I felt my theoretical background required training in practical applications to conceive working
solutions to some of the most pressing problems of our time. Realizing I want to be equipped with
the tools necessary to take appropriate measures when the welfare of individuals is compromised, I
knew I should seek an education in Public Policy. With my interdisciplinary academic background,
I aspire to contribute to the field of Public Policy by bringing a transnational feminist perspective
to the socio economic policy discourse. Therefore, there is no better place for me to pursue my
doctoral degree in Public Policy than at Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.
My experiences in research and community service have molded my policy interests and prepared
me for my graduate education in policy formulation and analysis. My joint research paper on the
lives of women veterans in the U.S.

Romeo And Juliet Who s To Blame
Everyone has someone they blame for something that happens, who is the real one to blame for
this fault? Most people blame the wrong people. But in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet the
blame lies with the family feud because it creates unnecessary conflicts. Some may say that
Balthasar holds the most blame for Romeo and Juliet s deaths. After all, Balthasar is the one who
tells Romeo Juliet is dead. This causes Romeo s downward spiral, which ultimately results in
Romeo s death. When she discovers Romeo s death, Juliet stabs herself. While this may be true,
the family feud holds the most blame for the outcome of the play. The fights that are alluded to by
the Prince that occurred before the start of the play. When Romeo s servants were fighting... Show

That next morning Romeo, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and the Nurse were all their for Romeo and

How Has Technology Changed Over The Years
As we all know technology has improved throughout its years. Everywhere we look we see a
screen, whether it s a phone, a self scanner, or a self service screen in McDonalds. Technology is
taking over everything and many people s jobs. When I get older I want to become an LPS
(Licensed Practical Nurse). They basically draw blood,in charge of administering medicine,
checking vital signs ,etc. So far technology has become a big part of this job. Many nurses or
any person in the medical field uses technology to find the person s BP with just a press of a
button. You can check the person s medical history with an iPad,laptop, phone any type of
electronic device. In my opinion technology won t take over the job I want in the future because
this has to do with people s well being. Even our phones glitch sometimes, what if we drop the iPad
and it glitches and takes out what the patients allergic to. Technology could improve even more

Pediatric Lab Assignment For this assignment, my groupmates and I decided to use the Peabody
Developmental Motor Scale. We chose this assessment because our patient was a chronological
age of thirteen months (premature 1 week, 9 days) and were aiming to look at her gross motor
function in the following areas: reflexes, stationary, locomotion, object manipulation. Our results
provided us with raw scores of: 12 for reflexes, 36 for stationary, 53 for locomotion and 1 for
object manipulation. Due to our patient, Olivia, being premature we decided to compare her
percentile ranks to her chronological age and her corrected age. Upon doing so, we found that our
patient was in higher percentile ranks for her corrected age than her chronological age.

Analysis Of The Poem Exposure By Wilfred Owen
The poetry written in World War I was mostly dark and told of the terrible conditions of the war.
The poetry shows how the soldiers suffered and struggled through unimaginable conditions. The
conditions of the weather and battle were often brutal and uninhabitable; yet the soldiers endured
these conditions. Nature was often a slow and painful killer. War is a constant in an ever changing
world. It is easy to see that fighting is an almost futile attempt to conquer and prevail. The poetry
from the war can express the pain of war in a beautiful manner. Through writing the authors can
share the pain of what they experienced at war. The difficulty of war is viewed differently through
the eyes of these two narrators, and while one views nature as the true enemy, the other sees the
loss of people back home as the hardship.
The point of view a person has is often shaped by their life experiences. The reader can see how
war can change a soldier s ideals as they experience it. In the poem Exposure, Wilfred Owen
writes about the mental toll war takes on the human mind. He writes about how the soldier is
worried by silence, sentries whisper, curious, nervous but nothing happens . This shows the soldier
s paranoia during the night. The soldier s cannot rest even though it is quiet, because they are afraid
of what they cannot hear. Their paranoia is taking over their minds and making them nervous about
what is to come. Owen tells us how the cold and slightly changing conditions wear and

