Southwest Airlines Culture
Southwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines has earned many impressive attributes over the years. The first would be the
rise from a small market airline in Texas to becoming a top airline in the United States. During the
1970s, Southwest overcame legal troubles when Braniff and Texas International attempted to put
the company out of business by way of harassment. In 2016 Southwest Airlines is larger than both
previously mentioned companies. Another impressive aspect of Southwest is the personality and
positive attitude former CEO Herb Kelleher brought in the 1980s. He was unlike most upper
management professionals, being known for wearing Hawaiian shirts, pranking his workers, and
once arm wrestling an executive for the use of a slogan. Also, Kelleher ... Show more content on

First, the company needed to increase their prices. Although the airline wanted to strive for the
cheapest prices, if they would have implemented a bagging fee, they could have generated more
revenue. Instead of charging a large fee like the other airlines, they could have charged a $10 fee
and advertised for the cheapest baggage fees. Also, they could have increased their fee for
internet connectivity. People would probably be willing to pay more than eight dollars a device,
especially if their flight was longer. A small increase in prices would help the company with
profits, but they would also still be competing with their low prices. Another element to consider is
that the airline had many ideas and plans that were supposed to happen during 2014 and the future.
Making sure that the fleets and systems are continuing to be modernized and updated throughout
the years is very important in both staying competitive and operating at a low cost. Lastly,
Southwest needs to better utilize making projections. For example, the Rapid Rewards program
exceeded management s expectation and if there were better projections, then the company could
have better prepared for the large number of redemptions. If they were prepared for a larger
number, then they could have made some rewards cost more to lower the number of free ticket

Prokaryote Vs Eukaryotes Essay
With the rapid advance of the science and technologyпјЊthe exploration of organisms has been
gradually deepened. In biology, an organism is any individual existence that shows the properties of
life.( Miller, Kenneth. R, Levine, Joseph. S, 2010)[1] Every thing in the world is made by million
of organism. All the organisms have functions such as reproduction, growth, development and
maintenance, meaning an organismcan live independently on this planet which is every living thing
living in. Organisms can be classified into two groups which are the multicellular such as animals,
plants, and fungi and unicellular microorganisms such as bacteria, and archaea. These are also
known as prokaryote and eukaryote. A prokaryote is a unicellular organism... Show more content on

Archaea were originally classified as bacteria and were named archaebacteria since most of the
archaea are not isolated in the lab, and also archaea and bacteria are roughly the same size and
shape. With the great progress of science, scientists can through analysis of nucleic acids in order to
determine the cell is archaea or not. Different from prokaryote, eukaryotes are any kind of cell
that has cell nuclei and other organelles in the membrane. There are many different types of
eukaryotic cells, animals, plants and fungi. According to a biological article in Science magazine,
human beings are not really individuals, they are communities of organisms. ( McFall Ngai,
Margaret .J,1991 )[2] All animals consist of millions of eukaryotic cells. There are many different
parts of the cell such as nucleus, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, vesicles, Golgi apparatus,
mitochondria, cytosol, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane. It contains many different types of
special organelles that can perform all functions. Looking more closely at an animal cell and a
plant cell, the animal cell does not have cell walls and chloroplasts and has smaller

Advantages Of Biometrics
Nowdays, security and privacy is a major concern of our data that s why we can use biometric
techniques for identification and recognition of users for creating secure system. Biometrics refers
to the identification of humans by their characteristics or traits. A biometric system is a
technological system that uses information about a person (or other biological organism) to identify
that person .A Biometricssystem is a pattern recognition system that uses various patterns like iris
patterns, retina patterns and biological traits like fingerprints, facial geometry, voice recognition
and hand recognition etc. This paper deals with various biometric systems by defining their
advantages and disadvantages.

Using the human face as a key to security, biometric face recognition technology has received
significant attention in the past several years due to its potential for a wide variety of applications
in both law enforcement and non law enforcement. As compared with other biometrics systems
using fingerprint /palm print and iris, face recognition has distinct advantages because of its non
contact process. Face images can be captured from a distance without touching the person being
identified. The identification does not require interacting with the person. Face recognition involves
an evaluation of facial features. It identifies and verifies an individual from an digital

Paintball Essay examples
Paintball is a fast and furious sport. It is played on both a social and serious level by over 16
million people around the world
(Cooke,11). It is one of the fastest growing sports on the planet. Paintball s history, games, guns,
and safety are all part of the fun.
In 1970, James Hale, an engineer, invented and patented the first commercially successful paintball
gun. Paintball guns were first used by the National Forest Association to mark trees that would be
cut down. Then, it was used to mark cattle by cowboys. One night while sitting around a campfire,
one cowboy shot another and that is how the game of paintball got started.
This quot;splotchmaker quot; can rightfully claim to be the grandfather of modern paintball guns

Then, whoever has the best record wins the league. In a tournament, it is usually single elimination.
If your team loses, then they are done. If they win, then your team gets to keep moving on. When it
is finally down to two teams, they play for the championship. Whoever wins is the champion and
they get a prize. Sometimes, it is money (up to five thousand dollars), cases of paintballs, or free
entry into the next tournament.
There is a wide range of paintball guns on the market today. There are also various price ranges
to go along with the various types of guns. The first kind of gun is the pump action. This is the
least expensive of the three types of guns. It is made of hard plastic and very little metal. The
pump action gun costs between fifty to one hundred dollars and shoots about 100 to 150 feet.
This is a good gun for beginners or younger player because it is inexpensive and easy to use. Do
not expect to be able to compete in tournaments with this gun. The next and most popular type of
gun is the semi automatic. It will shoot as fast as you pull the trigger. These are good; reliable guns
made mostly of metal and very little plastic.
This gun costs between two hundred and one thousand dollars and is a lot more accurate than the
pump action gun. It shoots over 300 feet per shot. Most people use this gun when they play. To
make this gun last as long as possible, it should be oiled after every one

Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey
Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey
The Monkey is a short story written by Isak Dinesen. The story was published in 1934. The
Monkey is a form of gothic sublime. In this story, I encountered many elements that related to
magical realism as well as the sublime.
The Monkey has many magical elements. The beginning of the story mentioned a purple eyed
young fallow deer (109). The element appears to me as being a magical element rather than an
element of the sublime. Another magical element was the tortoise being more than one hundred
years old (109). A person knows that no tortoise is capable of living to be more than one hundred
years old. Aunt Cathinka says that she will give Boris her experience of life ... Show more content

According to Longinus, noble imagery is used to convey the sublime. Her luminous eyes met his,
and made him look away, and this dumb play was repeated twice over. (114). The sublime element
was an element of imagery. The woman and man s attention was caught by each other s appearance
that it took them a while to get back to what they were doing.
Edmund Burke characterized the sublime as causing astonishment. In The Monkey , Boris said he
could follow his aunts thoughts without looking at her (116). I feel that this element of sublime is
one of astonishment. The fact was so amazing that Boris was so close to his aunt that he could
follow what she was thinking without any sight of her around.
In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the sublime as beginning with a contemplated object
that is considered sublime when the attempt to represent it determines the mind to regard its
inability to grasp wholly the object as a symbol of the mind s relation to a trandscent order. (51).
Sublime literature has many elements that are hard to grasp on to fully. Sublime can be something
that will happen so fast when someone tries to remember what occurred, they cannot.
In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the structure of the sublime as divided into three
stages. The first phase is that the mind is determinate, habitual relationship with the contemplated
object. The second phase is experienced by the tearing of a

The Psychic Medium
The Psychic Medium
There are many types of psychic phenomena that exist. In this paper, I will discuss that of the
psychic medium. The term psychic medium refers to a person thought to have the ability to
communicate with the spirits of the dead or with agents of another world or dimension through
extra sensory perception or paranormal powers. While a medium will always be psychic, a psychic
is not always a medium. The main objective of a mediums work is to prove survival of the
human personality or spirit after death and to help the bereaved come to terms with their loss. The
ability of a psychic medium can have a life saving effect. However, due to the many fraudulent
practitioners trying to scam people out of their money by offering ... Show more content on

It all began when the Greek philosophers got into the habit of questioning nature, raising doubts
about everything. Sacred forms of experience were scorned and disparaged and eventually a
certain kind of science came to dominate our thinking; the old wisdom traditions were forced to
take a back seat.
Of course, it s easy to tote up the pluses of Science, which has freed us from ignorance and
superstition, cleared the way to mastering the forces of nature, extended life and made things
comfortable for the affluent in capitalist societies. On the other hand, according to the official view,
consciousness peeps out momentarily, and is destined to vanish forever after death. Science has
torn down the ancient myths, and made the implausibility of life after death an article of faith.
The effects of these phenomena have a great impact on human society. When a mother loses a
child it is always a tragedy, but when there are a lot of unanswered questions relating to his/her
death, the help of a medium can lead to or bring closure to the family, enabling them to move
forward. Most people mourning the loss of a loved one are in an extremely vulnerable state,
yearning for answers to questions that one can no longer answer. If we could definitively answer
these questions, the human race would be that much stronger.

