The Lion King Summary
Simba is born to Mufasa, the king, leaving Simba's uncle second–in–line to the throne. The jealous Scar lures Simba and his friend Nala into a
forbidden elephant graveyard, where he tries to kill them. Luckily, Mufasa saves them. Scar then, working with the hyenas, murders Mufasa, then
manipulates Simba into thinking that it was his fault. Simba goes into exile to punish himself for what he thinks he has done. Scar then tells the
pride that Mufasa and Simba were killed in the accident, and he takes over as king. In the desert, Simba meets Pumbaa the warthog and Timon the
meerkat. Simba grows up in the company of his friends with the motto "hakuna matata" meaning "no worries" in Swahili. Nala, Simba's childhood
friend, visits him and tells him that life is horrible under the rule of King Scar. With the help of his friends, he goes to confront Scar. When he
reaches, Scar tells him that he killed Mufasa. Out of anger, Simba corners Mufasa. He spares Scar's life, but Scar again tries to attack him. Simba
once again corners Scar. Scar tries to blame it on the hyenas. Simba pushes Scar off the cliff. Scar survives the fall, but is killed by the lions who
heard him trying to betray them.

I Worked For Bruce Davis
This campaign season, I worked for Bruce Davis. Bruce Davis was the Democratic candidate chosen in the primary to run for House of
Representatives in the Thirteen District in North Carolina. This campaign season was not a traditional one in comparison to what I've studied of
past campaign's. Our world has changed with the creation of social media and campaign's have changed with it. In our campaign we had to look
harder to find a proper strategy for using social media to are advantage and think outside the box. Bruce Davis chose to give his intern's and his staff
free reign to come up with ideas to move our campaign into modern times. These ideas will be discussed throughout this paper. I will discuss my
personal experience, which was an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were fighting an uphill battle especially with the lack of support by theDemocratic party. Another huge factor about this congressional district that
must be considered in this race. Bruce Davis would be the first African American to represent this particular electoral district. The fact that Bruce is an
African American is huge part of the context in our district.
After analyzing the electoral district and the demographics in each of the counties we figured out that we were dealing with a largely white majority. In
the thirteen district: made up of parts of Guilford County, Davie County, Iredell, Davison, Rowan County white people make up 79.5 % of district.
African Americans on average make up 15.88%. And the Hispanic population is less then 10% in every district accept Guildford County. We
discussed this with Bruce in our meeting's because we needed to come up with a plan to stop people immediately dismissing Bruce because of racial
discrimination which is still very prominent in the south and worldwide. We decided that when we handed out literature in this particular rural highly
republican areas wouldn't put his face on literature. That way he wouldn't be immediately judged by the color of skin and maybe they could focus on
issues he stood for. Other important demographics' in this congressional district show that on average we were looking at more republican's then

The Lasting Influences of the Classical World on Other...
The Lasting Influences of the Classical World on Other Cultures across Time Drama and dramatic performances have consistently been present
throughout human society, both as a medium for entertainment as well as a forum for education and critique. Aristophanes, the "father of modern
drama", was the first to really successfully amalgamate these two ideas together within his dramatic pieces, as can be seen in his works Wasps and
Frogs. Shakespeare was the next great dramatist, and arguably the great dramatist, and he has evolved Aristophanes' ideas and methods and developed
them to greater extent. These can be seen in works such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, King Lear and Hamlet, but are present in the large majority of
his works. And with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here the First Dog, representative of Cleon, is accusing Laches not of having "siciliating" (embezzling) cheese (money) but of not having given the
first dog his fair share. "How can anyone claim to be serving your interests if I, the Dog, am not given my fair share?" says the first dog. Aristophanes
uses the character of the dog to highlight the corruption of Cleon and how he has his fingers in all of the proverbial pies. He also uses the parabasis to
criticise the jurymen of Athens, comparing the jurymen to wasps and highlighting to the Athenians how the jurymen are prone to harsh sentencing and
unjust treatment of the accused: "if you haven't got a sting, you get no jury fee." The entire play is Aristophanes' comments on the corruption of the
jurymen, and their exploitation by the demagogue Cleon. Philocleon personifies the self–interested, corrupt jurymen, who are taking incentives from
Cleon (an increased pay) to judge harshly and sentence even more so. Cleon was using these trials to gain public appraisal as a seeker of justice, of
course at the expense of the accused, which had been treated with an injustice by the jurymen eager to get their pay. Thus Aristophanes is enlightening
the audience about the nature of their jury system, and is appealing to them to fix it. Likewise, Shakespeare addresses the issue of corruption within
his play Hamlet. While not drawn from a real life example (at least, not one that is known), he uses the character of Claudius to

