Teaching Methods For An Educator
The ability to read is the utmost significant factor behind a child s educational outcome, thus for an
educator to impart the skills of literacy on to a student is the most important aspect of primary school
education. The art of reading is a multifaceted process that expands on spoken language, it requires the
mastering of a progressive set of skills which nurture a phonemic and Phonological awareness, builds
a proficiency in decoding competencies and requires the capability to implement comprehension
strategies. An insight into these skills are outlined within a framework comprised of six dynamics
commonly referred to as the big six . These foundation elements are essential in the reading process,
and the means in which these skill sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doing this helps a teacher plan learning experiences that best harmonises with the needs of the child
(Winch, Johnston, March, Ljungdahl, Holliday, 2014). It is good practise to retain these assessment
results as the commencement of a running record on each child. Utilising running records enables
teachers to secure a comprehensive and accurate assessment of a student s reading ability (Department
of Education and Child Development, 2012). As this assessment information follows the progression
of a student s reading development throughout their primary years it helps identify children that are
struggling early in their journey (Department of Education and Child Development, 2012).
Determining a student s level of phonological awareness, does the student hear, analyse and
manipulate the sounds and syllables of spoken words? Do they understand speech is a combination of
separate words? Does the child distinguish the individual sounds or phenomes that form syllables?
Can they identify rhyming words? Do they blend or exchange sounds to make new word
combinations? These are the questions educators need to firstly find answers too and secondly teach in
order to tutor children in reading (Reid Lyon, 2008). It is crucial to build upon a child s phonemic
awareness, if children struggle to isolate the sounds of spoken word, it will be difficult for them to
relate these sounds to their represented letters (Fellows

The title of the book on which I am doing a critical book review is called, When helping hurts, How to

The Horrendous Suffering Faced by Dave Pelzer
American author, Dave Pelzer, grew up in San Francisco with his mother, father, and brothers. Dave s
mother was not like a normal mother, Dave s mother, Catherine Pelzer, beat and neglected Dave. Dave
also had 4 brothers that lived with him and his parents: Richard, Ron, Stephen, and Kevin. Dave s
father lived with them, but was rarely home. While Catharine did not neglect Dave s brothers she did
not deserve custody of Dave s brothers, because of her abusive ways towards Dave (Pelzer).
Dave s mother, Catharine Pelzer, was the mother of Dave and his brothers and the wife to Stephen.
Catharine was an alcoholic, who was also mentally unstable, and who by no means was in the position
to care for children. Catharine neglected Dave to an extreme extent; many of the things she did to
Dave could have easily killed him (Pelzer). Dave was no longer considered a child he was a slave, a
child called it. Dave s brothers Richard, Ron, Stephen, and Kevin lived with the family, but they were
not treated the same way as Dave was treated. The brothers were treated as any other kid should be
treated, they would be able to eat with the family, play outside, watch television, or do things other
children would do. While their brother, Dave, was not allowed to do any of these things. As Dave s
brothers watched the abuse, they did nothing to stop it (Pelzer). Dave s father, Stephen, was a
firefighter and an alcoholic. In the beginning Dave s father was home all the time, but as time went on

The King In Oedipus The King
In the popular Greek tragedy Oedipus the King, the plot shows how a single bad trait can lead to the
fall of a once great man. The author Sophocles portrays the story of the titular where a hero rises to
fame after solving the city of Thebes great riddle. The solution to the riddle frees Thebes of its curse
from the Sphinx and relieves the city s misery. Although Oedipus is praised and crowned king for
freeing the city, he is not entirely a good man. Oedipus is very arrogant, which causes him to make
several bad decisions. Through the story of Oedipus the King, Sophocles warns readers not to let
arrogance blind them from reality, for it will eventually result in tremendous suffering.
At the beginning of this Greek drama, Oedipus is blind due to his arrogance. For example, when the
city is in shambles and the Chorus marches around the altar praying to the gods, Oedipus walks in and
says to them, You pray to the gods? Let me grant your prayers (245). He believes he can answer the
people of Thebes prayers. Additionally, Oedipus is convinced he has god like powers because of his
role as king and his previous success in solving the Sphinx s riddle. His past leads him to believe he is
always right, which is exactly what happens when he encounters the prophet. Oedipus says, Blind, /
lost in the night, endless night that nursed you! / You can t hurt me or anyone else who sees the light /
you can never touch me (425 28). Oedipus attacks the prophet with insults for saying that he was the
one that killed Laius. Again, Oedipus reveals his exaggerated sense of his own abilities and believes
that it is impossible for him to be wrong. Oedipus considers himself to be one of the fortunate who are
able to see the light (427) and cannot be steered in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, in King
Oedipus case, his high ego leads to his great demise.
As this drama progresses, Oedipus begins connecting the dots and restoring his vision. When Jocasta
explains how her husband died to Oedipus, he says, I have a terrible fear the blind seer can see (823).
Oedipus is now suspecting that the prophecy is true because of the similarities between Laius death
and the man he had killed. He begins to stop worrying about his ego and

Comparing The Silk Road Trials And Triumphs
Silk Road Trials and Triumphs Traders prospered from the Silk Road, but they had to overcome the
many dangers along the route before they could gain their wealth. These challenges, ranging from
human to natural, made trading along the Silk Road a more difficult task. In order to be successful,
merchants were required to be innovative and adapt to the conditions. Much of the Silk Road route is
over trying terrain, such as high altitude mountains and arid deserts that stretch for miles. The
mountain ranges along the trail include Tienshan, Hindu Kush, Mongolian Altai, and Pamir , and
traders had to search for passes to get through them because they were too steep and tall to climb over.
Even so, the passes were not much safer than the peaks, such as an account of a traveler through one
of these passes: The barrier formed by the Suspended Crossing is such that it cannot be easily
traversed. There is a path that is 20 inches wide, that leads forward for a length of twelve miles,
overlooking a precipice whose depth is unfathomed. Travelers passing on horse or foot hold on to one
another and pull each other along with ropes. When animals fall, before they have dropped half way
down the chasm they are shattered in pieces; and when men fall, the situation is such that they are
unable to rescue one another . If a fear of heights is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to cross mountain passes, travelers built characteristic bridges and plank roads along cliffs by
perforating holes on mountains . To stay warm, they could fashion protective clothing out of one of
the items they were trading: silk . These innovations may not have been the most effective methods
compared to modern times, but they worked enough to make mountain paths on the Silk Road a viable
option for travel through the treacherous

Modern Art And African Art
There is a clear connection between modern art and African art. African symbols, shapes, and
ideologies influence paintings, textiles, and sculptures. However, not many discuss comics within the
traditional definition of art. The medium of comics boomed after the Great Depression with
Superman. A time of hardship, the Depression left people needing something to believe in. Since the
beginning of time people have used storytelling and mythology to explain the world around them.
After the Depression with the birth of Superman, superheros were no different. Superheros are modern
mythologies, a phrase coined by Richard Reynolds. In his book, Super Heroes: A Modern
Mythologies, he refers to Roland Barters essay Myth Today, which points out that mythology
represents culture as nature to explain the political and social anatomy of societies. Superheroes
contribute to this concept by using science and magic to create a sense of mythical wonder. Reynolds
uses the example of Thor, who is a god trapped on earth in the body of a scientist with a walking stick
as punishment from his father Odin. Throughout the comic book universe there are heroes that not
only draw from Norse mythology, but Native American, Hindu, and Greco Roman mythology as well.
One has to wonder if there is a connection between superheroes and African mythology. The Yoruban
orishas of Nigeria, which parallel the mythologies listed previously contains different deities each
representing an aspect of nature can be