The Rights Based Dispute Resolution
The issue in need of mediation involves a young federal government employee named Edith and a
senior member of her department named Tom. An unwanted sexual advance outside the office
towards Edith left Tom endlessly apologetic towards her. After the incessant apologizing left Edith
irritated and uncomfortable with Tom, she transferred to a different department. Now unhappy
with her new position, Edith has chosen to bring her issue to her departments conflict resolution
unit. Hoping to solve the issue once and for all and get back to a position she enjoys, Edith now
presents her problem to a mediator who will determine a proper course of action.
Solving conflicts from a rights based perspective involves a highly formal process. The case is ...

A more reasonable suggestion would be to use another dispute resolution method that is
administered by the company itself.
Another perspective to consider is a power based dispute resolution method. Power based
resolution involves an action one party takes without the knowledge of the opposing party in
order to achieve a desired outcome (35). Through this perspective, issues are decided by an
authoritative command (36). This authoritative command has authority over both parties and
makes a definite decision in favor of one party (36). Power based methods may also involve a
majority vote (37). A majority vote is usually used for policy disputes and provides a just, fair and
efficient method for resolving an issue (37).
If Edith and Tom s workplace were to resolve their issue using a power based dispute method, an
immediate superior of both parties would be chosen to decide in favor of one employee. This
method would prove to be unfair as the superior may side with the person he knows or likes
more, rather than look at the situation from an unbiased perspective. Edith may argue that
because Tom is a senior member of the group, the superior would more likely than not decide in
his favor. If the workplace chose to dispute the issue using the majority vote method, Edith s desire
to have the issue disputed confidentially would not be realized. Having the details of an issue this
personal spread among a workplace could have a

To model radioactive decay and half life
HYPOTHESIS
The trend will mimic the pattern of the half life of a radioactive material, with the same
approximate curve, because the M Ms with m showing will be approximately half of the total M
Ms at every half life, which is the same as decaying radioisotopes, with half the atoms disappearing
every half life.
MATERIALS
A packet of M Ms
A clean sheet of paper (A4)
A clean jar/cupcake cup
PROCEDURE
1.Copy the table from the criteria sheet into your workbook
2.Count the total number of M Ms in the container
3.Shake up the container to mix the M Ms around
4.Pour the container onto the clean sheet of paper
5.Count how many M Ms show the letter m facing upwards
6.Record this number in the table
7.Place only the M Ms showing the letter m back into the jar and dispose of the other M Ms
appropriately
8.Repeat steps 3 7 until there are no M Ms left

beta being an electron and gamma being the release of energy at the speed of life known as
gamma rays). In this experiment, the M Ms without m represent the decaying atoms, which are
launching themselves out to become more stable, and the repeats are the half lives, the M Ms
showing m are the atoms that are still in the element. Every period of time, 29.1 years, ВЅ the

Intro:
The argument comes up that the Protecting the Local Business Opportunity Act (PLBOA) as last
proposed in 2015 should be passed by congress and signed into law. We are against this and we as
a team are linking with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). This bill amends the National
Labor Relations Act to allow two or more employers to be considered joint employers for
purposes of the Act only if each employer shares and exercises control over essential terms and
conditions of employment and such control over these matters is actual, direct, and immediate.
Our first argument is that it is a good business strategy for the parent company to oversee and
assume responsibility of all subset operations. Which basically is overseeing the fair labor
relations, which results in happy employees and high productivity. Our second argument argues
that if a company determines your shifts, pay cap, and working conditions, regardless of if the
employee is directly employed by them, then it should be required to assume responsibility of
unionization caused by unfair labor practice, which can be directed back to human rights. Finally
our third argument the PLBOA undermines the employee s right to collectively bargain for better
working conditions, wages, etc. regarding labor relations. Our

Sunset Boulevard, directed by Billy Wilder
Film Noir is a fairly self explanatory name. French for Dark or Black Film , this style (not genre)
of film is pretty much summed up in those two words. These films started being made in a 1940 s,
Post WWII paranoia, with the threat of nuclear missiles looming over the heads of all United States
citizens, Hollywood included. This paranoia led to disillusioned attitudes and existential feelings,
which in turn were reflected in Film Noirs through things such as characters, with the two most
prominent types being hardened male protagonists and femme fatales. Also, the Darkness of Film
Noirs was not just a metaphor for the content of the film, but also a fairly literal description of the
visual style was like. Taking influence from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Joe leaves her mansion to try and show how he was his own person, she attempted
suicide, which made him come back to her and get tangled up in her web of control once more.
Near the end of the film, Joe comes to his senses once more and ends up getting shot by Norma
for it, because she believes that a celebrity is a star because nobody will abandon them, which Joe
had been trying to do. In short, Norma is an atypical, yet at the same time great example of a
Femme Fatale in Film Noir. Perhaps the biggest characteristic in Film Noir is the element that
gives it it s name: the visual style. Whether it be a detective story, a crime drama, or Sunset
Boulevard s dramatized look at behind the scenes Hollywood, film noirs are all shot in a very
distinct manner. The lighting is often single source, making heavy use of chiaroscuro, a high
contrast between light and dark, using things such as streetlights or venetian blinds to convey this
visual style. The environments are often portrayed as gritty streets, wet from rain and illuminated
primarily by streetlights, or claustrophobic looking rooms with amounts of smoke that would
trigger any working smoke alarm nowadays, depending on the location, to get across a pessimistic
attitude. Sunset Boulevard, despite it s name which could be interpreted as a pretty sight, definitely
shows a darker appearance of Hollywood. When Joe first sees Norma s mansion, he notices how

West Coast Fashions, Inc (WCF) was a large business, which dealt with men s and women s
apparel. One of their segments was Mercury Athletic Footwear. WCF wanted to dispose off this
segment. They just wanted to divest because they wanted to focus more on their core business and
move it up to the elite class.
John Liedtke was the Business Development Head at that time in Active Gear Inc. He had a clear
idea that acquiring Mercury will shoot up AGI s revenues for sure. It would also ensure an

According to the information in the case, Men s Athletic revenue grew more 40% over the prior
year and the average compound rate from 2004 2006 was of 29%, therefore the forecasted item
should be based on this assumption from the case of CAGR of 29%. This projection seems
conservative and it can be modified towards the expected 29% growth.
Men s Casual
Women s Athletic
This segmented shows a growth rate of 2,50% from 2007 2011. According to the information
provided in the case, the sales of this business line should be declining at 6,25% per year not
increasing. Therefore its sales should decrease in this percentage not increase as projected per
Liedtke.
Liedtke projected for this business segment, an average growth rate 7,98% (2007 2001). The case
indicates a growth from 2004 2005 of 13,5% per year . Therefore this can be somewhat a
conservative growth projection. Since this has been solid growth, this could be increased to
maintain the 13, 5% sales growth in the upcoming years
Women s Casual
Lietdke s projection assumed that this business line was going to disappear by the end of 2007
this is aligned with was its expected from Mercury management according to the facts stated in the
case (page 6). Given this information we can conclude that the Women s Casual as part of Mercury
revenue generator would disappear, therefore this projection seems reasonable if Mercury does not

Women And Girls Should Have Power Over Their Own Bodies
All women and girls should have power over their own bodies and the right to decide whether and
when to have children. Reproductive health is about safe pregnancy and childbirth, prevention and
treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and family planning and access to contraception. This
is the UN definition of reproductive rights, and is created based on UN s Millennium
Development Goals. The goals as well as this explanation are something all nations should thrive
towards. I will take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as
well as reproductive rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at
Norway, one being that I am myself from Norway, and can on some level speak based on my
own experience. The main reason however is that Norway has many times, and by many
different surveys, been rated the best country in the world to live in , and can therefore be seen as
a primary example on reproductive rights. I will take a look at the different policies put in place in
Norway, as well, as the tittle states what claims partners, familyand the Norwegian state have

The Shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation
The years following the American Revolution, better known as the Critical Period, were some of
the most vulnerable moments in the extensive history of the United States. The Critical Period is
infamous for a post war recession, disorganization and competition of states, as well as a total lack
of unity about the nation. The Articles of Confederation, ratified during the onset of this tumultuous
period, added new dimension to early Americans idea of national government. The Articles formed
a loosely united country under a highly restricted federal government. This apparent aversion of
strong central government was rooted in the former colonists fear of a sequel to their monarchial
horror that was England. Some believe that the Articles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

speaks to the injustices of taxation, and taxation was the main reason for Shays s Rebellion. Shays s
Rebellion caused that unjust and disorganized means of taxation further exemplifies the failure that