CHINA: WHERE IT S BEEN AND WHERE IT S GOING 2
Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to show how the economy of China has, and is changing, becoming the
second largest economy in the world today. Although China is currently under the leadership of Xi
Jinping, this essay will concentrate primarily on the actions undertaken by then President Mao
Zedong, followed by then President Deng Xiaoping, (sans mention of Hua Guofeng). Given the
relative infancy of Xi s assumption of power, economic policies still remain largely rhetorical in
form. Likewise, the majority of literature concerning economic policies under Xi are largely
speculative, often citing strategies and ambitions as opposed to thereby, lacking a solid basis for
rational induction In addition to China s lack of transparency, In addition, it will be shown that the
methodology behind the Chinese economy demonstrates the implementation of varying levels of
the characteristics associated with the schools of Realism, Marxism and Liberalism. Thus, China s
approach to global trade in the 21st Century is pluralistic, testamentary to the failed economic

Essay on Battle of Gen X and Gen Y
The Battle of Gen X and Gen Y
ThereВЎВ¦s no doubt about it, the newest diversity issue in the workplace is age diversity. Many
organizations have finally figured out how to recruit young talent only to watch them drive down a
collision course with seasoned employees over issues like work ethic, respect for authority, dress
code and every work arrangement imaginable. And they re not sure what to do about it.
With this paper, I decided to take this concept because of the people that I have to work with on a
continual basis. They are usually people from the Generation X trying to communicate with
Generation Y. Just the other day I heard from someone I am working with, ВЎВ§Those god d*

It is this realism and ability to deal with issues rather than ignore them. Most are decent, pragmatic,
creative, strongly independent, self reliant, and hard working. They have a surprisingly good work
ethic including a strong sense of company loyalty, as long as it s reciprocal and we want to get
ahead, even though we aren t as concerned with the trappings of quot;success quot; as earlier
generations were. However, they are very concerned with financial and emotional security, and
hopeful that the future will be good to us, but shockingly realistic and honest about the struggles
that they are going to face in a rapidly changing world of diminishing resources.
On the downside of the two generations, a lot of the Generation XВЎВ¦ers will butt heads with
their younger counterparts. The old fashioned way of communicating via personal phone is being
replaced with an e mail or cell phone. Technology is ok but Gen Y is proficient and not afraid to
use it, and this kind of attitude demands change where as the Gen X just accepts it. Also, when it
comes to employer loyalty, if the Gen Y doesnВЎВ¦t get their Saturday off they will quit; whereas
the Gen X thinks if I do this it could give me a promotion. The battle lines are clearly drawn in the
line of attitude and influences of the age diversity of this group.
So after drawing the battle lines between the two generations, I sat back and

Analysis Of Lewis And The World Of Wonder
C.S. Lewis and the World of Wonder The Story Behind The Chronicles of Narnia Raindrops
splashed against the glass; but Jack stared past them, far beyond to the Green Hills. So beautiful.
So unreachable. Jack was born in Ireland in 1898, before most people had cars. They had no
televisions and no radios. The world was big and wonderful and mysterious. Jack s real name
was Clive Staples Lewis, but he didn t like that name. Would you? He picked the name Jack. He
made everyone call him Jack. If someone called him Clive, he would not answer. When Jack
was six, his family moved. The New House was huge, with empty rooms, long hallways, and
dusty attics. Imagine exploring a house like that. Jack also liked exploring books. His mother
and father loved to read, and they saved all their books. They filled the New House with books
books in the study, in bedrooms, and on the stair landing, books in the attic piled up to Jack s
shoulders. Oh, the splendid hours he spent reading! On rainy afternoons these books transported
him to different times and different worlds. Jack made up his own country called Animal Land.
The animals wore clothes and talked and ruled the land. Jack s older brother Warnie wrote stories
about India with trains and steamships. Jack and Warnie combined their countries into one country
called Boxen. They wrote about Boxen together. Then Warnie left for a boarding school in
England. One hundred years ago, when Jack was a boy, many parents did not

The Theme Of Sexual Hysteria In The Turn Of The Screw
The Turn of the Screw has been so often object to literary criticism as barely another piece of
literature has. The so called Freudian reading of the likes of Harold C. Goddard, Edna Kenton, and
its maybe best known figure Edmund Wilson is probably the most remarkable interpretation.
According to it the governess suffers sexual hysteria deriving from her suppressed amorous feelings
towards the master. Unconsciously of them her fantasy conjures up the ghosts of BlyВґs former
valet Peter Quint and her predecessor Miss Jessel who want to get hold of the children. In saving
her charges the governess can ply the heroine in her made up drama to win the attention and love of
the master.