Japan was better prepared for World War II
After Japanese victories in the First Sino Japanese War, the Russo Japanese War, and World War I,
Japanese experience and confidence in military operations began to soar. As early as 1905, Japan had
identified the United States as their primary threat and began preparations to win a war against it.
Despite Japan s vast combat experience and military buildup prior to the Pacific War, their prewar
preparation was only slightly more robust than the United States and this edge was eaten away by time
for three different reasons. First, Japan began the Pacific War with slight technological advantages
over the United States and believed they could use higher quality technology to defeat the quantitative
numbers of a larger foe. Second, Japan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believed there would be little need for survivability since the maneuverability would prevent it
from being hit in the first place. It also fit perfectly with their problem of scarce raw materials. This
design would require significantly less material to build and furthermore would use less fuel to power
it and extend its range. By the eve of the Pacific War, these aircraft constituted, as a group, some of the
most advanced aviation technology in the world. For speed and maneuverability, for example, the
Zero was matchless; for range and speed few bombers surpassed the Mitsubishi G3M; and, in the
Kawanishi H8K, the Japanese navy had the world s best flying boat. (Evans and Peattie, p312) As
Krepinevich contends in our reading, from 1932 1938 the United States allowed its combat aircraft
inventory size to remain unchanged, however, it still maintained a variety of platforms. Rather than
invest scare resources in maintaining a large inventory of rapidly obsolescing planes, the service
wisely concentrated on keeping up with technology. (Krepinevich, p14) Technology was changing at

The Effect Of Test On Test Performance
Study Citation: Kaye, D., Kirschner, P., Mandler, G. (1953). The effect of test anxiety on memory span
in a group test situation. Journal Of Consulting Psychology, 17(4), 265 266. doi:10.1037/h0054617
Introduction and review of prior research:
The effect of anxiety on test performance has been investigated in several researches but this
particular study tried to find out the relationship between anxiety level and test performance by
conducting the experiment in a group test situation. In previous studies, the effects of test anxiety level
on the individual performance of typical intelligence tasks were shown. In this study, researchers
investigated the same effect but in a group test situation and assumed people with low anxiety level
would outperform those with higher anxiety level.
Design:
This is a non experimental design, more accurate, a correlational design, as subjects took a
questionnaire on anxiety and some of those who were identified as Low Anxiety and High Anxiety
were chosen and were given a memory span test afterwards. Participants were all from introductory
psychology courses which might be a confounding variable as there would be a possibility of good
participant effect and bad participant effect, due to the fact that they might have certain knowledge of
memory tests. Therefore, they were not told anything about the connection between the anxiety
questionnaire and the memory test session in order to eliminate discrepancy in results. An important

Aged Trial Balance Report
Efficiently operating an organization or business requires upper level department heads to collaborate
cohesively in efforts of meeting organizational demands. Although departmental managers work
independently, they contribute collectively. In this paper, I will discuss the collaboration of the finance
director and the department administrator and how they collaborate to carry out organization goals. I
will explain contributions the finance manager and the administrator make in efforts of reducing
accounts receivable days. I will also describe bonuses paid based on profitability.
Reducing accounts receivables requires strategic financial planning. Finance managers and the
department administrators role in this process is crucial. The finance manager would be assignment
with generating reports; frequently, in efforts of reducing accounts receivable days, an aged trial
balance statement is created. The aged trial balance report is a document that lists accounts in their
respective order. The administrator would be able to create a plan that prioritizes accounts from oldest
to newest; also, the administrator would formulate a system for medical billing staff to ensuring codes
for services are correctly entered to avoid rejections and ensuring services are properly classified as
charitable or uncollectible debts. The financial statements generated by the ... Show more content on

Essay on Edgar Allen Poe s Fall of House of Usher
Bipolar disorder affects many people today as well as in the time of Edgar Allen Poe when it was then
called melancholia. Poe was diagnosed with this disorder and it plays an integral role in his story, The
Fall of the House of Usher (1839). This story is heavily influenced by this disorder or its presently
associated symptoms and also describes one way that bipolar disorder can genetically affect an entire
family. To fully understand a story involving this disorder, it is cardinal to know the exact definition of
bipolar disorder, as well as its symptoms and previous aliases. The Oxford English Dictionary defines
bipolar disorder as: a form of mental illness characterized by one or more episodes of mania typically
accompanied by one or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, Usher suffered much from a morbid acuteness of the senses; the most insipid food was alone
endurable; he could wear only garments of certain texture; the odors of all flowers were oppressive;
his eyes were tortured by even a faint light; and there were but peculiar sounds, and these from
stringed instruments, which did not inspire him with horror. (Poe). This heightened sensitivity is
evidence of the mania stage associated with bipolar syndrome. Also, a possible episode of mania
would be the scene involving Usher s sister coming from the dead. This could surely be seen as an
hallucination and sign of a manic episode. To recap, Usher has symptoms from the hypomania, mania,
and depressed stages meaning the ailment that he suffers from is not melancholia, but instead a
modern case of bipolar or manic depression disorder. One reason for a character in a story having a
particular disorder would be that the author has real life experience with it. Such is the case with
Edgar Allen Poe and The Fall of the House of Usher . Poe most definitely suffered from what would
now be considered a form of manic depression disorder. During his final year on Earth, he showed
signs of mania, constantly relocating to various cities (Meyers 244). Also during this year, he is
reported as saying to a friend named Frederic Thomas: You will be pleased to hear that I am

The Influence Of Honey In Ancient Culture
Honey is the flower transmuted, its scent and beauty transformed into aroma and taste (Rosenbaum).
Honey has been known since the beginning of times. Its viscous, peculiar sweetness and its
distinguishable orange crystalized color makes honey be unique in its type. If my memory does not
fail me: I met honey for the first time so many years ago when I was a kid. I still remember those
times when I used to eat it by putting some of it on my finger. At home, honey never lack. For
example, I personally use it with some toasted bread while my dad uses it to sweeten his teas. These
are only a couple of ways of using it, however, there are so many more uses within the culinary art.

Character Analysis of Yossarian in Catch 22
Yossarian is the main character of Catch 22, and one of just a few characters that get fleshed out
during the story. Yossarian represents many of the themes and ideas of Catch 22, and provides a
character that most people can sympathize with. Yossarian is continually worried about dying but at
the same time continues to fly his missions so someone else doesn t have to fly his for him. Yossarian
thinks he is sane while everyone else is crazy; however everyone else thinks the exact opposite. He is
also seen as different because of name, as nobody has heard it before. The battles of life versus death
and sanity versus insanity are some of the things that define Yossarian while he himself represents the
psyche of a soldier during war.
Yossarian is described as a big burley Assyrian man. His appearance makes him markedly different
from the rest of the people in his squadron and is one of the ways that he is seen as an outsider by the
rest of the squadron. In addition to his appearance, his name also makes him stand out, as it is
completely different from everyone else s and no one has ever heard it before Yossarian himself.
These differences alienate him from the rest of the squadron, save for a few of Yossarian s close
friends, and make it seem like Yossarian is special in some way, even though it is revealed that he is
not really much different than the rest of the squadron.

