Firewalls And Intrusion Detection Systems Essay
In an e commerce world, organizations are susceptible to hackers and intruders. Thus creating the
information technology protection systems which is used to reduce the possibility of intrusions
from occurring. Intrusions occur by uninvited outsiders (sometimes intruders can be internal users
like employees) who try to access an organization s information system using the internet with the
intent to gain competitive advantage of some sort. Organizations depend on securitytechnology to
avoid loss from security breach, as well as to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. However,
firewalls are also vulnerable to errors, and implementing a security technology comes with
challenges and critical decisions that can possibly cause a financial burden on the organization if
done without seriousness and commitment. Information securityis about managing risk, and
managing risk is about discovering and measuring threats to information assets; and taking actions
to respond to those threats (Al Awadi, Renaud, 2007, p.3). This paper will discuss a few aspects
that are involved with firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
Firewalls is categorized as a preventive control which is used as a defense shield around IT systems
to keep intruders and hacking from occurring, whereas, an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) which
is categorized as a detective control is used to detect intrusions that have already occurred
(Cavusoglu, Mishra, Raghunathan, 2005). However, IDSs are not

All About the Brake-Assist System Essay
The Brake Assisted System
The purpose of the brake assisted system
The purpose of the brake assisted system is assist when the user applies force to the brake pedal
that is not sufficient enough to stop the vehicle. Based on the speed and force to which the brake
pedal is pressed, the brake assisted system will detect if an emergency is taking place or could have
taken place. The brake assist system increases the brake pressure until the ABS regulation
intervenes to prevent the wheels from locking. This way the greatest possible braking effect can be
achieved and the brake path can be shortened significantly.
There are two types of brake assist system which are as follows:
1.The hydraulic brake assist system
2.The mechanical brake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trigger threshold is presented in the graph. In the green area above this trigger threshold, the
brake assist system is active. 1.Calculate the benefits of using brake assisted system.
Using brake assisted system can prevent your brakes and wheel from locking and furthermore
causing an accident to occur. In situation where the vehicle in front of you stop suddenly; the
function of the brake assisted system is to prevent you from losing control.
2.How much actually exert in the brake when using manual braking system?
If we were to take a look at a situation where the piston in the master cylinder is pushes 40mm
with 10N force. It is understood that the slave piston will then move 10mm with a force of 40N.
Now, that force can be further increased by inserting a lever connected between piston, pedal and
pivot point. Note that, if the distance from the pedal to the pivot is 3 times the distance from the
pivot to the connected piston, then it multiplies the pedal force by a factor of 3, as the user is
pushing down on the pedal.
In case of a user who pushes pedal 120mm down with 10N force, 30N force will be applied to the
master piston and slave piston move the brake pad by 10mm of a force of 120N.
3.How much actually exert in the brake when using power system?
When the diaphragm moves towards the lower pressure chamber it creates a force in relation to the
area of the diaphragm and the differential pressure. This force that has

Shoplifting Techniques Used By Shoplifters
9.16.What are the shoplifting techniques used by shoplifters?
Shoplifters use a variety of techniques, such as boosters, blockers, sweepers, walkers, diverters, and
wearers.
Boosters are shoplifters who shove merchandise into concealed areas of parcels, and booster boxes
are carefully construct that appear authentic, tightly wrapped packages, but which contain trap
doors that allow the shoplifters to slip merchandise into the boxes quickly and easily.
Blockers are to obstruct the vision of the store personnel while they or a partner shoplifts by simply
stands between the salespersons and a shoplifting partner.
Sweepers are simply brush merchandise off the counter into a shopping bag or some other type of
container. They typically reach over a counter and apparently, to examine a piece of merchandise
but in the process of bringing their arm back they sweep merchandise off the counter and into the
container.
Walkers are shoplifters who have perfect the technique of walking naturally while carrying
concealed merchandise between their legs. Shoplifters who have developed this skill are capable
of carrying merchandise both small items and large items such as personal care products, wines

Apprehension of this kind will strengthen the store s case against a shoplifter. In most cases, store
security or management personnel will handle these types of apprehensions. It is important for
store employees to inform such personnel immediately in order apprehensions can be made before
the shoplifters escape. At times if the store security or management personnel are not available, a
good approach to use when stopping a suspect is to speak to the person and identify yourself, then
say, I believe you have some merchandise that you have forgotten to pay for. Would you mind
coming back to the store to straighten this matter

Jane s Psychological Problems in Charlotte Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
In Charlotte Gilman s short story The Yellow Wallpaper, Jane, the main character, is a good
example of Sigmund Freud s Studies In Hysteria. Jane suffers from symptoms such as story making
and daydreaming. Jane has a nervous weakness throughout the story.
Jane is a victim of a nervous disorder of the brain called hysteria. She is aware that she suffers from
a series of mental and physical disturbances. She says that she has a temporary nervous depression:
a slight hysterical tendency what is one to do? (2).

