Maria Alejandrina Cervantes
María Alejandrina Cervantes is the prostitute in Gabriel García Márquez s novel, Chronicle of a Death
Foretold. Her characterization is a strategic choice to portray prostitutes and prostitution respectably
and honorably. García Márquez uses descriptive words to illuminate the mundane and give praise to
behaviour that would usually be degraded. The biblical references in Maria s name make her more
relatable and depict prostitution honourably. By characterizing María Alejandrina Cervantes
unexpectedly, García Márquez forces a shift in the reader s outlook on prostitution. María Alejandrina
Cervantes enchants the reader and gains their sympathy for her profession through her intriguing and
elusive qualities.

María Alejandrina Cervantes is the one exception. She provides a service to men and teaches them.
She also has power over men, unlike other women in the novel who submit to the will of their
husbands. While providing her service, María Alejandrina Cervantes has control over her male clients.
Moreover, she does not have to worry about losing her virginity, men cannot take her virginity; she
takes men s virginity. Virginity is the most important thing a woman can have in Catholic culture,
María has risen above this and turned it around so that she is in control of others virginity.
García Márquez highlights the most amicable qualities in María Alejandrina Cervantes. Being a
prostitute exempts her from having to follow the confining rules of patriarchy. By not conforming to
the traditional role of a married woman, María Alejandrina Cervantes is able to make her own money.
She doesn t directly depend on a man to support her, although it is ultimately men who provide her
income. María s characterization as an independent, free willed woman is directly juxtaposed to the
restricted lives of the traditional Latin American woman, additionally enforcing the positive elements

ARTH 121A

An Artistic View to Cirque du Soleil s Amaluna Visual art is a very popular art form in the world. It
can be seen almost anywhere. One of the most popular forms of visual art is stage shows such as those
that one would see on Broadway or at Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil shows have been recognized
around the world for their beauty, intricacy, spellbinding acts, international talent, and ability to leave
an audience with a great lasting impression. Cirque du Soleil s latest production entitled Amaluna
(which premiered on April 19th, 2012) is very unique compared to many of the Cirque shows. The
show was inspired by a play by Williams Shakespeare entitled The Tempest. The show was directed

During some parts of the act, the Amazons perform their acts so close together and so near each other,
they almost look like they ll crash into each other at any given moment (Josue201066, 2012). The
suitors also happen to be a part of this act. During some parts of the act, some suitors help the
Amazons get up to the high bars (Josue201066, 2012). The suitors also try owning up to the Amazons
by performing some skills of their own, but their moment to shine is cut short and are chased away by
the Amazons. The act ends with all the Amazons gathered as a group, strike a pose that one would do
in tae kwon do, and once again chase away the suitors (Josue201066, 2012). This act uses lighting that
is red in color. Like their costumes, I believe that red symbolizes fierceness and strength. This act also
uses rock music that is performed by the band to compliment this fast paced, high energy act.
Personally, I love this act. Not only is it very intense, but all the skills performed by the acrobats are
absolutely amazing. For instance, one of my favorite moments in the act is where Melanie does a flip
from a bar while she stands on top of it and grabs back onto the bar, which sends the rest of her
Amazon troupe into a their signature battle cry (Josue201066, 2012) .
Another interesting act in the show is an act called Manipulation. Manipulation is a slow paced, yet
intriguing act that is done

Comparing Willy And Linda Loman In Arthur Miller s Death...
In the play Death of a Salesman, Willy and Linda Loman have a complicated relationship. Linda is a
devoted and loving wife, for the most part, and takes care of her husband and the home. She acts
mainly as an enabler to Willy s dreams and delusions, additional to putting up with Willy s complaints,
insults, and fantasies. Linda serves as his defendant against the critiques of their sons, Happy and Biff.
From an onlooker s view, it might appear that the marriage is normal, but behind the act lies the truth
of Willy s unfaithfulness and the flawed relationships that infiltrate the Loman house. Furthermore, it
is wearing on Linda to see her husband failing to achieve anything, and to see him suffering from the

Marc Lepine – Psychology Perspective
MARC LEPINE
PSYCHOLOGY PERSPECTIVE
ABSTRACT
Marc Lepine, a 25 year old boy entered the corridors of Montreal s École Polytechnique University
and started separating boys and girls. He then opened fire and killed 14 girls (The Montreal Massacre
Gunman massacres 14 women, 1989). Looking into Marc s case deeply and studying his childhood
reveals that his actions can be significantly explained using psychological theories such as Miller and
Dollard s Four Stage theory, the idea of lacking empathy and Bowlby s and Ainsworth s attachment
theory. This paper not only depicts the effect of the psychological deviant behaviours but also its
connection to above mentioned theories. Steps have been taken to take this ... Show more content on

When he separated all the girls onto a corner, one girls tried explaining him that they are not feminists,
just ordinary girls wanting to be engineers. He was so carried away by his hatred that he addressed all
the engineering students as feminists women who are going to be engineers are a bunch of feminists
(Eglin and Hester, 2003) and killed them. In Marc s life, just as in any criminal s life, the absence of
empathy played a major role in making him a criminal and committing a crime.
DOLLARD AND MILLER STAGES
Dollard and Miller talk about four essential stages in ones childhood. All the four stages are important
for the proper development. If any of the stages is missing, it can have negative results throughout the
life. The four stages are feeding, cleanliness, early sex training and anger / anxiety management. No
evidence of a faulty training on the first three issues is present in Marc s Life. However, fault at the
fourth stage, anger/anxiety management, was present and played a major role in leading him to
commit the crime. With the lack of the fourth stage development, an individual is not able to control
his anger. If not worked on this, over time this becomes very dangerous and can lead to destructing
results.
The atmosphere he grew up seldom showed any anger / aggression management. His father used to
physically abuse him and his mother for very little mistakes. As a child, he learnt the only way to get

Comparing A Dystopian Society In Fahrenheit 451 And Night
In two stories from different decades have one similarity in common. They both are stories that show
and take place within a dystopian society. The book Fahrenheit 451 is the story of a firefighter that
lives in a dystopian society that does not allow books to read for a source of media. Along with the
book Night, a teenage boy named Elie who lived through the Holocaust. Even though that the
Holocaust was an actual event in our world s history, it is still considered a dystopian society. Despite
the thoughts of many individuals within these dystopian societies, the governments try to take over
and control these persons thoughts on the way society works. The two books Fahrenheit 451 and
Night are similar in many ways, because of the fact that both governments try to control the way the
people within them live.
The first similarity is the rules and regulations that these people are living with. In Fahrenheit 451
there were rules that any person who had any type of book in their possession were to be imprisoned
or even killed in some circumstances. These rules were to protect the government from being
overthrown by the fantasies that these books create and give some type of a better life for the people.
Night was a story about a Holocaust survivor. Elie and his father had been brighten to a concentration
camp where they had lived under a harsh environment. The Nazi government had created strict rules
that the ss officers had to enforce. Some of these rules were to treat the

