Reasons For The Hostages Were Journalists And Aid Workers
ISIL continued to demand ransom payments and other concessions from foreign governments in
exchange for the return of hostages, and it executed the hostages if the governments refused. Most of
the hostages were journalists and aid workers, but in late December 2014 the group captured a
Jordanian pilot after his fighter jet crashed during a mission against ISIL in Syria. News of the pilot s
capture met with consternation in Jordan, where a large proportion of the public had opposed the
country s participation in the anti ISIL coalition. Support for military action surged in February 2015,
however, after an ISIL video showed the pilot being burned to death by his captors. Once ISIL took
control of territory in Iraq and Syria, it engaged in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To help mitigate the manpower losses, IS has turned to conscription in some areas. Iraqi expert
Hisham al Hashimi believes only 30% of the group s fighters are ideologues , with the remainder
joining out of fear or coercion. A significant number of IS fighters are neither Iraqi nor Syrian. In
October 2015, National Counterterrorism Center Director Nicholas Rasmussen told Congress that the
group had attracted more than 28,000 foreign fighters. They included at least 5,000 Westerners,
approximately 250 of them Americans, he said. Studies by the London based International Centre for
the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence (ICSR) and the New York based Soufan Group
suggest that while about a quarter of the foreign fighters are from the West, the majority are from
nearby Arab countries, such as Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Morocco ( What Is Islamic State
? ). By late 2014, cells of militants claiming to be affiliates or direct extensions of ISIL had emerged in
a number of conflict zones in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Existing insurgent groups
such as Boko Haram in Nigeria and some elements of the Taliban in Afghanistan also pledged their
allegiance to ISIL. Outside of Iraq and Syria, ISIL affiliated groups appeared to be most strongly
established in North Africa. In Libya fragmented by factional conflict after the deposal of Muammar
al Qaddafi in 2011 ISIL claimed

A Behavioral Therapist Position For Kids With Autism And...
Midterm The Problem (1 Page) Most companies expect their employees not to just do the work but to
do good work efficiently. At the organization I am a part of it is considered a helping profession and
people either do work in the office or out in the field providing services. However, when you need to
get something done, people do not seem to accomplish tasks at work because of the lack of support or
the distractions that occur. There are three main issues that occur in my job surrounding the lack of
efficient communication, guidance from managers, and scheduling conflicts. Through analyzing these
issues a specific job may be created to help solve these problems affecting this work environment. I
am in a behavioral therapist position for kids with Autism and related disorders at a small firm in
Anaheim, California. I mostly work in homes with the kids and their families. Behavioral therapist
needs to have adequate communication with supervisors and parent consultants since they overlap
with therapists about once a month. The issue within communication is not the lack of resources
because employees are provided with the technology and service to communicate. The issue lies
within the efficiency. Since managers have a great influence on making a better work environment
they are essential to making a team successful. Managers do not frequently communicate the updated
tasks that need to be implemented with a client. When managers communicate the updated tasks there

Christine Castel Biography
Christine took up writing so she could support her family. Her father, Tommaso Di Benvenuto di
Pizzano, was an astrologer to Charles the Fifth, the king at the time. He was respected greatly by
Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they
loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part
of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine
had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight
years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost
his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. Just a few months later, Christine s
husband, Etienne, got the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so devastated she wished she could
just die. The thing was, Christine had to take care of her family or else they would starve to death. She

The first works Christine started to write were poems. Poems make up most of her writing. Usually
those poems were about Christine s long lost love, Etienne, but that was before she realized how badly
women were being treated. Remember, these were the Middle Ages; women weren t even able to work
back then. Women also (usually) had no form of education. Women were even considered their
husband s property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in her works. She believed
strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave. Other than gender equality
and love poems, she also wrote biographies and autobiographies. This includes a biography about
Charles the Fifth, which was very flattering and pleasing, and her autobiography, which talks about
her thoughts on women. This was written to cease the continued debate about women. Christine was
the original advocate for women s

Persepolis Themes
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi is a graphic memoir that reveals the life of a woman growing up in pre
and post Iran, as well as her experiences in Western countries. In this book, Marjane utilizes historical
events that affect her life during her upbringing in Iran. These include the oppression of the Shah, as
well as the rise and effects of the regime. These events integration into the story showcase how they
affect Marjane and the other citizens of her country. Additionally, these events are important for the
context and understanding that they grant readers unfamiliar with the text.

burning of the Rex Cinema, an example of the Shah s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another historical event that we see is the rise and effects of the Islamic regime in Marjane s life. This
event is arguably the central issue that affects Marjane during her upbringing in Iran. Marjane shows
how the regime begins to control schools, and how this affects her life by separating her from her
friends (4, 3 4). We also see how the regime decides to close universities as they educate future
imperialists. (73, 1 3) This demonstrates the negative effects that the regime has on society, as they
prioritize Islamic values over education. The Islamic leaders portrayal shows them as upset and bored,
and are given much different facial expressions than those that Marjane sees as intellectual (such as
Uncle Anoosh (54/3) or Marjane s grandfather (23/8)). This imagery communicates the backwards
thinking of these leaders, and as such, also effectively communicate Marjane s opinion of the leaders
without needing to discuss it with text. Additionally, we see both of Marjane s views: Marjane not
understanding the veiling and separation (3/5) as well as Marjane s depression over the closing of the
universities (73/7). The text here illustrates her opinions on the situations that she experiences, and the
imagery allows us to see a visual representation of her basic thoughts and emotions, which are well
communicated. A final example of the regime s changes is the difference between the fundamentalist
and modern women

increases driving range and reduces charging time. They plans to leapfrog Tesla electric cars by 2022
with fast charging solid state batteries.

