Haninabal kanirranu.
 According to Northrop Frye “ Every poet has his private
mythology”.
 Northrop Frye looked on myth as a means of recounting “A
society, history, religion of social structure”.
 Kailasam’s plays definitely conjure up the way in which they
could oust the conventional heroes like Arjuna or Bheema from
their roles.
 Kailasam’s uniqueness lies not merely in evoking our sympathies
for Karna, Ekalavya, Bharata or Keechaka, but also in elevating
them to the level of tragic heroes were masculine, skillful and
capable of achievement.
 We can see a play of various “Purposes” in kailasam’s
mythological drama. For instance The Brahmin’s Curse is built
on Karna’s intention to prove his worth to the world, and
Kailasam’s purpose of questioning the treatment given to Karma.
The Purpose :
 T. P. Kailasam wrote an English play inspired by this puranic
theme, called the “The Purpose”.
 This play divided into two acts.
 The central Theme :based on AdiParva of Mahabharata.
 The purpose is a mythical play deals with past and its shows us
many things like culture, religion and the ancient time of India.
 He attempted to bring into limelight marginalized or fringe
characters such as Ekalavya and Karna.
 The purpose highlights Ekalavya’s ambition to become the
greatest Archer in the world in order to protect his fawns from the
wolves.
Character of Arjuna :
 He is protagonist in Mahabharata.
Powerful character .
 Belongs to upper class family. He
is arrogant and prodigal Prince.
 Arjuna wants to became the great
Archer in the world.
 Arjuna’s purpose behind learning
archery is self centered.
Character of
Eklavya :
 He is protagonist in this play.
 He belongs to lower class
family.
 He wants become a student of
archery.
 His Nobel purpose to learn
archery. For save the lives of
innocent animals.
 He is good Archer than Arjuna.
Comparison character of Drona with Anand Kumar
(movie super 30) :
Anand KumarGuru Drona
 Guru drona is character of myth of
Mahabharata.
 He teaches only upper class people.
Like a king or a prince.
 “All are equal, but some are more
equal than other.”
 Concept of Guru Dakshina.
 We can not say that Drona is Ideal
guru. In perspective of T. P. Kailasm.
 Educate system Ancient time .
 Main character of the movie super 30.
 He teaches poor class person.
 All students are equal for teacher.
 "રાજા કા બેટા હી રાજા નહહ બનેગા, રાજા
વહી બનેગા જો હકદાર હોગા."
 He teaches students without taking
money.
 We can say that Anand Kumar is
Ideal guru.
 Educate system in present time.
Present time