Amylase Reaction Lab Report
The objective for performing this experiment was to establish the relationship between an individual s
ancestral diet, amylase concentration, and their amylase gene copy number. The hypothesis predicted
for this experiment was if a participant belongs to ancestors that have consumed high levels of starch
this would lead both their salivary amylase concentration and their amylase gene copy number to be
higher than those who belong to ancestors who have consumed lower levels of starch. The experiment
started off by collecting absorbance values of specific amylase concentrations using the wavelength
620 nm on the Spectrometer 200, which then was created into a calibration curve to establish that

for amplification to begin, it needs to undergo cell lysis and denature the proteins, which then is
purified (Tracey, 2017). The extracted DNA was then put into NaOH, a strong base and heated to 95
degrees Celsius, which leads to breaking down the hydrogen bonds between the nitrogenous (Tracey,

these diverse learners is a growing population of English Language Learners (ELLs), ranging in
proficiency from entering to reaching on the WIDA performance scale. The student body of ELLs in

students in each classroom. These students come from a variety of different countries and speak over
15 different languages including varying dialects, the most prevalent of which include Portuguese,
Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Russian, Polish, and Hindi. These families have immigrated
to the United States for various reasons, but two prominent categories seem to exist. The first being
highly educated immigrants who have come to pursue careers in science and medicine, many of which
work and study in Worcester, in particular UMASS Memorial Medical Center. The other group is
made up of families who have come to the United States to escape poverty, often times these families

The Treatment Of Trauma And How Yoga May Be An Integral...
The Adverse Childhood Experiences study, also known as ACE s, was a huge breakthrough for
preventative health care research. The partnership of Kaiser Permanente and the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) produced one of the largest studies ever conducted to explore
associations between childhood maltreatment (chronic and toxic stress from early adversity) and
health and well being throughout the lifespan. The study involves the data from over 17,000
participants collected from 1995 to 1997 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Although the
study s main findings were aimed at influencing the health care system, there remains a multitude of
important implications for the treatment of trauma and how yoga may be an integral part of that care.
Adverse Childhood Experiences are described as traumatic or stressful events that occur under the age
of 18 years. Multiple categories of childhood emotional and physical abuse were considered including
Abuse, Neglect, and Household Dysfunction, each with respective subsets of criteria. A questionnaire
is used to determine a person s ACE Score. Depending on how many questions they answer indicating
that childhood trauma was present, a numerical figure is used as an index for their score (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention). This score is useful for ranking them and their susceptibility to later
problems in life due to childhood adversity . The findings of this

Robert K. Merton s The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Get...
Matthew effect has different meaning in each field. For example, in sociology is the where the rich get
richer and the poor get poorer. Robert K. Merton states in his book Social Theory and Social Structure
In both its original and typical usage it is meant metaphorically to refer to issues of fame or status but
it may also be used literally to refer to cumulative advantage of economic capital (Merton, 7) Matthew
effect or the story of success can be the answer of same question that many people might have. Why
some people are more successful than others? The answer couldn t be just their intelligence or hard
working, as Malcolm Gladwell explains in his book. There would be many more reasons to make a
person successful. If we want to understand that we shouldn t just research only about the person, also
we need to spend more time and research about everything around him such as culture, family, and
their habit. One of Gladwell mention in his book is about the hockey players. The players don t have
same situation and opportunities to be chosen in the team. It is hard to imagine the difference of the
age for some months will effect on the young student chance to be elected on the team. As well
Barnsley in Outliers argues that these kinds of skewed age distributions exist whenever three things
happen: selection, streaming, and differentiated experience. (Gladwell, 25) However, Gladwell named

Challenges and Implementation of the system One of the challenges of health information exchange is
privacy and security. Even though having electronic health information exchange reduces a lot of
privacy and security issues, it raises new issues as well. A breach that formerly affected a single paper
record now can expose an entire database of patient records. At the same time, health information
exchange presents powerful new ways to improve the privacy and security of patients data, including
encryption, authentication and authorization controls, and electronic audit trails. Two of the biggest
challenges we ve encountered are patient matching/master patient index synchronization issues and
the vendors variable use of interoperability standards. The biggest issues we ve experienced, so far are
relate to the MPI synchronization of patients across all the entities. Public HIEs, as well as the private
HIE vendors, should focus on this challenge. Technically, interoperable platforms, EHR s, are often
hindered by the inability to determine an exact patient match, because the eMPI solutions aren t robust
enough. This also potentially creates data integrity and patient safety issues, if the clinical data goes
across multiple records. There also some struggles with the variable use of the interoperability
standards between the EHR vendors. One of

Morality Is The Quality Of Being Morally Right
Morality is the quality of being morally right. Thoreau views morality as acting on one s conscience.
Conscience is a faculty that God gives to every man so he can discern between right and wrong. Its
verdicts are consistent across different circumstances, and across time. Therefore, morality is absolute.
In this section, Thoreau explores ways in which people justify not acting according to their
consciences. However, Thoreau maintains the conviction that nothing can excuse withholding what is
morally right.
Thoreau focuses his point on patrons of virtue. A patron of virtue is a person who understands and
supports the right, but does not act on what he knows. He introduces this group using a verse, which
reads, A drab of state, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority will likely only abolish slavery through law when their culture has already deemed it
null. Thoreau believes only men who live by conscience can actually abolish slavery. These men show
their desires in their votes, but their choices to not need to prevail. These men know that only their
individual actions on conscience can cause the change they know is right.
Thoreau also believes that expediency cannot substitute for morality. He cites the philosopher William
Paley, who claims that the justice of every particular case of resistance is reduced to a computation of
the quantity of the danger and grievance on the one side, and of the probability and expense of
redressing it on the other (79). Paley argues that the morally correct action in any scenario requires
only comparing the costs o the actions on either side. Thoreau understands that many apply Paley s
theory to cases dealing with morality, which is evident when he calls Paley a common authority with
many on moral questions (79). Those who would use Paley s statement as a way to judge morally
correct action would not disown the United States government for its acceptance of slavery, because it
would cause unnecessary grievance on their own part, and inconvenience to the authorities. However,
Thoreau says that Paley s view only applies where the rule of expediency applies, or where only non