Toyota is planning to halve the number of car models it sells in Japan to about 30 by 2025 to focus on

population rapidly ages and young people losing interest in car ownership.

The Beef With Antibiotics
The Beef with Antibiotics
In recent years, Americans have been blaming antibiotics used in animals to be processed for food for
many of the growing number of health problems in developed countries. Fast food restaurants are
making movements to remove antibiotic treated meats from their menus. This movement is causing
quite the stir in consumers and livestock producers alike. Do the antibiotics used in beef really
contribute to antibiotic resistant diseases? Should antibiotics be outlawed in the use of farm animals?
The eradication of antibiotic use in America s beef industry is not feasible due to its usage in the
treatment and control of deadly or discomforting diseases.
Presently, speculations have risen about the amount of antibiotics used in the livestock industry and
the desire to consume antibiotic free meats. What is not understood, however, is the USDA has been
monitoring the amount of antimicrobial residue in meats for several years. If unsafe levels are detected
the meat is not allowed to be sold for human consumption. Yet, fast food chains such as Subway and
Chipotle are claiming to go completely antibiotic free within the next decade. The practicality of this
becoming a reality is slim due to the need to control, treat, and prevent diseases. To truly understand
the importance of the antibiotic usage in cattle it must first be understood what antibiotics are and the
reasons they are used. Additionally, the use of vaccinations should be taken into account for the

Raisin In The Sun Allusion
A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, a novel about the life of a black family in Chicago after
World War II, took an allusion to A Dream Deferred, a poem by Langston Hughes. Therefore the
characters in the play and their dreams share similarities to the simile provided by Hughes. The simile
of a raisin in the sun (2) encounters with Beneatha Younger, a young college student, who dreams of
studying in a medical school but is criticized by her family. The dream seems aggravates the family
conflict, but it represents Beneatha s hope of helping the family.

The hope encounters with the simile, a raisin in the sun (2), which is dry on the surface but sweet in
the core. Beneatha s dislike the poor circumstances of her family and tries to solve it by going to a
medical school : It makes just as much sense as disliking people cause they are poor (50, Hansberry).
She is no longer willing to suffer in poverty. She wants to contribute to the family and improve the
awkward circumstances, with the entire family living in a small apartment, by getting a well earning
job after graduating from medical school. The feeling of powerless and the struggle in life makes her
hates being poor. Beneatha also stops Ruth from giving birth to her new child. Ruth was pregnant, and
Beneatha tells her that it is not the best time to give birth to a new baby. She suggests that it will only
put pressure on the family: Where is he going to live? On the roof? (70, Hansberry).Although
Beneatha s suggestion sounds selfish and disrespectful to the baby, she is trying to think about the
problem from the family s position and suggests that it is not the right time to have a baby. Beneatha is
a character full of conflicts. Under the surface of conflict and argument with her family members, she
has a heart that cares about the family. She is a raisin in the sun who has a kind heart in her core, like

Lawrence s Influence On Aqaba
Lawrence exhibited his innovative leadership during the attack on Aqaba as he depleted the Ottoman
defenses, therefore bolstering the Allied Powers. Aqaba was a strategic location that provided essential
resources for Turkish troops in Northwestern Arabia. Lawrence later wrote that A[q]aba s special
value to the Turks was that, in their hands, it might, when they pleased, be constituted as a threat on
the right flank of the British army (Wilson 398). Just as Aqaba was valuable for the Allies, it could
also prove to be detrimental to the British, given its location near their Suez Canal forces. While
searching for access to the Aqaba Ma an supply route and having made significant progress toward
Aqaba, Lawrence encountered Auda abu Tayi. Lawrence recognized Auda s unique situation in ...

E. Lawrence fulfilled his role to both Britain and Arab tribesmen on securing the capture of
Damascus. His presence in Syria no longer necessary, he returned to England a hero. However, his
advocacy for the Arabs did not end; he continued to fight for the Arabs rights to control the land they
so valiantly fought for. The Sykes Picot agreement was a pact settled by the Allied powers, parceling
Syria out to European Allies. Lawrence leveraged his popular status to gain political influence, and
worked with the Allies when they sought to fairly separate the land. This redistribution of land taken
from the Arab tribesmen is identified as a major contributing cause for the contemporary conflicts in
the Middle East. Just as T.E. Lawrence followed Britain s tradition of influencing other cultures during
the age of imperialism, other contemporaries such as the explorer Richard Burton also assimilated into
cultures visited. In his quest for the source of the Nile River, Burton immersed himself in cultures
across Asia and Africa, going so far as to travel through Mecca in Arab garb. None, however, was
accepted to same degree and achieved the paragon of leadership as Lawrence of

Sophie did not look at adult faces or coo or smile. According to Ms.O Neil Sophie did not seek

In Rosalind Charlesworth (2013) book, Understanding Child Development she recalls Vygotsky

development was highly compromised because of her Down s syndrome and medical complications. It

Gay Protests
Protest: a statement or action that expresses disapproval of, or objection to something
(Dictionary.com). Protests occur frequently; it is impossible to have all humans on the same page
about everything. Everyone is different, yet differences are not easily accepted in society. The
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is very familiar with this unacceptance.
LGBT activists feel that they are being mistreated as a community. There have been/are anti gay