like Miles revealing to the governess that the children indeed can see the ghosts (The Turn of the

FloraВґs swearing (1:11:20), Miles actually being taught depravity by the living Peter Quint and
Miss Jessel having sex in the boyВґs presence (1:12:10), Dr. Fisher hearing ghostly voices and
spotting the apparition of Quint on a photo of the tower, Miles being dismissed from school

Writing this paper I am fully aware of these unambiguous elements and they do not negate my
work because I do not claim my interpretation to be the only valid one. I simply wanted to show
how ideas of the Freudian reading and particularly of RennerВґs essay seem to have found their

How Has Country Music Changed
Country music once started out as bout that twang and trains and hillbilly thing as Trace Adkins
would say. But as we have evolved and technology has changes so has societies taste in country
music. Country music was founded in the rural part of society, but as time as gone on and people
have changed so has the music. Country now has evolved into a more pop sound rather than the
twang it started out as. Why has the music changed, and what caused this change? Let me take
you back in time where it all began. We will need to dig back into time to learn about country and
where it all started and how it has changed to what it is today.
Country music is defined as a style and genre of largely string accompanied American popular
music having roots in the folk music of the Southeast and cowboy music of the West, usually
vocalized, generally simple in form and harmony, and accompanied by romantic or melancholy
ballads accompanied by acoustic or electric guitar, banjo, violin, and harmonica (Dictionary.com).
Country music first started out in the back woods or the sticks. This type of music reflects the
expression of the working class people . Most country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

provocative as well. A good example of this is Justin Aldean Burning it Down some of the lyrics
You slip your finger through the tear of my t shirt, you stirrin up dirty in the back of my mind ,
laying right here naked in my bed . This new age country appeals to the younger crowd, rather then

has the old age country mixed with new age pop

Renoir s Luncheon of the Boating Party Essay examples
Luncheon of the Boating Party Luncheon of the Boating Party is a European artwork painted in
1880 1881 by French Impressionist, Pierre Auguste Renoir. In traditional Impressionist style,
Renoir depicted a scene from modern life and based it in a place he knew well the Restaurant
Fournaise. Chatou was one of Renoir s beloved settings and Luncheon of the Boating Party is a
romanticized portrait of his friends enjoying a Sunday afternoon on the balcony of the restaurant.
His intention was to take a normal scene and create a modern day party that portrayed the youth and
beauty of his friends. The arrangement of Luncheon of the Boating Party represents a relatively
new Impressionist movement as well as the changing character of French... Show more content on

But even the men in the white tank tops with more flesh exposed, their hats are fine, and their
body language is relaxed and do not portray that of a servant. I noticed the sail and row boats in
the distance, the women surrounding the table; laughter, wine and company, and obvious
friendship, but maybe also boredom. Was this a pre or post boating trip as the title hints? Was
this painting staged, or maybe even a band and live music playing to the side? After closely
looking over the portrait, what is most interesting to me is that contrary to the large number of
people in the painting, no one s gazes meet, showing no connections between the people, although
most are smiling. Wave After doing research on this portrait, I find that the setting of Luncheon of
the Boating Party is at the upstairs terrace of the Masion Fournaise restaurant on an island in the
Seine at Chatou. The painting conveys a casual and contemporary gathering of people sharing
food, wine, and conversation on a balcony overlooking the Seine. The people in Renoir s
paintings are actually personal friends of his. The woman in the lower left is Aline Charigot,
Renoir s future wife. Charigot was clearly painted with the most detail and coloring, and holds the
most presence in the painting which could be a hint as to Renoir s fancy of her. Standing behind
her, leaning on the railing, is Alphonse Fournaise, the son of the restaurant s owner. In the

