How The Pollutants Affect Communities Living Along The Strait
Communities located along the Strait of Juan de Fuca are being affected by something that s hidden in
the water. It is something which communities have attempted to fix; however, there is still a lot that
needs to be done to completely reverse the effects it has made. This hidden thing is the pollutants
humans have intentionally and unintentionally dumped into the Strait of Juan De Fuca. The dumping
of sewage, the leaking of industrial waste, and the flushing of household waste are all contributing to
the build up of toxic pollutants in the Strait. Individuals will discovers the ways the Strait has been
affected by certain pollutants, will learn about the plans communities have started in an attempt to
mitigate the impact, and will find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can therefore conclude that negative side effects from water contamination extend to rural areas
where dumping sites may not be present.
When we look at the fish along the Strait we seem to see the same results. In a study done on Toxic
Contaminants in Dungeness Crab (2014), they found mercury and PCB s or Polychlorinated
Biphenyls in multiple different species of fish, two of the species being Chinook and Coho, which is
consumed by community s along the Sound (Carey, Niewolny, Lanksbury West). PCB s were used for
electrical equipment in the past. The manufacturing of PCB s was stopped in 1977. However, there is
evidence that shows PCB builds up in the environment ( PCBs ). This shows the impact waste can
have decades after it has been mitigated, and why it is important to stop any further damage.
Next there are shellfish beds that have been shut down due to their toxicity levels along the Strait. The
Washington Department of Health (DOH), has a map that allows individuals to see which areas are
closed for shellfish harvesting, both commercially and recreationally. Regarding Port Angeles, it is
shown as being completely closed to shellfish harvest due to pollution, with the primary cause being
Sewage Outfall. The pollutants in the water are absorbed by the shellfish along with any viruses and
bacteria, which then causes any human who consumes the

WHAT IS IP v 6?
IPv6 was designed during the mid 1990s, when the Internet Engineering Task Force
(IETF) realised that IPv4 address size constraints would soon be a major impediment to the continued
growth of the Internet. IPv6 was first known as the Next Generation
Internet Protocol (IPng) during development within the IETF. Since 1998, it has officially been known
as IPv6. In the transition to IPv6, both IPv6 and IPv4 will co exist until IPv6 eventually replaces IPv4.
The most obvious difference between IPv6 and IPv4 is the vastly expanded IP address space available
The most obvious difference between IPv6 and IPv4 is the address size. IPv6 addresses comprise 128
bits, whereas IPv4 addresses comprise 32 bits. This difference results in a huge expansion in available
IP address space:
◊ I Pv4: 2 32 a ddresses equals 4.3 billion addresses (less than the global human p opulation of 4.7
billion)
◊ I Pv6: 2 128 a ddresses. Because the last 64 bits are used to allocate a ddresses within a subnet, that
leaves 2 64, which equals 18 billion billion s ubnet addresses.
IPv6 is not backwardly compatible with IPv4
Whilst IPv6 performs the same address function as IPv4, IPv6 is

Wood Thrush Populations
The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical
dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood
Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources
occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics
clustered in any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2)
Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly.
We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year
time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations
(Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1).
The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the intent of their
research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source population in one year will result in a
decline in the sink population in the following year, as a smaller source population produces fewer

Volunteers collected point count data on Wood Thrush, among other birds, throughout 4462 total point
count routes. The routes transected Canada and the United States, with 50 survey stations throughout
the 39.2 kilometer route. During each survey stop, volunteers tallied Wood Thrush sightings or calls
within a three minute time frame, throughout an unlimited distance radius. Historical data from 1966
to present were reduced for consistency by selecting routes surveyed for a minimum of 29 years, non
contiguously, as well as exclusively using the first ten survey sites. The survey methods are easily
repeatable; the only materials needed may be a bird identification book, and binoculars. Statistical

Xenia In The Odyssey
The Telemachia nestled within Homer s Odyssey chronicles Telemachos s journey to understand what
it truly means to live as a man with arete. Xenia, Greek for hospitality, is paramount to the
fundamental understanding of Greek culture. Enforced by the almighty Zeus, xenia demands a mutual
generosity between the host and guest. Host s are encouraged to provide a regal presentation of food,
drink, and entertainment for their guest without a second consideration. In return, guest s reciprocate
this cordial offering with graciousness and an unassuming demeanor. The Telemachia introduces a
litany of opportunities for the acceptable practice of Xenia, an essential trait for an honorable man.
Telemachos is thrust into a perpetual adherence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, hoards of courage and confidence are vital to even be willing to attempt such daunting
endeavors. The prospect of defending a home from over one hundred despicable suitors and living
with cordial virtue seem insurmountable to the eyes of young Telemachos. Telemachos hardly knows
the potential for greatness that lies within as he has never witnessed the example of his godlike father
Odysseus. The goddess Athene seeks to inspire confidence in the young Telemachos through a
connection to his lost father: but she left in his spirit / determination and courage, and he remembered
his father / even more than he had before... / and his heart was full of wonder, for he thought it was a
divinity (35, 321 323). Telemachos is infused with the vigor of his father and surges with a spirit of
conviction in himself. Menelaos furthers this cause with a detailed comparison between father and
son, My heart tells me / to speak, for I think I never saw such a likeness, neither / in man nor woman,
and wonder takes me as I look on him, / as this man has a likeness to the son of the great hearted
Odysseus (68 69, 140 144). Menelaos confirms Telemachos s heredity and give credence to the arete
found within his bloodline to Odysseus. Menelaos continues, I could not tell you all the number nor
could I name them, / all that make up the exploits of enduring