The Indian Judicial System
The Indian Judicial System has always been vigilant about the rights of children for they are the most
valuable assets of the nation. It goes as a fact that development of children in a society and the
development of nation as a whole go hand in hand and the most potent role in achieving such
development is played by Education. Keeping this in mind, the India Judiciary emerges as a sign of
commitment towards eradication of poverty and illiteracy from the country. The emergence of Right to
Education as a Fundamental Right still has been an elusive goal had Judiciary not stepped in. The
commendable role of judiciary in elevating the status of Right to Education from a Directive Principle
to a Fundamental Right can be traced through a catena of cases. In the year 1993, Supreme Court
turned the wheel of education the Supreme Court through its tendency towards broad and normative
enunciations of positive rights. The best illustration of this trend can be traced in the famous Mohini
Jain s case and Unnikrishnan s case wherein the Supreme Court ruled that Article 45 in Part IV has to
be read in harmonious construction with Article 21 (Right to Life) in Part III of the Constitution, as
Right to Life loses its significance without education. The apex Court made the following powerful
interpretation: It is thus well established by the decisions of this Court that the provisions of Part III
and IV are supplementary and complementary to each other and that fundamental rights are

Febrile Epilepsy Research Paper
Each year, one in one hundred people in the United State develop epilepsy, but there is a less common
type of epilepsy. It s called febrile infection related epileptic syndrome, more commonly known as
FIRES. I happen to know one of the few people who have this type of epilepsy. Her name is Kailee,
and she goes to my brother s school. She was even in some of his classes. This type of epilepsy occurs
in school aged children between the ages of six and seventeen ( What is FIRES? ). It starts with a mild
febrile illness that lasts anywhere from four days to two weeks. Febrile illness is when someone has a
fever but they aren t sick with anything else ( Febrile Illness ). When Kaylee was at this point, her
mom thought she had the flu. This is very common, as the flu presents itself as a fever in many
children. Then, the child starts to have seizures. The seizures occur very quickly, and the child needs
to be hospitalized immediately at this point. Seizures the children experience are non focal, meaning
they have no consistent starting point or ending point in the brain ( What is FIRES ). The disease is

is a result of an autoimmune response, while others think the seizures are caused by a malfunction in
the metabolic process of some cells. Both of these theories have little evidence to support them.
FIRES could be a result of the febrile illness that comes before the seizures. The idea is that the

Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France
This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax
was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks
consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar.
A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered
indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market
outcomes.
Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was
allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price)
and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy
drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax .
Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy
drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks
decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers
are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased
significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the
government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks
ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of

The Gross Clinic Painting Analysis
In this essay I will be depicting and comparing two of the most well known anatomical paintings of all

in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The second painting is The Anatomy Lesson by Rembrandt is also an
oil painting canvas but drew in 1632 the Dutch Baroque era. Both paintings depict surgeons at work
dissecting features of dead bodies for experimental studies for groups of fellow surgeons and students.

taking place in real life. There are many details that point this out. For one in the scene there does not
seem to be a crowd in the anatomy theater as we would normally see in a real depiction. The second
point is that in all of Amsterdam anatomy lessons there is an abundance of the lack of instruments for
the dissection taken place, also there is an absence of the preparator who has the task of preparing the
body for the lesson that will be taking place. This was considered to be a low end and bloody task,
which Dr. Tulp would not be expected to take care of. Finally the dissection itself is very unrealistic in

The Theology Of The Holy Spirit And The Implications For...
Spirit Led Preaching is a niche book. It is rare to find a work that so concisely captures the theology of
the Holy Spirit and the implications for expository preaching. Heisler answers the dilemma that today
s typical evangelical Spirit shy Christians face. Many contemporary preachers may fear being labeled
unbiblical for considering the need to surrender to the control of the Spirit because of how the church
has attributed crazy experiences to the ministry of the Spirit in preaching. Heisler values expository
preaching as that which holds the powerful combination of Word and Spirit together . While Heisler
acknowledges the subjective aspect found in Spirit led preaching, he affirms it is governed by the
grammatical historical method . Heisler emphasizes this point throughout his work by marking the
benefits of the revealing ministry of the Holy Spirit that come from preaching within the bounds of the
biblical text .
Heisler s definition of illumination is the theological thread that ties together his emphasis of Word
and Spirit in both preparation and delivery. He writes, What is bright light in the study will be white
hot in the sanctuary . For Heisler, this plays practically into what the preacher chooses to edit out or
keep in his sermon notes, and how he animates his preaching points and biblical narratives . With this
doctrine Heisler challenges preachers to practice the spiritual disciplines as part of their sermon
preparation. Citing Paul s example, he

How Does Your Personality Shape Your Workplace Effectiveness
How does your personality shape your workplace effectiveness?
Introduction
Personality is an important trait which has an impact on the surrounding in your workplace. As a
manager, I believe that a workplace has several types of people who come from various religion, race,
country and cultural beliefs. Each individual need to be treated with respect and care, there issues need
to be addressed without neglecting and they should be given room for their own personal growth
within the organization. Personality is related to the culture being practiced in the organization. They
are directly proportional to each other. Culture needs to be initiated by the management and
employees follow it.
Effective management skills require managers to develop policies having the employees in mind,
along with this regular interval for employees and also trips can be organized for team building
purposes. Managers are known to have a good vision, interpersonal skill, technical skill and also
perception. As manager s, they need to understand their strengths and weaknesses by conducting
personality tests and follow certain practices to make their personality better in order to better deal
with employees. It needs a lot of dedication and commitment to be a good manager with pleasant
practices on a day to day basis. We as managers, need to remember that we are role models for the
employees in an organization and they look up to us to be a better person.