Major Key Roles Of Social Media In The 21st Century
Social Media plays a huge and major key role with our lives as human beings in this day and age of
the 21st century. The role that social media plays is that millions of people could connect and meet all
over the world on one website or one app to meet others of the same interest, and other topics that they
enjoy or love such as video games, reading, board games, mathematics, etc. . Horrifically, over the
years criticism began on the dawn of social media has caused a spread of rumors, fear, and disgust into
these social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, parents worry about
their children s protection and fear that one wrong post could spell disaster for the family of the child.
Families have proposed that adult link protection should be linked onto children s social media to

media by age groups and types of cultures, 2. Have people not be able to post their location or address

Google Glass Essay
Google Glass is without a doubt a very strong and innovative product with a high potential for growth.
However, following the initial launch, negative perceptions of these augmented reality glasses gave
view to a few major issues holding them back from success. Many of these problems occurred
primarily due to lack of security and privacy. Concerns during the initial release were caused by the
fact that the wearer can film or take pictures with out the subject(s) knowing or giving consent. As a
result, negative consequences, such as speculation against Google, along with customer assault and
isolation began to make face. Customers were targeted and harassed for supporting the product, which
worked to both stunt market growth, and lower Google s reputation. Not soon after, social media sites
took wind of the escalating situation and assisted in a major backlash against the new product.
Overall, the failure of the Google Glass explorer program directly resulted from the prevalence of
these unforeseen privacy issues. Removing the camera feature from the device would ultimately
eradicate that concern, while they would continue to provide all the other functions that wearables are
known for. Unfortunately, this action would diminish the devices value, market reaction would
initially be negative, and ultimately sales may not take off as planned. Without the ability to quickly

Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum Of William Shakespeare s...
Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum in William Shakespeare s Othello Where does it end? Where did
it begin? On a continuum, it is impossible to distinguish. Eve Sedgwick coined the idea of the
Homosocial continuum. Her argument involves gender, class, and hierarchical relationships. In
William Shakespeare s, Othello, many character pairings can be analyzed in relation to Sedgwick s
theories. The relationships that most interestingly relate to the homosocial continuum are Desdemona
and Emilia, Iago and Roderigo, and Iago and Othello. First, Desdemona and Emilia have a homosocial
relationship that is easier to understand by today s standards based on Sedgwick s assertions.
Sedgwick states, The apparent simplicity...of the continuum, [for women], would not be so striking if
it were not in strong contrast to the arrangement among males (506). Emilia and Desdemona s
relationship, while certainly blurring the lines at points, would not be questioned even today based on
Sedgwick s claim that women are so much more free to move along the homosocial continuum. It is
typical for women to care for one another and desire one another s company, including physical touch
and intimate dialogue. At Desdemona s death bed, Emilia arrives to discover the situation and cries
out,
Emilia. Out, and alas! that was my lady s voice. Help, help, ho! help. O lady, speak again! Sweet

Sdla Case Control Study
EVIDENCE BASED Increasing physical demands and training requirements for athletes competing in
overhead sports or activities have the potential to create injuries to the glenoid labrum and can cause
shoulder pain and dysfunction.1 Superior labral anterior posterior (SLAP) lesions can occur either in
isolation or in conjuncture with a broad spectrum of other shoulder injuries, such as rotator cuff tears,
glenohumeral instability, and isolated biceps tendon ruptures.1 The detection of SLAP lesions has
developed with the improvements in diagnostic imaging, but physical examination tests remain
nonspecific.1 Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to review three different research studies
pertaining to the diagnostic accuracy of SLAP lesion injuries. In a case control study performed by Oh

different physical examination tests for the diagnosis of type II SLAP lesions. Sixty eight individuals

Political Allegory Of Casablanca
Casablanca
Examine Rick s moral growth from self interest to engagement and sacrifice. Compare this shift to the
one made by the American public in terms of willingness to go to war to oppose fascism in other
countries.
Throughout this romantic drama, Casablanca , many changes regarding character s attitudes and
decisions take place; an example is Rick s moral growth from self interest to engagement and
sacrifice; a shift that can be compared to America s willingness to go to war to oppose fascism in other
countries. During WW2 many Europeans sought exile in America once the Nazis started to take over
control; in order for this to happen, exit visas are required and as Rick eventually has the chance to
leave, his apathetic attitude is tested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rick s shift from self interest to engagement has a motivation as well as a purpose, so did the
American public in 1942 when they broke their political neutrality and decided to join the war.
Initially Rick doesn t drink with anyone and announces that he sticks his neck out for nobody ;
however towards the end of the film we see a more sociable and committed man in the war against the
Nazis. Furthermore Renault had previously mentioned Rick s efforts in the Spanish and Ethiopian
civil war; In 1935, you ran guns to Ethiopia. In 1936, you fought in Spain, on the Loyalist side. This
portrays Rick as more caring person and slightly changes our previous views of an uninterested man
in politics. This passage is important to understand the allegory and encouragement to join war.
Mentioning these previous efforts would therefore be compared to America s involvement in WW1;
therefore isolation in this war would be critical due to their previous influence in the European
continent. Although this passage is also important to empathy with those American refusing to let their
country join war as they had previously been affected economically and physically. Despite these
allegations made by Renault, Rick continues showing his disinterest towards politics; I don t like
disturbances in my place. Either lay off politics or get out! he said once he heard a discussion at his
café. At this point we know that Rick is clearly a self interested man who doesn t care about anything
but his business. Not only that, but politics don t seem to be of his interest despite his previous
political actions. Rick was born in America therefore his character is a representation of that country; a
country with a public who similarly opposed any involvement in events that did not require their
sacrifice. As Lazlo comes in scene, his strive is soon admired and

Comprehensive Sexual Education or Bust
In the united states, there are two schools of thought when it comes to educating students on human
sexuality. Sexual education is a broad term that applies to the teaching to information from basic
contraceptive use, biological reproduction, the spread of infectious disease, and sexuality. One type of
sexual education is referred to as Comprehensive Sexual Education. Comprehensive Sexual Education
is curriculum rooted in health and life skills, that strives to teach students medically accurate
information on healthy relationships, development, side effects and benefits of birth control methods,
abstinence lifestyles, and how to avoid unwanted sexual advances. The other type of sexual education
is referred to as Abstinence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consent is not the only lacking aspect in Sex Education throughout the country, a lot of important
ideas and information is debated and left out of the classroom due to fears of stepping on toes, or
touching on age old ideas about sex and religion. Over the years many have argued that parents
personal liberties must be protected when it comes to educating their children. In most states these
liberties are presented in a manor that allows for the religious opposition to sexual education. Robert
P. George and Melissa Moschella, academics from Princeton recently published an article titled Does
Sex Ed Undermine Parental Rights? in the New York Times, about the idea that Sexual Education
does in fact violate parental rights and liberties. Here, in a selection from the piece, even the secular
side of the argument against Sex Ed in the classroom is visible, True, the state needs to protect
children from abuse and neglect. It is also true that the state has a legitimate interest in reducing
teenage pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. But it is not abuse or neglect to
protect the innocence of preteenage children or to teach one s children more conservative, as opposed
to more liberal, moral values. Nor is it wrong or unreasonable to limit the state s control over what one
s children learn and think about sensitive issues of morality...Turning a classroom into a mandatory
catechism lesson for a contested ideology is a serious

