Leaders Should Be A Successful Leader
Gary Yukl (2006) defines leadership as the process of influencing others to understand and agree
about what needs to be done and how to do it, and the process of facilitating individual and collective
efforts to accomplish shared objectives. (Educational leadership: A reference handbook 2002) A leader
needs to take control of its employees in a workplace. They should be a trusted person, and also be a
people person. Without communication, effective leadership will become a failure, due to the fact that
nobody will understand what is going on in the work place. Goal setting for leaders is one of the most
important factors, as they want to become a successful leader, by achieving goals for the organisation,
for that to become successful as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can t always come in shouting and screaming. That doesn t work. No one likes to get criticized.
But in the football dressing room, it s necessary that you point out your players mistakes. I do it right
after the game. I don t wait until Monday, I do it, and it s finished. I m on to the next match. There is
no point in criticizing a player forever. (The Guardian 2012) The messages that Ferguson gave to his

greatest manager they ve had. Ferguson had began his United managerial career with a strong
foundation. Although in his earlier years, he had some had some mischievous players in his team, as
many would go out and drink lot s of alcohol and smoke cigarettes, which ruined their health for the

model you can apply to him here is Transformational Leadership, A transformational leader is a person
who stimulates and inspires (transform) followers to achieve extraordinary outcomes (Robbins and

Organizational Culture And Organisational Culture
There are many different interpretations on what organizational culture is; it can be defined as ... This
essay will be discussing and explaining organizational culture and change, furthermore how culture
can have an influence on behaviour at work. In addition there will be an discussion on the
organizational culture of two UK businesses, as well Organisational Culture Organisational culture is
described as a company s personality or DNA. (Education Portal) has defined organisational culture as
a system of shared assumptions, values, and beliefs, which governs how people behave in
organizations . There are seven dimensions or characteristics of organisational culture. The
Organisational Culture Profile (OCP) is one of many typologies that businesses use, to help them not
only to describe its culture, but also identify, measure and managing it more effectively. Each
organisation has a unique culture; every company will have a different value for each of the
characteristics; furthermore when they are combined they define the organisations culture. The
difference between strong and weak culture is that if a business has a weak culture, then there will be a
wide variety of opinions, whereas if a business has a strong culture than majority of the employees
will have and share the same beliefs and values of the organisation. This will not only have an impact
but will also influence the behaviour of the members of the business, as they know what is required of
them; therefore the

Analysis of the Allegory of the Cave
Analysis of the Allegory of The Cave Plato s Allegory of the Cave presents a visualization of people
who are slaves that have been chained in front of a fire their whole lives. These people observe the
shadows of different things shown on the cave wall that is in front of them. The shadows are the only
reality the slaves know. This is because they have never seen anything else to compare them to. Plato
argues that there is a critical flaw in how people mistake their limited perceptions as reality, as truth,
and as what they believe to be what is good. The allegory reveals how the flaw affects our education,
our spirituality, and our politics. The flaw that Plato speaks about is how people trust what they see
and think it is real. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato says it is difficult to go back down into the darkness after somebody has seen the light, but they
must. They must educate the slaves about the world above, so the slaves understand that power is not
the greater good. Even though it will be about ten times harder to readjust to the darkness after
descending into the cave again they will see about ten times better, because now they know the
shadows are not real. They will govern with knowledge of good and truth. I believe that the Allegory
of the Cave simply states that we must question reality and we must not trust just what our eyes tell us.
We must know more than just what the eyes see. The slave in the allegory that makes the ascent and
eventually rejects the truth of the shadows comes to know a truer truth. But then they believe what
their eyes show them that is on this world. They have forgotten that they must question reality,
because how are they to know that this reality is realer than that of the caves ? Somebody may wonder
what if we are the shadows in the cave. And who knows. It corresponds to having an imaginary friend
when a person is younger. The imaginary friend is very real to whoever the befriended person is, but
as the person gets older or makes the ascent to the world of knowledge, they

What Are The Causes Of The War Of 1812 Essay

The War of 1812
In this essay I will be discussing the major events and battles that took place during the War of 1812.
It started in 1812 and lasted until the spring of 1815. There were three main causes for the war taking
place, America trading with parts of Europe(France), the Impressment, and the possible desire on the
part of the United States to annex Canada, The War of 1812 ended as a stalemate in the spring of
1815. The War of 1812 was a war that never should have been fought.
America Trading With France

Britain that was going on at the time. According to ManyThings.org ... Show more content on

America hated this because the British were literally taking american people and making them fight
for someone else.
Why did America want to annex Canada
America wanted to annex Canada because it had a lot of resources that America would have loved to
get there hands on the great amount of resources that America could have used. America also wanted
to annex canada because it would have been a huge amount of territory gain for america and it would
have made America a super country, it would have been a metaphorical spit in the face to Great
Britain.
How did the war end?
The war of 1812 ended as a stalemate in 1814 when the downfall of Napoleon allowed the British to
distribute more military resources to the war, Washington D.C., fell to the British in August. While In
Washington, British troops burned the White House down, and other buildings in retaliation for the
earlier burning of government buildings in Canada by the US soldiers. The British soon retreated, and

A Comparison Of The Eucharist
In Pope John Paul II s encyclical, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, he claims the Church draws her life from
the Eucharist. John Paul II also emphasizes how the Eucharist is a priceless treasure, (25). Alike, the
Catholic Intellectual Tradition is also a priceless treasure of the church. Without, the tradition, the
Church would definitely be different today. But this isn t the only resemblance among the Eucharist
and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. To begin, the Catholic Intellectual Tradition is Eucharistic
because it is living. The tradition is constantly growing and being added to, so it can be passed on
through generations. Correspondingly, the Eucharist is also centered on growth. The encyclical reads,
The Second Vatican Council teaches that the celebration of the Eucharist is at the center of the process
of the Church s growth...The Apostles, by accepting in the Upper Room Jesus invitation: Take, eat ,
Drink of it, all of you (Mt 26:26 27), entered for the first time into sacramental communion with him.
From that time forward, until the end of the age, the Church is built up through sacramental
communion with the Son of God who was sacrificed for our sake, (21). The Church grows through the
Eucharist as communion among believers take part in the sacrament. In addition, the church is
growing through evangelization like the tradition grows in knowledge. In a parallel way, the Catholic
Intellectual tradition also promotes communion like the Eucharist. A large part

Pitching Research Paper
When a baseball is pitched, hit and flies in the air, one or more of the physical principles formulated
over 300 years ago by Sir Isaac Newton act on it. Folklore tells how the mathematician and physicist
first realized the law of gravity while observing a falling apple. Had Newton watched a baseball game
instead, he might have formulated all three laws of motion by the seventh inning stretch.
Pitching
Newton s First Law of Motion states that every object remains at rest or in uniform motion in a
straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force. Hall of Fame
pitcher Nolan Ryan recorded 5,714 strikeouts, as documented in the Baseball Almanac, using the first
law when throwing his trademark fastball. Ryan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Outfielders understand this in terms of a baseball that goes up must come down. Newton s first law
applies to the combined forces of air pressure and gravity that act upon a baseball hit in the air.
Newton s second law regarding force, mass and acceleration applies to how high and far the ball is hit.
Outfielders learn to gauge the overall distance of fly balls just before the ball reaches the height of its
arc. Exceptional outfielders have the ability to make the same calculations as the baseball begins
rising when hit. An outfielder might realize the distance between his location and projected the arc of
the ball make it impossible to catch certain balls on the fly. Outfielders use Newton s second law to
get in position and field or catch fly balls.
Base Running
Base runners make calculations based on all three of Newton s laws of motion∂, whether attempting to
reach base on a hit or steal a base. Hitters set in motion toward first base and simultaneously calculate
the speed of a ground ball or the distance of a fly ball. Based on the second law, the hitter might elect
to hold at first or continue running for extra bases. Proficient base stealers use Newton s third law to
calculate the time it takes a ball thrown by a fielder or outfielder to reach the targeted base. Hall of
Fame leadoff hitter Ricky Henderson used his speed and the laws of motion to hit, get on base