Lockegee Rock near Morehead Kentucky holds a stunning view of the Daniel Boone National Forest! ВҐAn absolute fantastic view. Captured from the
top of the Daniel Boone National Forest, located in northeastern Kentucky near the city of Morehead, this featured image originates in one of the most
beautiful and well kept secrets on earth. Although this location is breathtaking, efforts to capture images from the summit will certainly involve a bit
hiking and climbing, but it's definitely worth the journey. Whether it's photography or purely for the love of a great hike, I can't see anyone regretting
making this trip. Regardless of the agenda, a striking and tranquil retreat awaits the willing adventurer. ВҐAn unforgettable experience. This... Show

Conditions on the trail are certainly favorable to anyone sporting quality shoes; however, I do recommend a decent pair of hiking shoes. Although
a short walk from the parking area, approximately half a mile, along with a small rock bed crossing, there are no steams or arduous leaps to take in
your trek to the base of Lockegee Rock. Once at the base, one can expect a short vertical ascent to the summit. Climbing gear, certainly a helmet, may
prove beneficial, however, plenty of rocky edges and tree roots make the climb fairly effortless for anyone in average to good health. While the trip to
the base is not difficult, attempting an ascent to the summit for anyone with limited mobility and strength may not be wise, certainly not without
special training and equipment. In any case, the prepared photographer leaves nothing to chance. Remember, if hiking to the top of the rock to capture
the vista of the year, don't forget that you will be lugging your camera gear as well. ВҐOff the beaten path and always open. Well, always open
translates to always available to photographs any time of year. Higher altitudes have their perks as well, making the expedition to Lockegee Rock
accessible regardless of what the weather may bring; however, a heavy snow may inhibit your travels and prevent a safe transit to the top of the ridge.
Bottom line, if you're up to the challenge, the rock is open for business no matter what time of year. ВҐYear–round beauty. If you've read this far, you

North Carolina Historic Landmarks
The Great Smoky Mountains a border between Tennessee and North Carolina, and the Blue Ridge mountain with the bluish color when seen from the

The North Carolina Historic Landmarks from plantations, battleships, lighthouses or museums are part of the history of this great state.
The Battle of Bentonville, Bethania Historic District, the Biltmore Estate, The Blackwell and Company Tobacco Factory. Without forgetting about the

The Importance Of Vocation In A Ray Of Darkness
Former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' book A Ray of Darkness, has been influential on my own journey with call and vocation. Prior
church experiences taught me that introspection and self–exploration were too prideful and that it is the Christian's duty to continually pursue difficult
things, in spite of aptitude. The rationale was: if it is difficult, then it must be holy. It was this very mindset that for many years, kept me from pursuing
my calling.
Williams' book was formative in my life because he critiques the common view of vocation as a "theatrical casting" event, which is also how I once
viewed vocation. Williams argues that the "God finding us a part to play" perspective of vocation is inherently problematic and leads to resentment
when we do not feel we are being "used"1. Rather, in quite ground– breaking fashion Williams defines vocation as "the call to be" and exist as oneself
2. This frees us
to respond to God's call within our own unique identities. This was a revolutionary thought – that God wants me to be myself. Williams exposes the
tendency to hide in "unreality" and self– protection, saying that vocation "is what's left when all the games have stopped. 3"
Now that I am moving towards the priesthood, I am actively engaged in discovering myself and gifts that I possess. This is a unique challenge after
years of living up to others' expectations of how a good Christian should live. In the past, I did not give myself permission as Williams says to

slavery and sectional attitudes
DBQ #5: Slavery and Sectional Attitudes, 1830–1860
During the mid 1800's many Americans began to have mix feelings over the issue of slavery. Many northern Americans believed that slavery was
morally wrong and that it was an evil. Southerners on the other hand believed it was a good for the economy as well as for commerce. This great split
of attitudes between the north and the south eventually led to threat of the civil war. The North saw the issue of slavery as an evil. They believed that
slavery was an impurity that became accustomed to life in America, in which made other systems of commerce forgotten. In a nation where freedom
and equality is given, the property owning of people is wrong. In Hinton Helper's "The Impending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Allied Powers of the First World War
I. Introduction
During the First World War (1914– 1918) The United Kingdom was one of the Allied Powers, fighting against the Central Powers (the German Empire,
the Austro–Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaria).
In 1914, British Army did not have the power to fight a major war on the continent, and throughout the course of military actions had to multiply in size
fourteen times (Chandler/ Beckett 211). Nature of the conflict that forced reorganization of the British Army, including raising one of the largest
all–volunteer militaries in history, creation of the Royal Air Force, and use of conscription, as well as facing modern and far more brutal weapons
resulted in tremendous changes in the British warfare. British commanders, experienced in fighting small colonial wars, had to quickly adapt to a very
different set of circumstances.
The end of War marked a decline in the respect of authority. Economical effects of massive casualties, during carnages like the Battle of the
Somme (1916), became felt and evidences of Generals' incompetence were brought to light (for example in 1927 publication of Lions Led by
Donkeys: Showing how victory in the Great War was achieved by those who made the fewest mistakes by British Captain P.A. Thompson). The
criticism intensified after the end of the Second World War, when massive sacrifices of the previous war were put in perspective. Publication of book
like the Donkeys (1961) by Alan Clark or release of