Jane is often irritated from the wallpaper in her room. The wallpaper above her bed is stripped
off and this bothers her immensely. She claims, I never saw a worse paper in my life (4). In fact,
she hates it with great passion by saying no wonder the children hated it! I should hate it myself if
I had to live in this room long (4). She refers back to the children from her imagination, the children
that were living in the so called nursery before her. Towards the end of the story, Jane learns to hate
the room as a result of spending so much of her time in there. She is really disturbed from the
patterns of the wallpaper. Jane comments on the patterns, as a constant irritant to a normal mind
(12) because she thinks that she has a normal mind. The color is repellent, that is, almost revolting.
She says that it is dull enough to confuse the eye in following, pronounced enough to constantly
irritate and provoke study, and when you follow the lame uncertain curves for a little distance they
suddenly commit suicide (4).
According to Freud, Jane is clearly hallucinating when she says that the lines on the wallpaper
suddenly commit suicide (6). She is greatly annoyed and bothered by the way it looks. Jane sees a
vision of death in the paper. There is a recurrent spot where the pattern lolls like a broken neck and
two bulbous eyes stare at you upside down (6). Her imagination of the wallpaper leads her to see a
dead person. As

Analysis Of Johnson Johnson And Johnson Company Essay
When seven people in Chicago died from cyanide laced Tylenol tablets in 1982, Johnson
Johnson (JNJ) responded in a manner that not only saved the company s future, but also saved
lives (Knight, 1982). JNJ reacted to the shocking news of the over the counter drug related
deaths with compassion, urgency and honesty. JNJ aimed at showing the public that the company
was as much of a victim as the consumers were, and vowed to resolve the issue and keep the
media and consumers involved and aware, as per the company credo (Our Credo; Rehak, 2002).
JNJ s timely response set a precedence by which public relations practitioners would model and
businesses would strive to achieve. Background
General Company Background In 1886, Robert Wood Johnson, Edward Mead Johnson, and James
Wood Johnson formed Johnson Johnson company and quickly expanded the company in the late
19th century (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.). The company created products that were aimed at
improving health and personal hygiene and published books and manuals that instructed sterile
surgery methods, wound treatments and women s health care (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.).
JNJ began the practice of providing money and supplies for disaster relief in 1900 when the
company assisted victims of a hurricane in Galveston, Texas (Johnson Johnson, n.d.).

Eliminating Taxes
Norman Vincent Peale once said, Change your thoughts and you can change the world. So why
don t we change the world? The first change I would make is eliminating all taxes. After I would
provide free college for everyone who wishes to attend. Finally, I would get rid of all homework.
That is what I would do if I could change the world. Eliminating taxes would be the first change I
would make. I would abolish taxes to save people money. With no taxes, items sold in stores
would cost less. With taxes gone, it would give people more time because no one would have to do
yearly taxes. Not having to do taxes every year saves people from the stress and anger when a
mistakes occurs. Finally, getting rid of taxes would save people money. Taxes are so high that the

Free college would cost families less money. The money that would have been used to pay for
tuition and books could be used for hospital visits or family trip. No college fee would make
achieving a degree easier. This would allow students to focus more on their studies instead of
worrying about paying them. Lastly, there would be less stress from college students. With less
stress, college would have less drop outs than they do since the added stress of paying tuition
would be lifted. Paying for college only causes stress in the world, which is why this change
needs to be made. Lastly, I would make it so no one had to do homework. No homework would
give students more time to accomplish other things. They could finish a book, craft, or anything
they to do in their free time. There would be less stress in the world. With no homework no one
would stress about finishing it. Finally, families would have more time to spend together. The time
that is stolen from you to do homework takes away from family bonding. Students would have

American Studies Class Analysis
One of my most memorable learning experiences occurred this year in my American Studies
class. As a part of the class my teacher, Mr. Blahnik, had agree and disagree topics about current
issues in today s society. During this process, differences of ethics and morals clashed, but at the
same time it was beneficial to envision what another is picturing an issue. In addition, it taught
how the same facts that two people build their interpretation of replies completely on the
interpretation of each individual. This knowledge on how everything was based on interpretation
allowed me to be rewarded with more confidence in my response. As a student who moved to
Sturgeon Bay High School just a school year ago, it was nerve racking to be strong in my believes
not knowing the basics of what my peers would think. Moreover, this experience making me

Smallpox Vaccine Analysis
Immunizations have lowered the morbidity rate over the course of many years. Before vaccines
were introduced, during 1900 through 1904, an average of 48,164 cases and 2528 deaths were
caused by both severe and mild forms of smallpox in the United States. After the smallpox vaccine
was introduced, the disease ceased to stop and the last case to ever be reported was in 1929.
Getting vaccinated against the smallpoxactually eradicated the disease, meaning it has been wiped
out. Next, in 1951 1954, on average, 16,316 polio cases and 1879 polio deaths were reported each
year. Once the polio vaccinewas introduced, less that 1000 cases were reported in 1962. As of

declined in many countries within Sub Saharan Africa. This is because teacher salaries have not
kept up with the high inflation rates in these countries, leaving the best teachers to search for better

Catullus Before Death Do Us Analysis
Until Death Do Us Part After a long and perilous journey from Verona, Catullus had finally arrived
at Rome. As he stood by the entrance to that magnificent and intimidating city, his emotions
overtook him like a tempestuous storm. He had left his family and his filial duties in order to
pursue a glorious career in his vocation and avocation: poetry. For Catullus, the small town of
Verona was a cultural wasteland; it suffered from a paucity of playwrights, poets, and prose
writers. Only in Rome, with its diverse and cultured populace, could he truly fulfill his dreams of
becoming one of Latin s greatest poets. Thus, as he stood by the gates of Rome, he felt a mixture
of feelings; excitement and apprehension at the future lying beyond the entranceway s ivory
veneer, and a sense of sadness and melancholia at the past he was forever abandoning. Catullus
had not yet taken two full strides in Rome before being suddenly accosted by a pulchritudinous
young lady. Introducing herself as Lesbia, the voluptuous woman graciously invited Catullus into
her house for a meal. Catullus did not hesitate for a moment to accept Lesbia s invitation, indeed

