Essay about Service Marketing
Introduction
In an ideal situation, customers would not have to wait for the delivery of products and services.
However, in the real world, organizations cannot always match exact capability and demand;
therefore, waiting is frequently inevitable while purchasing, especially in service marketing, as service
firms can barely inventory their stock for sale at a later date (Lovelock, 1992, p.154). In general,
waiting in lines known as queuing , happens when the number of customers arrive at a facility exceeds
the capability of the system to serve them (Lovelock Wirtz, 2011, p.260). Basically, this essay will
state the relationship between queuing and customer satisfaction, as well as relationship between
customer satisfaction and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the consumer is waiting alone and have nothing to do, especially in an unfamiliar facility, the
feeling of boring, uncertain about waiting time, stress and anxiety will be increasingly enlarged with
time passing. Queuing also seems more burdensome if people feel physically uncomfortable.
Moreover, because of a fear of been forgotten , the senses of get started of customers are fervent. It is
claimed that the anxiety level is much higher while waiting to be served than it is while being served,
even though the latter queuing will be longer (Lovelock Wirtz, 2011, p.267; Maister, 1985).
Unpleasant waiting experience might accompany with customers go through the whole service
process, which could lower the overall evaluation of service quality easily. Not only the queuing
experience, a number of studies also investigated that queuing time in a service organization
significantly influences consumer satisfaction. In general, increasing in waiting time is associated with
decreasing in customer satisfaction (Katz, M.Larson C.Larson, 1991). The graph (Dube, Renaghan
Miller, 1994) below shows the effect of waiting time on customer satisfaction in restaurant industry,
and suggests that most consumers do not satisfied if the waiting time is longer than 8 minutes. In
addition, another study (Jones Dent, 1994) examined that 70% of respondents considered waiting time

Equal Wage Essay
Despite the fact that the Equal Pay Act has been law since 1963, many problems inevitably arise in the
administration of equal pay laws (Fisher). It has been estimated that at this current slow rate of
progression in closing the gender pay gap it will be 2068 by the time men and women s wages are
equalized. It is clear that the business case, as well as the legislative case, has a significant role to play
(Commission Policy Report). There are some factors which stop or slow equal pay for genders. These
are behavioral factors, corporate culture and policies, human resource practices and social and
environmental factors (Giapponi and McEvoy, 2006).
Behavioral factors are related with lack of awareness of pay inequity. Women do not aware or ... Show

Some organizations are unwilling to show their reward systems and pay policies (Lawler, 1995).
Many Human Resources professionals believe gender pay gaps to be resolvable through the
monitoring of pay levels and communication (Report on Salary Surveys).Greater pay transparency has
been a great benefit to the board, employees and managers as they now know what is happening
across the business and they are able to confidently justify their actions (Commission Policy
Report). All market related supplements are recorded and reviewed separately from basic salary to
ensure openness and transparency. Regular research market rates within the various labor markets in
which they operate is undertaken improving transparency would also help to improve talent
development, as employees would be able to see what they could earn if they wanted to move to
another division and upgrade their skill set. (Commission Policy Report).
Human resources practices are related with the pay of new hires on their salary history, rather than on
responsibility and experience, also perpetuates the wage gap. (Human Resource Management
Department Report). When increases in salary for promotions are based on current salary, women
have difficulty catching up to their male counterparts. According to the National Committee on Pay

Similarities Between Pyle And Fowler In The Quiet American
In The Quiet American, Pyle and Fowler are the main characters, and have many similarities, as well
as differences. Pyle, whose job is unknown in the portion of the book in focus, has been in Vietnam
for around two years, and has recently arrived in the flashback, portion of the book. On the contrary,
Fowler is a reporter who has been in Vietnam for many years, and even says he does not want to leave.
Pyle and Fowler know each other very well in the book, as when asked if it is Pyle who is knocking at
the door replies It s not his knock. This shows that Pyle and Fowler have known each other for at least
a year or so, and that they either live together, or that Pyle frequently visits. However, Greene quickly

United Way Of El Paso
United Way is a non profit organization that helps improve the livelihood in local communities. I have
been fortunate enough to see the impact United has provided from community donations and its
funded agencies in El Paso. Hegel developed the Systems Theory in the 18th century and the best way
to describe the organizations audience is in comparison to the organizations structure and function.
University of Twente (2016) believes communication occurs among interdependent units that work
together to adapt to an ever changing environment. United Way of El Paso County strives address
issues in areas of education, homelessness, and economical stability. I will talk about how the
organization addresses these issues to their donors, agencies, and the families they support. The
organizations objective is to target multiple audiences and the programs structure is important to
separate the different groups they support. The United Way is a non profit organization that has a team
that works hard to find donors for the list of agencies they support. Typically a non profit organization
choses agencies that get little to no help from the local government. United Way (2016) This is
accomplished by achieving measurable results through strategies that focus on community systems
and resources and by focusing on funding programs that achieve outcomes in three select impact
areas: Education, Basic Needs, and Income. In most cases United Way reaches out to local businesses

Does Smell Affect The Taste Of The Ketchup
The hypothesis, If the smell is cinnamon then the taste of the ketchup will decrease. The science fair
idea was to see if the smell affects taste; when people breathe in and eat at the same time would the
smell have any effect on the taste of the food. If something smells bad but taste good would the smell
affect the taste. This project is interesting because it is seeing if smell would affect the taste of foods.
If someone was to go without tastes buds would they still be able to taste it in a different way. What is
hoped to be achieved in the project is to see if smell affects taste at all or just a little bit to weather

Management Accounting Essay
The last several decades have been a turbulent period for management accounting in the United States.
Many U.S. businesses failed in the international market, and the management accounting profession
recognized that some of the blame rests upon shortcomings in the information provided to managers.
A continuous flow of articles dating back to the mid 1980 s such as Kaplan (1986) or Chalos and
Bader (1986) has criticized contemporary management accounting systems. On the other hand, Reider
and Saunders (1988) offered a defense of contemporary management accounting methods asserting
that the methods are adequate but have not been used appropriately.
Management accounting plays a crucial role in manufacturing competitiveness by supplying ... Show

