Andrew Marsh And The Ethics Of Belief
The Christian faith goes back thousands of years, and has acquired a strong system of devout
followers from all different walks of life. The big question regarding Christianity is whether or not
there really is a God. Many have set out to disprove Christianity, including one of the major theorists
Charles Darwin with his belief in evolution. Unlike in the evolution theory, faith plays a huge part in
the Christian religion and without it they really rely on nothing. Can there be a valid belief system
without evidence? Christianity falls short of being logical because of its lack of evidence, inadequate
reasoning, and harm it causes to believers. Without evidence, nothing can accurately be proven true. In
his article, You Know I Learned Something Today: Stan Marsh and the Ethics of Belief, Henry Jacoby
quotes English mathematician and philosopher W.K Clifford when he says it is wrong always,
everywhere, and for anyone to believe anything upon insufficient evidence (Jacoby 58). The Christian
religion is strongly based on Faith; the faith that the Bible is nonfiction, that there is a heaven and a
hell, and most importantly that there is in fact a God. Due to the fact that none of these subjects have
any documented evidence supporting their claims, is it really in society s best interest to believe in
them? If humans create beliefs based on the simple fact that they cannot be disproven; however, they
have no solid evidence they can be proven then it is all turned into a

The Dark Knight Character Analysis
According to a Russian proverb, God makes the priests. Jesters come from the devil. You won t have
any trouble believing that aphorism when you see Heath Ledger s mesmerizing performance as the
Joker in The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan s masterpiece and one of the highest grossing films of
all time. Batman is no longer just a comic book, but a story that become engrossing and unfolds into a
haunting tragedy. With great performances by the entire major and supporting cast the movie creates
characters that we care and give audiences of all stripes something to satisfy them. In the Dark Knight
Batman is not just a good guy is a good guy because he does good things story but in fact a story
where you can hesitate to call a good guy at all. The people of Gotham are in turmoil and are calling
Batman a vigilante and are blaming him for the deaths of cops and other important figures in the city.
The Joker (Heath Ledger) is not just a mustache twirling villain. He s a Trickster whose deeds are
nefariously designed to pose moral dilemmas for his enemies. Gotham is under the process of
recovering from the events of Batman Begins (the first film in the franchises). The crime of the city is
at its lowest point in several decades and there is finally a sign that Gotham is working towards peace,
a peace that has been a long time coming. This low crime rate is thanks to the team work between the
three heavy hitters of law enforcement in Gotham the Batman

How Can Resourcing and Development “Add Value” in the...
According to Ann Marie E. McSwain, Assistant Professor at Lincoln University, leadership is about
capacity: the capacity of leaders to listen and observe, to use their expertise as a starting point to
encourage dialogue between all levels of decision making, to establish processes and transparency in
decision making, to articulate their own value and visions clearly but not impose them. Leadership is
about setting and not just reacting to agendas, identifying problems, and initiating change that makes
for substantial improvement rather than managing change. In the modern workplace, a good leader
can lead the team to success and vice versa. The importance of a good leader in an organization cannot
be doubted. However, one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Military Ethos In The Army Essay
According to Military 1 TD (2010), The Army ethos is based on the qualities portrayed by a great
number of gallant warriors in Malaysian history since the Malacca Sultanate, throughout World War II
and the Emergency, and right up to the most recent UN missions. They invariably exhibit magnificent
warrior ethos of the Malaysian soldier, identifiable, yet unchallenged. Similarly, the following ethics
will be further nurtured, developed and drilled into all members of the Malaysian Army so that it
remains a force to be reckoned with. These are summarised as follow:

The Characteristics Of The Piltdown Man
A century ago, the Piltdown man was presented to the world as one of the most phenomenal and
astonishing discoveries of time only to be revealed as the boldest and most ingenious hoax in the
history of science.
In 1912, Charles Dawson, a scientist and an amateur archaeologist, had exhumed two skull bones and
a jawbone with two teeth after a three year excavation of the Piltdown gravel in Sussex, England.
Dawson along with Arthur Smith Woodward, imminent geologist and a caretaker of the geological
department in the British Museum claimed that the jawbone and skull fragment must have come from
the same skull as they were a seemingly good fit. The skull had characteristics of both ape and human.
Woodward named the skull Piltdown man. On 18 December 1912, they presented Piltdown man to the
world at a conference of the Geological Society of London where they exhibited a reconstructed skull.
They enthusiastically announced that the jawbone and one of skull fragments ... Show more content

The jawbone, for one, looked fare more ape like than anyone would imagine finding attached to the
high vaulted skull of a human. Furthermore a crucial piece of the skull was missing the canine.
Dawson employed the help of an amateur archaeologist, Teilhard de Chardin. A single canine tooth,
which matched Dawson and Woodward s prediction about its size, was excavated a year later. In
addition to there, they also discovered another Piltdown Man. This put a stop to the doubts and
suspicions. With support from family members and the Natural History Museum, Piltdown man was
established as the earliest ancestor of humans.
For 40 years, the Piltdown man was accepted by the scientific community as a genuine artifact.