  • 2. We Often Fall In Love With People And Think Long And Hard We often fall in love with people and think long and hard about what it is that we really love about them. Is it their smile? Personality? Laugh, maybe? The eyes? We can all agree that we all have the same problem. That we can t exactly explain why we love the person. Well in this case, sonnet XVII, Pablo Neruda loves his beloved from the inside, not the outside features. Pablo Neruda was born in Chile and his sonnets are originally written in Spanish. He published the 100 LoveSonnets in 1959. He had an affair with his second wife with Matilde Urrutia. Later, they got married in 1966, but they have been together since 1946. Apparently, Urrutia is the inspiration for 100 love Sonnets. So let s assume that the sonnets are about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the original Spanish version, we see the rhyme scheme. The octave lines end with the words topacio, fuego, oscuras, alma, lleva, flores, cuerpo, and tierra. The rhyme scheme is aabc cbac. The sestet lines end with the words dГіnde, orgullo, manera, eres, mГa, and sueГ±o. These words give the sestet a rhyme scheme of bac bca. With this writing style, in this case, free verse, Neruda is able to convey the message effectively. Through his words and style of writing, we can get an idea of what kind of guy he is. In the first stanza, he describes what love is not. Neruda says I don t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz, or arrow of carnations that propagate fire. Here he uses nature to describe what love is not. But again, later we see that he uses plants to declare his love. Moreover, the rose of salt is a reference to a type of rose that grows by the ocean. A carnation usually symbolizes purity of love and affection and a topaz is a mineral that comes in many colors. The first two lines indicate that his love for his partner is not the same as the love one has for materialistic things or flowers. The line I love you as one loves dark things, secretly, between the shadow and the soul. Neruda suggest what his emotional placement of love is. It is deep in his soul and heart. He describes his love to dark things, but what does he mean by that? It makes me think that there is something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The True Meaning Of Love In Love With My Best Friend Whenever I was a junior in high school, I fell completely in love with my best friend. I know this sounds cliche, but this experience lead to many lessons. I did not realize another human being could have such an impact on my life. Love is crazy because it is unexpected and smacks you right in the face. I did not realize this person would be my every thing for the next two years. I did not realize all the lessons I learned and growing I did. I not only learned the true meaning of heartbreak, but the true meaning of loveand life. With this experience, I reached out to see how different people cope, what I have learned, and how this shaped me into who I am. The craziest thing about love is that it is abstract. You may love an object or person, but you can not grab love. I am not going to go on about my relationship, but the after math. The intimate details do not matter to me anymore. After every thing went down, I felt broken. I felt like nothing in my life was going to be okay again. Isn t it unimaginable how something you can not even see makes you feel this way? I shut out every thing around me and pushed people away. All because one person decided to give up when I did not want to. Even after the horrible exchanges of words were tossed back and forth, I still did not want to give up. I was hoping his love would be strong enough to realize how much I cared. But it did not. It did not mean anything to that careless boy. I d rather walk barefoot across broken glass. Weeks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Excellence in Customer Service Organisations Often Fail... BSBCUS501C Work Related Project Question 1 Excellence in customer service is the objective of all organisations wishing to be successful. However, there is often a gap between customer expectations and management perceptions of customer expectations. Organisations often fail to get close to their customers and correctly read their expectations. Other reasons for customer service problems include: * not listening to or collecting information from customers * poor, or no, focus on the actual design of processes to turn identified customer needs into products and services * gaps between what the organisation intends to produce for its customers and what its systems do actually produce * gaps between what the system is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Segmentation is usually done to understand the needs of customers more elaborately or distinctly. When asking customers for their input or feedback, they need to feel as if their opinions matter, they are more likely to continue supporting the organisation if they feel their feedback has been taken seriously and into consideration. Listening to the customer and acting timely on their feedback is important for the organisation, failing to understand a customer s needs can result in widespread negative comments about the organisation and the loss of customers and potential customers. By not listening to customers and understanding what they need from a product or service will not allow the organisation to maintain its effectiveness in the market place, producing poor quality products or service and effecting overall profitability for the organisation. Each organisation needs to develop and establish procedures, standards and guidelines for customer service requirements and communicate these to all staff. By establishing courses of action to accomplish specific