In the past, the bases used for allocating overhead were either volume driven, such as direct labor
hours and machine hours, or financial measures, such as direct labor costs and raw materials costs.
These allocation bases are simple and easy to use since the information is readily available either from
production or accounting reports, but they often result in mis measurement of costs.
As firms moved from labor driven manufacturing to automated manufacturing, old allocation bases
proved even more inaccurate (Horngren et al., 1999). Products were either under or over costed
because the bases used did not accurately reflect the activities consumed by the product. Another
problem was that the bases did not accurately reflect the overhead triggered by either batches or
product lines (Johnson, 1988), nor were all the production costs driven by these bases.
Another source of inaccurate costing has been the mis measurement or exclusion of relevant costs
(Weisman, 1991). Since business firms are subject to a multitude of externally mandated accounting
and reporting requirements (e.g., pronouncements of the SEC, FASB, GASB, IRS), management
accounting has used these same costs to make business decisions. Though these costs satisfy external
reporting purposes, they are incomplete for many internal purposes. For example, R amp;D,
distribution, and advertising costs are not considered as product costs for external reporting purposes
and are therefore often erroneously

Capital Punishment Of The United States
Capital punishment in United States also titled as decease penalty, which is a permitted verdict in

the amendment of the eight to intensified killings committed by psychologically competent people.
Capital punishment existed a consequence for numerous misdemeanors under English mutual
regulation, and it was imposed in entire of the early US colonies preceding to the Declaration of
Independence. The procedures of execution and the misconducts subject to the decease consequence
diverge by state and have reformed over period.
Numerous regions have never had capital penance, one of the example that Michigan, which

fourth part of the Constitution forbids any regulation that provides the consequence of the death. Early
in the 21 century, a lawful amendment projected to permit capital punishment in particular situations

and a public inventiveness failed to meet enough signatures. The binary latest states, Hawaii and
Alaska, eliminated the decease disadvantage prior to statehood.
Within the thirty one states that don t officially prohibit the death penalty, additional three states haven

The Importance Of Preterm Birth
Preterm birth is babies who are born closer to 32 to 34 weeks. It is a major challenge for women that
give birth between to 32 to 34 weeks, risking infants with disability and health problems causing life
or death. Preterm birth not only affects infants, but families too. Families who need to provide care for
their infants need to be prepared. Infants spend several months in the hospital to be checked on for
respiratory distress syndrome and brain development. Preterm birth is causing long term health
problems for premature babies than full born babies.

Preterm birth is the leading cause of newborn death. Advances in technology, neonatal care and
treatments for preterm babies have greatly increased the chances for survival. Babies born before 37
weeks are still vulnerable to increased risk for death and to many short and long term effects of
premature birth. Premature babies may have trouble breathing due to immature respiratory system. If
the baby s lungs lacks of respiration from the lungs that can t expand , then he or she may develop
respiratory distress syndrome because the lungs can t expand and contract normally. Therefore heart
problems can be another short term disease for premature babies. The most common heart problem are
patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and low blood pressure. PDA is a persistent opening between two
major blood vessels leading from the heart. This heart defect often closes on its own, left untreated it
can cause too much blood to flow through the heart and cause heart failure. Brain problems for

The Marketing Mix Of Starbucks
II) Marketing Mix
The marketing mix is the set of tactical marketing tools that the firm blends to produce the response it
wants in the target market. It consists of everything the firm can do to influence the demand for its
products (Kotler et al., 2013, p.53). Its main characteristics can be categorised into a 4Ps framework.
a) Product
Starbucks was initially known as a premium coffee chain for high standard coffee lovers. However,
throughout the years and the fierce competition, Starbucks has expanded its product portfolio to match
new customer needs. They introduced the brands Tazo Tea and Fizzio offering caffeine free
handcrafted sodas (Mintel, 2014). They also launched innovative beverages like the Frappuccino, and
created an extensive food menu. In fact, a study has shown that around 22% of hot drink purchasers
were very interested in seeing baked goods on the menu of coffee shops (Mintel, 2014). They also do
their best to introduce seasonal offerings, such as the gingerbread for Christmas (Erin, 2010). They
now host 8 main categories of drinks and 7 of food to attract a wider range of consumers (i.e. the non
coffee lovers). Nevertheless, beverages still account for 60% of sales in the store (Statista, 2015).
Beyond serving drinks and food, Starbucks enables its customers to purchase Starbucks coffee and
cappuccino makers, to extend the Starbucks experience at home, in a Starbucks mug. Each product is
unique since the barista personalises it with the

Cristina Garcia s Dreaming in Cuban Essay
Cristina Garcia s Dreaming in Cuban tells the story about three generations of a Cuban family and
their different views provoked by the Cuban revolution. Though part of the same family, an outsider
might classify them as adversaries judging by relationships between one another, the exiled family
members, and the differentiations between political views. Although all of these central themes
reoccur over and over throughout the narrative, family relationships lie at the heart of the tale. The
relationships between these Cuban family members are for the most part ruptured by any or a
combination of the above themes. Every individual relationship mentioned in the book consists of at
least one direct family member of Celia del Pino. Celia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

therefore, throughout her life Lourdes feels a lingering resentment, even though the acts by Celia were

embarrassed and ashamed of what her mother was and is unwillingly to forgive her. Lourdes claimed
her mother was dead to garner pity from strangers so they would buy her sweets, and secretly wished

The Second Amendment Of United States Constitution
Introduction
The second amendment of United States constitution said A well regulated militia, being necessary to
the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed . This
amendment was embraced on December 15, 1791, taking in consideration that American citizens have
a natural right to self defense and they can help to accomplish the following purposes:
Permitting the people to organize a militia system
Contributing in law enforcement
Deterring tyrannical government
Repelling invasion
Suppressing insurrection, allegedly including slave revolts
Nowadays it is not necessary that us citizens pursuit these purposes because some of them are
obsolete, the militia disappear long time ago and there are governmental organizations and
departments which are in charge to accomplish the available purposes and guaranty the security of us
citizens. Navy, Army and FBI lookout for the national security and Police and Firemen departments

developed nations. Louisiana State, which has the most permissible weapon laws, show the highest

The Problem of Definition Analysis
Through Socrates search of wisdom, he came across a young man named Euthyphro. Socrates
discovered that Euthyphro was going to try and prosecute his father in court after finding out his father
let a man die in a ditch to the elements. Socrates and Euthyphro engaged in a conversation discussing
the meaning of piety and what it means to be pious. As Euthyphro defines piety, Socrates has an issue
with the explanation he is being given and starts helping to guide Euthyphro to answer the question in
the right manor. Throughout this text, Euthyphro and Socrates try to answer one question; what is
Piety? Euthyphro and Socrates meet outside of the king archon s court and Socrates questions
Euthyphro as to why he is there. Euthyphro explained to Socrates that he is going to try to prosecute
his father for murder after his father left a worker to die because the worker murdered somebody. In
doing this, Euthyphro is going against what most people consider to be pious. Socrates is intrigued at
Euthyphro s actions and wants to know more I adjure you to tell me the nature of piety and impiety,