Prohibition of Alcohol in the 1920 В€s. These two major issues of their time may not seem like
they can be logically compared, but statistics for usage and a correlating rise in crime for both
eras show a strong relationship. There is also a tendency for an outright defiance of the laws and
law makers of the United States government in both cases. Most people today think that the
prohibition of the 1920 В€s and the current war on drugs have many contrasting points. The
opposite is true. However, the points that do contrast are more opinion based than fact oriented.
The following paragraphs will attempt to clearly and effectively show a comparison and ... Show

A change was clearly needed and the government responded by redefining the Volstead Act. The
redefinition made any drink containing more than 3.2% alcohol illegal. Wine, because of its lower
alcohol content, became very popular and sales soared. Then on December 5th,
1933, thirty three states ratified the 21st Amendment to the Constitution which repealed the 18th
Amendment. Drinking, and the sale of alcohol were once again legal in the United States.
A summary of the war the United States is waging on drugs is necessary before any comparison
and contrast position can be made with the Prohibition Era.
In the past several decades, millions of people in America have become involved in illegal drugs,
either through usage or through the importation, manufacture, sale and distribution of these illegal
substances. According to United States Justice Department statistics, of the millions of Americans
who use illegal drugs today, 2.7 million of these people are hard core drug abusers. The hard core
drugs that enjoy the most popularity are crack, cocaine and heroin all of which are highly addictive.
Addiction increases consumption and consumption increases the necessity to provide the drugs. It
is an illegal example of a supply and demand scenario.
While drugs attract users in all economic levels, it appears to be especially prevalent among those
living in poverty. One possible explanation is that at the poverty level there is little

The Life of Saint Anthony
The life of Saint Anthony was vividly pictured in the narration of his life by no other person than
St. Athanasius. In St. Athanasius description of St. Anthony, he explored all areas where St.
Anthony was modeled as a saint. In light of this, the thesis for this essay states that classical genres
to which St. Athanasius modelled the Life of St. Anthony is autobiography/biography, mythology
and adventures.
Throughout the description of St. Anthony s life, he conformed himself to these models. To this
end, this essay explores ways in which St. Anthony s life conformed to these models. One of the
first ways St. Anthony s life conformed to St. Athanasius model was his first step into asceticism
(Robert 26).
Asceticism was the first major decision St. Anthony took after the death of his parents. The death
of his parents left him with the burden of caring for his sister and taking care of the vast property
that belonged to the family.
However, while on his way to church, he was meditating a bible verse but on stepping into the
church, he was baffled when he heard the Gospel being read instructing whoever wants to serve God
to go and sell of his property and distribute the profits from the sale to the poor. He felt that the
verse of the Gospel was meant for him so he did exactly as he was instructed (Robert 26). After
selling off the property, he distributed the proceeds amongst the poor. St. Anthony went to church
again and after listening to the Gospel again, he said he

The Watergate Scandal In The United States
It is widely believed that political leaders are crucial members of nations and societies.
Ideally, their main goal would be to construct a strong and prosperous nation, and satisfy the needs
of people. However, an unexpected scandal occurred in the 1970s in the United States, which led to
a drastic decline in public trust towards the president, and that was the Watergate scandal(Genovese
4). It was so atypical in presidential history because for the first time the president himself was
involved in the crimes during his administration (Genovese 1). Although
President Richard Nixon made great contributions during his presidency, his scandal brought a

Since Nixon s corruption was serious, he must have spent a huge amount of money on illegal

It is convincible that those presidential candidates would feel so unconvinced after hearing

they voted for Nixon to become president again after they knew what kind of president he is. To

Campaign Act set limits on campaign contributions, provided partial federal funding for
presidential campaigns, created the Federal Election Commission to enforce these laws. It placed
strict limits on House, Senate, and presidential candidates:$25000 for House campaigns;$35000 for

With enaction of this act, those large contributors could be eliminated, and president s expenditures
could be restricted. The Ethics in Government Act was passed in 1978. It required financial

Essay on Sayo Masuda’s Autobiography of a Geisha
Sayo Masuda s Autobiography of a Geisha
Autobiography of a Geisha was originally written for a memoir competition run by the Japanese
magazine Housewife s Companion. Sayo Masuda wrote and submitted her manuscript in hopes of
winning the monetary prize offered. She won second place in the competition and came to the
attention of an editor who helped her expand her story and publish it as a book. Riding on the
wave of interest stirred by Arthur Golden s Memoirs of a Geisha, G. G. Rowley translated Sayo
Masuda s tale for the American market.
Rowley did an excellent job of capturing Masuda s voice in his translation. If English had been
Masuda s native language, the result might easily have been Rowley s translation. Masuda s tale ...

Readers will also come away with an understanding of the hot spring geisha s life, but caution
should be taken. It is easy, as many critics have done, to presume that Masuda s tale is the
unvarnished truth about the entire geisha world, rather than merely the unvarnished truth about a
part of it. Reviewer Kimberly Shearer Palmer wrote that Autobiography of a Geisha resolves the
ambiguity over whether or not geisha are prostitutes... [Masuda] leaves little doubt in the reader
s mind that even the most talented geisha are forced to sleep with men for money, a fact glossed
over in many accounts of the profession. (14). Palmer leaves little doubt in the minds of those
who read her review that she takes Masuda s experiences of geisha life as true for all classes of
geisha, regarding sources such as Mineko Iwasaki s Geisha, A Life as tainted. Many other
reviewers follow in the same vein, calling reports of higher class geisha s lives romanticized
(Napier) and Hollywood version[s] (Gavin). Perhaps these attitudes stem from a culture clash which
prevents many Americans from understanding the differences between Japanese prostitutes and
geisha, and the gradations within the flower and willow world. The tendency seems to be to lump
all geisha together with the term prostitute, an attitude which is all too eager to use Masuda s
biography to support generalized, culturally skewed assumptions about geisha.