goals, utilising information and data obtained through feedback will assist in identifying and acting upon the customer s needs. These may be established through strategic or action plans that identifies the customer s need, arranges for, and obtains resources needed to accomplish the desired goals and objectives. The Federal Reserve Transparency Act When discussing various issues affecting the federal government, transparency issues have to be put on the front line because the Federal Reserve s should have one of the most transparent systems. The Federal Reserve transparency act was formulated in order to ensure that there is transparency in the federal reserves through making the federal government publicize most of the financial institutions that it offers loans to and the organizations which use the open market operations in order to purchase bonds. It s more likely to embarrass the central bank in the exposure of the federal transactions and that can lead to political pressure in the congress. Most of the balance sheets concerning the federal government activities and the financial statements have to be made clear to the public through auditing. This is because most of these reports are not detailed in terms of the various transactions with the foreign governments in the US and the central banks in the US. This forms a major concern in terms of auditing the federal reserves. With the proper support of auditing the federal reserves, it can make the various reports to be conclusive in terms of transactions carried out between the federal reserves and the other governments. Most of the working balances dealing with the foreign currencies and offering contracts are not related to the monetary policy operations in the FRBNY. In the financial statements, most of these incomes are recognized as others. Most of the proponents in support of auditing want to know the why, the who and the how much money was involved in such dealings. Greater details would be able to signify issues of accountability and not indicating using one number, others in the financial statements. There is less public knowledge in issues dealing with FOMC meetings and that has been able to affect the issues of transparency in the monetary issues. Through the meetings, the monetary policies regarding the global issues are discussed and therefore the public is entitled to now the progress of the various meetings. This can be done through ... Has been working as an ambassador of India to a global audience since the day of its inception. In India, it is often seen that films made in Hindi targeted at a larger audience, commonly known as mainstream movies or Bollywood films, employ a different grammar of filmmaking than that is used in so called sensible or parallel cinema while representing or portraying different aspects and sections of society, race, culture, gender and class. In this paper, I try to focus on the representations of Caucasian characters, or the white, in popular Hindi cinema, or Bollywood films,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Hollywood has techniques that permit its fictional world to appear internally coherent and invisibly put together, Indian films are orchestrated by another sensibility of coherence and reality (Jaikumar 25). This another sense of coherence and reality often plays a vital role in the portrayal of characters belonging to different ethnic backgrounds in the mainstream Bollywood flicks. The reason why non Indian characters from the subcontinent, i.e. the Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Afghans or Sri Lankans are not being considered in this discussion is that the socio cultural gap between India and her neighbouring countries are relatively less and how they are portrayed in Bollywood films demands a new discussion altogether due to extremely convoluted bilateral or multilateral political, social and historical relationships between India and any of these countries. Unlike the Hollywood, where in the 1930s, white actors had to play Asian roles by putting on extra make up, Hindi films had white actors playing white characters. Among the Hollywood films, we see Douglass Dumbrille playing Mohammed Khan and Noble Johnson playing Ram Singh in the famous Gary Cooper film The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (dir. Henry Hathaway/ 1935), C. Henry Gordon as Surat Khan, J. • 7. Shame, By Tim O Brian Throughout this quarter we have read many books and many genres, at first glance they don t seem to have any intertwining themes or ideas. Yet when you dig deeper than face value you can see that there is many underlying themes that the average reader might easily overlook. Shame is an overall human element that is seen all throughout; The Things They Carried, the Fifth Child, and Pocatello. Shameis the key to good literature, it is what drives the other emotions, and without shame people would not be people. The Things They Carried, was riddled with the idea of shame. One simple example is when Tim O Brian was drafted and he wanted to run away to Canada to be safe from the U.S. military. This was an important internal battle for him, which he ultimately decided to fight against and join the army, as law required. Shame was important in this piece of literature to bring out the soldiers feelings and their true intentions. Shame also came out in the burning of First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross letters from his sweetheart, Martha, after a man in his company died. He felt shame. He hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his men, and as a consequence Lavender was now dead. He burned the letters because he was ashamed that he let the letters get to him and distract him from, what he decided was more important, the war. Ben had to deal with a kinds of shame, he