Neighborhood Observation
I think the thing that I learned the most about Baltimore communities and schools during this
excursion was that the quality of the neighborhoods changes so rapidly from street to street. I have
never experienced such a quick and powerful juxtaposition between different socioeconomical areas in
my life. In Little Rock, where I am from, the shift in areas is much more gradual and areas are
grouped in larger clusters. In Baltimore, I have noticed that isn t true. Neighborhoods rapidly shift
from block to block The transition from Canton to Madison happened so quickly that I thought I had
missed something originally. This is so interesting to me and I would love to learn more about why
this is the way that it is. I am very ignorant of large cities in general, but in my experience I have
gotten the feeling that this phenomenon is not as produced. I also noticed in Madison the beginning of
gentrification and increased socioeconomic development. It was clear from the number of recently
sold properties and the advertisements used to sell new properties that the developers in this
neighborhood where trying to bring in a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Canton had many restaurants and markets and supermarkets and food sources, but Madison had just a
couple corner stores and one supermarket . Combined with the data we gathered from research that
half of Madison residents do not have access to cars, we identified that Madison might be a food
desert . A food desert is a place where it is exceedingly difficult to find food, and harder to find
healthy hood, and even more expensive. The people in Madison have very limited options in terms of
access to food, and are thus forced to spend comparatively more of their resources in order to access
the food they need. I thought the day in the market initiative put on by Johns Hopkins University was
an important first step, but I am not sure if it does enough to meet the needs of the

The Use Of Corporal Punishment In Schools
All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal
punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19
states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they
can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students
emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a
child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal
punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US
Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really
they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will
never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it
will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety,
hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they
are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school
property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a
better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student
s self image and weaken their social skills (Rollins, Revisiting the Issue). When a student is hit, they
think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser
than everyone else. They also could stop making new friends and become socially awkward because
they are afraid that everyone will not be their friend just because others were not nice. Teachers do not
understand the consequences that a student must face when he or she is hit by them. Some people may
say that they can go to therapy and get better but most likely the student will still have permanent
emotional damage. Another reason corporal punishment does not belong in school is because it
teaches

2012 2013 KINE 1000 6.0 Socio cultural Perspectives in Kinesiology

Almost everyone has some kind of leisure time whether it is a couple hours or a couple days. What
varies is the type of recreational activities people choose to do during that time. Although leisure and
recreation is chosen based on ones unique individual interests, there are many sociocultural factors
that influence the type of recreational activities we do, when we do it and how often we do it. These
factors include political, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, during the winter months, basketball was the only sport I had access too because there
were indoor courts available. These environmental factors inclined me to choose basketball as my
main recreation in terms of competitive sport and now it is one of my favorite sports. It was hard for
me to engage in my previous recreational activities because nobody enjoyed playing soccer or cricket.
This constrained my choices in terms of what kind of recreational activities I wanted to do. Another
factor that separated me from playing sports such as soccer and cricket were economic factors. During
the winter season, the only way I could play these sports was if I joined the indoor leagues but these
leagues were quite expensive. Coming from a middle class family, these extra expenses were hard to
manage and sustain. Soon it became too much and so I had to quit and find other recreational activities
to do in my leisure. Due to these various sociocultural factors, my involvement in certain sports was
severely hampered while other sports such as basketball were immensely facilitated.
Another environmental factor that really controls when I do my leisure is the area or locality where I
live. I do not live in a prestigious area and thus there are many things lacking such as recreation
centers and gyms. Your built environment influences how physically active you are because you are

Darwin s Theory Of Evolution
Another issue is that Darwin s theory has many holes the scientists are unable to fill. These holes are
obvious in Dwain s theory of evolution. Craig Belanger works for EBSCO Publishing he stated in his
Biography of Charles Darwin, which was found on the TRC database under Book Collection
Nonfiction: High School Edition Belanger said that,
Although there are many facets to Darwin s theory of evolution by natural selection, at its core is the
idea that a species ability to evolve is based on its natural selection of traits that enable survival, while
traits which interfere with survival are gradually weeded out during the process of reproduction. This
process of selection has come to be equated with survival of the fittest, a term which Darwin did not
coin and which did not appear in his own work until later editions of On the Origin of Species.
(Belanger)
This idea that evolution happens through natural selection of the traits that evolve and are weeded out
through reproduction is not always true, not all animals that evolve, or humans for that matter pass on
the best traits because some aren t all that great. Here are some examples to prove this; they came
from a researcher for the Berkeley evolution section from their article titled, Misconception of
Evolution under the subheading Misconception: Natural selection is the survival of the very fittest
individuals in a population. The article says that for example, a plant may not have the genes to
flourish in a

The Behavioural Inattention Test ( Conventional ; Bitc )
The Behavioural Inattention Test (Conventional; BITC) is a battery of six tests which include the
following: line crossing (also known as Albert s Test), letter cancellation, star cancellation, copying,
line bisection, and representational drawing (i.e. clock drawing task; Wilson, Cockburn, Halligan,
1987). Each test and any subtests within the battery will be tabulated in greater detail below. It is
important to note that many ADHOC versions of these tests are available online and can also be freely
drawn by a clinician; however, the tests shown here are the originals. It is always advisable to
administer the original tests if they are available at the time as it will mean more reliable and valid
scoring. Cancellation Tests The main purpose of cancellation tasks are to assess for deficits in visual
scanning and visual neglect (such as unilateral spatial neglect [USN]; Wilson et al., 1987). The table
below will outline the different types of cancellation (Cx) tasks and what they assess. These tests in
particular are not used to formally diagnose deficits in visual neglect or scanning, but they do act as an
initial screening tool and can help in identifying difficulties surrounding certain aspects of the patient s
visuospatial abilities. By using these screening tools, it provides the clinician with an indication of
what needs to be further investigated by more formal tests and/or neuroimaging (Halligan, Cockburn,
Wilson, 1991). Star Cx Letter Cx: Line