Evolution of mass customization First, I think it is necessary to briefly describe the development of
mass production to mass customization. Mass customization has been one of the causes of the
economic growth in the 21st century. Below, you can see figure, which shows evolution of mass
customization: Fig 1: Evolution of mass customization1 The first time our civilization has faced
with mass customization in pre industrialization era. In spite of this fact, today we also have started
to develop it. Of course, these times are very different, because today people use modern
technologies. Between these periods we can observe mass production, which come in vogue with
fundamental benefit of economy of scale and it was peak in mid century. For example, it was time
of Soviet Union, and then companies produced a lot of similar clothes, shoes and etc. In late
twentieth century, mass customization was back. Manufacturers offer different variation of
products and customization is possible. Methods of application will examine in the next section.
Mass customization strategies: advantages and disadvantages It is very important to understand
how the mass customization works in practice. Generally, scientists mark out four strategies:
transparent, cosmetic, adaptive and collaborative. A few words about each strategy: * Cosmetic
strategy: companies produce a standard product but present it differently to different customers.

Maggie A Girl Of The Street Essay
Maggie a Girl of the Street is a classic novella written by Stephen Crane in 1893. It is a story filled
with irony, hypocrisy, and most importantly feminism. While the title of Crane s novel implies that
the story is going to focus on Maggie, it actually deals more directly with the Bowery, and how that
environment shapes those who reside there. The setting of the story plays a very important role in
this novella, not only is it responsible for shaping the characters in the story, it is also what creates
the aspects of ecofeminism that a frequently over looked within this story. Ecofeminism has been
defined as a movement that sees a connection between the exploitation and degradation of the
natural world and the subordination and oppression of women. We can see the earlier mentioned
irony, hypocrisy, biblical illusions, and feminism manifest into oppression of multiple characters
within the story, just as we can see the oppression in the environment they live in. Feminism... Show

Ecofeminism is a relatively new activist and academic movement. It focuses on critical connections
between the exploitation of women, and the domination of nature. It takes from the green
movement a concern about the impact of human activities on the non human world and from
feminism the view of humanity as gendered in ways that subordinate, exploit and oppress women.
(Feminism Ecology). Ecofeminism also suggests that women are in fact hurt more then men by
the exploitation of the earth, mainly because women are more vulnerable. The main focus of this
theory are women who are at a higher risk because they are suffering a type of double oppression,
be it race, education, poverty, or the nation they reside in. While ecofeminism does focus on nature
and women being equally oppressed, feminism in general plays a role in the creation and

Comparing Dostoyevsky s Crime And Punishment
Environment s Impact in Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment
Everything depends on circumstance and a man s environment. Environment is everything: the man
himself is nothing (Dostoevsky 359). Set in the tragic poverty stricken milieu of nineteenth century
St. Petersburg, Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment follows the psychological suffering of
Rodion Raskolnikov, or Rodya, after he murders two women and steals their money. At the outset
of this journey, Raskolnikov, overhears locals complaining about a bitter old woman who owns a
pawn shop. Viewing himself as an equalizer, Rodya uses the locals animosity to justify to himself
the murder of the austere pawn shop owner and her sister. Shifting between guilt, pride, and
indifference, his already distraught mental state is exacerbated by the opinions of those who
surround him. Sonia, his lover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A recurring theme throughout Crime and Punishment is the psychological impact of committing a
crime. Raskolnikov is mentally torn between his guilt and his desire to remain free. Tormented by
his conscience, Rodya repeatedly tries to turn himself in and nearly confesses his crime. When
conversing with Zamiotov, an investigator, Rodya points all the evidence in his direction,
describing the way [he] would ve gone about it (159). Here, being one of his many near confessions,
Dostoyevsky conveys Raskolnikov s anguish as being greater than the actual punishment. He lived
under the constant torture that his psychological misery would momentarily let it out (159). This
constant anxiety plagues Raskolnikov from the moment he commits his crime until his confession,
illustrating that the agony he subconsciously suffers is far more painful than

The performers were talented, but I did not care for the pieces that were chosen for the concert.
The first piece is called Trio in E Flat Major Op. 40 originally by Johannes Brahms and it is
performed by the horn trio. The three instruments played are violin played by Hector Vera, horn

conductor but it is never played, making Now The Powers of Heaven under the pressure of a
finale piece. This concert overall was interesting and entertaining. The way that the ensemble is
split into trios and groups and the short and plentiful songs provide a refreshing change
continuously giving the audience a chance to hear different play styles. The only critique I have
of the pieces is that at times they had a disorganized sound that I did not recognize as pleasant to

emotional connection to the music. My favorite piece of the night was The Obstinate because of
the amazing french horn solo that is played halfway through and leads into the conclusion of the

style that is not something that I would typically indulge in. The art behind these pieces was shown