Pills And Starships
Book Report: Pills and Starships by Lydia Millet Summary Pills and Starships, an intriguing novel by
Lydia Millet, shows a vividly imagined dystopian future in which the world is consumed in despair
and the unsustainable population is controlled by the government. Lydia Millet does a brilliant job in
fabricating a post apocalyptic, sinister form of Earth that s enveloped in toxic gas due to excessive
pollution and climate change. Migrations of whole cities of people to escape bad air quality are
constant, food and water are scarce, and people are forced to take pills to stabilize their emotions.
Many oppressive limitations are placed upon the remaining people by the government and
corporations, who forbid having children and even limit your right to take your own life or die. The
main characters, Nat and Sam, live in this horrific world. Their parents experienced the beauty of
Earth before global warming led to its deterioration, and being old, they couldn t bear the pain and
depression of such a drastic transition anymore. As a result, they purchased a death contract ... Show

In terms of pills , it refers to the mood pharms in the story, which are drugs that corporations distribute
to stabilize the emotions of the general population to avoid chaos and conflict. These mood pharms are
taken by Nat, Sam, and their parents one week before their death, allowing them to remain calm even
in agitating situations. Starships are not directly referenced in the book, but I m assuming that it
actually refers to me, the reader. This is very fascinating because as Nat writes in her journal, she
refers to the reader an astronaut who floats in space and observes their deteriorating planet from a
spaceship. As previously stated, Lydia Millet is a very creative author with and I m stunned at how she
managed to incorporate the reader into the story with such a vivid

You can think of network security as an insurance policy in a dangerous new world. In the good old
days of centralized processing, is all you had to do was simply lock the computer room door and

vast communi cation networks. Personal data and transaction security through networks is of

The first and easiest types of network attacks comes from hackers. Hackers are people typically using

The Causes And Impacts Of The International Space Station
The International Space Station commonly known as the (ISS) is a large spacecraft that orbits around
Earth. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The space
station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian
Federation, the United States, and eleven Member States of the European Space Agency (Belgium,
Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United
Kingdom) worked together to build and use this space station. The space station is made of parts that
were assembled by astronauts, in space itself. NASA is using this space station to learn more about the
living and working conditions in space. These discoveries will help make it possible for them to find
out if it is feasible to send humans farther into space than ever done in the past.
Political:
The International Space Station was first considered in the waning years of the Cold War. A space
station called Mir was prepared to be launched by the Soviet Union, which went into orbit in 1986.
The United States wanted to match its rival.During his 1984 State of the Union address, President
Ronald Regan announced his plans for a U.S led project. Russia was invited to join the space station
by the United States when they decided to expand their international partnership, after the collapse of

History of the Rights of the Accused and the Warren Court
One of the most well known epithets in the United States is innocent until proven guilty. This means
that until a prosecution has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that a person accused of a crime has
indeed committed that crime, he or she is to be presumed innocent of all charges. In theory, this idea
upholds the sense of democracy and fair trial upon which the country was founded. In practice,
however, it is less so. Oftentimes, an accusation or a criminal charge defines the person accused, as he
or she is already presumed guilty in the court of public opinion. Especially in the cases of high profile
trials, most people accept that the person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Constitution clearly outlines the rights of the accused and what steps must be taken before an
accused person can be punished. One of these rights is The Writ of Habeas Corpus, which means that
a person cannot be held or detained for an unreasonable amount of time without having been charged
with a crime. This prevents the government and law officials from imprisoning citizens without cause.
Today, a large number of criminal conviction appeals are raised under the habeas corpus privilege,
[wherein] individuals ... convicted of crimes ... may demand that the government justify his or her
physical confinement (ThisNation). In other words, even if a person has been convicted of a crime, if
it is found that his or her right to habeas corpus has been violated, it can nullify the conviction.
Another right that is guaranteed to the accused is the right to a trial by jury. Article III of the
Constitution guarantees that those who are accused of crimes have the right to have their guilt or
innocence determined by a panel of fellow citizens (ThisNation). A person cannot be convicted of a
crime without receiving a fair trial, during which the prosecution must present its proof that the
accused is guilty. If there is not enough proof to determine that the accused person did commit the
crime, then the jury cannot convict, and the accused is free to go. There are some exceptions to the
trial by jury right, such as if a person is accused of a crime that has a penalty of

Organic Farming vs Factory Farming Essays
Many consumers and farmers have discovered that living in an industrialized culture where the focus
has become faster, bigger, and cheaper is not the best way to produce our food. Obsessed with
productivity, the agriculture industry is reaping the negative consequences of creating an unsustainable
environment for food production. Time and time again, the media captures stories regarding deadly
bacterial contamination and dangerous pesticide contamination causing illness and death in our
communities. The environment is also damaged and contaminated. This devastating trend, due to