The Coral Reefs Of St. John At The Virgin Island Essay
The ocean is an ever present mystery due to the fact that we have over 70% of it undiscovered. It
never ceases to amaze humanity with its unique creatures and habitats. One ocean environment I was
fortunate to visit was the coral reefs near St. John at the Virgin Island Environmental Research Center.
I learned interesting things about this unique living system and how they support many organisms, but
one thing left me very bothered. On a tour of the coral reefs near a beach on St. John, I observed many
pale detached corals. Not only that, but I saw the picture of these coral reefs from years before and the
differences were enormous. In the old picture, the coral reefs were vibrant and many. It seems like
now, the coral that was once ravishing and was in abundance are depleting and they are not as vibrant
as they were before. I spoke to one of the researchers and they told me that there are only 15% coral
reefs left today because of several factors which include pollution, climate change, and unsavory
fishing practices that ravaged this once beautiful ecosystem. If these reefs are not protected in time it
could be detrimental to the existence of many marine organisms.
Coral reefs are created from very small organisms called polyps that attach to any hard surface they
land on. Once they are settled, they take carbon dioxide from the ocean waters and secrete a limestone
substance out to create a protective skeleton like layer. After sediment and limestone have
accumulated, the

Leadership Traits in Europe, Russia, and Japan Essay
Leadership has meaning only in an organizational context, and only in the sense of managing within a
system of inequalities. Superior subordinate relationships help to define leadership behavior, and the
culture in any particular society influences the nature of these relationships. Two leadership roles are
common to all societies, however. The first is the Charismatic role, or the capability to provide vision
and inspiration. This is emphasized by transformational leadership concepts. The second is the
instrumental role, or the capability to design effective organizational processes, control activities, and
meet organizational objectives. This describes the functional expectations of someone is a leadership
role. However, each society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
European Leadership Behavior
Countries in Europe have made significant progress toward consolidating the European Union (EU),
but many unresolved issues remain. Not least among the EU problems is the difficulty of managing
multicultural organizations within the region. Although EU unification of commercial regulations and
labor laws has dominated government and company agendas, the actual activities of leading
companies in this complicated environment have received little attention. The obvious question is
whether a common European leadership approach will emerge from the economic union or whether
leadership practices will remain culturally bound to each nation. One group of observers expects that
as Europe s nations converge economically, a hybrid form of leadership will replace individual
cultural practices. An opposed group asserts that cultural values are so ingrained that any effort to
consolidate management practices will meet strong resistance. They firmly believe that leadership
behavior will remain differentiated in each nation. From a U.S. perspective, it is easy to speak of
European methods as some common stream of consciousness, but research in Europe leaves no doubt
that leadership behavior varies substantially among the individual countries.

Quotes For Flowers For Algernon
Intelligence or Long Life Today evolution of human intelligence has advanced us to the stage where
most of us are too smart to invent new gods but are reluctant to give up the old ones (Ruth Hurmence
Green). Flowers for Algernon is about a man named Charlie Gordon, he is 37, and has a low IQ of 68.
He will go through an operation that has never been done before. It is supposed to generate Charlie to
three times smarter. A while after he had undergone the operation his mind starts to deteriorate. He
was able to predict that his mind will deteriorate like Algernon s due to a series of experiments he did.
Charlie is better off doing this experiment. Charlie is better of going through the experiment be
because he can now see things clearly for the first time, he has the chance to experience what it is like
to be smart, and he knows how he truly feels. Initially, Charlie was not aware of what was going on
around him. He thought that everyone liked him and was his friend. He also was not very intelligent,
which is why he was oblivious to what was happening around him. After Charlie had the surgery he
was able to now notice that the people he worked with at the factory were not actually his friends. He
found out April 20, I never knew that Joe and Frank and the others liked to have me around all the
time to make fun of me (33 34). Now that he got the procedure he can now tell that his so called
friends, just liked him because they could make fun of him. Another example of him noticing things
for the first time is when the doctors were arguing Charlie felt that he know saw them for the first
time. He realizes about their personal life, how one has a wife that wants him to be successful and the
other wants some of the glory to. Once again, due to his intelligence, he notices more about the people
he interacts with almost every day. He noticed things that he has never realized, let alone thought
about. Additionally, Charlie now has a chance to be smart. This operation allows Charlie s IQ to triple.
Since Mrs.Kinnian suggested Charlie he got a chance to experience true intelligence, and love. After
the operation, he was able to comprehend more than the doctors, who were before smarter than him.

The Modern Islamic Financial Institutions Essay
Introduction:
Conventional finance is Based on the neoclassical economic assumption which assumes that every
individual that are involve in the economy have a profit maximization goal. In order to achieve that,
the neoclassical economy also assumes that this profit maximization is being done by every rational
individual which will weigh risk and return in every opportunity.
Although there is no issue with profit maximization in Islam as long as it does not lead to harm or
exploitation to society (Al aali 2012), the means of maximizing profit is more than just weighing the
risk and return. Profit maximization in Islam should abide to Shariah.
Abiding to Shariah in an overview is Prohibitions of riba, gharar and maysir, this is what distinguish
Islamic finance from its conventional counterpart (Ayub, 2007). As an alternative, Islamic financial
system have interest free loans, Islamic joint ventures (musharakah/mudarabah) and trade or lease
based (murabaha/ijarah/salam) financing structures (Azmat et al. 2015). Contemporary Islamic
financial institutions have developed, and continue developing, products that mirror the classical
Islamic products, and evade from the association with riba, gharar and maysir (Kamla Alsoufi 2015).
With increasing demand for Shariah compliant stocks, countries like Malaysia have moved to
introduce an Islamic stock market as an alternative to conventional stock market. This stock market

The Strangers That Came And Town By Ambrose Flack
Freedom is a birthright for all humans, we should always feel accepted to speak our minds and
be who we are. In his short story, The Strangers that Came to Town , Ambrose Flack is
showing that true freedom is about being accepted. He shows this through the characterization
of Mrs. Duvitch, Mr. Duvitch and Andy.
Mrs. Duvitch s quiet and reserved nature made her the ideal victim of rumors. The less people knew
about her the more room left for their imaginations. For example she is said to be the victim of an
obscure skin disease and that every morning she shook scales out of the bed sheet (3). The rumors
began to cease after her dinner party with Andy s family where her true nature began to be revealed.
Following the dinner party, Andy s mother invites her to a tea party
Where her delicate manners, and the fine needlework which engaged her, won the approval of the
local housewives who were present (15). Showing her embroidery skills helped her connect with the
ladies of the town. Embroidery is a way she expresses herself and after feeling comfortable with the
ladies she revealed that side of her. When she felt accepted by the ladies,
Mrs. Duvitch was finally confident enough to invite them to her house. After a while Mrs.
Duvitch found courage to ask these people into her house (16). Opening our homes to someone takes a
great deal of trust. Our homes are our safe place where we can be ourselves.
To the Duvitch s their home meant a lot more to them

Ghost In Hamlet Essay
No doubt that out of the play s total of twenty two scenes, the Ghost appears in just in four scenes and
times (as said earlier in I.1, I.4, I.5, III.4), and in two of them (I.1 and I.4) it does not even speak a
single word. Of the play s thousands of lines, the Ghost speaks just some ninety lines, which does not
seem like much for such a key figure until we realise how this some lines influence almost all the
twenty two scenes. In fact, the words spoken by the ghost of the late king of Denmark carry the
heaviest significance both in the development of the plot and in the development of the characters. In
other words it can easily be said that we cannot imagine the play as well as its major characters

Without the ghost s initial revelation of truth to Hamlet, there would be no occasion for revenge; in
other words no tragedy of Hamlet . As we know that one of the major themes of Hamlet is revenge.
The motive force of this revenge theme is provided by the ghost when it says:
Let not the royal bed of Denmark be/ A couch for luxury and damnèd incest. (82 83)
In our third and final point that the appearance of the supernatural ghost shows up the character and
drives home a certain moral effect. Here is a transparent clear reality of the universe that the activity
like murder must be disclosed even if it done in a very cleverer and in the most secret way. As Hamlet
says about the murder of his father, For murder, though it have no tongue, will speak / With most

Actually, the play shows that we cannot conceal the truth for a long time. The ghost, we feel, is a
representative of that hidden and ultimate power rules in the universe, it is a messenger of the divine
justice. As Hamlet says further in the earlier, Foul deeds will rise / Though all earth o er whelm them,
to men s eye . (I. 2 ) indicating that bad deeds will be revealed, no matter how people try to hide