Essay Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales
Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales
Numbers do not exist. They are creations of the mind, existing only in the realm of understanding. No
one has ever touched a number, nor would it be possible to do so. You may sketch a symbol on a paper
that represents a number, but that symbol is not the number itself. A number is just understood.
Nevertheless, numbers hold symbolic meaning. Have you ever asked yourself serious questions about
the significance, implications, and roles of numbers? For example, Why does the number ten denote a
change to double digits? Is zero a number or a non number? Or, the matter this paper will address:
Why does the number three hold an understood and symbolic importance?
My interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I offer what I call the Utility Based Approach, which attempts to explain the prominence of
three by noting its usefulness in telling fairy tales. Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that
three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale
whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex
mental capabilities.
Background/Historical Context
Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that
happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number
that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is
not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three
starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum
of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). Whether this is realized consciously or
subconsciously, it is an undeniable truth that seems hard to avoid. Indeed, this idea could be what gave
rise to the spiritual significance of three.
Three has always played an important part in the Judeo/Christian beliefs, as Ken Bassett outlines in
his Pastor Note No. 138. First, and probably most

Essay on An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art
An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art
Archaeologists often rely on material traits to define culture groups. In the Southwest, one such group,
the Fremont culture, has to a large degree defied classification. Inhabiting an expansive territory in the
northern reaches of the Southwest, the Fremont sometimes look archaeologically very similar to their
neighbors, the Anasazi, and to groups living on the Plains and in the Great Basin. The origin and
eventual demise of the Fremont culture has been the subject of much debate, as has the question of
whether the Fremont even constitute a culture. More than any other term variable seems to describe
the Fremont best. Several traits appear more distinctly Fremont including a certain ... Show more

Researchers have provided a number of temporal ranges for Fremont habitation, with the most
encompassing being 2000 500 B.P. (Madsen and Simms 1998).
The origin of the Fremont has been a disputed subject. Some researchers argue for an in situ
development from the Desert Archaic culture (Aikens 1970; Marwitt 1970; Husted and Mallory 1967).
Others have also suggested an in situ development but with a great deal of influence from the Anasazi
to the south (Ambler 1966). Archaeologists have proposed a migration origin with an influx of people
from the Virgin Anasazi region (Gunnerson 1969) or from the northwestern Plains (Aikens 1966).
Researchers base these suppositions on Fremont material traits that are similar to those of people from
outside of the Fremont region, such as tipi rings, shield pictographs, projectile point forms, moccasins,
and pottery manufacturing techniques. None of these theories seems to adequately explain the
variation that exists within the Fremont region (Madsen 1979).
The patterning of Fremont material traits has led archaeologists to outline a number of regional
variants. The most commonly used model divides the Fremont area into five sub regions (Marwitt
1970) (Figure 2) based on differences in architecture, ceramics, figurine and rock art styles, and means
of subsistence. Traits do not stay contained within sub regions; rather they

Beaded Christmas Observation
Pictured above is a hobby that I am interested in trying, beaded Christmas ornaments and these are
way different than from the ones in the late 1960 s. There are kits available at stores and online of

make these ornaments. I like the way they are displayed on their own arm hooks, they look so dainty
and festive and the colors can be changed for the holidays and not necessary ornaments for Christmas.
The person who did these ornaments is creative and of course has the time to do something they love
and not consider it work. By the way the room is situated this person is very organized as well. It also

Public Policies Of The Canadian Government
Throughout Canadian history, a responsible government depended on the act of the nation working
together to apply appropriate public policy. William Lyon Mackenzie King, the prime minister of
Canada in the 1920s (and again in the 1930s) once said, Where there is little or no public opinion,
there is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later becomes autocratic government. This is
true even almost 100 years later. A democratic society operates in relation to the voices of the nation.
The Canadian government consists of many sectors to enforce this particular style of policy making,
including the House of Commons, the Senate, the Cabinet, and of course, the prime minister. Many
citizens may argue that these important sectors of government are aspects reflecting true democracy.
On the other hand, some citizens might argue that the prime minister has significant control over
Parliament alone, sometimes without the need for other voices. Government responsibility lies in the
heart of the prime minister and can have significant control over different policy areas if he or she
feels the need to do so. This often flies in the face of a democratic society. This paper will argue that
the Prime Minister of Canada has too much power over Canadian public policy because he or she
maintains party discipline, controls Cabinet ministers, and has power over what bills are passed in
Parliament. These factors determine that the Prime Minister indeed continues to control government

Although the development and implementation of tech prep education programs have been in process
since the initiation of the Carl D. Perkins Act Amendments of 1990, misconceptions about tech prep

education program is a combined secondary and postsecondary program that

Although the integration of academic and vocational education offers one strategy for developing the
academic and technical competence of students, it does not constitute tech prep. Tech prep requires
not only new courses and a sequenced core curriculum, but courses that take into account the learning
styles of the majority of students, incorporating concepts like that of contextual learning. According to
Hull (1993), contextual learning occurs only when students process new information or knowledge in
such a way that it makes sense to them in their frame of reference (their own inner world of memory,
experience, and response) (p. 41). Thus, the applied academics approach to learning, which involves
the teaching of solid academic content by means of hands on and vocational applications, follows the
contextual learning concept in that it provides for learning in the context of life experiences building
on what the students already know and applying learning in the context of how the
knowledge/information can be used in the context of exploration, discovery, and invention (ibid.). One
of the goals of applied academic curriculum is that it should enable students to transfer knowledge
from academic content to vocational applications and from school to the workplace.
To ensure a curriculum that will prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies
necessary for work in a technologically

the current affairs around the globe and the growing threat of the use of weapons of mass destruction

Movement of illegal imports and the exchange of money can be completed with virtually no
restrictions depending on the place and time due to relaxed import and export laws, lack of
enforcement controls, and electronic system networks. Furthermore, many governments seem to be
unwilling or unable to implement control over the development, storage, or use of these weapons.
More problematic are the shifting ideologies and international relationships that have occurred over
the decades following the cold war. Today there is little doubt terrorist groups or states would use
weapons of mass destruction to further their interests if they were available. The 9/11 Commission
Report documented that Usama bin Laden in an interview with ABC television had called for Muslims
to kill Americans without regard to their status claiming all Americans were targets. He had also
attempted to purchase weapons grade enriched uranium for over $1.5 million dollars in an effort to
make an atomic bomb. Although the material later turned out not to be uranium, it clearly indicated
the terrorist s intent to discharge nuclear weapons without regard to the subsequent fallout of loss of
lives, environmental or economic impacts worldwide.[footnoteRef:2] According to Frederick Mattis,
in Banning Weapons of Mass Destruction, nuclear weapons are still considered to be the ultimate