The History of Abortion
Abortion is a medical practice to terminate a woman s pregnancy in the first 3 months. The
history of abortion starts father before the pinnacle case of Roe v Wade in 1973. The supreme
court made it legal to get an abortion and this is seen as an important turning point for the
american health care policies for women. Before this court case to render it legal it had been
performed for thousands of years and in every society known. It was legal when settlers first came
to the united states before the Constitution abortionwas openly advertised and performed on a

Rather than opening to the real claim the American Medical Association (AMA) argued that
abortion was dangerous and immoral. The only way to get an abortion was when it was
necessary to save a woman s life and this would be a legal abortion. Criminalized abortion did not
affect the number of women that seeked abortion. There was an estimated 1.2 million illegal
abortions a year before Roe v Wade. Although this is uncertain due to the thousands of women
that suffered harm during these illegal abortions. Many women would try to induce abortion or
go to mal practitioners with primitive methods and in unsanitary conditions. Hospitals cared for
thousands of women that had illegal abortions that were now suffering terrible effects of
abortion. SOme women were able to have a private doctor in better conditions provide the safer
abortion procedure. During the 1967 to 1973 one third of the states tried to legalize abortions and
be rid of abortion laws. Although the right to have abortion in all states happened in 1973 when the
supreme court was able to strike down those laws. Roe v. Wademade it possible for women to get
safe and legal abortion from professional trained medical practitioners. This case came out of a
Texas state in which the law prohibited the use of abortion unless it was to save a woman s life.
Those laws forced women to lean to illegal abortions and

Different Cooperative Communication Schemes Like Relay...
Abstract
In this survey, we will discuss about different cooperative communication schemes like Relay
communication and Node cooperative system. Later on we will perform comparison between
conventional communication system and cooperative relay scheme based on power efficiency. We
will also discuss about various factors that will impact the efficiency of cooperative systems. We
will conclude with applications of cooperative communication in LTE advanced.
Cooperative communication
Technological convergence in telecommunications and networking has made it possible to bring
voice, data (internet) and other multimedia services over single channel. This has led to significant
increase in network resource demands especially for wireless networks. To address these
tremendous network demands we need to use communication resources efficiently i.e., through
Cooperative communications.
Cooperative communication system uses intelligent nodes or base stations that can consciously
help other nodes to transfer information from the source to the final destination with increased
spectral efficiency and extended coverage in case of Cellular Base stations.
Cooperation in the communication networks can be realized using Relaying and Node Cooperative
systems [1].
Relay communication system
In Relay system, first transmitter sends the data to the relay node and information received by the
relay node is forwarded to next node and finally to the destination receiver by following cooperation

Biblical Allusions In Beowulf
Beowulf is a poem written down and told in the Anglo Saxon era. It is an epic poem written by
an unknown author. An epic poem is long narrative poem dealing with the trial and achievements
of a hero or heroes. This epic poem is about the trial of a man named Beowulf who fights off
creatures and is king of the Geats. Beowulfis a primary epic because it starts in oral tradition and
eventually gets written down hundreds of years later. Beowulf was first poem to ever be written
down in old englishand it was translated to modern English by Seamus Heaney. It is believed
that Beowulf was originally written down by a Christian monk. This is because there are
Christian references all throughout the book even though the poem was originally spoken in a
pagan, Anglo Saxon way. Pagans are people who don t know of, or don t believe in the bible.

Sir Robert Peel and American Policing

Sir Robert Peel and American Policing The history of policing dates back several thousand years
ago when there was no order or peace and inhumane acts upon citizens was the norm with religious,
political, or military police acting as the law. Policing was unstable and unorganized. Citizens took
the law into their own hands and served as judge, jury, and executioner. There was not such a thing
as being innocent until proven guilty. If the community believed an individual was guilty of a crime
then the community would handle the offense themselves. American policing stems from the

The United States admired Sir Robert Peel s principals of policing and therefore adopted it to
incorporate into their legal justice system of law enforcement. The government tried to
incorporate Sir Robert Peel s Principals into different cities with no luck or gratitude. In 1838,
Boston became the first city to incorporate these principals and have the first organized policing
in the United States. In 1845, New York City followed suit. Soon thereafter, Philadelphia
followed suit but it did not follow the principals, destroying different forms of policing. Finally,
Philadelphia collaborated their policing style to be organized and uphold order by way of Sir
Robert Peel s Nine Principals. Sir Robert Peel, known as the father of modern policing, set the
foundation for organization and structure in modern day policing in London. The United States
followed behind shortly thereafter to enlist a police force for order, organization, and service. Peel
set up Peel s Nine Principals which the United States still abides by to this day. The father of
policing has helped our government to overcome harsh judgment, corruption, and harsh actions, and
has made it possible for citizens of this society to bond with local law enforcement. This has

It clearly validates that elitism is not contradictory to popularization and windsurfing is a
favourable demonstration of the above. After the victory of Lee Lai Shan at the 1996 Atlanta
Centennial Olympics, Hong Kong government invested a considerable amount of resources in
windsurfing. Judo can absolutely follow the track of windsurfing since some marvellous Judo
players are performing outstandingly in the international competitions; for example, YU Kin Ting
captured a gold medal in Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games. Promoting judo to Tier A, therefore,
helps the promotion of Judo in the community in fact, which simultaneously indicates that the
elevation of Judo is an essential and compulsory element in the process of popularization and the
road of Judo for all .
Judo, in alternative vision, is a special sport that highly emphasizing the moral spirit in respond to
the argument that Judo, as a physical activity, should focus more on the other aspects brought on by
sports, such as, health status enhancement, socio cultural issues, including globalization and
institutionalization of judo, rather than trophies and winning. One can argue that judo elitism alone
is a catalyst of all the issues mentioned above, which is even more effective than other sport events.

Comparison Of Sperm Whales And The Killer Whale

the most widest distributed whales in the world. The killer whale and the sperm whale both have
huge brains, but this study suggests why the killer whales have a significantly larger cerebellum

In the 1960 s, The Social Security Act, employer provided health insurance and the government had
taken responsibility in health insurance. The additions would provide insurance for the elderly
and less fortunate; these developing expectations would alter supply and demand (Getzen Allen,
2007). Understanding how the flow of funds falls in line with knowing what transactions take
place between sellers and buyers. It is best to also understand where the monies sources come
from, how the money flows throughout the system and how the funds are used; and how to
make the right choices based on if the resource of supplies in greater than the need to have the
product no matter what the cost will be; this process is known as elasticity or inelasticity (2007).
Examining how these behaviors and decision process are broken down into branches of
economics is known as microeconomics. All the components that allocate how decisions are made
for resources affects the need for supply and demand. Particularly, microeconomics deals with
market breakdown. An example can be when the market does not resourcefully arrange or
distribute services and goods to the consumer (2007). Inefficient organization of production will
result in an unsatisfied buyer being able to purchase their necessities. However, if a microeconomic
production is doing well, it will avoid difficult circumstances and profit in all aspects. In the text

Why The Dieppe Raid
The Dieppe raid was a devastating failure in terms of success of objectives. Hundreds of
Canadians lost their lives, landing crafts were destroyed, tanks were deserted during the
evacuation, and very few objectives were met. Despite being renowned as a disastrous event,
allied commanders gained invaluable knowledge for a full scale continental invasion and this
knowledge was applied to the planning of D day two years later. Behind the failure of Dieppe laid
a poor plan, insufficient support from aircraft and artillery, and deplorable communication. The
lessons learned and the knowledge gained from the Canadian raid at Dieppe in 1942 were essential
to the success of the invasion at Normandy in 1944.
The main cause of the failure at Dieppe was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the while, the sappers of the Royal Canadian Engineers would blast a path through enemy
obstacles and the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals would ensure smooth communications. The
Germans, anticipating the Dieppe Raid, had fortified the beach with a variety of obstacles.
Subsequently, Canada familiarized themselves with Germany s defenses, preparing themselves
for ways to thwart or oppose the defenses on the beaches of Normandy. At Dieppe, the Royal
Canadian Engineers were met with hidden mines and heavy gun fire that propelled the
Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers to acquire and implement petard shells to tanks, killing
approximately half the defenders at Normandy and causing 48 Germans to surrender.4 Canada
became knowledgeable about their enemy s defenses and developed menacing defenses of their
own prior to the invasion at Normandy, resulting in a favourable progression at Normandy that
led to the success at D Day. Canada s inferior technology to the German defenses at Dieppe
propelled Canada to improve their equipment, aiding in the success of D Day. Specifically, the
Churchill tanks at Dieppe were easily faltered by the aggressive German fire and immobilized due
to the rough condition of the cobblestone shingle banks and sea wall. The duplex drive (DD) and
Sherman tanks were then established, having the ability to swim to shore with no need of a craft to
deliver them.5 Directly