Evolution Of The Common Cold
Introduction The history of mankind is intricately woven with the planet we live on, but is perhaps
even more dependent upon micro organisms. While people often think that micro organisms are scary
and cause sickness, there are several of these beneficial organisms that are more common than the
common cold. Saccharomycetes Cerevisiae is one of these organisms and has been in use by humans
for millennia. The evolution of this micro organic life form has been highly guided by the hand of
humanity to suite several specific purposes that our species has, and still does, use this yeast for.
History and Uses of Saccharomycetes Cerevisiae While it is still relatively speculative when human
kind first began its interactions with S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cerevisiae has undergone genetic modification to do some pretty wild things. Morphine, codeine,
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and other cannabinoids can now be synthesized from precursor
chemicals using GMO S. Cerevisiae. THC and other cannabinoids can be produced by engineered
yeasts, which have the same functions and chemistry as those from the plant, but are FDA approved
for medical uses, while the plant itself is not (Khamsi, 2015).
Engineered s. cerevisiae with a reconstituted 7 gene pathway is feasible for the synthesis and
production of codeine and morphine from (R) reticuline (Fossati, et.al, 2015). S. cerevisiae cells fed
(R) reticuline, salutaridine or codeine as substrates showed that all enzymes were functionally co
expressed in yeast and that activity of salutaridine reductase and codeine O demethylase likely limit
flux to morphine synthesis (Fossati, et.al, 2015). This study describes a significant advance for S.
cerevisiae and paves the way for complete synthesis of substances not naturally produced by
microbes. Morphine alkaloids are narcotic analgesics and the most powerful naturally produced
alkaloids used to treat severe and chronic pain.
Capturing and Propagating Yeast In order to study the evolution of yeasts, they must be captured and
propagated. The process for doing so is rather simple; a juice or slightly sweetened drink, such as a
tea, is left open to the air with a loose filter, such as cheesecloth, for a day or two. Once signs of

A. Noe in Employee Training Development. All four articles were published online (Internet) and
compared to Noe s text offline (non Internet). The topics discussed are the pros and cons of Army
Simulations and the virtual training environment of today s soldiers. Three of the four articles confirm
Noe s opinion of the value added (both monetarily, as well as, the ability to train in situations that
would not be possible to train for in real life) of virtual simulations (Sims) in the Army training
environment. The fourth article, however, shows a flaw with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But the cost is much less than the hourly cost of taking helicopters out of service to teach pilots (Noe,
2017). Below are outside articles that either agree with the overall opinion of Noe, or disagree with
certain aspects.
According to Raymond A. Noe in Employee Training Development, the world of virtual simulations
in the U.S. Army is not only cost efficient, but also a training tool that allows soldiers to focus on
important safety issues and emergency procedures that are impossible to replicate (Noe, 2017) in real
life events. This theory is repeated by many. David Vergun interviewed Maj. Mike Stinchfield, chief of
the Training Innovation Facility, Army National Simulation Center, Army Combined Arms Center,
Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for MilGaming
Online.
In this article, Vergun states, Simulators are cost effective in terms of fuel and maintenance, and they
also allow trainers to simulate variables that are dangerous and costly to simulate in real life: weather
conditions, difficult terrain and enemy attacks. (Vergun, 2016). Simulations are used all across the
world to train soldiers of all ranks in basic, and advanced, procedures. For example, Virtual
Battlespace 3 (VBS3) is used at most military installations in the United States. VBS3 is used
primarily to support dismounted patrols and convoy operations; as it is a 3D

Main Idea Of To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill A Mockingbird which was written by Harper Lee. It takes place in Maycomb, Alabama, during
the Great Depression, when racism was very prominent in many communities, especially in the South.
The story is narrated by the main character Scout Finch, who is a tomboy and possesses great
intelligence, which in turn exposes her to very mature situations. The main idea of To Kill A
Mockingbird is that you shouldn t spread lies about people that did anything wrong, for Boo Radley,
who is thought to be a monster, and Tom Robinson, accused of being a rapist, are people who suffer
because of lies. In the first seven chapters of the book, Scout, along with Jem. her older brother and
Dill, their friend from Mississippi that visits every summer,

Comparing Haiti And Haiti
Living on an island with two third world countries; the Dominican Republic and Haiti, I ve seen
firsthand the major differences between both of them. The Dominican Republic has evolved from a
Spanish colony, while Haiti was originally French. Throughout the years, Haiti has become known for
suffering from poverty, misery, and distress. Pauperism has become a huge issue for the Haitians and
prosperity of the country as a whole due to a lack of health, education, and social services. Back in
2014 and 2015, the school I used to attend in the Dominican Republic organized trips to orphanages in
Haiti. 80 percent of the 32 000 orphans across the 760 orphanages have parents who want them, but
they are not able to support their children. The organized trips were crucial in forming me as a caring
and loving person. Before, I wouldn t have been able to imagine how heart breaking watching these
starving, cheerless children would be. I always visualized kids as playful, blissful, and joyful
creatures. However, looking at the Haitian orphans I realized how cruel reality can be to people. It was
the first time I ve faced such conditions, and I strongly rejected the fact who there are people in the
world that may deserve even a little part of it. There was also ... Show more content on

the world. After my return I took part in organizing Amnesty International club at school. During club

Essay On First World Countries
First world countries contribute most to the problems of unsustainable development and thus they
should be responsible for resolving the issues caused by such developments, particularly when they
are still having an indirect impact in promoting unsustainable development and have resources
required to counter these problems. Researchers have proved that more than the increasing rate of
population in certain developing countries; it is the per capita negative impact that First world
countries are having on sustenance of the world environment that is responsible for the climate change
in the world. According to Environmental Research Letters, seven advanced countries are responsible
for 63% of the world s activities leading to global warming (Malone 2014). Though United States
emits most of the carbon and greenhouse gases but when evaluated based on national population UK
has the highest per person pollution levels. Recently some developing countries like China are
catching up in pollution emission with developed countries but yet again a large portion of these
emissions in transferred to the countries that consume these products produced in developing countries
(Matthews 2014). Thus as the paper states As a consequence, a substantial portion of recent emissions
from developing countries could be equally allocated to the developed countries that consume the
goods produced (Matthews, 2014, p.8). Despite this huge amount of historical contribution in large

Shakespeare and Plagiarism Essay
Shakespeare and Plagiarism William Shakespeare is one of the world s greatest playwrights; however,
some say that he does not fully deserve the credit for his work because he plagiarized the work of
others. Shakespeare, who was born in Stratford upon Avon in 1564, is also known as the Bard and has
written countless plays and poems which have given rise to several novels and movie plots (Chandy).
It is said that he found most of his inspiration from nature, as he mentions birds in his works more
than any other author (Mabillard). There is not enough evidence to prove that Shakespeare did not
plagiarize, nor is there enough to prove that he did. However, from what is known, he did nothing that
could get him the knowledge needed to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people still like to argue the fact that Shakespeare was not wealthy had a lack of education and
would have had a difficult time writing such elaborate works without help (wheeler). There are several
people who are believed to be the real William Shakespeare including Sir Francis Bacon, the Earl of
Oxford, the Earl of Essex, Christopher Marlowe and Queen Elizabeth I herself (Mabillard). This is
mainly due to the fact that during the time of Shakespeare these were highly educated and popular
people. Also, there are some theories which state that Shakespeare is really just an out of town actor
who took the credit for countless works done by other authors and playwrights (did Shakespeare
actually write all his plays), and there is a record of him acting in front of Queen Elizabeth in 1594
(Chandy). The main reason that these people believed to be the real Shakespeare, is Shakespeare lacks
the background, education, and breeding in order to write such great plays and poems. William
Shakespeare could possibly just be a political cover up for a politician or a nobleman. A nobleman
could have written the plays but the plays were meant to be read as political commentary, with each
character corresponding on a one to one basis with real political figures

Inevitable Events In Ancient Greece Essay
The events that factored in Ancient Greece s downfall were inevitable in the sense that some of the
events were destined to happen. Though a few of the events could have been avoidable like the city
states and their function as a nation. Each city state acted as a separate, independent country, which
did not bring unity to Greece, instead it made Greece too vulnerable. These differences of the city
states eventually led to wars that drastically changed the nation such as the Persian and Peloponnesian
Wars, which both involved the two most infamous city states, Sparta, and Athens. The inevitable
event, that factored in Ancient Greece s downfall, was Alexander the Great s death. Alexander played
a major role in Ancient Greece s unity. Alexander was one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of the prosperous cities obtained its own government system, which made the cities like
individual countries. These cities are known as city states or polis . There was not a definite
government system in these city states. Some city states had a democracy, but others had a monarchy,
or aristocracy (Mavommatis). The city states were constantly at odds with each other because they
would abuse and take for granted one another s resources such as; stealing goods and taking it to one s
homeland without ever paying for it (Mavommatis). Two of the most notorious city states, which both
were vastly different, were Sparta and Athens (O Connell 41 43). For example, in an article written by
Panayiotis P. Mavommatis, Mavommatis described the two city states by pointing out education was
mostly about philosophy and arts in Athens, and solely military in Sparta (Mavommatis). Athens