Music Programs Throughout The United States
Music programs throughout the United States are making quite the hurrah, and yet seem to never be
heard by the classmates and staff that walk the same halls as them. The lack of appreciation of the
music and arts programs throughout America is astonishing, and heartbreaking to many of the
students, parents, and staff that are involved with them. There are more than a few causes that can be
held responsible, however the main three are a lack of funding, lack of support from administration
and staff, and the lack of equal support amongst students involved in different activities, such as
sports, clubs, and music programs, all of which have led to a decrease in student participation in
music. However, there may be a solution in sight, with the help of some creative thinking on the part
of the administration, the support of the staff members, and the acknowledgment of the student body.
There are many benefits to music. It s a way for students to express themselves, create bonds, learn
life skills, and improve their minds. Studies have shown that music can benefit a student academically,
as well as mentally. Not only that, but if introduced in earlier childhood, music can actually help a
child with their linguistic development. As stated by Laura Lewis Brown in her article The Benefits of
Music Education, While children come into the world ready to decode sounds and words, music
education helps enhance those natural abilities. (1). I have been in band since I was in the

Thereafter, several leaders of the movement were sentenced to long prison terms in late December,
and hundreds of others were sentenced to reeducation through labor. Late in the year, according to
some reports, the government started confining some Falun Gong adherents to psychiatric hospitals
(China Country Report on Human Rights Practices for 1999).
The government continued to commit widespread and well documented human rights abuses in
violation of internationally accepted terms. These abuses stemmed from the government s extremely
limited tolerance of public unrest. The Constitution and laws provide for fundamental human rights
however, these rights are often ignored in practice. Abuses included instances of extra judicial killings,
torture and mistreatment of prisoners, forced confessions, arbitrary arrest and detention, lengthy
incommunicado detention, and denial of due process(Amnesty International. China, violations of
human rights). Prison conditions at most facilities remained very harsh. In many cases, especially in
sensitive political cases, the judicial system denied criminal defendants basic legal safeguards and due
process of the law, merely because authorities attached higher priorities to maintaining public order
and suppressing political opposition than to enforcing the legal norms of the country (Amnesty
International. China, violations of human rights). The government infringed on citizens privacy rights.

Descriptive Essay On Trail Rides
Trail rides are a lot of fun and it is even more so when where you go is beautiful. However, when
people do not know what they are doing horses can be dangerous. Over the summer I had gone to visit
Claireville Ranch in Brampton, Ontario. The ranch is located close to the city and is a place people go
to get away. They offer riding lessons, pony rides, and trail rides. You may also go for hikes and walk
your dog. The main area and parking is set a little way off the main road, which makes it quiet. It is a
breathtaking area and is great for hikes. However, the horses were kept in a small and dirty paddock
behind the barn. They may just be kept there for the day, but it was still not enough space for the
amount of horses kept there. There was also an abundance which is understandable at a barn and in the
forest, but was still bothersome. The place was extremely crowded with many people riding and
waiting at once. We also had to wait for an extremely long time. To get a spot you had to show up a
half hour beforehand and then about another half hour for the people to get back, dismount, and then
you have to mount. Even with all this the people in charge seemed to keep a somewhat organized
schedule. The service was not the best, but was not completely unbearable. You were able to call to
ask questions, which would be useful if they picked up the phone. Most of the time the phone went to
the answering machine that was little help, repeating what it had said before. You

The Levels Of Field Managers And Their Relationships
The 4 Levels of Field Managers and their Relationships
Multi unit enterprises are large corporations that own or manage several stores around the country. For
example Target, Walmart, Home Depot, large hotel chains like Marriott and car dealerships. How do
this corporations manage such an extensive number of stores? How do they all look and act the same?
According to David A. Garvin and Lynne C. Levesque authors of the HBR article The Multiunit
Enterprise, these large corporations need a hierarchy of field managers that will effectively lead all
stores. To manage large enterprises there needs to be a certain order, this is where the different
management hierarchies come in. Every single step up the ladder has a larger responsibility and more
control over benchmarks and setting goals. However, you can never forget that it s a team effort. It s
about strengthening relationships to be able to work together and communicate effectively.
There are four levels of field managers; store manager, district managers, regional vice presidents and
divisional heads. Although this might vary from industry to industry this is believed to be true for the
majority of large corporations.
Store managers: are responsible for both the day to day operations and the execution of new
initiatives. Although they have several goals based on their performance such as financial targets,
customer service benchmarks and employee satisfaction goals but they have little say in setting those
goals. On the

Most drilled massive sulfide deposits and iron formation layers occur near the top of the volcanic pile
and overly the flanks of the LLIC. Felsic rocks underlying massive sulfide deposits in the top of the
volcanic pile are FI and FII types. Rocks with a magnetic signature similar to known massive sulfide
deposits occur down section and over the center of the LLIC. These rocks are interpreted as having the
highest potential for hosting Au rich VMS deposits. Mafic rocks of the Oaks Intrusion (OI) occur in
the eastern part of the belt and have been dated at 2671±8 Ma (Keatts et al, 2003). Likely time
correlative to the OI, a magnetic mafic sill (Oaks Intrusion sill; OIS) intruded and inflated the volcanic

Dudley Vs Stephens
1. Dudley and Stephens should be tried for murder. For one, the country they were tried in stated in
law that Any person who deliberately takes the life of another is guilty of murder. In addition, the
killing was indeed intentional. According to Dudley and Stephen, they as well as the now deceased
Brooks, drew lots to determine who would be killed and then eaten. Brooks who was at the time the
weakest drew and lost. However, Brooks then took back the notion of the loser being eaten and
refused to oblige. Dudley and Stephen on the other hand didn t care and eat him anywhere. This is
murder.

with the killing of their shipmate Brooks when he begged for his life to be spared! You can t deny this