As the soil becomes more and more polluted with these toxins, it becomes unsustainable. Therefore,
land that would have remained fertile for centuries through the commonsense farming of our
ancestors, is being ruined by farming controlled by big corporations whose sole interest is in
immediate short term profit (Goodall 38). Industrialized livestock farming with thousands of animals
crammed into small factory spaces is responsible for numerous bacterial and viral infections such as
E.coli., Avian bird flu, Mad cow disease, Salmonella, and many more. Therefore, conventional
farmers use antibiotics to keep these animals alive. This over use of antibiotics is causing the creation
of new, resistant strains of deadly diseases that kill people and animals. Disease is actually caused by
the bad practices, shortcuts, and antibiotic resistance. This has the opposite effect of what was
intended and also costs farmers millions of dollars every year instead of saving money. Unfortunately,
conventional agriculture experts recommend these monocultural farming practices in the name of
quick, mass production. Current conventional farming practices are also responsible for many
pollution problems that would not exist otherwise. The land where we live and grow our food, the
water we drink, and the air we breathe are all being contaminated. The large amounts of synthetic
pesticides and fertilizers used on our crops are poisoning the soil, air, and water. Toxic heavy metals

Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of a

attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. Many
writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they ve

Langston Hughes was initially recognised as an important literary figure in the 1920s, a period
commonly referred to as the Harlem Renaissance which was based in Harlem, New York City. During
this period there was an exceptional amount of black writers that were emerging such as Countee

In clinical settings, cognitive therapy has been utilized effectively to remedy depression.
Understandably so, as it relates to automatic thoughts, much consideration has been given to its effects
resulting in various studies focusing on cognitive approaches that would improve symptoms.
Moreover, the evaluation of multiple variables could impact the projected eventual outcome behaviors
of patients if assessments lack generalization. Recent studies have found that though there is solid

a 2 factor solution accounting for 51% total variance and subsequent confirmatory analysis confirmed

Furthermore, effective interventions depend on associated factors that influence treatment outcome.
Cognitive therapy has been useful in intervention for depression in various clinical settings,

The Twin Towers Of The World Trade Center
The Twin waterfalls that are placed in the ground where the twin towers of the World Trade Center
once stood serve as a memorial to the events that took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The
Architect of these twin waterfalls, Michael Arad, wanted to create a memorial that was stoic and
defiant, but also quiet and respectful. Arad explained. I didn t want a design that felt the need to
scream loudly. I felt the site was frightened with so much history, anything we say here is amplified a
thousand fold. The project that Arad had in mind was no easy feat, it took roughly 6 years to complete
due to numerous architectural obstacles that the workers had to conquer. This mechanical marvel is
able to send water from the bottom of the waterfall back to the top at an astonishing rate of 24,000
gallons per minute. However, gusts of wind cause turbulence on top of the water so the engineers
needed to create a system that is not only strong, but also able to variate the power given to these
pumps in order to maintain that serene aesthetic look of the water smoothly flowing down the
waterfall. This mechanical marvel also boasts filters to take sediment out, UV lights to kill bacteria,
and chemical additives to prevent the water from becoming polluted. Every minute detail has been
thought of by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker. For example, trees were
placed surrounding these waterfalls in order to comfort and calm those who come to this spot to

An Analysis Of Okonkwo s Things Fall Apart
In Things Fall Apart the novel, Okonkwo was determined to be nothing like his father Unoka, this
strict adherence to masculine standards, (which causes the destruction of his family, creates dissent in

all nine villages of Umuofia. He was quick tempered, he did not like dealing with unproductive men

The Impact Of Internet Legislation On The Internet
The goal of the legislation was to improve the access of the internet and to allow the consumers to
receive equal access to all internet sites no matter what provider they are using. This allows people to
select the applications or sites they wish to get their information, giving them a freedom not many
have. As shown before these companies have been fined and reprimanded for breaking the law,
however this brings forth a probe to see if this policy been successful in creating an equal internet for
the consumer. According to CBS NL it states that the dutch legislation raised the over population of
84% avidly use the internet in 2012 versus the 78% of people in 2005. The statistics presented by the

Fans And Fandom
Traditionally, the topic of fans and fandom has been well researched throughout popular culture
media. Various studies have been conducted to discover the relationship between constructed popular
media and its impact on society and the concept of fans and fandom represent a positive relationship
between the two. The positive relationship, between fans and popular culture, can be examined
through the work of Bourdieu whom uncovered how culture distinctions are classed in nature in order
to legitimize a class hierarchy (Gray Murray, 2016, p.358). To make popular media exclusive,
researcher Stuart Hall (1999) discovered that the creators of popular media encoded their own beliefs,
values, norms and/or experiences into the media content that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Though anti fans do not support popular culture economically, researcher Dallas Smythe (2006) revels
that anti fans are knowledgeable individuals based on their experiences undergone throughout
childhood to adulthood (p.244). Using personal experiences, anti fans engage in semiotic and
enunciative productivity, as author Fiske (1989) quotes, where anti fans use their own personal
experiences to interpret, comprehend and articulate the popular media content (p.37). Armed with
their personal experiences, researcher Jonathan Gray (2003) documents that anti fans are able to
interpret the popular culture being produced and construct a recreation that is suitable for their
reaction, and in doing so, react negatively to the popular media content (p.71). In choosing to adapt
the popular media content, researcher Gray (2003) discovers that anti fans find a concept that they
wholeheartedly dislike and invest great amount of effort and time to express this displeasure;
ultimately allowing them to be active members in popular culture discourse (p.71). An example of this
can be seen in the anti fandom community that has been created against the Fifty Shades of Grey
series. Research conducted into the anti fandom community surrounding the displeasure towards the
Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy unveils that distaste in a popular culture media can produce various
distinctions, with each anti fan having an interpretation, and input, towards what makes the popular
culture unpopular (Harman Jones, 2013,p.962). According to the researchers Harman Jones (2013),
the various distinctions that arise in anti fan discourse is proof towards exemplifying how anti fans are
active members in production and circulation of popular culture (p.963). Besides being active
members in interpreting popular culture