Pros And Cons Of School Blocking Students
Professor Sam Wineburg of Stanford University adamantly opposes the practice of schools blocking
students from certain websites and databases such as Wikipedia, Twitter, and Instagram. Dr. Wineburg
suggests that if students only have access to information chosen and filtered by the institution, their
ability to choose what to believe, and how to think will not develop. If students do not have access to
sites such as Wikipedia, once they are able to browse freely, they will be unable to tell what is reliable.
By imposing these restrictions, schools are failing to allow students to think freely. More importantly,
they are depriving students of furthering their intelligence by choosing themselves what information is
valid and what is not. These constraints essentially tell students what to believe; therefore, once they
go beyond classroom doors and browse freely, they will be incapable of finding sources on their own.
Furthermore, blocking sites only worsens the spread of fake news, since students believe everything
they read. I agree with Dr. Wineburg in that schools should not block certain websites. Blocking
students from sources or only allowing certain online databases not only limits students ability to
expand their knowledge, but harms their free thinking and forces them to believe the information
placed in front of them, ultimately contributing to students spreading fake news.
Dr. Wineburg s opposition to schools blocking students from unvetted websites is backed by

purposes as well (Standage,46). In Assyria, wine became apart of an elaborate social ritual. The book
says wine and it s associated drinking paraphernalia became emblems of power. Prosperity, and

Cervical Cancer Case Study
For the given assignment, I chose Cervical Cancer as the health outcome and the screening tests
recommended by the USPSTF for the age group of 30 to 65. Cervical cancer is a type of cancer
arising from the cervix. In more than 90% of the cases HPV infection is involved in the development
of the disease. The current annual incidence rate for the disease is 6.6 cases per 100,000 women, and
the age adjusted mortality rate is 2.4 deaths per 100,000 (for 2003 to 2007). Five year survival rates in
the United States are 68%. Worldwide, it is the fourth most common cause of death from cancer in
women. The risk factors associated with cervical cancer include smoking, HIV infection, using birth
control pills for long time etc.
Benefits and Harms of screening test:
According to a study, screening of population for cervical cancer has reduced cervical cancer rates by
60% to 90% within 3 years of its implementation, thus reducing mortality and morbidity associated
with the disease.
For women belonging to the age group of 30 to 65 years, USPSTF recommends screening tests to be
done by combination of cytology and pap smear once every 5 years. It is beneficial for women to
undergo co testing of cytology with Pap smear test because it would increase the screening interval.

Off Road Driving Research Paper
Many of us have grown up in the country where off road driving is not just a past time, but a great
way to spend time with family and friends. Having mud bogging trucks to tear through off road
obstacles, are some of the best times ever spent off road. In order to successfully navigate areas, a well
equipped rig is essential. Starting with tires, the best kinds of tires are ones that can handle deep holes
filled with all kinds of muck. The more aggressive the tread the better, by using tread patterns that are

that means time for a new motor, a good way to prevent this from happening is to install a snorkel
system that will allow the intake to breathe in fresh air. If the snorkel system is out of the question,
another alternative is to modify the intake to receive air from inside the cab of the rig. Along with
adding a breather system, another consideration is securing the radiator. A lot of owners move their

that they consume. That is why new brands have to be very persuasive and incentive by proposing
samples, coupons etc.
The french market is particular concerning the way it strives to inform customers. There are a lot of
regulations and legal rules that have to be respected in order to communicate. For example, it is
forbidden to advertise cigarettes or books everywhere, and movies anywhere else other than on a
poster. Nevertheless, the french population has a good access to the traditional media and half of the
population uses internet at least once a day . The literacy rate is close to 100% and the country is
ranked 16 worldwide according to the Human Development Index (HDI) . In others words, those
capacities prevent any difficulties in making the message reach the consumers.
ATTITUDE TOWARD MARKETING/CONSUMERISM

Friedrich Nietzsche s The Antichrist
Despite the title, Friedrich Nietzsche s book The Antichrist is anything but contrary to the teachings of
Jesus Christ as best understood in the Synoptic Gospels. In fact, Nietzsche s project in this work, if I
do dare to interpret Nietzsche, is to reveal the complete silliness of ambiguous, vague, absolutely non
empirical concepts; specifically, concepts that create values . In fact, Nietzsche s purpose in writing
this book is to reveal those who have abused the transcendental in order to manipulate and control
those that are unable to understand, or wish not to understand, the improbability of such kinds of
divine revelation. In short, ever since the life if the man known as Jesus Christ, so called christians
have manipulated his teachings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche claims that the Christian religion has, for a very long time, been used as a means to confuse
and dismiss reality. Instead, priests have been suggesting vague concepts such as judgement , salvation
, faith , sin , etc. in order to freely command whatever values they see fit. The priests, in Nietzsche s
view, have been using the transcendental and unfalsifiable realm of the religious in order to create
selfishly motivated lies for the gain of power. The poor masses have been following this bunch of lies
because that they are deceived in thinking that they will themselves gain more power by the way of
God offering equality and eternal life. However, in all actuality, the world is not equal and these
masses are being made to suffer an even greater deal than necessary for the sake of a filthy religious
lie. Nietzsche suggests that we, instead, abandon these lies and leave the will of God in the past for a
more happy future. Instead, Nietzsche offers, we can come to terms with reality and authentically seek
to fulfill our deepest desires; i.e. the natural values attributed to our psyche by the way of the process

Life And Life Of Prison
Twenty years to life in prison, this is what I woke up to one cold December morning. I had been
falsely accused of a crime. It all started a couple of weeks ago. I had gone to the local gas station to
pick up some groceries to fix my family a surprise breakfast. I had planned to go home and fix them
eggs, bacon, waffles, and grits. It would have been perfect, just to have a family meal. I had arrived at
the gas station and proceeded to go into the store to get the groceries that I needed. All of sudden a
man with the gun entered the store. He told the man to give him all the money in the cash register as
he shot at some bottles behind the counter. After the clerk had finished loading the bag, he threw it on