3. Dudley and Stephen will be charged with first degree murder. Their punishment should be 20 30
years or life in prison. The murder of Brooks was no accident because it was premeditated. Despite the
malnutrition as a factor Brooks was still sane and refused to be eaten but the other two ignored this
without a second thought. By convicting Dudley and Stephen it will show that the law of the country
is absolute. It will also decrease the chances of someone appealing because They were mentally ill
during the time of the killing.
4. In this case law and morality are intertwined. The law says that it is wrong to kill someone but
morals dictate that their was no other way unless the murder happened. One may argue that Dudley
and Stephen were not in the wrong or vice versa. In my eyes though the pair was in the wrong. They
killed and eat someone who wanted to live despite his I ll state. Now, if Brooks had lost and sacrificed
his body as a meal then that would be a different story. It still would be a murder but all three
members agreed to it. This scenario did not occur and so the pair of Dudley and Stephen are morally
wrong for committing

Sophocles Antigone And MLK Letter From Birmingham Jail
The fight for the good life begins with a single event. A word out of turn, an act of protest and overall,
a continuous support of ones morals. Throughout their life, one is ingrained with morals up until the
final breath they take. Antigone violates Creon s edict and fights for the rights of her brother
Polyneices and goes against the word of the law. Martin Luther King Junior (MLK) fights against
racial inequality and lobbies racial views with acts of civil disobediences. Both Antigone and MLK
acted against laws they believed to be unjust. Their own life experiences and the morals they grew up
with influenced where the fine line of right and wrong stands. In Sophocles Antigone and MLK s

Within Letter from a Birmingham Jail, MLK describes the four step plan one must follow to carry on
a nonviolent campaign. Antigone s actions throughout Antigone carefully mimic those steps.
Throughout the story you can consider Antigone s actions to be part of a nonviolent campaign. MLK
says that, In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine
whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action (paragraph six). Antigone
determined there was an injustice committed when Creon s edict decreed that no one would be able to
bury her brother Polyneices or they face a punishment by death. Antigone finds this to be an injustice,
when she asks for help from her sister Ismene she says, ...And now you can prove what you are: A true
sister, or a traitor to your family. (Antigone 26 27). Once captured by the Sentry she negotiates with
Creon, attempting to appeal to him so he is able to understand her reverence for the dead is what god
wants (lines 355 420). Within self purification Antigone undergoes strong emotions that could be
alluded to feelings of suicide and depression. All she wants is to bury Polyneices and not let this
injustice go unnoticed. She is willing to go to great lengths to fight for what she believes in and the
extent she goes to stand up for what she believes is the act of self purification MLK talks about. Her

Intel And The 8086 Chip
In 1978, Intel came out with the 8086 chip. This chip had 29,000 transistors, 20 address lines, and
could talk with up to 1MB of RAM ... designers never suspected anyone would ever need more than 1
MB of RAM (PCMech, 2001, para. 4). Intel continued to produce its 8000 series chips, increasing the
speed and the memory each time. In 1982, the 286 was the first processor to have protected mode,
which was later used by Windows and other operating systems to allow programs to run separately but
concurrently (PCMech, 2001, para. 8). In the late 1980s, Intel came out with the 386. The 386 was a
huge step forward, as it had 275,000 transistors, came in a 33 MHz version, worked with 4 GB of
RAM, and could support a virtual memory of 64 TB (PCMech, 2001, para. 9). In 2002, hyper
threading came out in the Pentium 4 HT, which meant that the CPU could be fooled into thinking it
had two CPUs for each one that it actually had. Using hyper threading along with additional cores has
enhanced performance and speed because some cores are utilized for programs while others perform
background jobs (Hoffman, 2014, paras. 6,7). Another way CPUs have been able to increase speed is
by raising the number of cores per CPU socket, and utilizing an I/O Hub called QuickPath
Interconnect (Santana, 2014, p. 565). The use of multiprocessing has been the key for the development
of today s CPUs. Memory Memory has undergone many changes over the years. In 1949, Jay

What Is The Love Of Ramayana
Ramayana is a Hindu epic which is not unknown across India. Every elder, adult and child is familiar
with the romance of Ram and Sita and grandeur of Ramayana.
Ram is maryada paroshuttam, who places great value on rules or maryada. Whereas Sita is Shakti, the
female form of energy, the goddess. She is what Parvati is to Shiva. Talking broadly, Ramayana is
about love of Ram and Sita. Do we get to see romance? Well, that depends on how you think of
romance. We do see love between Ram and Sita but no lust. Does this love counts as romance? In a
sense, yes, we can say. The love of Ram and Sita is not associated with physical love but rather with
mental love, made on sacrifice.
It is said that the marriage of Ram and Sita was a child marriage. They had met during their education

The Second And Current Republic
Introduction
From French revolution in 1789, France has had five different republican systems. The fifth and
current republic was an outcome to the Algerian crisis in 1950 s.
The First Republic began with the fall of King Louis XVI in 1792 and ended with Napoleon
Bonaparte declaring himself emperor of the First French Empire in 1804. After Napoleon s empire had
ended, a period of monarchies followed, until the 1848 Revolution saw the birth of the Second
Republic, paradoxically enough with the election of Napoleon s own nephew, Napoleon III, as its first
president. The Second Empire collapsed in 1870 with the catastrophic war against the Prussians,
which the French soundly lost. That same year, the Third Republic was created. Although the Third
Republic had a long life, it was on the other hand quite unstable. In the period from 1929 to 1939,
there were 18 different governments. The Third Republic ended in 1940 with the German occupation
of France. The Fourth Republic was established after the war and officially put in place in 1946 and
successfully led France to an economic recovery after Second World War. This essay discusses about
the constitution of French fourth republic on 13 October 1946 with the Liberté, égalité, fraternité
motto, head by Charles de Gaulle.

Same-Sex Marriage Argument
Same Sex Marriage Argument
Sarah Springstube
PHI103 Informal Logic
Instructor DeFusco
August 4, 2014
Same sex marriage has been an issue among society for many years. Not all people understand there is
no ban on same sex marriage nor is it illegal. In all fifty states there are couples of the same sex who
live together, ones who choose their professional job to be in a workplace where joint benefits are
offered, and ones who choose a religious community which accepts their relationship. Those who
believe this is an issue and feel it should be illegal were likely raised to believe it is wrong to marry
someone of the same gender. Whether these people in society were raised by what their religion
believes or what their families have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone could sit and debate this issue all day long, but understanding the reality of the situation is
another story. Everyone s reality is different and everyone s perspective on same sex marriage is
different. If society came together as a whole and realized that any person who is categorized as gay
has the same opportunities in life that anyone else has. They cannot help that they are gay, they were
born that way. Being who you are is especially important in order to feel accepted as a person.
Without the support of society and the government same sex marriages will bring a new chapter into
each and every state. It is up to the individuals in society to accept one not because of their sexual
orientation but be accepted for who they are as an individual. Listening to others debate this issue is
interesting and the feedback one encounters could make feelings change or become real.