History and Evolution of Health Care Economics
Healthcare economics has drastically changed over the years. It makes up for one sixth of American
budget (Johnson, 2009). Health care economics has drastically changed partly due to new advances in
technology over the years. Money is the factor of health care economics. Money drives economics and
makes up health care and how far it can go. Economics will continue to change and financial advisors
who have more education on health care economic advances will be beneficial to keep with changes in
economics. Economics focuses on market. Market is like the buyer buys a product or ... Show more

One particular factor for the drastically changing health care economics is the fact that as wealthier
people became, the more willing they were to pay for goods and services. Even now, health care is
most often on people s list after they buy food for their families and essentials for their home. With all
the new advances in technology it has created a change in the supply and demand of health care
economics. People in the 1900s were not as eager to consult with getting health care services as they
are in today s time. Medical services have advanced with medications, surgeries, exams, and patient
care. Shifting the financial burden also makes medical care more desirable to individuals. Insurance
companies paying for all or most of medical costs give people more incentive to seek treatment or get
regular visits by the doctor. The value of health care is also the change that has come to health care
economics. People feel their health is priceless and valuable. They are willing to pay to make sure
they are healthy and live a long life. Although the feeling has changed about health care and people
have more money to spend, health care has made dramatic changes in their costs as well. These
changing costs have made a change in health care economics as well. Debt in the US now is mostly
credited to health care bills that Americans rack up. People are willing to spend as much as money as
possible to pay for

Harry Houdini s Life
The Magic Life A fundamental understanding of the human psyche is the essential key to successful
magic. This is the quote that inspired Erich Weiss the world s greatest escape artist. Harry Houdini
born as Erich Weiss came into this world on March 24, 1874. He later claimed he was born on April
6,1874. This kid was poor but ambitious, erratic yet determined. Harry Houdini, the poor Jewish kid
living in the slums of Appleton, Wisconsin, became the world s most successful magician. There were
no laws saying kids had to go to school so Harry worked hard. Harry had to come early and stay late
and he was hardly payed. Erich joined a sports club and began to run, swim and, work out. On Harry s

trick they failed. They did not get a lot of performances after their failure. Afterwards, they went to the
Chicago world s fair making $25 a week afterwards they went back to dime museums. Harry did a
handcuff escape and that was when he started making money and getting famous. He influenced the
world because he was a poor child living in Wisconsin who had a dream. Harry saw how many
shoeless kids lived near him so he did a show for them and bought all of them shoes. Harry would
challenge police officers to handcuff him, lock him up or even arrest him. Harry also taught soldiers
how to escape handcuffs in case they were captured. He also created a device that would help divers
escape their suits quickly. Harry Houdini was a great magician who could escape from a lot of tricks

Lawrence Oliver And Hamlet Comparison
Hamlet was a unique piece of its time that discussed family dynamics in a royal setting; it
incorporated things that most likely were not discussed in the actual time period of the play. Problems
like losing a family head and having your mom get remarried is not something we living the modern
world would find new and fascinating, so it is up to the movie director to construe the same scene and
try to modernize it for their audience. Kenneth Branagh, who released his film in 1996, tends to stick
to a play like feel in his movie while Laurence Oliver, whose film was released in 1948, decided for a
more dramatic approach to his visual for Scene one Act two in Hamlets soliloquy. This can be seen in
the way Branagh retells his turmoil out loud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What this means is he has decided to focus on Hamlet s grief of his father s death unlike Branagh who
instead gives more focus on Hamlet s disdain in his mother remarrying. While speaking Oliver
enunciates each word, How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable. (l, ii, l. 135) so that you actually feel
his misery, he talks softly and slowly to convey he is tired of the world. His entire posture is given the
look of someone through with life. While walking he takes each step deliberately, heavy and lost in his
thoughts. He stands before the chair that could have possibly been his father s as if he might be
standing before him with his arms crossed at his back. All these various acting techniques display how
a person might act while mourning. Branagh on the other hand builds to a momentum; as he talks the
angrier he gets. The way he emphasizes, within a month , (l, ii, l. 145 and 149) again and again allows
the audience to know just what he thinks of the wedding. She married. O most wicked speed, to post ,
(l, ii, l. 156) is an important part because of the way Branagh decided to stress certain words, as if he
is so disgusted he cannot even talk. It can be said he is so angry that he cannot contain it within
himself that he has to use his body to express himself. Each time he points Branagh tends to point in
the same direction, which could indicate