The Effects of Greed and The American Dream in The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby focuses on the excitement and adventure of the roaring
twenties, a time filled with great economic success and parties said to last the whole decade. New to
Long Island and New York, aspiring bond man Nick Carraway becomes infatuated with the lifestyle of
his rich peers living the American dream . He gains interest in his mysterious neighbor Jay Gatsby,
who lives in an incredible mansion and has a vast amount of wealth. Gatsby uses his money to try and
steal his love, Daisy Buchanan from her unfaithful husband, Tom. Characters in The Great Gatsby are
unhappy and unfulfilled with their lives due to greed manipulating their view of The American Dream.
This skewed perception also affects their unreasonable life expectations and their narcissistic thoughts
create a larger potential for failure, such as Gatsby s extravagant plan to steal Daisy Buchanan.
Jay Gatsby is a self made man, he turned himself from a farm boy to one of the richest men in
America at the time and bought himself a beautiful mansion on West Egg, Long Island with the other
new millionaires. In contrast to the newly rich, there are those who have inherited their wealth from
family before them such as Tom and Daisy Buchanan. These people were lucky to be born into their
lives and reside on East Egg along with other family s with old money . Readers come to easily

Should Computers Be Allowed in the Classroom
Introduction
Today, professors at colleges all around the country are asking the same question. They are wondering
whether laptops in the college classroom actually facilitates a student s ability to learn or rather it
distracts them from the lesson being taught. Laptops were originally considered to be a small niche
market and were thought suitable mostly for specialized field applications such as the military, the
Internal Revenue Service, accountants and sales representatives. But today, there are already more
laptops than desktops in businesses, and laptops are becoming obligatory for student use and more
popular for general use.
The conflict lies in that a majority of college professors believe that allowing students to use laptop ...

* Ease of Access Most laptops have doors on the underside that allow the user to access the memory,
hard drive and other components, by simply flipping the laptop to access the doors. This makes laptop
repair and troubleshooting far easier, and less expensive than most would think. * Low Power
Consumption A typical laptop uses 20 90 W, compared to 100 800 W for desktops. This could be
particularly beneficial for colleges which run hundreds of personal computers, multiplying the
potential savings. * Quiet Laptops are often very quiet because they produce less heat and therefore
require fewer and slower cooling fans making them less of a distraction in the classroom environment.
* Battery a charged laptop can run several hours in case of a power outage and is not affected by short
power interruptions and brownouts. * All in One designed to be portable, laptops have everything
integrated in to the chassis.
Disadvantages:
* Cost Even though laptops provide less performance than desktop computers, they tend to be far
more expensive due to its more compact and complex design. * Performance Laptops are not only
significantly more expensive than desktop computers, but they do so at a lower performance level.
Laptops as a result are disadvantaged when dealing with database, math, engineering, and financial
software. * Upgradeability Laptops have very few upgradeable components and are typically limited

Communism And The Soviet Union
Have you ever had a case of the hiccups that you just couldn t seem to get rid of? You tried all the
tricks in the book, from holding your breath, to standing upside down, but those pestering hiccups still
stuck around? In a sense, many Eastern European countries had a persistent case of the hiccups,
during the early 1990s, which they were trying to shake. Except this wasn t your average case of the
hiccups, these hiccups were called communism. Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, most
post Soviet satellite states began making the transition to become liberal democracies. However, the
transition from communist governments to democratic governments was not necessarily a smooth one
for most of the Eastern European countries. Decades of oppressive Soviet rule and deep rooted
communist parties made ties to the Soviet Union especially hard to cut. Ukraine, in particular,
struggled mightily to break away from the Russian communists, and that struggle is still continuing
today. In the form of a corrupt government and pro Russian supporters in South and Eastern Ukraine,
roadblocks were created on the Ukrainian road to democracy that they are still trying to maneuver. In
analyzing the challenges posed to Ukraine in their continuing transition to a liberal democracy, it is
important to start in 1990, when Ukraine officially declared independence. This declaration included
principles of self determination, democracy, and the priority of Ukrainian law over Soviet law.

The Marketing Strategy Analysis of Starbucks Corporation
Introduction
Under today s ever changing market, strategic marketing planning has become more and more
significant whether of the functional or the fundamental. Especially, although financial crisis leaded
economy growth slowdown, it did not cause a serious influence for chain coffee shop. As Howard
Schultz said, CEO of Starbucks, I don t think we had a business plan for the severity of what has taken
place. History demonstrated to us that a downturn in the economy would not affect us, and in fact, we
would be recession proof. (Katie Couric, 2008) Based on Financial Times, Starbucks revealed that

(Jobber and Fahy, 2009) Therefore, the strategic marketing becomes more and more significant since
it can help organizations to find its own position of the competitive market; thus, they just can justify
their strategy against whether the existing or the potential competitors. Therefore, organizations
should classify the marketing environment including competitive environment (its immediate
competitors and customers) and the macro environment (the wider social, political and economic
setting they operate.) In order to develop the right strategy whether for short term or long term,
organizations not only need to know the concept of strategic marketing but also how to use it within
the competitive marketing.
In addition, fundamental to strategic thinking is the concept of strategic fit. It indicates how
organizations match the internal resources and capabilities with the opportunities in the external
environment. The strategic model used to evaluate the appropriateness of the vision or decision
making of the organizations (Hooley G et al 2008). A competitive advantage can be developed
successfully by a suitable and unique combination of capabilities and resources. Nevertheless,
organizations should pay more attention to classify the differentiation between resources and
capabilities. Capabilities are focused on the learning effect of the organizations

Draft Page 2 of 11
Introduction
The Kyoto Protocol of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change calls for the
industrialized countries listed in Annex I of the Convention to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions
to 1990 levels during the period of 2008 2012. The three flexible mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol
allow Annex I countries to achieve part of their emission reduction commitments abroad. The CDM
allows an Annex I Party to implement a project that reduces greenhouse gas emissions or, subject to
constraints, removes greenhouse gases by carbon sequestration, or sinks, in the territory of a non
Annex I Party. The resulting certified emission reductions, known as CERs, can then be used by the
Annex I Party to help meet its emission reduction target. The host country will benefit from the
increased investment flows and from the transfer of clean technologies instrumental to advance the
sustainable development goals.
All countries wishing to participate in the CDM have to designate a National CDM Authority with the
task of evaluating and approving the projects. This authority is termed the
Designated National Authority (DNA). The main tasks to be carried out by the DNA for the
CDM are to provide written approval to the project participants that participation by the Host country
is voluntary and to

A License Should Be Required To Be A Parent
From everyday experiences to recent news stories, I have come across many issues that large families
face in America. Poverty and child abuse are top issues in the United States. For this reason, I believe
the government should start regulating the number of children people can have based on financial
stability, place of residence, criminal history, and other qualifications. The ideal American family
image is one that provides parents that gracefully accommodate and nurture their children with open
arms, financial cohesion, warm meals, and a roof over their heads. Although one might think these
characteristics are a given, they are not as common as the general population widely assumes. There
are many individuals deemed unfit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, there is no way a test or skill assessment could predict illnesses, or things that could change
living situations in the future. However, predicting if a parent would be ideal to start a family and raise
children is possible. Being certified before having children can benefit both families and the economy.
The license would ensure that the parents in question have enough resources to afford children, and
will require a full background and criminal history check to evaluate their skills as a parent. Multiple
skill sets play a factor. Previous incarcerations and financial resources play a crucial role as people
who have been criminally negligent beforehand have the tendency to commit another crime. This
thorough skill assessment will be kept on record. Moreover, there is a strategic interview and
background check on those who wish to adopt. We do not let just anyone adopt a child, nor do we go
without checking up on his or her history to predict the likelihood of that person being a good
candidate for a parent. There are forms to be filled out, house inspection, and an overview of their
income to make sure they are suitable to take in and care for this child. According to a study published

Harriet Tubman s 5 Paragraph Essay
I have chosen to write a five paragraph essay about Harriet Tubman. I chose her because i was really
amazed over all the things she did, not just escaping the slavery herself, but she also went back,
risking her life, 19 times to help other slaves escape. Harriet was born in 1880, Dorchester County,
Maryland, USA. She got 93 years old and died in 1913 in New York. She was married two times. The
first time with John Tubman from 1844 to 1851, and the second time with Nelson Davies from 1869 to
his death in 1888. She adopted a girl named Gertie with her husband Nelson Davies. During the civil
war she was a nurse and a civil rights fighter. She belonged to Christianity her whole life. Harriet had
a rough life, but she managed to help over 300 people out of slavery including herself. She did always
carry a gun, and she was not afraid to use it. If the slaves agreed to escape, they wasn t allowed to go
back. If they ever suggested to go back, she pointed the gun against their head and said; You walk on,
or die . There was this time, a man who did not think they would get all the way to Canada and wanted