had his family ashamed of him and he was ashamed of himself. His whole family was disgraced the way he look and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fuel isn t taxed as heavily as gasoline, so the extra cost quickly pays for itself. Most drivers aren t even aware of the slight differences in acceleration rates or engine power. But propane and butane are still petroleum products, so they don t cut dependence on oil, nor are they anywhere near pollution free when they burn. The latter also applies to the million or so cars that run on liquified natural gas today. They won t meet California s tough emissions standard. Nor will the new Honda Insight, rolled out for its European debut at the Paris show. Already on sale in Japan and the U.S., this model is a so called hybrid: it has both a conventional engine and an electric motor. The motor s battery gets charged automatically with energy recouped every time the car brakes. When the car accelerates or goes up a hill, the electric motor kicks in; that gives power peaks without extra gas use. The gas is turned off completely when the car coasts or stands still; the motor jumps in to power the car s other functions. It was built in the Minoan political center of Knossos by King Minos around 1900 BC. The palace is an extremely intricate building standing five stories with large, beautiful paintings on its walls known as frescos; it even had indoor plumbing. It is apparent that only the most important people in Minoan society lived in the palace because of its grandeur and beauty. Linear B writing emerged in Knossos after Linear A writing but before the fall of the Palace of Knossos. We can then deduce that people writing in Linear B (Mycenaeans) conquered those writing in Linear A (Minoans), or at the very least, Minoans allowed the Linear B writers into its political center as a peaceful accommodation. Nonetheless, finding the Linear B tablets at the Palace of Knossos is important because it lets us know that at some point Mycenaeans had lived on the Island of Crete. Finally, discovering Linear B tablets allows us to see how the Greek language evolved because the tablets show Greek language its very earliest form. Linear A is the writing system of the Minoans that lived on Crete. Like its child system Linear B, Linear A writing is a system where one symbol represents one syllable in language. The reason Linear A writing was developed by the Minoans is because the Minoans wanted to keep record of what was bartered. Essentially, the Minoans developed a writing system so they could keep receipts. Sadly, the language that Linear A displayed is still unknown to us today. The Mycenaeans really admired the culture of the Minoans. As a result, the Mycenaeans based their writing system off of the Minoans Linear A writing. Without Linear A, we would not have been able to see the first Greek writings in Linear B. Essentially, without Linear A the first Greek writings would not have been recorded in Linear B. • 10. Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God For thousands of years the idea of God have been questioned and proposed by philosophers, scientists and scholars alike. Many have argued for and against its existence and it s still a subject of heated debates in the present day. Since God is a notion about an entity that was never seen or heard from by anyone, it has been a strenuous struggle to substantiate his existence. Yet, great philosophers have always found a way to validate the idea of God through their own way of reasoning. The philosophical discussions about God s existence began with pre modern philosophers such as Plato, Saint Augustine, and it was further examined by modern philosophers such as Descartes etc. In this essay I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However much they may lack form, and however great may be their propensity not to exist, nonetheless some form remains in them so that they do exist in some way.. so this should be enough of a proof that all good things come from God, since everything that exists whether that which has understanding, life, and existence or that which has only life and existence, or that which has existence alone is from God. (Williams, 1993, p.53) In other words all finite things owe their existence to God and these things in turn must be good, since they are creatures of God. To demonstrate the goodness of God and its creatures, Augustine stretches the idea of lack of the good. Evil, he believes, is the privation of the good. Thus, evil is created by the absence of the good and by the absence of God. The conclusion is all good and powerful God exists. Another major philosopher Rene Descartes who attempted to prove God s existence wrote a book titled Meditations, which was composed of six essays, each of which tried to answer different philosophical questions about self existence, human nature, distinction between body and mind and about existence of God, etc. The idea of God was so important to Descartes that he devoted an entire essay to the discussion and substantiating of God s existence. In Meditations, similarly to Augustine, Descartes begins his evaluation of God by first proving his own existence, because how can he prove God exists if he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities of the Human Spirit in Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Grey The human spirit is one of the most beautiful forces in the world, but it is also one of the most vulnerable. In the novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde, this idea of the human spirit is portrayed clearly. Both novels have similar aspects about the human spirit, but they also have their differences. Another example from the novel is when the monster starts to become familiar with the little beauties and