III. FACTS:
During World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt signed executive order 9066 that ordered those
with Foreign Enemy Ancestry to be moved to internment camps. Congressional statues provided the
military the ability to remove Japanese citizens from any area that would be crucial to national
defense. The petitioner was Fred Korematsu and the respondent is the United States. The issue at hand
was Korematsu lived in San Leandro California who was ordered to move to a Japanese internment

COURT DECISION
The Supreme Court decided the case on December 18, 1944. The executive order held and supported
the idea of moving Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II. The Justices who
supported the United States were Reed, Black, Stone, Douglas, Rutledge, and Frankfurter. The
Justices opposed were Murphy, Jackson, and Roberts. This was a makeup of six votes for the United
States and only three votes against. The Supreme Court agreed with the government to protect the
United states during the war which overruled Korematsu individual rights. VI. OPINION AND
REASONING OF THE COURT:
While the Supreme Court reviewed the case they relied heavily on a case prior, Hirabayashi v. United
States. After the president passed two executive orders giving the secretary of war the ability to
generate military areas. The other order included the ability to remove, supervise, or maintain outside
military areas.
Justice Black s weighed in his opinion which stated:
It should be noted, to begin with, that all legal restrictions which curtail the civil rights of a single
racial group are immediately suspect. That is not to say that all such restrictions are unconstitutional.
It is to say that courts must subject them to the most rigid scrutiny. Pressing public necessity may
sometimes justify the existence of such restrictions; racial antagonism never

Introduction
The need for cheap and efficient means of travel coupled with the development of motor vehicles has
seen a rapid growth in the automotive industry. The automotive industry encompasses all the
companies and activities involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles, including most components,
such as engines and bodies (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014). Even though much of the manufacturing
nowadays is done by robots, computers and machines, the strongest and most luxurious vehicles are
still considered to be the ones that have had the most human involvement and effort applied on them.
This makes simple tools such as the cordless hand drill necessitous in the entire process because of
their wide range of uses and applications which will be further discussed in this report. Hand drills
today, are used in almost every industry that involves assembling individual components to make a
complete structure however, this report will focus on the design of a cordless hand drill specifically
for the automotive industry.

Same Sex Australia
For centuries, same sex couples have been scrutinised and marginalised based on their sexual
orientation, however, over recent decades, movements established by same sex couples have enticed
the Australian Government to equate specific rights and privileges between homo and heterosexual
couples. Although, the progress this movement has maintained has been stagnated by the influential
Christian portion of Australia, whom of which strongly oppose the concept of homosexuality.
Regardless of the superior social status they now withhold, same sex couples are still confronted with
numerous socio economic and cultural injustices within society, manifested through the immoral
beliefs of homophobic citizens and religious characters.

homophobia a fear or hatred of homosexuality. This hatred may be reinforced by a number of factors,
including: moral, religious, and political beliefs of a dominant group. Despite the encouraging
progress same sex couples have made throughout this century, deeply embedded homophobic
attitudes, often combined with inadequate legal protection against informal discrimination, on the

deplorable violations of their human rights. They are often discriminated against in schools and

Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting
The cultural ties to empire are not so easy to efface as the political ones. This is perhaps one of the
most important lessons the world has learned from the mass movement towards independence on the
part of European colonies in the past half century. Even we Americans, more than two hundred years

Yet an explicit affirmation of this hatred is not necessary; the reader is quick to appreciate the irony
and utter absurdity of her situation and that of Antigua. Kincaid makes us want to condemn the
imperialistic attitudes which fostered this indoctrination of English values and also the supposition
that this culture was somehow inherently superior to any other. By putting her readers in her own
position, and by appealing to their sense of the absurd, Kincaid is very effectively able to elicit
sympathy.
Kincaid was never prepared for England as it is; all she had to go on was the idea of England that was
presented to her as a child. She never had a single real tie to England: No one I knew had ever been
and returned to tell me about it. All the people I knew who had gone to England had stayed there
(356). In England she is conscious of the fact that she is an outsider. She is made to feel this way by
the difference she perceives between the English and herself: Their skins were so pale, it made them
look so fragile, so weak, so ugly . . . they didn t like me, and it occurred to me that their dislike for me
was one of the few things they agreed upon (357). The racial difference breeds a mutual distrust. She

customarily seen as willing to do anything and everything for their children s safety and health. Their

grandparents are viewed as incapable of providing sufficient care for their grandchildren. Although