ABA Intervention
It is important to establish and maintain effective communication, professionalism, and a scientific
relationship with clients. It is essential to always preserve the relationship because it is vital to the
client s success of treatment. It is also imperative to consider the way in which information is
delivered to clients and their family or caregivers. One must eliminate jargoning while attempting to
communicate with clients. The use of scientific terminology of a particular study can become lost
when engaging with a client or family members. By eliminating jargoning we are reaching them in a
way that is easily understood by those not proficient in those terms of the field. Those that understand

When evaluating a client you are wondering and determining the type of treatment or intervention you
would like to introduce. As each client is different, what works for client A may not be effective with
client B. In determining the type of intervention there should be a certain level of research along with
the gained professional and educational knowledge obtained. While researching treatments there are
bound to be a multitude of fad treatments. It is important to research and steer away from alternate
treatments also known as AltTs. These treatments are those that attempt to mimic ABA interventions
but are not scientifically found. There has been little or no research provided, they have no scientific

Uncle Tom s Cabin
Leo Tolstoy once said, All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a journey or a stranger
comes to town. This statement can be shown in the works almost any great author. specifically The
Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher
Stowe, and 1984 by George Orwell support Tolstoy s quote. These authors with their various works
show that Leo Tolstoy s famous quote is true. Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe was a German author in
the 1700 s. He studied Law in Leipzig, Germany and enjoyed writing love poems. He is most famous
for his story The Sorrows of Young Werther was modeled after his own life. It was the bitterness of
this experience that led Goethe to write his Sorrows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tom, Eliza, Henry, every bounty hunter, and pretty much every main character in this story travels
somewhere as well as arrives somewhere new. Eliza and her son head up north to find safety with her
husband, Tom arrives at a new slave owners home, Loker goes through a change in his beliefs, and
Eva goes through the journey of life. In addition, the issue of slavery itself is a journey. From the
beginning when slavery was mainstream, to the Emancipation Proclamation, slavery is a journey that
the American people and African Americans took. Uncle Tom s Cabin resolves, or appears to resolve,
the most profound dilemma of the day; it achieves for its audience, through its struggles with human
fallibility and moral grayness, a certitude which makes its own position of judgement seems very like
the Judgement of God (Bellin 276). These are only a few instances of the many examples that help to

What Was The Impact Of The Black Panther Party
Nick Smith
J. Buergel
Civil Rights
5/11/16
The impact of The Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be
the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his
life is short. We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people
(Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval.
Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people based on race, color,
religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven weak. Unlike other
national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black Panther Party for Self
Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently seen campaigning armed
and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, the founders of the Black Panthers,
believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin Luther King had failed, and had very
little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights movement. Newton casually addresses
his violent conducts, stating, And people say, well Huey you re so violent. Why are you so violent
Huey? ...And I say, well hey, existence is violent; I exist, therefore I am violent in that way (PBS).
Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale established the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in Oakland
California, during October of 1966.

Essay about Not Really The Working Poor in Nickel and Dimed
Barbara Ehrenreich would make a bad representative of the working poor because she lacks three
major things that a woman of that class would actually possess. Ehrenreich doesn t meet the true
qualifications of a working class woman: she lacks the background, she lacks respect of the money she
earns, and she lacks certain personal or social qualities that ordinarily are possessed by the working
poor.
Ehrenreich is part of the upper middle class; she is privileged to have a job in which she makes money
by sitting at her desk and writing (E 2). She has never considered herself one of the working poor
before this experiment, even though she explains, the low wage way of life had never been many
degrees of separation away (E ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As it turns out, the mere fact of having a unit to myself makes me an aristocrat... (E 70). She has
enough money to stay in her own place while almost every other person she speaks of is living with
another person. That other person isn t just another body, it s another contributing wage. [My
coworkers] live with spouses or grown children or they have other jobs in addition to this one (E 178).
The wear and tear of simply having to deal with relationships and to live with another person, not
always just a spouse or family member, but sometimes a friend or simply a coworker, is something
Ehrenreich does not have to endure.
The second trait that I find Ehrenreich lacks is a certain respect of money that one of the working class
would possess. One of the first examples I saw of this was when she bought her uniform pants in
Florida for Jerry s. Then there is the $30 I had to spend on the regulation tan slacks worn by Jerry s
servers a setback it could take weeks to absorb (E 39). This foolish decision on buying pants at $30 is
not something a working poor woman would do. Alyssa at Wal Mart proves this: That afternoon,
Alyssa... had come by ladies to inquire about a polo shirt that had been clearanced at $7. Was there
any chance it might fall still further? (E 159). I also see that she is rather careless with her money
when she explains her situation in

Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol was one of the most popular artists of his time in the 1960s, producing over 2,247
works. He was born under the name Andrew Warhola on August 6th of 1928 into a small apartment in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born to Andrej and Julia Warhola, the youngest of three boys.
However, in 1974 the family moved closer to their church and were dedicated Catholics, regularly
attending mass and observing their Eastern European heritage. Whilst a child, Warhol suffered from
many ailments. One of these was a neurological disorder called Sydenham s chorea, commonly called
St. Vitus dance. This resulted in involuntary movements, occasionally keeping him home from school.
During this time spent away, he would read magazines. His parents ... Show more content on

Warhol s sexuality is known to be that of homosexual. The painting is of his romantic partner, John
Lennon. Warhol has several pieces of this man in various form, though the same dull facial expression

the line art of the artwork. This draws attention to the features and structure of his face, perfectly
captured under Warhol s artistic talent. While the man s expression is that of a resting face, the strong
use of varying colors from orange, to blue, to green, this jump around the color wheel provides
interest and character into the piece. His skin tone varies from the nine faces on the work, often
showing contrasting colors in each face painted, making each one unique and different in it s own way

History Of Italy s Liberation Day Essay
The events that occur to a country in the past shape how the country is today. In Italy there is a day
that represents a very important movement in history. Italy s liberation day is celebrated to remember
the fallen fighting during WWII, and in the Resistance. This day was a day that marked a dictatorship
to fall, and a much needed improvement to occur on Italy. The date is April 25, Italy s Liberation Day.
Every year on this day not only Italy but all around, people gather from far and near to celebrate this
holiday. On April 25 streets all over are crowded with thousands of people enjoying what is happening
around them. This is one of the most important days in Italy because it marks the end of Mussolini
regime. Parades, marches, concerts, food festivals, political rallies, and speeches honoring the
partisans are all taking place on this day. Schools and many public places are closed as well. The one
main tradition that exists and will always exist is the song Bella Ciao playing throughout the town.
This song was played during WWll and gave hope to all who were fighting. Although this is a very
festive day, the main purpose of April 25 in Italy is to honor those who have served, and risked their
lives in the Italian Resistance for others to have freedom in the future. People all around can and will
celebrate this day. Even people, who do not understand the real meaning behind this holiday, still
come together and enjoy themselves, because freedom is what the soldiers

Privatization, the Best Option for Social Security Reform...
Many are skeptical about the future of Social Security and are worried they will not receive the full
pay out of benefits in the future. In the following pages I will state the reasons why Social Security is
in need of reform, describe privatization and the pros and cons, and why privatization is the best
option for Social Security reform. Current problems with the Social Security fund exist, and are the
reasons why Social Security is in the need of reform. According to Forbes Magazine, the fund is
expected to run out by 2033 (Teal 2013). At this point, money will still be coming in, but will not pay
out the full benefits to recipients. The worker to retiree ratio is continuously declining, being
approximately three workers to every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This started the idea of having ownership over a private account that was personally controlled.
Account holders were directly receiving the money they invested in Social Security, and have the
option to spend the money as they see fit. Many pros and cons arise with this option of Social Security
reform. With other options the government takes the risk, but with privatization it is a personal risk.
When account holders reach retirement they are able to withdraw from the account and use the money
as they see fit. Government does not control the amount or what the account holders use the money
for, leaving recipients with the choice to spend as much of the money as they wish and as quickly as
they want. With no control over the usage of savings, this defeats the purpose of Social Security as a
safety net . The biggest downfall to this reform is the transition period. Not only would the transition
be a high cost, but those that are closest to retirement could be left with smaller savings in their private
account. If young workers create private accounts then they are not supporting current retirees, and
they are not receiving what they should be (Mitchell 2011). Another concern is that not all recipients
will end up with a fair amount of earnings in their account. Such

Spoon River Poem Theme
(Discussion on theme people often sleep with the enemy in Spoon River Anthology ) Creative title
(will come back when feeling creative) For reasons unknown the people of Spoon River have
continued to make the same mistake over, and over, and over again. The people of Spoon River have a
nasty habit of sleeping with the enemy. That is to say they surround themselves with those that seek to
harm them, both mentally and physically. Some examples of this sort of behavior is Loise Smith, Dora