Review Of Jon Meacham And The Failure Of American Higher...
It is not what a person says that is important, but instead how they say it. By changing the tone or audience of a work, the purpose can be completely
altered. Two articles can have identical information, yet when a different tone is formed between the two, their purposes drastically change. The
article " What Colleges Will Teach in 2025" by Jon Meacham and " The Failure of AmericanHigher Education" by Robert Atkinson both contain a
topic that is similar on many levels. That being said, each article has an entirely different tone and audience, effectively skewing the similarity
between their purposes. While Atkinson created a sound argument, his choice of tone and use of audience were far less effective than Meacham's. To
better understand the writing of an author, it is important to see where they are coming from. Both Meacham and Atkinson are professionals who
have a lot of knowledge on their topic. Atkinson is the founder of a well known think tank, along with having an extensive background in economics.
Being an employer, Atkinson has personal experience with the hiring process. On the other side of the spectrum, Meacham has a prodigious
knowledge of American history. He is both a best selling author and a fellow of the Society of American Historians. This, along with being a former
trustee of the University of the South give Meacham an air of expertise on the topic of his article. Meacham's audience is specific, aiming to pinpoint
the problem and resolve it.

The Multistore Model of Memory Essay
The Multistore Model of Memory The multistore model is a representation of memory based on having more than one different kind of store for
remembered information. Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968) proposed this model based on evidence related to the separate stores of memory (e.g. serial
position: primacy recency, forgetting etc.). It suggests that memory comprises of three separate stores, the sensory memory store, the short–term
memory and the long–term memory, each store having a specific and relatively inflexible function:
Information enters and is initially stored in SM which holds information for very brief periods of time if the information is not concentrated on.
However, if a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, he frequently asked about his uncle and, on each occasion, reacted again with the level of grief appropriate to hearing the news for the first
time. KF, a motorcycle accident victim investigated by Shallice and Warrington (1970), suffered from the reverse of this memory impairment. He
had no difficulty in transferring new items into LTM but had a grossly impaired digit span. Cases such as these lend support to the Atkinson and
Shiffrin model, in that they seem to point to a clear distinction between LTM and STM. There does seem to be fairly strong support for a difference
between LTM and STM in terms of duration, capacity and effects of brain damage. However, there are problems with the model of Atkinson and
Shiffrin. The model is too simple and inflexible and fails to take account of factors such as the strategies people employ to remember things. It also
places emphasis on the amount of information that can be processed rather than its nature. Some things are simply easier to remember than others,
perhaps because they are more interesting, more distinctive, funnier, or whatever. The multistore model cannot account for this. Furthermore,
alternative explanations can account for the empirical findings e.g. the levels of processing model. This model was put forward by Craik and
Lockhart (1972). According to them, processing varies in terms of depth, 'Trace

What Is The Theme Of The Lion King Movie
When it comes to movies, I can be a hard person to please. I like dramas, comedies, and romantic movies. There's one movie that I love so much, I
watched this movie countless times when I was younger and still watch it today, and can recite the entire script for memory. It includes all these
different themes and more. The Lion King, a 1994 G – rated Disney American animated music film. This movie demonstrates family, friends, betrayal,
rejection, running from responsibility, values, and growing strong through adversity.
The movie starts with a sunrise of African grasslands. As dawn breaks, all the animals of the Pride Lands are gathering to go to Pride Rock, the
home of the pride of lions. Mufasa (James Earl Jones) is waiting on Pride Rock. Zazu (Rowan Atkinson) flies over all the animals and meets Mufasa
on Pride Rock where he bows to him. Rafiki (Robert Guillaume) the mandrill passes between ranks of animals, who bows to him; he then climbs
Pride Rock to where Mufasa is standing. Rafiki and Mufasa then embrace each other with a hug. Mufasa then takes Rafiki ... Show more content on