Essay on The Doctrine of the Mean in Aristotles Politics
The Doctrine of the Mean in Aristotle s Politics.
Examining the texts of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics and Politics side by side, one is bound to find
parallels between his reasoning with regard to the individual and to the state. In Nicomachean Ethics
Aristotle discusses happiness, virtue, and the good life on an individual level and lays out necessary
provisions for the good life of a person. He maintains that virtue is a necessary element of happiness: a
man will be happy if he has virtues of justice, courage, and temperance, each constituting a balance
between the extremes. But this requirement of virtue for the happy life goes beyond the individual
level, as we see it in Politics . There, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the mean relative to us is not one, and is not the same for everyone .
With respect to this, Aristotle states that virtue seeks the mean relative to us, and this is how each
science produces its product well : by focusing on what is intermediate and making the product
conform to that. A well made product will be that to which nothing can be added or taken away
without making it worse, since it assumes that excess or deficiency ruins a good result, while the mean
preserves it. And just like good craftsmen focus on an intermediate when they produce a product, one
should aim at intermediate in regard to virtue.
Thus we see that virtue is to be achieved by concentrating on the optimal mean between the extremes
of deficiency and excess. But the discussion of virtue would be incomplete if one did not investigate
its role with respect to the object possessing virtue and its effect on that object. Since Aristotle defines
virtue as a state that decides the optimal mean relative to us, he asserts that every virtue causes its
possessors to be in a good state and to perform their functions well; the virtue of eyes, e.g., makes the
eyes and their functioning excellent, because it makes us see well , and this is argued to be true in the
case of all objects. At this point, the role of virtue with respect to the object is apparent: something
will be functioning at the best level only if it reaches an

One common trend throughout these unfortunate events is the way that the media perceives African
Americans since the beginning of slavery until the present day and age, and how society as the
audience connect and react with the portrayal of controversial events.
There are many information outlets today that help set the perception of Blacks in society. Social
media websites such as YouTube and World Star Hip Hop often hosts videos that show blacks as
animals. Viral videos, such as Sharkeisha , DcyoungFly s videos, POP Hold It Down , and more, only
portray Blacks as ignorant and violent. About four years ago it only took 220,000 views to make a
video viral, but today a viral video will have at least 1.5 million views (Fiorentino). This is significant
in that for every viral video showing Blacks in an unfavorable light, there are at least 1.5 million
people reaffirming negative stereotypes and perceptions of Blacks today. There aren t many viral
videos that portray blacks that go to college and become doctors, professors, scientist, or the president.
Within their community, Blacks have grown and taken large steps from where they were made to start.
However, society continues to disregard these advances and return them to a less than human status.
The media often presents Blacks in a negative light, especially when reporting to the mass public.

Literary Analysis Of Robert Frost s Nothing Gold Can Stay
This poem was written by Robert Frost. It was written in America, in english. It was written when
people thought the world was going to end, around the 1920 s.
The poem could be confessional, but it could also be a narrative. It tells a story of leaves and flowers
dying, and about children growing up, but the reason he wrote the poem is to tell the story of the
world ending. The poem also talks about Robert s political views, in a way. He s saying that he does
believe the world is going to end.
The title of the poem is Nothing Gold Can Stay. It conveys multiple meanings. Such as Spring, or
children growing up, or the world is going to end.
There is no repeating words in the poem, however Robert Frost does use an AA BB AA BB pattern for
his rhymes.
In the poem, a few months pass. It talks about the birth of spring and the ending of it. But if you look
at it from the children growing up perspective, then around 18 years pass. However if you look at
Nothing Gold Can Stay as a poem about the end of the world, than 9,500 years passes. He says So
Eden sank to grief in the Bible the Garden of Eden was created in the beginning, and man was kicked
out, so Eden sank to grief. Now, the world is ending and 9,500 years have passed, assuming he
believes in a young Earth.
There are no human characters in the poem, there are only leaves, flowers, and the Earth. Eden and
Nature are also characters.
Robert Frost doesn t leave out any details. He only uses his words in a way to convey

Essay on Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland
Why Gladstone Failed to Pacify Ireland
Gladstone s adoption of interest in Irish affairs in 1867 puzzled many of his contemporaries and has
continued to puzzle historians. Up until 1867 Gladstone had shown very little sympathy towards the
Irish, all his life he had held them in contempt, visiting only once. His mission to pacify Ireland was
surprising and his motives suspect. Many historians believe that Ireland was a cause through which
Gladstone was to unify his divided party. Others have said that it was in reaction to the agrarian
violence raging through Ireland, it was clear that something had to be done. Gladstone declared that it
was his high hope and ardent desire that Ireland would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was hoped that this would reduce social unrest provoked by religious discrimination. Gladstone s
plans were courageous; he had no precedent to go by and the task presented immense difficulties. The
Act dissolved the Irish Church s power, it meant that it could no longer expect tithes from Catholics
and C of I dissenters although this did not mean that the Irish were any better off; the tithes still had to
be paid but were now paid to the state rather than the Irish Church. Despite the fact that the Act solved
once and for all the major religious grievance of the Irish Roman Catholics [1]in practice it made very
little difference the lives of most Irishmen. It did not by any means solve religious differences,
Protestants still owned much of the land, and they still dominated the resented landlord class. The
consequences of the act were more symbolic than practical, it did very little to pacify Ireland.
Most agreed that the key to Ireland s problems lay in the land question. This question of questions for
Ireland (John Devoy) proved much more difficult than church reform due to the complexities of the
Irish Land System and the wider range of interests involved. Lord Kimberley wrote no measures of
any kind can satisfy the Irish: the utmost they can do is to lay the basis for a gradual improvement .
Kimberley s prognostication was very close to the truth. Neither Act actually