Dora Williams was thrown away like old trash by Reuben Pantier so to recover from the hurt she ran
away to Springfield. In Springfield she met a newly rich man whose father had just died and left his
money for his son. They were married and he was found dead a year later. She received the very
money that was passed down to him, with this money she ran away to New York. Once there, she met
an older man who fell instantly for her. He died suddenly in her arms one night. She again earned a
large sum of money. From there she moved on to Paris. In Paris she met a count Navigato, they were
married and then moved to Rome. In Rome the repetition was brought to a screeching halt. In Rome
Dora was poisoned by the very man she married. We went to Rome. He poisoned me, I think. These
were the exact words Dora used in her epitaph. The count Navigato poisoned Dora. In remembrance
of Dora the words Contessa Navigato Implora eternal quiete, were chiseled in the Campo Santo
overlooking the sea. Dora Williams spent so much of her life having men fall for her, that she never
expected to be killed by one of them. Dora Williams slept with the enemy and payed with her

Film Analysis Of The Great Gatsby
Director Baz Luhrmann s approach in producing The Great Gatsby was If some people are going to
hate it, why not go balls out? (Mensa, Time Magazine) No matter what there would be a myriad of
critics of The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Whether he followed the script entirely, used only classical
and jazz influences for the music or even produced a less intense film someone was going to have a
complaint. So why not give those who are going to hate it something substantial to hold onto? That s
just what he did; using his personal style of incorporating novel themed music with a relative genre
that s popular today. For The Great Gatsby, it was drawing inspiration from the Jazz Age and today s
hip hop, similar to Jazz in the sense of it s uprise from the underground to becoming widely known
and appreciated. Overall the soundtrack touches on old Jazz, party Jazz, and Hip Hop in a way that
reflects the behavior and luxury of the 1920s. As well as aspects of the characters in the novel,
especially within the song $100 bill by Jay Z. Most of the soundtrack was altered and produced
specifically for the film based on the novel. The producers of the film collaborated with several artists,
including Jay Z, Lana Del Rey, and Florence+The Machine to develop instrumentals that flowed with
the scenes. The co producer and supervisor Anton Monsted did not choose any song or artist by
accident. He carefully researched the background and relativity of the plot and genre for The Great
Gatsby.

Tim Male had one question in mind How do we get more people to vote? and introduced the proposal.
By trying to lower the age I believe Miller wanted to catch the attention of teenagers in the hope that
they would want to vote but forgot that not many teens come from a home that is politically involved
so this was something new but not something exciting. For example in the article Ben Miller states the
he has no burning issues motivating him, not even the legalization of marijuana and he even
accompanied his mother to a recent candidate forum and was asked if he would ve gone on his own
and his answer was No Way! . Previously Ben Miller stated that being apart of the small group of
teenagers was a valuable privilege to vote it goes to show that the opportunity is great but that there is
no genuine interest to voting. Fred Schultz later states that the result won t be with time time and
effort Takoma city devoted to the age voting issue and it will not achieve the goal of wanting to
engage young voters in

Aurelian Roman Emperors Essay
Beginning with the rise of the Roman Empire, many emperors of differing abilities would rule Rome.
Some would become men of great renown in Roman history, such as Trajan, but others were
despicable leaders, such as Nero and Caligula. However, all of them changed the course of the Roman
Empire, with many of them becoming known for their great accomplishments. One of these emperors
was Aurelian. Aurelian was a great military leader, strong emperor, and a strict administrator. Also,
unlike most of the emperors, his common birth did not suggest his future destiny with greatness.
Aurelian was born in the province of Rome in 214 AD. Unlike prior emperors of Rome, his father was
a commoner, and had no ties to politics. Like most commoners did during the time, Aurelian joined
the legion. The legion was Rome s version of the army. He quickly showed his military talent and
served most of his career as a cavalry commander. His military success led to his first introduction to
the politics of Rome. Due to his prowess as a cavalry commander, he became Gallenus escort.
Gallienus was the 41st emperor of Rome. However, his service to the emperor didn t last long.
Gallienus died at the hands of an assassin while laying siege against the Roman general Claudius. It is
reputed that Aurelian may have taken part in the plot. Soon after the emperor s death, Claudius
became emperor. During his reign, Aurelian soared through the ranks of the military. Then, in 270 AD,
Claudius fell ill to the

Is Holden Caulfield Ignorant
Adolescence, this is a time where you figure out who you truly are. This soul searching leads to self
realization. Holden Caulfield from The Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger, has trouble accepting
himself. Throughout his days he would put on a cap just to be someone else. It is his get away place, a
place of isolation. A way for him to seclude from the world and become someone he isn t. This is
relatable to numerous teens. Though Holden could be described using numerous adjectives, Holden s
character can be perfectly described as ignorant, a liar, and a slacker. He is ignorant because he does
not learn from his mistakes. He is a compulsive liar. Finally, he is a slacker because he avoids work.
Holden is just like countless people out there who do not apply themselves. You see, Holden could be
smart. He could be successful. He just doesn t have the motivation or ambition to do so. Being
ignorant means to lack knowledge or awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated. Holden is known to
be this way because he gets himself into the most severe situations. However, once he is out of them,
he will have the same issue later on. This is because Holden is not astute. He repeats those mistakes
because he does not learn from them. This makes him ignorant. An example of a situation is when he
gets in a fist fight with Stradlater. I tried to sock him, with all my might, right smack in the toothbrush,
so it would split his goddam throat open, (Salinger, pg 43). From this we know that

Violent Video Games Cause Violence Essay
In 2008, a study called Grand Theft Childhood reported that about 60% of middle school boys play
violent video games while 40% do not. The study showed that boys who played violent video games
were more violent toward their colleagues compared to children who do not play any violent video
games. Moreover, studies showed that violent video games teach people that violence is an acceptable
strategy to solve problems. Thus, people who play violent video games have lower belief in the use of
nonviolent strategies. Violent video games also increase the rate of aggression. In
2009, a study showed that after playing violent video games, people take up to four minutes to calm
and from five to ten minutes for the heart rate to return to the baseline. This time is ... Show more

All media types like movies and books may be labeled as violent due to containing violence. Statistics
showed that 37% of video games are violent, this percentage was the highest among all types of
media.
On the other hand, regarding supporting playing video games, statistics which was made between
1995 and 2008 showed that the rate of crimes committed by teenagers decreased by 71.9%. Moreover,
the arrest rate for all crimes declined 49.3%.
However, the popularity of violent video games around the world in this period increased by four
times. Thus, we can deduce that violent video games do not affect the crime rate as thought.
Furthermore, in 2004, the United States Secret Service made a review about aggression and attacks in
schools. The review showed that only oneeighths of bully student play violent video games. On the
other hand, the other students were interested in other violent types of media such as violent movies
and books. Indeed, violent video games provide a good replacement for aggressive sports and playing.
Thus, teenagers can express aggression through violent video games without any physical harm.

