I also know it is vital to connect with the parents or guardians. I will be moving up
to sixth grade next year, but I still plan on reaching out to and being open to
communicating with all parents. Therefore, I will have a class website with a
calendar keeping students and parents up to date on assignments, test, due dates, etc.
I will also upload homework, so parents or students will have access to anything
they forgot at school. Additionally, I will continue to write a weekly newsletter and
post it on the website as well as send home copies for families that need them. I will
set up a class Remind system which is a convenient and quick form of communication
through a safe messaging system parents can use on their phones or computers.

The physical journey of a character plays a central role in the book and influences
many parts of it. Both The Odyssey and The Kite Runner, have main characters that
go through a physical journey for different reasons that impacts their lives in many
ways. By introspecting the books themes, archetypes, and symbols, it is more

An important theme that relates to the physical journey in The Kite Runner is the
past. The influence of the past affects Amir in his life as we see from the very first
sentence of the book until the end. I became what I am today at the age of twelve,

journey for his redemption. To Amir, the past defines who he currently is. All of
his feelings of guilt stimulate him to make up for his mistakes. For example, he
feels responsible for the events leading up to Hassan s murder by the Taliban
because he pushed Hassan and Ali out of Baba s house. So, years later when he
goes back to visit Rahim Khan, Amir is told to make amends by finding his nephew,
Sohrab. The past is mentioned in many parts of the book in his quest, Amir faces
many obstacles from his past.
In The Odyssey, the theme of loyalty relates to Odysseuss physical journey back to
Ithaca. Many characters in the epic are loyal and faithful, like Penelope,
Telemachus, Eumaeus, and even Odysseus himself. Penelope remains loyal to her
husband, by not choosing a suitor during the 20 years he s gone. And there she

College as well as Greenville Technical College in South Carolina where Sims is
currently in college, majoring in art education. The theme of the collection being
shown is to show the importance of a well rounded education when it comes to the
field of drawing. The importance of this theme is that each drawing is an example of
a different concept of drawing, Though multiple concepts are sometimes included in
the same drawing there will always be a main focus that teaches a new lesson and
learning these is imperative for any artist. The media used on these drawings are
graphite, charcoal, ink wash, and prisma pencil. Project one, is of an orange. Sims
follows this theme by experimenting with mixed media. She uses graphite, charcoal,
and ink wash as well as 11 media processes in the creation of this piece including,

The Bride Price is a novel written by Nigerian writer Bunchi Emecheta, which
addresses the problems of women in post colonial Nigeria. Published in 1976, it
illustrates the life of the Odia family and the hardships that they go through. Bunchi
Emecheta is successful in portraying the difficulties that women faced in that time
and place. The protagonist, Aku nna Odia, is an unmarried teenage girl who is
kidnapped by Okoboshi Obidi s familyand forced to marry him. Later in the novel,
she is rescued by Chike, a man that she falls in love with and marries. She is not
supposed to be with Chike because it is shameful to her family because he is a
descendent of slaves. Aku Nna later dies in childbirth and Chike is left with his
baby, Joy. One of her last statements is that only in death will she win her freedom.
Although this novel is a fictional story, Emecheta weaves in semi autobiographical
elements and situations. She illustrates the theme of male dominance and women
compliance to men. The men in Nigerian societies are expected to be strong and