Theories Of Juvenile Delinquency
The most frequently asked question of criminologists is, what causes delinquency? There are many
explanations and theories of delinquency, especially in specific regards juvenile delinquency. For the
simplicity and length, this paper will be focusing on the strain theory, social learning theory, control
theory, labeling theory, and life course theory. First the theories will be explained and defined. After
the theories have been defined, a comparison of the five will be made. Next, some contrasts of the
theories. Finally, to wrap the paper together, an analysis of which theory is the most applicable to
juvenile delinquency, specifically. The first modern version of strain theory is Robert K. Merton
(1938) which involves the inability of individuals to achieve culturally prescribed success goals, or
goal blockage . In addition to this goal blockage Merton defines two types of strain; the failure to
achieve these goals and the loss of positive stimuli and/or a presence of negative stimuli. Focusing on
the goals that are culturally prescribed for success, specifically for juveniles, these could include
money, status or respect, autonomy from adults, and thrills or excitement. Autonomy from adults is a
key goal for juveniles because as a teenager, the juvenile strives to be independent and strives to be
treated as an adult. Agnew, another prominent theorist of strain theory, lists eight types of negative
treatment or presence of negative stimuli: parental rejection, parental supervision and discipline that is
very strict/erratic/excessive given the infraction and/or harsh, child abuse and neglect, negative school
experiences, abusive peer relations, criminal victimization, homelessness, and experiences with
prejudice and discrimination based on ascribed characteristics like gender and race/ethnicity. The
frustration that results from this goal blockage increased the likelihood of crime; individuals may try
to obtain money through acts such as theft and drug selling, may strike out at others in their anger or
may focus on alternative goals that are conducive to crime (e.g., masculinity goals emphasizing
toughness) (Agnew 2012).
Social learning theory is not a single theory but rather a family of theories

John Steinbeck s East of Eden
Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden
Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the
conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered
upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in
the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers
dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). Caleb and
Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are also the more loving towards their
father. Steinbeck s purpose in this is to illustrate the need of the Cain character in ... Show more

Cathy Kate combines many biblical figures as well. She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife and the
serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil too. Cathy
is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all
of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy
actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas Valley,
the setting of East of Eden. She is described as the only whore who is incapable of being a good
person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely
satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127).
John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The basis of
this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin
whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose,
Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel
found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation very
similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379).
The story is changed by Steinbeck to illustrate

Good and Bad Aspects of Floods
GOOD AND BAD ASPECTS OF FLOODS Flooding can be defined as occupancy by water in areas
that are normally dry. Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other.
To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds.
The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical
storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by
the negligent action of people. But the floods have any positive aspect? Like most natural hazards,
floods can lead to loss of life and property damage, with great impact on public health that may take to
much time to recover. From 1980 2012, there were approximately 200 flood related events in the
world, in which 500,000 people, at least they died or were injured and 20 million lost their homes. In
terms of physical losses, floods are responsible for 40% of damage caused by natural disasters across
the property. According to its origin , floods are classified as rain floods, river floods and coastal
floods. Rainwater and river floods occur as a result of rainfall that occur when moisture in the seas ,
oceans and other large bodies of water , is transported to the land by the wind ; when ascending water
vapor and decrease its temperature , is presented in any of the following ways ; rain, snow or hail. The
process may arise due to the occurrence of hurricanes, normal wind ,

the price changes by a unit change in any variable, keeping rest of the variables constant.
The output shows that cut, polish and certification have t stats and corresponding p values that are
considerably greater than 0.05 (significance level). A stepwise regression drops these variables,
indicating that they are not a good fit for the model (Appendix).
One reason might be that the scatterplot of price vs. carat shows observations being clumped;
representing the three different wholesalers (Appendix). Making inferences on this scatterplot shows
that wholesaler 3 carries diamonds in the range of $160 to $665, significantly lower than the total
range. These observations might lead to inaccurate prediction of the effect of predictor variables on
price. Also, it can be seen from the scatterplot that wholesaler 1 deals in diamonds falling under a very
small interval of $3000 to $3091, while the ones from wholesaler 2 fall in the range of $1856 to
$3145.
As a result, this paper makes an assumption that only data from wholesalers 1 and 2 will fit the model
best, in terms of finding the correct diamond for the professor.
2. Partial Level Level Model (Carat):
Considering the assumption made above, the next model regresses price on all the variables, but only

In large hemangiomas, the central scar is typically brighter and larger on T2 weighted images.
Because of the presence of calcifications, necrosis, and scar tissue the central scar in hepatocellular

slight (37).
The pseudocapsules around some FNH lesions result from compressed liver parenchyma and vessels

high signal intensity on T2 weighted images and enhances on delayed contrast enhanced sequences. In
contrast to this pseudocapsule, the true capsule of hepatocellular carcinoma shows low signal intensity

The turn of the century in American, when E.L. Doctorow s novel Ragtime is set, was a time marked
by rapid technological developments and industrialization. These years also brought a heavy flood of
immigrants as well as an increasingly urban American landscape. Technological advancements
enabled increased efficiency and mass production. However, Doctorow clearly brings into question
the consequences of this new technology for the average American worker. J.P. Morgan s discussion