Why Animals Die Is Vital For Understand The Population
Summary
Statistics regarding The time and place of when Animals die is vital to understand the population
pronouncement. During migratory periods like winter, breeding, and also during migratory, the
when and where animals die is important for us to understand population regulations. In migratory
animals, mortality may prevail not only during the stationary periods but can also happen during
the migrational seasons. But, the relative significance of population limiting factors during different
periods of the year remains poorly understood, and previous studies mainly relied on indirect
evidence.
Here, we provide direct evidence about when and where migrants die by identifying cases of
confirmed and probable deaths in three species of long distance migratory raptors tracked by
satellite telemetry.
We show that mortality rate was about six times higher during migration seasons than during
stationary periods. However, total mortality was surprisingly similar between periods, which can be
explained by the fact that risky migration periods are shorter than safer stationary periods.
Nevertheless, more than half of the annual mortality occurred during migration. We also found
spatiotemporal patterns in mortality: spring mortality occurred mainly in Africa in association with
the crossing of the Sahara desert, while most mortality during autumn took place in Europe.
Our results strongly suggest that events during the migration seasons have an important impact on
the population

Essay about The Notorious Al Capone
The popular image of the 1920s is of an alcohol soaked, jazz enriched, and senseless society that
was full of crime. Morally minded citizens tried to solve the growing problem of drunkenness by
pushing their efforts to end this behavior. This crusade gained steam in 1920 when the US
outlawed the manufacture and sale of liquor which was amended into the Constitution. What was
supposed to end this wild behavior of mindless drinking and crime spawned new economic
problems and gang wars in major cities around America. What was known as the prohibition era
entrenched a network of organized crime with some of the most notorious minds and of these
included the most well known, Al Capone. Capone began to take over the Chicagoarea in 1925 as a

American citizens were also violating these drinking laws by going to, speakeasies, (Bootleg:

hidden buildings would be the major source of income for Capone during the years of
prohibition. Politicians, law enforcement and regular citizens would visit these establishments to
grab a drink then the next day fight for enforcement of prohibition. The corrupt enforcement of
these laws extended the longevity of this era and rose the power of Capone and his accomplices.
Capone was already rising in power in the 1920s but the 18th amendment fueled rise of violence
in Capone like yeast in bread. Knowing that law enforcement would crackdown on his illegal
business, he made sure local, state and federal officials were on his payroll to look the other
way. He virtually paid off every official in the districts where his breweries were set up. This
granted him and his breweries legal immunity. By bribing the crooked law enforcement in his
area, he could plan raids to destroy other rival gang s illegal establishments. Federal agents who
did not take bribes and continued to enforce the law were prevented by locals who tipped off
gangsters. Every year, Capone paid officials a hulking 15 million dollars but this money did

Banksy Exit Through The Gift Shop Essay
Banksy once said, Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. Banksy, the
director of Exit Through the Gift Shop, a documentary that goes through the heart of street art
strongly emphasizes that art is not about money, but rather about expression and passion. He
supports his argument mainly through his strong visual and audio tactics.
Visuals are much stronger than any other sense. A reoccurring factor that influences the viewer s
thoughts towards the argument is where Banksy focuses the video. Anytime an artist is shown with
his artwork, the artwork is centered rather than the artist themselves. Banksy s purpose is to show
that the artist will change and they do not matter as much, but the art will be remembered. If you ...

Banksy carefully positions the audio music throughout the entirety of the film. For instance in the
beginning of the film, art was being showcased one after another. Banksy placed the art so that it
changed with the beat of the music in the background. By doing this, he cause the viewers to
wait and anticipate for the next art that was about to show itself. The tactic was effective because
it pulled the viewers in and caused them to glance at the art and think about its meaning and
purpose. The song that was used, Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Richard Hawley, is an upbeat
song that creates a passionate feeling about art. It was not random that this song was chosen,
Banksy chose this song because its title supports his argument that the artists are taking over the
street to show their personal artwork that takes dedication and courage. A final audio tactic that
was used was whenever there was a clip with a certain mood behind it; Banksy would choose a
soundtrack that complements the emotion that he wanted to create. During suspenseful times,
Banksy would play a track that forces the viewer to watch closely with their heart beating rapidly,
one time after another, BOOM...BOOM. The whole purpose of the specific music used was to
further support Banksy s thoughts on what the true purpose of art is. He would only choose songs
that showed expression as a priority over money. However, whenever Thierry showcased his art,

Oedipus Self Identity Analysis
The implications of self identity are far ranging. The light we view ourselves in determines the
very basics of who we think we are, and what action we think we should take to fulfill our identity;
to make it flourish. Men build these identities on many different foundations. For one man might
say he builds it on the goodness of his heart, another on his career. Yet every foundation, save that
of Jesus Christ, has the tendency to crumble and fall apart beneath us. When the good man realizes
he has sinned; when the career of an old man fades away, their identities are no more. Oedipus, the
mighty king of Thebes, is such a man. In Sophocles Oedipus the King, Oedipus lacked the
unshakable identitythat can only be found in Christ, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The University of Denver published manual in 2012, categorizing how college students view
themselves into twelve areas. These twelve can be simplified into two basic groups: The
performance of an individual (Intellectually, athletically, occupationally, or otherwise), and their
relationships with others. Of these two groups, the latter has been more definitive in our society
today because media influences have put even greater stress on those who build their identity
on relationships. USA Today conducted a survey in 2014, revealing that almost all the college
students they interviewed have had a fear of being left out that has been generated by social
media. Because they have let these relationships define them, they are constantly placed in a
state of potential identity crisis. A relational problem with a group of friends or a partner could
lead to a serious breakdown of how that individual views themselves. Though not as prevalent,
the second group of characteristics based on performance can have an equally severe impact if it
is used to build an identity. Any number of events such as a loss of job, physical injury, academic
failure, failure to reach a goal, and old age can all tear that identity down. As we age, our mind and
body both deteriorate, and with this change can come a host of physical and mental shortcomings.
As the young adults of our nation construct their self identity on performance, they also build it on
their frail bodies which at some point will

The Texas Health And Human Services Commission
Overview
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is required by federal law to ensure
federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) are reimbursed no less than their Prospective Payment
System (PPS) rate for services provided in the Medicaid and CHIP programs (42 U.S.C. 1396a).
Prior to September 2011, Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) paid FQHCs a fee for
service rate and HHSC reimbursed FQHCs the difference between the rate paid by the MCO and
the FQHC PPS rate in quarterly wraparound payments. Pursuant to budget riders starting in the
2012 2013 General Appropriations Act, and continuing through the current appropriations bill,
HHSC Rider 62 (HB1, 84nd Regular Session, 2015), MCOs were required to pay the full PPS
rates to FQHCs up front. The stated intent of Rider 62 was to reduce HHSC administrative costs.
The administrative cost was associated with the Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership
(TMHP), an HHSC contractor, calculating and disbursing the wrap payment to each FQHC. By
moving responsibility for the wrap payment to the MCO, the administrative cost to HHSC was
eliminated. Rider 62 did not contemplate a reduction in appropriate FQHC utilization.
The FQHC PPS encounter rate includes the cost for all services FQHCs provide to Medicaid and
CHIP patients, including medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy. HHSC is required to set
MCO premium rates to sufficiently cover the costs of the FQHC reimbursement rate; that is done

Everybody loves Raymond is an American TV series show in the sitcom genre, created by Philip

practically similar to ВЁModern FamilyВЁ, showing both sites in a family house. For example,

Indeed, this is like that because the creators Christopher Lloyd Steven Levitan, made this TV

particular style of using more camera movements than the show of Everybody loves Raymond ,
that is more static. This dramatically movements of the camera makes the show seems like in a
face pace running all the time. They do faster close ups, zooms in/ out, tilting up/ down, and they
do faster movements of panning left/ right, to follow the conversation of the actors, which is