However, the horsepower increases to 200 during hard acceleration, when the gasoline engine and the electric motor are working in tandem.
Off–the–line acceleration is admirable, causing the front wheels to spin at times. On the highway, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has no loss of power,
especially during those times when it is needed.
Beyond the hybrid's respectable performance, its handling corresponds to what other sedans in this segment provide – a relatively uninvolved
experience. Steering is light to the touch and what most drivers should find tuned to their satisfaction. Braking is firm and confident.
For hybrid drivers desiring to optimize fuel economy, the sedan should be operated in Eco mode. The normal mode is the default mode and does not
have a corresponding button. Both EV and Eco modes are controlled by separate switches located between the front seats. The EV mode allows the
Camry Hybrid to operate at speeds of up to 25 mpg as an electric vehicle, but not for more than one mile. Operating in anything but normal mode
impedes performance, but the trade off is improved fuel efficiency.
The EPA rates the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid at 43 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. However, this driver averaged 33.5 mpg over 280
miles, as cold temperatures impeded its fuel efficiency even when operated almost exclusively in Eco

Short Story : Old, Dusty Room
Scene:
Old, dusty room. Poor wooden furniture painted dominantly in dark, brown colours. Huge and ancient, but beautiful curtains partly hiding the big,
scratched window. Outside can be observed a poorly trimmed garden, with a small almost withered rowan tree in the middle of it. Complete silence
in the house, that kind of silence which inspires deep mournfulness, except for the sound of the raindrops frequently hitting the decrepit roof. In the
room, there's a high bed with the legs made of iron and a lot of clean, white bed covers on it. The young lady is lying on the bed with the eyes turned
to the window, staring at the rowan tree. The young man comes in.
John:
Oh, my darling, have I woken you up or you just can not close your eyes?
Mary:
(With an exhausted voice)
I was woken up by the irritating noise of the rain. But come in, I want you to sit near to me ... I want you to see it... Look out of the window...
John:
I am looking outside, but what are you staring at? Is it the gloomy sky, or the old garden ?
Mary:
No... Look at how beautiful that tree is, the one in front of you. I watched for a while, I have a feeling that it is a lot more than just a simple plant, it
gives me so much strength... Now, when I am in need of it more than at anytime... It must be more than just a poor mound of shrubs. Oh, oh...
(She suddenly starts to feel very hot, she closes her eyes and covers her forehead with one arm. John bends so that he can kiss her on her forehead.)

Mr Bean Character Analysis
In the excerpt of the television show, 'Merry Christmas Mr Bean', directed by John Brinkin with the actors Rowan Atteinson, who plays Mr Bean and
Matilda Zieglar, who plays Irma Gobb. The episode features and consists of inter–linked sketches, based upon an excerpt when Mr Bean is preparing a
Christmas lunch. In this assessment task this comic excerpt is to be analysed, and individually in essay format, analyse its use of the elements of
drama, stage craft and comic style to determine the creation of comic meaning. The elements used within the excerpt are all contributed to create and
draw a larger focus to the comedic impact trying to be pursued; this is done successfully due to the use of human context (roles and relationships),
tension (tension of the task, relationship, mystery, and surprise) and movement (e.g. physical actions, gestures and facial expressions). Human context
is displayed within the excerpt when displaying dimensions of the main character and how they help to develop his character; this is done by
characterising Mr Bean himself and associating him in the opening scene, where he is presented making up in a childish manner and expression of his
relation with "Teddy" his toy bear, to the audience. Other than the initial relationship introduced throughout the beginning of the excerpt, the
relationship with Irma reassures the audience that Mr Bean although he acts childish and immature he still possess traits that position him as an adult.

James Bond, Die Another Day and Johnny English
James Bond's, Die Another Day is a spy film filled with action. James Bond is the main character in the film who has a mission to discover the
connection between a North Korean terrorist and an adventurous diamond broker. His character seems very clever and crafty. He is always the hero
that successfully completes each mission. He has the gadgets, the fast car, women and of course a famous catchphrase which is what makes up James

Of course, there was the use of two cars, guns and many gadgets to make the scene. They made the scene seem more effective by using dramatic
music and the sound effects of the guns and cars. Special effects were used to make blood look real and grenade explosions. Many effects were also
made by Computer Generated Images on the cars invincibility and the large beam on the ice.
The Johnny English car chase was also set in the daylight but in the streets of London. Again, they use many different camera shots; these are Long
shot, Focus and Medium shots. In this scene Johnny English and Bough are on a car chase to capture the villains that have stolen the crown jewels.
They make this scene more effective by using sounds for the guns and make it more intense by using action like music. Not only are the sounds
effective but they used special effects. When Johnny English fired a missile into the speed camera they had to use special effects to make it look real.
They also had to use a stunt man to climb out of the truck with Bough and into the sports car that it was towing. The iconography is very similar to
James Bond, for example, the sports car, gadgets and the smart clothes. The only thing that makes this scene different is the humour used. As Johnny
English's character is supposed to mess up, he does things wrong that can seem humorous towards the audience. An