My Greatest Memories Of Literacy In My Life
As a child, I remember sitting in my shared bedroom with my oldest sister on the bunk
underneath me, and learning how to read with my leap frog. To me it felt like a toy, but there
were mini books you would place in it and you simply picked up the stylus and touched words
and pictures. As you touched the designated items the speaker would say the words, and play
music sometimes related. My literacy would have been dependent on the educational
opportunities around me, and how wealthy the area was I went to school in, but my mother
always made sure I had what I needed to succeed, lik the leap frog for example. This is my
earliest memory of literacy in my life. My kindergarten teachers were Ms.Tempest and
Ms.Hawkins, I was in their morning class. I vaguely recall writing in this class, but I remember
reading a lot. My family moved quite frequently due to my father being in the Navy so we ended
up in Virginia Beach and I attended Green Run Elementary school. This was not a nice area to
grow up in. My sisters, and I were not allowed outside without my parents ever. I think the area
we were in impacted the literacy in my school. We didn t have as many opportunities as other
schools did. My mother always took it upon herself to read to me before bed though, I think she
knew my educationwas sub par,but she didn t want my future to be affected by that. We read every
single night before bed. Our favorite stories were The Frog, and the Toad, Geraldine s first snow,

Carrying out an environmental analysis can help determine the viability of investment. The
elements that need to be analyzed in such a probable country include political, economical, social,
technological, environmental and legal, which are popularly referred to as PESTEL analysis
(Sexton Vlasto, 2012). Besides, the company must evaluate its internal analysis in the lens of the
new market by carrying out a SWOT analysis to establish its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
and threats. The reasons why companies chose to become multinational corporations vary. Even
before carrying out market analysis, the reason is always there. Establishing the right country to
invest, can go a long way in expanding the business in the future markets. However, some
ventures fail, but that does not mean that the business cannot still do well in other alternative
markets (Sexton Vlasto, 2012). All in all, there are different reasons which push companies to go
into the global market, otherwise known multinational companies. The reasons are discussed
below. Firstly, first mover benefit refers to the venturing into a new market and getting all the
advantages of being the first to operate in that market in particular products or services. A firm
may consider going global in an effort to tap untapped market for its products or services.
According to Biggs (2011), a business that enters into a market as the first operator not only
benefits from increased sales and profits, but also the

Man Can Not Live Without God

Man Cannot Live Without God
The question Can man live without God? is interesting because most people would argue that it
depends on worldview. However through a careful analysis of The Scarlet Letter and Ravi
Zacharias book Can Man Live Without God a definitive answer can be concluded. The depiction
of God s role in The Scarlet Letter, the antitheistic worldview described in Can Man Live Without
God, and a look into how God affects life today will provide more than satisfactory information to
conclude that man cannot live without God.
The Scarlet Letter is a brilliant novel depicting the life of Hester Prynne after having an affair with
a local reverend. Hester Prynne, at first ravenous and distraught in her jail cell, soon overcomes
her situation by finding peace in her daughter Pearl. Even though the rest of the city has shunned
her, Hester credits God for blessing her with a wonderful daughter from her sinful affair. However,
every coin has two sides. Hester s lover, and Pearl s father, Rev. Dimmesdale finds himself in an
increasingly worse situation. Dimmesdale, not having the same closure that Hester did in Pearl,
begins to become filled with guilt and worry. This eventually leads to him developing a heart
condition and unknowingly seeking treatment from Hester s fiendish long lost husband, Roger
Chillingworth. Chillingworth is hell bent on tormenting Hester and her lover for betraying him.

How To Write An Essay On The Silver Panthers
The Silver Panther In the days before man there was only animals. The colors on their bodies
represented how high your ranked with the rest of the animals. Silver king is ranked the highest
out of pink peasants, blue knights, and red nobles. In order for them to move up the rankings
they have to have a clan of their animals, and will have to kill other animals from the other clans
of a different animal. Inside clan Skikru the panthers there was three specific animals everyone
looked at because of their family s history everyone became Kings and Queens. These specific
animals names are Huncho, Herbo, and Keef. The way they moved up was different from
everyone else but nobody else knew. Clan Trikru the beetles, were most killed but they
reproduced the most. Huncho, herbo, and keef found a few of the Trikru family and would act as
if they were friendly and when they become friendly with one another the three would hold up their
tail and wag it which hypnotizes them, then they travel them all the way to their den and would do

Two Curious young little beetles named Bobo and BonBon. One day Bobo and BonBon were
exploring the woods when they came across this plant called black widow, but since they were
young they didn t know what the plant was. The black widow is a plant that makes you hallucinate
over periods of time. So BoBo and BonBon took the risk and ate the plant, when the sun started to
hit the horizon the young beetles decided to head home. On their way home the black widow hit
them and they found themselves lost in the woods in the dark. Huncho and herbo were looking for
food to eat that night and stumbled upon the little Beetles. When they noticed that they were
hallucinating they quickly whipped up their tail and hypnotized the beetles into following them to
their den where they locked them up for

Flanker Brands
A brand portfolio is all the lines and brands that a company offers. The four brand roles in a
brand portfolio are flankers, cash cows, low end entry, and high end prestige (Kotler Keller, 2012,
p. 123). Flanker brands are usually in addition to a brand that is offering a high quality product at a
higher price (Giddens). The flanker is supposed to help gain market share without cannibalizing the
main brand. A good example of a flanker brand is Squire Guitars. Squire guitars are about half the
price as Fender guitars. They all look very similar but are lower quality and most are made at a
lower cost outside the United States. Cash cow brands generally have dwindling sales but remain
profitable. They require minimal marketingsupport so