The judge read to me the accusation that were made against me, and asked for the evidence to be
presented. They had taken the store s surveillance videos, and said that they had video evidence of
what had happened. The judge then asked the cop to play the video, but there was a problem. The
video had been encrypted with a password, and without the password, the video could not be watched.
The judge ruled that this evidence was irrelevant until it could be used. The judge asked if there was
any evidence to be presented. They had one more witness that went to the stand. The other attorney
asked what he remembered about the morning of December 3, 2034. He said that he remembered
being in the gas station, and seeing me beside the body (8th amendment) When I was back in the jail
cell, I decided to ask him what the bail had been set at. He said that there was no bail. He told me that
I had been indicted, and I would be going to my arraignment next. I just kept thinking of my family,
and that I had to do everything in my power to get out of here. I asked the cop also if someone had
picked up my car.(4th amendment) He said it can be picked up as soon as it has been searched. I
immediately asked if there was a warrant. He said that there was, and to get some sleep. He said that
tomorrow would be a long day. The next morning they came to me and wanted to make a deal. They
said just plead guilty, and they would let me off with second

Treasure Island is a story about adventure. However it encompasses the theme of Independency and
maturing. Jim is a young boy who is in the middle of becoming a Independent and mature adult. He
has developed throughout the adventure and has turned into a role model for the others around him.
He is very courageous and has developed mature habits as the book progresses top the end.
The uselessness of Wealth
Treasure Island is the story of a voyage in which the pirates tend to get rich. Many of the pirates on the
boat were very poor. The treasure was a motive for them throughout the whole book. The pirates and
crew desired wealth and were extremely greedy. The theme of uselessness of wealth is one that
constantly reappears throughout the whole book. Stevenson portraits this when the pirates constantly
switch sides, betrayed each other, and do very violent and uncivil things just to get to the treasure.
Stevenson portraits the uselessness of desire when the pirates discover that the treasure map leads

Rational Appeasement
Rational Appeasement
Daniel Treisman
Abstract Since Munich, appeasement a policy of making unilateral concessions in the hope of
avoiding conflict has been considered a disastrous strategy+ Conceding to one adversary is thought to
undermine the conceder s reputation for resolve, provoking additional challenges+ Kreps, Wilson,
Milgrom, and Roberts formalized this logic in their 1982 solutions to the chain store paradox+ I show
with a series of models that if a state faces multiple challenges and has limited resources, the
presumption against appeasement breaks down: appeasing in one arena may then be vital to conserve

Fruit In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Fruit as a Vessel in the Goblin Market
Christina Rossetti s poem, Goblin Market, centers around two sisters, Lizzie and Laura, who become
entangled in the schemes of fruit selling goblin men. The goblins attempt to soil the women s purity
with delectable treats, but fail as a result of the strong will and love of the sisters. One could assume
that the fruit, which causes premature death and loss of passion in anyone who eats it, would be the
focal point of interpretation; it is the forbidden fruit that calls to sinners and causes a fall from grace,
or the manifestation of forbidden sexuality in a conservative period. However, this interpretation fails
to see beyond the obvious and lacks depth when considering all of the Goblin Market s ... Show more

Laura and Lizzie are very much opposites, or more so complementaries, as deduced by their close
relationship and polar personalities. Laura looks and listens, which puts her at risk of the goblins,
while Lizzie physically shuts her eyes and ears as to not fall victim to the goblin cry. In this way, the
goblins are able to appeal to Laura by singing a very descriptive and decadent song about all their
eccentric fruit. The song is meant to be an advertisement that Laura cannot resist because her nature is
to be curious, and she relies on her hearing and sight to feed her decisions. This is a key element to the
poem, that Laura heavily relies on her senses while Lizzie does not, following that Lizzie could run

The Rite of Spring
Dance Critique: The Rite of Spring
The Rite of Spring was choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky, a Russian dancer and choreographer. He
joined The Imperial School of Ballet in 1900 and was later the lead dancer of the Ballet Russes. He
eventually choreographed many works, one of them being Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring)
in 1913. He exceeded the limits of traditional ballet and the Rite was an example of this. In 1919 he
was diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent the rest of his life in and out of hospitals until he died in
London on April 8, 1950. The Rite of Spring was performed by Sergei Diaghilev s Ballet Russes on
May 29th, 1913 at the Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris. It was later remade by the Joffrey Ballet

I think Nijinsky decided to use the circle dancing as his spatial configuration because the circles
allowed for more use of the stage and it symbolizes the rituals of natives are all connected during their
celebrations and sacrifices. By having the males and females separated Nijinsky made a strong
statement that I believe is that the only thing that brings the sexes together is their important ritual of
sacrifice. For most of the performance, the dancers were in unison. This helps the audience capture
everything that is occurring. It allows the crowd to focus their attention on the important aspect of the
performance instead of trying to go back and forth from one side of the stage to another. The
spectators can also appreciate the movement of the dancers more if they are in unison. It also helped
Nijinsky show what he felt was important in the performance if everyone was doing the same thing.
There were some instances that the dancers were so n sync that they looked like robots. The moves
that they made seemed simples, for example, their stomping didn t seem complicated but to do it at the
same time looked very complex and harder. Najinsky showed in The Rite of Spring that these
performances could be about normal people and their traditions instead of fantasy. The dancers were
hunched over and close to the ground and loose with their bodies which is more

Analysis Of Wood Lab
In our density of wood lab, we were interested in learning more about densities of wood, how to
measure density, the difference between softwoods and hardwoods, and how density and strength are
related. In this lab, we utilized 10 different samples of wood blocks. By measuring each sample s
Volume (Length x Width x Height) and mass, we were able to determine each sample s density (Mass

By measuring the sample s density and then determining what the sample was, we were able to
observe the differences in the wood including color, grain, texture, and weight and its effects on the
density of wood. Additionally, this lab gave us a better understanding of why it is important to
understand wood density. When building a home or another woodworking project you want to be
aware of the type of wood you are using and its density. If you are building a home or a piece of
furniture you are going to need a wood that is strong and will last. Therefore, you will know you will
need a dense wood like oak. But if you are creating a decorative, lightweight art piece you may want a
less dense wood like Lati. It was interesting to see in this lab, that even though some samples were
larger in size than other they still weighed less than the smaller, denser wood samples. This shows that
even though you may have the right size wood, it may not be the correct density to complete the

Economic Contribution of Migrant Workers in Bangladesh
Introduction Bangladesh is located in South Asia. It is the seventh most populous country in the world
and is mostly densely inhabited. The poverty level, however, has fallen by more than 20%, helped by
its prominent agricultural sector. The Bangladeshi economy is helped by its big garment sector, which
contributes more than two thirds of the country s trade. The major challenge to prosperous growth is
the vulnerability of the land to cyclones and floods. However, even with such challenges, Bangladesh
has experienced a growth rate of 5% since 1990. This growth has been helped by remittances from