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy Essay
Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is one of the most common microvascular complications in
diabetes and can result in foot ulceration, ampuation and an impaired quality of life(Carrington AL, et
al 2002,Boulton AJ,et al 2004). The reported prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy ranges from
16% to as high as 66%2 and its prevelance is believed to increase with the duration of diabetes and
poor glucose control.(Boulton AJ.et al 2000) It s accounts for 50 75% of non traumatic amputations in
diabetic patients.(Holzer SE, et al 1998, Boulton AJM, 1998,Malay DS, et al 2006)
DPN has been defined as the presence of symptoms and/or signs of peripheral nerve dysfunction in

Assessment and diagnosis
The early diagnosis of neuropathy is crucial to stop progression to advanced stages, and further
complications. (Toopchizadeh V., et al.2016) Early intervention can protect diabetic patients from a
risk of foot ulcers and amputation, improve the quality of life (Vlckova Moravcova E, et al 2008.Van
Schie CH. 2008, Ismail K, et al 2007) and mitigate the socioeconomic consequences of diabetic foot
disease. (Davis WA,et al 2006,Lavery LA,et al 2007,Gordois A,et al 2003 )
The diagnosis of DPN is primarily clinical, based on clinical suspicion and confirmatory examination
findings from the history and examination, followed by the exclusion of other potential causes.(Vinik
A, et al 2013) Importantly, in any patients with neuropathy and specifically patients with a severe
form,it is essential to rule out any other causes apart from diabetes such as ,drug induced neuropathy
(e.g. isoniazid) , alcohol abuse, nutritional deficiency like vitamin B12 deficiency(Wile DJ,et al
2010),vasculitis , inherited neuropathies, and renal disease (Freeman R.2009) The clinical presentation
of DPN vary markedly from one patient to another depending on the type of sensory fibers involved.

Analysis Of My Daughter By Judith Sutpen
Miss Rosa describes her niece, Judith Sutpen, as a woman more strange to me than to any grief for
being so less its partner (120). Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first her
mother, then her fiancé at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her family s
wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes
accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as the
poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in turning both wealthy
and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has come to a close and the era of
desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins
to consistently portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain
woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the
Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which
Judith has endured, and specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these
tragedies. The first time the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first
encounter with Judith after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found no grieving
widowed bride but Judith standing before the closed door to that chamber, in the

Film Is Not Yet Rated Essay
This Film Is Not Yet Rated brings up many issues against Motion Pictures Association of America s
rating system. I am in favor of the issues brought up in this film as it seems that some ratings that the
MPAA s rating board give out do not always follow a concrete rule. For example, movies that
contained scenes with homosexuals having sex with each other received an NC 17 rating, compared to
other movies that have similar scenes, but with heterosexuals instead received an R rating. In the end,
it is still two people having sex with each other and should not really be differentiated by their sex or
gender.
The individual rating types are also not a good portrayal of the movie as a whole. Bully was a perfect
example of this. Amanda Kehrberg from the Phoenix New Times says The R rating is based on a
handful of swear words used by students in the film who, by the MPAA s standards, wouldn t be
allowed to watch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It contains the following ratings: AL (All), 6, 9, 12, and 16. These number ratings show the age for
which the viewer should be. For ratings 12 and 16, certain broadcast restrictions are set for when they
can be broadcasted on television. Ratings of 12 can only be broadcasted after 8 PM and ratings of 16
is after 10 PM. Compared to the MPAA s rating system, all films can be broadcasted publicly without
having to worry about the films exposure in the public. Films rated 16 do require adult supervision at
theaters. Additional icons are also next to the ratings to indicate reasons for that recommendation.
These include violence, fear, sex, discrimination, drug and alcohol abuse, and coarse language. There
are also more categories for different child age groups to take into account their developmental
process of reasoning compared to the PG and PG 13 rating. The Kijkwijzer only gives a
recommendation and gives the parents the final

The House On Mango Street Identity Analysis
The House On Mango Street, written by Sandra Cisneros, tells the story of a poor Latina teenager
named Esperanza growing up in America. Esperanza, the main character, is a kind and helpful girl.
Many factors, like her moving around often and not liking her name, contribute to Esperanza s
identity. However, growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood contribute most to Esperanza s
identity. The biggest factor that shaped Esperanza s identity is the environment in which she grows up
in. Growing up in her neighborhood thought Esperanza that sometimes the world s judgement is
unfair. Those who don t know any better come into our neighborhood scared. They think we are
dangerous. They think we will attack them with shiny knives. They are stupid people ... Show more

In her neighborhood there is a junk store where the shopkeeper will only turn the lights if you have the
money to buy something. When she wanted to experience eating in the lunchroom, the lunch lady was
so unpleasant to her that she cried. One day I ll own my own house, but I won t forget who I am or
where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the attic, ask them to stay,
because I know how it is to be without a house (87). This shows that Esperanza will be kind to those
below her unlike the shopkeeper and the lunch lady. This makes her a kind hearted human being and
that is part of who she is. Growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood shaped Esperanza to be a kind,
compassionate person who knows her worth and doesn t judge people by sight. Some may argue that
moving around often is a more important aspect of Esperanza s identity than growing up in the
neighborhood that she did. They may assert that because moving around a lot caused her to become a
self reliant person. Esperanza did not form many connections with people her own age. However,
growing up in her neighborhood caused her to mature as a human and give her the characteristic that
make her who she is. As you can see, growing up in the neighborhood that she did, contribute most to
Esperanza s identity. It caused her to be a self loving, kind, compassionate and not judging

Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
From an Indigenous person of Canada s perspective, there is more to healing someone from an illness
than focusing only on the body. They believe that there must also be a focus on the individual s
spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places
their focus on the physical body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness
being cured (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). These different approaches to medicine are based on the
philosophies and beliefs that a person has, and can often raise debate in certain medical situations. The
death of Makayla Sault raised a conflict between traditional medical practices, and western medical
practices.
Western Philosophy on Medicine
When Makayla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia the doctors at the McMaster
Children s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario gave her a seventy five per cent chance of survival. The
doctors in the hospital have the philosophical bias that the technology of advanced western medical
treatments are the most reliable form of treatment. Makayla began chemotherapy, and went through
eleven weeks of this treatment before stopping it. According to an Oncologist at McMaster, There are
no known cases of survival of this type of leukemia without a full course of treatment (Walker, C.,
2015, Makayla exercised her rights , para.1). Makayla s mother believed that the chemotherapy was