Thus, the use and importance of mobile advertising is likely to grow in the future.
It is unlikely that mobile technology will be rich enough to support the amount of content or the
quality of visual we associate with print or electronic media advertising.
More likely, it will take the form of short text messages intended to inform, remind, or notify
consumers. Thus, it can best be used to support relationships with existing customers rather than to be
used to attempt to acquire new consumers (Perlado Barwise, in press). For example, mobile
advertising may help to remind consumers to make a purchase or to provide information for
immediate consumer decisions.
Perhaps the major advantage of mobile advertising is that it is able to reach people at exactly the
moment they are making purchase decisions. For example, it can be used to provide information about
sales promotions at the time of purchase to help sway consumer choices for parity products.
Short Messaging Advertising
In the United States, there is not yet sufficient text messaging ads or text messaging to cause service
disruptions. Only recently have the major wireless carriers agreed to let their customers send text
messages to one another (Shachtman, 2002).
Competing standards (global system for mobile communications versus code division multiple
access), fragmented systems, and lack of variety in calling plans are all cited as reasons for the lower

Photography Copyright Laws
Robin Gross once described copyright laws as, a balance between protection for the artist and rights
for the consumer. However, Carolyn E. Wright, a full time attorney who actually wrote the book on
photography law and whose goal is to protect the rights of photographers (both professionals and
amateurs alike) provides us with a more official definition of copyright laws in an interview with
photographer Ken Kaminesky. Explaining that, copyright for photographers means owning property.
With ownership, you get certain exclusive rights to that property. For photographic copyrights, the
ownership rights include the right to reproduce the photograph, prepare derivative works based upon
the photograph, to distribute copies of the photograph to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

protection, and equipment insurance. In fact, PPA is the only photographic association that provides a
full time Copyright Government Affairs Department in the world. This department works to answer
any questions about copyrighting and gather the latest information on laws that affect photographers.
PPA also supplies members (it s free to join) with a copyright kit that includes information, guidance,

Research Methods And Methodology Of A Systematic And...
Research Methods and Methodology
A methodological framework was necessary to organise the project in a systematic and rigorous way
however this methodological framework must be underpinned by a conceptual framework
(Denscombe, 2010), which represents my preferred approach to this inquiry. This framework supposes
that firstly, metacognition holds lifelong value for the pupils and will improve their enjoyment and
achievement. And secondly, that my teaching can be improved by more inclusion of metacognitive
strategies and provide a more enjoyable experience within the lab when compared to the traditional
scheme of work used at the school.
I considered using a case study approach to the research, which would provide deep understanding to
perceptions. It allows one aspect to be studied in depth (Bell, 2010) however this option was
dismissed as it did not allow for changes in practice and their evaluation. If I were to examine the
reasons for the decline in enjoyment of lessons from year 7 to year 8, a case study would be the
preferred mode of enquiry. I feel that action research is the most appropriate research methodology as
it allows changes in practice based on evidence gathered. It enhances the operation and processes on a
department or school backed by the collection of data (Denscombe, 2010). McNiff and Whitehead
(2011) state that it allows practitioners to investigate and evaluate their work. Action research allows
researchers to improve their practice, and their

Eastern Synchronized Skating Analysis
Skating has impacted me in many positive ways. I have learned skills that I will be able to use through
out the rest of my life, from being on a Synchronized skating team. Three that have really stood out to
me are: Responsibility, Going with the Flow, and Time Management. One of the skills I have learned
is time management. While at a competition I have to make sure that all of my school work gets done,
and how long it s going to take. For example, one year I had to do a science project over the Eastern
Synchronized Skating Championships, and had to work during breaks, and any extra time I could find
to make sure I got it done and used my time wisely. At home I can t let skating get in the way of

Why A Bathroom Is Worth Going Big
It doesn t matter whether you have a big home or a small home. Your bathroom is one of the rooms
you should invest in as many luxurious fixtures and amenities as you can.
Why A Bathroom is Worth Going Big
The bathroom can be a haven, a place where you take long soaks in the tub at the end of tiring days at
work. Reason enough why a bathroom remodel is one of the best things you can do for you and your
home.
On top of that, bathroom remodeling gives you an 80% to 90% return on investment should you ever
decide to sell your home. Whether it s a partial upgrade or a complete overhaul, a bathroom remodel is
one worthwhile project you should seriously consider investing in.
Deciding on the Scope of Your Bathroom Remodeling Project
The minute you start on your bathroom remodeling project, it can result in either one of two things:
you ll have that gleaming, tiled paradise of a bathroom you ve always wanted to have or you ll end up
having a half assembled mess of old and new bathroom fixtures. To prevent the second scenario, you
should decide on the scope of your bathroom remodeling project before you start anything.
Based on your budget, the span of time you have, and the size of your bathroom and its current state,
you have several options for remodeling your bathroom:
Option 1. Do a surface level bathroom remodeling. This is an option when your bathroom fixtures, the
knobs on the faucets and such, are still in good condition but your bathtub and/or your shower stall