Nuremberg Trial In Criminal Justice
The history of international trials is largely limited to the Nuremberg Tribunals and the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. However, these limited historical precedents, with an
imperfect body of jurisprudence from which to draw, afford one objective: the search for justice. This
justice, however, is victim to the political will that drives trials (Goldstone, quoted in Historical
Evolution From Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court ). Thus, although justice is usually the
preeminent focus for a post conflict society, it is also the most difficult to attain (Hayner, 8). From a
different perspective, one may see the most significant limitation of international trials to be their
subordination to international political will. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Virtue And Justice In The Persian Letters By Montesquieu
The Persian Letters by Montesquieu describe the travels to France done by Persian noblemen, Uzbec
and Rica, in search of wisdom. The letters that they write back to their home in Persia, discuss the
European way of life in comparison to their own culture. Montesquieu uses the two travelers
disorienting view of European culture as a way to criticize aspects of his own nation at the time. A
major conflict in the book is how Uzbec s strong admiration for virtue and justice can be hypocritical
and lead to destructive outcomes. Uzbec s virtue and justice is shown to be hypocritical through his
actions. He goes on a trip to hide from his problems leaving his wives behind and forcing them to stay
virtuous to him. He constantly refers to their virtue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Uzbec is assured of his youngest wife Roxane s virtue, I cannot, Roxane, doubt that you love me

one who betrayed Uzbec. The wife whose virtue he believed in the most is the one who had deceived
him from the beginning. Yes, I have deceived you; I have bribed your eunuchs, I have played upon
your jealousy, and I have managed to make of your dreadful seraglio an abode of delights and
pleasures (Montesquieu 1973, 212). This declaration showed a glimpse into the true feelings of
Roxane. Roxane in the end commits suicide in the last chapter and writes her last letter to Uzbec, And

modesty and decorum, why cannot I have you brought in great numbers to this unhappy seraglio, so
that I may witness your terror at all the blood I am about to spill here! (Montesquieu 1973, 225) In her

event to happen and yet Uzbec was too far away to do anything about it, virtue was not able to save

Indigenous Religions

Ms Office vs Google Docs

I have been analyzing the functionality, user friendliness, start up cost, maintenance cost, and few of

keep your team up and running. Upgrades are generally incremental, so as to not require much new

Conclusion
Online office software isn t likely to completely replace traditional installed office software any time
soon. In fact, it s unlikely to make sense to switch an office full of happy Microsoft Office users
completely over to an online office suite, given Microsoft s affordable nonprofit pricing.
The new web apps feature in Office 2010bring the Microsoft Office suite considerably closer to the
remote access and collaboration features of a tool like Google Docs.
For small or new organizations, though, the collaboration features and lack of maintenance of an
online suite can be a compelling reason to move to online only apps. In fact, the collaboration tools
can be useful to many. A number of organizations rely on Microsoft Office for their day to day work,
but use one of the online tools for documents that require a lot of input from a number of different

Analysis Of Sanford Meisner On Acting
In his book Sanford Meisner On Acting, Meisner teaches students in his class the techniques needed in
acting. The book is written in a way that is enjoyable to the reader because it is written in third person,
where an observer writes about what occurred in the class among Meisner and his students. In the
book, Meisner teaches the students about the importance of being genuine; they should stop
pretending and they should stop being polite. They should rather just do what feels genuine to them. I
liked that the book was written based on observed experiences and not just laying down the acting
techniques for readers to follow. By reading about the experiences, I felt as though I was in the class
with Meisner and this enabled me to understand the techniques better.
The first things that caught my eye from the book are the principles Meisner gives his students. On the
topic The Pinch and The Touch , he says, Don t do anything unless something makes you do it...what
you do doesn t depend on you: it depends on the other fellow (Meisner 34). He goes further to
illustrate the two principles by pinching John, one of his students, who reacts by shouting Mr.
Meisner! The principles caught my eye because I have heard my acting professor constantly tell us the
same thing. He always says that we should have an objective of why we are choosing to do a certain
action and our actions should be driven by what our partner does or says. I liked his way of illustrating

Music Analysis Of The Film Music Of King Kong 1933
Terrance Mesadieu
Music Analysis
King Kong 1933 King Kong is the perfect example of the early development of motion picture music
in the twentieth century. The music was not only essential to the film, but musical scores also made
the film better for the audience. Clever composers created a true musical drama; Max Steiner was
known for his musical ability including films like Gone with the Wind. Steiner spent a lot of amount
on the music of film King Kong 1933. The music meant everything to that picture, and the picture
meant everything to RKO, because it saved the studio from bankruptcy.... The impact of King Kong
on the movie going public was astonishing. It emerged into a country frightened, impoverished, in the
grip of the Great Depression. The main instrument used in the film music was orchestra which was
perfectly aligned with the theme of characters in the film at various points. Steiner developed the
music in the symphonic fashion which allowed the film to hit a high score musically and became a
symphonic fashion. The usage of the cycle of operas was brilliant with a soothing tune to the ears. The
Main Title music opens with King Kong s three note motive; heard throughout the entire score in
many sections and guises, but always identifying King Kong himself. The film has a fifty foot giant
that depicted a lot of terror to the audience which was facilitated by music; the main title continues
with the stolen love of the heroine of the movie. Ann Darrow played the heroine who was saved
dramatically by the king kong, and she fell in love with him. Her love for her lifesaver and her further
development of the relationship with the gorilla was the core of music and the film. The jungle dance
was a faster tune with continuous rhythm, while after the jungle dance, music became much softer,

How Has Nursing Changed Essay
Nursing today is at the heart of healthcare provision in the United Kingdom, and nurses are the largest
group of clinical employees in the NHS (The Royal Marsden, 2011). This essay will illustrate a
discussion on how nursing has changed in the past twenty or so years with regards to how the public
health needs have changed and in particular, at how the role of the nurse has adapted to ensure that
high quality care is provided. Fluctuating demographics and an upsurge in life expectancy has had
increased demand on the NHS services, which in turn has resulted in variations in the roles of
healthcare professionals. In particular this, and a change in education, has led to new and more
complex roles for nurses who are now taking on more responsibility ... Show more content on

When the Labour government came into power in 1997 they initiated many policies which in result
has helped nursing develop and grow in professionalism, skills and leadership (Booker, 2010) .
Nurse education was a comparative new arrival to higher education. Until the early 1990s the larger
part of student nurses embarked on a hospital based apprentice style course of nursing education
(Willis Commission Report, 2012). Project 2000 seen that nurse education was transformed and the
programme established. This type of nursing was university based and students who embarked on this
course were supernumerary (Kozier, 2012).
In 1999 the UKCC set up a Commission for Nursing and Midwifery Education, which suggested that
more emphasis should be placed on the development of competency in clinical skills within pre
registration nursing courses. Following this a new curriculum was developed, known as Fitness for
Practice. This new curriculum consisted of a one year Common Foundation Programme followed by a
two year Branch Programme (Kozier 2012). According to the Fundamentals of Nursing by Kozier,
2012 this type of nurse education reduced the amount of clinical experience student nurses were
exposed to, but concentrated on social sciences and