Types Of Thinking From Point Of Reference And Relationship
Regimens from point of reference and relationship are two focal types of thinking found in
numerous legitimate frameworks, particularly CommonLaw frameworks, for example, those in
England and the United States. Point of reference includes a prior choice being followed in a
later case in light of the fact that both cases are the same. Relationship includes a prior choice
being followed in a later case on the grounds that the later case is like the prior one. Contentions
from point of reference and relationship are normal for legitimate thinking. Lawful thinking
contrasts in various routes from the kind of thinking apply by people in their ordinary lives. It
much of the time apply contentions that people don t apply or that people apply in diverse
ways. Point of reference is a decent sample of this. In individual thinking we don t regularly
respect the way that we chose one path in the past as raising some assumption that we ought to
choose the same route later on. Obviously there can be exceptional circumstances that have this
impact 2somebody may have depended on what we did some time recently, or may have had their
desires raised that we would do as such once more yet missing these unique contemplations we don
t view ourselves as being submitted later on to settle on the same choice. It is constantly open to us
to rethink a choice and alter our opinions on the off chance that we no more think our unique
judgment was right. Law obviously is not the only one in

Nursing Case Study Phentermine
Introduction
In the 1990 s, phentermine was marketed in combination with fenfluramine as Fen Phen. The
combination therapy was subsequently well documented to lead to valve abnormalities resulting in
aortic valve replacements, as well as pulmonary hypertension, in patients younger than expected.
This led to its ultimate removal from the market in 1997. 1 3 However, phentermine alone was
deemed safe and continued to be sold as a weight loss aid, either on its own or in combination with,
other medications.4 There are no known reports of ischemia induced by phentermine alone or other
associated weight loss agents. Particular consideration should be given to patients who present for
surgery and anesthesia who have previously been prescribed phentermine. We describe a case of
phentermine induced myocardial infarction in a young female who was previously healthy.

angiographies were normal. Further investigations for the etiology of those events, including
toxicology for cocaine abuse and a hypercoagulable state, were negative. The authors concluded that
due to the absence of cardiovascular risk factors, the appetite suppressants were responsible for the
myocardial infarctions in those two patients. In our case, the only identifiable cardiovascular risk
factor for this otherwise healthy, young woman was tobacco use. Therefore, we suspect that her use
of the appetite suppressant, phentermine, may have accelerated coronary atherosclerotic disease,
thus precipitating her acute coronary

American Youth Culture
The end of the World War II marked the beginning of a new era, not only for America but for the
entire world. In the United States, the end of the war was celebrated and hope for the future began.
America s future looked bright even though there still was uncertainty with the threat of the Soviet
Union. A distinctive youth culture emerged during the postwar era. Also the suburbs were
considered a popular place to live. It was a socially conservative time. Genderroles for men and
women were clearly defined. This era s emphasis was guided upon social conformity and family.
Kelley stated that the most popular comics of the Golden Age were the teen humor comics, most
notably the Archie comics (11). After the war superheroes declined, and a comic book seal of
approval was created. This seal made sure that comics were created wholesome, appropriate for the
youth culture and in good moral standing. There was to be no signs of homosexuality, perversion,
sex before marriage or disrespect to authority or the mention of alcohol and drugs. If Superman s
goal was to defeat the Nazis, then Archie s goal was to ask Betty to the big dance (Kelley 11).

many examples of these in Comics and Cartoons II (71 76). In Going, Going, Gown Veronica
finds out Betty had the same dress as her couture Paris one. She immediately demands her father
to fix the situation. He solved the problem by giving Betty $50 to buy another dress. When Archie
figured out both had the same dress and laughed at the style of it, Betty bought a new one while
Veronica had no choice to listen to her Father because he had spent $300 on

Ghandi Essay
In 1869, Mohandas K. Gandhi was born in northwest India. When he was a young Man, he
traveled to England to receive his college education and law degree. Upon returning to India he
set out to change how the West was colonizing and industrializing his country, and set life to a
new sort of technique that would change India, and give a new perspective, and shed light on
Indian culture, and civilization. His techniques revolved around passive and calm responses
instead of wild and violent responses to the British. His term satygraha meant truth and firmness
which was a method of passive resistance to provoke a response. This is how Gandhi received
respect and honor from his followers, and the people of Indian civilizations. He... Show more

uncivilized, ignorant and impassive, that it is not possible to induce them to adopt any changes.
He also states that civilization is that mode of conduct which points to man the path of duty. The
Gujarati equivalent for civilization means good conduct. In some of the primary sources Gandhi
compares the mind to a restless bird; the more it gets the more it wants, and still remains
unsatisfied. Then he state s that the more we indulge our passions the more unbridled they
become. Gandhi talks about how his country has remained the same throughout the years, and has
had no system of life corroding competition. He talks about how the Indian people have had the
same types of cottages in their former times, and how their education has remained the same
throughout the years. Gandhi also states that It was not that we did not know how to invent
machinery, but our forefathers knew that, if we set our hearts after such things, we would become
slaves and lose our moral backbone. He believed that people should only do what they could with
there hands and feet. He wanted people to live independently and to follow their agricultural

Louis Riel s Treatment Of The Insane Essay
I am born 1835 and am a physician and a superintendent from the Toronto Lunatic Asylum. I have
had 10 years of the treatment of the insane. When I had encountered Riel, he imagined that he
would go to Saskatchewan and he would gather such a big force so that he would become the
monarch of Saskatchewan. I think that no sane man would think of such things. He had travelled
between Ottawa and The United States as well as knowing the powers of Britain. For him to think
that he would be able to train a successful army out of untrained Saskatchewanpeople as well as
believing that he would divide the country into seven divisions would not be normal with a man
with this understanding. He also is a Roman Catholic and among them, he went among endeavoring
to conciliate them to get them educated on the schemes that he had and says that he wants to
dispose the pope.
I also have a source of several other thing of Riel s youth. Bishop Tache has shown me letters from

His father s death caused Louis excessive grief. My wife and I brought him from college to our
home to console him, but he was broken hearted, inconsolable. I saw that his profound grief
affected his mind which was manifested by the exaggerations of an eccentric religion; he threw
himself into an excess of piety and held religious views which I found unreasonable. My wife
noticed it too and said he became very melancholy . After that, I was told that Louis Riel had still
remained solitary even after a long time after his father had died. Riel had hallucinations as well
as telling people that he looked like Louis Riel s twin brother and that Louis Riel had drowned in
the Mississippi river. This shows that as Louis Riel was so filled of sorrow that saying that he
supposedly drowned in the Mississippi river might have driven him on the verge of

The Problem Of Homelessness
Cities increasingly grapple with homelessness, while facing budget cuts to various services, but
the failure to tackle homelessness creates more problems. While there are homeless people who
are on drugs, some are there because housing is expensive and they have no reliable sources of
income. Homelessness may result in the city spending more on welfare in a never ending cycle
without finding a solution to homelessness. There are various factors associated with the risk of
homelessness, including individual factors like those fleeing domestic abuse, and even those who
can longer earn a living because of health conditions and disabilities. The problem of homelessness
is further compounded when the homeless suffer mental health issues and alcohol or drug
dependence (Benston, 2015). Homelessness is a problem that affects even the youth, and
stakeholders ought to work together to tackle the problem, as city officials, and residents are the
audience who should be concerned with the problem at the local level.
Proposed solution Sometimes personal struggles cause people to be homeless while those who try
moving away from unstable lifestyles have few options, this may further be complicated if they are
discriminated like those who identify with the LGBT groups. Identifying the homeless youths,
including the runaways is potentially challenging, but when it is possible to reach them it helps to
improve access to affordable housing services. While people may view the economic causes

Application Of Science And Technology
With the constant development of technology over the last few decades, there has been a constant
increase in the demand of services by the human population. This has resulted in increased devotion
of resources in the application of science and technology and hence overall increase in the need of
better gadgets and technology. Over the ages, the increase in demand for the large scale production
has resulted in forcing the manufacturing companies to outsource its intellectual property (IP) to

To avoid such attacks the system should be resilient to external Trojan attacks. This paper
briefly discusses the concept and evolutions of Hardware Trojans, followed by their
classification and finally deals with the techniques which are available to detect and counter the
actions of Hardware Trojans. Literature Review The present decade has experienced a rapid
growth in the production of electronic devices. These devices have surely increased the
accessibility and comfort but they are also subject to security issues. The increase in security of
such electronic facility has been a necessity with the introduction of hardware circuits which
tamper their behavior. A Hardware Trojan is a malicious, undesired, intentional modification of an
electronic circuit or design, resulting in the undesired behaviour of an electronic device when in
operation. It is like a back door that can be inserted into hardware a foothold that an adversary can
leverage to attack a system [1]. A hardware Trojan is considered to be an intentional modification in
the physical structure of the IC which can render the IC to be either functionless or malfunction.
Such conditions can result in disastrous outcomes when it comes to applications of high level
security and military usage. A hardware Trojan can either use the existing signals in an IC and
corrupt or alter them, hence damaging the data and commands and in turn resulting in improper
execution of the hardware. It can also