Why was Hamilton important to the world of mathematics?...
Why was Hamilton important to the world of mathematics? Well, he invented quaternions. Now, I'm not sure how to explain it, since I haven't
really learned about it. The form of this expression is a+bi+cj+dk. In this expression, the variables a, b, c, and d are all real numbers. There's a little
bit more to it than that, but I will get into detail later. Now, I don't know how you would use it, but I'm sure it's important! He also invented Icosian
Calculus. Hopefully I will learn more about both inventions sometime next year. Hamilton was born on August 3, 1895. He was the fourth child out
of 9. His parents were pretty busy, so he lived with his Uncle James. James had migrated from Scotland, so Hamilton is of Irish descent. He began...

This later led to him majoring in mathematics. He we enrolled to Trinity College in 1823. Being the top student in his classes at college, Hamilton
ran as a candidate to take Dr. Brinkley's chair at the Andrews professorship of astronomy in 1827. He successfully got the chair. The committee that
elected him expected him to focus on astronomy. He did focus on it a little, but Hamilton continued to focus mostly on mathematics. After 10
years, he became the president of the Royal Irish Academy. During his years at college, he got received an optime for Greek, which was one of the
early languages he learned. It was also given to him for Physics. He published many papers. The first paper he published was called "Caustics",
which was sent to Dr. Brinkley. It was edited over 3 years, and officially titled "The Theorem of Systems of Rays", which included the idea of
"conical refraction". This was printed in "The Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy" in 1828. The second and third parts were released together
in "On a General Method in Dynamics", published in Transactions as well. In 1827, Hamilton invented a theory that helped explain the theory of light.
It was called "Hamilton's Principal function". He died at age 60 on September 2, 1865. He is well known for these, as well as other contributions he
made to mathematics. After his death, his son published "Elements of Quaternions". The reason why Hamilton invented quaternions is because he

theatrical performances. This event is an established one and has been held in Edinburgh every August since 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up
uninvited at the Edinburgh International Festival and decided to perform their shows at the 'fringe' of the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe,
[Accessed: 23/05/2016])The Fringe began to grow every year as more and more performers turned up and performed their own fringe shows. In 1985,
the Festival Fringe Society was created as a facility to formalise these performances and create a central box office. The society decided to draft a
constitution that ensured that whilst they governed the logistics of the event, they still operated within the ethos of the founding members of the
fringe. Therefore the society maintains a policy that they have no part in vetting the performances for the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, et al.)This
means that anyone with a creative act can perform over the three weeks in which the festival takes place. So, the Fringe Festival has come to be
known for hosting thousands of shows across hundreds of venues catering for a variety of tastes and interests. The Fringe has succeeded in creating an
outlet for many people who wouldn't have had the opportunity to otherwise perform in front of thousands of accredited journalists, art industry
professionals in

Comparison between Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid" and Rowan...
Name: Toh Lai Hee
Class: IA04B (Interactive Art)
Lecturer: Lydia
Subject: Art History
The most apparent similarity between these two films is that both films revolve around the daily lives of the main characters.
The main characters, Charlie and Mr. bean, in The Kid and Mr. Bean – The Ultimate Disaster Movie respectively, both have child–like qualities, and
the tendency to be rather mischievous. Mr. Bean is naive and self–centered, sometimes to the extent of becoming somewhat mean. Despite his
considerable age, he still sleeps cuddled up with his teddy bear. Nothing is sacred to him, and he plays his games with an earnest sheepishness. His
childish directness and honesty, while offensive at times, are his sharpest weapons. The little... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bean himself, in a typically 'English' environment, then later putting him in an 'international' environment. Being release in 1997 it is a light–hearted
satire of how the more conservative English society reacts to and attempt to adapt to rapidly changing international standards and the shifts in power.
The main difference of these two movies is that The Kid aims to bring some cheer to its audiences' hearts by showing how joy can still be found in
the gloomiest conditions (as depicted in the daily lives of Charlie and the child he has adopted) and also to reflect the state of the society while Mr.
Bean – The Ultimate Disaster Movie seeks to bring some comic relief into the highly stressful lifestyle of the modern–day individual, by actually letting
them laugh at a highly exaggerated, and therefore comic, version of 'themselves'.
As mentioned earlier, the era in which Charlie Chaplin's The Kid was made did not allow for colour or sound to be incorporated into its production.
Being disadvantaged in this area, the actors in the film had to make up for it by emphasizing on facial expressions and body movements, in order to
express thoughts and emotions, and also to portray certain unique mannerisms and character traits of the various characters in the story. Modern–day
audiences who are unaccustomed to this form of acting might feel uncomfortable viewing films from the silent era, because the actors may seem to
them, to be over–acting to an outrageous

