Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. This 3rd person camera used throughout the whole of
this film is an interesting way for the creators to
present the film. They would have attached a camera to
some sort of pole to the bottom of his coat in order to
get this shot. I believe it works well in moderation, I
don’t think it works well as every shot in the film. This
is why me and Greg may attempt this shot a few times
throughout the film but we want to highlight the
emotion on Adam’s face but also have a variety of
shots. This would include; long shots, extreme close
ups, pov shots etc.
This is the final shot in the film as it is a 180 degree shot where
we start behind him and pan round to reveal his face. This is the
only shot we get of the main characters face I think it is a big
flaw in this short film that we don’t see his facial expressions
more often.
3. This part of the short film combines the shot with the
voiceover where he says “I should run more, but I
start running in these clothes I will look like a crazy
person” this narrative technique of combining the
voiceover with the shot is something that we will
definitely use in our film. This helps the audience
understand the purpose of the shot and we can use
this shot to amplify Adam’s sense of anxiety.
This technique is used once again when the character
believes that a napkin is following him. This provides
comedy to the narrative but also helps to accentuate
his anxiety. This is a technique we will use in our film,
likely substituting the napkin for a leaf as Adam walks
to the dinner before school.
4. These shots on the train have a voicover where the character says
that everyone is watching him on the train, this is to show his
anxiety. This use of a voicover connecting film with audio is crucial
and something we will definitely do in our film. As this would have
been filmed with a mount on his back with a camera means that
the general public would be watching him wondering what they
are filming, this means they wouldn’t have to hire too many extras
for this film as he will be watched regardless.
The man can be seen watching the main character here and also
appears in other scenes to highlight his paranoia.
5. This part of the video uses a
chroma blur and a lens flare,
these are video effects that we
may consider using to have a
similar disorientating effect as
the one used in this video.
6. Occasionally in the video, a tripod is used when the main
character is stood still. This means the shot is steadier and it’s
easier to film, focus the shot and compose it. However, the shot
remains in 3rd person. As for the 2nd screenshot, this is called
metafilm as we are watching a film where they are showing us
the recording of an advert. I found this quite interesting as I
personally am a fan of meta.