Letter To Danbury Baptist Rhetorical Analysis
The Separation of Church and State
The central idea is that church and state should not be considered mutual. In the article, Letter to
Danbury Baptist, Thomas Jefferson respectfully rejects the Danbury Baptist pursue to making their
religion the only religion known to state. He also explains that the separation of church and state is a
part of the first amendment and it is one that we are going to keep and adhere to. Another article,
First Amendment to the US Constitution it states the first amendment and all the freedom we have
as Americans. An image, No Union Upon Any Terms shows how religion is not part of state.
Therefore, church and state should be separate.
In the Letter to Danbury Baptist, the author Thomas Jefferson develops and refines the central idea
of separation between church and state by explaining the importance of keeping a good
relationship between himself and the Baptist people but also standing firm on the importance of
the first amendment. The danbury Baptist people wanted to change the division of church and
state but Jefferson used his rhetoric to help explain to the people that the separation of church and
state is good for all men and all religions. Jefferson states, religion is a matter which lies solely

Research Paper On Beetroot
Fruits and vegetables are often credited as powerful performance enhancers that are completely
natural and help people increase their performance levels. Beetroot is among those natural
ingredients that are packed with power. According to many researchers, Beetroot juice can act as a
serious energy drink because it contains nitrates.
Beetroot juice is a low cost solution that triggers the body into action. It produces nitric oxide in
the body which causes vasodilation. This allows the body to get more blood to the muscles
therefore increasing the athletic performance. Some experts also suggest that it improves the
function of mitochondria therefore allowing it to produce more power by using less available
oxygen.

Abstract
In the following paper, the various consequential effects of divorce upon children and
adolescents and their development will be examined. The main purpose of this review is to
determine the effects of the effects of the growing epidemic of divorce, what is happening to our
children when they confront the reality of divorce, how we can plan for the future where growth
is redirected by divorce, and how the world may prepare for a population where over half of
children will experience divorce. No matter the stage or direction of development, divorce may
have an effect on the child s natural path of growth psychologically. However, with the help of
many different studies that range from religious adjustment, to physical health, to a father s well
being in relation with a child s well being, this review pinpoints the most crucial elements of divorce
in the modern day and the subsequent effects upon children s psychological development.
Impact of Divorce on Children and Adolescents
Divorce is a decided arrangement of a married couple, whose original intentions were to stay
married until death do them part, to separate and break the ties that held their marriage together. In
the past 50 years, due to decline of strict religion, economic tensions, and a looser society, the social

Book Of Tolls Essay
The Book of Kells is one of the most beautiful and mysterious surviving medieval manuscripts,
and it is prominent for its extreme decoration. It comprises of four Gospels in Latin created on
vellum in a bold, as well as, professional version of the writing referred to as the Insular majuscule
that St. Jerome completed in 348 AD. 1 The manuscript is intermixed with readings from the from
the earlier Old Latin translation. The book contains 340 folios currently measuring approximately
330 x 255 mm that was trimmed and the edges and gilded in the course of rebinding in the 19th
century. The habitation of origin of the Book of Kellsis usually credited to the scriptorium of the

The art of the Book of Kells is a complicated synthesis of Christian iconography, derived from the
Mediterranean world, and the northern European predilection for brilliant colour and abstract
pattern. In the religious scenes, abstract values dominate at the expense of naturalism, imbuing
the images with a detached, visionary quality. The bulk of the painting, however, appears to be
as much decorative as religious in content. The book has a broad palette of colors with purple,
lilac, red, pink, green, as well as, yellow being the colors greatest frequently used in the writing.
The lavish illumination of the program of the book is far better than any other enduring insular
gospel book. There are ten persisting full page illuminations including two evangelist pictures,
three pages with the four evangelist symbols, a carpet page, a minuscule of the Virgin Child, a
minuscule of Christ enthroned, a minuscule of the Arrest of Jesus, and the Temptation of Christ.
There are thirteen existing full pages of decorated text including pages for the first few words of
each of the Gospels. 9 There are numerous pages where only some of the text is decorated.

The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Medea

Tragic Hero in Euripides Medea
Aristotle cites that, A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall.
Consistent to Aristotle s characteristics of a tragic hero, the tragic hero must fit the requirements
of being noble and employed in a high standing position of society. There should be a tragic flaw
that ultimately leads to his downfall, and those reading the play must feel pity for this character as
he goes through necessary changes as a result of his flaw. Aristotle illustrates a tragic heroas one
who falls from grace into a state of acute misery. In Euripides Medea, the tragic hero is Jason, a
man of noble birth who falls from being honored and respected due to a flaw in his character,
that flaw being adultery. His adultery leads to terrible outcomes, the deaths of many people, and
his loss of all the things he loved. His character is an excellent example of the heroes who rise
high, then ultimately fail due to their own nature. By the end of the play he realizes his errors
and becomes negligible. Some may argue that Medea is the tragic hero in the play, but this
reasoning is flawed because Medea has no single flaw, she has exuded a sadistic nature from the
start, from her actions involving the Golden Fleece to her killing her own offspring. Jason suffers
from the fatal flaw of adultery that ultimately destines him for ruin, making it is clear that he serves
as the tragic hero in Euripides

Psychological Theories Of Behavioral Finance
Behavioural Finance
Introduction
Behavioural finance is a relatively new area of evolving research in finance. Behavioural finance
seek to combine behavioural and cognitive psychological theory with conventional economics and
finance to get a better understanding for why individual investors make irrational financial
decisions.
According to Sewell (2007), Behavioural finance is the study of the influence of psychology on the
behaviour of financial practitioners and the subsequent effect on markets. The science focuses on
the effects of individual investors making decisions based on hunches or emotions.
Ritter (2003, p.429), describes behavioural finance is based on psychology which suggests that
human decision processes are subject to several cognitive illusions. These illusions are divided into
two groups as illusions caused by heuristic decision process and illusions rooted from the adoption
of mental frames grouped in the prospect theory (Waweru et al., 2008, p.27)
People may make predictable, non optimal choices when faced with difficult and uncertain
decisions because of heuristic simplification. Behavioral biases, abstractly, are defined in the same
way as systematic errors are, in judgment (Chen et al, 2007).
Behavioral finance theories, which are based on the psychology, attempt to understand how the
psychological variables (heuristics, prospect, and herding) and perceived risk behaviour (Risk
Perception, Risk attitude and Risk Propensity) influence individual

Analyzing The Origins Of The Dutch Armies And Its First...
Countermarching is the military maneuver in which rows of infantry take turns advancing and
firing upon an enemy, only to be replaced by the rank behind them which had already reloaded.
The maneuver would allow ranks of infantry to establish a constant base of fire while involving a
greater proportion of rifle bearing soldiers at a single given time. The deadly practice saw its first
applications in late 16th centuryJapan and later developed independently in the midst of the Dutch
Revolt in Western Europe. Western European countermarch stemmed from humble and classical
origins, but would grow to be the status quo used by every major militarypower in Europe by the
end of the 17th century. To fully grasp the importance of this development,... Show more content on

During the siege of Middleburg in 1572, the Spanish implemented water defenses that prevented
any the effective use of siege equipment by the Dutch. The Spanish also exploited their
competitive advantage in open combat away from Dutch waterways, and in open combat crushed
Louis of Nassau s army at Mook on the 14th of April 1574. Fighting between the army of Flanders,
which had just under 100,000 men by the end of 1580. The combination of Dutch Naval superiority
and the Army of Flanders superiority on the ground meant that no meaningful victory could be
achieved. The wars remained costly for both governments with the Spanish defaulting on war debts
in 1575, but with the dutch unable to exploit their sudden advantage because of a tired and
ineffective military. In order to finally reunite the low countries, newly appointed Maurice of Nassau
would have to embark on a series of military reforms that could see influence expanded into the
landlocked south, away from the comfort of the ocean and waterways of the north.
Early military reformers had a great deal of difficulty reforming the status quo, as military generals
and members of the intellectual community demonstrated a great deal of inertia. As military
thinkers and philosophers began to explore newly translated ancient texts, they ran into a great deal
of intellectual backlash. In a particularly potent example, Thomas Digges, an Englishmen who
served in the armies of the Dutch republic, writes in his

Personal Leadership Reflection
With a million ideas racing continuously over and over in my head, once again like many times
before, my struggle would present itself of not being able to write those ideas down on paper.
Years of nursing experience, and more recently managing the nursing informatics department,
carrying out ideas that would advance the flow of information and improve processes came so
easy for me; yet it was so difficult to present this in writingto the leadership group in our facility. To
confidently complete a walk through in each department in our hospital with the leadership,
verbalizing the changes that would take place was second nature for me. This walk through
demonstrated how the changes would improve not only the flow of information but also bridge
each department to function in unity. Understanding what needed to take place and following
through bringing about positive changes I was comfortable in performing, however, expressing
this in written format was something I needed to development considering my position as manager
of my department. To receive approval on any request for change, we were required to write our
proposalas a professional improvement (PI) project. The proposal would include, the reason for the
change, objectives, stakeholders involved, and set a timeline with target end date. The day would
come when I would begin my literacy development journey. Writing a professional improvement
proposal is one of the most important moments in my literacy development