  • 2. Teaching Methods For An Educator The ability to read is the utmost significant factor behind a child s educational outcome, thus for an educator to impart the skills of literacy on to a student is the most important aspect of primary school education. The art of reading is a multifaceted process that expands on spoken language, it requires the mastering of a progressive set of skills which nurture a phonemic and Phonological awareness, builds a proficiency in decoding competencies and requires the capability to implement comprehension strategies. An insight into these skills are outlined within a framework comprised of six dynamics commonly referred to as the big six . These foundation elements are essential in the reading process, and the means in which these skill sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Doing this helps a teacher plan learning experiences that best harmonises with the needs of the child (Winch, Johnston, March, Ljungdahl, Holliday, 2014). It is good practise to retain these assessment results as the commencement of a running record on each child. Utilising running records enables teachers to secure a comprehensive and accurate assessment of a student s reading ability (Department of Education and Child Development, 2012). As this assessment information follows the progression of a student s reading development throughout their primary years it helps identify children that are struggling early in their journey (Department of Education and Child Development, 2012). Determining a student s level of phonological awareness, does the student hear, analyse and manipulate the sounds and syllables of spoken words? Do they understand speech is a combination of separate words? Does the child distinguish the individual sounds or phenomes that form syllables? Can they identify rhyming words? Do they blend or exchange sounds to make new word combinations? These are the questions educators need to firstly find answers too and secondly teach in order to tutor children in reading (Reid Lyon, 2008). It is crucial to build upon a child s phonemic awareness, if children struggle to isolate the sounds of spoken word, it will be difficult for them to relate these sounds to their represented letters (Fellows ... • 4. The Horrendous Suffering Faced by Dave Pelzer American author, Dave Pelzer, grew up in San Francisco with his mother, father, and brothers. Dave s mother was not like a normal mother, Dave s mother, Catherine Pelzer, beat and neglected Dave. Dave also had 4 brothers that lived with him and his parents: Richard, Ron, Stephen, and Kevin. Dave s father lived with them, but was rarely home. While Catharine did not neglect Dave s brothers she did not deserve custody of Dave s brothers, because of her abusive ways towards Dave (Pelzer). Dave s mother, Catharine Pelzer, was the mother of Dave and his brothers and the wife to Stephen. Catharine was an alcoholic, who was also mentally unstable, and who by no means was in the position to care for children. Catharine neglected Dave to an extreme extent; many of the things she did to Dave could have easily killed him (Pelzer). Dave was no longer considered a child he was a slave, a child called it. Dave s brothers Richard, Ron, Stephen, and Kevin lived with the family, but they were not treated the same way as Dave was treated. The brothers were treated as any other kid should be treated, they would be able to eat with the family, play outside, watch television, or do things other children would do. While their brother, Dave, was not allowed to do any of these things. As Dave s brothers watched the abuse, they did nothing to stop it (Pelzer). Dave s father, Stephen, was a firefighter and an alcoholic. In the beginning Dave s father was home all the time, but as time went on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The King In Oedipus The King In the popular Greek tragedy Oedipus the King, the plot shows how a single bad trait can lead to the fall of a once great man. The author Sophocles portrays the story of the titular where a hero rises to fame after solving the city of Thebes great riddle. The solution to the riddle frees Thebes of its curse from the Sphinx and relieves the city s misery. Although Oedipus is praised and crowned king for freeing the city, he is not entirely a good man. Oedipus is very arrogant, which causes him to make several bad decisions. Through the story of Oedipus the King, Sophocles warns readers not to let arrogance blind them from reality, for it will eventually result in tremendous suffering. At the beginning of this Greek drama, Oedipus is blind due to his arrogance. For example, when the city is in shambles and the Chorus marches around the altar praying to the gods, Oedipus walks in and says to them, You pray to the gods? Let me grant your prayers (245). He believes he can answer the people of Thebes prayers. Additionally, Oedipus is convinced he has god like powers because of his role as king and his previous success in solving the Sphinx s riddle. His past leads him to believe he is always right, which is exactly what happens when he encounters the prophet. Oedipus says, Blind, / lost in the night, endless night that nursed you! / You can t hurt me or anyone else who sees the light / you can never touch me (425 28). Oedipus attacks the prophet with insults for saying that he was the one that killed Laius. Again, Oedipus reveals his exaggerated sense of his own abilities and believes that it is impossible for him to be wrong. Oedipus considers himself to be one of the fortunate who are able to see the light (427) and cannot be steered in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, in King Oedipus case, his high ego leads to his great demise. As this drama progresses, Oedipus begins connecting the dots and restoring his vision. When Jocasta explains how her husband died to Oedipus, he says, I have a terrible fear the blind seer can see (823). Oedipus is now suspecting that the prophecy is true because of the similarities between Laius death and the man he had killed. He begins to stop worrying about his ego and ... • 6. Comparing The Silk Road Trials And Triumphs Silk Road Trials and Triumphs Traders prospered from the Silk Road, but they had to overcome the many dangers along the route before they could gain their wealth. These challenges, ranging from human to natural, made trading along the Silk Road a more difficult task. In order to be successful, merchants were required to be innovative and adapt to the conditions. Much of the Silk Road route is over trying terrain, such as high altitude mountains and arid deserts that stretch for miles. The mountain ranges along the trail include Tienshan, Hindu Kush, Mongolian Altai, and Pamir , and traders had to search for passes to get through them because they were too steep and tall to climb over. Even so, the passes were not much safer than the peaks, such as an account of a traveler through one of these passes: The barrier formed by the Suspended Crossing is such that it cannot be easily traversed. There is a path that is 20 inches wide, that leads forward for a length of twelve miles, overlooking a precipice whose depth is unfathomed. Travelers passing on horse or foot hold on to one another and pull each other along with ropes. When animals fall, before they have dropped half way down the chasm they are shattered in pieces; and when men fall, the situation is such that they are unable to rescue one another . If a fear of heights is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to cross mountain passes, travelers built characteristic bridges and plank roads along cliffs by perforating holes on mountains . To stay warm, they could fashion protective clothing out of one of the items they were trading: silk . • 7. Modern Art And African Art There is a clear connection between modern art and African art. African symbols, shapes, and ideologies influence paintings, textiles, and sculptures. However, not many discuss comics within the traditional definition of art. The medium of comics boomed after the Great Depression with Superman. A time of hardship, the Depression left people needing something to believe in. Since the beginning of time people have used storytelling and mythology to explain the world around them. After the Depression with the birth of Superman, superheros were no different. Superheros are modern mythologies, a phrase coined by Richard Reynolds. In his book, Super Heroes: A Modern Mythologies, he refers to Roland Barters essay Myth Today, which points out that mythology represents culture as nature to explain the political and social anatomy of societies. Superheroes contribute to this concept by using science and magic to create a sense of mythical wonder. Reynolds uses the example of Thor, who is a god trapped on earth in the body of a scientist with a walking stick as punishment from his father Odin. Throughout the comic book universe there are heroes that not only draw from Norse mythology, but Native American, Hindu, and Greco Roman mythology as well. One has to wonder if there is a connection between superheroes and African mythology. Japan was better prepared for World War II After Japanese victories in the First Sino Japanese War, the Russo Japanese War, and World War I, Japanese experience and confidence in military operations began to soar. As early as 1905, Japan had identified the United States as their primary threat and began preparations to win a war against it. Despite Japan s vast combat experience and military buildup prior to the Pacific War, their prewar preparation was only slightly more robust than the United States and this edge was eaten away by time for three different reasons. First, Japan began the Pacific War with slight technological advantages over the United States and believed they could use higher quality technology to defeat the quantitative numbers of a larger foe. By the eve of the Pacific War, these aircraft constituted, as a group, some of the most advanced aviation technology in the world. For speed and maneuverability, for example, the Zero was matchless; for range and speed few bombers surpassed the Mitsubishi G3M; and, in the Kawanishi H8K, the Japanese navy had the world s best flying boat. Journal Of Consulting Psychology, 17(4), 265 266. doi:10.1037/h0054617 Introduction and review of prior research: The effect of anxiety on test performance has been investigated in several researches but this particular study tried to find out the relationship between anxiety level and test performance by conducting the experiment in a group test situation. In previous studies, the effects of test anxiety level on the individual performance