The Country Of The United States
A country inhabited by over six million people off of the coast of Central America. A ravishing land
full of beaches and wildlife, but also a place ravaged by corruption and gang populations that feel that
they are leaders of the urban areas. This country has been torn by the result of war games played
among its own brothers. The beautiful nation of El Salvador that has been the place of birth for my
parents, grandparents and ancestors. San Salvador is the nation s capital and possibly most prominent
area of my land. The smallest of all Central American countries yet the most densely populated. Our

It was by many dire battles and the multitudinous amount of troops available to Spain alongside
financial and advanced weapon aid that the Spaniards were eventually able to conquer this territory.
San Salvador is one of the first cities established by the Spaniards, they moved rapidly to colonize and
change the language of those under their rule. From many different tribal tongues to the Spanish that
is now part of home life for the majority of all Central American countries.
The freedom of El Salvador and all of Central America from Spanish rule came on September 15,
1821. El Salvador also led Central America in the movement to liberate itself from Mexican Spanish
rule by evading taxation and resisting development efforts that would destroy the way of life and
cultures of those native Salvadorians, all concluding in an uprising by the Salvadoran people well until
the collapse of the Mexican empire.
A big part of Salvadoran life is the beliefs placed upon by our elders. The countries most followed
religion is that of the Roman Catholic Church, with a following of around fifty six percent of all
Salvadorans; however twenty one percent of people identify as Protestants. This leaves three percent
of the population converting to other religions. Religion is so heavily followed by the

Rhetorical Analysis On The Perils Of Indifference
He was finally free, but there was no joy in his heart. He thought there never would be again . This
quote stated by Elie Wiesel from his speech, The Perils of Indifference , refers to the day Elie Wiesel
got liberated from the Holocaust when he was young. The Holocaust was just one of the many horrific
tragedies that occurred during that century. In hopes of changing the future for the better, Wiesel
decides to deliver a speech about helping the victims of injustice. He gives this speech intended for the
President, Mrs. Clinton, members of Congress, Ambassador Holbrooke, Excellencies, and friends
hoping that they will make positive changes for the future. By using rhetorical strategies such as
anaphora, rhetorical questions, and ethos, Wiesel tries to help the victims of injustice and prevent
future tragedies from happening. Throughout Wiesel s speech, he used a copious amount of anaphora.
Wiesel used this technique to help get his point across to the audience. He explains how easy it is to
use indifference; consequently, people are taking opportunities from others. Wiesel explains, our work,
our dreams, our hopes (Wiesel 1 2), to show the audience what indifference is effecting in their lives.
By repeating the word our before each subject that is being affected, he is showing the audience that
the victims being affected have their own opportunity for work, dreams, and hopes. By others being
indifferent, the victims may not have those opportunities anymore.