Tupac Shakur is one of the most legendary and popular poetic/rap artists to this day. He is considered
to be one of the most influential people of his time, influencing every African American citizen in
North America. Thought of as the creator of rap, Tupac has sold over seventy five million albums
worldwide although his career ended as quickly as it started. Six, is the number of years Tupac spent

To help understand Tupac s poem, you must grasp yourself around the image of a very young boy,
who has no father, grew up in the rougher parts of New York, and was barely supported by his mother.
This poem is a perfect example of a closed form traditional sonnet. The rhyming scheme is in the form
of ABCB, the best example of that is if you were to look at the first stanza, the last word in line two
and four rhyme. This type of rhyming scheme is very basic, but it really helps emphasize his thoughts
and bring out an emotional, aggressive tone.
Imagery is one of the many things that are used substantially during this poem to help express Tupac s
emotions and thoughts. For example, lines such as; Tonight is filled with rage, violence in the air give
off an image of the area Tupac grew up in, during nightfall. Another example of imagery; and
tomorrow I wake with second wind . This line helps express Tupac s feelings about the changes he
wants to encounter in order to fulfill his dreams. Tupac uses today , tonight , and 2Morrow as symbols
of the times when he believes certain things happen. The 2 in 2morrow can symbolize the way his
mother helped Tupac achieve his lifelong dream.
Tupac uses repetition, alliteration, consonance, and certain forms of archetypes to express his
emotional thoughts. This 2 can be viewed as a form of alliteration; it is constantly being repeated

Designing A Integrated Approach For Search And Rescue...
Keywords: Mobile Robot, Explore Unknown Map with Obstacles, Gas Detection, V rep, Khepera III,
Albers Algorithm.
Abstract: Nowadays, using robots instead of humans in risk operations is an interesting point in the
field of robotics. In this paper we introduce an integrated approach for search and rescue operation of
detecting gas sources in large areas; e.g. houses, factories, and labs. This aims at saving people s lives
at bottlenecks resulting from gas leak and ignition of fires. Experiment is performed using master
Khepera robot supplied with gas sensor circuit to search map, in addition to two slave Khepera
supplied with gripper to take the best path to clinch the victim.
Moreover, this paper proposes an improvement of Albers exploration algorithm to reduce the time
required to explore unknown map with different polygon obstacles. The proposed approach aims to
minimizing the overall exploration time, making it possible to localize fire sources in an efficient way,
as demonstrated in
Vrep simulation as well as real world experiments with Khepera III robot. A comparison among
different algorithms has showed the effectiveness of the proposed one where the percentage of
performance speedup is about 30% to 57% depending on size of the map and number of obstacles.

School Buses Should Have Seatbelts
School Buses Should Have Seatbelts
When you see so many incidents lately on the news regarding the students riding the bus, the lack of
supervision, and sometimes the harmful acts being done to other students; you wonder why these
things are happening. Or perhaps there was an accident involving a bus where a student was severely
hurt. I am for seatbelts being on school buses for the simple fact that anything could happen on a bus
even an accident and the students should be safe. The issue of seatbelts on a bus is not a huge
controversial issue compared to other issues such as whether or not English should be the official
language or abortion, but it is an important issue to be discussed and made a decision on. School bus
transportation is one of the safest forms of transportation in the United States. We require all new
school buses to meet safety requirements over and above those applying to all other passenger
vehicles. These include requirements for improved emergency exits, roof structure, seating and fuel
systems, and bus body joint integrity. These requirements help ensure that school buses are extremely
safe. (National Highway) If these buses are so safe why are children being critically hurt if there is an
accident? If the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) is comparing the
requirements to other passenger vehicles than they are not meeting those standards as a Dodge
Caravan is a passenger vehicle and is required to have seatbelts

Economic Trinity
Jesus Christ s death and resurrection play an extremely critical role in the revelation of the Trinity
because both of these events reveal the immanent Trinity and the economic Trinity to humanity.
Without Jesus death and resurrection, humanity would have absolutely no idea that God is tri personal;
instead, they would still only comprehend God as a solitary being. Jesus death and resurrection shatter
this notion and replace it with a much more dynamic and fecund understanding of God. In order to
understand God s triune nature, it is first important to look at the economic Trinity. In creation, it is
possible to come to know that there is a God, and this takes place through nature (i.e. natural
theology). This knowledge about God, however, is limited and it does not fully reveal him or his
triune identity. The only way that humanity was able to initially comprehend God s true identity is
through his actions in history. Through his saving actions in history (i.e. salvation history), God
revealed himself gradually to humanity: 1.) to the people of Israel through their history; 2.) in the
person of Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The immanent Trinity refers to the inner and eternal triune life of God. The immanent Trinity leads to
the revelation of the economic Trinity and vice versa, as Karl Rahner would say. The difference
between these two perspectives on the Trinity is in terms of their emphasis on the triune God s divine
activity. The economic Trinity emphasizes the Trinity s activity in creation, whereas the immanent
Trinity emphasizes the Trinity s internal activity among the three divine persons. Despite the
knowledge that we have about the immanent Trinity, the Trinity is still a mystery that becomes more
incomprehensible as a person begins to comprehend it (i.e. the principle of analogy: the more we
know, the more we realize how much we do not