simplicities of life, but begins to realize that society rejects him because of his revolting appearance. This is due to Victor s ignorance of the monster s feelings and knowledge, because Victor never told the monster what he was, a hideous and revolting creature. Victor blames himself for these innocent crimes committed by the monster that he created and silently goes crazy, then dies from becoming very ill. Before his death, Victor asked his friend Walton to kill the monster, because he didn t have the strength. His motivation, the monster, drove him to the brink of insanity and eventually death. In the novel The Picture of Dorian Grey, Dorian, the novel s main character, is influenced greatly by his friend and mentor, Lord Henry, and kills himself because he listens to everything that Lord Henry says and believes it. • 12. Al Qaed Terrorist Groups Essay Founded by Osama bin Laden around the late 1980 s, one of the largest, most terrifying, terrorist groups known worldwide is the Islamist organization, Al Qaeda. According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Jayshree Bajoria and Greg Bruno examine Al Qaeda as an international terrorist network that seeks to free Muslim countries of profane influence, and replace governments with fundamentalist Islamic regimes. Originating back to around 1988, Al Qaeda grew out of a Service Office, run by Osama bin Ladenand Abdullah Azzam. The Services Office would recruit international Muslims from more than fifty countries, training, and financing them into foreign mujahedeen and holy warriors. Although Al Qaeda does not operate at a single headquarters, the bases of all operations are constructed either within Afghanistan, Pakistan or along the boarder (par. 2, 3, 4). Known as one of the most notorious terrorist groups in the world, Al Qaeda is considered a terrorist group because of their ideologues and goals, along with their extreme use of violence. Forming as an effort to support Muslims against the Soviets in the Afghanistan war, developed a strong hatred towards non Islamic governments. As a growing organization, Al Qaeda maintained officers in countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States. • 13. Oedipus The King Speech Analysis Ladies and gentlemen, I am honored to have been invited to talk to you all tonight about OSU s upcoming production of Oedipus Rex in my capacity as someone expert in Greek history. Many of you will already be familiar with the outlines of the tragic story and I will not rehash those plot details tonight. What I would like to highlight are some of the ways that knowing the background of ancient Greek history helps us understand the play better. For instance, we could start with the title, usually rendered Oedipus Rex Oedipus the King, Rex of course being the Latin for king. Yet more accurately the title was Oedipus Tyrannus Oedipus the Tyrant . Was Oedipus a good and wise king, or an evil tyrant whose hold on power was seen as illicit? Tonight I will argue that Oedipus was indeed a good and wise king, however, his power grasp was illicit due to him not being a proper king, and just a crowd backed ruler. Another important issue concerns the staging of the play. We are used to serious plays in which a few actors push the drama along through their speeches and actions. Song and dance with a chorus are something we might expect from a musical, a lighthearted comedy. We might be tempted to see the singing as a vestige of a past time, without major function. It is also possible to argue the opposite, that the music and vocal elements, even more than the speech, provided the main emotional drive for this play. No matter how we try, Success always seems to remain just outside of our grasp and difficulties appear impossible to overcome. However, if we ascribe to the Law of Attraction, it becomes clear that any negativity will only emphasise our despair and avert our attentions from our Passion for Success. Therefore it is clearly necessary that you start to nurture a positive mindset to help overcome problems on days where life seems firmly stacked against you. The basic principles of the law of Attraction states that we become whatever we create through our own thought. By allowing negative thoughts to cultivate in our minds, we will by default attract more of the same into our future. Imagine the moment you open your credit card ... • 20. Chemical Reaction On Chemical Change Analyzing chemical change Abstract Changes can be chemical or physical in nature. If a chemical change is taking place we will be breaking bonds and forming new bonds and therefore creating a new substance. In a Physical change we will have the same substance but simply in a new form. (Dickinson et al. 197). In order to collect evidence to prove a chemical change is occurring we need a change in the indicators. The more active a chemical is the more likely it will have a chemical reaction with another chemical. (Dickinson et al. 180) The higher the element is on the Activity Series the more reactive it is. (Dickinson et al. 192) A reactive element will replace an element that is underneath it in the activity series. (Dickinson et al. 192) In this lab we will examine chemical reactions with the activity series, indicators and the type of chemical reaction it is. The purpose of this lab is to study chemical change and analyze why and how chemical reactions are created. In this lab we are going to combine certain chemicals with each other to create a chemical change and we will observe and record any changes. The chemical reactions listed in the Results had all gone through chemical change and all the indicators have been recorded. Though the new leaders tried to help China recover from the revolution and rebuild the economic systems, the influences of the revolution did