2. Ginger Woman
• In this scene, the woman says “It
shouldn’t be happening, none of it”
with an over shoulder shot of the
woman. She proceeds to storm off, we
can infer from this she is annoyed
about something the man is involved
in. She is represented as a character
driven by her emotion and morals
which would match dominant
ideology about being feminine as
woman are perceived to be controlled
by their emotion and feelings.
3. Digger woman
• This woman is portrayed as heroine due to her
role in this mission to control the digger and
that she fights off the tiger and as a result saves
the man’s life. Her clothing also plays a part in
her subverting stereotypes about feminine
qualities as she wears a black leather jacket.
Her pictured in a tractor makes her seem like a
strong independent woman, subverting
stereotypes that suggests women need the
support of others to function. Also, her
controlling the digger subverts dominant
ideologies that a man needs to be in charge of
machinery such as this, making her seem more
independent and capable in these situations.
She contrasts the two other males in this scene.
4. Man
• Man goes off independently to save the
woman, this would conform to dominant
ideologies as men are expected to be
independent and solve their own problems.
He proves that he can do this later on when
he uses a zip wire to escape the tiger,
another expectation of men is to be
intelligent enough to make decisions, this is
demonstrated later on when he thinks to
use his belt on the zipline, this shows quick
thinking a quality seen to be an important
part of the masculine man. He also appears
quite physically fit as he out runs a tiger
which would conform to what is expected of
a man as he is expected to be physically fit
to be truly masculine.
5. Scarf Man
• The scarf man’s outfit and figure
makes him seem less masculine, he is
skinny man and not muscly, he also
wears a fedora and a scarf (which is
basically a crime against fashion) and
generally does not look very
masculine. His appearance doesn’t
match stereotypes of the male
gender. However, he is isolated in this
scene which would match dominant
ideologies about men. Later on, he
appears at the barn with a shovel
which would show that he isn’t very
prepared or able subverting
dominant ideologies about the
masculine man.
6. Barn woman
• In this scene, the woman is sexualised and
objectified by her clothing, which could be
seen as revealing. Her clothing also tells us
about her status and wealth, she is clearly
high up the chain as she is wearing an
expensive coat. This character conforms to
dominant ideologies as she seems to care
a lot about her appearance with her
makeup and clothing being obvious
features. This represents the female
gender as very feminine as it follows the
stereotype that woman are very
considerate about their appearance.
7. Barn Man
• This man is pictured as big in size, he
is dressed like a farmer with a scruffy
appearance and also has a masculine
voice. These are all stereotypes of
men that they are chubby, don’t care
about their appearance and try to be
masculine. This conforms to
dominant ideologies about middle
aged men as they often would look
like this. However, this character also
subverts dominant ideologies as he
threatens the woman and acts in an
ungentlemanly manner.