Minnie s Desolation in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers
Susan Glaspell, writer of the short story A Jury of Her Peers details the isolated rural farm house of
Minnie Wright and Mr.Wright. Glaspell advocates for the equality of woman and hopes to warn the
readers of the difference between the law and what is actually right. She conveys the meaning of her
theme by describing a case of a deprived woman, Minnie, who is absolutely isolated from any other
kind of companionship except for her husband s, which is like a raw hard wind that gets to the bone.
(Glaspell 198) Although Minnie isn t present at the time of the investigation, the setting of her house
lets the readers know some of the various kinds of isolation she deals with for twenty years before
being sent to jail. The different kinds of isolation that Minnie experiences are symbolized in the objects
and information Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters share and discover while being at the scene of the incident.
Minnie s youthful life was the complete opposite to her current life. Mrs. Hale spoke of her youth and
said she used to wear pretty clothes and be lively when she was Minnie Foster. (Glaspell 195) But now
all Minnie wears is a shabby black shirt that bore the marks of much making over along with the same
gray shawl . (Glaspell 195) Minnie s lively spirit and style of clothing evoke a stage in her life where
she was joyful and free from a man who didn t represent her. However, now that she bears her
husbands last name, Minnie Wright wears shabby dull clothes that

Perioperative Observation
Perioperative Observation Paper
During my observation, I followed the patient from her preparation of surgery, into the operating
room, to recovery. I gain insight on what happens during surgeries from nurses, surgeons, and other
hospital staff. This experience was much different than any other clinical I have gone to. After having
first hand experience, I now know that surgery is nothing like what is portrayed on television.
Background Inquiry
The procedure that I observed was a total knee replacement of the left knee, and it was for a patient
who was suffering from osteoarthritis. The only allergy that this patient had was to quinidine, an
antiarrhythmic agent and anti parasite agent, irrelevant to her osteoarthritis. Other than osteoarthritis,
this patient was generally healthy and did not have any other health conditions or comorbidities that
would impact this surgery or any other activities of daily living.
The Pathophysiology The knee is a hinge joint which is needed for movement. The joint is made by
the femur and the tibia, and also contains the patella which acts as a shield for the joint. In knees with
osteoarthritis, the cartilage on the ends of the bones deteriorates, causing the bones to rub against each
other. X rays can be used for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis; the images would reveal damage and
other changes related to osteoarthritis. With osteoarthritis of the knees, the patient would experience
progressively increasing pain, stiffness, and they would

Psychodynamic Approaches And The Psychodynamic Approach
The purpose of understanding and utilizing a variety of psychodynamic approaches is for the
humanistic well being, in connection with the client using a client centered therapeutic approach. The
reason for using a psychodynamic approach is unveiling the conscious and unconscious mind, from
the client s emotional state of mind. The psychodynamic approach focuses on the beginning stages of
the clients childhood years, typically analyzing events from birth breaking from six years old. The
human mind unconscious and conscious state determines who we are and how we will be from our
past carrying over to our present, and dictating our future. Henceforth, the effects of our state of mind
come from past events in our subconscious mind, which plays a major role in our adult life. As an
illustration, Sigmund Fraud, a psychologist theoretical ordained the importance of childhood events,
which play a major part in our daily lives. The definition of psychodynamic approach is unconscious
thoughts, pressures of society, family events, people s childhood event, and biological forces. A
professional person in the area of psychology must be in tune, with the client using empathy and code
of ethics. For example, the theories are psychoanalysis, analytical, or individual approach which deals
with the person s state of well being.
Second, the therapeutic sides explore a ray of techniques from a psychodynamic approach, with an
umbrella for therapeutic approaches using Psychoanalysis,

Social Changes During The Meiji Restoration Of Japan
Introduction
The Meiji Restoration, a significant era in Japanese history, saw the abolishment of the feudal system
of the Tokagawa period. With this, many social changes occurred which assisted in the modernisation
of Japan and its culture. The Tokugawa period consisted of many social groups who were ordered in
what was considered powerful to powerless. When the Meiji era began, many changes occurred which
affected Japan s social structure and foreign relationships. Major changes occurred in the roles of the
Emperor, Samurai and Peasants during the Meiji period and the modernisation also assisted in
fundamental changes such as diet, clothing and education.
Japan s feudal system in the late Tokugawa period
During the late Tokugawa period, with feudalism in place, there were different classes which all had
distinct roles. Feudalism was the social system in which people were given protection in return for
loyalty. (http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com) At the top of the social hierarchy was the

symbolised the power of the Samurai. The Samurai were declared to retire their armed

peasants had the advantage of marrying outside of their social class. The Meiji period also allowed the

Responses to stressors present different impacts on each individual. Stressors have a physical and
psychological effect on people although some people seem to be much less effected by stress being
able to withstand high levels of stress almost as if there daily lives depend on it. Even though it is
accepted stress is with us from are waking moment to the minute we sleep, almost all individuals
through time suffer physical or psychological illness. Individual responses to stress have been put into

Here we will look at the different approaches plus the strengths and weaknesses of these methods.
PHYSICAL METHOD OF STRESS MANAGEMENT.
Drugs.
Strengths.
Prescribed drug treatment seems to be the strongest source of psychological stress control. Anti
depressants and BZs are prescribed to reduce the feelings of anxiety or depression induced through
stress induced illness. The effect of the drugs is simple; they suitably block or reduce the activity of
the brains neurotransmitter for release of serotonin, or directly reduce activity in the pathways leading
to the nervous system around the body, not allowing blood pressure or the heart rate to rise, as it is
these bodily systems that influence the feelings of anxiety. Once blocked or suppressed the individual
when faced with a stressor will feel much calmer and able to cope with the unwanted stressor
presented to them.
Weaknesses.
All drugs present side effects which are usually unpleasant. Most common side effects are nausea,
dizziness and stomach upset. Other side effects experienced are drowsiness and subdued awareness,
these are more serious side effects which can cause a threat to personal safety whilst driving or if you
are in a job that requires you to operate machinery. Drugs only treat the physical feelings experienced
from stress and not the psychological cause so also

Abstinence-Only vs. Comprehensive Sex Education Essay
Since the HIV/AIDS epidemic began in the U.S. in the early 1980s the issue of sex education for
American youth has had the attention of the nation. There are about 400,000 teen births every year in
the U.S, with about 9 billion in associated public costs. STI contraction in general, as well as teen
pregnancy, have put the subject even more so on the forefront of the nation s leading issues. The
approach and method for proper and effective sex education has been hotly debated. Some believe that
teaching abstinence only until marriage is the best method while others believe that a more
comprehensive approach, which includes abstinence promotion as well as contraceptive information,
is necessary. Abstinence only program curriculums disregard ... Show more content on