Portrayal Of Mental Illness In Black Swan Lake
I decided to watch the movie Black Swan for the mental illness portion of the culture badge. The
movie portrays a number of mental illness including obsessive compulsive disorder, eating
disorder, and psychosis. Nina, the protagonist in the movie, is a fragile and repressed ballerina.
She strives for the lead in Tchaikovsky s SwanLake, a role that requires her to play both the gentle
white swan and the seductive black swan. While she is the perfect representation of the white
swan, she is also far from the image of the black swan. After winning the part, stress mounts on
Nina to fulfill her role as the black swan. She experiences unwanted sexual advances from her
director, jealousy from other ballerinas, as well as increasing conflict from her over controlling
mom as she tried to assert her autonomy. As stress and anxiety increase, Nina begins to experience
psychotic breaks in which the lines between reality and hallucination blurs, culminating in a
shocking ending relating to her embracing the Black Swan persona.... Show more content on

Based on her symptoms, Nina could have both schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder
towards the idea of perfection. As she tries to awake her inner black swan, Nina falsely
hallucinated some of her body injuries, her actions, and that another ballerina is coming after her.
These false beliefs and decisions she made due to her beliefs prevented Nina from having a
normal, healthy life. Nina also experiences anxiety by picking and scratching her skin as evident
signs and her obsessive traits are highlighted as she puts efforts to achieve perfection in dancing
and body image by developing eating

Should Craig Venter Use Yeast To Create Synthetic Life
The concept of synthetic life is to create a new type of living cell out of synthetic DNA. Craig
Venter and other scientists wanted to find a way to understand how life form on Earth. They were
answering the question; can mankind create lifeforms? Craig Venter did answer this question by
eventually using yeast to perform a transplant to make a new type of cell. In my opinion, Craig
Venter should not attempt to create synthetic life because I think it is playing Godand ultimately
messing with the balance of nature. Abiotic synthesis proves that life was made out of inorganic
precursors like energy from lighting or UV radiation. I am such a strong believer in letting mother
nature take care of itself and because of that I would not trust the creation of synthetic life. I also
think messing with synthetic life would make more problems for... Show more content on

It can even be the source of new man made diseases which actually defeats the purpose of
creating synthetic life. Other that are for synthetic life would say that this advancement would
be benefit science and life as we know it. It could make life cleaner and better by helping to fight
climate change and pollution . Some could even argue that having the knowledge to create
synthetic life was God giving us permission to go ahead and use synthetic life every day. There
are many consequences for creating synthetic life and because of that I really feel like it is
something we as humans need to think deeply about. A positive consequence/reward would be that
creating synthetic life would boost our economy and help in the medical field. However, a really
bad outcome could be that this innovation could be misused and cause another problem. It could be
a disease or just a new battle between nations to create the best synthetic biohazard bacteria or virus,
eventually wiping out the human race. My example may seem too extreme, but it could

My family has always trusted my decisions. They knew my aspirations and always had faith in
me. And I made sure not to let them down. I have failed at few occasions but with their support I
was able to overcome all the hurdles. In college too I continued to show my determination and
hard work. As a result I was given the responsibility to train the aquatics and water polo team. It
was a difficult task, however with support and hard work from my team members we won the
first ever medal for the team. I find it difficult to work under tight deadlines and so I have a habit
to plan out things, prioritize them and then solve them one by one. I have always been the
greatest critic of myself. I introspect a lot, analyse my mistakes and try to work over them. I am a
quick observer of things and people s behaviour. This really helps me to understand the other person
s state of mind and I steer the conversation accordingly. As a result I am not really comfortable
with strangers who are difficult to predict and this is one area where I would like to work on in the

understand the core of the problem and try to look beyond the obvious.

Intelligence Is An Important Factor
Intelligence can determines what classes you take, what jobs you get, your level of education, your
type of lifestyle, your future and etc.... Intelligence is an important factor in our lives but what
exactly is it? Intelligence has many different meanings due to different investigators having
numerous definitions of it. For example, in a 1921 conference, American psychologists Lewis M.
Terman and Edward L. Thorndike contrasted over the definition of intelligence, Terman believed
that intelligence was the ability to think abstractly while Thorndike alleged that intelligence was
learning and the ability to give good responses to questions (Sternberg, 2014). Overtime,
psychologists have been able to come up with a general meaning, which is... Show more content on

These dispute first initiated in 1865 with an English scientist, Francis Galton who began studying
the correlation on hereditary and success (Behavioral Neuroscience Web Ring Macalester
College). Convinced, based on his evidence, that success and other abilities were mostly based on
hereditary factors, he deduced that intelligence must be bred and not trained (Wilderdom, 2005).
He then opposed those who believed in the environmental effects on intelligence (Behavioral
Neuroscience Web Ring Macalester College). For centuries, this debate had no clear conclusion
but many theories and hypothesis. Although both the nature and nurture side has find great
amount of evidence, it is still undecided which side has more effects in one s intelligence. First,
the theory about how genes can affect your intelligence can be tested thanks to the birth of
monozygotic or identical twins born from the same cell (Behavioral neuroscience Web Ring
Macalester College). Because children share 50% of their genes with each of their parents, this
then becomes an interesting area of research because they could compare monozygotic twins who
share 100 percent of their genes. This is good because they both obtained 50% of their parents
genes plus they are identical twins so this gives a great window to research. In