Outsourcing Of The United States
According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to reduce costs
by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally
(Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce costs and improve productivity. In the
1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first began looking for alternatives to increase their profits
and increase the production of their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to
expensive to make in the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive,
and that is why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons for
outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge, focusing on their
core business practices, and being closer to their resources. Gaining access to new markets
happens because the company is moving production abroad, and they are in a whole new area.
When they begin production in this area, the people of that country are opened up to that new idea.
Also gaining global knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company
being in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices, customs,
language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices then they can offend the
citizens of that country, and then their company will not be as successful. If a company decides to
outsource, they also can focus on their core

  • 2. Southwest Airlines Culture Southwest Airlines Southwest Airlines has earned many impressive attributes over the years. The first would be the rise from a small market airline in Texas to becoming a top airline in the United States. During the 1970s, Southwest overcame legal troubles when Braniff and Texas International attempted to put the company out of business by way of harassment. In 2016 Southwest Airlines is larger than both previously mentioned companies. Another impressive aspect of Southwest is the personality and positive attitude former CEO Herb Kelleher brought in the 1980s. He was unlike most upper management professionals, being known for wearing Hawaiian shirts, pranking his workers, and once arm wrestling an executive for the use of a slogan. Also, Kelleher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, the company needed to increase their prices. Although the airline wanted to strive for the cheapest prices, if they would have implemented a bagging fee, they could have generated more revenue. Instead of charging a large fee like the other airlines, they could have charged a $10 fee and advertised for the cheapest baggage fees. Also, they could have increased their fee for internet connectivity. People would probably be willing to pay more than eight dollars a device, especially if their flight was longer. A small increase in prices would help the company with profits, but they would also still be competing with their low prices. Another element to consider is that the airline had many ideas and plans that were supposed to happen during 2014 and the future. Making sure that the fleets and systems are continuing to be modernized and updated throughout the years is very important in both staying competitive and operating at a low cost. Lastly, Southwest needs to better utilize making projections. For example, the Rapid Rewards program exceeded management s expectation and if there were better projections, then the company could have better prepared for the large number of redemptions. If they were prepared for a larger number, then they could have made some rewards cost more to lower the number of free ticket ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prokaryote Vs Eukaryotes Essay With the rapid advance of the science and technologyпјЊthe exploration of organisms has been gradually deepened. In biology, an organism is any individual existence that shows the properties of life.( Miller, Kenneth. R, Levine, Joseph. S, 2010)[1] Every thing in the world is made by million of organism. All the organisms have functions such as reproduction, growth, development and maintenance, meaning an organismcan live independently on this planet which is every living thing living in. Organisms can be classified into two groups which are the multicellular such as animals, plants, and fungi and unicellular microorganisms such as bacteria, and archaea. These are also known as prokaryote and eukaryote. A prokaryote is a unicellular organism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Archaea were originally classified as bacteria and were named archaebacteria since most of the archaea are not isolated in the lab, and also archaea and bacteria are roughly the same size and shape. With the great progress of science, scientists can through analysis of nucleic acids in order to determine the cell is archaea or not. Different from prokaryote, eukaryotes are any kind of cell that has cell nuclei and other organelles in the membrane. There are many different types of eukaryotic cells, animals, plants and fungi. According to a biological article in Science magazine, human beings are not really individuals, they are communities of organisms. ( McFall Ngai, Margaret .J,1991 )[2] All animals consist of millions of eukaryotic cells. There are many different parts of the cell such as nucleus, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, vesicles, Golgi apparatus, mitochondria, cytosol, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane. It contains many different types of special organelles that can perform all functions. Looking more closely at an animal cell and a plant cell, the animal cell does not have cell walls and chloroplasts and has smaller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using the human face as a key to security, biometric face recognition technology has received significant attention in the past several years due to its potential for a wide variety of applications in both law enforcement and non law enforcement. Face images can be captured from a distance without touching the person being identified. The identification does not require interacting with the person. • 5. Paintball Essay examples Paintball is a fast and furious sport. It is played on both a social and serious level by over 16 million people around the world (Cooke,11). It is one of the fastest growing sports on the planet. Paintball s history, games, guns, and safety are all part of the fun. In 1970, James Hale, an engineer, invented and patented the first commercially successful paintball gun. Paintball guns were first used by the National Forest Association to mark trees that would be cut down. Then, it was used to mark cattle by cowboys. One night while sitting around a campfire, one cowboy shot another and that is how the game of paintball got started. Then, whoever has the best record wins the league. In a tournament, it is usually single elimination. If your team loses, then they are done. If they win, then your team gets to keep moving on. When it is finally down to two teams, they play for the championship. Whoever wins is the champion and they get a prize. Sometimes, it is money (up to five thousand dollars), cases of paintballs, or free entry into the next tournament. There is a wide range of paintball guns on the market today. There are also various price ranges to go along with the various types of guns. The first kind of gun is the pump action. This is the least expensive of the three types of guns. It is made of hard plastic and very little metal. The pump action gun costs between fifty to one hundred dollars and shoots about 100 to 150 feet. This is a good gun for beginners or younger player because it is inexpensive and easy to use. Do not expect to be able to compete in tournaments with this gun. The next and most popular type of gun is the semi automatic. It will shoot as fast as you pull the trigger. These are good; reliable guns made mostly of metal and very little plastic. This gun costs between two hundred and one thousand dollars and is a lot more accurate than the pump action gun. It shoots over 300 feet per shot. Most people use this gun when they play. • 6. Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey The Monkey is a short story written by Isak Dinesen. The story was published in 1934. The Monkey is a form of gothic sublime. In this story, I encountered many elements that related to magical realism as well as the sublime. The Monkey has many magical elements. The beginning of the story mentioned a purple eyed young fallow deer (109). The element appears to me as being a magical element rather than an element of the sublime. Another magical element was the tortoise being more than one hundred years old (109). A person knows that no tortoise is capable of living to be more than one hundred years old. Aunt Cathinka says that she will give Boris her experience of life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Longinus, noble imagery is used to convey the sublime. Her luminous eyes met his, and made him look away, and this dumb play was repeated twice over. (114). The sublime element was an element of imagery. The woman and man s attention was caught by each other s appearance that it took them a while to get back to what they were doing. Edmund Burke characterized the sublime as causing astonishment. In The Monkey , Boris said he could follow his aunts thoughts without looking at her (116). I feel that this element of sublime is one of astonishment. The fact was so amazing that Boris was so close to his aunt that he could follow what she was thinking without any sight of her around. In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the sublime as beginning with a contemplated object that is considered sublime when the attempt to represent it determines the mind to regard its inability to grasp wholly the object as a symbol of the mind s relation to a trandscent order. (51). Sublime literature has many elements that are hard to grasp on to fully. Sublime can be something that will happen so fast when someone tries to remember what occurred, they cannot. In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the structure of the sublime as divided into three stages. The first phase is that the mind is determinate, habitual relationship with the contemplated object. The second phase is experienced by the tearing of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Psychic Medium The Psychic Medium There are many types of psychic phenomena that exist. In this paper, I will discuss that of the psychic medium. The term psychic medium refers to a person thought to have the ability to communicate with the spirits of the dead or with agents of another world or dimension through extra sensory perception or paranormal powers. While a medium will always be psychic, a psychic is not always a medium. The main objective of a mediums work is to prove survival of the human personality or spirit after death and to help the bereaved come to terms with their loss. The ability of a psychic medium can have a life saving effect. However, due to the many fraudulent practitioners trying to scam people out of their money by offering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all began when the Greek philosophers got into the habit of questioning nature, raising doubts about everything. Sacred forms of experience were scorned and disparaged and eventually a certain kind of science came to dominate our thinking; the old wisdom traditions were forced to take a back seat. Of course, it s easy to tote up the pluses of Science, which has freed us from ignorance and superstition, cleared the way to mastering the forces of nature, extended life and made things comfortable for the affluent in capitalist societies. On the other hand, according to the official view, consciousness peeps out momentarily, and is destined to vanish forever after death. Science has torn down the ancient myths, and made the implausibility of life after death an article of faith. The effects of these phenomena have a great impact on human society. When a mother loses a child it is always a tragedy, but when there are a lot of unanswered questions relating to his/her death, the help of a medium can lead to or bring closure