The Film 'Love Actually' by Bridget Jones
Love Actually Essay
The film trailers designed to promote the film Love Actually represent a particular view of modern love and relationships. Explore this idea within a
media analysis framework.
From the makers of Bridget Jones's Diary and Notting Hill, the film Love Actually is a romantic comedy about igniting laughter, wrecking havoc,
breaking hearts, daring commitment and forcing choices. The film is of a typical romantic comedy genre, which is targeted at teenagers and adults.
The key ingredients of a romantic comedy are that it is optimistic and it has humour combined with love and friendship. Usually, the genre has a
universal appeal, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that they are more attention grabbing as there is more instant information given along with appealing images.
Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In my views, it is an intense affectionate concern
or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of
contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in
love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon. This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher
status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think
this suggests that the views of love and relationships portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love
Actually, the word ''Love'' is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is probably why this colour was used.
The soundtracks for both trailers are very different. The first trailer consists of slow and romantic music, which suggests that it is a film targeted at
couples or older

The Lion King Chapter 1 Summary

  • 1. The Lion King Chapter 1 Summary Group C Sharon Ungerfeld Drama 3 October 2017 The Lion King Summary Simba is born to Mufasa, the king, leaving Simba's uncle second–in–line to the throne. The jealous Scar lures Simba and his friend Nala into a forbidden elephant graveyard, where he tries to kill them. Luckily, Mufasa saves them. Scar then, working with the hyenas, murders Mufasa, then manipulates Simba into thinking that it was his fault. Simba goes into exile to punish himself for what he thinks he has done. Scar then tells the pride that Mufasa and Simba were killed in the accident, and he takes over as king. In the desert, Simba meets Pumbaa the warthog and Timon the meerkat. Simba grows up in the company of his friends with the motto "hakuna matata" meaning "no worries" in Swahili. Nala, Simba's childhood friend, visits him and tells him that life is horrible under the rule of King Scar. With the help of his friends, he goes to confront Scar. When he reaches, Scar tells him that he killed Mufasa. Out of anger, Simba corners Mufasa. He spares Scar's life, but Scar again tries to attack him. Simba once again corners Scar. Scar tries to blame it on the hyenas. Simba pushes Scar off the cliff. Scar survives the fall, but is killed by the lions who heard him trying to betray them. The Lion King History ... Bruce Davis was the Democratic candidate chosen in the primary to run for House of Representatives in the Thirteen District in North Carolina. This campaign season was not a traditional one in comparison to what I've studied of past campaign's. Our world has changed with the creation of social media and campaign's have changed with it. In our campaign we had to look harder to find a proper strategy for using social media to are advantage and think outside the box. Bruce Davis chose to give his intern's and his staff free reign to come up with ideas to move our campaign into modern times. These ideas will be discussed throughout this paper. Another huge factor about this congressional district that must be considered in this race. Bruce Davis would be the first African American to represent this particular electoral district. The fact that Bruce is an African American is huge part of the context in our district. After analyzing the electoral district and the demographics in each of the counties we figured out that we were dealing with a largely white majority. In the thirteen district: made up of parts of Guilford County, Davie County, Iredell, Davison, Rowan County white people make up 79.5 % of district. African Americans on average make up 15.88%. And the Hispanic population is less then 10% in every district accept Guildford County. We discussed this with Bruce in our meeting's because we needed to come up with a plan to stop people immediately dismissing Bruce because of racial discrimination which is still very prominent in the south and worldwide. We decided that when we handed out literature in this particular rural highly republican areas wouldn't put his face on literature. That way he wouldn't be immediately judged by the color of skin and maybe they could focus on issues he stood for. The Lasting Influences of the Classical World on Other Cultures across Time Drama and dramatic performances have consistently been present throughout human society, both as a medium for entertainment as well as a forum for education and critique. Aristophanes, the "father of modern drama", was the first to really successfully amalgamate these two ideas together within his dramatic pieces, as can be seen in his works Wasps and Frogs. Shakespeare was the next great dramatist, and arguably the great dramatist, and he has evolved Aristophanes' ideas and methods and developed them to greater extent. "How can anyone claim to be serving your interests if I, the Dog, am not given my fair share?" says the first dog. Aristophanes uses the character of the dog to highlight the corruption of Cleon and how he has his fingers in all of the proverbial pies. He also uses the parabasis to criticise the jurymen of Athens, comparing the jurymen to wasps and highlighting to the Athenians how the jurymen are prone to harsh sentencing and unjust treatment of the accused: "if you haven't got a sting, you get no jury fee." The entire play is Aristophanes' comments on the corruption of the