Network Policy Server and Remote Access
The nature of our business requires us to have a flexible sales force. Because of that detail we
need to be receptive to the needs of our mobile workforce. The most critical tool involved in their
success is the ability to reliably connect and access our company networks. These connections can
be from employees using company issued laptops or personal computers used from home or on the
road.
For the most part we have addresses the needs of our sales force on a case by case basis but going
forward we really need to ensure we have a defined policy to streamline remote access. To
accomplish this there are a few benchmarks we need to achieve. First of all the network has to be

SHV s use that information contained by the SHA s to define what health requirements are needed
in order to be compliant and gain access to the network. Working together the SHA and SHV agents
monitor and validate the health of incoming network transmissions.
Statement of Health, System Statement of Health, and System Statement of Health Response
The Statement of Health or SoH is generated by each SHA and is communicated to the NAP to
determine compliance. Every time there is an update of change with a SHA possibly through
remediation the update is then also applied to the SoH. The NAP service will combine all of the
various SoH s that a client generated during a remote connection and combine them into the System
Statement of Health or SSoH which essentially defines the system health characteristics of the
client computer. Lastly the System Statement of Health Response is generated by the NAP after
compiling all of the remote user s system health characteristics. This information or SSoHR is sent
to the enforcement point for access validation.
NAP Enforcement
The NAP system health characteristics give the server all of the essential health information to grant
or deny access but we need a function to physically make that access decision. NAP uses
enforcement point to carry out that function. There are a few different methods of NAP
enforcement all of which have