Graham Green s The Quiet American Essay
Graham Green s The Quiet American
The Quiet American by Graham Green is a story set during the Vietnam War before the United States
became involved. The main character is Thomas Fowler, an English Reporter stationed in Vietnam.
The story follows approximately six months of his life where he is faced with personal, professional,
and ethical trials. The story also follows closely, the lives of two close friends, Pyle and Phuong. Each
of the three main characters are from a different country, and they were used to represent it.
As the main character in the novel, Fowler possessed many complex levels to his psyche.
He came across as a bitter, cold hearted person but in actuality was probably the character that felt the

He is the perfect gentlemen, has money, and a good future. Pyle was a very quiet American (17). Only
he does possess one flaw, he is an assassin. He aids in the making of bombs and helps with the actual
bombing of areas. He was responsible for the bomb that killed several women and children in the
town square and all he could think about was the fact that he had to clean the blood off of his shoes
before he met with the Minister. He represented America, in that he pretended to stay out of the
situation, and simply be a good guy , but in reality was extremely involved. Much like the US was not
actually fighting, but helping France economically to fight instead, and wasn t publicly in the war until
the 60 s but was most likely involved earlier than that.
Eighteen year old, Vietnamese Phuong was terribly naive. This young girl was in a state of peace with
Fowler, but what she really wanted was to be settled, married. She, much like Vietnam, was being
fought for. And was constantly wavering between Fowler and Pyle. The Vietnamese want[ed] enough
rice (94) that s all, and all Phuong wanted was to be settled. That was why she left Fowler for Pyle,
why Pyles death wasn t so devastating for her, and why she was so happy to be able to be the second
Mrs. Fowler.
All three of these characters were believable. They were all flawed, and with a slight exception of

Do The Right Thing Analysis
Do the Right Thing
Films document critical historical events, entertain masses and educate the public on particular
practices. Depending on the theme and intent of the director, films have a substantial contribution to
the human civilization. Do the Right Thing directed by Spike Lee is a1989 American comedy drama
that highlights the racial tension in the ancient society. The film depicts a typical day for Lee in
Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn when strains between the whites, Indians and African Americans were
on the rise. The production of the film took place when the issues regarding the African Americans
were largely ignored. Therefore, the setting of the video in a black dominated community illuminates
the style as well as outcomes of good and bad (Townsend). It addresses the stereotypical notions that
defined Africans as dangerous and violent by portraying a picture of hospitable characters. Other than
bringing the lifestyle of African American to the limelight, it has significant relevance ... Show more

Necessarily, it entails the use of resources and amenities while taking into consideration the
intergeneration and intragenerational needs. First, the fact that the film has importance to the current
society justifies that it met the standards of sustainability and widespread use. Second, the production
in the black community brings out uniqueness, resources and virtuous lifestyles of the peoples
including the Afrocentric dressing (Townsend). In terms of regional development, using the local
capitals to build the capacity and participatory approaches to decision making improves the
practicality of the interventions. The film meets this threshold because it explores the individuality of
a particular society, the systems, and institutions. This aspect is useful in designing workable strategies

A-Level Buss4 to What Extent to Do Think That the Recent...
With reference to organisations or industries that you know, to what extent do you think that recent
changes in the UK economy will have inevitably damaged the long term profits of businesses that
operate in this country? (40 marks)
The UK had recently emerged from the recession 2007 2009, the economy is now recovering. During
the recession, many businesses had struggled to survive. The strategies that businesses had taken
during recession may affect their long term profits. For example, as people spend less during the
recession, businesses try to reduce their costs and reduce prices in order to encourage customers to
buy their product e.g. Primark, M S etc and many businesses have also closed down branches in order
to maintain their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Demand may be price inelastic Demand is not very responsive to changes in price. This means
revenue will fall.
Another reason that could damage long term profits is that businesses due to recession had to borrow
money from banks which have to be repaid. For example, the car industry was most badly hit by the
recession as people could not afford to buy luxury cars and traded down. In fact, GM, the world s
biggest car company was the first one to go for the bankruptcy protection and had to borrow about
£21bn of government loan. This means that during times of recovery GM would have to repay their
loans with interests which means less profit being made. Once in recovery, the profits made by the
business are used to repay loans which lower the firm s overall profit margin.
However, this is not the case for many other businesses as they see recession as actually creating an
opportunity for making long term profits. The recession has helped businesses to come out stronger
than ever. Waitrose had seen sales fall as customers chose to buy from rivals such as Asda/Tesco. In
response to that Waitrose launched its essential Waitrose range in an attempt to win over customers
that have abandoned the chain in favour of cheaper outlets such as Asda or even Lidl and Aldi.
Waitrose has woken up to the recession and they realized that they need to make their value message
clearer. The performance of Waitrose,