The Evolution Of The Accounting Profession
Discussion Board 1: Case 1 5: The Evolution of the Accounting Profession Throughout history the
accounting profession has seen continuous growth. It has even been discovered that an elaborate
accounting system was utilized as early as 8000 to 3000 B.C. (Schroeder, Clark, Cathey, 2014).
Humans have deemed it necessary for centuries to account for money and inventory items. In the
nineteenth century, the accounting profession took another major step forward when the joint ventures
evolved into corporations in England resulting in stockholders needing financial records reflecting the
companies performance (Schroeder et. al, 2014). This emergence of corporations brought about the
need for reporting on a periodic basis in order to allow owners and prospective stockholders to
evaluate the company to determine if their investments, or potential investments, yielded a return
(Schroeder et. al, 2014). The evolution of these corporations brought about the need for accounting
standards and laws that would that protect the investment of shareholders, require that dividends be
paid from net gains, and require that audits be conducted by people other than the directors of the
organization(s) (Schroeder et. al, 2014). These changes in the nineteenth century led the charge in the
development for accounting standards and laws that we still follow today, and they are constantly
evolving and improving in order to protect investors from scandal and fraud. The latter part of the

The Short And Medium Term Needs For Emergency Shelter
Intro
Contemporary designers and architects are addressing the short and medium term needs of people who
require emergency and refugee shelters, by evaluating the requirements of people once they have been
displaced from their home due to a natural disaster, or any other adversity that they may face. This
article will compare and contrast different types of emergency shelters, both short and long term, and
appraise the key considerations that contemporary designers and architects must make while creating
these refuges.
Addressing short and medium term needs for emergency shelter
A short term emergency shelter is usually something that people call transitional accommodation. The
short term needs for an emergency shelter consist of: A place to sleep, a roof over their head, showers,
cleans drinking water and food. Designer s need to come up with a way that they can gain access to
clean water and safe food in the midst of a natural disaster, and how they will get it to them as quickly
as possible, whilst making sure there is enough room in the housing estate to look after everyone
whose been evicted from their home, or their home has been damaged and ruined in one way or
another. Medium and long term needs in emergency shelters change a little bit, with them still needing
all the basics, but also then having things readily available like doctors, medication, physiatrists, and
educational tools like a local school, or books for the children to read in there spare time. They

Their lives are the same, but their personalities and the truth are not. Finding out about different
personalities and versions of the truth, but with love and approval is the main reason for the sisters.
Dana and Charisse figure out why James is married to two women during James s younger years.
Dana is attractive and scholastic. Charisse is moderate and diligent. They both have relationships with
boys and reflect about their mothers. The main truth is Dana knows about James s other family, but
Charisse does not know. Dana and Charisse are well developed characters because of the same process
they go through the whole novel. They develop the different versions of the truth and their different
personalities. They can be realistic, because anybody can go through the same situation that Dana and
Charisse did. More people are having the same problem then what the sisters have. The sisters