In St. Athanasius description of St. Anthony, he explored all areas where St. Anthony was modeled as a saint. In light of this, the thesis for this essay states that classical genres to which St. Athanasius modelled the Life of St. Anthony is autobiography/biography, mythology and adventures. Throughout the description of St. Anthony s life, he conformed himself to these models. To this end, this essay explores ways in which St. Anthony s life conformed to these models. One of the first ways St. Anthony s life conformed to St. Athanasius model was his first step into asceticism (Robert 26). Asceticism was the first major decision St. Anthony took after the death of his parents. The death of his parents left him with the burden of caring for his sister and taking care of the vast property that belonged to the family. However, while on his way to church, he was meditating a bible verse but on stepping into the church, he was baffled when he heard the Gospel being read instructing whoever wants to serve God to go and sell of his property and distribute the profits from the sale to the poor. He felt that the verse of the Gospel was meant for him so he did exactly as he was instructed (Robert 26). After selling off the property, he distributed the proceeds amongst the poor. Essay on Sayo Masuda’s Autobiography of a Geisha Sayo Masuda s Autobiography of a Geisha Autobiography of a Geisha was originally written for a memoir competition run by the Japanese magazine Housewife s Companion. Sayo Masuda wrote and submitted her manuscript in hopes of winning the monetary prize offered. She won second place in the competition and came to the attention of an editor who helped her expand her story and publish it as a book. Riding on the wave of interest stirred by Arthur Golden s Memoirs of a Geisha, G. G. Rowley translated Sayo Masuda s tale for the American market. It is easy, as many critics have done, to presume that Masuda s tale is the unvarnished truth about the entire geisha world, rather than merely the unvarnished truth about a part of it. Reviewer Kimberly Shearer Palmer wrote that Autobiography of a Geisha resolves the ambiguity over whether or not geisha are prostitutes... [Masuda] leaves little doubt in the reader s mind that even the most talented geisha are forced to sleep with men for money, a fact glossed over in many accounts of the profession. (14). Palmer leaves little doubt in the minds of those who read her review that she takes Masuda s experiences of geisha life as true for all classes of geisha, regarding sources such as Mineko Iwasaki s Geisha, A Life as tainted. Many other reviewers follow in the same vein, calling reports of higher class geisha s lives romanticized (Napier) and Hollywood version[s] (Gavin). Perhaps these attitudes stem from a culture clash which prevents many Americans from understanding the differences between Japanese prostitutes and geisha, and the gradations within the flower and willow world. The tendency seems to be to lump all geisha together with the term prostitute, an attitude which is all too eager to use Masuda s biography to support generalized, culturally skewed assumptions about geisha. While the title of Crane s novel implies that the story is going to focus on Maggie, it actually deals more directly with the Bowery, and how that environment shapes those who reside there. The setting of the story plays a very important role in this novella, not only is it responsible for shaping the characters in the story, it is also what creates the aspects of ecofeminism that a frequently over looked within this story. Ecofeminism has been defined as a movement that sees a connection between the exploitation and degradation of the natural world and the subordination and oppression of women. The colors on their bodies represented how high your ranked with the rest of the animals. Silver king is ranked the highest out of pink peasants, blue knights, and red nobles. In order for them to move up the rankings they have to have a clan of their animals, and will have to kill other animals from the other clans of a different animal. Inside clan Skikru the panthers there was three specific animals everyone looked at because of their family s history everyone became Kings and Queens. These specific animals names are Huncho, Herbo, and Keef. The way they moved up was different from everyone else but nobody else knew. • 44. Flanker Brands A brand portfolio is all the lines and brands that a company offers. The four brand roles in a brand portfolio are flankers, cash cows, low end entry, and high end prestige (Kotler Keller, 2012, p. 123). Flanker brands are usually in addition to a brand that is offering a high quality product at a higher price (Giddens). The flanker is supposed to help gain market share without cannibalizing the main brand. A good example of a flanker brand is Squire Guitars. Squire guitars are about half the price as Fender guitars. They all look very similar but are lower quality and most are made at a lower cost outside the United States. Cash cow brands generally have dwindling sales but remain profitable. They require minimal marketingsupport so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Portrayal Of Mental Illness In Black Swan Lake I decided to watch the movie Black Swan for the mental illness portion of the culture badge. The movie portrays a number of mental illness including obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorder, and psychosis. Nina, the protagonist in the movie, is a fragile and repressed ballerina. She strives for the lead in Tchaikovsky s SwanLake, a role that requires her to play both the gentle white swan and the seductive black swan. While she is the perfect representation of the white swan, she is also far from the image of the black swan. After winning the part, stress mounts on Nina to fulfill her role as the black swan. She experiences unwanted sexual advances from her director, jealousy from other ballerinas, as well as increasing conflict from her over controlling mom as she tried to assert her autonomy. As stress and anxiety increase, Nina begins to experience psychotic breaks in which the lines between reality and hallucination blurs, culminating in a shocking ending relating to her embracing the Black Swan persona.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on her symptoms, Nina could have both schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder towards the idea of perfection. As she tries to awake her inner black swan, Nina falsely hallucinated some of her body injuries, her actions, and that another ballerina is coming after her. These false beliefs and decisions she made due to her beliefs prevented Nina from having a normal, healthy life. Nina also experiences anxiety by picking and scratching her skin as evident signs and her obsessive traits are highlighted as she puts efforts to achieve perfection in dancing and body image by developing eating ... • 46. Should Craig Venter Use Yeast To Create Synthetic Life The concept of synthetic life is to create a new type of living cell out of synthetic DNA. Craig Venter and other scientists wanted to find a way to understand how life form on Earth. They were answering the question; can mankind create lifeforms? Craig Venter did answer this question by eventually using yeast to perform a transplant to make a new type of cell. In my opinion, Craig Venter should not attempt to create synthetic life because I think it is playing Godand ultimately messing with the balance of nature. Abiotic synthesis proves that life was made out of inorganic precursors like energy from lighting or UV radiation. I am such a strong believer in letting mother nature take care of itself and because of that I would not trust the creation of synthetic life. Some could even argue that having the knowledge to create synthetic life was God giving us permission to go ahead and use synthetic life every day. There are many consequences for creating synthetic life and because of that I really feel like it is something we as humans need to think deeply about. A positive consequence/reward would be that creating synthetic life would boost our economy and help in the medical field. However, a really bad outcome could be that this innovation could be misused and cause another problem. It could be a disease or just a new battle between nations to create the best synthetic biohazard bacteria or virus, eventually wiping out the human race. Intelligence is an important factor in our lives but what exactly is it? Intelligence has many different meanings due to different investigators having numerous definitions of it. For example, in a 1921 conference, American psychologists Lewis M. Terman and Edward L. Thorndike contrasted over the definition of intelligence, Terman believed that intelligence was the ability to think abstractly while Thorndike alleged that intelligence was learning and the ability to give good responses to questions (Sternberg, 2014). Overtime, psychologists have been able to come up with a general meaning, which is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These dispute first initiated in 1865 with an English scientist, Francis Galton who began studying the correlation on hereditary and success (Behavioral Neuroscience Web Ring Macalester College). Convinced, based on his evidence, that success and other abilities were mostly based on hereditary factors, he deduced that intelligence must be bred and not trained (Wilderdom, 2005). He then opposed those who believed in the environmental effects on intelligence (Behavioral Neuroscience Web Ring Macalester College). For centuries, this debate had no clear conclusion but many theories and hypothesis. Although both the nature and nurture side has find great amount of evidence, it is still undecided which side has more effects in one s intelligence. First, the theory about how genes can affect your intelligence can be tested thanks to the birth of monozygotic or identical twins born from the same cell (Behavioral neuroscience Web Ring Macalester College). Because children share 50% of their genes with each of their parents, this then becomes an interesting area of research because they could compare monozygotic twins who share 100 percent of their genes. This is good because they both obtained 50% of their parents genes plus they are identical twins so this gives a great window to research. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Network Policy Server and Remote Access The nature of our business requires us to have a flexible sales force. Because of that detail we need to be receptive to the needs of our mobile workforce. The most critical tool involved in their success is the ability to reliably connect and access our company networks. These connections can be from employees using company issued laptops or personal computers used from home or on the road. For the most part we have addresses the needs of our sales force on a case by case basis but going forward we really need to ensure we have a defined policy to streamline remote access. To accomplish this there are a few benchmarks we need to achieve. First of all the network has to be reliable or in more technical terms it needs to have high ... Working together the SHA and SHV agents monitor and validate the health of incoming network transmissions. Statement of Health, System Statement of Health, and System Statement of Health Response The Statement of Health or SoH is generated by each SHA and is communicated to the NAP to determine compliance. Every time there is an update of change with a SHA possibly through remediation the update is then also applied to the SoH. The NAP service will combine all of the various SoH s that a client generated during a remote connection and combine them into the System Statement of Health or SSoH which essentially defines the system health characteristics of the client computer. Lastly the System Statement of Health Response is generated by the NAP after compiling all of the remote user s system health characteristics. This information or SSoHR is sent to the enforcement point for access validation. NAP Enforcement The NAP system health characteristics give the server all of the essential health information to grant or deny access but we need a function to physically make that access decision. NAP uses enforcement point to carry out that function. There are a few different methods of NAP enforcement all of which have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