Death Penalty Persuasive Essay
An Eye For An Eye
Have you ever watched a movie like Alice in Wonderland where every few scenes somebody is put to
death? This really happens to this day. The real question is if you think it should stay or be abolished.
The death penalty is needed and shouldn t be revoked in any of the states that support it. Capital
punishment, or the death penalty, is one of the oldest forms of punishments. Some of the ways
societies used to kill people was: boiling to death, hanging, and decapitation. Today some countries
still use these methods, however here in the United States capital punishment is mainly death by lethal
injection, electric chair, or firing squad. The death penalty should be in place for three reasons. The
first being the religious aspect, the deterrent of crime, and the overcrowding as well as the cost. The
United States is as close as you can be to a theocracy without being one. Think about our pledge of
allegiance, One nation under God and also on our paper money there is, In God We Trust printed on
them. Our founding fathers did not do a great job at separating church and state. Now it is what every
American uses and says everyday no matter what religion they are. Since there is no getting away
from the beliefs of the world then God is possibly the most important reason to keep capital
punishment. In Genesis 9:6: it is written, Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be
shed This can be easily understood as, if somebody kills they are to

The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History Essay
The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History
In making history, Brian Friel uses Hugh O Neill to define the characters in the play, and the way in
which his actions affect them gives the audience some characteristics to decide on the personality of
particular characters.
Harry Hoveden is obviously an important character in the play because he plays a major part in the
play, and appears in most of the major scenes. It is also clear that he is important to O Neill because he
is often the one person he turns to in times of crisis.
Harry is presented as a very loyal and sober character by, he serves to balance out some of the other
characters almost like a buffer. His calm nature in times of distress or excitement ... Show more

This calming and soothing effect also reflects on the audience because if he was not included, the play
would be a lot more negative and the audience would be more likely to feel insecure about the flow of
the play. His character contrasts so much with most of the other characters that it adds diversity to
making history. It makes some scenes more interesting because of the presence of this calm and
obviously intelligent character and his political soundness can mock characters like O Donnell. When
compared to characters like O Donnell
Harry is a very likeable character and appears as someone to be trusted and relied upon.
Brian Friel also uses him and his overwhelming loyalty towards O Neill to show a weakness in O
Neill s character. O Neill uses Harry to portray certain characters via contrast and particularly O Neill
by the way he treats Harry. It often appears that O Neill takes Harry for granted showing another side
to his character that can be thought of as weakness. Also the fact that whenever O Neill puts Harry
down he regrets it almost immediately shows that O Neill is insecure and sometimes does not think
before he speaks, so Brian Friel uses Harry to show a very important side to O Neill that could have
affected his judgment during the wars he fought and led.
Harry is also an expositional character, and Brian uses him to expose

Comparing Trudeau s Polyethnic Background And Culture
Canada s identity is tremendously challenging to delineate, due to encompassing a vast population of
various cultures, traditions, and values spanning an enormous landmass. From various historical
perspectives, Canadian identity has changed over the course of the last century valuing discrete
ideologies through various time periods. Due to various government policies and acts, as well as
reformed beliefs and ideas regarding large social issues, Canada s identity has shifted and constantly
renewed its identity over the course of the past half century.
Major government policies and acts were headway into creating Canada s modern day identity. The
Immigration Act of 1976 changed Canada s perspective on immigration eligibility, and majorly
contributed towards structuring Canada s polyethnic background and culture. Prime Minister Pierre
Trudeau grew up in an extremely discriminatory climate, and believed that Canada should inherit
collective identity. Trudeau endorsed immigration to built Canada s diverse ethnic culture, and

The Importance Of A Virtual Community
In today s world, peoples communication has changed drastically comparing to the last centuries. The
development of technologies and media have allowed us to build our own network and acquaintances,
as well as to find people who share the same interests as you, creating virtual communities . As told by
Brym and Lie, virtual communities are the associations of people scattered across the world, who
communicate via computer and about a subject of common interest (2018: 64). In this essay, I will
demonstrate the example of me being involved in a virtual community and how it connects with a
sociological theory; symbolic interactionism.
My experience in the virtual community has had a big impact on my life. It has started with my desire
to learn a right technique of running and to accomplish a dream goal of running the 21.1 km half
marathon. With the help of my father, who is an experienced marathon runner, I have a joined a sport
school and downloaded the application called Strava. Strava is an online service for athletes, available
both for computers and mobile devices that allows to record and analyze your physical activities, post
your results and share them with other members of the community. It also gives people an opportunity
to join a huge variety of groups of like minded people who strive to achieve a similar goal. In Strava I
have joined a group called 21.1 km which contains thousands of members, who share the same goal as
myself. Members post their recorded

Essay on Queen Elizabeth’s Treatment of Catholics
Queen Elizabeth s Treatment of Catholics
The reformation of England had been a long drawn out affair dating back to King Henry VIII s Act of
Supremacy in 1534. By the accession of Elizabeth in 1558, many historians believe that she inherited
a country, which was still predominantly Catholic in belief. Although people of South Eastern England
were likely to be influenced by the peoples of Europe, who were experiencing reforms, Doran (1994)
suggests that the number of Protestants accounted for just 14 per cent of the population of Sussex and
less than 10 per cent in Kent. Whether rural lifestyles were largely unaffected by changing religious
doctrine due to a primitive communications network or general disinterest, as long as the laity ... Show

In comparison to Queen Mary s ruthless policy over Protestant subjects, Elizabeth adopted a cautious
if not liberal policy towards Catholicism. The general consensus of many historians is that Elizabeth
did not really care about what her subjects believed as long as they kept their religious views to
themselves. Doran (1994 et al) bring to light instances when Protestants, exiled under the previous
reign, were invited to preach on public occasions, while Catholic preachers were simply harassed or
arrested. Nevertheless Catholics received far lighter punishments for their beliefs.
Following the 1559 Act of Uniformity, Catholics were expected to conform outwardly. The imposition
of one shilling fines on those who did not attend Church of England services on Sundays and various
other days were set out to achieve this. Similarly there were penalties imposed on clerics who did not
follow the specified rites of the Book of Common Prayer or chose to publicly attack them. Their first
offence would result in imprisonment for six months and loss of a year s income. Successive offences
would carry a year s imprisonment, then life imprisonment if caught a third time. The Act of
Supremacy was passed in the same year, which actively encouraged