Other supporters think that sex education should not deviate from other teachings of other health
curricula such as drunk driving, tobacco use, drug use, alcohol consumption, gun use, fighting; all
things which are taught to just not do (Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). They believe that it is
the responsibility of a public institution which serves kids to teach them risk avoidance rather than
harm reduction ( WebMD: Better Information. Better Health ). Many advocates for abstinence only
education believe that its message is strongly intertwined with traditional values and religious faith;
both of which they claim to have measurable influence in preventing teens from having sex (Collins,
Alagira, and Summers 12 13). Christian conservative women believe that comprehensive sex
education would encourage sexual activity and lesbianism, as well as undercut marriage and create
social decay (Fields 24). Proponents for abstinence only education believe that the abstinence only
message has contributed to the decline of adolescent sexual activity as well as negative related
outcomes. In the 1990s there was a decrease in adolescent pregnancy, birth and abortion rates. These
proponents attribute these declining statistics to the abstinence only message and claim that the
declines cannot be accredited to increased

Utopia In John Foster s Story The Machine Stops
In Fosters story The Machine Stops he displays two points of view into the utopian society ruled by
the machine, which prove Rothstein s Idea that one man s utopia is another man s dystopia. The first
character in his story, Vashti, Is content with her life and would consider society close to a utopia. The
second character, Kuno, Vashti s son, is not as pleased with his situation. The clashing opinions give
the reader a lot to think about when considering Rothstein s idea.
Vashti, the woman at the beginning of the story, lives out her days as many other people of this time
do, sitting alone in an arm chair in the middle of their room. Everything is brought to her at a moment
s notice, which makes moving from her spot a seemingly pointless thing to do. For her, everything is
good enough . When she refers to the way the machine cannot display the emotions of another, while
talking with her son, she disregards the imperfection saying that the idea this communication is an
idea that was good enough for all practical purposes. She goes on to say in her narration that
something good enough had long since been accepted by our race. For her, good enough is perfect. ...