jurymen, and their exploitation by the demagogue Cleon. Philocleon personifies the self–interested, corrupt jurymen, who are taking incentives from Cleon (an increased pay) to judge harshly and sentence even more so. Cleon was using these trials to gain public appraisal as a seeker of justice, of course at the expense of the accused, which had been treated with an injustice by the jurymen eager to get their pay. Thus Aristophanes is enlightening the audience about the nature of their jury system, and is appealing to them to fix it. Likewise, Shakespeare addresses the issue of corruption within his play Hamlet. While not drawn from a real life example (at least, not one that is known), he uses the character of Claudius to ... Conditions on the trail are certainly favorable to anyone sporting quality shoes; however, I do recommend a decent pair of hiking shoes. Although a short walk from the parking area, approximately half a mile, along with a small rock bed crossing, there are no steams or arduous leaps to take in your trek to the base of Lockegee Rock. Once at the base, one can expect a short vertical ascent to the summit. Climbing gear, certainly a helmet, may prove beneficial, however, plenty of rocky edges and tree roots make the climb fairly effortless for anyone in average to good health. While the trip to the base is not difficult, attempting an ascent to the summit for anyone with limited mobility and strength may not be wise, certainly not without special training and equipment. In any case, the prepared photographer leaves nothing to chance. • 7. The Importance Of Vocation In A Ray Of Darkness Former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' book A Ray of Darkness, has been influential on my own journey with call and vocation. Prior church experiences taught me that introspection and self–exploration were too prideful and that it is the Christian's duty to continually pursue difficult things, in spite of aptitude. The rationale was: if it is difficult, then it must be holy. It was this very mindset that for many years, kept me from pursuing my calling. Williams' book was formative in my life because he critiques the common view of vocation as a "theatrical casting" event, which is also how I once viewed vocation. Williams argues that the "God finding us a part to play" perspective of vocation is inherently problematic and leads to resentment when we do not feel we are being "used"1. Rather, in quite ground– breaking fashion Williams defines vocation as "the call to be" and exist as oneself 2. This frees us to respond to God's call within our own unique identities. This was a revolutionary thought – that God wants me to be myself. Williams exposes the tendency to hide in "unreality" and self– protection, saying that vocation "is what's left when all the games have stopped. 3" Now that I am moving towards the priesthood, I am actively engaged in discovering myself and gifts that I possess. This is a unique challenge after years of living up to others' expectations of how a good Christian should live. In the past, I did not give myself permission as Williams says to ... • 9. The Allied Powers of the First World War I. Introduction During the First World War (1914– 1918) The United Kingdom was one of the Allied Powers, fighting against the Central Powers (the German Empire, the Austro–Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaria). In 1914, British Army did not have the power to fight a major war on the continent, and throughout the course of military actions had to multiply in size fourteen times (Chandler/ Beckett 211). Nature of the conflict that forced reorganization of the British Army, including raising one of the largest all–volunteer militaries in history, creation of the Royal Air Force, and use of conscription, as well as facing modern and far more brutal weapons resulted in tremendous changes in the British warfare. British commanders, experienced in fighting small colonial wars, had to quickly adapt to a very different set of circumstances. The end of War marked a decline in the respect of authority. Economical effects of massive casualties, during carnages like the Battle of the Somme (1916), became felt and evidences of Generals' incompetence were brought to light (for example in 1927 publication of Lions Led by Donkeys: Showing how victory in the Great War was achieved by those who made the fewest mistakes by British Captain P.A. Thompson). The criticism intensified after the end of the Second World War, when massive sacrifices of the previous war were put in perspective. The article " What Colleges Will Teach in 2025" by Jon Meacham and " The Failure of AmericanHigher Education" by Robert Atkinson both contain a topic that is similar on many levels. That being said, each article has an entirely different tone and audience, effectively skewing the similarity between their purposes. While Atkinson created a sound argument, his choice of tone and use of audience were far less effective than Meacham's. To better understand the writing of an author, it is important to see where they are coming from. Both Meacham and Atkinson are professionals who have a lot of knowledge on their topic. • 11. The Multistore Model of Memory Essay The Multistore Model of Memory The multistore model is a representation of memory based on having more than one different kind of store for remembered information. Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968) proposed this model based on evidence related to the separate stores of memory (e.g. serial position: primacy recency, forgetting etc.). It suggests that memory comprises of three separate stores, the sensory memory store, the short–term memory and the long–term memory, each store having a specific and relatively inflexible function: Information enters and is initially stored in SM which holds information for very brief periods of time if the information is not concentrated on. However, if a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... KF, a motorcycle accident victim investigated by Shallice and Warrington (1970), suffered from the reverse of this memory impairment. He had no difficulty in transferring new items into LTM but had a grossly impaired digit span. Cases such as these lend support to the Atkinson and Shiffrin model, in that they seem to point to a clear distinction between LTM and STM. There does seem to be fairly strong support for a difference between LTM and STM in terms of duration, capacity and effects of brain damage. However, there are problems with the model of Atkinson and Shiffrin. The model is too simple and inflexible and fails to take account of factors such as the strategies people employ to remember things. It also places emphasis on the amount of information that can be processed rather than its nature. Some things are simply easier to remember than others, perhaps because they are more interesting, more distinctive, funnier, or whatever. The multistore model cannot account for this. Furthermore, alternative explanations can account for the empirical findings e.g. the levels of processing model. This model was put forward by Craik and Lockhart (1972). According to them, processing varies in terms of depth, 'Trace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mr Bean Character Analysis In the excerpt of the television show, 'Merry Christmas Mr Bean', directed by John Brinkin with the actors Rowan Atteinson, who plays Mr Bean and Matilda Zieglar, who plays Irma Gobb. The episode features and consists of inter–linked sketches, based upon an excerpt when Mr Bean is preparing a Christmas lunch. In this assessment task this comic excerpt is to be analysed, and individually in essay format, analyse its use of the elements of drama, stage craft and comic style to determine the creation of comic meaning. The elements used within the excerpt are all contributed to create and draw a larger focus to the comedic impact trying to be pursued; this is done successfully due to the use of human context (roles and relationships), tension (tension of the task, relationship, mystery, and surprise) and movement (e.g. physical actions, gestures and facial expressions). Human context is displayed within the excerpt when displaying dimensions of the main character and how they help to develop his character; this is done by characterising Mr Bean himself and associating him in the opening scene, where he is presented making up in a childish manner and expression of his relation with "Teddy" his toy bear, to the audience. Other than the initial relationship introduced throughout the beginning of the excerpt, the relationship with Irma reassures the audience that Mr Bean although he acts childish and immature he still possess traits that position him as an adult. Now, I'm not sure how to explain it, since I haven't really learned about it. The form of this expression is a+bi+cj+dk. In this expression, the variables a, b, c, and d are all real numbers. Hopefully I will learn more about both inventions sometime next year. Hamilton was born on August 3, 1895. He was the fourth child out of 9. This was printed in "The Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy" in 1828. The second and third parts were released together in "On a General Method in Dynamics", published in Transactions as well. A Critical Analysis Of Edinburgh ' Fringe ' Festival ' My aim is to conduct a critical analysis on the Edinburgh 'Fringe' Festival, an annual event with the purpose of providing a platform for unjuried theatrical performances. This event is an established one and has been held in Edinburgh every August since 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited at the Edinburgh International Festival and decided to perform their shows at the 'fringe' of the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, [Accessed: 23/05/2016])The Fringe began to grow every year as more and more performers turned up and performed their own fringe shows. In 1985, the Festival Fringe Society was created as a facility to formalise these performances and create a central box office. The society decided to draft a constitution that ensured that whilst they governed the logistics of the event, they still operated within the ethos of the founding members of the fringe. Therefore the society maintains a policy that they have no part in vetting the performances for the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, et al.)This means that anyone with a creative act can perform over the three weeks in which the festival takes place. So, the Fringe Festival has come to be known for hosting thousands of shows across hundreds of venues catering for a variety of tastes and interests. Mr. Bean is naive and self–centered, sometimes to the extent of becoming somewhat mean. Despite his considerable age, he still sleeps cuddled up with his teddy bear. Being release in 1997 it is a light–hearted satire of how the more conservative English society reacts to and attempt to adapt to rapidly changing international standards and the shifts in power. The main difference of these two movies is that The Kid aims to bring some cheer to its audiences' hearts by showing how joy can still be found in the gloomiest conditions (as depicted in the daily lives of Charlie and the child he has adopted) and also to reflect the state of the society while Mr. Bean – The Ultimate Disaster Movie seeks to bring some comic relief into the highly stressful lifestyle of the modern–day individual, by actually letting them laugh at a highly exaggerated, and therefore comic, version of 'themselves'. As mentioned earlier, the era in which Charlie Chaplin's The Kid was made did not allow for colour or sound to be incorporated into its production. Being disadvantaged in this area, the actors in the film had to make up for it by emphasizing on facial expressions and body movements, in order to express thoughts and emotions, and also to portray certain unique mannerisms and character traits of the various characters in the story.