Leaders Should Be A Successful Leader Gary Yukl (2006) defines leadership as the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how to do it, and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish shared objectives. (Educational leadership: A reference handbook 2002) A leader needs to take control of its employees in a workplace. They should be a trusted person, and also be a people person. Without communication, effective leadership will become a failure, due to the fact that nobody will understand what is going on in the work place. In addition there will be an discussion on the organizational culture of two UK businesses, as well Organisational Culture Organisational culture is described as a company s personality or DNA. (Education Portal) has defined organisational culture as a system of shared assumptions, values, and beliefs, which governs how people behave in organizations . There are seven dimensions or characteristics of organisational culture. The Organisational Culture Profile (OCP) is one of many typologies that businesses use, to help them not only to describe its culture, but also identify, measure and managing it more effectively. Each organisation has a unique culture; every company will have a different value for each of the characteristics; furthermore when they are combined they define the organisations culture. The difference between strong and weak culture is that if a business has a weak culture, then there will be a wide variety of opinions, whereas if a business has a strong culture than majority of the employees will have and share the same beliefs and values of the organisation. This will not only have an impact but will also influence the behaviour of the members of the business, as they know what is required of them; therefore the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis of the Allegory of the Cave Analysis of the Allegory of The Cave Plato s Allegory of the Cave presents a visualization of people who are slaves that have been chained in front of a fire their whole lives. These people observe the shadows of different things shown on the cave wall that is in front of them. The shadows are the only reality the slaves know. This is because they have never seen anything else to compare them to. Plato argues that there is a critical flaw in how people mistake their limited perceptions as reality, as truth, and as what they believe to be what is good. The allegory reveals how the flaw affects our education, our spirituality, and our politics. The flaw that Plato speaks about is how people trust what they see and think it is real. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato says it is difficult to go back down into the darkness after somebody has seen the light, but they must. They must educate the slaves about the world above, so the slaves understand that power is not the greater good. Even though it will be about ten times harder to readjust to the darkness after descending into the cave again they will see about ten times better, because now they know the shadows are not real. They will govern with knowledge of good and truth. I believe that the Allegory of the Cave simply states that we must question reality and we must not trust just what our eyes tell us. We must know more than just what the eyes see. The slave in the allegory that makes the ascent and eventually rejects the truth of the shadows comes to know a truer truth. But then they believe what their eyes show them that is on this world. They have forgotten that they must question reality, because how are they to know that this reality is realer than that of the caves ? Somebody may wonder what if we are the shadows in the cave. And who knows. It corresponds to having an imaginary friend when a person is younger. The imaginary friend is very real to whoever the befriended person is, but as the person gets older or makes the ascent to the world of knowledge, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Paul II also emphasizes how the Eucharist is a priceless treasure, (25). Alike, the Catholic Intellectual Tradition is also a priceless treasure of the church. Without, the tradition, the Church would definitely be different today. But this isn t the only resemblance among the Eucharist and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. To begin, the Catholic Intellectual Tradition is Eucharistic because it is living. The tradition is constantly growing and being added to, so it can be passed on through generations. Correspondingly, the Eucharist is also centered on growth. The encyclical reads, The Second Vatican Council teaches that the celebration of the Eucharist is at the center of the process of the Church s growth...The Apostles, by accepting in the Upper Room Jesus invitation: Take, eat , Drink of it, all of you (Mt 26:26 27), entered for the first time into sacramental communion with him. From that time forward, until the end of the age, the Church is built up through sacramental communion with the Son of God who was sacrificed for our sake, (21). Outfielders learn to gauge the overall distance of fly balls just before the ball reaches the height of its arc. Exceptional outfielders have the ability to make the same calculations as the baseball begins rising when hit. It never ceases to amaze humanity with its unique creatures and habitats. One ocean environment I was fortunate to visit was the coral reefs near St. John at the Virgin Island Environmental Research Center. I learned interesting things about this unique living system and how they support many organisms, but one thing left me very bothered. On a tour of the coral reefs near a beach on St. John, I observed many pale detached corals. Not only that, but I saw the picture of these coral reefs from years before and the differences were enormous. In the old picture, the coral reefs were vibrant and many. It seems like now, the coral that was once ravishing and was in abundance are depleting and they are not as vibrant as they were before. I spoke to one of the researchers and they told me that there are only 15% coral reefs left today because of several factors which include pollution, climate change, and unsavory fishing practices that ravaged this once beautiful ecosystem. If these reefs are not protected in time it could be detrimental to the existence of many marine organisms. Coral reefs are created from very small organisms called polyps that attach to any hard surface they land on. Once they are settled, they take carbon dioxide from the ocean waters and secrete a limestone substance out to create a protective skeleton like layer. The obvious question is whether a common European leadership approach will emerge from the economic union or whether leadership practices will remain culturally bound to each nation. One group of observers expects that as Europe s nations converge economically, a hybrid form of leadership will replace individual cultural practices. An opposed group asserts that cultural values are so ingrained that any effort to consolidate management practices will meet strong resistance. They firmly believe that leadership behavior will remain differentiated in each nation. In order to achieve that, the neoclassical economy also assumes that this profit maximization is being done by every rational individual which will weigh risk and return in every opportunity. Although there is no issue with profit maximization in Islam as long as it does not lead to harm or exploitation to society (Al aali 2012), the means of maximizing profit is more than just weighing the risk and return. In his short story, The Strangers that Came to Town , Ambrose Flack is showing that true freedom is about being accepted. He shows this through the characterization of Mrs. Duvitch, Mr. Duvitch and Andy. Mrs. Duvitch s quiet and reserved nature made her the ideal victim of rumors. The less people knew about her the more room left for their imaginations. For example she is said to be the victim of an obscure skin disease and that every morning she shook scales out of the bed sheet (3). The rumors began to cease after her dinner party with Andy s family where her true nature began to be revealed. Following the dinner party, Andy s mother invites her to a tea party Where her delicate manners, and the fine needlework which engaged her, won the approval of the local housewives who were present (15). When she felt accepted by the ladies, Mrs. Duvitch was finally confident enough to invite them to her house. After a while Mrs. Duvitch found courage to ask these people into her house (16). Saccharomycetes Cerevisiae is one of these organisms and has been in use by humans for millennia. Cerevisiae has undergone genetic modification to do some pretty wild things. THC and other cannabinoids can be produced by engineered yeasts, which have the same functions and chemistry as those from the plant, but are FDA approved for medical uses, while the plant itself is not (Khamsi, 2015). Engineered s. cerevisiae with a reconstituted 7 gene pathway is feasible for the synthesis and production of codeine and morphine from (R) reticuline (Fossati, et.al, 2015). S. cerevisiae cells fed (R) reticuline, salutaridine or codeine as substrates showed that all enzymes were functionally co expressed in yeast and that activity of salutaridine reductase and codeine O demethylase likely limit flux to morphine synthesis (Fossati, et.al, 2015). • 20. Pros And Cons Of Army Simulations Theory Abstract Overview/Summary of Both Articles (naming the Article Titles and Authors) This paper explores four published articles published in relation to the theory presented by Raymond A. Noe in Employee Training Development. All four articles were published online (Internet) and compared to Noe s text offline (non Internet). The topics discussed are the pros and cons of Army Simulations and the virtual training environment of today s soldiers. Three of the four articles confirm Noe s opinion of the value added (both monetarily, as well as, the ability to train in situations that would not be possible to train for in real life) of virtual simulations (Sims) in the Army training environment. Noe in Employee Training Development, the world of virtual simulations in the U.S. Army is not only cost efficient, but also a training tool that allows soldiers to focus on important safety issues and emergency procedures that are impossible to replicate (Noe, 2017) in real life events. (Vergun, 2016). Simulations are used all across the world to train soldiers of all ranks in basic, and advanced, procedures. The Dominican Republic has evolved from a Spanish colony, while Haiti was originally French. Throughout the years, Haiti has become known for suffering from poverty, misery, and distress. Pauperism has become a huge issue for the Haitians and prosperity of the country as a whole due to a lack of health, education, and social services. Back in 2014 and 2015, the school I used to attend in the Dominican Republic organized trips to orphanages in Haiti. 80 percent of the 32 000 orphans across the 760 orphanages have parents who want them, but they are not able to support their children. The organized trips were crucial in forming me as a caring and loving person. Before, I wouldn t have been able to imagine how heart breaking watching these starving, cheerless children would be. There are several people who are believed to be the real William Shakespeare including Sir Francis Bacon, the Earl of Oxford, the Earl of Essex, Christopher Marlowe and Queen Elizabeth I herself (Mabillard). This is mainly due to the fact that during the time of Shakespeare these were highly educated and popular people. Also, there are some theories which state that Shakespeare is really just an out of town actor who took the credit for countless works done by other authors and playwrights (did Shakespeare actually write all his plays), and there is a record of him acting in front of Queen Elizabeth in 1594 (Chandy). The main reason that these people believed to be the real Shakespeare, is Shakespeare lacks the background, education, and breeding in order to write such great plays and poems. In a sense, many Eastern European countries had a persistent case of the hiccups, during the early 1990s, which they were trying to shake. Except this wasn t your average case of the hiccups, these hiccups were called communism. Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, most post Soviet satellite states began making the transition to become liberal democracies. However, the transition from communist governments to democratic governments was not necessarily a smooth one for most of the Eastern European countries. Decades of oppressive Soviet rule and deep rooted communist parties made ties to the Soviet Union especially hard to cut. Ukraine, in particular, struggled mightily to break away from the Russian communists, and that struggle is still continuing today. In the form of a corrupt government and pro Russian supporters in South and Eastern Ukraine, roadblocks were created on the Ukrainian road to democracy that they are still trying to maneuver. In analyzing the challenges posed to Ukraine in their continuing transition to a liberal democracy, it is important to start in 1990, when Ukraine officially declared independence. This declaration included principles of self determination, democracy, and the priority of Ukrainian law over Soviet law. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, organizations should classify the marketing environment including competitive environment (its immediate competitors and customers) and the macro environment (the wider social, political and economic setting they operate.) In order to develop the right strategy whether for short term or long term, organizations not only need to know the concept of strategic marketing but also how to use it within the competitive marketing. The three flexible mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol allow Annex I countries to achieve part of their emission reduction commitments abroad. The CDM allows an Annex I Party to implement a project that reduces greenhouse gas emissions or, subject to constraints, removes greenhouse gases by carbon sequestration, or sinks, in the territory of a non Annex I Party. The resulting certified emission reductions, known as CERs, can then be used by the Annex I Party to help meet its emission reduction target. These treatments are those that attempt to mimic ABA interventions but are not scientifically found. There has been little or no research provided, they have no scientific data, or they may be unsupported. Very few if any have cohesive research studies on entire treatment packages. Using any of these treatments would be deemed unethical. That is why research is key. A lot of AltTs disguise themselves as ABA; when in fact ABA is a science and science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. ABA seeks to understand and alter behaviors by observation, study, and proven scientific techniques. Using such treatments could, potentially, do more harm than good. We must remember to respect our practice and bestow our best interest and maintain its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Uncle Tom s Cabin Leo Tolstoy once said, All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a journey or a stranger comes to town. This statement can be shown in the works almost any great author. specifically The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, and 1984 by George Orwell support Tolstoy s quote. These authors with their various works show that Leo Tolstoy s famous quote is true. Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe was a German author in the 1700 s. He studied Law in Leipzig, Germany and enjoyed writing love poems. He is most famous for his story The Sorrows of Young Werther was modeled after his own life. Tom, Eliza, Henry, every bounty hunter, and pretty much every main character in this story travels somewhere as well as arrives somewhere new. Eliza and her son head up north to find safety with her husband, Tom arrives at a new slave owners home, Loker goes through a change in his beliefs, and Eva goes through the journey of life. In addition, the issue of slavery itself is a journey. From the beginning when slavery was mainstream, to the Emancipation Proclamation, slavery is a journey that the American people and African Americans took. Uncle Tom s Cabin resolves, or appears to resolve, the most profound dilemma of the day; it achieves for its audience, through its struggles with human fallibility and moral grayness, a certitude which makes its own position of judgement seems very like the Judgement of God (Bellin 276). • 42. What Was The Impact Of The Black Panther Party Nick Smith J. Buergel Civil Rights 5/11/16 The impact of The Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his life is short. We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people (Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval. Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven weak. Unlike other national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black Panther Party for Self Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently seen campaigning armed and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, the founders of the Black Panthers, believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin Luther King had failed, and had very little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights movement. Newton casually addresses his violent conducts, stating, And people say, well Huey you re so violent. Why are you so violent Huey? ...And I say, well hey, existence is violent; I exist, therefore I am violent in that way (PBS). Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale established the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in Oakland California, during October of 1966. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Essay about Not Really The Working Poor in Nickel and Dimed Barbara Ehrenreich would make a bad representative of the working poor because she lacks three major things that a woman of that class would actually possess. Ehrenreich doesn t meet the true qualifications of a working class woman: she lacks the background, she lacks respect of the money she earns, and she lacks certain personal or social qualities that ordinarily are possessed by the working poor. Ehrenreich is part of the upper middle class; she is privileged to have a job in which she makes money by sitting at her desk and writing (E 2). She has never considered herself one of the working poor before this experiment, even though she explains, the low wage way of life had never been many degrees of separation away (E ... She has enough money to stay in her own place while almost every other person she speaks of is living with another person. That other person isn t just another body, it s another contributing wage. [My coworkers] live with spouses or grown children or they have other jobs in addition to this one (E 178). The wear and tear of simply having to deal with relationships and to live with another person, not always just a spouse or family member, but sometimes a friend or simply a coworker, is something Ehrenreich does not have to endure. The second trait that I find Ehrenreich lacks is a certain respect of money that one of the working class would possess. One of the first examples I saw of this was when she bought her uniform pants in Florida for Jerry s. Then there is the $30 I had to spend on the regulation tan slacks worn by Jerry s servers a setback it could take weeks to absorb (E 39). This foolish decision on buying pants at $30 is not something a working poor woman would do. Alyssa at Wal Mart proves this: That afternoon, Alyssa... had come by ladies to inquire about a polo shirt that had been clearanced at $7. Was there any chance it might fall still further? (E 159). I also see that she is rather careless with her money when she explains her situation in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the following pages I will state the reasons why Social Security is in need of reform, describe privatization and the pros and cons, and why privatization is the best option for Social Security reform. Current problems with the Social Security fund exist, and are the reasons why Social Security is in the need of reform. According to Forbes Magazine, the fund is expected to run out by 2033 (Teal 2013). At this point, money will still be coming in, but will not pay out the full benefits to recipients. This started the idea of having ownership over a private account that was personally controlled. Account holders were directly receiving the money they invested in Social Security, and have the option to spend the money as they see fit. Many pros and cons arise with this option of Social Security reform. With other options the government takes the risk, but with privatization it is a personal risk. When account holders reach retirement they are able to withdraw from the account and use the money as they see fit. Government does not control the amount or what the account holders use the money for, leaving recipients with the choice to spend as much of the money as they wish and as quickly as they want. With no control over the usage of savings, this defeats the purpose of Social Security as a safety net . The biggest downfall to this reform is the transition period. Not only would the transition be a high cost, but those that are closest to retirement could be left with smaller savings in their private account. If young workers create private accounts then they are not supporting current retirees, and they are not receiving what they should be (Mitchell 2011). Another concern is that not all recipients will end up with a fair amount of earnings in their account. Such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Film Analysis Of The Great Gatsby Director Baz Luhrmann s approach in producing The Great Gatsby was If some people are going to hate it, why not go balls out? (Mensa, Time Magazine) No matter what there would be a myriad of critics of The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Whether he followed the script entirely, used only classical and jazz influences for the music or even produced a less intense film someone was going to have a complaint. So why not give those who are going to hate it something substantial to hold onto? That s just what he did; using his personal style of incorporating novel themed music with a relative genre that s popular today. For The Great Gatsby, it was drawing inspiration from the Jazz Age and today s hip hop, similar to Jazz in the sense of it s uprise from the underground to becoming widely known and appreciated. Overall the soundtrack touches on old Jazz, party Jazz, and Hip Hop in a way that reflects the behavior and luxury of the 1920s. As well as aspects of the characters in the novel, especially within the song $100 bill by Jay Z. Most of the soundtrack was altered and produced specifically for the film based on the novel. The producers of the film collaborated with several artists, including Jay Z, Lana Del Rey, and Florence+The Machine to develop instrumentals that flowed with the scenes. • 50. Aurelian Roman Emperors Essay Beginning with the rise of the Roman Empire, many emperors of differing abilities would rule Rome. Some would become men of great renown in Roman history, such as Trajan, but others were despicable leaders, such as Nero and Caligula. However, all of them changed the course of the Roman Empire, with many of them becoming known for their great accomplishments. One of these emperors was Aurelian. Aurelian was a great military leader, strong emperor, and a strict administrator. Also, unlike most of the emperors, his common birth did not suggest his future destiny with greatness. Aurelian was born in the province of Rome in 214 AD. Unlike prior emperors of Rome, his father was a commoner, and had no ties to politics. Like most commoners did during the time, Aurelian joined the legion. The legion was Rome s version of the army. He quickly showed his military talent and served most of his career as a cavalry commander. His military success led to his first introduction to the politics of Rome. Due to his prowess as a cavalry commander, he became Gallenus escort. Gallienus was the 41st emperor of Rome. However, his service to the emperor didn t last long. Gallienus died at the hands of an assassin while laying siege against the Roman general Claudius. It is reputed that Aurelian may have taken part in the plot. Soon after the emperor s death, Claudius became emperor. During his reign, Aurelian soared through the ranks of the military. Then, in 270 AD, Claudius fell ill to the ... It is his get away place, a place of isolation. A way for him to seclude from the world and become someone he isn t. This is relatable to numerous teens. Though Holden could be described using numerous adjectives, Holden s character can be perfectly described as ignorant, a liar, and a slacker. He is ignorant because he does not learn from his mistakes. He is a compulsive liar. Finally, he is a slacker because he avoids work. Holden is just like countless people out there who do not apply themselves. You see, Holden could be smart. He could be successful. He just doesn t have the motivation or ambition to do so. Being ignorant means to lack knowledge or awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated. Holden is known to be this way because he gets himself into the most severe situations. However, once he is out of them, he will have the same issue later on. This is because Holden is not astute. He repeats those mistakes because he does not learn from them. This makes him ignorant. An example of a situation is when he gets in a fist fight with Stradlater. Moreover, studies showed that violent video games teach people that violence is an acceptable strategy to solve problems. Thus, people who play violent video games have lower belief in the use of nonviolent strategies. Violent video games also increase the rate of aggression.