  • 2. How The Pollutants Affect Communities Living Along The Strait Communities located along the Strait of Juan de Fuca are being affected by something that s hidden in the water. It is something which communities have attempted to fix; however, there is still a lot that needs to be done to completely reverse the effects it has made. This hidden thing is the pollutants humans have intentionally and unintentionally dumped into the Strait of Juan De Fuca. The dumping of sewage, the leaking of industrial waste, and the flushing of household waste are all contributing to the build up of toxic pollutants in the Strait. Individuals will discovers the ways the Strait has been affected by certain pollutants, will learn about the plans communities have started in an attempt to mitigate the impact, and will find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can therefore conclude that negative side effects from water contamination extend to rural areas where dumping sites may not be present. When we look at the fish along the Strait we seem to see the same results. In a study done on Toxic Contaminants in Dungeness Crab (2014), they found mercury and PCB s or Polychlorinated Biphenyls in multiple different species of fish, two of the species being Chinook and Coho, which is consumed by community s along the Sound (Carey, Niewolny, Lanksbury West). PCB s were used for electrical equipment in the past. The manufacturing of PCB s was stopped in 1977. However, there is evidence that shows PCB builds up in the environment ( PCBs ). This shows the impact waste can have decades after it has been mitigated, and why it is important to stop any further damage. Next there are shellfish beds that have been shut down due to their toxicity levels along the Strait. The Washington Department of Health (DOH), has a map that allows individuals to see which areas are closed for shellfish harvesting, both commercially and recreationally. Regarding Port Angeles, it is shown as being completely closed to shellfish harvest due to pollution, with the primary cause being Sewage Outfall. The pollutants in the water are absorbed by the shellfish along with any viruses and bacteria, which then causes any human who consumes the ... Telstra will provide timely information and updates on our own program of work to assist customers, suppliers and others in the industry to manage their transition. 3 WHAT IS IP v 6? IPv6 was designed during the mid 1990s, when the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) realised that IPv4 address size constraints would soon be a major impediment to the continued growth of the Internet. IPv6 was first known as the Next Generation Internet Protocol (IPng) during development within the IETF. Since 1998, it has officially been known as IPv6. In the transition to IPv6, both IPv6 and IPv4 will co exist until IPv6 eventually replaces IPv4. The most obvious difference between IPv6 and IPv4 is the vastly expanded IP address space available The most obvious difference between IPv6 and IPv4 is the address size. IPv6 addresses comprise 128 bits, whereas IPv4 addresses comprise 32 bits. This difference results in a huge expansion in available IP address space: ◊ I Pv4: 2 32 a ddresses equals 4.3 billion addresses (less than the global human p opulation of 4.7 billion) ◊ I Pv6: 2 128 a ddresses. Because the last 64 bits are used to allocate a ddresses within a subnet, that leaves 2 64, which equals 18 billion billion s ubnet addresses. IPv6 is not backwardly compatible with IPv4 Whilst IPv6 performs the same address function as IPv4, IPv6 is