  • 2. Essay about Service Marketing Introduction In an ideal situation, customers would not have to wait for the delivery of products and services. However, in the real world, organizations cannot always match exact capability and demand; therefore, waiting is frequently inevitable while purchasing, especially in service marketing, as service firms can barely inventory their stock for sale at a later date (Lovelock, 1992, p.154). In general, waiting in lines known as queuing , happens when the number of customers arrive at a facility exceeds the capability of the system to serve them (Lovelock Wirtz, 2011, p.260). Basically, this essay will state the relationship between queuing and customer satisfaction, as well as relationship between customer satisfaction and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the consumer is waiting alone and have nothing to do, especially in an unfamiliar facility, the feeling of boring, uncertain about waiting time, stress and anxiety will be increasingly enlarged with time passing. Queuing also seems more burdensome if people feel physically uncomfortable. Moreover, because of a fear of been forgotten , the senses of get started of customers are fervent. It is claimed that the anxiety level is much higher while waiting to be served than it is while being served, even though the latter queuing will be longer (Lovelock Wirtz, 2011, p.267; Maister, 1985). Unpleasant waiting experience might accompany with customers go through the whole service process, which could lower the overall evaluation of service quality easily. Not only the queuing experience, a number of studies also investigated that queuing time in a service organization significantly influences consumer satisfaction. In general, increasing in waiting time is associated with decreasing in customer satisfaction (Katz, M.Larson C.Larson, 1991). The graph (Dube, Renaghan Miller, 1994) below shows the effect of waiting time on customer satisfaction in restaurant industry, and suggests that most consumers do not satisfied if the waiting time is longer than 8 minutes. • 3. Equal Wage Essay Despite the fact that the Equal Pay Act has been law since 1963, many problems inevitably arise in the administration of equal pay laws (Fisher). It has been estimated that at this current slow rate of progression in closing the gender pay gap it will be 2068 by the time men and women s wages are equalized. It is clear that the business case, as well as the legislative case, has a significant role to play (Commission Policy Report). There are some factors which stop or slow equal pay for genders. These are behavioral factors, corporate culture and policies, human resource practices and social and environmental factors (Giapponi and McEvoy, 2006). Behavioral factors are related with lack of awareness of pay inequity. Women do not aware or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some organizations are unwilling to show their reward systems and pay policies (Lawler, 1995). Many Human Resources professionals believe gender pay gaps to be resolvable through the monitoring of pay levels and communication (Report on Salary Surveys).Greater pay transparency has been a great benefit to the board, employees and managers as they now know what is happening across the business and they are able to confidently justify their actions (Commission Policy Report). All market related supplements are recorded and reviewed separately from basic salary to ensure openness and transparency. Regular research market rates within the various labor markets in which they operate is undertaken improving transparency would also help to improve talent development, as employees would be able to see what they could earn if they wanted to move to another division and upgrade their skill set. Pyle, whose job is unknown in the portion of the book in focus, has been in Vietnam for around two years, and has recently arrived in the flashback, portion of the book. On the contrary, Fowler is a reporter who has been in Vietnam for many years, and even says he does not want to leave. Pyle and Fowler know each other very well in the book, as when asked if it is Pyle who is knocking at the door replies It s not his knock. • 5. United Way Of El Paso United Way is a non profit organization that helps improve the livelihood in local communities. I have been fortunate enough to see the impact United has provided from community donations and its funded agencies in El Paso. Hegel developed the Systems Theory in the 18th century and the best way to describe the organizations audience is in comparison to the organizations structure and function. University of Twente (2016) believes communication occurs among interdependent units that work together to adapt to an ever changing environment. United Way of El Paso County strives address issues in areas of education, homelessness, and economical stability. I will talk about how the organization addresses these issues to their donors, agencies, and the families they support. The organizations objective is to target multiple audiences and the programs structure is important to separate the different groups they support. The United Way is a non profit organization that has a team that works hard to find donors for the list of agencies they support. Typically a non profit organization choses agencies that get little to no help from the local government. United Way (2016) This is accomplished by achieving measurable results through strategies that focus on community systems and resources and by focusing on funding programs that achieve outcomes in three select impact areas: Education, Basic Needs, and Income. • 6. Does Smell Affect The Taste Of The Ketchup The hypothesis, If the smell is cinnamon then the taste of the ketchup will decrease. The science fair idea was to see if the smell affects taste; when people breathe in and eat at the same time would the smell have any effect on the taste of the food. If something smells bad but taste good would the smell affect the taste. This project is interesting because it is seeing if smell would affect the taste of foods. If someone was to go without tastes buds would they still be able to taste it in a different way. • 7. Management Accounting Essay The last several decades have been a turbulent period for management accounting in the United States. Many U.S. businesses failed in the international market, and the management accounting profession recognized that some of the blame rests upon shortcomings in the information provided to managers. A continuous flow of articles dating back to the mid 1980 s such as Kaplan (1986) or Chalos and Bader (1986) has criticized contemporary management accounting systems. On the other hand, Reider and Saunders (1988) offered a defense of contemporary management accounting methods asserting that the methods are adequate but have not been used appropriately. Management accounting plays a crucial role in manufacturing competitiveness by supplying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the past, the bases used for allocating overhead were either volume driven, such as direct labor hours and machine hours, or financial measures, such as direct labor costs and raw materials costs. These allocation bases are simple and easy to use since the information is readily available either from production or accounting reports, but they often result in mis measurement of costs. As firms moved from labor driven manufacturing to automated manufacturing, old allocation bases proved even more inaccurate (Horngren et al., 1999). Products were either under or over costed because the bases used did not accurately reflect the activities consumed by the product. Another problem was that the bases did not accurately reflect the overhead triggered by either batches or product lines (Johnson, 1988), nor were all the production costs driven by these bases. Another source of inaccurate costing has been the mis measurement or exclusion of relevant costs (Weisman, 1991). Since business firms are subject to a multitude of externally mandated accounting and reporting requirements (e.g., pronouncements of the SEC, FASB, GASB, IRS), management accounting has used these same costs to make business decisions. Though these costs satisfy external reporting purposes, they are incomplete for many internal purposes. For example, R amp;D, distribution, and advertising costs are not considered as product costs for external reporting purposes and are therefore often erroneously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Capital Punishment Of The United States Capital punishment in United States also titled as decease penalty, which is a permitted verdict in thirty one states and the American civilian and services lawful systems. Its application is restricted by the amendment of the eight to intensified killings committed by psychologically competent people. Capital punishment existed a consequence for numerous misdemeanors under English mutual regulation, and it was imposed in entire of the early US colonies preceding to the Declaration of Independence. The procedures of execution and the misconducts subject to the decease consequence diverge by state and have reformed over period. Numerous regions have never had capital penance, one of the example that Michigan, which eradicated it soon after joining the side of the Union. Article four, Section forty six of Michigan s fourth part of the Constitution forbids any regulation that provides the consequence of the death. Early in the 21 century, a lawful amendment projected to permit capital punishment in particular situations miscarried to create it on the November poll afterward a resolution nosedived in the administration and a public inventiveness failed to meet enough signatures. It consists of everything the firm can do to influence the demand for its products (Kotler et al., 2013, p.53). Its main characteristics can be categorised into a 4Ps framework. a) Product Starbucks was initially known as a premium coffee chain for high standard coffee lovers. However, throughout the years and the fierce competition, Starbucks has expanded its product portfolio to match new customer needs. They introduced the brands Tazo Tea and Fizzio offering caffeine free handcrafted sodas (Mintel, 2014). They also launched innovative beverages like the Frappuccino, and created an extensive food menu. In fact, a study has shown that around 22% of hot drink purchasers were very interested in seeing baked goods on the menu of coffee shops (Mintel, 2014). They also do their best to introduce seasonal offerings, such as the gingerbread for Christmas (Erin, 2010). Though part of the same family, an outsider might classify them as adversaries judging by relationships between one another, the exiled family members, and the differentiations between political views. Although all of these central themes reoccur over and over throughout the narrative, family relationships lie at the heart of the tale. • 14. Pros And Cons Of School Blocking Students Professor Sam Wineburg of Stanford University adamantly opposes the practice of schools blocking students from certain websites and databases such as Wikipedia, Twitter, and Instagram. Dr. Wineburg suggests that if students only have access to information chosen and filtered by the institution, their ability to choose what to believe, and how to think will not develop. If students do not have access to sites such as Wikipedia, once they are able to browse freely, they will be unable to tell what is reliable. By imposing these restrictions, schools are failing to allow students to think freely. More importantly, they are depriving students of furthering their intelligence by choosing themselves what information