2. This is a film poster for a future length film about a taxi driver
with crippling mental problems which we follow with him
throughout the film. I have therefore chosen to analyse this
film poster as it shares ideologies and concepts with my own
short film.
Note how in this poster we have a centrally framed subject
with a dark, natural framing surrounding him. The subjects
safe item (his taxi) is positioned directly behind him. I will try
and incorporate my characters safe item in the film poster.
Also, note how the characters face is slightly bewildered and
worried, we will also need to give our character a worried
look on his face.
Due to the film being a classic, old film, the text is not
encrypted with the image however I’ll be aiming to encrypt
my text with images.
3. Note how on this poster we see Loral's. These are awards
that are given to specifically short films for their technical
or physical properties. I like how in this shot we she our
main character, not looking at the camera but still in the
center of the shot. This has been done to suggest that this
character is the main one, I like how he’s sharp and in
focus but then we have a soft, out of focus background.
Colin Ross Smith is the director/producer of this work.
It’s common in short film posters to include the
directors name rather than the actors as the directors
are normally trying to promote their work to other film
producers.
If we were going make our own interpretation of this
style we’d say: “A Greg Welbourne & Owen Mears Short
Film”
The Lost Purse is clearly the title of this short film and
we can tell this by the bold, large letters. Underneath
we also see institutional context which indicates people
who have been a part of the production process.
4. I really like the style of editing that’s gone into
this piece, with the multiple layers of similar
images which have varied opacities and sizes. I
like how here, we see a centrally placed subject
with a naturally occurring grey frame. I feel that
the image that’s been created affectively
portrays the idea of the girl suffering from a
phobia. I like how the subject hair is quite
messy, this could perhaps represent her life too.
I’d be interested to replicate this style for my
own short film poster.