Benefits Of Low Disclosure Of The Hedge Fund Industry
There is a certain air of secrecy surrounding the hedge fund industry that makes investing in these
vehicles a scary endeavor for some. As hedge funds are not regulated to the same extent as mutual
funds, many firms choose to limit the disclosure of their operations and holdings. Because of this lack
of transparency combined with media criticism, many myths and fallacies regarding the industry have
surfaced. Although this lack of transparency may leave investors less informed and more susceptible
to risk when investing in a hedge fund, it also allows for higher returns that cannot be achieved by
more traditional investment vehicles. The benefits of low disclosure may outweigh the costs for
certain investors, but the level of transparency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a diversified portfolio, in which risk is managed well, any losses that are incurred by certain assets
will be offset in part by the gains of other assets. When risk is managed appropriately, hedge funds can
be a robust addition to a portfolio. Hedge fund managers insist on confidentiality in order to allow for
such high returns that their funds deliver, however, some investors are skeptical that they seek
confidentiality of their holdings in order to hide past losers of their portfolio. Through a close
examination of confidential 13F filings, the returns and liquidity of confidential holdings can expose
the justification for withholding proprietary information from the public. The evidence found that
confidential holdings actually outperformed holdings that were disclosed to the public, and that many
of these confidential holdings are illiquid assets that have performed well in the past. This evidence
suggests that managers sought confidentiality in order to generate superior returns, rather than hide
poorly performing positions (Aragon, Hertzel, and Zhen). This protection of proprietary information
prevents competition from freeriding off of the fund s investment strategies as well as protects illiquid
positions from front runners attempting to trade against the fund. While low

Sepsis Case Study Essay
There are many complications that can occur from other illnesses and in all attempts, the healthcare
team tries their best to prevent these complications in every circumstance as possible. One of these
complications that can arise from an illness including sepsis. Sepsis is known as a systemic infection
that is located within the blood and can invade every organ and tissue in the body. If the infection is
not treated in time or cannot be controlled, it can progress to septic shock and eventually to multiple
organ dysfunctional syndrome. Sepsis is a serious infection and the mortality rate has increased by
50% due to a delay in seeking medical attention with an infection (Davis, 2014). Once a localized

These patients are more at risk of developing sepsis because their immune system may not have the
capacity to fight off the infection as the rest of the population (McClelland, 2014). If sepsis develops
in a patient, especially a patient who is more at risk, it is important for the nurse to recognize that an
infection has developed such as redness, swelling, fever, and drainage. The nurse should assess the
patient for possible signs and symptoms of infection including a urinary tract infection, infection in a
wound either from diabetes or a surgical wound and presence of a respiratory infection (Bernstein,
2013). An infection can occur anywhere in the body and completing an assessment is important when
there is an infection present. If the infection is ignored or not treated, it can become systemic. A
systemic infection will destroy the tissue and can eventually reach the blood stream causing a fever,
increased heart and respiratory rate, decrease in blood pressure, increase in blood glucose, altered
mental status and a severe increase or decrease in WBC. Once treatment has been initiated, how the
body responds to the treatment will depend on the severity of the sepsis. If the body does not respond
to the rapid fluid replacement or other measures to sustain life, then the patient is in septic shock

The Identification of Green Fluorescence Protein Tagged...
Introduction:
Information is passed between neurons and muscles through the release of neurotransmitters. These
neurotransmitters are stored in synaptic vesicles in synapses. But before they can dock at a synapse, a
motor transport known as kinesin moves the synaptic vesicles along microtubules to their final
destination in the cell. This process is known as vesicle transport.
The purpose of these experiments were to gain a better understanding of the movement of vesicles
along microtubules and the importance of this in proper nerve transmission. This was accomplished by
analyzing the phenotypes of three different strains of Caenorhabditis elegans using microscopy and a
fluorescence microscope. The organisms contained fluorescence tags on the membranes of their
synaptic vesicles to make it easier to see how the mutations affected the vesicles locations.
Wild type C. elegans should be actively moving in an s shape pattern under a microscope. Under a
fluorescence microscope, the tags should appear at the nerve ring and along the nerve cords. In the C.
elegans with a fusion defect, its movement would appear impaired and the fluorescence tags would be
more concentrated at the nerve ring. Lastly, a C. elegans with a transport defect would also have
impaired movement, but the fluorescence tag would be dispersed in patches along the length of the
entire worm.
Results:
Observation of phenotypic appearance was taken using a dissecting microscope at 50x magnification

