Abstract: How graphs became just another big data primitive Graph-shaped data is used in product recommendation systems, social network analysis, network threat detection, image de-noising, and many other important applications. And, a growing number of these applications will benefit from parallel distributed processing for graph featuring engineering, model training, and model serving. But today’s graph tools are riddled with limitations and shortcomings, such as a lack of language bindings, streaming support, and seamless integration with other popular data services. In this talk, we’ll argue that the key to doing more with graphs is doing less with specialized systems and more with systems already good at handling data of other shapes. We’ll examine some practical data science workflows to further motivate this argument and we’ll talk about some of the things that Intel is doing with the open source community and industry to make graphs just another big data primitive.

Analyzing interconnection structures among the data through the use of graph algorithms and graph analytics has been shown to provide tremendous value in many application domains (like social networks, protein networks, transportation networks, bibliographical networks, knowledge bases and many more). Nowadays, graphs with billions of nodes and trillions of edges have become very common. In principle, graph analytics is an important big data discovery technique. Therefore, with the increasing abundance of large scale graphs, designing scalable systems for processing and analyzing large scale graphs has become one of the timeliest problems facing the big data research community. In general, distributed processing of big graphs is a challenging task due to their size and the inherent irregular structure of graph computations. In this paper, we present a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art to better understand the challenges of developing very high-scalable graph processing systems. In addition, we identify a set of the current open research challenges and discuss some promising directions for future research.

Mankind has stored more than 295 billion gigabytes (or 295 Exabyte) of data since 1986, as per a report by the University of Southern California. Storing and monitoring this data in widely distributed environments for 24/7 is a huge task for global service organizations. These datasets require high processing power which can’t be offered by traditional databases as they are stored in an unstructured format. Although one can use Map Reduce paradigm to solve this problem using java based Hadoop, it cannot provide us with maximum functionality. Drawbacks can be overcome using Hadoop-streaming techniques that allow users to define non-java executable for processing this datasets. This paper proposes a THESAURUS model which allows a faster and easier version of business analysis.

RAPIDS cuGraph – Accelerating all your Graph needs

Connected Data World

The relationships between data sets matter. Discovering, analyzing, and learning those relationships is a central part to expanding our understand, and is a critical step to being able to predict and act upon the data. Unfortunately, these are not always simple or quick tasks. To help the analyst we introduce RAPIDS, a collection of open-source libraries, incubated by NVIDIA and focused on accelerating the complete end-to-end data science ecosystem. Graph analytics is a critical piece of the data science ecosystem for processing linked data, and RAPIDS is pleased to offer cuGraph as our accelerated graph library. Simply accelerating algorithms only addressed a portion of the problem. To address the full problem space, RAPIDS cuGraph strives to be feature-rich, easy to use, and intuitive. Rather than limiting the solution to a single graph technology, cuGraph supports Property Graphs, Knowledge Graphs, Hyper-Graphs, Bipartite graphs, and the basic directed and undirected graph. A Python API allows the data to be manipulated as a DataFrame, similar and compatible with Pandas, with inputs and outputs being shared across the full RAPIDS suite, for example with the RAPIDS machine learning package, cuML. This talk will present an overview of RAPIDS and cuGraph. Discuss and show examples of how to manipulate and analyze bipartite and property graph, plus show how data can be shared with machine learning algorithms. The talk will include some performance and scalability metrics. Then conclude with a preview of upcoming features, like graph query language support, and the general RAPIDS roadmap.

Here we analyse the processing speed for the 4GB data on cloudx lab with Hadoop mapreduce with varing mappers and reducers and with pig script and Hive querries and spark environment along with machine learning technology and from the results we can say that machine learning with Hadoop will enhance the processing performance along with with spark, and also we can say that spark is better than Hadoop mapreduce pig and hive, spark with hive and machine learning will be the best performance enhanced compared with pig and hive, Hadoop mapreduce jar.

One of the top banks in Europe, needed a system to provide better performance, scaling almost linearly with the increase in information to be analyzed, and allowing to move the processes that were currently being executed in the Host to a Big Data infrastructure. During a year we've worked on a system which is able to provide greater agility, flexibility and simplicity for the user to view information when profiling and is now able to analyze the structure of profile data. It's a powerful way to make online queries to a graph database, which is integrated with Apache Spark and different graph libraries. Basically, we get all the necessary information through Cypher queries which are sent to a Neo4j database. Using the last Big Data technologies like Spark Dataframe, HDFS, Stratio Intelligence or Stratio Crossdata, we have developed a solution which is able to obtain critical information for multiple datasources like text files o graph databases.