of typical intelligence tasks were shown. In this study, researchers investigated the same effect but in a group test situation and assumed people with low anxiety level would outperform those with higher anxiety level. Design: This is a non experimental design, more accurate, a correlational design, as subjects took a questionnaire on anxiety and some of those who were identified as Low Anxiety and High Anxiety were chosen and were given a memory span test afterwards. Participants were all from introductory psychology courses which might be a confounding variable as there would be a possibility of good participant effect and bad participant effect, due to the fact that they might have certain knowledge of memory tests. Therefore, they were not told anything about the connection between the anxiety questionnaire and the memory test session in order to eliminate discrepancy in results. An important ... • 13. Essay on Edgar Allen Poe s Fall of House of Usher Bipolar disorder affects many people today as well as in the time of Edgar Allen Poe when it was then called melancholia. Poe was diagnosed with this disorder and it plays an integral role in his story, The Fall of the House of Usher (1839). This story is heavily influenced by this disorder or its presently associated symptoms and also describes one way that bipolar disorder can genetically affect an entire family. To fully understand a story involving this disorder, it is cardinal to know the exact definition of bipolar disorder, as well as its symptoms and previous aliases. (Poe). This heightened sensitivity is evidence of the mania stage associated with bipolar syndrome. Also, a possible episode of mania would be the scene involving Usher s sister coming from the dead. This could surely be seen as an hallucination and sign of a manic episode. To recap, Usher has symptoms from the hypomania, mania, and depressed stages meaning the ailment that he suffers from is not melancholia, but instead a modern case of bipolar or manic depression disorder. One reason for a character in a story having a particular disorder would be that the author has real life experience with it. However, following the initial launch, negative perceptions of these augmented reality glasses gave view to a few major issues holding them back from success. Many of these problems occurred primarily due to lack of security and privacy. Concerns during the initial release were caused by the fact that the wearer can film or take pictures with out the subject(s) knowing or giving consent. As a result, negative consequences, such as speculation against Google, along with customer assault and isolation began to make face. Customers were targeted and harassed for supporting the product, which worked to both stunt market growth, and lower Google s reputation. Not soon after, social media sites took wind of the escalating situation and assisted in a major backlash against the new product. Overall, the failure of the Google Glass explorer program directly resulted from the prevalence of these unforeseen privacy issues. • 21. Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum Of William Shakespeare s... Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum in William Shakespeare s Othello Where does it end? Where did it begin? On a continuum, it is impossible to distinguish. Eve Sedgwick coined the idea of the Homosocial continuum. Her argument involves gender, class, and hierarchical relationships. In William Shakespeare s, Othello, many character pairings can be analyzed in relation to Sedgwick s theories. The relationships that most interestingly relate to the homosocial continuum are Desdemona and Emilia, Iago and Roderigo, and Iago and Othello. First, Desdemona and Emilia have a homosocial relationship that is easier to understand by today s standards based on Sedgwick s assertions. Sedgwick states, The apparent simplicity...of the continuum, [for women], would not be so striking if it were not in strong contrast to the arrangement among males (506). Emilia and Desdemona s relationship, while certainly blurring the lines at points, would not be questioned even today based on Sedgwick s claim that women are so much more free to move along the homosocial continuum. It is typical for women to care for one another and desire one another s company, including physical touch and intimate dialogue. At Desdemona s death bed, Emilia arrives to discover the situation and cries out, Emilia. Out, and alas! that was my lady s voice. Help, help, ho! help. O lady, speak again! Sweet Desdemona! Furthermore Renault had previously mentioned Rick s efforts in the Spanish and Ethiopian civil war; In 1935, you ran guns to Ethiopia. In 1936, you fought in Spain, on the Loyalist side. This portrays Rick as more caring person and slightly changes our previous views of an uninterested man in politics. This passage is important to understand the allegory and encouragement to join war. Mentioning these previous efforts would therefore be compared to America s involvement in WW1; therefore isolation in this war would be critical due to their previous influence in the European continent. Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex mental capabilities. Background/Historical Context Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). More than any other term variable seems to describe the Fremont best. Several traits appear more distinctly Fremont including a certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researchers have provided a number of temporal ranges for Fremont habitation, with the most encompassing being 2000 500 B.P. (Madsen and Simms 1998). The origin of the Fremont has been a disputed subject. Some researchers argue for an in situ development from the Desert Archaic culture (Aikens 1970; Marwitt 1970; Husted and Mallory 1967). Others have also suggested an in situ development but with a great deal of influence from the Anasazi to the south (Ambler 1966). Archaeologists have proposed a migration origin with an influx of people from the Virgin Anasazi region (Gunnerson 1969) or from the northwestern Plains (Aikens 1966). Researchers base these suppositions on Fremont material traits that are similar to those of people from outside of the Fremont region, such as tipi rings, shield pictographs, projectile point forms, moccasins, and pottery manufacturing techniques. None of these theories seems to adequately explain the variation that exists within the Fremont region (Madsen 1979). The patterning of Fremont material traits has led archaeologists to outline a number of regional variants. The most commonly used model divides the Fremont area into five sub regions (Marwitt 1970) (Figure 2) based on differences in architecture, ceramics, figurine and rock art styles, and means of subsistence. Traits do not stay contained within sub regions; rather they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Beaded Christmas Observation Pictured above is a hobby that I am interested in trying, beaded Christmas ornaments and these are way different than from the ones in the late 1960 s. There are kits available at stores and online of course but many times I do not have the time to learn a new hobby. Eventually I will find the time to make these ornaments. I like the way they are displayed on their own arm hooks, they look so dainty and festive and the colors can be changed for the holidays and not necessary ornaments for Christmas. The person who did these ornaments is creative and of course has the time to do something they love and not consider it work. By the way the room is situated this person is very organized as well. It also looks like she or he does crochet as well by noticing the doily on the table and that is a craft that still eludes me as well as knitting, but I still want to learn those eventually. By looking out the window, you can see a bit of the garden which looks to me well maintained. Somehow the image reminds me of a home in the country. It also looks like they like the color green by the tablecloth they have on the table, which is a good sized table to do various crafts. So, it would seem the person or people here are creative, organized, and neat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course the more we did crafts the better we got at it. • 31. Public Policies Of The Canadian Government Throughout Canadian history, a responsible government depended on the act of the nation working together to apply appropriate public policy. William Lyon Mackenzie King, the prime minister of Canada in the 1920s (and again in the 1930s) once said, Where there is little or no public opinion, there is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later becomes autocratic government. This is true even almost 100 years later. A democratic society operates in relation to the voices of the nation. The Canadian government consists of many sectors to enforce this particular style of policy making, including the House of Commons, the Senate, the Cabinet, and of course, the prime minister. Many citizens may argue that these important sectors of government are aspects reflecting true democracy. On the other hand, some citizens might argue that the prime minister has significant control over Parliament alone, sometimes without the need for other voices. Government responsibility lies in the heart of the prime minister and can have significant control over different policy areas if he or she feels the need to do so. This often flies in the face of a democratic society. This paper will argue that the Prime Minister of Canada has too much power over Canadian public policy because he or she maintains party discipline, controls Cabinet ministers, and has power over what bills are passed in Parliament. These factors determine that the Prime Minister indeed continues to control government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Tech Prep Essay Tech Prep Although the development and implementation of tech prep education programs have been in process since the initiation of the Carl D. Perkins Act Amendments of 1990, misconceptions about tech prep education still exist. As defined in provisions authorizing Perkins funds for tech prep, a tech prep education program is a combined secondary and postsecondary program that leads to an associate degree or two year certificate; provides technical preparation in at least one field of engineering technology; applied science, mechanical, industrial, or practical art or trade; or agriculture, health or business; builds student competence in mathematics, science, and communications (including applied academics) through a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the integration