is valid and what is not. These constraints essentially tell students what to believe; therefore, once they go beyond classroom doors and browse freely, they will be incapable of finding sources on their own. Furthermore, blocking sites only worsens the spread of fake news, since students believe everything they read. I agree with Dr. Wineburg in that schools should not block certain websites. Blocking students from sources or only allowing certain online databases not only limits students ability to expand their knowledge, but harms their free thinking and forces them to believe the information placed in front of them, ultimately contributing to students spreading fake news. The Rite of Spring was performed by Sergei Diaghilev s Ballet Russes on May 29th, 1913 at the Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris. It was later remade by the Joffrey Ballet in ... I think Nijinsky decided to use the circle dancing as his spatial configuration because the circles allowed for more use of the stage and it symbolizes the rituals of natives are all connected during their celebrations and sacrifices. By having the males and females separated Nijinsky made a strong statement that I believe is that the only thing that brings the sexes together is their important ritual of sacrifice. For most of the performance, the dancers were in unison. This helps the audience capture everything that is occurring. It allows the crowd to focus their attention on the important aspect of the performance instead of trying to go back and forth from one side of the stage to another. The spectators can also appreciate the movement of the dancers more if they are in unison. It also helped Nijinsky show what he felt was important in the performance if everyone was doing the same thing. There were some instances that the dancers were so n sync that they looked like robots. The moves that they made seemed simples, for example, their stomping didn t seem complicated but to do it at the same time looked very complex and harder. Najinsky showed in The Rite of Spring that these performances could be about normal people and their traditions instead of fantasy. The dancers were hunched over and close to the ground and loose with their bodies which is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Analysis Of Wood Lab In our density of wood lab, we were interested in learning more about densities of wood, how to measure density, the difference between softwoods and hardwoods, and how density and strength are related. In this lab, we utilized 10 different samples of wood blocks. By measuring each sample s Volume (Length x Width x Height) and mass, we were able to determine each sample s density (Mass + Volume). The chart below describes our findings. Sample Volume (〖cm〗^3) Mass (g) Density O 18.93 16.04 34.97 2 11.40 15.26 26.66 27 13.44 13.13 26.57 19 10.47 9.59 20.06 25 11.91 10.88 22.79 31 12.40 13.02 25.42 37 10.11 7.37 17.48 C 18.85 12.72 31.57 M 20.15 13.94 34.09 P 15.55 11.17 26.72 From our findings, we were able to determine that sample O (Aged White Oak) and sample M (Red Maple) were the densest. By measuring the sample s density and then determining what the sample was, we were able to observe the differences in the wood including color, grain, texture, and weight and its effects on the density of wood. Additionally, this lab gave us a better understanding of why it is important to understand wood density. When building a home or another woodworking project you want to be aware of the type of wood you are using and its density. If you are building a home or a piece of furniture you are going to need a wood that is strong and will last. Therefore, you will know you will need a dense wood like oak. But if you are creating a decorative, lightweight art piece you may want a less dense wood like Lati. It was interesting to see in this lab, that even though some samples were larger in size than other they still weighed less than the smaller, denser wood samples. This shows that even though you may have the right size wood, it may not be the correct density to complete the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poverty level, however, has fallen by more than 20%, helped by its prominent agricultural sector. The Bangladeshi economy is helped by its big garment sector, which contributes more than two thirds of the country s trade. The major challenge to prosperous growth is the vulnerability of the land to cyclones and floods. However, even with such challenges, Bangladesh has experienced a growth rate of 5% since 1990. • 32. Minnie s Desolation in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers Susan Glaspell, writer of the short story A Jury of Her Peers details the isolated rural farm house of Minnie Wright and Mr.Wright. Glaspell advocates for the equality of woman and hopes to warn the readers of the difference between the law and what is actually right. She conveys the meaning of her theme by describing a case of a deprived woman, Minnie, who is absolutely isolated from any other kind of companionship except for her husband s, which is like a raw hard wind that gets to the bone. (Glaspell 198) Although Minnie isn t present at the time of the investigation, the setting of her house lets the readers know some of the various kinds of isolation she deals with for twenty years before being sent to jail. The different kinds of isolation that Minnie experiences are symbolized in the objects and information Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters share and discover while being at the scene of the incident. Minnie s youthful life was the complete opposite to her current life. Mrs. Hale spoke of her youth and said she used to wear pretty clothes and be lively when she was Minnie Foster. (Glaspell 195) But now all Minnie wears is a shabby black shirt that bore the marks of much making over along with the same gray shawl . (Glaspell 195) Minnie s lively spirit and style of clothing evoke a stage in her life where she was joyful and free from a man who didn t represent her. • 33. Perioperative Observation Perioperative Observation Paper During my observation, I followed the patient from her preparation of surgery, into the operating room, to recovery. I gain insight on what happens during surgeries from nurses, surgeons, and other hospital staff. This experience was much different than any other clinical I have gone to. After having first hand experience, I now know that surgery is nothing like what is portrayed on television. Background Inquiry The procedure that I observed was a total knee replacement of the left knee, and it was for a patient who was suffering from osteoarthritis. The only allergy that this patient had was to quinidine, an antiarrhythmic agent and anti parasite agent, irrelevant to her osteoarthritis. Other than osteoarthritis, this patient was generally healthy and did not have any other health conditions or comorbidities that would impact this surgery or any other activities of daily living. The Pathophysiology The knee is a hinge joint which is needed for movement. The joint is made by the femur and the tibia, and also contains the patella which acts as a shield for the joint. In knees with osteoarthritis, the cartilage on the ends of the bones deteriorates, causing the bones to rub against each other. X rays can be used for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis; the images would reveal damage and other changes related to osteoarthritis. With osteoarthritis of the knees, the patient would experience progressively increasing pain, stiffness, and they would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prescribed drug treatment seems to be the strongest source of psychological stress control. Anti depressants and BZs are prescribed to reduce the feelings of anxiety or depression induced through stress induced illness. The effect of the drugs is simple; they suitably block or reduce the activity of the brains neurotransmitter for release of serotonin, or directly reduce activity in the pathways leading to the nervous system around the body, not allowing blood pressure or the heart rate to rise, as it is these bodily systems that influence the feelings of anxiety. Once blocked or suppressed the individual when faced with a stressor will feel much calmer and able to cope with the unwanted stressor presented to them. Weaknesses. All drugs present side effects which are usually unpleasant. Most common side effects are nausea, dizziness and stomach upset. • 38. Abstinence-Only vs. Comprehensive Sex Education Essay Since the HIV/AIDS epidemic began in the U.S. in the early 1980s the issue of sex education for American youth has had the attention of the nation. There are about 400,000 teen births every year in the U.S, with about 9 billion in associated public costs. STI contraction in general, as well as teen pregnancy, have put the subject even more so on the forefront of the nation s leading issues. The approach and method for proper and effective sex education has been hotly debated. Some believe that teaching abstinence only until marriage is the best method while others believe that a more comprehensive approach, which includes abstinence promotion as well as contraceptive information, is necessary. Other supporters think that sex education should not deviate from other teachings of other health curricula such as drunk driving, tobacco use, drug use, alcohol consumption, gun use, fighting; all things which are taught to just not do (Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). They believe that it is the responsibility of a public institution which serves kids to teach them risk avoidance rather than harm reduction ( WebMD: Better Information. Better Health ). Many advocates for abstinence only education believe that its message is strongly intertwined with traditional values and religious faith; both of which they claim to have measurable influence in preventing teens from having sex (Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). Christian conservative women believe that comprehensive sex education would encourage sexual activity and lesbianism, as well as undercut marriage and create social decay (Fields 24). Proponents for abstinence only education believe that the abstinence only message has contributed to the decline of adolescent sexual activity as well as negative related outcomes. In the 1990s there was a decrease in adolescent pregnancy, birth and abortion rates. These proponents attribute these declining statistics to the abstinence only message and claim that the declines cannot be accredited to increased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Utopia In John Foster s Story The Machine Stops In Fosters story The Machine Stops he displays two points of view into the utopian society ruled by the machine, which prove Rothstein s Idea that one man s utopia is another man s dystopia. The first character in his story, Vashti, Is content with her life and would consider society close to a utopia. The second character, Kuno, Vashti s son, is not as pleased with his situation. The clashing opinions give the reader a lot to think about when considering Rothstein s idea. Vashti, the woman at the beginning of the story, lives out her days as many other people of this time do, sitting alone in an arm chair in the middle of their room. Everything is brought to her at a moment s notice, which makes moving from her spot a seemingly pointless thing to do. For her, everything is good enough . When she refers to the way the machine cannot display the emotions of another, while talking with her son, she disregards the imperfection saying that the idea this communication is an idea that was good enough for all practical purposes.