  • 2. Reasons For The Hostages Were Journalists And Aid Workers ISIL continued to demand ransom payments and other concessions from foreign governments in exchange for the return of hostages, and it executed the hostages if the governments refused. Most of the hostages were journalists and aid workers, but in late December 2014 the group captured a Jordanian pilot after his fighter jet crashed during a mission against ISIL in Syria. News of the pilot s capture met with consternation in Jordan, where a large proportion of the public had opposed the country s participation in the anti ISIL coalition. Support for military action surged in February 2015, however, after an ISIL video showed the pilot being burned to death by his captors. Iraqi expert Hisham al Hashimi believes only 30% of the group s fighters are ideologues , with the remainder joining out of fear or coercion. A significant number of IS fighters are neither Iraqi nor Syrian. In October 2015, National Counterterrorism Center Director Nicholas Rasmussen told Congress that the group had attracted more than 28,000 foreign fighters. They included at least 5,000 Westerners, approximately 250 of them Americans, he said. Studies by the London based International Centre for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence (ICSR) and the New York based Soufan Group suggest that while about a quarter of the foreign fighters are from the West, the majority are from nearby Arab countries, such as Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Morocco ( What Is Islamic State ? ). By late 2014, cells of militants claiming to be affiliates or direct extensions of ISIL had emerged in a number of conflict zones in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Existing insurgent groups such as Boko Haram in Nigeria and some elements of the Taliban in Afghanistan also pledged their allegiance to ISIL. Outside of Iraq and Syria, ISIL affiliated groups appeared to be most strongly established in North Africa. • 3. A Behavioral Therapist Position For Kids With Autism And... Midterm The Problem (1 Page) Most companies expect their employees not to just do the work but to do good work efficiently. At the organization I am a part of it is considered a helping profession and people either do work in the office or out in the field providing services. However, when you need to get something done, people do not seem to accomplish tasks at work because of the lack of support or the distractions that occur. There are three main issues that occur in my job surrounding the lack of efficient communication, guidance from managers, and scheduling conflicts. Through analyzing these issues a specific job may be created to help solve these problems affecting this work environment. I am in a behavioral therapist position for kids with Autism and related disorders at a small firm in Anaheim, California. I mostly work in homes with the kids and their families. Behavioral therapist needs to have adequate communication with supervisors and parent consultants since they overlap with therapists about once a month. The issue within communication is not the lack of resources because employees are provided with the technology and service to communicate. The issue lies within the efficiency. Since managers have a great influence on making a better work environment they are essential to making a team successful. He was respected greatly by Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. This event is arguably the central issue that affects Marjane during her upbringing in Iran. Marjane shows how the regime begins to control schools, and how this affects her life by separating her from her friends (4, 3 4). We also see how the regime decides to close universities as they educate future imperialists. (73, 1 3) This demonstrates the negative effects that the regime has on society, as they prioritize Islamic values over education. The Islamic leaders portrayal shows them as upset and bored, and are given much different facial expressions than those that Marjane sees as intellectual (such as Uncle Anoosh (54/3) or Marjane s grandfather (23/8)). This imagery communicates the backwards thinking of these leaders, and as such, also effectively communicate Marjane s opinion of the leaders without needing to discuss it with text. Additionally, we see both of Marjane s views: Marjane not understanding the veiling and separation (3/5) as well as Marjane s depression over the closing of the universities (73/7). The text here illustrates her opinions on the situations that she experiences, and the imagery allows us to see a visual representation of her basic thoughts and emotions, which are well communicated. • 7. The Beef With Antibiotics The Beef with Antibiotics In recent years, Americans have been blaming antibiotics used in animals to be processed for food for many of the growing number of health problems in developed countries. Fast food restaurants are making movements to remove antibiotic treated meats from their menus. This movement is causing quite the stir in consumers and livestock producers alike. Do the antibiotics used in beef really contribute to antibiotic resistant diseases? Should antibiotics be outlawed in the use of farm animals? The eradication of antibiotic use in America s beef industry is not feasible due to its usage in the treatment and control of deadly or discomforting diseases. Presently, speculations have risen about the amount of antibiotics used in the livestock industry and the desire to consume antibiotic free meats. What is not understood, however, is the USDA has been monitoring the amount of antimicrobial residue in meats for several years. If unsafe levels are detected the meat is not allowed to be sold for human consumption. Yet, fast food chains such as Subway and Chipotle are claiming to go completely antibiotic free within the next decade. The practicality of this becoming a reality is slim due to the need to control, treat, and prevent diseases. To truly understand the importance of the antibiotic usage in cattle it must first be understood what antibiotics are and the reasons they are used. However, his advocacy for the Arabs did not end; he continued to fight for the Arabs rights to control the land they so valiantly fought for. The Sykes Picot agreement was a pact settled by the Allied powers, parceling Syria out to European Allies. Lawrence leveraged his popular status to gain political influence, and worked with the Allies when they sought to fairly separate the land. This redistribution of land taken from the Arab tribesmen is identified as a major contributing cause for the contemporary conflicts in the Middle East. Just as T.E. Lawrence followed Britain s tradition of influencing other cultures during the age of imperialism, other contemporaries such as the explorer Richard Burton also assimilated into cultures visited. • 14. The Indian Judicial System The Indian Judicial System has always been vigilant about the rights of children for they are the most valuable assets of the nation. It goes as a fact that development of children in a society and the development of nation as a whole go hand in hand and the most potent role in achieving such development is played by Education. Keeping this in mind, the India Judiciary emerges as a sign of commitment towards eradication of poverty and illiteracy from the country. The emergence of Right to Education as a Fundamental Right still has been an elusive goal had Judiciary not stepped in. The commendable role of judiciary in elevating the status of Right to Education from a Directive Principle to a Fundamental Right can be traced through a catena of cases. In the year 1993, Supreme Court turned the wheel of education the Supreme Court through its tendency towards broad and normative enunciations of positive rights. The best illustration of this trend can be traced in the famous Mohini Jain s case and Unnikrishnan s case wherein the Supreme Court ruled that Article 45 in Part IV has to be read in harmonious construction with Article 21 (Right to Life) in Part III of the Constitution, as Right to Life loses its significance without education. • 20. Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar. A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market outcomes. Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price) and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax . Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. For one in the scene there does not seem to be a crowd in the anatomy theater as we would normally see in a real depiction. The second point is that in all of Amsterdam anatomy lessons there is an abundance of the lack of instruments for the dissection taken place, also there is an absence of the preparator who has the task of preparing the body for the lesson that will be taking place. It is rare to find a work that so concisely captures the theology of the Holy Spirit and the implications for expository preaching. Heisler answers the dilemma that today s typical evangelical Spirit shy Christians face. Many contemporary preachers may fear being labeled unbiblical for considering the need to surrender to the control of the Spirit because of how the church has attributed crazy experiences to the ministry of the Spirit in preaching. Heisler values expository preaching as that which holds the powerful combination of Word and Spirit together . While Heisler acknowledges the subjective aspect found in Spirit led preaching, he affirms it is governed by the grammatical historical method . Heisler emphasizes this point throughout his work by marking the benefits of the revealing ministry of the Holy Spirit that come from preaching within the bounds of the biblical text . Heisler s definition of illumination is the theological thread that ties together his emphasis of Word and Spirit in both preparation and delivery. He writes, What is bright light in the study will be white hot in the sanctuary . For Heisler, this plays practically into what the preacher chooses to edit out or keep in his sermon notes, and how he animates his preaching points and biblical narratives . With this doctrine Heisler challenges preachers to practice the spiritual disciplines as part of their sermon preparation. Citing Paul s example, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means that until a prosecution has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that a person accused of a crime has indeed committed that crime, he or she is to be presumed innocent of all charges. In theory, this idea upholds the sense of democracy and fair trial upon which the country was founded. In practice, however, it is less so. Oftentimes, an accusation or a criminal charge defines the person accused, as he or she is already presumed guilty in the court of public opinion. Especially in the cases of high profile trials, most people accept that the person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Constitution clearly outlines the rights of the accused and what steps must be taken before an accused person can be punished. One of these rights is The Writ of Habeas Corpus, which means that a person cannot be held or detained for an unreasonable amount of time without having been charged with a crime. This prevents the government and law officials from imprisoning citizens without cause. Today, a large number of criminal conviction appeals are raised under the habeas corpus privilege, [wherein] individuals ... convicted of crimes ... may demand that the government justify his or her physical confinement (ThisNation). In other words, even if a person has been convicted of a crime, if it is found that his or her right to habeas corpus has been violated, it can nullify the conviction. Another right that is guaranteed to the accused is the right to a trial by jury. Article III of the Constitution guarantees that those who are accused of crimes have the right to have their guilt or innocence determined by a panel of fellow citizens (ThisNation). A person cannot be convicted of a crime without receiving a fair trial, during which the prosecution must present its proof that the accused is guilty. If there is not enough proof to determine that the accused person did commit the crime, then the jury cannot convict, and the accused is free to go. Organic Farming vs Factory Farming Essays Many consumers and farmers have discovered that living in an industrialized culture where the focus has become faster, bigger, and cheaper is not the best way to produce our food. Obsessed with productivity, the agriculture industry is reaping the negative consequences of creating an unsustainable environment for food production. Time and time again, the media captures stories regarding deadly bacterial contamination and dangerous pesticide contamination causing illness and death in our communities. The environment is also damaged and contaminated. This devastating trend, due to irresponsible farming practices as a result of the industrialization of the food industry, has become all too common. Therefore, land that would have remained fertile for centuries through the commonsense farming of our ancestors, is being ruined by farming controlled by big corporations whose sole interest is in immediate short term profit (Goodall 38). Industrialized livestock farming with thousands of animals crammed into small factory spaces is responsible for numerous bacterial and viral infections such as E.coli., Avian bird flu, Mad cow disease, Salmonella, and many more. Therefore, conventional farmers use antibiotics to keep these animals alive. This over use of antibiotics is causing the creation of new, resistant strains of deadly diseases that kill people and animals. Disease is actually caused by the bad practices, shortcuts, and antibiotic resistance. This has the opposite effect of what was intended and also costs farmers millions of dollars every year instead of saving money. Unfortunately, conventional agriculture experts recommend these monocultural farming practices in the name of quick, mass production. Current conventional farming practices are also responsible for many pollution problems that would not exist otherwise. The land where we live and grow our food, the water we drink, and the air we breathe are all being contaminated. The large amounts of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers used on our crops are poisoning the soil, air, and water. Toxic heavy metals such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sandburg attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. The Twin Towers Of The World Trade Center The Twin waterfalls that are placed in the ground where the twin towers of the World Trade Center once stood serve as a memorial to the events that took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The Architect of these twin waterfalls, Michael Arad, wanted to create a memorial that was stoic and defiant, but also quiet and respectful. Arad explained. I didn t want a design that felt the need to scream loudly. I felt the site was frightened with so much history, anything we say here is amplified a thousand fold. The project that Arad had in mind was no easy feat, it took roughly 6 years to complete due to numerous architectural obstacles that the workers had to conquer. This mechanical marvel is able to send water from the bottom of the waterfall back to the top at an astonishing rate of 24,000 gallons per minute. However, gusts of wind cause turbulence on top of the water so the engineers needed to create a system that is not only strong, but also able to variate the power given to these pumps in order to maintain that serene aesthetic look of the water smoothly flowing down the waterfall. This mechanical marvel also boasts filters to take sediment out, UV lights to kill bacteria, and chemical additives to prevent the water from becoming polluted. Every minute detail has been thought of by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker. The Impact Of Internet Legislation On The Internet The goal of the legislation was to improve the access of the internet and to allow the consumers to receive equal access to all internet sites no matter what provider they are using. This allows people to select the applications or sites they wish to get their information, giving them a freedom not many have. As shown before these companies have been fined and reprimanded for breaking the law, however this brings forth a probe to see if this policy been successful in creating an equal internet for the consumer. According to CBS NL it states that the dutch legislation raised the over population of 84% avidly use the internet in 2012 versus the 78% of people in 2005. The statistics presented by the Central Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) show that as the internet evolved people became more dependent on the internet leading to an expansion of people using the internet (CBS 2012). Additionally, the Netherlands holds the highest percentage of internet users than in most developed countries in Europe (CBS). However, as we see that more people in the Netherlands use the internet ISPs also introduced a raise in prices to help with the lost revenue the law created. Various studies have been conducted to discover the relationship between constructed popular media and its impact on society and the concept of fans and fandom represent a positive relationship between the two. The positive relationship, between fans and popular culture, can be examined through the work of Bourdieu whom uncovered how culture distinctions are classed in nature in order to legitimize a class hierarchy (Gray Murray, 2016, p.358). Armed with their personal experiences, researcher Jonathan Gray (2003) documents that anti fans are able to interpret the popular culture being produced and construct a recreation that is suitable for their reaction, and in doing so, react negatively to the popular media content (p.71). In choosing to adapt the popular media content, researcher Gray (2003) discovers that anti fans find a concept that they wholeheartedly dislike and invest great amount of effort and time to express this displeasure; ultimately allowing them to be active members in popular culture discourse (p.71). An example of this can be seen in the anti fandom community that has been created against the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Research conducted into the anti fandom community surrounding the displeasure towards the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy unveils that distaste in a popular culture media can produce various distinctions, with each anti fan having an interpretation, and input, towards what makes the popular culture unpopular (Harman Jones, 2013,p.962).