of academic and vocational education offers one strategy for developing the academic and technical competence of students, it does not constitute tech prep. Tech prep requires not only new courses and a sequenced core curriculum, but courses that take into account the learning styles of the majority of students, incorporating concepts like that of contextual learning. According to Hull (1993), contextual learning occurs only when students process new information or knowledge in such a way that it makes sense to them in their frame of reference (their own inner world of memory, experience, and response) (p. 41). Thus, the applied academics approach to learning, which involves the teaching of solid academic content by means of hands on and vocational applications, follows the contextual learning concept in that it provides for learning in the context of life experiences building on what the students already know and applying learning in the context of how the knowledge/information can be used in the context of exploration, discovery, and invention (ibid.). One of the goals of applied academic curriculum is that it should enable students to transfer knowledge from academic content to vocational applications and from school to the workplace. To ensure a curriculum that will prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for work in a technologically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Threats to Global Security The proliferation of weapons of mass destruction is one of the foremost threats challenging global security today. The United States should take an offensive strategy and re emphasize its nuclear program due to the current affairs around the globe and the growing threat of the use of weapons of mass destruction against our citizens, allies and vital interests. The existing arms control agreements, such as the 1968 Non Proliferation Treaty and the prohibition of biological weapons of 1972, have not been able to address the issues of weapons of mass ... Movement of illegal imports and the exchange of money can be completed with virtually no restrictions depending on the place and time due to relaxed import and export laws, lack of enforcement controls, and electronic system networks. Furthermore, many governments seem to be unwilling or unable to implement control over the development, storage, or use of these weapons. More problematic are the shifting ideologies and international relationships that have occurred over the decades following the cold war. Today there is little doubt terrorist groups or states would use weapons of mass destruction to further their interests if they were available. The 9/11 Commission Report documented that Usama bin Laden in an interview with ABC television had called for Muslims to kill Americans without regard to their status claiming all Americans were targets. He had also attempted to purchase weapons grade enriched uranium for over $1.5 million dollars in an effort to make an atomic bomb. Although the material later turned out not to be uranium, it clearly indicated the terrorist s intent to discharge nuclear weapons without regard to the subsequent fallout of loss of lives, environmental or economic impacts worldwide.[footnoteRef:2] According to Frederick Mattis, in Banning Weapons of Mass Destruction, nuclear weapons are still considered to be the ultimate weapon of mass ... • 34. Theories Of Juvenile Delinquency The most frequently asked question of criminologists is, what causes delinquency? There are many explanations and theories of delinquency, especially in specific regards juvenile delinquency. For the simplicity and length, this paper will be focusing on the strain theory, social learning theory, control theory, labeling theory, and life course theory. First the theories will be explained and defined. After the theories have been defined, a comparison of the five will be made. Next, some contrasts of the theories. Finally, to wrap the paper together, an analysis of which theory is the most applicable to juvenile delinquency, specifically. The first modern version of strain theory is Robert K. Merton (1938) which involves the inability of individuals to achieve culturally prescribed success goals, or goal blockage . In addition to this goal blockage Merton defines two types of strain; the failure to achieve these goals and the loss of positive stimuli and/or a presence of negative stimuli. Focusing on the goals that are culturally prescribed for success, specifically for juveniles, these could include money, status or respect, autonomy from adults, and thrills or excitement. Autonomy from adults is a key goal for juveniles because as a teenager, the juvenile strives to be independent and strives to be treated as an adult. Agnew, another prominent theorist of strain theory, lists eight types of negative treatment or presence of negative stimuli: parental rejection, parental supervision and discipline that is very strict/erratic/excessive given the infraction and/or harsh, child abuse and neglect, negative school experiences, abusive peer relations, criminal victimization, homelessness, and experiences with prejudice and discrimination based on ascribed characteristics like gender and race/ethnicity. The frustration that results from this goal blockage increased the likelihood of crime; individuals may try to obtain money through acts such as theft and drug selling, may strike out at others in their anger or may focus on alternative goals that are conducive to crime (e.g., masculinity goals emphasizing toughness) (Agnew 2012). Social learning theory is not a single theory but rather a family of theories ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. John Steinbeck s East of Eden Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). Caleb and Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are also the more loving towards their father. She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife and the serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil too. Cathy is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas Valley, the setting of East of Eden. She is described as the only whore who is incapable of being a good person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127). John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The basis of this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation very similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379). • 36. Good and Bad Aspects of Floods GOOD AND BAD ASPECTS OF FLOODS Flooding can be defined as occupancy by water in areas that are normally dry. Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other. To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds. The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by the negligent action of people. But the floods have any positive aspect? Like most natural hazards, floods can lead to loss of life and property damage, with great impact on public health that may take to much time to recover. From 1980 2012, there were approximately 200 flood related events in the world, in which 500,000 people, at least they died or were injured and 20 million lost their homes. In terms of physical losses, floods are responsible for 40% of damage caused by natural disasters across the property. According to its origin , floods are classified as rain floods, river floods and coastal floods. Rainwater and river floods occur as a result of rainfall that occur when moisture in the seas , oceans and other large bodies of water , is transported to the land by the wind ; when ascending water vapor and decrease its temperature , is presented in any of the following ways ; rain, snow or hail. The process may arise due to the occurrence of hurricanes, normal wind , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The coefficients indicate how the price changes by a unit change in any variable, keeping rest of the variables constant. The output shows that cut, polish and certification have t stats and corresponding p values that are considerably greater than 0.05 (significance level). A stepwise regression drops these variables, indicating that they are not a good fit for the model (Appendix). One reason might be that the scatterplot of price vs. carat shows observations being clumped; representing the three different wholesalers (Appendix). Making inferences on this scatterplot shows that wholesaler 3 carries diamonds in the range of $160 to $665, significantly lower than the total range. These observations might lead to inaccurate prediction of the effect of predictor variables on price. Also, it can be seen from the scatterplot that wholesaler 1 deals in diamonds falling under a very small interval of $3000 to $3091, while the ones from wholesaler 2 fall in the range of $1856 to $3145. As a result, this paper makes an assumption that only data from wholesalers 1 and 2 will fit the model best, in terms of finding the correct diamond for the professor. 2. Partial Level Level Model (Carat): Considering the assumption made above, the next model regresses price on all the variables, but only for diamonds from wholesalers 1 and 2. It ... Focal Nodular Hyperplasia (FNH) Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH), defined as a nodule composed of normal appearing hepatocytes in an otherwise normal liver (30), is the second most common benign hepatic tumor after hemangioma. Histopathologically, FNH is categorized into two major groups: (i) classic (80%) and (ii) nonclassic (20%). The nonclassic type is further subcategorized as the telangiectatic FNH (15%), FNH with cytologic atypia (3%) and mixed hyperplastic and adenomatous FNH (2%). Three key elements are present in classic FNH lesions including an abnormal nodular architecture, cholangiolar proliferation, and malformed vessels. In nonclassic type, the cholangiolar proliferation is always present but one of the other two elements may be missing (31). In approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the presence of calcifications, necrosis, and scar tissue the central scar in hepatocellular carcinoma shows low signal intensity on both T1 and T2 weighted images and the enhancement is slight (37). The pseudocapsules around some FNH lesions result from compressed liver parenchyma and vessels surrounding the lesion and an inflammatory reaction. The pseudocapsule of FNH is often seen with high signal intensity on T2 weighted images and enhances on delayed contrast enhanced sequences. In contrast to this pseudocapsule, the true capsule of hepatocellular carcinoma shows low signal intensity on both T1 and T2 weighted images, with persistent enhancement on delayed contrast enhanced sequences (37).