Her characterization is a strategic choice to portray prostitutes and prostitution respectably and honorably. García Márquez uses descriptive words to illuminate the mundane and give praise to behaviour that would usually be degraded. The biblical references in Maria s name make her more relatable and depict prostitution honourably. Moreover, she does not have to worry about losing her virginity, men cannot take her virginity; she takes men s virginity. Virginity is the most important thing a woman can have in Catholic culture, María has risen above this and turned it around so that she is in control of others virginity. García Márquez highlights the most amicable qualities in María Alejandrina Cervantes. Being a prostitute exempts her from having to follow the confining rules of patriarchy. By not conforming to the traditional role of a married woman, María Alejandrina Cervantes is able to make her own money. The partnership of Kaiser Permanente and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) produced one of the largest studies ever conducted to explore associations between childhood maltreatment (chronic and toxic stress from early adversity) and health and well being throughout the lifespan. The study involves the data from over 17,000 participants collected from 1995 to 1997 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Conscience is a faculty that God gives to every man so he can discern between right and wrong. Its verdicts are consistent across different circumstances, and across time. Therefore, morality is absolute. In this section, Thoreau explores ways in which people justify not acting according to their consciences. However, Thoreau maintains the conviction that nothing can excuse withholding what is morally right. Thoreau focuses his point on patrons of virtue. He cites the philosopher William Paley, who claims that the justice of every particular case of resistance is reduced to a computation of the quantity of the danger and grievance on the one side, and of the probability and expense of redressing it on the other (79). Paley argues that the morally correct action in any scenario requires only comparing the costs o the actions on either side. Thoreau understands that many apply Paley s theory to cases dealing with morality, which is evident when he calls Paley a common authority with many on moral questions (79). Those who would use Paley s statement as a way to judge morally correct action would not disown the United States government for its acceptance of slavery, because it would cause unnecessary grievance on their own part, and inconvenience to the authorities. The lack of appreciation of the music and arts programs throughout America is astonishing, and heartbreaking to many of the students, parents, and staff that are involved with them. There are more than a few causes that can be held responsible, however the main three are a lack of funding, lack of support from administration and staff, and the lack of equal support amongst students involved in different activities, such as sports, clubs, and music programs, all of which have led to a decrease in student participation in music. However, there may be a solution in sight, with the help of some creative thinking on the part of the administration, the support of the staff members, and the acknowledgment of the student body. There are many benefits to music. It s a way for students to express themselves, create bonds, learn life skills, and improve their minds. The law says that it is wrong to kill someone but morals dictate that their was no other way unless the murder happened. One may argue that Dudley and Stephen were not in the wrong or vice versa. In my eyes though the pair was in the wrong. They killed and eat someone who wanted to live despite his I ll state. Antigone s actions throughout Antigone carefully mimic those steps. Throughout the story you can consider Antigone s actions to be part of a nonviolent campaign. MLK says that, In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action (paragraph six). Antigone determined there was an injustice committed when Creon s edict decreed that no one would be able to bury her brother Polyneices or they face a punishment by death. Antigone finds this to be an injustice, when she asks for help from her sister Ismene she says, ...And now you can prove what you are: A true sister, or a traitor to your family. (Antigone 26 27). Once captured by the Sentry she negotiates with Creon, attempting to appeal to him so he is able to understand her reverence for the dead is what god wants (lines 355 420). Within self purification Antigone undergoes strong emotions that could be alluded to feelings of suicide and depression. All she wants is to bury Polyneices and not let this injustice go unnoticed. In 1982, the 286 was the first processor to have protected mode, which was later used by Windows and other operating systems to allow programs to run separately but concurrently (PCMech, 2001, para. 8). In the late 1980s, Intel came out with the 386. The 386 was a huge step forward, as it had 275,000 transistors, came in a 33 MHz version, worked with 4 GB of RAM, and could support a virtual memory of 64 TB (PCMech, 2001, para. 9). In 2002, hyper threading came out in the Pentium 4 HT, which meant that the CPU could be fooled into thinking it had two CPUs for each one that it actually had. Using hyper threading along with additional cores has enhanced performance and speed because some cores are utilized for programs while others perform background jobs (Hoffman, 2014, paras. 6,7). Another way CPUs have been able to increase speed is by raising the number of cores per CPU socket, and utilizing an I/O Hub called QuickPath Interconnect (Santana, 2014, p. 565). • 27. The Second And Current Republic Introduction From French revolution in 1789, France has had five different republican systems. The fifth and current republic was an outcome to the Algerian crisis in 1950 s. The First Republic began with the fall of King Louis XVI in 1792 and ended with Napoleon Bonaparte declaring himself emperor of the First French Empire in 1804. After Napoleon s empire had ended, a period of monarchies followed, until the 1848 Revolution saw the birth of the Second Republic, paradoxically enough with the election of Napoleon s own nephew, Napoleon III, as its first president. The Second Empire collapsed in 1870 with the catastrophic war against the Prussians, which the French soundly lost. That same year, the Third Republic was created. Although the Third Republic had a long life, it was on the other hand quite unstable. In the period from 1929 to 1939, there were 18 different governments. The Third Republic ended in 1940 with the German occupation of France. The Fourth Republic was established after the war and officially put in place in 1946 and successfully led France to an economic recovery after Second World War. This essay discusses about the constitution of French fourth republic on 13 October 1946 with the Liberté, égalité, fraternité motto, head by Charles de Gaulle. They cannot help that they are gay, they were born that way. Being who you are is especially important in order to feel accepted as a person. Examining the texts of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics and Politics side by side, one is bound to find parallels between his reasoning with regard to the individual and to the state. In Nicomachean Ethics Aristotle discusses happiness, virtue, and the good life on an individual level and lays out necessary provisions for the good life of a person. He maintains that virtue is a necessary element of happiness: a man will be happy if he has virtues of justice, courage, and temperance, each constituting a balance between the extremes. Therefore, the mean relative to us is not one, and is not the same for everyone . With respect to this, Aristotle states that virtue seeks the mean relative to us, and this is how each science produces its product well : by focusing on what is intermediate and making the product conform to that. A well made product will be that to which nothing can be added or taken away without making it worse, since it assumes that excess or deficiency ruins a good result, while the mean preserves it. And just like good craftsmen focus on an intermediate when they produce a product, one should aim at intermediate in regard to virtue. Thus we see that virtue is to be achieved by concentrating on the optimal mean between the extremes of deficiency and excess. But the discussion of virtue would be incomplete if one did not investigate its role with respect to the object possessing virtue and its effect on that object. Since Aristotle defines virtue as a state that decides the optimal mean relative to us, he asserts that every virtue causes its possessors to be in a good state and to perform their functions well; the virtue of eyes, e.g., makes the eyes and their functioning excellent, because it makes us see well , and this is argued to be true in the case of all objects. At this point, the role of virtue with respect to the object is apparent: something will be functioning at the best level only if it reaches an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book, Meisner teaches the students about the importance of being genuine; they should stop pretending and they should stop being polite. They should rather just do what feels genuine to them. Music Analysis Of The Film Music Of King Kong 1933 Terrance Mesadieu Music Analysis King Kong 1933 King Kong is the perfect example of the early development of motion picture music in the twentieth century. The music was not only essential to the film, but musical scores also made the film better for the audience. Clever composers created a true musical drama; Max Steiner was known for his musical ability including films like Gone with the Wind. Steiner spent a lot of amount on the music of film King Kong 1933. The music meant everything to that picture, and the picture meant everything to RKO, because it saved the studio from bankruptcy.... The impact of King Kong on the movie going public was astonishing. It emerged into a country frightened, impoverished, in the grip of the Great Depression. The main instrument used in the film music was orchestra which was perfectly aligned with the theme of characters in the film at various points. Steiner developed the music in the symphonic fashion which allowed the film to hit a high score musically and became a symphonic fashion. The usage of the cycle of operas was brilliant with a soothing tune to the ears. The Main Title music opens with King Kong s three note motive; heard throughout the entire score in many sections and guises, but always identifying King Kong himself. The film has a fifty foot giant that depicted a lot of terror to the audience which was facilitated by music; the main title continues with the stolen love of the heroine of the movie. Ann Darrow played the heroine who was saved dramatically by the king kong, and she fell in love with him. Her love for her lifesaver and her further development of the relationship with the gorilla was the core of music and the film. The jungle dance was a faster tune with continuous rhythm, while after the jungle dance, music became much softer, romantic and lush. The entrance of the Kong was a long sequence which was created by Steiner in an orchestral tradition. Viola and Celesta players were given a few notes to play quickly along with some violence in some passages. • 40. The Evolution Of The Accounting Profession Discussion Board 1: Case 1 5: The Evolution of the Accounting Profession Throughout history the accounting profession has seen continuous growth. It has even been discovered that an elaborate accounting system was utilized as early as 8000 to 3000 B.C. (Schroeder, Clark, Cathey, 2014). Humans have deemed it necessary for centuries to account for money and inventory items. In the nineteenth century, the accounting profession took another major step forward when the joint ventures evolved into corporations in England resulting in stockholders needing financial records reflecting the companies performance (Schroeder et. al, 2014). This emergence of corporations brought about the need for reporting on a periodic basis in order to allow owners and prospective stockholders to evaluate the company to determine if their investments, or potential investments, yielded a return (Schroeder et. al, 2014). The evolution of these corporations brought about the need for accounting standards and laws that would that protect the investment of shareholders, require that dividends be paid from net gains, and require that audits be conducted by people other than the directors of the organization(s) (Schroeder et. al, 2014). These changes in the nineteenth century led the charge in the development for accounting standards and laws that we still follow today, and they are constantly evolving and improving in order to protect investors from scandal and fraud.