not vanish quickly. Other than the political struggles that the Party faced, the society also created troubles. The intellectuals, especially the sent down youths who illegally came back to cities, were excited and looking forward to a democratic government, and they again started to criticize the government and commented on the politics just like their predecessors did in the Hundred Flowers Campaign. However, this situation did not satisfy Deng, who emphasized that the correct line for China was to insist the absolute principle of the Party (Meisner, 457), and he then decided to consolidate his power. Effect is a term that describes the feeling or atmosphere in a story. Irving is the first author to use this effective writing tool. It is very important in terms of setting up a story to draw in a reader and to make them believe in the supernatural. I hope to be able to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must be described in great detail.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal people. The writer uses words like solemnly to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the people there. The placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a tough man . But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the picture of the child was put in because it is moving. On top of all that is deciding which college you would want to attend and the process to get into whatever school you choose. Being that I was born in the small town of Brownfield, Texas and most of my family is from there, they made frequent trips to Lubbock being that it was only forty five minutes away. Admitted to the Psychiatric Institute of Manhattan, Prot is evaluated as delusional by psychiatrist Mark Powell. As the movement gained momentum so did the demand for birth control, sex education, family planning and the repeal of all abortion laws. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wadedecision which declared abortionfundamental right. The ruling recognized the right of the individual to be free from unwanted governmental intrusion into matters so fundamentally affecting a person as the right of a woman to decide whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. Abortion was seen as a privilege more available to the higher classes than the lower ones, thus explaining the imbalance in birth rates. (Linders, 1998) Another key issue in the argument to criminalize abortions was the attempt by doctors to establish exclusive rights to practice medicine. They wanted to prevent midwives, apothecaries, and other untrained practitioners from competing with them for patients and patient fees. Rather than openly admitting to such motivations, the newly formed American Medical Association (AMA) argued that abortion was both immoral and dangerous. By 1910, all but one state had criminalized abortion except where necessary, in a doctor s judgment, to save the woman s life. Should the woman die in that situation, it would not be because of the abortion but in spite of it. (p.494) In this way, legal abortion was successfully transformed into a physicians only practice. • 37. Time To Rebuild; The Department of Defense Must be... The Department of Defense takes up the majority of the US budget; it not only pulls in over a trillion dollars of taxpayer money yearly, but it also is unable to accurately account for the exact whereabouts of those funds year after year. The DoD does, of course, offer its own budget, however, due to the byzantine and ineffective nature of the Federal Bureaucracy, it is impossible to verify if the money is even so much as used for its intended purpose. Looking at this budget, two sections stand out as bloated, which is a statement in a budget that is packed with Pork barrel spending: Procurement, and Maintenance. Ultimately, should these two areas of the budget be reasonably downsized, and the others thoroughly audited, the DoD s operating expenses could be reduced drastically, much to the taxpayer s benefit. Procurement is, by far, the easiest section of the budget to pare down; a few simple reforms in regards to the process by which government contracts are granted, coupled with the elimination of several pork barrel programs, could save federal government millions of dollars. In regards to contracts, all deals should be strictly held to the original price and time frame; While that might seem like an obvious step, it is in fact a great leap forward for the DoD, where most programs go over budget. A Poignant example of this is the F 35 fighter jet, which has cost taxpayers 100 billion more than expected, and is 7 years behind on production. Further more, if regulations ... The poetry shows how the soldiers suffered and struggled through unimaginable conditions. The conditions of the weather and battle were often brutal and uninhabitable; yet the soldiers endured these conditions. Nature was often a slow and painful killer. War is a constant in an ever changing world. It is easy to see that fighting is an almost futile attempt to conquer and prevail. The poetry from the war can express the pain of war in a beautiful manner. Through writing the authors can share the pain of what they experienced at war. The difficulty of war is viewed differently through the eyes of these two narrators, and while one views nature as the true enemy, the other sees the loss of people back home as the hardship. The point of view a person has is often shaped by their life experiences. The reader can see how war can change a soldier s ideals as they experience it. In the poem Exposure, Wilfred Owen writes about the mental toll war takes on the human mind. He writes about how the soldier is worried by silence, sentries whisper, curious, nervous but nothing happens . This shows the soldier s paranoia during the night.