  • 3. Andrew Marsh And The Ethics Of Belief The Christian faith goes back thousands of years, and has acquired a strong system of devout followers from all different walks of life. The big question regarding Christianity is whether or not there really is a God. Many have set out to disprove Christianity, including one of the major theorists Charles Darwin with his belief in evolution. Unlike in the evolution theory, faith plays a huge part in the Christian religion and without it they really rely on nothing. Can there be a valid belief system without evidence? Christianity falls short of being logical because of its lack of evidence, inadequate reasoning, and harm it causes to believers. Without evidence, nothing can accurately be proven true. In his article, You Know I Learned Something Today: Stan Marsh and the Ethics of Belief, Henry Jacoby quotes English mathematician and philosopher W.K Clifford when he says it is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone to believe anything upon insufficient evidence (Jacoby 58). The Christian religion is strongly based on Faith; the faith that the Bible is nonfiction, that there is a heaven and a hell, and most importantly that there is in fact a God. Due to the fact that none of these subjects have any documented evidence supporting their claims, is it really in society s best interest to believe in them? If humans create beliefs based on the simple fact that they cannot be disproven; however, they have no solid evidence they can be proven then it is all turned into a ... McSwain, Assistant Professor at Lincoln University, leadership is about capacity: the capacity of leaders to listen and observe, to use their expertise as a starting point to encourage dialogue between all levels of decision making, to establish processes and transparency in decision making, to articulate their own value and visions clearly but not impose them. • 7. The Characteristics Of The Piltdown Man A century ago, the Piltdown man was presented to the world as one of the most phenomenal and astonishing discoveries of time only to be revealed as the boldest and most ingenious hoax in the history of science. In 1912, Charles Dawson, a scientist and an amateur archaeologist, had exhumed two skull bones and a jawbone with two teeth after a three year excavation of the Piltdown gravel in Sussex, England. Dawson along with Arthur Smith Woodward, imminent geologist and a caretaker of the geological department in the British Museum claimed that the jawbone and skull fragment must have come from the same skull as they were a seemingly good fit. The skull had characteristics of both ape and human. Woodward named the skull Piltdown man. One particular factor for the drastically changing health care economics is the fact that as wealthier people became, the more willing they were to pay for goods and services. Even now, health care is most often on people s list after they buy food for their families and essentials for their home. With all the new advances in technology it has created a change in the supply and demand of health care economics. People in the 1900s were not as eager to consult with getting health care services as they are in today s time. Medical services have advanced with medications, surgeries, exams, and patient care. Shifting the financial burden also makes medical care more desirable to individuals. Insurance companies paying for all or most of medical costs give people more incentive to seek treatment or get regular visits by the doctor. The value of health care is also the change that has come to health care economics. People feel their health is priceless and valuable. They are willing to pay to make sure they are healthy and live a long life. Although the feeling has changed about health care and people have more money to spend, health care has made dramatic changes in their costs as well. These changing costs have made a change in health care economics as well. Debt in the US now is mostly credited to health care bills that Americans rack up. • 10. Lawrence Oliver And Hamlet Comparison Hamlet was a unique piece of its time that discussed family dynamics in a royal setting; it incorporated things that most likely were not discussed in the actual time period of the play. Problems like losing a family head and having your mom get remarried is not something we living the modern world would find new and fascinating, so it is up to the movie director to construe the same scene and try to modernize it for their audience. Kenneth Branagh, who released his film in 1996, tends to stick to a play like feel in his movie while Laurence Oliver, whose film was released in 1948, decided for a more dramatic approach to his visual for Scene one Act two in Hamlets soliloquy. While walking he takes each step deliberately, heavy and lost in his thoughts. He stands before the chair that could have possibly been his father s as if he might be standing before him with his arms crossed at his back. All these various acting techniques display how a person might act while mourning. Branagh on the other hand builds to a momentum; as he talks the angrier he gets. OPINION AND REASONING OF THE COURT: While the Supreme Court reviewed the case they relied heavily on a case prior, Hirabayashi v. United States. After the president passed two executive orders giving the secretary of war the ability to generate military areas. The other order included the ability to remove, supervise, or maintain outside military areas. Justice Black s weighed in his opinion which stated: It should be noted, to begin with, that all legal restrictions which curtail the civil rights of a single racial group are immediately suspect. Research Methods and Methodology A methodological framework was necessary to organise the project in a systematic and rigorous way however this methodological framework must be underpinned by a conceptual framework (Denscombe, 2010), which represents my preferred approach to this inquiry. This framework supposes that firstly, metacognition holds lifelong value for the pupils and will improve their enjoyment and achievement. And secondly, that my teaching can be improved by more inclusion of metacognitive strategies and provide a more enjoyable experience within the lab when compared to the traditional scheme of work used at the school. I considered using a case study approach to the research, which would provide deep understanding to perceptions. It allows one aspect to be studied in depth (Bell, 2010) however this option was dismissed as it did not allow for changes in practice and their evaluation. If I were to examine the reasons for the decline in enjoyment of lessons from year 7 to year 8, a case study would be the preferred mode of enquiry. (40 marks) The UK had recently emerged from the recession 2007 2009, the economy is now recovering. During the recession, many businesses had struggled to survive. The strategies that businesses had taken during recession may affect their long term profits. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Demand may be price inelastic Demand is not very responsive to changes in price. This means revenue will fall. Another reason that could damage long term profits is that businesses due to recession had to borrow money from banks which have to be repaid. For example, the car industry was most badly hit by the recession as people could not afford to buy luxury cars and traded down. In fact, GM, the world s biggest car company was the first one to go for the bankruptcy protection and had to borrow about £21bn of government loan. This means that during times of recovery GM would have to repay their loans with interests which means less profit being made. Once in recovery, the profits made by the business are used to repay loans which lower the firm s overall profit margin. However, this is not the case for many other businesses as they see recession as actually creating an opportunity for making long term profits. An infection can occur anywhere in the body and completing an assessment is important when there is an infection present. If the infection is ignored or not treated, it can become systemic. A systemic infection will destroy the tissue and can eventually reach the blood stream causing a fever, increased heart and respiratory rate, decrease in blood pressure, increase in blood glucose, altered mental status and a severe increase or decrease in WBC. Once treatment has been initiated, how the body responds to the treatment will depend on the severity of the sepsis. If the body does not respond to the rapid fluid replacement or other measures to sustain life, then the patient is in septic shock (McClelland, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Organic and Inorganic Constituent in Essential in Plants... ORGANIC AND INORGANIC CONSTITUENT IN ESSENTIAL IN PLANTS AND NUTRIENTS REQUIRED TO PLANTS Organic constituent DEFINITION An organ, system, or other discrete element of an organism the part of the plant that carries out photosynthesis. EXPLANATION: The chemical compounds of living things are known as organic compounds because of their association with organisms. Organic compounds, which are the compounds associated with life processes, are the subject matter of organic chemistry. Among the numerous types of organic compounds, four major categories are found in all living things: carbohydrates, lipids, protein, and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates Almost all organisms use carbohydrates as sources of energy. In addition, some carbohydrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such nutrients are termed macronutrients, where the prefix macro (large) refers to the quantity needed, not the size of the nutrient particles themselves. Other nutrients, called micronutrients, are required only in trace amounts for plants to remain healthy. Such micronutrients are usually absorbed as ions dissolved in water taken from the soil, though carnivorous plants acquire some of their micronutrients from captured prey. The following tables list element nutrients essential to plants. Uses within plants are generalized. Macronutrients. • 36. The Identification of Green Fluorescence Protein Tagged... Introduction: Information is passed between neurons and muscles through the release of neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are stored in synaptic vesicles in synapses. But before they can dock at a synapse, a motor transport known as kinesin moves the synaptic vesicles along microtubules to their final destination in the cell. This process is known as vesicle transport. The purpose of these experiments were to gain a better understanding of the movement of vesicles along microtubules and the importance of this in proper nerve transmission. This was accomplished by analyzing the phenotypes of three different strains of Caenorhabditis elegans using microscopy and a fluorescence microscope. The organisms contained fluorescence tags on the membranes of their synaptic vesicles to make it easier to see how the mutations affected the vesicles locations. Wild type C. elegans should be actively moving in an s shape pattern under a microscope. Under a fluorescence microscope, the tags should appear at the nerve ring and along the nerve cords. In the C. elegans with a fusion defect, its movement would appear impaired and the fluorescence tags would be more concentrated at the nerve ring. Lastly, a C. elegans with a transport defect would also have impaired movement, but the fluorescence tag would be dispersed in patches along the length of the entire worm. Results: Observation of phenotypic appearance was taken using a dissecting microscope at 50x magnification and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since it is found in many places across the body, it plays a role in a variety of psychological and bodily functions. It has a strong influence on many psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, addiction, and possibly even attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It also affects some of our daily activities like eating and sleeping. A balance of serotonin is necessary because overproduction can lead to deadly backlash from serotonin syndrome, and too little production can lead to depression, anxiety, OCD, and other psychological disorders. One can increase their serotonin levels through prescriptions and even through foods, especially dark chocolate. With all of this in mind, serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is crucial for our daily functions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