to the family, enabling them to move forward. An unwanted sexual advance outside the office towards Edith left Tom endlessly apologetic towards her. After the incessant apologizing left Edith irritated and uncomfortable with Tom, she transferred to a different department. Now unhappy with her new position, Edith has chosen to bring her issue to her departments conflict resolution unit. A more reasonable suggestion would be to use another dispute resolution method that is administered by the company itself. Another perspective to consider is a power based dispute resolution method. Power based resolution involves an action one party takes without the knowledge of the opposing party in order to achieve a desired outcome (35). Through this perspective, issues are decided by an authoritative command (36). This authoritative command has authority over both parties and makes a definite decision in favor of one party (36). Power based methods may also involve a majority vote (37). A majority vote is usually used for policy disputes and provides a just, fair and efficient method for resolving an issue (37). If Edith and Tom s workplace were to resolve their issue using a power based dispute method, an immediate superior of both parties would be chosen to decide in favor of one employee. This method would prove to be unfair as the superior may side with the person he knows or likes more, rather than look at the situation from an unbiased perspective. Edith may argue that because Tom is a senior member of the group, the superior would more likely than not decide in his favor. If the workplace chose to dispute the issue using the majority vote method, Edith s desire to have the issue disputed confidentially would not be realized. As far as in text citations go, remember it is (author, year published). Intro: The argument comes up that the Protecting the Local Business Opportunity Act (PLBOA) as last proposed in 2015 should be passed by congress and signed into law. We are against this and we as a team are linking with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). This bill amends the National Labor Relations Act to allow two or more employers to be considered joint employers for purposes of the Act only if each employer shares and exercises control over essential terms and conditions of employment and such control over these matters is actual, direct, and immediate. Our first argument is that it is a good business strategy for the parent company to oversee and assume responsibility of all subset operations. Which basically is overseeing the fair labor relations, which results in happy employees and high productivity. Our second argument argues that if a company determines your shifts, pay cap, and working conditions, regardless of if the employee is directly employed by them, then it should be required to assume responsibility of unionization caused by unfair labor practice, which can be directed back to human rights. Finally our third argument the PLBOA undermines the employee s right to collectively bargain for better working conditions, wages, etc. regarding labor relations. Our ... • 12. Sunset Boulevard, directed by Billy Wilder Film Noir is a fairly self explanatory name. French for Dark or Black Film , this style (not genre) of film is pretty much summed up in those two words. These films started being made in a 1940 s, Post WWII paranoia, with the threat of nuclear missiles looming over the heads of all United States citizens, Hollywood included. This paranoia led to disillusioned attitudes and existential feelings, which in turn were reflected in Film Noirs through things such as characters, with the two most prominent types being hardened male protagonists and femme fatales. Also, the Darkness of Film Noirs was not just a metaphor for the content of the film, but also a fairly literal description of the visual style was like. Taking influence from... When Joe leaves her mansion to try and show how he was his own person, she attempted suicide, which made him come back to her and get tangled up in her web of control once more. Near the end of the film, Joe comes to his senses once more and ends up getting shot by Norma for it, because she believes that a celebrity is a star because nobody will abandon them, which Joe had been trying to do. In short, Norma is an atypical, yet at the same time great example of a Femme Fatale in Film Noir. Perhaps the biggest characteristic in Film Noir is the element that gives it it s name: the visual style. Whether it be a detective story, a crime drama, or Sunset Boulevard s dramatized look at behind the scenes Hollywood, film noirs are all shot in a very distinct manner. The lighting is often single source, making heavy use of chiaroscuro, a high contrast between light and dark, using things such as streetlights or venetian blinds to convey this visual style. The environments are often portrayed as gritty streets, wet from rain and illuminated primarily by streetlights, or claustrophobic looking rooms with amounts of smoke that would trigger any working smoke alarm nowadays, depending on the location, to get across a pessimistic attitude. Abstract In this survey, we will discuss about different cooperative communication schemes like Relay communication and Node cooperative system. Later on we will perform comparison between conventional communication system and cooperative relay scheme based on power efficiency. We will also discuss about various factors that will impact the efficiency of cooperative systems. We will conclude with applications of cooperative communication in LTE advanced. Cooperative communication Technological convergence in telecommunications and networking has made it possible to bring voice, data (internet) and other multimedia services over single channel. This has led to significant increase in network resource demands especially for wireless networks. To address these tremendous network demands we need to use communication resources efficiently i.e., through Cooperative communications. Cooperative communication system uses intelligent nodes or base stations that can consciously help other nodes to transfer information from the source to the final destination with increased spectral efficiency and extended coverage in case of Cellular Base stations. Cooperation in the communication networks can be realized using Relaying and Node Cooperative systems [1]. Relay communication system In Relay system, first transmitter sends the data to the relay node and information received by the relay node is forwarded to next node and finally to the destination receiver by following cooperation ... During migratory periods like winter, breeding, and also during migratory, the when and where animals die is important for us to understand population regulations. In migratory animals, mortality may prevail not only during the stationary periods but can also happen during the migrational seasons. But, the relative significance of population limiting factors during different periods of the year remains poorly understood, and previous studies mainly relied on indirect evidence. Here, we provide direct evidence about when and where migrants die by identifying cases of confirmed and probable deaths in three species of long distance migratory raptors tracked by satellite telemetry. We show that mortality rate was about six times higher during migration seasons than during stationary periods. However, total mortality was surprisingly similar between periods, which can be explained by the fact that risky migration periods are shorter than safer stationary periods. Nevertheless, more than half of the annual mortality occurred during migration. We also found spatiotemporal patterns in mortality: spring mortality occurred mainly in Africa in association with the crossing of the Sahara desert, while most mortality during autumn took place in Europe. Our results strongly suggest that events during the migration seasons have an important impact on the population ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet every foundation, save that of Jesus Christ, has the tendency to crumble and fall apart beneath us. The University of Denver published manual in 2012, categorizing how college students view themselves into twelve areas. These twelve can be simplified into two basic groups: The performance of an individual (Intellectually, athletically, occupationally, or otherwise), and their relationships with others. Of these two groups, the latter has been more definitive in our society today because media influences have put even greater stress on those who build their identity on relationships. USA Today conducted a survey in 2014, revealing that almost all the college students they interviewed have had a fear of being left out that has been generated by social media. Because they have let these relationships define them, they are constantly placed in a state of potential identity crisis. A relational problem with a group of friends or a partner could lead to a serious breakdown of how that individual views themselves. Though not as prevalent, the second group of characteristics based on performance can have an equally severe impact if it is used to build an identity. The Texas Health And Human Services Commission Overview The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is required by federal law to ensure federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) are reimbursed no less than their Prospective Payment System (PPS) rate for services provided in the Medicaid and CHIP programs (42 U.S.C. 1396a). Prior to September 2011, Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) paid FQHCs a fee for service rate and HHSC reimbursed FQHCs the difference between the rate paid by the MCO and the FQHC PPS rate in quarterly wraparound payments. Pursuant to budget riders starting in the 2012 2013 General Appropriations Act, and continuing through the current appropriations bill, HHSC Rider 62 (HB1, 84nd Regular Session, 2015), MCOs were required to pay the full PPS rates to FQHCs up front. The stated intent of Rider 62 was to reduce HHSC administrative costs. The administrative cost was associated with the Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP), an HHSC contractor, calculating and disbursing the wrap payment to each FQHC. By moving responsibility for the wrap payment to the MCO, the administrative cost to HHSC was eliminated. Rider 62 did not contemplate a reduction in appropriate FQHC utilization. The FQHC PPS encounter rate includes the cost for all services FQHCs provide to Medicaid and CHIP patients, including medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy. HHSC is required to set MCO premium rates to sufficiently cover the costs of the FQHC reimbursement rate; that is done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Medea Nafisa Asad Honors English II Melie Period 5 Tragic Hero in Euripides Medea Aristotle cites that, A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall. Consistent to Aristotle s characteristics of a tragic hero, the tragic hero must fit the requirements of being noble and employed in a high standing position of society. There should be a tragic flaw that ultimately leads to his downfall, and those reading the play must feel pity for this character as he goes through necessary changes as a result of his flaw. Aristotle illustrates a tragic heroas one who falls from grace into a state of acute misery. In Euripides Medea, the tragic hero is Jason, a man of noble birth who falls from being honored and respected due to a flaw in his character, that flaw being adultery. His adultery leads to terrible outcomes, the deaths of many people, and his loss of all the things he loved. His character is an excellent example of the heroes who rise high, then ultimately fail due to their own nature. By the end of the play he realizes his errors and becomes negligible. Some may argue that Medea is the tragic hero in the play, but this reasoning is flawed because Medea has no single flaw, she has exuded a sadistic nature from the start, from her actions involving the Golden Fleece to her killing her own offspring.
