The brain is the control tower of our body All our activities are controlled by our brain, It is located inside the bony skull of our head, which protects it from injuries. (The brain works continuously throughout day and night/t stores, retrieves and processes the information it gathers, just like computer. It also controls the working of different organs of our body. It controls speech, memory, decision-making, emotions, intelligence, movement and balance (t has three parts-cerebrum, cerebellum and medullao blongata or brainstem)

Brain is the boss of our body and an active member of the nervous system. ​
It works even when you are sleeping

4. The nervous system is comprised of two major parts, the central
nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS)

6. BRAIN
❖ All our activities are controlled by our brain.
❖ The brain work continuously throughout day and night.
❖ It stores,retrieves and processes the information it
gathers,just like computer.
❖ It also controls the working of different parts of the body.
❖ It controls speech,memory,decision making, emotions,
intelligence,movement and balance.

7. ➔ CEREBRUM- largest part of brain.Composed
of left and right hemispheres.The left
hemispheres controls the right side of the
body and vice-versa.It controls speech,
learning memory, intelligence,decision making
and imagination.
➔ CEREBELLUM-The rare part of the brain
located under the cerebrum.Its function is
to coordinate muscle movements and maintain
balance.
➔ MEDULLA OBLONGATA-It is the lower part
of the brain and it look like a stem.It
connects cerebrum and cerebellum to the
spinal cord.It controls breathing heart rate
and other involuntary muscle,therefore it is
called “VITAL KNOTE”

8. Spinal cord
Spinal cord connects the brain to the rest of the
body. It is a continuation of the medulla oblongata
and runs down the middle of the back.The spinal
cord is enclosed in the vertebral column.
Main Function
★ It sends and receives impulses to and from the
brain.
★ It acts as a centre for immediate response,i.e
reflex action.

9. Peripheral Nervous system (PNS)
★ Nerves in our body carry
messages from brain to other
parts of our body through spinal
cord and vice versa.
★ All the nerves that connect the
central nervous system with the
various body parts collectively
form peripheral nervous system

11. ➢ Sensory Nerves- They carry messages from sense organs
to the central nervous system.The brain tells us what we
see, hear, taste, smell or feel.
➢ Motor Nerves- They bring messages from the central
nervous system to the muscles and tell them what to do.
➢ Mixed Nerves- They perform the functions of the both
sensory and motor nerves.they are found in brain and spinal
cord.