  • 7. Wood Thrush Populations The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics clustered in any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2) Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly. We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1). The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the intent of their research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source population in one year will result in a decline in the sink population in the following year, as a smaller source population produces fewer young to ... Xenia, Greek for hospitality, is paramount to the fundamental understanding of Greek culture. Enforced by the almighty Zeus, xenia demands a mutual generosity between the host and guest. Host s are encouraged to provide a regal presentation of food, drink, and entertainment for their guest without a second consideration. In return, guest s reciprocate this cordial offering with graciousness and an unassuming demeanor. The prospect of defending a home from over one hundred despicable suitors and living with cordial virtue seem insurmountable to the eyes of young Telemachos. Telemachos hardly knows the potential for greatness that lies within as he has never witnessed the example of his godlike father Odysseus. The goddess Athene seeks to inspire confidence in the young Telemachos through a connection to his lost father: but she left in his spirit / determination and courage, and he remembered his father / even more than he had before... / and his heart was full of wonder, for he thought it was a divinity (35, 321 323). Menelaos furthers this cause with a detailed comparison between father and son, My heart tells me / to speak, for I think I never saw such a likeness, neither / in man nor woman, and wonder takes me as I look on him, / as this man has a likeness to the son of the great hearted Odysseus (68 69, 140 144). • 12. Neighborhood Observation I think the thing that I learned the most about Baltimore communities and schools during this excursion was that the quality of the neighborhoods changes so rapidly from street to street. I have never experienced such a quick and powerful juxtaposition between different socioeconomical areas in my life. In Little Rock, where I am from, the shift in areas is much more gradual and areas are grouped in larger clusters. In Baltimore, I have noticed that isn t true. Neighborhoods rapidly shift from block to block The transition from Canton to Madison happened so quickly that I thought I had missed something originally. This is so interesting to me and I would love to learn more about why this is the way that it is. I am very ignorant of large cities in general, but in my experience I have gotten the feeling that this phenomenon is not as produced. The people in Madison have very limited options in terms of access to food, and are thus forced to spend comparatively more of their resources in order to access the food they need. • 13. The Use Of Corporal Punishment In Schools All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19 states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety, hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student s self image and weaken their social skills (Rollins, Revisiting the Issue). When a student is hit, they think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser than everyone else. They also could stop making new friends and become socially awkward because they are afraid that everyone will not be their friend just because others were not nice. Teachers do not understand the consequences that a student must face when he or she is hit by them. Some people may say that they can go to therapy and get better but most likely the student will still have permanent emotional damage. Another reason corporal punishment does not belong in school is because it teaches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These environmental factors inclined me to choose basketball as my main recreation in terms of competitive sport and now it is one of my favorite sports. This constrained my choices in terms of what kind of recreational activities I wanted to do. Another factor that separated me from playing sports such as soccer and cricket were economic factors. During the winter season, the only way I could play these sports was if I joined the indoor leagues but these leagues were quite expensive. Coming from a middle class family, these extra expenses were hard to manage and sustain. Soon it became too much and so I had to quit and find other recreational activities to do in my leisure. Due to these various sociocultural factors, my involvement in certain sports was severely hampered while other sports such as basketball were immensely facilitated. Another environmental factor that really controls when I do my leisure is the area or locality where I live. • 18. Darwin s Theory Of Evolution Another issue is that Darwin s theory has many holes the scientists are unable to fill. These holes are obvious in Dwain s theory of evolution. Craig Belanger works for EBSCO Publishing he stated in his Biography of Charles Darwin, which was found on the TRC database under Book Collection Nonfiction: High School Edition Belanger said that, Although there are many facets to Darwin s theory of evolution by natural selection, at its core is the idea that a species ability to evolve is based on its natural selection of traits that enable survival, while traits which interfere with survival are gradually weeded out during the process of reproduction. This process of selection has come to be equated with survival of the fittest, a term which Darwin did not coin and which did not appear in his own work until later editions of On the Origin of Species. (Belanger) This idea that evolution happens through natural selection of the traits that evolve and are weeded out through reproduction is not always true, not all animals that evolve, or humans for that matter pass on the best traits because some aren t all that great. Here are some examples to prove this; they came from a researcher for the Berkeley evolution section from their article titled, Misconception of Evolution under the subheading Misconception: Natural selection is the survival of the very fittest individuals in a population. The article says that for example, a plant may not have the genes to flourish in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Behavioural Inattention Test ( Conventional ; Bitc ) The Behavioural Inattention Test (Conventional; BITC) is a battery of six tests which include the following: line crossing (also known as Albert s Test), letter cancellation, star cancellation, copying, line bisection, and representational drawing (i.e. clock drawing task; Wilson, Cockburn, Halligan, 1987). Each test and any subtests within the battery will be tabulated in greater detail below. It is important to note that many ADHOC versions of these tests are available online and can also be freely drawn by a clinician; however, the tests shown here are the originals. It is always advisable to administer the original tests if they are available at the time as it will mean more reliable and valid scoring. Cancellation Tests The main purpose of cancellation tasks are to assess for deficits in visual scanning and visual neglect (such as unilateral spatial neglect [USN]; Wilson et al., 1987). The table below will outline the different types of cancellation (Cx) tasks and what they assess. These tests in particular are not used to formally diagnose deficits in visual neglect or scanning, but they do act as an initial screening tool and can help in identifying difficulties surrounding certain aspects of the patient s visuospatial abilities. • 21. Analysis Of My Daughter By Judith Sutpen Miss Rosa describes her niece, Judith Sutpen, as a woman more strange to me than to any grief for being so less its partner (120). Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first her mother, then her fiancé at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her family s wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as the poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in turning both wealthy and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has come to a close and the era of desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins to consistently portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which Judith has endured, and specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these tragedies. The first time the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first encounter with Judith after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found no grieving widowed bride but Judith standing before the closed door to that chamber, in the ... • 23. Film Is Not Yet Rated Essay This Film Is Not Yet Rated brings up many issues against Motion Pictures Association of America s rating system. I am in favor of the issues brought up in this film as it seems that some ratings that the MPAA s rating board give out do not always follow a concrete rule. For example, movies that contained scenes with homosexuals having sex with each other received an NC 17 rating, compared to other movies that have similar scenes, but with heterosexuals instead received an R rating. In the end, it is still two people having sex with each other and should not really be differentiated by their sex or gender. The individual rating types are also not a good portrayal of the movie as a whole. Bully was a perfect example of this. • 24. The House On Mango Street Identity Analysis The House On Mango Street, written by Sandra Cisneros, tells the story of a poor Latina teenager named Esperanza growing up in America. Esperanza, the main character, is a kind and helpful girl. Many factors, like her moving around often and not liking her name, contribute to Esperanza s identity. However, growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood contribute most to Esperanza s identity. The biggest factor that shaped Esperanza s identity is the environment in which she grows up in. Growing up in her neighborhood thought Esperanza that sometimes the world s judgement is unfair. Those who don t know any better come into our neighborhood scared. They think we are dangerous. In her neighborhood there is a junk store where the shopkeeper will only turn the lights if you have the money to buy something. When she wanted to experience eating in the lunchroom, the lunch lady was so unpleasant to her that she cried. One day I ll own my own house, but I won t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the attic, ask them to stay, because I know how it is to be without a house (87). This shows that Esperanza will be kind to those below her unlike the shopkeeper and the lunch lady. This makes her a kind hearted human being and that is part of who she is. Growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood shaped Esperanza to be a kind, compassionate person who knows her worth and doesn t judge people by sight. Some may argue that moving around often is a more important aspect of Esperanza s identity than growing up in the neighborhood that she did. They may assert that because moving around a lot caused her to become a self reliant person. Esperanza did not form many connections with people her own age. However, growing up in her neighborhood caused her to mature as a human and give her the characteristic that make her who she is. Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine From an Indigenous person of Canada s perspective, there is more to healing someone from an illness than focusing only on the body. They believe that there must also be a focus on the individual s spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places their focus on the physical body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness being cured (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). These different approaches to medicine are based on the philosophies and beliefs that a person has, and can often raise debate in certain medical situations. This poem is a perfect example of a closed form traditional sonnet. The rhyming scheme is in the form of ABCB, the best example of that is if you were to look at the first stanza, the last word in line two and four rhyme. This type of rhyming scheme is very basic, but it really helps emphasize his thoughts and bring out an emotional, aggressive tone. Imagery is one of the many things that are used substantially during this poem to help express Tupac s emotions and thoughts. For example, lines such as; Tonight is filled with rage, violence in the air give off an image of the area Tupac grew up in, during nightfall. Another example of imagery; and tomorrow I wake with second wind . This line helps express Tupac s feelings about the changes he wants to encounter in order to fulfill his dreams. Tupac uses today , tonight , and 2Morrow as symbols of the times when he believes certain things happen. The 2 in 2morrow can symbolize the way his mother helped Tupac achieve his lifelong dream. Abstract: Nowadays, using robots instead of humans in risk operations is an interesting point in the field of robotics. In this paper we introduce an integrated approach for search and rescue operation of detecting gas sources in large areas; e.g. houses, factories, and labs. This aims at saving people s lives at bottlenecks resulting from gas leak and ignition of fires. Experiment is performed using master Khepera robot supplied with gas sensor circuit to search map, in addition to two slave Khepera supplied with gripper to take the best path to clinch the victim. Moreover, this paper proposes an improvement of Albers exploration algorithm to reduce the time required to explore unknown map with different polygon obstacles. The proposed approach aims to minimizing the overall exploration time, making it possible to localize fire sources in an efficient way, as demonstrated in Vrep simulation as well as real world experiments with Khepera III robot. A comparison among different algorithms has showed the effectiveness of the proposed one where the percentage of performance speedup is about 30% to 57% depending on size of the map and number of obstacles. 1 INTRODUCTION Autonomous Robots are meant to perform searching operations inside buildings, mines and caves , which are considered extremely serious. Or perhaps there was an accident involving a bus where a student was severely hurt. I am for seatbelts being on school buses for the simple fact that anything could happen on a bus even an accident and the students should be safe. The issue of seatbelts on a bus is not a huge controversial issue compared to other issues such as whether or not English should be the official language or abortion, but it is an important issue to be discussed and made a decision on. School bus transportation is one of the safest forms of transportation in the United States. We require all new school buses to meet safety requirements over and above those applying to all other passenger vehicles. These include requirements for improved emergency exits, roof structure, seating and fuel systems, and bus body joint integrity. These requirements help ensure that school buses are extremely safe. (National Highway) If these buses are so safe why are children being critically hurt if there is an accident? • 29. Economic Trinity Jesus Christ s death and resurrection play an extremely critical role in the revelation of the Trinity because both of these events reveal the immanent Trinity and the economic Trinity to humanity. Without Jesus death and resurrection, humanity would have absolutely no idea that God is tri personal; instead, they would still only comprehend God as a solitary being. Jesus death and resurrection shatter this notion and replace it with a much more dynamic and fecund understanding of God. In order to understand God s triune nature, it is first important to look at the economic Trinity. In creation, it is possible to come to know that there is a God, and this takes place through nature (i.e. natural theology). This knowledge about God, however, is limited and it does not fully reveal him or his triune identity. The only way that humanity was able to initially comprehend God s true identity is through his actions in history. Through his saving actions in history (i.e. salvation history), God revealed himself gradually to humanity: 1.) to the people of Israel through their history; 2.) in the person of Jesus ... The immanent Trinity leads to the revelation of the economic Trinity and vice versa, as Karl Rahner would say. The economic Trinity emphasizes the Trinity s activity in creation, whereas the immanent Trinity emphasizes the Trinity s internal activity among the three divine persons. Despite the knowledge that we have about the immanent Trinity, the Trinity is still a mystery that becomes more incomprehensible as a person begins to comprehend it (i.e. the principle of analogy: the more we know, the more we realize how much we do not ... The real question is if you think it should stay or be abolished. The death penalty is needed and shouldn t be revoked in any of the states that support it. Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is one of the oldest forms of punishments. Some of the ways societies used to kill people was: boiling to death, hanging, and decapitation. Today some countries still use these methods, however here in the United States capital punishment is mainly death by lethal injection, electric chair, or firing squad. The death penalty should be in place for three reasons. The first being the religious aspect, the deterrent of crime, and the overcrowding as well as the cost. The United States is as close as you can be to a theocracy without being one. Think about our pledge of allegiance, One nation under God and also on our paper money there is, In God We Trust printed on them. Our founding fathers did not do a great job at separating church and state. Now it is what every American uses and says everyday no matter what religion they are. Since there is no getting away from the beliefs of the world then God is possibly the most important reason to keep capital punishment. Harry Hoveden is obviously an important character in the play because he plays a major part in the play, and appears in most of the major scenes. It is also clear that he is important to O Neill because he is often the one person he turns to in times of crisis. This calming and soothing effect also reflects on the audience because if he was not included, the play would be a lot more negative and the audience would be more likely to feel insecure about the flow of the play. It makes some scenes more interesting because of the presence of this calm and obviously intelligent character and his political soundness can mock characters like O Donnell. When compared to characters like O Donnell Harry is a very likeable character and appears as someone to be trusted and relied upon. Brian Friel also uses him and his overwhelming loyalty towards O Neill to show a weakness in O Neill s character. O Neill uses Harry to portray certain characters via contrast and particularly O Neill by the way he treats Harry. It often appears that O Neill takes Harry for granted showing another side to his character that can be thought of as weakness. Also the fact that whenever O Neill puts Harry down he regrets it almost immediately shows that O Neill is insecure and sometimes does not think before he speaks, so Brian Friel uses Harry to show a very important side to O Neill that could have affected his judgment during the wars he fought and led. Although people of South Eastern England were likely to be influenced by the peoples of Europe, who were experiencing reforms, Doran (1994) suggests that the number of Protestants accounted for just 14 per cent of the population of Sussex and less than 10 per cent in Kent. The general consensus of many historians is that Elizabeth did not really care about what her subjects believed as long as they kept their religious views to themselves. Nevertheless Catholics received far lighter punishments for their beliefs. Following the 1559 Act of Uniformity, Catholics were expected to conform outwardly. The imposition of one shilling fines on those who did not attend Church of England services on Sundays and various other days were set out to achieve this. Similarly there were penalties imposed on clerics who did not follow the specified rites of the Book of Common Prayer or chose to publicly attack them.
